[laughing] - Hey, y'all, Dale and I are back in the "Dirty Mo medias" studio for an around a blister heart. We've had a big week and lots to talk about. Let's get started. - First up, what season is it, y'all? Do you know what season we're in? - It's 95 degrees outside, so I'm gonna get summer. - No, well, I was going more for, like, pumpkin spice season. - Oh. - It's officially, like, pumpkin spice season. - Oh, basic [bleep] season. - Roode. Listen, I'm not like a huge pumpkin spice fan. I like a margarita like you. Like, I'm gonna drink one all year anyway. But, I mean, they've been pushing pumpkin spice. Are you excited about your race? - Yeah, I'm leaving at the end of the show to go practice all day. I'm gonna be back tonight and then the race tomorrow. So yeah, I'm looking forward to it. So, Florence Motor Speedway, we race the car store there every year. I usually run this race, I ran it last year. The car store has two classes, pro and late-month stock. I've never raced the pro. - Is this your first time? - It's my first time driving this type of car. - Got it. - And my cousin Tony Jr. has been working on these types of cars for years. He's been managing or general manager of some chassis companies and so forth and well integrated into this type of racing. And I see him every now and then we stay in touch and see him at a race track or just text him and all that and just keep up with each other. And he keeps telling me he's like, "Man, come drive one of my cars!" And so I was with you and I was like, "Man, I've got one race left this year." - Kinda want to do another one. - Kinda getting the itch. My race that I've had planned is in Newport, Tennessee, and it's in October. And I was like, "Flarz is here." I feel like I wanna go and do it and you're like, "Go do it." So I text Jr. and he's like, "I'll figure it out. I'll get something put together." So he put together a car and move some things around on his end schedule wise. So we went and tested Monday. It was 95 degrees and hot and sticky. And there was, it was very uncomfortable. - But. - Hot as Hades is what you said. - That went good. And then we'll test again, practice all of the end. We'll practice with everyone else all of the rest of the teams will be there today. And so we'll kinda have an idea of how decent we are. And I think there's 20 pros entered. And then the late mile stocks. - That's not as many as the other races, right? - Yeah. - The pros fluctuate. Some races will have quite a few. Some races not so much like Anderson last week. So we had a lot of cars crashed at Hickory, a couple of weeks, a couple races ago. So at Anderson, our car count was a little low. But kinda getting back up now. As we're swinging toward the end of the year, we only got about three or four races left in the cars tour season. So we race at Florence this weekend. And I'll be there. I'm gonna run the pro. It's a hundred lap feature right before the late mile stock race. Home Friday night. And you can watch it on flow racing. Or you can actually come in person if you're in the Darlington area for the race weekend and slip on over there. It's only about 10 miles from the Darlington raceway. Connor's illicit in SVG are gonna be racing in the late model stock race and matching red bull cars. So that's super cool. I'm gonna stick around and see what those guys say about the series when they're done. And SVG, what his opinion is, I'm sure he's gonna be quite animated about how these cars drive and what the racing's like. So I'm excited for that. And our traditional competitors, our series is full of personalities, full of hard racers. They'll all be there trying to make their mark and have a good weekend Friday night. So hopefully it goes well. It's usually a big stage for us because a lot of people come from over the speed, from over at Darlington will get a big crowd. A lot of people will be tuning in on flow, obviously because I'll be racing and also because of Connor, Zillett and SVG. So it's a big deal. I'm more nervous, I guess, that we, I'm more nervous about the weekend going well and us presenting well as a series than my own race. - Sure. - So. - But now that you're a car's tour owner, that's part of the deal, so you have to worry about the functionality and the whole thing. - If we have a good weekend's and bad weekends. And when we have a bad weekend, you're kind of like. - It's embarrassing. - Have any people saw that. But when you have a good weekend, you're like, "Damn, I wish more people saw that." So it's. - That's generally how you felt about racing and when you're racing cars too. But I'm excited for you, 'cause it's fun that you were working with Tony Junior again. - That's one thing you're, I think you hit right on it perfectly. I was thinking to say that as I was running my mouth there. The best thing about all this is doing this with Junior again. Me and him haven't raced together in maybe 15 years, 13, 15 years. I think the last time we competed together was when we raced the number three Wrangler car at Daytona. That might have been the last time we raced together. So it's been a long, long time. Since we've went to the track and. Driving a car that he's prepared is pretty special, you know? - Well, you took the girls with you too to sit in your car yesterday. And I thought that was great because I had something to do and I'm like, you gotta take the girls. He's like, all right, I'll just take him to the race shop with me. So they got to hang out in the race shop with Tony Junior and sit in his lap and they were looking at it. They were print 3D snakes and all kinds of stuff on his phone. He's got a big 3D printer at home, but he can do everything from his phone remotely. And so they were talking him into all kinds of things. - Tony Junior is a 3D print and full. He prints all kinds of stuff, draws all kinds of stuff. And so I brought the girls 'cause Amy had that thing to do and I was like, all right, y'all, here's your pen and pad and you're gonna sit in the floor and draw. I'll be work, I'm gonna do 30 minutes of work. I gotta tighten, I gotta shorten up my lap belt just that now they're just get everything kind of dialed in for the car. And Tony Junior sat down and they saw some of his 3D printer photos on his phone and they're like, print 3D printer, you know? They're like, give 'em a print. - Well, they're all into snakes and dragons and all that stuff. Printing phone and it's all just like kind of masculine, scary issue. - They're like, print me a snake. - And they like snakes and dragons and stuff. And Tony, I'm like, hey, you probably can't do that girls. You know, it's printers at home and Tony Junior's like, pick your shirt out. - Yeah, right here. - Boop, boop, boop, okay, it's printing. Here's a camera on my printer at home showing you the thing being printed. I'm like, good Lord. - Dale, were you slightly jealous? - I was, I was like, what's that at? Tell me, tell me, show me. - Tell me everything. - Yeah, teach you how to do this. - Tony Junior's got way more technology than I. - Yeah, he had the girls full attention. - I know, he's got two little boys about the same age. So that's why he's got all these things run and like that. Because I'm sure they're doing the same thing at home. But I thought that was great too. So they got to go enjoy it with you. - And it'll be, it's not just Tony, he said, you know, two beer will be