Dancing With The Symbolism: Wednesday, October 21st, 2026
1h 10m 31s
The episode of "The Toast" reflects on the emotional highs and lows of "Dancing with the Stars" dedication night, focusing on heartfelt performances that highlight personal and familial bonds. Tyler Cameron’s tribute to his mother, culminating in a gender reveal, is described as deeply emotional and overwhelming, with many viewers finding it too intense and commercially charged. Ezra and Alec’s dance, centered on a mother’s lifelong support despite disabilities, moves viewers to tears, underscoring the power of personal stories. In contrast, Julia Stiles’ tribute to Heath Ledger is criticized as exploitative and lacking authentic connection, relying on pop culture without real-life ties or permission. Other dances, such as Harry Shem Jr.’s tribute to his wife and parents, are praised for emotional depth and authenticity, while others, like Tatiana’s Irish dedication, are seen as impersonal or surface-level. The hosts explore broader themes of motherhood, legacy, and identity, emphasizing how personal stories resonate deeply with audiences. The episode also promotes several brands—Squarespace, David Protein, Reef, and Momentous—with each offering a relevant product solution and a unique promotional code. The overall tone balances emotional reflection with critical analysis, showcasing both the beauty and shortcomings of the show’s dedication format.

I left a corner with for Jackie, but I happened to have not had breakfast this morning. I took a preemptive tum. I do feel like I might have gestational diabetes. I was actually chatting with a friend who does have it. And not that I was jealous of her anything, but she was like 39 weeks pregnant. She was like, you know, ever since I found out, I've only gained one pound. That obviously is attractive to me, but she's like, but it's hell. And anytime-- - Oh, I know. - She was like, any time I'll cheat, like just be like fucking like half a slice of pizza, I feel so horrible and I have to like go for like a 20 minute walk. And some of the things she was describing, like kind of, like I do feel that. Like anytime I eat, like I feel like garbage when I don't eat. So I'm thinking maybe I have gestational diabetes. So I'm just going like extra hard right now, just in case these are my last couple of meals. It's really true of pregnancy. Like whether or not you have GD, like if you eat like crap, you will feel like crap. Like-- - But unfortunately like you need to eat like crap to survive. - I know. But I do think like the content, like just here on the podcast, and like maybe my chef could like make videos with me, I do think that the concept of it like seems exciting. And then of course, like being done gaining weight. - Yes. - I just honestly, I don't think I would need a chef. I think I would need like an institution. I would need to be straight jacketed up with my meals like fed through a feeding tube. - You should put a print again. - Yeah, I have no self control. No self control. I can't even ranch. - No, no, you need a chef, I think. Like that's to make like pizza for you. - Yeah. - No sugar. - Ben would really need to quit all of his jobs. - I don't think that he could, and I don't think that would be good for your relationship. I think you would need to hire a chef, Cardboard. - Okay, the same hiring a chef, Cardboard. It's not even the cost thing, 'cause I didn't even bring that up, you did. But let's say you're sure, I splurge first chef, that person's like in my space all day long, do they live at your house? Like, I think I could go home at the end of the night. - Then all day, they're in my house. You know, I hate people in my house. - Or maybe like the night before they prepare your breakfast so that like, then they come around. - So meal prep? - No, no, no, but like. - I need to be plated. Meal prep, like coming, I have to like heat it up in a tub or where I would never meal prep, 'cause it's all that presentation for me. Meal prep is gave leftovers, and you know, I don't like leftovers. - I'm so glad that we're like figuring out how you're going to survive the fantasy. - Hypothetical, yeah. - Yeah, and you can also reach out to those who came before you, like Dana Holtzberg, like Alex Cooper. - Of course, like our friend Margot, that's what I was talking to. - Yeah. - Okay. - Sample resources. - Yeah, I'll definitely reach out to Alex Cooper. Hey girl, have any recipes for gestational diabetes? - He definitely got a chef. - 1,000%. If I sold my show to a serious XM for 125 million dollars, I would also have a chef. - And not just 'cause I had GD, like just 'cause I liked GD. - I don't think she has a chef like 24/7? No, I think she-- well, I don't know. I really don't know.
- We don't know her at all. - But I think she got a GD chef for sure. - By the way, I don't know if this is like a job, but if you are a chef looking for a niche, wealthy women who have gestational diabetes, I think it would be a very well-paying job because you would pay a lot just to be satisfied. - Of course, and you could have pizza. If you, they're making their own dough. - That was gross. - I guess, should I be your chef? - Or like this is a family piece. - You cook like very much like in, 'cause you cook for your kids. You cook very much in my. - It's true, like it kills me to use sugar in a recipe. I'm always hitting off that trivia. - How are you supposed to do this among the food sweeter? - That's my favorite. So maybe I'll get a chef, maybe won't. - Maybe I'll fail, maybe I'll pass. The time. - Oh, the test. - The test, I don't have that coming up for you. - I don't know, they brought it up on my last appointment and I didn't really like to ask my questions 'cause I'm dreading it, like that drink. When I drank that drink last time, I was like, you guys are so dramatic. Like it really tastes good, it tastes like Sprite. 10 minutes later, you will wanna die. It's a worse feeling in the world, I've never felt, probably worse in my life. - It doesn't taste good. I've never done it down here. I was trying to recall, I'm like, what's this? Where do I go down? I've never done it in Florida. - No, they do, a Dr. Fox that give you this little straw and you have to chug it and then-- - And we don't do that new fangled one. - There is like a crunchy mama's version of people like, do you do the blank one? No, I just go OJ, I'm like an old school like that. - I know, I don't know why. I feel like the new fangled one is like-- - I'm just trying to hear about someone taking the new fangled one they do fail. - Yeah, yeah. Anyways, okay, a conversation for another day, you know? - Yeah, I just feel like I have more to tell you, but it's not coming to me. - Okay, well maybe this-- - Oh, just something I'm personally dealing with. I'm pretty sure in my car, there's a duty diaper. - And I can't find it. And every time I turn, I get like a whiff of it. I use this duty diaper. Don't be rude, don't be fucking rude, Mitch. - I get this duty diaper with. When I got into the car this morning, I really smelled it. And then I found some like bowls we, like Ben Cook dinner and brought it to your house last night. So they were like some bowls. I'm like, oh, maybe it was like the smelly food. - The bowls are at my house still. - No, who picked them up? They were literally in my back seat. So when I was looking, I'm like, oh, maybe the bowls are smelly. And I called Ben, I'm like, I can't believe we left the bowls in the car. I'm driving and I'm like, the smell is not going away. And it smells like poop. I'm telling you, somebody changed the diaper in the trunk and like, it's rolling around. I can't find it. - Oh gosh, oh, a year ago I was as strongly as mine at the moment. - It's a national nightmare, honestly. - Maybe I'll come help you. I'm going to find these stuff. - Yeah, you are. And my car is clean. My Volvo arrives today. - Your Volvo? - Sorry, my Volvo arrives today. - I'm excited