It is loaded with legendary basketball coaches from Bill Self, Tom Iso, Danny Hurley, Rick Batino. Those are the OGs, and then John Shire and on the younger end here, he's got his Duke team entering the tournament with 32 wins, riding in 11 game win streak. These five coaches have combined to win six national championships. The East Region features six of the top 15 programs in the country. Coach Seth Greenberg back with us. Also Joe Fortenbaugh here too. Which coach would you take in the East Region? If you could build your squad, who would you want leading you in March? To me, it's Tom Iso. I mean, I look at Tom Iso's body of work. I've watched Tom Iso in the Eastern Abyssal Tournament when they played in Tampa for their regional way, way, way back in the day. That preparation, the attention to detail, the manner in which they prepared for a game. He's terrific coming out of timeouts. He's forward thinking. He's creative. His program is built on player development. So he's got older, more mature teams that can kind of adjust and have the agility to make changes on the move. So I think Tom Iso says, good up coach. And if you had one game to play and one game to prepare for, not just his team. It's not just preparing your team. You're preparing for what your opponent is going to do to decide what you're going to give and what you're going to take away. Tom Iso to me is my guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. C-C-C, this is hard for me because I should, you know what, let me stop lying. It's not hard for me because I love coach so much. I love getting on them. I mean, I have a blast just getting on them. I just love it. I love it. It tickles me to death to get on them. Joe, here's my issue. This is why I react this way to coach. Tell me who coach don't say that about. That's elite. I mean, coach is a phenomenal, phenomenal basketball analyst, but he's also easily moonlight as an agent. There's no better salesman than such. I mean, there's no better salesman than you. He's unbelievable. I understand that. The problem with what he said about coach is, or H to the is, or Tom is, or know how much I love that, man. You know how much I love him. Tom is the problem with coaches. You can say the same thing about a patino. You can say the same thing about himself. He'll say the same thing about him. I'm telling you right now. Okay. I'm going to answer this question by telling you which head coach I want in the East region. Are you ready for this? It's going to be Dan Hurley. I can't argue with this. The man is a two-time, the man is a two-time national champion. His team rebounds. They defend. They shoot well. I don't understand how you're losing the Crate and then Marquette. Late in the season, I understand those losses. Okay. I don't understand how you're losing. But Dan Hurley can coach his ass off. He really, really can. And he knows how to touch the pulse of his team, particularly when it counts. Most even when they lost last year to Florida. Even when they lost last year to Florida. It was a nail bite that came down to the wire. I think that we look at the players. But a lot of times we just mention the coaches because they're great as pass A. Not realizing that the coaches are highly competitive against one another as well. Dan Hurley against Rick Patino. Bill Self is though. You know, I mean, I'm looking at all of that. And I'm like, Dan Hurley, I believe in this man. I really, really do. I think he's a great coach. And I think he will have Yukon ready. I believe in him. I do. The thing that's lost with Hurley and Yukon is that last year they had Florida. They had him in that game. They did. And that was-- And that was Clayton Jr. happy. Yeah. And that's why Florida was the best and went on to win the whole thing. But Yukon was right there. And if you get passed Florida in that game, you go on and might have a really good shot and win in three straight titles. That's right. The thing that stands out to me about Danny Hurley and this is such a brutal question because whoever you take, you're leaving-- The right word to use because he lives in the world, brutal, hurt. And so many good coaches you're leaving out there. But I go with Hurley because again, I'll shift back to the idea that the man just covers the number. And this year it's all about the number. Lovering, point-fresh. Also, there's that-- I know Stephen Aillike 14 and 2 against the spread in the dance. It's he got to Yukon 14 straight. Now, that cannot be the definitive reason why you picked Dan Hurley. But this time of year with how we like to get involved with some of these games, Dan Hurley has been coming through for his supporters. Let me tell you something. Those five guys right there are all whole famed coaches. Because John Sharr is going to be the whole famed coach. John Sharr coming out of timeouts is absolutely incredible. That's an incredible job. Those five guys right there, and you're right, Stephen Aillike, because I look at these guys, like, let me ask you something. Which one of those guys would you want to play for? Absolutely not. I do want to play for every one of them. And I want to say this about John Sharr because it's important to mention this. He is-- If there's a category of an unsung hero amongst coaches, it would be him to follow Mike Shashewski and to