Morning to you Dave, they've had the natural rainfall during the week as well so that track should be perfect on Saturday, yeah Decorum was the one Dave, $3.50 yesterday, nearly drove the Corolla off the road trying to get on but sadly missed that price, so $1.85 now and he looks awfully hard to beat and I read yesterday potentially on the way to an Alan Brown, potentially on the way to a Golden Eagle and we saw 10% of him sold on Inglis Digital during the week and that went for $120,000. So they've priced him at $1.2 million and he's a gelding, he returned very well so excited to see what he can do on the weekend, we'll chat to Sterling Alexio shortly as well, Dave Skyhook a very short price favourite in the Shennan and there was a big move in the Golden Rose as well yesterday, St Gothard, $5.50, he touched $3.90 back to $4.00.

Great guests which hopefully find us some winners for Saturday, we're going to be talking a lot of sport, hearing this prelim final between the Dolphins and the Roosters is 50-50 split with the money with Tab a $1.68, Dolphins, Roosters $2.20, we'll chat to David Bork about that and get a couple of multis into the sports office section, one for the NFL tomorrow and also we need to speak to Dane Clark from Clarkies Rugby League column, hopefully have all the news on Sam Walker and Nathan Cleary, two very important and interesting players. We've got a lot of interesting story lines for this weekend of NRL, can't wait for the show, hopefully we find a couple of winners with a big guest, Adrian's lined up.

Speaker 5Yeah no he came through that first up win terrific, every now and then he can just feel his runs a little bit but he seemed to pop through it nice and bright. Work Saturday and Tuesday was spot on for him so I'm really happy with him leading into Saturday.
Speaker 2He's carrying 58 top weight in the Shannon, how much of a challenge is that do you think for him?
Speaker 5Oh look he's a progressive horse that's sort of starting to get weighted right up to the best you know, he's two kilos off private eye, he's won 13 million dollars so look I don't think it's any gift of a race on Saturday. He needs to sort of step up again and you know if we want to go until the Golden Eagle well he probably needs to be winning on Saturday if not running second so under no illusions it's still going to be a difficult task Saturday but he's well and truly got the ability to do it and sort of seems to be on an upward curve which is, you know, which is nice for everyone involved.
Speaker 2Yeah it is important you mentioned the Shannon on the weekend because you want to try and get to the Golden Eagle that's where you've really circled on the calendar. Is there any other race in between now and the Golden Eagle that you'd also look at to possibly get him there?
Speaker 5Yeah probably like his first up run we sort of wanted to see how he'd come through that whether we went to the Shannon or the Arlen Brielle or the Silver Eagle we'll just assess how he gets through Saturday, how his fitness is. Those two races are still on the cards as I guess a King Charles probably is but then again he's got to take that next step at wait for age against some pretty handy customers at the time so no we'll just assess how he comes through Saturday. It wouldn't really worry us if we had to go straight to the Eagle just off a trial but yeah I think those sort of things are probably decisions for Sunday and Monday at this time.
Speaker 2Is there anything in Melbourne you can get him down to because I know that you have always taken horses to that Melbourne carnival if they have you know the ability and their program works well is he has he got enough petrol in the tank do you feel to get through a Golden Eagle campaign and then you have something you can target down there too or is it all focused on Sydney?
Speaker 5No look we've CF all stakes which is two weeks after the Golden Eagles always always been in the playbook so you know Gran Fon. Gran Fon is obviously the Golden Eagle but if he comes through that well we'll most certainly be looking at taking him down to Melbourne.
Speaker 2Beautiful so that's Skyhook Saturday race nine number two putters and he goes around in the Shannon stakes just jumping back and having a look at last weekend you must be wrapped with how General Salute returned in that to Bill Ritchie what did the team make of the performance?
Speaker 5He's done a great great job for all concerned the owners have been very patient with him he's had his little niggles and troubles a lot he's had a lot of fun with him he's had a lot of fun with him he's had a lot of fun with him and he's had a lot of fun with him. Speaker 2Chilly girl, what do we do with her, Sterling Alexio?
Speaker 5Still just thinking on that. She won't go to the flight stakes. You know, we sort of felt she'd run 1,400 on Saturday. Tim said she was terrific. She was tough. She just doesn't run out to seven. So we know that now. Probably give it till over the weekend. We've just kept her trotting around here at the stables, whether we freshen her up for a Roman Consul. She could head down to Melbourne for a Roses, or we could give her a break and get her ready for the sunlight up at the Magic Neon. So they're all three options we're looking at. We've just got to discuss that with Bert in the next few days. Philly's fine. She'd come through that run good. But we'll probably make up our mind on Monday, one way or the other.
Speaker 2How did Matthias pull up after the Cameron run, the Newcastle run?
Speaker 5He was great. You know, probably out of his comfort zone a little bit, sort of pretty handy first up, just run out of Carrot's late. He'd come through that good. He'll have another trial and he'll run in the Big Dance wildcard on the 17th at this stage. If he misses a run there, because he's still quite down in the benchmark ratings. I think he's around a sort of 83 or 84. If he misses a run there, we'll just have to sort of reassess where we go with him. But this stage, that's where we're aiming at running the Big Dance wildcard.
Speaker 2And last but not least, you had a horse in today called Chinta at Hawkesbury. You scratched. I see in the noms for Kembler on Saturday.
Speaker 5Yeah, she's still got a long way to come. She's got something there to work with. But she just lacks a bit of race sense at the minute. I think, you know, we've, well, Ronnie's been really patient with the Wanlis family, but she just got a few little quirks. She's got to iron out race day until you see the best of her.
Speaker 2Is there a bet for us coming up? Is it Skyhook? Are you very, are you confident? Because when you were confident last time, you said have a bet, you were bang on.
Speaker 5Look, he's going terrific. He's improved. I just think Saturday shapes as a trickier race, Mac-wise. I don't think he's going to enjoy as good a time on Saturday. They, you know, the jockeys will be well aware of his sort of profile and being a bit of a shorty. They're not going to make it easy for him early, but look, if he gets run of the race stuff, he'll be incredibly hard to beat.

