In the inaugural episode of "Lackluster Video," hosts Finn Wolfhard and Billy Brick introduce their podcast dedicated to discussing films—whether they exist, don’t exist, or perhaps shouldn’t. The tone is casual and humorous, with the duo sharing personal stories about their eating habits, including Finn’s quirky way of eating hot dogs and Billy’s shawarma purchase, which leads to jokes about food hygiene and restaurant mishaps. They also touch on the COVID-19 pandemic, noting their separation across Canadian cities. The conversation quickly shifts to movie pitches, inventing absurd titles like "Venom: Blue Denim" and "My Big Fat Japanese Greek Wrestling." The main focus is a review of "The Nice Guys" (2016), a buddy cop film directed by Shane Black, starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. Both hosts praise its humor, 1970s aesthetic, and performances, particularly Gosling’s comedic timing. They lament its lack of a sequel and jokingly start a campaign to get Warner Bros. to produce one. The episode also includes playful references to other films, such as "The Wrestler" and "Iron Man 2," with a spoiler about the former. Overall, the podcast aims to be a relaxed, movie-centric chat, blending personal anecdotes with film analysis, and sets the stage for future episodes with a mix of genuine enthusiasm and comedic improvisation.

This is a head gum podcast. Alright, hello everybody. Welcome to the first episode of our podcast, "Lackluster Video", where we'll be talking about films that exist, that don't exist, or maybe that shouldn't exist. I'm Finn Wolfhard, maybe you know me from movies and stuff, if not, that's cool. I'm here joined by my co-host, Billy Brick. Hello. We're just going to be shooting the shit, talking to some friends about movies, talking about life, talking about a lot of things. Yeah, just kind of generally, we're kind of just genuinely moving nerds, so we're excited to talk about them and kind of just go for it on that front. Just get right into it. Just make some movies up. Talk about movies that are coming up. Alright, man, I already come on, man. Alright, so I'll do the intro now. Okay, cool. Hey guys, it's me, Finn. No. You may know me from movies and TV shows, such as "How Met Your Mother". No. Yes. No. Yeah. "How Met Your Mother" spin off as teens where Finn plays a young Ted Moes be. Yes. I've actually never seen that show before. But yeah, it's weird. We're really lucky to be doing this because we're really happy that Jake and Amir, let us do this. And yeah, I don't know. Hopefully everyone will like it. I'm in Vancouver right now, Billies and Toronto. We're two Canadian boys, but we're for a bit. It's a Romeo and Juliet type situation. We're for a bit to see each other because of this fucking, what is it called, COVID? Yeah. Yeah, it's called COVID. Or something. Or something. Or something. Or something. Or something. Or something. Or something. Yeah. It's called COVID. Or something. Or something. I'm eating a pop. You know, contrary to belief, I, people say you shouldn't eat during a podcast, but I'm eating a pop pop. And nobody would ever know. I wouldn't know unless you just told me right now. I'm going to close my eyes and talk and I'll see if I can tell what flavor pop chart it is. Okay, hey, I'm Finn. How's it going? I like pop chart. I don't know. I don't even think it's a pop chart in your mouth. I think your mouth is as dry as a, dry as this a hard desert. It is. It is. It is dry as this hard desert because there's no water in my mouth and this fucking pop chart is dry as the absolute, you're right. The so hard desert. You're right. You're absolutely right. There's, that's the dryest thing that's the dryest place I know. So what you didn't, you didn't go out for, I heard you had a nice dinner plan or something. I did go to dinner with my friend. I ended up, I ended up eating a giant pizza because I haven't been, I don't know, I've been, I wanted to eat a lot like in Toam full. Sometimes I'll eat meals and I'm like, I'm not that full, but today I was like, I'm going to eat until I feel like I'm going to explode. So I ate a frozen pizza, an entire frozen pizza and then we needed to record this and then I went to my friend's house and they had this huge spread laid out that was like the most fancy food ever and they're like, I'm used to excited to eat it and I like forced myself to eat like four bites of a burger that was like delicious and I couldn't, so now I'm just eating a fucking pop chart. So that just shows you that I'm like, I just eat like shit and I feel, I'm like, you do, you do eat terribly. That's what I will say that you eat, Finn eats weirder than diet wise and actual technique of eating that I've ever seen anybody eat in my entire life. I've seen Finn eat a hot dog from the top. Someone just, from the top of the hot multiple times, on multiple occasions, the first time we hung out Finn was eating a hot dog like it was a corn on the cob. Someone described me eating as a T-Rex picking apart its prey. We're just sure I use my hands. It's fuck man. I don't know. I eat weird and I eat like weirdly. I just have a sour cheese, sour cheese and hot dogs like corn. Yeah. Hey man. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it ain't broke, don't yeah, if I'm not dead then. It's been said in 12 days but I don't know. Yeah, I'm still breathing. Yeah, it hurts like a bitch but I'm getting a lot of work done. And oh fucking, Finn actually really tired legit. Our one plan was just, when we were recording, just get straight into the movies. So this is good. Yeah. With that being said, for dinner for me, I went on a walk to a Shorma's place because they were having a two, get two chicken Shorma wraps for about $13 plus tax. How would you know, that's very, how would you, okay, that's cool. How do I know that that's the deal that they have on Monday's? Yeah. I don't know how to answer that. I just know that's just the deal. That's the deal they have. Deal. Tuesdays get two fluff wraps for $8. Good deal. That's Canadian money too. Whoa. We all know that that's like gold. Yeah. It's, it was good man but the only, my, well actually, I had two slight quombs. The food was good but my, the guy making the wrap seemed like he had a runny nose or he was about to sneeze the entire time which was really nerve wracking. Did he? No, but I actually, that's not, it wouldn't be the first time I had a Shorma. One time there was a guy making a Shorma and I literally saw a trail of snot like drinking out of his nose and he sniffed it back up and then finished making my wrap. Since I've gone older, I've always, I've always heard of like friends being like, oh, the waiter probably spent in your food and I've been like, aha, that doesn't happen. And then I realized that like 100% there's been some disgusting shit in my food from, from the cooks. Like there's no way that there's not. Yeah, I think he got it. Well, are you rude to them? I don't understand. No, no, yeah, yeah. Every time I go in a restaurant, I might be like, hey, can I get this and fuck you? Yeah. No, I think, I don't know. Some like, I've been meeting Subway, some guy, your girl, you know, I don't, I don't judge. You think in Subway, they spit, they're making it right and funny. They're making the stuff right and funny. When would they have spit in it without you? Those are the ones I'd turn around for a second. You go to Subway, that's the last place that they would spit in your food. Like Benny Hanna is the only place less likely to be the Subway for them to spit in your food. Benny out of the sleight of Benny Hanna. He's sparing my food at Benny Hanna. When they're doing that. And flick, then he caught the spit on the little thing and then fucking put it back in. He chopped it back up and yeah, mixed it in with an egg. And then he went to hand me this bit and kept pulling it away from me at the last second. And I was like, no, I want it. I want to eat it. So that was our dinner. Oh, one more thing. I paid it. I think, and this is just a small thing. Is this worth it? This is worth it because, I mean, I don't want to get political, but I'm just going to say what everybody's thinking. Okay. In these trying times that we're in as far as COVID and coronavirus go, I think you've got a mandate. If you're doing cashless, if we're living in the cashless world right now, you got every debit machine should have tap. Whoa. I shouldn't have to type it in, you know, because I don't know. That is controversial. Dude, I don't like to have that out. I don't like to pay. Do you know how they do the checking account or saving account like you pick which account? Yeah. If one or if four or whatever. I never pay with my savings. This isn't worth it. Because, you know, they're savings. I'm trying to keep them. The button for checking account was so greasy. I almost paid with my savings. I was like, you got to wipe the machine off. That feels like rule number one, but it was good. It was good. Good food. I was going to eat while I was going to put one in the fridge. You delayed it. I got a weird, I got a weird like fever and dry cough out of the mat. I'm feeling, and I'm pretty good. Good. Yeah. I was going to say that's the end of our podcast. Thank you for our sponsor, Diesel Jeans. Diesel Jeans. When the hugger's right, put on some tights. Yes. Yeah. Diesel's proud sponsor of Head Yum. This movie is brought to you by Diesel Jeans Venom to In Denom. Nice. Nice. Oh, nice. Nice. To Venom Blue Denom. Yeah. Oh, starring Tom Hardy. Oh man, where are he in? Starting Ed Hardy T-shirt to top my Diesel Jeans. We already fucking pitched me a movie that shouldn't exist. Yeah. That's one. That's the count. That's number one. One other two other small things, just because I was feeling good on my walk. There's no issues like a beautiful data. How do you get music going? I saw two funny signs. Number one, there's all this construction by a subway station. Guess what the construction company was called? I don't know. Butcon. Nice. The UTTCO went. Whoa. Objectively hilarious. I don't know why they picked it. So funny. And then I was walking by this burger spot and this little printout of the Japanese flag caught my attention. And I looked and I live in Greaktown in Toronto and they're doing a Greak Japanese wrestling night. It's specific, but I'm not judging. Yeah. No, the crossover that, yeah, I mean, I didn't know it existed either, but I'm definitely going to go on August 3rd. I took a pic. I'll send you it. Yeah, it's like Greak guys. Whoa. It's the Japanese flag because they all seem pretty Greek. You can say Greak wrestling. Everyone is Greak. Yeah, that's funny. But, yeah, so I mean, that, that sounds pretty fun. Yeah. Wow. Greak wrestling. That's another movie. There's another movie too. We're in two. Yeah. Venom II. Blue denim. Dude, blue denim. Yeah, Venom II, blue denim on my and hearty shirt. And my freaking, my big fat Japanese Greak wrestling. Nice! Holy shit, I would that move even go. - Oh wait, good segue, how would that move even go? - How would that move even go? I honestly, I haven't seen my big