Welcome back slurs to this wonderful podcast i'm ghostface killer and i am dwana barner this is the reed thank you for joining us it is in fact welcome back everyone uh to the podcast we're gonna get things swimming i believe this is our last week in pride month juneteenth is over so all right well let's just start with some black excellence this week and i'm going to be passing it to a beautiful woman named marley diaz marley diaz is an author she's an activist and she has a new book called i am the dream come true it's children's book that she's co-authored with um with her mother and with her dad and it's basically a book that's inspired by um the traces of generations of family uh from jamaica to cape verde with you know her own family history and it's meant to encourage young readers to kind of understand the people and generations before them ancestors and so on and the decisions that led them to being the people that they are today um marley diaz launched a campaign called 1000 black girl books when she was 11. yes um because she noticed that there weren't that many books featuring black girls which is a true and unfortunate fact um and so she's been on this long road of representation in literature for a while i am the dream come true it seems to be the latest uh effort in that she said a love letter that doesn't make demands of you it just affirms you she told us to the griot that's the register we wanted for this book the lessons are there but they sit underneath the affirmation rather than in front of it i think kids absorb history better when it's offered to them rather than assigned to them which i think is lovely indeed i saw that her mother is dr janice diaz and i did just like a quick google search on her and it looks like i see where your daughter gets it ma'am yes i do like yeah this is coming from the top down and the whole family is involved with the writing of the book and all that so beautiful girl beautiful family um congratulations i love to see this oh her mom named her after bob marley oh that's so cute cute yeah marley's an adorable name congratulations to you and the amazing family and um i'll probably grab one of these and see what it's giving yeah island sis okay let's get into some pop culture in our hot tops segment my word what do we have here for today so apparently there's juice here's some sort of uh beyonce narrated jay-z hair transformation featurette yes i went and watched the whole ad on youtube after i saw the clips uh circulating online and i mean i think it was pretty easy to call it once he combed when he combed his locks out everybody was like oh yeah this is this is gonna be a sacred commercial so i think we all saw that coming but it was really beautiful um really well done you know beautifully produced as with everything beyonce touches but yeah they really went into how long it took to comb the locks out how they combined different products and they used the sacred styling tools and you know we got a couple shots of blue not her face but like her combing his hair out and it's just the whole seven minute video is really really sweet so beyonce even brought up how it started because blue ivy was feeling insecure about her hair when she was like five years old and so jay was like i'm gonna grow my hair out yeah he was like i'm gonna grow my hair out so that you see that like you and daddy got the same hair and it's beautiful and you know we all remember people talking big shit about blue's hair when she was little not that you know blue was online to see that but um yeah it's so it was uh it's an excellent ad i'm sure uh i'm sure them sacred orders have been looking crazy since tracy combed his hair out but you know they went into a lot of detail about it and it just yeah i mean well beyonce knows what the fuck she's doing bro she does i think when it's all said and done sacred is gonna be the most profitable venture that she has outside of music like it's just yeah i can see that yeah they're excellent products every line is excellent the the styling tools are excellent everything about it is just a1 and so yeah i do love to see his is beautiful like it just oh yeah it looks very healthy yes so it is excellent marketing baby it worked for sure i saw a lot of people saying you know i thought as somebody with locks or wicks that you know sacred would not be for me and beyonce was like let me tell you this man has been using sacred since day one he washes his hair religiously with it he uses the product so you know all of that all of that yeah they do know what they're doing they do they do and i did see where he said or where it was said that he uh that blue ivy was like the inspiration for doing it when i first read that little headline i was like well yeah yeah i mean blue ivy sound like she's been telling him what to do with his hair so she'd speak but i didn't have the full context of that which is beautiful yeah it's a very nice ad um do i have anything positive to talk about outside of that jesus alive tonight oh no um mayor mom and donnie's surprised oh sorry it's been a great week even know what i'm about no but it's been great times i mean i think he just gets up at four o'clock and he's like how can i change the world for the better i'll just get started i'll do 10 things very 20 tomorrow the nigga just doesn't stop he's the he has the nerve to be so handsome and so friendly he's a cutie patootie new york is up like 20 so we are we are we are um you know rikers island has has graduates people who go through like the high school program and graduate and stuff like that and so mayor mom donnie surprised a whole bunch of of graduates on rikers island yes he did yes showed up it was for 57 different students who who earned uh diplomas and gds from what's called the east river academy uh inside inside of the jail complex obviously but i don't think anybody expected the bright smiling mayor of new york city to show up for them yeah um it says that he arrived and the surprise landed exactly the way it's pressured with a shift in the air that told everyone this day was going to matter yes baller alert so i just think this man is so fire like he really is i think he's so fire popping up at the next parade he loves new york really does down loves that city he does down and on top of that he has the nation quaking because now the girls are like the democratic socialists are just yeah getting much more wave and much more uh media coverage and things like that yeah and the red girls are quivering they are they cannot take it because this was their fear with with mom donnie in the first place um or dad don this is absolutely not i'm gonna call him daddy donnie no i won't that's just true i they were you know very much against him outside of pretending like they don't know how to say his name yeah outside of his you know his ethnicity and his heritage and all of that stuff they're like well we can't have no damn open proud social because then who knows people are gonna realize that it it works just fine and it's actually quite helpful for everybody and then they're gonna want more of it right and then what about my boat so what about my boat so i live for the mum don yeah it has been a long time since i've been to the mum don it has been nice and uh we just had a primary election yesterday and all three of the candidates that he endorsed won so it's like new york we're doing new york city is doing it yes we are and yeah i mean i think the democratic establishment is also getting a little nervous they're like what now wait a minute now it can't keep going but yes the fuck it can because you know eric adams was technically a democrat and and that nigga didn't do nothing but smoke hookah and go to the club the whole time he was in office You know, siphon money from the city and shit like that. So to see somebody who cares so much about not just the city and like the status of it, but the actual everyday people who keep this bitch running. It's just it's beautiful. It's a beautiful thing. And we are we are moving away from Israel. We are moving away from Palantir and, you know, all this AI bullshit and all this. Like we are voting for candidates who are like, we're actually going to put our people first. We are going to prioritize what people actually need. So it's feeling great in Mamdanistan. I cannot lie. It's been up for a while. And the vibes, they're just not going away. Imagine that being breathtaking. Oh, someone is in office. Right. Cares about the country. Loves and cares and looks after the people. Yeah. Yeah. That is a game shaker. And it is pretty sad. Yeah. Yeah, it is. Welcomed with open arms. People are like, oh, politicians can go to office and then get to work. This is crazy. Interesting. We didn't know y'all could just go do things. Wow. Imagine being efficient. Imagine doing what you told the people you would do. I thought you get sworn in. They give you your official. Lines of coke. And then. And you're honest. You just do whatever the fuck you want. Yeah. An empty bag of sun chips that's full of cash. So you can bribe the press and the media. And then you're on your merry way. If it's Harvest Cheddar, it's over 500 pounds. No. It's been. Original. Yeah. It's lower. Oh, what's that? It's like a. How do you. It's like sun dried tomato or something. Oh, the garden. The garden. Salsa. Yeah. That's another. No. That's another hit. Now, that's the doll. Babe. Okay. You are the snacking candy king. Girl, I miss me a Harvest Cheddar. I went in a while. All right. This is kind of sad. Money Long says that she. She had one week to live, according to doctors recently, and she had to have emergency. An emergency double lung transplant. Um, and I think that she also. She's also reported that she are revealed, I guess, that she has been dealing with lupus since 2014. I don't think I knew that and develop pneumonia while she was touring or she was on the road. And she said by her last show, I just barely made it. I was only able to do two songs. Yeah. Um, oh yeah. She was on, uh, Brandy and Monica. Yes. Yes. So she said she knew something was wrong for quite some time. And yeah, the doctor told her that she had to get a double lung transplant. She could have died if it had been any longer. And girl, my