see no dropple. We all know, let's keep it a buck. We all know there's no way that John Sharr is the coach in the Duke Blue Devils, if it were not for Mike Shashewski. So of all the great things, the five-time national champion, the five-time Olympic gold medalist as a coach, one of the great, great things that Mike Shashewski has done in this career, is pick his successor, Duke. Because who would have thought that any coach would enjoy the level of success that he hasn't won a championship yet? I got that. But outside of winning the championship, there is nothing that John Sharr has not done as coach or the Duke Blue Devils. So he is an elite coach, and I got to give credit what credit is due, not just to him, but to Mike Shashewski, so if it's letting Duke know, that's the guy that we should ascend as my successor. Absolutely, no doubt about it. There is only one coach on this list though that has a slogan that is associated with him, like Death Taxes, Tom Ezo and March. I know they can't really hear about that one. And all five of those guys were a quickly, all five of those guys, the one thing that their gift is those, their players. Oh, guys that play for them would kill for them. Sure. They absolutely can beat it every dick of the day. There you go. There goes the agent again. There he is. He's added again. He's added again. But let me, let me say this. Guys, let me ask you this question. Let me ask, because all of these guys are so great, and there's such a testament to the greatness of college basketball. You don't root against any of them or whatever. We understand it. We all know they're great. But if there was one guy that you're rooting for above all else, based on the names that we threw out there, who would it be for you guys? Because I know who it would be for me. Who would it be for you? I know what it's gonna be for you. It's gonna be Rick Patino and St. John's to finish the story. Absolutely. And then chapter one, and then he walks off into the sunset and there it is. Rick Patino. No. No, I don't want Rick Patino to win. I don't want Rick Patino to go anywhere. Stay right there. I'll talk to you in my coma. Stay right there. Damn right. I don't want Rick Patino to answer to that. Excuse me. Who is your answer to that? What's the evenation? Who you want to see win? If you could roof for either of these ones. What coach? What? What? You know me. I mean, I want to see all of them win because that's the way I am, because I'm the world's engine. We know that. You got a picture. I would like to see Tom Ezzle get his second national championship. I think that's something that he's chasing. I would have mine either. I love him. I love him. I love him. He had in Michigan State, how much did he have in Michigan? He had a university impact that he's had on not just the basketball program but the institution. I think he's one of one. He's the last of the lifers. I mean, you think about it. His whole career has been Michigan State. Self would be an excellent story considering what he's gone through with Peterson this year and the Toronto Health. And his own health. They figure out a way to get it through. That's a great story. So I've, we tease this as one of the best days of the sports calendar. Yeah, I agree. Because it is. Um, I know that not everybody agrees with that. Coach, where do you fall? - This is the best day of the sports count. Look, Super Bowl is a great day. - Yep, one game, you know? I mean, it's from the game. - Sometimes it's not even a build is a great game. - I mean, like the World Series, it's two teams playing seven games. It's like it's boring, the NBA playoffs, it takes forever to get there. The first stadium's an double tournament. You are absolutely locked in to every game. You can't get enough screens in your living room. I mean, you got tablets and screens that everything else, and what are you looking for? You're waiting for the upset. It's almost like going to NASCAR. What do you wait for? - A crash, all right? You're looking for someone. I'm number one, and number two, and number three. - Well, I don't think you're giving enough credit. I'm not gonna lie to you. I'm gonna say this on national television. Listen, you know, the games and the games and the players and the players and the coaches and the coaches. But you know what? The media deserves a lot of credit. I mean, the way coach, the way you cover college basketball, your man proud of you. You're one of the best in the business. Jay Billis, you know, Jay Williams, my boys, the whole bit Reese Davis, I mean, is there a better job in sports than Reese Davis doing college game day for both football and basketball? And Damien, he deserves it. You know you great when nobody else thinks about having a damn job because you got it. - Hey, we don't need, we don't need to think about that job for long time 'cause Reese Davis is the man. I mean, you guys do a great, great job of covering the sport, and y'all have had me looking forward to the tournament over the last month. So listen, all the stuff that we doing, all the stuff I'm doing, you know, Joe Fortin-Barr with his odds making ass self. He's sitting up there getting, he's listening to these odds makers all over the place and everything like that. You know, wearing this badass outfit, trying to act like he in Vegas when