BREAKING: Trump Ousts Kimberly Guilfoyle As Ambassador To Greece

The transcript critiques the Trump administration’s ongoing pattern of political hypocrisy, gendered double standards, and institutional decay. Kimberly Gilfoil’s firing over alleged bribery is framed as part of a broader pattern where women face harsher scrutiny than men for similar misconduct, with Trump downplaying her role while praising figures like Galaine Maxwell. The chaotic and incompetent press briefing by new press secretary Katie Zakaria—where she mistakenly called Trump her husband—exposes systemic dysfunction and a failure of leadership. The administration’s selective enforcement of free speech, such as targeting broadcast networks while ignoring its own violations, underscores a troubling lack of integrity. Additionally, the violent suppression of dissent at a rally in Ohio reveals the presidency being weaponized to silence opposition. These actions, combined with widespread allegations of domestic abuse tied to Trump associates and rising public discontent, signal a growing crisis of legitimacy. The narrative suggests that the administration’s internal chaos and failure to govern competently reflect a broader erosion of democratic norms, with the upcoming midterms likely to see significant backlash due to this instability. The analysis concludes that while some may see firings as a sign of accountability, the underlying issues—misogyny, lack of oversight, and abuse of power—are more damaging to American democratic institutions than any single incident.

Okay, welcome back to Runaway Country. What is the Greek word for fired? If you're wondering, it's a Pauli Menos. A word that killed Berli Gilfoil is no doubt learning, alongside the Greek word for bribery, which is Dorodokia. On her first day at the lectern, Katie Zakaria, who is, of course, Trump's new press secretary announced that Kimberly Gilfoil is being asked to resign as ambassador to Greece because of the aforementioned Dorodokia. Zakaria, the press secretary, then accidentally called Donald Trump her husband and fled the podium after setting a land speed record for the shortest briefing ever clocking in at around 14 minutes. Yes, folks, everything in Trump land is going just fine. Joining me to talk about all of this is the great Molly Jong fast host of fast politics, the indispensable podcast, frequent guest on MSNBC and my friend and colleague in the internet. It's great to see Molly. Nice to see you. Okay, I just, I mean, I learned some Greek today, which is more than I think that Kimberly Gilfoil can say about her tenure as ambassador to Greece. For people who are not up to speed on this, just stunning bit of Trump world corruption, allegations against Gilfoil include reporting that she requested $100,000 from a Republican donor named Eric Dieters to pay off her an American express card in exchange for access to top Trump officials. Gilfoil's lawyer has disputed the authenticity of the text messages that were exchanged between Dieter and Gilfoil. But here's Donald Trump just a few moments ago weighing in on this brutal press briefing room firing. You learn Gilfoil, she was almost a member of your family. How surprised were you to learn about these allegations? She wasn't a member of my family. She, I guess, dated my son a long time ago because she wasn't now. She, she went to Greece, she was doing a good job, but we didn't like what we were reading. Molly, when the hammer falls, it falls swiftly, especially if you're a woman whose name ends in a vowel. Christie, Kimberly Tulsi. Yeah, Tulsi, and also, I mean, I guess her name doesn't end in a vowel. But, oh, wait, Kimberly, you said, Kim, well, Bondy. Yeah, Pamela, actually heard, Bondy. Yeah, it does. It's, it's, yeah, it's not for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee if you're a lady in Trump world. I think it tolls for, yes, ladies in Trump world cannot get away with the same kind of Loki crime that men in Trump world can. And it's amazing. I actually was thinking about what Donald Trump said about Galaine Maxwell. I would like to read it to you. I wish her well, frankly. I wish her well. Let's see what happens. I haven't been following you too much. That is a convicted sex trafficker of Galaine Maxwell. So like, he's wishing her better well than the woman who was slated to be his daughter in law, who he's like, Kimberly, who? Kimberly, what did you say your last time ago? A long time ago. A long time ago. I seem to remember it. It was like season one of this fiasco. So it was not a long time ago. In fact, yeah. So look, I mean, the idea that women are disposable in Trump world does not seem to be, it's not a new thought, but it's certainly very clear at this moment that we've seen a bunch of women just fall for things that we've seen men in Trump world do too. The thing I think that was particularly damaging for Gulf oil was that Eric Dieter's went on MS and CNN and all sorts of other now, you know, and was on the bulwark and was talking about the corruption. So it was even if a Gulf oil may have disputed the text messages, you did have a he said she said thing and you're never a woman is never going to win that in Trump world. Well, with women in Trump land, the wrongdoing is villainy and with men, it's just hustle. And like I say that like he's pretending he doesn't know who Kimberly, Gulf oil, his almost daughter in