heart goes out because I can only imagine that being anybody's reality. Right. For any reason. Right. Like, you know me. If the, if the doctor was like, your lungs are looking dead, I don't know, we giving you this medication and don't speak for a week. I would act like you told me that I was stranded on top of a freezing mountain and there was nobody coming to save me. Like, I'm so dramatic when I don't feel good. Oh, yeah. But this is something worse than that. And you're a. Singer, so I don't know what complications this can have for someone's voice. I imagine it clearly does. And someone with such a beautiful voice, I just can't help with saying my heart goes out to you because that's gotta be awful. I don't even know what recovery for having two lungs. Right. Right. It's been months. I think she said, um, I think she said she had been like coughing and spitting up all the time. And it was just like, oh, well, it's just part of life. I'm like, girl, no. And that she said, she was like, I really had no business going on that tour. And I remember when she dropped out, a bunch of people thought it was because she was. She had fake beef with Mariah Carey or something. I don't even remember what she said. What? Remember? Oh, I, I like heard of that. Yeah. She said something about Mariah Carey and then a couple of weeks later, maybe she was off of that tour and people were like, because she went up against Mariah. No, the girl was about to die, but yeah. Yeah. So anyway, um. But thanks for offering your two cents. She did also have vocal cord surgery. Um. Jesus Christ. Yeah. So she, you know, the recovery has been a lot for her, but I'm just glad she actually did, you know, sit down somewhere, go see a doctor because I mean, a doctor telling me I have one week to live if I don't do this, that is so fucking terrifying. Like. I'm taking a hundred weeks off. So yeah. She was like, yeah. Um. Being faced with my own mortality. Yeah. I am now finna start putting myself first, taking care of myself so that I can take care of others. I be doing the most. Then I got to chill. And that is so real. So many black women have that exact same experience. So I'm just glad it worked out well for her really, because that could have been a tragic story. So many black women. You know, I don't, I really loved when she was Priscilla Renee. I really liked the Priscilla Renee personality. I forgot about that. But money long is, uh, I mean, you know, the money is long. She's quite talented. She's written a lot of songs. She can, she can sing. Beautiful girl. So yeah. Yeah. Hope she comes back in full force whenever she's ready. Okay. Well, I have to watch this clip later. That's a caption POV. My dog eat my Jamaican food because it's just the dog licking an empty box going crazy. Oh, is it? Oh, I don't know. I'm guessing. Cause if Lainey. Let's see what happened. If Lainey. Oh my God. It literally is. Hold on. Of course it is. No. My, oh my God. It literally is. It's an empty thing of Jamaican food. Yeah. Here go the dog on a side. That would be Lainey trying to break down oxtail bones and look at the f*cking terrible. I don't think, I don't think this baby was supposed to eat it. Absolutely not. Absolutely not. The bowl is empty and they suck it. Absolutely not. Absolutely not. Maybe it was supposed to be there. Absolutely not. Absolutely not. But the pool was empty and they switched her. The dog has curry sauce on it. It's a white dog. Oh, no. But the dog's old face is like golden. Oh, no. It just has curry sauce over his little face. Oh, my God. Now we got to take you to the fucking ER. Chloe, it's a girl. Right. They over here holding her paws. But Chloe is like, I'm fine. I'm completely full. Chloe said, and if death comes, it was worth it. Bitch, there's so much onion and garlic in there. You can't have nothing. God damn. Now I got to go spend $600 for them to make you throw up. Legitimately. I'm like, well, great. I hope it was tasty, Link, because now we're going to ER. Right. Right. I hope you enjoyed it, bitch. Chloe looks like, what's the problem? Baby, when I tell you that would absolutely be Lainey, I'm so lucky she's short and can't reach a lot of shit, because that would absolutely be her if she had the chance. Oh, my God. This is so funny. Rude and greedy, but only greedy for human food. She don't give a fuck about dog food, but human food, please. She all over this shit. Oh, my God. It looks like mama didn't even know. You can get to taste it. I know they was pissed. Oh, I know they was pissed. It's the curry all over her face. These dogs, man. Dogs are so great. They are. They're everything. Waymo has recalled nearly 4,000 of their AI cars, whatever the fuck you call these shits. Robotaxis. Jesus alive. There's been a software issue. That's allowed some of the vehicles to drive into closed highway construction zones. What? The voluntary recall affects approximately 3,900 vehicles. It's the fifth and sixth generation of the driving systems. And this comes after 13 incidents over here, Arizona, California. Girl, I don't know about LA. I mean, New York. I'm sure Waymo. I can't beat that big of a thing in New York. I mean, not compared to here. Yeah, I really don't think so. Because they have a whole taxi. They are the taxi industry. Yeah. Oh. You know where else they are? The last couple of times I've been in Atlanta, they've been everywhere and they have them weird little camera, whatever that thing is at the front or at the top of it. Inspector Gadget shit. Oh, four days ago, Waymo has been defeated by New York City. They are not having it. Local politicians, labor unions and the taxi lobby. Damn. Even New York Governor Kathy Hochul was forced to resent her offer. After an hour. Yeah, we're not with that shit. We have plenty. We got my Donny land Uber and Lyft. And we baby, we got the subway, the bus. We're not with the shit. No. Yeah. Not interested. I love that so much. Yeah. Because I see them all the time now. And I'm like, not only will I never get in one, I don't want to be by one. And this is even more evidence and reasoning. You mean, because the fuck you mean, they drive it into closed highways already doing construction so we can all die. Imagine you're in the car. And it drives into a part of the highway that's supposed to be closed. Thank you. Ditches, potholes, John Deere tractors or whatever the fuck else. Here go Waymo like skies clear, roads clear. Everyone having a great time. Didn't they? I thought they used to not even be able to go on the highway. Maybe I should just go back to that and have them stick to it. But I guess that would also turn a 45 minute trip into a three hour trip for some reason. It's almost like you hire a person to drive you somewhere and then just cut out all. Almost like that's what you should do. If only somebody would invent an app where people with cars could match up with people who need rides. I'm just saying. It is. It is. It is. It is. It might. It might work. It just might. T.I. recently said in an interview when asked about Versus and the potential to participate in one, which I thought T.I. already did Versus. Could have sworn he did. I guess not. I remember I think him maybe challenging someone to a Versus and it not happening. What was it? 50 Cent? Somebody. Anyway, he was asked about it and he said, I don't want to indulge in that side of life no more. I ain't even interested. Ain't no money over there in that shit, bro. That shit poor people activity. What? I'm 45. What I'm doing going back and forth with a nigga. For what? To celebrate music? I can't do no. I can't do that talking about me. Okay. All right. B2K and Pretty Ricky are having a Versus. Like, come on, man. What are we doing here? All right, T.I. I mean, you literally did one, but okay. Oh, I did hear about the B2K and Pretty Ricky. Yeah, I just heard about it. Yeah. It don't sound to me like Pretty Ricky has a chance in hell, but. I can't imagine how. Like, and I know I was, you know, just a little too old for them groups that they pick, but I just still don't see it. I don't, but. I don't either. Should be fun for all of the. It's money. Yeah. I mean, and for. For them, they probably are like, yeah, let's do that. Let's go ahead. Pretty Ricky don't give a fuck if they lose or not. Poor people activity is interesting. Very interesting. You know, I. That's why I'm like, okay, T.I. Like, you literally did one. So what do you even mean? Like. Your wife did one, too. Are both of you broke? What are you saying? Like, I'm like, why? What? Now that y'all. Now that y'all have done it. It's for broke bitches. You know, I try not to pay too much attention to that little nigga, because he gonna say something stupid and it won't take long. Yeah, it really does take that long. Mm-hmm. So. Child, Clyde Davis did. Ninety-four years old. Yikes. Tay Keith has also passed away. That's pretty sad. Yeah, that was sad. I think he was only 29 or 28 years old. Yeah. Um. There's like an, I think there's a 911 call that his lady maybe placed or, um, he wasn't obviously responding. They, someone eventually did a welfare check and they found him, um, found him dead. It's so crazy to me because first of all, I didn't realize Tay Keith was so young. He must've been making beats for a long time since he was like a late teen, early, you know, early, I mean, professionally. Right. Probably like late teens, early twenties. Right. I said the same thing. I said, no, not Tay Keith. Fuck these niggas up. Like, there's no way. Only 29? Wow, wow, wow. Yeah. So talented. I mean, he has produced a lot of just incredible songs. So that actually fucked me up more than the Clyde Davis thing. And I, I never got over Clyde Davis continuing to have that party while Whitney Houston was dead in that, in that. Room. I never got over that. Same. He's also a bit of a scammer or was, I mean, yeah, there, you, you can find a lot of artists who are like that nigga fucked me over. So, but yeah, the way, but this, yeah, I was like, yeah, what happened? But, you know, I saw the Tay Keith thing come across my, I got one of those little notifications and I did the, no, like I was so saddened by it. And when I saw his age, I got even. Sadder. Yeah. I was like, oh my God, his family. I wonder