Brad Williams

In this podcast episode, comedian Brad Williams joins the host for a candid conversation about his life with dwarfism. Williams, known for his sunny disposition, discusses the unique challenges he faces, such as being physically picked up by strangers—a dangerous situation that has resulted in three broken noses. He explains that while dwarfism is a disability, he avoids comparing himself to those with more severe conditions, and he navigates a world where it's socially acceptable to mock or violate little people. In comedy, he notes that his stature is initially an advantage for visibility but can become a limitation, as audiences and bookers often expect only short jokes. He uses it strategically, sometimes as a "crutch" to end bits, but insists his material extends beyond that. Williams also opens up about his personal life, including a deep-seated fear that average-sized partners might only be interested in him for fetishistic reasons, a belief reinforced by family and peers. Through therapy, he realized this insecurity manifests as a need for constant approval, which his wife addresses through acts of service. A poignant segment covers his daughter, who also has dwarfism; he felt immense guilt for passing it on but was reassured that he's the best person to guide her. Ultimately, Williams expresses gratitude for his career and family, emphasizing that while life has difficulties, he's fortunate and thriving.

guys my get i'm looking up and down if you're listening my guest today is uh he's a great comic he's got uh a bunch of specials on youtube the newest one is called live on short street he's on tour now called the international tall tales tour uh are you noticing a pattern in these titles guys he is a little person what if you're listening that sounded like a little that's how a little person would react are you a dwarf yeah oh so he's can i call you dwarf yeah he's a dwarf yeah i got the word way funnier yeah dwarf is funnier than a little person so much funnier yeah and midgets funnier than both of them it really is yep i can say it yep thank you um that's no further question um the uh and his name is brad williams ladies and gentlemen brad williams he's he didn't have any blocks when he came in and i told him right and he gave me two i i did not know i was supposed to do i know what i know um i was not told but but i but i listened to the show i really enjoyed the uh episode with kevin nealon and uh he didn't really have that many blocks he had some yeah he had some good ones but like but like i've got some trauma if you need some look there's a lot of complaining on here sure that's unjustified yes and when no bigger no bigger perp than me right i'm the king of the unjustified complaint okay now you've always had a really sunny disposition yeah and um i say sunny because he's the size of my son guys i'm sitting i'm gonna they're gonna come up it's natural it's like this is like pause on uh on on cameron's podcast they go pause i'm gonna say pause but for dwarf little little person joke um i love them they're funny they're fun they're literally fun yeah they're they're fun to do the only dwarf jokes that like like i'm that i'm bothered by are the ones that are just too simple and too easy yeah uh if anyone says like a like if i post a video and they're like ah that joke came up short i'm like uh oh i've never heard method man said that to me yes that's right i'm gonna try to drop more names in this podcast than you not possible you gotta wake up early in the morning i did a rap battle against nikki glazer on a show called drop the mic on tbs talk show all about sex looking at her it's obvious why it wasn't a success and method man was the judge and uh he said brad that rap came up short and did it get loud did it get loud did it get loud did it get loud did it get laughs yeah of course it did you came up a little short brad i don't like it that is everyone's like i know get her done with me like they can just say that and they know that the crowd the crowd will explode do you consider a disability yeah i do but in in the in the sort of spectrum of disability like i don't see someone with muscular dystrophy or cystic fibrosis and go hey man same yeah i know how it is like i don't do that i'm not like it it it is this it is a disability because there are certain things that are harder for me to do physically than someone who does not have dwarfism yeah but i mean i did a podcast one time i'm gonna drop another name with the uh wrestler the big show and he's over seven feet tall and ironically you're over two unnamed method man okay i'll give you method man yeah i got you all right but uh uh he and i actually had like we did a podcast together and we actually have a lot of the same issues you and big show yeah like he's seven foot two i'm four foot yeah but clothes really hard to find uh cars really hard to fit in yeah uh now you might think oh brad on an airplane you have plenty of room but my legs are dangling that sucks they fall they fall asleep i have to wear uh compression socks so i don't like clot you know that's really see that's okay this is what's interesting because we had a conversation one time montreal i remember this we were talking about drinking and safety yeah and you told me something about your own personal safety that i it's it's it's riveting to me please repeat it yeah and that is and i'll sell ads against it go ahead sure when i'm out and i'm drinking i'm really cautious around drunk people because i know that they look at me and immediately they want to pick me up yes it was it was similar it was like it was we were talking about like dressing women dressing too sexy or whatever blaming the victim but whatever sure but there was something in like you said you don't on saturday nights on the road you will not drink i go i go right back to the hotel because you you truly like have to get off the street yeah because there's picking up there's tossing there's stuff like that that people just think yeah he's at a bar he's probably the entertainment it's okay you know like and that is something that i do live with is that uh there's a there's certain fears that other people don't even realize and certain struggles that people don't even realize i'm not saying my life is horrible just saying that was just one of those things of like you don't know you go oh someone's like the same way uh a comic i take with me frequently on the road is a great comedian her name is sarah keller and i we were doing a show and then i walked her to her car and then she she just looked at me and goes thank you for walking me to my car and i'm like what do you mean she's like it's terrifying i'm like what every time she's like yeah every time yeah checking into hotel rooms for her when when you know she's an attractive woman when she goes down the hallway she always looks behind her to check and make sure no one's no guy is following her to her hotel room and that that was one of those moments for me where i was like holy i never even considered that yeah never even thought of a woman having to go through that now the crazy part is she pulled away and a guy came and picked you up she was protecting me she was fine she's long gone she doesn't even know what happened until she listens to this um a guy tossed you in the bushes yeah and it was a good talk it was a heave it was a real heave it was an arch on that thing um and did you did yeah like so so obviously that must have happened well what happened uh at some point meaning you you stopped you realized like wait a minute yeah i mean i've been picked up before and that was always something i get like furious hearing about it yeah like what do you okay tell me what it's like i mean it it is all control being completely taken away whereas someone lifts me if i don't know you and you're lifting me up why are you lifting me up yeah are you lifting me up to put me on a bar stool because you think that's what i'm trying to do are you going to put me on the bar are you are you going to spike me like a football are you trying to see how far you're going to throw me are you going to toss me to your friend i have no idea what's happening and in many cases i i can't control it so i've literally broken three noses in my life because of other people because as soon as you start lifting me i throw my head back as hard as i can and that is my like armadillo curling up into a ball sort of self-defense mechanism and i yeah so i've popped three noses which is a great feeling do they do they drop you yes and then they blame me right but do they drop you do are you cool are you far well you're pretty high up yeah like the times that that's happened it was like they were lifting me but when they drop me it's like okay my legs are under me but the but the other reason why i'm terrified of this is i have