De’Von Achane OUT FOR SEASON! Who Replaces Him? + Week 3 Recap (09/28 Fantasy Football Podcast)

Fantasy football this week is marked by significant injury disruptions and unpredictable team dynamics. The Rams’ dominant performance against the Broncos, despite losing key receivers, highlights their offensive resilience and Stafford’s consistent play, while the Raiders’ 26-point scoring in every game signals a surprising start to their season. On the Dolphins, Devon Achan’s season-ending injury forces a shift in backfield strategy, with Ollie Gordon appearing as the more reliable red-zone option. Meanwhile, Drake May’s poor decision-making, high interception rate, and lack of open receivers make him a risky, potentially droppable pick. The Giants’ new quarterback situation and conservative offensive approach raise concerns for Malik Neighbors, despite his solid releases and route-running. Tight ends like Trey McBride and Brock Bowers are showing strong volume and route participation, with McBride leading in targets and catches. Overall, injury waves and shifting schemes have created volatility across the league, emphasizing the need for deep research and injury monitoring. Fantasy managers should prioritize players with consistent red-zone roles, volume, and reliable usage, while being cautious about quarterbacks and receivers in teams with poor offensive line or quarterback stability. This week’s unpredictability underscores the importance of staying flexible and adjusting lineups based on real-time data and health updates.

This is Fantasy Football Today from CBS Sports. What a play! Can you believe this? It's a no-like game. It's time to dominate your fantasy league. Off to the races, and he stays on his feet. He's just going to go the distance. Now, here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath. We are taking you beyond the box score here on Fantasy Football Today. Welcome, and it's Monday, September 28th. And this was one of the most head-spinning weeks that we're going to have all year, I think, Dan. We had crazy games. We had amazing finishes. What a game last night. Sunday night, Rams and Broncos. We also have this horrible season-ending injury to Devon H.M., which we're going to talk about. We've got J.J. McCarthy to the Giants, which we're going to talk about. Is your head spinning like mine is? Completely. It was so obvious how weird this week was when I did an article that I always write for CBS Sports every Sunday night, which kind of looks at the breakouts from the week, the early waiver wires, and I do a small panic meter. And when I was looking at the breakouts part of the week and the waiver wire, the guys that were up top from a scoring standpoint last year in fantasy were, one, all wide receivers. It was not a good week for running backs. Wait, last year or last week? This week, outside of the top guys like Gibbs and Bijan, as far as new guys bursting onto the scene. Not a lot of back options. And the receivers who were up there were just surprising names that you don't expect. You walk into this next week coming up in week four and you're like, I don't know who I'm starting in these flex spots, but it's going to be some weird names coming up. And obviously now with the injuries, it's going to be a very interesting fantasy week coming up, and I think I'm excited. Also, maybe we'll give you a little Jacob Gibbs impression today because unfortunately we don't have Jacob today. He's under the weather. Woke up insanely sick, and I know that feeling. Adam obviously knows that feeling as well. I think Adam's sick like 73% to 75% of the year. You've been sick much more recently than I have. If you're using a small recency bias-based sample size, yes, you can make that statement, but over the course of my existence on this show and your existence on the show, you're way more sick than I am on a more consistent basis, and everyone who watches knows that. I mean, yeah, but anyone who has little kids understands that, so that's what happens. They go to school, they all get sick, they bring it home. Anyway, Devon Achan is out for the season. By the way, our big topics today, we're only going to have three big topics today. We're going to talk about the Raiders, the Raiders have scored at least 26 points in every game so far. They did not do that in regulation once in 2025. Not once. They did it once in overtime when they scored a touchdown, but that was it. We're going to talk about the Raiders and their surprising start. Michael Wilson's big game with 17 targets against San Francisco, and he gets the Giants in week four. And what is the problem with Drake May? This may not even be a fantasy question, maybe just a football question. What is going on with Drake? We're going to have fun with screenshots, and we'll talk about the tape we've watched. We'll talk about Malik Neighbors, a little bit on the Chargers. Right now, let's look at the Miami Dolphins running backs. With Devon Achan out for the season, Jalen Wright missed week three with a foot injury. He also has a stinger. And we got Ollie Gordon, 17 carries and three catches, 20 touches, but 41 yards and a touchdown on those 17 carries. Now, last year we had two games where Achan missed. Different coaching staff, totally different scenario here, but two games where Achan either missed or left early, and in those games, Jalen Wright had 24 carries to Ollie Gordon's five, and Jalen Wright had 13 carries to Ollie Gordon's nine. Jalen Wright had three targets, but no catches in one of those games. He had two catches in the other. Ollie Gordon didn't have a catch in those two games. So, which, I guess I can't really say, like, pretend they're both healthy, because they're not, but which running back are you looking at here for the Dolphins, and what's your take on it? I think regardless of the health, it would be Ollie Gordon for me, the power running element he adds, and this is something we knew when he was drafted at Oklahoma State, was also the player who, out of Jalen Wright and him, had a larger sample size of actually carrying the full workload and being the workhorse back at Oklahoma State, was in the mix for a Heisman, his second to last year in college, was one of the better players in college football that year, didn't have a great senior year, fell to the sixth round of the draft because of it. But clearly, as you saw in his touchdown from this week, has that power element to his game. I don't think either is going to be too valuable for fantasy, I'm going to be honest. This feels very. Red zone-y, this feels very back on an offense that can't really score points. But if you want to go for something, you got to go for the guy who you think profiles better as the red zone option, and the better option to give you those six points that you get from a touchdown. And that's Ollie Gordon to me for sure. Even if he doesn't, like even if we come back and we're like, oh, he's not getting the passing down work at him, I don't care as much. I feel like that's a bit overrated in fantasy. What it really comes down to is who are they going to trust in the red zone? But the reality is there aren't going to be too many of those red zone trips. Yeah, I mean, there'll be enough. You know, look, Devon Achan scored 10.6 PPR fantasy points in week one, 12.3 in week two. That's terrible for Devon Achan. If I got that from Jalen Wright or Ollie Gordon, I'd be really happy about it. But you won't because they'll split, right? They'd have to score. And Achan hasn't scored yet. Yes, you figure they are going to split. I kind of would lean toward Wright if he were healthy. I don't know what this foot issue is. He's not on IR, so I don't think it's a long-term thing. They could always put him on IR. A stinger is usually not a long-term thing. I would probably lean right because he'll catch more balls. But, yeah, I could definitely see Ollie Gordon being the goal line back and taking right off the field. It's not great. If you're looking short-term, we're not going to get an update on Brees Hall until Wednesday, apparently. But I think Braylon Allen, if Brees Hall were to miss a game, like, Braylon Allen would be better. Plus, you do have the Dolphins at Minnesota this week, which is great. But I can't sit here. I agree with you. It's not going to be great for fantasy, but I can't sit here in the 12 non-dynasty leagues that I'm in and say I'm not going to put any claims in or any bids in for these Dolphins running backs because anyone who gets work is valuable once the injuries hit and once the bye weeks hit, which begin in week five. You know, there's value there. For sure. And I'm not saying that either. What I am saying is this is not the – if you have your – and the way that free agent budget works, typically you have your one big play a year you can make, essentially. This is not my big play span for the year. I don't have any means on either of these plays. Is it even a 30% spend? Not for me. I want to save my budget for the big play. That's how I view it. I view FAB as a very interesting thing. I think you should be saving your budget most of the year and then making one big splurge when you feel it's right. And this is just not even close to reaching that radar for me with either of these two players. If you want to say Brees hauls out for four weeks, I'm