Hey hey, you're listening to the Peroppetable Travel Blogger podcast, helping you transform your blog into a Peroppetable, sustainable, impactful business. I'm your host, Jesse Festa, founder of the blog's Jesse on a journey and epicurean culture. I am a full-time blogger, speaker, and blog coach who has worked with thousands of content creators to help them take their passions full-time and build something they love. And now, I want to help you too. Each episode shares a powerful strategy that, once implemented, can help you grow your blog's traffic, community, and income so you can be your own boss, get paid to be creative, and travel the world. One thing we bloggers never have enough of is time. How are we supposed to create content and grow on so many different platforms with so few hours in a day? The answer is content repurposing. As in strategically reusing your existing content so you can show up everywhere without constantly starting from scratch. And to help, in this episode, I'm going to share a step-by-step strategy for turning one piece of content into 10 plus for more traffic, email subscribers, and income. But first, I'd like to thank today's sponsor for helping to make this episode possible, Travel Payouts, an affiliate platform built specifically for travel bloggers and creators. I'll have a special sign up bonus waiting for you there as well, and learn more about Link Switcher. And while you're there, make sure to also grab access to my free Travel Blogger Resource Library, or if you're in the U.S. or Canada, you can text the word blogger, B-L-O-G-G-E-R-2-1-8-3-3-8-1-8-0-3-4-2, to have it sent to you by text message. Again, you can text the word blogger, to 1-8-3-3-8-1-8-0-3-4-2. Inside you'll snag access to 75 plus resources, from cheat sheets to workbooks to workshops to video tutorials that can help you truly turn your blog into a profitable business, and that includes a content creation and repurposing strategy spreadsheet to pair with today's episode. This spreadsheet is actually something I created in my paid membership, Travel Blog Presbyterity, but I'm gifting it to you as a profitable Travel Blogger podcast listener. Feel free to even pause this episode to go grab those resources. Give back. Then let's dive in to exactly how to repurpose your content step-by-step, starting with step number one, start with a long-form piece of content. In fact, if you want to treat this episode like a workshop, pause this episode again, and go grab your latest blog post, YouTube video, or podcast episode to create a content repurposing plan around. The example I'll be using today is my how to launch a custom itinerary planning service YouTube video. Once you've got that main piece of long-form content ready, it's time to move on to step number two, consider if there is a way to support it with another piece of long-form content. Can you embed a related video into your blog post, which by the way is also great for SEO, especially if you add schema markup, plus it makes your post more engaging, and increases the time a person spends on your site. Another idea, can your video audio become a podcast episode, or can your blog post become the script for a video or podcast? So looking at my own example, my YouTube video about custom itinerary planning became a podcast episode on the same topic. I used that podcast script to quickly create a blog post, and I embedded both the YouTube video and the podcast episode into the blog post. Now a tip here, AI can be very helpful here, and when it comes to repurposing long-form content, I'm personally a big fan of right blogger, an AI-powered platform that helps bloggers create quality content quickly, and includes tools like YouTube video to blog post and blog post to YouTube video script. I've linked it in the show notes with my affiliate link in case you'd like to check it out, though, of course, feel free to use your own preferred AI platform. And just for context, my approach to AI is that it is best used as an assistant, a tool to help you share your unique ideas, not to do all the work for you. Okay, so now that you've got your main and supporting content pieces connected, let's make sure they're also helping you grow your email list and income in step number three. Don't forget your opt-in freebie. Make sure to embed a relevant opt-in freebie into every piece of long-form content you create. You know, at the beginning of this podcast episode, I shared my free travel blogger resource library. That's an opt-in freebie. And if you've listened to this podcast for, you know, any amount of time, you've heard me share that before. I'm always sharing that resource library. I also recommend regularly promoting your opt-in freebies in your social media content. And we'll talk more about that in a little bit. Now, remember, you can link to related blog posts, products, and affiliates right inside your freebie and welcome sequence. That way, it's not just growing your list to promote your opt-in freebie. It's also helping you grow your traffic and income too. So going back to my custom itinerary planning example, within all of the content mentioned so far in the previous steps, I promoted my free travel blogger resource library, which includes a sample itinerary planning client onboarding form. This is the specific resource in my resource library that I promoted across my custom itinerary planning content. Now, one question I often get is how I actually promote a specific resource within this larger resource library, which includes 75 plus resources. So to give some clarity, let me read a specific call to action I put in my related blog post for that itinerary planning topic content. Here is that call to action word for word. It has a little party emoji at the beginning to grab attention and in bold, it says don't forget to grab access to my free travel blogger resource library with a link there. Get access to 75 plus resources that can help turn your blog into a profitable business m-dash, including a sample client intake form you can use to onboard new itinerary planning clients. So you can see how I mention the value of this resource library, hate includes all these different things that are really going to help you grow. And here is one specific thing that is related to the content being shared that I think will be of particular interest to you. Now, another tip, you might be wondering how do you get so many resources like how did you create 75 plus resources. I did not do that all in a day. But I did have the help of AI. Essentially, when I create a piece of long form content afterward, I will feed my AI tool two things, a past cheat sheet to give it a template to work with, and my new content like my video transcript, my blog post, or podcast script. Then I ask it to create a cheat sheet using the new content. This way, I'm still sharing my own unique tips and expertise with my audience, but I'm using AI to help me streamline the content creation process. I know this might be confusing. So for a visual, feel free to grab access to my free travel blogger resource library linked in the show notes, which has loads of cheat sheet you can view as examples. Okay, moving on. Now that your long form content