A formal impeachment process is underway against U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hexeth, initiated by Congressman Thomas Massey and backed by sufficient Republican votes. This marks a rare but significant step toward holding high-level administration officials accountable. The move is part of a broader pattern of targeting Trump-era officials, including RFK Jr. and health department leaders. Public frustration over war, tariffs, and corruption has intensified, fueling demand for systemic reform. Governor Wes Moore highlights the political shift in Maryland, where decisive electoral wins signal a public rejection of gerrymandering and wartime policies. He stresses that Maryland must now act to establish fair redistricting and address long-standing issues like child poverty and education. Despite President Trump’s recent claims of cooperation, skepticism persists due to past actions, emphasizing the need for verification. Democrats are now urged to prioritize immediate legislative action on war, economic policy, and social services, using their newly gained power to implement policies that reflect public demand. The conversation underscores a shift in American political dynamics, where accountability, democratic integrity, and responsive governance are becoming central to the new era.
Buckle up. Accountability is beginning. Pete Hexeth will likely be impeached by the United
States House of Representatives as soon as the end of this month. An impeachment vote will be
scheduled next week. Congress is coming back into session even before Democrats are able to take
over the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. Republicans in
Congress are officially tired of the Secretary of Defense. He may be the first, but he may not be
the last to be impeached. Impeachment is a very rare tool. It is not used often. A president has
only been impeached four times. President Trump has been impeached two out of those four times.
Cabinet secretaries are also impeached at a rare rate during the Biden administration era. You had
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas face impeachment there. But this impeachment of Pete Hexeth is not
only expected to pass, it can be by wide margins. I spoke with Governor Wes Moore about all this
and more. Make sure to subscribe. We're on the road to a million subscribers. Like, comment,
share. Let's jump in because right now, Congressman Thomas Massey has officially begun the
process of forcing a vote on the impeachment of Secretary Hexeth.
The lawful conduct of United States military operations, the integrity and credibility of
United States Armed Forces and the Constitution, if allowed to remain in office, and has acted in
a manner grossly incompatible with his duties and the rule of law. Peter Brian Hexeth thus warrants
impeachment and trial, removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy
any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States. I yield back.
That is Thomas Massey announcing the impeachment resolutions. Here's how this is going to work.
Impeachment in the United States House of Representatives only requires a majority vote.
There is nothing stopping this from happening. A resolution has been put forth. The vote will
be forced. Republicans behind the scenes told CNN there are enough votes, more than enough,
to force the impeachment of Hexeth, the U.S. President, and the president of the United States.
Hexeth is not the only one. Articles of impeachment have been filed against individuals like RFK Jr.,
the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Linda McMahon, the Secretary of Education,
and others. And so this could open up a massive, massive cascading waterfall
of targeting other Trump administration officials. Accountability is critical. And I spoke with
Governor Wes Moore about what that looks like. Giddy up. Subscribe to support this work. My
conversation with the governor. Governor Wes Moore, so great to be here with you. I really want to jump right in
because a lot of Republicans I see on the internet are really feeling like Ravens fans after Lamar
Jackson suffers his yearly injury. How are you feeling today? I am. I ain't feeling like that.
Listen, I'm feeling good because I think that the people spoke and,
you know, the message that they sent was just loud and clear. They're tired, right? They're
they're tired of the corruption and the grifting. They're tired of the fact that we are
fighting wars that nobody asked for. They're tired of the fact that that the president is
putting tariffs on us. And the president said the tariffs were going to be a boon for the American
people. But all they've been is a bill for the American people. And so I think people are just
ready for for for people to disrupt the status quo and do something different. And I think so. I think
we had a really good night around it. You won by almost 30 points in your race,
which is pretty significant, given the fact that people forget you had a Republican governor in the
state just a few years back. This is not this has been a swing state back and forth. But the bigger
one, I think, is the question three win, which also won by a wide margin. What happens next?
So, you know, I tell people that this this is a monumental win for the people of Maryland because
the people of Maryland over in an overwhelming fashion, they spoke and they said that at a time
when we were watching Donald Trump trying to unilaterally redistrict this country to try to
make this pain permanent because he doesn't want to be the president. And I think that's a big win.
This is a time for Maryland to be able to push back. And the people of Maryland agreed. And so now
what we see is that the courts have spoken, the people have spoken. And so now Maryland must meet
the moment. And so while I believe in national redistricting reform, I'm also I know that Donald
Trump does not. So I'm not holding my breath and waiting for that to happen while he continues to
try to gerrymander this country. So it is time, though, I will be getting together with the General
Assembly. But it is time for Maryland now to meet the moment. So right now, Maryland has a seven to
one map. Democrats have seven seats. Republicans have one in their congressional seats. Do you
expect to redraw such that it becomes an eight O map? Well, I expect that we are going to have
fair maps inside of our state. And and the truth is, is that when you're looking at this country,
about ninety two, ninety three percent of our congressional districts, they are they are not
competitive. Right. The biggest challenge is a Democrat. The biggest concern they have is a
primary to their left. The biggest concern for a Republican is a primary to their right. And that
is what's causing so much of this of this of this division that we have. And frankly, Maryland is not
immune to that. If you look at our maps and I do think it is important that if the rest of the
country is going to have a mid decade discussion about do they have fair maps, I do not think that
Maryland should be left out of that conversation. That's what question three authorizes. And I do
think this does give us a chance now. And I will be working with the members of the General Assembly
to ensure that that we can make sure that maps are going to be are going to be fair and are going to
be representative of what the aspirations of our state is. I want to get your reaction to something
Vice President Vance said today. He said, quote, The reason we lost is the war and everyone knows
why we lost. Any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. What's your
reaction? You know, my reaction is is I have.
