In this episode, Brady discusses the evolution and current state of Dormammu in Marvel Crisis Protocol. He explains that recent updates have transformed Dorm from a sometimes inconsistent character into a highly reliable and powerful meta choice. Key changes include making his leadership ability trigger in the cleanup phase instead of the power phase, preventing self-damage, and modifying his attack triggers to be more consistent by spawning skulls based on opponent's rolls. This increases his hex generation and overall effectiveness. Brady recounts his personal experience with Dorm, from earlier builds using now-banned cards like Demon Gamma to adapting to new scenarios. He notes specific interactions, such as Loki 2 countering Dorm's skull mechanics and the Montesi Books limiting dice addition. The conversation also briefly covers other models in his open-affiliation roster, like Gladiator, chosen for his high-damage output despite the risk of self-inflicted damage from power accumulation. Overall, Dorm's buffs have elevated his win rate and made him a formidable competitive pick.
[Music] Hello everyone, welcome back to another Christmas episode of the Danger Room. Today I have, you probably know him, he's Brady, he's here to talk about dorm, but I guess how you doing Brady? I'm doing great, I just want to lunch me classic online and it got me back my badge to be Mr. Yoromamu, Flanjoin, and Paul Teen. I can feel pride in that again, but also now like, I can't be the dark horse, now I'm one of the hipsters going like playing the cool new thing that got. Dude, you're playing the meta thing now. It feels bad now, I want to switch this. I'm trying to mess up Loki 2 Asgard with like, "Chitchor's Booms, flashes are something, I don't want to be part of the meta, I want to be playing Bill and Shane G, and everything." It was terrible. Dude, yeah you did ask AMG for a refund on those buffs. Yeah, wait, so you won, you won the latest lunch meet? I did, yeah, versus the meta, Nemesis, everybody has of sentinels? Wait, were you playing dorm into that? I was playing dorm against sentinels, yeah. Dude, hell yeah. Okay, so this all makes sense now as to why Curtis is like sentinels dorm meta the other day. Yeah. Okay, okay. How'd that go for you? I mean, it seems okay, like you can't get. Wait, what is it? I can't push them for the dorm we had to stuff. They're a little bit beefier, but I played Iron Man, if it's a blind man into them, and every attack was a wild, so I just staggered essentially every sentinel all the time. All the time. Okay, yeah, I saw that in your list and I was curious about it. All right, before we get too deep down the hole, I have to ask you, how do you find MCP and what do you love about it? So I technically found MCP, I think around COVID times through like TTS, but my friend was like, hey, this is Marvel game, it's cool. Play it like, sure, okay, we try. And we played a pickup game online. I was like, oh, let's look at 14th threat team on this, whatever old crisis that was. Like, oh, man, dormable Hulk Puffster, what a meta team right there. We played a pickup game. He played some regular five wide thing. And then I just lost immediately from having no activations. I was like, this game is terrible. I hate this. This is ridiculous. This dead to me. I did like three years later sentinels come out. I was like, I'm back in the thing I love in Marvel is here. I'm all for it. And I got old school Thanos just beat up my sentinels at my local meta for about six months. So I bought other stuff. I'm a portal sentinels three times, make a little train, hit him twice, bonk him around to throw him into each other and they're all dead and then just space away like this is. Side my size size size five dudes just taking six days for throws all the time. Wait, so why wait, so your locals were playing Thanos? Was that on game night or was it on like a monthly events or something? It was it was game night. It was like, oh my god. It was like Wakanda Thanos with like, let's have Wakanda car for the AOE DR1 by brain shielding. So it's DR2 reality Thanos just. Oh my god. Beat the hell out of my sentinels. Like this is a trotious and I have a meta like Brandon Abramson the at the time top Wakanda player and then Zach Cohen of multiple like victories of second wind and other tournaments and leaderboard tops of like guardians and asgard stuff. So it's you know, usually like shark tank stuff. Like if I'm gonna play bad shit, I'd play bad shit really really good to have a chance. Right, so I know your meta is like pretty competitive. Like obviously you mentioned Brandon and Zach and I know you have Adam is there and I think those are the only people I remember off hand. But I mean, don't you have like locals who like aren't sweating it out on the daily like. Yeah, people come in playing like it's just some like random goofy like I'm playing thralls and a bunch of he leaves factor people like I exit this in there. I got Dracula and they're like, all right, I'll bring my weird nonsense. And it's like I'm playing Heimdall and 401 asgard of like maybe this will do okay. Then it just doesn't doesn't go well because I'm not really asgard myself. But like I'll play the off duel I have in this like pickup game roster at the time. Okay, okay. So it was we just we just we just get to blame Brandon and Zach done. That's all they've they've they put me to the grindstone. I was like I gotta play something weird to beat this good stuff. So all right, so speaking of weird, which is maybe not so weird anymore. We're gonna talk about dorm. And now it's meta. Yeah, yeah. Brady is back to being flame of the faulty and I believe, right? So she said at the time yes. Wait, aren't you flame of the faulty right now? Are either of us? I'm not. You're a bunch of you're like games dropped off like three days ago. I think relatively so you're like off leaderboard at the time. So you go to like until you go to a Debticon go smoke. Have to have the event with like some dorm on the nonsense and you'll fly back up. I'm sure. Dude, my my fellow flame of the faulty competitor. That's right. Okay, no, you're number one now. Yeah, it's like us two plus Chris Willis who I've never met. All right, so we're just talking about dorm. Let's just dive into your list, I suppose. So obviously our first character is dorm. Yeah, we can talk about his changes. I remember we could talk about how he was before. I don't know where do you want to start with him? So there's like three versions of him in my mind of pre. It's like on the Demon Gamma days and then between that with like Demon Gamma being banned and then now the current time. So the the old time of Demon Gamma, I played the card smash. Like that was like my infaction card. Essentially it was a model. Let's see, a model could destroy a building within range one smaller than their size and add dice to that round for all their attacks. So I don't have dorm setup for to smash a smash a building like a size four. Do his spender of eight dice mystic that could like bounce if you get the yachty and now it's smashed it and now it's 12 dice and I just always just stack reels with it like sentinel prime and Zemo and like Iron Man or Heimdall or some nonsense or Arnhem Zola to be like extra weird. Like all right, well here's 12 dice and you made a nice little bunker and with the three of everything. Oh, hit the yachty boom. Just around three smoked half their team with action and from dorm. This is going great. Go demon gamma. We're all in the six inches map. All that matters is who rolls the hardest amount of dice better. Uh-huh. Yes. So after that the new metad came new crisis came out. Smash got banned. Gamma demon got banned. We have to we have to play scenario and mobility and like do stuff. So I had to. I kind of dropped it for a good while because all I want to do was turn it and roll dice and punch people. And now I can't. So I rotated like criminals to Asgard and some other some other nonsense and it felt like bad because at the time dorm the leadership was in the power phase. You could get hurt by it and I played it so much against my locals. They would just use it against me. Like, oh, if I leave this guy on one throwing a building to leave him on one and now he's not too much power. He'll just lose an activation, right? Like, yeah, like, I call I'll just leave him there. Like, fuck. Great. Awesome. Go go buy leadership. It's about to play. I have to play against my own leadership and I guess my opponent like this is want to start. Uh-huh. So I rotate off of it but between all that like I think I play that's at squad goals. And then I did okay. I said, all right, I'm retiring it till something changes. I heard whispers on the wind from like people who can't be named of this might change. Or that might change. And it's like it probably won't because anything you do change on an a thread dude counting skulls just ruins his action to call him. I'm like, oh, we'll make it a get make his acro gainer. Like, oh, that's it makes it too consistent. It's insane. Oh, we'll make the hops not once per round. Oh, now he's just flying all over the map. Like, not not great stuff. So after that, uh, new crises came out. Most scenario and the new mini-strav came out. Some updates, which I'm sure we'll talk about. Now he feels more consistent. The dice