The Down Laboratory Show features a lively and detailed analysis of recent football events, emphasizing standout performances and moments of absurdity. Ross Tucker is highlighted as a standout broadcaster for his ability to simplify football terminology while maintaining high energy and engagement. The episode includes numerous observations on unusual catches, particularly in college football, and a controversial goal-line incident involving a player being pulled by the face mask, which the hosts argue should have been penalized. A major theme centers on officiating judgment, with the hosts criticizing rule-bound calls and advocating for more nuanced, instinctive officiating. Other notable points include the impact of weather delays, quarterback injuries (notably Caleb Williams’ dramatic scream), and the growing concern over quarterback health and performance in the early season. The show also touches on coaching dynamics, team struggles (like the Chargers’ poor offense), and the irony of having two coaches named Todd. A recurring critique is the lack of excitement in low-scoring, defensive games, especially during the 1 p.m. window, which are often overshadowed by late-game turnovers or dramatic comebacks. The commentary blends humor, analysis, and personal reactions, showcasing a passionate and reflective approach to the game. The segment concludes with a nod to Game Time as a reliable ticket booking service, offering a seamless and transparent experience for fans attending live games.
You are listening to The Down Laboratory Show. In partnership with The Draft King Sports Act. Now live in all 50 estates. (upbeat music) - This episode of The Dan Labbittar Show is presented by Draft King Sports. Draft King's The Crown is Yours. - I've got to get through some of these observations because I don't want to run out of show and we've got too much show and I don't want to get to the end of the show and be on like number nine and can't get to the best observations 'cause these are in order this week of importance. So number 37 on the list of exclusive observations is that Ross Tucker, this includes Troy Ackman, is as good as anyone in the game. (upbeat music) I don't know why we have a big hockey sound with my football observations. I ask Roy for a big sound and when he thinks of sound he thinks in hockey. Like he doesn't think in the other languages. He doesn't think in the other sports. I asked him for something big. That is a big sound. It's one of, I get goosebumps every time there's a home goal scored and that sound is played. I feel the energy of that in hockey, the way that I don't feel like even, you saw how cool Broncos football looked yesterday with everyone there wearing orange. There's nothing that moves me energetically more than that sound with a home crowd. Here we go. That's a five. I've been list about hockey. So about football. I mean, football sounds then. You're correct. I don't know why Roy did that, but this is what happens when, you know, his hockey judgment is put in charge. Thank you for that as a transition because I learned yesterday with the sound up. This is observation number 36. 32. I learned yesterday for the first time. I didn't know it until yesterday. Maybe you guys already knew it, but I had the sound up. When the quarterback comes up to the line and starts shouting can, can, can, you guys all know what that means because I didn't learn until yesterday what that means. Pretty sure it's can, which means the original play that we called, that's dead. We got to go to that. Yeah, garbage can. We're putting that in the garbage can. I was, yeah, I did not, I did not know that that was, that that was what it is that they were doing. Oh, okay, canceled. Well, it's garbage can is the way that it was explained. Why don't they just yell out new play? Well, I have to say can. I can tell you not a quarterback. But everybody knows what can mean. Just say what you mean, new play, new play. That is what they're saying. They're just doing it with one word because they've got those, they've got to be maximum efficient. Like Jeremy would be a terrible quarterback. One syllable. You got to play clock. Can't. No play, no play here. Run the second play I call. Guys, double thing in this. I've identified the coverage. Now, change it, change it. Now 53 is the mic. We're going to go ahead. Three, two, one here. All right. All right. Once again, I have identified the coverage. And I have identified 53 is the mic. We're going to go duo here, new play. That's the way a game right here. Are you mocking me? I think they're mocking Jeremy there for being someone who enjoys using 70 words when he can use just one. But as it relates to Ross Tucker specifically, I don't know if you have heard him on these broadcasts. I've heard him on the radio. I've heard him on television. He's got a great combination of talking in football and then explaining football very basically so that he broadens the net on everyone he's talking to. So he'll explain very quickly and efficiently what something as simple as the A gap is. But also he has such monster enthusiasm for what it is that he's watching. And it makes him a little different than most broadcasters. Like I know that Rome's popularity was