there too. So it's kind of like. - Tony Senior made me there. - It's a total like. - It's a big family. I call it a family reunion. - Yeah. - So I was teasing this with some folks of mine in the industry. And I was like, yep, we've got a big announcement. Two big, two Red Bull athletes are going to join us this weekend. And we've got a big family reunion plan. And it's because that's kind of what the deal is. - Hopefully there's nowhere in the face fights happening. - Yeah. - I say this. - It's been a few of those. - Yeah. I feel less stressed out about it. Because the pro class is our, the pro class is our, that's the one, our late model stock class has 30 entries. Most every weekend, we are full. And it's rather healthy. And it's kind of always been the main focus of the, of the car's tour east. Our pro class is growing really fast. And it's this sort of, you know, young new plant, even though the pros have been around forever. It's this sort of young new thing that we're seeing a lot of growth and we're trying to nurture it and all that. So it, but it's not as stressful where I think the pro is, I think it is the late model stock. The late model stock class is just, I don't know. [BLANK_AUDIO] Such a the rowdy. It's it's hard. Yeah, the pros will be hard to I mean, I looked at the pro entry list There's not not any slouches in there. So yeah, I mean if it wouldn't hard. Why would you I know I know I'm just I'm just I don't know if I'm I mean Harvick's like he Harvick ran our late model stock Why didn't he I'm gonna tell you Harvick ran our late model stock class and then he he hasn't messed with it since and he's Went and done pros and supers and he's trying to grow the West Coast cars tour stuff, which is going fantastic and In conversation I was like, man, we'll run this this pro and he's like man, you're in love. He's like it's it's it's calmer It's easier. It's it's less stressful. It's he's like I that lame off stock stuff You better be doing that shit every week to be decent at it, and you got a focus focus focus studies You know, yeah, look at your line your throttle your data. This that another trying to like squeeze every thousandth of a second out of everything You can do because everybody there is just all over top of each other Not that the pros aren't competitive, but he's like man I just want to show up and jump in and go yeah, and he's like in super supers and pros I feel more confident to be able to just go do that. I don't I don't have the bandwidth to really put Days and days and days of of of preparation into it. So we'll see I think If I enjoy this maybe I do a little bit of a mix of both. Yeah Easier. Yeah, I haven't seen stress that about it. That's for sure I get a little nervous just because I want to be good and I don't want to have a I don't want to join her in them to have a bad experience Yeah, well, I'm bringing the girls to watch you too. I talked down into letting us come yesterday The girls are asking me think diverse ad going worth is gonna go race and I'm like, yeah It's they're like weren't we're gonna just go to the beach house and spend Labor Day weekend at the beach house and Dale's like On the way kind of Florence isn't really on the way, but it's like indirectly on the way I'm like I should just take the girls. I should just surprise him and just go But is that a good idea? I need to at least talk to Kenny. Somebody's gonna tell Dale that we're coming and that if I I should just tell him we're coming So he can wrap his head around it. He gets real Worried with us being there. Well, I don't get worried with you being there It's the it's your approach that I'm worried about. I'm like All right, they're gonna be here any minute is somebody gonna meet like I can't be standing there in the parking lot meeting you Accepting you I want your entry and your way in to be super convenient super easy. I know you're going Going to ask one of you can do it. I'm just saying like I I get nervous that I know I just worry that All right, man. Here she's there. They're they're my way, you know So my saffon go out there. There should be pulling up. I feel like you enjoy the anticipation if this is what I want You to be there and I love seeing y'all y'all bring me back down to earth, you know And so I like the presence of you being there, but it's the I get anxious about Everything whether you're in other things. We're comfortable whether y'all are Comfortable you're gonna be fine. Even if we're uncomfortable. We're gonna be fine. All right speaking of Comfortable I am not comfortable with you using my skillets Yesterday I go to make a roast monitor transition. Right. I'm not comfortable with you in my toolbox and let me hear me out skillets Let's talk skillets. I went to go try to make dinner for my family It's one o'clock in the afternoon. I'm gonna put a pot roast on and I need my cast iron skillet to see it before I stick it in my my instant pot and Like I can't find it anywhere, and I know I haven't used it. I know I think he's been cooking and but he's in the kitchen like do you know my cast iron skillets that and he goes um, I'm like you He goes I may have cooked some liver mush in it when you were gone Whatever day that was I was like, but where is it he goes? It might be downstairs. I was like is it soaking and liver mush slop like is it sitting in the sink just because that's what he does He's just like everything has to soak I'm like Go find it. He's like it's downstairs. I'm not gonna go fix it you go find it and bring it and you've cleaned it like I can't look You know what I mean? So I get a different one out and like do my thing and get it going and it wasn't too bad He cleaned it up pretty easily. It wasn't soaking in water thing goodness Because he wouldn't he doesn't care about the the actual pot itself. I've seen this man ruin Some skillets and pots in the kitchen skillets got to be tough Well, I mean he used to so when I we first started dating and I first moved in he had a walk. Yeah, he loved making Every single time eight it was bell peppers and beef in a walk with a pound of sauce and seasoning in it like a lot Yeah, and so that was his go-to recipe and I watched him make that over and over and over again And then burn the skillet over and over again beyond repair so like Brenda was always bringing in a new What home good home goods walk Was it really good? It was too salty for me to eat, but he was so proud of himself and he ate it. So it's all that mattered. He was taking care of himself So Fast forward I move in he's still walking And then I start taking over in the kitchen. Shout out to the walkers out there on the walk No walk is no walk is tough enough for Dale and hard junior Then there are no walks that can stand up. It's such the walk is awesome because You know when you cook in a pan And you get a little you know you're you're Stir in or moves around it flies all over the place and it flies it And it's he acts like he's aobachi chef and he's like toss it all over the stove And he's clanking his metal thing in there. But if you go it got a walk man That didn't go anywhere and it stays down in there and it cooks centrally in the middle of the well, I mean the walk is it's actually a walk is a great tool He's winning we over but speaking of being a tool like it's winning He used to do that so much that like and also this is the other thing he doesn't understand