fat Greek wedding - The wedding wedding. - My name's called, right? - Yes it is. - So I couldn't tell you for sure how I could do a spin on that, but just off the top of my head, my big fat Japanese Greek wrestling, it would probably be like a less family-friendly, natural Libre. - Ah, it's how I would pitch it. - Right, yeah 'cause he's instead of Jack Black. - Yeah, just beating the shit out, ultra violent beating the shit out of people. - Or maybe it's part of the Mickey Rourke, the wrestler universe. - Or you know what it is, the W's. - At the, you know, the free stream at the end of the wrestler where he jumps off and he don't know he's gonna die or not. - No, spoilers. - What, I haven't watched it. - Fuck off, the movie's been out for like 15 years. - I know, but I've been, it's on my watch list. Did I actually just spoil that for you? - Yeah, I didn't know that he could die or not at the end. I actually, I sound sarcastic, but I'm being serious. I mean, I probably wasn't gonna watch it any time soon. - I don't feel bad, I don't feel bad. I'm sorry, I don't, the wrestler too, the Wrangler, jeans. - No, nice. - Nice. - It's from 2008. - It's the denim trilogy. - Yeah, but who cares? - It's so true to that. - It's so 3,000 late. - You're 2000 late. - He is. - The wrestler too, featuring Jason Momoa. Are you kidding me? - Is that a thing? - The wrestler ending is still a, is still perfect 10 years later. - Oh man, this looks great. I love Mickey Rourke, man. I love specifically, well, specifically, I guess, yeah, specifically young Mickey Rourke, but he's the man. Have you seen Public Branch Village, Finn? - I haven't. - No. - Have you seen Rumble Fish? - I have not seen Rumble Fish either. - No. - Dude, he is the man. Probably the coolest guy, maybe, to every little. - A lot of other people, but. - Yeah, I mean. - No, I'm one guy. - James Dean? - No. - No. - Billy Brick. - No. - Wow. I really wanted to feed you that. I really wanted you to go. You know what, man? Yeah, you're right, but wow. You really, you doubled down. - I'm different. - I'm different than James Dean, but I don't know about a young Mickey Rourke. I don't know about that. - Dude, you said he froze in mid-air. Maybe about to die? What? I can't do that. (laughs) - Well, that's him old. - Yeah. - Um, he's, he looked pretty cool, man. Also from Iron Man 2. - Yeah, the shocker Roman fuckers name is? - Yeah. - The shocker. I just saw a clip from Iron Man 2 where Elon Musk is in it, and they say, they would always say, "Mr. Musk, how are you?" And he says, "I want to build a, "just something fucked, like I want to build a pirate ship "or something like that." And they're like, "Okay, you want?" - In Iron Man 2. - Yeah. - Yeah, that's one I haven't seen since the theater. Apparently though, in Iron Man 3, which I have seen, which is great, which is great, yep. - They have that same, the line in the night skies where they go, or what? And he goes and he'll stop doing it. And he goes doing what? And he grabs him and he grabs his tie and smash his face against the table? - Right. - Apparently that exact thing happens in the, in Iron Man 3. - It's like he just reused it. - Yeah, it's just like a fun nod to his other film, I guess. - Well, that's a good, that's a good segue. - That's a great segue. - Billy, so Billy and I have watched a good, yeah, are you impressed at yourself? - Yeah, I mean, yeah. I guess you were pretty high on this segue, I just was expecting, you know what? Fuck it, maybe I am cooler than young and a keyboard. - All right, man. - I can't, I'm just gonna keep talking so that you think about it less. - Yeah, like the cool quiet type. - No, yeah. - You keep, yeah, you can't talk and all, maybe I'll chime in with like a quick one-liner here and there, just gonna like, just remind you that I'm still here and I don't really care, but I care enough that I'm listening. - Right, yeah. Okay. Yeah, Billy and I are, we're getting each other to watch movies that we had seen before. Billy got me to watch The Nice Guys, which I hadn't seen, Shane Black, Run Direct, and I got Billy to watch an incredible movie called Windy City Heat, which he'll talk about, but I guess first let's talk about The Nice Guys, which came out in 2016 written directed by Shane Black, as I said before, Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as the leads. And it's great, it's just, it's a buddy cop kind of movie, or more private investigators and these two kind of guys get, - Whatever. - Codd. (laughing) I'm sorry, you talking, you told me to watch this movie. - Are you still talking? - Yes. - Are you still talking about The Nice Guys? - Yes. This is why you freaking finish last. - Because The Nice Guys finish last? - Yeah, because The Nice Guys finish first. That's actually our show. Thank you, Diesel Jeans for sponsoring us. - Yeah, dude, let's talk about The Nice Guys. - I love this movie. - Well, cute, I was already talking about The Nice Guys. - I know, but let me hand it over to you. - I'm fine, you're talking. - I'll put it on it to you. - You kind of remind me of the guy, and like our dynamic kind of feels like, Ryan Gosling and his daughter. So you kind of remind me of Holly. - I'm in that way. - I'm, all right, fuck, it's fine. Just talk about it. - So yeah, what did you say? 2016, Shane Black, it's a great buddy cop, private investigator movie set in Los Angeles in the 70s. And it's about this conspiracy with this porn actress dies. And they both kind of get roped into it for different reasons and have to work together. And there's