Hi everybody and welcome to Rob Evans 365, it is day number 2983, it's a
beautiful morning, it was up really early this morning and today is, it's the
Tuesday and it's one of those, going to be one of those challenging days for me
because it's going to be a 14 and a half hour day from the time that I've
seen my first client to the time that I finished tonight so it's a it's a very
long day but I do have some time in between, obviously I'm getting out for a walk
between my next session and I've got some time to get my own work out in and
some time to get on my other business work done and to also take a bit of a break
from the work at the same time because I will not be able to be 100%
energized and focused for 14 and a half hours so we want to make sure that I get
that right but as I think about some of that and I think part of this is
due to my wisdom of age and thinking what's next and
next age and all that kind of stuff and I think about
what it means to bring out the not just the greatest version of
of yourself on a daily basis but also one of those things
that you really love doing on a daily and weekly basis that you could
bring more into your daily life because the what I see from
from most people is a lot of dissatisfaction in what it is that they're doing
on a daily basis like they're tolerating work they know that they need to go to
work to earn the money to pay for the things that they want to really be doing
and not really loving what it is that they do they tolerate it because they
know that the outcome is money but most people aren't working in their own
businesses and not super passionate about
the business of business
our most people are employees just making do and that's not a criticism
it's just a a nine fact and how do we how do we change that so that people
love more about what it is that they do
and I think the easiest starting point is to have a look at well
based on where you are given that we spend so much time
actually I'm just going to pause there it's I've just had a thought
it's not really interesting that the two biggest areas where we spend our
life are in a job like you think about the number of hours you spend in your
job on a daily basis a weekly basis and with your
the partner you need to partner who you live with
that is where we're spending most of our life and yet the majority of people
are not happy in either isn't that really interesting
now how do we change
that well I think first of all you've you've got to step up for you
and if you think about your your career like I started out as becoming a
chartered accountant and then now I'm running my own business I'm using the
skills that I learned through corporate and everything but I don't
do accounting anymore I'm coaching people
and that's much more fulfilling but it took like 19 years to work out
and to have enough courage I suppose to step away from the big corporate
wage and to try and make it on my own and now all these years later
like it's the greatest move ever I've grown so much as a result of that
and I would not have had the the growth of the development
if I had a state in corporate and the irony of that is I would be such a
better leader in corporate now because of what I've done outside of corporate
and how much I've grown myself and all the coaching that I've had
the better thinking like the strategic thinking
that I've developed because of that I'd be so much better on the inside
but that took a lot of courage to step away and do
what I've done but I just love it like it's what I'm supposed to do
I also had to make some really tough decisions in
relationships as well to step away from that was because they you know weren't
serving me in the the right way that sounds horrible to say that
that way which you know what I mean that's though this wasn't
I still get on well with the you actually were two
two of my own partners I just don't I wouldn't even know where they are
anymore
but everybody else I still get on well with
it's just sometimes things just don't you know don't work out between the two
people and that's okay it doesn't make it wrong it doesn't make me right
it's just the way the way that it is but then so you you you break through
some of that stuff and you know I just strongly encourage people to
chase what it is that they really love doing for a career
now if you're you're older and you think we're changing the career to something
completely different well I'm the ever too old type of stuff but
if we look outside of the the the work and the career side of things
you think about well what are those other things that you actually
really love doing what really lights you up and then how do you bring more of
that into your day now if say going on holidays all the time
you know dining out all the time drinking
you know regularly all that kind of stuff and you really love that
then I would say okay well that's that can be fine
but you're not going to be able to do that all the time
because dining out and drinking all the time is not going to be a particularly
empowering thing for your health and wellness and and so forth but
take the holiday for instance so what is it about the holiday
that you really enjoy and so well it might be the location it might be the
space it might be the peace and quiet it might be the
temperature the sunshine you know it could be a whole bunch of different
things I think the challenge is that we don't really break
down what the things that we love what it means to have fun and play etc
we don't define those with enough clarity
and we just kind of lump it all into well I just need a break and to get away
and you know go to Bali if you live in Australia or you know some tropical
location go north Queensland something like that
but there are actually aspects in every part of a whole day that you
you love that you can bring back to your everyday life
for instance a big one for me is about movement
right so what I do where my schedule allows it first thing in the morning
like I'm doing right now is I'll get out and I'll go for a walk
no go for walk in my environment here whether it's raining or it's cold
whatever now it's going to be a gorgeous day today it's going to be 24 the sun is
up there's not a cloud in the sky well actually there is over there
but pretty much no clouds in the sky freezing right now it's going to be 24
no breeze it's springtime walking along this like nice big long
street and they've got all these like blossom trees
plant it looks beautiful and when there's a little bit of breeze it's like
you're walking through the snow because they're all falling off and it's like
snowflakes it's really quite beautiful
now that's really lovely and it's peaceful and calm
I threw my estate now I'm about to turn right and go down the busiest
street that goes past my estate but it's peaceful it's calm it's safe
the weather is lovely and that this fills me up a lot
right now I can do that every day
so guess what I do it every day now the weather's not always the same
but I can still get out and I can get my movement in
so the movement's the important part
all right lovely now let's just say I enjoy walking by the ocean can I do
that well not without going for a bit of a drive for probably
30 minutes or so to get to some water
but I can do this part of it the other aspects that I really enjoy
when I'm on holiday as putting more time.
energy, focus into my own health and wellness. So how do I do that? Well, it
means I still do my three strength sessions a week at home. Sunday is my
favorite day. I have more time to do that one. But what I'm starting to do now,
like today's a good example, after 8.30 when my last client for the
morning finishes, I'm going to go to the gym, not particularly worry about the
time, but I thought it'd be there for about an hour. I'll do my workout, really
enjoy it. Come back home, feel myself, get on with the work in the next part of
my day. That is a really important part for me. Now, that's another element. Right?
