Buy or Sell! Cole Ragans Is Hurt! Robby Snelling Promoted! (5/7 Fantasy Baseball Podcast)

The podcast covers a flurry of pitcher injuries, with Cole Ragans leaving early due to tricep and elbow soreness, raising fears of an IL stint, while Tyler Glasnow’s back spasms are less concerning due to his history. Matthew Boyd requires knee surgery from a fluke injury, likely sidelining him until the second half. Logan Webb is also being evaluated for knee discomfort, adding to a frustrating week of injuries that includes other top pitchers. On a positive note, Robbie Snell (likely Robbie Ray) is being promoted. Shane McClanahan has rebounded with improved command, though his pitch limits cap his value. Andy Pagés is thriving with a .336 average and 8 homers, backed by harder contact, suggesting a sustainable breakout. The Nationals’ 15-run outburst is impressive, but their poor wOBA ranking indicates regression ahead, with CJ Abrams and James Wood benefiting from potential overperformance. Overall, the episode emphasizes the volatility of pitching and the need for strategic roster management.

Welcome to the fantasy baseball today podcast from CBS Sports Got a fantasy question email fantasy baseball at CBSi.com Get ready to win your league Now here's Frank Scott and Chris hello Welcome in to fantasy baseball today on Thursday, May 7th I am Frank sample joined by Chris towers to date on the show by or sell We have finally confirmed that Robbie Snell is being promoted to start this Friday And we are very excited about it But before we get to the excitement we have to start with bad news every day I just got a note you said the noun version. It's the verb version. Robbie Snell A is coming up Hmm Yes, I wanted to make sure nobody got confused Robbie Snelling. Yes getting the call you said snow oh Oh I just thought the basketball player. I've been doing that a Tony Snell was his name Tony Snell Tony Snell the famous zeros across the poor. It's okay any time I write a player's name like Connor Griffin Like ends like a Griffin. I always write griffing every single time. I do that too. Yeah, that's I don't know That's kind of like a weird Conscious slip. Yeah, I don't know. Oh, we have to start with bad news as we have many days recently another day goes by more picture injuries and this time It's Cole Reagan's who left early with left tricep and tricep and elbow soreness his velocity by any 96.9 95.1 93.2 in the third inning. He said that he felt soreness and tightness in the bottom of his tricep and the Back of his elbow quote. I've been through the elbow stuff. I know it's not what I've been through before so I guess some words of encouragement. It's not something that he's felt before but it's it's still an arm related injury So set for further evaluation tomorrow There was always risk with Cole Reagan's there's risk with almost any starting picture Chris But this seems pretty scary for him. Yeah, I mean over the last week. It seems like there's literally risk with every starting picture Yeah, Reagan's Look, the fact that he thinks it's different than the previous elbow injuries. Remember this guy who has had Tommy John surgery twice. He has not torn his UCL twice though. One was a revision of the previous Tommy John surgery if I remember him correctly, but still he he has torn his UCL The fact that he thinks it's different than that. I suppose is good news, but One athletes are kind of always more optimistic than they should be when it comes to their own health and two like that He's not a doctor. He does not have MRI eyes MRIs So he can't know what's going on, you know, hopefully It's not a UCL injury, but even if it's not a UCL injury there are many ways you can hurt your elbow that are not a torn UCL and can still cause significant time lost so I Hopeful that call Reagan suffered a minor injury and this is just a Joe Ryan Situation where he'll make his next start or maybe get pushed back a few days, but I don't think you can assume that I Think anytime you're dealing with a pitcher leaving a start early after significantly diminished velocity and then having an elbow injury You kind of have to assume it's gonna lead to an IL stint and you're just hoping it's 15 days and not 15 months, but That's the range when you're talking about elbows unfortunately. Yeah, I am operating under that assumption that Reagan's will land on the IL but you did offer some Refreshing news, I guess Joe Ryan who left his previous start with elbow soreness is set to make his next start He's going to start later this week, so and he left after just nine pitches. So I will say having watched breaking bad now though I do like seeing Joe Ryan Going out to make his next start. It's gonna be like when Walt's in the back of the car You know when he's handcuffed. I don't want to do like the big spoiler because it's one of the one he's like no No, that's that's kind of how I feel watching Joe Ryan until he like gets through the start healthy. Yes Please, please do that. So well wait until we can do with Cole Reagan's again He'll be evaluated further on Thursday. We'll learn more if he has to miss time I guess now and open up an opportunity for Steven Cole like to jump back into the rotation But he's not the only one Tyler glass now Yeah, that Tyler glass now he left his start after just one inning with it with lower back spasms So they don't expect him to land on the IL it could happen At least it wasn't arm related. So that's the glass half full take there for Tyler glass now this next one This is one of those I do want to jump in with glass now He's talked about this a lot it basically happens to him like twice every year Last year he had a start pushback due to back spasms. He ended up Missing I think he missed eight days and then came back and had an 11 strikeout seven no hit inning start so Hopefully it's nothing I think the way he referred to it as he has tall guy back and he just gets back in injuries every couple A couple times every year, but that one does sound Less concerning at least I hope my guy Aaron Judge never gets tall guy back Feels like he would be pretty susceptible to that but cross your fingers that never happens this next one I feel like this is one of those wacky entries you only hear that happens to baseball players I'm sure it happens in other sports just like wacky things. I just feel like you hear about it so much less Matt you boy that needs surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee and apparently he suffered the injury while sitting down to play with his kids What yeah, yeah, I mean look that there's I'm sure we've all got our favorite wacky baseball injury Clint barms Slipping while going up the stairs carrying venison meat that one of his teammates gave him is always a favorite This is always a hurting his back sneezing didn't someone get like their finger caught in their zipper like their pants zipper And they got yeah, who was that yeah, yeah, it was but that was a thing Fab mellow I think got a concussion because he hit his head on the doorframe in a hospital He was seven feet tall former NBA player Fab mellow job at Chamberlain broke his ankle playing on a trampoline with his kids too So oh who was Joel Zimaya remember Joel Zimaya getting hurt during the world series playing guitar hero Guitar hero right Someone on the marlins hurt their hand. Jesus was our dough. Did he hurt his hand playing video games? Yes, yeah, yeah I've been there before as well. I mean not not a not for good reasons Yeah, yeah, look this one's things because I really did think that Matthew Boyd was a prime by low-candidate all the underlying numbers I'm great loved what Matthew Boyd had going on this season the K-Dawak stuff was was really great for him and There's no timeline offered yet, but everything I've seen is like preemptively like second half of the season so yeah so meniscus injuries are really really hard to diagnose in terms of the timeline ahead of time because there are multiple different ways you can go about that you can remove the meniscus and Metal world peace remember that guy he missed like nine days With the meniscus tear because they just he was right at the end of this career They just removed the meniscus that is generally not what they want to do Because it can lead to really bad long-term issues So what you'll usually do is either they'll slice away the Injured portion the torn portion of the meniscus or repair if they do the Exition I think