D23: What To Expect From Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar Presentations Tonight - The John Campea Show

Well, greetings and salutations, everybody. Welcome to the best, I'm overlaid show on the planner at the John Campio show coming from right here in our quaint little studio. I am, of course, your host, uh, John Campio. And this is the show where we talk about the things that we love movies and movie news TV and streaming and all that good stuff joining me here today all the way from their observatory. He's a writer, director and producer, Mr. Robert Meyer, Burnett's here. Robert, how you doing? John Criterion finally announced the right stuff. How stoked am I? Woohoo. Oh my goodness. And of course, he's also stoked about that. We got Jonathan Boyko here. I am. I'm the one who's who sent him the, the screen shot of it. He is. Hey, guys, D 23. Yeah, D 23 is here. And just so you guys know, I am doing a, uh, live stream tonight. We'll be doing a live stream starting at seven o'clock tonight, probably maybe a few minutes earlier before seven, just going all over all the news coming out of D 23. And we'll see if you guys are interested if you guys want to come and join me for that. So we'll look forward to that. All right, guys, listen, we do have a couple of things to talk about here today, including Rob and I are going to give you the rundown of what you can expect to D 23, like all the stuff that we've heard that you can expect to D 23 tonight. We're going to go over all that. But before we get to that, we've got a couple things we need to talk about here first. And we're going to start off with this. You know, uh, they released the first five minutes of lanterns yesterday. And Rob, you weren't on the show yesterday, but I loved it. Like one of the things that I said about those first first five minutes was I cannot believe how much narratively, how much narrative ground they covered in five minutes. They gave us an understanding of when green lanterns were revealed to the world. We got a base understanding about the psyche of, of how Jordan, we got a complete understanding. We get it. John came out of a rough, bad background, the whole idea about lack of fear, all like, Oh, like, and then we got our instant taste of the nature of the relationship between the two, just in the one exchange, I'm late. Um, I, I was just amazed with how much ground they covered in five minutes and how much foundation they put down. So I really liked it. But the question was going to of course be, what do the reviews say? Well, as of this recording, it may go up one or two points and may go down one or two points by the end of today's show, because that's what happens early on once the reviews come out. But as of this recording, lanterns currently has a higher critic rating than Spider-Man brand new day. Spider-Man brand new days, of course, at 90. Right now lanterns is at 91. That is not to say that lanterns is better than Spider-Man brand new day. I just thought that was an interesting little number there. So the reviews are out and they're very good. And let's go over and take a look to see what some of the reviewers are saying. We start off with Landon nerds who saying rarely has a show delivered episodes that resonate as both subversive and what had true detective fan fiction sometimes in the same scene. Uh, the movie podcast wrote lanterns is the best new show of the year. And one of the most timely and impactful stories DC has ever told Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler shine brighter than ever in a series that isn't afraid to take creative risks. The Los Angeles Times liked it. They wrote, the series is fresh enough in its details and execution and strong enough in its writing and so well performed that it feels quite original. Empire magazine liked it. They said the grounded and gritty approach pays dividends for lanterns, which gives the DCU a much needed win. Polygon liked it. They said its ideas about fear and heroism remain inseparable from John Stuart's identity as a black man. That's good. New York magazine liked it. They wrote Kyle Chandler having a rip-roaring time as a sardonic Hal Jordan. And until John Stuart is allowed to loosen up a bit, he carries the series on his shoulders. Our friends over at Joe Blow really liked it. They said a mature mystery that echoes the feel of HBO's watchman lanterns is a fateful adaptation of Green Lantern lore and a worthy reintroduction. This Randolph, good friend of the show, she really liked it. She wrote a thrilling mystery that gets Hal Jordan and John Stuart just right. This is perfect DC storytelling and highlights why Tom King even with the controversies is one of the best comic book creators in the business. However, it's not always flowers and perfumes. The New York Times did not like it. They said lanterns is almost entirely about the dark night of the superhero's soul. What's all that? Actually, that doesn't sound bad to me. How was that a bad review? Did they click the wrong button? Like they did. Yeah. Yeah. Like didn't click like dislike. But okay, whatever. You didn't like it. Mashable like incredible series. I hated it. I hated it between Chandler and Pierre's chemistry and intriguing puzzle box and its ever relevant themes lanterns burst onto the scene as a thrilling new entry into the DC universe. And even awards watch liked it. They said lanterns is a thrilling, highly entertaining season of television with two commanding lead actors that knocked their roles out of the stadium. I mean, I don't know what more we as fans could hope for this sound. I mean, listen, I was, was I thought the first trailer was decent. I thought the first trailer was decent. Second one I thought was incredible. I really like the second one. But could it live up to it? Let's see when we get to watch some chunks of footage and then they release the first five minutes. I'm like, okay, that looks really good. That looks really damn good. But then again, the first 25 minutes of light year looked really damn good. And we all remember how that turned out. So hearing these reviews for me are very encouraging. I mean, I love hearing what we're hearing here. Anyway, Rob, you saw the first five minutes. Where's your expectations been? And what's really standing out to you about all the things we're hearing in the reviews right now? First of all, I just want to give out a big, I told you so to all the people's, the people's, all the people early on and all the, the fanboys that were coming at me going, I mean, it's not green enough. And I'm just like, okay, you know, as a lifelong, and I mean, lifelong DC fanboy, I have loved Green Lantern my whole life, the Hal Jordan version, any of the versions of Green Lantern. I love Guy Gardner when he was in the Justice League comic, uh, that Keith Giffin and jam tomatoes were doing back in the, in the 80s. I love Green Lantern that the approach that they took for me was the perfect approach. You have to believe that the Green Lantern exists in our world, you know, quote unquote our world. And I thought what I'd seen, the idea of a buddy cop story, hearked back to some of my favorite 70s Green Lantern cartoons between the Green Arrow Green Green Lantern crossover. And that, I was saying that this looks fantastic and people were coming at me like I'm an idiot. And I was like, why am I an idiot? I mean, I am a lifelong Green Lantern fan. I'm not some DC apologist. I'm not some shill. I want a good Green Lantern series. So John, these reviews, the five, the first five minute clip that I saw, I mean, the tone of it, all of it, it looks like catnip to me. Now, I don't know how many, does it say how many episodes the reviewers saw? Did they only see the first episode? I think they saw the whole series. If I'm not mistaken, I couldn't be correct. And now I know Disney has a habit of releasing the first four episodes. Sure. But I believe, and again, I might be wrong by this. I believe they gave them, oh, they apparently what people in the live chat are saying is that there's eight episodes and they gave the critics seven out of the eight. So they just didn't give them the final episode. So this is a huge, huge win. I keep thinking about those, those three little letters, HBO. And you know, I mean, if they're going to do a superhero series, I would expect it to be top notch. So I'm stoked for this. I can't wait. I think it's a breath of fresh air coming on the heels of House of the Dragon. What a triumph and season they had there. I can't wait to see this. I'm very stoked. But you know, I actually brought that up yesterday, Rob, about the fact that, oh, gosh, I don't know what happened the last time HBO did a DC series. Oh, right. Penguin. Right. How that turned out. Oh, that just got nominated. Yeah, it just got nominated for best drama series at the Emmys. Like that's all that happened with that. Now, I'm, I'm not sitting here saying that I'm expecting lanterns to be as good as Penguin. Okay? Like that. Sure. That's like saying, whenever there's a new mobster movie coming out, yeah, but is it going to be as good as the Godfather? Well, that's a ridiculously high standard. It doesn't have to be as good as the Godfather to still be awesome. And I'm not sitting here expecting Green Lantern or lanterns to be as good as Penguin. I mean, it could be nothing saying it can't. I'm saying I expecting that. All I'm saying is that it doesn't