Hello, friends. Welcome to non-toxic environments podcast. This is your host, Andy Pace. I'm starting today's show with an admission. The admission is that, and it shouldn't be a surprise to anybody, I am not an expert in electromagnetic fields. I certainly know enough to guide clients through the process of building new homes or doing remodeling. But if you are someone who has severe sensitivities to electromagnetic fields, I always bring in an expert to help with wiring diagrams or schematics, to help with sussing out problems within a home. These are not my strong suits. I can certainly help with the broad picture of things. So I thought it would be good to bring in an expert to talk about these things. Our blank, in its company Shield Your Body, I've known for several years now. I actually spoke at his online summit this past year and was really impressed with the group of speakers that he put together, the topics and his company overall. I think he really has a strong handle on the issue of electromagnetic fields, but is not over the top with, you know, you've got to do it all, or it's just it's not worth it. So here is our blank with Shield Your Body. Please give us a little bit of background. I mean, this is, you've been doing this for quite a while. You co-authored a book, but what brought you even into this realm? Well, co-authoring the book is what brought me into the book. Yeah, okay. So that the book came out now 12 years ago, which is also, it was the process of writing the book that gave me the idea to start what became Shield Your Body, and Shield Your Body is about 10 years now. I actually know where 11 years ago launched our first product. So the book is called Overpowered, and I co-wrote it with my father, Dr. Martin Blank, who was a professor at Columbia University Medical School for well over 30 years. He had doctorates in biochemistry, and physics. He'd been trained at Columbia and at Cambridge. He was, for lack of a better term, he was a real smarty pants. And in the 1980s, he discovered through a work, through work of one of his colleagues at Columbia, that some some scientific lab test results that were showing that low levels of electromagnetic radiation was biologically active. That is, it had an effect on the body. And he had been trained that that wasn't possible. He had been training his medical students that that wasn't possible. And he thought, this is weird. Let me go over and talk to the scientist about it. And that was Dr. Reba Goodman, and they ended up going on multi-decade collaboration. So there's numerous studies co-authored by both of them. And so at that point, he sort of became, he started down the process of becoming one of the most significant scientists in the realm of EMF health effects. And so when it was around 2011, he was at the end of his career, and he wanted to write a book about what he had learned for normal people. Most of his writings are for other fellow smarty pants. And so he wanted something for normal people. And that's where he asked me for help to communicate to normal people. By that point, I had had a couple of books out and I was on teaching college students and engineering faculty at University of Southern California. And so that I got involved and co-wrote what became overpowered with him. And that was really my boot camp in terms of EMF health effects. And I realized that there was a need to train people and to equip people to use technology more safely because we'll get into what EMF is and so forth. But at the end of the day, it comes from modern technology. And you can't get rid of modern technology. You can't make modern technology that doesn't omit this stuff. And so we need to find safer ways of doing that. A lot of that is behavioral, and some of that is through the strategic use of shielding technology. And so that's where Shield Your Body really focuses on training and informing people about the sources of this stuff, how to use technology more safely, and which types of EMF protection work effectively and how to use them and so forth. Fabulous. And like I said, it was really my honor to be on that summit with you and all the wonderful speakers on that. And so let's start with this at a kind of a high level. So what is EMF or EMR as it's also related to, you know, what is an electromagnetic field or electromagnetic radiation? Where does it come from? Sure. So EMF and EMR, which are the same things as you said, electromagnetic field or radiation, they're just two different names for the same thing. It's a form of energy that's created by the combination of electricity and magnetism. And so when electricity flows, a magnetic field is generated and boom, you have EMF. Now, there's all sorts of different types of EMF and they exist on what we call a spectrum. So the electromagnetic spectrum. And right in the middle of that spectrum is sunlight. Sunlight is the essentially the only form of EMF that all life on earth was exposed to for billions of years until, in shorthand I say until the invention of the light bulb. And so right in the middle, you have sunlight. That's the form of EMF that not only we can survive and tolerate, but that we thrive with and its absence is very harmful to us. And so that's the natural form of electromagnetic fields. Now, if you have EMF with more energy than sunlight, it has so much energy, it can knock electrons loose from the cells in your body, right? So what I'm talking about here are things like x-rays and gamma rays, and they have so much energy, they ionize your cells. And that is incredibly harmful. Everyone knows this. It's not contested at all. And those forms of EMF are called