CAULFIELD GUINEAS, TOORAK HANDICAP AND MIGHT & POWER PREVIEW 2026

This episode of the punting podcast opens with discussion of the upcoming Caulfield meeting, which features three Group 1 races, and the Everest, now just over a week away. Much of the early chat centres on Ka Ying Rising's trial defeat to Ninja and the controversy surrounding MyRaceHorse owners, who were upset about being offered a $100 trial photo and a 1% share in Ninja reportedly selling for around $40,000, valuing the horse near $4 million. The hosts debate whether Ka Ying Rising, the $1.30 favourite, is vulnerable, noting he has never trialled strongly in Australia, while Tempted ($6) and Jimmy Star ($15) lead the local challenge. They also discuss the final Everest slot, expected to go to Yulong and likely Angel Capital. The previews then turn to Caulfield. Sheza Alibi is a short-priced favourite in the Might and Power Stakes, stepping up to 2,000 metres for the first time, with Birdman the main threat. In the Caulfield Guineas, Warwoven is the deserved favourite after his Golden Rose win, though Blind Rise and Trombolt are respected. The Toorak Handicap looks wide open, with Changing Colours and Regal Award among the chances. The show closes with Rose Hill tips: Alabama State in the Midway and Ocean Tsunami in the Highway, plus a reminder about the SPRING33 membership offer.

Speaker 1Hello, punters. Welcome to the show. It is a packed lineup this weekend down at Caulfield with three Group 1s. We get to see one of the best horses in Australia strutting her stuff, and we are just over a week out from the Everest, so we'll have a look at how that is shaping up. BJ, hello, mate. No Group 1 races in Sydney? Be a bit flat, wouldn't you?
Speaker 2Hello, Woodhead. Yeah, still good racing in Sydney, and you forgot about the Caulfield Cup.
Speaker 1Yes, I know. The punters forget about the Caulfield Cup. I'm a Caulfield Cup man.
Speaker 2I know, but you just like to train. I'm a traditionalist.
Speaker 1I'm an Everest man. What about the trial? Plenty to talk about, and we can get into the Everest chat right away if you want to, and like you said, there's even more to digest after Tuesday's trial, and I say this to everyone, but mainly to the 3,000 MyRaceHorse owners who have a share in Ninja. Don't listen to the haters. Your horse took it to Kaling Road. and made this Everest even more interesting.
Speaker 2They're upset. Why? I'm not sure if you know. No, I'm not. They're all very upset.
Speaker 1Most of the comments that come our way from them aren't. It's nothing we did. Okay, all right, okay. We didn't do anything. I wasn't sure.
Speaker 2I'm with them on this. I love it. The MyRaceHorse people are upset with MyRaceHorse. Why? Because they sent an opportunity. Yes. To purchase an image for $100 of Ninja beating Kaling Rising in the trial. Like a print for the wall? Print, yeah, a wall print, yeah. For the trial? For the trial win. Okay. I think it's fair enough. He beat the world's best horse, but they're very upset. Why? And let me tell you, MyRaceHorse people, you don't have to buy it. Oh. Because it's a money grab. They're upset about that. I think they're also upset that MyRaceHorse are also selling 1% in Ninja. Yeah, they sold it. How much did they get? I don't know. I don't know. I think last I saw it was up to like $40,000.
Speaker 1Yeah, I just, for some reason, I did see that this morning, but I don't know how much. $40,000, that values him in about $4 million. That's crazy, eh? Yeah. That's crazy. They can't be too upset. They've paid $160 and they've got an Everest runner. It's amazing. And the way that they talk to you is like it's their horse. Pardon. Which is fine. No, no, but that's, you know what? I'm with micro shares and I know a lot of people like to shit on them and things like that, but I'm with them. Like, people do say that. Like, I've got mates that, and I think I've said this on the podcast before, I've got a mate in our high school group punters club that's been going for 10 plus years who does the whole, oh, my mom's boss's horse is racing this weekend. We have to back it. And it's Ninja. It's good for the game. 100%. They take ownership in it. They feel like they're owners. So, yeah. Cool.
Speaker 2I like it. Yeah. One thing I will say is if you're a micro shareholder in a lotto ticket that wins, are you a lotto winner?
Speaker 1Yeah. I won lotto.
Speaker 2I didn't get much from it, but I won it. I think you're a winner if you get back more than you put in.
Speaker 1Yeah. So, what? Hold on. What's the, what's first prize for Everest? I can figure this out. I don't. So, it's 20 million, but. Yeah, but then they get.
Speaker 2I think they'd probably be getting 40%. So, they're going to get. It would be about. 8 million. No, it'd be, it'd be. To the owner. So, it'd be about, this is a guess, but I'm saying 12 million to the winner. Yeah. And then they'll get 40% of that.
Speaker 1They'll get 40% of that. So, that's. Something like that.
