Bears All-In Simmons Trade w/ Damien Woody, Plus Big Wos Defends Jaylen Brown

The episode features a deep dive into NFL and NBA analytics, centered around the Chicago Bears’ significant trade of two first-round picks for defensive standout Jeffrey Simmons. The hosts argue that the move reflects a bold commitment to defensive excellence and positions the Bears as a top contender in the NFC North, especially with quarterback Caleb Williams showing improved consistency. The discussion contrasts this with the controversial Sauce Gardner trade, highlighting risks in trading future picks for players in unstable or underdeveloped systems. A detailed NFC North ranking is proposed, with the Bears leading due to their balanced offense and defense, followed by Detroit, Minnesota, and Green Bay. The panel also touches on NBA dynamics, particularly the New York Knicks’ roster stability and defensive strength, and questions whether teams like OKC would trade their core player Jalen Williams, emphasizing player relationships and organizational culture over pure analytics. The episode concludes with a promotional segment for Draft Kings, which is positioned as a full-spectrum sports platform offering exclusive betting incentives, including three months of NBA League Pass for new users and a $200 bonus. The tone is analytical yet personal, blending commentary on player performance, team strategy, and the human elements of sports organization.

We have huge breaking news in the NFL and we are thrilled that we have booked our guy Damien Woody, our first time, our visit with our guy here in this NFL season and want to let all of our listeners and viewers know the OG football show. And this is the definition of the OG football show. We've got Damien Woody, Trey Wingo, Markslayer and Merrill Hodg getting the gang back together. So happy to see you man. Yeah man same here man's been too long. Yeah all right so let's just start off the top. I had a bunch of things planned but one of my favorite players in the NFL now for years Jeffrey Simmons Detackle you can put him really wherever you want even though he's the detackle body type traded to the Bears for two first round picks your thoughts. That's a massive trade man. Massive trade give up two first round picks for a premium player just tells me Chicago Bears are all in. You don't make that move unless you feel like we're ready as a team to you know make a move like that. So I look at Chicago Bears is one of the two or three teams in the NFC that can that can absolutely represent the NFC in the through bowl and to be able to add a player of this caliber on that defense is huge. I mean because you just don't find many players like Jeffrey Simmons a guy that both you know can stop the run and give you that past Russian presence in a middle of your defense. So kudos to the Chicago Bears for pushing their chips all in. Yeah when I first saw it like I love this guy okay even when they were bad he was showing up to work every week well they've been bad for a while here and then you watch him you just this game record he plays mean which I love at that position you know I want you guys up front to be mean dudes and so even though 29 I'm like two first detacle like God I love this guy but it's that a little pricey there's probably two parts of that the Bears go hey we're going to be good with Caleb looms here for a while maybe not the end of the world although the coach probably thought that and the sus gardener trade but he's also under contract he signed an extension recently in the numbers average out it's like four for one on nine so you know it's a lot of money but it's not some staggering number and now you're not dealing it plug and play detacles if he's even close to this in the next couple years they probably feel like hey we've solved a major major problem up front yeah I mean listen if you're Chicago Bears you probably feel in like we're going to be one of the better teams in the in the national football league so whatever those first round picks are they're going to be lower and I want the distinction now made between this and the sus gardener trade is the difference is the quarterback like Caleb Williams you know the quarterback you know Caleb Williams wanted best quarterbacks in the national football league where sus gardener is a cornerback that you know although it's a premium position he's a guy that doesn't he doesn't have his hands on the ball so that that to me is a is a huge differentiator in between these trades but again I commend Ben Johnson and the whole Chicago Bears organization for making a massive move like this and pushing their chips all the way in yeah I think you brought up a really good point in comparison of the sauce thing which is look terrible because he hasn't even been the same player that he's been with the Jets and that's a little beyond my pace scale of like hey the way they're using him versus the way the Jets use number two different things so that doesn't make a ton of sense it reminds me a little bit of the non the awesome off thing where like he was one of my favorite corners they're bringing to Philadelphia you're asking them to do something entirely different you're like hey what happened this guy that we spent all this money on that's not fair of the player but there may be a rule and kind of what you're alluding to here is that if you're not settled at quarterback don't be trading future firsts for positional players because you could come back looking at these picks going you know that's what these NBA teams do all the time they think they're going to be good for a four or five year stretch we're like hey we're probably trading picks here in the 20s maybe we get burnt once odds are that's not going to happen the colds lesson should be if it's a complete question mark first a quarterback let's not be given away picks two three years from now they can completely burn us and that's what it's looking like it's going to happen on that deal yeah I may listen Daniel Jones was you know when Daniel Jones was playing early last year you know for about the first eight or nine games he looked like a MVP type of guy then he sustained the injury and everything kind of you know win a ride for the Indianapolis Colts and so that that trade that sauce garden trade is looking like one of the worst trades in the history of the national football league but I think in this case with Chicago because of Caleb Williams because of big Johnson and and and that offense and their style of play that they have on offense where they're the one of the best Russian teams in the league this trade this trade makes a lot more sense than what Indianapolis did last year if we stay in the NFC then we did this earlier with Mike Tyson this week Mike Tyson that's his dad Nate Tyson Mike Tyson's not been on the show Nate who joins me every Monday we'll get a kick out of that we're like ranked the NFC North teams and every way you do it you feel stupid so I still don't feel good about it he had Vikings third who are the one seed and undefeated that's not normal I think I had you just because of the defense and the wreck I'm like I have to have them second so the Bears of the hot team everybody's gonna now do that with the Simmons edition if you had to rank the NFC North in order how would you do it I would probably go I'll probably go Bears one I just I just like the way Caleb Williams is playing right now I said last year Caleb Williams needed to bet more singles and doubles meaning that you know he gets he hits the home run all the time like this the type of plays that he has and when he plays you know off-platform is there a home run plays but for him to be a more consistent quarterback he needed to bet more singles and doubles that's what he's doing this year we've been Johnson he's doing that a lot more which is making him a better quarterback and the Bears had that running game they got one of the best Russian attacks in the league they're real physical team the only question I before the the the Jeffrey Simmons trade was the Chicago have enough juice on defense to really you know take themselves to the next level to be to play you know with the 49ers or the Seattle Seahawks now with this trade they absolutely in my opinion belong amongst like the 49ers the Seattle Seahawks so I got them one number two I will probably got Detroit lines listen Jerry golf is on the heater Jerry golf and you can make the case of the MVP of the league right now he's playing that well I mean he doesn't have an interception think about that and this is a guy that you know where he's going to be in the pocket every single play but he just beats you with his mind and so I got the Detroit lines too I'll probably put the Minnesota Vikings three their defense you know the way you only study inside sure about that yeah no no listen I will put I will put them third their defense like they're on the par with like the like the like the two remember the 2000 Ravens how dominant the Ravens were at that point in time like Minnesota's defense is like that dominant my only problem is the offensively they are a pedestrian offensively Collar Murray's you know he still has a lot to be like to be desired at the quarterback position after what you're doing. they need to make a trade offense really preferable at the running back spot I think that would help them a lot and then I would put Green Bay Green Bay fourth which is crazy considering join love at the quarterback position so the division is absolutely stacked and that's my order for the NSE North. We watched that Dallas game you know they they had to have it right against Philadelphia especially when you consider the enactors on the Philadelphia side of things and then Barclay goes down again. They're rushing attacks the best is looked all season long for Dallas so it wasn't just DACA it wasn't just the receivers which is usually the rest of people like hey hopefully our defense is just average today and not terrible and then can DAC win enough matchups for their receivers on the outside and Javante Williams goes off. I know that Tyler Smith's back you know he'd missed some time looks like Titans playing at another level here but as somebody who played O-Line for a really long time at a super high level how does that change week to week you know how can it be a Dallas team that was 20 something in the yard per carry and then look like you know Jerome Betis and the Steelers on a night is it game planning is it matchups you know is at there are time that you remember like week to week we didn't really have it but despite the same personnel we kind of figured it out to any of the seasons that you can think of. I would say this I think it was more of the matchup than anything Philadelphia defense has been a huge disappointment this year I mean I could go with a lot of different things you know they 31st and sack rate 29th and pressure rate I mean they you know Dallas ran for over 200 yards against a front that includes Jalen Carter Jonathan Grinard and Jordan Davis all those guys are not playing up to the level that they we've been accustomed to seeing a big fan geo type of defense and so when I talk about this Dallas Cowboys Russian attack I think for me is how consistent can they be weekend and week out because sometimes when you play a team like the Philadelphia Eagles who are struggling that can spark you into becoming a team that that plays consistently I'm not willing to to you know unknowing the Dallas Cowboys because they're playing against the Philadelphia Eagles remember the Thursday night game but few weeks ago against the 10th Bay Buccaneers when they lost that game to a rookie quarterback yeah you know so for me I need to see how much that's never gonna forget that game no and they shouldn't they shouldn't I mean you you had you had the you had the you had the 10th Bay Buccaneers who who was winless going to that game against a rookie quarterback and only