he in Bristol, Connecticut, after time, it doesn't matter. At the end of the day, y'all got us looking forward to this NCAA tournament. Y'all have prepped the country for the NCAA tournament and you deserve a lot of props for it. So I'm giving it to you. I just rolled my agent, I hardly waited. I was gonna say, you get on him for being an agent for a whole agent. You just went after, you get hyped up every single college basketball analyst at the network. They've all got their agents, they don't need you, they're all doing well. It's not good. I put an evidence on your side though. And the thing is, you're both wrong. As great as this day is, it's still not number one. It's on the rush more. What? It's probably on the number two position. The number one day, no one ever thinks about it, and then when it happens, everyone goes, oh my god, I forgot how great this day is. First Saturday in May, NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs, Kentucky, Durham, Steven A, you would always have a major title fight. Floyd Bayweather, Kennell O'Alvarez, the US- - But I never thought about it. - You won't have to have me. - You have to have me. - Put the fight. If the fight was existing, you'd have it. You'd be right. But that's not the damn case. The press. It's the best sports in the year. 'Cause you get a little bit of everything. This is 16 college basketball games. I get that every Saturday. - Every Saturday. - Every Saturday. - No, no, no, no, no, no, no. - You have 16 games that are life and death. You have 16 games that basically change young people's lives. I'm used 16 games under a full point. Look, oh, you're gonna go to baseball, you're gonna go to the damn mind. - Hockey basketball boxing, like you're head spinning. Then Arizona State, take on Virginia. To hockey, we go for a quick take. Team USA's Jack Hughes wants his golden goal puck back. But he's not getting it. The puck has been put on display at the hockey hall of fame in Toronto. Hughes said he's honored that it's there, but that this is his. VP of the hall says it was quote, "Never Jack's puck to own." Stephen A, do you have a problem with Hughes not being in possession of his golden goal puck? - I personally do. I think it's his. I think he should have it. I think that he's entitled to have it. It was a moment, obviously. He was the one that was on the ice, accomplishing the feat that he accomplished, representing the United States of America in prestige fashion, the way that he did and bringing home the goal. So my attitude is that should be the case. But I'm not blaming the hall of fame. It was given to them. The international ice hockey hall of fame donated the puck to the hockey hall of fame. And so because they gave it to them and this paperwork that shows that it's not their fault and what they're saying is it was given to us by the international ice hockey hall of fame. It wasn't his to own. It clearly was theirs. And they elected to give it to us. So we ain't trying to give it back. I understand their position as well. So neither Hughes is to blame, nor the hockey hall of fame is to blame. But in the end, the bottom line is I think the players that are out there, the performers that are actually putting forth the exploits out there, they're the ones that deserve it more than anybody else. And it's for them to give to the hall of fame if they want to. That's just my mindset. But again, I'm not blaming the hockey hall of fame for it. Nor am I blaming Jack Hughes for feeling the way that he feels. International hockey hall of fame said, hey, it wasn't his to own. It's ours. And we donated it to the hall of fame. And I'm wondering why did they do that? Why would they think to give it to Jack Hughes? That to me is with a fault lies, but it is what it is. Definitely a historic relic that is now on display at the hockey hall of fame. JP Morgan Chase announced a new initiative to help athletes navigate every aspect of their financial lives from their early career stages through retirement. The initiative is called the athlete council led by two-time NBA Hall of Fame or Twain Wade in featuring other high-profile athletes, Tom Brady, Sue Bird, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Asia Wilson, and Jalen Brunson. The stars are going to meet with JP Morgan executives to help the bank craft programs design to serve athletes. Now, Steven A. I know that this is something that when you heard the story, you were very passionate about it. What kind of impact do you think this is going to have on athletes? I think it's going to have a profound impact because of the people involved. When you talk about professional athletes, it doesn't get much better than Tom Brady in the Wayne Wade, two champions, two conscientious individuals that care about their fellow man and women when it comes to the sport of football and basketball, respectively, and professional athletics, all across the board, they care. They want their contemporaries, their colleagues, to do well. They don't want to see people out there struggling after putting in their hard earned efforts throughout the years, and then you end up with close to nothing. That clearly is not going to be the case with Tom Brady, who's in the midst of his deal with Fox, and he's a minority owner for the Las Vegas Raiders at the National