Speaker 211 and a half million to the winner. Okay. Let's just say. Or it might be. It might even be worse. The deal might not be that. Let's just say they get 4 million back.
Speaker 1You need to. They, they basically own 0.015% share of the horse. So, how do you. I don't even know how to do that on a calculator. Okay. You can multiply it. Can you, can you tell me? How to do it on a calculator? Okay. Well, you. If you don't listen to this, I am that fucking dumb. Numbers just isn't my strong suit.
Speaker 20.015. 0.015. Yeah. Times. Four. Million. That's 40 million. Um. I don't think that's right. Oh, it's. We look like fucking dum-dums. I'm telling you. Well, that's saying. I'm telling you now. We're dodo heads. That's saying that every shareholder is going to get 60,000 if he wins. Could be. I don't know. Oh, fuck. I hope they do. I hope they do. I hope they. I hope they. But. I think he's a chance. I think he's a genuine chance. You know what though?
Speaker 1Oh. I'm finding all this car-ying rising chat very un-Australian. I don't know if it's rubbing anyone else the wrong way. But everyone's jumping on board. He's the best horse in the world. Yeah, I get it. But I can't wait to see if our sprinters can serve it up to him. Yeah. And that trial sent blood rushing to parts of my body that blood doesn't often rush to anymore. Mm. He got it. Well, he trialed poorly last time. Trialed better this time and Ninja beat it.
Speaker 2If anybody thinks that he trialed like the best horse in the world. They're kidding themselves. But does he ever. I don't think he ever trials well though. He always like big blow after they reckon. In Australia, his two trials have been below par. But. Yeah. I don't know. It was below par. What about his Hong Kong trials? I don't know. I don't watch his Hong Kong trials. Well. What are you doing? What are you doing with your fucking time? It doesn't. It doesn't matter. Like. The trial. If he had a look like. Yes. He didn't look like that in the trial. Yeah. So it's a blow par trial. Yeah. He was being clicked up. I think Ninja was under less riding than him.
Speaker 1They both were under less. Like they were both not sitting there trying to pedal down.
Speaker 2Well, I think that he was asked for a bit of an effort, Kay in Rising.
Speaker 1Yeah. Well, Zach said he kind of, he felt Kay in kind of pick up a bit when Ninja came up and passed him and wanted to race him.
Speaker 2If he, if he tried like the best horse in the world, he would have been hard held winning the trial. Why is everyone cranky?
Speaker 1We're, we're talking about a trial. Have you noticed that in the comments as well? It's just a, it's just a trial. Yeah. We know it's a fucking trial. We're talking about it. It's fun. Hey. And you know what? If you're that big a fan of Kay in Rising, wouldn't you hope it got beat by five horses in the trial and maybe you'll get $2, $2.20 about him in the Everest?
Speaker 2I'm not cheering him. Like everybody loves him. Me neither. I want to. But I'm, I'm, I'm patriotic. I'd prefer tempted to win it. Same. I'd prefer one of our Aussie sprinters to get over the top of him and say, hey, go back to Hong Kong.
Speaker 1I don't know. He's not coming here and taking our money. We're all ready to put this out on the podcast, but BJ did say he was willing to do a bet on the potty that if Kay in Rising gets beat, BJ will do Southern Cross Tattoo. No. Are you sure? No. No. You talk about I'm patriotic. I am patriotic. If you could have a Southern Cross Tattoo, where would you have it?
Speaker 2Don't know. Hidden. On my ankle. Who wants to get a tattoo? I've seen that. I wear socks. Ankle. No idea. I wouldn't get a Southern Cross Tattoo. I'm thinking about it. But I hope one of our Aussie sprinters beat him. Same. Like. Same. Everybody thinks, it's been a put in, take out job since he, since basically every run since the Everest, he's been lighting up the track in Hong Kong.
Speaker 1What price did he get out to last year?
Speaker 2I think he started, I think he got out. You got black odds at one stage of betting and then he was back into $1.90, $1.85.
Speaker 1So no one's having huge wins on him, like people that we know, unless they're.
Speaker 2I think, I think some people got on him last year, um, when he wasn't expected to come and. Right. Like they chipped away.
Speaker 1I've seen in the discord, like a few people just having like a Wednesday multi and just throwing a game rising at the end of it. It's going to be a big click for some people that have been feeding into this horse for the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 2You're either in two. You're either in one or two camps, I reckon. Yeah. You're in the camp where you want to see a fast track. You want to, you want to see Kying rising at his best. You want to see good horses be good and fast and see the best horse in the world come out and break the Randwick track record. Yeah. Which I'm okay with that. Yeah. I'd like to see him do it as well. Like I'd be pleased to see that.
Speaker 1As fans, you want that as well.
Speaker 2Or you're in the camp where you want to see a wet track. You want to bring the Australian sprinters in. You're patriotic. You want. Australia to take the big money of the Everest and you don't want it to leave our shores. You want him to go back to Hong Kong with his tail between his legs.