law is the day after he goes up on a podium at the podium in Youngstown, Ohio, and defends Max Miller, who has just a swirl of allegations of violence. And by the way, you know, Max Miller, it's not just one woman who alleges domestic violence. His Trump's Stephanie Grisham also went out with him and also alleged domestic violence. So you have you have her, you have Max Miller's ex-wife, and then you also have Max Miller's ex-father-in-law, who happens to be the Senator from Ohio, Bernie Moreno, also with these allegations. So it's not as if there aren't a number of people who are claiming this. The double standard should not shock us at this point, but it's still worth mentioning. And then some part of me is also like, well, I guess we shouldn't decry the firing of someone who is so obviously a grifter, right? Like the cheapest lowest form of grifting in Trump world is like text message, "Amax bribery," as opposed to using the federal government as your piggy bank the way the Trump Sons are doing it. But like, should we not applaud this capitulation to reality, if not actual ethics and morals on the part of the Trump administration? I actually think that when they start firing people, it's usually a good sign for us on the side of American democracy because it shows they can't keep the wheels on. And I think that's important. Remember, in Trump's first administration, we saw a lot more of this, but in the first year of Trump's second administration, it was like a locked box. Nothing came in, nothing came out. Nobody got fired. Remember, Mike Wallace was on this signal chat that he added the editor in chief of the Atlantic to pretty big mistake. He was just moved to a different job seamlessly, quietly. It was just locked down. What we're seeing here is that the coming up to the midterms, everything they're doing is unpopular, and the wheels are kind of coming off. People are like, "Oh, there's going to be hearings. Oh, there's going to. " Because remember, this Kimberly Gofoil story came out because someone was doing the leaking. And that is when we start to see leaking like that, and we're going to see more of it, because now we have a Gofoil who's really going to be mad, right? Well, right. That is one of the reasons why I thought she had more of a life insurance policy in the Trump bank, because she knows where the bodies are buried to mix a bunch of metaphors together. And I think that's fair. And also, we know that Gofoil was a famous leaker in Trump 1.0, and constantly getting stories out there. Speaking of ladies in Trump land, there is Katie Zakaria, who made the announcement, of course, about Kimberly Gofoil on her first date. Ask her to resign. Yes, we've asked her to resign. What a way to start. She made her debut today in the briefing room, and lasted, as I said, at the beginning of this, about 14 minutes. And maybe, after comments like this, we can understand why. Here's Katie Zakaria, the new White House press secretary. How are you going to manage that? Caroline Levitt left, because she wanted to spend more time with her family. And also, did she give you any advice on how to handle this job? And the people in this room. I love being with my kids. The idea of not spending evenings with my kid is kids are is completely unacceptable. So my president, excuse me, my husband. That's a good one. My husband is out here. He's out here for the week. My president, my husband, my sister, my mother. Is it just me or has the White House become a bunch of sister wives under the watchful eye of Suzy Wiles? So you're saying sister wives, because of the fact that everyone looks completely like that. Well, you got Natalie Harp, right? Is believes that the president is her savior, the human and the flesh printer. He cured her of phone cancer. Yes, because we're the God allegedly who thinks he is literally the second coming of Jesus Christ. And then now you have this new press secretary, also a young attractive blonde, who believes that he is her husband, her president, her, her patriarch. I mean, but it is, it speaks to the mindset inside this White House. No? Yes. Well, look, it's the unitary executive theory, right? Donald Trump is the president and he's the king. And everything is about him and the DOJ works for him. It's headed by his personal lawyer, right? Not finally. He said, actually, who actually slipped up and said, I'm Donald Trump's lawyer. This is exactly what we're looking at here. The thing I would add, the thing that I think when we talk about things coming unraveled, isn't she went up there was 14 minutes. And within 14 minutes of her 14 minutes, we had about 100 anonymous people saying she didn't do that well. She's going to be a scary moochie. If she can't get it together, she's going to be out like that reminds me of trouble point out. Yeah. So, right, you know, don't call me a source of background says like she's totally screwed. So like, this is, I don't know how long she lasts, but I think the knobs are out for her. So interesting that you're comparing it to Trump 1.0 because that was just the revolving door. And now it's like the same amount of infighting, backstabbing, and speculation about looming, you know, firings, but with way, even less talented people in the mix. Well, because he can't look at anyone who is there for anything but sick of fancy. And in fact, remember when she, when he's quoted about about He