Depends on who you're not strong enough. For long enough, over the course of the game. And it's holding us back. Just defensively, really cool. And we need to be better. You just need to be able to dig in and run. We just didn't do that at the level that we needed. So the reality is that defensively, we haven't been strong enough. We're just getting scored against too much. When a side presses, stand up. Stand up. It comes at point where you have to stand up for the football club. And then you use those words. We had to stand up and we didn't. And this is a tough, tough watch if you're in the Navy Blue. That's not a back six question. That's an intent from the whole team to get that done. Across the whole year, based on the transition of the game, there wasn't a level that needs to be. It's the eighth time it's happened for the year. They've had a five plus goal run against them. That to me is not system. It's not talent. It's not wanting to have that moment where you stand up for your football club. St. Cudas highest scoring quarter for the season. Our ability to be able to do it for a longer period of time is not at the level that needs to be out. And when the game is against you, you need to defend and you need to fight. And we are not doing it well enough. I can't be any clearer than that. There's a tough story for Blues fans, stuff the aisles and our. I haven't really beat the traffic anymore there with Kalt. No, you've got to leave it around the end of your month. Kalt football club made a big call last year to keep Michael Voss and it hasn't worked. Who would be a coach, eh? Who wants to do this? Seriously, you've got to be a man. You've got to be a man. When the post-match address comes to the press conference, a uniquely perplexing team at one and seven, the team that takes fright rather than fights when faced with the challenge of second halves. How many times do you think we could play all that again over the course of one season, or in the space of eight rounds? It's just the same thing, Jared. Over and over, you know, we talk about our show today and we bounce ideas around and you sit there going, well, there's nothing changed. It's the same thing happening over and over again. You know, Michael's got the toughest job is to front up and try and put a different spin on it. He was much more poignant in his press conference this week because I think he just had a gut fall. I don't know, we can sit here and we can pontificate and we can work it out and all those numbers that got thrown around last night and over the weekend, they're all absolutely true. So inevitably, it's leading us to probably one conclusion, which is not something that I find palatable at all, but I think that's where they've got to go. It's just in what happens on the field before we get to that, that the failure of leadership, and that's how they clearly talk about it. They plan for it. And then they're hit by paralysis when the moment arrives, which is unusual in sports. Sport is typically defined by, I will conquer this, I will conquer this, I will conquer this. They're breaking, they're breaking point of ride before that even lost the lead on Saturday night. And that's when it gets to the terminal stage, which is the conversation we're about to have. That's when your club's in a almost desparal, because the weight, you're at the weight, it gets to the point where you can't move. And you know it's coming, and you can be the greatest commentator in the world, because you go, "I think I know what's coming here," and it comes. And some of these players who are being a part of this, right now they're living through their nightmare, but when we go back and reflect on their careers, there's a couple, well, particularly one, it's one of the greatest players of the modern era in Paddy Cripps. And he can't seem to change it, Jared. So this weight has just got too much for the club, and for the players to bear. Well, it's not a hopeless situation, but we spoke today about someone saying, "Oh, well, you know, they're going up the Brisbane, and that means it's kind of dumb." No one expects them to go out the Brisbane, and if they went out the Brisbane and won, it's probably summing up, really, in the end. So, no, I take no joy or pleasure, and I listen to you this morning, and I listen to all the carton supporters, and there's no joy in any of that. But it's the same thing every Monday morning, over and over and over. And they're in the same way. There's an exhaustion to it, and some of what is coming through. So, we are at a point where, and this was the floor of the setup of the season was Michael Voss's in the final year of his contract, so how would he win the next contract? And there is now no conceivable path to winning the next contract. That's where they are at one and seven. So, what to do? Yeah, and this is not our MO, but these are the options that are on the table now, for the carton footy club, as they sit