Speaker 1I'm, I'm sort of. I'm footing both. Both. Yeah. And that's fine. Either way. But why you're saying is because there's a lot of people that are just, Kying, nothing will beat it, blah, blah, blah. I think it's an easy line to trot out, to be honest with you. And I think that's why it's being trot out.
Speaker 2Well, he's, he's the best horse in the world, but I think he's got to, I think he's got to be better than he was last year because I think Tempted is a, is a really good horse. He's a real.
Speaker 1Yeah. Rocket. Is it a stronger field? So just before we go, three more runners were announced yesterday. So Jolly Star, uh, in the Waller racing slot, Giga Kick, Coolmore took him, um, after Guest House was ruled out with an injury. Jimmy Star was Tabs. Is that right? Yeah, I think that's right. For some reason on the Everest website, they haven't updated yet.
Speaker 2No, it wasn't Tabs. It wasn't Tabs.
Speaker 1Were the only other two Tab and Yulong? I don't. I thought, like I said, it had the only one that's updated as of yesterday. Oh, sorry, as of this morning from yesterday's news was Jolly Star in the Waller Racing slot. The other three slots are blank on the Everest website. Okay. So I know everyone's reporting it.
Speaker 2Maybe it is Tab's slot.
Speaker 1Well, Jimmy Star was the favourite to take Tab's slot, and he's kind of in the market.
Speaker 2Well, he was Tab's slot last year.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah. So $1.30, Kying rising right now, $6 tempted. Jimmy Star is $15. You know what? We should look up Sportsbet because they have whether a slot is taken up. $18, Jolly Star, $21, Ninja, Owners, $26, Blue Door. Then you've got Headwall, Angel Capital, $34, Giga Kick, Savvy Halley, Spicy Martini, 51s.
Speaker 2Okay. So the ones that I don't think have a slot there, Angel Capital doesn't have a slot there?
Speaker 1No, I put it in there because you'll think that's what Yulong will take, right?
Speaker 2And I – yeah, probably. And then the other horse that doesn't have a slot there is Savvy Halley. But there is talk about her. Savvy Halley doesn't have a slot. I'm almost certain. She's got a slot. No, I don't think so. But you might be right. I'm not 100% up on it.
Speaker 1Well, I think this is why I'm asking you because, like, going through Racenet yesterday, looking at whatever I was putting out, I thought, well, surely the contenders page on the Everest would be getting updated. And they have – oh, actually. It's been updated this morning. So Jimmy Star Tab, Giga Kick, Coolmore, Jolly Star, Chris Waller. So those two weren't there. Tempted Godolphin, Savvy Halley is Mulberry Racing. Spicy Martini is Inglis. Oh, yeah. Blue Door is Newgate and GPI Racing. Headwall is in Max Whitby's spot. Kai Ying Rising in Hong Kong Jockey Clubs. Ninja in Fairway Thoroughbreds, which means there's one slot left. One slot. So that'll be Yule Long and they'll probably make a decision on Angel Capital this weekend.
Speaker 2Yeah, well, they basically – they'll either be taking him or they'll be taking Paradoxium. Okay. Maybe they're – oh, they're probably not going to take – they're probably not going to back Paradoxium up in an Everest. Because he's in on Saturday.
Speaker 1What about the next episode?
Speaker 2Or they've said they're going to – Is he in Yule Long? No, but – I don't know. They're not going to take Yule Long. Potentially, they could take him. They could take him with the partnership of someone else. They want to go to the – he's definitely going to the Coolmore. I tell you, I would take St. Goddard. Yeah, okay. That's who I would take if I had a slot. I don't think he's in the running. I think if somebody was going to take him, Coolmore would have took him. But I thought that that was on the horizon. And I would have been happy enough to back him too. I think he kicks up interesting – Interesting selection for them. They must have sold their slot. Because I'm sure that they wouldn't have took Gigi Kick.
Speaker 1It
Speaker 2doesn't
Speaker 1say anything other. But anyway, if anyone that does the Everest website, Everest.com.au, just – it's like a slideshow. That's probably right. A little bit more. A little bit more info would be great. Because like I said – Like I said, that wasn't all confirmed. And, you know, as of right now, it's – you know, that was only updated, you know, in the last two hours, I reckon. But yeah, it is getting exciting, as you said. There's other big races on that day, I believe.
Speaker 2The Caulfield Cup.
Speaker 1Yes, the Caulfield Cup.
Speaker 2I'm excited. The Caulfield Cup's great. Great race. Cosmic Crusader is going there now. That's confirmed. Yeah. I wonder if Pikey will be on. Yeah. I don't know what – I think he – yeah, Pikey will be on. What way? I don't know what he got. 57.5 or 56.5, something like that.
Speaker 1There's a lot to play out over the next eight days. It's exciting. Like, be glued to your socials, be glued to your race net and your punters.com, things like that.