Private Eye, which Sterling did speak about a lot in that interview, $4.40, $1.55 to place. And then we go out to Estadio Mestalla and Magneteer at $9. Adrian's pretty confident putting it on top, but is it worth a bet at the $1.90,

I did send you a text during that interview day, but I kind of wanted to ask Sterling if he's better ridden on top of the speed when he's allowed to roll this horse, because he kind of hits a little bit of a flat spot, and he hit it in the Theo Marks last time out. So there is a little bit more speed than I thought. I kind of picked up the race and thought, oh, he'll get an easy time on speed. But you pick up the map and you go punch lane, can push forward. Sovereign Hills here, he goes forward. Private Eye jumps well. And if he wants to do it, he just kind of looked after him. So if I think that horse last time, and if he switched on on Saturday, this is a race he could win. Skyhook goes forward. Estadio's got a little bit of pace. Magneteer off one goes forward. So there's a little bit of pressure here. So we'll have a track pattern by this stage of the day as well. So yeah, he's probably the default top pick at the moment, but you're not getting $3 like we were last time.
Speaker 2A couple of horses that have been back to Adrian in New South Wales with Tab at nine o'clock. Here we go. So they've got the two meetings today at Hawkesbury and Goulburn. They backed, uh, firstly only one at Hawkesbury race five, number two. Uh, so race five, number two, Balenciaga has been well backed at the three 40 price. It currently is now

