A true education will not teach you how to compete, it will teach you how to collaborate, it will not teach you how to fight to get to the first, it will teach you how to be creative, how to be affectionate, how to be virtuous without comparing yourself to others. It will not teach you that you can only be happy if you get to the first, because that is a stupidity. You can't be happy just because you are the first. And when you try to be the first, you will suffer so much that when you get it, you will get used to suffering. When you arrive to the President or Prime Minister of a country, you will have suffered so much that suffering will be your second nature. You don't know another way of living, only suffering. Tension has cornered you, anguish has become your way of life, you don't know another way. So, even if you are the first, you will have anguish, chaos, fear. Your internal quality will not change at all. A true education will not teach you how to be the first. I tell you that you enjoy what you do, not because of the results, but because of the effect itself, like a painter, a dancer or a musician. You can paint in two ways, to compete with other painters because you want to be the best painter in the world. You want to be a Picasso or a Van Gogh. Then your painting will be in second category because your mind does not care about painting itself, it cares that you are the first painter in the world, the best. You don't go deep into the art of painting, you don't enjoy it, you just use it as a burden. You have entered a trip of ego and the problem is that to be a true painter, you have to get rid of your ego completely. To be a true painter, you have to leave the ego aside. Only then can the existence flow through you, only then can you use your hands, your fingers and your brushes as vehicles. Only then can you do something of that magnificent beauty. You do not create the true beauty, but this is created through you. The existence flows, you are only a conduct, you let it happen and nothing else. You do not obstaculate it and nothing else. But if you are too interested in the results, the final results, that you have to make yourself famous, that you have to win the Nobel Prize, that you have to be the best painter in the world, that you have to defeat all the other painters that have existed until now, then you are not interested in painting. Painting is something secondary. And naturally, if you feel a secondary interest in painting, you will not be able to paint anything original, everything will be normal and current. The ego cannot bring anything extraordinary to the world. Extraordinary only occurs with the absence of the ego. And the same happens with the musician, the poet and the dancer. The same happens with the whole world. Says Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, "Do not think at all about the result. It is a message of beauty, transcendence and prodigious truth. Do not think about the results. Do what you are doing with all your being. Get lost in it. Get lost in the act. Do not be. Let your creative energies flow without obstacles. That is why he said to Arjuna, "Do not run away from the war, because I see that that noise is not but a journey of the ego. Your way of talking proves that you are calculating, that you are thinking that running from the war you will become a great saint. Instead of committing yourself to everything, you are taking yourself too seriously, as if when you think that you are not in it, there will be no war." Krishna tells Arjuna, "You must find yourself in a state of letting yourself take. Tell the existence, use me however you want. I am at your disposal, unconditionally at your disposal. Then go through what goes through you, it will be completely authentic. It will have intensity, it will have depth, it will have the effect of the eternal." Jesus says, "Remember that the firsts in this world will be the last ones in the kingdom of the heavens, and that the last ones will be the first ones." You have given the fundamental law. You have given the eternal, indelible law. Do not try to be the first. But remember one thing that can happen because the mind is so astute that it can deform the truth. You can start trying to be the last, but then it turns out that you have not understood anything at all. Then another competition begins. I have to be the last one, and if someone says, "I am the last one," the fight, the conflict and the competition. I know a parable to Sufi. One day, Nadirshah, a great emperor, was praying. It was the first hours of the morning. The sun had not yet come out and it was dark. Nadirshah was about to start another conquest of another country, and naturally he wanted God to bless him for his victory. He said to God, "I am not anyone, just a servant, a servant of your servants. Give me your blessing. I am going to work for you. This victory is yours, but remember that I am not anyone. I am just a servant of your servants." On his side there was a priest helping him in his prayers, acting as a mediator between God and him, and suddenly they heard another voice in the darkness. He was also praying a beggar from the city that said to God, "I am not anyone, just a servant of your servants." The emperor said, "Now you have seen that beggar? He is saying to God that he is not anyone, enough nonsense. Who are you to say that you are not anyone? No one is me, and no one else can affirm that. I am the servant of the servants of God. Who are you to say that you are the servant of his servants?" Do you understand? The competition continues there. The same competition. The same stupidity. Nothing has changed. The same calculation. I have to be the last one. I cannot let anyone be the last one. The mind can continue playing these games if you do not understand things. You are not very intelligent. Never try to be happy at expense of the happiness of another. That is ugly, even inhuman. It is violence in the true meaning of the word. If you think you will be holy for condemning others for sins, your entity is not but a new journey of the ego. If you consider yourself pure for trying to show that others are impure, that is what your saints do without stop. Do not stop to alarm from their entity, from their purity. Go see your saints and look into their eyes. How they censor you. They say that you are all condemned to hell. They condemn you all. Listen to their sermons. All their sermons are condemned. And of course, listen quietly to their condemnation because you know that you have made many mistakes in your life that you have many faults. And they have condemned everything, so that it is impossible for you to think that it can be good. You like food, you are a sinner. Do not get up early in the morning, you are a sinner. Do not get up early in the night, you are a sinner. They have disposed everything in such a way that it is very difficult not to be a sinner. Yes, they are not. They are not sinners. They get up early and get up early in the morning, as they have nothing else to do. They never make mistakes because they do nothing. They are limited to being sat down, little less than dead. But of course, if you do something, how are you going to be a saint? That is why the saint has centuries, renouncing the world and escaping from the world, because being in the world and being a saint seems impossible. In my opinion, unless you are in the world, your sanctity has no value. You have to be in the world and be a saint. You have to define the sanctity in a completely different way. Do not live on the side of others' pleasures, that is the sanctity. Do not destroy the happiness of others, help others to be happy. That is the sanctity. So, create the climate in which everyone can feel a little joy, because if you go in search of happiness, there is something safe, which is that you are not going to achieve it, because happiness is always a derivative, or the direct consequence of a search.