to see it. - So am I. I haven't seen it. Ben went to the dealership and got it for me. - I'm like a car junkie. - I'm a little worried only because I've, like, I've seen the car like once or twice, not in recent memory. And when Ben was like, we need to get another car. I was like, just, every time I get a car and I think about the Volvo, I'm like, I don't want to make a decision, I'm like, just do it. I've seen a couple on the road. I'm like, oh, I hope that's not my car. Like, I just don't think it's like so chic. - Oh god, like, you're so concerned. - I'm very shallow when it comes to cars. Absolutely. - What was my question for you? - That's beautiful. I don't know. - It's gonna be a great one. - What color did I get it in? - Well, I'd like to know that. - Black. - Oh. But then I did see a TikTok. Like, talking about how cool Volvo moms are. It was just like this gay guy being like this. Nothing chic than a mom in a Volvo. And I'm like, okay, that's literally me. - Actually, don't know anyone at present who drives a Volvo. - There's not a lot of people who can reach that level of elite status. And the one person I do know, she's so cool. - Oh, that's why you got it. - Yeah, yeah, I copied my friend. - That's why she got it, understood. - Well, I had a question about your Volvo. - Not my Volvo? - No. - I had plenty of answers for you. - What was I gonna ask you about your Volvo? I don't know. I still come to me later. - We were just so forgetful today. - I know. - Fucking donuts. I remember we had mold in the Hamptons. - Yeah. - Now we have sugar in Florida. - It was just like such a tasty bite. But like, nothing good will come of it. - Oh, I had such an amazing experience eating the donut. And the monitor was on. I was sitting right here. - I hadn't even had it. I didn't finish my drinks this morning. So I didn't even have my coffee. And I start my day with a donut. - It's gonna be okay. Like, I want you to-- - Like, next time, do you want me to bring eggs? - Oh, please don't bring eggs. - Someone bring-- - You could bring your own eggs, sad. - Hash browns. - Sure, sure. - No, it's not for Tata. - It's to be treated. And a box of donuts for me. These weren't from Dunkin' Donuts. They were more of like an artisanal bakery. But like a box of donuts is so nostalgic to me. And I have such positive memories. It's like someone's birthday in middle school. - I know. - And it's just like fun. A box of donuts is like never about anything. - It also makes me feel like we work in a real workplace where it's like, oh, someone brought donuts. - Yeah, right. Oh, it's Nancy's birthday. (laughs) - So it's like, oh, there's donuts in the office. - Yeah, there's four of us. - It's so corporate, water-cooler. It was one of the four of us in six donuts. - Who brought them? - They were dropped off. - Oh, right, right. - By like, I'll tell you later. - A connection. - Yeah, right. - Mutual, a mutual connect. - The classic office stuff. - Exactly. - Okay, well, let's get into the fast-by-stories that you to do need to know. - And the fast-by-stories that you need to know are brought to you by Squarespace, the all-in-one website platform designed to help you stand out and succeed online. Today's episode is also brought to you by David Protein, which can now be found at Walmart stores nationwide and on Walmart.com. So we talk about David a lot. They are the protein bar and the gold packaging that you're probably seeing everywhere. They popped up like last year and they are so popular. Mostly because of CFP, which is the protein to Cali, very ratio. They have 20 grams of protein, which is obviously really good for a bar. That's like super high, but they have 150 calories, which is crazy low. So it's 75% calories from protein, which is CFP. It's the highest protein to calorie ratio of any leading bar in the market. They come in really good flavor. It's like very creative. I think a lot of the protein bar flavors, like the industry could definitely use a shake up. Everyone's just doing like chocolate and peanut butter. And obviously they have like, you know, nice chocolate and peanut butter flavors over at David, but they also have red velvet. They have cake batter. They have cinnamon roll. That was actually the flavor of the donut that I had. That's what we should have eaten instead of the donut. We would be feeling a lot better. And as you know, most protein bars and donuts are packed with excess calories and sugar. Well, David is different. They deliver the most protein for the fewest calories. It's great for staying full, hitting your protein goals. If you're on a GLP1, and you're really trying to keep up with your protein, or if you're off of a GLP1, and like really trying to stay full, so good to have these bars on hand. If you're just like a swirly who likes to stay full during the day and like a bar, sometimes you just don't have time for a full meal, or like a midday pick me up and a school drop offline, David is a great option. I also now make protein shakes. Don't take our word for it. Go grab one for yourself. Head to Walmart today to stock up on four counts of your favorite flavors, like blueberry pie, salted peanut butter. You can check out Walmart.com to find a store near you. That's David Protein and Walmart.com. Today's episode is also brought to you by Reef. As you can tell by my cozy card again. Cozy season is officially upon us. And Reef's Weekend Collection is full of comfy boots and clogs that you'll be reaching for all season long. The ridiculously comfortable collection includes slip on boots and clogs all lined up with faux shearling or faux fur to keep you cozy and warm. They've got cloud-like cushioning for all day comfort, weather-friendly leather on the outside, and that's perfect for winter weather. The best part is that they're meant to wear outside of the house, so you can bring that cozy comfort with you wherever you go. Reef is a super popular shoe brand. You guys probably know it from their sandals, which I think are their most popular, but a lot of people don't realize their other categories like clogs. I love a slip on shoe, obviously. My belly's getting in the way these days, and sometimes that doesn't even have to do with pregnancy. So having shoes that you could just slip on that are so cozy that you can wear all day. I just feel like it's women of a certain age. When you choose that we can wear all day, the whole idea of swapping out, we're not doing that. We've got school pickup, we've got work, we've got school drop off, we've got it all. It's also a great time to start thinking about holiday gifting for a woman in your life who appreciates cosiness. I know a couple of people like that. They also make kids stuff, men's stuff too, so you can get a bunch of people on your list taking care of when you go to reef. We also have a code, code toast, T-O-A-S-T. Use that for 15% of your first order at reef.com/toast. It's a great time to shop early. A lot of the fan favorite styles and colors do sell out during the holidays, so I keep saying it's kind of early to shop for holiday, but it's actually not, we're almost in November, you guys. So reef.com/toast, the code is T-O-A-S-T, 15% off, code toast, R-E-F.com. Today's episode is also brought to you by a momentous. So creatine, actually everyone's starting my creatine. It's one of the most researched and effective supplements available, but the category is exploded and a lot of brands that are making creatine focus on flavors, formats, marketing, instead of actually making the creatine itself the best it could be. And that's why momentous created signature spec creatine. It's their most advanced creatine ever. It sets a new standard for creatine quality. Their signature spec creatine is one of the only creatines to be manufactured in a pharmaceutical facility. They use reverse osmosis water for your vacation and is verified through an expanded six stage testing process with four independent agents.