triggers are mostly skull based now. And counting your opponent's skulls makes it like feel even worse for your opponent. Like they roll a skull. I get more triggers. I get to do more of my stuff. And it just feels a lot better. Like it's consistent, which is a little terrifying of an eight thread. Consistent Kaiju killer person a little bit. Yeah, I, uh, I haven't actually played new dorm yet, honestly. But I've like rolled the rolled the dice a little bit just to like mess around, you know, my very scientific examination of this rolling dice and TTS for fun. Yeah, no, having triggers on your opponent's stuff is so sick. Like you just get the hex so much more now. It's hexes at saps. It could be the the bounce for like the spender, which feels really good. The, there's two goofy things about it is one is the way the skulls are when dorm attacks and you add your opponent's skulls to your results. It used to be count their skulls for your successes. Now it's just you see a skull add like you spawn out of the ether a dice on your side skull face up into your attack pool. It breaks several things. Uh, one, Loki 2 is even better against dorma mu. Since if Loki has a skull in his role, you see a skull spawn a skull, Loki sees your skull. You both count the skull so it's all net zero. Like essentially you'll still get saps and everything, but it essentially it's just a regular attack into Loki. Yeah, that's that's crazy. Okay, wait, so it essentially Loki is like double skulls on defense into you or uh, no, not offense, not offense, but uh, but his defense into dorm. It's, yeah, it's double skulls because it used to be old, old way was to count the skulls essentially. That's that's how it works. Basically, yeah, obviously, which he was doing, but he essentially counts his own now. Okay, everybody counts all skulls twice. So nobody counts it any any amount basically. Okay, like we're all loke, we're all Loki 2 now. So nothing nothing matters. Just who's got more actual attack successes? Okay, yeah, fair enough. And then like the second weird thing is like the the Montessi books and inhuman weapons, those such that it used to be just count skulls in the role as successes and now it's add skull results. If you do the Montessi book beams, uh, and they have a skull in their defense role, you can't do anything because the Montessi books says no dice can be added to the attack. So it turns off your own like count skull part because you can't spawn more dice because that's adding dice results into the pool. Okay, that makes sense. So on the two niche, very niche situations, if you're fighting Loki 2 or book, book beaming with dorm, it doesn't work, but otherwise it's it's pretty good. Yeah, and even like, like it persists through recal, I think like there's like weird scenarios. Like if Dr. Strange, Agamato's also is like weird, I think. Oh yeah, uh, so actual recal is the spawn skull thing is says at the end of the modified dice step, which is the same step of recal. The don't, the mom will play as a choice in attack of don't want to count skulls now and then recal or recal and then spawn skulls if they have more skulls. Uh, it kind of matters if like, yeah, you're Dr. Strange, I have agamato invaders or miles webs can like beckon mod skulls, like, do you want to risk it and recal to try and get more skulls in there? Yeah, right. Okay, so that's uh, that's uh, that's if you're like offensively recalting. Yes, yeah, previously would dorm it wouldn't matter. You just rip it regardless whenever. Yeah, but yeah, now you have to pick the order. And if your opponent defensively recals, you would not acquire new skulls they rolled into. Correct. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, good to know. So that's a, that's like a super minor nerf. Yeah. But overall, it's a big series of buffs. Yeah, I suppose. Yeah, I guess it's a minor nerf for sure. Yeah. Uh, but yeah, no dorm like, it's very subtle how like how much is buffs are impactful. Like I said this, I've said this many times. Every time I feel like I lose a game with dorm, it's because I lost the character in the power phase. I lose an activation or something and now that's just impossible. Uh, so yeah, like I used to not, not, I used to shy away from playing like Namo or Angela who just couldn't spend down power fast enough and they bite like like old, uh, old dorm, I'm with playing Namo or I'm charging all the time and punching everything. You can literally can't spend his power down to fast enough to not take damage in power phase. But now it's just, I just do whatever you just charge all time, uh, maybe, maybe heal them in next round. It's fine. Yeah, exactly. There's also another slight, but a subtle buff here that I didn't even realize until I went to tournament was, uh, you can now sequence like if your model is going to die like get KO'd in the cleanup phase, you can choose to do that first and then you can dark restoration them. Yeah. So you can have like, you can goof it with any kind of, yeah, any three three threat model or under that has too much power. Like, like say like a coier, like you can try and tweak it to take that last tick of damage in cleanup phase and then just immediately spawn it back like, all right, cool. You spent four rounds punching a coier. Here's a fresh, healthy one that I KO'd because of my choices like of timing. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then she gets the power phase power to so like, or no, she would miss out on the extra power. She would just start one. No, no, no, she, uh, she should spawn back in cleanup phase and then you go next round, do power phase. Right. So she would have one. She wouldn't get like the leadership power because she died at her old version died to it, right? No, she would because it's, uh, she dies, uh, it's, uh, she dies. Oh, they split it in half. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Take, take damage and cleanup power phase and power phase. Yeah, you're right. Okay. No, okay. Yeah, that's sick. Yeah. And then the other goofy thing I'm trying to do is, uh, get weapon X to explode in cleanup phase. So we could go, he can go charge in there. I'll opt to not take healing factor. It just hope to explode and then maybe leave him on one health, uh, explode. He dies. You roll the dice for explosion and then he just comes back again anger than ever. So those are the fun like goofy parts of the mechanics to try and like, I'm trying to tweak around. Right on. Yeah. I'm trying to think there's, I feel like there was one last thing about dorm that I was trying to remember, but maybe that's everything. I mean, he gained peerless so like, you can't play Thanos with him anymore. Or, uh, Adam Warlock. Oh, yeah. Warlock. And then his spender triggers like easier to hit, I think now because it was like, I think crit hits shield school head and now yeah, yeah, which is kind of odd. So now just all attack successes plus a school. So it just feels it reads better of like, oh, it's more attack dice more attack faces and a school. Right. Yeah. I think that's it. Everything else is about the same. Yeah. I feel like, I guess when I play dorm, I think the one thing about dorm that's so powerful is his range for like and just being really fast. I find that like because I've this year, I've spent time playing a lot of APOC, a lot of dorm. I've played a good amount of Malaceth and Thanos and like, Thanos after the nerfs. And the thing with Thanos and Malaceth, how they feel today is like, even Thor two also, they just like don't get into the game on Round 1, whereas like, APOC and dorm are like shooting things on Round 1 and they like days things regularly. And I just like, I think that's like where the money is. Yeah, it's usually at minimum. APOC or dorm should have their respective like range two place walk shoot online to some extent. And then every every other big threat model needs some kind of setup or assistance more or less. Yeah. And I think that's something that people, like there's a lot of people who just doc dorm was bad or whatever. I don't know if they can argue that now. He kind of used to be. Now he's like, assistant, especially looking at like the leaderboard since the recent mini-strev. Leaderboard or like the statistics? Statistics. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. dorm is number four wind rate out of all factions after the changes. Insane. Yeah. I know a lot of people aren't happy in open affiliation. Open affiliation is doing well of like, well, I'll just take dormant the best stuff and you're probably going to win. You just have all the power online all the time. Yeah. I don't know. Like, I just think people are just unhappy with whatever's at the top. Like APOC literally is the exact opposite. And he's number one, right? I mean, everything in faction. So the stats I'm looking at it says new munes is number two. I don't know if I'm off by a dare to of. No, that I didn't correct. Okay. But they don't have a ton of games played. But they're actually, yeah, I don't know. They have a good decent wind rates. I don't know what's going on there. But, um, but yeah, I mean, look, in humans have black bolt has a negative one percentage and he's had 150 games played. So, hell yeah. So like, I don't know. There's some merit to these stats. So at dorms got 260 games played and he's 56% wind rate. Like, it's quite good. It's pretty spree sweet. Yeah. All four. Same. I'm a big dorm. We've both been big dorm fans for a long time. But yeah, both of us are trying to crack the 600 threshold of the leaderboard. Yeah, I don't even play for leaderboards. I'm being completely honest. I like to chase the badge. It feels like fun. Yeah. Like thing to go for. I enjoy when I get it for sure. Yeah, surprisingly, I got the dorm one. I normally don't play something long enough to get it. But you played some triple affiliation kind of stuff. Yeah, it's like, maybe dorms in the list, but I never played them, you know, stuff like that. Yeah. All right. So we can move on to the rest of your models. Wherever you want to start, it's up to you. I think like top, top, front down. So like, my next pick is Gladiator. Sure. Well, okay. Half the models in my list is just weird-nish stuff since as an open affiliation, you have the choice of all the jelly beans in the jelly bean bag. But there's too many. You have to pick nine out of what, 250 some mod models. That are technically quote unquote, "an affiliation." There's no best thing. It's just what's your favorite thing? How do you, you got to run it? So I'm running Gladiator because I just want to throw giant positive eyes at people. It feels insanely fun. And to have a guy that has charged online round one can kind of spend his power down and throw buildings and like, oh, it's it's round two. I'm gonna throw an 11 dice builder punch at you because I charged and last round several times. Now I'm gonna keep throwing piles at you again. How are you? Sorry, good. You never see Gladiator on the board because he's just, there's no, he's not affiliated anywhere. So he just, he doesn't show up besides as a goofy splash. And that's what some friends do with him. How have you felt about him? I mean, obviously he spends power well. But like, I could totally see you just like spiking somebody on round one and then taking a damage and then clean up and just losing a token. I would say about 80% of my leadership damages I've taken is Gladiator hurting himself from punching too hard round one immediately. Like I mispositioned and couldn't throw a building. So now I just, I double punched and I'm like, I'm at eight power. I messed up. I'm gonna lose a confidence immediately. Yeah. So have you found that to be a problem? I mean, maybe not. It is a little bit because it's just like it's, he's a goofy guy and you can't, he's a snowball and I'm accidentally making my snowball smaller through, through punching too hard. It usually goes well because after round one, there's way more options to do stuff and like charge and do a build a new spender or throw a building. Just I messed up sometimes over spike. Yeah, I could totally see him just like charge punch like whatever two attacks to kill a three threat as five held. So he makes like five power and you throw the building down to two. I guess yeah, then you would, you would not get burned in the in the clear case. I've messed up and just I'm not near buildings and I'm just in the middle of nowhere, just punching people like I misplaced him right on. Yeah, I mean, but still man, like staring down like a gladiator that can charge you immediately is definitely stressful. Yeah, plus the new meta stuff. There's no guaranteed safe grabs anymore without like hoping you get second first prior or second. Second, second. So now it's a setup of like, well, I put glad against your the mummy. Hope you want to walk over here. Yeah, and if he just like hits the first one, the first attack that's good, you could just like I be mummy probably dies. Yeah. Yeah, so that's pretty sweet. Yeah, I know gladiator school. I haven't tried in my the idea of losing tokens to me off, but maybe it's still worth the mess around with. It's it's okay. You lose a fair amount of tokens. It unfortunately happens, but I try and I try to play around him with the his protection, his taxis card protection of the empire basically got your back where he just charges and putt build their punches wherever model days, one of your models. So I try and set up goofy little like bodyguard bunkers of say, Gorgon or a sacrifice to take take the hit for for gladiator and then now in retaliation, here's an 11 dice on your turn, builder punch to just smoke you. Oh cool days that now it's my turn. Here's two more 11 dice. Let's go. It's an immediate plan of attrition of there's no scenario. This guy, he never grabs an extra actually. He's never on a secure. He's just punching stuff. Yeah. I'm afraid that that's where we're going with MCP right now. Like the balance is very delicate. So it's definitely skewed a lot. It feels I mean, I'm enjoying it, but that those because now you can pick like the slower crisis if you want that kind of play. And then all right, cool. Now you've got my extra acts. There's three of them. We're scoring three around plus your secures, which is maybe like seven to eight points on the board. Well, if I make you score two around, this could be my kind of game of like a six rounder. I had this conversation with Vic on the Kabbal episode and I almost wonder if like we've been playing MCP wrong. It's in something I'm trying to figure out or I need to work on is when you play attrition like like this scenario you're talking about that you just like don't even pick up your opponent's extracts. Like just put them on the ground like behind them to where it's making a walk and grab them. Yeah. Right. So if you're just going to win if the game is deathmatch and you're like very confident you'll win if it's deathmatch, like you're better off just not picking the thing up and just put it in a space where they have to grab it because then now they're not incentivized to even attack you. Yeah. So I don't know, it's something I'm going to start exploring. I mean, that's how most like senators games end up if there's just like five on the on the floor at any given time because someone grabbed it and then just got immediate next turn double hit that guy and now he drops it and it's just we go back and force. Yeah, that's usually because like you can't pick it up though also right because you're like, I'm already holding one or something like that. So like that means the game is already scoring decently but I'm talking like I'm not holding anything I could pick this up but I'm not going to just go on the ground. Yeah. I don't know. All right, want to move on to the next guy? Yeah. I got name more just you know, generically good guy. He has a bubble safe grab if it's on a safe grab because of Prio. I have a charge because I'm dorm and it's just vaguely threatening. Put dorm in a double bubble of him and Zimo and now he's six times reveal two and just way too consistent on hitting things. So I've he felt about the double bubble in this list. Fantastic. I played a recent I played of all lunch me classic and even the in the stream game for the finals like he walked, grabbed a scroll backed up and then just form a Zimo name or bubble or score in parity in multiple, multiple games. Just keep a parity and eventually dorms going to just type out a few people around until now I'm playing four malls to your three because they're all injured or KO to some extent. It's yeah, consistent, which is bad. All right. Yeah, I'm I'm vastly approaching the the nerve double bubble please break glass in case of emergency. Yeah, the bunkers are forming again and now we get to go back to bunker busting them to somehow. Yeah, I almost wonder if it's like time to start playing Crimson Dynamo again. I'm with like lockdown intrusion to the cram in place you can pick the squarry shapes. It feels pretty good. Yeah, exactly. So okay, yeah, that I was I was curious if name more was good here. I guess you played him in every game. So pretty much like it's like when he gets like 18th threat or higher he comes in glad gliders at like 20 exclusively because I try to play four wide and like as many threes as I can usually. So it's like I I played like at 17th threat it's dorm with three threes at 18. It's a three turns into four or you can do like a two three five kind of number right then as you go up to the 19th threat now it's 335 2336. Okay, let's base general like plan. Could move on to venom. I don't know much there's say about name more. That's bad. It's been a rotating four thread slot. It was Red School 3 for the longest time. I played him zero times in the lunch meet, but I've been finding I've had the worst trouble against invaders because now the bunkers coming back invaders doing their own double bubble and I can't punches their skulls because they're just going to reroll out of them. So I need someone to either peel the bunker or stop the mods. He kind of satisfies that. It's still in like a testing phase. It's it's been tricky. That's just been my worst matchup. It's just fighting invaders. Interesting. Okay, but he does he does good stuff. He can stop the mods. He got a lethal protector bodyguard to hop in closer punch someone back and try and get like a tanky dude doing throws doing pulls and shifting models around easily. Yeah, I almost wonder if it's worth trying Omega Red. It actually could be because get the poison to get the pull. Yeah, durable guy. I mean, DR1. Now the throws are basically nerfed. He's pretty beefy. Yeah, I