CI - S2 - 112 - #Classic - Client Retention Mastery - Turn Satisfied Customers into Lifelong Revenue with Megan Huber

The transcription features a conversation between a host and guest Megan Uber, focusing on how coaches and consultants can attract clients. Megan explains her transition from a high school teacher to a coach after obtaining a certification, which built her confidence. She initially gained clients by attending local networking events and securing speaking slots, where she positioned herself as an expert. By speaking frequently and using simple brochures for direct sign-ups, she booked her first clients without a large audience or ads. Megan charged modest rates initially, such as $250 per session or $97/month for group programs, and later scaled her business. She highlights the effectiveness of in-person interactions for immediate feedback and client conversion. After a hiatus working for another company, she returned to coaching, applying her experience to build an online presence focused on client retention and community building, particularly through Facebook groups. The discussion stresses actionable steps, embracing discomfort, and leveraging direct engagement to create a predictable client pipeline.

If you're the one speaking at the front of the room, the audience automatically believes you are the smartest person in the room. They already believe you're the leader of the room. I wanted people to have that perception of me because I knew the only way I'm going to make money and get clients is if I'm speaking. You're a coach, consultant or an expert and you know you can help people. But you're struggling to attract a steady stream of paying clients into your business. You're putting content out there, you're trying to dial in your offer. Maybe you're even building an audience, but it's just not turning into real revenue. It's inconsistent, it's frustrating, and you're kind of stuck in that middle ground of, "I know this should be working," but it's not. If that sounds like you, this episode is really going to resonate with you. In today's classic episode, Thomas talking with Megan Uber. Megan is someone who helps coaches and consulting businesses improve their client experience, increase retention, and ultimately scale their businesses in a much more predictable way. But what's really powerful about this conversation is she breaks down how she actually got started. Like how she got a first client, how she turned conversations into paying clients, and how she built momentum without a big audience, without ads, without doing anything fancy. So if you're trying to figure out how to actually get clients coming in the door consistently, you're going to want to pay attention to this one. Let's dive in. Hey guys, welcome to another awesome episode of coaching ink. I am so excited about today's show. I have an amazing guest for you guys. So this is like the person that we all call all of a coaches call if we are having a problem with client retention, client success, or we want to build our modules. We want to make them more effective. We want to increase engagement in our community. And this is where she is absolutely just a complete rock star and is really somebody that we all rely on. So every time we're all talking, we're saying, hey, we have an issue, or we want to enhance engagement. We want to make a better community. We always go to Megan and I am so excited to have her on the show today. We are going to deep dive. Number one, how she got started and how you can follow exactly what she did to get your first client, your first 10 clients, your first 20 clients, and then how she uses Facebook groups and other methodologies to get clients consistently. So whether you're just starting out or you want to grow and scale your business and you want to increase retention rate, guys, we are going to put her in the hot seat and we are going to pick her brain and then she's going to leave all kinds of awesome goodies for our community. And I can't wait to get started. So Megan, can you hear me okay? I can hear you. Let's do it. Bam. All right. Well, thank you so much for being on today's show. We're going to have a great adventure. And before we deep dive all of your expertise and I am really going to hold your feet to the fire. We want to get a ton of value on this podcast. Can you just give us a quick summary of like, how did you get started? What you do? Everybody in my circle thinks you're phenomenal and awesome. And everyone keeps saying you got to have Megan. You were on the show. So they want to ask you questions. I definitely want you to host a Q&A for our community at some point. So looking forward to that. But can you give us like a little background of how you get started and what you do now? Yes. So how I got started my background, my first career in my 20s. I was a high school business education teacher. Didn't go to college for that. But when I graduated, I had zero clue what I wanted to do as a 22 year old. Right. My mom, my mom was a career educator. She goes, Megan, you'd be such an amazing teacher. Just like become a teacher. I'll put you in school to go get your master's degree because I had to get certified. So that's what I did. I taught high school. My classroom was actually right beside my mom. We taught beside each other at the same school. And I also taught for North Carolina virtual public schools. Same classes. When my husband and I had our daughter who just turned 13, I left the classroom, came home, was bored out of my mind. And my husband suggested I get certified