a friend who who is a little person where he got picked up and a guy literally started like running with him to i don't know show another friend and then while he was with him tripped and fell and landed on my buddy and uh he had a really rough go for a while and still has problems to this day because of that so i'm a guy picking it up yeah i'm i'm so mad yeah and that's part of the it's something that as a little person you live with kind of like um asians have to live with this whole like model minority thing where everyone kind of like white people kind of look at them it's like oh well you're the gold standard and and some of them are only 20th in their class it's embarrassing um and then little people have to live with like oh we're the disability that it's completely acceptable to make fun of and physically violate in some cases so and that's like that's something that you have to live with and deal with it's the reason why i say i don't fear death i fear the jokes that are made about my death because however i die it's going to be funny like however you can't name a death that's not funny if a dwarf is involved like i mean lung cancer don't know it's not the death it's he was just a little hurt I mean come on no it's the hurts yeah it's the casket it's the I mean there's way it's the you bet you got your another box yeah and you wait for another couple dwarfs to die you can get you can go half on the gravesite you know I mean I mean look it's after the death yeah that but yeah you'll be gone yeah exactly so that's something I have to live with now there as I tell people when so I've had people ask me like now in comedy is dwarfism an advantage and I and I always give them this answer I go at first yes because you get noticed yes you stand out and when people are trying to book a show and they don't just want white guy white guy white guy white guy white guy like oh let's throw in a little person that counts as that counts as our my yeah that counts as our my minority for the show yeah so it's good at first but then it's bad later because then a lot of people think oh that's all you are you're just you're just the dwarf that comes out and make short jokes and yeah you know that's it and it's like well no I can do more than that I have more material it's not just about dwarfism but for a lot of people if I tell like one dwarf joke in an hour they'd be like ah you see yeah there it is there's the crutch and it's like well I'm doing it cuz well I mean do you kind of have to acknowledge it yes I do you try to do you have a I'll do one up front and then there is a philosophy of surprising with a tag later yeah like let's get it over with let's get a let's do a rapid fire in the beginning and then I can get in other topics and then now I will fully admit that I use it as a crutch if I don't know how to end a joke right where I'm like oh I have this good premise but it doesn't tiny crunch I need Tim's crutch and yeah then I will say I that I use it then but it's uh you're not proud of it no and I'm and also I don't know how to write jokes from the perspective of a six-foot tall man I only know how to write jokes from my perspective yeah so it's like it's gonna come up pros find the right flooring for the job and Lowe's newly redesigned flooring showroom shop our expanded assortment of trusted brands and get up to 35% off style selections stain master and stain master pet protect special order carpet and while you're here save $100 on the DeWalt 20 volt max 6 amp hour 2 pack of batteries now just 179 dollars get more of what you need faster and save more where it counts from the ground up our best lineup is here at Lowe's about the rate 26 while supplies last lectures by location yeah I don't I mean any it's like I've heard people go if you weren't X you'd have no way I've heard it about every single yeah the fat comics are like oh you only make fat jokes it's like it's like but we you talk about who you are as a person on on stage you talk about being vegan on stage I don't go to you and go well if you just ate meat you have no act it's it's getting there if you were just conservative you would have me know again I'll tell you what this mom Donnie like being like every other mayor in New York but with a grocery store so well what did when you're a kid were your high school friends what was everybody always pretty nice yeah yeah I was everybody's buddy like yeah people assume that I had a really traumatic childhood because I'm a cop because I'm a comic or whatever and I also have dwarfism it's like no I did really cool childhood yeah great parents and friends that were there for me and like but I would always make the first joke and then everyone all right he's cool and then it was fine I had a great childhood great friends so I wasn't like now I wasn't getting laid all the time I was everybody's buddy but and that's when I was like oh I mean you know what that's not necessarily dwarfism yeah there were five foot and ten guys yeah I put eleven six feet I could get two different heights of guys that weren't getting away yeah that's not this high school that yeah that's just high school there was there was one guy in every school that was just getting tons of pussy yeah and we all thought well that's the standard yes and and to that guy from my high school Tony shout out I went to Catholic school so it was it was a priest the okay so but you know you're not especially prone to self-pity no no my my my dad wouldn't let me wait what was his were your parents dwarfs no okay parents are not dwarfs but my dad before the internet yeah when you could look up how do I come with dwarfs hair it's not even easy it's fun my son is a YouTube what okay so they were like where are you the only child there's two kids my sister is also average size so like and I'm the only dwarf in the entire extended family like we looked we like we we we hired a private and we did this we asked relatives like were there any worth of it and nothing and it so but it is a recessive gene so it can kind of hang on for a bit it is also a genetic genetic mutation so sometimes it could pop up and lucky me here we go and okay but my dad raised me with a net with an attitude of do not feel sorry for yourself and also that people if you if he's kind of a indirectly a weird kind of like buddhist thought where he's like if you are feeling sorry for yourself people will feel sorry for you but if you don't then they won't like it it's kind of this thing where you project what you want and he's like if you're just down the dumps and saying oh oh woe is me your life is going to be shit but if you're out there and you're like positive and you show people that all the all the fun that you can't have in the life that you can't live it's gonna be fun it's good you know what's funny there are people that want people to feel sorry for themselves yeah because i kind of sorry for you because i kind of think i was one or like something sure empathy pity whatever but so that's that's a interesting point of view and did you did you fight him on it were you like but come on there were times there were moments you know we all have our low you don't get it we all have our low points which is weird a dwarf saying that uh but yeah we all have times where we're like oh man this sucks but kind of to your perspective yeah there was a five foot five guy in five foot eight guy in high school that wasn't getting laid yeah everyone's got something that they had to deal with that and my dad did something really cool is when he found out that i was going to be a little person uh he would start going to these lpa little people of america meetings uh just and just sitting there and just listening and just are they like 12 step meetings no but they're they're like meetings and there's some group there's some help groups but there's a lot of organizational stuff and like putting together activities and he would and he would talk to little people afterward and uh he told me that at one meeting he just stood up at the end and said hey all you guys are just talking about how crappy your life is um i have a son yeah he's a little person what am i going to tell him in terms of like can i can i have something good and one of them if they loved it yeah one of the little people came up to him and said yeah everyone remembers you and so everyone's trying to stand out everyone's trying to be memorable and your kid's gonna have that now that that's a double-edged sword in itself because it's one of the reasons why i can't commit crimes everyone remembers yeah uh but um yeah but that was and he would tell me that and i'd be like oh yeah okay everyone everyone remembers me and getting into comedy that was really helpful because well that's what i was gonna say did you obviously you're funny so you and you you wanted to be in comedy yeah from