actually uh i think we're gonna go floating on the swan uh tomorrow or saturday on swan lake uh river i was gonna say yeah i don't know how far you would float that would be wind dependent i feel yeah kick off every once in a while i get a good email nice that i would like to read and address for the audience and i think people will understand why and this is not an attempt to highlight anything negative i would actually consider this email to be very neutral but it highlights two things that are interesting one is that it's a good email and two is that it's a good email the first one is this i'm not that hard to get a hold of and i and i do my best to read and respond to the emails that i do get i apologize if i don't get back to every single one i'm doing the best that i can i also have other things personally and professionally i have to work on it's not hard to reach out to me or figure out how to get a hold of me your email is everywhere it's out there and i also have a contact me on both the cleared hot podcast website and the andystumpf.com website which sends it directly to me and i also have a contact me on both the it is so interesting to me the difference in emails between those who provide contact information back and those that don't wait so can people send anonymous emails yes oh interesting they can okay and they almost always fall into two types of buckets if the feedback is going to be negative or a critique of me as a person which i'm totally fine with because there's plenty of things that i could do better no issue with the critique of me as a person some things i can't change i'm as tall as i am my eyes are the color that they are so my voice sounds like what it does i apologize if those things are offensive to you in some way can't solve those negative feedback or tell me you know people writing and telling me that i'm a cuck for the uh government you know the military industrial conflicts never has a response the more negative the feedback the less likely it is to receive an email that i could respond to and most of the times i wouldn't but sometimes and this is an example of one where like i said there's certainly feedback in this but i consider it neutral and it actually highlights a couple things that i think are important for people to remember which is why i wrote back hit send and it says mailbox can't be found and that's when people put in they want to they want to be transmit only yeah they want to be critical but they don't want to hear what you have to say and live your life however you want to if you want to live yourself in a closed off walled garden like that please by all means do that and i'll see you in the next video bye bye do but i'll read the email then i'll read my response okay i don't listen to me what was the subject subject was q a i thought we were going to get a uh a question that's what i would assume yeah i don't listen to military-based podcasts anymore i don't read the books my grandfather served in the pacific during the war and so i read all the great books like with the old breed and helmet for my pillow i never understood why he was so quiet about his service and disgusted with my interest in those books now after american sniper and the lone survivor i get why he was we have no idea who's a liar and who isn't i can't listen to a podcast without having a a idea if a guy is a bullshit artist or not if a podcaster has a man on who insists bigfoot is an alien living in the south pole who was transported there via time travel portal by raytheon and he put in parentheses the show that did that i'll leave that out of it and then has a veteran on the next day telling a bunch of war stories how am i supposed to take it as anything other than fiction if it integrity problem i know it won't get fixed there's too much profit in lies i didn't read your book and i won't i like your podcast though as it is the last one i still listen to i hope we don't end like it could be real most of the fake ones are like one eight four random string random string of numbers maybe there was a misspelling maybe there was a chance per chance here's what i wrote back i appreciate the email and i understand your perspective unfortunately you will never find out that i served on an aircraft carrier it's not because that was my classified service it's because that just didn't happen my military military record is very straightforward and openly verifiable you can take that or leave it for what it's worth i'm always honest about my service what i experienced and what i didn't your email is interesting i'm curious why you took the time to write to me sure there are examples of those that have issues with integrity but for some reason you are hyper fixating on those and ignoring the vast majority who do not why is that the veteran community is comprised of people and people have issues no one is perfect and some people are motivated by fame fortune or the combination of the two others are not do the bad apples speak for the community as a whole they certainly do not and i would challenge you to give me an example of any community that does not have their fair share of individuals struggling with integrity it is not a community problem it's a people problem if you confuse the size of someone's audience with their integrity or authenticity you are always going to be susceptible to their influence