because of how excited he would get. Grudens popularity. How excited he would get. John Madden's popularity. You could hear how much they loved everything about football in every sentence that came out of their mouth. And Ross Tucker deserves all of the bigger assignments that he's now getting because he's fun to listen to. And he just speaks in very easy to understand tight language that would appeal to anybody. He's great and he's been great. Like even in Westwood one when he does the color for the radio games, like you would listen to him be like, oh wow, like Ross is excellent. Obviously he's got his pod. He's the hardest working man in football, I think. He's got 17 different podcasts. He's on 18 different shows. He does the play by playing the broadcast and stuff. But I was watching the exact moment that you were when he explained what the A gap was, which was between the center and the guard. And he's like, the linebacker's got to meet him there in the A gap. Oh, by the way, that's between the guard and the center. And then boom. But he does that all the time is what I'm saying. Like not everyone, what I'm saying is the reason that I'm noticing it with him is because none of the others do that. All of the other experts who have that expertise don't translate some of their language for you. Because they don't have that much time to talk, right? They have to say what they're saying very quickly because of how little time they have. And so anyway, congratulations to Ross Tucker for all the success that he's having. Because you can hear in the broadcast his enthusiasm. And you can also hear how he's getting better. Because this guy has been driving to a lot of, you know, he's been driving to a lot of bad games on the radio in order to get some of these opportunities that are prime opportunities in NFL. His climb is aspirational in that he didn't have the flashiest name. He didn't play the flashiest position. He's been at this game for a long time. Honing his craft grinding and to finally get to this point where his work is being recognized and he's being called among the best in all of football. That's a big deal. Number 35 in terms of observations that I have from the football weekend. What a slew of absurd catches were made. (grunting) You see that Jamar chase catch? I don't even understand how it's possible. You see that Jamar chase, Sally? Oh yeah. There were so many catches there over the course of the weekend. And it's both Saturday and Sunday because of the amount of athletes in college football right now that's absurd. But Evan Engram had a catch. It was the only catch of the game. And it was just an ass-on-eye catch that reminded me of one time that Mark Bavaro caught a ball by just reaching down with one hand and it was inches off of the ground. And his hand was so big that he just caught it inches off the ground with one hand. It's the first time I'd seen something like that. If you saw the catch, Engram had yesterday. And then Cody White had two catches in that Raiders game. Can I show you? You tell me how this guy caught this ball with the outside of his right arm and this kind of coverage. It was two catches that he had like this and he was so not expected to have those catches that they put accidentally the wrong receiver on the screen. After that, Cory Rucker, they're like, here, who was that? I don't know who that was regardless. It doesn't matter who that was. You guys notice what a slew of absurd catches there were. - College weekend. - College weekend, yeah. - Yeah, the Chris Marshall from Arkansas went up there and got one with one hand. That was awesome. - Zazlow, did you think and I'm gonna get to number 34 here? Do you think that anyone remembers? Because that Bucks Browns game was interesting for a number of different reasons. And some people are gonna say that the Sean Watson outplayed Baker Mayfield. But do you think anyone's going to remember that after coming out of that weather delay, Baker Mayfield made the throw that would have won the game that was just dropped in the end zone? We're talking about the slew of absurd catches that were made over the entirety of Saturday and Sunday. He made the throw that would have won the game into the end zone. And today he's getting a whole lot of avalanche of criticism because the Sean Watson outplayed him and now they're 0 and 2 after he got paid. - Yeah, well, that's exactly it right there. 0 and 2 after he got paid and you just lost to the Sean Watson and the Browns. Like I get the criticism. - Very concerning stretch dating back to last season for Tampa Bay's offense and Baker Mayfield in particular. You asked the question, wait, was this guy just some like Evans merchant? He did have two great OCs. I went on to be head coaches elsewhere in the league and this offensive coordinator seems to be struggling but they're banged up. They can't block him and Baker hasn't been good flatly for a little bit here. - Yeah. That game had to be so odd to experience in person. Unlike almost any football game that people will ever go to where you're just so much better off watching that at home. - Did people go back in the stadium like when they resumed the game a couple of hours later? Were there people in the stands? - Yeah, but