his second start and the defense got absolutely dominated so for me I look at that game against the Philadelphia Eagles that's a that's a good start as far as you know rushing the ball offensively but I need to see more but I need to see them be more consistent before I jump on that that bandwagon again I want to go back and talk about your defending season in 0-2 because I remember target September I remember the t-shirts for the Patriots after you won the Super Bowl and you came out September you won the first couple games remember that and then you you smoke the Steelers are you kill the jets and then you beat Kansas City in overtime and then I remember Bella check after that because you ended up only winning like nine games that year did you notice with a group that had never won before like something specific did it feel like things were off even though it was still a very talented team I think what we what we weren't prepared for and and build it's such a good job of saying it's like first of all each team from year to year is totally different you know you can't you can't rely on what you did last year and think it's going to carry over into this year to the next year but more importantly Bill used to tell used to tell us like every game is going to be the opposition is going to be a Super Bowl because they're planning against the defending Super Bowl champions and so what you see on tape might not necessarily be what you see on you know on game day and that was absolutely the truth we got every team's best effort that year which was it takes a lot of energy people don't understand like how much energy it takes to be able to to to replicate and repeat because you're getting the best every week and and I think that was what hurt us that that in that old two year was man we just could we didn't have the energy to sustain and really and go out there and repeat that following year did you did you feel it though like was there a frustration kind of looking around going like hey we got a lot of really good players here we just won this thing like we were the underdogs last year go ahead yeah yeah I mean because think about it when you win a championship there's obviously you have to play well you have to be healthy but you also have to have a little luck and I mean and think about it I think if you ask any team that won a Super Bowl there are plays during that season where it's just things just bounced your way and those weren't necessarily things that were happening in that old two season where plays that happened in '01 where you just look back like oh that was just part of the part of the ride those things weren't happening you know we weren't as healthy you know all those little things that that that aided us in the run to and ultimately win the Super they weren't happening in '02 and and that was the reason why we were on the outside looking in we didn't even make the playoffs yeah no I remember I remember because I remember the shirts I'm like oh this is brilliant targets yeah this is going to be on this is smart and then you guys forgot to target October and it saw as like uh oh yeah that's back but that's back when I was like like just shattered like what's going on with these guys what else to play call it would listen I would say this too like uh we weren't like we weren't the most talented team in a league I mean we did a lot when you guys won when you won the first one that was like I would say a mid NFL talent roster I'm sick like I don't know if you agree disagree but like that was a collection of a lot of guys yeah I mean Brady wasn't even close to being Brady the receiving group was like people go through those receiving stats from that crew you're like are you serious this team when it's David Patten ever been the number one option for an offensive um yeah but it was just a remarkable group and so you're right like try to try to replicate that and you know look I'm spinning it now at least the Seattle Seattle's got a bunch of good excuses you know Donald misses some time okay fine you know lock actually play it all right the running backs are out I thought that went against the chiefs and granted when they're at home it just feels a little bit different but there's a few teams record wise where like Seattle would have to have a really disastrous record before I would write them off as a threat because I just still think like hey if they get in the tournament I'm not going to really care about what their seed is because we've seen Donald doesn't have to be Josh Allen like we've already seen it so they're going to be a harder team for me to quit and I think that game against the chiefs is an awesome reminder of what they're capable of because that was defensive dominance against my home she's not used to experience in that yeah it was defensive dominance and it also shows the weakness of the Kansas City Chiefs um you know they couldn't run the ball obviously kingdoms walk at a third in that game they they completely shut him down and then the Kansas City Chiefs doesn't have any outside weapons that really scare you and so you know I know we're talking about focusing on Seattle but the chiefs are another team I think in the trade deadline they need to focus on getting a wide receiver they need one in the worst way but as far as Seattle's concerned listen that trade for Quinn Nelson should tell you everything you need to know about what they want to what they how they want to play football they want to run the football and they want to play great defense basically what they did last year that's really been a problem with the Seattle Seahawks they have they've been inconsistent we're running the football um and that's really hurt them because I think it's it's exposed in Sam Donnell a little bit too much and I think they want to get back to how they played ball last year and and they're and they're they're running when it's over both so if we run through the NFC because I was looking at this this morning and the standing's part of it you know look the NFC North thing as of today there's four teams from the NFC North and the playoffs um I I have a hard time believing that that's going to hold up because they're all going to be playing each other the strength of schedule I mean it's it's crazy Minnesota's the one CHCogga's the five to Troy's six screen bays the seven so if we say let's keep it Minnesota one San Francisco there two the giants of your three seed because of the division that puts Carolina in there there could be a Carolina Atlanta flip um especially with all of Carolina's injuries and then if you factor in that like look Atlanta basically started their season week three with penics let's say two NFC North teams here out of this group Rams cowboys Seahawks because they're all on the outside technically as of right now so yeah Rams Falcon Seahawks if you have to leave out one of the three who's out of those three yeah because you could argue cowboys division they'll figure it out the second half of it you probably like Seattle more than you like the Rams right now unless you still are hanging out for the Rams it just seems like it was I'm not gonna argue I'm not gonna argue the cowboys I'm not until they show that they can play any type of defense I'm not like I think the giants better than them yes yes I like John Harball I've always said coach and man is more in the national football league than any other league and John Hall ball is what he's done for the Giants and the identity. The Giants have an identity. The Cowboys don't have an identity. See that to me is big like the way they're being coached up right now. Give me the Giants. Give me the Giants all day every day over the Cowboys. Would you rather than if I had to and if I had to and those other three teams of Rams the Falcons and the Seahawks, I would probably say I would probably lead the Rams on the outside looking in. I would like I just think that the injuries, the inconsistency in the way they they're playing style. Who knows when miles I think another question. When is Miles Gary coming back? We haven't heard of people about that. I don't know when Miles Gary it's coming back. And so for me of those three I would probably lead the Rams out. Do you like any of the good record maybe bad team AFC teams? Cleveland, Pittsburgh. I don't think Baltimore honestly you can't put Baltimore in this group right now because Lamar has not been playing and we're going to find out a lot about Baltimore this week. But maybe this is a Cleveland Pittsburgh question unless you want to throw somebody else in there. I think Cincinnati will win that division. Yeah I don't put them even even with the record. I don't put them in that group either right. You asked me who do I trust who do I trust more between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. I think that's really because we can't put Jackson Bill like Cleveland has this five and two record. Pittsburgh has a five and two record but maybe this is what the question should be because but see I know what the answer is going to be. So it's not that good of a question. If I said Cleveland Denver Pittsburgh you're going to tell me Cleveland because of or you're going to tell me Denver or excuse me because of that defense. I'm trying to find somebody who says they like Cleveland I guess. Like listen here's I will say this. Cleveland they got their young team they got a bunch of young players that I really like. The Sean Washington. The Sean Washington is probably to come back play the year at this point. The way he's playing to win it. Yeah. Like that's the way he's playing. I just don't think I don't think they're playing clean enough all four quarters for me to push my chips all the way in on Cleveland. I would probably say man that's a tough one man because Denver like Denver would be the easy easy one to say but do you trust Bo-Nicks? I don't trust Bo-Nicks. Like Denver's offense has been a disappointment. Yes they got a defense but they got to get some things solved on their offense for me to feel a lot more comfortable with the Denver Broncos right now so I just think that the the AFC right now is there's a lot of mediocrity in the AFC in my opinion. Yeah part of that I think is the Cincinnati record and then what do you do with Baltimore and you're like I hate I think we all like those teams better than Cleveland. Like even Baltimore Baltimore obviously we talk about the Lamar Jackson injury but Baltimore's defense is let's be honest they're not good they're not good they they look like a team that's they their past defense their corners can't hold up they play a lot of zone they don't play man because they don't trust their corners and they've been getting exposed in their secondary a lot so the combination of Lamar Jackson their defense I'm not there with Baltimore. It's a great call to defense because I think sometimes like when you have a brand as a team and I think you always think of defense of the Ravens and the way we get talked about remember they were the Super Bowl or they were the AFC favorite to get to the Super Bowl for the season started but I think a lot of it had to do with schedule but it's funny enough though if you look at some of the per-play stuff defensively Baltimore's 18th Buffalo is last okay how about we do this would you rather for the rest of the season have Bownex, Dishon Watson, Aaron Rodgers ranked those three I would probably say man that's it I would go don't do it he has been playing that well it's crazy I know it is so crazy but of those three I would probably go the Shon Watson Aaron Rodgers in Bownex it's crazy it's crazy that's what I'm saying like right now the Shon Watson you make the case for comeback play the year yeah I mean look again I don't think the voters would ever vote for them but if you want to talk comebacks I mean this is this is five now in the first five wins I think the only other two guys to do it were Brady and maybe Drew Brees