In the first, of course, it was. And another one here comes is Calvin Harris, Wayne Harris' son. No, or not that we're aware of, but trying to get tickets for Nath. Tom Dabney, good morning to you. Good morning. How's your morning been so far? How is this horse that we love, I'll Live Another Day, hitting into Sunday?
Speaker 6He's great. His first up run was excellent in winning at Caulfield. And then he started to win. Short price favourite at Flemington and was a little bit disappointing, but it was his first time down the straight. And he's a horse that's got very good soft track for me. Flemington was a good three. And he was just a bit vulnerable in a straight line, not accelerating off a bend. So he was beaten 1.6 lengths, but it was under pressure 1.6 lengths. And I think he'll be a lot more comfortable getting back to Caulfield where he's undefeated at this point. And he's drawn a good gate in five, which gives us options that he should get a nice smooth run.
Speaker 2And does that mean that we won't see him around or down the straight again?
Speaker 6Probably not at this stage. I know Harry Coffey made some comments that he wouldn't be frightened of going back down the straight again. But I think there's only one straight track in Australia and so many other options. of sprint races around the bend at this stage. I think competing at that better level, we're probably better playing to his strength at this stage, yeah.
Speaker 2OK. If he does, you know, improve and can win at Caulfield, you're going to be asked the question again, and I know that the owner has said that he wasn't interested entirely in the Tab Everest, but surely there's going to be a carrot dangled in front of you.
Speaker 6Yes, well, we've sort of left it that we're just going to reassess the situation after Sunday. And to judge him on his performance and how he pulls up, we'd only consider it if we thought that the horse was good enough to compete in a race like that. And I think Sunday will certainly answer a few questions for sure.
Speaker 2There was a bit of a rumour going around that you'd been sounded out by a few slot holders. Is that true?
Speaker 6Yes, there was a couple of inquiries. So we sort of got back to them and just sort of said, look, if we can finalise or talk about what we're going to do next. So we'll do that after Sunday. But at this stage, Andrew Harrison, the owner breeder, is not entirely in favour of going to the Everest. But I must admit that we've left it that we're going to see how he performs on Sunday and then make a decision, yeah.
Speaker 2Is there a reason why he's not? Is it purely the carrying rising factor?
Speaker 6That's definitely one of the factors. And he's a four-year-old that, I know that younger horses have had an OK record in the race, but he was a late starting horse and he's still, in the scheme of things, lightly raced. So it's, you know, I'm sure it's not beyond him, but for a Melbourne horse, taking on the proven horses on the other leg and things, there's a few little challenges in that. And again, you know, he might be better equipped for a race like that in 12 months' time than he is now.
Speaker 2OK. It sounds, though, like, and I know that you've sort of put the caveat there of the time will be to his benefit, but it does sound like that if the green light was given to you, his performance is good on Sunday, green light given to you and the owner, you're very much in favour of it. You're backing the horse's ability.
Speaker 6I'm sure the horse has got the ability and I'm sure, you know, Kei-Ying Rising is probably scaring off a lot of the rivals in that most people probably think they're competing for, you know, second or third, fourth placings and things in the race. But I don't think you can base your decision around one horse. You know, as we all know, things can go wrong with horses and Kei-Ying Rising, while at this point looks unbeatable, you know, he's got to be at his, at his best too. And again, so, so I think at this stage, look, I would be thinking the Everest is unlikely, but we, we were certainly receptive to talking about it after Sunday. And if he, if he performs well enough.
Speaker 2And the last question for me on 11 other days, he was down the straight exposed. For a lot of that race, we have seen him though, when he has had the opportunity to, to sort of sit behind and get a tiny bit of a, a smother. He's got this electric turn of foot, a little bit like the old man. Do you feel as though that is possibility with him to, to ride him, not with cover, but just with that sort of bit of patience and, and a smother and, and let him rip? Or is it, does he just begin to brilliantly that you can't dictate where he is in the
Speaker 6run? Look, from gate five, you, you would, like the scenario that, that something comes across and, and sits outside the favourite in Bovoyak. And if that happened, we might get that fourth one off position, which would be perfect. But again, we won't try and overcomplicate it. We'll just try and have our horse where he's comfortable. And that will be normally if he steps cleanly, it would be in a handy position. But yes, ideally you'd like to, to be in a, in a slightly stalking role with something taking you into the, into the race. I would think, I mean, this race is eight individual group one winners in it. And it's, it's going to be his toughest test on paper, but there is talk that there's a little bit of rain forecast for Melbourne on Saturday. So if that came, that would help us as well. Probably help a few of the others potentially, but, but our horse definitely, I think around a bend and softer surface, you will see him at his best.