is what it's called it tends to be like eight to twelve weeks off the top of the head if you do a full repair that can be like a four-month Recovery timeline so this is one that we're not not likely looking at the super short-time period I feel like that almost never happens anymore I want to say Duane Wade had that when he was in college as well and it really caused some long-term issues but You know there's still a wide range of possible outcomes beyond that and We did get an update on Logan Webb kind of that he will undergo further evaluation on the left knee discomfort that he dealt with on Tuesday so he was really bad in that star perhaps it was knee-related but Hopefully there's you know nothing too serious going on with that knee there for Logan Webb But I mean Chris I feel like we get one of these stretches every year in the baseball season Honestly most of the time it happens in like spring training in April and I feel like we've made it a little bit further into the season But now we're getting that it's over the past week Terrick Scoobal, Garak crochet Now Cole Reagan's Logan Webb dealing with this glass now and then you know all the other big names too the hunters brown and green right so it's just We've lost so many already like twenty starting pictures and it's especially frustrating because we We've had some guys come back right tray a savage Spencer Strider's ac Wheeler have all come back and like the what last 10 days and You look on the horizon and the next two weeks will probably get Carlos Rodón and Blake snale Jared Jones, Gar-Cole? Yep. Back, and it's just, yeah, we can't have more pictures, though. There always has to be a tradition. That's the name of the game, a picture. We say it a million times a year, but it's all a tradition. It's, guys get hurt. Guys unexpectedly turn into, like, Logan Webb so far. Just bad pictures. It's, this is always the problem. And it's one of those large philosophical debates about fantasy baseball. How do you approach it? Do you get more pictures to overcome the attritionary? Just not invest in pictures at all. And well, two of the top three have already gotten hurt. So it's tough. Man, protect Paul Schien's at all costs. Put that guy in a bubble now and keep him healthy. Let's take our first break. When we return, we'll get into the players of the night. We'll hit the news. We've got all that coming right after this. Welcome back in fantasy baseball today. Let's get into the players of the night. Oh my goodness. Unbelievable. All right, Chris, you are up first. Who is your player tonight? I'll do a little Mayakulpa with Shane O'Mac, who I may have said looked cooked after his first four starts. His stuff was down. But more specifically, the velocity or the command was really poor early on. And it was just it didn't. It looked like he had to kind of reach back for extra just to get to a diminished version of who he was. And it was affecting his command. It doesn't look like that anymore. Shameh Klanahan has been really good over the past few starts in a way that looks pretty sustainable, mostly because he's gone from just a ton of walks early on to just four over his past four starts. I don't think Shane McLanahan is back. Like if this was the version of Shane McLanahan who came out in 2022, I doubt we would have come up with a fun drop that we use every time we reference him because I don't think he has like, is this the best pitcher in baseball? Question mark kind of upside anymore. Virtually because I think the race are going to keep baby hanging. I think he's going to get the jurors in treatment the rest of the way he's only throwing 90 pitches even once. So far this season his max is 90. He got pulled in the middle of the sixth inning today after 69 pitches last start. I think it was six full innings with 73 jurors has showed if you're a good pitcher, you can still be very valuable for fantasy with a very, very short leash. But seven innings starts are going to be really rare. Six innings starts are going to be pretty rare. So if you play in quality start leagues, point leagues, I do think there's going to be a soft ceiling on how good Shane McLanahan can be. But I think we've gotten away from the truly low floor outcomes that I was worried about. I don't think he's as good as he once was. I think he's obviously good and will be valuable. The problem is I can't tell you to go trade for Shane McLanahan, right? Because the risk, the injury risk is just always going to be there and it's never going to go away. So I think you're happy if you have him. Yeah, I don't know if there's anything else to say. Maybe you can trade him if somebody thinks, you know, he can still be a top 20 starting pitcher. I don't really think that's fair to expect from him. But I'm not worried that he's not going to be a top 50 pitcher anymore. I think he's a top 50 pitcher. Yeah, I moved him up to SP 46 today. Shane O back is not all the way back, but let's say 80 to 90% of Shane O back. Here comes the money. Here we go. Money talks. He's Shane O back. Shane O back 80 to 90% for five or six innings at a time for Shane McLanahan. Yeah, I think that deserves top 50 starting pitcher. Jurassicson. Jurassicson, that's P 45 for me. I think that's about and it's probably a situation where he's better in road to them points though. He's just not going to get a lot of the quality starts. The wind potential is going to be low-ish, but really a pitcher. Happy to have him back. I had a buy yourself for later on. Shane McLanahan is back to being a must-start pitcher. Do you buy that? Yeah. It's hard to see at this point sitting him. Okay, if he's in Colorado, I'd probably like a one-start week in Colorado, probably sitting Shane O back. But otherwise, I think you feel good about starting him moving forward. Agreed. Let's talk about Andy Pahez for three, three for five with a triple-dong six RBI. His last home run came on April 13th. So had a 20 game span in between where he did not home run a homer. He hit 250 with four steals during that span. But overall, just for how hot he started the season and after this massive game, he is hitting 336 still, eight homers, 33 RBI, six steals, a 945 OPS. And the expected stats still look really good. He's hitting the ball harder than he was last year. Buy yourself, Chris. Andy Pahez. Top 24, I'll feel the rest of season. Well, let's look. Because I, even being pretty low on him, that's probably not too far from where I ranked him coming in. I would guess he was around 30, 35. I'm not 100% sure on that. It's taking a while to load. I was trying to fill a buster. It could be top 24. I do think it's interesting that the skills that Andy Pahez showed last season. And the skills Andy Pahez is showing this season. They are kind of really different. Last season, Andy Pahez was really optimized for power. He had like a 21% pulled air rate. Last season, he didn't hit the ball all that hard. Plate discipline wasn't very good. So I think you are always going to get a pretty low batting average from him. I know he hit 272, but the expected stats were worse. But he had 27 homers because of the high pulled air rate and decent power. This season, what we're seeing is the plate discipline looks about the same. But he is hitting the ball about two miles per hour harder than he did last season. And there's a little bit of a swing speed adjustment there. Hard hit rate has gone from pretty poor at 37% to very good 52%. The problem is he's hitting the ball on the ground more often. He's not pulling the ball in the air more as often. He's hitting the ball to all fields a little more. So now it kind of looks like he's a little more optimized for batting average. Probably not a 336 batting average. I don't think I'm being unfair when I say I don't expect Andy Pahez to win a batting title. But this skill set looks like it could be like a 285 batting average. And you know, maybe 20 homers and 15 steals. And in that lineup, especially he's hitting clean up pretty regularly or fifth for them pretty regularly. I think so. I think there's a lot to like for Andy Pahez. But I do think there are some changes to his skill set. But top 24 seems reasonable enough. Yeah. Yeah. I got him up to Alphillard 22 in Roto in 24 and head to Ed points just for some reference for those listening that would put him. He's just behind O'Neal Cruz and Michael Harris. He's just ahead of Brent Rucker, George Springer, Jose Altove. That feels like the