why would i hate on you for any reason because you have true but critical things to say about the veteran community that doesn't bother me if you do actually follow my show then you should know that i'm also very critical of the community at times the truth is the truth and should never be hidden why do you feel the need to tell me that you didn't read my book and then further emphasize that you won't what reaction are you hoping to achieve from me by saying that i hate to break it to you but it has no impact on me i wrote the book as an attempt to have a positive impact on the world around me. I've received hundreds of emails from people thanking me for doing so and letting me know that they found it at a time when it made an immense impact on their life. I know that I can never please everyone, and I am making no attempt to do so. There is little to no money in book publishing, at least not for the author. I wrote the book for impact, not for money. I suspect that every generation feels it is smarter and more evolved than the ones before it. There is nothing new there. Depth of belief and validity of belief are not connected. Only time will tell if your statement is true. So, a few things. Hold on. I have to go back to the actual email itself because I do think it highlights some stuff. As a consumer of content, Michael, you listen to other podcasts, right? Sometimes. Not really, honestly, but I do. I have. As the listener. As the listener, if it's an established platform, and let's use the two examples. Somebody who thinks that Bigfoot was laser transported somehow by Raytheon and then a veteran the next day. I don't know what some people's expectations are from the host. I think there is certainly a line, and it comes down to people will say, well, why would you platform that individual? In platforming them, it would or can appear that you are inherently or tacitly supporting their message or you agree with them. And I can understand why some people would say that. Or you could look at it and say the host is not responsible for the beliefs of the person that they are sitting down and having a conversation with. They're responsible for facilitating the conversation. Listen to what the person says, pushing back as they feel it's appropriate, or engaging the conversation as you feel it's appropriate. Yes. Because I'm here to tell you that there's no way that any host ever can be 100% completely read in on everything that's going to come up on an episode, especially when it's long form. Yeah. And so I just want to caution people, specifically when it, as I mentioned in the email, if you are looking for a podcast host or a show host, you're going to want to look for a host that knows everything. You're going to want to look for a host that knows everything. That knows everything about the person that they're going to bring on. I'm here to tell you that it's just not possible. As somebody who creates content, you can't do it. You can know the broader, larger wavetops. And also, as a host, it doesn't mean that you support what the person is saying. You are in the room for this. We have a recorded episode right now. Yes. That will be released in a few weeks. And I'm not going to say that I was mad during that episode, but I was definitely frustrated by some of the things that I was saying. By some of the things that were said. And there is a vast difference in the beliefs of the individual talking about what they were talking about in my own personal beliefs. Yes. And you were in the room. I think I pushed back and challenged that guest more than any other guest that I have since you and I have worked together. That is true. Maybe ever. Probably ever. And I tried to do it as professionally as possible, but as intentionally and concisely as possible as well. Having that person on. Having that person on the show doesn't mean that I believe everything that they say is true. It doesn't mean that I believe anything that they say. But the topic, and I will leave the topic. I'm going to leave this broad and I apologize. People are probably wondering what the hell we were talking about. Well, the collapse of survival or of the collapse of society is largely what we were talking about and things associated with that and preparation around those things. I'm interested in that topic. And sitting down. And having a conversation with somebody, trying to develop a deeper level of understanding in no way, shape, or form means that I agree with what that person was saying. Yeah. And as the listener, I guess you are free to make whatever assessment you want, but not everybody has the same beliefs. Not everybody is out there trying to have a positive impact. There are 100% bullshit artists out there. There are 100% just bought in conspiracy theorists out there as a host of a show. I should be able to, if I maintain my morals and integrity and who I am and how I want to present the show, be able to sit down with somebody like that who I disagree with. And then literally the next day, we had a conversation with a veteran and talked about their military record. Now, I'm not going to say we went as far as transported there via time travel portal by Raytheon, but there was some divergence in beliefs for sure. That episode has nothing to do with the integrity of the next guest that is on the show. Yeah. I think you have to look at