Speaker 3I don't know much about him. I'll be honest with you. I've never actually profiled the horse. So it's interesting to see what he does in the weekend. I mean by that profile the horse. Well, he's never popped up in Sydney. So I haven't actually had a deep dive into his form or looked at him or a bit like James Jordan when he when you ask him about Sydney horses when they don't come across you. Yeah, I don't know much about him, but interesting to see what he does. This 30 meter rail has got my head spinning. No on the weekend. So how's that track going to play? If anyone out there in Melbourne and be interesting might ask James Jordan on Friday how he thinks that tracks going to play on Sunday with that 30 meter rail,
Speaker 4but if he wins Dave and he wins, well, surely Everest.
Speaker 2Well, he's going to be asked surely now hundreds of people not hundreds, but slot holders are going to be asking and saying right over you available, but then it comes down to I guess owner discretion. Yep. What do you want to do where you're going to go?
Speaker 3What's the tab going to do? I don't know. I don't know who ever wins.
Speaker 2I don't know. I think well, I do think they will pick whatever wins this race. They will try and pick that horse. So if it is a bavock Jimmy with the blinkers Jimmy star, so I guess the the mentality is with you know, some of these slot holders like we've still got I saw a graphic that race in New South Wales put out yesterday. So Newgate still have to pick a horse. James Haran was another one. There was a big list that they put out a big, Mulberry Mulberry Racing. So who do they pick? Inglis Inglis because we had the announcement of course of headwall Godolphin. Will we know tempted probably for them? Who does Chris Waller pick jolly star? So it would be jolly star. It'll be jolly star. She was good on the weekend.
Speaker 3Okay. So who does Inglis pick? No idea that but it's a bit of a moving weekend. Isn't it? Isn't it though? You've got Saturday with the three-year-olds. I think top three in that Golden Rose on the weekend. They're all going to be looked at and then you put them in a Carter Angel. Capital capital. Yeah, cool. More pick guest house. Yeah, James Haran. Who does he pick? Don't know but he's crafty with the way he I want to try and chat to James next Tuesday on the program about where his heads up because he is crafty with how he does this. He had giga kick and everyone thought he was absolutely no chance when he came to the Everest and look what he did. So he's yeah, he's crafty with how he chooses his horse. So I want to pick his brain and see where his heads at. We're only a month out from this Everest.
Speaker 4Yeah, the slots generally fill up quicker than this boy much quicker. So calling really is scaring a lot of slot holders.
Speaker 3Well, the deals are different. The deals are being done different. I watched Trek on Tuesday night and even Henry Field said the way he's doing his deals this year completely different to way he weighs. He's done it before and they've obviously had success with think about it with the new partnership when they bought their slots. So they've got a bit of I guess mo in the kit bag to use over the next few years. But yeah, he said he's structuring his deals differently and he'd be happy to run second third fourth or fifth this year.

Speaker 2to a golden pendant a group two on on saturday at rose hill how are we feeling going into it apart from the general just excitement of having this mare you know at this group two level which you've been to before mind you but but she looks like she's come back in in better shape this
Speaker 7prep i i think so she's matured um she's more seasoned and ready for this um she's always shown her really good ability and and hence why we put her in these sorts of races before and she's competed in this grade um this prep i'm yeah i just think she's just taken another step she is very well going into the race she's worked well she's a very happy horse very happy with the three weeks between runs going into a second up run um yeah so i obviously i'm excited but i i'm pretty confident she'll race very
Speaker 2well she's uh not a you know a huge mare so does she take much work at home to to get her up and firing or can you sort of be a little bit easier on her
Speaker 7oh she's just just normal just a standard sort of horse like she's she's got that um she's by castle becchio and she's sort of got that done deal line where they can get a little bit warm particularly after um a run so um just it's it's balancing her you know just make keeping making sure that she's happy but i'm not overtaxing her in her work as well