Speaker 2Yeah, well, last year, remember when there was a rumour – On, like, the Sunday, I reckon, that Cahing Rising was out. He was going to be out. Yeah. And then there was those crazy fluctuations. Yeah. And then David Hayes come out and said, no, he's all good.
Speaker 1Yeah, but he didn't come out straight away. Like, I feel like we had to wait overnight for him to come out and actually say he was all good. Yeah, potentially he didn't come
Speaker 2out until Monday, but that was like a crazy 24 hours. Yeah. Everybody was thinking that Cahing Rising was potentially going to come out. They were back. Backing everything else in the race. And then he turned up and he got the job done. Yeah, he did. He's got to be better this year. I'm excited. What about Overpass?
Speaker 1Overpass ran third last year, right?
Speaker 2Third or fourth, yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah. But it was big. He was good. Very good. He was good. Went from the UK. Hasn't had a run here in Australia since. Yeah, but he's going to run.
Speaker 2I think they're always planning on – they're running on Everest Day. Yeah. He's going to run. Running the Sydney Stakes.
Speaker 1But yeah, like that could be –
Speaker 2If he had got a slot.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah. Like you're training for the same day. He would run.
Speaker 2He would run in the Everest. But – Mini Everest. The Sydney Stakes. Well, I think the Sydney Stakes are still worth $2 million or something. Yeah, right. So – Yeah, it's nice. A lot of people are happy to run in the Sydney Stakes. Yeah. Because I think – I don't know. I think the Everest deal should like be public knowledge.
Speaker 1Like the percentage
Speaker 2and things like that. I think that should be public knowledge. Why? Because it'd be interesting. Like I – Motivations and – No, I just would like to know.
Speaker 1Just – I'm just a sticky beak. Yeah, I'd like to know. I'm just a nosy little bugger. Yeah, that's right. Should be made public. Well, like – TheEverest.com.au.
Speaker 2Depending what sort of horse – what horse you're taking. Like some horses might be on like – Nothing. Just – Just get in there. Cart and beer. Just get in there.
Speaker 1Just for the sake of running. No, I'm going to keep moving, bud. Okay. Let's get on to the group one previews. We're going to get into big Everest show, big Caulfield Cup show next week. I'm pumped for next week's show. So we'll get into our group one previews. And if you want the full previews for these group one races plus our best value and quoddies at all five Metro tracks, BJ's pro tips and a full preview of the – you can get that by joining members only. Use code SPRING33. Click the link in this episode show description. You'll get 33% off plus your seven-day free trial. Limited spots. And we've got three group ones at Caulfield to get stuck into. We're looking at a soft six apparently, but there's no rain predicted between now and race day. So we'll definitely see that improve. The rail is in the true. Last time out at Caulfield, it was 13 meters out. So it hasn't been in the true. It's been in the true position for nearly two months. We're going to kick off with the Might and Power. Race seven, over 2,000 meters, and it's a one-horse affair according to the market. She's alibi. It's been a month since that dominant win in the Maccabi Diva Stake. She steps up to 2,000 meters for the first time. Short quote of $1.35, $1.30. Next in betting is Birdman. Has all the credentials, a bit of a specialist at the track, and one well last time out here in the underworld. He's $4.20. Treasure of the moment, improved last start, behind pride of Jenny in the wait for age fan. She's $14. Kingswood, $16. Land legend, $101. Taranzino is $250. But she's scared them all off, BJ. She's alibi. Heads a six-horse field. And at the current quote of $1.35, surely she is the anchor of the nation's multis.
Speaker 2Yes. The race was, is often a small field. Because most of the, most of the better ones go to the, the Turnbull last year, last week.
Speaker 1But. They're not many better than she's elbow.
Speaker 2No. It was the better ones last week. No. Well, she's in, she's in the conversation for the, the best three horses in Australia. I think she's going to eat up a mile and a quarter. Yeah. She, she just has great late strength in her races over a mile. You can see like on the back of a, a very fast Doncaster win, how strong she was through the line. Love to see her in the Cox Plate this year, but I don't think she'll be there. She'd have to back up seven days after hopefully winning the Golden Eagle, 1500 metres to 2000 metres, travel interstate. But. What price would she be if she was in the. In the Cox Plate? Yeah. I think she'd be favourite. Favourite, yeah. She'll be favourite.
Speaker 1Why? Why haven't we seen her at 2000 metres before, like?
Speaker 2Just because there's, I think there's too much money for her around, around mile and a quarter or around mile, sorry. Yeah. Yeah. Like there's, this prep has always been eyes on the $10 million Golden Eagle. Golden Eagle, yeah. And I guess Moody has just decided that he wants to get a hard, he wants to get a 2000 metre run into her. I wouldn't be surprised. if she is there on Cox Plate Day. because it is an interesting one for Moody to give her a crack over 2,000 metres and then come back to 1,500 metres because he's won a Golden Eagle with I Wish I Win and he ran him in the two-rack over 1,600 metres and then he went back to 1,500 metres of the Golden Eagle. But then what's that? That was last.