guess name more still goes through Omega Red. So that's slightly worse. Yeah. And you don't get the no mods. So yeah, never mind. We're here for no mods. Yeah. I mean, there's agent venom. You can get round one swing. Yeah. I did try that. I fought Vincent Kirkov against it and it didn't go well because it's just a tough matchup for the bunkers. And then if agent venom didn't get like a kill or two around, some of like Hawkeye or name more just takes out the different activation. And now it was tough. That makes sense. Yeah, Hawkeye is pretty sweet now. He's much better. Yeah, he's a huge problem for a lot of these energy week wings. So yeah, I appreciate the venom try. I just like venom for me. He just like at the end of the day, he has all these things, but he just you need his builder to do something. Yeah, like besides the bleed, it's just okay sometimes, but he needs to spike the builders back to get you stuff. Yeah, like everything relies on his dice connecting, like whether it's the spender or the builder or whatever. And it's just kind of like venom please. Yeah. All right, I'm excited to hear about this invincible Iron Man. It sounds like he's here to bully sentals. All right, he's here to be a bully to everybody. And the new lockdown secure, the square that could test range two and one of them turns off. Everybody usually plays much more forward. So now when if you say you made a bunker, your point turned off, Iron Man, he built a shoot somebody makes power. Doesn't matter whatever. And then second attack is just as Billy dollar punch to place off of an opponents model and usually we're all much more forward. So he'll just bounce to the next point that is active and self shift him or self shift himself around with that spender and try and connect onto points while also being a re-roll source. The some of the base thoughts of going back to dorm was either charges or re-rolls of just that's most of the models that came to the list. So Iron Man, he can't charge but he's got the Billy dollar punch to place off of off bottles which feels good. And then a good re-roll source. And if I get too juiced on power, he can like spirit bomb a helios into something big like an apocre something and just remove a thing from board like cool and dorm. It's round three. I have 25 power between my five models somehow for four models. Here's here's a 20-dye spirit bomb coming at you. Yeah, dude. I dropped a game to Greg Washford at a depth of con a couple of years ago because he helios my Thanos on round two with dorm. Yeah. I had a game. This is before any of the changes like a year ago. I helios to Hulk round two and dazed him because we were on infinity formula and I had Angela. So everyone's cranked on power. Nobody interacted at all. It's just Iron Man walked up, did a builder round one, got a couple power. It was fine. Round two, I've got the 20-some lot power between the team. All right, we're just gonna throw the bucket a dice round two and remove a third of your threat. Hell yeah. Yeah, no, I actually, I'm more on helios. I almost lost a game at every winner just recently to helios. I was on apocke and he just like he had prior just helios my apocke with priority on the healthy side. So I just lost an activation but it was almost enough for me to lose. It was pretty stressful. Yeah. So yeah, helios stocks coming back. It's feels it's been feeling pretty good. I've also tried to do the focus unit beam spender of a Iron Man recent game. I did more damage to myself than the attack did to the other model. So that's just a big old trap. I fell for my own card. Yeah, that attack looks terrible. Yeah, it's not great. It's a yeah, maybe I'll get three like three crits and just do a big explosion. No, I got six blanks, a crit and a whiffed and I hurt myself more. Like awesome. Cool. I bet it myself. This should just been more re-roads. I can spend a dorm later on. Yeah, there's just like the dice pool isn't let seem high enough for this for to matter. Yeah, yeah, but he's been pushing sentals around as well. Fun. Yeah, definitely size five answer definitely seems relevant right now. Yeah, stocks up on web lines and stuff like the Iron Man's, like the easiest things. Yeah. All right, next is Zemo. I mean, Zemo's the dorm goat. So generically good re-roll bubble charge all the long move every week is the 85th time in the pocket. I should hear about Zemo. Yep. It's just Zemo stuff does good consistent Zemo things. The one thing I can add to him that's relevant to dorm specifically is because I've played all these three threats with dorm like I um and Zemo the one thing about him and like weapon X is we'll talk about here next and like the big selling point for me was Zemo over weapon X was that oftentimes you just need your guy to go chase shit down. Yeah, like dorm needs somebody to chase things down and like Zemo can do that whereas like weapon X struggles to do that. So weapon X is like if he's not fighting on the secures, he's pretty awful. Yeah, and then he can't grab the extract if he does chase someone down so it might be on the floor and then someone just walks up and grabs it. Yeah, well that's all for not great. Yeah, exactly. So that's that Zemo like that's why he is so integral I feel like for dorm specifically like you just at the like early game you're just making a lot of attacks trying to kill things you you seed points if you need to and then you oftentimes you just need to go hunt stuff down and Zemo just does that the best. Yeah, 100%. All right, we talk about weapon X. I mean this guy is incredibly fun with dorm. He's he's super goofy. You give him a charge he feels fun. Any kind of like intrusion, wedding party, mayer-fisk like midline, when we off to stand in the middle, he just has a field day just eats models. I had a I did a goofy play that was thematically cool, turned into nothing because I played the dark empowerment, the dark dimension card, which says this model your model takes a damage and says you pick a pick a friend that friend gets all the power equal to damage dealt your next attack will do. So weapon X played it took a damage said dorms and get all the power I do. He weapon X walk charge to intrusion hit a low key to and did six six damage to him after like skulls and everything. So I had a I had dorm on with eight power on deployment. So it sounds cool. This turned into nothing because dorms still walked a hopped shot and then walked and then that was it. So the power was cool. I gave him to the wrong guy. Yeah, like why aren't we like dumping this on gladiator or something, you know. It was like a timing thing. Or like, or even Gorgon. Yeah, like every other model went at that point and like, well, this is the last guy to go. So I just just give it to dorm. A better call would have been like, do give it to Zemo. If you do two damage, now Zemo can charge Spender, hit the midline and then do a builder. So infinitely better than what giving almost max power to dorm model could do. I mean, he can't functionally spend it like a round one. Yeah. It's it wasn't great. But he's been he's been a great guy. It's been fun. I kind of like been baiting people at tournaments that he so spooky on his injured side. I think he is to they'll kill him. And then I'll just like, oh, no, weapon X exploded. And I roll the crit dice. I do three damage in a bubble. And I'll just it'll days or KO two other models like, all right, cool. Now he's coming back. He's gonna do it. He's gonna do it again. Yeah, I know sploosh played weapon X dorm at at every one or two years ago. Like the whatever the previous one before this recent one was. Yeah, and he he resurrected his weapon X. Yeah. So weapon X had four lives. So it's a good time. There's there's something that just feels silly unlike say round four of a game where someone's like, okay, I see most injured. I KOed Gorgon and weapon X is injured. Like, all right, well, now it's end of round four. Gorgon's back. And I'm for four models to your three because I'm removing guys off the board state. Like, like, oh, it's like and then they kind of just like get defeated. Like mentally that point. I'm like, the game is mine. Well, we can talk about Gorgon. I freaking Gorgon is my second favorite Dormama three threat after Zemo. So insane to have a Hulk spender on a three threat. Guaranteed throw, maybe a stagger, which feels like eight dice at a re-roll. You're probably gonna get it. Yeah, and he's got charge. Yeah, charge. He feels all the base baseline. Yep. A mixture of Zemo and Luke Cage. He's got a taunt. He's got charge. He's got his own Gorgon for higher card. It's all the Christmas list wish of what you wanted like a workhorse three threat model. Yeah, I know. I was playing like the Dorm with inhumans back in the summertime. And I was looking at it. I was like, do I need Zemo here? And I was like, wait a minute, I can just play Gorgon with Dorm. Like, surely it's good. It was I was like, oh, this is amazing actually. It's been fantastic. Yeah. Yeah. Big fan Gorgon. Gorgon Zemo are definitely my two favorites. Yeah. I mean, if they ever days Gorgon, that's he's got six hells. So he's probably on like double spender money for the next like wake up turn. Okay. So you just wake up double Hulk spender two people. Like, that's a that's my three threat. I just threw in staggered two guys and cleared