Football League. And it's certainly not going to be the case with the Wayne Wade, who's paid attention to his situation, financially and beyond for quite some time. These are two individuals that care immensely about professional athletes and professional athletics, and then making sure that people have a landing spot when their careers are over. They were conscientious when they were playing the sport. They were mindful of what they did and how they did it and how they were projected, and how things came across because they recognized the fact that it would resonate exponentially throughout the years and years to come. How you carry yourself, the way you present yourself, the way you position yourself to ultimately continue to have a career beyond the court or the field of play, is something both paid, wrapped attention to while they were winning championships. So I think with that in mind, It's more than I propose that these two are leading the pack in terms of Financial stability and invoking and trying to counter folks on being a bit more financially responsible and teaching them because Financial literacy is a problem in this world. I'm in my fifties. It's still a challenge for me I tell you that right now. I am not a finished product by any stretch of imagination because I wasn't always making money And so there's so much that you have to learn and when you have people out there that are focused on financial literacy and They're listening to people like them. It goes a long way and obviously We play a role in that as well when these get ready to talk. I don't even know what Wendy is going to say But let me promise you something. I promise you that whatever comes out of the mouth of Brian Went towards everybody should listen because he is smart as a tack He knows what the hell he's talking about and he's been a conscientious observer and chronicler for quite some time Covering stories like this throughout the years and anybody that that that wants to learn something As I do we gonna sit right back right now and listen to that man Because I wanted him to be a part of this segment because I know how much Brian went to us has paid the attention to this stuff throughout the years I'm ready to listen and learn as we all should floor yours Wendy Yeah, so this program appears to be very much aimed at college athletes who are dealing with NIL situations obviously there's a lot more athletes getting paid With money to manage now then there were you know five's ten years ago That's what this is this is aimed at and if you go on to the website that JP Morgan has started here you can look and you can read all kinds of stuff that anybody can read You don't have to be on this or whatever so it is there is definitely an educational value here It's also a marketing vehicle for JP Morgan I mean they want the athletes to invest their money with them and I don't know if the way in wait and Tom Brady You're getting endorsed or getting endorsement deals for this You know if they are they're smart and you can learn from how they are gonna sell their names to attach it to this But I do think we are in a zone in athletics right now where we are in the you know the Wild West and there are a lot more people Not it's by the way It's not only the athletes potentially Having money to deal with that you don't want them to squander because you don't know whether a college athlete is going to be able to move on to be a pro But there are people who want to take the money from them, you know the people who are brokering deals and stuff like that They're preyed upon so there are definitely resources here and this is I think we're at the beginning of a completely new era here We're basically college sports our pro sports and they need to be supported like pro athletes are and there are just even last week There was a there was a federal case of someone Settling you know getting convicted of defrauding money from Chandler Parsons and Drew holiday How many times have we seen this and Chandler Parsons and Drew holiday are intelligent individuals? So anything that can help with this is definitely a case I'm sure if you want to give your my JP Morgan they'll be happy to invest help you invested as well No question Everybody's trying to get paid everybody's looking for an angle, and you know, I mean and nobody has to worry more Than the modern athlete because of the month the exponential amount of money that they generate revenue for themselves and what have you Everybody wants a piece of the action without putting in the work that these guys put in the earn it And so guys like the Wayne Wade and guys like Tom Brady It goes a long way when they're trying to facilitate financial literacy in Lives of their contemporaries and colleagues. It's a big big deal And it's not a story that should go unnoticed We should pay rapt attention to this because this story is only going to foam and grow in the weeks the months in the years to come Make no mistake about that and I think a big part of this initiative Wendy to what you were bringing up about how NIL deals are still very much in the infancy stages of athletes knowing how to sign them and who to have Managing them this program is aimed to teach players not only athletes Not only financial literacy, but how to pick a financial advisor and just a staggering