You can't use a metal fork or anything metal with a coated pan He was always doing that some of those walks were coming all of us are learning I can see the all the men in the room. Will you scratch the lining and no I'm really okay noted. No, it's yeah, it scratches the lining and then eventually You've damaged your pan the linings chipping yeah, so the last time he used to walk He was cooking chicken in it And I can you should you should be charging for this knowledge You should have like you should have like focus you should get like Hot you know, you could have like a big class. This is free. Please Everybody listen for bachelors. Don't use your fork You can just do it unless it's a cast iron. Here's a couple of rules No In your coated pans all right, that's a big one today. That's what we're gonna focus on today And Adrian has to be on the fringes of the kitchen. He's not allowed to take care of your coated pans So the last time he used his walk he's cooking chicken in it. I come in. I'm like Wow, that's a lot of pepper on there. He's like I didn't put any pepper on it Well, he had shipped away all the temp onlineing on his fucking food And I was like okay, you're officially evicted this kitchen is now mine get out because you can't eat that And he was like oh man, that was my last chicken breast. Now what am I gonna eat? I'm like soup get out Get out of here. Yeah, it was The beginning of the end of him cooking But that's why I get so frustrated when he stills my stuff dude because he's gonna ruin it. He's gonna. I gotta tell you so The liver mush cooking day Y'all went somewhere you and the girls y'all were going somewhere So it's just me at the house by myself. Where do we go? I don't know It was just last week. Wait was it when Amy was in Key West. Yes. Yes. I had the girl. Oh and the girls were at Tami's the girls were at Tami's They were having a sleep over. That's right. So you So you it was like third second or third day of your trip That was the first day or tame. Okay. Well Tami and then Tami The girls go to Tami's around 4 p.m. And so I was like Woo-hoo. I had the beer cold downstairs music blasts cooking. Oh, that's right liver mush. I was having liver mush for dinner. Oh man Had a I had to add all the sports on all the TVs Did you dance around your underwear that would have been due and they're by themselves. I will just listen to the music loud I wore very comfortable pants And a hoodie Probably he used to sit downstairs. He he claims he gets so cold drinking beer that he needs an extra jacket So he used to have one of those It's not what is the thing the big hoodie thing. It was like a gimmick used to see it on an official. Oh like a um You know what I'm talking about oh, why can't it look like a giant blanket that's got the arms? Yeah, a snuggie He used to sit downstairs in a snuggie and drink beer. It's a snuggie, but it's just a hoodie It's not like the the whole the whole road. It goes down to his knees. It's pretty. It's pretty good. What I learned though I think Dale just because it goes to many I guess they'll just get it's cold period. Yeah, I do Do it's 90 it's in a hoodie right now It's 90 degrees. He got the hoodie in the store because he's cold again It's 90 degrees outside you walk into this room. It's just uncomfortable how chilly it is What I think it's perfect. I mean, it's you got a hoodie on This is a light where I could take it off and come wearing a hoodie. I also shorts on This man was made for heat hot race cars all the season. I've made a list of race cars forever Yeah, I get it. You get caught. You see But I just wanted to like That is my toolbox. Those are my things. That is how I could for you If I went to the toolbox in the garage and got a hammer out and used it and then like left it in the yard It would be very frustrating and upsetting right like if I used your tools and then put them back Like left it out in the rain for the rest Don't you dare start making things up You know what Amy knows exactly where they were. I went into no survive Well, let me finish. Let me counter. I knew you were gonna just make you were just gonna do this. I know he brought it up I go into the garage about two three weeks ago and Amy has Amy has wanted to hang something so she's got the box of nails We have the little little two box of or this is at the beach house, by the way. No, no, this is home. No, please let me finish I'm I'm this is what happened On the counter in the garage is our little Tackle box of nails and then there's a body hammer so that's the only one I use. I know it. I think it or outer there's a body hammer at my house and We have regular hammers. We have all the hammers and Amy loves using the body hammer like for a race car bodies. She loves using the body hammer to hang stuff There's a story about that hammer by the way, okay going so but it it's the box of Nails and the hammer are laying on the counter like you would you either plan to use it and hadn't used it yet or you would use it And that's where I probably was planning to go upstairs and hang all the things on the wall for the girls Like I asked you the other day. I need your help hanging these things Yeah, that's probably what I was gonna do. Yeah, but I generally put it all back exactly where it was for sure I grew up with a dad that made that very clear. You put it right back. What's the story on the hammer? So when I first moved to North Carolina and I was doing interior design still I needed a hammer I was going somewhere to like install paint paint pictures. Maybe it's bad case. I can't remember and I had not had a chance yet to like go get a tool set or whatever to do all that so you gave me the dent good a router as My interior design tool so I was walking her walking around installing installing things in people's homes for interior decorating with a body hammer And with a racing so I assume that that's mine ever since like that's my dinner get a router That's why you have it like so like we have all the other hammers and she still uses that one like what she get She bypasses all the other hammers and gets the body hammer Just continue to it works. Yeah, it must it's mine. You must like it. How is Dale with knives? It puts them all in the dishwasher. That's another thing that drives me absolutely bonkers I cannot get my good knives to like get wiped and cleaned hand washed and then like put back He does that with the steak knives too. I'm like Dale, please and there wouldn't handles like you're not supposed to any of that stuff in the dishwasher And he's always like you know how they make this with high heat dirt dirt dirt I'm like that's how they get rusted is in the dishwasher. This would be and this would be blessing number two less than number two in the class of Things you need to know he I still can't get him to stop doing that Can we work on this Dale? No, he's not gonna work on it. Can I work on it? Yeah, like get better at it. Yeah, what do you mean? Yeah, like not put the knives in the dishwasher. Oh, I'm I don't know where we know you're aware, but can we work on this? Winds a lot. I mean, I'm not done it lately. I used to do it. I don't do it anymore teacher Fail and you don't have to do you don't have to lie for the sake of the show No, I'm not like you are I'm gonna take please There's only one thing in the sink right now in the sink. Yeah. Yeah, not in the dishwasher But you can't