the board more or less. Yeah. That's just like it's so hard to come back from getting that done to you. Yeah. And then it's a can't even frick a kill Gorgon. So he just comes back and you're like, what am I doing? Yeah. Big fan of Gorgon. Yeah. We'll talk about his card when we get there. All right. Hymdol's next. I what's the deal with Hymdol? I see the logic, but like, when are we playing this guy? Um, the logic is mid. Uh, he's my pet model. I'm trying to make work. And it's been hilariously working only because his forefend spikes have been just new king people. But that's not going to happen. I've been doing six damage on five dice forefends for some reason. I'm like eight percent or something. I was like, all right. Well, I'd days join your round. But it's he gives the rerolls. He gives the places. You can kind of goof it around if you're too cracked on power. You do a couple builders shift half your team around and get like some surprise, like displacement or not. So it's with displays mobility. Like, all right. Dorms over here now. Gladiators over here now. Seamos over there now. And now I'm still pumping out rerolls a little bit. Um, it's he's been good. I one of the fun of him is saying I'm going to ho ho fundu now of saying that's the the spender from time to all people. I've never heard this word in my life. Like what's happening? Like, oh, yeah, you know, classic spender. If I deal damage, I push you away medium. And then it's go whack a sentinel and shove him. Yeah. Medium away. Like hell. Yeah. Yeah. I, yeah, he's size five displacement. Let's go. Yeah. It's it's solid. Yeah. You know, Gorgon Ironman, uh, Harnedall, just we're going to shove the team around. It's great. It's so consistent. Yeah. I didn't even realize you can, um, the teleport is once per character. So yeah, you're basically tying, uh, you're on like man thing, like a smaller version or it's further range than man thing, but it's smaller distance. Yeah. Which seems like it should be the opposite. Like the freaking bifrost is like over them over like galaxies. Yeah. His his rerolls aren't great since it's cost two for two, but now it's range four so it matches all the other reroll giant bubble people like Shuri and Shuri Zola, I'm his wire man. So that feels like fine. And you can spend down. So I try, I try to bait people to I put Harnedall in the midline and just let him exist there and dare him to be attacked. So that if he is attacked, now there's just a bunch of rerolls online. Dorm gets his hop and a couple of not once per turn rerolls and tries to get the aggression train going with Harnedall in the middle. Yeah. Harnedall also he lets you reroll on pay to flips, which seems randomly useful. I've yet to do it because I haven't really been on a pay to flip in like a month or so, but if it happens, it could be cool. Yeah. That's another thing about I guess like, I don't know why you would play Harnedall on a pay to flip right? Cause like he's so immobile. You're probably better off just playing a mobile character. I don't know. Yeah. I've played him on lockdown and it's been kind of fun to I put him a little far forward on my lockdown. So that next round, he's self-bifrosts onto the opponents lockdown and does a couple of builders. Like they're not great, but it's I'm doing more attacks over a game like so that the spike potential could happen for happen easier and someone's like, uh, any of the game we're talking about going over analysis like, why why why I lose like I made 50 attacks and you made like seven. That's uh yep. Probably what's going to happen. Like Harnedall killed me. Yeah. He made eight attacks like in the game like over three rounds, all the four fans and then you, oh, you attacked or mom mood. Or mom will push us you. Hexas you. You did a movement. Harnedall four fans you. Awesome. Yeah. goofy little uh bit of like synergy. Yes, definitely something a lot of people could probably benefit from it. They're like find themselves complaining about Dyson. It's probably smart to just like start all right. Start counting who how many attacks each player makes. Yeah, make it just have some kind of tracker of like why do my dice fail me? Well, you attacked yeah, six times I attacked 30. So there's the difference. Yep. Yeah. Obviously you just have more chances to spike. Yeah, Marvel's just about how much dice can I roll? Like you just roll more dice in your opponent. You usually advantage. Yeah, like in my lunch me game, uh, Dormammu was effectively six dice attacks, reroll three, reroll one, reroll one. If he was in all the bubbles. So he's he's throwing like a uh was a 11 dice around. What if Ironman stacked on power? So it's probably going to work out. I mean, how consistent were you at just deleting something with that? Uh, Dormammu was the worst at the time. Uh, uh, shot, shot to name more on five dice kept doing four damage and getting like getting the spenders, getting the charges. Uh-huh. For some reason, name more on five dice was doing great. Uh, Ironman was doing great. Uh, every builder was a while. So it knocked us sentinel 12 feet away. And then there's that there's the there's the threat of a wake up turn of the enemy king black bolt could have done a bunch of cool like, uh, hit and run and spend her to get all across the map. But then backed up just outside of five because he's like, top of the round, they're going to wake up and Ironman's going to pull 30 power and nuke black bolt from orbit. So he backed away and it's like, we're going to do that. I was like 100%. If you were in range, I was going to immediately do that. Hell yeah. Oh, man. I'm I'm hyped for this list is is is exciting me. I'm stoked. Uh, all right. Yeah. What's that? No, we'll keep going. All right. And last model's rocket. Uh, gun, good. Attacks good. Uh, every game I play him, he he walks once and then makes two attacks around for every round for the rest of the game. He never moves. Uh-huh. It's just exists to be a gun. That's about it. Uh, they come close booby traps. You can do Dormammus energy to push push on reactive for Dormammu attacks and then get him into rocket, a $1 range and trap and forefend. Hmm. Some powered power spending synergy there. But overall, he's just a five dice attack. I'm just throwing a million times around. Yeah. Rocket. His spender also is pretty good with the leadership. Yeah. It's a way to bring that power and it's exactly. It's a booby traps off of that of a bubble pull, half your team and trap a couple of people if I need that extra like tick of damage. Yeah. Another thing about a rocket spender is it actually is like converting power into damage, generally, which is something rare for two threats. Yeah. Because it used to be like, I used to play a Koi a lot in a more defensive mindset of like, all right, we're on demons gamma. I need something to take attacks. But now it's getting a bit more spread out. I'm also trying to put more aggression into it of just more charges, more attacks, more fights. So, it's like, what if I just go for 100% just gas all the time? No body. One body for Gorgon, sure. But just charges and re-rolls in attacks. Yeah. I mean, how's that been going for you overall? I could be pretty good. I think pretty good. In my last like 10 games, it's been like four concessions. I'm not in one in my last 10 games. Four concessions, four tableings and one actually went to points, victory, and then that one actual loss. So it's been going great. I've just thrown a bunch of dice on a slower crisis. I'm going to grind you out over five, six rounds until I have three, four models left to your toad holding a legacy virus. And I'm scoring six to your one. I'm in a good spot. Yep. The meta was fun. Walt lasted, guys. Scenarios dead. Now we're playing smoothed out crisis. It's not like, I'm fighting Kingpin and webs on scoundrels. Now I can pick between scoundrels extremists. I'm not going to give scoundrels. I'm taking this slower thing. Yeah. All right. We can talk about cards then. So first up, you got Dark Restoration. Classic Dorm card. Yeah. Reviver three threat that just exploded whatever way she performed that it happened. Bring them back. They're healthy. Keep fighting. Good stuff. Yeah. And I mentioned the the new synergy with the leadership change earlier in the episode. And I guess do you bring this every every game with dorm? I imagine yes. Yeah. I was like, I don't know if I like Kingpin Crimson who I don't think is going to take out take out activations. Then it's every game. I'm fair enough. Your shirt to cards are patch up in sacrifice, which we talked about slightly with sacrifice earlier. A little bit. Yeah. Since I took out a coyay, I needed something to take hits for me. So sacrifice helps of like, well, here's a giant Hulk's manager. That's going to rock it. Yeah. Or you can always sense of in the dorm and then he can push them away. I did. I did do that in the Luchreed finals of, again, send those Cassandra Nova walked. What's going to do a builder against emo? I sack into dorm. She did damage fine. I push her away. So she's out of range of anything. Cool. I've displaced you on your turn. You're not not any kind of secures. You're just out in space. Also hexed. It's my turn now. And then obviously patch up it just like probably dorms best for shirt to card. Yeah. You have a 10 health leader. Your