they did a lot of tight shots to not show how few there were. There were a lot of tight shots of wet fans because why would you wait 90 minutes? - It's like a home. - It's a game in the one to four o'clock window restarted at six p.m. Your wet, it's awful. It's threatening rain all over the place. Why would you stay for that? But you're going to stay and the people who stay are going to watch you lose to Dishon Watson and the Browns at home? - Well, that's the part that sucks. But imagine the wife at home with the kids, you're with the boys, you got a couple of middle lights, you're in the concourse, you're hanging out, you're doing your thing. He said, "Wife, hey, 90 minute delay." What am I going to do, I can't leave. Bakers on the field, gonna drive down the skid score and win. - But did you see that after the game, what Todd Monkin had to say as a response to what Mike Tomlin calling the Browns of the Browns last week? - Browns are going to Browns, that, okay? So the guys took that to heart, thank you. Mike Tomlin said something controversial.
It's controversial. Take it easy, pal. - The pros are gonna browse. - It's going for that cheap hot, Todd. - Whatever, Todd. - That unfortunately is my observation number 17 here. That is the first ever game coach between two Todds. - Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah. - Both of the coaches were named Todd. And not only that, Scott Hansen pointed this out on the red zone, they're both named Todd Robert. Todd Robert, Bowls and Todd Robert Munkin, both of them. - It's creepy. - I don't like that name. - It's a bad name. - It's a tobert. - Is it short for anything? No, it's just Todd. - Put it on the poll. Please, that Levitard show. Are we still making Todd's? 'Cause you can't have a bundle of joy emerge from the womb and have it be the happiest moment of your life and say, I know what that baby boy looks like. That looks like a toad. - Looking like a toad. - It reminded me of seeing the Todd Hilton statue over the weekend. Did you see that thing? - I can't. - I can't. - Can't wait to say it. - I saw the Kyle Lowry statue. This is how the raptors are gonna do it for all their players. They're not gonna be statues of human beings. They're gonna be statues of a raptor with the human beings uniform number over the raptor. - Dan, let me tell you something. I hate Kyle Lowry. All right, let's make sure everybody remembers that. That statue is really cool. If that's the way that they're doing statues and clearly it is, 'cause they did it. Where it's a raptor, wearing the jersey of the player, who the statue is for, and you got the player's name underneath. I think that's really, really cool, Dan. - And to be fair, it's easier to sculpt a raptor than it is a person as we've noticed with all the bad sculptures of people. - It's true. - You got a raptor. You got the best raptor maker? - Make it. - I think that's cool as hell what they're doing there. - The best raptor maker. - There's a guy out there who's like, you know what I love doing? Make it sculptures of raptors. We're like, we didn't find that guy. You have a job here in the Great North. - It is great because it is like creating Jurassic Park in a really fun way there. Like they have Vince Carter. Now they have Kyle Lowry. For him, they put it as the grote, the greatest raptor of all time, which we can have that debate about whether they should do that or not. - What's that? - But it was a block party for Kyle Lowry. They had all of this stuff going on. Kevin Love was there, which was interesting. I guess having been paired with him, he got booed by raptor's fans. But having this as your way of going about statues saves you a lot of embarrassment in the long run. - Is this because of the weight thing? - Well, the raptor also had a thicker frame, which is one of the things that happened. - Oh, is that right? You could tell it's Kyle Lowry. - Oh, yeah. - Wait, thicker than Vince Carter's frame? - Yeah, you could tell. - We have to do some investigating. - This is a stout raptor. - Squareshaped. - There's a little role. Week three has some massive matchups. Falcon's Packers on Thursday night, Bengal Steelers, Ravens Cowboys, from Brazil, and Eagles Bears on Monday night. I just went to the bill's home opener, and Game Time helped me get in that stadium, and it was one of the biggest games of the week. So some things happen in that game that are interesting to lose a home to the Raiders. This is from Optistats, the second team in NFL history to lose back-to-back games by double digits with both coming at home against teams that had a sub-200 winning percentage the previous season. The other was, the 1926 racing tornadoes who played one more game before folding. The Chargers had six fumbles in that game. Says, "That hadn't happened in a charger game since 1989." And the last one, they lost only one of them, but it was the killer. It was with less than four minutes left. Hampton fumbled again, second week in a row that he fumbles, but six fumbles. And you lose one. And you lose to the Raiders at home. And you lose to the Raiders at home by double digits. Just in Herbert, those skilled guys look limited. That team looks limited offensive. - The game was never in