to be a coach. And I did. It was about a five month long coaching certification program. And at the end of that, I thought, oh my gosh, this is so similar to what I was doing as a teacher. I can really combine my skillset from the classroom. And in what I'm learning about coaching, and I can put that together, and I can start a business. And I can be creative and be a leader and do all the things and kind of get my mojo back. You know, when you become a mom, it's you feel like you lose all that when you're home with your baby. So that's why I got started. I got started getting a coaching certification saying I'm starting a business. And I got started locally. So that's awesome. I know a lot of people listening. They are just now making the transition from, hey, you know, I've had some success in this particular arena. And now I want to get into coaching or become a consultant. What was a certificate program that you took? And do you recommend it? Or do you think now like, hey, I really could have just started either way? What are your thoughts on that? I definitely needed a certification. I didn't know anything about coaching. I knew teaching inside of a classroom. I was a swim coach. I was the high school tennis coach. I was using coaching in my classroom, not knowing that's what I was using inside of my classroom. But I definitely needed a coaching certification. I went through this person still exists. And this company still exists. It's called Center for Coaching Certification. Her name is Kathy Liska. She still runs her programs. And it is an ICF accredited program. And that was really important to me at that time. I know, you know, people can say a lot of things about that today. But it was important to me. And I learned a lot. And it was pretty rigorous. And there was a experiential part of that. You got to actually coach your peers being observer. And I needed that at the time. It built my confidence in the coaching. That's awesome. So I love it. That's interesting because that wasn't my journey. But I am just the way you're talking about it. And with so much enthusiasm, like I'm thinking, man, I'd like to take that. That's I'm sure I could learn something that would be phenomenal. How much was it? How long was it? Was it like a big four year vanger? Was it just a short what did that look like? So this was in 2011. So 12 years ago, I believe the cost was I know it was under 2000 above 1000, maybe 1200 or 1500. And it was four or five months long. I did it at the very end of 11. Yeah. Phenomenal. Okay. So and what were you trying to coach? Was it like what were you going into? I think it was was a business coaching or what what are that beginning of the part of your journey look like? So when I got the coaching certification, I actually was never intending on starting business. My husband suggested I go there because I was so I wasn't enjoying motherhood. I wasn't enjoying doing nothing inside my house with a baby that slept. She slept all day. Right. Right. I was going stir crazy. So and I want to be really clear about that. I didn't have the intention to start a business when I went into the coaching certification program. It was through the process where I realized, oh my gosh, I could actually do this. I could create a business from this. And I could be really good at this. So when I transitioned into starting the business, I went the direction of working with business owners because I was taking also my business degree at the time because I was in my 20s when I went through this. I think I was 27 or 28 years old. I was tapping into the fact that a business degree and I was a business education teacher and I was teaching entrepreneurship classes at the high school level. So I was combining that and then my just drive and love for all things business. I just put all that together and decided that the easiest direction for me to go when to get started was to start with business owners. I think that is awesome. It's so interesting to me how so many different coaches and consultants and mentors and influencers, how all of us have started our journeys in such unique ways. So you're fresh out of your certification program. I've got to ask like because everyone is going to be asking the same exact question, which is how did you get your first one, two, three clients? Because a lot of listeners right now they're either right where you were at back then or they're about to be. So what did that look like? How much did you charge? What did you sell them? How did you find them? How did you sell them? All of that good stuff. What does that look like? Yeah. So I will tell you exactly how I got started. I'm going to be really honest. I was very uncomfortable. I had never been in any type of sales role or marketing role. I was a high school teacher. Okay. So I was not out in the real world networking with people and selling and knocking on doors and co-calling. I didn't have that experience. I didn't have that training in corporate. So I was terrified and I thought, okay, I've got to learn this. I've got to learn this quick. I've got to get out of my comfort zone. And so I just started going to local networking groups and I specifically found a local networking organization that had I think 25 or 26 chapters and they were all within driving distance, meaning like I could drive. And at the time I lived in a very small town and I had to drive 45 minutes to get to a larger town. So I was driving 45 minutes, hour and a half, two hours, but I was like, I'm going to join the group that has all the local networking