leadership is everybody gets juice on power. It's a good like powered dump and just keep the big things alive. Yep. And then I'll move on to the unrestricted card that we got. Re-cale. Stateful. Stable. Yeah. Deplay is every game with dorm. I do normally. It's like almost every game. It's like my sixth card a lot of times. So I bring a lot of like character named cards. So I'm trying to struggle how much character specific things I bring or just yeah, generically good recall for that big like attack spike. I really need to happen. Yeah. I usually yeah. dorm is the one list I use offensive recall a good amount. But yeah, it's even good on defensive stuff. Like oh, my opponent's trying to wombo me with king tea or something or a puck or just like rewind it. Yeah. Cool. I also forgot to mention dark empowerment, which you mentioned earlier. I've never really played this card. I don't know. Do you like it? Is it worth bringing? It feels fun. It's like sitting just sitting just sick and good of I talked with a friend online his name is named Dutch. You interviewed him for Hydra. Yeah. He was actually in my DMs like, hey man, what did you play to rhino with darker power? Like what's happening here? Well darker power is an allied effect to self-damage your model rhino on two power because of dorm takes a self-damage gets an ordinary is on three power and now you have round one slide online to slide punch midline or even past it to an extent. And all that damage you do goes to whatever friend you chose. So this this weird synergies with it to tack it into it feels fun though to I played it twice. One was I talked about earlier the other was just the I'd never actually played the card in the game. I just had it and it didn't come up. So it's it's called your shot card and it feels bad when it whiffs. Yeah. What about a so I mean you mentioned rhino. He's not even here. So was that like not worth it? Yeah. Because I was a little too afraid of still having too much power and taking all the damage from leadership. I still like okay more or less having more like a spend down usually somehow in in their turn. Yeah where I know rhino's not great spending down plus if he kind of needs to bring his card especially if you're playing in dorm right. He's so flush. Yeah. His card's also worse now. You don't do as much collision damage. It's cost it costs more also so you can't like spike into it as hard earlier. Yeah. All right fair enough. And then we got a slew of character cards. So we got Baron after all I mean let's go to the Zemo. Yeah great gives you charge gives you the power much later around especially when you grind it out to round four five six sometimes. Now here's here's a Zemo round six maybe just maybe just dark rest so please please Baron it's six power like cool. I'm eight eight power on Zemo. I can charge spender spender swordsman all do good sword things. Yeah I love playing it after Zemo gets resurrected. It's just like now I just couldn't like charge spender swordsman like you said and just delete something across the table which is usually what he needs to do so people get caught off guard by like oh Zemo's on a power over here across the map. I'll not worry about him. No I might turn. He just generates five power out of thin air and then flies across the map like oh Jesus. Uh huh. Yep fair and balanced. Yep. And then Royal Guardians. I really like this card with dorm. I find it hard to bring in the five. If Gorgon's out it comes out also like it's a it's like staple to him for me of if I try and time it right to get that that shotguns done out when I know I have like cover in his Zemo reroll. It feels really good just to just use that to really stunt a character's activation like do not do all like a king tea or something of go behind cover you can't see me shocked and stunned or just even just the repositioning part of it to bounce off of a point or outside of some kind of special range. Someone needs it for. Yeah that's something else I learned on doing these crystals interviews as a Vic also said that he he opts to play Royal Guardians like really quickly in a game just to get those conditions out. Yeah whereas like here's for higher does not play like that and that's how I've been playing Royal Guardians and that's probably why I feel like it's fine but not amazing. Yeah. And maybe I just needed alter how I was playing it. It's been cool. It's been fun. Yeah I love it. Um and then we mentioned Protect of the Empire which is Gladiators card. Yeah just got your back card you use it with your body guards or sacrifices or just yeah just some small model out in space. Hope they could hit. Yeah totally. Do you bring it every game with Glad? Yeah pretty much. Yeah imagine. Yeah imagine it's good. They have to die you an enemy effect right yeah because the enemy right to kill them right yeah okay. Yeah he can't exactly have Gladiator punching your Dramamu and his cleanup face. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah you could weapon actually you monster. Yeah that's that's where I was going with it. Um and then Helios which we talked about good spirit ball we need the the big thing the A-Pock the other Dramamu gun. Yeah I mean do you play have you Helios and the A-Pocks? I've I haven't seen an A-Pock in the I think since MiniStreft came out not because like you got bad everything it's just my local medas or my all-enternamins they got knocked out in some way she performed like that's why I thought sentinels that something bad happened that A-Pock got knocked out. I need to go look at this lunch me it sounds like this is some interesting developments there. It was I had a weird path myself to get to the the finals. Fair enough and then the last card is lethal protector. Yeah yeah that's my kind of variable fourth-threat slot with venom any other it's stable to them if any other fourth-threat comes in like say like red red skull three or mass of the world it'll be cosmic oblet if I don't have a space space for it or I'll have a character card then it's one of the warpath. Maybe maybe joint effort but that's like a hard maybe. Yeah I imagine that that card probably never sees play anyways. Yeah it's like you're like 10 it's like you're 11th card pretty much. Yeah okay we can talk about secures real quick first up is marifisc so I'm huge marifisc fan with dorm like I was like dorm is the best thing I've ever fisc even when people are playing eyehulk and I don't think anything's changed there. No it's it's still been great people people don't give me 16 because they think I have like some insane 16 of maybe but that's also because I'm playing open affiliation so they don't know if it's going to show up going dorm two threes in rocket or dorm gladiator also rocket and yeah play three wide against four like all right every round gladiators not on the point charging killing something. Yeah I would typically play red skull two there with the zemo and done you get the grunts but I see that you can play name you can play name more here just fine I think like I play name on fisc it's fine like the trick with fisc is like you just need a model that can stand on it like dorm can stand on the thing like he's fine standing on it generally. Yeah I try to just not win it for the first like three rounds just keep it at parity and then enough models are injured or KO'd or something until all right now I can just kind of freely score stun I don't care about stun at this point of everybody's to to juice up. Yeah and you can also let them score around one if you get like a big fat stun on a bunch of guys. Yeah it feels it feels great to get the dorm goes round two I do eight damage or something sap all sap all your power because of the skulls but stun you get one power back now you run three on your six thread has a power like nice yeah let's start not great. Yeah Marifus is crazy with dorm and then we got intrusions also quite good with dorm. Yeah I mean I play that with like all the charge models of like Gorgon weapon X Zemo ever ever the midline we're all bouncing around the points. I like to goof it with people and put like heimdall and rocket near those things so when they teleport that's a that's a movement and then try and trap some like all right here's a here's heimdall doing a strike on your turn with maybe a Zemo Ironman rerolls stack through and hope to that you're like long shot intrusion that you needed to hop through and do a damage on someone that I just take you on your own turn. Yeah brutal. The intrusion's dice is always just cryptic and like never what you need at the time like I need this like to go through to sell port like two skulls in a row like oh my god. Yeah I've lost a game to heimdall enemy heimdall just one shot in my black cat with the swing I'm just like god yeah that was in the olden days and then we talked about lockdown I definitely can see the range two contestants being insane for this list. Yeah it's a it's kind of a boon for weapon X since I think the measurement works out just enough that you have a little bit of give that weapon X the man can charge contests that range two like backpoint of the opponent and get the boosted dice. Right so you can throw out a lot of aggression really early. Yeah I mean have you measured like if dorm sitting at like max range two off of like your home one like how far does