whatever age right yeah and then and then well is there a temptation to does it feel like you're limited as a as a dwarf does it feel like i'm limited to obviously i mean there's like the thing you go well i'm not gonna be one of sanders helps like i just flatly refuse at at first there's a ton of it's only fans for yeah it's only fans it really is uh at first there was definitely that thing of i'll do anything like i'll do anything to do hollywood if you want me to be the leprechaun okay you want me to be whatever um and then uh i've been on a lot of other podcasts talking shit about pierre dinklage but i will say something about really great about him is that he really showed that you could draw that line in the sand and like what's shit talking is there uh he said a thing on marin's podcast which kind of led to disney taking dwarves out of the snow white the live action story and kind of i yeah but i bet his intentions were decent hopefully and my whole thing was with him is that he didn't want dwarves but then he was in the movie tiptoes which is the most offensive movie to little people ever made so it's like okay - Okay. You can't get in the door. You made the money. Yeah, you can't get in the door and then close it for everybody else. Pull up a tiny ladder. Guys, they're – I'd be dishonest. It would be malpractice to not make these jokes. So I have talked shit about him in that way. But at the same time, he really revolutionized the acting world for little people. Well, that's – Dinklage is, to me, he's a bit of like a Sidney Poitier, right? Oh, that's what I'm saying. In terms of like he didn't – he wasn't a stereotype. He wasn't like he's an angry – he's just like a person. Yeah. And because some people bring up the elf scene. Does Santa know that you left the workshop? You know, we're all laughing our heads off. But even in that scene, he's the badass. So it's like he ran – he dropkicks Will Ferrell like – He's the guy getting offended rightfully and bragging about all the pussy that he gets. So it's like, okay, he even showed in that role that – he can be a badass. And when he did SNL, he went in the writer's room on the first day and said, no dwarf sketches, no dwarf jokes. You know, whether I agree with that or not, I respect him for it. Yeah. So, I mean, so he kind of showed that, oh, we don't have to be just – The funny thing is I'm sure there were three or four that were fucking hilarious. Oh, are you kidding me? That were hilarious. The SNL room? Yeah. They have a dwarf host? Yeah. They're like, here we go. But again, they're not going to do the hacky ones. They're going to do like decent. Yeah, you got like – Good writers. Yeah, you got really great writers and those kind of Harvard funny guys that will think of the – I don't even think it's Harvard guys anymore. No? Jost, I think, is the only one. Oh, okay. Hopefully he'll catch a break one day. We all pray for that man. Yeah, pray for Jost. But – All right. So I've been in New York. No. And you try to have some standards about, like, you, you're not going to accept, you're not going to accept, like, half a life. You're not going to, I mean, like, you're not going to accept, like, the, the, the, it's what I call doing the dishes. You're not going to accept, like, no, you can put, yeah, like, your, your wife is, is tall. Yes. I did it. Yeah. I mean, that's right there. Hanging up. Okay. So, so, you've got, you, you meet her and would she, you dated? Did you date little people and, and, and regular people? I dated little people for a long time, A, they, they said yes. Is it, is it a bit of a, is there a thing like black men dating white women? Yes. Is it, so there is a bit of, like, don't sell out. Yes. There absolutely is. It's human beings. Yeah, man. It, it's, it's weird because, and. Did you feel that way about women, about, about little women? So I was told. Not the. Not the book. Not the book and not the two recent, not the Greta Gerwig remake and the one from the '90s. And, and. Winona Ryder. And not the reality show. Little People Big World? No, there was a, there was, there was a reality show called Little Women LA, Little Women New York. I dated two cast members. Did they, was that a come up? Is it like. You, they were like, they are the finest or are they just the most bipolar alcoholic? Because it's a reality show. There, there was a part of me when I was dating dwarf women that I was saying, like, I have to have the most attractive. Yeah. Dwarf woman. And. Talking about a trophy wife. Yeah. Literal. She could model, no, she, she, she was literally the model for the trophy wife. Yeah. Right. One to one. Yeah. And so I, I dated dwarf women and it was great because I was also told by both my family and by, and by other little people that like, no, no, no, you, you date a dwarf because if a tall woman is into you, it's because of either like money or a, or a fetish or something like that. So you can't, you can't go there. You can't trust them. Yeah. Cause that's not gonna happen. So they're like, they're a tourist. Yes. And that, that weighed on me. Yeah. That weighed on me a lot. Like. Did it weigh on your choices or weighed on you'd be with a tall woman and be like, man, I don't trust her. It, it, it, it was that I didn't trust for a long time. Like I would look at tall women like, okay, I'll date them, but I'm gonna eventually marry a little person. That's fascinating. Yeah. Were, were you right? Or were they, did they, would they spend a lot of time trying to convince you that like, I'm here for the right reasons? Yes. Yes. It was very, it was very bachelor. I'm here for the right reasons. It was where, and the, and many of them were to be fair. The right reason. Yeah. And, uh, it, it just didn't work out for whatever reason. But then, uh, it wasn't because I was a little person and so that, but it took me a long time and someone say, I'm, uh, I'm, I'm still not over that. Like I'm in, it's kind of the reason I'm also a comedian. You need that constant positive reinforcement, like, and I've, and I've told my wife this, I go, I, you have to. Compliment me like a lot, like, and you have fast. You have to come with my looks because a lot, I'm a, why? the lack of like if something goes wrong in my relationships with average-sized women I immediately think okay here we go the bloom is off the rose like they now see me for as just a dwarf as not attractive what's the thing that goes wrong oh just common fights it's like not even like just so if you just have a if you have a uh argument about like you were late or she was late yeah or whatever you then go to it's because i'm a dwarf yeah it's not healthy i go to therapy why is that that's really interesting yeah that's that's maybe the most interesting block we've ever had yes i that's that's really interesting yeah so you why tell me what's the therapist say therapist has told me because many things in my life have been because i am a little person where with negative things yeah many many negative things so it is also because i could get a standing ovation at a theater i get i i could come off stage kiss my beautiful wife and be walking back to that hotel and someone will see me and just go fucking midget and it's right back down right back down because i'm like yep that's all i am that's all i ever will be i cannot be anything more than that and i'm like i'm not gonna be anything more than that and i'm not gonna be anything more than that like dude we we had to leave a birthday party that my daughter was at i left because there was a kid that just was following me going you're so little oh my god you're not even a man you're so little he uh she called me uh not real dad and she and and like just like following me around and i was like i gotta get out of here and i i left the party because it's like i i i can't and so so it's like i'm not a real dad i'm not a real dad i'm not a real dad it's like in my head i go no matter what i achieve no matter what i do it's always going to be but you're just a little person so in my relationships that also uh comes up a lot where it's like when there's when there's a rocky road where there's a disagreement it's like it's because i'm a little person and and you're going to leave and that's i'm i'm dealing with that now my wife has been with me for eight years i think she's good yeah i tell myself all the time i go i think she does love me because yeah oh yeah two beer i'll trust it i say that i think she does love me because it's like if she leaves today she gets a house uh some money i know yeah well that's the other thing is is i mean dude it's everybody's got i mean and not like i'm telling you that you don't know but like everything everybody's got some i'm just uh yeah whether it's good or bad yeah do you know what i mean like whether it's it's there's always reasons to not trust