Chad Ochocinco & Ja'Marr Chase Talk Best Bengals WR Ever, Ja'Marr's TDs & Crazy Celebrations
1h 9m 4s
Ocho Cinco, a six-time Pro Bowler and NFL icon, shares a dynamic and entertaining conversation with Jamar Chase and Annie Agar on "Chasing No One." The episode begins with a vivid narrative of Ocho’s first meeting with Jamar—marked by his energetic, unapologetic style, including McDonald’s and a cigar. He then details a legendary catch against the Chargers, where he stumbled, lost sight of the ball, and still managed to make a successful play due to exceptional awareness and body control. Ocho emphasizes that such a catch is among his career-best, noting the rarity and difficulty of executing it under pressure. He openly discusses his one-eye condition, explaining how he lets the ball touch his face to see it clearly, a habit that has shaped his ball-handling. The conversation expands into broader themes of player culture, where social media has transformed how players interact, celebrate, and build legacies. Ocho highlights how trash talk and off-field antics—like his playful pranks on opponents—create memorable moments and deepen fan engagement. He reflects on authenticity, caution in decision-making, and the importance of personal expression over conformity, citing his career as a lesson in staying true to oneself. The episode concludes with a tribute to player connections, such as the bond between Ocho and Derrick Stingley, and the impact of social media, where fans and players now interact directly. Ocho’s legacy is framed not just by statistics, but by his boldness, humor, and unwavering authenticity in both performance and personality.
I knew you had some stuff going on in Houston after the game.
You got my mom's out in the club, bro.
I'm trying to get Jerry Jones shot.
Hey, this ain't the cheap Ocho no more.
I'm blind in one eye.
In my right eye, I can't see at all.
Man, this man is zoomed in.
I feel like I'm at the eye doctor.
OK.
Yo, what's good, everybody?
We're back with another episode of Chasing No One.
I'm your host, Jamar Chase.
I'm with my co-host, Annie Agar.
And we've got a special guest today.
Guys, please welcome Cincinnati Bengals icon, a six-time Pro Bowler,
2006 NFL Receiving Yards leader, the godfather of athlete social media,
and maybe the most electric entertainer in the NFL.
Guys, please welcome.
Ocho Cinco.
What's up, man?
Chilling, chilling.
You over there shining, huh, player?
Hey, you know, a little something, man.
You know that, hey, that, hey, you know a little something.
Hey, I got it.
I put you back on here again.
I got to put more jewelry on than you next time, man.
God damn.
All right.
Welcome in, Ocho.
Do you, now, Jamar, I don't know if you know this.
We met for the first time.
And this is my first impression of Ocho Cinco.
Keep in mind, it was like 7 a.m.
We had a work thing.
And this man comes walking in with McDonald's and a cigar.
And the biggest smile you've ever seen.
That's how you do it.
It was amazing.
It was the best.
That's right.
The best way, yeah.
Listen, after that performance, you know, Sunday, I couldn't wait.
I couldn't wait.
So, I'm glad to be here.
We got to talk about that catch.
What were your first thoughts, Ocho?
Well, for one, I'm in the stands.
I'm in the stands watching.
And the pass was to the right side of the field.
So, I was sitting on the Bengals' sideline, you know, right around the 50.
And I'm looking like, oh, man, the ball going out of bounds.
And then I hear the crowd go crazy.
And I'm looking.
I said, wait a minute.
He grabbed it?
Man, I looked at the jumbotron and saw the replay, man.
And my mouth just dropped open.
But one, because he stumbled.
You stumble on the back of his heels, right?
Yeah.
A little bit?
Yeah.
So, you know, once you stumble, it throws everything off.
So, the fact that he was able to 360, had the awareness to understand where he is on the field,
to be able to get his feet in, then make the catch,
and just being able to do all that in unison, it's about three people.
It's about three people in the league today that could be able to pull that off.
Everybody else would have stepped out of bounds.
And I don't think people understand how difficult that was.
Because once you slip.
You slip and lose sight of the ball.
Yeah.
Then, you know, Uno mentioned, hell, I lost the ball in the lights.
You can't see the ball.
I did.
Yeah, you can't see it.
Yeah, it was difficult.
It was the last second.
Who the three people is, though?
Who you got?
Jedis would probably be able to do that because he can fall and he can contort his body.
And he's not stiff.
He's very fluid.
Like, y'all fluid.
And y'all ball skills is elite because y'all are natural catchers of the ball.
Most receivers aren't natural catchers of the ball.
And probably.
Probably JSN.
JSN.
Everybody can't do that.
Because you lose momentum.
You lose your balance.
Then you gather yourself.
You lose the ball.
You catch the ball in the light.
And then you understand exactly where you are on the field.
Everybody can't put together like that.
I've seen JSN do a crazy route.
I've seen a crazy video of him running a fake Omaha.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That was nice.
That was nice.
Why he ain't getting double yet?
That's what I'll be trying to figure out.
Hey, you know what?
I got doubled on second and 10 by a linebacker in a corner.
Yeah.
Listen, that's definitely.
I really thought I was confused.
I thought I didn't really know what was going on.
I ain't going to lie.
It was.
That's nothing but respect, though.
And listen, y'all not even in y'all bag offensively anyway.
Y'all ain't in y'all bag.
It's coming.
And Zach is not moving around like they normally do.
You know, you're going out inside every so often.
Yeah.
But once y'all start.
Condensing the splits and, you know, putting you in motion and you coming out the back
field, they ain't going to be able to.
They ain't going to be able to.
It's going to come, man.
We.
You already know.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's going to get there.
Yeah.
That's what people are talking about with the Bengals.
You know, their defense is crazy with Dexter Lawrence.
But the offense hasn't.
Like you just said, the offense hasn't even been firing on all cylinders yet.
Like this is only week two, people.
And that's a good thing because we always start out the out the gate, you know, slow
offensive.
We start slow.
But defense this year, for some reason, look extremely good.
You know, not for some reason, but obviously with the additions that we made, you know,
in the offseason.
And obviously my favorite defensive player, Demetrius Knight.
Man, he's all over the place.
Every time I watch him, man, he flying all over the place and he pops out on film.
Man, they playing faster, man.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You can see it.
I said that beginning of the season, though.
I said beginning of the season.
I'm seeing it at practice.
Both of them.
Yeah.
Me and Barrett.
You know what I'm saying?
They both flying around now.
So they come with a little more confidence, too.
A lot of knowing what they're doing in their job.
Yep.
Like you just said.
So I come with that, too.
So back to that catch.
Oh, Joe, there was.
Did you see on Twitter?
A lot of people were putting the picture of your catch against the Chargers next to his.
That was pretty cool.
But his is much better because he went through a whole triple, triple somersault, triple
Lindy, lose the ball and then and then find it in the light, catch the lights, know where
you are.
My.
I was just a simple, simple out.
I understood what a, you know, what a what a line was.
And I just had to lay out for it.
So that was that was that was.
Look, before we go on to another subject about this, I know you had some stuff going on in
Houston after the game, right?
While I called my mom, you got my mom's out in the club, bro.
You got people outside in the club in Houston.
Hey, listen, every is called Chapman and Kirby.
I don't know.
I don't know if the entire city of Cincinnati came, but we feel like that, man, there was
only standing room.
There's only standing room and everybody was from Cincinnati, man.
That was so dope because it's been a very long time since I've seen that many of us
and one in under one roof and everybody having a good time, you know, celebrating that win.
And it was dope.
You know, Papa Chase, Papa Chase was there, too.
So I see.
Yeah, that's crazy.
That's fine.
I appreciate you taking it.
I'm out for a minute, man.