right spot to kind of slot him in. Ruckers are really tough one. I have a segment for Rucker later on. George Springer is a really tough one. Jaren Durran is a really tough one. Tyler Soderstrom is a really tough one. Those are all guys. I have Pahez 28th. I haven't updated them yet. This week could move him up, certainly think I will, but that's a hard range to figure out because I do think Brent Rucker has more upside. Andy Pahez, I think George Springer has more upside. Tyler Soderstrom, maybe not. That might be a fairly easy one. But yeah, I think somewhere between 20 and 24 sounds right for Andy Pahez. Yep. Maybe with your assessment, too, of just like the skill set that he showed and the expectations moving forward. I think I would take the over on 20 home runs. Maybe it's not 27 from last year. Maybe it's like 23 to 25, but good steals and great counting stats and that lineup and hitting like over to 280. That would be a really valuable player. This has been a collective miss for all of us. None of us were in on any Pahez this season. And I think it's just a good reminder that a 25 year old outfielder who had prospect pedigree is not a finished product. And so he can make adjustments and make improvements. And that's exactly what Andy Pahez has done. And to his credit has taken another step forward and is backed up by the underlying numbers, too. So feeling really good about Andy Pahez right now. Oh my goodness, gracious lineup of the night. The nationals, man, they pummeled the twins 15 to two. I keep waiting for this offense to slow down Chris. They are fourth in runs scored in all of baseball. I still think it's going to happen at some point, but you know, credit to their front office and players that are buying in there. They're doing things differently and clearly it's working early on in the season. James Wood, deuces wild two for four, two runs, two RBI, two steals for him. He still is striking out a lot. It's a 33% strikeout rate for him CJ Abrams three for five with his ninth homer five RBI He's got seven steals as well. He's hitting right around 333 RBI If he can somehow avoid that month or two slump that we get every year from CJ Abrams This could truly be a monster season for him They could Yeah, but it's happened every year what happens every year, you know, it's fair to be skeptical now The one thing I will say about the national okay, I will say two things about the nation's first I will say a kind of negative thing about the nation's which is I Don't know how they're scoring so many runs this actually doesn't make any sense They are six the league and runs and they're fourth after today, right? That's what you said yeah, there are six entering today They were 21st in Woeba entering today Those two things have a very very high correlation the very smart people who created Woeba did so with the intention of having an extremely high correlation with runs scored and generally speaking I Would bet on the runs regressing to the Woeba here so I do not think the Washington Nationals are suddenly a dominant lineup There will be as much better against lefties. I think it's like top five. So you know, I'm not saying they are hopeless, but this is not a great lineup I think and I Would say James Wood and especially CJ Abrams are probably playing a bit above their heads relative to what I expect moving forward so I still think the Washington Nationals are not going to be a great lineup, but There is also an element that we haven't talked about a lot, but we probably mentioned at least in the offseason I think it also applies for the Rockies who have been surprisingly not incompetent so far Which is that both of these teams Pretty much revamped their entire coaching staffs and front offices this offseason The Nationals did both the front office and coaching staff, right? Everybody on there in their front office and coaching staff is The same age as me. Yeah, they got rid of everyone and hired young people and look I am not look I'm I'm pretty close to 40 So I am not in any way saying that only young people have value. I hope that's clear, but I Do think the Washington Nationals and Colorado Rockies were especially behind the times when it came to how they were evaluating talent How they were probably preparing for their games how they were scouting all these things and so Even if they don't have amazing front offices and coaching staffs If they just have replacement level like decent coaching staffs and front offices that could really help and maybe there's something there for CJA Abrams because we've always seen These really huge stretches and and we've seen The one I always go back to a CJA Abrams. I think it was last year. Maybe it was the year before I want to say he hit a ball If not into McCovie Cove pretty close And it's like that was one of those ones where it's like I did not know this guy had that kind of juice and It's just been about harnessing it consistently I don't know if I see a ton in the underlying numbers to to back up a big breakout for CJA Abrams like the plate discipline all looks Pretty similar the quality of contact It's better, but We've seen these stretches from him before so again. I expect some slowdown, but It's very impressive and and I'm certainly hoping that CJA Abrams at least avoids the the low low Low lows that he's had in the summers Three years in a row now before this one so I'm optimistic. I'm hopeful hopeful is probably the better word two other names in that lineup that had a big night Brady House two for five with his fifth home run three RBI and Jose Tena who went two for five with his second home run He's actually hitting two ninety seven with an eight thirty two OPS. He just really does not play all that much Very deeply names, but do either of these guys matter Chris Brady House, Jose Tena Kind of interested in Jose Tena Like the the minorly track record is pretty decent 28 homers and 172 career games at AAA There's some speed there. There's decent You know batting average track records at least He's just not playing regularly. That's kind of the issue for both of these guys. I think they're both Moderately interesting ish, but they have to get more playing time. Yeah, Brady House has only started three of the past six games Jose Tena has started three straight, but before that he started just one of their previous eight games So yeah, just not playing enough. He's a left handed bat. So you would think all right Hopefully he could just get some of that against righties. I think an enno only name I you know, I picked him up and it my only and a only team and but if he starts to play more like maybe works his way into 15 team Brodo again that is Jose Tena We did get big bounce backs for the aces here Paul schemes was masterful against the D bags eight shut out innings with seven strikeouts He let five runs over five innings in his previous start Doesn't opening day just seems so far away now at this point for ball schemes And then Brian whoo bounce back with a great start against the braves six shut out innings nine strikeouts 14 whiffs on 98 pitches eight of those on the fastball that fastball was humming and it looked a lot better than it has in Previous starts for him anything to add here Chris keep these guys healthy please Paul schemes Brian will well Yeah, I mean if the the thing that I am always struck by when I watch Paul schemes is How much more What's the right way to put this I'm trying to not say something stupid How much more not better that he could be Because he has a career 201 ERA. I don't actually think Paul schemes can be better than he is He could be more dominant He could miss more bats. I think Paul schemes Could lead the league in strikeouts. It feels like he pitches to contact at times. It's To be efficient. It's like It's kind of wild to say that a guy striking out more than a batter per inning is pitching to contact I think that's just a testament to how good the stuff is that he is one of the rare pitchers who is not going max Exit max velocity all the time and he is not chasing strikeouts at all times He could probably average 99 with his fastball, but he sits more like 97 His movement is so crazy. Although actually it's also one of those things where I was talking to a friend who's a pirate fan on a party the other day Actually, there's crazy parties talking about Paul schemes, and he's got kind of like He's like if you gave Greg Maddox the captain America super soldier