what happened. These young people. When I saw Clyde Davis was dead this morning, I was like, oh, well. I mean, 94. Also 94. Not a tragedy. Not over here, it ain't. Oh, but yes, rest in peace. Um, girl. Once big tigger. What happened? I am so glad you're here. I'm so glad you brought that up because what the fuck is going on with that man? So I read this on hot new hip hop. It says that over the weekend, big tigger was arrested on battery and third degree child cruelty charges. Because after weeks of allegations made by his wife, Alicia Brown, back in May, authorities opened a domestic dispute investigation after Brown sought medical help. For injuries she allegedly sustained at the time of the arrest. It was unclear whether or not the charges in connection with that investigation. Um, I'm trying to find the end, the information about. Oh, so they said that the wife, I think the wife found some text messages between tigger and a woman that he works with. And so he was like, oh, you know, them, them Texas. Oh. You tripping, blah, blah, blah. And she was like, well, let me see him. And he was like, oh, well, I deleted them and some other ones. So you can't see him. And he started recording her on his phone. She was like, stop recording me. Tried to grab the phone. He tackled her to the phone, to the floor and took the phone back and started calling her psycho. And she was like, oh, I'm going to show you psycho and went into their home office and started unplugging the computer that. Is this video out or is this just detailed? This is no, this is not video. These are the warrants, the arrest warrants, 11 alive, 11 alive, reported on it. And so she started unplugging a computer that she said she helped him by and he approached her from behind, grabbed her arms, you know, told her to stop. And she said at least three times she told him, you know, leave me alone. Get your hands off of me. He refused, started pushing her down. Now, all of this is video. They had a ring. They had a camera in the office. So all of this is on video. And so he started trying to, like, push her out of the office, shoved her and she fell into the door. And that's how she got that giant cut over her eye. And so then he took her to urgent care and the doctors and nurses was like, unfortunately, we are going to have to contact the police. Yeah. That's how that goes. Yeah. And and their 13 year old son was inside the house and he could hear everything that. Right. So really very uncomfortable details in this story. And I'm pretty sure he was supposed to be at the BET Awards. He is the DJ for the Falcons. He's the PA. Yeah. You know, at the games, they play music. I didn't know he DJ, but yeah, go ahead. I mean, it might just be a playlist. I don't know that he's actually up there, you know, for real DJ. I was going to say, this music presented by Spotify. He's also the PA for the Hawks. So it will be interesting. Production assistant? Public awareness announcement. Now, you know, good and damn well. That doesn't make as much sense. In addition to his morning show host duties. So we will see if he has any repercussions as far as his work and appearances. Well, I'm concerned. But yeah, very disturbing. They're being. details i suppose after the uh nurses and physicians i read the urgent care oh yeah yeah contact the police yeah they took a swift ride by collected tigs and um he was booked into fulton county jail boasted bail later that day unsurprisingly right right ten thousand dollars in bond charge battery charge is nine thousand cruelty charge uh another thousand which i feel like they could have been the same nine thousand but anyways um court and things like that to come yep and i suppose we'll see right so bitch nigga you was on your phone cheating first of all texting your wife and you know you were cheating uh you and rather than letting the cheating come to light because it should because cheating is bad you know you did you're like let me attack the mother of my my son my wife let me fight her to cheat like niggas are so stupid they're so dumb yeah yeah you already cheated now you want to catch domestic violence charges too you should just let her find out and divorce you stupid right just you trying to keep her from unplugging that computer with something that was so dumb like yes she just caught you cheating on her like yes she's mad but pushing her so hard that she falls into a door and now she got this deep ass cut over her eye and that was another thing that when they got to the urgent care the you know the medical staff is like oh what happened and he answered but she didn't so i'm sure that was another layer of them being like yeah go on and call them people and when they asked her about it she was like i was scared of what he would do if i told the truth so i just stayed quiet i was like oh probably not the first time you put your hands on her so sorry but oh we gotta call i am gonna have to go ahead and spell the law so sorry but oh we gotta call i am gonna have to go ahead and spell the law because it's looking domestic well i think the only time i ever tried to wrestle somebody away from seeing a computer is when i was a child and my mama i didn't want mama to see that i was playing new grounds video games instead of doing my homework so real when i didn't want my parents to know that i was in them aol chat room showing feet right no the computer doesn't work it's okay it's all good i can't see y'all i'm over here doing asl lying talking about i'm 19 in florida i'm instead of doing my fucking i don't know geography homework i'm in here playing video games where stick figures blow each other up or whatever playing mind sweeper right oh my youth well my heart and prayers go out to uh to miss alicia brown and to her son for that unfortunate situation and here's to healing and and dealing with the trauma of another bitch nigger and his fuckery right because that cut had to be bad had imagine blood pouring out of her face i don't even know how i would have gone to the urgent care and not said something i mean i'm not a woman and i i have not dealt with this but with the domestic situation so i know that there are so many diff there's so much depth and and complication to it but i'm just saying me i likely like you cheated on me and now i'm in urgent care with a gash over my face this did all the things he you name it he did it i hate him when the police came here you name it he did it it's crazy the la fires um that drought from a couple years ago both him and everything else you want he did it it's all that niggas i'm just letting y'all know he got michael vick into dog fighting everything it's all his fault so thank him yeah uh this this is when i saw the details earlier i was like wow this is crazy like bro you just okay well you know there's lessons to be learned here and hopefully you pick something up that's gonna be it for the hot tubs this week hopefully you got something out of this or and little nas x did you see i did not i saw a report of it yeah like a headline i meant to bring it up when you were like is there any other good news he was because he looked so happy he's smiling and um said he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder but he's been in rehab for several months he's been with his family you know grounding himself he has a therapist and you know he said that he knew something was off about himself but he didn't want to admit it because he didn't want to have to take meds which that stigma is still very oh my god so real baby boy so but you know he looks really happy and smiling and he looks healthy and good so just so happy for him that he's taking care of his health and all that and yeah seems to be this video said new music will be you know coming whenever he is really up to it but he's in a good space dude he does have like the biggest smile and laughing here he's so good with you i think this is part of the reason why we talk about mental health on here so much because the the i don't know it can feel very like conflicting isolating i feel like you can feel trapped sometimes when you have things going on that you can't put words to or you don't understand but you just know something is off and then when you can kind of explore it diagnose things acknowledge things there can be a freedom to it yep doesn't mean it's easy doesn't mean it's just this you know crystal stare upward definitely not i do love to see a black boy especially a black gay boy like myself smiling and laughing and kicking and talk about his family being there and and seeming to have this really optimistic attitude it makes me feel good because i was really sad over that arrest situation because i knew it was bigger than whatever thing that he did right and i felt like you know we talked about it so i actually did see this this video but i just saw somebody reporting about it this morning so i thought it was something else yeah but yes it is good news great news yes love to see that also i saw this i saw justin perform at this thing last night at taco tuesday that young is a superstar it doesn't make any sense it doesn't make he's it doesn't justin justin just okay right right right right right yeah right right right right right right yes so yeah amazing oh no you just he performed at taco tuesday but it was excellent it was room shaking everybody was up on their feet he just like an excess exceptional talent oh i love it so excited so bush queen's up 20. okay hot girl summer and butch queen summer fight me absolutely that's it for the hot tops until i figure out exactly why shamia morton is filing a cease to assist against ceaseless against angelo oh my god the housewives are such a mess bro the gift that keeps on giving that you don't want that you do not want the gift that should come with a receipt return it all right let's take a break come back with your letters we're back folks it's time to read your listener letters yes it is send your questions to ask the read at gmail.com we may read them aloud on the show our first letter this week comes from tony who says hi chris lincoln fury i'm a 32 year old licensed social worker from alabama and i work remotely for a company in a northern mostly white state a few weeks ago on a team meeting the