Speaker 7reign we always um he's such a good rider and like i said he is informed so um it'll be up to him ultimately um he'll just you know the instructions will be you go out there and judge it as as as you will i would love to see her a pair or two closer like somewhere midfield i think that's her where she wants to be and i think that's where she wants to race but we just keep drawing really poor barriers um and so when you're drawing wide you either have to take your medicine and go back or just suck it up and be white so um she's drawn six of nine she still can't draw the inside of a nine hole field but um you know like the important thing is that she's got cover if she can be a pair closer it is a small field so i don't know how genuine the race is going to be run i'll have to go have a look at the speed maps and that sort of stuff um today and tomorrow um but yeah i'd like her a pair closer if it's

Speaker 7she's good she's good um tough to decipher that run i thought her run was uh was um okay it was pretty good in um the t rose on saturday i thought the track was maybe a little bit on pace biased and they just those run on horses weren't sort of getting their full chance um we're just going to go we'll probably go back in grade we may not go to the line not not 100 sure what we're doing there yet
Speaker 2okay uh and what about uh just generally with the stable and we're chatting with sheree curtis you've gone to this real sort of uh boutique number with your stable when you're downsized and you want to really sort of focus on some of these you know good horses you've got coming through um what's happening with that horse that's now listed as spelling um boohenia
Speaker 7boohenia um boohenia trialed in almost a couple of weeks ago and she injured herself in the trial oh bugger uh no it's very very sad so she's she's quite okay but we are at a stage of the um the season where it's breeding season right now um so if she'd done the injury in november then she'd definitely come back to racing she's done it in september so it is likely that she will be served um by i think um cooks are talking maybe pinatubo um and then depending on if she goes in fall and that sort of stuff you know the decision will be made on on her future so um i would say it's quite possible we've seen the end of her racing
Speaker 2unfortunately okay that that is a shame uh sheree if modella is to get the group two when was the last time you won a group two at rose hill
Speaker 7i don't know it was a while ago it was when we were training on his own
Speaker 2so you're going to bring some magic luck back to it 100 with with the name in the book i like it it would be special to get uh a group win on your home track and then who knows where she can go where is she going to go modella um i'd like i'd
Speaker 7like an invitation i think that i think that's a perfect race for her that's in four weeks um she would need another run in between most likely unless we gave her a tick over trial so there is a possibility of an alan brown she's in the nominations for the epsom but it's probably we'll just take it run by run um and then if we don't get an invitation you know there's an empire stakes tournament in flemington i thought this you know um flemington would be a nice track for a big um big straight um so there's lots and lots of options but i think the invitation is the the main goal at the moment i hope she runs

Speaker 8either no she's been fantastic both runs in um didn't get a lot of luck first up and then just probably not as sharp as she was first up over 14 just got in an awkward spot but really attacked the line and she's going well and and obviously looking for the mile now

Speaker 8it was okay for the race shape and and track played against him um and he sort of worked the line okay he was good through the line but probably were expecting a little bit more he seems to come out of it fine and and he worked up this morning and and looks fantastic so um yeah definitely push on to the metrop now with him but um he needs to to come up another level from what we saw on
Speaker 2saturday all right and uh perfumers i know it wasn't saturday but we go to what we saw at newcastle on that friday uh mate how good was perfumers she was
Speaker 8fantastic and she'd been showing that at home um she was uh really good in her trial she was an electric in a track gallop at kensington and um bjorn credit to him he did a few things different this time just to make sure she was ready first up to a little bit of a questionable first up record but she was really on song there at newcastle and um she was dominant so uh great to see her back um she was good last prep without probably reaching that level she did the the prep before so um i think she's right back on track now and really pleased
Speaker 2with her so we go to saturday at rose hill look firstly war woven inside gate golden rose rachel king on board very good last start in the run of the rose tell us why if we're having a punt why does he win the golden rose
Speaker 8yeah look you're going to get a very economical run from gate one um he's got great tactical speed he'll put himself in the first few and obviously drawing inside he'll need a little bit of luck when it counts but um you know he'd be in that first half of the field which i think is gonna gonna be a benefit um around rose hill and no doubt a tough race but yeah we couldn't be any happier with him at home he's improved again out of that last run so you know he's there with a good chance in a very good way competitive race that's
Speaker 2war woven blue door we go to in a heritage so nash on board a little bit tricky with six um she was good last start though on the san dominico
Speaker 8it was fantastic it could could work out to be some of the best form behind guest house uh they're in track record time she couldn't be going any better she's had a nice gap between runs nash galloped her on tuesday and was really happy with her so um she's got great gate speed uh and early speed to offset that game and i think she finds a front and she's going to be very hard to run down she's um yeah going really well is singer