doubt. - Danny, I was watching part of the interruption with the sound on for the first time. And honestly, three presidents. And the question that I heard asked of Mike Wilban, "You know how much I hate answering questions "about must-win games in week two?" But Tony, this is a must-win game. And it is. Have you seen the rest of that schedule? They lost the must-win game. This is a crazy schedule for the Chargers coming up. - They're next seven games, at bills, at Seahawks, home against the Broncos, at chiefs, at Rams, versus the Texans, at the Ravens. - They could be all in seven by attacking. - Oh, Danny, you know how much Michael Wilban hates that question. - Should I make it O Jim Harball and Mike McDaniel? - Yeah, because at least Jim Harball has a national title to his name. And he's been to a Super Bowl before. History will look back kindly on his football legacy, even though all that stuff happened at Michigan. Mike McDaniel's the one that's got to be worried right now because he's becoming a punchline. - Does he get shown the door before the Z-Zor? - McDaniel? - Yeah. - He could? - Like, all in nine? - He could because-- - Off with the sputtering? - He could because you also, you have the quarterback who is their franchise quarterback, who is now, really for the first time in his career. Now it's gonna start to come under some real criticism. Here, number seven. It's never wanna play off-game. He's got that play off-game where they blew the 27 nothing lead. He's never won anything. He's got the big contract. He was number six overall traffic. And like, now he's gonna actually start to get some criticism. And when that criticism starts to get even louder, I think that could lead to them parting with Mike and Dan. - But here's where it is that they're built a little flimsy, okay, because Justin Herbert did some of the things that he was doing when, you know, they had Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. And now it's a tight end, heavy offense. Because when McConkey is not out there, they're worse than anybody except the Falcons in EPA. But when McConkey is out there, they're top seven in the league in EPA. McConkey changes things for them in a way that's obvious when he's not right. And he was made active just before the game. When he's not right, it's just you're gonna throw to Gatson. You're gonna throw to Enjoukou and the offense. And your offensive line is bad. Like that's, and it's a problem. And your offensive line is bad even when Alt is out there. Because usually when Alt is out there, Herbert's fine. - Yeah. - But he's been out there and-- - Alt's looking bad. - I mean, I would guess that the injuries have caught up to him somewhat because Herbert doesn't have a lot of time, but that's true of a lot of quarterbacks and you have to make do, I mean, CJ Stroud. What he is under with that offensive line, I haven't seen a lot worse than Houston's this year. - Why are the chargers even in Los Angeles? Like that entire stadium was Raiders fans. They took over the stadium. - Every time the Raiders go to LA, I ask the question, why are the Raiders in Vegas? The Raiders should be in LA. They are just like the Rams. They had been in that market before. Chargers are a nomadic team. You could put them anywhere. I mean, no one in LA feels anything for them. - That team was really good last year. Their defense was really good last year. A lot of people were talking about Mentor. And then after yesterday, they're like, well, wait a minute. Because-- - Hey, you're giving up observations. Do you have this? - I am. I'm giving up extra. These are extra bonus observations. - Those are just OLIs. You don't even have them on the list. - Yeah, they're just random observations. - How does that have to go? - No, absolutely not. - Good coach. - But, I mean-- - I mean, after yesterday's, you know, you know, okay, that's where we have the debate. - What happened yesterday to the Ravens? Let's go ahead and put this at number 32 if it wasn't at 32 before. I'm going to just move this around because I have to stay nimble. And I've got to just not have this consistently be. Is that an observation? Does that count as an observation? What the hell happened yesterday to the Bucks, the Ravens? And I'm going to throw the Eagles in there as well. Even though they won. What the hell was that? - Ha, ha, ha! - Ravens got hosed. That was not a touchdown by Shuck. I'm sorry. Like the other one he got in. That one he didn't. You know, it's also got his head almost ripped off. - Well, so that's 31. Go ahead. I'm just going to start making these. I'm going to start moving them around. - 26? - I really enjoyed that they went to the replay to see it. Let's examine this for a second. As you tell me the stupidity of what I'm about to say here, okay? Because these rugby scrums at the goal line that are wildly stupid, where we're sitting there going to instant replay, to see if this two tons of line moved, that two tons of line, a fraction of an inch. Let's see if we have the right angle. They go to replay on Shuck.