ionizing forms of EMF because they can ionize the cells in your body. Then there's a whole set of different types of EMF with less energy than sunlight. And because they have less energy, they can't ionize. We call these non-ionizing forms of electromagnetic radiation. These are the human made forms of EMF that people are talking about when people like me come on and say, "Hey, watch out about the EMF." That's the stuff we're talking about, the stuff with less energy than visible light. And within that segment of the spectrum, there's actually multiple types. And the two that are most relevant to our conversation today, we have radiofrequency and microwave, which are basically interchangeable names. And those are the forms of EMF that utilize to communicate wirelessly. So obviously, cell phones and Wi-Fi, but also over-the-air television and radio, AM/FM radio, and radar, and so forth. These are all within the radiofrequency microwave range. And then with even less energy, we have what's called extremely low frequency, or ELF. And this is the type of EMF that's emitted by power lines, appliances, and anything that carries or runs on electricity. Okay. So, did I ... Yeah, that's great. Yeah, that's fantastic. As you're talking, I'm developing all these new questions to ask. So, I want to split this up into a couple of different topics. I want to talk about the most frequent exposure we have to electromagnetic fields and then the dangers thereof. So, I think, my clients, when we're designing and building a home, we're talking about, well, how do we wire the house to eliminate or at least reduce EMFs coming from wiring and from appliances? How do we eliminate dirty electricity? And what is dirty electricity? So, why don't we start there? Let's start with that first. I think that's going to be a little shorter conversation than go ahead and do the whole cell radio wave thing. So, wiring a home, we always wire our houses typically with AC, alternating current. And this is where EMFs are an issue. It's not necessarily direct current coming from batteries and so forth. It's alternating current, correct? Correct. And this is an area that I find particularly interesting because direct current does have EMF, but it appears ... And again, I'm not a scientist, but when I talk to scientists like Dr. Paul Harrow at McGill University, who was also presenting at the summit, the EMF from direct current is much safer. It has much less impact on our bodies and our biology. And one of the operating theories is because it is a static field. It is a consistent and constant field rather than a pulsing or alternating form of energy. But whatever the reason, the answer is yes, apparently that is the case where alternating current is really much significantly more harmful than direct current. Okay. And that's important, folks, because of more and more people opting for rooftop solar panels and having batteries in the home to power and so forth. So, we still have to shield ourselves from that and understand that if we do rooftop shoulder, which is a DC down to the battery, then that DC needs to then be converted to AC, correct, to power over appliances. Yes. And that is where getting back to another one of your questions you touched on. That's one of the most significant sources of dirty electricity, which is power inverters. When you invert AC into DC or DC into AC, you are creating a lot of dirty electricity. And so just to give a sort of a, I know we're covering a lot really, that's all right. That's all right. 20,000 foot view of dirty electricity. Alternating current, as we said, it alternates, right? So if you measure it using a tool called an oscilloscope, and it has a screen, you'll see a nice clean sine wave. That is, if you ideally measure electricity coming straight out of the utility, it'll have a nice clean sine wave. And if you measure, and it's not a clean sine wave, right, it has a lot of jumps going on in it, that's dirty. That's what we call dirty electricity. And that's where the term comes from because the line doesn't look clean anymore. It looks dirty. And where do those spikes and aberrations come from? They come from a few different sources, but a big one is these power inverters. And even if you don't have a solar power system on your home, odds are you still have, I'd say at least a half dozen of these inverters in your home, because your laptop power cord has an inverter, your cell phone charger has an inverter, right? Because all these devices run on batteries, and you're taking wall power, which is AC, and converting it into DC. So these are big sources of dirty electricity. Okay. And so what makes dirty electricity so much more potentially dangerous than clean AC? Yeah, I mean, I don't know if we have a fixed answer to that, but I think a reasonable speculation goes back to what we were just talking about between the difference between AC and DC, right? We see is this clean, smooth, consistent form of power. And that is much safer than AC, which fluctuates. And with dirty electricity, you're getting a lot more of that fluctuation. So the spikes are causing more, essentially, it's like a power surge in in minute form, it's causing a projection of that field further than normally go. Yeah, I mean, imagine you're talking to somebody. And normally, it's going like this. But then they start going a lot of them quite a lot of them quite a lot of them. And I mean, a, it's really hard to understand. But B, you would be driven nuts really quickly. And because of that variation, the spiking and surging and ebbing and flowing, it creates real disruption in the way that your body receives the