this gun go. It's got it's got it's got to be pretty far I think it covers like the other two points not the diagonal cross one but it will cover. Yeah the like yeah just two other it might it probably covers like the inside it might even cover like the entirety of the box like the inside of the box so yeah. I mean I've been enjoying kind of goofing around with plain I just I just put dorm smack in the middle and usually behind all so dorm just exists in the middle turdine whatever he needs to and tries to hop somewhere and then some later part of the round. I'm gonna walk up by frost dorm back to some secure just to score it hmm because they'll ignore him if he's not on securely I don't need to deal with him he's not contesting anything then I'm not just will he'll fix it and it'll it'll all work out like now he's scoring a thing like oh my god yeah and then dorm can also port himself next round to make more shots these kind of yo-yo in that way it's pretty cool yeah so they like they'll try to put like a slow on them or something like no I'll just range to place twice every round and get all the movement I need without conditions be damned and then we got deadline I don't know I like deadline general like it's good it's okay it's tight I bring rocket there's my backpoint center because a range five gun reaches at least if you're on the edge facing the other side deadline you get the full coverage of like another point so whichever one gets overloaded rocket just shuffles to the other side of his back point to cover and fire off on the other one yeah I played red school a lot he had here on deadline and obviously the ground's just on the back point and then it's been pretty good it usually again it's like red school is really good he's dicey I think he has less merit in today's game because people won't give you marifisc yeah his biggest asset was the grounds on marifisc but yeah it helps some deadline but you can always break him into three in a two which is what your list is doing yeah I try to always go four wide all the time I've kind of stopped doing three wide because when I lose a activation from something now on two models like that feels I'll have the economy to do stuff now yeah it's it's really scary and we got mcron I assume this is just like the least bad of what's left pretty much yeah like nobody really gives it to me because it's it's a tight shape it's extra power generation so now I love high adult he'll go grab an extract go sit on a macran and he generates four power I turn now between him as guard and a macran kind of thing so everyone's flush with power and it's just over the top on like having options to do it's I'm okay I'm about to charge them all trying to fix things I needed to be to shift around and everything but it's it's the least bad yeah I'm kind of surprised to see a Nazi meteors here actually I've just shied away a bit from the other pay-to-flips meteors people just leave them sometimes and you need to have the move to get across all the way to the board here and there and macran is just a tighter okay shape fair enough extracts we can start with hammers I mean dorm is extremely stupid on hammers so yeah round one you can if you get good good terrain you can grab two hammers no matter what besides a knic fury and just all right rest of the round or rest of the game it's I'm throwing eight eight dice count and scores yeah it's it's pretty pretty nutty so yeah 18 threats good yeah hammers is crazy with dorm yeah then you got scrolls I don't know your list is like good on scrolls I imagine yeah like I got name more just to safe grab or punish and not safe grab on a scroll Zimo grabs the middle one and then I've the rest of the threat to fill out for generic scenario things and usually at 20 threat is like the peak threat I like because let's we play a three four and a five so it's name more is Zimo it's if it's a Iron Man or Venom or something so it's a I make the double double bubble bunker play for parity and then fight yeah okay I I found dorm to be better at lower threats personally but I found at 19 it got a little dicey but that could be because I was playing red skull who's like you can just explode randomly yeah and the old the old leadership didn't help either so and then we got virus just slow yes slow it's midline high threat yeah all stuff I like yeah it's stackable which could be tricky but usually they don't get all three of them unless like something really bad happened on my end yeah I find the virus like the comp combining the viruses to get the bonus points is definitely like somebody has to opt into it I find like if people just walk away with one of the things like it will never happen I think I see it happen three times in like the years I've played this game even before any credit crisis change just the thing doesn't get assembled besides a really good kingpin player toss those things around right so you say that that I it I hadn't so before I got nerfed it was broken like you could play mission objective and R&D and bull black hat and all this dumb stuff and you can assemble it trivially but after they nerfed it to be like six points and only in the cleanup phase it blows up it uh I I've assembled it I assembled it never and until norcal classic and Carl con this year were both of my final games of those tournaments I did it each time and I was like I was like I haven't done this in like two years and I've done it twice in like a month somehow I I watched some some stream game like maybe six nine months ago uh is looking at in a discord lobby that just they're just playing the two players I think they were remembering it was the old way of how it assembled but uh one player got all three viruses on one of their models like a high threat like uh some five threat model and then like all right well I'm gonna score six and then score three except three viruses and then this many secures like oh no he he explodes like oh oh no now I'm like now this this guy was down he was already down a model or two from just chaos and now he lost his like five threats it's like now it's wang and zemo versus a five man team on like yeah extremist or something like oh this is gonna go bad yeah fire is exploding like doesn't win you the game you probably lose unless you're like blowing up a toe or something so I wasn't gonna try it on like uh on dorm just to some three threat assembles it explodes and then just bring it right back yeah I mean I yeah I doubt that would even like it would even matter like you if that happens like you just such a win more probably oh yeah I would have said yeah totally like you already have all the viruses which means they're probably just dead all right and we got in human weapons um I don't know similar to meaty or a virus midline single hold good and fighting uh the beam is like whatever nobody uses the beam besides like Nick Fury grunts so it's just good and slow-ish high threat ish yeah yeah we mentioned there's like a small nerf with dorms like count skulls with the weapon attacks um yeah I don't know it's fine it's on the midline um I'm curious to not see like Montessi books here instead uh I'm just a little half paranoid of like losing prior to and if they have a safe grab positioned then they just grab it now I'm down extra acts the rest of the game this one's at least more parody sure yeah typically well if I have to sell Montessi a little bit one now you can randomly go first on it yeah which is pretty cool so their safe grab doesn't matter and then I don't know they're like you're probably you're playing it one of there's a one of the secures that like you picked I guess if it's like your Montessi books and then you can I always found you can chase people down and like if the secures on the midline like there is no safe grabbing so in my old game a launch days I would bring Montessi because it was that was a goofy as hell strategy uh I'm I need to try it not not game a lot but I'll try Montessi and like see which one like how it feels with the new crisis I haven't played Montessi since may strap yeah like the thing with Montessi also I like is that on inhuman weapons like yeah it's on the midline but you kind of have to go like somebody has to go get something on your dorm team and that can be risky whereas like Montessi books like your rocket can just grab or dorm even can grab the home one and then now you just like don't have to play the extract at all if you don't want to and you can go like chase somebody down or something so I don't know not having to commit people to the midline if you don't want to is attractive to me yeah it could it could come in for sure yeah I'm still I mean we're in a freshly world with a special adepticon in a couple of months to make a fresher newer world yeah yeah uh all right Joe breaks last uh it's uh talk to me about this scenario so it it resets every rounds you don't really have to worry about like you're being a civilian within humans like tear genesis kind of stuff it's super high threat it's weirdly wide which is okay but it's mostly a constant power tax that you can as dorm you always have the power to someone some freezer a model or some whatever block can go and walk and grab it and then top of the round if you have prio say you charged your Zemo down near their point you can just charge get to that get to their back