here tonight. And the first ones do nothing. So, we committed to you. You see it through, and we'll work it out. Well, that's just unpalatable on every level. Now, can you afford to do that, Jared? Because your fans are walking out, and your sponsors say that's do nothing. The next thing is to move on, Michael, and then say, okay, you coach to the end of season, that doesn't work. We've seen that. We've seen that over the years. Peter Schwab tried it, Tony Shaw might have tried it. That, once you make a decision, you make a decision. So, it's a point on, you know, one of the assistants who's there, but one of the assistants who's there is part of this problem as well. So, you'll get some freedom. The weight will lift halfway if one of the assistants comes over, but I suspect that, you know, that might make a difference. And then you get to the, you've got to think outside the square kind of thing. And this is, you know, our man's not going to enjoy this, Jared. But it's, go on a point out of Simpson who's there, and say, look, he's similar or coming here. You probably, my phone will go, but he don't want to coach. He said he doesn't want to coach. But for the next 12 weeks, you point him and say, listen, you've got carte blanche. You do whatever you want for this 12 weeks. He's got strength, you know, he's got unbelievable strength that we see in the media that he can go and teach, and particularly from Stoppage and all that sort of stuff. And then let the other coach's coach throw the team around, the weight that would come off the group, Jared. The weight would come off straight away. We move on as a media. Well, no one's breaking for Vossi to get sacked. But this is with the pressure amounts and amounts. We move on and they're left to go and chase the best coach they possibly can beyond. You know, I don't think Adam would do that, by the way. So you'd probably end up with one of the assistants. But I don't know. And Michael, he would be fighting as hard tooth and nail doing everything he possibly can. But in the end, it's too much. It's just too much. And I look at Jacob Weedring and these proud footballers who kind of, it looked to me like it's got even, it's even got to him over the past month. And when I look at that, I go, no, something's got changed. So there's the balance I think between spending too long in care, take a mode, or wasting two-thirds of the season. Is can they collectively in this setup still strive for anything and make games? And that's where, so what we heard from Voss on Saturday night is absolutely what he's preaching and it's not getting any sort of response. It's not the what, the what is dead obvious. It's the why and the how that is proving the Lucive for the group. And sometimes the change is just has to be done for that very reason. That nothing is changing. The same thing is happening over and over again. And the damage is done internally from the fully club point of view, but there's external elements of all this as well, Jared, which need to be taken into consideration. So change or change or sake is never what I'm about, but change is change for the fact that you're not getting anywhere with what you've got who's been a long-term coach. Anyway, I don't, as I say, I don't like saying that, but it seems to be an evidence ability and if you clearly haven't arrived at that conclusion, if you arrive at the conclusion you make the decision banks straight away. You don't leave them in there, you don't leave the coach in there if you've got a move to be made and you've spoken about. So maybe they're not doing that at this stage, I don't know, but I just, I don't want to come here next Monday and go, "Gee, they led the Brisbane Lions by a go and a half time and got beaten by 14," which is happened for the last five, six weeks. The hard part now is if they do collapse, and they don't play their first halves and they start to get beaten by big margins. I do think in these moments there's the treat you people with respect, the Michael Voss's old respect, there's the don't make it unnecessarily torturous, if you're not going to go with him next year then what's the right point? There's a natural break at the buy, which is round 14 where you can have the mature conversation as to where we are, but on your point then how do you navigate the next five weeks in a scenario that is becoming increasingly hopeless? Yeah, and what does that, yeah, let's go through the buy, I will say, and I've said this consistently through everything else, the way Michael handles himself in front of up and under the most extreme pressure and he's had some, you know, unprecedented scenarios to deal with, EG, the Hewitt situation. I think faultless. He hasn't lost, from a coaching point of view, yes, you know, of course your question and query, all that, that's legitimate and he understands that, but in terms of how he's led the club outside of that, he's beyond reproach. So he won't, you