or something like the graphic popped up as they were pulling out another one of these games and it's not very pretty you could argue there's no way they're going to keep this up I said the same thing about Denver last year and they kept it up the entire time and who knows you know Nix is playing at home it's not Jared Stidham on a tough day very welcome in Denver yeah you know I don't even know what you do with that game is you know like what what the hell's this game mean here with everything that was going on with it all it's just it's a tough it's crazy right yeah it's crazy yeah I thought the NFC North thing was tough to do because no matter which order you put those themes in you go is this potentially wrong like if Green Bay doesn't get hosed on some calls there are we all in love with Green Bay right now and the thing about Green Bay we haven't been talked about when Michael comes back but when Michael comes back down you know that could change the whole complexity of the conversation they lost my guy Cooper though which sucks yeah they have looked a little bit better because the beginning of the year I just like I don't I don't know if I'm going to like the line I don't know if I'm going to like the defense even though I would say from a clip perspective there are times where I watch some of these Jordan love throws and I go yep don't ever get down on this guy because this guy actually is this special and as they keep going with those two receivers like who knows um I've got one more for you here before we let you bounce I've started to think that like Brady now we get to listen to him every week I knew he was smart okay I knew I understood football but he is doing shit what he every week where I'm like here he already knew that or that explanation of this route was this or why this interception happened was because of this here but for somebody else it was something entirely different and that's the quarterbacks fall and this one isn't the quarterbacks fall was it annoying to work with somebody that was this fucking smart about the field that you yourself also worked in because now it makes even more sense of why you guys all won so many games together because it seems like he was on top of every single detail at all times annoying hell no I was grateful to work with guy that was so smart listen Ryan there was I mean I wish that like there was nothing like being on a field with him in the fourth quarter we're down and I just knew I'm like we're gonna win this dude just like he there was nothing you could throw him that he didn't see he's competitive as hell accurate as hell and so all we had to do was if I just do my job if everyone just does their job you're not going to stop it's just not going to stop it because you're you're not going to outsmart him the defense accord and whatever you throw at him he's he's seen it all so it's just you just had a calmness about you bro you had a calmness like bro we're going to smoke it we're going to smoke these folks like we we got them we got them right where we want them and a lot of times we go out there and we get time and you could just you could sense the nervous energy that the opposition had like all shit we didn't we we didn't get we didn't get braided too much time and we just go out there and execute so to see him talk about these things on television none of that surprises me because he was that way as a player do you think he would have been that way no matter what or do you think bill got him early and that Tom because Tom's you know he's not this first round draft pick right like a different guy maybe comes in with a slightly different mindset maybe a little bit more expectation of people who are going to kind of like he the fact that he's picked so late I wonder if it was like the perfect piece of clay for Bella check to be like all right you want this like this is what's going to have to happen I mean look clearly there was something about the relationship that made it better but I wonder I'm like he might just be say psycho he was going to do this he was going to figure this out anyway no listen I think that being will bill definitely I don't think Tom would have been where he is right now without bill and bill would not have accomplished the thing is that he accomplished without Tom. You got two psychos literally being paired together 'cause Tom's not the most athletic guy. Everyone knows that, but he's a psycho from the neck up. And he's one of those guys' attention to detail the second and none, same with Bill. And so you pair those two together, and that's what you get. And you still getting that from Tom, even to this day, like he's just a attention to detail freak. - It's fun, it's so much fun. Annoying was a wrong way to ask that, but I just, there's simple things, like Kevin Berkhardt asked about the clock, and he was like, oh, there should be this much time left. And Kevin's awesome, and he's on it. And Brady was like, no, there'll be 130 left. Like, immediately knew he had done the math. He's like, one more time out, this two minute kick, snap, plate clock. And he was like, no, no, they'll have this much time. And it wasn't like, he had already knew, it wasn't like, I'm gonna ask you about this or something crazy. And then I was talking to a guy who played quarterback. And I was like, did you hear his explanation on this route thing, on why this route thing? And he goes, dude, I played and I didn't even know. Like, that's, that's what it was supposed to be. And I go, the beauty of it all, which is the difference between, you know, guys that are really smart about the game, and they, hey, can you actually go out there and do it? He makes it super easy to understand, on top of everything else. - Well, that's what great, that's what great announces do. Like, the really good ones can take all of that. And, you know, digest it and just spit it out as far as, you know, explain it to like a third, fourth grade level. So everyone can understand and digest it. That's what Brady is doing. Like, he's, Brady is, like, it took him a minute, but now he's rolling. He's rolling now. - I miss you, man, I'm thrilled to see you again here. And let's get you back on and make sure you check out the OG football show with our guy, Damian Woody Markslayer with Trey Wingo and Meryl Hatch. Thanks, man. - Appreciate you. - Before we give the alliance, this segment is brought to you by Draft Kings. Our partners over to Draft Kings was some trends for this upcoming NFL week. Not surprising here, the most bet on game money wise. Again, there's two categories handle and number of bets, but the most money bet the Jags right now who are at home. They open as a four and a half point favorite. Now they're a 10 and a half point favorite on the number that I have right now. That makes sense because the Colts not only are bad and the Daniel Jones thing appears to have been a couple of month thing from the 25 season that Colts fans can remember fondly, but they're also trading their players now on top of everything else. I also think it's kind of like a good spot there. For Jacksonville, knowing like, we kind of want to get this back to the States and see how this is rolling here, but again, minus 10 and a half in this week. Good luck with that. So that game moved the second most of any game since the opening line. The other one, Philly opened as a point and a half favorite against Washington as one dramatically the other way. Washington now a five and a half point favorite at home. So there's that. I also want to take a look at some of the Draft Kings notes on MVP, Josh Allen, the favorite, who's gone from plus 600 before the season started. It's now plus 170. Caleb Williams is the most bet MVP option here at plus 1,700. And Burrows gone from plus 1,000 plus 450. The Rams are still the most bet as far as Super Bowl handle. And the number of overall bets, but their odds have gone from plus 500 to plus 1,100 and the Niners who open the season as plus 1,900 to win the Super Bowl are now at plus 580. The Alliance marches on. So are you and Kyle with us right now? What happened last week? Ryan stays hot. It's four straight. You're four and two. My losing streak or my winning streak ended. I lost that Houston. That was a disaster. Kyle lost on the jets. Yeah, but you know what? I'm not mad about that bet because it was basically just like, hey, if Houston's serious, then they're going to cover this and whatever. They're not losing outright. So they're not serious. So there you go. Yeah, you were testing them. Yeah, right. This is not about me. Yeah. Wasn't even about that. No, I wouldn't even count that loss. That was about you making a statement to them to see if they respond to total energy. Yeah. I'll just know that one. That's fine. I've been pretty down on myself. It's not good. And then Ryan's personal stuff too, you know, I almost got on Twitter and be like, I'm just a piece of garbage. And then I saw Hank did that and I was like, I can't even do that. Hank was like, I suck at betting football and right as I was really feeling low. So I got to change the calculus. And that's what I'm doing. Well, the first thing you do when you lose a public bet that you give out is check social media. That should, it should always be the first thing you do usually helps. Yeah. It's early. I mean, Ryan's four and two. I'm three and three. Kyle's two and four. But, you know, Kyle did win it last year. So it's okay. It's okay. So I guess Ryan, you should start because you're on fire. I don't want to start. Okay. All right. Why don't we change up then Kyle? Yeah. Low man goes first. Okay. No, we had Kyle go first last time. So I think I will first last time. Oh, you did. I'm pretty sure I won first last time. Yeah. This is a week written all over. Yeah. Go ahead. Well, last week, remember, I said we picked all four, all three favorites. I was like, there's no way that's going to work out well. No. All right. I'm taking brown Steelers over everything that I liked. I was like, you know what? Don't do that. So I threw a couple out. And I'm doing brown Steelers over 39 and a half. I don't really feel anything about it. Maybe that's the best thing I could say. Okay. You're just numb. That's how you want to be. Just can't see it right now. It's cloudy. Yeah. Hey, I know the feeling man. I am. I'm not going to take a favorite. I'm going to take the Ravens plus three and a half in Buffalo. Looks like Lamar's back. This is a game they, I'm not saying they need to win this game, but they're what they are in last in the division. Now they're only a game out of first. So I guess, you know, it's still pretty early that division is wild. But I don't know. Like if I'm going to feel goal, they can still lose by feel going on in this bet. So I think I think it'll be close and I'd rather take the points. And I think the bills like I love, we all love Josh Allen. I get that. I guess we all don't love Josh Allen, but we like Josh Allen on this show. They're running a little hot right now. I feel like this is it. They were kind of right for the taking. Okay. Some of these nationally televised games, like I just feel like you have to go against everybody. But the money on Eagles and Commanders is fairly split here because I'm a little tempted to kind of reverse what I did. Oh, that was a different thing that I had to do actually with Dallas and Philadelphia. But in that spot, like everybody's hammering, well, look, it's switched so much because the Eagles open as a favorite now you're talking plus five and a half. But the handle on it, it's not that public of a bet on either side of it. The line just moved a ton. I don't think anybody's going to have the charges plus six and a half against the ramps. So that's a little tempting. But I'm going to go with, I don't even like this one, Jets minus one and a half at home against the Raiders. Back to back weeks, we have the Jets' favorites. Let's go. Yeah. I had the Jets