you got to clean it off You can't let soap there in the water. No or like there's no water all the food bits on it. That's where the rust spots happen Where the food sits on it. Just clean it. She's right. I mean, I'm not I did I've not used it as the damn knife You haven't used a knife the one that's if there's one laying in a sink. I didn't use it Honey, you used it for cutting up your steak. You made some roast the other night Never cut the roast. I I clean my knives, but when you use a knife, you don't That's the boy. Okay, and then they used to go in the dishwasher They still sometimes sneak in there somehow that all the knives the big knives get in there, too He doesn't give a shit about my toolbox Respect the toolbox. Respect the toolbox. That dang it. All right, y'all Let's talk about what not why calls that's important. You want to be lifted back up? No I think we need to just get it in the show. Oh, well, I'm all what not y'all I started what not I Don't know. Oh, yes, I do so I follow this lead on Instagram. She sells Consignment really nice handbags. It's a fun follow just to even see what she can find because they're just pretty in fun To look at but she started a what-not page which led me to what not because We're sitting on the couch. I wanted to see what what it looked like. We're sitting on the couch always on what yeah, we're sitting on the couch and Every you know, if we're sitting on the couch at home Probably every 15 minutes or less. I'll go over day and go what you doing and so you know We're just sitting there watching TV and sounds whatever and periodically on and off our phones I'll just be like what you doing and she go and she says I'm starting a what not account and I was like The Hill for real. I thought she was joking. I thought she's been a smartest and Wish would have been far further. Yeah, she was like no, I really am and I'm like Why and she's like well, she knows she's telling me about this this lady with the purse and I'm like Well shoot just use mine just use just signing to mine and you can you can use mine and I can use mine Wanted to stop my sign-up process. He's like you could just log into mine on your phone that way You don't have to do all this setup stuff and then we can just share one. Yeah And I was like well then aren't you gonna see all the girly things that I'm liking kind of pop into your feed and he's like Yeah, but then I maybe I would get some ideas and I was like I don't know And he was like yeah, just get online by whatever you want right like this sounds just like a bad idea Yeah eventually he came he just kind of thought about it for a second. He's like you're right Let's just do your own accounts. I don't need these suggestions Purses and such so I didn't know that like that was like a thing so right so you can sign my handbags Yeah, no everything what's on what not he thought it was just sports cards. It's so much. There's you can buy just about anything Yeah, I didn't know that yeah, so Amy Is sitting there. This is awesome for me because I got on what not probably maybe you don't know two three months ago and It's dicting it's just you know you you'll fire it up and there's always somebody on their selling So for me baseball cards or sports cards There's always someone on their selling Vintage cards, which is what I like I'm not I don't know enough of that the modern cards to really know what I'm buying So I know the vintage stuff really well and I can I can price it pretty quickly So I go on there. I'm like oh hell yeah, I absolutely need that second year Lawrence Taylor You know Okay, I can get that it's with worth nine bucks. Okay, this guy six bucks. You got it man. I'll take that It's I got a deal look at me. I just I just made three dollars Yeah, Dale likes to justify all of his things no matter what it is yeah, and so you can fire a thing up any time of the day And get some satisfaction on there and gets you know, you get that little that little boost Dale and I can find something we might need to take home in any store we go into yes, but not dangerous for people like us And so I'm sitting there and I know what the what not experiences like for the You know and when you're sitting there watching some of my sales stuff and so to sit there and watch Amy open that app for the first time And see those girls in there going Here's your bag And they're just talking and talking about this bag and their bags all are in the background He was hyper and over my shoulder like asking to see that one that one you you just showed me I was like I don't want that. I just was telling you. I tagged it just to see how this work I'm just trying to see how this process works. Amy's like I like this bag and I think you know It's worth this and maybe you know if I can get it at a deal I'm like well ask them to show it to you. All you got to just ask them. They're really nice. All these people are really nice. Yeah So I was like they can see my I was like no, I don't want to be in the front of the class like leave me alone. I just leave me alone So if you if you so in most auctions You'll turn it on and then the background is a lot of the high-end So a lot of they're a little bit of a tease right you know like hey man stick around and we're gonna sell these And so if you see something like hey man that I like that Nolan Ryan you can type it in How about the Nolan Ryan? Let's take a look at it and tip or Let's you know or can we bid on it or whatever you want to ask them and people they're nice they'll go We're gonna run that one later or Hell yeah, man here take a look here's the Nolan take a look what you think about that all right. They'll either say hey We're running it later or sure we'll run it now and I was like ask them to show you that person. That's the one you want as well. It was my first time I didn't want to like and she was like I don't want to do that. I don't want to know just trying to learn Yeah, I can't see you they don't know you're here after the thing was over what what I think is fun too about Like they're showing you all the things and then when they actually put it up there you have like 20 seconds That's it and that right like every auction is handled different some people might put yeah Some people put up like long two three-minute Timers sometimes it's a 10-second timer and if you bid it resets to 10 seconds So like every time somebody bid it's resets. Okay, so you can't really come in and snipe in the last second There are sudden death where they set the timer and it runs out So everybody's swiping as fast as they can well you can also set in your max bid and it'll Automatically do that stuff for you or you could on this one unless somebody yeah you can But if it goes over right, you know then you got to pay attention Well, I ended up buying a necklace Yeah, he was like did you buy anything did you buy the purse? I was like no, I didn't buy the purse I was just looking at the purse, but I bought a necklace So you take he was excited about you being on what not and the first purchase is something that we know he doesn't want Yeah, I'm gonna wear it next week. So my Instagram is 12 hours this week. - That's not shocking. - Messages is also 12 hours. Safari is three hours. I'm one hour on Google. I've been on Zara quite a bit. - What not is four hours? - What about Twitter? - Twitter is 12 hours. - Same as my Instagram. - That