groups. And then I started getting really wise when I would attend the networking groups and I'm like, huh, not many of these people are actually getting business from one another except the person speaking at the front of the room. And I thought the only one making money is the person speaking at the front of the room. I am going to speak at the front of the room. So if I'm going to bother to drive and take my infant at the time because Brighton was a baby and I was schlepping her everywhere with me. She would go to the networking event, she would go to the speaking engagement with me. I had zero excuses and I would speak and I also read in a book. I was reading a book at the time by Brian Tracy. And in the first page, the first chapter, the last sentence in the first paragraph, I remember this to this day. He said, if you're the one speaking at the front of the room, the audience automatically believes you are the smartest person in the room. I basically put myself on a speaking circuit and I was booking anywhere from three. At that time, anywhere from three to 10 speaking engagements a month and I did that for about six months in a row. And again, Brighton went everywhere with me and some of those speaking engagements, you only had a 10 minute slot because a lot of it, it was at networking groups that would meet for an hour and I would have 10 minutes. So I would grow around, I would speak on my topic and at the end of my topic, I would have a little brochure and I would give them the brochure and on the brochure, they could fill out their credit card information and they were note, you know, they were taking notes on it and they would have my information on it. And I would book calls with people or they would fill their credit card information right there on the spot. That's always getting clients. I have got, first of all, I absolutely love this. This is like the best. So I don't even know where to start. So first of all, guys, anybody, if you're listening, if you're familiar with the coaching and community and spirals, if you're not, go to coaching, inkin, look this up. But in the spirals, the eye stands for in person meetings, both having your own and going to others. I cannot agree with you more because when you are doing a social media live or a TikTok or an Instagram or a Facebook reel or whatever, all of these things are, you don't really get that visceral, you know, belly to belly where you can make eye contact and you could say, hey, you know, it's like that comedian when you go up on stage and you could see like, hey, these bits and bites, they're just not landing, right? No one's laughing. It's crickets. And you feel that in your belly and it just isn't, there's an immediacy to that, which tells you, it gives you that instant feedback. So going in person meetings is super uncomfortable and just guys like everything that is super awkward and uncomfortable. That is where you're going to have the most growth and most success. No one has ever built anything great without awkward conversation. So I think that that is awesome. Can we do have like an old copy of that because I would love to say we have to find that at some point. I don't think so. I'm so bad. I am not saved stuff from back then. Okay. Now that I'm like this far into it, I'm like, gosh, I wish I had saved all those things, but no. So essentially the way you were, well, let's unpack that. So you're going and you're speaking and this is just general business like consulting like one or one business. Like very basic business. And I was, I mean, it's local networking groups. So it's people who had brick and mortar. So I mean, there were a lot of network marketers. There were a lot of brick and mortar insurance people, dog groomers, the financial planner, it's all of that. And they wanted, I mean, look, every, every business owner wants help with the same thing. They want help staying focused, doing what they're supposed to do, taking action because at that point, like they understand that it's mastering the basics and doing the basics over and over again. And it honestly, it was just a lot of helping them stay focused, set goals, set the priorities and take action and get a result and then repeat that. I mean, that honestly, that's what a lot of my coaching was in the early days. I think that that's absolutely brilliant. I love it. It's phenomenal. So you put yourself out there. You got out there and that's how you got your first three clients. How much did you charge and what did you sell them? If it was like me, mine was $300. Yeah, I think I was charging $250 a session, which was an hour. Okay. And then when I met a girl that I became really good friends with back in 2011, 12, but we met each other at networking events. There was one time where we, there's a couple of things we did together. So when I say together because we were splitting the money, so let me tell you what we did. We started a group program. I remember it was 90 days. We met with them in person two times a month and we didn't know where to meet in person. So we just went to this hotel. I think it was like called the A-Loft. It was probably like a three-star hotel. We didn't even ask. We just had everybody meet there. We would circle a group of chairs around in the lobby. We never saw people who were staying there walking. And it was nice enough that it was good. It was good. It was good. We charged $97 a month and we were splitting that. That's awesome. Like 10 people in that group. And then one other time we hosted a half day workshop at the Chamber of Commerce. We