serum His command is not Greg Maddox good, but like his pitches don't move as much as you as you think It's just the tunnel really well off each other and his command is phenomenal and he's just doing it at 97 instead of 87 or 90 like Paul Greg Maddox was, but yeah, he's so he's so impressive Obviously we have no idea if he can stay healthy. He's a starting pitcher, but he seems as well suited To stay healthy as any pitcher could be You know, yeah, and then with Brian Wu It's just really good to see this. I know some people were panicking yet to very bad starts in a row But again the fastball bounce back. It was very dominant for him And we need more strikeouts. I think we could say that for like all the Mariners pitchers right now It's been weird weird which weird weird vibes for the Mariners right now. Yeah, Scott and I were talking about George Kirby last night We're trying to feel like I don't really know what to say about George Kirby But somehow he's getting good results. He just keeps kind of tinkering and throwing That's a pitch to contact guy. Yeah, so far so far this it shouldn't be like that But that fastball just not getting as many whips for George Kirby so far this season Before we get to the news and notes just a reminder to sign up for the FBT newsletter If you haven't already if you're watching on YouTube you can scan that QR code that will bring you rights to the website CBS Sports comm slash newsletters where you can sign up for free and you'll get Chris's newsletter delivered right to your inbox Every day and all the work that he's constantly pumping out again You'll get that delivered right to your inbox for free. Let's get into the news and notes and it appears that we finally have Confirmation that Robbie's snowing it will be promoted to start this Friday Six starts a triple A this season a 186 ERA a.90 whip 13.7 K. Pranine the walks definitely too high not really something that's been an issue for him in the past Gets a lot of last year it was before last year, but it's kind of like a big step forward It's kind of been an up and down like minor league career But man when he is on he is really dominant Scott has pointed this out the swinging strike rate is down this year, but it has been Up and like pretty elite at every other step of the minor So I still think the whips are going to be there 51% rostered I think he kind of vaults to the top of the waiver wire pictures just because like we've kind of hit a low in recent weeks Yeah, well we had you know when Peyton toly and and right There are a couple other guys like toly and Kyle Harrison and Dolander, but those guys have pretty much all been picked up. Yeah, I don't think I would drop any of those guys for snowing air getty It wouldn't shock me if Robbie's selling was better than air getty. I mean I wouldn't shock me if he was better than any of them, but right I do think totally is a more talented picture. Harrison is probably pretty close. I do think because Snelling has been on the verge for so long, there does seem to be a sense that this is like an all world prospect. And I think it's more a connolly early type of prospect, a good prospect. Someone I'm much more excited to watch start than Chris Paddock certainly. But I'm not sure he's an ace. I think it's more like a comfortable SP 3 or 4 in real life. But we don't really know until these guys get tested because Parker Messick was not the guy everyone was excited about when he got called up last September. And he's been arguably the best pitcher of the rookies who were called up late last season. Nolan McClean, but Parker Messick second best. I could see Robbie Snelling going on a run like that. I think he's super talented. I think he needs to be rostered in any league. I'm just not expecting ace level production from him. Yeah, he was someone I liked a lot when I dug in in the off season. He gets a lot of ground balls. He typically limits hard contact. He gets whiffs. And when he's right, he doesn't usually has pretty good control and command. Although that hasn't been perfect this season in the minors, I moved them up to SP 68 in the rankings. I'm seeing now Scotch is updated his rankings. He moved them up to SP 65. And so that puts him right in a right ahead of like Logan Henderson, Noah Schultz. Yeah, I would drop Schultz for for Snelling. Who would you rather have Snelling or Logan Henderson? I would hope I don't have to make that choice. I would hope I have a less interesting pitcher. I think Snelling's stuff is better than Henderson's. I think so too. But Henderson is a weird pitcher because he's a righty who throws 93 and basically only throws a change up otherwise and he's been dominant so far. So I can't quite make sense of him, but I really like him. Would you drop of a Chandler to add Robbie Snelly? Again, I would hope I have a pitcher who like that. Did you want? I'm sure you guys talked about it. That was such a weird start. He threw 66% of his pitches for strikes yesterday. And he walked six and five innings. I don't know how that happened. His first inning was brutal and then he basically just, he didn't allow a hit after the first inning. Yeah, it's like his slider can't put guys away. One of the most perplexing stats I've seen this season is Bubba Chandler. When he gets to two strikes has a 40% strike out rate. Big average is like 41%. I don't know how Bubba Chandler could be worse than League average at putting hitters away when he gets to two strikes. With that stuff, right? Yeah, with his, like that should, he should be an outlier there. He should be 55% or something. So it's just, it's weird. I still have a lot of faith in the talent, but I don't think I could bring myself to drop Bubba Chandler for Robbie Snelly, but if I need a pitcher next week, I guess we'll see how Friday goes. But I don't feel good about starting Bubba Chandler right now. Yeah, it's really close in the rankings. I move Bubba Chandler down to SP66 and I have smelling two spots behind him. Scott similar. Bubba Chandler, SP62 and Snelling at SP65. So yeah, really, really close between those two right now. Joe Ryan has been cleared to make his next start Saturday. He left his last start after just nine pitches with elbow soreness. Remember Valdez was suspended six games for intentionally throwing at Trevor's story. He had a reduced to five games. So essentially, he'll get pushed back a day in the rotation. I mean, everybody always says it's, it's, oh, how can you do that? He doesn't even miss a star, but it's like, you know, for ever Valdez, they're making like $40 million this year or something, right? That's going to cost him a lot of money, you know? It's probably like, I don't know if it's a million dollars, but it's going to be, do me a pretty hefty amount of money that he's losing there. Amelia Opegon has been diagnosed with a grade two left hamstring strain and is expected to miss one to two months. As we suspected last night, Tony Santien is the likely candidate to step in as closer, according to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. I think what helps Santien's case is that Graham Ashcraft got the safe opportunity here on Wednesday with a two run lead. He allowed a game tying home run to P. Cora Armstrong and the Reds wound up losing this game in extras. I am assuming that Santien was not available. This would have been his third appearance in four days. So that's why it went to Ashcraft, but he blew it. And I think that is another feather in the cap there for Tony Santien. So if you lost Pagan or just need saves, he looks like the next man up. Jared Jones made a rehab start a triple A on Wednesday three innings one run, two strike outs. He had nine whiffs on 54 pitches. His fast ball velocity was up 1.5 miles per hour up to 98.8 miles per hour. And he is 52% rostered. Definitely a pitcher that you should stash if you have an IEL spot available unlimited IEL spots, whatever it might be. He's someone that has always had upside, but he looks really, really good so far on this real estate. Yeah. He's coming back from internal brace. So that's what Strider had that has had his velocity way down. So, Carl, interesting. Carl's career will have ankle surgery and missed the rest of the season. Shay Wickholm was recalled from triple A and unfortunate news for Karea, but does seem like that's good news just for Eastock parades is playing time rest of season. Carl's rodon appears on track to make his season debut Sunday