okay with going that route for Braylon Allen because one, the Jets' offensive line has looked much better than the Dolphins. The Jets' scheme, despite everybody kind of crushing Frank, has looked a lot better than this Bobby Slowik Dolphins scheme. And let's be honest, Geno Smith's playing pretty good football right now. I watch the games and he's pretty accurate. That's an offense that I think can actually score points. So that one to me is like, maybe I only get him for four weeks versus the year with these Dolphins backs, but I'm actually getting real production during those four weeks. Yeah. It's just the thing is if you're in a league where a guy like Ray Davis is owned or rostered and will continue to be most likely, I mean, it could get dropped during bi-weeks. That happens. You may not get that big splash play for Fab. You know, you may not have that opportunity. It's like Kalen Black. There's not a single league where Kalen Black is available, right? Like for me, for me, there is for a lot of people, but you just have to know what kind of leagues you're playing in. Maybe these are some of the better opportunities you're going to get this year, but maybe not. You never know. All right. All right. That's the Dolphins situation. We got two shows every week. That air on CBS Sports Network. They don't always air on CBS Sports Network, but they do air on HQ regardless of whether or not they're on CBS Sports Network. And that would be at noon Eastern on CBS Sports Network. And they are Tuesdays and Thursdays, Tuesday waiver wire, Thursdays, little starter sit rankings. And those are on CBS Sports Network. You can just watch them on TV, which is pretty cool. And if you miss them, you can see them on HQ and you can see them at youtube.com slash fantasy football today. Let's get into Denver and the Rams. Denver 30 Rams, 26 Rams had the ball for four. 34 minutes and 29 seconds. They ran 82 plays and they came up short. And yeah, what were your big takeaways from, from this one, this thriller last night? It was a thrilling game. Honestly, it was really fun to watch. You know, you see in my mind from the rant, let's start with the Ram side of the ball. You just see how productive that offense could be throughout this season when they're doing this without their first. And let's say third option in the passing game, because that's what Terrence Ferguson was. And that's what the plan was for him in week three before he got hurt. And so you're eliminating all these players. And then you see guys like Kanata Mumfield, who's got some hype look great. And is he looking great? Or is Matthew Stafford just that good at football? I think Stafford at this point is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL has proven that week after week for both fantasy and real life, because he's one of the best processors top three in that regard and still has top five arm talent. That combination will lead to things like this, like Higby coming up out of nowhere. And Mumfield coming up out of nowhere. Devante Adams still proving to be the best value, you know, every year, one of the best value in fantasy drafts on a per game basis. This is a high powered offense that can put up this amount of yards and points against a great Broncos defense in Denver, despite losing its first and third options in the passing game. So to me, this is a locked in unit for the rest of the season. The Broncos kind of having a weird season on that side of the ball, Adam. It's like they get off to these slow starts and then they find their way. It almost seems like I'm not through water. After week two was through Waddle, this was a completely different game, game plan i think rj harvey being back is a big part of their offense and will continue to be he's he's essentially playing the joker role in sean payton's offense and i know it's davis webb calling the plays but it's still sean payton's offense and that role is always going to be valuable if he's going to continue to play that role that's a ppr scam type of role with the option to occasionally break that into a random touchdown or a random big play and that to me is more valuable than a lot of the running backs that we start at this point especially on these dead zone teams um that don't really have you know you may get eight to ten more touches out of judkins but personally i'd rather the touches i get from rj harvey with the potential for actual touchdowns um and explosive plays so he's the one who stood out to me the most in that broncos offense is something that i took away from the game um and then obviously outside of that you have i think that pretty much covers what how i feel about the rams and broncos i think it's a pretty easy game a couple of easy teams to break down like you're gonna start kyron williams every week and even though he may not get he did in this game but look matthew stafford through 56 times in this game so or 55 pardon me anytime that happens it's going to be an exciting day for the broncos like bo nicks is going to be kind of tough i think to predict thankfully he did run three or four times in this game design runs i think he ran four four design runs in this game had only three coming in had the uh the rushing touchdown at the end but he's still not running that much and i like even though he had a huge game here against the rams i don't really consider him a must roster player he's fine you know sure whatever like nicks is is fine again dobbins 19 started i don't know if that's because he came into the game injured or he was facing the rams are going to have an amazing run defense i think that's seems pretty clear here as long as aaron donald is playing um yeah i don't really want to start dobbins if i can avoid it in ppr leagues but non or half ppr he should still get a lot of carries and he'll have better days than this waddle is interesting um we'll go to the rams in a second but like jaylen waddles had three terrible three great games one of them was one amazing eight catches 138 yards on 10 targets and the other two a combined three catches for 12 yards on 10 targets he saw a decent amount of um of uh their top corner mcduffie pardon me but i think when their other corner jaylen watson got hurt i think that kind of stopped and they changed their scheme a little bit but so it wasn't like last week neighbors was shut down by mcduffie right it was not that i think it was a little bit of a loss but i think it was a little bit of a loss i don't know exactly what the deal was with jaylen waddle but it was disappointing however if he's going to get seven targets most weeks i think he's going to be worth starting i just you know i'm not a huge waddle guy i know you were but i was pre-season yeah and it looked like in week two we got some semblance of what the upside could be but obviously now we see based on week three there is still downside with this waddle situation i just think generally speaking the problem with assuming waddle could be what i hoped he would be in the pre-season is that there's not a lot of rhythm to this broncos passing game there are big moments yeah where they have like bo nick's gonna design roll out he makes a big throw but there's just not a lot of rhythm it's not a rhythmic passing game the rhythmic passing games the rams the cowboys the the bangles these are the ones where i think you can project more week-to-week production even with the volume but you could get kind of what i would call empty volume like we got in this game of jaylen waddle yeah yeah it's a good point i i love that it's a good call that they don't have any rhythm i don't know that they have much of an identity the rams are awesome though offensively and yeah they have rhythm davante adams versus sirtan was so fun but adams clearly got the better of him seven catches 137 yards on 13 targets look at this play for terrence ferguson folks this was in the first quarter and it's and he's going yo jacob and dan are gonna feel so validated if you throw this ball to me because he is streaking wide i would have won my fantasy matchup if he catches this pass and i think i would have been not chopped in a guillotine league if he just gets this oh really yeah that's a 43 yard touchdown if matthew fernandes sees him but he didn't see him and he he's a good player and i don't give up on him yet but i do think look higby had a big game because ferguson barely played uh puka didn't play uh but i i hope there's there's good days ahead for ferguson because he's an exciting player i just don't know i think that there's gonna be some days where it's other tight ends you know um i i don't think you have to roster ferguson you also don't have to cut him let's see if puka comes back first not a guarantee that puka comes back um i don't think you have to roster ferguson you also don't have to cut him let's see if puka comes all right that's pretty much it they're at philadelphia next week we'll see what they do that's a tough stretch there of denver and philadelphia and back-to-back weeks but they scored 26 points at denver uh news and notes we'll we'll take a break we'll take a break here catch our breath and i don't know i'd love to hear a jacob impression you want to give that before break after break i'll do that when i present the stats that are just cherry picking from his twitter so i'm gonna