people oh yeah like even when you become super famous and admired and adored now now it's like oh they don't like michael jordan says oh they only like me because i'm michael jordan yeah oh so that's how you don't play it not because i'm an actual person so it's like meanwhile you want people to like you because you're michael jordan you know what i mean like that's the thing about like oh you only like me it's like you spent all of your time practicing basketball yes now you're mad at me because i'm aware of it and in awe yeah yeah so if you like me just because i'm funny cool yeah i'm all about that yeah because i've worked really hard at that yeah so that's like validating like i said i am working on it that that is what they call a breakthrough we had in therapy where it was just like i was better help promo code neil is that one of your sponsors yes i'm not sure if it is hopefully this week come on but uh it really did like we took a while to get there but once we got there i was like holy crap now all this makes sense it's so funny where that's the funny thing about therapy it's like you didn't know that yeah everything in therapy is like you know what it might be this thing you know i got molested and they're like i don't think it's that though and then you keep digging for and then you come back yeah oh yeah i think i think yeah i think i think i've been thinking about it it might have been my parents divorced no it can't be that no my dad punched me in the face and saying it's my fault probably not probably not that i think it's because i have a roommate um but uh because i'm too good looking yeah that that's what it is do you so when you told your wife was she like no kidding uh because i'm i'm curious as the knee i don't i don't think i'm needy in my relationship in that way like i don't need i'm like i'm never gonna say like do you think i'm funny i'm not gonna like yeah i'm i just i've got like too much pride i have like calm hacky comedian pride where i'm like i'm not gonna be so much a hacky comedian in like i'm not gonna be i'm i refuse to be like a hack in the relationship like do you think i'm fun yeah or or the hacky guy like you fucking more like i'm just not i just refuse yeah but what did you what did so do you need a lot of you so you need a lot of approval yeah i need a lot of approval and uh and it sounds cheesy but a lot of it was like my wife would say that she gives me approval because she cooks for me right yeah and like and like does a lot of things for the business for me and does so many things for me and uh it's that whole like love language thing where i'm like oh you making me dinner was you saying you love what you meant yeah which once again like therapy it's like that should be very obvious yeah but you don't see it at the time and i'm like okay well my thing is like i i never feel attractive so you if you literally give me a hug hold my hand just as you walk by like run your fingers across the back of my neck like that's gonna be that's my thing where i go that'll be incidental half the time i mean you're just walking i mean would it kill you literally the least you can do yeah yeah yeah yeah uh and did you did you know that uh at the beginning uh in terms of what i needed yeah no i did not were you mad uh where or were you would fight start and you'd real and it was about that or like unsatisfied yeah like fights would start and then it's a it it sounds once again it sounds cheesy as hell but it is amazing what you discover when you actually talk stuff out i'm i've never yelled in a fight i i don't i i feel like once you start yelling the other person will shut down and not really hear you so even when i'm furious like i do not yell so we would have these i think it wakes them up you didn't aggressive somebody's irish your your turn to camera nothing greater your turn to camera is your ron white's sip the whiskey i believe it's just the punchline of every joke it's it's a it's a nice one um it's the it's it's well i mean it is funny like shutting down you're that's what the point is you're trying to annihilate them well i i know you don't want to that's not the point of my fights i know yeah but what is the point of your fights to to be heard got it to to get like hey i felt this way this is why were you cl were you always that way yeah got it but you didn't know i mean the thing with with like if you need more compliments it is a bit of like a do you go like ah i'm sorry could you give me one more or is it it would just sort of like it would just sort of manifest it in other ways it it it would it would be like other ways but what what i what i just discovered is and and that's kind of what we talked about is when when i would talk stuff out she would list all the ways like no but i did this i i did xyz which is how i say i love you and i was like oh oh okay i didn't see i didn't it's also if you're not i think we we assume everyone's like us you always assume that you're normal as everyone else is normal a thief always assumes everyone's a thief yeah so it's like that's whatever you like you assume that's what the other person likes and were you covering her with compliments oh yeah she's going like where is it jay now just imagine wait it up yeah because that's because that because that's my thing and for hers it's the whole acts of service yeah so like for me to say i love you to her in a way that makes her feel more fulfilled is for me to do and take things off her list like her list of things to do like is to like don't worry i already walked the dogs like i wake up at 6 a.m every morning and i'm like oh my god i'm gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna be i go downstairs i make her coffee i make the lunch for the kid and then like that's my way of right all right here's a few things off of your list that i can do yeah that and then i write because that's the only time the house is quiet but yeah um were you always doing that was that always your schedule and that's yeah i was always an early an early guy yeah it was weird okay so so you figure that out that's really interesting because because it and have you i've never revealed that on podcast thank you i have you made it now do you need it less and you just go like do can you convert acts of service into a compliment now that i'm aware of what that sort of language is to her for her she can do something and like she can be really stressed out and still be like oh i have to make brad dinner and then making dinner i'm like thank you yeah that's really sweet of you yeah that you took time to do that so yeah i can see that now i still gotta work on it but i i i see it better that thing about i'll always just be at work it's like yeah really it's heavy yeah it's it's it's heavy it's obviously like i'll always just be a what black i mean the list is yeah whatever whatever it is and and and the thing is is i i i know that i can't do that but it's hard because it manifests itself in other ways like if i don't get it a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a i know that i know that i can do that but it's hard because it's like it manifests itself in other ways like if i don't get a a show if i don't get a a certain thing if i don't work i if i don't get a part if i don't get this certain accolade in the business it's like ah it's because well i mean if i may because that's how they view me if i may it it's a good cover as somebody who like if i don't get something it's because like they don't think i'm funny which is for that's way worse worse yeah you know what i mean like all that well in a way not i can't but yeah like but at least it's not uh a recessive gene ah yes my father was funny his father was funny it is a recessive gene but but then the but the non-funny just popped up in me no yeah but that is a if you it that's the the silver lining like there is an upside it is just like it is like ah they don't like because i'm black and it's like no you're an asshole yeah or they don't like it's like they don't they're there there's many things about different people that they can lean on yeah in terms of why people don't like them but that's that's what i love most about doing comedy is especially being a little person who wanted to be in short in show business like that was he said he made that i did said short yes i did that was a freudian slip who was quite short as well um i have no idea i just said that to fit the joke uh but like when you're an actor to me that's so many so many hurdles have to be crossed by other people like other people have to allow you in they have they have to give you the part yeah they have to get they have like so many things have to happen for you to succeed that are completely on on other people we all know people who have gotten cast in shows that then get canceled after a week when it's like they