uh. doing a quarterback sneak and they keep showing it keep showing it again and none of the announcers are saying holy bleep they've got shocked by the face mask and they're pulling him away from both the goal line and the football by his nose and the face mask they're replaying it to see if he got the ball over but it's clearly an illegal act from somebody who jumped over the entirety of the line and just grabbed shut tackled shock by the face mask and no one's talking about that and it's not reviewable and it's an in-ane stupid and yeah what why you've been talking about it you can't retroactively call panels there it's it's irrelevant but it's if it's not obvious you should be able to call it a penalty like you should look i've told you this before you've heard me say it a number of times before i don't want my arbiters to be just strictly rule following monkeys i can get an animal i can train an animal to just fall follow the rules precisely i want judges to judge i want them to show judgment i want to give a referee the ability to say no you can't that was the most illegal play of the entire week and shocked being grabbed strictly by the face mask and the only reason it and his head stayed on is because the guy wasn't strong enough to pull shucks head off of his body was that a official observation no i was a side one because we had talked about that that scrum but i think it shout out to my prayer i think who's on that call from the perspective of the officials but he's like just zoomed by it he's like yeah we're gonna see where the ball is obviously can't see that obviously his head got ripped off here but we can't review that's we're gonna keep going i heard that i was like oh okay so at least he saw it but you said it was number thirty one because you were jumping ahead so is it or is it not because it's actually twenty six if it's thirty one but no that was a part of the jesse mentor oh a lie converse no jesse i was twenty seven no no no no that was the bucks ravens eagles what happened there converse thank you Tony i appreciate your help there jermy is trying to foul things up here i have already said the dolphins won't not what jermy can can can i have already said that the dolphins will not bother a quarterback all season it's you're gonna go an entire season and you're going to see that all of the quarterbacks are totally unbothered by the dolphin secondary and the dolphins pass rush they were 44 they really haven't come close to sacking anymore it's gonna be all season and it's gonna be gruesome and it's gonna be painful and they're not going to be terribly competitive and it's a lost season before it's even got started which is a real bummer for dolphin fans who have suffered for 25 years but number thirty on my list of other patients here is Jacksonville Jacksonville and as an added bonus for a wide receiver Brian Thomas can't catch guy stinks it's unbelievable guys stinks like parkour washington should be their number two receiver and they would be formidable if Brian Thomas was the number one receiver he was drafted to be and he physically looks the part and parkour washington is taking all of his numbers and is going to take all of his catchers and his money as well well he yeah certainly taking the money but parkour washington is a one he is really I'm I'm not yes he is not not Thomas needs to get to like be good to be a good three Jacobi Myers is there to a to be fair they drafted a guy who plays defense right the the high's been winter plays the game is he do anything like no nothing nothing I know I know he's not really playing wide receiver anymore is it has he been good at a quarterback these two games he had a pass interference yesterday that hurt them that's gonna happen somewhat but Jacksonville I thought should have won that game and that is the reason that I don't trust them last year they went into Devin Denver and ransacked Denver and they did it late in the season and I am ready I want to trust that team that team is skilled that team has a number of athletic components there was a there was a play in that game where they went side to side on the goal line where the running back reversed field and usually when a running back reverses field like that your entire defense can't keep up with him but they are very fast side to side defensively and they just did what Jacksonville does and it's one of the reasons that you can't trust that team to be fair it's a tough spot for Jacksonville off a big win against the Cleveland Browns Broncos are in a back against a wall spot after losing to the chiefs you can't let the jacks come over and beat your own building orange crush day you can't do that so it's a tough spot for them it's what it was a tough spot but last year they went the last time they played their look at that score for me Jeremy just yes a tough spot but the last time they went in there they did it against the team that ended up the season 14 and three a Denver team that I think is better than this Denver team is and when they went in there that game wasn't close like it was as as likes to say never in doubt week sixteen they won 34 to 20 at Denver orange crush day also was your kiss a death dude mine all you want to play oh my god how amazing is Trevor Lawrence Trevor Lawrence is so great Trevor Lawrence Matthew Berry how great is Trevor Lawrence and then they go and they lose that game maybe he's good at the last you're on Trevor