discussion shifted from whether people who have different political beliefs can be friends or cordial with one another you already know where this is going right why would they even do this i was fresh off of a protest regarding voting rights in alabama so i immediately started to explain to this all-white team that some people don't have the privilege to not talk about their politics while this resulted in one of my co-workers saying that i'm the one who's privileged because i have a lot of coach bags oh oh is that how that works and another co-worker why people are so stupid and another co-worker saying that all races have been through things jesus leadership continued the conversation and my supervisor did nothing after i sent messages to the police saying that i'm the one who's going to be the judge and i'm the one who's going to be the judge and i'm the one who's going to be the judge and i'm the one who's going to be the judge and i'm the one who's going to be the judge and i'm the one who's going to be the judge and i'm the one who's going to be the judge This is a small company, so FMLA is not an option, but I feel like I truly cannot move past this, and I no longer want to explain to these whites that the white things they do literally impact everyone. I'm supposed to return to work next week. I have bills, so I can't crash out the way I want to, but this is a true internal battle. I want the company to know that they have failed to protect me, and I don't feel psychologically safe. Do y'all think I should just resign, or should I push through? I have other streams of income, so I really want to tell them to kiss my ass, but I also have my professional licensure, which is my real livelihood. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tony. Man. Tony, I am so sorry that an ugly-ass bitch like this would even say that. Wow. People are so, like, often stupid, often intentionally obtuse. On purpose, yep. Like, I can't fully discern what's, which is what's going on. Right, right, yeah. Because I don't know what I'm cracking. But I think that it is such an ignorant and brazen comment. It's very bold to be like, well, in fact, you are privileged because you have a number of bags from some, I don't know. Italian or French white-ass company. So tough. Like, what? What the fuck does my closet have to do with my political and social issues and ideas? Yeah. Like. Should you resign? I don't think, not in this economy. I can't encourage you to do that. That is brilliant. I can't encourage resigning with things the way they are now. And to keep it very, very real. It's going to be white people at every job. And most of them are going to say something like this, you know. Maybe if you were at a bigger company with a more robust HR, they would be like, oh, we're shutting that down immediately. But it is just, I can see where you're frustrated. Because if I'm talking about, you know, if we're talking about how some people can't afford to not be political, like they can't afford to not talk about how politics is affecting, their life. And you tell me, oh, well, you're actually privileged because you have designer bags. I'm going to want to smack the shit out of you like that. Yes. I mean, so financial privilege is a thing, but we're not talking about that. And you have no idea where these bags came from. Like they could all be gifts as far as you know. And again, you're you're you're refusing to stay on topic is like you can't just sit with the fact that you feel uncomfortable when somebody starts talking about the fact that you're not. That's the fact that there is inequality in this country. And the other bitch piping up saying, well, all races have been through things. OK, are you cool? She's going to let me address this first. Right. So, I mean, I think I would go back to work again. I mean, but it would take it takes a lot for me to leave a job. Maybe I have been thoroughly abused at work and still showed up every day with a smile. So I, I absolutely would not. I would not resign off of this, but I would stop talking to these white people about anything to do with race and race relations and politics. Like, I think I would just completely step back from any conversations that have anything to do with that, because you're not going to worry my nerves. You're not. Radically. Like, I'm talking like I'm not talking to you bitches about anything that doesn't involve my job. Right. And I suggest you don't do that. You do the exact same. Because the moment that you try to bring up whoever open for the beauty and I'm going to walk away like I'm I'm going to explicitly remove myself from any conversation that doesn't have anything to do from work. And if I'm asked, I'm going to tell you directly. It's because I don't feel safe, comfortable or interested now in talking about anything outside of work. Right. Congrats. Because there's nothing that you could. Really, in my opinion, there isn't really much that you can say. About how you're feeling, there's nothing more you can say that is going to change the outcome, because I think as Crystal was just saying, like, it has to do with these people's inability to sit with the fact that they are privileged and to. Yeah. And to sit through, acknowledge and process. Um, words, dialogue that make them uncomfortable. Yep. And it's the biggest red flag when you barely say something about about racial inequality or anything like that. And motherfuckers like, well, you have coach bags. And also what? Like, you're joking. You're joking. Meanwhile, I'm a black person in Alabama where they are literally trying to take away our voting rights. Like, I'm. I'm out here actually working for the people in this very disenfranchised, very black state and a pack of crackers in Minnesota or fucking Washington or wherever. And one of the fucking Dakotas want to test test me. Oh, my God, girl. Oh, my God. Tony, I know you was pissed, but. You know, yeah, just step back emotionally, start looking for another job if if you feel like you can't be around these people no more. But I understand you probably going to run into that. In in a lot of workplaces, maybe even most. It's an unfortunate fact. Yes. Maybe they won't say something as stupid as, well, you have some designer bags. So tough vote for what? Like so, like I said, financial privilege is a thing. But if you were financially privileged, you probably would not be a social worker who is also like who is currently employed. Like when we talk about financial privilege, we are talking about a lot more than like one hundred thousand dollars a year. Like we're not. I mean, there's so many kinds of privilege. I would have been like, yeah, I'm also able bodied. I'm also cisgender. I'm also an American. I'm also like, girl, there are a lot of privileges. But what the fuck are we talking about right now? Why don't you focus? Yeah. Oh, I would want to ring a bitch neck. Oh, my God. I would have typed the original author. Author and said, bitch, why did you even ask us this? Who started the conversation? Somebody should write this down. Yeah. But good luck with the job search, because I know you tired of these whites in particular. Yeah. All right. Our next letter comes from Fran, who says, hi, Chris Lincoln Fury. My wife, Taya, and I are queer black women raising our 16 year old daughter, Shay. My wife was a single mom for the first years. For the first seven years of Shay's life. And I made a vow to be an active parent to Shay as soon as I knew I was serious about Taya, which, to be honest, was a very short time frame after we started dating. Of course it was. As queer parents, we've always made an effort to remove shame and guilt from normal human feelings. When it comes to sex, Shay has read a number of books, watched educational videos, and we talk about the subject often because we know how we were as teens and young adults. We also have access to her phone. And we know she's been talking. We know she's been talking to some boy at school about her quote unquote fantasies. We let her know that it's OK for her to have crushes and to figure out who she likes, but to be careful with porn and that social media mess because it'll fuck up your brain. Well, last December, I was trying to take her to school and this little nigga was in the room masturbating to Twitter porn. OK. All right. Yes. In her room masturbating to Twitter porn. I didn't crash out then. Instead, we had discussions. We had conversations about the situation and reminded her that social media and porn are destructive and let her know we want her to be safe. She said, I won't do any of that no more. And we told her that she might, but we just wanted to equip her with the right resources and knowledge. We encouraged her to get involved in the school's gay student alliance, partly because we know one thing the gays will do is be real with the girlies. And we thought she could benefit from that. It's now June and I just found a condom wrapper in Shay's bathroom. Oh, boy. Yeah. Mine was racing and I was worried that she was still lying and being sneaky. Taya brought the topic of the condom up to Shay, asking her if she's sexually active. Shay was obviously embarrassed by the question, but she told us no. We offered to put her on birth control and she said, no, I'm not ready for sex. I just wanted to know what that banana condom was like. My spidey senses told me there was more to the story. I guess, you know, it was probably like a banana flavored condom. Yeah. I went to her room and found a ton of used condoms. Including one that was covering our turkey baster. Okay, you're being really. At this point, yeah. At this point, Taya and I crashed out, asking Shay questions to understand how often she was reusing condoms, why she saved them, and why she got to use our kitchen tools in her process. We ended with our usual, we love you and we want you to be safe speech, and booked her an appointment with her PCP. A couple days ago, my wife came home with a. a bag for Shay and decided to speak to me first before giving it to her. This bag included a card for us to write an apology for the way we reacted, a few stuffies that the kids are into these days, and a sex toy. When you say stuffies, that's plushy? Yeah, like stuffed animals, yeah. Oh, okay, okay. Yes, Taya wants us to gift our teenager an insertable sex toy because we are sex-positive, conscious parents and feminists and blah, blah, blah. She literally wrote blah, blah, blah. I told Taya, hell no, I'm not okay with this since our teen has not really demonstrated much maturity in communicating her thoughts and feelings about sex and continues to be sneaky, and I think this would only encourage that behavior. As a neutral party, I'm curious to get your opinion. Do you think this is an appropriate gift? Am I being an asshole? Does my wife have more say due to the fact that she carried Shay and was a single mom? What would y'all do in my situation? Thanks, friends. Fran. Fran, there's so many things I wouldn't be doing in this situation. Yeah. I fully understand the sentiment. Like, completely. Because you just want your kid to be safe and to approach their sexuality at a young age in a way that that won't be harmful mentally, physically, so on and so forth. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So it sounds like like the way that this started, this letter, it was like, we've been teens once. We know how it is. We just want her to be safe. But it also feels like as the letter was going on, you were kind of like cutting her off at every opportunity to like insert yourself and be like, "Well, this is how you do it. You sure you're doing it like this? 'Cause we can go to the doctor and I can get you some sex toys and we can get you a, what do you call the, um, what do you, a dental dam?" Oh! A dental dam. Oh, work. Um, and I mean, again, I get it, but I also remember being a teen and I can't imagine how much of this is helping or preventing her from doing whatever it is that you wanna do because most teenagers want to figure out their sexuality, not alone, but without, without being underneath their guardian's watch and stuff like that. So I do think it's complicated because I understand why you wanna be involved, but I also understand why your daughter is being, I don't wanna say sneaky, private or nervous about it 'cause she's young and she's figuring it out. It's probably embarrassing to be talking about getting caught flicking the bean to Twitter. I don't wanna talk to you about this. I'm a teenager. My hormones all over the place. I'm masturbating. Good God. Like, I get being like, we're gonna put you on birth control. Yeah, yeah. But being like, oh, we found some, with some, some condoms and we just wanna know how it's going. Yeah. I don't know. I think you kinda gotta, it's one of those things where you have to be like, A, B, C, go with God. Yes. The D is none of my business. Oh, you're cut off. Oh, you're in time out. It just happened. I couldn't stop. Fran, I, it's interesting because you're like, we're trying, we've made an effort to remove shame and guilt. You know, we're open with her. We're sex positive and feminist. But as soon as you get an inkling that this child is doing anything sexual, you kind of spiral. Like, yeah, she was, the issue with her, you know, masturbating is that she doesn't know what she's doing. You know, masturbating is more to do with, you know, like, girl, we trying to get ready to go to school and you in here flicking the bean. Like, we don't have time for that. I mean, also, you know, seeking out porn on social medias is not the greatest, but it just sounds like you, I mean, and then with the condom, the condom wrapping, she was like, well, you know, I just wanted to know what a banana condom, you know, tasted like or whatever. And then you were like, well, I, my Spidey. My Spidey senses told me to go check her room and I found a lot more condoms. And now that we know she's diddling herself on a regular basis, my wife got her a sex toy and I'm against it. Well, why? - But you're sex positive and you're feminine. - Allegedly. Why can't, it's like you don't want her to masturbate. I don't know how to tell you this. She's 16, she's horny. They, they're horny, baby. They are, it's like you, - Yeah. - You say one thing, but your actions are going to keep her. It's like, you want her to come tell you when she's horny, when she wants to touch herself, when she is having these thoughts and feelings. Like why, why would she? - Why would she do that? - I think it's great as a parent to just be like, hey, look, we ain't even saying there's anything wrong with you being sexual or having sexual desires, or even if you want to start, - Oh my God. experimenting with sex. Make sure you're on birth control. 'Cause we know how this, you know, young person should go. - Yeah. - But yeah, it feels like you're, you're like, she's, it's like you have her in surveillance. - Yes. - For every time, just in case she shows some sort of sexual interest, whether it's solo or with someone, and then you have something to say about it. - Right. - So it's less like you're sexually positive and feminist. And, - Yeah. - And, you know, welcoming to your daughter being, you know, sexual or beginning to be. And it's more like you want her to be sexual in the way that you are comfortable there. - Right, right, yes. - And what I worry is, is gonna happen is that she's just gonna be like, okay, this sex thing, I'm not doing it over there. And I will figure it out in the streets. - Yeah. - And that's what you don't want. - Right. - So I think you should back up. I would tell her, hey, keep my kitchen tools in the kitchen. I don't know what the fuck you think you're doing over here. - Right. And that's so valid. That's so valid. Just be glad she put a condom over it. 'Cause I mean, we're throwing this away and buying another one. Don't ever go in my kitchen and find something to fuck yourself with. Like I would rather you have a dildo than to pull my fucking cucumber out the ice box and be like, give me 15 minutes. Like, no. - Right. - Right. - I mean, yeah, I think there's a discrepancy between the way you say you want to raise her and the way you're acting. Like almost like you're a little too overprotective. I don't know that that's the right word, but you're kind of like doing a lot when 16 year olds do get horny. It's like parents don't want to accept this. Why do you think so many of them accidentally get pregnant? They get horny as fuck. And it sounds like y'all have absolutely taught her about safe sex, but she does want to explore her body. And that is very, very normal. It is developmentally appropriate. She's not five, acting like this. This is what teenagers do. So I'm with your wife on this. My parents would have rather died than buy me a sex toy. They would have never done that. But I don't, I mean, I'm also not a parent, but I don't really see the issue, especially if you know she's scavenging around the house looking for something. Like you want it to be the remote control next? Like the girl is having feelings. - Thanksgiving is coming up. We do not have that. - So yeah, yeah. Trust that when it comes to big things like having sex with somebody else, that you all have nurtured a safe enough environment. But again, she's not going to feel safe if y'all keep hitting the roof every time you discover anything remotely sexual about her. Like you're gonna have to give her some space to, you know, some things are private. Who at any age would go tell their parents every time they feeling horny and want to tickle the pickle? - Hello? - Nobody's doing that. Sorry, friend. I'm sorry. - Yeah. I would even with the wifey, you know, I'd allow her the sex toy. And I would also be like, okay, mommies have probably been doing a bit much. We're gonna take a break. - Yes. - We're gonna take a break. We're gonna take a step back. If you have any questions, any sort of concern, big or small, you let us know. now but put a sock or something on the desk we just gonna leave this up to you we trust you and hopefully you can trust us yes yes because it sounds like again y'all have covered the subject extensively and so you know at some point you kind of i uh yeah i'm with your wife on this and i would i'm sure it's easier said than done it's probably hard to watch a little girl that you've raised since she was seven all of a sudden turn into this young lady who is doing grown things and having grown thoughts you know i'm sure it's hard but what do you want to do what do you want to do she's a sexual being like most of us are and she is gonna explore that one way or another so yeah doesn't mean you have to be the orgy house but i'm sure not but you also don't have to be so strict and weird about it that she stops talking to y'all and feels like she needs to hide things like you said i feel like she's being sneaky and hiding stuff look at how y'all react yeah yeah i masturbate and you're like let's talk about this so what you're watching like girl get out of my face oh man okay good luck well good luck because that whole it's complicated that whole thing about porn is extremely complicated so good luck with a teenager baby um thanks yeah i mean they're rough all right right our last letter comes from somebody who said call me the buck stops here what you got buck hi chris linkin fury i've been a fan and listener since the show's inception and i love you both over the last four years i've grown close to a friend who was raised by an abusive and neglectful mother who did not equip her with basic life skills for my friend this has snowballed into a cycle of job hopping and intermittent employment homelessness and a field of toxic relationships with her and her family and her family and her family and her family and her older men i relate to this friend because our moms are very similar and we understand hardship in a way that some of some of our other friends don't but lately i've been reconsidering our relationship the past four years have been full of me providing support to her and her miss everything from emailing and making phone calls on her behalf to find her a job fighting for her not to be evicted from different apartments and being on the receiving end of her about whatever deadbeat father of six she's currently dating um this has been the basis of our friendship and our closeness only consists of her shit my advice on how to fix the shit and me loaning her money i'm tired and i'm trying to work on some personal goals of my own including saving to buy a house i'm a single mother of three and she has no kids but she still finds it acceptable to ask me for money from time to time at first i felt bad for her and saw my younger self in her and i wished i would have had someone like me in my corner when i was a little girl i was a little girl when i was a little girl i was a little girl i really needed it but with her not returning the money she borrows and every time we speak there's a new issue to stress about i see that this cycle is not one i can help her end she recently let a family member and their kids live with her for more than a year without contributing to the bills i warned her not to do this but she did it anyway now she's short on rent this family member refuses to cover the difference and her landlord is moving forward to evict i want to ask her so many questions about this situation and speak with the landlord to work something out but i'm honestly tired of coming up with game plans to pull her out of the holes that she digs for herself it's frustrating because i've seen this friend through trial after trial after trial but i don't think i can see her through this one she asked me for money the other day and i straight up lied which i feel awful about but i'm burned out my advice goes in one ear and out the other and i low-key feel like an enabler i want the best for her and i truly believe she can sustain herself i just can't be part of the journey anymore how do i explain to her and our friend group that i'm a single mother of three and i'm not a single mother of three and i'm not a single how i feel and that i want off of her personal advisory committee how do i break up with a friend who's already at rock bottom i don't want her to feel abandoned but i'm trying to save myself at this point thanks for the help buck bucky what up bucky what do you do in situations like this because it's such a like you care about the a person and you want to see them the best for them that has i think a particular like pain to it and i don't know it's like a really complicated emotion but you didn't you have have sense you can also acknowledge there ain't really much you can do right to help a person that is not interested in the help so i i think the best situations the best decision in those situations is to take a step back pray for them if that's the thing that you do or believe in and state if and when this is over you need a good cry yeah let me know but yeah it for me especially if it's a thing that we've discussed or you've discussed more than one and we've like met in the middle about it and then it happens again i probably won't say anything i mean i'm not gonna hide it and act like i'm happy but i'm not gonna revisit the same damn conversation you clearly know what you want to do um but yeah in this type of situation i think i would unfortunately and emotionally choose to mind my own damn business yeah i don't think you have to end your friendship with her i don't think it's that serious i think you just need to stop putting yourself in the position to be her savior let her feel the consequences of her decisions you're not her mom i don't know why you keep well and you said it actually that you see a lot of yourself in her so you keep trying to save her because you could use somebody like that but she is an adult and she is going to have to get her own shit together like you can't support this woman for all of her life she is not one of your kids you got three kids she's not one of them so you know you giving out money that you don't really have or that you could be using for your own goals buying a house spending on your kids things like that is something to stress out about you take on a lot of responsibility though that you don't have to do like you said she is is facing eviction now because of this situation that you warned her not to do okay so you're not going to be able to support this woman so now let her deal with the ramifications of that decision you want to ask her all these questions and get more details and talk to her landlord for what for what for what this is her problem you're burnt out and over it because you keep putting yourself in the position to save her or or fix her when that's not your job and you're not capable of doing it you're not capable of of healing whatever she has you know whatever is is hurting within her she has to do that for herself no sometimes we're the problem and we are also the solution that's the good thing about being the problem is that you are also the solution so when you said you low-key feel like an enabler i would agree with that you have absolutely enabled this um and that can be a hard pill to swallow because you look around like damn all i was trying to do to help is help but it's a thin line between help and enabling and you have crossed it many many times so i don't even think this is something you need to like explain to the friend group and i mean i would talk to her privately maybe and be like yeah as a friend you know i love you dearly and i don't want to not be your friend but i can't overstep and try to take care of you anymore i have to focus on myself and my kids in that regard so like i'm here for emotional support like friends do you know if you want to bitch sometimes about what's going on in your life like yeah that is how friends are and i'm absolutely you know we can share some guacamole and talk about how these niggas ain't shit but as far as like stepping in and trying to help take control of her life you you have to stop doing that so that's your own trauma that's your own wound um like you said um but you gotta you gotta step back in that capacity you're not her caretaker so at all and yeah it is giving mama big sister it is right it's giving like this is the big sister i never had and anytime something goes wrong i could just call her and she's gonna help me find a job and she's gonna talk to my landlord and this is this like baby do you even do all this for yourself like do you put this much effort into taking care of yourself even that's a real question so yeah i think that's i think that's what i would do i would i would i would step back so that we can be friends instead of caretaker and patient yeah right because y'all are not really friends you're you're more like a junior mom and yeah no no i'm not doing all that for you so because yeah eventually she's gonna piss you off to your highest positivity and y'all gonna fall out anyway so you might as well so true cut the shit now baby yeah that's very true yeah so but good luck to you uh miss buck stops here because that can be hard to do bucky all right that is going to wrap up our listener letters this week if you have a question for us please please send us an email babes ask the reader gmail.com we'll be right back we have returned it's time for the final segment which we call the read i'll begin because i just want to say thank you so much for watching this video i hope you enjoyed it and i'll see you next time bye i truly don't think this will take too long so this is for jd vance and his mom donald trump bye bye big fancy was on a podcast recently where he was confronted uh with his remarks uh a few years back when and he and his mom weren't uh claiming one another and he actually referred to trump as america's hitler and said he didn't believe that donald trump was intelligent wow two truths on the podcast he said right i remember this back in 2016 and in hindsight it's just so so dumb people would say that trump was dumb or that he wasn't very smart he's super smart like he reads a lot you understand girl who believes baby my baby cousins read a lot they love one another one fish two fish two fish you know they love woody cat in the hat a classic cat in the hat baby never dies what if your eggs and ham were of a green like that's everybody anyways like he reads a lot he understands people at an instinctual level better than anybody that i've ever known he's very very like from a pure iq perspective he's a very smart person he then went on to say if you give donald trump an iq test with the other 45 46 presidents that the united states has had i guarantee he'd either be near the top or at the top jd just say that he's your top he's not at the top of anybody on an intellectual level it's not true it's just never gonna happen that's never been the case are you talking about the president of the united states who last year said that they cut down drug prices by 1500 so where's our money we should be getting refunds you like that's the guy who's got the highest iq of the presidents the one who quote said you know grass has a lifetime a lifetime like people have a lifetime in the lifetime of this grass has been long gone when you look at the parks where the grass is all tired exhausted we're going to redo the grass we've got the finest grass i know all about grass this is the president with the highest iq just say he makes me cup both of his old wrinkly rotted gangrene balls in my mouth on a daily basis and call him big mama that's a humiliation why would you out go out in the streets and say something so fucking foolish and untrue it's weird it's weird it's so strange especially when most of the planet knows that the opposite is the truth like not even just americans bitch i don't know how many y'all don't like how many of you leave the country or how often you do um red hats they're laughing at us oh hard if not threatening death because the leader of our country is legitimately one of the stupidest people that's ever held a seat in any governing office it's so true he is a legitimate literal dumbass yeah and in fact i would argue that you are much smarter than him and i don't think you're you're that smart yeah so what is this what is this stop getting on my damn nerves big face i'm already mad bitch you took all that ozempic in your face the why so leave me alone i'm legitimately done i don't have nothing else to say well this speaking of dumbasses associated with trump in the white house remember when you talked about that boxer or whoever josh hoket who called michelle obama man fucking dumbass he went on a podcast and the host was like yeah so i watched that and i was just like yay josh finna talk his shit and then you opened your mouth and talked about michelle obama and i was like why did you do that and he was like this man josh hoket said well i thought i was giving her a compliment and so the podcast host was like nobody views you know calling a he was like yeah i'm saying you know like she knows how to deal with adversity she knows how to work hard she's like a man you know when times get tough she's it's just a great chance for me to talk to the whole world about how this country is great with freedom of speech and any other country you go to they might have killed me for saying that but in america you can say that and so you should have done it here and so the podcast host was like so are you like backtracking what you said are you are you trying to go back on and he was like nah one thing about me and my career you never gonna hear me go back on anything i say like if i said it i meant it blah blah okay if you said it you meant it but you expect us to believe that you thought calling michelle obama a man was a compliment and the podcast host was like he was like i just want to know why michelle obama was on your mind in that moment which fair i think most of us wanted to know that and he was just like because man you know it's america and i just freedom of speech and all i'm like oh you get hit in the eye you get hit in the head for a living right right right right right because this does not make sense it doesn't two or three weeks later you responded to all this being like well actually calling a woman a man is a compliment so it's weird that all of you are upset about it publicists hit the road you are all you got i don't know what the fuck to tell you because that is the dumbest excuse right you must think you talking to trump because who else would believe right right right trump probably told him to say that so fucking stupid i saw that and said now listen just stand on it you said what you said it was stupid as fuck you thought all your little mega assholes was gonna be cackling and agreeing with you exactly instead they all got on camera like that was weird don't know why that bitch put her hair exactly exactly exactly chris he thought maga was gonna be like fuck yeah all them niggas were like what the fuck did michelle obama have to do with this why did they bring her plucks i know he gagged he couldn't believe it he thought everybody was gonna be like yeah josh telling the truth on the white house line usc fuck yeah and instead everybody was like he made it so weird we were all having a good time because he literally said am i right america like no no you're so stupid like you're you're literally wrong you're that is a cisgender woman she's given birth twice we've seen those kids who look exactly like a combination of her and her husband the entire suggestion was beyond ridiculous it didn't warrant a response from them which is why they've paid for it you dust michelle obama said one word gravel they have real things to do michelle obama on podcast saying nigga and you know at the presidential center a big up in her man so they just didn't have they did not have time for this but i did girl stupid dumb your own people said i i don't get it i mean we were we were getting drunk and and punching each other in the dick it was a great time and then josh just wanted to make it weird and so now you done came back with something even dumber this is even even dumber and then to be like well you know me i don't backtrack on nothing bitch so then what are we doing so if if it's i have to watch this because you're making it sound like that whole sprite like i have to know he did he absolutely did he was like so you know it's the ariel helwani show okay um and you know i don't think this this is probably not a good person either but he definitely he definitely was like why'd you make it weird bro and this nigga's outside in his mirrored aviators you know red face he probably i don't know on a boat or something just like yeah no i think he's like half dead no shade if it's such a compliment why didn't you call melania a man right since it's so nice is your mom a man being the first lady in ages what condos does josh hogan have a wife is your wife a man is this a gay relationship that you're in like it's just so weird to try to walk it back by like right you either say yeah i said it i just thought them hoes was gonna be with me and they ain't or you apologize for it but this weird is actually a compliment so you bitches should stop being mad that's what's not gonna fly yeah yeah fg you you it yeah yeah that brain that's the fuck you get bitch that gray matter looking real thin up there i know it is i know if they took pictures of your brain it would just be holes just spots all over the place bitch because who thought that made sense also january 6th it's giving you were at you were storming january 6th because homie okay you maga yes you're getting to do your job at the white house with job of the hut there that wasn't good and you won your fight right that wasn't good enough you also had to make some fake attempt at a political statement and everybody paid you right right right everybody paid you the worst people humiliating that's what you get bitch shane gillis like i wouldn't have said it seems weird right shane gillis outside walking to his car like that shit was weird we were having fun uh and uh speaking of people who are now regretful for the things they did if you remember last week i talked about the dog that lapd shot and killed because his owner was having a good time right um so the neighbor who called the police spoke with eyewitness news abc7 out there in los angeles and asked not to be identified out of fear for their safety so they you know i bet bitch so they're blurry the voice has changed but you can tell this is a caucasian and they said i just feel so bad i feel responsible for what happened i'm so sorry i never wanted anything bad to happen i thought i was doing the right thing and when i heard her screaming i i was yelling out to her balcony and i called over several times and i kept saying are you okay and she didn't answer me she just kept on screaming because the new york knicks who she's been waiting her whole life to see win a championship just won a fucking championship ain't nobody thinking about you anyway anyway so you know the neighbors like i i've i've had experience with domestic violence incidents before and so i just that when the police came they were so hostile and they were banging on the door and i was like that's what i'm gonna do i'm gonna do this i'm gonna do this i'm that's not how a wellness check should go and and then they i i heard the barking and they said put your dog away and then the dog barked again and then they let out five fucking gunshots and this person's like oh you know i just think this has taught me not to trust lapd and next time i'll probably just go check on my neighbor myself instead of calling and marie i'm so sorry i thought i was doing the right thing and i never imagined this would happen and i feel so guilty and shameful and i wish i could tell you this in person but i'm scared you should be you should be remain frightened because what i said last week about having a list and you and the bitch that shot my dog is at the top of it i meant that shit and so of course the abc7 reached out to the attorney and the attorney said our focus is on the events that resulted in the death of this dog and i'm scared you should be you should be you should be you should be you should be we are waiting for lapd to acknowledge this use of deadly force for no fucking reason and to be transparent about their investigation etc etc basically like don't nobody have time for your white tears and white fragility and i wish i could tell you this in person but i'm scared not as scared as i was to see my fucking dog get gunned down right in front of my face in the middle of what should have been an extremely joyous moment you talk about i feel so bad i hope you do i hope you not as scared as i was having five six white armed police show up banging on my door while i'm watching the next one yeah yeah right fucking done so of course it was a white person who just decided that they were going to call the law and is now like i guess the police aren't the right response for every situation that isn't how a wellness check should go you live in los angeles you you do you know nothing about the state of this country do you know nothing about the police do you know nothing about racism no like you because they don't have to care well i guess in the future i'll just go knock on my neighbor's door you won't have too much of a future fucking with me but i'm a i'm not marie and you should know that i'm not marie should be glad about that i would i would love to say this to your face but i'm scared yeah because i'm don't don't come don't come knocking on my door now saying how bad you feel when you could have came and knocked on my door then if you really felt a fucking way about it and i'm sorry i don't give a fuck if you're not a sportsman every fucking body knew that the knicks were in the finals and how big of a deal it was everybody knew that so i'm not a sportsman i'm not a sportsman so i don't buy it i don't fuck up did you hear her scream help help he's stabbing me help he's trying to kill me like did you hear anything like that or did you just hear yelling and you thought too much of that nigga not too much with your black joy and called the cops and now you got and i'm sure you feel bad because they shot the dog and and not your neighbor i'm sure you didn't want the dog to die we're on pacific island we're on pacific island we're on pacific island we're on pacific time too the new york knicks did not win at 2 a.m come on this is a normal time of day are you okay it's like a 8 p.m it's 8 p.m over there come on bro come on like yeah i just yeah you wouldn't have to knock on my door bitch you did you should be better focused on moving far far right right you should be contacting um the building and asking can you get let out of your lease because you need to get the fuck away from me talking about i'm not a sportsman i'm not a i i can't be on camera because i'm i'm afraid of my safety and i've seen a lot of death threats online yeah yeah yes i don't know they mean it somebody sent me a clip from this podcast called the reed and that lady said that she would hunt me down and kill everybody in my family execution style before she took my life and like yes bitch i lady am a sissy because both of us hate your living guts bitch and i wish you nothing yeah so stay anonymous cracker because it's that's your ass but i'm sure marie knows who you are if i were you right move if i were you i would move do it right now it's it's for the best you got my baby had on a knicks jersey come on a fucking dude my baby was murdered wearing the jersey of our favorite team there wouldn't be enough bloodshed no i'm so like i there really would not there really would not there would not be enough bloodshed that is correct you fucking tried it you fuck your reed are two white people with dumb ass unnecessary excuses both we don't want to hear that shit whitey right you did what you did you said what you said i just feel so bad now who knew that police would respond this way anybody who's been paying even one ounce of attention to what is happening in america since 2020 i'll even say 2020 although it's been since america but baby right have have you not been around even like have you okay all right my grandma got a tiktok so bitch you don't have no excuses i know you see us let's see shut up like i know you do right you're trying to walk it back now and who would have thought lapd would react like that anybody would have functioning right anyone who's heard anybody anybody you heard of the riots have you heard of like any of the historical lapd shit what the fuck are you talking about and you know it really grinds my gears crystal now that i think about it if they would have shot that woman and not the dog that lady wouldn't be on tv absolutely that person is one because they couldn't imagine the police would have shot the dog right that's what i'm saying i i think they would feel less bad if the police had killed the woman. They're probably like, well, who's to know what you're doing in there? I heard yells. Okay. Did you hear someone specifically in distress, though? Because I'm just saying, people tend to say, help! Help! You know, okay, let me shut up before somebody in my building thinks I need some help. But, yeah, you really shit the bed on this one. And no amount of anonymous, tearful apologies are going to make it better. Girl, fuck yourself. And did you call 911? Probably. Because unless it is, like, you shouldn't call 911 for a noise complaint. Yeah. Unless it is, like, very clear or you have high, certain suspicions that there is a crime happening. Yeah, it wasn't a noise complaint. It was a wellness check. Oh. Okay. So, I don't know if they dialed the emergency number or not. But either way, you asked for the police to come through. And that was ridiculous. Why would I call the police before I tried knocking on her goddamn door? Hello. Why would I do that? Hello. Why would I do that? Are you scared of your black neighbors? Hmm. That's interesting. Whoever you are, I hope you have heard this podcast. I hope, you know, but I hope. I want them to start with each of your toes. Clip them right on off. I'm talking about. Oh, Lord. Yeah. I hope you get waterboarded with sunny delight. I hate you, bitch. Yeah, you deserve to suffer for this. So, you talking about how bad you feel? Not bad enough. Not as bad as the person whose dog is now dead because. Hello. Partly because of you. In no insignificant way. Because of you. So, yeah. Sit with that. And hopefully, I mean, anyway, I could go on and on. And I'd want to be. Truly. I could keep going. Because I just keep thinking Marie's son, the one she was on FaceTime with, was saying, you know, the dog is adventurous. She's full of energy. And, you know, she's playful and all that. But she's not violent. Right. And I'm like, that is Lainey. She acts like Lainey is so excited to see. People, she would have been so excited to see even the cops. So. I went to my homie's house last, this past weekend. And he has, I'm pretty sure she's a pit. Like a, like a light tan, like a light brown, sandy color pit. And when I came in, she was jumping up, jumping up. And he was like, sit, stop, don't do that. And I was like, no, she got all the hugs she want. And I was just like, come here. Good girl. Show happy, show happy, show nice. Okay, I squetch, I squetch. And I'm Liz like. But, you know, you know me, you know, we love dogs. And I, especially pit bulls, sometimes pit bulls or larger dogs can frighten people. Especially people who are just afraid of dogs, period. Right. But pits, pits are, they're so sweet, friendly dogs. And they get a bad rap. Either way, I know dogs, many dogs. Yeah. To be excited when they see. Yeah. Yeah. Especially new faces. Hey, hello. Welcome to the, to the function. I'm Jameson. Who are you? Don't worry. I'll get a sniff, sniff. Okay. Like. Welcome to my crib. Especially since he was only two. Like. Right. Jameson was like, we're up. Mixing five. Aren't you hype too? And. A two year old doodle man. Like. A two year old dog. God. A puppy still. God. God. Ugh. So, yeah, we're gonna continue to pray for the family, um, and that they get their millions from the city of Los Angeles sooner than later. Um, and yeah, white people and their bullshit excuses for the, for the absolute havoc that they cause. It's over for that. You're, it's quiet for you. And that is going to wrap up this week's episode of The Read. Check us out on social media. At This Is The Read, our website is thisistheread.com. It was a fun, shady time. Always enjoy his humor and delightful, uh, facial expressions. Also, I want to give a shout out to Stevie Mackey and everybody from Taco Tuesday for having me, uh, host last night for BET Awards Week. I bombed on an epic level. I mean, I sucked. Oh, I'm sure you didn't. I'm sure you didn't. I, I've never wanted so badly to put both of my feet into my mouth. Oh, no. And then gobble up my own body from the bottom up. I was so, and it's like, oh, what a room to not be funny in. There's Gabby the Union. Here's Robin Thede. Oh, Dochi. Hello. I'm alleged comedian. So sorry. I was just like. Oh, bombing's hot. But anyways, it was still a really good time. It was a really beautiful room to be in. I was very, very honored, uh, to be a part of it and to be asked to host. And again, everybody was so great. Justin, uh, I wish I were, somebody has it on video. It was like butch queen church. I really can't, I, uh, I can't wait for his Grammys and his Academy Awards that year. And I was like, listen, this butch queen might've, might've flopped, but at least somebody held it up for the community. Shout out. To the dogs. I'm sure it was not. And, um, yeah, a couple of people told me like, you're overreacting. Yeah. Not bad. Yeah. But I said, well, you know, with comedy, great comedy, what happens is that people usually laugh. So thank you for your kind words. Yo. It happens. You can go to patreon.com slash give fear also for more of me. We're going back to watching movies and shit and you can go get some exclusive from new podcasts. I think that's it. Okay. That also, what you just said reminded me that I did see La Cage au Folle this past week, which is if you know the movie, the birdcage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, it's the French play that that movie is based off of. And so, uh, yes, this is a re-imagining at the New York city center with Wayne Brady playing Robin Williams and Billy Porter playing. And it is so. So good. If you're in New York, go see it. It is on a very limited run. It closes June 28th, which is in just a few days. So if you get the chance, go see it. It is so, so good. They only had 10 days. They only had 10 days to get the production together. I think they call it a stage musical stage something. So they are, they do have, um, at points there are like scripts on stage, but it really does not take away, um, a lot. Oh, okay. I know what you mean. Yes, but it is, so it's an all black revival. It's so, so, so, so, so, so good. Go see it. If you are in the city, you only have a few more days, but it is so good. Uh, I just watched the birdcage like two weeks ago. Yes. And, and this is, so this is different. I prefer this version of it because it feels like Robin Williams character actually likes his partner more. Like, okay. It just feels like. Billy Porter's character in this, in this imagining of the story actually likes, or Wayne Brady likes Billy Porter's character more than in the movie, but there are some differences. Of course, this is, this is more based off of the play, but go, yes, if you are in the city and you have the chance, go see it. It's at New York city center and it's so, so good. I hope it gets picked up and, and, you know, transferred to Broadway or whatever the theater words are for that. Cause it is excellent. So shout out to the entire cast. Y'all did that sang down, baby. Billy Porter sang up, up, down. It's good. Oh my goodness. If y'all go see that, please write it and tell us what you thought and how you felt about it. Yes. It's so, so good. It's like a, um, it's got some modern twists cause you know, the original is quite old, but very, oh, I can't recommend it enough. Go see it. I loved it. Could not believe how well done it is. How well done it was, especially considering they had 10 days to get that show together. It is. It is. It is. So yes, uh, to, to the entire cast, I have to give y'all your flowers. It was just, I love the theater. I love New York. Oh, mom, Donnie's up a million, billion, trillion. A million. At this point, just build a wall. Like, at this point. - Build a wall around the city. - To keep the rustic on. thousand percent because we're having a great time over here it just sounds like it's the blast up there it is it is all right y'all take care of yourselves we will see you next week and don't forget we met beyonce she hugged us we have matching outfits on um i know many of you have framed the photo and are telling your your children that i guess we're related to jesus or whatever so yes just a quick reminder beyonce is friends with us that did happen and mama tina did crystal's hair so happy pride oh bye y'all