information. Got it. And so I don't want to go too deep into the weeds in this question, because, you know, I know you're not an electrical engineer, you know, drawing schematics for homes every day. However, this comes up quite a bit in a lot of my consultations. In wiring a home, we all understand that, you know, standard wiring standard romance, you know, basically has, you know, let's say it's a two wire. So one wire is bringing the power to the appliance or to the switch and one buyer is basically carrying it back, right? So it's a complete circuit. And dirty electricity can also be caused if that one power goes to several different appliances or switches, and then you have just one return, correct? And so if you don't have a clean return for each, it can cause these spikes as well. Yes. And I'll say, not only am I not an electrical engineer, most people who are electrical engineers or licensed electricians would not have the knowledge to even test for what you're talking about, much less to understand it and to diagnose it and to remediate it. And that's where you need someone who is ideally a certified building biologist. But even then you want this subset of building biologists who've actually been trained in electricity because it is right because as you know, there's building biology and within building biology, EMF is a specialization. Then even within EMF, the issues around electrical wiring and dirty electricity are a specialization of knowledge and skills that a lot of EMF people don't have. And by the way, the same is true in general in the EMF space. So when you talk to people who know a lot about RF shielding, they might not know anything about dirty electricity or about how to approach wiring a home in a more healthy way, even if they know that that's important. I will say short of, because I mean, if you're talking about new construction, that's great. But if you're an existing construction and you get a dirty electricity meter and you see the levels are high, you don't need to necessarily go around and start ripping out drywall and rewiring everything. Because oftentimes it will be unplugging things will will have a direct impact on this. So I'll give you an example because I just had Kathy Cook whom you might know at my house and she did an assessment for me. And she was able to show me because I you know, I get a lot of power out of just where I live. So I have a few things on battery backup. And she was able to show me how much dirty electricity was being created by these battery backups. And so when those aren't needed, they're unplugged. And we used dirty electricity filters, in my case, from saddock, to to help tamp down the dirty electricity. But there were there were give me a second, there was another really. Oh, yeah, an extension cord, I had an extension cord, because my exercise bike doesn't reach the wall. And so I have an extension cord going. And all I had to do was unplug the extension cord and the dirty electricity levels in that room, even when the bike was off, the dirty electricity levels went really down. So a lot of times, you can make a big difference just by unplugging things when they're not in use. So we've heard before that that's just the the phantom energy use of appliances and equipment that are plugged in but not turned on. And I think people talk about it from an energy saving standpoint, but it's very important from an electromagnetic field standpoint. Yeah, yeah. So we were just talking about dirty electricity, but increasingly with smart devices and even by the way, even if you try to avoid buying smart tech, go good luck going out and finding a TV that isn't smart these days. I mean, it's like impossible. And so a lot of times when you think they're off, they're not. And the Wi Fi is still connect communicating. And so that becomes an additional source of radio frequency in your environment that you could just eliminate by totally turning it off. Okay, so and I agree with you regarding, you know, working with a specialist. And I was on the board of directors of the, you know, building biology Institute for a few years. And while I understand it, and I can have a conversation with you and with my clients kind of high level, when it comes to that actual detail, putting together a wiring schematic on how to build your new home, there's a handful of people in this country that I call and that's about it. And so it's a very, very specialized knowledge center that you need for something like this. So let me ask you then the difference between that and then what we get from cell towers and Wi Fi, the difference in the wave. And is this something that we should be probably more concerned of because it's more ubiquitous? Well, so in terms of relative levels of concern, I mean, it's going to be the same answer. Well, I'll give you the same answer that a building biologist gives to every question. It depends. But you know this, right? Because you'll go like it's like saying what's the worst toxin in a home? You know, it depends on the home, you'll walk into one house and you'll see that they had what was it that you were telling me concrete or cement flooring. And so you have the emissions from that or you walk into another house and you see there's a ton of mold. And so which is the worst toxin in general? It all depend. And so the same is true with EMF. You know, if you live under, I mean, it's an extreme example, but if you live under a high voltage power line, that's probably going to be your biggest concern. Whereas if you live in an apartment building and there happens to be a bank of smart meters right outside your apartment, which I talked to