do my best okay okay all right we'll be right back on fantasy football today i'm gonna talk to you right now about omaha steaks and this is a allen hopefully okay with the knee injury we'll see got hit in the knee um case keenum expected to start tonight so i don't think the tyson patient is going to come and save the day it's going to be most likely case keenum against the eagles baker mayfield got good news it's not a terribly long-term injury but it is going to be at least three weeks as of right now oh you saw three okay i saw two to four okay i think todd bowles said at least three weeks but all right let's let's throw it in the three-ish range dislocated thumb so those those are games against green bay at dallas and pittsburgh um bryce young limped off we'll see if there's any issues there and he came back but i think maybe at less than a hundred percent and the giants acquired jj mccarthy for a fifth round pick in next year's drafts what do you think about that i talked about this a little bit on on uh the big blue banter giants podcast i'm personally for it but i'm a gambler and this is how i view things to me the fifth round pick is just not a high opportunity cost throughout the last 25 years of my giants fandom the only fifth round picks that have mattered have been david deal and kevin boss you can argue darius slayton and tyrone tracy but the reality is both were easily replaced for nothing naji harris a vet miner minimum deal for tracy and then darnell mooney a borderline vet minimum deal for slayton and they're both more productive than those guys were so the reality is they're almost giving up nothing from that standpoint if you really truly look at the history and the hope is that he fits the scheme better he's only 24 years old he can move you can do all the things that you design for jackson dart with him better than you can with jamis because he can actually move the pocket he can run a little bit on zone read and he can throw on the run better than jamis the third point is jamis doesn't look right something looks off he doesn't look like the player we saw against the lions last year from an arm standpoint i don't know what it is it could just be it was bad weather and a small sample size but at least now you have some insurance at the cost of a fifth round pick so from that standpoint it's interesting from a fantasy standpoint i wouldn't look too much into this i do think jj could play this year if jamis continues to play bad and they don't win games he could play i just don't think it will necessarily matter the offense will look very much like the dart offense but just without any upside to it it'll just be a ball control uh type of offense yeah as far as neighbors goes we'll talk about him in a little bit i don't want jj mccarthy to be the quarterback for neighbors it's very bad potentially i mean it would mean that jamis has been so bad that that he hasn't been good for neighbors probably and then mccarthy's coming in i'd rather just jamis start playing better it was really bad weather this i i really think this is almost an end of the line week for the giants passing game if they can't figure it out against the cardinals this week i'm gonna have very little hope for them going forward they'll have washington the next week like the next two weeks they've got to get something going in the right direction it's uh it's getting late early for the giants passing game but i think we can talk are we gonna talk neighbors now or later no we'll do it in just a bit um so the running back news we got two a chans hurt devon's out for the year and travis has the hamstring injury the commander signed all about jefferson did we get to him no not yet okay uh the commander signed austin eckler which is interesting because rashad white left with a shoulder injury but then i believe he came back but we'll see if that uh is related in any way um jadarian price okay this was an embarrassing thing for me i did not see this uh that he got benched for fumbling yesterday yes i'm sitting there going why did was the snap count so low why did all these guys get all these plays and fumble i also think there was a play where with emmanuel wilson a first i think it was a first and goal where he try to bounce to the outside and he got caught and i just like jadarian price probably scores on that play this is so stupid but they don't care he fumbles the ball i mean he's made a lot of rookie mistakes already and we're at the point now adam where we're nearing the charbonnet return yeah which could be really interesting for fantasy if price has another one of these fumbles that cost them or at least in the mind of the coaching staff potentially came close to costing them the game it certainly flipped the momentum of that game at the time price fumbled it could be more of a one-man show than i think anyone's expecting depending on how charbonnet returns from this because it's not like there's limitations for these players when they come back from the acl there's oftentimes production misses and they and they take a drop a drop back from or i'm sorry they drop off from the standpoint of production but from a playing time standpoint you see a lot of these guys come back from the acl and play their normal complement of snaps and this is the second straight game of the season and i think it's going to be a lot of fun and i think it's going to be a lot of fun and i think it's going to be a lot of fun and i think it's going to be a lot of fun and i think it's going to be a lot of fun and i think it's going to be a lot of fun with the fumble for jadarian price so this is this is important for sure um tajay spears left with an ankle injury he came back but he's probably going to be on the injury report this week tajay spears uh bucky irving he dave showed me a clip of his last snap where he got absolutely smashed in pass protection and i'm wondering if bucky irving is hurt that was early in the fourth quarter and that was the last time he played that's one to monitor and breeze hall again we're not going to know until wednesday i think on breeze hall unless some reporter leaks something i don't know um there's another player who was uh benched it seems that was brian thomas jr he played less than 40 of the snaps he had a couple of drops the previous week and the the recap i read made it seem like he was sort of being punished for that so it's hard for me to sit here and tell you to keep brian thomas jr on your team we got mike evans leaving with the ribs injury all right what do you want to talk about with justin jefferson he's got the ankle no i just want to see if there was an update yet on the ankle after the game koc said that he could have potentially tried to come back and was trying to maybe it's nothing serious i don't know but it was a close game and they didn't try to bring him back in so i'm definitely concerned on that one yeah and hey jackson dart once upon a time was supposed to come back in the game right uh don't bring that back up uh xavier hutchinson left with an injury which i didn't realize and jaylen coker left in the third quarter with a quad injury but he got good news coker got good news he's going to be day to day i really hope he plays this week against the lions you want to start everyone against the lions but buy so i think with coker probably looking at at most based on the report this morning a one week absent at absence at most we have jack besh with a broken arm unfortunately we have tyreek hill tweeting that it's almost time to get off the couch and get to work all right tyree i saw that yeah uh jaylen mcmillan where's he going what's that where's he going chiefs a lot of teams could use them chiefs will be fun the way mahomes is playing right now and garrett wilson clear to the so he's okay terence ferguson with the ankle injury a lot of offensive line stuff here oh yeah baltimore with their centers new england lost right guard greg van roten after losing their right tackle last week yeah we'll talk about that later on the four tie they lose their right tackle last week or their right guard last week uh i was saying he might have played and he might have been playing he was their guard last year but i thought he was playing right tackle for them this year wasn't ready um let me just take a look i'm not exactly sure if he was playing right guard still for them or if he was moved to right tackle all right no you're right he was he was their right guard um still they still have morgan moses as right tackle okay yeah no i had said tackle as well but then dave corrected me yeah it was right carolina offensive guard damian lewis left with an elbow injury and caroline actually had some bad news too because um not only did damian lewis leave but uh they had dante jack they had uh sorry mike jackson leave with a groin injury and jc horn their star cornerback is going but it seems like gonna go on ir with a quad injury uh you've got let's see brian burns out for the season did that look like a metlife turf one it's another one of these where after the game john harbors like i think we got lucky and we avoided the worst all of a sudden you hear the news the next day and he's out this is to the giants most four indispensable players out for the season in week three so brutal i don't know if it's the turf i don't