know, it's just not working, that's what it is. Yeah, don't damage a good man at the end. No, you have to land that part of it rice. All right, well you're going to have to answer to Simo and Winnesday, not that much, I know. No, the phone just went for it. I have what we didn't have on our Bingo cars in the weekend was a whiteboard, but briefly the Brisbane Lions whiteboard is says notorious as Rose Kelly's back in the day and the sports rorts affair as it feels like collectively we've taken fright at the view of what a ruthless winning culture looks like. I'm just, it's poor behaviour on behalf of that person that came into the club and did it and it shouldn't be out there in the public domain because that was never the intention of it. I imagine every club would have a strengths and weaknesses whiteboard doing a bit of a preview and review and first off on that. So yeah, it is really disappointing, then we'll have to certainly do some things in regards to security. I probably shouldn't say weaknesses on that, should say growths, that's the way that we do it. So that's something we'll tie it up throughout the week and I spoke to Jackson prior as well after the game and before the game, so he's all good. It's, look, it's a problem for them to deal with for us. I wouldn't want that coming out about building. Some of the extrapolations here, I've found absolutely breathtaking and to use it to question the culture of the club, I just frankly think is wrong. To me, the lion should feel no embarrassment and no need to apologise, but I haven't lived in these environments. What say you? Well, the greatest beat-ups I've seen for a long time, dude, I think they must have known that it was going to be leaked. That's my initial reaction is, oh no, they left that there for anyone. That is the most respectful, kindest, modest opposition analysis I've ever seen. Ever. You want to put some of stuff that we used to get handed to him about, you know, you're playing college, you're going, well, count and you're going, well, we're back. It appears to me that they're all friends and I understand each other there, but in terms of weaknesses and strengths, boy, jingoes, let me distribute one from back in the day and you'll find out what it really looks like. The presence of Michael Price girlfriend's name, we can pretend to be outraged by it and we can pretend that it's something else or we can just acknowledge that it's an in-joke and he bats above his average, which as far as I can tell is one of the jokes that sustains in Australia in life and hasn't yet been cancelled. Yeah, well. So let's save the po-face stuff for when something truly serious happens. Oh, she might be a strength of his. He may be, this is extrapolating. I don't know either of them. It was just a sensational sequence of events at the end of the showdown. The whole week had been about espousing the virtues of this game in Adelaide and then it turned in a virtuoso conclusion. When Joe Berry, if you go home and watch that, not now in the result, Joe Berry kicks that goal. If you're an Adelaide supporter, you look at Matthew Nick's. If you're an Adelaide supporter, you're looking exactly like Josh Carl. We've got one here. We've got Adelaide and Matthew Nick's. How did we let this slip? In the space of 40 seconds, the whole thing had flipped on its head and the controversy. If you throw the controversy into the mix as well, then I had put Adelaide held onto that win and then the non-Miller-a-goal would have been thrown up in the mix. It was a special day. So the Milrose stand up in the tackle when I watch that again. All these moments get re-plugged, highlighted. That was unbelievable. Then the kick. It's inside out. We see a lot of these days. This inside out right foot. We see the dinky little 15-meter, 20-meter, as they come inside. But the kick at 40-meter is inside out. That's pretty rare. Is it a good play? Is that a good year? The chef? So, I love that. You, just the genre of thriller that has the score, the lead-changed hands twice in the last minute, it's pretty rare. And it is spectacular for what you've just said. You think you want and then you have it ripped away. The rollercoaster. And we're told, and again, this rivalry that just gets getting talked up and up and up, that we don't appreciate because we're over here. The rollercoaster of emotion in both those hits and supporters in the last minute is heart. You'd love to have a heart rate on the CheersCord. Yeah, because they were, they were, they were gone. So I think Kenny was spoused. He was, he had it above the ashes. His rivalry, I think. Dwight went whole as a bowl of water. No, I'm like, how lucky were we to have Dwight and call that game for what it's all about. Yeah, he was perfect. No, it's a, yeah, the build out. The greatest rivalry in footy. So I'm waiting for Colin Lundt and all those, the Esadam and Allthon to get going, but it is a great rivalry. But then when it