in this big time survivor thing and trying to get a little cute with it, you know, used a few teams, getting down to it and we kind of just go like division game, some of those division games, especially like with just bad teams. But had to be done, whatever, I'm not going to say here, I think I probably rather hear about my golf round than recapping a survivor pool week by week decision thing. So I think we end it right here. Shout out to Dropkinks. In today's New York, nobody carries cash anymore, but Harry layman still makes a living the old fashioned way. John Titoro stars in the only living pick pocket in New York as a legendary thief who refuses to change with the times. Harry survives on charm, instinct and decades of street smarts, but when an unexpected score lands him in possession of something far more valuable than a wallet, he suddenly finds himself running from dangerous criminals determined to get it back. Critics are raving with the Daily Beast calling it a perfect crime film, variety praising Titoro's performance as a towering work and the Los Angeles Times declaring it instantly classic. Also starring Giancarlo Esposito, Tatiana Maslani, Will Price and Steve Bishemi, the only living pick pocket in New York is a thrilling, funny and unmistakably New York story about survival in the city, this changing faster than ever. Now playing in New York and Los Angeles nationwide October 30th. Let's talk some NBA. Our friend from days past is our guy was from the big watch show. What's up, man? I'm good, man. Cannot complain at all. Happy to be back on, which you guys. All right. So a bunch of different things that I want to get to where we can do this whole thing. Who did you pick for the NBA finals before the season started? Okay. See New York. I had the same pick. And okay. See winning it. Yeah. Okay. Okay. My question for you is who cares about the next starting on three, but what was your reasoning behind picking them again, because I don't know that it was as popular as I thought it would be. To me, they just have the least amount of things to figure out come postseason. In terms of roster balance, we saw on the playoffs last year. Amongst the most well balanced rosters in the NBA in terms of like they have two plus, plus, plus, plus, plus offensive guys in cat. And then on defense. they proved that they could ratchet up their defense, no matter the matchup to elite levels. That's just not something you could say about a lot of teams. And even the teams that I really liked coming into the season, which are Toronto, if Kawaii can actually finish the season on the court, Indiana, with healthy, Hallyu, he looked healthy actually before he went down with the hammy. I just thought they would still have a lot of things to figure out because, you know, even Indy, who brings back most of the guys from the finals, Miles Turner and Zubach are two completely different players. And that's something you have to figure out on the fly in a playoff setting. And the same could be said of Toronto, who, although like, I love the Kawaii pick up, I still think offensively they would have, you know, some troubles. I just thought that they would be just a formidable defense and give everybody, you know, to fit if they had all of their guys. After the first day of the season, I was like, look, if Joe LNB is actually going to be able to move around to six as a formidable two, but how can you actually count on that six months from now? Seven months from now actually being the case after a very long regular season. And, you know, what would probably be a couple of grueling, Eastern Conference series, you know, to get, even get to the nicks. And so, yeah, I just felt like the nicks had the continuity on their side, they're still a very talented team, which I think is lost in a lot of the shadow that I saw over the summer about, where do you put Jalen Brunson in the, you know, the individual player pecking it? I'm like, look, man, I don't know that I've really changed my opinion that much about Jalen Brunson. I think the guys on the nicks surrounding Jalen Brunson, these are great players. Like, OGN and Nobi was unbelievable in the playoffs. You know, Carl Towns minus the last two games against the Spurs was unbelievable. And he straight up just beat Wembee one on one in their minutes that they shared in the finals. It was just straight up just way better than him. And this is a guy who everybody thinks is going to be the next all-time Korean LeBron Jordan Magic. And so I just think the nicks is just the most well-rounded Easter conferencing. Where'd you get in the way better than him from on plus minus? Just on everything. I just, like, Wembee just was not good when Cap was matched up against them. Look it up. Go watch the actual plays. He couldn't get to his stuff. He just seemed flustered when Towns was guarding them one on one. And then the way Towns had them playing out in space out to 25, 26 feet. He was flustered by that too. And the truth of the matter is most importantly, honestly, is that after Wembee destroyed the wolves, he destroyed Chad. I mean, goddamn, we thought Chad was never coming back from this. Like, Carl Towns just straight up played this guy straight up with no problem. Send no help. I don't care what this guy does. I'm good. And the Spurs lost that series on offense. And it's because Carl Towns put this guy in a smash. That's what happened, Brian. I think Wembee didn't do himself any favors catching the ball. A million feet away from the hoop. But the Spurs also did a terrible dog shit job on using the Wembee advantage. And by the way, I'm watching the Spurs to start. I think I've caught three of the games. There's two things that are happening. He's still setting up too far away. I don't understand. I get part of it is, hey, you have to stretch five. So that opens up the driving lanes for this four guard line up that we're sending out there. And it's awesome and all the stuff. But I mean, he even had a seal last night against somebody from the jazz. His feet were on the restricted area line. And then the guards just pinged the ball all over the place. And you're like, you can't get the ball. And there wasn't anybody fronting him. He had his defender sealed to him. These guards collectively still do a bad job at getting him involved. So I think Cack gets too much credit for that. Sorry. That's why I push back a little bit. That's fine. Again, I just point to Rudy, Nas Reed, every single big on OKC. They couldn't do anything with this guy. And then they played a mix. And it's fine. On an island sending barely any help towards them. I got to give car sounds as flowers for that. That's all I'm saying. Guys are attacking Wembee a little bit more to start the season, too. I've noticed Shenguin went right at him. The King's game plan, whether it was to try to get him in foul trouble. Like, subonus was just, hey, no matter what, like up and under. I'm going to like, I'm going to go at you. I've just, I've noticed it a little bit more. There's also been some drives. You were like, why were you trying to do that? Maybe some guards from the jazz last night, not to get on stage or to, I think, looks fucking awesome. Again, by the way, for those of you that are missing any jazz games. But yeah, look, I love the Nick's pick. I just, the collective, some of it, they broke two rules, right? They broke the small point guard rule. They broke the cat as your one five defensive matchups. However good you thought it could be, you're like, that's probably a rule that I'm still going to believe in. And I think both of those guys broke those rules. OK, OK, see on the other side. Do you think they should trade Jalen Williams? I, I don't see the, I don't see them talking about it. It's already, I can see the cold hard logic in it. I know, um, you know, some of our, shall we say, brainier analysts would say it's a no brainer. I just, I know how to MBA works. And the relationship business that it is, I don't see how they could do that. Like after you cultivate this family forward atmosphere, this, I did it, OK, see is different. You know, when you come here, we take care of our guys. Yes, your family has to brave the indignities of living in Oklahoma as opposed to New York, Los Angeles, LA, Chicago, blah, blah, blah. However, on an organizational level, we are a one, we're top flight. We, we catered to you guys in a way that you are not going to replicate anywhere else. And the idea that an organization that sells itself that way would then trade their all MBA guy, the guy who shade Gilgis Alexander. So clearly has an affinity for at his darkest moment. And then you know, you trade them like New Orleans MBA Siberia for, you know, trade young and herb Jones and some, you know, and whatever. In the process, I just don't see how you do. That's just not how the MBA works on a human level. Like another thing is, OK, see really values this personality type, right? And so this guy is part of that personality type that they so dearly value. I don't know how they go out and just make a talent play while also alienating your star and being like, yeah, we don't really, all of a shit we said about family and all. We really mean that shit. Jay, come on. Be serious. I don't see how they could do that. But I think logically, if we were playing, you know, 2k, yeah, this is easy money. All of those pigs you attach it to his contract, some of them to his contract and go get an amazing talent upgrade. Hmm. Like when I first heard it, and by the way, everything you said was really good, OK, because I'm more aligned with you on, I just don't know that you can do this, all right? He's 25 years old. He's a core piece here. You expect that he likely will be back. Now if you had your own information, you're like, you know, he was hurt a couple of years ago, and he was hurt. Last year, and missed all the playoffs against the Spurs, we missed 4 of the 7 games. You know, he seems to be a little injury prone, is there some sort of flip? But then again, what flip exists where you go? We are adding something that keeps us at this level because we look at ourselves as title contenders, like which player, and granted, things can change really, really quickly, and then there's the next mad guy come January or February, maybe they're aligned to go ahead and do it, and it doesn't feel so cold because it's not days after watching this horrific injury happen on television and impact all of these guys. But whenever I look at like some of these really aggressive, like big ticket item trades, the numbers for the top guys now are so staggering that sometimes that's even hard to pull off. And you knew that OKC was going to get rid of the extra guys because of that bill that's coming due the next two years after this year, it's massive. So if they did it, it's like, it's partially motivated to try to keep us at a certain level for 2627, but it also maybe saw some of our long term tax issues here too. I don't know if Prestige wanted to attach picks because I'm sure he likes the picks and the flexibility and all this stuff. I mean, they can probably pull off whatever move they want. I'm sure other teams would be interested in the 25 would be 26 next April. You would think unless they're just horrified by the injury. I guess I'm just saying a lot of things here, but it's just as cold as the business can be. feel like really nasty in a way. I don't know. I mean, the people have brought up the Isaiah Thomas with the Celtics thing before trading him for Kyrie. That one, I would always like to remind people like how that timeline was playing out. First of all, you do that trade in a million times if you're attaching Isaiah Thomas and the pick that was Colin Sexton and all that stuff, right? Isaiah Thomas was unbelievable with the Celtics. That wasn't a very good team. He had that hip injury, but they always tell the stories like that injury and the betray to cost him like 160 million