charged $67. We sold a half day VIP day. Again, we are splitting this. Right. That's not a VIP day. I think for 400, I think it was $497. And we went to them. We drove to either their house, if they worked out of their house or their place of business and delivered that. And I think we sold like 50% of the room from that workshop. And there were maybe 15 people in the room. So small beginnings. But we were, I mean, I remember we did that workshop. We sold half the room. I remember I was so excited. I picked up the phone and called my coach at the time. And I was like, you will never believe this. We just sold half the room at $497. Oh my gosh. That was like 2012. That was 2012. That was 2012. Right. Yeah. Perfection, massive imperfection. But I in my personal, because I kind of have similar beginning. And I think that that in person, it just puts you light years ahead. I mean, obviously you're so successful now and it's influential. I mean, those in person meetings, there is nothing like that that just absolutely is an accelerant to your success. I love that you brought that up because that's key. Okay. So that was the structure of how you did. I know you have a whole new program now. But I want to ask about you went through a section where you were really mastering community. And one of the things that we really believe in coaching ink is that all good coaches and consultants are either they've become a master craftsman of either coaching or community or marketing. Like they are one of the three and someone of the other two also, but there's always usually one that sounds up. What is the secret to anybody who is saying, okay, now I want to do this more consistently or I'm still starting from scratch. I want to start a Facebook group. I have no audience, no following. I just am starting today. Like what are your tips and tricks for those individuals? Yeah. So let me tell everybody because I think this is an important part of the story. So you just heard like my beginnings and that was the first two, two and a half years of my business. And Tom knows this because I shared it with him, but I actually left that business in 2000, like end of 2013. I was transitioning out of it beginning of 2014. And I worked full time as a director of client success for a very large scale coaching company. The person was a mentor of mine and she kind of like lowered me in to be the director of this and we built her company up to like seven, eight, nine, 10 million a year, something in that range. And that was there for three years. So when I came back into it, now we're talking January of 2017. So when I exited my first business, the online stuff was just starting. I mean, this was back when Facebook ads were in the right hand side column and you could only have like 90 characters for Facebook ad. That's the world I left. And so then I was kind of out of touch with all of that. I mean, I was in touch with it because all of our clients at the company I was working for. They were building online and using social media. But social media wasn't the thing in 2011 and 2012. So when I came back in 2017, I was like, okay, this time around, I wasn't a newbie, but I was starting from scratch because I wasn't, I did not build a side hustle. No one knew I was leaving. I didn't have this pack of people who I could just tap into and knew that they were going to buy from me as soon as I left. We literally had $9,000 to our name. We had maxed out credit cards like I wasn't sitting on a pile of money to just sort of figure out the businesses second time around. But I was smarter the second time around because I'd done it and I had worked for somebody and basically done it for them. And we talk about how you were able to find because I know a lot of coaches. As a matter of fact, we were just having this conversation internally and there was a coach that is a private client and he was saying that, you know, he wasn't sure how he felt about coaching. He actually went to do fulfillment for another coach, a big name coach and he was talking about that. Can you just briefly tell us a little bit like if someone is kind of in that quasi state where they're kind of like, I'm not sure, but I'd loved how did you even apply for that position, find it, collaborate in that way. Yeah, this is so random. I wasn't even connected to this person on Facebook, the person that I ended up working for. But she posted a, it was like a eight minute video on Facebook that I somehow stumbled upon. I think it was shared on somebody else's Facebook page that I must have been following. And she was talking about starting an apprenticeship program and there was no pay. So I wasn't paid. We weren't paying her and it was a year long. Because she wanted to pass the baton and we were essentially helping her create this massive year long coaching program that she called the Academy and also at a certification program attached to it. I didn't know her, but there was an application. process, I applied for it and I knew when I was applying for it, I was going to get it. And I believe there were about 150 applicants. So that's how I found out about it. But I'll tell you, there are so many, so many coaches who are looking for really good people to either be associate coaches, community managers, program directors, directors of client success. If you just post on Facebook or on social media, hey, I'm looking for or who's hiring this position. So many people are looking for that. Guys, I am telling you what you guys should go back 30 seconds and just listen to what Megan just