They don't do that.
Are you close to his parents or is that?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I come to one.
I come.
I go to two games a year.
I do one one away game and I do one home game and they allow me to sit in the box sometimes
when I do.
I don't I don't abuse it.
So I think I'm appreciative of allowing me to come to that one game because most people,
you know, once you let them in one time here, they try to come to all the games every time.
Yeah, because.
But, you know, I.
I do my one game and, you know, I thank them, you know, for allowing me to do that.
And that's pretty much it.
I know Bengals fans love how you're still connected with the organization and you still
go to the game.
And man, you're just like the biggest supporter.
I just love it.
I do have a question about this.
Do you have a catch?
Because we said this is catch of the year already.
Do you have a catch of your career that that gave you the feelings that you might be feeling
right now from this catch?
No, not because I really wasn't.
I wasn't good.
I wasn't good at 50-50 balls.
OK.
I wasn't good at like what he can do in high point the ball or tracking the ball.
I didn't.
I didn't.
My ball skills weren't like that.
Hell, for one, I had one eye.
I'm only I'm playing with one eye.
And if you ever watch my highlights ever again or just just notice clips of me playing, you
always notice I let the ball get close to my face so I can see it because I only have
one eye.
I'm like in my right eye.
Glasses.
No, I'm blind.
Am I right?
I can't see it all.
Like rest in peace to my mama.
I swear to God, nobody knows that.
But Chase, next time you look at clips of me, notice how I always let the ball get right
here and I catch it until it gets close to my face mask because my depth perception,
Annie, I can't see the ball coming until it gets close.
So you always notice I always I never catch it out here because I can't see it that far
until it gets right up on me.
If I run a slant, Chase, and I'm on the I'm on the let's say I'm on the on the on the
right side and on the right side and the quarterback to the left, I'll let the ball catch it.
I'll let the ball cross my face so I can catch it with my good eye.
So I'll let it cross my body, which is it's a bad habit.
You get over that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So because I can't see it and nobody ever knew it.
I mean, it's been like this in 1994, though.
So so next pass that you catch tomorrow, you got to cover one eye and I mean, maybe
there's some drills, maybe there's some drills.
You can try to do that, you know, ball distractions.
But it's bad.
Matter of fact, let me see something.
I always wear shades.
You can you see my?
Right eye.
It's all great.
Yeah, a little bit.
I don't know if I wouldn't.
I wouldn't be able to tell, though.
Man, you look like your eye.
OK, man.
Hold on.
Let me zoom in.
Let me see.
OK, come on, man.
You look like one of them sad dogs.
You can't see that.
Wait, wait, wait till I see it.
Wait till I see your person.
You'd be like, man, what the hell?
I got a cataract.
Bad.
These cameras good, but I can't see that right now.
Brother, I ain't going to lie.
Yeah, that's that's why I always wear shades.
Oh, yeah, because my right eye is really lazy.
And if I'm talking, it'll like go off to the right.
And I don't want to become a meme.
Yeah, well, no.
In this day and age, especially.
That's actually a great question for you guys, because it's the two very different time periods that you're playing in.
Jamar, you probably see it.
If something we just were talking about this with Caleb Blames, if something goes wrong, it gets memed instantly.
and it just takes over.
- I mean, this generation now,
it's a whole bunch of internet and social media involved you got lots of phones i was the last
generation where we didn't have phones you got yeah like i'm the last generation with that so i
grew up didn't have phones i was outside and you know the lights came on you had to go inside that
was you had to be on the porch i'm the last one last generation with that so after behind me
everybody else had cell phones they was on snapchats and all that so i didn't get on that
till like my senior year of high school with all that stuff you know do the players think about it
in the locker room now like they don't want to i mean become the next meme you can't control it
though yeah you can't control you can't control when you're gonna become a meme because you could
be yourself and it could be a meme you know what i'm saying yeah i and i don't partake in that guys
i don't share any memes or anything i mean chad you was a walking meme back in the day man i mean
sending pectobismol bottles to facilities and yeah yeah yeah so most stuff
i mean it's great pr though i give it to you you did it for i don't know if you did it for the pr but
it worked let's say that it was it was it was more more marketing and branding and also like
like trash talk all in one because i understood what it was gonna do it was gonna take off
and obviously i had to back up so i might need to send some pectobismol bottles this week you
yeah yeah do that do that do that do that do that yeah do that start saying you know i used to sing
i used to sing gifts the secondary all the time like little stuff
yeah what like you sponsored by uh fable how you say it fabletics yeah fabletics
if i was you know what i do i get a care package so we got the stealers coming up this week
i sent a care package the joey porter jr uh asante samuel jr you know some shirts you know
some some shorts just a little gift for you before i probably i'll do y'all in that way
they don't feel as bad when you yeah i'm picking up on the mojo i'm picking up on it
that's pretty good that's really good is there is there a player in the league and it could be
jamar but is there a player in the league that has your kind of off-field personality like you
were one of one yeah but but not so much trash just like ocho cinco like the kind of
off the field antics that he brought is there anybody that's like that today
not like that i was i was i was over the top with it i was like way you loved it
you be noticing anybody who'll be talking trash though no not really but sometimes
when y'all mic'd up but you remember you got to think on wednesday i did it i did it through the
media on purpose i used to call people out on purpose like y'all used to do that yeah i ain't
gonna lie they was doing they was blowing that up for me though bro i could i had to stop that's a
good thing that's what that's how you that's how you want it like you want them trying to hurt you
you want them trying to kill you knock your head off because then they're going to be playing out
of control why are you just chilling doing what you do oh you know what you got you know what you
got to do for me you got to recreate annie this is like the most i don't know how to say it most the
most bold thing to do like before the season started i think it was 2005 i put all the dbs
in my in my life i just was going to ask you about this yeah yeah that's crazy well that
that was hard to pull off boy so what you did was so what was the checklist like you just
all they had to do was stop me one time in the game if you can stop me one time
knock a ball down and you get a check by your name as you cover me oh hell no i'm not giving nobody
been for the doubt no hell no yeah so it was let me tell you something he he might get his one play
but i'm gonna get mine bro right right right get mine for sure yeah they get their little one play
in get their little courage up yeah let them let them have it that's it's cool i'm gonna get mine
bro yeah yeah definitely i just i don't know i just it was fun and it forced me to play at a high
level and just to let those dudes know throughout the week so what was the one db on that list that
that that gave you the most problems i tried to hurt you oh everybody tried to hurt me i you know
i think i had a bounty out for me every game chad you in a locker room talking talking trash every
every every wednesday bro i know but i needed it because i had it had to force me to play at
a high level i needed i needed that added pressure but there wasn't a specific any db that stuck out
um that year no because it was that year with champ and all them boys i i ain't seen nobody yeah
who it was so they already trying to take my head off which i can't be doing yeah yeah yeah yeah hey
you got it yeah they're already trying to trying to take my head off though that's a good thing
though that's a good thing i ain't ducking no smoke but i ain't finna get them them boys take
some creole team before the game and think they really doing something i'll be down i'll be down
that's dead bro okay okay okay okay i see you when i see you
you gotta pop when you see me i see you when i see you right right right i got you i do want to
out what you think of jamar's podcast because you had a show back back in the day now it's a lot
more common everybody's a podcast with t.o yeah with t.o yep yeah was that weird in the locker
room did people did people say like it was a distraction or they just didn't didn't even think
about it i think during that time because it was t.o because it was myself i think there was there
was really no backlash because you know when it mattered most uh we showed up on the field
despite us going forward 12 that year which was kind of awkward you know to have him and i on the
same team we went 4-12 but we still did we needed to do on the field so there was really no backlash
about what we did off the field mine it was on our days off and um you know collectively as a team we