creatine is actually very popular for women specifically, but you want to make sure you're taking the best. Mementus is like such a popular brand and such a well-respected brand for their supplements. So when it comes to creatine, this is no different. They've improved the product experience with an ultra-fine powder. It mixes effortlessly. I'm not going to get a clump, I'm sorry, there's nothing like a powder clump. It's disgusting. The benefits of creatine are real, especially for women supporting strength, power, lean muscle growth, recovery, improved cognitive performance. So if you want to try the Mementus Signature Spec Creatine, head to LiveMementus.com. Use our code toast for up to 35% off your entire first order. That donut is really catching up with me like, okay, a girl who's going to be okay. First story, dancing with the stars recap, dedication night features a lot of tears and a lot of love. So let's go in order. I'm just pulling up our group chat because I love this thing where we like group chat all night long. I was behind, so my commentary is not. But I want to remember my thoughts. Yeah. Kim Herjvik, guest judge. What do you have to say Claudia? So I texted this in the group chat, but obviously it was very difficult for me to see like my ops wife on the stage. Let me tell you, she was so dazzling, first of all she was an amazing judge. I think that Fran from Chicks in the Office, she said this on her story and I totally agree with it. I kind of do need four judges. There's not like a good balance and she was so, she should be permanent. Like, I loved her. And you know what? I like that's Robert Herjvik's wife. Unfortunately, I do have to think more positively of Robert Herjvik. And do you believe like that they were separated more because she obviously seems like an upstanding woman? Well, I will say this. When I imagine, I didn't watch Robert Herjvik season and I actually never even heard of Kim Johnson Herjvik until I started watching it through the stars. So I did assume that she was like a 21 year old dancer that he like left his wife for. Oh, did you think that this whole time? I thought she was like super young, she's like a woman, she's a woman, um, it's age appropriate. Yeah. I don't know. It was a very good night for Robert Herjvik. I just want to say he wasn't even there. Yeah. I loved her. She's dazzling, like truly elegant. She's a jewelry. Obviously, she's like, she's a better budget for jewelry now and we are reaping the benefits. Yes. She was a very good judge and I think she judges like every season, like one and a half. Yeah. So yeah, I remember last season. Okay. So we went to the night as we know, Val was bench. They made mention of it at the beginning of the show and then in Jenna's package once and then they handled it. Well, that's not making about as much as Jenna's mom. They didn't like drag him or Alan. Alan was basically invisible. Like, I honestly forgot he was there and it's kind of how you're approaching me. He was a very good sub because he just like me, he was like a stand in almost. Absolutely. First, we had Ezra Frech ending Alec Haragash. They danced to Ezra's mom. He talked about how, you know, his mom has made him the person that he is, given him the confidence that he has, despite his disabilities, that she's made him feel like he can do anything. This is what I wrote in the group chat. I'm violently shaking crying with Ezra and his mom, like the videos of him as a baby with one leg question mark. I'm going to need to be institutionalized. I felt sick. I actually could not recover the whole night. First of all, his mom was beautiful. Yeah. And when they talked about she was in a couple of movies. She had this big career that she really gave up to take care of her son and like be his biggest advocate, like just in terms of his confidence, but also like a medical advocate, like, you guys, I was actually not fucking okay, like, and if they showed me one more fucking picture of him as a baby, like I was going to throw myself off the roof. Like, I couldn't recover. And then on my phone, my phone must know I was like having a breakdown. They're showing me all these clips of him on J. Shetty. He just went on J. Shetty. He just felt like he met his parents. I was not okay. Like, I really was not okay. I fucking loved him, Alec Haragash. And you know what? You know what? It was a good night for a lot of men on my list because you know what I'm like kind of obsessed with now? Pasha. Like that's Daniela's man. When he won, I was cracking up like, no, I'm obsessed. Yeah. No, this was really beautiful. It's a really strong way to start the night and probably what maybe between like him and Tyler, like the most emotional dances of nothing as a competition. It actually is a competition. Yeah. Right. Like the definition. And it was just too much. Like what a woman. Jackie, I wasn't okay. The next sex. No, I am sick. Like really not okay. I have to turn it off. I was so. I can't imagine it. And then had finally left the room to go watch next to the other. I was really, really upset. Like, it was just so beautiful. It was the perfect way to start the night. And honestly, like the bar was really high. So I'm in Tatiana came next and she was doing a dedication to not a family member. But like, I'm publicly bigger. You know, because I have my thoughts about it, Julia Stiles doing that. So I thought that, you know, maybe Ezra would sort of make her look bad, but I have to say it was really beautiful. Yeah. She danced with Alfonso, which is so cute. I died. Like, it was so cute. First of all, like, so dancing with the stars family. I do think that you don't hear about toxic workplace, fresh prints. Like, I think it was this like show where like the older characters really looked out for the young kids. I think James Avery was like an amazing guy. I like that she made a point in her speech at the end, like, thank his family for allowing. Like, so they had permission of the family. It didn't be exploitive at all. No. It felt really sweet. And I think if you're not going to go for a family member, I'm judging you. It was a little bit harder. I really am because so many people like opened up a vein last night. And it's like, well, you're doing it to Heath Ledger. Like, it needs to be special. Honestly. Yes. And I think Tatiana's had the potential to not be special, but it was Alfonso, like, was a really beautiful addition. And the dance was sickening. First of all, I think being these Waltz is the hardest one. That's just what I think. She slayed it. I loved the costume. I loved the dance. Hershey sang. She sang. I love that. She is my girl. Like, I'm telling you, and I'm so glad somebody said you're most improved. Like, she really is. She's trying so hard. And she's really giving it all physically, emotionally, the package is like, I loved it. Loved. Yeah. It was really beautiful. And I can love that. Y'all. Next. We have more Higgins in Mark Palace. They danced to her home country of Ireland. They brought in a six-time world champion Irish step dancer, named Locklin Lucky Howard. And they danced to I'm shipping up to Boston, which is kind of like an Irish jig. And they also did the pasta doble. So there was a lot going on. Like Irish dancing, pasta doble. A little bit of River Dance. Ireland. Yeah. So this is another example of somebody who kind of went really impersonal. And it made me realize that like more really hasn't shared a lot on the show about her life or her. But she gets away with it because she's so dazzling. She's funny. And she provides in other ways. And you don't have to bleed out in order for me to like you. But I just felt like it was a little bit surface. The dance was cute as hell. Like, I thought the River Dance or Irish jig. It was really cute. I loved the dress. The song was great. Like, I didn't have any problems with it. But when I look at like just the rest of the night, it just felt a little bit like impersonal. I actually was fine with the dedication. I liked the various elements. I actually thought the dance, her performance itself was not that strong. And I thought she had so many great makings like the Ireland, the song, the pasta doble. It's also strong. And then I just felt like she kept pulling faces. And it just like wasn't giving strength. And she's a really good performer. So I was more so left wanting more from the performance. But I like that she dedicated to Ireland because it's like different. I don't know if maybe no one could actually come if she dedicated to her, if she dedicated to her mom or something. Like people are traveling for her. And I felt like, I don't know, it doesn't bother me that she doesn't give anything personal at the moment because she is a really good dancer for the most. You don't have to get at it. And we didn't even notice. I'm still now. And she's funny. She's really trying and she's very earnest. So I liked everything except I thought that the dance wasn't as good as it should be. Well, when they brought in Lucky in the package, I was like, oh, they're going to, he's going to teach them how to Irish dance. And then when I watch the performance, I'm like, oh, no, he's the third. Like I didn't know he was going to be in it. And then so it's like, you have your pregnant fiance. You have an old friend. And it's like this random guy you met last week. I was just like, oh, wait, he's the third. He's representing Ireland. No, of course. I understood the symbolism. He is the embodiment of Ireland. It just felt a little surface. Yeah. But I liked the whole, like, stick of it. Like when I heard the song, I was like, fuck yeah. And I loved her dress. Like, and tink in the hair. Like, I loved it. I liked it too. It's a little like. But it's okay. Not every, I don't want to cry. And not everyone can be, I was her not everyone can be Tyler. And I don't want to watch it. He dances like that. I like to cry too. I like the variety. I was really leaning into like the emotional side. No, but I thought that it was like, it was fun and different. Just the dancing. That's two weeks in a row now that I've been a little bit underwhelmed. By her dancing. Oh. But like my bar is so high for her. She's so incredible. Yeah. Then we have Savannah Banana's Jackson also in Emma Slater. They dance to love by Nat King Cole dedicated to his mom. This one just didn't hit for me, like in an emotional way or in a dance way. I actually, like, thought Emma, like, I thought the whole thing was kind of corny. Like the song choice, the outfits, it was given like cruise ship performer. His mom was really sweet and he had really nice to say about his mom. And if somebody was going home, it was definitely him. Mm-hmm. I don't know. I don't feel connected to him. Me neither. But I actually strangely enjoyed his dance. Like when he was doing the, the beginning was like, yeah, cruise ship. But I think it was meant to be like, hell. Yeah, yeah. But then when they were doing the quick step, like, he finally can move. Like, I feel like he was the Tin Man for a while. Maybe because like the Banana Bulls over, he can probably like go. Like, and they were really having fun. And I just felt so joyous. Mm-hmm. And it actually struck something in me. Like the joyfulness. And I really liked it much more than I liked other performances. Just from him. The way I liked his Up to Down Funk, like, I thought this was really strong. Unfortunately, I don't know if it cuts it at week six. Yeah. Because I don't know who else to go home except for like, maybe Tyler, but he's awesome.