need to be as good as Penguin to still be fantastic. So I, I love hearing the reviews. It's not just I love seeing, you know, I want everything to be good. I just do. I want things to be great. So it's good to see positive reviews, but I really like what I'm hearing in the reviews. And so that's the part that I'm really excited about. Anyway, guys. question is for you. What do you think about this? The first reviews for lanterns are now and they're quite strong. Uh, each stronger than I thought they would be. We'll find out on Sunday when we get to see it for ourselves. Well, of course, Doomsday is coming. By the way, guys, there is a new Doomsday. There's a new Avengers Doomsday trailer coming out tonight. But we'll talk about that a little bit later, but just to give you a little foreshout and what's coming later in the show. So Doomsday is of course coming. And we've seen all types of stuff as a matter of fact, you know, the full ticket slate has gone on sale for Avengers Doomsday. This morning, I once again, guys had problems logging into my AMC account. Uh, that was obviously another thing where there's more people flooded into try to buy tickets. Uh, as a matter of fact, I'm going to see, you know what, I don't even know if it's worth trying. I'm going to try right now to see if I can log into AMC. And uh, it's letting me log into AMC. Okay. So if I go to my theater for AMC, I'm going to bring this up here. Uh, well, no, everything's crashing. Sorry. I thought it was going to work. But a little bit earlier today, a little bit earlier today, I was able to get on to the AMC website and I went and looked and like, there was like eight Dolby screenings that day and they were all down to a couple of front row seats and a couple of single seats. That was it. It was already for do what did I say? Oh, yes, for doomsday for Avengers Doomsday. My brain was thinking Doomsday. Sorry. I said the other day that I didn't buy Doomsday tickets actually did buy Doomsday tickets for the Chinese, which I totally forgot. Very nice. Well, Dooms doesn't want to get lost in that shuffle. So in case you guys haven't heard about this, Doon is actually going to release a few days early at least on iMac screens. As a matter of fact, iMacs is going to be showing 70 millimeter starting Monday, December 14th, not just the Thursday, December 17th and they're going to be showing having screenings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Monday, Tuesday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and they're going to be having screenings all of those days at least for 70 millimeter. The tickets for these screenings go on sale on Tuesday. This Tuesday is when tickets and tickets for these advanced early screenings are going to be there. Now, I already know one of the questions I'm going to get here and one of the questions we're going to get is John, does this count? Will these screenings count towards opening weekend? And the answer to that is I'm not really sure, but it doesn't matter because it is just I believe I believe it is just 70 millimeter iMac screenings. They're going to happen on the Monday, the Tuesday and the Wednesday. And so that is a very small, very small number of screens that even if they sell out, which I fully expect that they will, even if they all completely sell out, it's honestly going to be guys a blip on, on the meter. I don't really expect it to have much impact. So as far as the question goes, will these advanced screenings go towards the opening weekend? My answer is I don't know, but I don't really think it matters because I don't think it's going to make much of a difference. But I am still excited. To find out that by the time doonstay happens, I might be able to watch this movie four times before doomsday even arrives. It will also take some heat off the feet, not a lot. It's still going to be a massive, massive weekend. But it's going to take a little heat off of the weekend for doomsday. The busyness for the movie theaters. A little edge, a little edge. Because listen, one of the things we've talked about is that look, with all that every time tickets could become available for doomsday, they're getting sold out. June three, when it's early round, if tickets went on sale, not only did they sell out instantly, they were selling for $2,500 a pair on eBay. Not just being put on sale, they were being bought. Like you can put anything, you can set, put any price you want on something on eBay, but to somebody buy, they were selling for $2,500 a pair for those things. So I mean, this weekend, that weekend of December 18th is going to be a logistic nightmare for our friends of the movie theaters. I was just looking because we're talking about logistical nightmare. I was looking at doomsday at my theater here in Burbank, because that's what you were talking about earlier. There's a 340 AM screening at Burbank, and only the first row is available. So these, and that's doomsday. So these poor people that work at AMC are going to be working around the clock. I mean, there's going to be multiple shifts. It's going to be a crazy weekend. It's going to be nuts. And the nice thing now too is, like you were pointing out, Jonathan, is that I think these early screenings, the Monday, the Tuesday, the Wednesday, grant is just the 70 millimeters. As far as I know, as far as I know, it's just 70 millimeter. It's going to take some of the load. But I still think, here's the problem, though, even with those Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday screenings, I still think every 70 millimeter screening on the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th are all going to be sold out anyway. I think it's the same people. I think the people like the same people, the 70 millimeter locked in for the weekend are going to be like, let's also see it Monday and then go back in a few days. Is it you know what I mean? Yeah. Anyway, Rob, I, I really think this is a very smart move on the part of IMAX on the, on the part of Dune, like get out a couple of days early, squeeze in some of those extra screenings. I think it is a great move. And just for me, every minute earlier, I get to go and see Dune is a cherished, treasured minute to me. And what do you think about this move? Well, John, cherished minute is exactly what I'm thinking. I mean, maybe you can get four tickets or four groups of tickets and see it before the 18th. So you could be doomed out before Dune's day begins. So that's what I want to do because damn, I love me some Dune. And after what we saw it, Sima Khan, I can't wait. I think this is really smart. I love the fact that that entire week now is really going to, I'm going to celebrate Christmas starting on the 14th of December because we get to open our presents early, baby. And I think that this is a great move. It's a great move. I think it's really cool that they're taking advantage. We talked about the fact that those those iMac screens were open, you know, that they're open that somebody could take advantage and it's nice to see Warner Brothers step right on in. But you know what? It's again, I keep, I keep going back to the old alien versus predator. Whoever wins, we lose. Well, you know, it doesn't matter who wins because we win. We win. It's going to be, it might be. And I'm sure we're going to, we're going to talk a lot about this over the next four or five months. This might be for me as a film fan. If they even turn out around where I hope they will quality wise. This could be the greatest weekend for me as a movie fan ever. This could be the, but let me ask you this, Rob, like with these tickets going on sale on Tuesday, do you think, I mean, this is giving us, going to give us a really good little bit of insight into where the excitement level four, June three is apart from the Dune's day kind of phenomenon. Are you expecting these Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday screenings to sell out? Are you expecting them to sell well, but not necessarily sell out? What do you think? They're selling out. Yeah, I mean, hours. Yeah, they're going to sell out within hours. People are people are, you know, because look, Dune, the Dune franchise is Gen Z's interstellar successor. You know, I mean, I think people, you've got a whole generation of folks. And I mean, I'm Gen X, not boomers. Don't stop. I'm Gen X, but even we love, we love this too. But I think that you have, there is a fervor around the Dune franchise that has only grown in stature as the years have gone by and more people have seen the film. And I am, I'm going to be a part of it. I can't wait because I'm part of that fervor. So I think it's going to be fantastic. All right guys, go ahead, Jonathan. They might even roll it out a little bit wider. I not that I know of, but who knows what's possible. Are you going to try to go see some of those earlier screenings? All right, guys, with that down, we thought we would play ourselves a little game of what's more likely. Here's how what's more likely works a little bit earlier today. I jumped on the community tab on YouTube and ask you guys if you had any what's more likely scenarios for us. Jonathan's got a few of them all gathered up there. So Jonathan, what do we got up first? Okay, first up, Rob, what's more likely in the scenario from Josh Bendeluk. We get a Spider-Man and Fantastic Four team up first or a Spider-Man and Daredevil team up. I think a Spider-Man and Daredevil team up is more like, well, let me take that back. I think we're going to get a Spider-Man Fantastic Four team up in secret wars. There you go. So I'm going to say Fantastic Four, but it could also include Daredevil, but I'm going to say the Spider-Man Fantastic Four team up in secret wars somehow. All right, I think this one's easy, super easy. Even if you want to take let's take secret wars out of it. All right, and I think you were perfectly rational and reasonable to include secret wars, but let's take it out of it for a second and talk about what would be more likely a proper Fantastic Four Spider-Man crossover team up or a Spider-Man Daredevil one. Nobody watches Daredevil. Sorry. Am I wrong? We've talked, we've talked for months now, guys, about the fact that not once, not even in its finale, did Daredevil manage to even get on the top 10 streaming shows? I do. I really love Daredevil. I love Charlie Cox's Daredevil. I love Vincent Dinoff Rio as Kingpin. I could watch that every year for the next 20 years. I love it, but the reality is nobody watches it. So why on earth would Marvel waste their time with and waste Spider-Man by doing a Spider-Man like you might as well do what was what was agent agent gyms characters name again? You know, he plays the agent. Oh, it's a woo. Yeah. Yeah, you might as well do a Spider-Man agent woo crossover. I mean, it just it would be a waste of Spider-Man. I would love to see it. Don't get me wrong. But yeah, it is a way higher chance. It is far more likely that we would get a Spider-Man Fantastic Four crossover than we would a Spider-Man Daredevil because as much as I would want it to happen, the reality is nobody watches Daredevil. So what would be the point? All right, Jonathan, what do we got up next? All right, John. This comes from Omar. What's more likely in this scenario? Cameron. This would be James Cameron. Never makes the remaining Avatar films or Tarantino. Never makes his 10th film. You know what's funny in a lot of these what's more likely scenarios we often start with. Well, first of all, I don't think either of these will happen. But I guess I think there's a legitimate chance that neither of these things actually happen. Like I think there's a look, I think there is a chance James Cameron does not do and finish out the Avatar films. And I oddly enough think there is a chance Quentin Tarantino doesn't do his 10th. If I retire, if he doesn't do his 10th. Yeah, if he can't do his 10th, he's not officially retired. Now look, would I put money that James Cameron won't do the remaining Avatar? Obviously not. Would I put money on the thought that Tarantino doesn't do his 10th film? Obviously not. I'm just saying I think they're more possible than we might think. I would have to say at this point, I think it would be more likely that Cameron doesn't finish Avatar. Now you could point out rightfully so, John, they've already done some work on those Avatar films. Yes, they have. John Cameron has talked about doing the other Avatar films. Yes, they have. And you would be right to point that out. But the more and more you look at the financial realities that, well, all the Avatar films have made ridiculous amounts of money. The last one also made ridiculous amounts of money. But it made less ridiculous amounts of money. And Cameron recently did some comments about how, you know, to quote Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek the Next Generation. He's become aware at some point you become aware in life that there are fewer days ahead than there are behind. And he's talked about other projects he wants to do. So look, the reality here is guys, I think both of these things happen. Like I do think both happen. But if I had to guess about which one is more likely to not happen, I think it's more likely that James Cameron doesn't do Avatar. Anyway, Rob, what do you think? I agree with you. He's talked about obviously turning over the Avatar franchise before. I don't, Quentin Tarantino is absolutely going to make his 10th film. And I think he's absolutely then going to come out of retirement and make another movie because he won't be able to help himself. He'll come up with an idea. But Cameron not doing Avatar, I think is more likely because he wants to do more as you pointed out. There are fewer days ahead. And I think there's got to be a movie, probably a much smaller film. I'd love to see Cameron tackle a small budget movie and bring his abilities to something other than Pandora. I mean, think about it. All we've, we've only were since the 90s, we've gotten Titanic and three Avatar movies. Not that I'm not looking at gift-thorps in the mouth. But I would like to see James Cameron tell a different story. So I don't think he's, I think it's more likely that he will not do another. Avatar. All right. Jonathan, what do we got up next? All right. Next up Rob. This is coming from 10th Letta. Miles Morales being introduced in Secret Wars or Spider-Man 5? Well, I mean, after the Hickman Secret Wars and the comic, Miles Morales was, I don't think they're going to introduce Miles Morales in the Secret Wars because it's not a Sony movie. And I think if they're going to introduce Miles Morales, it'll obviously be after the third Spider-Verse film. And I think Miles Morales being introduced into the Spider-Man mythos is too important to put in the gimmicky crossovery goodness of Secret Wars. I think it's going to be a, I think it's going to be, I think maybe Miles Morales and Spider-Man, Peter Parker Spider-Man will be put into the same universe because of Secret Wars. But I think they're going to meet. And I would expect Spider-Man 5 would be a team-up film because that would be rad. So this one is going to be the easiest one of the day. And Rob, you perfectly laid it out why. Sony is not going to let Miles Morales be in Secret Wars. I mean, that's just that. And I'm going to go one step further. I don't think he's even going to be in Spider-Man 5 to be honest with you. Everybody's thinking that once beyond the Spider-Verse is done, and this has become a Mandela effect in the movie, movie community. There's this belief out there that once beyond the Spider-Verse is done, Sony is going to quit those Spider-Verse animated films and they're just going to let Marvel start using them. Kevin Feige never said that. Kevin Feige says they've got plans and they're looking forward to using Miles when Sony lets them. And I'll tell you what, if Spider-Man beyond the Spider-Verse makes even more money than Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse, this is Sony ain't going to let him go live action for a while. Why wouldn't you as Sony, then, since all of these other films are flopping and they've mentioned they're walking away from those, why wouldn't you focus on Miles Morales movies then? Yep, as Sony. So the easiest answer here is, what's more likely, secret wars are Spider-Man 5, easily the more likely is Spider-Man 5. And it is possible. It is possible. Sony could finish beyond the Spider-Verse and then go, okay, we're going to take a break from the animated stuff for a while, maybe 10, maybe 12 years, we'll let them do some live action. Again, I wouldn't bet money on him being in Spider-Man 5, but I think it is way more likely that he's in Spider-Man 5 than it would be that he's in secret wars. All right, Jonathan. What we got next? Next up, we're going to hear from Fan Guy. This goes to you, John. What's more likely, the Punisher gets a new MCU continuation or Daredevil Born again gets a season four. Again, this is another one of those things where I think both are very unlikely. The Punisher special feature didn't do huge numbers, but it made it all right. They did all right. And I love Punisher. Now, of course, the one thing, and this is the thing that separates it. Nobody watched Daredevil season three or season two, I should say, and we'll see how the numbers are for season three, but I think a season four for Daredevil is incredibly unlikely. The real thing that differentiates the two, though, is that Punisher was just in Spider-Man 2, or Spider-Man brand new day, and he was great in Spider-Man 2. Now, wherever you get your podcasts, and the audiences loved him in Spider-Man brand new day, which may be a double-edged sword because it may make Disney go, "Huh, a PG-13 Frank really worked with the audience." Maybe Frank can always be PG-13 now, which I don't know that John Bernthal would go for and all that kind of stuff. But again, I'm saying it could be a double-edged sword there. But I mean, the fact that he was so beloved by the audience in Spider-Man brand new day, again, I don't think we're going to see solo stuff from Punisher or Daredevil anymore after Daredevil season three, to be honest with you. But I think the one that has the definitely is more likely is Punisher because of how much he was beloved in Spider-Man brand new day. Rob, what do you think? I think that's probably true. I mean, I think the likelihood that we're going to see Frank Castle again is higher. I don't know where, you know, but I do think, look, I think the thing is I could see, you know, there's that great scene in Daredevil where Punisher and Daredevil were talking like on the roof of a building underneath like that billboard. They have that like come to Jesus moment between the two of them. I could see Frank Castle serving the same purpose in the MCU somewhere. And I would really like to see something like that. Now I've drifted away. What is it? It's between what and what now? Daredevil season four. Yeah, there's not going to be a Daredevil season four. I want to see Punisher and Deadpool. Oh, I would love to see Punisher and Deadpool. I think that the thing is Daredevil, I'd like Daredevil born again seasons one and two. But like you said, I think Daredevil, after brand new day, I think Daredevil could easily be slotted into the MCU somewhere. And I, you know, even if Spider-Man and Daredevil and Punisher team, but he's not popular enough. Why would you slide him into the MCU when nobody's watching him for free on Disney+. I mean, I don't know if it's the character or if it's the series that people are shying away from. I don't know. By the way, I just want to throw out there that a couple of people saying, John, Punisher trended on the top 10 of Disney+. Yeah, but nobody, nobody has Disney+. It never cracked the real top 10 lists, not just on Disney+. So that's not a lot of people watch original stuff on Disney+. So it doesn't, now don't get, listen, do not misinterpret me. I love this Punisher. I will take, I will take an annual special feature. I will take his own series. I will take Punisher standalone movies. I want it all. I'm just saying is the reality is that the numbers of it didn't do great by other show standards. But here's here's open. All right. What do we got? One more? Yes. I think this is the last one. All right. What do we got up next? All right, Rob. This is coming from Anton Partouche. What's more likely? Star Wars Starfighter is a higher or lower opening than Rogue One, which was I think 155. Oh, I think it's going to have a higher opening. I think Starfighter's Star Wars last best hope for peace. So I think that if they play their cards right with Sean Levy, Ryan Gosling, forgot that team, I think that Starfighter, and I guess they're going to, we'll talk about it later, but I think that I think they're going to make sure that this movie comes out guns of blazing. But 155 is pretty high. Now I'm going to bet on it. I'll go 156 in the showcase showdown. Rob, I love your optimism. There's no way it makes 155 opening weekend. And listen, I'm a believer in Starfighter. I'm a believer in Starfighter, but it's going to have to earn it from the audience before they go rushing out on opening weekend. The reality is Mandalorian and Grogu is going to hurt it. Mandalorian Grogu, like having the first Star Wars live action movie come out in seven years and have it be a fart. Again, Mandalorian Grogu wasn't terrible. It wasn't garbage, but it wasn't very good. And the audience did not embrace it. And that is going to hurt Starfighter. It just is. That doesn't mean Starfighter can't be a big success, ultimately. But guys, listen, let's not get over romanticized by the fact that, but Spider-Man just had 360. That's a stupid number. That's stupid. Okay. That is the highest of all time blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. 155 million opening is massive. Don't lose sight of that. 155 million, which is what Rogue One made on its opening weekend is a massive opening. And I think Starfighter will be a success. I think it's going to be really good. I think it's going to have legs. But I also think the state of Star Wars as it is combined with the fact that we're coming off of the seven year return to the theaters by Star Wars with Mandalorian and Grogu, which ended up as a disappointment is going to temper that excitement at first. I think it can have a big opening weekend. I think it can have an 80 million dollar opening weekend. I think maybe even 100 million. But I just think there's just too much stuff stacked against it right now to think that with it not being a sequel, with it having no recognizable characters, which is a good thing, by the way. I'm not saying otherwise. That's a good thing. But it doesn't have enough going for it to have that monstrous opening weekend. Whereas, I think it'll have a very, very good opening weekend and then great legs and then maybe finish with 600, 700, 800 million. But I, I hope you're right, Rob. I hope you're right. And I'm wrong. But I just don't, I just can't see it making 155 opening weekend. Anyway, guys, that will wrap up this session of what's more likely. This is when and tonight on Friday night at 7 o'clock Los Angeles time is when Disney Pictures is going to be doing its big presentation. That will include a Marvel Pixar, Star Wars, Lucasfilm, things like that. But things that are going to be coming in the movie screen and on the television screen. Now, being, you know, kind of a little bit positioned as, as Rob and I are, we have heard things that we can probably expect to come tonight. And we're going to break this down in the campy classroom here between things that are going to be talked about with a, we've heard they're going to be talking about tonight that have already been announced. And then we're going to talk about the things you can expect to see announced tonight. So let's start off in the stuff that has already been announced. We know this stuff is coming, but these are going to be things that we have heard they're going to be talking about during the presentation. Starting off with Coco too, which I am thrilled that they are doing Coco to that, that to me, Rob, that first Coco movie. Oh, it's incredible. It was one of the Pixar films that I went into thinking this one looks like it could be one of the weaker ones. And I came out, I'm not crying, you're crying. Like it was, it was, it's just like one of the most emotionally satisfying picks. I'm not going to say it's the best Pixar film, but it was one of the most emotionally satisfying Pixar films I, I think I've, I've ever seen. It was just so beautifully done. entertaining. So they're going to be talking about a little cocoa too tonight. All right. The next thing up that I do not care about, Princess Diaries, sorry, Princess Diaries three, is what they're going to be talking about. What we understand is Anne Hathaway is going to be coming out to do some stuff about Princess Diaries three. And that is all good. Also, Lilo and Stitch two presentation is going to be given tonight. So that I like Lilo and Stitch. I didn't think it was as good as obviously I didn't think it was good as the animated one, but I still thought it was all because of that little girl, all because of that little girl. I thought it was definitely still endearing and cute to watch. And so I'll look forward to Lilo and Stitch two. Also doing a presentation tonight. Percy Jackson, season, wow, season three is going to be talked about tonight. They're going to have some of the cast members come out on stage and do a little, little something, something on there. Now I believe this one has been announced before. Forgive me if I'm wrong and it hasn't been, but I believe it has been announced already. Camp Rock three. They're going to have some people come out on stage. Yeah, it's not trailer for that. Okay, so yeah, so this is something, this was something, again, I don't really care about it, so I'm not paying a lot of attention to it. But that's something they're talking about. Ice age 68, whichever number of the point. I noticed I stayed one short of 69. I stayed one short of that. That's for the next sequel. We'll give them that on the next sequel. All right, so there's that. Then I believe they are bringing out Rami and Michelle two. I expect Lisa Kudrow will be there coming out on stage to talk about Rami and Michelle too. By the way, this one doesn't fall under either stuff already announced or announcements per say, but Rob, I was very excited to hear about this one. I believe tonight there is going to be a special presentation and I don't know if it's going to be accompanied by an announcement of any kind or if it's going to be accompanied by like some special re-release or a sequel. I don't know. But from what I understand, the greatest showman is going to have a presentation tonight. Rob, I mean for another movie, another greatest showman. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know if it's going to be for an announcement for a release or a re-release in theaters or a series or a sequel or I mean, I don't know. I have no idea. But you guys know I believe that the greatest showman is the greatest musical movie of all time. And every time I watch it, I grow further and further absolutely convinced of that. I think it is the greatest musical ever. And I'm stoked about it. Can't wait for it. And so again, I don't know if this is just going to be a special little treat or maybe they bring out some of the cast and they just saying, this is the greatest show to open up the D23. That would be pretty cool. I don't know if they're going to have Tweet Twa, the little Wolverine. What's what's the name of the guy? Who was in the greatest showman with you, Jackman? main guy, little Wolverine. Yeah, everybody says Wolverine. He was an iron claw and, you know, 17 again, 17 again, Zach Efron. Yeah, I don't know if it's they're going to be announcing that Zach Efron is going to be starring in number two. I don't know. But just from what I understand, there's going to be some kind of a greater showman thing tonight. So yeah, there's that. Somebody's asking in the light chat, how come John isn't going to D23? Because D23 can burn in hell. Why did you ask that? That's Disney fucking sucks at at these conventions. They fucking suck. And I'll never grace one of their. But once in a while, they can put on a good present. I give credit where credits do once in a while, they can put in and there are D23 movie stuff is usually pretty good. Anyway, so let's let's go on here. What else have I heard? Oh, yes. So apparently, there's also going to be a presentation for as I scrambled live action. There's going to be and I and I understand. With the tangled live action, the Catherine Han, who we all, of course, know was, was cast in tangled. She's going to be the evil stepmother thing. So she's going to be there doing a bit of a tangled thing. What else am I missing here? There was something else with the Catherine Han that it was like, well, yeah, well, I'm going to put that one under the announced because I don't know if that's been announced yet or not. All right. Thank you. Also, of course, they're going to talk about Vision Quest. Actually, I think that's all one word. One word, yeah. Yeah, they're going to be talking about Vision Quest. So we're going to be seeing them on stage talking about that. Also, Ahsoka season, who cares. There we go. I think that's the official subtitle for the for the season this year. Ahsoka, that's the next movie. That's the next movie. That's the next big Lucasfilm thing. Okay. Ahsoka season fetch because they're always trying to make fetch happens. Always trying to make it happen. Dave Filoni, stop trying to make Ahsoka happen. It's not happening. Anyway, by the way, I say that, but God, I love her, Zaryo Dawson, Ahsoka. I think she is great in the role. I really do. I may have been underwhelmed with season one, but she is great in it. She's great in it. Okay. Also, and then of course, they are going to come out on stage and do a little presentation for Starfighter. And here is our understanding. Our understanding, at least the whispers I've heard, I'm not completely 100% sure about it. But the word is, and we talked about this yesterday, that they are going to show the D23 audience the first trailer for Star Wars Starfighter, that it will not then be released online, but might be released a little bit later in the year, maybe when endgame or a doomsday comes out and they might release it with doomsday. But our understanding is there may be dropping a trailer for Starfighter tonight. So that's pretty good. Also, some of the things that something they are probably going to be talking about here tonight is going to be the Simpsons movie two, which of course they announced a while ago that that was going to be happening. Gosh, am I missing anything? I don't know if I'm missing anything. Well, I mean, one thing, obviously two, frozen three, they're going to bring the cast, they're going to bring the cast out on stage for frozen three. They're going to be talking about that. So yeah, that's the stuff that falls at Rob. Can you think of anything that I might be missing under the category of stuff that we know is coming and that they're going to be doing a first thing? I didn't say X-Men because that will kind of fall under the announcements. Okay, so you're okay. Got it. Got it. No, I mean, obviously, the obvious thing, there'll be some kind of a Doomsday presentation, you know, I'm sure. Oh, for sure. Let's go ahead. He's D23 every year, every other year. I believe it's every other year. It's not every year. It's not every year. I wonder if they're going to touch on Incredibles three because the next time it rolls around, Incredibles three will have already been out. Yeah, I have not heard anything about an Incredible three like thing 20 months away. So I completely agree. I think I will be a little surprised if they don't. Now, the one thing I should say is that from what we understand, and this shouldn't be a surprise to anybody, Peter, Dr. I believe that's a spell is the name. Who is the head of Pixar? We'll be doing a presentation. Probably a short one. I put Pixar. Pixar season three. That's like grape poupon. It's the mustard version. Pixar that he will be doing a I think a short presentation and maybe in that he'll be talking about Incredibles three. Maybe we'll find out. Okay. Now we get onto announcements. All right. Take this as you will. But these are the things you may have heard of some of these things. You may have not heard of some of these things, but here are some of the things you may be wanting to keep your eye on tonight. Chris Abbott from I got to put this in her story. I just have to from Craven the Hunter. Isn't Chris Abbott what's her face as new husband? Didn't have a kid? I'm not sure. Um, you know, the really funny girl. You're really helping us out here, Rob. Why am I drawing a play her, her, her, her, her husband passed away. Oh, yes, Aubrey Plaza. Aubrey, yes, he's married to Aubrey Plaza, right? Oh, I didn't know that. He's a great actress like on Broadway on deathless in death of a salesman. Wait, Aubrey Plaza got remarried already. Yeah, I didn't know that and they have a child. I did not have a child like last month, I think. Yeah, I love Aubrey Plaza. I love Aubrey Plaza. So anyway, going over to the announcement, Chris Abbott tonight will be announced as Professor X from what we understand as well. The actor playing Mr. Sinister will be revealed tonight. So that's, that's a couple of things. Rob, you remember, we, there were some names that were floated around before from my understanding. None of the names that we had heard floated around are actually going to end up being Mr. Sinister. Maybe yes, maybe no. I mean, I don't know, but the understanding, I mean, from what I've heard, they're going to be revealing Mr. Sinister tonight. Have you heard that? And if so, have you heard any names that it could actually be, you know, I've heard whispers whispers. I was, I heard some whispers about this. Now, here's the thing. There's been a lot of talk. They're like Kevin Feige when he was doing the rounds with Amy Pascal. I was talking a lot about Adam Driver, how Adam Driver kept turning them down. Yes. He said, it's a tradition now that tradition. Every year we go and pitch him a roll and he keeps saying no. I think I, maybe it was Boss Logic. You think that was a smoke screen? I think it was, they're going to, they're going to play, they're playing it up. They're playing it up for this announcement because I think it was Boss Logic who did a piece of art that I saw in the last week of Adam Driver's Mr. Sinister. First of all, I love Mr. Sinister. I don't know how they're going to deal with his name, you know, maybe just Nathaniel Essex, whatever. But I love Mr. Sinister. Love, love, love Mr. Sinister. And Adam Driver in that fan art, I'm like sold to the man on the screen. I mean, it looks so good. I would love to see him as Mr. Sinister because Adam Driver has a very unique face. It doesn't look like anybody else and he looks damn good as Mr. Sinister. So I think we're going to, I think, you know what? I'm going to, I'm going to go to Calche or Polymarket. I'm going to bet that it's going to be Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister. So, yeah. So again, we're all hearing that Mr. Sinister will be revealed tonight alongside Chris Abbott, who's going to be announced as Professor X. And there could be a couple of others. We also understand that the already announced cast members will be on stage with them. Sadie Sink, the kid they just cast to play Cyclops. Kit. Kit. That's right. Kit Conner is going to be out. Which is a totally made up name. It's going to be on sale. It's probably his real name, but it sounds like such a made up name. Is it a bridge? I think he's a brick. Oh, they're all, if they're all Brits these days, all them are Brits these days. All right. So that's a couple of things you can expect from X men. So they're, they're going to talk X men and there's a couple of things you're going to get from X men. Also, here's an interesting one. Kiran Culkin. This is Wolverine. Featured in a new animated film coming called play, not to be confused with clay face. That is a very, very different project that's coming, but he's going to be featured in a thing called clay. I have no idea what it's about. I have no idea what it is, what the premise is, who's directing it. I don't know anything about it. Just basically that they're going to be talking about that. Now here's one that I think is really interesting to me. From what I hear, we'll find out. They are going to announce a Gaston movie with Glen Powell. Now, whether that is a live action film, whether that is an animated film, all of these are questions I do not have answers to. But you know, Rob, they've been talking about doing Gaston. I think ever since we were still doing videos at Collider, they've been talking about doing a Gaston spin-off. There was originally a who played Gaston in the live action thing. I love this guy. He was the bad guy in Fast and the Furious. He played Gaston alongside Josh Gad as LaFou. Luke Evans. There was talk about Luke Evans doing it and then that never like really came to fruition. Maybe it does. Maybe it doesn't. But that's one of the things that I think we can half expect. Next, new Doomsday trailer. This one you can lock in now because there's a TV spot guys for a new TV spot that they are dropping tonight for Avengers Doomsday. That has all footage we've seen already. But it ends with, take us on sale now and new trailer online now. That has actually leaked online. And so a lot of people were already suspecting that they might be dropping a new trailer today to go along with the big announcement of all the tickets being on sale and everything like that. And so all that is left now for us is to speculate. Is it the trailer that they showed at San Diego Comic Con? Because it should be. I don't know if it is. I don't know. But Rob, I don't know if you noticed this today. The Avengers countdown clock revealed a new poster and they had the Sue Storm voiceover play with it. That is from the San Diego Comic Con version of the trailer. So sure seems that way then. Yeah. I'm thinking they're going to show that trailer. Again, this is a speculating. I think they're going to show that trailer from Comic Con at D23 tonight. And then they're going to put it online. So I don't know. Rob, do you think they're going to show that same trailer tonight? Do you think it'll just be a recut of the original trailer? Or maybe you don't think there's going to be trailer at all? What have you heard? Well, no. I mean, look, we know that they have that trailer that they had for San Diego. So why not show it at D23? We know that they're selling tickets. They want to make a big splash. I think, indeed, we're going to get a new trailer. Maybe they'll show scene or something. But you know what? I think they're going to announce the tickets are on sale and they're going to show this trailer. Because it seems like with all these presentations stuck into a two-hour time frame, I mean, they're going to just rush through all this stuff. So it's not like they can, they'll probably do like Comic Con people come on. They announce things and they walk off. But I do think they're going to think. It is only a two-hour because, I mean, like, look at this list, guys. Look how already big this list is. It's only a two-hour presentation that they're doing. So I think a lot of this stuff is going to be brushed through pretty quick. Yeah. But I, yeah, I think they're definitely going to probably show something new from Doomsday. And if you think about it, I mean, we're getting close, you know, September, October, November, December. Yeah. It's so we're going to. It is time for them to put the foot down on getting the marketing campaign going up until now. It's been a little bit early. It's four days. It's going to be four months. Yeah. It's time to start ramping it all up. I almost forgot about this one as far as announcements go. There have been reports of this already. But I think tonight is going to be the first real confirmation of it. I think a Miss Piggy movie. Yeah. Doomsday's nice. X men's good. Starfighters fine. But ladies and gentlemen, a Miss Piggy movie is going to be discussed and talked about tonight there. So keep for those of you who are fans of the Muppets. Keep your eyes open for that. Rob, I think that's everything I've got. I mean, all the stuff that I remember you and I talking about at any rate, is there anything else that I may not have that you've got? They're going to do something. I would imagine about the 50th anniversary of Star Wars. Oh, right. Because they're putting that out in theaters. you know, they're re-releasing the original version, which they've been remastering. So I'm sure that would be something and I'll tell you something. I have no reason to believe this. I have not heard anything all bet you that they're going to make some kind of an announcement about the, we got Starfighter coming out, everybody knows that. They'll show whatever Gosling will probably come out because he's in the air and everywhere. But I think they're going to make another Star Wars announcement about another movie. I don't know why. That would be pretty big. Yeah, I think because they're going to point out that 2027 is the 50th anniversary of Star Wars. We have Star Wars coming out, a re-release Starfighter comes out next year. But what's next? What begins the next half century of Star Wars? And I think they're going to tie those something. And I don't know what it's going to be. I just think there's going to be some Rando Star Wars announcement. No one's ever heard about that people are going to be excited about whatever that is. Here's the thing. Star Wars celebrations coming up. And I wonder if they might not save anything like that for the next Star Wars celebration. That would make sense. That would make it. But to your point, though, Rob, here's something that backs up what you were saying is that listen, Dave Filoni and I feel terrible about Star Wars's Peter Safran, the girl who is the co-CEO of Lucasfilm now with Dave Filoni. Because we only ever mentioned Dave Filoni. So I'll do respect. I forget who the co-CEO's name is or the co-president's name. They've been named as Kathleen Kennedy successors for a while now. And we haven't gotten anything. And that's going to be like the first real entry into the Dave Filoni president X era of Lucasfilm. So that needs to come soon. And like, I know somebody like me is waiting on baited breath to find out is that first real big movie going to be a new true original, a new era for Star Wars? Or is it going to be the sad sack? Let's just keep playing member berries stuff that we've been getting. And that's what I'm excited to see. I'm excited to see what direction and maybe they give us a little hint of that tonight. But I got a feeling they're going to focus on Starfighter and save anything else probably for Star Wars celebration. That'd be my guess. But I think there's an argument to be made that you could be right about that Rob. I think there's an argument to be made. Just you know what? I just hope. I just hope. I just hope. I almost think it's better that they focus on Starfighter and get that excitement going up before they're like and something else. Yeah, I think you're right, Rob. I think they do mention something about Star Wars 50th anniversary. They've got a Soca season two that they want to focus a bit on. They got Starfighter. So there's already a good amount of stuff there for Lucasfilm or for yeah, for Lucasfilm to talk about. All they need to talk about next is the Howard the Duck remake. And then they'll be cooking with gas. But I don't know. We'll see going over my notes. If Marvel, because Marvel did not do like a slate reveal at Comic Con. I wonder if they they might do a slate reveal. I doubt it. I mean, again, it's a two hour presentation tonight. And there's like I think like 30 or 40 things like I don't think Marvel's going to have a ton of time. Plus Marvel's going to be focusing a lot on X on on Doomsday and Xman. And I don't think they're going to be. I don't expect them to be talking about honestly. I don't think I don't expect to hear any talk about future slate until Doomsday is at least in the rearview mirror. Um, yeah. Secret Wars kind of has them hamstrung because it's like they can only reveal so much because then we know what happens after secret wars. So yeah, but I mean, like somebody in the live chat is saying the no slate reveal before secret wars. Yes, there will be because after secret wars, there's nothing. There's nothing. So you have to like you can't wait until after secret wars before you start announcing what comes next. But I do think it won't be before we at least get Doomsday in the rearview mirror. And then we'll go from there. Anyway, guys, that is all the stuff that you can expect. We believe to hear mentioned and talked about brought up and announced at D23. I'm sure we're wrong on a couple of them. I'm sure there are going to be some surprises come up that we didn't even think about. But keep your eyes open tonight on there. I'm saying let's keep our expectations tempered. So we're able to enjoy the show and just judge it on its own merits, not judge it in comparison to our expectations, but I'm not going to line you a manual. Hey, John, does your family farm do fresh produce care packages? Because with all the recalls, what is there left to eat or drink at this point? I guess we've got to start eating hopes and dreams. Hopefully those don't get contaminated too. I will know. No, the the campier ranch as I refer to it as the campier ranch is not really a farm, although it does have a farming elements to it. Here's a here's a good picture of my wife and with over at the ranch. So the way the ranch works is that my dad's got a big chunk of property. But I believe, I think this is how it works. I believe my dad rents out like one quarter of the property to a farmer that lives across the way. So I think across the way there's a guy who's a full-time farmer who uses all his land for farming. And then I think my dad then like leases out to him like one quarter of the property to be used for crops. And I think he does things like one year he'll do corn and then one year he'll do soybeans or something like that. But no, basically the ranch is just for my dad to have the land. He loves the land. He loves working. He has animals and stuff like that. But no, it's not generally used for traditional farming per se, except for what he rents out to his neighbor. All right. You know, when people ask me, what is my favorite format to go and watch a movie in? There are several that I love. I just had my first screen X experience, really loved it. Obviously, love the iMac's experience. I've only got a couple of times that I've really enjoyed for DX. But my go to one is still the Dolby Prime at AMC. And it's that combination of that incredible picture you get from the dual laser system, the Dolby at most surround sound, and then all tied together nicely with those really nice leather recliners. That altogether for me makes it my top viewing experience of choice. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Patrick. I thought you would. I thought you would. And I'm glad you enjoyed it again. Spider-Man is my favorite superhero, and this movie makes me feel like a kid in a candy store can't wait for Doomsday. I think the thing that really gets me was just how good it is. Like, I was, it's Destin Daniel Cretan directing it. So I was expecting it to be quite good. I was expecting it to be quite good. I was not expecting it to be my favorite of the Tom Holland era Spider-Man movies. Now, I'm not gonna lie. I still put Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 and the two Spider-Verse animated movies as the three in no particular order. Those are the three best Spider-Man movies ever made, I believe. But I have loved all the Tom Holland era Spider-Man films, and I think this one is easily the best of those. And I wasn't prepared to love that movie as much as I do, and I'm with you. I'm looking forward to seeing it several more times, Patrick. You and me, both my friend. Again, Patrick, thank you so much for supporting us on that level, man. Really appreciate it. All right, Keshev writes, "Do you think you will do a livestream of the announcements similar to Comic-Con?" Yes, that's the plan. Unless something comes up, that is the plan to do the livestream tonight. Again, just to balance expectations, understand that I do not believe that Disney is like, I'm not gonna be showing it on my stream. I'm just gonna be following what's happening much like we did at Comic-Con. I'm gonna be following what's happening on some websites updating. What people there are tweeting out. That's how we're gonna be doing it and talking about all the things that they bring up and discuss, that's what we're gonna do tonight. All right, next up, "Rich Reviews writes, "saw the end of Oak Street, I loved it. "It reminds me of, and this is a compliment, "a very good episode of Twilight Zone and Outer Limits." You know what? I hadn't thought about that, but I think you're absolutely right. I think you're absolutely right. I had a good time at it. Again, I don't know that it's gonna end up on my top 10 favorite films of the year list, but I had a very enjoyable experience watching it. I thought the thrills were really good. I thought there were some good emotional moments, a couple of legitimate surprises to me, and I thought a very satisfying ending. So yeah, it, for me, it was a winner. I really enjoyed the film myself as well, Rich. All right, Rich also writes, given everything in recent weeks about the language, monopolies and monopsony, wouldn't the WWE be categorized as such considering that every other promotion is small potatoes? I don't really know because I don't know where that would fall under in the industry, and I don't know the industry well enough to know if that's what it is. Now, I could see that maybe being a problem like would that have become an issue when they bought WCW? 'Cause it's only really becomes an issue once you get to a merger and an acquisition. And I would think if there was ever going to be a problem with that is when way back in the day after the Monday Night Wars is when WWE bought WCW. If there would have been one, it would have been then. Why it didn't, I don't know. It must be the way that the industry is defined or stuff like that. So I really don't know. 'Cause I don't know the wrestling industry well enough to know how that would or wouldn't fall under certain categories. It's a very good question though, Rich. It's a really good question. I just don't know the answer to it. Rich also writes, "Given that Hades town "the musical has grossed over 20 million, "what are your expectations for the six, "musical in which Henry VIII's wives or pop stars? "I, my wife, actually took me to go see six "on a live stage show. "It was great. "For those you don't know, the, what six is, "I believe that's what it's called. "I think it's called, I think it's just called six. "Or it's either the six or just six. "Or is it seven?" Now I can't remember, in any way. The idea is that it's told from the perspective of all of Henry VIII's wives. And they are basically talking about Henry VIII and it's a musical and the music is great. And it's all talks about their experiences with Henry VIII. And I gotta tell you, it's been about two or three years since I've seen it since Anne took me to it, but it was really good. So I don't know what that's gonna feel like on a movie screen, but I do know that in and of itself, it's worth checking out because I had a great time with it, to be honest. All right, thanks, that Rich. Next up, Raymond Verrata writes, "Did you read about the British Columbia theater employee "who made his hand-drawn Spider-Man brand new day poster "when they didn't get one?" The theater took it down when the studio complained. Oh, I haven't heard about it, but that makes sense. I mean, look. And again, I had not heard about this story. I'm just saying it makes sense because movie distributors spend a lot on godly amount of money, on meticulously crafting what they want the image of the movie to be. And they spend a lot of money and go through a lot of committees and go through a lot of artists and go through a lot of rounds and revisions to come up with what posters they want, what they want displayed, all that kind of stuff. Because to them, it's a part of what's being presented to the public of what their movie is. And if a movie theater puts up a poster that is not their poster and is not putting out the image of the movie that they want the image of the movie to be, I get it. I get the studio saying you need to take it down. So it seems like a common sense thing, I get it, but I totally understand that why the studios, why the distributors would do that. So yeah, that does kind of make sense, but I hadn't heard of it, I hadn't heard of it yet. All right, next up, we've got Derek, who writes, "John, do you take requests for cities to be included "in your movie Meetup Roots? "I'd love for you to visit Sue St. Marie, Ontario." And I know, some of you are reading that and says, "John, that does not say Sue, yes, it does, "that's Sue St. Marie. "I will probably not get up to Sue St. Marie "because I don't think I have any viewers here. "I don't think it's, that's like a full day of travel "to get there and I don't think I have any viewers "in Sue St. Marie. "I have spent a decent amount of time in Sue St. Marie. "I love Sue St. Marie. "But I am going to be doing a Canadian leg. "I have not done a pure Canadian leg "of the movie Meetup tour yet, and it is coming." So I have two legs coming up before Christmas, probably in the next couple of months. One leg is going to be a US leg where we are definitely going to hit cities such as 100% we're going to hit Nashville, 100% 100% we're going to hit Atlanta. 100% we're going to hit North Carolina, which city exactly I'm not sure yet, but we're definitely going to hit North Carolina, North Carolina. I'm also considering Miami, Pittsburgh, and maybe one or two others. The other one is going to be a Canadian leg. And that will include starting on the West Coast. That will include Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon. Nobody lives in Saskatoon, but I live there for a number of years, so heartstrings. I want to stop in Saskatoon. Probably Winnipeg. And then I might even go as far into Quebec and do Montreal, maybe Quebec City, we'll see. So yeah, there's all that. Alright, Mitch writes, "What's your favorite film score from a less prestige or less obvious film?" For example, I love the score from love, actually. You know, that's a great question, but it's not one I carry the answer around off the top of my head too. I mean, my favorite soundtrack is obviously everything to do with Star Wars, John Williams' music and Star Wars. As far as score in the experience of the movie, pick your poison of one of the three. It's got to be Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings music. It's just, it's such a living part of the movie. That's the thing, right? Shore scored a Lord of the Rings, and I just recently went to a Lord of the Rings concert, but also before that, I went to a four string quartet, a string quartet evening concert just doing Lord of the Rings music, and the thing is, more than most movies, the music of Lord of the Rings, like I said, is a living part of the movie, just a living part of the movie. And so, yeah, I'm going to go with that one. I know that doesn't really fall into category of the less prestige ones, but I don't carry that around off the top of my head. It's an excellent question, but so for now, you'll just have to do with me saying Lord of the Rings. All right, Christopher Brickner writes, "John Oliver's joke about repeated failed attempts is good news, being huge for DC films, if true in his new video on the DOJ and is at the 12 minute mark." Yeah, so that came up the other day. The joke was really funny. Somebody brought it up. I haven't seen it yet myself, but I love John Oliver. I just always think his jokes are hilarious, and his insight is pretty damn sharp too. Let's see, frame by frame writes, "John lanterns post show discussion." So, here's what I'm going to do. I am going to do a lanterns post show discussion, not on Sundays, because I have dungeons and dragons on Sundays. But I'm going to do them on Monday night, and I will at least do the first episode, but I make no commitment to doing the other ones, depending on how I like it or not, because I was going to do, I did start doing the post shows for like Star Wars, the accolade, but then it ended up being garbage, and I didn't want to keep doing it. I didn't want to talk about it anymore, so I stopped doing it. So, I will at least do episode one of a post show discussion on Monday night, the night after it airs, and then I make no commitments after that. Appreciate that, man. And Sin Vendetta writes, "Hey John, just a suggestion, but what would you think about doing a local movie meetup for Coyote versus Acme? No chance." Especially since the reviews are looking excellent, I'm sure you'd get a good turnout. Just putting it out there. Nope, no chance. First of all, I don't think I'd be doing a movie meetup by the time it comes out. Secondly, I don't think anybody's interested in going to see the movie. Like when I pick a movie for a movie meetup, it has to be one that I believe a lot of people are looking forward to seeing, because I'm asking them to buy tickets to go see this movie. Right now, Coyote versus Acme isn't even projected to make $10 million opening weekend. Don't blame me. That's just what the projections are. So it's clearly not a movie a lot of people are anxious to see. Just not. That's just the facts. Don't be mad at me. I'm not saying that's the way it should be. I'm not saying it doesn't deserve more attention. But when I'm picking these movies, I got to pick one that I think people are actually wanting to go and buy a ticket to anyway. So number one, it comes out too early. I don't think I'll be on the road by the time Coyote versus Acme comes out. But number two, it's just not a movie enough people want to see it. I'm looking forward to seeing it. But the facts tell us that not a lot of people are. So I can't pick Coyote versus Acme. I'll be going to see it myself, no doubt, but it can't be for a movie meetup though. All right. Next up, Zau writes, "John, the Damage Control agent after I'm not going to talk about that. It sounds like it's going to be a spoiler. So I'm going to jump on from that." Sorry, Zau. Quentin Carter writes, "With the success of the Odyssey, what do you think the odds are of another studio adapting the Iliad in the next five to ten years? Unless they're doing it with Christopher Nolan, they have no reason to believe it's, it will be successful." Because let's be honest, it worked because Christopher Nolan. So you can't just go, "Oh, that worked. Therefore this will work." There's one big, my big, big major difference. Christopher Nolan's not directing it. Now, if some other studio can get Christopher Nolan to come on board, or maybe a Denieville move or something like that, maybe. But they already did Troy. And Troy's kind of essentially the Iliad. So honestly, no, that was somebody might on a lower budget scale, but yeah, the big thing here wasn't just Odyssey. It was Odyssey being done by Christopher Nolan. So unless you also get Christopher Nolan, I don't think you can make, I think that's a false equivalency. And so I don't know that that would be happening. All right. Jack Loudon writes, oh, no, sorry, upside down writes, "Jack Loudon is now the new front runner for James Bond. I actually think it's a good shout because I think he is especially good in slow horses." Yeah. And I've never watched slow horses. By the way, there is nobody from Amazon, nobody from MGM, and certainly not Denieville Noove have said, Jack Loudon is the front runner to play James Bond. I just want us to be very clear about that. Jack Loudon is the front runner to play James Bond is what's being put out by people who do not know. Now, I am certainly not saying Jack Loudon is not going to be the next James Bond. It's very well could be that he has talked with people that that's all possible. I just want to make sure when we're talking about this, that nobody from a position that would know is saying Jack Loudon is the front runner to play James Bond. It's all being said by people who are third parties. Again, that does not take away the possibility at all. It does not mean that in the next four weeks, we may not hear an announcement about it. I'm just saying that now I have not seen slow horses, so I'm at a disadvantage of that. All my friends, including Jonathan, keep telling me I got to watch slow horses. I've never gotten around to it, but I probably should at some point. All right. Jay Bat is asking, "How do I send a superchat?" Like I announced earlier, I turned off superchats about 40 minutes ago. Lots are turned on for the beginning of the show, but then once there's enough in there that I don't know that I could get them all done in time, then I turn off the superchat. The superchats have unfortunately been turned off, but try again on Monday. All right. Next up, we've got Zal again. Okay. This one can be read. John, maybe there will not be a Secret Wars part two, but Doomsday part two next year before Secret Wars, so still possible, still three Avenger movies, no, zero chance. Kevin Feige was asked directly about that in an interview recently, and he debunked all of it. There is not going to be a Doomsday part two. There's not going to be a Secret Wars part two. We're getting Doomsday and we're getting Secret Wars. That's it. Now, have stranger, listen. We live in a world where Jamie Foxx came back to play electro again, something that I would have bet my left foot would never happen in a million years after the amazing Spider-Man two. And yet we live in a world where that actually happened. So I will never say never, however, I don't deal in possibilities, ideal in probabilities. And the probability is no, there's not going to be a Doomsday part two, nor a Secret Wars part two. But again, we live in a world where Jamie Foxx came back to play electro again. All right. Next up, team Kaboozles writes, happy Friday, which is better, a movie you had a great experience watching, but forgettable or not great experience, but you kept thinking about it after always the experience for me, always the experience movies are experiential events. The movies are meant to give us an experience. Some people phrase it differently. They say movies are meant to make us feel and that's a hundred percent accurate. That's a hundred percent true. But that implies an experience. So for me, that's how I judge an entire movie. I'm not saying other people need to, but for me, it's all about the experience. Why did I experience, did it make me experience something while I was watching that movie? Whether the experience was thoughtfulness or imagination or wonder or excitement or thrills or dread or sadness or laughter, whatever movies need to deliver experiences, they need to make us feel. And so for me, again, I must- I'm saying other people need to feel this way too. I'm just saying for me, it's all about the experience. It is all about the experience. The movie doesn't make me feel inexperienced. I don't know if the movie was very good, but John did this and this and this, great, but it never made me feel anything. And so yeah, on that level, I'll definitely go experience a thousand times out of a thousand team of good boozles. Good question. All right, next up. Steven Turner writes, "What do you think about Warner Bros. rejecting a Catwoman or Ivy series?" A Catwoman is one of the most mainstream females in comics with her own comics. Disappointed, we never got to explore her beyond meeting Batman. Well, number one, when you say they reject it, you're implying that they had plans to do it and the studio stepped in and said no. And I don't think that ever happened. Look, the reality is you make movies. Movies are art, 100%, but they are also business. Both are true. They are both true at the same time and they have to coexist in this weird symbiotic relationship. They are business and they are art and they are business and they are art. And if the studio simply doesn't believe an audience would run out to see a Catwoman movie, because, remember, they did do a Catwoman movie. They did do a Catwoman movie with an Academy Award winner playing Catwoman. And I'll have to pull it up here. Let me just double check. Let me see what I got here. So when we go back to when they did make a Catwoman movie, that movie made a grand total of $82 million. $82 million is what it made. The reality is nobody would go see a Catwoman movie and nobody would go see a Poison Ivy movie. That's not to say that they're not great characters and they can be used extremely well and be extremely valuable as an ensemble in a Batman movie, 100%. But, I mean, yeah, if I was in an executive office too, like, for instance, I loved Ann Hathaway as Catwoman. Loved her. I just love Ann Hathaway period. But, so would I be down for an Ann Hathaway Catwoman movie? Oh, I'd absolutely be down, 100%. I would go, yay! But, if I worked as an executive at the studio and they asked me, should we make that movie, I'd be like, I'd love to see it, but I don't think we should make it. I mean, that's just the reality of it. So, yeah, there's that too. And all right, guys, that will do it.