didn't do well but we played okay so there's really no backlash and um most of the time media
pundits and these so-called experts will say oh it's a distraction when it literally isn't because
it's done on your day off and on your day off you should be able to to get into and do what you like
people love it too i think they want they want to hear about you know from jamar and not just like
in a media setting you know like i like it better now because the players have a voice yeah they have
a voice they can uh express themselves they where they want to linear television you know the huge
networks they don't control the narrative now you know they don't control the narrative so i i enjoy
that and you get to clean up all the mess and stuff you know what i'm saying but it's all on
how you approach it you know it's all on how you approach it most definitely yeah what have you been
up to oh joe what's what's going on in your life lately listen listen i'm trying to i'm trying i got
347 jobs right now i'm trying to get a 352 before the season ends um i want to buy a yacht oh okay
i want to buy yeah huh where at uh i'm trying to get jerry jones shot
are you really yeah hey this ain't the cheap ocho no more no i'm still cheap i'm still hey
hey who i love it though i love it i'm still cheating i'm still cheap look at my shirt
what does that say ain't nothing wrong with that is that wrangler wrangler oh i love it 20 bucks
sale rack ain't nothing wrong with that i think i have the exact same shirt for real what's wrong
with that i love wrangler you still go get the tees from the dollar store i mean from the front
store no my teeth from the gas station that's what i'm saying yeah you know how you know how
you know about that you remember me seeing you in miami oh yeah yeah yeah that's right
you're right i was doing the same thing yeah yeah the yts is perfect now occasionally you know you
know i i pop out you know pop it every day like once a month once a month that's enough we talk
about cars a lot of them in the show because jamar loves cars are you a big car guy you got
you had a pretty nice car yeah i had i had a nice collection when i was playing got it got in trouble
i you know i did the lambo the ferraris at least the bugatti you got in trouble wait wait what you
got in trouble for hold on oh uh when i have when i have a bugatti i you remember i tweeted well you
might be too young i got hit in the philadelphia game and i tweeted on the sideline in the middle
of the game and i told everybody don't worry about it guys i'm okay and then i got fined 25 000 and
that was part of my bugatti payment damn i ain't know nothing about that you remember what year that
was uh 2009 or 10. the tweet is still up the tweet's still up i wouldn't had that that young
but yeah i wouldn't know on twitter like that i wouldn't that's what i'm saying i wasn't on twitter
like that yeah that that tweet is literally still up i mean i got hit i'm about crushed that's the
biggest fine you ever had in the league 25k uh no um the 50 000 for the celebration yeah the
sombrero and poncho oh i remember that yeah um i remember that yeah i remember that yeah i remember
that yeah the hall of fame jacket was 30 grand um i forgot that that's classic though that's tough i
like that that's really that's that's hard though oh you know i i used to change my chin strap to
match my gloves and cleats remember sometimes i wear a black chin strap no i didn't i never know
i never noticed that yeah sometimes i wear orange chin strap so that was like 10 here 10 there was
that a part of like your rituals and stuff yeah depending on depending on who we playing or what
shoes i was wearing i want my chin strap to match and i just took it fine what do you think of these
guys doing these sellies now there it is don't forget the point you got a point so many people
don't know what it was don't forget the point with it it's it's spider-man no that's not spider-man
it's not spider-man it's people's elbow bro oh it is the rock from wrestling he did it differently
though we just added the okay okay okay he was always hitting him with the so we went right
okay i like that okay okay i'm with you we're gonna wrestle we on their head with it people's
elbow okay i like i like it i like it i like it i really enjoyed it a lot more than us though
what you talking about yeah yeah we went crazy they did a lot more look at marshall i think i
think we were worse with the celebrations remember that year now T.O. T.O. was crazy
Steve Smith had that year he went crazy with the uh with the celebrations and I was I was just I
didn't care but I wish the players today I wish somebody would push the envelope if I was playing
today I would push the envelope because there are certain rules that there are certain rules that
are not in place where you can celebrate and listen the NFL is all about fan engagement you
know listen if I can do celebrations and have Fabletics pay for this I would do it all right
just do this for me but it's certain it's it's a certain extent that I could go to
oh with the celebration no you can go you can go you can do this trust me you can go you can go
you can do this matter of fact I'm listening I'm chipping on the fine when you score when you score
all right the north and south end zone it doesn't matter which one you take a fan pull them out the
stands as fast as you can
you take a fan pull them out the stands as fast as you can
okay have them on the field with you and do the kid and play the kid and play yeah right I know
what you're saying with the feet right right right iconic is going down is the greatest celebration
in the history what a fan though what you get yeah you got you got to use a fan because listen
listen that's that's not implemented in the rule system it's not the rule system so you'd be the
first to do it nobody's done it you got to push the envelope they said we could celebrate well
it's all about the fan experience right so that's the ultimate fan experience and that's a cheat code
that's really smart actually still has got the still has got the uh the little hop over a little
thing in the front huh you think the fan to get thrown out by that though no no no no no absolutely
not especially not at the home game hopefully I could vouch if another opponent score on them and
I do that let's hope they don't kick them out not especially in the bingos uni you have to you have
to do it at home though and you have to think everybody everybody's walls tall though that's
that's a far back up you got to think the fans will help them will pull them back up maybe I'm
gonna do this but I'm gonna do it in some different style I mean I'm I got I got something I'm gonna
come up with something I got you yeah you got to pull the fan out of state I told you I'm gonna
pay your fine I got it you said half you said half well actually listen the fine can't be that
much because the rule is not even in place and it hasn't been implemented so you can't find
somebody for something that nobody's even discussed or talked about the NFL is all
about the fan experience they want fan engagement with players and I huh that's perfect you're not
lying though then you're not lying that's the best way to say it I'll talk to good day don't worry
about it talking about fans oh just go why do you have such a good relationship with the fans do you
think where does that come from I don't know I'm very personable very sociable very very very
approachable even though oh yeah I was the villain when I played and they they uh what's the word I'm
very very free but the media made me out to be the villain and I didn't get social media to the
back end of my career so everybody thought I was arrogant cocky and you know the the mainstream
media was able to control the narrative and me being the villain and I played into it so I didn't
make it any easier or make it any better so when people meet me in person be like man what the hell
you're nothing like what they made you out to be and I was like no that was merely a character
you know on Sundays I turn into that and then once I'm off the field I'm back laughing making
jokes and and that's that's it I love it too people I love that you have such a great personality
in sports would you change you think the perspective or the perception that people
have of you to be a different kind of player or do you like that that that you built that and
that was the player you were I like it man it wasn't even that was just me though you think
about it if you watch if you watch me on nightcap the jokes the laughing it's the same way I played
the game yeah it's the exact same person so I wouldn't change the NFL tried to get me to
form by finding me and that's the one way that they can control us they understand they think
well they think you know most of us we do obviously they think we value money you know the most but for
me I was gonna make money regardless whether it was with you guys or somewhere else so I'm not
gonna allow you to control me just because you're taking my money so I'm gonna keep having fun and
play the game listen the way I played NFL is the way I played in high school the way I played
NFL is the same way I played in college but when I was a little kid on peewee that's what I grew
up watching so therefore am I supposed to change now that I'm making no that's it's not it doesn't
work like that even my first time me and you always was the same even till now you know I'm
saying I always kept it real and shot you was more excited to meet me than I met you the first time
I felt like if I'll be honest man I was hyped I was hyped but are you serious it's so funny