I've never seen a grown man grow a spine. That comment would have been great six months ago
before we started bombing people. That comment would have been great before the president started
spending tens of billions of dollars and started giving away national treasure, both of blood and
and finances. So, you know, I'm glad that that that I guess that J.D. Vance has said the said the truth.
But it would have been nice had he done that before they started to doing doing these bombing
campaigns. And it still doesn't adjust the fact that we're still at war right now and we're still
at a war that we're losing. And so, you know, we're seeing this circular firing squad amongst
the Republicans that are taking place about who to blame. But at some point they really have to
look themselves in the mirror and they each one of them and they have to say to themselves,
you allow this to happen. You allow the American people to go through this pain. You allow the
President of the United States to continually break laws and break rules and did not choose
to check him at all. So, frankly, the hex is now going to be on all of you. You talk about the
war. You talk about accountability. There's rumblings, at least right now in D.C., that
Hexeth may be going soon. The president may consider firing Hexeth or there could be an
impeachment vote in the House of Representatives in the next couple of weeks. Do you support Hexeth
leaving his term as secretary of defense? I don't think he should have been there in the first place.
That's the most he is. And listen, as a as a veteran myself, as someone who served overseas
and served in Afghanistan, you know, I take that role very seriously. This is a person who is in
charge of making sure and maintaining the health and welfare and safety of our of our nation's
soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines. The one who's in charge of making sure that we are fighting
and winning our nation's wars and we're doing it smartly. The one who's in charge of ensuring that
they are giving
the president the right counsel. And I think Hexeth has not only been deeply unqualified for
that job. I think he has been the most disastrous in that role that we have seen across the board.
So, you know, I support them being able to to impeach him. But then again, I don't think he
should have been there in the first place. It's a new day in America. Democrats are
going to have the House of Representatives. They're going to have the United States Senate.
What should they be doing right now? I think they should be focusing on what
we're going to do to immediately address what the American people just told us.
And I think it's going to be twofold. I think the American people said that they need that we have
to be able to address this this corruption and this grifting that is going on. And we need to
make sure we are doing things that's making their life easier. And I don't think we should have to
think about what is the choice between those things. And so everything that we can do to rein in these wars,
to let the president of the United States know that you do not have the authority to unilaterally
fight or wage wars on people, that that matters. I think we've got to be able to address these
tariffs because it is just making life remarkably difficult on on on everybody inside of our country.
And I think we've got to make sure that we are now enabling laws and preparing to pass laws
that then we can move. And frankly, we can move with or without the president's signature. And,
and that includes on things like making sure that people are not losing health care. That means
addressing things like immigration reform. That means addressing the things that the American
people have been calling for. But we have just been continually blocked by not just Donald Trump,
but this but the sycophants in Congress that have allowed him to do it. And so I think these
are things that we've got to do. And we've got to start doing now to be able to address these issues.
Now, Donald Trump has changed his tune over the past 12 hours,
saying now he wants to work with Democrats. He doesn't want to veto everything like before. That's
he's been telling reporters lately.
Now, over the past 18 months, he hasn't really wanted to work
with you much he has disinvited you from events he has stonewalled you whenever he had the
opportunity do you see that changing over the next two years i i don't i mean in the in the in the
words of jay-z we don't believe you you need more people you know so listen i i would love for that
to be the case there's just been no evidence um that that that is the case and and and i really
do believe in you know in the old uh in the old school beliefs of uh of uh of trust but verify
and since there is since all trust has been broken by this president uh we're just gonna be forced
to just verify and we've just seen no evidence that that is what he wants to do uh you know but
one thing i will say though is is i do hope that we do have that opportunity with the republicans
who are going to congress because i and i know that is possible because we've been able to do
it with the national governors association with the other republican governors where with
republican governors and i serve as chair of the national government association so we've been built
really strong bonds with republican governors and where we are working together on very big issues
i do hope that is the mentality that they will have with the other republican members of the the
house and the senate to find the places of progress uh where we can you talk about rolling back things
like tariffs ending the war in iran if you had it your way over the next two years but even beyond
four years six years what is the democratic process going to look like in the next two years
what does the democratic party stand for results that it's it that this this become a party um
that actually addresses the issues that people have been asking for not for years but in some
cases generations um i don't understand why we have not yet fixed the issue of child poverty in
our society except we've made the choice not to i don't understand why it's still so difficult
to build affordable housing uh inside of our country except we've just chosen to make it
difficult i don't understand why we can have a a public school system uh in this country that is
not preparing our children for uh either jobs or or or higher education and why we don't have
a public education system universally um that that is making sure that our children are not
just trained to be employees but employers uh and so i i want us to be able to move with a sense of
speed and urgency i want us to do like for example in maryland where we made maryland the first state
in the country that has a service year option for all of our high school graduates and that is now
being modeled around the country um that we focused on the issue of generational childhood poverty
and the work that we're doing in 30 different communities in maryland is now becoming a model
for the rest of the country you know there are places in where the states can really serve as
laboratories but i think if the democratic party addresses the results problem then we forever will
no longer have a messaging problem hey folks thanks so much for watching feel free to add
