Hank, a father of three, joins BJ's wholesale club to save money, highlighting the brand's focus on family-friendly savings. BJ's offers a limited-time, $20 membership with fuel savings for six months, positioning itself as a cost-effective choice for households. Meanwhile, the Wagner Group, a private mercenary force funded by Yevgeny Prigozhin, expanded its influence in Ukraine and Africa, operating under Russian military guidance without official recognition. During the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Wagner achieved tactical successes but faced internal conflict with the Russian military leadership. A major rebellion in 2023 saw Prigozhin lead a march on Moscow, prompting Putin to respond with military force and public alarm. The uprising revealed deep divisions within Russia’s elite—between the Ministry of Defense and pro-war paramilitary factions. After the revolt, Wagner was dismantled, its members absorbed into state-controlled units like the national guard and Chechen forces. The Kremlin replaced the group with "Africa Corp," now directly managing operations in Africa. While Wagner’s influence has declined, remnants remain in regions like Burkina Faso, with some operations reportedly still under Prigozhin’s son’s control. This episode underscores both the financial strategies of consumer brands and the complex, shifting dynamics of Russia’s military and political elite.

"How is this in its direction?"
"To understand what happened that day, sit with me in 2014."
"In that year two fundamental events were produced for Russia.
The annual and legal annexation of Crimea and the Estallid of the Donbass war in Ukraine.
In that context, the Wagner group emerged,
a private company of mercenaries founded by Dimitri Utkin,
former coronel of the special forces of the Russian intelligence.
However, its main financier was Eloligarca Jevgeni Prigocin.
Known as the Putin chef, Prigocin forged his nails with the Russian president
thanks to his business of catering with the Kremlin.
Even he was linked to the investment agency of the internet,
the factory of Russian trolls accused of influencing
the United States elections in 2016, which won Donald Trump.
Little by little, Wagner won notoriety in Ukraine,
supporting the Russian military and the militia separatists
pro-Russians in Crimea and the Donbass.
From there, Wagner expanded his network of operations.
Officially, Russia did not recognize his existence,
because the Russian laws were penalized being sold to the ground.
However, in practice, Russian army provided him with ammunition and training.
And it is that Wagner did not only work on his job,
that Moscow could not do openly.
The group became the invisible hand of Russia throughout the world.
In fact, mercenaries served as forces of shock for the Russian army,
which intervened to keep basing Assad in power.
In Africa, Wagner signed security agreements
with political leaders, instead of accessing strategic resources
and promoting the interests of Russia by the continent.
However, Wagner's influence was disparaged
with the initiative of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
During the war, the company was awarded a fundamental piece for Russia,
adding victories like the Battle of Mahmoud,
the most angry of the war, in May of 2023.
From the start of the invasion, tensions between Prigosin and the Russian military coup
had led to an increase.
Wagner's leader criticized then the Minister of Russian Defense, Sergei Soigu,
and the head of the state, Valeriy Gerásimo, for his suggestion of the conflict.
He even accused them of denying ammunition and support to their fighters.
The coup that took place was the order that the Ministry of Defense
to all Russian volunteers in Ukraine to sign contracts with the government,
which led to Wagner's combatants under the control of the army.
After the coup, bombarding one of Wagner's campaigns,
on June 23, a group of fighters of the company
crossed the border of Ukraine and took the city of Rostov-Del-Don in the south of Russia.
From there, Prigosin launched what was called the march of justice towards Moscow.
His tanks and armored vehicles advanced without a single resistance
by the Russian autopists, as if they were military troops.
They crossed regions like Baronies and Lippes,
and stayed only 200 kilometers from the capital.
Prigosin's motivation did not seem to be Putin's fall,
but forced a restoration of the Russian military coup.
However, the quick advance of the mercenaries
forced the Russian president to appear on television.
Visibly nervous, Putin spoke about betraying
and compared the situation with 1917.
When the revolution destroyed the Russian Empire in full First World War.
Moscow was in tension.
The mercenaries approached the capital
and were deployed troops and helicopters.
But then everything ended quickly.
Prigosin, with the alleged mediation of the President of Belarus,
Alexander Lukasenko, accepted to march back
changed from a agreement that they never did public details.
The militants of Wagner were removed
and his leader disappeared temporarily from the public scene.
The rebellion of the Wagner group exposed the tensions
in the military parade of Russia.
The insurrection was not simply a fight between Prigosin and Soygu.
It represented a fight between the different factions
of the Russian elite.
On the one hand, it was the Ministry of Defense.
On the other hand, the "Partido de la Guerra",
formed by the "Aladura del Ejército" and the paramilitaries,
and that defended a greater scale in the war with Ukraine.
In the same way, Wagner's insurrection
exposed the visa of the Russian security.
Since the combatants of the group advanced hundreds of kilometers
without a position, which I interpreted as a "divinity sample" of Putin,
who had never suffered a similar challenge or authority.
After the rebellion, it was informed that Prigosin
had been transferred to Belarus,
where it would allow him to live in exile.
But only two months later, Prigosin,
with other members of the Wagner group,
died in a similar area in circumstances,
suspicious, near Moscow.
And what happened with Wagner? Well, the Kremlin
took care of dismantling it carefully
and redistributing its pieces for the state of defense.
Many of the mercenaries were absorbed by the Russian national guard,
the elite body controlled directly by Putin.
Others joined the Chechen forces,
and in Ukraine, the operations that before Wagner
were assumed by other units under the control of the Ministry of Defense.
In addition, the military transformation of the Kremlin
has been in Africa, since Wagner was fundamental
for the Russian operations in the continent.
After Prigosin's death, Moscow created the name "Africa Corpse".
This new group basically did the same thing as Wagner,
only under direct control of the Russian state.
They have deployed troops in Burkina Faso and Niger,
and are still offering the same package of their regime's survival
to exchange natural resources.
Only in the Central Republic, according to some reports,
Wagner is still operating under something similar to his previous model,
supposedly controlled by Pable, the son of Prigosin,
but there is even the strategic importance of the group
is decreasing.