it. I think you have to look at it as an individual. It's an individual journey. Every one of them is an enclosed time capsule that I think you would be better served to view as that time capsule and not extrapolate out from that. Unless you feel that the host is malicious in nature or they are a bullshit artist in nature. And if that's the case, if you feel that way, why are you consuming the content in the first place? Right. You know what I mean? I can only be. I can only be myself. We record these episodes. We do the rendering. I hit upload and it goes where it goes. And I stay true to my morals. Take some agency in how you are receiving the information. And I would say that regardless of the type of information that you are consuming, whether that's social media, traditional media, whatever it may be, there is bias in all of those things, in bullshit artists, in all of those things as well, too. Just remember that. And even if somebody has a massive show. That doesn't necessarily mean that the people that they have on are 100% authentic or truthful. It just means they have a larger platform from which if they are not those things to have a negative influence. Yes. And as a human being, I mean, believe what you want to believe, but maybe be slow in getting into your beliefs and realize that maybe, yeah, you're sitting down and a conversation goes in a completely different way. You're still having that conversation. I'm telling you right now. As the host of a show, you don't know which way they're going to go. Sometimes it's a little bit wild. Sometimes you're over there, you stop doodling and you start laughing because we don't know where it's going to go. But you do the best that you can. I think it's just sad that the last community that was really respected by all has this kind of integrity problem. I hate to break it to you, but the military or veteran community is not respected by all by any stretch of the imagination. And you really are hyper fixating and focusing on the things that you perceive to be negative. And you are completely leaving out the people who I think are. And you are living up to every ounce of that integrity. So that's just food for thought. It won't get fixed. There's too much profit in lies. I don't know if that's necessarily the case. The profit, I don't think, comes from lies or telling the truth. It comes from the size of the audience with which you are promoting your message to. The actual profit in this space, the podcasting space, is based off the size of your audience multiplied by the dollar figure that an advertiser is going to be willing to pay you. So it's not necessarily the lies. As it gets bigger, the numbers get bigger. And people who want to lie to a bigger audience will seek out the bigger shows. But there are plenty of examples of shows that are out there that have nothing to do with lying, that are huge, that are massive. And actually, as I say, that have nothing to do with lying, about 50% of the U.S. population currently would believe that it has to do with lying because they align on the other side of the political aisle. So, again, a little bit of hyper fixation. And you're speaking very hyperbolically. I addressed the book thing. People aren't joining because they are not because they are fat. It's because they're smarter and they know about the integrity problem. I wish I could have a conversation with this person. I wish you had put your actual email in there so we could go back and forth and I could get a better understanding of the data points that you are using. I feel like, for whatever reason, whatever was going on in your life, you wanted to send me this email and vent for a little bit, which, again, as I responded to, is totally OK. And I will engage professionally. I read you every word of my response, professional and 100%. 100% aspect of that. Throwing a message out and wanting to be in transmit only is a way to live your life. And if you want to live your life that way, go ahead. If you want to develop a deeper understanding of the world that is around you, engage in conversations with people. And for those of you who just want to reach out and get your point across and not allow for that two-way dialogue, again, live your life the way that you want to. But I think that's the technical definition of being a cunt. I think so. If you want to have a conversation, let's do it. Don't be a little bitch, though, and just try to be a child and say, this is how I feel, and then slam the door on your way out. If that's what you want to do, then do me a favor. he was too drunk yeah that's what i'm hearing i've seen enough yeah i've seen enough you know when you encounter random people i guess there are a lot and this i think is i'm making an assumption here in the law enforcement world which obviously this is body cam you if you encounter a random person i think there's a lot of unknowns when it comes to capabilities if you encounter dustin poirier yeah and he is telling you that he wants to fight you even though you can tell he's visibly intoxicated dropping his bag there are more knowns than unknowns at this point and you want to talk and i i can't speak as a anybody who is experienced in the use of force protocol for the police but this is not an unknown where you don't know whether or not they could do severe bodily damage to you yeah their capabilities