got to the extrapolated to the best rivalry in a straight in sport, so now we're, now we're rolling. But what it does, you know, deserves a standalone Friday night slot. Or you can wait for next year and do it with Adelaide, but they have won the right to be trusted with it. And then to see what it looks like. See what the national numbers, whether everyone buys into it or not, but they have consistently produced these games which are quite separate to their formlines. They are to be trusted with it. No, we'd be over the moon to be able to sit down and cover that on a Friday night on a standalone. Or if you're back here in Melbourne to sit down and watch it, I don't think there's any issue about that whatsoever. Can I raise the behaviour of the arc with you? If you cast your mind back on your feet, it's very pretty. If you cast your mind back to Wednesday night, Greg's one said he had told his goal umpires, if you are confident, go with your call and we will back here. Yes. We'll not come over the top and second guess. And then this happened. Again, watch the goal umpires position against the goal post and how he gets himself directly underneath the flight of the ball. It's two really good weeks of coaching from Adam Uze in the face of mounting adversity. And the reward came over in the West with the Tigers' first win of the season. And this was a little of what happens behind closed doors in the aftermath. They kick a goal, minute to go, minute half to go. If we look at experience and their youth, have a look at the organisation on who's doing what, and then you know the result of this. And they have sight been around it. But to me, assist them overrides everything. If you can do that with that youth in a team, the players you've got out, he lost the ground. If you talk about helping someone else, who felt that he helped you when he come off the ground? I'll put my hand up. A coach in waiting, just going, "I feel like shit, I've just hurt my calf, but you're more important right now." Like I said, at one o'clock, we had our f***ing f***er, we caught the few early, and that was just grit. And by not being perfect, we just had to fight during that time, and we'll work out different ways of having to kick it out. Okay, celebrate this together. Recover really well, but at the same time, make sure you enjoy that taste, because it's what we know. Winning. A spirit and grit and fights. Yeah. No, it's fantastic. It's nourishment. The nourishment that comes with winning. So, I think Adams is a really good coach, and I'm a bit biased, so I'll put my hand up. But he would be selling that message all year. Would have been selling a similar message all year, but when you haven't got the winder back it up, it doesn't matter. You get close to the messages there. You get close to the air, you get close to the air, you push Melbourne, you're in front against Melbourne, whatever. But then when you don't win, it gets washed down the drain a bit. It gets in the shower, and it washes over and down the drain. But when you're wind, it sticks. It's sticky. And it's the stench of winning that stays with you. Otherwise, you just wash it. The stench of trying hard, but no four points gets washed down the drain. But they'll come back on that plane, and that'll be worth six winds along the way. And as good as it is for the players, it'd be equally as good for the coach. The players they progressively lost along the way, and when Sam Lawler, I think all of our shoulders drop with Sam Lawler and that news on Thursday, and that the team wasn't crushed by it, they got headed in the last quarter. They said they played the better footy, but when they got headed in the last quarter, you're thinking, "It's pat on the head, but it's not going to. " So to stir from there, and Wesco's to know great shakes, but on their home deck, in a game that mattered a lot to that footy club, and the fact that they'd been headed, it said a lot about character. And then the pieces along the way is the bolter move into the rug that we saw firsthand, Melbourne, and then what he did, ruck forwards on the weekend. That's retooled them a little bit. Just don't accept your fate. This is excellent coaching. Yeah, you find out about what you've got at your disposal in these circumstances, and the other value is when you're on the road, you're on the road. This is the reality of it, because you're together. You celebrate the win together, you stay around together, wait for the bus, you get on the bus, that's the win, the bus mood is a hell of a lot different than when you're going to the airport and you're lost, and then you get on a plane together. That element of it, which adds to the fact that it's much more than just one four point victory. So well under the fans, well under the boys, well under the fans, they're sticking with them, and that's for a week anyway. Yeah, winners. You didn't want them to stay winneless for much longer in this season.