Obviously not going home now and Tyler is improving that's a thing Jackson's really plateauing I think Jackson is improving but not at a rate that can keep up with gen into on tight mora. Yeah Amber as raw. Yeah, like we're just in the big leagues now So I think he's taking his thing as far as it can go and then Then Amber Glenn and Pasha and after they performed they announced that Pasha had one people sexiest man alive For like the dancer category. It was seriously so funny They were like a couple of really was such an emotional night, especially Amber's dance was very emotional And then they cut to like either weird sponsorships or weird moments like it was very kind of like full of highs and lows I felt like definitely like the cat and the hat core sponsorship could have waited till next week like whatever at what or Disney My right after Tyler like put cat and hat right after Jackson or Ireland sure But after Tyler we just had a gender reveal so the people's sexiest man thing was like actually funny But like it was right after this extremely emotional dance from Amber and I you know been kind of difficult on Amber And I felt like last night she did really open up and I I felt it like that's a good way to connect with someone who doesn't know You like telling me about your sister like that's obviously gonna get me the dance was sick It was the perfect score, right? I also really appreciate that the pros in the package were like We're doing a contemporary dance. I will be representing the mental health struggle Yeah, like then when she's pushing him away, and he's capturing her again like I'm understanding the dance It was very I'm Abby Lee dance company when she used to like do these remember you know some kind of her test famously played Rosa Parks like Where you you're telling a story and you're explaining it to me so I know what you're saying I need you to explain it to me because this is only my second season watching like Jenna Johnson symbolizing the train Right. I'm new here. Thank you for the explanation their dance was amazing. It really was the sister like I love her Like that was seriously cute like it was great. Yeah. It was really good and one of my favorites from Amber plus See up dancing to see I will always help. It's a good me care. It's a good way to get ahead Help me care then we have Jenna Dewan without burst in she danced for her mother And did a V&E's waltz. I think a lot of us were just gonna like curious as you carry on was gonna say anything She didn't and she shouldn't have it would have been inappropriate I feel like so much of Jenna's like time on this show in the last week or two has just become about Not her in a negative way and that's annoying. I thought Alan was great. Like honestly. He was Basically faceless and nameless exactly what you would want her dance was beautiful Um, I thought she might get a perfect score and then the fact that she only ended up getting a 10 from carry on because I carry on obviously feels bad like Was funny. I just can't believe we're already at 10s You know, I know where do we go from here? Even though I do think the bar for a 10 on dedication night is lower I agree and I actually feel like if you weren't even gonna eliminate anyone and I feel like it's mean to score like Tyler getting eights after the gender reveal like rude Yeah, but also it's like they started giving ten towards the end of the night But like Ezra didn't get a 10 from a Sitting judge. He got a 10 from Kim doesn't count But like he should have got if Jenna's getting a 10 from carry on like Ezra gets one Yeah, did you see Danielle carry actually stepped on on purpose like she climbed up his prosthetic and like He did as a platform. That was really sick. It was really sick Oh, and then were you okay at the end when he picked up his mother like the end of that book? No, I wasn't like the end of that book Yeah, they mentioned it in the sky box. Oh today. Yeah, that they Julian I don't know if Julian like new. Oh, I think it was my first thought. Yeah, and so at the end of his dance He picks up his mom just like the end of I love you forever. Remember where it's like she was once rocking him as a baby He's now rocking and in the beginning of the dance like the mom's holding him like a he's a baby and then it's like just like the journey Yeah, oh, I'm sick from that I can throw up and then I'm actually sick not you ran for it I love you forever like that in the sky box Julian said like and you reference that moment where I love you forever Well, I totally miss that um the sun picks up the mother and he was like yeah That's one of my favorite books and Danielle put that in like oh, I'm gonna kill myself like actually and my life I'm feel upset and sick and you know what? I'm glad that they did that because I think that scene in the book gets clowned on a lot It doesn't get clowned on but people love the book up until that scene because they're like well Isn't it weird that this grown man is climbing through his mother's window and it's like oh shut up You obviously don't get it. No, it's art and then the cycle of life It is and then like that he would carry his mom like that is how that's how life Biology will work that he will be bigger and stronger. He's this big strapping man And because of all the love his mother gave him he takes care of her. No, I feel sick. You have to stop talking about this book So I'm glad that they did the book justice and made it they restored it to its glory. Mm-hmm. I'm glad he didn't throw a watch in the toilet No, yeah I drop you off at the zoo. I want to say Jenna and Alan like did look like two pros like it looked like the troupe It was really stellar. You know what I like was sometimes Zach will come in and watch a dance And he's like which one is the star and like that's major huge That's when somebody asks if you got your makeup done and like you just did it yourself. Yeah, that's me like next We have Harry Shem Jr. and Jenna Johnson. Oh, this was really beautiful the train and the grandparents and the granddaughters Yeah, yeah, I'm out. I also one of the only people. Oh no Tyler did his fiance but to do a partner like a wife And I felt like it was for his wife actually. Yeah, but he also included his parents It was so beautiful and then he's daughter when he talked about like why he loves his wife so much a lot of people say She makes me a great man He was so like you know I've never heard someone like say that about being like I was just like so different when I met her And I think like you know when you're the son of immigrants like you would just grow up kind of like serious, right? And he was like I just like became a better brighter lighter version. It was so sweet and she's so cute I loved it like Harry Shem making me care about him. I agree. He really loves his wife Yeah, they have a beautiful 20 year relationship and in this town Um and I'm sorry just the parents and the daughter like I couldn't get over the whole circle Jenna Johnson did a really good job And I like that song too stop this train. Oh, that was really as always like the song you choose does me a lot to me And that's an amazing song then we have Conner Wooden Riley Arnold they dance for his dad to piano man by Billy Joel They couldn't have chosen a more perfect song. It's like such a dad song. Um it was sweet. It was really sweet Tyler I mean Tyler Conner like shared that his dad had cancer growing up and so just he's always been like really grateful for his dad It was really sweet. Mm-hmm. It was a good dance And I felt like the judges were like a little lighter on him. You can't be that tough on people in dedication week honestly Yeah, no, they're not gonna really critique and nobody went home last night So it's really just based they're gonna use this week's scores into next week Yeah, and pile them together so they didn't have to really roast anyone. No, and it was just like sweet You know what not the vibe hearing. I'm having to defend carry on again I saw so many people like commenting on like how much she was crying like I was trying to imagine being there of course Like leave her the fuck alone. She's the only female judge too. It's like leave her alone then the dance that stole the night Tyler Cameron With Sharna dedicated his dance to mothers everywhere. He brought out his fiancee Tate who announced that she's pregnant and Then they did a gender reveal with the judges whose form and its left in the You imagine finding out the being her now and finding out the gender reveal baby with the rest of the world on television in this extremely heightened emotional state Honestly, it's too much and it ending up being a girl like when the whole thing was like about Tyler's mom like it was too much No, no, I actually I think that's like So crazy like so like I would not be able to handle it the next we're down by four three minutes left in the game I said Tyler's on like sorry. We have to go. I was screaming at my TV like first of all When Tyler talks about his mom and he started crying about how like you know he goes to weddings and he sees people who get to dance with their mom He's never gonna have that like I'm sorry. I just no it's so unfair It's so wrong and I remember when his mom passed away like I had never like I