is I look at them I look at Chase and I look at T and Jason and Devante like
I view them as if I've never played the game of football before and it's like I look up to them
which is weird which is why which is why I had uh I had my receiver camp one year
and they actually showed up I didn't think they was gonna show up because I'm like well hell I
ain't played football in 15 years like I am I am of no value to them any anymore you know at this
time Annie dog I had to like say thank you and I could barely get it out I could barely get out
I'm crying I'm crying like oh I can't believe these dudes showed up man I look when it was
when we first met what game was that that was that um was it that all-white game yeah we had
the all it was it I'm not sure it might have been uh Rams game I think okay at home oh was it I can't
remember I can't remember I can't remember either but but what was your first impression
you know I'm saying when you finally met me you know I'm saying especially after after everything
yeah you know what I'm saying then we finally met yeah I was like he cool he cool a little quiet
a little a little quiet you know reserved yeah smooth and um just just just watching you play
like man I wish I could do some of that because oh with the ball in your hands ain't no telling
what the hell finna happen and that that was not my thing because ain't nobody tell you not you're
not hitting me if you hit me you better catch me in the air yeah but you're bouncing off like
linebackers and stiff and safeties and like splitting the seam up man nah I had to make
business decisions you's possessive catching huh yeah man like they're doing mad now uh-uh yeah
bingo I can't I can't I just my body isn't built to be able to withstand it's not really punishment
just you're able to like play through contact you used to lift in NFL like you used to lift
for real you used to like I live by you know I'm I'm strong like I live by I bitch about four or five
315 so when you hit Ray Lewis that time you had to crack him that time you was lifting weights at
that time yes but I tripped over my shoestring so I lost I lost my leverage that shit is on video
I know listen it's on video chase but then you was mic'd up right when you mic'd up yeah they
mic'd me up every game even if we not on tv I'm just mic'd up because ain't no telling what I'm
gonna say but I tripped over my shoestring and so that's what it caused me to lose trajectory Annie
you know it's all about low man wins that was the hardest you ever got hit no I got the hardest you
ever got hit that you remember I got knocked out um knocked out like you went black out cold oh
out cold my helmet went flying uh Brian Russell Cleveland Browns on a slam route we up we winning
the game I'm not sure why we're throwing the ball with two minutes to go in the game and Carson the
ball slipped out his hand a little bit me thinking I'm Shaq I jumped for the ball anyway Brian Russell
hit me in the head and I was like oh my god I'm not gonna do it again I'm not gonna do it again
me right up under the chin and knocked me out cold yeah that's why I was on the field out cold like
this I ain't see this one it's a good thing they don't show this one yeah they yeah they probably
they probably won't show it yeah I ain't never seen that what about you Jamar what's what's your
hardest hit in the game um in the NFL I ain't I ain't been hit that hard but um I sure have
tried to block Fred Warner one time and almost lost my breath you know what I'm saying so
and he and he jumping uh the counters and and the tosses he reading it out before the play even
started he getting over the topic immediately right oh that crack and that track blocking
nothing telling you don't want to do that oh that's crazy that's all I got on him though I
ain't I ain't taking too many hits I know how to protect myself now we're gonna say that that
Ray Lewis hit I mean it wasn't that hard I'm kind of acting a little bit because after after the hit
like that I came right back and I had the touchdown when I put on the hall of fame jacket that's the
same game that's the same game yeah you crazy i hope you're gonna write a book of all this stuff
because it's amazing that's the same game yeah what what's like the craziest thing you think
you've done where you look back and you you even you can't believe that you did that oh probably
when i proposed to the cheerleader on the sideline when i proposed to the cheerleader on the sideline
i think i remember this i hope you lost the bet to do this no no no it was just i told the i told
little lady, I thought it was going to be, I thought it'd been funny since nobody, I
mean, I was thinking of stuff to do because they told me I can't celebrate on the field
anymore and I can't use props.
So I started taking everything to the sideline after touchdowns.
And then they made the rule, okay, now you can't do it on the sideline.
After I tweeted, you know, I had my phone on the sideline during the game, which is,
I don't know.
I was, I was, I was on some, on some other.
Yo, you was on some other stuff, dog.
Like literally on some other stuff.
I was, I was having fun, man.
Oh, Annie, when I, um, it was Christmas, we were playing the bills and I took, um, I took
a skinny.
skinny route to the house and i i had um the santa bag i had the santa bag two ball sign uh two hats
and two shirts and they were already signed and i pulled it out and threw the sign stuff to the
fans after that's fire i like that that's a good one you never saw that one no no i ain't never
seen that i think i remember that it's so funny as you're talking i remember you know like my
parents talking about it or you know they find you for that yeah yeah because again i had props
even though when they started setting the rules for the touchdowns right with the no props and
probably 2005 when when to me to and steve smith was just going back and it was od yeah oh yeah
we're going we're going super od so i gotta think i gotta think the ogs like like y'all three there
yeah i was gonna ask if it was you guys or you that you thought that's why they changed the rules
yeah they they changed they changed i think they changed them after that 2005
season because it was it was it was crazy it was crazy i was the the pom-pom the sharpie with t.o
where he uh signed the ball and gave it to the fan he had to play with a shot how can you play
with a sharpie in your sock yeah that's crazy i ain't gonna lie how many touches you had that year
oh i i didn't i i was i never scored a lot i don't think i don't think i even had five months
yeah yeah it might have been nine yeah yeah so your career high is nine probably nine or maybe ten
yeah that jump that jump boy it was hard to score bam shoot man i mean back in the day them boys
really was y'all ain't had no con no concussion protocol no no head to head i understand i mean
no disrespect to us we we were we were we were a good team but it's not like i was you know in
indianapolis or i was you know with the the rams where they're just i mean it's different
different organizations you know so i had to do the best with the cards i was dealt you know at
that time did it feel like when you were doing all this stuff it was a kind of a performance you had
to keep i mean you said it was you out there but then then once the fans started liking it did you
feel like you had to keep upping it it was just entertainment this is this is football it's the
nfl it's an entertainment business i understood that that entertainment understanding that i had
back then is the reason i'm still relevant 15 20 years away from the game right i'm no longer any
part of the nfl but i'm still on the um streets the street game yeah on the cover yeah what game
that was man what year that was nfl street three i don't know who that was oh yeah yeah yeah you had
the mohawk the blind mohawk huh no i had a bald head then with a mouth full of goals bro didn't
you have a blind mohawk i did yeah that would think that was 2006 season what the hell were
you thinking i don't know i don't know what i was doing i don't know what that was oh six probably
oh six i think it might have been oh six so so you was telling me you was on some odell stuff
don your hand all that stuff too yeah my nails was black i did all that your nail you paint
they paid y'all for that streets that streets thing the streets yeah yeah yeah yeah damn we
got we gotta get that back dog yeah that was that was dope that was that was the best game
they ever made bro you don't like what about men you don't like men
bro you cannot beat streets bro you can't be okay okay okay that's like def jam okay you're right
i got you i see what i see what you mean that's what i'm saying that's like og that's original
yeah you're big you're big gamers both you right kind of yeah i'm huge you actually be on my that's
so funny that you said that because he be in my twitch stream when i'm playing the game right
randomly just give me a just say something in chat randomly yeah i play and i sit there and
i'm on twitch too really easy yeah i knew everything yeah i got tired of it man i'm tired
it's i got i'm straight on it i got i can't play it too much now before we let you go because you've
been with us for a little bit i want to talk reflect on your bangles career a little bit
hall of fame um do you think the hall of fame uh delay maybe because obviously you should be there
is is anything to do with your off the field stuff or your personality or anything like that
i didn't i didn't i didn't care yeah
i know i don't care i understand what the hall of fame means yeah i understand it's the highest
