Abu Dhabi called it a flagrant violation of UN Security Council 2817 on freedom of navigation. The UAE is demanding Iran halt attacks, commit to an immediate ceasefire and reopen the Strait unconditionally. No injuries were reported. So obviously, the UAE is giving it the big talk about this. U.S. Navy vessel. The statement literally says they buy two warning shots toward the ship, but cannot comment on whether there was any damage. The so actually, let me recap for your entire audience. I know exactly what's going on. So basically, we got reports initially that Iran had fired two missiles and hit a U.S. Navy warship. That was the first piece of news we got. That was from Fars. which is Iranian media. media. CENTCOM came out and said, no, this is not true. No missiles were fired. But CENTCOM did not say whether a ship, sorry, CENTCOM said, let me rephrase that, CENTCOM said our ships weren't hit. But what they didn't say was whether missiles were fired or not. Iran's IRGC say that they fired two warning missiles, but they don't say whether they hit the ship as well. So it seems like the IRGC and CENTCOM may not be too far away from what they're saying. Both of them aren't saying or confirming whether, well, CENTCOM's denying the ship was hit. IRGC haven't said whether the ship has been hit yet, but Iranian media are saying the ship was hit. So hopefully that kind of explains the three different narratives on this at the moment. Okay. What was the last thing that CENTCOM said? They said that they intercepted it or it didn't hit them? What was their thing? No, they're just saying precisely, specifically that our ship wasn't hit. They're not saying whether the missiles were fired or not. Gotcha. Okay. Okay. Now, I guess this leads to the second question. Were they warning shots or were they actually real shots? Very good question. I believe CENTCOM, I believe the, let me just double check. Yeah. What did the Iranian media say? Did they say it was like a hit? Iranian media announced that it was warning shots. The Fars News an hour ago said that two shots were, you know, launched from Iran and they hit the American ship, not the warship, not the carrier, but one warship. But then the Navy, Iranian Navy, not IRGC Navy, put out a statement saying that two warning shots have been fired. Details will follow. And the details have not been announced yet. They said we don't know anything about casualties or the direct hit. But as soon as we get more information, we will update you. So on that front, it wasn't a carrier. So, McMercy, what you said first, at first it was two missiles, then you said three. Is it two or three or is it five? No, no, two, two. No, two. I said the Fars News Agency said two were hits, but that was probably a mistake because we don't have the definitive answer yet. No confirmed news as for the hits. But then the Navy, Iranian Navy, just put out the statement that two missiles were shot as warning to the American warship and not the carrier, just the warship. And obviously it is not, you know, reasonable to think it was a carrier because a carrier moving means a lot of warship around it. And it is a very big movement. So having that kind of move, it's meaningless if you don't respond. But then they said it returned and it didn't continue. It was near Josk, I think, island-wise or something like that. were going to use for this mission quite a large amount of their own military armada to try and help these ships through the straight because initially we got the trump statement we thought oh my god trump's saying he's going to escort this ship this is going to escalate and then you saw my interview with uh dimitri and larry johnson where we end up asking him is this exactly when the news came out and then we start getting reports from the wall street journal that said that no america is not going to be using its military assets and it's just going to be giving these ships a rule which we um which again they got a lot of help from russia in developing um they can store them there and then let them go right from their submarines so they can launch these automated drones from submarines that loiter for days imagine that um and and they have um kamikaze drones as well that are submarine launched and and these are like more sub to air so if they have subs for example like if you're out in the arabian sea you can bring uh you can go up to around like 25 meters below depth let off these kamikaze drones um and then pretty much like it's and that is also a world first capability they debuted that last year um and again you just let that off it's a swarm of drones that they can fire from a submarine again um and that can typically hit i imagine that that would hit um i think from their kilo class subs i think they can launch about like six or eight of them they can let those aerial loiter right so again they can persist their loiter for two to four hours of flight time until the ai knows the target for the diaphragm attack so iran can do that and we're talking about like this idea that there was any no granted i think it does show this morning that iran is serious that contact they have equipped some of their uh missiles and drones with this proximity fuse where um especially for heat seekers like uh the proximity fuse usually for missiles that they send with heat seekers um they can essentially like when they come near typically um f-35s for example or even some of the arlie class destroyers that andrew was talking about send off flares that are meant to kind of like confuse the missile that's targeting them um and so that proximity fuse allows it to kind of like to tell out using its laser or radio frequency sensors it tells out like exactly what the target is and it's able to determine um that their target is a vessel as opposed to those flares if that makes sense right if you have a heat seeking missile flares are helpful to distract the missile and lure them into you know hitting the wrong target or being misdirected uh but if you have the missile hit the uh or if the missile can tell apart right um using its electrospectral monitoring then it'll literally um it'll literally be able to or rather excuse me it's uh i think it's spectral optical monitoring i think that's the term for it uh it'll be able to make out the the um vessel that it's targeting from the flares and then uh explode near it and that is exactly what iran had happened to an f-35 uh about like six weeks ago and if you remember centcom also said oh no that was not hit our f-35 was not hit right and