don't know her But I remember he used to post better all the time like he was just like obsessed with his mom and she was like like funny And like it was always and it was literally in one day like she learned a brain answer and passed away almost instantly and It's so sad and and even really put together the fact that a fiancee never met his mom And like what that's like to like you know end up marrying and now having a baby with someone who like your mom didn't know and it was so Beautiful before the pregnancy announcement. Like it was just when Tyler talks about his mom like I get really choked up about it and They could have even done that not that they would have probably and it made sense mothers everywhere And then she's expecting but even if they had done the dance with Tate for Tyler's mom I think that's still what have made sense when they're describing it especially Sharna said Thank you Sharna that she's embodying the spirit of his mother. Thank you Sharna Thank you Sharna And the pros really did like ushered them from like these different journeys from this place in their life So if he she's the spirit of the mother and then bringing him to Tate like it still would have worked even if she were impregnant And then to announce that she's pregnant I love the costume the dress like in the show that you could dance her. Yeah. Oh my she could be on the show It was so like beautifully done and then I didn't even notice that this is what they're doing until Derek pointed out when he like lifted up Tate and like lifted her belly the sky. No, I'm gonna actually come myself like I did you put on suicide watch after last night's episode I was not fucking okay. Oh Do you see the video of him picking up the confetti like seriously stop like I'm really not okay When he picked they did a gender reveal they blew confetti out of cannons It's picked that he and so when Tyler and Tate are running off the dance or he picked up a piece of the confetti as like a keepsake Like when people go to the eras tour and they do that like I'm really I fucking love Tyler like I feel like people are really hard I'm in his dancing. I thought his dancing was amazing. I was even noticing literally love Sharna The whole thing was so beautiful the gender reveal was like actually too much And then of course it ending up being a girl after like this whole cycle of like the mom the gender I like how did she experience that I just made my heart one of course. Yeah, yeah, exactly my heart would have burst It was so beautiful like it was really one of the best things I've ever seen on TV. Maybe ever. Yeah until happy for them until I saw the cotton hat and then Yeah, it's been literally after Hands down the most emotional part of the whole night Cannot can I guess there's a new cat in the hat movie which is actually good for me to know about and what I saw in the dance Is there appears to be a thing three now, which is very important to me because I have two children and that's for one and thing two and and Now like that doesn't really work, but if there's a thing three Yes, that's sort of game changing in my house. I don't love the concept of just like my
and messing with perfection. Like Katana Hat is a perfect story. - I agree, but I will take a thing three, sorry. Like, I don't think that messes with the balance of if there's three things. - What if like thing three is like woke? - No, no, the things don't speak. The things don't speak. - Do they have pronouns? - No. - Okay. - They're like, am. - They're things. - They're things. - Right. - So, I don't think having a third thing can give me a bad thing. - Changes anything. - Not at all. Maybe just a little more chaos in the house. - I hope you're right. - Just more chaos in the house. Another entity to cause destruction in the house. - Then our last dance, Julia Stiles, and as Rousseau said, they dance to Heath Ledger, can't take my eyes off of you by Frankie Valley, song from the movie, 10 Things I Hate About You. And then, at the end of the dance, a couple of the cast members from the movie came out, including Joseph Gordon Levitt. - Gabrielle Union. - Gabrielle Union. And then the actress-- - Couple of other, nobody. - She'll play the sister and the friend, and Andrew Keegan, who plays Heath's brother, like the good-looking guy. - Oh yeah. - You know, member him. He looks exactly the same. - So let me say this. Because last week, when we heard she was doing Heath Ledger tribute, I was like definitely kind of hard on her, saying that like, you know, historically, she's maintained-- - Don't even know him. - That they've had no relationship, and this just feels sort of like an attention grab, and like, performative and exploitive. And I was really ready to have my mind changed. Like, you know, what do we know? Maybe they had this beautiful, and I was really looking forward to her package most, to hear more contexts. It's like this person who's so special to you. Like, Tatiana's talking about James, like how he was such a paternal figure in her life. Like, you learn more about the connection, and why he's worthy of this dedication. And to be honest, I heard quite literally none of that. When she was like the first thing she said, it was like he was so authentic. Like, if you say about someone you don't fucking know. And I was just like, oh, like, you're actually like, don't know him. - No, and said nothing to the effect that they ever spoke in after the movie. 'Cause the whole night and the dance was about the energy he brought to the set, and how she wanted to bring that energy to the dance, and just embody that playfulness, and everything that he gave to the movie set, to everyone, all of the actors and actresses, that like, that is something that she wants to take away. So, from the day you wrap nothing else ever materialized or happened because you would have mentioned that, right? - Yeah, so then this is just the second week at a row, where she's just sort of playing off of her, like, discography, having the cast mates come this week, and she had someone come last week. I was just like, I was really unmoved by the whole thing, and I felt like it was the least, like emotional. - It was worse than an emotional, like, worse than a mora. You say, - Worse than what? - Worse than a space mora, dance, mora. - Morahiggins, yeah, because morahiggins was an emotional. - Love's Ireland, she is Ireland, and I embodied, and she's doing the dance for people who can't vote. Like, she could have danced for some, done something to get votes. Instead, she's dancing for a bunch of people who can't even vote. - True. - She loves them so much. - It's true, you know, you can't vouch for Irish pride. - And she's so proud to represent them. So, like, whether or not it was the most touching or whatever, like, she's doing something really-- - Yep. - This is worse than an emotional, because to me it felt exploitative and it felt irrelevant, and we don't know anything about you. I was shocked that that many cast members showed up, because especially Gabrielle Union and Joseph Gordon love it, like-- - Of course, the A-listers. - Yeah. - I also, that's why I brought up when Tatiana thanked James Avery's family. Like, I don't feel like she got any sort of permission from, like, Heath, Michelle Williams, like, literally anyone or anything from Heath's life connected, nobody showed up, like, I don't know, it felt weird. And then I also saw this morning, like, you know, Disney is producing a, there's a Broadway show for "Tentings." I hate about you, Disney is like a, it just like, it felt like sort of synergetic. - I was wondering, like, if they had any connection, or if you can even stream the movie on Disney Plus, if that was like the sort of tie-in, because they got the, I felt like a commercial for "Tentings" I hate about you. - Yeah. - And then in the end, they put that voice over. I hate that you don't grow, or whatever. And it's like, but that's acting. That wasn't talking about that. - That's not how you feel. - That's not talking about a real person. - I actually, like, did other people buy it? Like, what does people, the thing is, it's such an adored movie. Like, it's literally, say what we want about, it's the best movie ever. And we watched it growing up. There's like the nostalgic element for Millennials, and then him passing away. It's like one of his, you know, most iconic performances. So yeah, it's exciting to see the cast together. And it's excited to see them acknowledge how important this movie was, but like, on a real level, just human level, I did not like it at all. I felt like it was so performative. And just another week of like us knowing nothing about Julia Stiles, like, she has literally shared nothing. - Yeah, I continue to. - I think that although Jackson Tyler and Connor are circling the bottom three, I think she should go home next. - I completely agree, but people are eating it up. So it's like, when you think about like views and ratings, like, people are excited about it. Like, I think we're in the minority. - Okay, well, classic us. - Can't wait for time to be on our side. - Next week is Har movie night, 'cause it's Halloween, and Shirley Balles is the guest judge, which I love. I also was reading about, I guess the Huff Siblings grew up at a certain point, like, when they were like, "Yeah, do you know that?" - In the UK. - Yeah, 'cause they were like really talented dancers. Shirley Balles is a very like, excellent-- - Relific. - Dance teacher. And so they went and like sort of were wards over there. - Like literally, it's like the contextual of this family. Like-- - 'Cause like, Julia ends like talking, she was kind of like talking crap about Shirley being like the scariest, and I should know, she's super scary. And it's like, if you don't know that that woman sort of, like, raised her, it's like a bitch. - Yeah, it's like, "Are you talking about Mark's mom?" Like that. - Like, it's so disrespectful. - Yeah. - That's funny. - Okay, are you ready for our next story, which was a little bit of what we already talked about. Jalen Branson and The New York Knicks, look on in awe as a championship banner is raised at MSG in an emotional scene. - I heard it was in real life. Like, you know what I was famously, I was at Game 4, but I heard it was like electric. Like, Ben's parents were there. They were sending a million blurry videos. But it looked amazing. They did the ring ceremony. The rings were sick. Like-- - They were huge. They look like bangles. - They look like bracelets. Yeah. And honestly, their fingers are so big. It could probably fit on one of our wrists. I watched a video of them like showing Jacob and Co, like the whole-- - Was it Jacob and Co? - Or I'm thinking of fantasy, bro. - Oh. - They did. - Same, but different. - Hey. - The ring like-- - Oh my dream. - What's this thing, sad? - Little Mix Girl. - J their wall. - I saw her real, but it's just that sitting on the subway, nobody knows that Kylie Jenner walked to my debut single. - Yeah, her first solo endeavor from Little Mix Jade. - Angel. - It's a good song. - I'm gonna go listen to it after the ring opens up. And it's like Madison Square Garden on the side. - And it's a boss? - Literally, or like a snack. No, it's Madison Square Garden. It's sick. Like, do you ever wear that? - Oh, that is cool. Maybe like to your wedding. - Really? - I don't know. It's sick. - Yeah. - You think the players have to pay for it or like the organization? - Organization. - Yeah, I think so too. 'Cause like some of the players don't even make a lot of money. - Yeah. - Like a couple of them. Most of them make a lot. - No, so it was a nice night at the garden. - Except that they lost-- - Speaking of the garden. Shouts out to Giggly Squad. - Shouts speaking of the garden. Insane. - Insane Giggly Squad. Sold out Madison Square Garden. The first female podcast to do that. - And I think they sold out twice. - And then they added this, yeah, yeah. - Yeah, yeah. - Actually, I don't know if the second one sold out, I think they sold out MSG headline. - I saw if she-- - By the way, what male podcast has done that? They keep saying female podcast. I'd be like, it's the first podcast. - Oh, I don't know. Page tag chef in like a-- (laughing) - Obsessed. What did she say? - I think she said something like, let me know if you got a ticket. - Yeah, right. What did he say? He was like, over her to the casino. - A couple of like-- - Really nasty about her-- - I'm not calling them like a little talk show or something like that. - He said that how much happens lies. - What did he say? - The little talk show thing was not much of it. - So at ProvoCon, he was like-- - Somebody was over her-- - It was not too long. - Probably about her. - Yeah, about her job. - Not too funny. - Also, you just reminded me of Blake Griffin was on Watched Rap and Live last night. - Okay, he just got married. - Did he? - Oh no, I think. - Jason Seagal. - No, no, no, I got it in my news yesterday. - He was on Watched Rap and Live. He said, you know, in my prediction era, this is who he said is going to be at the NBA finals. The Knicks and the Thunder. And that the Thunder are probably going to win. - Thunder. - You're the Thunder. - And he was asking him these questions. I was like, what show is this? He's like, what are your predictions of the NBA finals? - Well, he can be varied. - I guess. - And then I think on Real House of Atlanta, Charles Oakley's wife is a new housewife. So Andy felt really excited to have that sort of moment of-- - Charles Oakley. - Yeah, I didn't know him. Andy was like, have you seen Charles? What do you think of Charles Oakley? - You just sang Charles Oakley. - I thought maybe you would know what that was. I was thinking, I'm like-- - I could know if he is, if he comes on namesake. - Well, I was thinking Andy, I'm like, his name is Charles Parkley. - But no, it's Charles Oakley. His wife is on much, and I guess is on Atlanta, and he's on it a little bit too. - Cool. - Yeah. - Why would I care if I played Griffin so much on that? - I don't know, I don't think that's weird. - No. - Oh, I think it's crazy weird. - I don't think so. - Like, is he promoted? Like did he write a book? Like, I just feel sorry. - Well, he did get married. - Oh, with the least of Interpromp. That was the other thing. - House least of Interpromp. - She said she was really excited to hear that Leo Remini was gonna be on the real house, hasn't Beverly Hills, 'cause she thinks like, she could give the women a nice kick in the ass, and that's what they need. She's such a hater. It was good, she seemed good. I don't know what she's promoted. Like, Vanderpump, Bill or whatever, you know? - Classic. - Our next story, Andrew, she and Marley Phi Big, you're probably wondering who's that? The X's of Amy Roeback and TJ Holmes. - Who just got married. The X's are engaged. - Now, this is a beautiful story. - I love, what are we calling this? Like the Shania Twain effect? - Like the wife swap. - The wife swap. Yeah, like when your partner's cheat on you and then you end up with the person who also got to do that. - Yeah, because if you like them and they like him, then maybe you like him. - And I think that's also the plot of a Colleen Hoover novel that Allison Williams made into a movie, regretting you? - Perhaps where they got into an accident. and they were like, well, why were our --
- Your husband and wife to God on me, too. And they were like, "They were fucking." And I think that as they discover this, the chew fall in love. That's beautiful. - It makes sense. - If you're gonna get cheated on, at least you could end up with a boyfriend. - Yeah, no, but if I like you and you like her, and she likes him, perhaps I would like him, since we all like-- - I like you, you like me. We're a happy family. So they're engaged, and who are, what do they do? - I see the other two, Amy and T. Chair, like broadcasters. What do these people do for a living? - One of them is the founder of Forum. - Okay, I don't know what that is. - And the other, I don't know. - Okay. - But there you go. - Thank you for those extremely beautiful and just showed you a job. - For those things. - Yeah. (laughing) - Thank you. - For the exclusivity details you could only get here at the toast. - And that's the kind of like the level of journalism that and like dedication to detail that the Golden Globe sees in us. - I just think you don't actually care what they do. - So I was watching TikTok, and I saw a clip from Los Colch, Los Colchrisas, and they were talking about the Golden Globe shore list, and they were going through the list, and they were like giving their thoughts on every podcast, and we were up to like the, maybe the S's before the Sean Ryan show, and then the clip ended. And I was like, well, I need to know what they said about us. So I went on this long journey to find it, I found it, and not Matt Rogers being like, okay, let's cosplay. So he was like, say the toast. - Well, Matt Rogers says that-- - Yeah, so he was just like, I'll do Bowen. - Yeah, you say nothing. He was like, the Megan Kelly show, when he said something about Megan Kelly, the toast, and he was saying such fucking mean ass shit about everyone. The toast, I actually like them. - Okay. - So if we don't-- - You miss the okay from Bowen. - Oh yeah, Bowen hates us. - Bowen then, okay. - I mean, I don't know what we've said about Bowen, but like maybe, like not, I feel like I like Bowen. I said, I think I said, at a time like he was the only good thing at S&O. - You did. - And she can't be trusted, you know? We definitely talked shit, but he wouldn't have heard it. He probably just doesn't like like our essence. - But also it's important to remember, like we are women having children. Like we've been doing this podcast for 10 years, and it's like when we come on the show, like pregnant post part, I'm like, sometimes we're like in mood somewhere hormonal women. - We are, and I think it's okay, like we are emotional, you know? - Yeah. - Too emotional. - Like some podcast. - Too emotional to be president, like, (laughing) not kidding, but like honestly, like if you're like, pregnant having kids, you can't be president. - Like, Claudia with the nuclear codes? - Well, pregnant. Not pregnant, I'm just feeling the same. - So I'm like, Claudia. - Now. - Yeah. - No, like seriously let me nowhere near the White House or that button, 'cause like one bad day, one gestational diabetes test, and I'm clicking the button. - Less than that. - Less than that. - Your condition goes out. - Well, actually that's not fair, because you guys know like air conditioning is my trigger. - And it went out, and so she's hitting the nuclear button. - Being warm, like the way that people are like, I'm hangry, like sure, I get hangry too. Like, being warm, like when the back of my neck starts to like moisten, that's my trigger. Like, I will wipe out a small nation. - Yeah, I just don't think he likes who we are. - I agree to our core. - But who knew Matt Rogers did. So what they were saying, which is true, like first of all, they don't think any of the true crime podcasts can or should win, because like true crime, it's just like, it's not the moment. It's not the moment. - Oh, interesting. - And if there are, like there would only be one. - Okay. - So when we're like whittling, they were whittling down the list too. - Okay. - I think that we can automatically count out, they said Megan Kelly, 'cause she like has publicly, like said she doesn't like the Golden Globes, like they would never give her the nomination. But I also think a lot of these podcasters, and being a podcaster is inherently sort of an anti-establishment thing to do, where it's like submitting yourself, there's 30 shows you guys. - Right, Joe Rogan's not submitting himself. - Tucker Carlson is not submitting himself. Megan Kelly's not submitting himself. So it's 27. I don't think Shane Gillis is submitting himself. 26. Then there's like three true crime podcasts. I think we can take out two of them, because only one. But you might be able to say the same about pop culture. So it's kind of like us or us culture. And I'll say this, if it can't be us, I'm probably at least my Rogers likes us. You know, it's not like two-hour haters, just like one and a half. - No, and I'm glad that even if Bowen doesn't like us, that he didn't like hate us enough to go off. - Well, the thing is, is that like, it was such an opportunity to like say something mean about us, people like say mean things about us all the time. - Well, they love to talk about us. - Yeah, and it's like it's, we're easy, like we're short and whatever. So like, the fact that they didn't, if it can't be us, honestly, I'm happy for it to be them. - Yeah. - But they were like making me feel good about like, the people who obviously can't win. 'Cause they were like, Rod and Mango's like, you just can't win, look. That's you. Now it's like, that's disgusting, look. - They're right about that. - Yeah, so I do feel like what are they? - What are they like eligible? - There's a lot of other, like what they say about Amy Poler. - Oh, they like hate Amy Poler because she won last year. And it's like, they were like, we invented, like laughing with your guests. So they're like, we invented like Kackling. They were just like, being like, funny haters. And I think that like, they were supposed to go on. And it got rescheduled. And then the day it got rescheduled before, they had to reschedule. So I don't know if they ever ended up going on, but it was a little bit, there was drama. - Would they say about Caller Daddy? - No. (laughing) - It was a funny segment, like, honestly. Now we need to stop, not us lifting them up, like. - Why not? - Saying how great the show is. Don't get it before us. Don't get the nomination. - Oh, and the Golden Homes isn't listening to Steve in the episode. - Oh yeah, it's sure. We're like 55 minutes in. - Oh wow, we gotta move. - Yeah, no, I have, I have like ads to do. - Okay, are you ready for our fourth story? - If it's our fourth story that's brought to you by Groomz. - Mm-hmm. - You know, fall is when we're all stepping up our routines, starting over, schedule, is studying, getting into a more of a rhythm and habit. And Groomz is one thing that's great for you to stay consistent with through all of it, especially as six season is upon us. So Groomz is a daily pack of gummies. You can't fit actually all the nutrients that Groomz fits into just one gummy. So it being like a little pack makes it a really fun treat, also makes it really easy to bring with you, like to store a couple in your purse or keep some of the office. So the pack itself is vegan, not free gluten-free, dairy-free. It has no artificial colors or flavors. They also do offer a totally sugar free option. When you think about generic multi-vitamins, they contain about seven to nine vitamins, which is fine. Groomz has over 20 vitamins and minerals and 60 ingredients, which include nutrient, dense, and whole foods. They are low carb, low calorie, and low sugar. And again, they have a totally sugar free option if that's what you're looking for. Inside the pack, you'll find six grams of pre-batic fiber, which is three times the amount of dietary fiber compared to leading greens. It's HSA, FSA eligible for reimbursement. And I think it's just much easier to take down than powder. And I can't deal with some of these greens powders. It's not easy to take down. So if you love groons, you want to try groons. You probably see them all over social media. You can save up to 61% off with free gifts when you use code toast at groons.co. That's gruns.co. It's just like a better way to have gum. Like gum is such a bad habit. And now they have sour mints. So the smart part is that it's made with natural caffeine, L-theanine. So it gives you that calm focused energy, plus it has two B vitamins and zero sugar. It's a treat that basically won't wreck you. And it comes in two different flavors that pop. One in the mouth, one in the brain. Sour apples, citrus, and berry. So it's a perfect thing to pop up before you sit down to record a podcast. And you just want to be like your sharpest self. Our fourth story, some sweet news. - Jacob Alority will be narrating the audiobook for his euphoria dad, Eric Danes, memoir, call my book of days, so Eric-- - Just wanna say, I know you've never seen you for it. I'm like, it's, this is so sweet, but like the two of them are fucking demonic, like legit evil. - Oh, towards the other. - It's not like a sweet father son really. - No, no, it's like an evil dad who gave birth to an evil son in their own ways. They're just like, legit ass evil. - Well, this is great news for people who didn't watch Euphoria because it sounds really lovely. His on-screen son will be voicing his audiobook. This is a posthumous memoir called My Book of Days, a memoir in moments, apparently that a very special relationship. - It's funny 'cause all you ever hear is like how terrible the euphoria set was and how everyone hates each other, but here is this beautiful father son duo. - Yeah, he had said, Jacob and I have a pretty profound amount of respect for each other offset. He's a really great person and he's a lot of fun to work with. He's a super committed actor, which allows us to sort of talk craft here and there and we love doing that. - My only question is, Jacob Alority is Australian. - Yeah. - But it's not, it's not a, oh. - It's a memoir. - And memoirs are like in first person? - Yes. So will he be putting on an American accent? - I mean, he does pretty much an American accent in every role he does. - I feel like he should be. - And me Australian is like Logan, probably inconvenient for him. - I feel like he should try and sound like Eric Dane 'cause otherwise I'll be listening to it being like, Eric Dane was Australian. - What if other posthumous memoirs done for audiobooks? It's kind of like a tough spot to be in. Even though with AI, you could probably have like, Eric Dane's voice. - But also. - If you wrote the book before you passed away, then you could also do the audiobook before you passed away? - Well, I don't think you would write the book after you passed away. - But like, no, you wrote the book before you passed away. - As one does, you could do the audiobook too. - Oh, right, you know, not to brag, but as somebody who has recorded an audiobook, my book behind me available wherever you purchase your books. It's kind of a terrible day, two days. It's just like you're in this really hot booth and you guys know hot is my trigger. And they're making you reread the same sentence a thousand times. And if you're dying, I just can't see that, but you want to spend your time. - 1,000%. Like, it's really exciting in the beginning. You're like, in this booth and it's all very, especially if you're like new to the industry. Like, it's like very novel. - If I agree. - You're right. And I was like, this is sick. Like, I thought I was like, "You're recording me right here." - Right, right. - Let me tell you, it gets really old. - It gets really old really quick. So I don't think like you're dying of ALS. And also, when you have ALS, right here at ALS, right? That does impact your ability to speak. - Yes, no, I'm saying, I understand my heat into it, but other people, because you said, what other posthumous memoirs do for this? I don't know that that's like a huge thing anyway. - I think that's a kind of a nice place for AI to step in. - Yeah, also Maria Shriver is publishing the book under her imprint. She's an imprint at Penguin Random House. - Maria Shriver is so random. - Yeah, I remember seeing it. - Random House. Oh, I love that. (laughing) - She's even making fun of her. - I like her laugh. - Is that Maria Shriver? - No, it's Maria Manuno's. Thank you. - Thank you for me. - Oh yeah, so this is less weird, by the way. - This is the Schwarzenegger Kennedy. - I'm sorry, I thought Maria Manuno's had an imprint. And I'm like, how does she know her obtain? Got it, Maria Shriver. - Maria Shriver, ex-husband of Arnold Schwarzenegger. - She's a Kennedy. - Yes, she's a Kennedy. Are they still married? - I'm like, I know you like had a baby with the nanny. - For sure, but they could still be married. - No, they're not. - Okay. - They are not. - So the Schwarzenegger Kennedy Shriver woman is publishing the book that feels on Kennedy, married Lady Kennedy. I love that song. And Maria Shriver's in there. - Yeah, of course. - 'Cause she's a Kennedy. - And she has an imprint at Pingham Random House. - Well, that's elite. Yeah, I've had my book published there, like she's cool. - And she also wrote like the dear reader chapter for the books of Shelby voicing that in the audiobook. - And I guess we'll probably hear like, how those two knew each other. - And like, how this book came about. - That's true. - It actually sounds really great. And aside from what you said about the actual show, this is really sweet. - No. - She's like a son. - And people love, like we know Eric Dane. - I know him probably from Euphoria because I didn't watch Grey's. - Mixed Amy. - Right. But if you're like a big Grey's Anatomy fan, like this is very exciting for you. - Yeah. - There's just like an endless amount of drama that comes from Grey's Anatomy. - Of course, there's a thousand people on set. - Catherine Heigel, like when she quit. And like, - Of Ellen Pompeo. - She gave up her Golden Globe nomination or something. Or like her Emmy would never be us. So we respect Golden Globes with an amazing institution they are. - Are you ready for our fifth and final story? - Yeah. - It's a little Halloween costume news. It is only October 21st, but it's starting. - I can't believe it's starting. - It's starting and Kim started it. - And to be honest, I knew it was gonna start early because Halloween itself is what day? - October 31st. - I know, I know. - Like Thursday? - I think it might be a Saturday. - Which is fun. - So I feel like of all years, like this one should kind of be short. - Just the weekend. - Find Thursday, Friday, Saturday. - Yeah, yep. - I'm sorry, starting 10 days early is insane. - Starting on the Tuesday of the week before the week. - And I forgot the like celebrities. - They're not even starting. She's not going with costume party. They're doing like a photo shoot in their backyard and they're costume that they took like all day to get into. These people need jobs. - No, for sure. - She's the busiest woman alive, however. She transformed into her 13 year old daughter, Northwest for Halloween. Complete with blue hair, piercings, the whole nine. - So I wanna say, like, I hate that she did this 10 days early because she'd done it on Saturday. Of next week, I would have thought this was hilarious. Like, it's a hilarious costume. It's like a self reference, I love. But the fact that she's so early that I'm sorry. Halloween's out of control. I will not participate in the overconsumption of Halloween. - And I don't really care, but she would have shared that she had dressed up as like, I was just not ready to receive it. - No, not at all. Like, I'm not even thinking about Halloween. - No. I would say this weekend, I could try to see some things because, you know, it's a weekend and Halloween gets a week these days. - Fine. - So if it's on a Saturday, we can start the weekend before. So that everyone has time to do their parties. - But it's-- - But not on a Tuesday. - No, I thought the fifth of the battle story was gonna be the glee reboot, which was just an outfit who loot Disney+. - You know, I didn't see that. - Yeah, and I've just decided that whenever we talk about reboots, you're starting from a place of no for me. - We spoke a couple weeks ago about the idea of it, right? Because someone said, like-- - They're always asked. Oh, Ryan Murphy said, I just wrote the script, remember? - Yeah, and Liam Michelle was on the carpet asked about it. - Right. - But I just feel like we're always like talking about it. So even if I saw, like, it was-- - No, it's like officially going to the "Hooloo Disney" plus. - Okay. Here, oh, three hours ago. - Yeah, it just happened. - Disney and Hulu have greenlit a reboot of a glee. - Glee? - It's all about-- there's nothing. Details about the new glee are scanned. Disney shared nothing, aside from the fact that the series is being produced by 20th television and Malayar, Aaron Hulu and Disney. Okay, nothing, that's always-- - The fact that people, like, refuse to create original works of art these days, like annoys me. And so whenever there's a reboot, like, I feel like I'm always coming from a negative place, and I will continue to do that even glee, my favorite show ever. Like, so you have to make an amazing show. Now, I actually think they could do it. - But it's such a cursed, like-- - I think they could do it. And no one's gonna know what I have to say. But they would have to start completely fresh, not bring in the old-- - Not a singular person. - Maybe one, and unfortunately-- - It's so. - I would love for it to be so, but it would make sense for it to be Mr. Shoe. Or someone, one cast member, who will be the new Mr. Shoe. - Mr. Shoe has not aged well enough as an actor or a character to be-- and I think when people now look back on glee, like we all look at it being like, "Soe was the best." And I just want to say, if Jay Lynch is not in it, throwing in the garbage. Like, actually, I feel more strongly about Jay Lynch and I do Liam and Michelle. - No, I think that if they rebooted it, and it's the same exact show, it's a glee, you know, cast of characters were finding new talent. - Young kids saying-- - Redoing songs that give us everything that glee was, and also the way the glee was written then, it was like so of the moment, like-- - Very progressive, like-- - The immediate timing was every day. And like we need a version of that for 2026. So like right glee, again, in 2026, one carry-over character who plays the head-- - What? - Of the glee club. - Or Sue is now principal. - But, okay, but the head of the glee club should be someone we know from Glee, and that's it. - Okay, well, I wouldn't be Liam and Michelle because when we left her, she was an Tony award-winning. Honestly, it's giving Kurt. - Or Arty? - No. - But like someone kind of random. - Kurt. - Kurt? - Unfortunately, like, just if you know the characters as well as I do, it's Kurt. - Kurt could be, okay, maybe we have two people 'cause Kurt could be like the head of the drama. - And Kurt-- - And Kurt-- - And Kurt-- - Kurt is-- - Be so-- - So Sue. I'm sorry, so Mr. Shoe. - Oh, I think Kurt is more Sue. - No, Kurt is Mr. Shoe. - I think we have like Kurt versus-- - All right, Mercedes, Mercedes heads the glee club. - I'm just saying, that's really it because if we start bringing on these old people, I can just feel old. - It's true. And the show is a kind of curse, so like-- - And like the name Glee of the show, like that's about a high school glee club. - And nothing else matters besides the William McKinley-- - And unfortunately none of those people can be in high school. - Correct, we're looking for teenagers. - Yeah, I guess unless, you know, they do like, they're like-- - They're parents. - On Rec Center Glee Club, like-- - No, no, I love a show set in high school, so first of all, no, but unless it's the-- - No, no, no, no, no, unless the, like, you know, Tina and Mike had a son who's in the glee club now.
Although, I don't know if it's been a long, yeah, like 15 years, how old are you? And Mike is Harry Shepchoon. Harry Shepchoon? Well, there you go. That's our show, you guys. Thank you so much for listening to The House More Dona. Podcast Summary
Key Points:

Several dances, including Ezra and Alec’s performance, evoke deep emotional reactions due to personal stories of family, disability, and maternal love, with viewers describing them as profoundly moving.
Julia Stiles’ tribute to Heath Ledger is criticized as exploitative and performative, lacking personal connection or real-life relationship context, and is seen as more commercially driven than emotionally authentic.
The gender reveal moment during Tyler’s dance is described as overwhelming and emotionally intense, with many viewers finding it too much, especially given the contrast between the personal tribute and the public spectacle.
The show’s handling of family dedications is praised for authenticity in some cases (e.g., Harry Shem Jr. and Jenna Johnson) but criticized in others for lacking personal depth or permission (e.g., Tatiana’s Irish dedication).
A recurring theme is the contrast between emotional authenticity and surface-level performances, with some dancers offering genuine personal stories while others rely on pop culture or impersonal symbolism.
The hosts discuss broader life themes such as motherhood, legacy, and identity, using the show as a lens to reflect on personal relationships and family dynamics.
The episode promotes several product brands, including Squarespace, David Protein, Reef, and Momentous, with promotional codes offered to listeners.