said, because that is that only would come from a person who has success and wealth in the Serena. That's that is expert advice. I literally just had a phone call with the same exact in that particular case, the person didn't want to go into coaching. The coach wanted to be the face, but not handle fulfillment. It was a match made in heaven. There are so many people who have had success and they have a written methodology out, but they don't want to be the one either out on the, what do we call the front of the stage, back to the stage, right? So make a Facebook post and just that is such a brilliant simple way to get started, guys. I would. >> And tell people. >> Yeah. >> And tell people coaches in the industry, who do you know, like who of your colleagues are looking for XYZ position, go tell people because we all know people. And I'm constantly asked by folks like, hey, Megan, do you know anybody? I'm looking to hire this position. I'm constantly being asked by friends and colleagues who I know and I love referring people. So. >> I think that's brilliant. So, okay, so easy, PC, lemon, squeezey, so Facebook groups, what started, right? Tell me like, what does that look like? Where do I get started? What is the secret sauce here? >> Okay, so when I came back into business the second time around, now we're talking January 2017. >> Okay. >> I left my job, nobody knew I was leaving and I thought, okay, Megan, you literally don't have any money. You have to make this work and you have to make this work really fast. So here are the decisions that I made. Number one, I knew exactly who my ideal client was. Exactly. I was very clear on that. Number two, I knew exactly what my promise was going to be to them. What is the result? I can promise them, I can help them achieve. Number three, and that's what I was, that's the offer I was putting out there. Number three, I knew exactly what my coaching package was going to be and I knew I could start out with one-on-one, it was going to be faster, it was going to be easier and I could charge the most money for that. Because remember, I needed money at the time as well, it was very important. That was absolutely brilliant. Those are the three, I love how you did that because so many people just go, but you knew exactly, so I want to go over that. Exactly who the person was that you were looking for. >> Yeah, let me say this. I picked people who I knew I had access to. I did not pick an avatar that I didn't already have in my immediate sphere of influence, meaning I could pick the phone up and call somebody and say, hey, what are you up to? Are you still in business? This is what I'm doing now. Are you looking for support in it? Boom, there was a client. That's how I got a client and that was through text message. So, I picked a client, I knew I could get immediately. >> That is really, as you're saying that, I realized that I do that myself. I never dial that in into words. That is really spectacular because I totally agree. I think, yes, if you don't have access to that avatar, Jay Abraham, he has a great book, it's called Get Everything You Can Add to Everything You've Got. By the way, guys, if you haven't read that, read that book, but I love the way you have really, I'm tripping over my words because you really hit me here with something that I think is, I've always kind of known, but you just said it, which is you really have to have access to those people. They're going to have to edit all these ums and a's out of here because I'm just processing this. But even knowing exactly, I like how you clarified exactly what the promise is, what is you're deliverable? There again, it's so common that people get into coaching or consulting and they just kind of have a general like, oh, I'm going to help them feel better. Or like, the specificity on that is so key. >> Yeah, here's the question I ask myself. This is a question listeners can ask themselves, what is the result? I know. I know. What's the result? I know I can help people achieve. Not what's the result do people want. Not what's the result do I think is going to make me money. Not what's the result that somebody else on social media saying, but what from my background, my history, my expertise, my past results, what I've achieved. If people follow this methodology and they work with me, what's the promise I know I can make and what's the result. I know I can help someone achieve. I didn't stray from that at all because that's where my confidence was. That's where my competency and my confidence was and I knew coming in the second time around, I've got to go out with confidence and conviction and I was not about to choose something that I didn't have confidence and conviction and because I had to hit and have a choice. I literally didn't have a choice. I had to hit the ground running and I had to be able to generate clients quickly and I'll tell you what my goal was. I remember my goal. My goal was $60,000. My coaching package was $6,000 and it was a four month one on one engagement and I think that was three sessions a month with one week off for four months, $6,000. I knew I needed 10 clients and I wanted to do that in 30 days. It took me 45 days and I ended up with eight clients because one of those was a larger, it ended up being like a $15,000 package. The first 45 days, that's halfway through February, I had made my 60 grand, not all cash collected, 60 grand, I had zero expenses and I had eight clients which then allowed me to transition really quickly into a very small group. Right after. First of all, I