Build Confidence Postpartum Meditation ft. Josefina Eliggi

This guided meditation, led by certified pre- and postnatal yoga expert Josephina Leakey, is specifically designed to support new mothers in building confidence and self-trust during the postpartum period. The practice begins with deep breathing and a progressive body scan, releasing tension from the feet to the face, helping mothers reconnect with their physical and emotional bodies. It encourages mindfulness by inviting mothers to visualize themselves with their babies and reflect on moments when they overcame challenges through practice and time. The meditation emphasizes that uncertainty is normal and that mothers are capable of learning and adapting without needing to have everything figured out. Affirmations such as “I trust myself more each day” are repeated to reinforce self-assurance and resilience. The session also promotes emotional acceptance, allowing space for difficult feelings. It can be practiced comfortably with or without the baby nearby. Complementing the meditation is the free Blooming Beyond Birth Summit, hosted from May 4–7, featuring expert guests and valuable resources for postpartum wellness. The message is clear: becoming a mother is a gradual, personal journey of growth, and every day offers new opportunities to learn, adapt, and grow stronger.

I have trained with her and this summit is the thing that I wish I would have had going into both of my postpartums to be completely honest and it is from May 4th to May 7th. I am lucky enough to be able to be presenting there but there are so many incredible guests in this four-day virtual event so I'm going to put the information in the show notes if you or someone else you know may like this it's completely free and you need to go get your ticket so without further ado here is Josephina and I will also be linking her personal information in the show notes. This guided meditation is designed to build confidence and self-drust in the postpartum period. Becoming a mom especially for the first time is a wonderful experience but can also be very trying. Everything is new unknown and at times challenging. You may wonder if you're doing things correctly or feel anxious about caring for your baby. This meditation will help you ground yourself, connect with your body and tap into your intuition and inner wisdom. You can practice with your baby next to you or place your baby in a safe spot close by. Come into a position where you can remain comfortable for the next few minutes. You may choose to seat or rest in a supported reclined position. You can also lie on your back on the floor. Although this may not be the best choice if you tend to fall asleep. Cover yourself with a blanket if you tend to get cold. Make sure your spine is long and that you can breathe fully without any restriction. You may close your eyes if that feels comfortable or simply soften your gaze. Begin by taking a few deep breaths. As you inhale imagine expanding through your sides and back rather than creating pressure in your belly or pelvic floor. As you exhale let all the air release allowing the ribs to move in and down. Repeat these two more times. I return to your natural breathing rhythm. Notice the sensation of the breath coming in and going out of your body. With each exhale allow your body to become heavier and heavier. Imagine sinking deeper into the surface that is supporting you. Bring your awareness to your feet. Notice any tension or clenching there. With your next exhale let go and relax them. Notice the weight of your legs. With the next exhale allow the muscles of your legs to relax completely. Move your awareness up to your pelvis. With your next exhale relax the muscles surrounding your pelvic bowl. Notice if you're holding tension in your pelvic floor and gently release those muscles with the exhale. Release the muscles of your back, your lower middle and upper back. With your next exhale relax your shoulders letting them melt away from your ears. Release any tension in your neck and scalp. Soften the muscles of your face, relax your jaw and mouth. Release the weight of your arms, hands and fingers into the floor. Allow your chest and belly to rest. Soften and move naturally with the breath. Your body is now fully relaxed. In your mind's eye, picture yourself with your baby. Connect with the love you feel for your child. Now think of something you once found difficult to do for the first time but that has now become second nature. It was likely scary the first, second and even third time but over time you became more confident. Confidence comes from practice. You don't need to know everything right now. However, your birth unfolded, you gave birth to your baby. You can do hard things. You can learn what you don't yet know. You can ask questions. You can accept help. Uncertainty and doubt will slowly fade as you get to know your baby. Trust the process of becoming a mother without a manual. Every day is a new opportunity to learn. You are becoming your baby's expert. You are strong. You are capable. You are made for this role even if it doesn't always feel that way. With each new day you gain more confidence as a mother. You are becoming more self-assured with every challenge you face. You can allow space for all your feelings, even the difficult ones. That's absolutely okay. Now is not always. You are growing through this experience moment by moment. Now silently repeat the following phrases three times. I trust myself more each day. I have what it takes to take care for my baby. I don't have to have it all figured out right now. Let this phrase is sinking. (soft music) (soft music) Begin to bring your awareness back to the present moment. Notice how your body feels. Gently wiggle your fingers and toes, move your hands and feet, stretch your arms and legs. Slowly move your head from side to side. If your eyes are closed, gently open them. If you're lying on your back, roll onto your preferred side and use your arms for support as you come up to a seated position. Thank you so much for being here. And remember, you can do this.