the highest honor for someone that's played nfl but i conducted myself in a way and i'm never i've
never been one that needed validation yeah i've always marched to the beat of my own drum and
strategically when i caught i caught a pass against the ravens um on that monday or thursday night
whatever it was and i put on that hall of fame jacket to me whether they felt like it or not
i felt i was
hall of fame worthy and i thought i had crossed the 10 000 yard mark and nobody knew why is he
doing it all of a sudden this game and to me like oh cool i crossed 10 000 yard mark i'm gonna put
on this jacket and boom i'm hall of fame because i already know the game they're gonna play once
i'm done if i want to play politics i would have been a politician i love that so i was good i
don't i don't need it i've never needed notoriety i will never give those who are part of the hall
faction of knowing that not that i care and that i'm begging to be in i will never never never beg to
be at somebody's table when i can make my own hey whatever it take to play at your best in that
moment you do that at the end of the day that's what matters that's what i did that's i asked my
peers if i'm hall of fame worthy that's what i asked the coaches that had to stop me ask the
dvs they had we all think you need to be in a man we already know this i'm good i'm good i'm good
annie i'm good on it but i do you are already in our eyes i do i do respect the honor you know for
those that do want to go in there you know it is dope you know what it stands for what it means
but i'm i'm good i kind of like my iconic one of one fake hall of fame jacket what do you think
what do you think the legacy is that you like what will people remember you by other than
all the fun entertainment stuff he did everything his way yeah he he refused to conform to how they
said he was a man he refused to conform to how they said he was a man he refused to conform to
how they said he was a man he refused to conform to how they said he should be
he was authentic to himself and he knew how to play the game within the game because it is the
nfl but a certain game you have to play i played the game really well and i'm not talking about on
the field i played the game really well without crossing over the line if you get what i'm saying
you get it if it was one thing you would have future athletes to learn like if you could teach
future athletes to learn from your game from what you've been through what would it be being financial
savvy understanding that the value is is you and your name alone um and the mistakes because my
career ended because of a mistake it ended it ended what 11 years i should have played
because i never got hurt i should have played well into 15 16 17 whatever it may be but just
be more cautious of the people you surround yourself with um and and be be
conscious you know of your decision making because you know three seconds of anger cost
me a lifetime's worth of work and i've listened i've been able to you know be blessed to be given
a second chance and yeah that's that's it those two things man just yeah be conscious right there
i appreciate that one yeah talking to me and everybody else listening i can see that in jamar
too like he's got it figured out i feel like financially and i think a lot of these guys
have to now with nil and all that but just to hear that from you and hopefully if you
in the future we'll listen to that as well but that's it that's a huge part yeah but you see i'm
a little bit extreme don't be as cheap as i was don't don't be that bad i went to the extreme
with it the mcdonald's and the cigars and you know this i went to i mean if you did you did a lot of
treatment when you're eating like that huh you did a lot of treatment when you was eating like that
no that's a good question i did cold tub hot tub well then i don't i don't like massages i don't
like people then again but i gotta think about it you know back in the day y'all didn't really do
treatment at all y'all would throw ice on it and think the shit was
ice and stem and call it a day but i got i got lucky i got lucky while i was playing i never
honestly bro if y'all y'all generation could have probably been 10 times way better if y'all had
more like help with pain injuries and you know i'm saying shit in the building right right you
know now it's it's a lot more of advanced electronics and stuff involved with with us
and tracking a football and hand-eye coordination right right so a lot of y'all
would have been i would have been different back in the day if y'all had any of this man
yet a lot of injuries are happening this week case in point i'm trying to i'm trying to get
him hey listen come to my nutrition my nutrition class there you go what that is what that is
mcdonald's it's in a mcdonald's i was gonna say it's in a mcdonald's parking lot
yeah sausage mcdonald's add cheese huh
absolutely what's your jamar do you like mcdonald's what's your what's your mcdonald's
order
that's what i go get sausage mcdonald's add cheese yeah kale maffrap a you know i'm saying i might get
two of them get the hash brown slap the hash brown on the mcdonald's donald's slept on man
there's a reason why he's the greatest bangle receiver of all time huh
let's go i love it hey at one point i was really ordering it every day though bro i ain't gonna lie
like maybe that's the key look at you two you know i've always been a mcdonald's head though i
just i didn't slow down a little bit on it because i'm gaining a little weight i can't
oh it doesn't show it doesn't show at all man you go i don't know how long back we always hanging
out you always telling me good stories yeah if you could give me a good story about us uh
something that i i don't know let's say there's something i don't know right give me a story that
you haven't told me that you could tell me now and the rest of the people watching this a good
story i need more context pg-13 okay oh okay okay okay pg let's keep it pg let's keep it pg
that's a good start that's a good start
never know who watching this never know who watching this okay i just i just give me some
just give me the crit but if i give me the craziest moment you had an nfl with trash talking
or like something i'm gonna fight on the field or something like that it's a good one
oh
seen you i'm so glad you said that yeah we're playing we're playing the baltimore ravens again
we're playing them we were playing at home i think it was early in my career it might have
been 2003 and or or linda brown uh junior right his dad okay dad is out there warming up huge
and me being playful ocho his dad is out there warming up i go and jump on his dad's back at
the time like literally like jump on his back like ah playing around annie and i'm like oh
i'm laughing you know joking yeah and i get down and he turns around do i look like i'm some
fucking joke to you you look whoa i'm like whoa whoa i said man i'm just playing zeus i'm just
playing you say i'm not a joke i'll fuck you up and he started chasing me around the field
i thought he would before the game this is in the pre-game like pre-game you know you come out and
warm up you do your stretches your jfos on yeah dude i had the running i had the no any all jokes
aside ask ask orlando about it i had to run inside i had to get willie anderson i right tackled at
the time i told willie i say willie man zeus trying to beat me up i said are you serious
willie had to walk me back out the locker room so i could finish my warm-up so he would try to
fight me you're kidding he was actually definitely about to ask orlando about eddie he was for the
whoop my you know what he doesn't play if you if you do your homework on on on zeus you know
orlando brown's dad man he didn't play it
i didn't i didn't know that you know most of the dbs understood no it's light-hearted but like he
was like nah man i don't know you like that and i didn't know what position he played he was a left
tackle or right guard right guard he played same same position same tackle yeah yeah he was huge
like six seven i took out man oh man i i was just playing around but he was dead that's a good one
though i ain't gonna lie that's a good one yeah that's good to know because you don't you just
think like you said everybody's just out there having a good time
but yeah i mean yeah he took it too serious yeah you don't know who being for real
you'll never know some people taking that stuff to heart man you know yeah yeah like you're doing
all that trash talk you send the pepto-bismol bottles they warming up trying to kill ocho the
whole time that's probably why you should just send him a gift basket and then it'll be good
you know do it so you ain't sending them to the locker room that that week no no but i only send
it to the secondary so it's only four people oh yeah well safety strong safety in the two corners
yeah i can't
you gotta try it i'll tell you you you use your sponsors and endorsements is use use of that gifts
i'm talking about that game plan really gonna be crack your head telling you that game plan
really gonna be c1 crack ahead yeah i like it awesome well thanks so much i was just thinking
for coming on we appreciate it it's so great so great to have you on of course man appreciate you
bro thank you man well guys uh what a week it's been for jamar and bangles
all over uh how are we feeling jamar it's been a little different week than last week huh
oh it's feeling good it's feeling good i got my first touchdown finally got that out the way i
appreciate joe and zach you know what i'm saying so but what about that defense we had oh man we're
gonna get into that too because i want to know how you guys are feeling about that uh it's looking
pretty good that that dexter lord's trade's looking like it might have paid off people
but he was everybody was a little worried but no i love it um is there a different vibe i mean
two wins one is a win but is there a little bit of a different vibe when the offense seems like
it's clicking like you got two tutties after two catches last week like is it a different vibe this
week or are you just happy that it's a win uh i'm really just happy that it's a win at the end of
the day i mean i'm always trying to touch the ball make some magic work you know i'm saying
make something happen for the team but you know i'm saying i'm trying to do whatever i could take
so yeah well i mean we love to see it you you called out the fantasy managers last week so
that was good that was good they're happy to see you and i'm happy to see you and i'm happy to see you
this week um okay let's let's get into it because everybody wants to know we saw the pressers we saw
the catch but this was probably and everybody in my comments was saying i gotta be a bangles fan
now because this is maybe i mean it's catch of the year and it's week two guys so uh i want to
talk about it we'll get into the whole breakdown of the texans game but that catch jamar what
happened in that moment you talked about it after the game you said you didn't really know what was
going on it was kind of a go ball joe just threw it up well i mean what walk through it give it a
little bit more insight into what that catch was once i seen a video after the game was like really
how it went down you know i'm saying i didn't i didn't realize i was stumbling and stuff um
but it ended up being a good play like overall just being in a good position um stingley had
the perfect position he was in front of me and when he tripped you know i'm saying we both lost
position and i ended up looking up and finally seeing the ball out of the light and just turning
and trying to make an adjustment i honestly didn't know where i was at on the field if i'll be honest
because you see on video as soon as i got up the first thing i did was look at the ref trying to
figure out if i scored or not because i didn't know i didn't know what where you know i'm saying
i just was hoping that i was you know i'm saying inbound so it worked out pretty perfectly i'm not
gonna lie yeah the body control is just crazy and i mean that's one of the things you're known for
but just to have the whereabouts to know that you're gonna get your you know drag your feet
it's crazy but was that probably one of the better
one of the best catches of your career would you say or um for sure yeah i would say definitely up
there that's definitely up there is there some good catches too yeah i was gonna say is there
a catch that's that sticks out as like this is this is up there this is the one i may only had
that one hand in the super bowl i wish i could have scored that yeah you know i'm saying i think
that's one of my favorite catches you know you always used to be a kid in the backyard trying
to do one hand odell catches that was my that was my one of them
love it um derrick stingley did he say anything to you after that catch because you guys have a
history yeah no we we really wasn't um actually talking at all for real usually me i usually say
something to him but i think we say what's up like early in the beginning of the game you know
i'm saying he smiled at me had his grills in so i ain't sitting i just walked off started laughing
at him and then um i think after that touchdown later in the game we i think it was like the last
third down when i was in um joe got sacked
and then um he kind of knew i think he knew me me and joe was about to go after him one more time
and uh after the play we started laughing at each other he was like i already knew man i already
know but you know stingley definitely a good matchup all the time man he's definitely playing
a little different um different type of style of play now in houston but he's definitely a great
player that second touchdown what what happened on that play was it kind of the same thing like
joe um pretty much scrambled drill yeah my scramble drill you know i'm saying yeah it's on point and
he just ended up seeing me you know i'm saying he could have picked anybody we talked a lot about
that when he was on the pod just the connection you guys have is it such a trust i mean obviously
there's plays scripted out but is it you guys just know each other so well that he points and
you know where to go um honestly i didn't even see him point if i'll be honest you know i'm saying
i probably turned my head just to try to see like what the defense was doing or what like what like
how can i slither through the back end or something like that so i really didn't see him point but i
just be trying to stay in phase with him you know i'm saying i'm just trying to stay in phase with him
because joe always breaking tackles man making a pocket move and just keeping the play alive so
you never you never know what he's doing yeah speaking of joe uh there was a lot of question
marks around his health this week and every time that there is a tweet about something relating to
health with joe but he freaks out as as understood um but what did he say anything to you about it
or that it was a back tightness he had some back tightness so everybody was panicking i mean it
he could be jumping off the field with one leg and because his cleat ripped and everybody gonna
think it's something yeah that's right you know i'm saying it's it's how everything's always
blown out of proportion at the end of the day with bro but um i can't really speak for him and
how he feel at the end of the day i just know he just played in the game and got through the game
at the end of the day so that's what matters at the end of the day he's he's a pro he knows his
health but i'm always be there for him at the end of the day if he if he if he say he's fine he's
fine you know i'm saying but um i can't speak for him man but at the end of the day he finished the
he was good and gotta keep going from there all it is is just treatment from here um okay one of my
favorite things that we have to talk about your celebration now i we're gonna throw back to when
t was on the show i think you guys i think that's what you guys were referencing because you guys
had a little uh inside joke there and you said wait till you guys see my my celly at the end of
this touchdown the first touchdown um a lot of people didn't know what it was i've been hearing
a lot of stuff actually
bro i've been getting tagged in so much stuff saying i got fined already that i've seen that
i was wondering if the nfl knew what was
going on I mean I don't even know what's going on at the day I don't think they rush I don't think
they watch wrestling if they watch wrestling they need to go watch the rock uh people's elbow you
know I'm saying if y'all don't know what that is that y'all go yep you know I'm saying we just
adding our own flavor to it now so I don't think y'all realize what's really going on even McAfee
on his show he said he didn't know what the celebration was and I was talking to our producers
before I came on, one little Google search
or just type your name into Twitter
and it'll come up a million times what it is.
So, guys, you got to do your research.
I mean, you know they're going to do their own thing.
Like I said, they're going to blow it out of proportion.
It's like they want me to get fined right now.
I'm not even going to lie.
I've seen so many stuff with me getting tagged
and just saying I got fined.
It's different.
It's a weird world.
Actually, BJ Hill and Dexter helped with that celebration,
to be honest.
Yeah, yeah.
So, shout out to those guys with those cellies
because we'd definitely be hitting it.
And then we'd be on the sideline
and everybody else on the sideline like this, too.
Yeah.
And when we pause it on film,
it's like four guys on the sideline.
They all hitting it.
We're like, yeah.
I know every graphic I saw of you is that celly.
Do you think kids are going to do it now?
I'm all over.
I mean, why not?
I mean, it ain't nothing crazy.
Go ahead, have fun.
As long as you're having fun, that's what it's about, man.
They're trying to take it.
As long as we're having fun,
playing football, that's how we're going to win.
Absolutely.
Well, you said a lot of people tagged you in things.
I saw on my end a lot of former players
and current players were, quote,
tweeting your touchdown catch and talking about it.
Mike Micah tweeted out and said, it's insane.
And then AP tweeted out.
I did see Micah.
Yeah, that was cool.
Adrian Peterson said,
that's probably the best catch I've ever seen in my life.
The adjustment to be stumbling,
to track the ball, to drag your feet.
Like, I don't think I've seen a better catch than that.
That was amazing.
Amazing.
Is it cool to hear guys like that,
that you either look up to or just play?
Yeah, facts, facts.
I remember, shout out Mike, shout out AP.
I remember growing up,
I always wanted to play like Adrian Peterson,
play with him on Madden.
And I'll never forget my first time meeting him.
Man, he shook my hand so hard.
I didn't know if my hand was weak or was I like,
you know what I'm saying?
Because some people think that's disrespectful.
Some people think, you know what I'm saying?
So I didn't know what was really going on.
But that dude shook my hand so hard.
That was the first time.
The first time I met him, I was like,
damn, what the hell?
That's wild.
That's definitely love coming from them though.
I'm not going to lie.
So shout out AP.
It's a strong man.
It is cool to see.
It's got to be cool for you
because now with social media,
you can interact with all these players
and they see all your stuff.
And back in the day,
you'd know that they'd see it,
but they wouldn't be able to interact with you.
And now as a fan, we get to see that too.
But I just thought it was cool.
Like Micah is my guy.
And to see him give you mad props was really cool.
Yeah, Micah cool.
Me and Micah be hanging out too.
AP, let me get a jersey.
By the way, actually.
I'm going to get one of those jerseys.
Come on.
If you really like the catch, give him a jersey.
Let's get a trade off going on.
Okay.
Let's talk about that game a little bit.
Like we talked about the defense.
Crazy.
Dexter Lawrence.
Amazing.
What are you guys talking about with that defense?
Man, I just round of applause for the defense one time.
Please, man.
Just thank you.
Honestly, I love what the Bengals did.
Just giving us help overall with the defense.
And just making adjustments going forward this year.
It's definitely showing, you know what I'm saying?
That we've had an improvement somewhere.
And that's what we were trying to do.
And I think after the game, when I finally got a chance to look at all the highlights
and seeing who did what and how it happened, Dexter is a bad guy.
That dude is really, really a bad guy.
And I can't wait to see this full mic'd up thing that the Bengals got with him.
Because apparently he talking trash in this video.
I can't wait to see.
Because I heard he talk some stuff now.
That's wild.
I can't wait to get him on here one time.
Oh, I'd love that.
We need that.
After that fourth down stop, to have him on this pod would be insane.
Just to hear what he had to say about it.
Not yet, though.
Not yet.
Not yet.
Not yet.
We'll save that.
We'll save that for you guys.
Okay.
I do want to point out that you and Joe Burrow became the fourth, only the fourth, QB wide
receiver combination in NFL history.
To record 50 scoring connections before both players turned 30 years old.
Did you know that?
Oh, wow.
Isn't that crazy?
There are three other groups.
Do you want to see if you know who they are?
I don't know what your. Three other groups?
Three other quarterback wide receiver duos that have done this as well.
Damn, I can't. I'm going to just throw it out.
A-Rod, Devontae?
Nope.
That's a good guess, though.
I mean, I would have thought that, too.
Tom, Randy?
Yeah, because he's older.
Randy, but not Tom.
What is it?
Brad Favre?
No.
A little bit.
It was with Minnesota.
He was with Minnesota.
I don't know who his quarterback was, though.
I wouldn't. I don't know who his quarterback was.
Cole Pepper.
Dante Cole Pepper.
Yeah, I don't. I see.
I'm too young for that.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, too.
Yeah, I'm too young for that.
I don't know.
The other two were Dan Marino and Mark Clayton with Miami, and then John Hadle.
And Lance Allworth, which that's before my time.
I definitely don't know that.
No.
It's the Chargers.
We don't care about them.
Okay.
Pittsburgh this week.
It's a big week for Bengals fans.
They tend to hate each other.
What does your week look like when you head to Pittsburgh and all that?
It's a usual week.
It's not a usual week.
Just a different opponent.
Still got to attack it the same way.
Still got to watch the film, make adjustments.
It's the same stuff every week.
You just got to be a pro, move on, make adjustments.
Different team.
So it's a fast transition.
Yeah, it is.
I think the biggest thing with the Steelers, too, is Joey Porter Jr.
and that whole holdout thing with his counter.
Because everybody's like, well, who's going to guard you guys?
They got Dean and Asante Samuel at cornerback right now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Pittsburgh's defense is, I mean, they should be pretty good.
Their offense is the issue.
I don't know what he got going on, but I'm sure he want to play us.
Yeah.
I'm already knowing he want to play us.
Oh, yeah.
Absolutely.
He probably going to make a decision by game time.
If not, then you're going to see us around the second game.
Do you talk to Aaron Rodgers at all?
Nah, I never did.
But I think I wanted to ask him for the jersey after the first game.
We played him, bro, but he wasn't buying that shit.
Really?
He was not trying to speak.
Yeah.
I wonder if he, I mean, he's got to be just like that.
That's his kind of personality.
I fuck with A-Rod.
He cool.
He cool.
Yeah, he's cool.
He always been cool.
I always, you know what I'm saying?
Watch the highlights and shit.
I always wanted a jersey.
Yeah.
I wanted a Green Bay jersey, though.
I know.
I'll work on that.
That's my. Green Bay jersey.
That's. Man, that'd be sweet.
What would be the one jersey?
Is that it?
The one jersey you'd want the most?
No.
What would you want?
The one jersey I want the most?
Yeah.
Ooh.
That's hard.
I know.
That's a tough question.
You put me on the spot.
You can't do that right now.
How about this?
What jersey do you currently have that's your favorite?
I don't have a favorite jersey.
I got. I got so many jerseys in here.
I got jerseys.
I got all my LSU guys that I play with, LSU wear, everybody up in the house right now.
Yeah.
So, they all up in the house.
Everybody else, I still got them in boxes.
I got a Steph Curry jersey.
Not going to lie.
I got that when he played.
I got that when he played against New Orleans at home.
I went to the home game.
He gave me that one.
That was pretty tough.
So, that was fire.
I know people would like to know because as a fan, you know, we don't know how this works.
How do you guys organize that?
Is this like negotiated before or is it just in the moment kind of thing?
No, I have never did it before.
The only person that texted me before the game was Micah.
Okay.
Cool.
Actually, yeah.
Micah texted me before the game, asked me for one.
But usually, I usually ask after the game.
So. Yeah.
If they take too long, I'm going to ask them.
If they take too long, I'll definitely text them on Instagram and be like, bro, send me
the jersey, bro.
What you doing?
Send me the jersey, bro.
That's pretty wild.
Trying to get the collection started, man.
And people will say no, right?
They'll turn you down sometimes?
I haven't been told no.
I've been like waiting for like a little minute before.
Yeah.
For sure.
Just take some time.
I mean, if I'm waiting to. So, I mean, now that you put it like that, yeah, I guess.
Well, it's brutal.
Jeez.
Maybe I should have seen it, huh?
Yeah.
Well. Yeah.
Yeah.
All right, guys.
One of my favorite parts of the show.
We're going to do press one for Uno and go through some voicemails that you guys left
for us.
Okay.
Starting. Are you ready, Jamar?
Starting with this one.
It says, hey, Jamar.
Hey, Annie.
This is Caleb calling from Tampa, Florida.
Been a huge Bengals fan since day one.
I just got a signed Jamar Chase jersey.
Super stoked about it.
My question for Jamar is, who is the absolute best or most fun corner to battle against
on the field?
Thanks, guys.
Love the show.
I'm going to start with you, Jamar.
Sir Tan's one of them.
Yeah.
Yes, sir.
Sir Tan's definitely one of them.
Denzel Ward's one of them.
Those two guys are definitely by far, I would say, my top two, because I play them pretty
much every other year.
Yeah.
Or every year.
That's a good question.
Those two.
What was your first experience against Sir Tan?
I think it was 22, 20, maybe 21 to 22.
We went to Denver.
Okay.
At Denver.
I think I had like 60 yards, bro.
Yeah.
And TB scored like a 60-yarder off a pipe.
Honestly, I couldn't even breathe that game.
That atmosphere was actually insane.
Oh, yeah.
It was the first time I was playing there.
I actually couldn't breathe that much.
Is it that different?
It was a little different, though.
It's not that different, but you definitely can tell.
You got to get your first win out the way during warm-ups, for sure.
But that year, they had a good defense, good safeties,
good help all around, all around.
Pat wasn't following like that.
I mean, Bo was fresh the first two years in the league.
We didn't really get that many reps against each other.
They played a little more as a zone back then, too, a little bit.
But they still played man.
Overall, man, me and Pat have been going against each other since high school.
We're only going to get better.
We're only going to know our technique more,
know what we're the best at, and feel comfortable in the most.
It's going to get better from here.
Love that.
It's cool to see guys kind of go up together.
Hey, voicemail two.
Hi, Jamar.
Imagine it's 2036.
2036.
I'm 36 years old.
Why is this the first thing you start off with a question with?
Hi, Jamar.
Imagine it's 2036,
and you're sitting down for a long-form interview about your life so far.
Aside from winning a Super Bowl or Offensive Player of the Year,
what are one or two things you hope to accomplish by then,
and what do you think you need to do right now in order to hit those goals?
Who day?
I would say the first.
The first thing is just being a father for my kids at the end of the day.
I think that's the biggest thing, biggest accomplishment that I hope I can do.
I'm pretty sure I'm already doing it, but by 36, they're going to be big.
Nah, at that point, you know?
Oh, yeah.
But I would say investment-wise,
I would hope that I'm already set for myself and for my kids, honestly.
I think those two right there are my biggest goals that I want to hit by the time.
That's pretty cool, because that's what, I mean, not that you're not normal, obviously,
but that's what, like, a normal average person, those are the goals they'd want, too.
So, pretty cool.
That's a good question, then.
Yeah, that's a great question.
So, what about you, Annie?
What do you think?
What's your goals when you're 2036?
Man, I liked it better when I was asking the questions.
Where do I seem?
I would love to have my own show.
You know, we just were talking about McAfee, like a Pat McAfee trajection.
Like, I would love to have just a show.
A show where we could just get on and, you know, have guys come on and talk like we're doing now.
I just love that kind of stuff.
I love connecting with the fans.
Yeah.
So, I think I'd. You can call me, okay?
Absolutely.
I'd love that.
Hopefully, we're still doing this by then, Jamar.
Okay, voicemail number three.
Hey, Jamar.
Hey, Annie.
My name is Arian.
Congrats, Jamar, on the huge game last Sunday.
My question for both of you is, what's a purchase you've made in the past that you completely regretted later on?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Good luck on the next one.
Good luck on the next game and have a good one.
I'm going to let you answer this one first.
Okay, hold on.
I got to think about this.
A purchase?
Yeah, I got to think about this, too.
Because I try not to regret my purchases.
This is. Oh, man.
I'll tell you, my favorite purchase is my truck.
Love that truck.
Do not regret that a day in my life.
It's a Chevy.
It's amazing.
A purchase I regret?
Mm-hmm.
Probably, you know, I went to the Ohio State-Michigan game a couple years ago.
It was wild.
I actually was in college.
And I paid for some pretty good tickets, and that was a horrible game.
And Michigan just absolutely. It snowed, and Michigan dominated the whole game.
And if you know anything about me, I hate the U of M more than anything in the world.
And Ohio State was not supposed to lose that game.
So that was probably the worst purchase, because then I had to walk home, and I was around a bunch of Michigan fans, and it was traumatizing.
How long was the walk?
We were staying at. So it was probably a good half an hour, past all the bars, and all of them. Oh, Lord.
Yeah.
That's too far.
That was way too far.
That's way too far.
That's way too far.
Oh, no.
That's not fun.
So don't do that, guys.
Don't spend money on games when you're going to lose.
What about you, Jamar?
What's a purchase you regret?
There's not many purchases that I regret, I'm going to honestly say.
But I would say maybe a car that I got.
Really?
I don't have it no more, but. I would say a car that I got, because I lost value in it.
That's a good one.
It wasn't a smart investment.
That's what I was going to say.
When the investment's not there, that's what we would regret.
Bummer.
Yeah.
Win some, lose some.
That's how life works.
Okay.
Voicemail number four.
Hey, Jamar.
Hey, Annie.
My name is Patty.
Amazing game on Sunday.
That catch was unbelievable.
I'm a huge Bengals fan, but I have to ask, why are you sitting on a yellow couch with
black pillows?
Hey, Patty, these are the questions we need answered.
Thank you.
Those are Steelers colors.
You need an orange couch with black stripes to support us.
Come on, Jamar.
You're the best.
You're always open.
Let's go.
How about I just put a green cover over this yellow sofa for you and just make it an orange
couch?
In your defense, when we did the pod in person, it looked very orange to me.
Honestly, if you can see this room, it is not just. It's a blue couch here.
It's a green couch here.
It's a yellow.
Yeah.
It's very colorful.
It's a colorful. Yeah, it's pretty colorful in here, bro.
Did you decorate it?
Do you like that kind of thing?
No.
These actually came like this.
These was fire.
I like this.
I like this sofa, actually, the way it looked like a comma, basically.
Yeah.
If y'all don't know, the sofa moves out like this.
But they don't know what it looks like.
All right.
They don't know what it looks like, and it's very comfortable.
Y'all got to stop hating.
I got a TV right here.
Y'all got to stop hating, man.
Please.
Please.
Okay.
Last voicemail.
Hey, Jamar.
Hey, Annie.
My name is Matthew, calling in from L.A.
I've got a question for both of you.
How did you two end up collaborating on this podcast together?
And for Jamar, coming from L.A., I've always wanted to visit Cincinnati.
What are the best months of the year to come check out the city?
Much love.
Great question, Matthew.
Okay.
Well, shout out to you, L.A., because this is real.
Wow.
I'm pretty sure that's. I don't know a lot of L.A. people that would probably come out here either.
Yeah.
And you both for saying that, because it get real cold.
I would say summertime, the best time to come.
You can't come out here winter.
I would say fall is pretty cool, too, because you can see the seasons change a little bit.
So you can just see the leaves falling.
That's actually pretty, though, out here when it's fall.
But summer and fall is the best time to come.
So they got good food spots out here, hood spots.
Just throwing it out there.
Y'all got to look it up on whatever y'all look up stuff.
They got good stuff out here.
I'm just saying, real good stuff.
Wait, I have to know, coming from Louisiana, do you like hot weather more or do you like
fall weather more?
I love when it's hot outside out here.
Yeah.
It feels like New Orleans.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So you're not a fan of the snow and the cold?
No, but I don't really have a choice.
I never had a choice.
But I really do appreciate the Biggs getting us an indoor facility.
Yeah.
That's neat.
In the Midwest, winters are rough here, guys.
So come in the summer, Matthew.
My first year.
We didn't have an indoor.
We was practicing outside every day.
Jeez.
Even when it was snowy.
Oh, my gosh.
Yeah.
That sounds miserable.
I would wear a big coat.
I would wear layers.
Oh, I would wear layers, for sure.
But getting hit when it's that cold, that's got to hurt, right?
I mean, yeah, but you don't feel it at the time.
Yeah.
I remember I used to wear too many layers.
Joe used to be like, it ain't that cold.
I'd be like, bro, I'm not used to this.
I ain't used to this, bro.
It's awful out here, guys.
I mean, now.
Well, every, what is it, Thursday?
Every Thursday, the receivers do like a, like when it get cold, we don't wear sleeves outside.
Oh, really?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So we get used to the game.
We wear tights and pants, though.
It's just something we did so we could get prepared and ready for the game, you know?
Yeah.
Who was it?
Was it LA?
Maybe the Rams?
Somebody pregame last year or the year before they warmed up shirtless and it was like 15
degrees out.
Thank you, guys, for your voicemails.
Make sure to do that every week.
We'll try to answer as many as we can.
It's so fun.
It's so fun.
Press one for Uno.