of free agency. I don't think Isaiah Thomas was coming close to getting any of that kind of stuff and he's the one that decided to play and then he was hurt. So he was hurt while he was playing and doing all these different things. I don't, I think that's that that whole timeline gets remembered I think a little bit differently than how it was playing out is it's not it's just not the same. Isaiah Thomas didn't bring a championship to the Celtics as an all NBA all star, you know, type of play. He didn't he's not he's just not a part of that level of success. He came in fifth and MVP that year. That's insane. Yeah. I just to look it up again. Yeah. Right. That is insane. And again, the Celtics were not billing themselves as the college atmosphere and B18 like the things that the head guy says to the most important players matters. Right. Like there are more you can lie to, you know, shake Milton. You can't just lie to James Harden to his face. Like the things that you say and how you move relating to how you've managed the most important players. It really matters. Right. Like the other example I'll use is Deandra Foxx where after the finals, everybody's like get him out of here. Dylan Harper is so clearly so obviously the future. And it's like again, that ignores the people part of the NBA business. Deandra Foxx was up for trade. He made a note. He only wanted to be in San Antonio. A organization that absolutely never gets picked by anybody for any reason. So you have that another organization where I think Presti learned this from that prioritizes guys of a certain character. Guys that have a certain personality trait. Deandra Foxx so clearly fits that mold. You bring him in for one year. He has one bad series. You don't just be like, we're done with you. We're jettisoning you because we have a young guy that we think needs to be slotted in. No, they're going to be like, yeah, we're going to manage this with the personalities because we can't just dump this dude. Just dump them off one year after we got him. It just doesn't work like that. The Fox thing is an overreaction because it also is bad as it was because it was bad. It also ignores like the other part. You're like, okay, cool. Everybody wants them out. Okay, what's the other part? What's Deandra Foxx worth now at this contract extension that makes sense that we're adding a power forward that you think is like the talent equivalent of Deandra Foxx. Like even if you're down on Deandra Foxx, like anytime that stuff happens, like the number of times fan bases or media are just called for like, hey, they're going to do something different. It's like, okay, but do you want to go over the list of our five or six options? Hey, guess what? They all kind of suck. You don't really like them. Yeah, well, that's why we're not doing it. And so I don't even know what the options are for Jalen Williams, but on that collegiate atmosphere and the relationship part of it, I do wonder, is there any chance that's completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things when it comes to basketball? Like remember the Lakers did the Kobe deal. They were like, we're going to do this so that other stars know because that extension was insane for Kobe. Like it didn't make any basketball sense whatsoever. And then it's like, hey, okay, cool. You took this huge number and now the rest of the team stinks. Congrats. Awesome. But what was being sold by the bus family was like, this is a reminder to the other stars in the NBA that this is what we do for our stars. I think LeBron went there because it was Los Angeles. I don't know that it was because of something like that. And certainly he wasn't going to they took care of LeBron time and time again. And he probably should have just stayed there with this team. If he was going to take this massive bait cut, maybe it's even a better basketball fit. And then they're able to gear up around him. I just wonder like, hey, we couldn't do that. Would it actually matter? Is there a decision from another player in three or four years where they go, hey, I would have done OKC, but they did this to Jane the Williams. I mean, it's impossible. I think it's a part of the player. I think it's about Shay. I just don't think you can create disharmony within your building. Like if Shay's unhappy, then it's over. Right? Like if the guy who's this to me, a model superstar, he's literally everything organizationally that you want in a superstar low maintenance, excellent work habits, takes on the leadership role. Like, where's it? You know, like Luca does a trip to Slovenia this summer. And everybody's throwing him a parade. Like, oh my god, he's becoming the leader of the team. I mean, hello, he's their best player. He's supposed to be doing this if he takes his job seriously. So you have Shay, who does all of the stuff on the court that a superstar supposed to, of course, and then off the court, he does all of it in spades and is a plus at it. Right? And so this idea that you create some disharmony in your building, just for Shay, that idea that OKC is, I don't think OKC thinks they are attracting people when they handle business the way that they do. I think they, when they get people in, they're convincing them like, yo, this is a good place to be, regardless of what you may have heard or what your agent might have told you about what desirable at NBA X destinations are, we're desirable too in our own right for our own reasons. And I think they've thoroughly convinced Shay of this. To me, that's what it's about. It's like not upsetting Shay because he's there and he's the thing that makes this whole thing take. Whose side are you on, Tatum or Jalen Brown? Man, I'm, if I had to pick a side, I'm on the Jalen Brown side in a labor versus management sort of way. And so Tatum represents management here? No, I think Tatum has not been mistreated by management or mismanaged, not mistreated, sorry, mismanaged. I don't think Boston set out to be a dick to Jalen Brown. Like, I don't think Brad and his under bosses are like, yo, we hate this kid. We're going to be a dick to him. I think they mismanaged the situation. They, I think they like very, I like, how could you look at this outcome and not say it was very poorly managed? There's no other way to put it, right? And so I understand, you know, it's little things too. It's, it's, it's funny, but I think people need to understand how NBA players think. In their mind, everything is a competition. Everything is competitive. It's what makes them phenomenal, professional athletes. And when you put Tatum's family and row one at every game, and my family sits in 18, I'm going to notice that, you know, there's just a sense in how the Jalen Brown is definitely going to notice it. And then we're going to hear about it. I'm going to say and again, I can understand people like me and you being like, yo, that's kind of ridiculous. By the way, do we know that that's even true that Jalen Brown's family had worse seats? I've heard that, I've heard that from credible people. I've heard that from credible people. And again, these are, these things compound on themselves, okay? And so this perception that you've always been seeing from the start that you are not one A and one B, your number two, you know, it's almost like in a royal family. So the contract extension that was made in the highest paid player in the NBA, Jalen Brown was the highest annual average salary for any player NBA history at one point. Would Jalen Brown would say is that I've clearly earned that? That's what he would say. It's like, you're not doing me a favor by giving away anybody that special only keeps track of the grievances to be honest with you. So there's that man. You're watching Waz Lambrie, a massive feelings guy. I didn't expect it. It matters. Yeah. No, I like it. I like where we're going. So you know, from the beginning, and my god, Jay King came on a show and mentioned this. Like when Tatum came, Brown was already starting, then they moved him to the bench. You know, just Tatum's better. Sure. You sure. And I agree with you when I was talking a decade ago, and you won finals MVP. It doesn't matter. It's just this feeling that you're constantly getting that you don't matter as much or or the other guy is better. You know, hey, look, Jalen Brown's awesome. The other guy is better. But then what about last year, but then what about last year, Ryan? When great regular season team everybody thought this team included myself. I thought they were headed for the lottery. I swear to God, I did. Because of what Boston did, like just, you know, we're giving away all of our great roleplay. We have amazing roleplayers on his team. We're giving away damn, they're all of them. Get them out of here. We're stripping it down. Yeah, we got Jalen coming back. Yeah, we got Derek White. It's an awesome season. It's unbelievable. He did. Once again, he smashed through the ceiling. There's not one NBA team that would go, we want to build a roster around Jalen Brown. Cool. He's not that guy. What he would say. And again, I don't necessarily agree with Jalen Brown, but I understand where he's coming from. What he would say is I did all of this this season by myself, by myself, right? He could spin it that way. And instead of being like, no, you're of a level, you're in terms of importance, even if the organization thinks one is better than the other, can't we be just as important as each other? You know, in terms of the treatment. And Jalen Brown is like, I get nothing that I get them changing the offense completely around as soon as Tatum comes back. I get what he expect was going to happen when Tatum came back. See, my thing, and I don't, I don't know this 100%. But I think Tatum coming back bum brown out and Brown would prefer like, I'm going to do this. And if that's what you're looking at, like, this is a proven season. It has to be my proven season all the way through the playoffs. Then it's like, well, then what are we doing here? I mean, if I were Brad Stevens, if that, I don't know if that's true or not. But if Jalen Brown would have preferred Tatum not come back last year, then if I'm Brad Stevens, it's all I have to know about a basketball player. And again, again, if you're Jalen Brown and you know for a fact, if the, if the, if the Boston Celtics had the exact same regular season outcome with Jalen Brown out and Jason Tatum in the exact same playoff flame out when Brown came back and Jason Tatum was dead a whole time, his contract extension would not have been a question. That thing would have been signed. The day it was ready. And Jalen Brown is like, damn, I just did this. And I know for a fact, I would have took care of Jason Tatum. Okay, but once again, the, the most fascinating, stupid fucking contract extension debate in the history of fucking sports. When Jalen Brown started to swear twice, but when he's under contract this year for 57.7, 61.6 and 65 million, we're talking about him not getting a two year extension on the three existing years that start this year with no player option with no team option. He is on the books from almost 200 fucking million dollars. And it's like, man, I can't believe they didn't extend you. What, you know, I know one's extending you because no one's extending you, Jalen Brown off of that 65.6 number at the max escalation. There's nobody's nobody, but they look at that number and go, I'm not, I don't know what I'm not doing that. Yeah. So this isn't, I mean, Kat has a better case because of this year and then the player option, which I saw some places in the team option. And I went, you know what, what are player option? Like I get it year out wins the championship. This, I can't believe how accepted this Jalen Brown non extension thing has become as, as like an actual talking point. When you go dude, you're on three massive years. We can worry about that later. So obviously, I completely agree with you. I think an organization that was better at managing the personalities would adult with it. Right. I think then Yannis was available. You know, sorry. Like Yannis was available. You were, we put your name in Yannis talks. I like again, the idea that you could be mega offended by that. I think is offended by the Durant one. You know, I, look, some of it I get, I don't want to be so pro-Catum that I can't understand Jalen going like, hey, but I really start to think like, would you just be happy as if you got a two year extension in Sacramento? And you're like to get all the eight cuff would be taken so many shots away from me. To me. So to explain the extension thing again, it comes down to the owners created this fucking world, by the way, because it's also a new ownership group, too, which the first thing they did was they locked out with the Tatum injury in a way where they justify, hey, we're getting rid of the tax bill. Sflashing costs. Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying the Tatum injury was a good thing, but financially, there was a way to be able to do that and go, we can, we can get away with this. We're coming into a lost season. Right. So before you could do the extensions at 125% of your previous salary, now it's 140%. So guys are very much incentivized to ask for this extension and it's a status symbol. It's become a status symbol. You're right. You're important to your organization. They extend you at the first minute they can't because they love you. They don't want to see you go anywhere. They think the world of you. They extend you. And so it's become this kind of loyalty test for teams where because if it's available and I'm who you've been telling me I am, then you need to give me this extension right now. And again, the owners created this because they're like, oh, we need to retain, we need extra goodies to retain players. And so players are like, okay, cool. You want to retain players. I should be one of the guys that gets retained. Extend me. And again, I think I think it's ridiculous to be crying about an extension. You didn't get when you have three years guaranteed. There's no option on the third. It's not even two. It's three full seasons. And again, like you said, on a contract that was one of the biggest, if not the biggest one, it was the biggest one in the history of league when it was signed. When it was signed. And again, this is where I give Boston a critique here. In terms of Brad, I think Brad has been amazing. I think he's been better than Danny Ainge who has like 50 million mouthpieces in the media to talk about amazing he is. I think he's been better, right? However, Brad, when you see organizations like they're like, yo, Jameer Nelson is our assistant GM, where you see player X is assistant GM. A lot of times those X players play the role of smooth shit overguy. That's the guy that's going to get people in the room, you know, player to player. Let's hash this out. We have a great thing. The success that we've had is pretty much unprecedented in the unprecedented in the modern Celtics era. I think they went to like six conference finals together. Why are we breaking this up? Everybody's getting paid. Everybody's important here. Somebody should have got them in a room. But the Celtics don't have that person. They're just incredible at identifying great players, great role players, great fits, you know, value players. Brad has been incredible at roster construction. I do think the people part, that's not his bag. Obviously, the fact that this got out of hand, I know it can feel like Jalen Brown is a little crazy. And I think that's true. I do. I think the coming out and saying it's your favorite season ever, bra, stop it. But I even got his point. I even got his point. But as soon as he said it, I'm like, that's going to, that's not going to go over well. That didn't play well with management. No, because I think the people that really beat him up for it, I think we're being a little unfair, like there's a way of messaging that, like, hey, with everything that happened, everything that was being said in a way, like, I'll look at the season as one of my favorites ever. But they didn't go over well. And look, it just adds to the timeline. I can't wait until they play in a couple weeks. Real quick, we're pulling, we're pulling everyone here. I have not, I have not. I've just been getting group chat messages about how like it's bordering on absurdity. Like I'm styling. Give yourself a quarter. My favorite Sacramento Kings moment this season is not a Sacramento Kings game. How does that happen, Ryan? Let me explain. Watching the Pell's nuggets rematch last night, this time, it's personal. Zach Levine court side on the baseline, because Sacramento's playing him. He went to the Pelicans game in New Orleans in everything to do. And he went to nuggets pelicans, advanced scouting. So do not, do not say that Zach Levine doesn't love hoops. And then he isn't about, he may have had ball is everything. The rest is just details. The end one, double XL T. He could have had that underneath some sort of jacket. I want everyone to check out Waz's new show where I know the podcast just launched. The big Waz show, Waz Lambrie. Thanks, man. Life advice, the email address, life advice, [email protected]. Also, if you're just a big NBA guy, NBA mail back, [email protected]. For 10 good minutes, it comes to our YouTube only audience every Tuesday. Okay, a lot of feedback on the trick-or-treater. I will just say this. For the parents that I actually like the advice, which was a zonal wronging number of you. Again, I don't have kids, but I certainly have experience with kids. Have stuff going on. That's very challenging and I'm sure as a parent, when you think of kind of the default setting of the parent, as much as it goes into it, is that you always just want to make things better for your kid. You would just be like, how can I make it better? And when you're dealing with the kid that maybe has some social issues, maybe stuff that's even more serious than that, it's going to be a really helpless feeling for a parent to just be like, I want to make this better. And this is something that I can't make better. So there were a lot of parents that kind of went that angle, which is kind of where I was going with that whole thing. And honestly, it wasn't really harsh towards the e-mailer. There was a couple that were, but I just wanted to tell the parents that chimed in and the kind of thought of like, hey, my kid is a little different or whatever. We appreciated those e-mails. And again, it wasn't fully attacking the guy because I also understand the guy's point of like, hey, what if it's just a normal kid and he's, you know, about to be 17 and he's just getting there getting candy. But it was just something I was thinking about when we were reading that one. And I wanted to make sure that we told the parents that, you know, are dealing with challenging times there that we appreciated their feedback on that. All right. Hey Steve, so quick. As a homeowner, do you ever get nervous for like some hoodlips coming around later hours of the night? Are you in like one of those neighborhoods? No. My old spot, we didn't really get any trigger treaters, which was annoying. This one, we get a lot, but it's mostly young kids, man. We're kind of, we're kind of, we're in the sticks a little bit. So it's not like, it's not, we don't, I don't know. We just don't know how to follow you, I guess. I just picture you in a perfectly suburban neighborhood. I got no idea where you actually are. But for some reason, I just, we got a good spot. My block takes, takes Halloween pretty serious. So we got a British guy at the end of the street that just goes all out and actually it's kind of scary. And he always like, kind of like, try to like, you know, round up the crew to be like, Hey, come check my stuff. Guys, he's at the end. Nobody goes to the end. I really can open it so far over there. Yeah. So we usually try to stop over there once the time. But no, now I'm not really like a, we're usually out sugar trading. And then so I don't really see like most of the young kids, I do get most of the older kids because by the time my kids are gone, that's what I'm saying. You don't get a little like, well, what's going to be this year? All right. Nothing close to like 16, 17. I would say, you know, like borderline high school kids, but that's about it. I've had no issues. I got to use on the blockhand it out full beers nips. It's pretty cool though. It's good. It's a good scene. A lot of parents are really into that. I've noticed that where it's like pit stops for the parents, make some drinks. You know, there's all different themes that are out there. You know, that like my mind blowing to me. My parents told me like, I remember my version of like the neighborhood Halloween thing where we go from house to house. And they're like, yeah, and then their house is where the, you know, we break off from you guys and have like three quick drinks and then get back out there. I was like, I have totally different for you guys to stop. Yeah. I thought you guys were just doing this all for me. Kyle's 14 with a jack and coke. This is way better. No, this is a good guy. My street that I want to, I want to copy his set up when my kids are old enough to go on their own. It's like he just does like the solo stove thing and just like cool or next to him and just, hey, if you want to sit down, chat for a little bit, you know, if not, you know, take one and keep it moving. I love that. That's what I want to do. Yeah. Now we got a grill going. I know. I like Halloween. I know it's like maybe kind of corny or whatever. I love Halloween. We've been over this. You dressing up? I got, I have two things. Well, both my daughters are going to be, they're going to be nice switches. The older one decided that she was going to be a nice switch and then decided her sister was also going to be a nice switch. So she had that we both have like the similar costume, different color tights. So that'll be fun. I'm going to be, I have a skeleton onesie and I've got a Michael's house. You know, I have a, a sunny onesie from Monsters Inc. My wife has the mic was asking one. So it's a game time. It's not from the playing movie. No, no, no, no. That would, that don't seem to be pretty sick. Well, you captain, no, specifically captain, so get it right. Yeah. Kyle, you could do anything. I don't think so. Saturday night. We had some, we had some a couple that basically tried to decide that we were all going to be suicide squad. And I think there were a little put off. I just said, I'm not doing that. But yeah, I don't know. There might be a, I can't be Tom Brady again. I don't know what to do. Yeah, there were a couple good years, but I don't know. I don't know. I, I make a pretty good Indiana Jones. I don't know. I don't think I brought the hat in the room. So it could be a nothing. What if you dressed up as Bill Belichack, you and C version, and the white dress up is Jordan Hudson. Oh, okay. So like big ups to her. And then I just love. Okay. Yeah, she would probably like that. She probably wouldn't know what it is. I think usually the, both people should understand the costume. Maybe I could give her a quick backstory. You have to stay in character. You have to Jeremy Scott and the entire night. She just micro manages everything around you. Yeah. Then you come home and you're still in character. And you're like, Hey, there's another party two days. Like I can't. Jeremy's strong. I was. I was hiding that. Yeah. Yeah. Our fitness buddy Jeremy Scott would never do that. Jeremy's strong. What? Okay. Couple emails here. Cousin stole my name. 511 186. Bench 235 squad 350. Held plank one time for 13 minutes in a gym competition. Wow. You guys. Those last time you guys did a plank plank. Ten years ago. Probably. That sounds good. I mean, it's like the opposite of the limitless