this is what made me think of that because if they're they're gonna say oh we weren't hit even though you had a proximity fuse of f-35s and you're like oh no that's not gonna affect your jet and cause it to uh do an emergency landing then who knows if that's not what they're doing here as well that's the great point inevitable yeah that's the point that we just don't know what the truth is and i think um out of the three different positions what the irgc are saying is probably the most accurate uh statement but there again you don't know because what they've It turned out not to be true, but I still think it underscores some of the risks that are inherent here as President Trump tries to get vessels flowing through this, straight of Hormuz. It has the possibility, if the Iranians fire back, of breaching the ceasefire, which is still in place, but obviously something that the president doesn't want to be affected as he tries to pursue diplomacy with Tehran. You know, it's not precisely clear what some of the American assets that CENTCOM has said will be involved in all this will actually be doing. They say it will involve guided missile destroyers, more than 100 aircraft, drones, more than 2,000 service members. But how all of those assets sort of play in to reopening the strait isn't precisely clear. An American official said that Project Freedom was not an escort mission. And so we don't know exactly what guiding will mean. I think the suggestion is that the military will essentially coordinate with these ships to show them which channels in the strait are the safest and sort of through their presence in the region provide some reassurance to these vessels. But of course, this claim today by the Iranians, I think just underscores why so many shipping companies and ship pilots don't want to cross through the Strait of Hormuz because they believe it is unsafe. So a number of challenges, I think, for the president. That's underscored by what we've seen in the shipping traffic just this morning. They have shown that virtually no tankers or cargo transiting through the strait, despite what the president said, would be good. So I think this is going to be going into effect today. Of course, you also have the diplomacy. The other thing also, guys, that no one's talking about is the huge amount of fertilizer that's not in the market right now. Energy imports, what that means kind of weeks with oil moving higher again and so what could be happening and I think is happening with not just Europe, Asia, but definitely the GCC is some amount of US Treasury selling to raise dollars to prepare for higher oil because not only are these countries short, not GCC, but not only are these countries short, not GCC, but not only are these countries short, but not GCC, but not GCC. But Europe and Asia, not only is Europe and Asia short oil, they're also short dollars, and the dollar had been strengthening, you know, kind of in the early part of the war, and probably would start to move higher again, if things really kind of got heated, I would, I would imagine, but, you know, there is a potential we're kind of in a turning point with the dollar, you know, not not as predictable as it might have used to been. So, yeah. So, yeah, I think that US Treasury yields moving higher is really the kind of key metric to watch, not the stock market. I think the stock market is definitely important. I think the US economy is entirely reliant on the stock market going up into the right, I put out an article in 2024, Paul Tudor Jones is out now talking about this but you know I've been saying it for years now which is the stock market has gotten so large that you know the government and the government is not going to be able to do anything about it. You talk about a financial crisis, it would come out of the bond market and it would come out of a disorderly sell-off in bonds and bond yields being inversed to the price of the bond. So if everyone's dumping bonds, US treasuries, you're going to get rates moving kind of vertical. That is really the risk for financial crisis. Not really the stock market goes down 2% one day, and then it goes down another 2%. That's not really that concerning, really, honestly. What is really concerning would be the move in interest rates. So it's not just a story here in the US. Interest rates in Great Britain, in France, in Germany, in Japan, right? You kind of go down the list. Interest rates all over the world are moving higher. And in the rest of the world, they're moving higher at a greater pace, into a larger magnitude than we are getting here in America. But nonetheless, the US treasury market is the largest market in the world. And not only that, but it is the global collateral for the entire global financial system. So US treasuries, a lot of people know dollar reserve. It's not actually dollars. When we talk about the reserve currency and dollar and all that kind of thing, we're not talking about the dollar. We're talking about the dollar. We're talking about the hundred dollar bills, right? We're talking US treasuries. We're talking maybe short-term treasuries, but treasuries nonetheless, which is a dollar instrument, right? If you're France and you own a US treasury, you are long the dollar. And not only that, but you get interest in dollar terms, right? That interest that you get is paid out of dollars. So that is really kind of what we're talking about. That is the global collateral for the entire modern financial system globally. And so, you know, you get rates going kind of vertical, right? In a disorderly kind of way. What that means is the price or the value of the bond is going down in a non-linear vertical kind of way. And when the value of collateral falls too much in a levered system, where there is a large amount of leverage, that is where you get really, really big shocks. That's what happened in 2008, right? You had the value of the homes, those homes being the collateral for the MBS market. Home prices fell too fast and too rapidly. And that put into question the entire mortgage-backed security market. Now there were a lot of other issues going on, but you cannot have US treasuries selling off in a non-linear kind of way, or the entire global financial system starts to become at risk. I know that might sound like hyperbole, but trust me, That is really what matters, not the stock market, not even necessarily oil. Although it's kind of like bond yields are a second derivative of oil, right? If oil is moving higher, bond yields are going to be moving higher.