Speaker 8yeah yeah it all lines up it all lines up it all lines up it definitely looks a very good race for her and in quite possibly uh might not be as strong as what her last two have
Speaker 2been pillow fight uh tell us about this mare from uh by zoostar her first up run behind the blade was that a pass mark for you guys
Speaker 8yeah definitely i thought she was fantastic bit of race shape against her they didn't go that quick and she sort of was able to work the line really well she's definitely a better mare when she gets up on speed whether she gets that chance on saturday from an awkward gate um she definitely improves when she gets the blinkers on as well which she hasn't on saturday so i i think once she gets to a mile you probably see the best of her but um just have to work out what the race shape looks like on saturday and i think she's going to be a good race shape on saturday and i as to whether she can roll forward and get in a good spot or whether she might have to take of medicine and hit the line again and look for next start.
Speaker 2And the horse from Armadale, which you guys received from Sterling Osland and great Nick, you're on second at Premier's Cup, you win then the Tats Cup, and we now roll into a Colin Stephen, and he's got this motor, doesn't he? So you are.
Speaker 8Yeah, he's going really well. He galloped outstanding on Tuesday, obviously just had a setback in not being able to go to the Newcastle Cup last week, which is unfortunate, but he bounced out of that quickly. He's got a nice race on Saturday. He's got to carry a bit of weight and give a bit of weight away to the others, but he's got a great racing style. He'll be able to roll forward and make his own luck and he looks really well placed.
Speaker 2Best of those four? Blue Door. Blue Door, race six, number one in the Heritage Stage, so Nashawilla and Singo and the team. Find that if Singo's on track, Luke, because if he is, look out. There's a tip for the punters. He might do a bar shot or something. Pericles. Lovely. Pericles. Are you going down Sunday or is Bjorn going down Sunday for the Manicato?
Speaker 8Bjorn's going down Sunday. He's in really good order. A little bit trickier. The gates we were really hoping for, you know, somewhere up to four or five. He's drawn ten, so it's a little bit awkward, but it looks to be good natural speed in the race and obviously 1,200 below his distance range. He's never actually raced at 1,200, so it's a new one for him, but he's got a lovely crew. Cruising speed. I'll leave it to Craig to find the best spot for him in the race. Knows that track and the horse well, actually, as well. So he's got a great first-up record. He's got he gets around Caulfield. He obviously won the group one for charity over 1,400 first-up last time. So yeah, it's an interesting one, being only at 1,200, but he shows really good speed here at home. I don't think he's going to be out of place with the tempo of the race. Just needs a little bit of luck from the gate
Speaker 2And then today, can we give the listeners a few winners today? I see you've got young Amber Riddell riding Camden Cove for you at Goulburn Invasion. You've got going around at Goulburn 2 and Flight of Power at Hawkesbury
Speaker 8Yeah, no, great to have Amber with us on a three-month stint from New Zealand. She's obviously won an Apprentice Premiership over there and outridden a claim in New Zealand. So she's over here now. She's got three kilos in town, which Bjorn will look to utilise and she's doing a great job. So good to give her a good opportunity today. Camden Cove was a really good first-up in a good race at Hawkesbury. Just probably did a few things wrong. Gets the blinkers on today and a good gate. He'll roll forward and he should be hard to run down. And Flight of Power, I think is also a good chance today. He was fantastic first-up at Hawkesbury. Gets a similar set-up from a good gate with Jason Collard on. So I think both those are very good chances today.