guy. Everything just slows down for me. It's like it's like 10 seconds. Wow. Plank is just like elbows on the ground, right? And then you're just straight. Yeah. Straight. I wonder how long I could go. We did. I did get some feedback on the pull up thing. We're like, there's no way you could do a pull up. I don't weigh that much. I'm not strong. That does help me. Yeah. If you haven't done a plank in a while, those first few seconds, you're going to go, people do this. Yeah. Mike. And then you got to see I think my number's higher than I think, but we'll see if I can get a minute. Film it. Oh, man. I think I think we, I think we can do a minute. You know, I was doing minutes. Yeah. I think I was even doing two like in, you know, early college. But so you haven't done a plank in a decade and you're just signing yourself up for north to 60 seconds right now. I'm not. I'm not. I just remember I was doing it. I don't know. You know, it's not a foreign concept. I'm trying to find it. Not that long ago, there was a general agreement amongst you two that was like, Oh, a minute. Yeah. I can do a minute. I think I could do a minute. Yeah. I think I could do a one minute. Can we do it right now? Maybe we'll stream this live kind of Netflix want this content. Bad radio. Netflix is like renew these guys. See that guys plank. All right. So this guy's got 13 minutes. That's incredible. That's insane. That feels like, oh, that's a wild number like that. Yeah. Good thing. Yeah. We've got a sub five minute mile guy and a 13 minute plank guy this week. That's awesome. Yeah. It's a good, good group. Pick up comp and be Greg Odin. I may have been good, but I never really played. So we'll never know. To say that my cousin stole my name might be an overstatement or it may be an understatement. That's why I come to you. My cousin is about six or seven years younger than me. We get along quite well, but I wouldn't say he's the kind of person that I would normally hang out with. Have we not been related? We have a bit of a special bond because we went to the same college stayed in the same city. Took him under my wing. When he started going there, we live in a different, we live in different countries now, but we come from a tight-knit, large family. So when I get back to the States, we see each other for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter stuff like that. Cut to the situation for the purposes of amenity. I'll change my name to Marcus Wilder. Okay. It's really well done by the email in here because it was going to be tough to leave names out if you couldn't write. Yeah. So Marcus Wilder checking in here, which I think is pretty close to my real name without giving it away. My cousin and I share a last name. So a couple years ago, I found out that he and his wife were pregnant with their first born son due to distance and schedule conflicts. I've not yet met their son. Okay. Before the baby came out, I found out through my wife who's on social media, unlike me that they're going to name their baby Marcus Wilder as well. I understand that I don't own the name on face value. I don't think they need permission for me to name their child whatever they want. But am I wrong to think it's weird that they named their child my full name without so much as a phone call heads up? I get that they weren't naming the kid after me. Otherwise, I imagine they wouldn't, they would have given me a phone call. My cousin has said other family members that his wife always liked the name and always wanted to name their son Marcus. I just think it's a little weird. I didn't get a heads up. I'm not really sure where to go with this. I don't know what I'm going to call the kid when I see him though, but it probably won't be Marcus Wilder generally with children. You don't go first. Yeah, but understood. Just wanted the trifectus thoughts on this. When I brought it up to my immediate family, they seem to think it's a little weird. I think it's a lot weird to add to this. I've spoken to him over the phone a couple of times in the past few years and he's just casually said Marcus this, Marcus that, but never brought up even jokingly that we have the same name. Anyway, just want your opinion on this. Should they have given me a call? Am I overreacting? At this point, it's done and dusted. I don't expect them to change the name or anything. Yeah, probably not, man. I also think it could be weird to bring it up to him the next time I see him. So I won't be doing that. I know when I see this kid in person, I'm not going to be able to call him Marcus. Can you think of any subtle jab names? I can call him. Always the kid did nothing wrong. Well, thanks for clarifying that. Take it out of the kid. We just got a normal guy here. Very good. Yeah, a funny nickname or something I can say offhand that lets them know. I think it's weird that they gave him the same name as me. I don't want to be hurtful, but at the same time, it would be weird for me to call him Marcus. He gives us the real name, which I'm not going to share. He does a great job. I'm going to tell you right now, Marcus, while they're kind of nails this whole setup. Well, look, I think the important thing is you're trying to find a way to get back at like a three-year-old. Could I get some clarification? So they share a last name and he named him the first name. Okay. So they have the same name. The cousin is Abraham Wilder and they named the kid Marcus Wilder. Well, this could be the start of a nickname, right? This is where families come up with nicknames when there's two over the same whatever, you know, you get little John's, big John, little John, Markey, Mark. I don't know. It's Mark the actual first name or is that different too? Because we can't come up with nicknames, if the first name isn't real. There's a way to do the real name a different way. Like most names, you know, GMC. All right. I mean, if you're not planning on having a Mark Jr. then I mean, it shouldn't bother you as much, you know? I think an interesting thing could be when you meet the kid, you come with a gift and you're just be like, and a gift for my namesake in front of the parents. Obviously, see what comes out of that, you know? I think this is going to be weird if you don't try to get over it. If you're like, I can't call it Marcus. You're like, well, then you never, well, if you don't try to tiptoe around this, you're never going to get over it. So, you know, maybe before the kid starts remembering your actions, you try to come to terms. It's definitely weird, but like, it's done and dusted. There's really not much else you can do at this point. I just think you, like, I think June, like start calling him junior in front of the parents. Like, that's the point. That's the point. That's the point. Because then you're just like, all right, cool. You like named him after me. Like, this is my junior. Like, that would piss. Like that, that might get under their skin and that probably gets you the win that you want. And it also, you know, you might have a cool little bond with the kid as well. It's not like you're knocking him at all. It's mostly just like the subtle jab to the parent. So I think that would be a good, or when they're like, when he's walking around tables and they're like, "Markets, you're like, who me?" You could do that, you know. Just like, look, yeah, you have lips around. Like, no, actually, I'm not hungry. I'm good. Just went to the bathroom. I'm straight. That's fine. Not me. I don't think this is weird. I don't. I think the email is weird. You had a problem with this, Seruti? I don't know that I don't love my name. I don't love Steve, so I'd be like, damn bummer. You don't like your name. I don't love Steve, yeah. I don't never knew that about you. Not a big Steve guy. I don't know. We give yourself any name. What would it be? See, that's the funny thing is like, I have two girls and dude, we had like a thousand girls names. Like, you know, we could, I could have a hundred girls and I've had a hundred names. I had like, maybe one or two boys names that I like kind of tolerated. One was Jack, but everyone's name is Jack. I'm not gonna forget. I know, but it's like such a popular name. I had no, so that guy we had two girls. I don't have an answer for that. But you wouldn't be annoyed if like, you're if you have a cousin named their son, Ryan or white Ian. That would be a little weird because of my parents decision a long time ago. Although I'd say like, there's a couple college couples where I knew the wife, you know, in college and then they named their kid Ryan and I early on, I'd be like, you know, just, I want to let you know what it means to me that like every time you see your son, you think about me a little bit. And they'd be like, shut the fuck up. I didn't name my kid after you. It's not your stupid spelling. Like I was like, I, well, look, however you're spelling it, I want to raise any eyebrows. I get it to know that, you know, there's just you're never going to forget me. And that's great. And they're like, you know, they hate it. Obviously I had to stop doing that routine a couple of times and I did it. So Kyle, I feel like I interrupted you a bunch of times. Well, I just like our family, like there's a lot of like grandparents, kids, you know, some, some dad sons, but there's a couple of gyms like that skip a generation. I think to go sideways is a little strange. Like I understand what he means by that. Like if you had grandpa Mark and like, oh, we took Mark and now, you know, pick the other grandpa if you want to continue the family name thing. But yeah, go and parallel that way is is a little strange. But I mean, it's only going to be a stranger to make it. I think I agree with Ryan there. Yeah, you, I mean, you said it's a tight knit family. You've never met the kid and it's been a couple of years. You live in another country. Um, so yeah, I guess, you know, you said you everybody sees each other Christmas things. I mean, you haven't even done that. So you should be the vice uncle. I think you go. You go the good way. You be the funnest uncle. He waits for Uncle Mark to come and even though you're cousin, like you just, you're, you're fucking on candies, uh, you know, action figures, whatever. Like you are. You're the mags. Yeah, especially, especially, I don't know who's buying those now. Imagine, I guess truck agents, you like these. Yeah. I just say truck drivers about a lot of things. I like, I show up to a place of like, who's buying this? I'm like, well, maybe it's truck drivers, but I think a lot of those guys would have a hotspot in their, in their road. So, you know, we don't need any follow ups on that. Uh, I, I like what you're doing though, Kyle. I liked it. I think there's a way that you just go positive with this. You know, to have it. I know you don't think it's cool. He maybe could never go down that road, but I don't know. I mean, I, well, you want to get even with them? Yeah, this could be sick. I mean, you could be visiting him sophomore year college. You know, like, oh, dude, Mark's coming. I mean, like, you could, this could be whatever you want to. Especially with Steve doesn't like it. Steve doesn't like it at all. No, I'm not, I'm not. It's, I would get over it. I would, I wouldn't, there's no other Steve's in my family. I don't know that I can think of. So yeah, look at Goodfellas. Right. Pete's Paul. Yeah, that worked out. Z. Let's see here. Uh, I've been bullied by interns 5, 9, 180, no impressive gym stats, player comp Kyle Corver. I'm just going to run around the perimeter and make a few backdoor cuts, get smoked by any semi athletic guy with decent handles. I get you a few pokes from behind as I'm blown by though. Oh, all right. I'm a controller for a decently large private company. We recently hired two new accounting interns that I've been tasked with training them. I don't like training people. It's not something I'm typically asked to do 90% of