Lawrence tips at the last nine games you've been great because you know one of the best quarterbacks in the league you don't talk about it it's like a perfect game last week you guys were talking about what a great name trace Mac is and you are right that trace Mac is a great name 24 is observation number 29 but the reason that he is trace Mac is because his real name is James Woodrow smack the third that's an even better name for a kicker James Woodrow smack the third somebody explained to me how the Jets lost that football game somebody somebody explain it to me I'm looking at a room full of football observers football commentators original thinkers somebody explain to me how the Jets lost that game to the Packers when they're winning 17 7 in the fourth quarter the Packers have under 200 yards the Packers have more than a hundred yards and penalties and the Jets get more turnovers than the Packers again that game is statistically has been played 44 times and the other 44 times it was played the team with those advantages never lost never lost Jets are going to be better though than we thought they were going to be Geno Smith stabilizes there in a way 23 makes them now that's a bonus observation there are no bonus observations I'll decide for me what are the bonus observations I don't know where you thought it's fine for you on the fact that rolls you're entitled to your numbers he has his he can have his numbers but I'm going to continue to ignore those numbers that's fine the your own peril the the Jets Zazlow have so much more hope even with Geno Smith than the dolphins have with a young quarterback who is has more future than Geno Smith would right because Geno Smith and the Jets are sort of in the same position that the Steelers are in like why are you doing any of this you're gonna run around out there for a while and you're gonna try and play games but you have no meaningful chance to win anything this year and you're going to be wildly uninteresting because you've got a quarterback who's too old to be part of your future but but we'll keep you some level of confident in the way you couldn't be with your quarterback play last year and they have a lot of draft picks like they also own the Colts first round pick the culture now oh and two that was the sauce gardener trade that their the Jets have things look forward to and and they're a competent team down lebatar what is the worst part of the life Geno dan Sassilo the worst part of the life of life this is leader lebatar show number 28 here is the question 21 is drew lock to anybody can you're gonna keep doing this this is really hard Dan you're all over the place is drew lock or anybody to Jackson Smith and Jigba the best quarterback to wide receiver combination there is in the NFL there are three guys that we shouldn't be afraid to compare to the goats in terms of we're projecting that guy has a chance now Jerry rice's put records like at such an impossible place that it seems ridiculous that anyone can get close but in terms of what you're seeing on the field JSN is one of the best wide receivers in all football he's incredible like he's just he is quarterback proof it doesn't matter not one of the best Mike is as good as anyone in the game is the phrase is not one of the best is as good as anyone in the game I don't know what you're doing Fred Warner my hot take better than Ray Lewis for us as a fumble with a picture perfect punch I know Zaz hated I'm so over it it was on the money door right now I hate I think there's an advanced metric that says there's no NFL team that has a bigger gap between Fred Warner and the other linebacker that plays off of them like they're like he covers so much ground as after a huge injury it is hard in the modern age for a middle linebacker to flash half as much as he does and he just dominates the game from that position is incredible and you guys had the Derek Henry conversation so how many you got but you got my home suit my home suit but that that's ever present for the quarterbacks but we're so afraid to do that like I just made some people get really angry when I said Fred Warner is better than Ray Lewis but I that but he is he's really
- Really terrific. - Are there any rules at all? - No. - Okay. - Does he do a cool dance when he's introduced for the game? - I think Fred Warner. I think Fred Warner, especially when you adjust for the age and how much more ground that Fred Warner's trusted to cover, Fred Warner's, it might be go, dude. - Mike, can I submit Josh Allen in those three? - Josh Allen is going to have a chance. - The peak of his power, right? - He needs to do the things, but Mahomes has him. - You guys mentioned the Ray Lewis and Ray Lewis dance, and I wanted to ask you because last week, one of the observations that hit the cutting room floor, I will reveal it now, even though it didn't make last week's show, a Raven's receiver, it wasn't flowers, I don't think it was down, maybe it was down, but there was a touchdown, three yard touchdown, and that receiver did very well in the end zone, the Ray Lewis dance. Without noticing that there was a flag behind him, and then they were sent 10 yards back. Do you laugh to yourself every time that one of these celebrations, unbeknownst