Speaker 1The Golden Eagle. The two-rack is today. Well, this weekend and the Golden Eagle is in two weeks' time? Three weeks, I think. Well, I don't think we're talking about. But, yeah, like, so between, like, she's alibi this weekend and the Golden Eagle, how long between runs? I think it's going to be three weeks.
Speaker 2Right, okay. So I'll just have a look.
Speaker 1It would be interesting because I don't think they've ever, like, they seem to – what has she done here? I don't think she's ever had a short backup either, so it would be interesting to see if she did.
Speaker 2Two, she would have had, I think, potentially ran with guineas to the Doncaster. So she sort of hangs around that, like, two weeks between runs. Ran with guineas. To the Doncaster. That's four weeks. Four weeks. Yeah. Okay. Futures. Three weeks. The Golden Eagle is on the 31st of October. So, yeah, it's three weeks away. Three weeks. Perfect. Yeah. But. Then one week straight. Maybe. That would be cool, hey? Like, it wouldn't surprise me, given the fact that he's going to run her. But here, over 2,000 metres, it just seems like, oh, let's leave our options open. If she goes really good here, she comes out, she wins a Golden Eagle, she bounces through that. Straight after the race. And then just the money piles in. I think it's pretty easy. She's not getting beaten here, is she? Like, Birdman is a good horse. Yeah. Like, he's going to stretch her. Yeah. Like, he's run the trip. He came out last start and he was dominant over, Cosmic Crusader, who'd come out and won the Turnbull. And we're saying that. Great win, too. Those sort of horses, the Sir Delius and Aliana are the best sort of mile and a quarter horses in the country. And he's come out and beat that horse fair and square over 1,800 metres. He's not going to be a pushover. So, I think it's a race. Take on the $1.30. No. You're saying take on the $1.30. Take on Shiza Alibi. I think she'll win. I think she'll win. But $1.35. Yeah.
Speaker 1I don't bet big enough. I don't bet big enough to have a bet on Shiza Alibi. So, she's either going to go on a multi or I'm going to try and bet around it. And I think everyone listening to this is exactly the same. So, I'll probably do both.
Speaker 2Kingswood potentially backs up into the Caulfield Cup. Yeah. I'm so interested to see how he goes. I'm not sure if Treasure of the Moment's still in the Caulfield Cup. I don't know. Field. But they were saying. The Caulfield Cup prior to last start when she stayed at 1,600 metres because 2,000 metres. It sort of makes a little bit of sense. So, yeah. Watching the other runs behind her for the Caulfield Cup. Yeah. I don't think she's in the Treasure of the Moment. $31 currently in the market there. If she's still in the market, then she's probably still in it.
Speaker 1Yeah. Okay. All right. The Caulfield Guineas. It is race eight down there. 1,600 metres. $3 million in prize money. And hopefully it's heading Warwoven's way for our good mates. He's the current favourite. $2.20 from the Baker stable. Rach on board. Blind raises. $3.60. Coming off back-to-back wins at Caulfield. Looks the main threat. Trombolt wasn't too bad last start. Had no favours there. He's $8.50. Central Europe, $15. Can't really ever rule out anything that J-Mac is on. But we'll have to. We'll have to improve plenty. Then you've got Wolf Gap, $19. Call Me Coach, 21s. Unit 5, 26. Tornado Valley. I don't think anyone's really going to forgive Tornado Valley enough to take that $31. Something burning, 31s. And Seraphox at $71. Oh, I mean, I personally, I hope Warwoven comes out and wins it. This is the grand final. This is what they've been aiming it for. And hopefully Hildo's down there in Melbourne. Probably not. He'll probably have to look after Sydney horses and Bjorn will be down there. Yeah. I want it.
Speaker 2It's a good. You're going to knock it. No, I'm not going to knock it. I think he should be favourite. That was an outstanding win in the Golden Rose. But I'm not sure where it came from. It was one of those ones that it was unexpected. It was unexpected by the market. He had every possible chance. He sort of got a really nice suck run behind a fast tempo. He presented it. He did it at the right time, but he, he let rip, uh, a fast run, 1400 meters is absolutely ideal for, uh, Caulfield Guineas. We saw that Caulfield Guineas form dominate, uh, sorry, we saw that Golden Rose form dominate last year with, uh, Autumn Boy winning the Caulfield Guineas. He sort of, last year he sort of had a, a tough run in that, that Golden Rose and, and it was a forgive run and then he was well supported. Jaymack rode. The other horse, the Coolmore horse, do you remember?
Speaker 1Who the fuck are you looking at me for?
Speaker 2I remember what I did yesterday. He's a, he's, he's a non-winner. I can't remember his name. I know a lot of non-winners. Um, but yeah, that's the, that's the right form for Warwoven. Yeah. Um, he's a deserved favourite, but $2.15. You could mark him a lot shorter based on his.