my tasks are either a one man job or involves confidential information. People have let me ask to audit some buildings with them to show my process of working through something. We have an internal audit group that usually handles these kinds of things, but I guess they felt like this is a good opportunity to delegate their work and waste my time. Incredible opening stance. This is my first time seeing this building. It was extremely difficult to work through, which I'm guessing is why they pondered off to me. So now I have two young people sitting in my office looking over my shoulder, watching me work as I talk out loud so they can hear what I'm thinking. It's not exactly a smooth process. There's a lot of troubleshooting. I'm all over the place. I feel some type of pressure that is causing me to mistype words formulas and lose my train of thought. My backspace key has a dent in it. - This guy is. - Damn. - Pressure's gone, sweating a little bit in there and sucks. As I'm working through this audit, I notice the kid look up at me and then look down to right over and over and over again. He's sketching an image of me. He finishes his sketch, then shows it's the girl in turn, and they snicker. Man, this guy's playing a game too. Kind of can't hate them there. - What? - All right, fucks. - Let me just, we'll address this here in a second. I looked towards him and make eye contact as I explained something. I mainly just wanted to get a glance of his sketch. Well, I did and it wasn't exactly flattering. I chose not to call him out, but I get pissed. And I'm not really good at hiding it. I told him to break for lunch and we'll circle back afterward after lunch. I chose to tell them I'm busy with other shit. We'll touch base tomorrow. The next day comes, they ask if we can continue. I choose to ignore them. - You slunk out? Oh, man. - I have my wife calls quote TV watching face. I sometimes squint with a somewhat disgusted look when I look at a screen. I think we all know exactly what that is. That's perfect. I'm fully aware and know I probably look foolish from time to time. I'm also on my way to baldness and some have choked about the shape of my head. Jesus buddy, hang in there, right? Some argue I'm holding on, but I'm just making a slow transition just one from a three to a two. I would say I'm currently an easy target for the shit talk and friendly banner we have in the office. I give it so I should be able to take but not from some fucking interns I've never met. Should I have called them out? Is it the right move to continue to ignore them and hope they have difficult time getting at a difficult time getting them to swing at things? (laughing) Just say the asshole and young people and finish the audit with them. This guy's also six eight. I'm 30 years old and again, five nine. I don't know many six eight guys that are sketch artists. Yeah, damn. Feel like generally sketch people I've seen or on the shorter side. I would, I don't have any signs. I would bet money that that's accurate. But anyway, I don't know if that's relevant information. Anytime somebody's six eight, it's relevant. I'd love to hear your thoughts and go Tigers. Okay. This guy's got a little Jim Pam thing going on with the, with his partner. You might have to Michael Scott boom roasted him. I don't know, you might have to put a lot of effort into this. I mean, you had an opportunity when you saw all this stuff. I told everybody Michael had a small penis and thought that was relevant. (laughing) So don't forget, let it get there. We can't, we can't nip this in the butt, dude. I think he had the chance when he noticed that he was the butt of a joke. They're openly laughing in front of him that disrespect. Like that was kind of the chance. And then, and then you kind of like didn't do anything for two days, you're avoiding them. I mean, you gotta take your power back here, man. You gotta stand your ground. They need you to finish this. They're hoping they get he, they, you know, they get brought on or they get good marks or whatever. I don't know, I mean, you, you know how the inner workings of the office work and, I mean, there's gotta be something you could do to hit back here. I can't believe he did a sketch of you in front of you. She braided the pin, it's unbelievable. - But it's kind of, it's kind of incredible though, at the same time, isn't it? 'Cause like she obviously is what you need, like she. - No, I'm just saying she ate that up and like this isn't, this is the, I've been around like a, like as an older, not I wasn't like necessarily this guy's with an intern situation, but like when we were at ESPN, there was like working on a show, wasn't your show run. And there was like a younger kid and a girl and they clearly were like, there was a thing going on. And just like the dynamic day to day I was entertained, like him trying to kind of pursue her and she was interested, but like whatever. And the things that he would do, like I actually enjoyed it, but I wasn't necessarily the butt of the joke in the situation. So there can be enjoyable parts of this and I kind of, they can find the on air people. - They weren't, they weren't, this one kid was kind of made fun of a good amount, which is funny too. Even though he was bad at his job. - So either it was pursuing? - Yeah, he was kind of the butt of everybody else's jokes, but he was in a lovable way, like he wasn't like a bad dude. - But it wasn't good at his job, you said? - Yeah, yeah, he was pretty good. And you know, she was probably out of his league, they were both younger. And it was, I don't know, it was like an interesting thing, it was an interesting dynamic to watch. I mean, we could always just go back to the OG term, like if you want to just call him a virgin at some point, like is he going to go to HR on you? Like maybe. - Hey, go, go, run this up to accounting, right? - All virgin in front of her, that might knock him down a few pegs, but. - Yeah, you don't want to abuse the power of your job. - There are real dynamics here. There's got to be some way you can get this upper hand back. 'Cause now it's in your head, you're talking about shape of your head, like are they gonna come for that next? Like you gotta, you have to get to a place where you're just feeling confident. Like these kids are, they got you on the ropes right now. You know, you know the right way to poke back, but. - Well, was it, was it the, remember those kids that kept like going on the field, the email that we got like a long time ago and the guy was like, what do I do? And there's just, there's just kind of like, not a lot of stuff that you could like, really like ethically do, as is what they're doing. - These people like need to be here. They could like slowly poke up their future. - Yeah, I don't know. - I don't really blame the email for not knowing what to do in this spot. Because I, here's, you obviously want to do something. Something has to be done. This isn't, this isn't like the other email where you go. - Yeah. - This I cannot abide. - Yeah, so we have to figure out what this guy can do. And so I don't know if you invite him back and be like, all right, go ahead. You ready to go here again, you know, van go, whatever, like just, let it be known. But that's such an incredibly bold move. Like I'm an intern. I want to, like the Pam Jim thing is a great call by you guys to then go like, so what's going on here? You're fucking interns. You have to shadow me and you're going to start drawing some shitty sketches of me right in front of me thinking that I wasn't going to notice this. But you also don't want to go so overboard that you then become uncladily. - Happy hour topic, dude. Like they're just getting out of work. You're at the topic for 90 minutes, I don't want that. - Yeah, I don't, I don't really know how to play this one. Not a big HR guy, so I don't think you want to do that. But then as you point out, you don't want to put yourself in a situation where then you end up, because, you know, if he's an artist and he's six, eight, that makes me think he's more likely to report you to HR. - Especially if you were to say something like, hey, you think this is going anywhere, but you just kind of like call him out in front of her. So yeah, obviously don't want to do any of that stuff. Do you reverse sketch it? Draw a hand like having, yeah, have him sit down and then be like, you just draw massive sticks and limbs all over the place. Can you quiz the shit out of them? I mean, that seems kind of lame, I just, I don't know. Like, I can't believe he did it, I almost don't think it's real, but it's real because it's so specific. I think the first paragraph is so good that I'm like, all right. This is one of the few I'd be like, dude, in the cut, drop something in the comments, I'd never say that, but I'm kind of stumped. I wonder if the, I don't even know what I'm gonna ask you to do that. I said it, I'm not taking it out. - What's the end game for the internship thing, too? Like are these kids getting jobs? Is it like, or is it just like, hey, you're here? - What's this guy's review going to be? - Yeah, imagine having an internship of a place that was like somewhat important, and it's like, all right, you know, six months are up for however long. It's like, all right, you're gonna, so did you take a sketch of the guy you were shadowing when you were doing an audit? Yeah, I sketch. I like to doodle. - Yeah, that's my bad. - You're hired. - We're looking for some more creativity here. You're in. (laughs) I like that your criticism wasn't verbal to your coworker. - Yeah. - Are you a visual learner? - Yeah, I don't, something has to be done, but I think you finding a way to be cool about it is the only win. And so maybe the next time they shadow you, you reference it, and you just go like, hey, you fucking chalk-ready, buddy. (laughs) I like that. - I like that. - Or you maybe even go to an arts and crafts place and set up a little palette for them. - Yeah, that's right. - Do you wanna, can you work off of this canvas? 'Cause these are watercolors, I don't know if you're an oil guy, but I just wanted to set it up. And you just don't. - This is basically a card stock, dude. I dropped the money on this one. - Yeah. - Make this one count. - That sounds expensive, actually. So it might not be worth it. But you just give them that look. You set up his little art corner and be like, do you wanna stand over here and get a better shot at me this time, and it's gonna embarrass the fuck out of him in front of her, and it's kind of funny. And then you just go right back to whatever it was that you were doing, never to be addressed again. - Yeah, no, that's a good call. - Also, the more nerdy approaches, maybe you could take a look at this thing that you're doing. Like you said, this account was, you're like stumbling over this account. You're probably like, you're not operating from a place of confidence. - It's a hard audit. - Yeah, I know, it's a hard thing. - Maybe you just take a look at it at home or at work when they're not there. So when you come in there, you're already operating from a place of confidence, 'cause it sounds like you're already down here, and then you hear some snickering, and you see an unflattering photo of you, like you're way down here, man. So I mean, maybe it's worth doing the extra work when they're not around so that you're, you know, you're not fumbling over this thing that may lead to a squinty face or whatever you've got. I don't know, I was gonna say if they were dating, you could then go on her Instagram profile and just like 20 of her pictures in a row. That usually causes a conversation. - Speaking of HR, that's, that's it. - Yeah, probably not. - Then your wife will be at the dinner. - You might let your job shift together. - Yeah. (laughing) - All right. I think that'll do it. I think that'll do my mother's show today. Good note to end on. I think, I don't know, 100% sure.