people where that is unfortunately the case, you know, it's that bank of smart, you know, 20 or 30 smart meters, that's going to be their biggest source of exposure and concern in terms of the different health effects of the different types of EMF that we're covering here, right? Dirty electricity, ELF and RF. There are differences in the man in disease cluster that result, right? So dirty electricity is linked with things like neurodegenerative disease like Lou Gehrig's disease and Alzheimer's. ELF is also linked with Alzheimer's as well, I'm sorry, not with ALS, but also with leukemia whereas radiofrequency is linked with more forms of like glioblastomas. And so there are, you'll see different clusters of health effects resulting from exposures to these different kinds, but that said, I wouldn't say any one of them is more dangerous or more concerning than the others. It always comes down to reducing your exposure to all of them to the extent that that's in your control. And so if we're talking about the person who lives under a high voltage line, you know, the only thing they can do is move. And if they can't afford to move for whatever reason, then they should think about spending more time away from home and focus on other sources of exposure that they can control. The thing with EMF is one of the characteristics is it's invisible, it's odorless, you can't touch, smell, taste, feel it. And so with certain things, like I say going back to this extreme example again, with the high voltage power line, you can look at it and know I'm probably getting a really high dose from this. Same thing if you're sitting next to your Wi-Fi router, you can guess pretty reasonably that you're getting a pretty high dose of RF off of that thing. When it comes to things like dirty electricity, you won't know unless you measure. When it comes to things like the amount of ELF coming off of the wiring in your home, you won't know until you measure. And so there's certain things you can make very educated guesses about, like the examples I gave. But in general, you won't really know where these exposures are greatest unless you do testing. There's an example I give because I was staying in an Airbnb and I took out one of my meters and I just started measuring and it was all pretty good. And then suddenly in this one part of the house, I was getting incredibly high electric field readings. What is going on here? And it was weird because it was the source ended up not being exactly where I got those high readings, but I traced it back to another. There was a DVD player in the entertainment system. And when I unplugged the DVD player, the electric fields just disappeared. And I didn't have to unplug anything else, just the DVD player. I was like, that is really weird. And it's an example of something I never would have guessed unless I had had a meter there. So the answer to your question of which is most concerning is whatever is the biggest controllable source that you're exposed to? That's a great way to put it. I think that I always have to talk about how there is no perfect situation. You have to kind of play the hand your dealt and reduce reduction of any pollutant, whether it's an air pollutant and electromagnetic field pollutants, a reduction of these things are important. How much you have to reduce or reduce of what really depends on, as you say, what you can and what is most affecting you. So we've heard an awful lot in the last several years about how 3G was bad, how 4G is worse than 3G and how 5G is worse than 4G. I don't necessarily want to go into that conversation because I think that a lot of it is sensationalized because they're basically similar versions of the same thing. So you agree with that? Yeah. It goes back to what I was saying before. 3G and 4G are basically the same thing in terms of frequencies. 5G is getting into new frequencies. As I was saying before, as you look at these different frequency segments on the electromagnetic spectrum, sure, you'll see different clusters of diseases manifesting. But you see disease manifesting in all of them. The key difference between 3G and 4G and 5G is how much we're using this tech because each one's designed to have bigger capacity and bigger speeds, which means we're using them for more. And that means we're getting more, A, if you're transferring more data, there's more EMF. Sure. Even if you're talking about the 3G, two 3G devices, and once transmitting more data, that one has more EMF. But if you're talking about 4G, that's designed to support more data. It's faster. You're going to do more. You'll play Netflix on 4G. You wouldn't do that on 3G. And then with 5G, it's even more so. And so that's where the big difference in those technologies is, from my perspective. It also, because they're better in terms of they have more capacity, you're seeing more and more and more devices support these, right? So 5G isn't just a cell phone technology. There's all sorts of things running on 5G. And so it's magnifying or it growing the number of sources in the environment beyond what's just your cell phone. So that makes a lot of sense to me because somebody who's involved in this industry, I hear these things. I read articles, I hear people giving some really sensationalized opinions about this. But what you just said makes sense, which is it has a much higher capacity. Therefore, we are using it more. And then by definition, it's like saying that the old country road that is 35 miles an hour and you can get 10 cars a day coming past your house, that was bad. But when it's a four lane highway at 75 miles an hour and you get 1000 cars, obviously that's