against the brewers. Garrett Cole expected to make a few more rehab starts before his return. Ben Rice has missed three straight with that left hand contusion. Tom and Anthony has missed two straight with that right wrist sprain. Brandon Woodruff is slated to resume throwing Saturday after undergoing a minor procedure to drain fluid from his inflamed right shoulder in related news. Logan Henderson will make another start this Sunday against the Yankees. Glebert Torres was placed in the IEL with a left oblique strain. Tattooi Emi's next start will be with the Astros. His latest start came Tuesday at triple A three innings one hit one run. Five walks to three strikeouts. Four percent rostered. Very interested to see what he could do in this next hour to Astros, but pretty much anywhere he has pitched this year, miners are majors. He has not been able to throw strikes that has been a major issue. Shane Bieber reportedly looked sharp during a bullpen on Wednesday. Carlos Estevez left his rehab appearance with shoulder discomfort. Luis Arise has missed two straight with a sore thumb. Nathan Church left early after being hit by a pitch on his left leg and Lance McCullers left his start early with a possible blister on his pitching hand. Let's take our final break. When we return, I've got buyer cell. I've got some waiver questions. We'll do that right after this. Let's do a little buy or sell and first up, show Hayotani the hitter. He went two for four with his fifth stone base, but it's been a down season so far. He's only hitting 248 831 OPS, which would be okay for a normal person, but show Hayotani is not a normal person. So buyer cell Otani the hitter will have a down gear by his standards. Yeah, I think so. I'm buying that. I did not have him as the number one player entering this season. He was all the way down to number two. He would still be my number two player if we were redrafting right now. But I think a lot of the people who had him as the number one player did not realize that the stolen bases were so low. As he started pitching last season, I think it was only nine or 12. It was like a nine, nine steals after he started pitching 12 steel pace. And he's just not quite as good a hitter as Aaron judge. I think he's much better than this. I don't think show Hayotani's going to hit 250. He's going to have a run where he hits like 10 home runs in a month. Yeah, his OPS is going to be nine sixty by the all star break. I bet. He has said his goal is to win a OPSIA. And the Dodgers can do things like prioritize show Hayotani's individual goals. And so we're seeing he has already sat out three games this season. He only sat out four all year. All three have been as a hitter when he was pitching. They have had him. I think last season, he only pitched on five days rest twice. And it was early early in the season when he was only throwing one inning at a time. Once he was starting as a regular starter, he was throwing on six or seven days rest every single time. I believe he's throwing on five days rest two or three times already this season. So they are there. There's been that funny thing where every time he pitches, he's the ERA leader. And then the next time he pitches, he no longer qualifies because you have to average one inning per game. And then he's going to be a player of the other team plays. And I think that's going to matter for Saiyong voters, right? Like are they going to vote for a guy who didn't qualify for the ERA leader board as Saiyong? So I think the Dodgers are going to make sure he gets the volume on the pitching side. That's going to require extra days off. So I don't think he's the number one player in fantasy. If you have to choose how you use him. I'm not sure I would move him to three. You know, I still think he's awesome. And you still get to use him as a pitcher if you want. But yeah, I think this is going to be a disappointing season. and for Otani as a hitter, that being said, I still think it's probably 40 homers and 15 steals. Yeah. So when I wrote down by his standards, what came to mind, if you just look at his past couple of years, is like 50 homers, 20 steals. That probably was the expectation coming in. And I would buy that. That is not what I'm expecting at this point. It's probably more like low 40s and home runs and, you know, 15 to 20 steals. And that's still a really good player. You'll get the batting average up to like 272 80 plus where it always is. Again, it's not like a huge deal, but one day off per week, you know, for every start, if he makes 28 starts this season, that's 28. And this hasn't been every start. It doesn't mean that this will be every game because like maybe one stult and rushing slows down like he'll just go back to any, but if they kind of want to just prioritize it. All right, him focusing on pitching. If he just loses out on 25 games as a hitter, that's just that's a huge disadvantage. That's like a, that's like a long I else didn't for somebody else, right? So just little things that add up that will maybe keep Otani a little bit more human, I guess this season. Corey Seeger. He went two for five with his seven home run, but under the hood, Chris lots of strike outs here by or sell Corey Seeger is getting old fast. I don't buy it sell. I sell it. But more I don't buy it. You know, like I know you're asking me buy or sell. And I don't buy it. Buy or don't buy. I'm not sure I sell it though, you know, because there are real signs that he's aging. That speeds down a little bit quality of contact. Worst it's been since 2022 strikeout rate. The highest it's ever been by far 26% highest it's been before that was 21% back in 2017. Yeah, I mean, if Corey Seeger was aging, that's what it would look like. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's been so good for so long, but not fully selling it either. Yeah, we'd like to see for the rest of May, you know, from May 7th on, he has a, let's say 20% strikeout rate for the rest of the month. Something like that. You just want to see kind of increment, incremental progress here for Corey Seeger. Somebody pointed this out to us. His strikeout rate against lefties this year is 33%. That is a massive number. That's worse. Yeah. That is a, that's a big, you know, that's a big number and everything else you mentioned, zone contact, with rates, all the worst of Corey Seeger's career. If we don't see improvement by June or July, I think it's time to start realistically thinking like, all right, this is start of going down the other side of the mountain here for Corey Seeger. Let's talk about Zach Wheeler, who had a quality start up against the athletics six and a third. Three runs allowed four strikeouts to one walk. The velocity was up a little bit and this one is fastballed, got up to 95 miles per hour on average, the sinker, the splitter, the cutter, they were all up over one mile per hour. By our sell, Zach Wheeler is back inside the top 30 starting pictures rest of season. I mean, look, my SP 30 right now, I haven't updated it this week yet, but it's a machine. Yeah, I think I'd take Zach Wheeler over a machine. Now that probably means I have to move out of the machine down also, but then it's like Shotae Minaga, I think I'd take Zach Wheeler ahead of him. Trace Savage, I take Zach Wheeler. He Minaga's been really good. Always been awesome. But you have Nathan of Aldi. He's been so good the last handful of starts, but we kind of know the deal with Nathan of Aldi and there's almost always some time off there. But yeah, I think like with Shane McClanahan, I think we've avoided the worst case scenario outcomes for Zach Wheeler. There's always injury risk. He's not as good as he used to be, but I think he's clearly still pretty good. And that should be worth a top 30-ish ranking. I'm not sure I'll actually get him to 30, but it'll be close. So bye. I moved him up to SP 31 earlier today and some names I have just ahead of him, Parker Messick, who's been great this year. Yeah. But then Sandy Aakansara, Yuri Perez, Kyle Bradish. That trio is very questionable and some people listening might have just shut off the podcast like, oh my gosh, how am I listening to this? If you wanted to take Zach Wheeler ahead of those guys, I wouldn't blame you at all. I don't know if that's how I'll rank it, but I would argue with you. I see a clear argument for him being ahead of those guys. I guess I'm just like playing it a little bit slower with lowering those