tracks. - Yep. It's not even in here. It's like way further down. - Okay, so you're still in the infancy? - Yeah. I'm trying to keep it reeled in. I'm not going to spend, I mean, I'm not going to be on there just buying it right away. I feel like when you buy expensive things too, 'cause what I'm following is, or what I've gone on there to look at. - With football. - Oh yeah, it's going up. - Oh, speaking of football. Can we talk about my football thing? - Let's do it. - Yeah. - We had a draft this week. We have been talking about it and talking about it and talking about it for fantasy football. I have an all girls group. That's basically who I went on my trip with. It's like my core group of friends. It was supposed to be Tuesday night at seven o'clock. Why pick up both of the girls at 6'30? He's off-racing and testing his car. So I picked the girls up. I'm like, I have just enough time to get home and launch my draft. No problem. It was one of those days that I was just like, the Energizer Bunny. I had done so many different chores and I get home and I start slinging food, putting the girls to bed, doing all the things. I'm sitting on the couch, it's 10'30. But before I even get to the couch, I get home and I'm talking to Dale in the kitchen. I have 174 mistext messages only in my fantasy football group chat. And I look at Dale and I'm like, I have 174 text messages from my fantasy football league girls and I put just my phone and I was like, I can't catch up. And so I just kept moving. - The light bulb didn't come off. - Didn't think about it at all. Finally get the girls down at 8'30. I sit down on the couch and watch in TV. Dale has gotten a love letter from TJ to get up and play video games. So he has left the room. - Dale got by me. - And I'm like, oh my God, I missed my draft. That's what all the text messages were about. That's what all the funny comments are like, well you got an A, there's comments in there of like, Amy got an A, Amy got an A. I'm like, I don't know what they're talking about but I don't have time right now to figure it out. That's what it was. My auto draft did really well, but I missed my damn draft. I'm seeing a pattern of you just not showing up to hang out with your friends. (laughing) - That's pretty good. - Oh, sorry, Travis, he's talking about himself. - Yeah, I know. - That wasn't my follow, it wasn't my birthday. Listen, I missed my draft. I was so mad about it. It was like that moment in like home alone when she realizes that Kevin wasn't on the plane. I was like, so mad at myself. I even went in there and interrupted his video games and I'm like, the text messages wrote about my draft. I can't believe it. And this were draft. And he was like, okay, everybody can hear you. - Yeah. I'm playing Hill at Los, and everybody's like, who's that? What's that? Draft, where is it? (laughing) No, no. - Just my wife, just never mind. - All of my buddies were disarray. - No, were you gonna blind draft anyways or did you actually do some homework? - I hadn't done any homework but I've done a pretty good job not doing the homework anyway. You just use the rankings and I mean, we're all pretty professional at it, is you're 14 now. - I'm gonna. - We've been doing it for a while. - I'm gonna talk to Chad. - And we don't auto-draft. I think we did that one year because everybody had, like half of us had little children and it was just too much. And we all hated it. 'Cause we like the competition and we like talking shit to each other. We used to get in a room with our laptops, laptops. - We could do it together. - We kicked the guy out of our league this year 'cause he keeps auto-drafting every year. - Oh really? Yeah. - And we feel like if you auto-draft, you shouldn't-- - Then you don't care. - You shouldn't, well no, I feel like if you auto-draft, you shouldn't enjoy the rewards, like even if you win. - Yeah, 'cause you didn't try out, we got lucky. - So like if you finish second, it's 50 bucks. Like that goes to the third place guy. - So you just like note that at the beginning? - You could. You say girls, I'm sorry. If I do well, maybe I forego 50% of my reward-- - Yeah, so we do winner take-sol, so it really doesn't matter. I mean, the chances of me winning are pretty low. But anyway, I was just super frustrated. - Not really if you auto-drafted, it actually gives you a good change. - I got an A for last year. - The more you-- - The more-- - The first round picked the bed, the first weeks. - I know, I'm just saying it like-- - The more you metal in your draft, at least my experience, the more you metal in it, the less chance you have to win. Like the auto-draft guy in our league was always good. - Yeah. We'll see. - And it's like God dang. And you would see his team and you'd be like, man, I don't like those picks, but that's what the auto-draft, and chose, and then goes out and he makes the playoffs and battles for the overall title. - Well, I'm looking forward to football season. I'm looking forward for it to get cooler outside, for layering, for sweaters, for football, all the things, for being excited. - I'm excited. - It's gonna be fun. We like to get together and watch. - We do, we get our jerseys on and stuff in the house when the commanders are playing. And we're home, we turn it on and get all fired up. - Yep. - When is your draft? - Next Tuesday. - Yeah. - The Tar Heels beat TCU for their home opener. They weren't home, they were in Dublin. But that was cool. They got embarrassed last year. And everybody's like predicting the downfall of the Tar Heels because of Belicec, but they won. So that was cool. They go play East Tennessee next. So that might be another victory before they go to Clemson and have a hell of a time trying to beat them. So I like college footballs back. So we can do some sports betting. - I can't, so he's already started doing that. - Yeah, I can't bet on racing. So I have to find other outlets to sports bet. And hold on though, we have a guest. - Ooh. (beep) Hey, Clemson. - Damn, what a surprise. What's he doing? - He's putting a suit on, he's dressing up. Oh, you've, you've altered it. - He's got his vest. - Now that. - Oh, it's sleeveless jacket. - It's supersonic. - That's hilarious. - Tuxedo, sleeveless Tuxedo. - Oh, I love that. - Yep, yep. - I don't wanna be on a dress. - What you got going on? - He's never gonna let that go. (laughing) When I opened the social media, I did not expect to be getting blasted for wearing a clearest shirt at epic chop-outs. - I thought it was a compliment. I didn't think I was blasting out. - Do you think you were connected? - I was complimenting his-- - You said I was several levels under-dressed. - Yeah, but at the end, I said, they don't give a s**t, they're just themselves. - It actually, I think it made me cooler. - It did. You were already cooler. - But still, I had to like, you know, I had to rebuttal. - I flew to a helicopter yesterday. - Stop it. - Yeah, the big one. - We need a link posted where we can buy that. - I'm surprised Amy didn't take-- - Oh, my, okay, cool. - You're a helicopter. - Yeah, the one you gave me. - I stood out and drive away. I'm surprised Amy didn't take a picture of me standing out there in my socks. - I didn't see you. - Did you do good? - I crashed into a cup of time, but that was 'cause I tried to fly the big one in the garage. - He told you you couldn't do that inside. - It's too big to