this big conspiracy. And it's great and it's a ton of fun. And Shane Black wrote the "Litha Weapon" movies and he made-- - Kiss, kiss, bang, bang, bang. - I am in three. So he's great and it's just a ton of fun. It's really funny. It looks great. Ryan Gosling is the best. He's my favorite actor and he's so funny. - He is, he is, he really people don't give him enough credit. I mean, like everyone-- - Yeah, this is fun. Gosling guys pretty underrated. - Yeah, he's pretty, yeah. We discovered him actually. - Yeah. - Yeah, you know, I saw this a little movie called "The Nice Guys" and you know, this guy Ryan Gosling goes, "Who is this guy?" - Who is this kid? - This guy's got to do more. - Yeah. - But no, I mean, yeah, he has incredible comedic timing and he's just the man. I honestly think he's one of the best living actors right now. - I think you have me too. Do you know that we're born in the same hospital? - You and Gosling? - Yeah, well no, not technically. We're not gonna rub it in. I mean, I believe it. He's not terrible. - He was born in the same hospital as like three of my friends, but my parents took me to the hospital on the other side of town. - Oh, the wrong hospital. - It took me to the non-Gosling hospital. - Gosling, Bieber, my friend Matt, all born in the same hospital. But Bieber, yeah. - And Matt, and my friend Matt. - I'm sorry. - Yeah. - Which Matt? - Matt, Matt he downs. - No, yeah, but you haven't met him. - I was like, how would you know Matt? He was born in fucking, I don't know, Matt was born? - No, I don't. - No, yeah, my hospital's lame as shit. It's just like knee-freaking young Mickey Rork and James Dean. - Yeah, he was born there in the Ontario hospital. - Yeah, he was pretty young. - But yeah, I mean, that was great. This just, it looks great. Like it's set in the 70s, so it's got incredible set design, incredible wardrobe, great music. - Great music. - And it, dude, and it was, it came out and I guess it was, they've made it for what, 50 million, you said? - 50 million. - 50 million. - It's just like, - It's like, - It's like, - People didn't really go see it. - And people didn't really go see it. And I, including me, I didn't see it. And like, Billy's been trying to get me to watch it forever. And I just, not that I haven't wanted to watch it. I just haven't gone around to it. And I finally did. And I was so forward by it. I loved it so much. And I was so bummed because I wanted to see another sequel. I wanted to see it. - It's not too late. - It's not too late. - It's not too late, Finn. - I know. - This is our official campaign to start social media. - Yeah. - Shit storm. - Yeah. - Where essentially we demand to. I'll actually look up who, I think it was, was it Warner Brothers? - Yeah, it was Warner Brothers because they did the cool, they did the cool 70s logo that thing that they do. - The plan is to harass, Warner Brothers until they make the nice guys too. And hopefully if they listen to us, then we get, I don't know, executive producer credits, writing credits, replace, - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - No, depending on the schedule. 'Cause Gossling's doing the wolf man, right? So if we can't, yeah. - Right, right. - Then it's kind of replace him with a wolf man, not you, but a me type wolf man. - Okay. - When he has nothing to do with the wolf. - Okay. - And we would have to later the crow. - You're the crow. - Okay, I'll take it. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Yeah, what's called, yeah, there's just fucking, there's great comedic moments in the movie. Like there's a scene where they go. This kid takes them to this crime scene or to this burnt out house and they're like investigating it and played by Jack Kilmer, who's a, so he's the man, who's the man. - He's so funny. - He's so funny. - He plays a guy named Shit, this kind of just airheaded projectionalist, too. - Yeah, he calls himself a projectionist. - He calls himself a projectionist. - Very outstarts of this very, what do they call it? They're like kind of experimental films. - Yeah, he calls them experimental films, but it's just, - And he's the projectionalist. - He's hilarious. - He's great and he's really funny and everything. And the cast is awesome. It's Margaret Kuali. - Mar of Kuali, yeah. - She's the best. - Kim Bassinger. - Amazing, yeah. - Dude, it's, it's Crum, it's Robert Jenner Jr. is in it in an unrecognizable cameo. - Is he? - You might not even have known that was him. I don't even know what to say who he plays. - Okay, well then, - a little bit of a spoiler, but after we hang up, I'll let you know who he plays. - But the cast is amazing. It's the best. - So watch it. - We need a sequel. - Yeah, tweet at our, tweet at Tag Us and Tag Warner Brothers for Nice Guys, too. And when this podcast comes out, if you're listening to it on whatever medium you want, our Twitter will be there, which we haven't made yet, but it'll be there. Tag us tag us and tag one of our brothers get the nice guys to go We watched a movie together called wobble palace which a friend made a kind of mutual friend But I respect him so much. He's just as Eugene I fucking I always fuck up his last name, so I don't even want to pronounce it I what does mutual friend mutual friend meet friend of a friend yes you but he's not a mutual friend of ours Because I am not his friend Eugene caught our ankle Eugene. I'm sorry if I fucked up your last name But I talked to the guy a lot. He's such an incredible filmmaker and a young dude and made this movie for like no money called