know if it was a compensation injury that happens sometimes when you're playing through an injury but it's bad man washington lost linebacker leo chenal yes for the season it's a big one and you look at again and the cowboys are super beat up and those three nfc east teams the giants cowboys commanders are three teams that you want to stream against those right look like great matchups all right i'll skip that all right let's get into the snap the snap counts and the routes and and the tape and the topics you want to start you want me to start you can start all right here's some stuff you need to know cam scataboo ran nine routes on third down you can start all right here's some stuff you need to know cam scataboo ran nine routes on third down it was a terrible day for the giants but for cam scataboo managers you got great usage for omari and hampton managers you did not this guy is there's a lot of red flags here for hampton now he still gets a ton of carries and he gets a lot of work near the goal line and he could score but he played 42 of the snaps he ran 16 of the routes he has five he has three targets in three games omari and hampton and his route participation rate was about 30 each of the first two two weeks it was 16 yesterday maybe it's gonna be more like 30 but they're not using him in the passing game omari and hampton is uh is trouble right now and he likes to run up the middle and guess what they're facing the seahawks and i watched what the seahawks did this morning to uh this morning i watched the tape of what they did to the commander's interior offensive line and they ripped it apart and i am not excited about omari and hampton this week against seattle or week four yeah now you have three running backs who took advantage of injuries and played at least eight percent of the snaps which is a massive number by comparison jameer gibbs played 69 of the snaps chuba hubbard aaron jones and jaylen warren all played at least 80 of the snaps warren played 90 it's hard to get away from that usage um not a great week for david montgomery but i think look i wouldn't buy low or anything but i wouldn't panic on montgomery it's going to be an up and down player he's still unless they just start giving woody marks more snaps but right now montgomery ran a lot of runs and he's going to be an up and down player he's going to be an up and more routes played two-thirds of the snaps woody marks played about a third of the snaps it was the goal line stuff that was really annoying zay flowers played one-third of the snaps and had more than 100 total yards it was insane how good he was and remandre stevenson played more snaps than travion henderson all right you're up down okay so i'm not going to do a jacob impression shout out jacob gibbs i don't i don't think i have it in me today i need to practice but i'll take some of the awesome stats that he's put out there and then i'll combine with some of these other um stats that i've found so the first one is jacob gibbs and then the second one is the first one i thought was really interesting that he put out there was tyler warren had 10 targets and a 29 target share you think about what this colts offense is going to look like post alec pierce and this is what you want if you drafted tyler warren you want it to look more like they're trying to get him involved as a key cog in their passing game versus what it looked like a lot last season and the first two weeks which was just kind of those gimmicky plays those design plays for warren you don't want it to all be design plays you want it to be like this so i thought that was very good for him another player that you've hinted on but had a break out week three that needs to be discussed michael wilson there was talk last week from jacoby brissett you know he said why are you guys keep asking me questions about marvin harrison jr when we just signed re-signed michael wilson and it's not happening with him either well it seems like there might be a little bit of a better connection there with wilson and brissett than there is marvin harrison jr 34 target share for wilson in week three 50 air yarded share and he was the wide receiver four in fantasy so that's really important and really interesting he could be a guy moving forward we saw it last season he was basically a league winner obviously maybe he does emerge again as this every week player at wide receiver josh downs jacob gibbs his favorite my favorite two on film but i never loved him as much for fantasy a little bit riskier there well he had 172 air yards in week three his previous career high was 111 it's clear that the new role they have for downs is not just going to be this whip route role where you just throw him the wandell robinson type routes around the line of scrimmage they're using him in different ways and they're happy they pretty much have to with alec pierce injured they have to find a way to more explosive intermediate and vertical plays with what they have on offense and it's a good sign that right away it was josh downs that really excites me a few other things i thought were interesting about week three drake london really good news for drake london throughout the first two weeks jacob and i discussed this a bunch on beyond the box score adam it was like uh-oh he lost his coaching staff he lost zach robinson are they just gonna line him up at x and have him run routes from there no that wasn't the case in week three tommy reese new offensive coordinator started to get him moving he had to get him moving he had to get him moving he had to get him moving ten routes as the x split n nine at z and then seven from the slot so they moved him around they used him in three different roles and they basically used him in a way like we saw last season during the michael pennix error which was essentially the focal point of the passing game completely i'm very excited about drake london moving forward as long as michael pennix is the quarterback the minute pennix gets hurt or gets moved back out it's like a total drop off and what you can expect from this guy it's insane his splits with him without pennix over the last two seasons and he's going to be a great player and he's going to be a great player and he's going to obviously this season being a small sample size are absolutely nuts the packers had an interesting uh breakdown i wanted to use you saw the biggest um opportunity for caleb johnson that he's had so far since being traded to the packers 47 percent uh opportunity share 27 percent route share which was interesting um and 40 percent of the total running back snaps that could be a change we see moving forward with the packers leaning more into caleb johnson not sure it will matter because they're running their offensive line is so bad they're not going to be able to win the game so bad that i'm just not and you've got the josh jake like josh jacobs could come back i'd rather have a dolphins running back than caleb johnson okay and i think that's i think you're right for bringing it up but yeah and i think that's completely fair because generally speaking i have little to no faith in their offensive line and i think that's the biggest problem i think if you're a chase brown manager adam you're probably pissed about how the start of the season has gone like what the heck is happening but i think it's coming man because he still had a 70 even this week against the pittsburgh sealers he still had a 75 opportunity share 62.5 percent route share which is really good if you look across the nfl and then almost 90 of the two minute running back snaps they don't take him out in those two minute drills i just feel like the pace and the game script hasn't been exactly what you want here but the tds are going to come and so i think when you look at that route share being as high as it is and the involvement overall you just look at him as somebody who needs the touchdowns to kind of pay back some of the value invested in and i think it'll be there um you mentioned chuba hubbard you mentioned chuba hubbard and i think it'll be there um you mentioned chuba hubbard still amazing stuff for him from an opportunity standpoint even though he didn't have as good a game he's one of the true bell cows right now in the nfl 82 opportunity share 70.6 percent route share and all of the two minute running back snaps 80 of the third down work and 90 of the overall pass catching work at running back uh for chuba hubbard um and shout out zane dahani for some for these numbers by the way okay yeah he scored 15 fantasy points chuba hubbard so that's if that's a bad day you know you're gonna it's a bad day for him at this point honestly yeah that's how good we're course back at this point you hubbard it's crazy to say we're here but like you mentioned earlier with the discouraging splits with the marion hampton we're at a point where like somehow chuba hubbard might be a better weekly play than a player like 100 i mean i'm certainly which is crazy but like yeah i mean there's just not that many guys getting this kind of role um the last one i wanted to touch on was just and this is again shout out zane dahani for these numbers the last one i want to touch on was the patriots backfield because everybody was kind of asking us about that this week after last week switch up i still think it's