going to be used more and there's more potential for harm. Yeah, I'm going to steal that. Very good. So that just makes sense to me. So all right, so then compare that to, and I kind of know where you're going to go with this, but I want to hear, and everybody wants to hear this, I'm sure, versus radio and television, which we all listen to and watch in our homes. And let's say it's not watching television through 5G, but actually over the airwaves. How is that different and why aren't people concerned about that? Because it's such a, I mean, order, multiple order of magnitude lower set of exposures. Because the TV signal, the amount of data that's being transmitted over these wireless networks is just gargantuan and it is growing rapidly every single year. Whereas the number of TV broadcasts is not. Then you add to that, right? You don't carry your TV around in your pocket all day or hold it up against your head for hours a day. Because with EMF, and this is a key point, which I should have mentioned before, distance really makes a huge, with everything except dirty electricity, which we can get into later. But with ELF and with radio frequency and microwave, distance makes a tremendous difference. And so as you double the distance, you reduce the degree of the exposure by 75%, right? So I don't have my devices here. So you pretend one hand is a cell phone and the other hand is my hand. And they're an inch apart. And if I take that and then move it two inches away, the exposure to my hand has been cut by 75%. And then if I double it again to four inches, it's cut another 75%. And so the power of EMF radiation diminishes exponentially with distance. And so that's why when I use the example, if you don't carry a phone, sorry, you don't carry a TV in your pocket, that's why that's so important. Because when you're carrying it in your pocket, the exposure is tremendous. It's literally the maximum possible dose that the device has to offer. Whereas if you keep a TV six, eight feet away from you 10 feet away from you, the exposures off of that thing are going to be just way, way less. And with TV, right? I mean, there's, I mean, it's been a while since I've actually watched over the air TV, but I'm thinking back, right? I mean, so there's these channels. And so maybe there's four channels in your area. And each one of them is transmitting, right? But with with wireless, like right now I'm in an apartment building. That neighbor is transmitting and that neighbor is transmitting and that neighbor is transmitting and so and of course the TV stations haven't gone away. So this is all additive to what had been in place before. And so that's, I mean, that's the thing. If people could see EMF, they would have a totally different opinion. Oh, for sure. Yeah. Because you wouldn't in a city, especially you wouldn't be able to see much else. Oh my, that's that's a great way to look at it. If you could actually see that what was floating around in the air. I mean, that would be the same with with any pollutant, right? But with with EMF with radio and frequency cell service and whatnot that makes, oh man, I can't, I can't imagine what they would look like in our air. So I guess to just to put a cap on this, the one thing I wanted to ask about was the differences then between all of this and Bluetooth, which is, you know, a lot of devices now, like for instance, my cell phone, I've got a Bluetooth headset. Is that any better or is that essentially just kind of the same thing? So yeah, Bluetooth is essentially the same thing as Wi-Fi, but it's less powerful. Okay. So it uses the same frequencies as Wi-Fi. There's, there's three different types of Bluetooth. There's three different classes of Bluetooth. And so I forget the specific numbers, but one of the classes is designed to communicate over 10 feet, one over, I think 30 feet and one over like a hundred feet. And so obviously the one that's designed to communicate over a hundred feet is the most powerful. But all three of those are less powerful than Wi-Fi. Okay. The thing with Bluetooth is, and with a lot of these Bluetooth devices, like you were just talking about a Bluetooth headset, they're designed to be worn on the body. And this gets back to the thing I was talking about before, where distance is your friend. If you're, if you're wearing it on your body, there's no distance. And so, and especially with headsets, right? Because that's really close to your brain. And it's in a part of the head that has no skull, because the ear canal is hollow. And so the, because the skull is a certain degree of natural shielding. And so, sorry, one other characteristic of the way they're, you know, you don't just put it in and then take it out. A lot of people you see, they'll put it in, obviously for the duration of a phone call, but a lot of them will just keep it in all for hours at a time. And so you're talking about really significant exposures because it's not just the power, it's also the duration. And so yeah, I rarely use anything Bluetooth. And I won't say I never use it, because it can be hard sometimes to find replacements for certain, I use a, I use a little device that helps me practice breathing meditation, which I love. And it requires Bluetooth. So I'll use that, I'll turn Bluetooth on my phone, I'll use it, and then I'll be done and I'll turn Bluetooth off my phone. I also keep the phone away from me when I'm when I'm doing it. So I won't, I don't never, I don't, I won't say that I never use Bluetooth, but I try very hard not to. And you definitely want to make sure it's disabled on your phone when you're not using it. Because when just by going into