wobble palace with this friend Dasha Yeah, well, he's I was gonna spend his mutual friend because my friend Joe Kiery's and Shrinder things did a movie with him Calls Spree and my other like best friend named Josh Ovala was also in his incredible comedian and filmmaker was also in that movie So two of my friends were in a movie that Eugene directed Eugene had did a past movie called wobble palace We're talking about now you know if spree what's going on with that? I don't know, but I saw it I think it's genius, so hopefully hopefully it comes out Cuz yeah, yeah, well, I will But you know so many movies just got messed up by COVID so Everyone's kind of figuring it out, but Yeah, he made this movie called wobble palace And it's about it's said over this weekend about this couple who are in just started an open relationship But it's obvious that they're super unhappy and they just kind of want to break up and it's just kind of about the unraveling of their relationship Set in a weekend, so Eugene kind of he plays a character of the same name He you know who's great. He plays such a really he plays a really funny really cringy kind of character who just tries so hard to be loved And that's kind of what his character is he just just trying so hard and failing And they own this house together Eugene and Dash are they on this house? And so they kind of say all right over relationship Eugene gets Saturday, Dash gets Sunday So Eugene it follows the two days and what ensues and it's just this really great kind of LA Billy was comparing it to like a newer swingers They took my that was my Drop that as if it was a thought that I was just having now yeah, but that was a really interesting thing for you to know what actually I was just thinking now it kind of reminds me of like a new swingers. Do you think oh no? Yeah, yeah, totally. Yeah, I Yeah, that's really interesting. Oh, that's a really interesting thought Billy. I'm gonna elaborate. Okay Well, yeah, I do say that because when I was watching it I've been convinced me to watch it a little bit. I wanted to watch something else. I don't remember specifically what no like you know I don't yeah, I don't even remember film that we watched but it really is kind of like it's set now It's about these artists and these millennials and they're trying so hard and they're just their lives are so you know dominated by social media and stuff like that. It's a very very very contemporary movie Even in a good way now it's sometimes I'm a little bit thrown off by when people try and make something to Like 20 at 20 19, but I mean this really It's dated in a way. It's like already kind of dated in the sense that it's so yeah Reliant on like what was going on in that exact time although I think it actually was set in 2016, right? But it's yeah, it's all yeah, yeah, but the thing that I love about is that it's all it's all on purpose Like I'll just say everything for a reason and it's all like all the references are there for a reason It's not just a reason Twitter am I right like it's it's so not like that The reason why it doesn't bother me is because it's so it's so singular. They pick that time periods like so Specifically and it kind of doesn't matter like it just matters to the characters. It's also got a great I really I really Bill I think Billy has this in common with me. I really hate when movies have text conversations or Like there's just something phony about it There's something funny about it, but Eugene Eugene opens the movie with he sets up the characters so well through literally a text Conversation over music and it's done so well Yes, it's pretty awesome And that's and he just get the characters immediately just by this text conversation that's shown so Yeah, and anyways, yeah Jack Kilmer plays a really funny role and it's kind of a smaller It's kind of just a smaller slice of life movie that I think is really and I think Eugene's gonna make a lot of Amazing movies So that was another movie we watched that was great and then I made Billy watch a movie called Wendy City Heat which I'm not even I'm gonna get Billy to describe it because he's he was a first-time watcher And I'll get him to describe it. Yeah, I'll Well, I'll say I'll say this but I don't even I just watch it everybody should just watch it It's it's on YouTube and it's 90 minutes and it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my entire life But pretty much it's a documentary film That is just of two guys pranking their friend who is a lunatic into thinking that he books the lead in this action movie so every single person In the entire film except for the lead of it is in on the prank and he thinks he's booked this part Is this is this detect this sports detective? Yeah, this is a guy. Yeah, so funny And essentially they make a full fake movie around him and just Embarrass him and prank him in the most genius ways for months months And the movie is not real like the literally the entire point of it is just to film them pranking their friend and The stuff that they put this guy through first of all he pretty much has coming to him But second of all is the most like diabolically genius mastermind prank stuff like just so I don't It's so amazing about it. It's so smart and I love those I love prank videos I love but this is John's when they do pranks, but this is taking it to Just another level the next leg is a level I've never even thought of it's it's amazing I mean, yeah, you guys gotta you should watch it. It's on YouTube. I don't know really what else to say about the movie