thought that that was the thing yeah they finally finally did it and then it's gone so what i love about stand-up is is that it's it's just me it's fair it's it's terrifyingly fair yeah if you bombed that was you yeah that was your fault yeah and you have to you have to figure that out is there a thing where it's like you know i'm i keep using black as an analogy right yeah this and club shea shea are the blackest podcasts i have done hello um brad williams i made it i made it to the close there is a thing where it's like again i'm not black i'm oj i'm not black i'm oj you can uh supersede it or you can transcend it is there a thing in your head that if you do x you'll no longer be a little person and i know that sounds insane but do you know what i mean like is there or or is it just like this is you finally accept it on this podcast yeah uh i'm leaning more towards the accept it because i know for a fact that if i got if i won especially because you know what's gonna happen after you die yeah jokes lots of jokes uh if if i won the the academy award for best actor right you know in a part that was not written for a dwarf that i beat out average size actors to get i know that i would get that oscar be like hell yes this is awesome and then at the after party uh someone would somebody's gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna say something yeah someone's gonna say something fucked up and that's just so it's more of the acceptance and i also look at i look at what i've been able to do uh in my career and go like well i didn't have that model that taught me to do this as a little person like if you look there have been great dwarf comics but uh like i'll throw out uh tany lee davis uh who had her name on the comedy store before me um but like i look i look around like there wasn't a a little person selling out theaters yeah doing stand-up comedy yeah like so i'm kind of i'm kind of making my way without that guide right now yeah and it is really interesting because now there's other little people out there that'll write me and say that they're getting into comedy and because they're like oh yeah oh brad can do it and the cool part about stand-up another cool part other than it being just just is that as a dwarf actor i'm saying the lines that an average size writer wrote and the director directed and the producer like it's their perspective not mine right comedy it's all me i'm the writer i'm the producer i'm the director i will take the audience where i want them to go i will give them the message that i want to give them it is my it is my job to convey that message right that's the part i love the most what i what i'm as your therapist what i'm i would take you hoping for is it's the it's like the the the thing about like when you get it's like i don't even agree with this but people said like the getting offended by the n-word it's like it gives the person it gives so much power away it becomes like a magic word and whether it's whether it's mid whatever yeah something fucked up about you mm-hmm i and maybe i'm it's easy for me to say uh because i'm uh such a handsome white man but but uh is there a way that you can just get it take it out of the take it off the table i there probably isn't but i'm but i want it for you i'm like yeah like it doesn't pros find the right flooring for the job and lowes newly redesigned flooring showroom shop our expanded assortment of trusted brands and get up to 35 off style selections stain master and stain master pet protect special order carpet and while you're here save 100 dollars on a dewalt 20 volt max six amp hour two pack of batteries now just 179 dollars get more of what you need faster and save more where it counts from the ground up our best lineup is here at lowes valve through 826 while supplies last selection varies by location uh you know i mean like and it's funny because we're kind of we're kind of analyzing each other you are definitely a helper where like and you empathize and right now you're like how can i help yeah brad how can i make this happen yeah and the thing is is i don't like yeah you are guys you are and the the truth of the matter is i don't think it can at least not for a while or or there has to be more dwarf comedians or more little people in the public eye like dinklage is starting to right but he really is statistically how many are there one in every 38 000 births so i don't know divide that i'm not sure so he's not autistic no it's just heck of a way to find out no the uh that's not very many yeah the ism i have is just dwarfism that's just not that that's not that many yeah i'm should i look at well whatever so i guess it's to to to the point i just wish it didn't bug you yeah i of course it i mean i'm bugged by everything so like i can't it's you know it's to the point where it's like i'm a lot of people's only dwarf friend so and for a lot of people that watch me do stand up i'm the first i'm the i'm the the the first interaction they've had with a little person other than like watching dinklage in a movie or watching oompa loompas or whatever so it's like it's like a lot of things where it's just exposure yeah it's just getting people out there and having people like i had thoughts about certain people before i met them and then you meet them you're like oh i was way off with this like you know so whether it be gay culture whether it be black culture would be any minority it's just being around them more often to where you can go oh i was yeah way wrong it's they're just boring like everybody else yeah it's boring and stupid like everybody except the mexicans they are not boring oh man they are so fun they bring fireworks um the parties i mean forget it they're um okay all right yeah i mean i i guess yeah i guess there's no so it's like that's your that's your that's gonna be your block for for kind of forever and like yeah unless that's my lowercase t to bear yeah i thought of it um the uh the yeah and and has gotten better yeah it's gotten better because because you know what because you know what yeah and and has gotten better because because you know what it's it's that ruins everything yeah it can you can let that ruin everything anything any anything and everything so it is getting better uh in terms of the career now that i've been doing this 22 years and having other comedians when i show up to clubs and like not like give me respect but like give me compliments and give me respect yeah and uh i i remember on the rogan podcast it was they were they were doing it was joe uh shane gillis ari and mark norman they're doing protect our parks and they said who's a comic that no one wants to follow and ari said brad williams yeah oh yeah i was gonna say that in your intro like and that like i've told ari how much that compliment meant to me and uh the fact that because i look at all four of those guys as really really great comics and they all agree they weren't like nah they're like yeah i see yeah so that like stuff like that really does help and i and i go holy crap i'm i'm doing it like i yeah dude i gotta say i mean i not it's an advantage without being a crutch i like that that's what it's because it is like be a writer because i when i'm on i used to be uh don't make me again um the the because the it's you can you can make the audience you can catalyze a room which is and it's your obviously your spirit but it's like it's part your our bodies are part of it yeah you know what i mean so so i again if you can go like it's an advantage without being like you're a hack because that is one of your things as a imposter yeah One of the fathers of the, one of the godfathers of the modern psychedelic, psychoactive mental health movement. There's a, okay. I've mentioned this before. I ordered from this company before they under, they had a different name and I ordered and then they came on as a sponsor. I guess did I manifest them? I it's possible. It's so they, they are basically like legal mushrooms, right? It's it's called Amanita Muscaria, AKA the red mushroom. Seen it your whole life. You assume it was either deadly or like a super Mario cart thing. It's neither psychoactive, not psychedelic. There's no visuals. There's no ego dissolution. I mean, but it's not all bad. No, you it's, you don't want to be out of your mind, but you want to be calmer. This one works on your GABA receptors, which is the thing that, you know, helps you moderate your mood. And your thought process, uh, calm, focused headspace flow state, and it's legal. They have a website. You go on the, you it's all above board. It's fantastic. I've done it. I've take, I done a bunch of the, the first time I ordered, and then I've done two of these and they were both great. It's the thing you take it and then you just forget. And you're like, Oh, I had a good day. Your girl goes, why are you, how