airplane mode, doesn't automatically disable the Bluetooth. Got it. So utilizing the old fashioned, you know, wired headsets are better or speaker heads and speakerphone. Yeah, there you go. That makes a lot of sense. So thank you for that. All right, so let's get into this a little bit because I know you and your company get a lot and really involved in things like the actual shielding materials, recommending the recommending different types of meters. And it's not always possible to have a local person who knows building biology and knows how to use the equipment, or even has equipment. So you know, what do you recommend if somebody wanted to they have an existing home, they're just looking to sleuth out some things that might make a difference. What would you recommend from a standpoint of let's say a meter to start. Sure. So I have a whole ebook, a free ebook about this with my meter recommendations and then testing guides, and then exposure levels like from the Building Biology Institute, and contextualize all of this. And that's people can just download that from my site. But to answer your question, right, there's there's the best meters cost a lot. Like if you go through the building biology program and get a EMRS specialization, you're going to be spending thousands and thousands of dollars on meters. Now, even once you get down to the consumer grade, the best meter that like that I recommend, which is the safe and sound, that's still like a $400 meter, and their 5g version, I forget offhand, but it's like a $700 meter. Okay. So but those those are the best for radio frequency at the consumer level. Now, for a normal consumer, the two that I tend to recommend are the Tri-Field TF2 and the Cornet ED88T plus, which is very catchy name. And the reason I recommend these is in general, you can find these both of them for under $200. And they're not as going to be as accurate as like the safe and sound that I was just talking about, but that costs over twice as much. But the safe and sound only does radio frequency, right? So you'll spend a lot of money and get a great meter, and you'll only be able to measure radio frequency. Whereas with the Tri-Field and the Cornet, both of these devices allow you to measure radio frequency, low frequency electric and low frequency magnetic. So radio frequency, again, is the kind that you would get from your cell phone or your Wi-Fi and low frequency electric and low frequency magnetic are the two components of ELF that we were just talking about, which is comes off of wiring and appliances and so forth. So for with both of those for under $200, either one of those for under $200, you'll be able to get a really comprehensive view of where the big sources are in your life that you need addressing. So when we are measuring, let's say we're doing a mold testing in the house. And so either it's like a IQ survey or it's actually somebody coming in and doing, you know, capture or dust testing. We'll also talk about the possibility of or like with the dust and with other types of capture, we'll measure the outdoors too. So we have a baseline, right? So you live in the woods. Obviously mold is everywhere. Now we know molds at a certain level outside. So inside of the home, we're basically looking at the difference. And it's a very rudimentary way of seeing this. Yeah, yeah. Does anybody ever test what is naturally occurring from the sun that's coming into the home and then do a... Well, you can't really, I mean, there's, it's really hard in general. It's a great question. And the laughter was at the complexity of it, not that you're welcome. It's a great question. There is essentially no place on earth left, essentially not no place, but essentially no place on earth left that is unexposed to human made forms of electromagnetic radiation to allow for these control measurements that you're talking about there, which is also this, by the way, one of the reasons that epidemiological studies into disease from these exposures is so difficult. Because again, you know, that's the, I'm sure you know this, but for your listeners, that's the type of science that you do to say, oh, does this cause cancer? Because you don't, you don't test that in a lab. You don't bring in 10 humans and give them cancer causing agents and say, which one of you is gonna... So you measure that out in the real world. And in order to measure it out in the real world, you need a control group that doesn't have whatever the exposure to whatever you're testing. And that just doesn't exist. Now, and to get to what I think part of what you're asking is, we're talking trillions of times higher. So walking around a city today, and there's varying estimates, the most conservative I've seen is a trillion. And that's years old. But walking around a city, this is just ambient. This isn't, this isn't like holding a cell phone up to your head next to a Wi-Fi router. This is ambient walking around a city. We're talking trillions of times higher exposure levels than what you would get from the sun. Wow. That is excellent information. Thank you for saying that because... I can get you a link afterwards too. Yeah, I would appreciate that. And anybody who's interested, certainly I can forward it along. I think that, again, we hear that a lot. And so it's, I don't want to say it's from the naysayers, but it comes from a place of, let's just make sure we are expending all this energy and resource and, you know, intelligence, that we're actually able to do something with this. And so if naturally occurring electromagnetic fields was already so high, then what's a little bit more? But saying that it's at, you