Speaker 1Yeah, best price $2.20. So when I did. When I wrote that this morning, it was $2.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was $2.20. So. You could mark him a lot shorter based on his last start rating, but it is an outlier. Given that you have to regress him slightly, uh, even previously, like his win in the run to the Rose rates better than these. Um, so he's definitely a deserved favourite. Blind Races is right on the up. Uh, it was a really good win last start. He, he not much went right from the wide draw. He was. He was wide early, had to work up, sit outside the lead. Uh, he cruised up to them and he put paid to them. Blake Sheen, good draw mile. It's just the perfect sort of preparation for him. Um, Tron Ball, he was good in that Golden Rose, but he just can't draw a gate. He just keeps drawing out. So he's going to have to go back. He's going to need a good ride from Willow. And then you've got Mack showing up on Central Europe. That horse was given no hope in the Golden Rose. He was. He's set a lot early, um, sat on that fast tempo and it was a forgive run, but is he good enough to win a race like this? Um, best roughy in the race has to be call me coach. Call me coach coach. Yeah. Zara on very good win last start. We don't know how good he is. Um, he shows really good late strength in his races. He's on an upward rating spiral. His ratings. Don't measure up to this race, but, um, we're going to find out how good he is on Saturday. Two runs, two wins. For a sake of a tip, I can't tip, I can't tip War Woven. Cause you hate your mates. No, I love, I love my mates. Oh, okay. Sorry. Um, just because you want to see him do it again at the top of the market. Um, so I'll, I'll tip Blind Rays, uh, just the fact that he, he did. Didn't have every opportunity last start to, to produce a writing like War Woven did. Yeah. Do I think he needs to produce a writing like that to win this race? No, I don't. Because I think War Woven is going to regress from that golden Rose rating. Um, if Tron bolt had have drew a gate, I would have tipped him. Um, I think he's, I think he's potentially the best horse in the race, but he's going to get back from that draw. I think blind rise just gets a. A nice suck run in behind them. And he, he, he gets his chance to really produce a peak figure third up getting to a mile. Good draw. $8.50. No, I think he's 370. Who? Blind Rays. Oh, sorry. I think you're still talking about Tron bolt. Blind Rays. Tron bolt. Tron bolt. Yeah.
Speaker 1$8. Yeah. Um, oh, I'm, I'm, I'm backing and I'm tipping War Woven and I I'm wishing all the luck, luck to Rachel King, Luke Hilton King, Matthew Rose, everyone down there. They're at the back of Staple. I hope they have a win. That would be freaking cool. Um, all right. We had to race nine and it's a nice big open field here to contest the Touareg handicap. It's over 1600 meters at the top of the market. Jay Mack and Waller combining with lady Shannon Doerr. She's $6.50. Regal awards $7 after a narrow defeat last start in the Rupert Clark should be rolling forward from barrier four evaporate, who could also be upfront. He's a forgive last start, pulled up lame in that same race was ultra impressive before that at sand down in a show you think stakes he's $7.50 and changing colors is $8.50 and it's an interesting story. Lucy Yeomans, who is the ex assistant trainer for Kieran Marsh was there for about 10 years, was with Lloyd Kenilwell for two years and now eight on her own out on her own. She's only had about 50 races under a belt on her own. This horse has now won four straight from a benchmark 78 up to the group two. Uh, stock stakes, I'm in a card game. Stakes Day. Over the mile, she's three wins and two seconds from five starts. She could be another one worth having a bet on at $8.50. And then Warnie, Sabaj, Salty Pearl, all around that $10 mark. Ferroche, 17. Sun God, Panova at 21s. Welcome to the Show, 23. Von Hawke, 31. Tudor and Discreet, 31. Pendolaoui, 41s. And Helsing, $81. So where on earth do we start with this race,
Speaker 2AJ? It's a good race. It's a good race. I'm looking into changing colors because I'm going to make a claim that I'm not sure that it's true yet. Okay. So it is true. So, you know, another fact for changing colors. Yeah. Since she changed her colors, she's won four straight. Like
Speaker 1from stable change colors or what? Just they changed the silks.
Speaker 2So since the silks changed. Yeah. You remember the, remember the big hurrah, um, with Bray, what's his name? Sokolski. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. With the. I would have murdered that last name, but yeah. With the, uh. Yeah. Flag. Yes. So he got his new colors and they put them on her. Yeah. And then she won. And then she won four in a row.
Speaker 1Was her name already changing colors?
Speaker 2Yeah. Her name was changing colors. How convenient. So changing colors, bang, she wins four in a row. Changing colors, then change colors.
Speaker 1I don't remember the story. Do you remember the story? Yeah. It was something about the flag that he had on there. Yeah. What, but. I don't know. I think it was political, Blake. Yeah. I don't want to. But I don't remember.
Speaker 2I don't remember what the colors were before. I don't know. Okay. Well, we'll move on.