mean, awesome. And I feel like I'm going to answer your question about the Facebook group. No, no, we have to get into it but I will tell you like this is brilliant. There's so much clarity that people hear from you and I agree with that confidence that you know, that is where you're going to have that firm. I really, you can, the scaffolding that you can build on confidence like that is so awesome. And the fact that you had that goal, you know, was it a written goal of like six, six, six, yeah, that's so key. So very, very, very cool. I like it. So, all right. So yes, the Facebook groups, what are your thoughts there? People are like, okay, great. You made 60,000. You got these clients, but how did you do it? Right. Say again, when I worked for the person I worked for, I was basically non-existent in terms of having a personal life. So I wasn't keeping up on social media. If I go back and look between 2014, 15, 16, I wasn't all over social media. I was kind of, I mean, I was working for somebody else. I was literally shape shifting into who I had to be to represent that brand. And I think that's really important for people to know because I wasn't this big online influencer. I was terrified to announce on my private Facebook profile, I'm starting a business and I'm launching a Facebook group, come join it over here. I was terrified. My husband literally had to push me off the ledge to do that. Right. So I decided I am going, okay, what did I do when I started my first business? What worked for me? Speaking worked. I knew I had the chops because I have a teaching background. I knew I could speak about my topic and I knew from the first time around that when I spoke, people could connect with that. And if I could speak, have a call to action that was really clear, I could get people on phone calls and then I could convert them into a client. So I knew I'm going to go all in on starting a Facebook group. I did nothing else, nothing else, nothing else. Let's be clear. I love it. I love it. personal profile either because I was afraid to. At the time, I'll tell you the truth. I was very afraid to attract people and work with people who I didn't already have a relationship with. And that was a big limiting belief of mine. So I kind of hid inside of a private Facebook group because a lot of people joining my Facebook group. At first, it was people who already knew me because remember, I'd been building relationships for years. And I was starting to leverage all those relationships that I had built and kept for all those years. So I opened up a private Facebook group here was my cadence. And I'm not saying everybody has to operate this way, but this is what I did. This was my plan. I knew I was going to post inside that Facebook group four to six times a day. And that's what I did four to six times a day. And it was a mixture of me teaching a little bit, but it was a lot of me finding out what the people in the group wanted and finding out their language and getting them engaged and getting them involved and getting them chatting back and forth with me and with each other. You know, I'm sure there were some days I was only posting once or twice, but I was posting a lot. So that was number one. And I was only posting about anything that would resonate with who my idol client is and the result that I'm promising them in my program. When you know those two things, knowing the content to come up with is it's crystal clear and it's easy. You have to be on those two things, then your contents are breeze. The other is I'm going to go live two times a week. And I would do a 30 to 45 minute Facebook live and I was like holding class. I mean, I would have the chart paper out, my markers out, turn the camera. I was literally teaching. And at the end, I would have a call to action. And I would say, if you are someone who is experiencing X Y Z and you are struggling with ABC, I can help you reach one, two and three. If this sounds like you, here are your next steps. I want you to send me a private message and tell me you'd like to get on a call to talk about working with me in my blah, blah, blah package. And that is all I did. Like hand on the Bible. That is all I did. I didn't literally I love this. This is like so much clarity guys if you are listening to this podcast. And I did that Tom for a year straight a year. I didn't do anything else but that for a year consistently. That's phenomenal. And I know again, anybody listening guys, the spirals in coaching ink, you know, social media groups is one of the spirals, right? That's the first S and I totally, I mean, I have never interviewed a guest where I literally make it every single, we are so on the same page. And the key here is that it's all the basics, right? It's like, I feel like complexity is a law that catches so many new coaches, right? They want to build funnels and tunnels and webinars and seminars and paid ads and you don't have to do any of that. I mean, really when you boil down guys, what Megan is saying? What is she really saying? She's saying, speak, do in person meetings and start a Facebook group. And she has had phenomenal success. I mean, I could tell you in our circles of coaches and consultants, her name is like, everybody knows her. She's the go to person. I think this is really brilliant. So, all right. So before I let you go and I'm definitely 100% I want to have you back on for sure because I have like two pages of questions that I haven't even got to that I want to know from you. So this is awesome. What do you do now? So yeah, what do you do