guys down, but yeah, Wheeler is right in that mix. So I'm buying as well as a top 30 starting pitcher for Zach Wheeler. And Nathan of Aldi clearly likes facing the Yankees eight innings one run, eight strike outs. His last two starts have both been against the Yankees 15 innings one run 15 strike outs to one walk. He has gotten things back on track by or sell Nathan of Aldi is back. That's it. He's back. Yeah. Bye. Bye. Full buy. The problem is that usually means there will be an I else stint or a stint where he's not very good at some point. That's usually how it works. It's been the problem so far this year is like when of all the pitches, he's usually really good. But to start the year who's really bad while he was healthy. Yeah, but it's really it's three bad starts. But they're really bad starts. Yeah, it was five, six and six runs in his first looks like seven starts, six starts. And then other than that, he's been very good. The strike outs have been inconsistent, but for the most part, it looks like it's seven strike outs in five of eight starts. Yeah, I'm Nathan of Aldi's going to be a must start pitcher moving forward. Yuri Perez, another clunker to this one against the Orioles, five innings, five runs, five walks, six strike outs through just 59% of his pitches for strikes. This is his second start with five plus walks the season. His location plus entering the start was 92. That was tied for second lowest among qualified starting pitchers. Might actually go down after this start. So I've got a few, I don't know what to do with Yuri Perez. So like, buy or sell Yuri Perez is droppable. No. Buy or sell he is benchable. Buy. Should you actually try and buy low on him right now? Yes. Buy. Okay. Yeah. Talk to me. The stuff is phenomenal. The stuff is so good and the command is really bad right now and it's not an easy fix because there are times when the fastball command is really good and you know, he had a start a couple of starts to go. He was really good and he threw the fastball like 65% of the time or something and that worked for him. And then today he was pretty consistently missing with the fastball and the changeup was all over the place and you know, there was a point in the start where the Marlon's broadcasters, you know, he got a really bad first inning settled into a really nice groove after that. Next four innings were great. And then he gets to the sixth and I think he walks someone gets to a full counting. It's Adley Rushman leaves a fastball up. Adley Rushman ropes it for a double and I think that was when he got pulled. The stuff is really good though. It's legitimately great and it's just. I thought the command was bad last year because he was coming back from Tommy John's surgery and I think it's arguably been worse this season. So I don't think you can start him right now or at least you can't do it with confidence. I don't know what the next matchup is but I do think in the long run, Yuri Perez is going to figure it out and I want to be there when he does because I think it's going to be very good. It's just how much can you rely on him right now? I don't know. How about this? It works out this way. Yuri Perez two starts next week at the twins and at the raise. It was a good matchups. I know he has been better at home than on the road. I know there's been a little bit of you know, talk about that throughout the industry but he was bad today at home. So I don't think it's that simple. I think it's just, you know, maybe we're at the Gavin Williams portion of Yuri Perez's career where it doesn't really matter who he's facing. It matters how he's pitching that day and right now he's not pitching well. So I would lean sit in a right road O league and start in a points league but I agree. I can't say either with any amount of confidence right now. Whenever you're thinking about dropping somebody and we've said this before, I'm not breaking any news here. If you think someone else in your league will immediately pick that player up, you should probably not drop that player. Absolutely. If I saw Yuri Perez available in any of my leagues, like I would rush, I would throw a ton of fab on him just purely based on the upside. It's like we have bench spots for a reason. You should bench Yuri Perez. You should not drop your address. It's a long season and you do not want to get to August and Yuri Perez has figured it out and is ripping off 10 starts in a row with a 30% strike I rate in a 2 ERA which he's absolutely capable of and he probably had a stretch like that as a rookie. You don't want that going against you in the playoffs or whatever. So I wouldn't drop him. The last two names I have here are just by low questions. Would you try to buy low on these two injury slow starts? Brent Rooker who in 20 games has hit 160 with three home runs and a 528. OPS Kyle Stowers in 15 games has hit 224 with one Homer and a 594 OPS and I think anyone hearing those numbers would say oh very clearly like yeah like these guys were you know top 120 picks and Rooker was like a top 50 pick in some drafts and yeah it's an easy by-law on both of these guys but I just kind of worry especially for Rooker with the oblique thing like yeah that can just wreck someone's season completely and we could find out after the year like man I was just never right and you buy low on him and it just like it just turns out this year he hits 220 with like 20 homers and just he just never got back on track not saying it's gonna happen but I I think it's within the range of outcomes here well and the elephant standing on a baseball that is a globe in the room I think that's the athletics alternate no go I had to research that I don't really know like it's definitely an elephant standing on a baseball I'm not sure if it's also a globe but the elephant standing on a baseball in the room is Rooker's 31 and so you know you don't necessarily think that a 31 year old will fall apart immediately again non-agest but it happens sometimes you know this is the kind of player who can tend to have the early fall off you know late breakout you know kind of what Bill James used to refer to as old player skills not a great athlete walks a lot a lot of strikeouts those kind of guys can fall apart relatively quickly so I would buy low on Brent Rooker if I had the opportunity but I wish I could say I was a little more confident it's hours kind of the same thing as awesome as he was last year it was three quarters of a great season and that was what was so frustrating about that oblique injury in the second half was it robbed us of seeing him run through the finish line it's not to say he would or wouldn't have but it's always better when you see the guy finish the season as strong as they started in we didn't get that chance. Stowers are much more inclined to just chalk up to you know it's been what 12 games 15 games more inclined to just chalk that up to a slow slow start small sample size but this is spring training basically yeah but we don't have a big sample size for for cost hours I think both are very very low by loads like if you can get them for very cheap I would try to do that and it's weird to say because I have more I had more confidence in in the player Rooker coming in but I have more confidence now that Stowers will get back on track just based on he dealt with the hamstring like I don't think that's something that should affect him. The oblique thing actually kind of worries me that's absolutely so yeah I would heard about the whole worries wrecking seasons all the time. Yep. All right we got to go rapid fire through the rest of these let's get into some waiver wire hitters Marcus semi and big game in courts field 4 for 5 with his second home run 67% rostered if you saw someone drop him in a shallow league would you be looking to jump on Marcus Semian. I dropped Marcus him in a point league last week so probably not yeah I look I'm open to the possibility but yeah he's not a top 12 second baseman right now. Three outfielders Adolis Garcia 2 for 4 with his 4th home run last 15 games he has hit a little bit better 298 with two home runs during that stretch Brandon Marsh continues to hit well he went 3 for 4 with a triple a run RBI and he got the start against the lefty in this one and Carson Benj last 12 games for him hitting 316 two home runs OPS over 900 hitting the ball really hard during that stretch. Chris you have any interest in these three Adolis Garcia brand of March Carson