Well, yeah, well, I was gonna say it's Going off that it's like the parry is the main character is Is this guy who you feel really bad for at the beginning and? As you go further you're like oh this guy deserves everything that's coming to him and The thing that's great about it that sets the stakes up which I won't even I won't give away any bits or anything but Essentially he says at the beginning I will do anything to be famous anything So that immediately you cut and they could do anything to him and if it means You know he has to do something in saying okay. Let's do the let's do the dumpster bit We'll tell them about the dumpster. Yeah, it's a pretty perfect Representation the type of thing that they're putting him through. Yeah, so do you want to you want to? Yeah, so they're shooting a scene that doesn't the fake movie of the fake movie that doesn't exist Bobcat gold the way to real directors really and plays himself But a different version of it's like a dumber version of himself. He's like a director of the movie Perry has no idea how show business works. He has no idea who anyone is so they can kind of just he so like ignorant to everything that you can kind of just fuck with him and do whatever they want to him and So they do this he was like wants to be macho and I do his own stunts and so they throw him into the dumpster And he has to say this line that's I don't even fuck remember what the line is Oh, yeah, I'm getting I'm getting to I'm getting too old for this shit and so they say cut and Bobcat gold the way it comes out and he goes yeah, I don't know like it just looks too clean the dumpster looks too clean Let's get some like shit you find in the back alley actually no, let's get some like crap Let's get some poop Stuff like like like like like like you want some shit and he's like no like actual shit like a horse manure I mean started and Perry's like what no, I don't want to I don't want that. I don't know He's freaking yeah, he's freaking out. He's like you're gonna give me poop and he's like well you want it to be real right and Perry is so like we'll just do anything that he's like yeah, I guess I guess so so they literally they throw him into the dumpster just in this into real horse manure and It cuts and Perry's in a confessional and they're He's no my favorite cuts in the whole movie and they're they're talking to him and what is he saying again? He goes yeah, so he's like let's get some shit in there's like no no shit That's gonna be crazy and the director goes well, you know, we wanted to look real and then they put the Throw him and shit and it cuts and it's Perry covered in a horse shit and he goes the important thing about acting is that it's real making his real and it's literally covered in shit and just so Desperately wants to be right and cruel in this part that he's literally willing to be getting thrown into shit and then that prank Is like the seed that sets up this other moral abort prank later on and it's just such a blast. It's so fun So definitely definitely check it out I don't have to yeah, I'm not we can't we can't because there's so many great bits in that movie that just are amazing and the fact that you can do that to another human for that long is truly like it's I know they it's other it's no one's ever done it no one's ever done it the same. I don't think anyone will ever top it I think it's one of the most under it. I don't not enough people have seen it But Bill it's the diesel jeans. Yeah, yeah, it's the next echelon Yeah, when they said it couldn't be done diesel said watch me just watch for I mean whatever the Speaking of which this podcast this podcast is brought to you by diesel genius diesel genius watch me *laughs* Yeah, no, yeah, I think you should watch a movie. I originally found out that movie from Justin Reuiland, who's the creator of Rick and Morty. It's pretty incredible. Um. Yeah, I'm trying to think of all the movies we watched like. We watched a ton of movies in the last like few weeks just because of where we're at, like just in the world. *laughs* What else do we watch anything else? Yeah, well we just watched that Japanese film, um, one cut of the dead. Oh man. Yeah. That's another one. That one. That one we can't. we really can't talk about that one because it's. I mean we can talk about it but we can't like give away how the movie works because it's. It's so different. Um. But it's essentially. It's insane. Yeah, because Japanese movie that was made for $25,000. Um. It's this zombie movie. It's about. Well the synopsis is. It's about, um, a film crew is making a zombie movie and then they inadvertently trigger the zombie apocalypse. And then they have to deal with that. But that is. But it's the tip of the iceberg. Yeah, it's not the movie. It isn't what the movie is. That's. Essentially the movie is very different for the first 35 minutes than it is for the rest of the movie. But that sets up. It's done very purposely to set up the rest of the movie. So I would say do not give up on the movie because. Honestly the first 35 minutes are bad. Or not very good. There. Well that's the whole. So we can't. We literally. I mean we can't give it away because it's. But it's honestly. It's such an incredible third act and. And. Well second and third act because. Yeah, I would just say like. I was rolling my eyes for the first 30 minutes. I was like, "How the fuck am I gonna watch this?" "This is just so a budget and bad." And then something happens where the movie just changes and becomes one of the most genius films I've. I'm