For me, one of my challenges on a holiday is being able to find the food that I
really love, because it's easy to find food that doesn't suit my lifestyle,
but not to meet it. So again, guess what? I can have my healthy food on my
terms at home. So wow, isn't that nice? Another thing I love to do is read, and so
it's finding some space every day to do some reading of whatever it is. Sometimes
it might be just to magazines, other times it might be stuff online. Morning.
And other times it could be a book of some sort. So I just finished reading last
two books, and I'm in between books at the moment. So that's something that I
really enjoy as well. Right? Doing research, learning more about myself, my
communication style, other people's communication styles, is something really
good. Something I just did on Sunday, so I want to spend more time with my
own health and wellness and everything. And what I got thinking about this on the
weekend was a little bit like DNA. Think about crime scenes from decades ago,
where there was no DNA testing, but they kept the samples and everything, and
then when the technology exists, they used it to find out who the criminals
were. Now where I was thinking is I have like using AI, AI is becoming more and
more useful in terms of the things that I can look at than ever before. Now I
started capturing all of this data about myself into AI to create my, like to
work with it to create my next 12 week training, training block. And on that
process, what I thought, okay, well let's just load everything in here. So I went
back to like 1995 photos I found of myself. Like in like posing trunks if you're
actually at the old speedos. And that's what I looked like in 1995. I knew my, I
didn't have my measurements, but I knew my approximate body weight. All the, the
photos from when I did my 2020, 2021, getting that six pack look, putting in all
my measurements from back to I think 2009 that I had. And what was really
interesting was I had, I used to use a software called Dietmaster Pro. And I had
the backup files which are their dot RSD files. Right. So I used AI to say, look
can you read this because I, you need the app to be able to open it and said, let me
give it a go. And was able to extract all the information about myself from that
file. I thought, oh that is so cool. Now even 12 months ago, I couldn't have done
that with AI, but now I can. All my Alexa scans that I had available. I copied all
of those in as well. And so now you're just creating this database of all of this
information on which I can just draw down different things. And so we got into
conversations about, you know, like my waist measurements, ideal body weight, the
some coaching notes from my coach about my very last Dexascan results, etc, etc.
Like it was such a, such a really fun process for me because I'm left brain, facts,
numbers, statistics, I like to go detailed on a whole bunch of things. And when it comes
to myself, it's like, oh, well, I haven't done this sort of deep dive on this stuff for
quite some time. So again, for me, that's fun. Right. I love doing that kind of thing.
So that's something I did on Sunday. Right. So what I'm doing here in planning all these
seeds for you is how can I bring more of that into my life? I like working in a natural
natural light. Right. So one of the things that I do now is I have this lovely outdoor setting.
It's all undercover. I have a big outdoor area undercover. And whether, the weather like
today, for instance, by the time it gets to probably about 11 o'clock, it'll be warm
enough. I sit outside with my MacBook, the iPad, whiskers are somewhere nearby. And I can
sit out there for hours. And that's my office. Right. So guess what? One of the things that
I hate is just being in an office that doesn't have good natural light. Well, it's pretty
good natural light out where I'm sitting undercover. So again, that is something that I can bring
into my life, my outdoor office. I no longer have a traditional office. As most people tend
not to these days, most people tend to hot desk and they use laptops and work from home,
from a desk somewhere. And that's the way that I am. Like, I'm actually getting rid of
all my office furniture. I've gotten rid of the previous two screens that I used to have
in my office. Because I just have no need for it anymore. I just work differently. And
that just fills me up in doing the work. Even like today, I have a very, very long day,
but I enjoy the way that I work. And that's just a lot of fun. So my point here in having
this conversation is, it's having a look at what are those things that you can say pull
from. I use the holiday because that's what most people would see as being fun. And perhaps
having more of those things than people look forward to that so much. But then they come
back to the crushing reality of a, of a Tuesday, which is a long day sitting in an office
or, or doing the work, then going home trying to recover enough to get through the rest
of the week. But what if you actually incorporated some of those things that you really love?
And I'm not talking about just sitting down and watching TV and, you know, drinking beer
or whatever. I'm not talking about that because that's disempowering. I'm talking about
the other things. So you've got to think a little bit more broadly about what it is that
you really enjoy doing. And somewhere along the lines, maybe it means you've got to get
a new hobby. Start finding those things that you've never had time for before, but you
always have had the time since you haven't made the, at a priority. But now you could.
So why don't you? Because you've only got one shot, right? And you don't want to just
end up at a point in your life and say, yeah, I wonder what would have happened if I had
have done these things? Yeah, maybe life would have been more fun. Maybe I would have enjoyed
it more rather than just tolerate what comes at you on a daily basis. That's my approach.
Leave nothing to chance. Name it, claim it, do it, do it consistently. And you watch how
much your life improves. It's up to you. No one else is going to come along and say, hey,
here's your ideal life in a nicely gift box ribbon wrapped present. You've got to do it.
You've got to do the work. And on that note, you have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow.