that. - Did it break? - Nope. - No. - Took it out. So I watched the guys get in the car with him. And he had the car full. And he takes off and he's drifted and turned and said, I didn't know what they were going to do. I thought they were just going to run some laps pretty fast. And I was like, holy smokes, let them go. And Dale was riding shotgun. And you know, he's a race car driver. Being in another race car driver's car, doing all that. Like, it's got to be rather uncomfortable. Like, you're not in control, you know what I mean. So I was like, blown away by the whole thing and then they get back in and he's like, you need to get in the car now. I was like, nope. And he's like, oh yeah, you're getting in the car who doing this. And Dale's like, you can't come all the way here to the freedom factory and not get in the car. And I was like, well, okay, you make it a point. And so I held it up and I get in and I had the time of my life. I was screaming, y'all who the whole day in time. Yeah. It was so fun. And we didn't even crash. We didn't crash. We didn't even barely run the wall. He was very safe. He turned on the sirens, which I didn't know the car had. And I thought it was Amy, but it was actually the sirens. Well, I was screaming inside the car. And I couldn't hear the sirens. There's like a blend of Amy and sirens at one point. We got the perfect. I thought Dale was going to be more like, oh, let me just watch. So when you threw on the helmet, I was pretty pumped. But then when he said, Amy's got a ride. I felt like I got like a van Boozle. I felt like I got knighted, you know, like, Dale was like, he's like, you take Amy on this ride. There's like, I got knighted as a race car. You got. That's hilarious. Cool. Cool points for turning the car around and putting Amy off on the other side of the wall. So like when we were doing it, you had me on the wall side. Is that why you did that? It's called the precious cargo route. Well, you kept saying that I'm like, I don't really understand. what he was talking about when we went out there and he turned and was going to go around the track backwards. I was like, everybody in the comments is like, what a gentleman. Understand this, but okay. I know. I earned a lot of. He did. Round of points. He did. Well, I appreciate it. It was a lot of fun. Yeah, you know, because it's like if you lose the engine or something, you end up laying into the wall on the side that, you know, you're up again. So I figured with Dale being there, I'm like, oh, he'd probably brush it off, but you know, when I take the ladies for rides, I try to try to be a gentleman. What was really impressive or surprising was just what he did with me and Amy goes through a set of tires. Like they have to change rear tires after just what you saw on the show. Which is like five minutes of fun. Yeah, it's like five minutes and you've burnt through 30,000 miles of tire. I feel like it's also part of the reason I solo spin a lot. I'm always kind of looking for that little step out. Yeah. And maybe I'm a little too comfortable in that zone. And that's why my rear rights or right rear don't really last as long. Yeah, you're a wild man. You like I've just said that to you the other day. Like you have no fear. Which is great. Well, it's not scary once you do it, you know, what you do it. Yeah, I want to teach Dale to do it. I won't learn how to do it. I think you'll pick it up like that. And then I mean, my goal is when you come to town is to get you to rip the big bank, you know, what does that mean with the big bank? Where we going? Do what we were. Because you learn on the little bank inside. Yeah. If you rip the big bank, it's like you graduate. Yeah. Which I think, you know, what could possibly go wrong? There you go. I mean, we're when we'll have to get back out there and I think I definitely, I definitely I will be back at the Freedom Factory sometime within the next 12 months. And during those during that trip, I expect to get an opportunity to be tall how to do it. I've tried to do it before and I've not been very successful. Like we did. We had a little session. We had a little session in the infield at Charlemur Speedway years ago. Yeah. But it was in production cars and they got all these little they got all these little buttons. You got to mash to turn everything off and traction control and all this stuff and it's too fancy. You know, turbo. I think what people would even more rather see is Amy race the mom pre. Yes, we need that. The pressure is, hey, she got it. You guys didn't bring in the heaters today. I mean, Amy, we let me tell you that. I did race one time and it was Dale's 40th year. So it's been a little minute. But they had the better half-dash at Charlotte every year and Dale talks me into doing the better half-dash. We go to the practices. We get set up qualifying is on his birthday party day, which he didn't know about. It was a surprise. So I miss qualifying and started in the back and joined the fish wreck me in the first lap. And I was so mad about it. I was like, I'm never doing this again. Now you need redemption. And plus at ours, you know, all the husbands are the crew chiefs. The crew chiefs. Obviously. And we are also the announcers for the race and we're in charge of the beverages. Oh my gosh. We, you know, we we manage a lot while you girls just have fun. We're completely switching roles is what you're saying. You're doing all the multi-tasking and the girls are in the car. The gentlemen do the qualifying too. Oh, put the lap down. That's fun. So your husband can really set you up for success. That's what I'm saying. We're going to do it anyway. I'll get you some dates. I'll get you in touch with my people. My people call your people. But they are a ripping good time. And it's quite the production. I didn't realize how much they had going on until I got down there. Amy, think if you did the mom pre, you could kind of act like Dale. When he raced and like, you'd like, Dale, I need you to be here with me. You can't do anything. If I'm not doing anything, I got to focus. Like it could be your chance to show him what it looks like to show him the mirror. Yeah. Oh my gosh. Oh my god. I would have to take some notes and really prepare and like get into character and the whole thing. You get your cool fire suit. That sounds awesome. I want one that looks like evil carnival. Okay. Yeah. Very patriotic. Yeah. Can I have a cape? Yeah. That's your face. It's my face. My hot body. I can do with it. What about? I think it'd be pretty neat if she did this. When is that? I don't know. I've heard about it in these days. I'm already nervous. Can you see? Like I know. I know you are going to be a nervous wreck. You're the one that gets to race and be nervous. I just come to support. I know. I get it now. Yeah. I was so embarrassed when I did that better half dash thing and mad. I'm like. She was. I was so good. We went and practiced all day and she did really, really good at the practices, having never erased anything in her life. She was like relatively good and I was like, all right, you're going to have fun. And I had TJ in my ear. He was spotted. Oh Jesus. There was a little bump up lap one and it broke her suspension. So she was just like it broke her. She was out. Yeah. She cars broken and she was out. And I was like, wow, that was and we had stood around. Remember us standing around