going to be hard to predict adam we had remandre with 52.6 percent opportunity share henderson 47.4 remandre with bet with a higher route share um one of uh one rush inside the 10 yard line 80 of the two minute drills so it does still feel like you're probably making a better bet with remandre from a opportunity standpoint from a playing time standpoint and from a volume standpoint but at the same time i almost still feel better starting henderson on a daily basis because he could actually break off an explosive run and change the whole and just win you the week based on that i don't necessarily feel that way with stevenson i will say this having watched this patriots offense on tape this week to prepare for our question about drake may i don't feel overly confident at all about having anyone on that offense this season which is crazy because last season it was such a point factory their offensive line is in a really bad standpoint when these teams start that when this starts to happen i talked about earlier with the backers and now with the patriots you start to see these breakdowns on the offensive line and injury here and injury there for a team that just simply can't afford it from a depth standpoint and those two teams qualify you can start to see some real breakdowns from an offensive standpoint i think we're headed there with patriots i think we're already there with the packers i've got a you know i've got an issue i guess with a lot of the offensive line talk because i do feel like we i do it too looking at the chargers for example i mean the chargers offensive line is the worst that i've seen obviously i haven't seen that much but it's to me it's worse than the packers it's embarrassing not to me okay maybe the packers but it's definitely worse than the patriots at least the patriots pass protection i didn't watch the runs i watched the dropbacks for drake may and i didn't think the offensive line was the issue um i just thought like there's no talent on this team and they don't get open at all and there were a couple of plays that could have been touchdowns which we'll show a little bit later for drake may yeah um yeah i don't know i mean i feel like we explain away a lot of issues by just saying offensive line but usually there's something deeper there and with the offensive line i think it's a good idea to just say offensive line but usually there's a good idea to just say offensive line but usually there's something deeper there and with the patriots they just they have one of the worst receiving cores in football there is no getting around no one gets separation yeah no one and drake may is making really bad decisions too i think maybe he's getting a little impatient um you know what forget it let's just go i know it's a big topic we can talk about it right now let's look at this couple of plays yeah there's actually one screenshot here's demario douglas streaking wide open he's going oh and then he's going yeah because that's you know that to me is a is also a partly a receiver problem this guy's five foot six or whatever seven eight and he doesn't have a wingspan to make this ball like just hits the tip same thing with the the holland's catch like the the red zone throw to collins i thought that was a pretty good throw on the move by may but just doesn't have the receiver who can make that play and then did you see the the kyle williams play yes i mean kyle williams should have had a touchdown he's just stepped out of bounds i mean inexplicably he just he hit the sideline you can't do that yeah so yeah again it's like kind of what we did with the chargers last week could have been a good thing but i think it's a good thing could have been this could have been that it could have been a two touchdown day for drake may if things went right but that's it that's all it could have been i mean it wasn't like there were a ton of opportunities out there he didn't throw that many passes he threw a terrible interception in the end zone terrible he threw another really bad interception to a guy that was just blanketed in coverage and i'm thinking go man this he just must be so frustrated because no one's open no one is open and you know i i looked at like i watched the steelers game last week against the patriots to try to see what is going on and they faced a really good defense they faced new england and no one was open and i'm not surprised they had a better game against the bangles i think the bangles probably gonna have a good run defense i'm not sure about their past defense sure you gotta and the jaguars are good like jaguars i think have a solid defense so the patriots really stunk here but they might have more games like that and that is like you know unless you watch the tape you can't really diagnose it but that was my takeaway for drake may i think he's droppable um you know he's making bad decisions he has a 7.5 interception rate which is insane but um does he have easier matchups he's got buffalo las vegas the jets and the bears and the dolphins coming up these are for the most part they're pretty damn good matchups i mean maybe not great but these are matchups that you want whereas like herbert has horrible matchups and it's easy to drop him what do you think should we drop drake may or hang on well part of it is also like the scrambling has gone down to an extent he's not getting as many points with the run uh running which i think will actually go up because i i was a little i felt a little bit differently from watching the tape the ultimate just got done with it about the old line i thought there were plenty of moments where the offensive line had immediate breakdowns and may had to immediately step off his his landmark but isn't that like every offensive line no we can't expect offensive all right i feel like it's just not it's just simply not like you watched the rams last night you watched the broncos last night i saw them under pressure quite a bit i mean not to the extent of like the immediate pressure that puts you off your landmark like stafford's throwing 55 times a game a lot of those times it's from the landmark he plants on and tries to throw from within the pocket like right like that's it and it kills the timing and that happened a bunch of times with may but it's not all the offensive line it's not even close to i would say 30 o-line 60 you know let's say 30 o-line last game from the tape 40 wide receivers not getting open and then a good you know 30 was drake may just and i don't even want to say it's like because he'll he had one throw to demario douglas and was a 38 yarder in the second quarter where he he he's plants at the right he plants from the right hash mark and throws a field side throw opposite hash mark dimes it in between two coverage guys the demario douglas and it's like that's the drake may i saw all of last year but then he also has the decisions that you're talking about that are bad both interceptions the one in the end zone was inexplicable the other one he tries to throw like a comeback route but like you said he was blanketed in coverage and the corner had had leverage on the on the receiver to the point where you shouldn't be making that throw decision making is really bad he'd also watched the pass rush multiple times i saw which is bad that's when you know you start to not trust your offensive line it kind of screws up the whole timing and the rhythm of the passing game so i think there's everything going wrong there the receivers don't get open drake may is not playing as confidently and the i think the offensive line was paying bad so is there is it droppable yeah probably because where are we getting the points from with may if he's not scrambling as much and getting as many points off the ground and there's not as many receivers with the ability to make explosive plays in this offense there's just not going to be a lot of touchdown opportunities okay well it's it would be an easier call if i didn't like some of the upcoming matchups but i yeah the personnel is just not that good right now so look you got you you can't be taking bad games from your quarterback like it's just too many damn good quarterbacks right now you can't and it depends on your league right like you have a big bench where you can just bench may of course then then you never cut him but if you're in one of these leagues like four or five bench spots and one quarterback starts every week it's probably okay to cut him right now because you're getting more production even from like a geno smith off your waiver wire okay we're gonna take a break do a little bit more in terms of i want to tell you about some of the interesting route participation rates and then we'll we definitely have to talk about the raiders you already talked about michael wilson but i've got a few more stats on michael wilson i'd like to drop on you and we'll be right back on fft okay some noteworthy route participation rates casey concepcio 95 pretty good 64 65 and week one 74 in week two he ran 95 of the routes in week three that's casey concepcion how about these tight ends who ran 89 or more of the routes brock bowers isaiah likely and george kittle who's your tight end one rest of season oh tight end one rest of season i how could it not be brock bowers i i mean this is what i had to argue with last night i i