not joking. Honestly ever seen. And I give my. I do that a lot where I'm like, "That's genius." Oh like I use genius as a huge buzzword. But the movies that we're talking about today are. They're freaking diesel. They're legit diesel. And they're above genius. They're diesel. So. This movie especially, one kind of the dead. It's on shutter. You can get a free trial for shutter or you can find it somewhere else called One Cut of the Dead. Wobble Palace, you can find it on Amazon Prime. Wendy City Heat is on YouTube and then Nice Guys is on. It's not on Netflix anymore. And we will not give up until we get a sequel. The nice guys too. Cool one, diesel. Diesel. (laughs) Starring Vin Diesel. Vin. Yeah. Subgame. Sneak in the title of a Gary Busy movie without me noticing. Oh, he transfer you a dollar. Really? Yeah. And vice versa. Okay. That's. That's gonna be a hard. A will be. It's gonna be a hard like. Point to break. Fuck off. (laughs) Do you hear it or.? Yeah, of course. Oh. Dude, I've got like the eye of the tiger when it comes to that kind of. Okay. Yeah. Is that an actual. It's also a Lucy movie. Yeah. Didn't you hear? No. No, of course not. Didn't you hear as a Gary Busy movie as well? No. Oh, God, fucking dammit. Fuck. Dude, I'm just fooling around. I'm just fooling around. I'm literally just fooling around. Okay, cool. Fooling around as Gary Busy movie also. Okay. Yeah, dude. Fuck off. You're gonna make me feel like piranha-3. Double D. Dude. Let's get hairy. Oh, man. Oh, yeah. Classic. Fuckin' dude. Honestly, you're gonna make me feel like slap shot too. Breaking the. Breaking the eyes. I'm see. Okay. You and me. That's it. Is that. Is that a Gary Busy movie? I'm just being a dirty little Billy. Please don't tell me that that's a fucking Gary Busy movie. No, that's just my mom used to call me. A dirty little Billy? Really? No, it's a Gary Busy movie. God, fucking dammit. No, it's not. It is. You know what? It's in 1972. Fuck you. You already have this. The more realistic based on reality, unsensationalistic portrayal of the gritty early years of one of the most famous Wild West outlaws. Do you just. You're up in. Dylan the Diesel. Dylan the Diesel jeans. Up on Cloud 9, aren't you? Uh. no. Cloud 9 is this Gary Busy movie? I got. yeah, that's why I said, "Ah, no." Fuck you. Is fuck you a Gary Busy movie? No. No. Oh, dude. Honestly, man, I can't. We should definitely break that rough draft soon. Are script. What is this? Is this a rough draft? Go on a scientific, find out. You're kidding me if rough draft is a rough draft. No, it's real. It's real. It's real. Good. It's because you had me, man. I was like a suspicious mind of that. Yeah. Dude, I'm the fuck. I'm the fucking black sheep of the family. It's fun. I don't even know he was in black sheep. Uh. Yeah. Dude, that's. I literally got kicked away. I'm sorry. Oh, fuck off. I know that's a good Busy movie. Also. Oh, yeah. It's the real thing. Also, in the future, someone's gonna go back and be like, "You remember that episode of Finn and Billy talked about Gary Busy for like 30 minutes?" And if that of the Gary Busy was actually his uncle? That was like a weird thing. What a weird coincidence. What a weird co-inkie, Dylan. Yeah, it's like a half a lifetime to freaking realize. Okay, so we talked about the movies that we wanted to talk about. And now, I think it's time to play our parting game. This is. This is a story of a girl. The Crata River and John, the whole world. It's been. Though she looks so good in diesel jeans. Nice. Nice. We don't really have a game. I'm just gonna call it Make a Movie. There's definitely a name for it. This is the game. It's called. Yeah? Diesel presents. Okay, yeah. I know it's gonna be a diesel related. No, it's called. Why don't we just call it lackluster video? Sure. Well, welcome to lackluster video game. How may I help you? Yes. I'll tell you. So the rules are simple. Finn and I are gonna make up a movie. Or Finn's gonna make up a movie. Or I'm gonna make up a movie based entirely off of random generated celebrities. We get from the internet on a random random celebrity list generator. And a movie title, which is also randomly generated. And pretty much we're gonna pitch this movie. Yeah, so you wanna start? I'll. How many. Do you want me to start? Oh yeah, and I got. I just generated the celebrities in there. Got it? Okay, absolutely wonderful hair. But what I'll do is I'll give you the chance between to pick the genre. Because we can pick the genre part. Okay, sure. So you can get adventure, children, drama, fantasy, horror. Children. Okay, children. Here we go. Okay, this is a good one. Back to my family. The children's movie starring Sean Cums and Tubman McGuire. Holy shit. Okay. Tubman McGuire plays an intern at a music studio. Sean Cums. We're talking about Sean Cums is in P. Diddy. Puff Daddy, P. Diddy. Correct. Okay. Okay. P. Diddy plays himself. He's kind of. But in this version, he's not as famous, right? He's kind of plays himself. He's still breaking his movie? Yeah, yeah. He's still breaking in. And yeah, don't fucking interrupt my pitch. And Tubman McGuire kind of is like. He's kind of been in the quarter of the whole time. And they're like, "Man, how should we. How should we. My album's not selling well. We got to do something. We got to do something new to try to sell it better." And they say, "Hey kid, do you have any ideas?" And Tubman McGuire says, "Well, actually, I have a few." And Tubman McGuire ends up showing them his notebook. "Filled with verses." Incredible rat verses. But