at the media center by your car like waiting for all this. It's such a production. Build up, you know, finally we're going to do it. I was so excited. I got Ulta to sponsor me. So I had an Ulta race suit. You did. It was fun. It was. We have the roof from her car. Yeah, it's in the treehouse. In the treehouse. Mounted on the wall. Yeah. Number 82, her birth year. Yeah. They wanted me to be 88 and I was like, I don't know. I guess I should, but I don't know. You were you. Yeah. Good to you. That was. That was why that was what made me think it was okay to put the number 82 on her actual car, her streetcar. Is that what that was from? Maybe. Yeah. That was a bad choice. Yeah. He strapped me down though in that first practice and also never racing anything means I've never been strapped into a car like that before. Amanda Leros like climbing into a tunnel. Yeah. It's tight. And I don't like tight. And I didn't realize how much I didn't like that kind of thing until I got strapped in. So we had a gentleman that was helping us with a car, which was the most embarrassing part. And then Dale strapped my shoulder straps in and I literally could not wiggle at a Hans device on so my head I couldn't move my head and I lost it. Do you remember that? Yes. Oh, I will never forget Dale just looks at me and I'm like screaming get me out of here. Get me out. Get me out. Get me out. Get me out. And I had to scream louder for him to take me seriously. The point where I was like, dude. I know. And I got out and I stood there for a minute. I was like, whoa, that was way more than I expected. Getting her in there was tough. Getting inside it, getting in a car, buckling up, buckling, getting tight and everything done is is a production for anybody. So she'd never done it. So we get her all down in there and everything and I tighten the belts and I get ready to shut the roof and she goes, give me out, give me out. And I'm like, did I hear that right? She's like, get me out. Get me out. I want out. I want out. And I'm like, looking at their both just looking at me, like looking at the guy looking at her and I'm like, surely this is going to surely this is going to crazy. Do I have to act for you to get me out of this cause I was like, this is going to pass any second. She's going to calm down any second. And she's like, nope, I want out. I'm like, okay, let's get out. And I thought we were done done. Like she's like, I ain't doing this. I don't like that. I don't like being strapped in like that. And I thought we were like, not racing. So she gets out. She stands there a minute. She takes a company breath. I was like, and we talked a little bit about it. And she's like, okay, I'm going to get back in there. I'm going to get back in there. And so she like muscled up the energy to or the minimal fortitude to get back in. At least I knew what to expect then. She wrapped her down in there tight and she was fine. She goes out there and there was another guy that she followed. And he's a racer that runs Ben Larry's every week. And he was great. He kind of dialed the speed back a little bit so she kind of follow him and get the line and understand it. And then her lap times got relatively decent. By the end of the day, and we were like, I think we're good to go. Yeah. Yeah. Run that backwards on like pit road up around the front part of the racetrack. And the racetrack part's really fun. But running up pit road backwards, you're like, it's so rough in your eyeballs or bounds and all over the place. It's like, this is something but experience check. Yeah. Yeah. She did it. This might be pretty enjoyable. I mean, we'll see. We'll look into it. We'll have to talk about it. They've done it before. We can go on the internet and watch with our last race. That would be fun. So TJ's love letter. Let's talk about that just for a quick second. So Dale gets up to go turn on his computer. He comes back in. He's like, my friend said that they sent you something on your phone. At first, I was we sitting on the couch. I haven't played. Hell, it loosened a long time and they got a new version. The game that came out and all my buddies were talking about it. I was going to get into it. I haven't raced on my rig in a while. I just haven't had time to do any of that. And I'm sitting there that night and I've been thinking about trying to get in there and play. And they're my guys, my buddies are telling me they're going to play that night. So I'm like, Amy, the guys wondering if I can play some video games. She's like, yeah, go. I'm like, be sure. Yeah. We're just sitting there on the cash line. there's nothing happening, I'm gonna go do that. So I go in there and I sit down and turn it all on, and they're all in there laughing. And they're like, "Haha, did. " - Like giggling, you know how they always do and they're. - Did TJ get you in trouble? - That's just something. - I was like, "What do you mean?" They're like, "Oh, oh, Amy's phone, did you see it?" I'm like, "See what?" So I get up and I go in there and I'm like, "Amy, TJ sent you something on your phone. She just picks her phone up and she looks at it." And it's this. - He had AI to love letter. - It says, "Dear Amy, I was wondering if Dale "can have a hall pass for a couple hours "to play some computer games with his computer nerd friends "sincerely computer nerds." - But it's like decorated. There's a lot of emojis and things over the page. Yeah, he AI'd it. I was like, "You all are funny." - We played a little hell at loose for about an hour and a half and that was that. - Yeah. - It was good. - And it was, they don't ever do things like that. TJ thought he was so clever. - Yeah. - Usually they're just like. - Can Bill come out and play? - Can you come out and play? That's very much what it felt like. - That was what it was like. - So we met Tom Cruise. We talked about this, I think, on the other show Tuesday. But I've met him a couple of times. First time I met him was when he was trying to film the first danger summer, the first days of Thunder. Come to talk to Dad just to pick his brain about the movie. And I met him again in 2008 at Fontana while we were out there racing. And so I might have seen him what's between all of that but I don't really remember. - He's pretty good friends with Mr. H. So he's around sometimes. - Very close with Rick and Jeff Gordon. And so I was going to the Freedom Factory and then to the O'Reilly race Friday night at Daytona. And somebody takes me and they go, "Hey, man, Tom wants to meet. "Can you stay?" I'm like, "I'll stay when you want to meet." And they're like, "Give to me all these different times. "Four o'clock, three o'clock, noon, 11, 10." - And he was flying in for the race Saturday, but we could even do it all over the place. And I'm like, "I probably should stay." So-- - Well, he tells me this. And I'm like, "Yeah, you should stay." - That's real Amy. - No, I'm coming with you. (laughing) - Yeah, so Amy's gonna come, which is cool. 