know, such an exponentially large amount higher makes perfect sense to me. And so... Going back to your country road metaphor, one I use here is like water. And this is one we talk about in overpowered as well. This was a metaphor I got from my dad. But, you know, water is naturally occurring. It is not only not harmful, it is very helpful. You need it to live. But if I threw you into the middle of the Pacific Ocean, you would not suddenly evolve gills in a minute or in a day or ever, and you would drown. And that's because just because a little bit of something is healthy doesn't mean that a whole lot of that same thing is also healthy. I'm glad you mentioned that. I've actually used that in presentations I've made over the last 30 years. You know, water is essential for life. But if I sat and started drinking water, I could die from drinking too much water. I could also die from, you know, trying to breathe underwater. So, I mean, everything in moderation, of course, but if we just get launched into just an absolutely enormous amount of a good thing, it's not going to be a good thing anymore. Yeah, exactly right. All right, so then, now what? So, we've walked around our home, right? We've used one of the meters you're talking about. You've determined that maybe you are about a mile away from a cell tower. I know just from personal experience of walking around, not only with a tri-field meter, but with others who are far more intelligent on the subject than I am, that if I'm walking through a home, it spikes at the windows and it gets lowered around the walls. So, I always tell my clients, obviously, if you're looking at doing some blocking of this, taking consideration that once you do this, you are going to reduce the ability to use your devices in the home. But you know, don't sleep on the things like the windows and make sure that your bedrooms are the most, you know, the safest room in the home. And so, you know, if you were to give us a couple of tips on, let's say we don't have specific situations, specific illnesses that are related to EMF, because I think that's a much more detailed discussion. But if you were to give folks a couple of tips on ways to reduce in our homes, that do make a difference. Yeah, okay. Well, one, you just hit on. Right. So, I'll give the end. We're going back to distance again. But taking these measurements and then keeping your furniture as far away from the high levels as possible. So, you know, I've heard stories from customers and from others in the industry. When someone learned about this issue, they went into their child's room and they took readings and they realized their child's bed was incredibly high. But they moved it to the other side of the room. It was significantly lower. Right. So that's a really good place to start. If you're, is taking these measurements and moving the furniture, another, another common example, by the way, is like living room sofas often, I mean, not often, often enough, they can be like on the other side of the wall from the refrigerator, right? Because the kitchen is behind the couch in effect. And that the refrigerator can be a huge source of EMF. And so if you just move the sofa down, even a couple of feet, you're getting really significant reductions. If you're talking about things and this isn't, well, this is a tip. But like you were saying, if there's spiking levels around windows, you said, yeah, move stuff away from the windows. Great idea. If you're looking to actually block what's coming in through the windows, there are products that you can do use for that. And these are where you really want to hire a specialist because the large scale use of EMF shielding, by which I mean significant chunks of walls or entire walls or entire rooms is complicated. And to do it right, you need someone who's really specialized in it and who has the equipment in order to verify that each change they're making is actually working. And then as you pointed out, not only would that interfere with your, you know, for instance, your cell reception, it also means any sources inside the house will be magnified, right? Because they're being deflected back in. So you really need to talk to a specialist to plan that stuff out. So going back to the focus of your question, which is the changes you can make in the house, taking the measurements and then moving the furniture away from the high levels, unplugging things when they're not in use. I mean, it is, it is when Kathy, I mean, I know this stuff. And then still when Kathy showed it to me, I'm like, Oh my God. And then deenergizing the bedroom at night, if that's an option for you. And what that is, is going into your, your circuit breaker, breaker panel, and just turning off the circuit that goes to your bedroom. And that'll completely deenergize your bedroom, which will significantly reduce the levels. If you have Wi-Fi, turn it off at night, or turn it off whenever you're not using it, but certainly at night, don't sleep with your phone in your bedroom. Or if you do put it into airplane mode. These are all the sorts of things that, that you can be doing to make your home safer. I would also say, because I think you started the question with like, Oh, maybe there's a cell tower nearby or right, those things aren't in your control. And it's just not worth worrying too much. I mean, again, if you can move to a lower EMF, if your lifestyle and budget affords you to move to a lower EMF area, go for it. But if that's not on the table, then don't worry about it. Focus on the things that are in your control, because even if there are like, because I'm in the city right now, I was telling