was your day? You're like, Oh, it was good. It was like, you know, you're not screaming at people. You're not screaming at people. You're not honking. You're not sticking your head out the window, screaming at people. It's good. It's like what you want from one of these mushies as they're known in the biz, like the, the mushroom space, the Amanita mushroom space, especially is full of like nonsense. Aman Tara. That's the name of the company. Aman Tara. Amen. Tara is a, like the legit version lab tested, clean source, transparent, no synthetic analogs, 50,000 plus customers. I'm one of them. You'll just, it's a nice low hum. They call it nature's wine. Aman Tara.com. Aman Tara.com slash go slash Neil. Guys, you know that I wear clothing, right? Here's two things. I like, I like, I like clothes. I like stuff that looks, I'm trying to avoid being insulted. That's my biggest thing. And I like a bargain. And lately, uh, Quince has been my go-to. I've heard about him on podcast. And then I finally got engaged with them myself. And, uh, I brought them into the fold. Here's the thing about Quince. They have like good spring, summer stuff. Good looking. One hundred percent. European linen shorts and shirts from $34 lightweight, breathable, and comfortable, but still look put together and clean. One hundred percent Pima cotton tees with a softness that has to be felt to be believed. Uh, their pants also at the same balance, relaxed and comfortable, but still polished enough to wear pretty much anywhere. Everything is priced 50 to 80% less than what you'd find at similar brands. Quince works directly with ethical factories and cuts out the middleman. So you're getting, you're getting, you're getting, you're getting, you're getting premium materials without the markup. It's really, it really is good. It's soft. It's good. I'll, I'm going to send will videos and pictures. He'll post them here again. And they have the price. Cause you look at the price. It was literally like the first time I went out, I was like, are these prices wrong? Cause they do have the line through what they would normally charge. And so I thought it was sale. Everything has a line through it. It's all basically sale prices, refresher every day with luxury. You'll actually use head to quince.com slash any AL for free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. That's good. Now available in Canada too. That's Q U I N C E.com slash any AL for free shipping and 365 day returns quince.com slash Neil. Cause that is one of your things is a imposter syndrome. Yeah. Um, yeah. Cause, cause I always have the same, like when I do a meet and greet and whenever, uh, when, whenever a fan comes up and says like, you're my favorite comedian, I go, ah, you have horrible tasting. Yeah, no, it's embarrassing. It is embarrassing. Cause, cause I look at other comics. I go, well, that, that's good. Yeah. That's really great. I'm just talking about my life. Like that's boring as shit. But then, you know, you, you, you get people that you make laugh and, uh, uh, who were in a really bad place and who really needed that laugh. And that helps you go, Oh, maybe, maybe him. Yeah. I mean, I can't, I think you see it as an advantage, but yeah, but it, it can, it, if you could get 50, 50 on it. Well, and one thing that I, one thing that I've realized is that the, the audience, I see dwarfism, the audience sees whatever their thing is as the dwarfism. So like if, cause, and that's the thing one thing you find out doing stand-up is so many things that you think are just yours yeah only yours yeah are relatable to so many people like i get so who's in your audience it's it's it's a melting pot yeah it it is a melting pot thank you club shea shea uh it is amazing how popular that podcast is did it help with tickets it was ridiculous that's great it was awesome you just did it like a month ago yeah like and you literally saw the right you really saw the spike uh but it it it is um my audience is mixed like there are because i'm doing theaters so they're not really they let in everybody in terms of uh they don't like they let in kids so like 12 year olds will come up yeah yeah 12 12 year olds be like you're my favorite comedian i'm like yeah and i'm always looking at the parents like what are you doing yeah uh but then and then there'll be eight-year-old people you know uh women men black white like the whole thing it like it's really because everyone sees my dwarfism as whatever their it's theirs it's their sexism it's their racism it's their what right disability their whatever yeah so it's like that has that has also helped me in terms of hey dumbass you're not you're not so fucking special that only you are dealing with this thing there's a term that i heard in uh from the aa community which is terminally unique which is what which is so great it's so devastating like yeah you're not so terminally unique you think like only i go through this yeah we're all we're all the star in our own movie so we all think it's like oh it's all about us and then you talk to other people for two seconds and you go holy crap yeah you had to deal with that yeah you know like i i can only imagine yeah so yeah it's um it's been uh in doing now the theaters where people are now seeking me out and not just like any comedian any comedian like hey we're going to do this we're going to do this we're going to go we're going to go to the comedy club who who's playing whoever yeah like now that people are like no we're going to go see brad williams i'm really i'm really seeing what the comedy is doing for the audience yeah and and i use that word intentionally doing for them yeah and i go holy shit okay okay this is this is something here yeah yeah stop saying it it's nauseating and pretentious i might cut it i might do your favorite cut it up every dwarf reference no no no okay there i'm doubling those up i'm going to come back after you do extra add more uh the doing for the audience yes even i'm as pretentious as i am three mike's guys like this is a this is a big block yeah i thought we had a bigger one but this might be bigger yeah okay so i remember when your wife was pregnant and you didn't know if your daughter was going to be uh tall or yeah a dwarf yeah and when you're here for the reveal yes uh my daughter is also a little person she's six years old she has a chondroplastic dwarfism just like me and uh yeah so uh and we found that out while still pregnant uh and when we found out my my my boy is that she's a little person and she's a little person because of me and that was just an insane amount of guilt that i had going oh my god i have passed this on like the insane amount of guilt knowing that i've succeeded i've done it i've i've had a great life and holy crap i won and now it's like now she's got to do that as a little person and she's she's a little person because of me and that was insane amount of guilt and knowing that whatever struggles complications that were dwarf related like she had a she had to have a surgery uh at age two where they had to uh it's spinal decompression where they opened up uh her head was too tight around her spine so they had to open it up and like i'm sitting there going that's yeah i did that to her yeah and that's that wasn't that that's an insane amount of guilt yeah that's that's uh that's oh i would find that pretty close to unbearable yeah now you can't do anything about it right but other than just slowly eat your eat your insides well i had two people in my life um and and i've told him this but i haven't said this publicly so i'll i'll uh scoop yeah uh jensen carp do you know who he is yeah i was doing a morning radio show with him and i'm i said this off air that like you know i'm feeling this guilt because she's a little person and then he looked at me and was like yeah but who better to teach a dwarf than you yeah and i was like holy and then i i i had said that to my wife as well and she's like yeah who better than you like you're the guy yeah like they're in you're one of the top four yeah i'm one of the top uh like when when and my wife told me where she goes there's there's everyone's born and is going through this life like not quite knowing what's going to happen she has the road map in in front of her because of you so she's like there will always be dwarves in this world whether we had a kid or not yeah our our kids the luckiest one so yeah uh jensen and my wife big shout out to them because they they really helped me with that what were the odds uh one in four yeah i mean so so okay so you like you knew go it that's the thing about kids is you it's you can't like a kid going in for surgery yeah is if you're going to surgery you're like just shoot me up yeah whatever chop me up you're the parent um you're the parent and they're little and it's like this is really hard to