'Cause she's there, then she gets to go to the Freedom Factory. Then she gets to get in the car with Clea to do the drift. Then we go-- - One idea of snowballs and all these other things. - Yeah, she goes and see some friends on a Daytona while I'm at the O'Reilly race. And we get done and we meet up at the hotel and had a couple beers and went to bed and got up in the morning, went straight to the NASCAR hanger. NASCAR has their own hanger over to the airport. And Tom flies his own plane, comes taxing up, and we walk out to the tarmac and talk to him for 10, 20 minutes. - Yeah, so he gets off the plane, and I don't know if he flies his plane with bare feet, or if he just didn't have his boots strapped, but he gets off the plane and he's kneeling down, like saying hello, strapping his boots on. He seemed as down the earth as he could possibly be. We hear stories about how high energy he is. And he seemed-- He had some energy, but it wasn't alarming. - He was bouncing out the walls. - Pretty down the earth and I was just blown away, but that's probably the most famous person I've ever been around. I was trying very hard to not totally geek out. And I told Dale, I'm only gonna speak when spoken to, 'cause I've got a loud mouth. Sometimes I just can't stop talking. And I was worried I was gonna embarrass his boat, so I was like, Dale, I'm not gonna say anything unless he said something to me first. But he was very calm and made me, I didn't feel stupid or weird hanging out, but he sat and talked to Dale about meeting his dad. That was the first thing he said. He's like, he gets Dale on a hug, and he's like, I've known this guy since he was a little kid, and then he goes on to tell his experience with Dale's senior. And-- - That was fun telling him. So, when he came to Dad's shop way back when they were just scouting information for the original days of thunder, him and Dad, he walks in. There was a dad and Teresa were like, we're gonna meet Tom Cruise, he's coming here. We're all gonna be there. Me and Kelly were almost too young to really know much about Tom, but I knew about Risky Business and all that because that was pretty controversial back then. That movie was pretty risky. And especially for like, I guess I was 12 or so. And so, I was like, oh man, this young, new famous, I've never met a movie star, so this is really cool. So, he comes in, hey, this is my kids, Teresa, and then immediately him and Dad go into Dad's little office, tiny little office in the corner of the building, and they sit in there for an hour, it felt like maybe longer. And they talked about everything in there. And I don't know what the conversation was. Dad never, you know, Dad wasn't gonna come out and say, here's everything we said. - Yeah, he wasn't getting everything. - But I was like, finally, I get to go Tom. I really wish I was in that room with you and Dad that day. That must have been really cool. And he was like, you know, he went on and on about that. - He was talking about with the race before, and they had gotten into a wreck, and apparently they'll senior, you know, got into somebody, and he said your dad's stuff, and he did his little hand on his hip thing with the leg out, like you stand, has had down, it's like, you know what, boy? Robins racing, and he's like, and that's why he's going in the movie. - He's going in the movie, and so it was cool just to see his energy, and it's easy as without that. - Tom asked him, he's like, man, you wrecked that guy. And last week, you know, what he's trying to like, pick his brain about it, and that's like, Robins racing, Tom, and Tom's like, that's going in the movie, and it's also. - And so I think Harry Hogg says that at one point. Of course, I mean, it's not a, it's a very common phrase, but-- - But he hadn't heard it before, you know? And his inner, his like, fondness of that moment too, but you know, you could kind of feel that. It was just neat. And I immediately got jealous because even Tom Cruise is like, met and had experiences with Feels Dad. - So-- - I just often wish that I had had met him just at least one time, so. - There's a, there's a felony in wheeled, is helping, is in charge a guess of kind of forming the, the, the show and the storyline and all that. And I've been talking to Will for a year, it feels like, and he's awesome guy. And so, and I've enjoyed being able to help them or, or, you know, share my perspective of the sport. So, what I've learned over the course of this is, how much control Tom has. And I mean, imagine now, you know, everything he's ever done. Of course, he has lots of control and influence over everything he works on. But I mean, he's like, steering, you know, if he wants to turn, if they're going down this road with the script of the storyline and he wants to take a right in turn and change this, they do it, he does it, you know, in there. And so-- - He doesn't really feel, like he's very passionate about everything, and he does research just not without all of those, all of those things, so. - He's super involved, it's not like, you know, he don't just show up, you know, learn the script and do what, you know, he's not just, it's interesting. It's really interesting, so. - But he cares a lot about it. - That's what I mean, I mean, he's like, he's invested, like this is his-- - He's not going to half-ass it. - This is his project. - And it's not about his ego. It's, he just wants it to be really good. So, I'm excited for the next movie. I love the first one. - I never thought they'd make another day's a thunder. And there really was, and I guess a need to make another day's a thunder. But you get this, you get so far removed. I think when you sort of flip generations, or, you know, it's like songs that were very, very good songs, you know, 10 years ago, nobody needs to cover them. No popular artist is going to cover that song. It's only 10, 15 years old, and it would be pointless to really cover that song and feature that song. But a song that's 30, 40, 50 years old, absolutely. You, you know, a popular artist could cover that song. 'Cause a lot of their generation in this generation doesn't know the song, the way, you know, the way the original is. - Yeah, I think so. - And so there are a lot of people who are hearing it for the first time, or hearing that version for the first time. - It revitalizes the original also. - It's kind of like Top Gun, which Tom Cruise did. - Yeah, and they did a season long. - He gave it time and they crushed it. - They did. So, I think it's great that they're making this movie. I think it's fantastic for NASCAR, what a credible opportunity to fall into, you know, fall into their lap, but, you know, just a real opportunity to capitalize on shooting and to sport into the stratosphere for, you know. Maybe we can-- - We need generations. - I mean, you'd have to imagine that there's no coincidence that days of thunder comes out and the sport goes on this insane run for the next 15 years in viewership, popularity. There was-- - Did it do that with the original? - That's what I mean. - Oh, okay. - Like when they'd thunder come out and like 1990, we were going pretty well as a sport, but I mean, those type of things that-- These are thunder wasn't the sole reason why we shot into the freaking stratosphere, but it didn't hurt. - It helped. It was a big help having an actor like that, having all of the people that were casting that movie, making our sport feel important, making it feel legitimate was a big deal. So, it's an important role that I think Tom takes pretty seriously for this next film. - Yeah. - 'Cause he kept telling us that. And I really just want the industry to love it. I want to make sure we're showcasing it exactly the way it is. - Like we're going to do a good job. - Yeah, he takes it very seriously. - Yeah, I loved it.