point and take their civilian and leave and now they're chasing you down into your territory to get like the the extract back so people can't run they can't run away with it and now and plus it's the range five thing they can't go to the edges because it'll just drop so you can kind of goof it to force middle fights or it all just clumps on some side of the board if you can try and keep stealing their points yeah that makes sense yeah I also find it's like just slow like and also like I think you can deploy dorm on top of one of them yeah because they're they're deshaped back that you can you can touch them yeah right on uh is there anything you want to add I actually I would like to ask you about like matchups and stuff if you don't yeah sure yeah I like how do you how do you feel like dorms matchups are today like what feels good what feels bad uh what what feels bad is usually like the school unlocking models and affiliations like your invaders your new like web warriors like silk and usm or miles web warriors because it's a lot of your dramamu output is opponent schools and a smart invaders player oh I stacked a bubble with three reels and everything's like I'll take them one at a time so I don't just get yeah the schools on accident and just days myself like he knows the tricks you you kind of end up liking to fight people who are standard five wide teams with natural reels that don't unlock schools so fight it off on I guess in humans it's pretty good because you'll you can hex like black bolt one and kind of curb his damage output and usually you'll have prio so you can have a gorgian or something throughout that uh a goo crusher attack and try and get that stagger off plus all the natural reels between just being in humans they'll probably people have to have to mental game of questioning do I re-roll and if this is a one and eight at the school I could just lose the mod this model so it puts a mental strain on your opponent of yeah the dice math is like flubbed because my attack is my six attack dice and one eighth of your defense dice versus three eighths of their of their defense faces so it could they could just lose activations or the game from a random school that popped up the yes it's uh it's scary stuff yeah I mean so like have you felt good into everything else basically like if you just play your game yeah pretty much because everyone like everyone plays plays five wide usually running four wide so you have like constant prio unless you really overdid the attrition and most people kind of they forget the rules on things because normally dorm has been a dark horse so they're like they forget the push happens and they'll position like like miles one will swing in do the spender make dorm drop an extract they go out I'm gonna pick it up now like sir we're in the aftertack results results step and I'm gonna push my problems away and they're like oh my god like I don't know the fourth time they're pushing that game like I've done this a handful of times you're not learning the lesson uh-huh so it yeah it goes pretty well right on yeah I've been excited for dorm to start playing him again uh I'm sure I'll play some dual faction with him we'll see so the uh I'm a part of a group called the meetman and we're all trying to goof around and find who's gonna make their who's gonna have the best dual faction dorma mu in the next lunch meet whenever gets posted January and we're trying to claim affiliations some are playing like invaders shield dorm I'm trying to dig dig dig around with like asgard dorma mu there's other like new mutants because it's Curtis uh or like keball or something we're trying to figure out which which duals gonna be the best one yeah I uh I mean my my initial like hypothesis is I'm why not just put a puck with him yeah yeah all the all the cool three threats that dorm loves uh there's the good the good three's of apoc yeah exactly like you could probably still play zemo and like you probably don't have space for gorgon and like weapon X and stuff I wouldn't I would really only like if I could pick anybody I'd pick gorgon but I mean gambit and magic and Deadpool I'm sure are serviceable oh yeah I mean you can have your 17th threat playing of apoc of apoc the three threes and a two and then just the other five five slots is your beefier 18 upthreats if you're confident on those kind of numbers yeah you would still need to you kind of need four threes for for the uh for the 18 unless you play oh I guess you could play like like a four thread you had to play an apoc four thread which I don't know if I'm sold on but not it's probably not great yeah if one of them was like good with dorm then I could see it but I don't think I'm super stoked about any of it a funny match if I am kind of worried about is going to call con and uh how many dorm mom lose are gonna show up this time around oh god we there's already so many I think it was seven and there's a second second most played faction at call con uh no and that was in the bat the old school bad dorm days of like old old power old power face stuff old wild saps and everything now it's he's good now this is gonna be 30 people with the with the duel dude speaking of that there was this year carcane as somebody walked up to me they were like dude thank you so much for like preaching about dorm because I wouldn't have tried him otherwise and I absolutely love him like that's what they told me and I'm like cool awesome I don't know if I like am I I'm being hoisted by my own batard here of like uh I I won the lunch beat I got my like badge back and then a bunch of DMs started coming in of just random people go like hey man like or I'm getting pinged in from from fan server like hey what do you think about this it's like I'm gonna tell you what I've been told to tell everybody else bring all the charge models don't put this guy in there this is bad don't play bat black cat just fight that's what you want to do yeah yeah just just just just fight us just kill people yeah it's fine pick the pick the slow crisis and just fight you don't have to worry about like uh senators and we're at scoundrels just pick whatever's your good your least force secure that they got if they have prior and you're have your extracts they're all slow you're gonna do great nobody can save for everybody more yeah all right uh well that brings us mostly to the end but first um I'm gonna ask you where where can people find you if they want to ask you those questions or uh anything you can plug yeah uh I'm on uh I mean I'm on the currently on the leaderboard of long shanks for the drama moose so just look look for Brady your mom moves Schroeder and it had my discord link in there and I'm on taco truck oh whole hell a lot I'm stealing a couple of other discord so if you at Brady I'm probably in there like danger room or games to audience I just I just a lurk and see what kind of people are posting well uh I think that's the end uh real quick uh listeners this is uh this is the final episode so if you if you listen to all these in the series I just want to say I thank you I appreciate it this was a lot of work to put through and uh hopefully you have a good holidays even though this will be out after Christmas so uh good job man I've learned episodes I've listed the black order I'm like this is pretty cool stuff uh black order episode is actually really good despite what you would think yeah despite it being black order yes good strats of thoughts like this is legit yeah no I was like when I was gonna do the Christmas episodes and I'm like oh god who am I gonna how am I even gonna do a black order episode like who's even playing this faction and then I yeah I brought I brought a Nikki on and he he did a great job like I was I was listening to the episode and I'm like wow this stuff's actually like insightful and cool and I'm in it that's for fun yeah okay uh listeners thank you for listening and see you next time

Summary:
FAQs
Dormammu's triggers are now more consistent and skull-based, with his leadership moving to the activation phase to prevent self-damage. His spender now requires attack successes plus a skull, and he gained the Peerless keyword, restricting certain team compositions.
Against Loki 2, Dormammu's new skull-spawning mechanic results in both characters counting skulls twice, effectively neutralizing the advantage. This makes attacks against Loki 2 function like regular attacks, relying on actual attack successes.
You can sequence Dark Restoration to revive a model after it dies in the cleanup phase, allowing it to return fresh and healthy for the next round. This works well with models like Corvus Glaive or Weapon X to maximize value.
Gladiator is chosen for his ability to charge and throw buildings early, dealing high damage with positive dice. However, he risks self-damage from Dormammu's leadership if he accumulates too much power without spending it down.
The player adopted Dormammu to counter competitive local metas featuring strong teams like Wakanda Thanos and Sentinels. Dormammu's consistency and early-game impact made him effective against these matchups.
The old leadership occurred in the power phase, allowing opponents to manipulate it against the Dormammu player. Models could be left with low health to trigger self-damage, causing activation loss and reducing effectiveness.