deal with and that's the you forget that they're a person and that they're gonna be able to deal with it yeah it's it and when i think about it in terms of there's so many parents out there that their kid has whatever condition and they don't know about it yeah they don't know i i could have had a child with some sort of condition that i was completely unaware of and then and then had to learn on the fly this is one where i'm like oh i've got the cheek well you've got you've got the cheat codes you've got a lot of the equipment yeah legitimately like you don't have to buy stools all around the house name your name your stool uh colors heights yeah yeah sweetheart we got you but it is also you you're having a great life yeah so it's not i and and again i'm sure little people have the exact same amount of hardship and the last uh the exact same amount of misery and yeah heartache and all that stuff difficulty and this is just your it's just like that's what you get and it's like mine yeah and it's hers yeah yeah and it's hers and i bet it's one of these things where she's not gonna be mad right yeah yeah yeah i'm sure she's gonna be nowhere near as mad as you felt guilty yes and uh how did you that'll be true square it with your wife because because that that must have been well because she knew she knew having a child with me that this was a possibility yeah and and that's what and that's one of the things is that helped me so much is how positive she was and how like yeah this is no big deal because she was leaning on me like she's like if i had a dwarf child and i was with an average-sized person i wouldn't know what to do but you're here yeah i know what to do yeah so it's fine you'll know what to do we can help and that i cannot tell you how much that helped me that how much that that kind of brought me out of oh my god i i have an advantage with this parenting thing like yeah in in terms of setting my daughter up and uh and then she has a person to look at who looks like her who has been successful who figured it out in a world where there wasn't a lot before that for them to look at and and and by the way that goes for almost any little person that goes into any businesses there's not a lot of standards for them for them to look at so yeah that helped out an insane amount i i it will still creep in every now and then if she has a a dwarf related problem like uh as simple as potty training and pulling up her pants so like she's got to get over that big dump truck in the back that we all have dwarfs have big asses yeah oh yeah and like i'm like looking at her get trying to get her pants up like ah that's me like that's my booty yeah and uh so like but why while we're here why are they so big uh dwarf asses yeah uh you want the fun reason or the not fun let's do both I mean, fun reason is because we're just thick with two C's. Great. Not fun reason is that we have a curved spine at the bottom. I love it. Don't tell me which is fun and which is. I decide which one is more fun. And you're not. My answer may shock you. Yeah, a juicy ass being that the spine looks like the J in juicy. Like it just curves up. I'm going to start yelling at tall women like, damn, girl, you look like you got a curved spine. Oh, I thought you were going to say you look like you have a dwarf ass. I mean. It's weird. That's one of those things where they'll go, huh? Like they'll think it's an insult. No, no. It's a compliment. And then you got to bring up a bunch of dwarves. Exhibit A. Do you, okay. Where does the, how's the compliments? With that in mind, like does she, does your wife have to like assuage your guilt a lot or like sort of soothe your, your, uh, my fault? Well, that's kind of what partners do right for each other. Like she's, she, she, she has her blocks, right? The, the, the, the, if you were on this podcast that we could talk about and I've got mine and, and what a good partner does is that you be there for your, for your partner when they are going through those times and you help them either overcome or deal. Or, uh, gain perspective on. And, uh, she's definitely done that with me. I, I hope I've done that with her. And, uh, yeah. So yeah, we're all, we're, we're, we're both helping each other out. And do, um, I mean, any parent can relate to, if your kid's got a bad temper, you're like, and it's you, you know, it's you. You know what I mean? Like, and again, not to belittle it, but like, I didn't even give it a full look. That's the next to her name. I didn't. I belittle it to her. Um, uh, thanks. You're welcome. Um, copyright Neil Brennan. Uh, the, yeah, I mean, I, it does. That's just what, it's funny cause it is such a clear. Yeah. Genetic thing. But like, she's got my dwarfism. She's got my wife's stubbornness. My, my wife apologizes to me all the time. Cause she was stubborn as hell as a kid. And she's like, oh, like she, when we go through stuff with our, with, uh, with our daughter, she'll just like, my wife will roll her eyes and go, that's me. Yeah. That's me in there. Yeah. And, and, and so that happens when you have genetics is fascinating. Yeah. It literally passes down. I, I can't explain this one. Why? When, uh, when I was on a Disney cruise with my wife and kid not working, uh, I saw the look. I saw the look. You gave. You think. Snow white. What? Who? I've never even seen it. Um, we, we, there was some arts and crafts thing, but it, but it was being done in a room that had a stage on it. And literally right when we walk in, my daughter looks at the stage, her eyes get wide, runs up to it and then starts dancing and singing. She's four. Yeah. Yeah. Why did she do that? And then, and then it was funny cause then she all like, like, daddy, come dance with me. And then I went on stage and, and then I just pictured the people in the audience going, wait, is that Brett Williams? Like, but, uh, yeah, like she is attracted to the stage. She, we've got her little karaoke machine. She loves hearing the sound of her own voice into, into a microphone. Like I didn't teach that. I didn't try to, it's just, that's what she's drawn to. So yeah, your kids are going to be. Even at age, age four broken. No, that's interesting. That's your spine. Jesus, Brett. Jesus. Fucking bring it down. Yeah. Boy, that's, that's, uh, this is, this is as, as, uh, this gave me everything I wanted in terms of interesting it, but it is such a clear, will you ever, do you ever think you'll have a normal, uh, feeling? About her dwarfism as your wife has about her temper or her stubbornness? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, yes, I do because I feel like it's due. The thing is it's due. It's your, you have a great brain. You have it like you have. I'm okay. I'm fine. I, uh, I, I've lived a healthy life. You know, I've been successful. I've had friends, I've had normal social activities that I've been able to do. You know, I got, I got into, I got into college. Like, so this is all laid out in front of her where she can do that as well. And the one thing, one thing I'll have is, uh, I will know when she is using dwarfism as an excuse and when she isn't. Whereas in a way that your dad didn't, you think he did not like, cause give me an example because I'm well for him, it could never be. An excuse there, there like dwarfism could never be an excuse. He would not allow me to use it as an excuse for my mom. It was the exact opposite. It was the excuse for everything, but like, like to the point where you had to be like, mom, yeah, it's fine. I got to be on a math test. That's not because of dwarfism, by the way, that's what you do when you kill. And you're like, yeah, but I'm just, but, and, and I'm not going to lie. When I was, uh, when I was a kid, I would definitely use it as an excuse sometimes. And, uh, and now I'll, I'll know with her, like, no, that's not, that's not an excuse that, that dwarfism didn't stop you from X, Y, Z, like you could do that. So yeah, I'll, I'll be able to tell that where as an average sized person wouldn't. Yeah. What are the limitations? Meaning obviously like sports and stuff, but like what culturally, but even sports you find a way, like, yeah, I'm not going to be the quarterback, but I, I played a hundred years of hockey as a kid. I wrestled like I, I, I ruined so many relationships that sons had with their dads because when I beat someone in wrestling, it was never the same at home for them. I never lived it down. Go sleep in the dog house. Yeah. Like, like, uh, yeah. So, and I was, and I was a good hockey player, so like, I know that you just kind of, you know, I, I don't know what the limitations are because as soon as I say one, someone will prove me wrong. No, I, I obviously you couldn't play in the NHL. Sure. I'm assuming. Yeah. What I'm saying, not you, but anyone, um, uh, what I'm, what I'm wondering about, like, what are