you know exactly who this person is yeah you know what they do for a living you know their capability if you michael were the response you were the peace officer oh responding to this you recognize this person what does that do to your threat radar in your own head right there and he's talking about fighting yeah yeah so are you going to go hands-on with this person i would try not to probably not because the worst thing you could do would be let this man get a hold of you he probably would jump a guillotine he is fond of that very he is and i respect it and i respect the fact that his coaches were screaming at him in the middle of the round and on the bench in between yeah saying don't do that and he basically looked at them and said i'll never stop and then threw it again and i respect it it is really funny but what i mean you want to talk about putting the responders in a position where okay hands-on isn't going to work we're going to need a fleet of people to deal with this person so you're already escalating to your tool belt you've got taser and then you've got lethal yeah yeah it's a horrible place to be in and i and i don't know obviously dustin i don't know him at all i've never met the person never said a word to him he's not being the best expression of himself in this environment yeah i am sure if watching this back which i will assume he probably has he's probably had it sent to him by a few people i'm i'm sure that's going to be one of those moments where you feel sick to your stomach because that's not it's not who you want to be i'm again i'm making some assumptions i don't know him at all so not the best expression of who he would want to be i would hope that he in a moment of sobriety and objectivity and reflection later on would take a moment to realize the situation that he was putting these people in knowing how dangerous of a human being that he is yeah this is how that use of force continuum rapidly escalates because if you have a professional ufc fighter threatening to harm people to include officers yeah your options are now very limited yeah and i wouldn't want to be in that situation um and having said that hate to tell you buddy you're not that special you got kicked off a plane just like any other drunk person is going to get kicked off of a plane yeah and they're not doing anything to you because of who you are they are doing those things to you or not allowing you on because of what you did yeah i'm i have no idea how famous he is outside of the circles of mma i'd say he's very famous inside of those circles i don't know what that feels like i don't know how that changes your perception on the world around you but i'll just say this be better be better let's be better yeah i've never had this happen i've been the drunk asshole i've been the guy who was just not the person that i wanted to be by drinking too much i get it i totally get it i'm not saying i'm impervious to that for the remainder of my life i've never taken it this far and engaged in this manner in an airplane and with the cops there and i mean this is a very very rough look and i hope he takes it seriously this is a maybe not rock bottom but i hope he takes it seriously maybe not rock bottom but the elevator's on the way down and maybe we can find a nice foundation from there to work on and go forward how did it end um i think i mean they didn't fight because that would have made front page news i think another officer showed up and they were able well actually he calms down good i'm pretty sure he calms down yeah let's let's bump it forward just a little bit i mean look at that though like pause it yeah you hear the tasers already out yep i mean again postured up pre-violence indicators blowing up his fist this is stuff and again this is a professional fighter yeah if that taser doesn't work yeah or he misses and dustin gets on top of him or starts throwing kicks and punches what would be the expectation from the officer you just have to eat that yeah that's not gonna end well and if the taser doesn't work where are we going next and i know you and i both agree that all officers should train jiu-jitsu i don't think that's going to work i don't think that's going to work i don't care what belt this dude is this is not a jiu-jitsu class this is dustin poory yeah yeah yeah you did you I believe again, and this is, there's more knowns than unknowns. He knows what he's capable of. I think any court of law would view that. And this is a wild assumption, obviously, because there'd be a jury associated with it, but you can look at the man's volume of work. I think that would be considered a deadly threat against the officer for sure. And when an officer encounters that, you know, they don't have to just take that. They are allowed to respond. So I'm glad it didn't go that way. I'm glad he was taken into custody. Yeah. Got de-escalated slightly. Yeah. I love that. He asked, are you going to tase me, bro? Yeah. Yes, I am. Yes, absolutely. I'm not going to fight you. That's for sure. 100% going to shoot you right in the dick with this taser. What else you got? Wow. All right. And that did happen on Father's Day. That's a rough look. I mean, I'm not even going to dive into what might be going on in his personal life or what he was doing. Right. Yeah. Hanging out with his friends that day. I get it. Maybe they were on a guy's trip. Maybe the girls were on a girl's trip. I don't know. I'm going to completely stay out of that one. Man, I hope he learns from this. Yeah. I don't know. A U.S. service member arrested at Capitol after calling for Trump's impeachment. You see this? No. Is this recent? Yeah. This was, I think he just yesterday. Oh boy. On the steps of the Capitol building in uniform. And here's the deal. You still have the first amendment when you are a military service member, but you are restricted in certain areas of that. One of them is wearing your military uniform to any thing that could be considered a protest or an official event and things of that nature. So I would wager he knew that. 100%. Yeah. I would wager knowing nothing about it. I would wager he knew that. 100%. Yeah. And having been aware of, okay, let me read this for a second before I say that. U.S. Air Force major was arrested on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Wednesday after delivering a speech calling for the impeachment and removal of president. What were the charges? U.S. Capitol police, which confirmed the arrest said members of the public may not demonstrate on the steps of the house unless they are accompanied by a member of Congress. Okay. So the arrest itself seems like it probably had nothing to do with him being in uniform. However, he is going to face some UCMJ likely issues from that. Okay. And the point of that is, uh, actually hold on. He was escorted to the steps by a member of Congress who left the area lawful. They gave him a lawful order to stop the demonstration. Okay. So it's where he was demonstrating. That is where the arrest actually originates from. Okay. He was arrested for 22-1307 crowding, obstructing, or that's just the code. Okay, cool. Uh, keep going down. Okay. And here's the public dissent, uh, dissent within active duty military ranks is a rare, is rare as service members are required to follow orders in accordance with the uniform code of military justice, which criminalized contemptuous words against the president, vice president of Congress and other top officials under article 88. And this is what I was talking about here. Service members are also prohibited from wearing uniform while participating in political rallies. And so it seems as if he was arrested for the actual actions itself. He will face UCMJ issues for those two things mentioned in the paragraph. I am making an assumption. None of that was accidental. Two years in, you'll be in oh one to oh two, four years in, you'll be oh two to oh three, call it four at oh three. So that's eight, somewhere probably between 10 to 12 years. Generally considered mid-career middle management rank in the U S air force. Yeah. They may not be appreciated being called middle management, but if they're in a staff meeting with people who have stars on their uniform, they're getting coffee. That's a little coffee biatch. They're not treated that way, but they are in fact getting coffee for the admirals or generals. Choices have consequences. This isn't accidental. If you want to do that, take agency and ownership over what happens after that to your military career and your choice to do that. And if you are willing to do that, I have no issue with people who want to do this. Know what you're getting into. Don't pretend. Do not feign ignorance on this. There's no way you're a major and don't understand that. You took the time to put your uniform on. You took the time to plan this. You knew what your message was going to be. That's why it says in the UCMJ, you are restricted from these types of statements against, those in power in office and also will being in your uniform. So military service comes with consequences, obligations, and yes, you surrender aspects of the inalienable rights that citizens have, but you knowingly do that. So I don't know if it's bravery. I'll leave that to the viewer, the listener and their own beliefs, morals, integrities, whatever it may be. I don't know if you should have respect for it. Like I said, I'm not saying I have respect for this. I'm saying take agency and ownership over the actions. If you want to do this and you realize it's going to probably auger in your military career, that is your choice. Then when you become an O3, they give you another silver bar to go with your original silver bar. So there's two side by side. And the E just means prior enlisted. So I was an O3, lieutenant prior enlisted. Gotcha. Okay. So were you ever the guy that got coffees brought to him? No. No, you were bringing people coffee. Why would I not go get my own coffee? Even if I was a general, I would just go get my own coffee. And the way you win in a tech-heavy confrontation is by going as low-tech as possible. I don't know. Yeah. But the fact that both of those, the front-leading edge of technological warfare and also trench warfare essentially from World War I and II is going on in the same conflict. It's pretty crazy. It's pretty wild. I don't know where it leads. I don't know either. But I feel like I also think this is like maybe with the exception of some footage from Afghanistan and Iran or Iran, Iraq, this is like the most videoed and recorded combat like ever. And that will be the case moving forward just based off of a lot of things are basically sensor or camera-driven or optically guided. So, yeah, that's going to be the case.