stat that JP Morgan put out in this release 1 in 6 NFL players within 12 years of retiring have to file for bankruptcy I know that we often think that athletes make all this money and they have it forever Very clearly the facts out there show that that is not always Well All right after the break you got folks it you've got folks that are making money while they're playing Mm-hmm and and they're still trying to live Like they're still making that same amount of money and that's really really at the heart of the problem That's one of the issues as well that has to be addressed and people like D. Wade and Tom Brady Are more to qualify to address that? Hey Courtney, don't worry about Stephen. His financial literacy is just fine. I'm not gonna go with VCU for the upset. I'm gonna stick with North Carolina Joey if you're gonna take a Florida. This is not a bad fly at VCU They play nine guys could they have the opportunity to wear down North Carolina They play fast terrific guard play they turn you over They get into the paint they get to the free throw line I like this this VCU team Terrence Hill points per minute really really dangerous guy good-size physicality They've got an older team that Phil Martell Jr. did a great job in portal. I like VCU It's almost like a pick-em game really yeah You can take a flyer not a bad flyer so far you're doing okay so far okay? I don't know I can't promise you to rest in a way all right So let's ramp it up a little bit for pick number two It's gonna be Santa Clara plus the three and a half again money line over Kentucky Kentucky being a blue blood in a match up like this I think you pay a little bit of a tax because you know the public's gonna want to come in and back the big name program over the little Up and cover in Santa Clara Kentucky limping in a little bit. They've lost six to ten here Don't sleep on this Santa Clara team. They beat St. Mary's twice this season real solid three-point shooting team One of the best offense is in the country. They can shoot the three they protect the ball They can rebound on offense as well. Stephen A pick number two Santa Clara plus the three and a half and the potential upset over Kentucky I'm still not going against Kentucky, but I get where you're coming from I think this is a better shot. This has a better shot of happening than VCU Abeding North Carolina personally, so I'll go with you with that, but I'm still sticking with Kentucky And Joe I have to admit you're not doing that so far. I mean, he must be the jack. I don't know. Prince has been very well He's doing a great job right now. Look Santa Clara is an interesting team. Alan Gray six ninth small forward can really shoot the basketball Christian humming a guard who breaks you down off the basketball partly They rebound the ball in the offense event. They don't turn it over. They turn you over they come in waves They shoot about 44% of the shots from the three-point line. They connect after these. Here's my only concern for Santa Clara Because play in St. Mary's is one thing. They're big physical they're not as dynamic off the bounce. For Sencleair to win a skim, they gotta do one thing and only thing only. They gotta contain away, and they gotta contain the average enough to bounce. If they can guard the ball to the point of attack, you will look like a genius. - Okay, now-- - You get almost back out by that, I mean, a genius. - I appreciate that. - Genius in a purple coat. - I appreciate that. Okay, now we're gonna go for the biggest swing of all on the Thursday slate. This is gonna be high point plus the 10 and a half in a potential upset over Wisconsin. Now, you got a Badger's team, I think, a tad bit overvalued 'cause they did close the season strong, but very high variance team. What do I mean by that? Number three in the country in three point attempts per game. They love to shoot the three, and if they're making them, we are dead to rights in this game. But if they have it off night, we're absolutely live for the upset. High points coming in, Red Hot, they won 22-23, and keep in mind. They are outstanding at A, protecting the basketball, their top 10 and turnovers committed, B, forcing turnovers. The top 10 and turnovers forced as well. That recipe could set up all for an upset here. So, Steven A, high point plus the 10 and a half in a potential upset over Wisconsin. - I'm gonna go with high point plus the 10 and a half. I'm gonna go with them on this. You know what I'm saying? I think this could happen. I think it's possible that this could happen. You know, you're right because Wisconsin is hit a miss. They're making it three, they'll blow you out the building. They're missing them, and A, U squad can beat them. So, you're absolutely right. - Steven A, one of my contracts up, I'm gonna hire U as my agent. Joey, I don't think I could pull off the purple jacket. But, and Terry Anderson, high point is terrific. Six, six, dynamic guard. They do come out at your warp speed. Wisconsin's undervalued. They get an old winter back. He's a six-foot-level H-guided, could step out, they invert their offense. Nick Boyd, dynamic off the bounce. John Blackwell, between those two guys, they score 39 points a game. This is not your father's Wisconsin team. This is a Wisconsin team built on the offense with terrific passing team, great