the real adult disadvantages, uh, clearly just renting cars, uh, that's a disadvantage for me. I mean, you got to sign. Yeah. I mean, it's not worth it for, yeah. I'm full. It's not even, it's not, uh, yeah, there's that there's obviously finding clothes, uh, that look adult and that you can wear that, uh, make you look like an adult. That's that's sometimes difficult, um, with doctors. A lot of times there's stuff where it's like, Hey doc, uh, throw out your book. I'm a dwarf. It's different. And like, there was one time. Uh, are there, are there doctors that like, no more like, like, so you, and you probably gets around in the community of like this guy's yeah, that we pass those names around like crazy. Yeah. So like, uh, like I remember one time I got an, I was having some back pain and I got a back x-ray and then the guy called me and it was, it was like, no, no, your spine's fine. Like it's, it's okay. And then there was a pause. He goes, there is. Yeah. So, um, your spine and your body is severely disproportionate to your limbs and the bones in your limbs. And then I go, how old are you? This was two years ago. And I go and I go, I go over the phone, I go, cause I went to a service that sent the x-ray to a doctor. He's just looking at the x-ray and he's like, what the fuck? Yeah. And I go, did they tell you? Did they tell you? I, I'm going to counter plastic dwarf and you just heard a guy go, well fuck me on the phone. Yeah. So like sometimes there there's that where you have to tell him like, yeah, I'm a, it's different. Like when this is the first time I'm hearing about it. Yeah. Like when you have to tell this, this never happened to us, but I've heard numerous stories of pediatricians showing size charts. Like your child is unhealthy. And it's like dwarf. And they know the pediatrician knows their door, but they're like, Hey, what's going on? This guy's behind schedule. Yeah, exactly. And, uh, that, that has happened. It sounds insane. But it's not, no one's dying as a result. I'm assuming, uh, uh, not of my type of dwarfism. Uh, there are types of dwarfism out there that have lower mortality rates. Okay. Okay. But that's, that would be like, I'd put that under like genetic predisp, but what I'm wondering in terms of disadvantages uh there's we have a slower metabolism so we have a we're more prone to weight gain oh interesting uh uh and that is so what's a healthy how much do you weigh and how much how many calories a day are you supposed to all right i don't know what the calorie count is but i weigh like i fluctuate between 120 and 130 right now that could probably go down i could probably get that a little lower but uh i'm okay but like yeah there's and then all the problems that come with obesity happen then if if you become that so but we're a little more prone to it pros find the right flooring for the job and lowe's newly redesigned flooring showroom shop our expanded assortment of like it's just oh that's interesting yeah i i i i do pilates now because it's eat because it's easier on the joints okay is that are your joints like always an issue joints are usually an issue uh back neck hips uh my left hip is starting to get i'll probably need a new one uh over the next five years uh so yeah there are parts that are bad but like to your point it's not like oh no my hip and then the next day dead like that's not happening yeah and again i'm not not to belittle uh um the but it is interesting in terms of what i'm almost doing this so you hear it like i mean again it's hard not to feel sorry it's hard not to look at life as like how you're being screwed especially as comedians or maybe we're like this to begin with and that's why yeah that's kind of our job yeah it's to look at the world in terms of how in terms of how we're being screwed um but yeah it it it it is like that where it's uh uh i know that um but yeah it it is like that where it's uh uh i know that looking and as i'm as i'm aging looking and as i'm as i'm aging i look around at my friends and i'm seeing that they're going i look around at my friends and i'm seeing that they're going through stuff too some a lot worse through stuff too some a lot worse than me and by the way do you guys after 55 start to get smaller than me and by the way do you guys after 55 start to get smaller because oh yeah oh is that true like because oh yeah oh is that true like the the way that what a cruel trick i i've been a former the way that what a cruel trick i i've been a former how much more do you need from it yeah yeah how much more do you need from it yeah yeah and do you yeah because after 55 you're like oh my god and do you yeah because after 55 you're like oh my god yeah because after 55 you get like a i think it's an inch yeah because after 55 you get like a i think it's an inch shorter every five years i've heard oh god shorter every five years i've heard oh god okay i that's i'm sure i'm wrong about that but there is okay i that's i'm sure i'm wrong about that but there is it might be 65 yeah but it's it is cruel it might be 65 yeah but it's it is cruel that you guys get it too yeah yeah yeah no everybody gets that you guys get it too yeah yeah yeah no everybody gets it it's fine yeah there but i mean there's it it's fine yeah there but i mean there's there's there's definitely stuff we deal with there's some there's there's definitely stuff we deal with there's some uh there's some sleep apnea stuff that i definitely have to deal with and that you got the cpap not yet and that's my problem i gotta get it yeah uh that that's that's come up in the last like two years so yeah there's stuff like that where if you don't address it and because like the way our heads are uh uh the air the airway is there's less room there there's actually less room uh despite having a bigger head go figure uh so like my daughter has also had some respiratory issues that we're addressing she's gonna be okay yeah it's very easily taken care of but yeah so i gotta get on that but it it it's like anything just stay on it like don't yeah don't just see it and be like yeah well that better fix itself like no you have to go and talk to someone get a pill get a surgery get it looked at do whatever therapies you got to do to help so yeah it's it's life i know i will i know that's the that's the bottom it it sucks for everybody at some point like it's just a matter of how much yeah you know so and if you're able to deal with it and if you're able to address it so i'm very thankful that i'm in a position where i can deal with these things and address them and as a comedian uh we could take time off we could just be like oh i'm just not gonna tour and i'm gonna address this i'm i'm taking this summer off i haven't had three months off in since i was in high school yeah so i'm and i'm taking it off to uh be with my family and to finally do things and go to doctors and be like hey i haven't seen you in eight years but i'm 42 now and i should probably go every year now like that's just a thing you got to start doing yeah you gotta actually take care of yourself yeah that's what's great about being in your 40s you have to spend all your vacation at the doctor all right well we're all lucky that i just a good reminder that we're all lucky yeah i mean you know who's been really great with that kind of perspective and i never thought it would come from him is uh jimmy carr yeah jimmy carr recently this podcast is jimmy's idea it is yeah he was like you must you must do this but you should really yeah jimmy he's in my he's my algorithm all the time and one one i just saw recently he's like look at he's like a hundred years ago people didn't have hot showers like for the for the most part yeah most people have hot showers now yep like you're you got you got a good life endless i'm constantly he's getting he may be getting him from it yeah but like you wouldn't expect it from me either but like we are all lucky yes even if it seems like we're not we you still are yes and i look at like i like i look at the uh like the parent teacher conferences that i go to now for my kids she's six years old and they and they give us printouts yeah of like all right here's your fine motor here's we got to work on here's where yeah here's your social here's where i'm like holy crap yeah like we know this stuff now yeah we're getting better at this now we didn't have that when we were growing up and we were in school and and and in terms of the medical stuff with dwarfism we're a lot better now than we were even when i was born uh so yeah i'm feeling very lucky very very fortunate i got a life we talked about those you know the blocks on this podcast but at the same time i don't want people to think that i go home and just like why yeah like that's not me yeah i i sometimes yell that out but in the other way if it's like how did i get Summary:
