This transcription captures a lively episode of "Sounds of the Caribbean," a reggae radio podcast hosted by Selected Jerry. The show, airing on Memorial Day weekend, marks the unofficial start of summer with a focus on reggae music. Selected Jerry opens with Bob Marley's "Sun is Shining" in response to a listener request from Isaac in the UK, who celebrates Arsenal's Premier League win. The episode blends classic and contemporary tracks, including new releases from Cameron and Jesse Royal ("Herbsman"), the Expanders, and Limey Murray. Dub music is featured from Hit Bound and King Tubby, while the host delves into reggae history, discussing Ika Mouse's early production "Creation" from 1975. The show also highlights various record labels like VP, Mango, and Tuff Gong, and includes tracks from artists like Israel Vibration, Peter Broggs, and Lindville Thompson. You know, I often give Esquire Steven Cooper a lot of shout out here on Sounds of the Caravan for his yeoman's work, Interviewing the Legends, while he just released his job life interview, Part 3, on reggae vibes.com. And they talked a little about that track creation. Because job life, previous, would always say, what was your first Ika Mouse production? It's a Georgie Porgy from the year 1981. But technically, it was the year 1975, when he did Creation with Mr. Ripton Hilton, first before he was known as Ika Mouse. Yes, Ika Mouse Creation. Errol Walker was in there within these times, working it out with the Upsetters. That was an orchid 7-inch, and we started off with the five-man army featuring villager Trinity, Wayne Wade, Al Campbell, and Junior Tam Lin. Oh, also in there was Peter Brogues, but no ism, PAN THE Rhythm. And that certainly is holding true right here on Sounds of the Caravan. Hard to believe we're already an hour into this week's show. Yeah you never want to take your tongue and dig your grave. I just want to share something with the sounds of the Caribbean listeners. I've been doing the show now over 20 years and each and every show I put out a playlist and mail it out to various places. So over those 20 years I certainly, from sending out the playlist, I get a lot of music sent to me digitally in email. Everybody, record promotions, promotions and music promoters wanting to get their music played on sounds of the Caribbean, which is very humbling. What I've noticed over the last two weeks or so, I've had a few tracks in where I didn't recognize the labels. Nor the artist. So you open up the email, you give the track a listen and you're like, "Hmm, sounds okay." So as the songs plan, I try to do a little research to see, you know, who the artist is or who the producer is. And you can't find any information. No tour dates, no pictures, no Facebook page, no Instagram. It kind of sends up red flags. This is probably not real music. It's AI. I'm just over the last couple weeks, so I've gotten a three or four of these tracks. Kind of just set me off a little bit. I try to work hard on the show and promote real reggae music, real artists, especially on the Jamaican side of things sound systems. And for music promotions, to possibly be sending out AI music without even filtering it or being a little more vigilant. It's a little insulting from somebody that's been doing this for quite a while. I just like to say, hopefully the listeners, the sounds of the Caribbean out there, they're not supporting AI music. Just watch out for it. If you're doing Spotify or Apple Music, just hit the lead or skip. Just call out the BS. Because the real artists in this world need our support and love and listen. Not some fake AIBS. I'll be back on my own. By each and every week here on Sound to the Caribbean, it's hand-picked, curated reggae music. And I know eventually one of these AI songs will probably slip by me, but I'm going to do my best to support the real thing. Hopefully you do as well. Just say no to AI music and reggae music for sure. That's my soapbox for the week. I just want to let you know what's going on behind the scenes and how they're trying to infiltrate roots reggae music. Here's busy signal with a brand new track called reggae world.