they're all for kids. Boom. A kid's album by P. Diddy. Now P. Diddy makes the kids up, all written by Tubman McGuire, featuring Tubman McGuire. Tubman McGuire also is not Tubman McGuire in the movie. His name is John. And then the album comes out and they do this tour where they read the lyrics to kids in libraries and stuff like that. Tubman McGuire meets a kindergarten teacher. They fall in love. P. Diddy is kind of the third wheel and gets really jealous. And it's just kind of about these two guys, this friendship. And, you know, Tubman McGuire's never really had a family per se until he found Puff and he found this woman that he fell in love with. So, back to his family he goes. That was good. Thanks. That was pretty tight. Yeah. Do you think, is there a specific reason he changed from Puff Daddy to P. Diddy? I honestly don't know. And I don't know if it's not cool to call him to call him Puff Daddy. Yeah, because I don't want to disrespect him. No, me neither. I don't want to disrespect you. I like trust me. And try to earn you extra one day. And what brand are those? What? What brand are those? Oh, yeah. They're the Puff Daddy 533 tapered boot cut simultaneously. One leg is tapered. The other is boot cut diesel chain. Puff series. Whoa. Available right now on diesel.com. Nice. All right. That sounds good. That's right. Cool. Do you want to go to send you the thing? No, no, I got it. I got it. Do you want? Do you want two characters? Do you want to ensemble? Why don't you give me the two? Okay, I'll get you to what I can try I can try may squeeze in a camera sure sure sure Okay, okay. Well what's what's the genre you want? What are the genre options sci-fi romance nonfiction mystery humor horror kids fantasy drama I'm gonna give it to random I'm gonna go with the with humor. Okay humor For sake okay. Oh, that's horror. I was gonna say that's forsaken in eternity. Oh shit. That's hilarious. Okay. It sounds suspicious of my plan Okay ready that sounds like I think that's a translated title. I think that yeah My plan different language. Yeah suspicion of my plan. Yeah, it's a Japanese movie all right I'm my plan and your two actors are Hugh Jackman and Chris Pratt Oh my god, have they never worked together before I don't think they have yeah Well, it's the movie that everybody knew had to happen. They just didn't know how they just When exactly how and I'll tell you when it's based on a Japanese movie of The same title except in Japanese suspicion of my plan and of course they rebooted it and they're making it American Right, but they're not gonna cast the original actors because I mean honestly There's been a little bit of backlash towards it But they understand that in America, you know Pratt and Jackman are big names, okay I can't really sometimes put a whole budget of a film on Two guys who are relatively unknown in the North American market. I mean I'm not gonna take a chance on that Well, the original the original Japanese movie was what Tashi no Kiyaku Nifushin what suspicious of my plan is that what that is yeah, holy and you just knew that No, wait a second. Is what Tashi no Kiyaku a nooshin a garbussy movie no No, you got off. Fuck it. I'll send you a dollar Suspicious of my plan What's trying to dodge it? I'll try to dodge it. Yeah, it's Jackman. Okay. However, he shows up out of the blue claiming to be in need of a helping hand Dude trust me me Me and Tris Pratt whose name is something premiere I don't remember damn it Jason Fuck it Jason premiere and Chip gains Lee So he's he's thinking oh god. Okay. Well, all right. He's a friend of my wife's I don't want to be this trustful. I trust her. I love her. This is our marriage and you know it if she wants to help this guy out Of course he can stay on our couch for a little while Then all of a sudden They start laughing at dinner coming up with these inside jokes. He doesn't understand. He's like who is this guy? What does this mean? He's here. He's traveling. He's in need of a helping hand All he knows is that he was backpacking throughout Europe and then something went wrong and there was an issue with Some some stocks collapse. So he's just down on his luck And he's thinking this guy's not here because he needs helping and he's here because he needs my wife He wants my wife. He's in love with my wife. I don't trust this guy Then one night Jason's kid goes downstairs for a glass of milk in the middle of the night There's kids as kids do. Yeah Did I tell you it takes place in 1942? No, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no milk. Yeah And he sees him any any speaking in a language that he doesn't understand He doesn't know if it's a different language As far as being from a different country, but maybe it's some kind of code word He's not really understanding what's happening. So he tells his dad and mom his mom blows it off He goes oh you must have just been sleepwalking or you maybe misheard him the dad goes home He might be on a something who is this guy? He starts trying to dig deeper into them. He goes oh, yeah, honey. Yeah, I'm gonna show some houses today all of a sudden boom He's he's home. He's looking at this guy looking looking at following around he finds out maybe this guy's a spy Maybe this guy's not who he says he is Maybe chip gains Lee isn't even his real name Turns out all his suspicions are correct when he finds out that not only is he a spy, but so - is his wife and Guess what his wife is in danger now his wife's partner and him have to team up to get her back but She's also fully capable on her own.