says, what does he say? He says he's defended me really well, something that effect. Like, when he said he was hiring her. He was hiring her because she defended him. Playbook had a thing this morning about how maybe she was trying to be on television when he was watching it in order to get his attention. So, like, this is not rocket science. Like, you know how to sort of manipulate, get into Trump world. So, he'll get interested in you and then you can get in there. And that's, well, we saw Natalie Harb, right? That she had tried to get into Trump world. She got platformed. And then all of a sudden, she's the conduit between foreign leaders and the president of the United States. Right. And she can, you work a printer, which is not so easy. She's got talents. I will say Katie Zachariah, I think if you let last more than two minutes in this job, you're probably going to miss bedtime with your children. Yeah, I was going to say. Just a thought based on the chaos that is sewn by your husband/president. It's also, like, it's famously a terrible job for spending time with your children. For spending time with anybody other than Donald Trump. Yeah. Or the president. And we are like the beginning of like a, well, we're in, I don't know, what are we at, like, alarm bell to and a foreign alarm fire? It's just going to get worse than that White House, the longer things go on. Exactly. Pots of America breaking news is brought to you by Zippercruder. Let's be honest, Zippercruder is everywhere. Why? Because top talent is everywhere too. Just like you, your ideal candidates are tuning into business sports and podcasts, just like this one. When these candidates hear all these ads, it increases the chances of them going to Zippercruder and responding to your job posts. So ultimately, you meet them sooner. Of course, you can't meet them unless you go to zippercruder.com/cricod to try it for free. Once you post your job, Zippercruder's matching technology finds top talent quickly. And Zippercruder has a new feature that shows you the most interested, qualified candidates first, so you meet them faster. No wonder four out of five employers who post on Zippercruder get a quality candidate within the first day. But you've got to go to zippercruder.com/cricod to post your job for free. Again, that zippercruder.com/cricod. Oh, and if you forget where to go, don't worry. You'll hear another Zippercruder ad soon enough. I want to talk about another announcement that was made at Zacharias brief first briefing, which was, there is a new media seat that the White House is establishing that Brightbart will occupy, because this administration is so much a fan and just so much holds the first amendment in such high regard. Oh, yeah. They are platforming Brightbart at the same time that the Trump administration is weaponizing the Department of Justice to go after all five major broadcast networks, NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, and CNN, over antitrust violations, which is just Trump world's big for mean coverage. Yeah. What gives here, Molly? They're very interested in antitrust stuff, except when it comes to skydans, which is about a billion dollar mergers. Yeah. No, I mean, look, this is the whole thing here, right? They use zombie laws to go after abortion, right? Like the Comstock Act. They use the different, you know, things that haven't been used for hundreds of years. They enforce it, but they only enforce it again. Alien enemies act. Right. They do stuff parts of the Constitution that serve the federal government. That's right. The partisan purposes of this administration. But they never do it for things that aren't, you know, their team. And I think, look, Donald Trump would say it's because they ask me in questions. And if they ask nicer questions, though it's interesting because Peter Ducey, son of Steve Ducey, host of Fox Morning Show on the curvy couch, which is Donald Trump's favorite show, asked a question about sharing intelligence with Ukraine that was Katie Zachariah couldn't answer it, which, you know, was a pretty tough question relatively speaking. I mean, the good news is this administration makes such, you know, it was so committed to make you a mass that there's so many questions to ask that even Breitbart or Fox News is stumbling on real news. Yeah. Well, with that's why the press briefing lasted 14 minutes, right? Like this is Darlene Graham levels of incompetence. Like this is an in my daily way, national security. I don't really talk about that. And then at the end of this, Zachariah, the new press secretary says, the president is about to leave for Alaska. He had questions because he's quote his own best spokesperson, which then, like, what is the fucking point of even having a press briefing room? What is the point of having a White House press corps that goes to these briefings every day? If really, it's just all listen to Donald and whatever he says. I do have to say that if you're Donald Trump, you're delighted by that, right? Because you don't really want anyone talking about anything real anyway. And you are, I mean, like, remember, again, back to this unitary executive theory, the whole thing the Supreme Court did was give Donald Trump the carte blanche to be the big boss when it comes to everything, right? They wanted a superpower for president. They wanted a unitary executive. Now it did just as John