just don't understand what trey mcbride has to do to get the respect respect respect He deserves- You would trade Brock Bowers for Trey McBride right now? If you had that opportunity, I would. Wow. You would, do you? Oh, wow. Okay. Um, so that's just, maybe that's, you know, maybe that could just be how we view it differently. Like McBride's a safer bet, I suppose. Um, but Bowers can win you a league. The way McBride can't win you a league. Not to the extent where Bowers can not even close. I mean, Trey McBride, Trey McBride was a league winner. Like no, like basically we've never seen before with volume that was never seen before. He's got, he's got 34 targets in three games. He's getting more targets now than he got last year. He ran more routes, a hundred more routes in the next tight end last season. He's getting more targets. Marvin Harrison Jr. is invisible. He's getting more targets this year than he got last year. And the year before. I mean, the volume is there for Trey McBride. The volume has no chance of reaching what it did last season where he ran a hundred more routes than any other tight end. His tar, I bet you his target per out run rate is higher than it was last year. It may be, but it's not about that. If he's not running the same amount. The routes from a volume standpoint, which is impossible because it broke a record. Um, and it was based on, you know, the volume that the Cardinals played with last season, the pace, the fact that they were out of all these games and they were playing crazy catch up, which isn't happening so far to the first three games. And yet, and, and, and probably will start happening by the way. And yet Trey McBride has 34 targets. He has eight or more catches in every game. I mean, I, he's a, he's, he's definitely the tight end too. That's clear. Um, I just think Bowers. Yeah. The way they used him was, was spectacular. Last, last game. I just saw a breakdown of from Ben Solak. He basically wasn't even used as a tight end. He was split out as an X. He was used as the big slot. It was everything you hoped he would be with Kubiak. It was what we hoped he would be last season, but with an actual coach who knows how to coach football. And he was a total mismatch in every single sense of the way. He ran a back shoulder with cousins outside as an X. They used him in the red zone to almost had a two touchdowns in the red zone. Should have had two touchdowns in a red zone cousins last year. Proved he knows how to use these tight ends. And then this year, cousins arm looks way better. Like just simply put his shoulder looks completely healed. He's throwing the football. Well, I think he's a better timing quarterback than Jacoby reset. I think he's a more accurate quarterback than Jacoby reset. And I think if Bauer stays healthy, he's going to be one of the three or four. Like, how could you not think he's going to be one of those valuable players in fantasy football? After what we saw? I didn't say that. I just think Trey McBride's better. I would just take Bride over him because of the safety maybe. And that's fair. I just, I don't think it's just safety. I think Trey McBride is, again, he can't have the upside of a Bowers. You don't think I don't understand that. I think he's going to get more targets than Brock Bowers. I don't know how, because he's got 34 targets in three games. And last year he averaged like 10 targets per game. I, I don't use Bowers like a total focal point mismatch receiver in this offense. He was basically just used as a receiver. Yes. I don't know that that's necessarily a good thing. I mean, we've seen like Kyle Pitts struggle a little bit in that regard. And then they finally made him more of a tight end and gave him a lower a dot. And like Bowers made some incredible catches yesterday. And I think, you know, he, he's so good. And, um, he's definitely, they're definitely tight ends one and two, but, um, I don't know. The chat thinks a side bet might be brewing. Is your, is your side bet with Heath debt at this point due to all the injuries and crap? No, it's fully. What is it based on a per game basis? I think to win the bet, your guy has to win full season and per game. Okay. I will do a McBride Bowers bet if you want. Yeah. Okay. Fine. I'm not growing any beard here or anything. I got my, you know, I'm going to turn my unibrow and all that stuff. What could we do? What can we do for the listeners? That would be fun. We have to think of something. I don't know. By the way, I'm doing a Twitter poll as we speak. And Brock Bowers is 58% of the vote. All right. Let us know in the comments what Adam and I need to bet on here. Uh, that will be funny for you guys. And Adam will accept it. Because, you know, Adam doesn't like accepting these things. Everyone remembers the line in the head where his wife had an important phone call somehow at 930. Which, by the way, this pisses me off so much. The gall that you have to bring this up. When you actually met her in person and asked her about it. She's such a lovely person, too. She confirmed it to you. She confirmed it. All of this is true. Are you calling her a liar? Go ahead. Say she's a liar. No, that's the type of person who would never lie. I can just read that off her from one meeting. The only thing is what, you know, you're right. There's no real way around this. I thought maybe you set her up like, hey, Dan's going to ask you a question because you know me so well. He's going to ask you about this. Can you just say that you had an important. It just seems so weird that at 930 p.m. she would have an important phone call. Why? Where she couldn't come in. Why is that weird? I don't know who has an important call. I don't know. I just feel like I've never had an important phone call at 930 p.m. But maybe other people. A wife cannot testify against. True. Good point, actually. Good point by Thomas here. All right. We've got to get back to this stupid show. I will do a Bowers-McBride with you, though, if we can think of something. Because on a per-game basis, I'd be shocked if McBride can outscore Bowers. You'd be shocked if McBride. Shocked. Okay. The way they used Bowers yesterday, shocked. And the way they used McBride is just what? Like, he just stinks? No. He's the tight end, too. He's the next best guy. All right. More route stuff. Malik Neighbors only ran 77% of the route. He is not. Like, you want receivers to be running 90% of the routes. He hasn't been there yet. DJ Moore, 74.2%. I'd like to see that a little higher. Uh, Stephon Diggs, 77%. That's a good thing. Okay. Let's talk about Neighbors and anyone else you watched on tape. But what did you see from Neighbors who had five catches for 26 yards against the Titans? That is six catches for 27 yards in the last two games combined. Sure. So, a few things on Neighbors' front. There was the play, um, where I finally saw it from, you know, a really throwback to Brian D'Abel, Neighbors' rookie 2024 season, where it's essentially a play designed to clear out space and get Neighbors to cut underneath. Catch the football and have a runway. And he was this close to housing it. And I saw that, like, initial burst. And I was like, this is the closest thing I've seen to Neighbors this year. Other than that, there were a lot of clear-out routes with Neighbors. And then there were a lot of moments, Nick and I talked about this early in the game, where Neighbors did one of these to Jameis. Because he got open twice on third downs with great releases off the line of scrimmage. Jameis didn't either, didn't see him, didn't think to go to him. And Neighbors started to do this, which we hadn't seen in a while. It's a bad sign. I think it's part of why the Giants made a trade for McCarthy to be honest. We'll see how that progresses. But right away after that, you can see Jameis went to him twice, but they were both really short routes. This is a hard game to judge on, Adam, because the Giants really, and I mean truly, this is one of the most conservative game plans I've ever seen run by a Giants team since the Joe Judge era, where they famously ran the ball to a victory formation on third and nine, which got Joe Judge fired almost immediately. But I don't want to take too much from it, but at the same time, I think it's hard to get enthused about Neighbors with the current Giants quarterback situation and with the way that they're trying to win football games, because this is a game plan that yes, was partly in place because of the weather. But I think going in, this is kind of what they wanted to do, because on the first possession, Jameis Winston almost threw a pick six. He was very lucky to not. He basically made his mind up that he was throwing a Beckham on an in cut, and he was this close to being intercepted by Hooker. Pick six on the play. So I don't know how aggressive they're going to be, which is a good without dart in at quarterback, which really will impact Neighbors. But he looks fine to me. The release off the line of scrimmage look great, and the burst look great on that one place. I don't think he's injured or anything like that. I just don't love the situation for Neighbors. Tell me if you agree with this. I thought he looked really fast. Like, yes, like you said, burst speed. Good. I haven't seen a lot of those really sharp cuts and breaks on his routes to