you, and I can look out my window and see five cell towers. I mean, not, not in front of my window, but I can see them. But even if you live in an area like that, a lot of times it's going to be if you have bad cell phone hygiene, it's going to be your own cell phone. That's the thing that that not only you have the most control over, but that is a huge source of your exposures. Because again, going back to the distance issue, if the cell phone is right up against your body for hours at a time, that is a huge source when compared to a cell tower that's 200, 300 feet away. Excellent tips. I mean, really, this is, this is actionable. We all can do this. I know I talked quite a bit about the idea of putting kill switches in bedrooms, you know, similar to what you're saying, turn off the, turn off the power to around the bedroom. And what I've always heard and you can verify for me is because that electromagnetic fields in general can disrupt our REM sleeping cycles. Is that correct? Yes. Yeah. And so it makes sense that people have a harder and harder time getting good night's sleep these days because we're being inundated with more of this. Yes. I mean, I, the sleep issue, I think goes beyond EMF, but EMF is, yeah, because we're in a place, you, you know, we're inundated by all of these toxins. I mean, we're living in this toxic soup. But EMF plays not only a part, it plays a really big part. And it's a part that you have a lot of control over because it's not so easy to refloor your bedroom. But it is to turn off your Wi-Fi network. So your company has, has, I would call it a very innovative company because you're looking at just, you're not just looking at the, the equipment and this real technical stuff. You're looking at things we can do on a daily basis. And what I found really interesting recently is, I'm on your mailing list, of course, and, and you've launched like clothing lines. Yeah. That can block EMF. So tell us a little bit about that. Yeah. So the way, all, all of my products, with the exception of the headsets, which work a little differently, all of my products are based on EMF shielding. And shielding was invented by a scientist called Michael Faraday a couple hundred years ago, which some people might know his name because that's where we get the term Faraday cage. And what he showed is if you weave conductive metals into certain patterns, it can block and deflect EMF radiation in the other direction. And so what we do is we put the shielding materials inside of products. And one of the conductive metals we work with is silver. And we can make a parol. So like hats and scarves and neck gators and underwear, we can make it out of this material that has this shielding built this silver shielding built into it. And so then it deflects the radiation in the other direction. And I want to be clear, it's not like a panacea. Right. So if you put on an EMF shielded baseball cap, your whole body isn't protected. The part of the body that is being covered is is protected. And the but where this comes in handy is out in the real world. Right. So a lot of the stuff we do and talk about, even in this conversation is about things you have control over, right, how you use your cell phone, turning off your Wi Fi at night. This is all stuff you have control over. But when you leave your home and you go out into the world, and there are the cell towers and the Wi Fi networks and the LiDAR cars and all this stuff, you have no control over them. And the only thing you can do to protect yourself against those is to wear EMF shielding apparel. And so that's where the real value of EMF shielding apparel comes from. And we have been making apparel since 2016. And recently, we've launched partnerships with a couple of brands to really increase the amount of EMF shielding clothing that we we are able to offer through our store. So we now have dozens of products. I already mentioned, you know, the baseball cap and the scarf, but we have a maternity belly band. We have an all day jumpsuit. We have ponchos and so forth. There's also ponchos, by the way, are very popular with the people who are more sensitive to to EMF exposure, because it really does cover a very significant part of your body. This is wonderful. I could sit and talk to you all afternoon about this. So but we do have to wrap it up. But let me ask you, and I'll link this in the notes and so forth. And we'll be on the YouTube. But what's the best way to get in touch with you and your company? So the website is shieldyourbody.com. That's shieldyourbodyalloneword.com. FAQs

EMF and EMR are forms of energy created by the combination of electricity and magnetism, existing on a spectrum. They include various types like sunlight, ionizing radiation, and non-ionizing radiation such as radiofrequency and ELF.

Dirty electricity refers to electrical pollution caused by irregularities in alternating current, often from power inverters. It differs from clean AC by having spikes and aberrations that can impact the body's reception of information.

Unplugging devices when not in use, using filters like those from Satic or Saddock, and identifying and addressing sources like power inverters can help reduce dirty electricity levels in a home.

AC is considered more harmful due to its fluctuating nature compared to DC, which is more stable. The pulsing and alternating nature of AC can have a greater impact on the body's biology.

Dirty electricity is linked to neurodegenerative diseases, ELF to conditions like Alzheimer's and leukemia, while RF exposure is associated with forms of cancer like glioblastomas. Reducing exposure to all types is recommended.