Speaker 1But that's good. That's good to add to the story. Changing colors, change colors.
Speaker 2And won four in a row.
Speaker 1Won four in a row. Okay. Yeah. Well. That's just the story. That's it there. That's about it. It's $8.50. But yeah, it was good. She was watching that vision of her winning the, what is it? Stock stakes. A Manicato day. A group two win. And I think she's also partners with Blake Sheen.
Speaker 2Yeah. I think that's correct.
Speaker 1Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So Blake Sheen's not riding. This horse here. He's with Evaporate.
Speaker 2Okay. Well, that's because she's got 52. Oh, okay. Okay. I don't think Blake would be able to ride 52. I was worried there was trouble.
Speaker 1She's like stuff it.
Speaker 2No, no, no. I don't, I don't think he'd be able to ride 52. So Lady Shenandoah. Yeah. I watched Waller's podcast. She's not gonna, she's unlikely to run here.
Speaker 1Oh, okay. Okay.
Speaker 2So no jockey booked in Sydney, but she's more likely to run in Sydney. He said that they're just waiting because they think that. That somebody's going to scratch from a wide draw and they're in a, in a good jockey is going to be available for them to grab that person in Sydney. Okay. So she's more likely to scratch from here. So favorite to come out. So we're going to treat her as a scratching. Um, we're changing colors. She's flying. Yeah. As you said, she's, she's one four on the trot. Um, gets the right draw. No weight on her back, but she, she brings mare's form. Um, this is sort of an, another step up from her. Yeah. Um, the one that I want to be with is regal award. Okay. I think regal award, uh, was very good. First up Sir Rupert Clark. He led, uh, it was a relatively strong tempo and he, he, he, he fought hard. It's not easy to win a Sir Rupert Clark first up, um, and do it on speed like that. So I think he can only strip fitter for that. He gets to 1600 meters, uh, evaporate. As you said, he was a forgive run. He sat outside, um, regal award there and he pulled up lame. So it was a forgive run. He was 1500 meters back to 1400 meters, but he had that fitness edge on regal award. So you'd expect regal award to only be able to bounce from that effort. Um, I'd like to see him be able to take up the running. I'd prefer to see him take up the running than have to sit outside evaporate. So I'm not sure what Blake Sheen does there. Um, he, he has been a little bit slow to begin. In the past, but, and he's a horse that sort of occasionally has to build his momentum. So it'd be nice to be able to see regal award cross down, um, and find the fence there. And I think he, he's going to be relatively hard to catch. There's not great speed here. Um, you got evaporate regal award going forward, helsing, um, from out wide, but that's about it. So I think he can control the speed from the front and I think he can improve on his first run. Uh, Panova, I thought she was terrific. First up, they saved her from the Epsom last week. She was in the Epsom. I thought she was rough hoping that Epsom, um, but she comes down here easier race. Uh, I'm pretty sure she's been to Flemington. She's been to Melbourne once before. So she went to Flemington and she put up her career peak over a mile on a good track, but that was at Flemington. So she's never been to Caulfield before. Uh, her first up run. It was really good. That was 1400 meters. Uh, she had some of the best closing splits of the day. I was sort of tipping Attica in a, in an Epsom. So I thought if I was tipping him in an Epsom, I had to give her some consideration. And now that she goes down to an easier race, wide draw is against, but I wouldn't be leaving her out of your multiples. Panova, Willie Pike in the saddle. If she had a draw gate, I could have potentially put her on top. On top. Yeah.
Speaker 1I'm going with the story. You're changing colors. Okay. You made the story better. If I say the bit. Oh, I think I botched the story. No, but we don't need the, we don't need the full story. It's just when it changed colors.
Speaker 2I just, um, I. Yeah, it's good. It's good. It doesn't matter. I didn't do my research on that one prior to the podcast.
Speaker 1I, I've got to be honest with you. I've been accused of that before. Okay. So. It hurts when people say that. Yeah. Yeah. They'll just say it anyway, Beach. Um. All right. We've got a couple of minutes left of the show. Uh, can you give us two?
Speaker 2I probably can't give us two.
Speaker 1Oh, every time I ask for one, you give me two. Every time I ask for two, you give me one.
Speaker 2Okay. Well. Give me one. No, I'll give you two. I'll give you two. You do this on purpose. Um. Let's go. We'll go to Rose Hill. Rose Hill. Rose Hill's a good meeting. We haven't given it the time that it deserves. You did ask me if, if I wanted to do Rose Hill.
Speaker 1Yeah. It just. There's a couple of two. We're doing group one. Group one. Yeah. The Allen. The Allen Brown. The Allen Brown is a $2 million race.
Speaker 2Be worth more than the two rack.
Speaker 1The Might and Power and the two rack, I think.