is set up and optimized with your freebies, it's time to share it with the world in step number four, pull tips and clips to share to social media. Instead of sitting down to create social media content from scratch and just sort of staring at this bling screen, use your long form content as the foundation. Going back to our custom itinerary planning YouTube video example, which as a reminder, I also turned into a podcast and blog post by this point. Here are some of the ways I did this. First of all, as I do with all my new content, I immediately shared it to all relevant flip board magazines since flip board prioritizes brand new just published content. I always as soon as it published, I share to flip board. Then I repurposed my tips in multiple ways. First of all, I pulled each main point from the long form content to share as a standalone social media post. This always gets me at least five posts, which I pre-schedule using a tool called Smarter Queue, which also recycles the posts for increased visibility. It'll keep recycling based on a posting plan that I created. I also bolt created and pre-scheduled five plus unique pins using pin generator and I spaced each new pin out by at least seven days to help avoid getting caught in Pinterest spam filter. I also spliced up that YouTube video, my custom itinerary planning YouTube video, I spliced that up into ten plus YouTube shorts in one click using a tool called Taja AI and I created an Instagram carousel titled How To Start Selling Custom Itinerary Planning with a call to action that said, quote, "To make launching an itinerary planning service easier, I've added my custom itinerary client onboarding form to my free travel blogger resource library. Comment #itinerarybelow and I'll DM you the link." That kind of comment a keyword call to action is known as DM marketing or direct message marketing and one of the best tools for it is many chats. It lets you automatically send DMs to anyone who comments a certain word on your post. Of course, you can always direct people to your link and bio, but there are more steps that way, this is going to help you increase conversions, and by the way, my affiliate link in the show notes lets you try their pro plan for 30 days free. Now, when you're setting up these DM automations, I recommend linking to an opt-in freebie rather than just a blog post whenever possible. A blog view is nice, of course, but growing your email list gives you a direct line to your audience, which is way more valuable long term. Now, the next step I'm planning for this content repurposing workflow is I plan to create a real and share it across all of my video-friendly social platforms. You can play around with these two and create multiple versions of the video, such as by sharing a voiceover reel, a POV reel, point of view reel, which just a few clips, or even just one really good clip, and include your many chat CTA in the post. For example, I have this really great shot of me typing on a keyboard next to a pool in Tanzania, and it was sunset, and it's really beautiful. I have shared that clip with travel blogging-related call to actions a few times, and it typically does really well, because it's really beautiful, and it's eye catching, so feel free to play around with different variations of this video content, these reels, these TikToks. And remember, if you create a reel, share it on your other video-friendly platforms too. You really, if you're working hard on a piece of content, make sure as many people as possible are seeing it. Just a quick note actually while we're talking about reels with the many chat thing, many chat doesn't work on all platforms, so what I will do is I will create a reel for Instagram that has that many chat called action at the end, and then I will just change the ending to share that same video on other platforms where many chat won't work, and maybe I'll direct them to a link in bio or something like that. Now I know I just mentioned a lot of different tools. If you are interested, you can find them all in my recommended blogging tools list, many with special discounts or extended free trials linked in the show notes. Now of course, you don't have to use all of them or any of them, but I shared them because I genuinely use and love them for saving me time and energy with this workflow. Okay, so after you've repurposed your content across social media, let's get it in front of your email subscribers in step number five, turn your long form content into an email newsletter. Your newsletter is one of the best ways to drive repeat traffic and build trust with your audience, but I know many bloggers get confused about what to actually write in their newsletters. Luckily, this step can help. Here, your main piece of long form content becomes the foundation for your email. Instead of starting from scratch, repurposed your latest blog post video or podcast into a value driven newsletter with a clear call to action. You can summarize the main takeaways, tease the full post with a link, or turn one section into a quick tip email, and then direct people to click over to the blog post or watch the video or listen to the podcast episode. I'll share a few sample newsletter examples in the show notes to help you visualize what this actually looks like. And tip, you can also reshare your long form content in future newsletters. For instance, I like to include three bonus content links in the PS section of every email to keep recycling older posts and send new traffic their way. Moving on, after you've created your email content, let's analyze your content topics business building potential in step number six, consider the popularity of this topic. You might notice a certain topic resonates especially well with your audience. In this case, it might be worth exploring as an opt-in freebie if you don't have one already, a digital product, a virtual event like a free challenge or webinar, or some other type of income generating action. For example, I ended up doing a custom itinerary planning Q&A live stream on YouTube where I'm currently trying to increase my watch time to get into the YouTube partner program for an additional revenue stream. Also, I send out a survey to my audience to explore the potential of creating a digital product around this topic and I got some great feedback. This is really something that resonates with my community. So I'm thinking about ways that I can really utilize it to help my audience while growing my business. To wrap things up, I'm not saying that creating content across platforms doesn't take time, it absolutely does. But with a content repurposing strategy, you're not showing up empty handed-teach platform, wondering what to post or staring at a blank screen. Instead, you can create and publish content faster and with less stress while growing your traffic, email list, and income. Oh, and one final time saving tip. Instead of starting from scratch with this, grab one of your top blog posts, update it for accuracy, email opt-ins, and affiliate links, and then move through the above steps. You can listen to the episode again to move through them or head to the show notes where I've got each step laid out with visuals and examples.