Roberts wanted to be Donald Trump. Probably not. Because it's such a moron. But, you know, but that's you, you know, you dance with the one you're with. And you're dancing with Donald Trump. So I do think like in his mind, I'm sure that's like the best thing she could say. Ultimately, Zachariah, she, she serves for party of one, right? She's there for, for one, an audience of one. So the question is like, you can survive in Trump world and be very destructive. I mean, a good example is Laura Lumer. Like, Laura Lumer has been back to brief Donald Trump on whatever she's found on the internet. So like, you don't necessarily need to be a, you know, a legit person who does, who knows national security to get in there and to get Donald Trump's ear, which is why we're probably all in a lot of trouble. Yeah. Yeah. Laura fucking Lumer in there briefing him on whatever she's found on the internet that day. And that's how we make our decisions here in the United States of America. That's right. How about y'all? Yes. I got one more for you, speaking of freedom of speech and the first amendment. Trump held a rally in Youngstown, Ohio last night. And during the rally, a protester was trying to express dissent when she was punched and subdued as Trump cheered on the aggressors and assultors from stage. Here is a clip of that moment. Columbia should not be in Columbus, Ohio. Don't we love Lauren for us, but he's got to go on a diet. He's a fat guy. Wow. Freedom of speech is for me, but not for the, this is a really disturbing video. Like, yeah, it's the chance of USA as someone who's trying to perform their constitutional right and speak freely is silenced and physically hurt. I think she's bleeding as she's escorted out. And the president is calling her names. And effectively, he says, you know, there's scum of the earth. It is the ultimate weaponization of the bully pulpit that is the presidency. And it should alarm like, where's the outrage on the right? Yeah, you know, the one thing I would say that I think is really important. I'm thinking about Rob Sand in Iowa, who has protesters and he'll engage with the protester and he became friends with his GOP tracker, and he did a little thing with him. And you know, GOP trackers are people from the other party who follow you around to make sure you see if you do something worth tweeting about. And like, I think that's a great example of what people want at this moment, which is like, you know, after a decade of this kind of combative behavior, what voters want. I mean, we just see this again and again is they just want, they don't want this. They don't like it. There's a reason that our politics wasn't like this for years and years and years. And like, maybe there was a populist rage that he expressed in a certain way, but I think ultimately voters don't like it. I mean, the most, the sort of 80% in the middle finds this really disgusting. So I think, you know, look, Trump is on a base mission right now, because he's hoping that if you can get the pure mega to come out the way they did in 24, he can eke out of when. But, you know, I think that the normals are pretty upset about what he's done. And they're pretty angry. And I think it's going to be harder to make that case to mag as one gas is five, six dollars a gallon. And so I do, you know, diesel is six dollars a gallon, regular gas is four dollars a gallon. I mean, it's expensive. And, you know, they put him in this position because he said he was going to make things cheaper. And I just think you can't, you know, you can't spend gas prices. The transfer in strategy of making ginning up right wingers to basically transpose their anger and resentment onto trans communities and lives isn't going to work. The reality is they know why they're hurting. They know what the problem is. They know who created the problem. And that's that. Like, just using lives and trans communities and Haitians as whipping posts is like it. So maybe that would have worked three or four years ago, but it's just not fucking working now. And what it is just doing is degrading the president and his party beyond recognition. Yeah. And because you have a Congress that has so submitted itself, has so yoked itself to an unpopular executive, you have a rage from the base and not just from the base from the electorate, which I think is unusual, because you have seen a party where they did not run a check on the war on the tariffs on things that were broadly unpopular and made their lives more expensive. And so I do think if you do see a kind of catastrophic midterm for the Republicans, which I think you may, it will be because of that kind of saying, it will be because Congress did not do its job and really gave up the goat on trying to run any kind of oversight. Always brilliant. Molly John fast, even when you put her in a hallway with a janitorial staff needing to do their work in a sense, baby. It's severance. It is. You're speaking to us from the set of severance. Molly, this is why, you know, this is why you need to subscribe to both of our YouTube channels. Yes. Fast, politics and runaway country because you get this kind of good good. Molly, thank you for taking time to share part of your brain with us today. I'm sorry. I had to erode it by playing Donald Trump clips, but such is our American political life. I wish you good luck out there and thank you everybody for tuning in.