Benj Benj yeah I think this is a super talented young player who has really really impressive skills we've seen him hitting the ball hard both at triple a and in the majors we've seen you know pop and speed I think he's starting to figure out and I think he's you know not necessarily every league because 12 team points leagues and short shallower it's hard to make that work I don't think is a top 36 outfielder but I would roster Carson Benj and he wrote Olee yeah and then Mars I just I like what he's doing the strikeout rate is down the expected stats look really good and he's playing against more lefties this year I kind of like like I don't buy a 336 bad coverage yeah like that well that's the thing though is like okay he's not a 336 hitter I don't really think he's a 280 hitter is he a 265 270 hitter if he keeps the strikeout right down he's always hit the ball hard and he's always running like high babbots like he might be a 280 hitter I I don't know I just don't think he does enough I I think he's a fine hot hand play I think he's a great streamer when there's a lot of varieties on the schedule I have a hard time seeing Brandon marshes anything more than that I think I'll I think all three of these guys are for five outfield or leagues but Benj is one to watch because he's starting heat up a little bit and he could very quickly work his way into shallower three outfield or league formats as well TJ Rumpfield looks like he's getting back on track last 15 games hitting 300 with three homers 10 RBI and welcome back to Andrew Vaughn two for four with a three run homer he performed very well with the Brewers last season Chris who do you like more as a corner in field type TJ Rumpfield or Angel Vaughn Oh Angel Vaughn quite a bit I don't think Rumpfield is totally uninteresting but Vaughn was awesome last season and I know the narrative was that it was just one good month and then he fell apart it's kind of backwards it was one amazing month when he joined the Brewers one terrible month in August yet like a 940 OPS in September yep and the underlying numbers were great I I think Andrew Vaughn should be much more roster than 35% I think outside of points leagues I would I would say Andrew Vaughn should be rostered let's talk waiver wire pictures here and Jeffrey Springs finished two out short of a quality start five and a third two runs four strikeouts Jack Flarrity racked up the wifes here against the red socks five innings four runs only to earn with 10 strikeouts here I'm sure you're the next question was one of the matchups for next week Chris and Jeffrey Springs gets the Giants and Cardinals actually pretty good and Jack Flarrity gets the blue jays and at the Metts can interest you in either Scott White if you're watching I doubt he is I don't think Scott watches when I'll tune in occasionally when I'm not on I don't think Scott I would bet the mortgage but you can go ahead and write Jeffrey Springs up as a sleeper pitcher for week week eight I'll give you that one for free I think that's a good stream versus San Francisco versus St. Louis might not get a ton of strikeouts but I think you should get good results from him some deep league names Matt Waldron pitch well in bulk relief five innings one runs seven strikeouts for him Adrian Hauser a quality start on the other side of that game six innings two runs one earned with three strikeouts and Walbert Arania who pitches for the angels he turned in a quality start against the White socks six innings one run five strikeouts 13 whiffs on 90 pitches very deep league names do any peak your interest here not really I could be interested in Adrian Hauser in the right circumstances and like at home versus the Padres is probably about as close to the right circumstances you get at the athletics and at the Dodgers next week is very much not the right circumstances forehand I think the only thing worse than that would be like at course field and at the Dodgers yeah I think at course at the Dodgers but at at athletics at Dodgers probably a close second so I would be avoiding that one Arania is kind of interesting like the stuff is pretty good he struck out Moodetaka Maracame three times today more economy golden some braille by the way yeah the change up is really good I just don't think the rest of it's good enough so I I lean towards Arania not really being much more than just a two-starth streamer even and that's probably the best of this group you know if I play in a 15 team brodo league and just got a bench spot to mess with like Arania I could see just taking a flyer and see where it goes like 104 stuff plus so far this season but the walks have just been untenable so if you ever get those walks down like yeah gets a lot of movement on his pitches like let's see their son Jose Soriano there when I watch him yeah he's got multiple fastballs he's got really good change up the way that um Soriano has the splitter but yeah Soriano has that wipeout curveball I just I don't know that Arania has a a breaking pitch like that and then belly over if you picked about I yeah the belly over thing ended so I you probably drop Billy over until you know his next three good starts in a row and then we talk about some hitting leftovers here although no I had something else I wanted to do oh what happened here two pictures that got rocked we'll Warren he got hit hard by the Rangers four innings six runs two homers loud in this one still had seven strikeouts 12 whiffs on 90 pitches and no a shoulder just an awful outing at the angels three and two thirds seven hits seven runs more walks than strikeouts in this one the craziest part is that he actually got whiffs in this one like got whiffs on his sweepers so I I don't know glass half full I thought that was like kind of good but the old overall line was terrible. So any actual concern here with Will Warren and Noah Schultz getting lit up. Warren was pitching over his head. I think that kind of goes without saying. So yeah, Will Warren's not one of the 20 best pitchers in baseball. I think he's still pretty good though. Schultz. Okay. What actually happened here, I think it was the second inning. Oh gosh, he gave up a triple to Zach Netto. And I think there were two outs. Then he gets a pop up to Mike Trout. And that should have been the inning. Second baseman just lost it in the sun. Just completely lost it. I want to say there was another bad defensive play. None of them were errors. So it wasn't on run charge to him. But he wasn't quite as bad as seven earned runs and three and two thirds innings. He wasn't good. And I want to stress that because I saw some people like, you know, arguing with me about, oh, it was the defense. It's like, well, no, four walks, three strikeouts. He had four badded balls over a hundred miles per hour. Three of them were outs. I don't think you can just chalk this one up to the defense. Like, yeah, it should have been, I don't know, four on runs instead of seven, but he's still in pitch well. And I think Noah Schultz is still more theoretically interesting than actually good right now. There's a lot to like, but he's just before this start, especially, there have not been any whiffs for Noah Schultz. So I, I think he's just, just a stash right now. Maybe he figures it out, but I think he's someone you could pretty easily drop. All right. Let's talk some leftovers here on the hitting side. Nick Kurtz, two for four with a walk in RBI and his fourth stolen basing. All right. That's kind of weird. I don't know is he kind of doing a Josh Nailer thing? Not that I think he's going to steal 30, but I don't know. Could we get like 10 steals out of Nick Kurtz this year? That would, that would help. Aaron Judge, another one, one for four with his 15th home run. He has three homers in his past four games. He has six homers in his past 10. Ian Hatt is off to when I start three for five with his ninth home run, two runs and two RBI for him. Pete Crow Armstrong hit a game tying home run in the ninth inning last 14 games for him. 286 three homers, three steals OPS over 850 during that time. Peter Lonzo slowly coming around. He hit a homer and over his last 15. He's hit 250 with five homeruns. Adley Rutchman just continues to to rake two for three with a walk in two RBI. He's hitting 313 with a 931 OPS. So great stuff there for Adley. And Juan Soto. He has been mashing since his return. One for four with his fourth home run, two RBI out there in Corris field. Anything here that you want to touch on? Real quick. So Nick Kurtz. I've noticed this. And I might have mentioned it on last week's podcast, but it's basically he went from overperforming expected Woba by one of the biggest marks in baseball last year to now underperforming by 20 points. So I think he's still very good. I think he will be better moving forward than he has been. I do think it's funny that you mentioned the four steals and the Josh Nailer of it all because I don't know if you've noticed, but Josh Nailer's back on his BS. Yeah, he stole another one today. He has to sell the Nailer. He had no steals in the first 21 games of the season. He has seven in his last 14. I don't know. Like I it. Like he doesn't even generate throws. Like I don't like he somehow has this like preter natural ability to know when the pitcher is about to throw slop in the dirt. And just picks the it's like the the stolen base he had in the ninth inning of a one run game yesterday on Tuesday night. Rice Ella Glacier's pitching. He barely had a lead. He was like six feet off the bag. And he ran before Glacier's even made his move, stole the base without a third. I don't understand it. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen in baseball. And I've watched a lot of like literally thousands of baseball games in my life. I don't know if I've ever seen anything this weird. Maybe what Il Demar of Argus is doing is up there. But it's so funny. What Josh Nailer's doing and I just love it. It is incredible. Some pitching left over sunny Gray solid in his return at the Tigers five shut out innings two walks to strikeouts. The whiffs are not there. They continue to not be there for sunny Gray. But he's getting a lot of ground balls. So that's good. Michael Soroco bounce back against the pirates six and a third one run six strikeouts. He had 15 whiffs on 93 pitches. That slurve was money. So nice bounce back for him. Joey Cantillo a weird start five innings one run three walks to one strikeout. His changeup was very good. Didn't really have much else. And Freddie Peralta also a weird start in course field where it was 41 degrees five shut out innings two walks to one strikeout. Like couldn't generate whiffs. His velocity was down at the house. It was four degrees. So they had the snow plow on the field this morning in course field. It's crazy. Denver's a weird place. Yeah, I I don't have a lot of faith in any of these four pitchers. I think sunny grass is so high. I think we're seeing very little from him right now. So I'm not excited about about sunny Gray moving forward. The call to the bullpen for the raise Brian Baker came on in the eighth inning with a two run lead facing at nine one and two in the blue jays lineup clean inning for the hold. Ian Seymour got the ninth and he picked up his first save. Just a reminder that the raise can still be the raise at times. Brian Baker will be used wherever they deem is the biggest spot I suppose for the Giants Ryan Walker was used in the eighth inning down three to one trying to get him back on track. He allowed two runs on two hits and two walks. He's up to a 552 ERA 170 whip. I don't think he'll be getting a save anytime soon. You could drop Ryan Walker. If you have him take a shot on Caleb Killian who got their last save or maybe Keaton win who's very well so far this season for the Mariners. Andres Munoz was unavailable. You know what that means? Jose Ferrer picked up his second save of the season. Been waiting to do that all year for the Phillies after throwing 27 pitches last night. Noan to Ron was unavailable Brad Keller picked up his third save for the guardians Kate Smith a lot of hit buddy struck out three for his ninth save for the pirates Gregory Soto got the ninth with a one run lead. He walked one but picked up his second save. I still think it's Dennis Santana but he has allowed six earned runs over his last three outings combined. It's a 402 ERA 128 whip. I didn't really think Dennis Santana was that good of a pitcher coming in. I just thought, Oh, he's the closer. So you know, that's that's why that's why we draft him. But I don't know. I could see them kind of mixing matching more moving forward. So that great. Yeah. That's always the the biggest trap at closer is the guy you don't think is actually very good. But who is the closer? In part because sometimes we fade that guy and they go often do what Emilio Pagan and Carlos S. Tves did last year. But then sometimes they do what Carlos S. Tves and Emilio Pagan have done this year before their injuries. So it's um that's a land mine. It's a big part of why I hate having to analyze closer is because it's small sample says all around and judging managerial intent. It's impossible. Before the meds, Devon Williams entered with one out in the ninth inning bases loaded five run lead. He got the final two outs for his fifth save of the year to stream or not to stream on Thursday. We have retlowder at the Cubs Christian Scott at the Rockies. Zach Galen home against the pirates. JT Ginn at the Phillies Andrew painter against the athletics Kate Povitch at the Marlins Max Meyer against the Orioles Jake Bennett home against the raise and Matthew Libertore at the Padres. Even if Max Meyer doesn't have a good start here, which I don't see any reason he wouldn't, but I think he should be out of the streaming conversation. I think he's shown enough this season with the growth of that sweeper or the way he's throwing the slider. I think Max Meyer deserves better than to be in the streaming conversation. I think Andrew painter is a fine streamer. I think Kate Povitch. I don't think he's great, but I think the Marlins lineup is pretty bad. Maybe Zach Galen, but I really don't like it. Yeah. Yeah. I would go Meyer painter and oh man. Christian Scott maybe, but I call her Otto no way. Yeah. Yeah. I think he's moderately interesting, but not a course field. Maybe Matthew Libertore at San Diego, but I don't. Max Meyer. That's the one. And I guess Andrew painter on Friday. We have Mike burrows at the Reds, Foster Griffin at the Marlins, Robbie snowing in his debut against the Nationals, Connor Prelipp at the Guardians, Sean Burke against the Mariners, Michael McGreevy at the Padres, Griffin Canning home against the Cardinals and Carmen Majinsky at the Giants. What's the John Boyce tweet about watching playoff hockey in overtime, like riding a flaming helicopter out of a flaming flaming motorcycle out of a helicopter or something like that? Let's do it. Robbie snowing in his debut against the fourth or fifth best team against lefties in baseball. Let's do it. Yeah. You only live once. Whatever the, what are the guys with the paint say in Mac, Mad Max, whatever, whatever those guys say. We're doing it. After that, I love that movie, by the way. Incredible movie. One of the, oh, it's so good. Griffin Canning was interesting looking in his first start, not, you know, just as a player. And Mike Burrows at Cincinnati, I think it's super risky on that one. Yeah. Actually, I would go kind of pre-lip ahead of those guys. I think kind of pre-lip second. I like Sean Burke against the Mariners. So I would probably do a smelling thing too, but it is risky. Oh, yeah, super risky. I think there are a lot of interesting ones on Friday, actually. Sean Burke, I kind of like foster Griffin at the Marlins. He's, I don't think he's like great. I don't think he's keeping runs off the board. I think kind of pre-lip is kind of interesting. I think Carmen Madinsky at the Giants could be okay. Yeah. He's gotten some big with starts here. So if I had to just choose three, I would go smelling Burke and even Griffin Canning's kind of good. Let's say foster Griffin would be the third one on the list, but yeah. I think Friday is an okay streaming day. I think you can go with some of those other names as well. We are going to wrap there for Chris. I am Frank. Thanks as always for tuning in to the Marlins fantasy baseball today. Please make sure to follow and leave a five star rate on Athler Spotify. And we will be back again tomorrow. Bye bye.

Summary:

336 average and 8 homers, backed by harder contact, suggesting a sustainable breakout.

The Nationals’ 15-run outburst is impressive, but their poor wOBA ranking indicates regression ahead, with CJ Abrams and James Wood benefiting from potential overperformance. Overall, the episode emphasizes the volatility of pitching and the need for strategic roster management.