size, incredibly skilled, and they rebound the ball into defense of it. As much as I like high point, and their versatility, their athleticism, I like Wisconsin. The shot make 'em most conscious. Remember, Wisconsin, they got Michigan, at Michigan, they should've got 'em a second time. I think this is Wisconsin's team I'll actually give Arkansas a tough game if they both advance. - That would be an incredible match up in the next round if they both get there. - So, we've got about 20 minutes. I thought it was a very unfair draw for Vanderbilt to get McNeese in the first round. - No problem. - No, you're good with that one? - Well, I'm gonna ask you, Joe, what has been these two? They turned over, right? What is the strength of this Vanderbilt team? - Art of Backdoor. - Tyler Tyler is the absolute, Joe. They got a lot of Tyler's on Team American Tyler, Tyler Tyler, Nichol Duke Miles. All right, their perimeter game, that Backdoor of Vanderbilt is dynamic, explosive. And they have the ability to turn you over 'cause they're so active on the mall. They pressure the basketball, they get in pass the lanes, they got a, not great physicality in terms of size, but quickness and life. McNeese, great story. I love the way they play, they play really hard, but I like Vandy. - You're from, sir. - 11 to 1 to make the final four. Plus 105 to make the sweet 16. When this game, you gotta be Detroit Nebraska winner. Like everything else, it's also available on ESPN and the ESPN app. Freshman sensations and AP first team, all Americans, A.J. DeBonsta and Darius A.C. of Jr. are both in action today. DeBonsta and number six seed BYU take on number 11 seed, Texas tonight in first round matchup while A.C. of Jr. and the number fourth seed, Arkansas faces number 13 seed Hawaii. Both are considered top prospects for the NBA draft, B.onsta average, 25 points earning big 12th player of the year honors and A.C. of average 23 points was named the unanimous SEC player of the year. So this tournament features a host of Freshman talent from those two guys, Kingston Flemmings, Darren Peterson, Cam Booser, Steven Ack and go on and on here, but which Freshman player in this tournament do you think will help himself the most towards being an NBA prospect? Maybe even that number one overall pick. - You could easily make the argument of Darius A.C. of Jr. but I'm gonna go the route of A.J. DeBonsta. You don't teach 6-8-6-9 with that Wingspan, that athleticism, that ball handling ability, that just shot making the ability. You know, and obviously they lean on him heavily. He is their number one option, no mistake about it, he's the star of that squad and he's bringing it. And when we sit in the NCAA tournament, the time when we really, really pay wrap the attention to guard play, because that usually propels you to a national championship. And you have the likes of anything from a Darren Peterson that cancels us to a Flemming in Houston, to an A.C. of Jr. at Arkansas, to the burries and bradly at Arizona. You're going to look at certain guys and say, okay, what am I getting from them? But A.J. DeBonsta, at BYU, being the stud that he is, looking at a guy like a Tracy McGrady, a Grand Hill, a LeBron James, people like that, that to some degree, he reminds folks of, to see him in this NCAA tournament, representing BYU, carrying, you know, that school on his shoulders, in this NCAA tournament, I think that if he shows up, like I expect him to, and lets everybody know who the hell he is, like I expect him to, that he will unquestionably be the number one overall pick in the upcoming NBA draft. - For sure, and I know we've had the conversation guys about, you know, how much the NCAA tournament matters for draft stock and all of that, but like specific to this tournament, Joe, who do you think is going to have the best performance of any of these freshmen? - There's so many good options. The problem with DeBonsta is in him. It's that I could see him going down to Texas in the opening round, and we really only get 40 minutes of him. The area is eight cuffed, Jr.'s the guy I go with, because I think we see him beating Hawaii in a game where Hawaii's gonna compete, and then once he gets past it, could be looking at Wisconsin in a matchup that has everyone's attention for the round of 32. I mean, how many times have we seen John Calipari take a star freshmen into the tournament and get extraordinary results? In the conference tournament alone, which has the defending champion in Florida, Arkansas won behind A-Cuff for the first time since 2000. He averaged 30 and seven in the SEC tournament. During the season, he averaged 22, 3 and 6. He can shoot the three. He's close to 50% from the field in general for the season. Lot of great options, coach. Derrius A-Cuff Jr.'s my pick. - Both are great picks, and both could be correct. I'm gonna go with a guy that we take for granted. I'm gonna go with a guy that he leads his team in points, rebounds, assistance, seals. I'm gonna go over the guy that people talk about, oh, well, I don't know how he's game translates to the NBA because he's an under the rim player, but only does his win, and that's Cam Boozre. Like, to me, Cam Boozre is the most underappreciated player in college basketball, and he's gonna be a college player of the year. And his stats compared