Speaker 2Um. But yeah. Oh no. The Allen Brown. Is it 1.5 million? Yeah, 1.5. Or is it 1.5? 1.5. But the Hill Stakes is a $2 million race. Yeah. That's the race that, um, Lindemann bags every year. Mm-hmm. But he's $1.95. Well, he's coming off a poor performance. He's an interesting horse. Mm-hmm. He, he won second up when we backed him. Yeah. Um, he had his own time in front. That was in the Chelmsford Stakes. And then he's gone down to Melbourne because they were eyeing, they were going to tackle the Cox Plate this year. Right. He kind of laughed, didn't he? He went no good. Um, he went terrible, but he was, he was a big drifter in the market. Uh, I think he might've been $2.50 out to $3.
Speaker 1Stewards report the gelding was not comfortable racing in an anti-clockwise direction.
Speaker 2Yeah. Race below expectation. But yeah, he was poor. Yeah. So. Well, he got confused, mate. He's gone the fucking wrong way. $1.95 coming off a, a. Yeah, but he's back up. A performance like that. Going the right way. Yeah. Well, he can, he can obviously bounce back. Yeah. But it is slightly concerning that he's coming off a well below par performance. Um, attrition. Did he win this race last year, attrition? You tell me. No, he runs second in this race last year to Lindemann. Yeah. Windham bags this race every year. Yep. Um, I'm not going to spend too much time on that race. It's tough. Give us, spend some time and give us two tips. Not too much time either. Cause we've got to. I was just, I was just, I was just, I was given the, given the meeting a little bit of love. Like there is, there is some, some good clashes happening like Paradoxium versus Tono Glow. Uh, it's all happening, but I'm going to, I'm going to spend my time on the midway. Okay. First race.
Speaker 1Give the meeting some love. Rose Hill. Straight to the midway.
Speaker 2Rose Hill race one, number four, Alabama State. Alabama State. So I think this horse is absolutely flying this preparation. Uh, it's his first time this preparation in midway company. So he's contested a 78, a 78, a 78, a 78 and an 88. So a little bit stronger than this grade. So two back. It was behind Night Agent and Unleashing. Last start, last start was behind Decorum. That's, that's good form for a race like this. Decorum and Cross Tasman. Um, and then previously to that, it was also Decorum and Unleashing. So he brings the right form for this. His last, last time he was in a, a midway, J-Mac rode him. He drew the outside gate. He sat wide without cover. He carried 59 and a half kilos and he was dominant. So this time he draws a good gait, draws six. He'll carry 60 kilos. He'll get a nice suck run in behind them. And I think that he'll be a little bit too good. I think he's better than midway grade. I think he's up to sort of 78, 88 grade. He just struggles to draw a gait and he struggles to hold his spot. So if Tommy can get him out, hold his spot, I think he'll be too good for them. We have $5.75 to find out. Yeah. So that's a good price. And then we'll go to the second race, the highway. So we go on the midway and the highway.
Speaker 1They're too big. This is why you're a people of the country. The people of the country. The provincial in the country.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's right. I'm going to back Ocean Tsunami here. Good name. Okay. So Rose Hill Race 2, number five, Ocean Tsunami. Last start before 71 days between. They put the blinkers on. She got back onto a dry deck and she absolutely bolted in. She beat a horse by the name of Feasible, who's won a couple of races since. There was a big gap back to third. I think that she's always sort of had this ability, but she's struggled to put it together in her career so far. But last start when the blinkers went on, she just exploded. That was 1,700 meters. This is 1,500 meters fresh. Gets the Apprentice on. There'll be good speed in this race. Like if you go back through her form, I remember her debut win. She was heavily supported. I think 550, 550 into 350 that day. She was really strong late. First up, last preparation, she ran into a horse by the name of Rach. Sister Day was in that race. Ready and Lucky, who's a good country galloper. That really measures up to this sort of form. So I think she's hard enough to beat. That last start figure is dominant in this race. So she can regress off that and still win this race. And I think there's potential that she could even hold that, because there was a combination of factors that suggested that that is a true figure. So she's got the blinkers on for the first time, and then she produced that figure. Okay. So hopefully she can reproduce and get the job done for us at $5.50.
Speaker 1Ocean Tsunami. She's a good gamble. With Izzy Neal on board.
Speaker 2Good gamble. And I think, so Scott Singleton's got two horses in the race, and Michaela Weir rode Ocean Tsunami last start. And people might be wondering why. Why Michaela isn't on Ocean Tsunami. She's on Street Force, which is Scotty's other one in the race. I think I would suggest it's because Izzy can only claim down to 54 kilos. So Ocean Tsunami's got 56, so she can claim two down to 54, but the other one's got 54, so she wouldn't be able to claim that. She wouldn't be able to claim. Yeah, okay, gotcha. So I think that's why the apprentice goes on Ocean Tsunami.

Speaker 1much fun at the moment. Potentially Chow will win a Hillstakes. And if you're not enjoying it, turn the bet sizes down a little bit. Just enjoy your races, okay?