now? I want to hear your offer because you know, I know you know, it's a little bit different and I know you know who you know. I know you know who you work with. Well, so anybody listening, what is it that you do now? Yeah. So I no longer am running my own big group coaching programs, basically teaching people to do what I just said. I used to teach people how to do everything that I just said. Okay. Group programs and fill group programs for using a Facebook group. I shut all that down two years ago and I transitioned into doing consulting and now I have a business partner. We are building an agency. Our whole focus is on going into typically seven and eight figure coaching and education companies or education companies that have experienced rapid growth in their client enrollment in a very short period of time. So at that level they have hundreds or thousands of clients and we are showing them how to create a more superior client experience that's going to increase their profits specifically from retention and referral. So that's all in the client success client experience world. When we start working with people we start with everybody the same way by going in and doing a full audit of every single thing that has to do with their programs of the film it. We look at all the data, we look at all their metrics, we look at their curriculum, all their client feedback, we read, we interview some of their clients, we talk to team members, provide them with a fork spend a day with them and then we're off to the races. When we were talking about you, when you weren't in the room they were like well she's going to interview your clients. So whatever you say, she's not really listening to you, she's going to she said, your clients will tell her things that they're not going to tell you which I thought was really awesome and that is phenomenal. So I'm totally blown away. I think that that's awesome and I know that you also when I was in a conversation and one of the things that another coach was saying, I'm hesitating to say everybody's name but I'm sure it's fine because everybody I mean there's nothing private but they were saying that you really had helped with onboarding and that really helps the onboarding which I thought was very interesting. The onboarding process of like from the time the customer says, Hey, yes, I'm in. I want to join the program, the coaching, the mentorship, whatever it is, the group. What happens from the time they say yes to the time they actually start and how important that is and how it relates to the ultimately the retention rate of that client, which is key because I always love what you say about how I'm reading your Facebook post all the time and they're like, Hey, that is really important for retention rate later on and it's more important to maintain the relationship with the people who already like no one trust you. Then it is to find new people. I mean, we're we're in total alignment. I totally agree with that. Absolutely. Yeah, for sure. Very, very cool. So I want to have you back on the show. I've got a thousand questions. Thank you for all of these gold nuggets. We're going to upload this but if anybody wants to get a hold of you, how do they get a hold of you? Where do they find you, especially for our coaches who are already growing and they have hundreds or thousands of clients? Yeah, so you can go to my website, which I'll be honest. It's kind of lame. It's super simple over there. It's Megan Johnson, Hubert.com. I also have a podcast where I talk a lot about client success on my podcast. Most of my episodes are about client success and the name of that show is built to last. And then of course, you can find me on social media anywhere at Megan J. Hubert. Bam, built to last. I'm going to put that in the coaching in community and that is phenomenal. So I can't wait Megan, Hubert to have me back on. If that's cool with you because I got a lot that let's do it. All right, awesome. So that was really that was awesome. So thank you so much for your time today. Yeah, you're welcome. Awesome. Good here and from you. All right. So here's the big takeaway from today's episode. This is way simpler than most people make it. You don't need some complicated funnel. You don't need a massive audience. You don't need to keep figuring things out. You need three things. Number one, clarity on who you help. Number two, a result you know you can deliver. And number three, the willingness to actually get in front of people and surprise, make offers. It's that simple. That's how she got her first clients. That's how she created momentum. And honestly, that's the part most people avoid doing. So if you've been stuck, if you've been overthinking, if you've been waiting for it to just all click, this is your sign to simplify things and actually execute because the people winning right now aren't doing more than you. A certification can be crucial for building confidence and skills, especially if you lack prior coaching experience, as it provides structured training and practical experience.

After speaking, provide a brochure with your information and a way to book calls or fill out credit card details on the spot to capture interest immediately.

Begin with affordable rates, such as charging per session (e.g., $250/hour) or offering group programs (e.g., $97/month), to make your services accessible and build initial clientele.

In-person meetings offer immediate feedback and deeper connections, accelerating growth by allowing you to read the audience and adjust your approach on the spot.