to Cooper Flags a year ago, it's not even close. Six-nine, now with Caleb Foster out, he's gonna be basically Scottie Pittman when his brother, Katie, goes out, he's their point guard, so he's got initiate their offense. He's got terrific feet defensively. He rebounds the basketball, he can step out and shoot the three. If you double, he plays out of double teams, like he's a point guard. I look at Cam Boozre and I say, we take him for granted because he's not a running jump in dude. He's not crazy athletic, he's very athletic, he's not crazy athletic. He doesn't make sports center top 10 plays. He does one thing, he impacts winning. He impacts winning defensively, offensively as a teammate, as a player, as an 18-year-old, he's huddling up their team at the free throw line, bringing people together. He's just like that. I say it all the time. I think the guy was basically raised to be an NBA superstar. And in order to get there first, he's got to go through the NCAA tournaments. Crazy, these 19-year-olds and what we incredible. His poor is close to me away. Yeah. It was Arkansas last year and C state in 2020. - I made your programs. - Yes, and so these are questions now Joe that we have to ask ourselves in a new era of college athletics has NIL gotten rid of Cinderella teams. - Yeah, for the most part it's over. Now you might have the Cinderella win. You're not gonna have the Cinderella run. That's the difference. You've had the teams that have gone on the run. You could get the fluke performance where you just can't miss and somehow you take out a good team, but no, this is done. The teams at the top have always had the advantage but now they've got the money and the money has widened the gap between them and the mid majors. Further compounding the issue is that if a mid major happens to find itself a star player, he's gone. After one year because one of those teams at the top is going to spend the money to bring him in. So ultimately in this era, you might have the Cinderella win with the buzzer beater at the end like, "Hey, we had the 12 over the five or the 13 over the four, "but you're not gonna get the runs "that you used to get back in the day." - Well, what you said is accurate, but what you said in a process of it being accurate makes it easy to disagree with your answer because we're not differentiating between a Cinderella run and a Cinderella win. A Cinderella win is a Cinderella win in the NCAA tournament. That's what personifies it. That's what has it in the minds of everybody everywhere filling out the brackets and what have you. You might sit up there and think for example, let's say for example you got a team getting knocked out in the sweet 16, but you had them pulling off the big upset before the sweet 16. That is what personifies NCAA tournament action. That's what you're looking for. So that one win, you don't need the run is what I'm saying Joe Fortinbar for Cinderella's to exist. All you need is the win. If you've got a win every single year where somebody of a two or one C, the two C, the four C gets knocked off, guess what? That's a big, big deal. And that epitomizes what the NCAA tournament is supposed to be all about. Everybody got a chance. That's why you heard me talking about Miami of Ohio, make sure they get in because who knows what kind of run, even if they win just one, even if they upset just one team, they have fulfilled what NCAA basketball is supposed to be about. No, but that's just an upset. That's not a Cinderella. That's just an upset. Anybody can have one upset. It's a high age versus a low major. It's a Cinderella. Yes, that's the Cinderella. That's the Cinderella. That's just one game that's just an upset. It doesn't matter. That was an upset. It was a wonderful upset. I need to unize Cinderella is a run. A Cinderella is a run. Would you have called McNeese a Cinderella last year because of what they did in the first round and then it could be a fancing? Yeah, look, I agree with Stephen A. And the tournament is the thing that's fascinating is because it basically creates a Hoosier type environment. So you have that opportunity to do something really, really special and have your moment. Have your moment in time. Having said that, look, they're all high major leagues with high major budgets. So I don't count them as Cinderella. So if you're talking about like a VC, you're talking about a St. Mary's. You're talking about maybe even a Santa Clara. Those are high major programs and mid major leagues. The day of the low major is done, it's done. Because a good low major team, as you said, if you have a good player, that kid's in the portal. You're basically all the mid major low majors are junior colleges now in terms of athletics. And they're basically feeding into the high majors. So are we going to have someone? We don't have a ton of them anyway, but we'll have one. We'll have one every year because Cinderella shows up about once a year. Yeah. And if anything-- Yeah, as you don't have double digit seedings, winning anything. So obviously, I get where Joe is coming from. I'm saying all it takes is one. You don't need a run. You just need a victory and get a high seed. You do need a run, and it's important to note that I got you at the end. At the end of the show, Joe Forebought came back to take the big day sword.