get him open. I'm not seeing those types of moves. I don't know maybe if it's a knee thing or not, but I haven't really seen him run any in cuts. I guess that's part of it. Like the routes that he were running were clear out space routes, stop routes. He ran, I guess I'll say this on that route. I was talking about where he had that burst post caps. It was a 10 yard game, but it was close to going for the house. He did have to sharp. He had on his release off the line of scrimmage. You had to make a sharp, you had to sell the vert and then and make a sharp cut to kind of, I guess create that separation. But you're right. It hasn't been a lot of deep in cuts. It hasn't been a lot. There was no slants or anything like that so far. So it is something to keep an eye on. All right. It's not great. And I, like I said, it's, it's got to happen pretty soon. If we're going to have confidence in Malik neighbors, I'm basically going to start him this week, but the Cardinals are giving up third most fantasy points, fourth most fantasy points to receivers. The commanders the following week are giving up the most points. Then the saints are 12th. And then believe it or not, Houston is 31st against wide receivers. And I'm not going to buy that. So I will, we'll give him a little more leeway. I guess I wanted, I know we get a lot of questions about the chargers. I don't want to bring up the chargers every week, but lad McConkey, you know, I, there's a, there's something I don't like about the lab McConkey profile right now. And these things can change, but through three games, his average route depth is way up. He's playing in the slot a lot less. And if you look at his yards per outrun, lad McConkey in all three of his seasons, including this short one here, it's better out wide every year than it is in the slot. However, you know, I guess there's a little bit difference. Like when you're not out, when you're out wide 35% of the time compared to 65% of the time, whatever, but it's that rate is 28.6%. Oh, it was 28.6% this past week. It was 56% week one, 39% week two, 28.6% and week three. So weird usage there, but the, the, this is not a guy that I think should be running downfield this much, especially when the offensive line is so bad and Justin Herbert doesn't really have time for these plays to develop. So I like for them to get easier plays for him, and Last season, Ladd McConkie had 44 targets of five or fewer air yards. This year, he has one. So it's just like it's not working. I hate this role. It could work. Okay, example would be Devontae Smith. Devontae Smith has had a higher average route depth. He's more of a downfield guy. Struggled in week one. Huge week two. But a lot of big plays, a lot of air yards. You're not going to get a lot of that with this crap Chargers offense. So I think they've got to manufacture easier touches for McConkie. Until they do that, it's a little scary. Yeah, I think you're 100% right. And I think that that offense is scary, to say the least. It's not fitting well for Herbert at all, which is crazy with McDaniel. I thought I'd see more of the old McDaniel offense when he had Waddle and Tyreek. Not what we got in recent years when he had the dead arm Tua. Who couldn't, you know, he couldn't trust to drop back. Is it because they don't trust the offensive line to hold up? Maybe. But everything seems, A, bad from a procedural standpoint. They take a ton of pre-snap penalties, this Chargers offense. And they have a ton of around the line of scrimmage stuff where the timing is just off. The blocking is not there and it just doesn't work. But B, like, you're taking, it reminds me of like what happened with Herbert at Oregon. And I forget who their coach was. It might have been your coach from Miami. I think it was your coach. Chris. Chris DeBall. Did he coach him? Pretty sure it was. All right. I mean. Pretty sure Chris DeBall coached him. No, it wasn't Chip Kelly's offense. Oh, yeah. It probably was Chris DeBall. I think it was Chris DeBall. I don't remember who the OC was, but everything was horizontal. And that's kind of why he fell to six overall. And he's a vertical quarterback. And maybe they don't trust the offensive line. They can't. That's the thing. Like, McConkie's a vertical receiver right now, but I don't think he can be with this. I look at it. I was like, every single week it's going to be bad. But it's harder with this line. It looks that way, dude. It looks bad. No, I mean from McConkie. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, every week it's probably going to be bad for the Chargers. It's really bad. This is the offense I'm most wrong about for this season. It's really disappointing. Seattle, Denver, Chiefs, bye, Rams, Texans, Ravens. That does not instill confidence. The schedule is ridiculously hard. How about Rasheed Rice? I watched Rasheed Rice, and I'd love for you to take a look at some point. And I'd love to know what you think on Rasheed Rice. I thought in the first quarter, maybe the first half, he looked really good. He looked fast again. They gave him a screen pass. Which. They haven't really been doing much. I thought in the second half he looked super slow again. Not super slow, not super slow. But it almost looked like he was laboring out there. And then, again, I went back and I watched just a few plays of his catches from last year. And some of the moves he was making and hopping around. And just Rasheed Rice, I didn't see that in the second half of this game. But I think maybe we're getting some progress where it's getting better every week. That's my hope. Rasheed Rice had seven catches for 88 yards on nine targets. No other player had more than three targets for the Chiefs. He had a 34-yard catch in the fourth quarter where he was wide open. And then the next play was a little bit more vintage Rice. It was a 15-yard catch and run on a line. I think it was a linebacker. But, yeah, I mean, I was hoping for more. And I saw it at the beginning. And he did not sustain that throughout the game. So, would love to hear what you guys think later in the week on Beyond the Box score. Yeah, we'll take a look at Rice. That's a big one that Jacob has discussed. I haven't had a chance to watch his tape from yesterday, though. All right. And time now for our three big topics. We already covered Drake May. We covered Michael Wilson a little bit. I'll just add this for Michael Wilson. You know, look, Jacoby Brissett, 52 pass attempts. So, that's 17 targets for Michael Wilson. His target share, however, the last two weeks has been 27% or better, which is great. You know, we could be getting a little ahead of ourselves, like, if we call him a must-start. I'm going to start him this week against the Giants. But he didn't have any red zone, green zone, or end zone targets. And that's a good thing. That's a good thing. That's a good thing. This week, he had five red zone targets, two green zone, four end zone targets. He also caught, Michael Wilson caught three screen passes. And I love, you can hear me say it a lot. I love it. They're cheap fantasy points. Those three screen passes were probably about five fantasy points for you. He caught three screen passes in this game. He caught two last season. So, that's not a thing we usually get from him. I'd love for them to start giving him more layups like that. But listen, Arizona had the ball for more than 37 minutes and two of their three games so far. That's not sustainable. Like I said, the screen passes were kind of a pleasant surprise. I'm not sure if we have a must-start. I don't think we have a must-start guy in Michael Wilson. But I wouldn't rule it out. Dan gave some really encouraging stuff. I know Jacob's encouraged by it. At least you can feel good about a late-round pick here. Like, you got an asset here in Michael Wilson. And he's had seven or more targets in every game. Right. Let's talk about the Raiders to finish the show. Yeah. Again, 26 points or more in all three games. They did not do that one time. In regulation last year. They're eighth in points per game. They're only 22nd in yards per play. They were 14th in yards per play yesterday, including the Thursday game. And that was their only game with Bowers. Most important thing for them, they're first in pace. They're the fastest team in football right now, which is a little weird because last year, Kubiak and the Seahawks were 22nd in pace. Some red flags, Dan. 28th in big play rate. The teams with a lower big play rate than. This Raiders team. Cardinals, Browns, Giants, Bucks. Now, the Cowboys are one spot ahead of them, so that's good, I guess. But for the most part, teams in the bottom 10 in big play rate are not good offenses. Like, the teams that are currently bottom 10. They're middle of the pack in red zone efficiency. They're fifth worst in goal-to-go efficiency. The schedule is about to get a little tougher, I think. Chiefs, Patriots, Bills, Rams. But all that said, like, they're not doing well in the red zone. They're not making big plays. They're not doing well in the goal-to-go. And they're eighth in points per game, so they must be doing something right. What do you think about the Raiders? Yeah, we talked a little bit about it with Bowers, but I think to start the show, the most important thing about this offense is what you said, the pace is up. And maybe that's in part because they're still kind of feeling like they're developing this offensive line out a little bit, and there's new faces. But their offensive line is playing well within this structure, within the pace. And I think part of that is just getting these matchups for Bowers. That's what it looked like to me when I watched them. The whole offensive design was to get Bowers in a matchup where he could win. And that happened over and over and over again. I'll say this. He's taken a lot of crap, but I think Kirk Cousins is playing phenomenal football right now. In my mind, he throws with better anticipation than just about all but, like, 10 quarterbacks. And it's probably, like, five, to be honest, when it comes to timing, rhythm, getting the ball in on time. And then accurately, he had issues in Atlanta where, and I heard about this, where his shoulders. Like, he had a shoulder injury that really impacted how he drove the football and threw the football. And he was not a quarterback that could afford to give up any velocity because he doesn't have that much to begin with. But right now, the arm looks pretty good. And maybe that's combined with him seeing it well, being coached by somebody like Kubiakou again, took Sam Darnold and, in my opinion, had him playing even better football than Kevin O'Connell had him playing. Different football, but better football. He won the Super Bowl with him. And it's similar in this regard to how they're running the offense through Bowers, just like it was through JSN. And that helps for a quarterback like Cousins to have things to find. I even saw moments where they were using Bowers as a great option to clear out space to then hit Mayer underneath. And this two tight end set is really working well for them, this 12 personnel grouping. Cousins is playing great football right now. There's just no other way to, like, say it. If you watch the tape, he's throwing on time. He's throwing accurately. He's seeing the field really well. And he's playing within this scheme really well. So maybe it'll change in tougher matchups. I don't know. They have the Chiefs coming up, right? That's going to be a difficult matchup against Spats. He's going to blitz them. He's going to play press man. And we'll see if it'll work out. But certainly, everything you've seen so far should have you excited about the state of this Raiders offense, except for Jenty. That's my take. Yes, let's talk about that, right? Because just to put a bow on the passing game, as well as Cousins is playing, I think it's going to be a little while before we really fully trust them in a one quarterback league. Sure. Bowers is, obviously, we agree, tight end two rest of season. One. And Trey Tucker, I actually think, you know, is going to have some good games. Only four targets in this game. But I would expect him to be second on the team in targets. And I wouldn't necessarily drop him. 35% started is about right for Trey Tucker. He's a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get with him. So let's talk about Ashton Jenty. What movie is that from? Just kidding. Oh, my gosh. He was really good against Miami. 23 carries, 102 yards. Also, six catches. 45 yards and two touchdowns. He plays a ton. He's very involved in the passing game. He has at least three catches in every game. He has at least 19 carries in every game. But right now, I mean, the yards per carry have been terrible the last two games against the Chargers and the Saints. He has a long of 15 yards. He also has six carries from inside the five-yard line and no touchdowns. His avoid rate, Ashton Jenty's avoid rate was 22.9% last season. It is 9.5% this season. We know. We know his yards before contact per carry last year was horrible. It was 0.60 yards before contact. Right now, it's 0.60 yards. Exactly the same. So, yeah, I mean, what do you think of Jenty? I think right now the question is, like, is he going to play, like, a first-rounder or a second-rounder? Because you're not going to sit him. He's getting too many touches. Or I'll throw a third-rounder in there. Is he going to play, like, a first, a second, or a third-rounder, Ashton Jenty? I think the floor is still completely there. It's going to be a worse second-rounder. round type production because he's getting volume when other guys are not he's getting involved in the passing game and most importantly as the third piece this is an offense that's scoring points that's because he's going to get touchdowns out of that the question is can he be a game breaker league winner like a kenneth walker type from this year's draft class um fantasy draft class i don't know if that's necessarily going to be the case but i think it's in play it's going to come down to him like we're at the point where he needs to play better football he needs to see it better he needs to process it better behind the line of scrimmage i think we've even heard this from him and the coaching staff and he'll he'll within that he'll get his opportunities because it's not like you can just point this to like uh well the raiders had the worst offensive line last year he got hit behind on his scrimmage more than any running back more yards after contact fewer yards before contact it's still developing line that could be the case but then you look at mike washington jr and it's like well then why is he finding so much production with limited sample size and limited touches um could it just be you know him he's getting the spell opportunities where the defense worn down i don't necessarily think that's the case from watching it i think washington is seeing the field and seeing this this zone run scheme a little bit better so i think genti needs to improve but the reality is if this is the negative adam we're like i feel confident in the offense scoring points i feel confident in his role i feel confident in his passing game role i'll bet on that versus the player um who has a ton of talent and could potentially play better everything is small sample sizes here but genti did i think it is worth pointing out he did have by far his lowest target per out run rate yesterday and he did have a lot of talent and he did have a lot of talent and he the only game he's played with brock bowers this season his target per out run rate was about 30 percent each of the first two weeks it was 13.6 percent this past week and he had three targets so he went from six targets to seven targets to three targets and kirk cousins is basically throwing the same amount of passes right around 30 each week so you know bowers being there probably takes some targets away but still if you get three targets a week that's i'd like to see more like four but if you can get three catches a week that's pretty good he should be able to do that be able to score some touchdowns like five carries from inside the six carries from inside the five yard line and no touchdowns is unusual uh i will say ken walker has five carries from inside the five yard line and no touchdowns but he has four runs longer than the longest run that ashton genti has this season now he lost a lot of weight changed his diet and wanted to be more explosive i think personally that he is more explosive and i feel like maybe a big run is coming i mean you'd have to think so he gets 20 carries a game but i don't know it just hasn't translated so far and then yeah watching all those goal line carries like a lot of times it's just i don't know it's not that impressive the whole operation so um maybe it's a buy low if people are looking at the last two games of 10.3 and 12.3 i expect him to average at least 15 points per game going forward you know um i think we're kind of on the same page like safe player if things get better potential for real for big upside yeah right but uh question from dinesh ashton genti or jordan love or jeremiah love in dynasty love for me in dynasty how about in redraft genti for sure oh man i mean the love had a promising obviously a promising week like ashton genti i'm sorry jeremiah love is going to be rb4 this week he's gonna kill the giant but he got everything i mean he got the catches he got the carries he got the goal line work it is all they turned it over to him this week for sure yeah yeah it's awesome it's just do you trust that offense there was one comment we got earlier today that i meant to bring up that i didn't um what a shame oh youtube youtube likes bauer 62 percent rest of season over mcbride what a shame that the game last night was decided by a terrible pass interference call yeah that's we should be able to review it we should be able to write it tried that and they did such a bad job executing it but it was fine they could have done it like i think it was a deandre hopkins play where we all saw we all knew what should have happened and they didn't get it right it's like how how right but we know what that that play last night was not pass interference right too important lost the game because of that terrible call and it was a great interception yeah should be able to review these things dan i agree you ready for yankees red sox tomorrow could care less about yankees red sox what do you care about you care about the giants those bums no i i've lost all care i mean i'm entering a very dark depressing time of my life with the giants with their