to the celebrant, is called back, and you wasted your time, your breath, your energy, because you thought you had a touchdown, but you didn't know there was laundry on the field. - My favorite is when there's a huge kick or punt return. And the returner, obviously, he doesn't look behind him to see if there was a flag, and he's celebrating like with the crowd, but everybody in the building except for him knows this does not count. - My Raven's pendulum is swinging back the other way. Last week I apologized for saying, I think they're gonna be bad this year, they're clearly gonna be good, and then I found out Indianapolis had no ideas what plays they were running on defense. They took the responsibility away from the guy to call it, like this guy, and you watch it back, they're not lined up, and like Baltimore's just doing whatever it wants, so that game basically doesn't count, and they've already lost their wide receiver, so got my eye on you, once again, and that was a terrible decision by Lamar down the stretch. - That was the stunner of the day, correct? Everything that happened-- - Saints are tough, I respect them. - I think Saints are in the position. - And especially once you saw Detroit fight against Bills, you were like looking at the game between New Orleans and Detroit in a different way. I have an observation from watching Goffin person, yeah, Josh Allen's amazing. I was impressed by Goff, like that guy was dealing, there were some passes there that were out of this world, and I'm like, and that's one of the mid-tier quarterbacks. - Yeah, he made a throw on the goal line to St. Brown, where it's the only place you can put it. You can cover those guys. The amount of precision involved in some of what you're watching, even from Drew Locke, right? Even from Drew Locke. Zaz, there are so many plays in the NFL every weekend where the precision is so stupifying that plays can't be covered by human beings who have ever existed if the quarterback and the receiver are that precise. - There was a ball that he threw. I think to Tesla that was dropped in a bucket in between three people. The only place that he could put it, also just for added difficulty, right on the sideline, and it was a big down and distance. Like they were bringing the house over there, and Goff just dropped it right in. Even that short like six yard slant to St. Brown, is the only place that he could put it, and you needed a wide receiver. That town did the catch it, whereas most people would roll their eyes at that, that is really hard to do. - Titans Eagles was really close to being the biggest surprise of the day yesterday. - Really close. - But that was a seven point line. I think the Bucks Browns was an eight point line. What was the line in Baltimore Saints? - Seven and a half. - Mike Ryan, did I detect in your voice a hiccup of lack of confidence in saying Tesla? - No, you heard the hiccup that I believe is in his name. - Yeah, 'cause he's got two ways on the end of his name. - Yeah, Tesla A. - And so Tesla A, is how we. - I don't know if the A's. - Tesla. - Tesla. - You let it linger? - Take a slide. - It's Dua. - It's Dua. - Tesla. - Dua. - That sounds how Lou Dobbs says Wahaka there. He's trying to pronounce the lion's fourth wide receiver. Tesla. Ah. I need to get that on my sound board. Do me the favor. - Tesla. - Tesla. - Yeah. - Goff throwing two. - The caravan of mostly central American immigrants is now in the Mexican city of Wafolda. I felt like you sort of went over a speed bump there in trying to honor the last A in it. - Wafolda. - Wafolda. - What's your key name? - Number 28. - 20. - Number 27 on my list of observations. I cannot imagine how much green bay fans love Lucas Vennes. - Wafolda. - Look up, put up for me a photo of him on the screen there, green bay fans. How much are they gonna love this guy from Iowa, that head of hair and a menace who's going to be in your back field. He's been there with them for a couple of years. He's a first round pick. - That dude is good. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's generally what happens very often with first round picks. Yes. - Not often. There's a lot of first round picks where we look at him be like, it's a pass rush especially. Hey, you're not that good. This guy is great. - You might be saying that about one pass rush or out of my head. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. Is anybody seen Rubin Bayne? - Donuts. It's been bad. Mezzador finally got his first act. Kiante Scott got a sack before any of them. And Rubin Bayne's done nothing. - It's early. - It is. - And he's hurt and he's trying to play through it. - And a weird game yesterday. - That's, you're supposed to eat against the browns, even if you're not 100%. - It was raining. - It was raining. - There was lightning in the area. - I'm worried about this bucks team. - The best pass rusher U-M has in the sport right now is Rousseau, right? - Chaelin Phillips is doing his thing right now. - No, Rousseau. - Rousseau. - No, I'm not saying. Rousseau is getting better every year. Rousseau dominated that game against Detroit. Now Detroit had a rough online situation too, but he got two sacks on like the first drive. Rousseau is wrecking, and he made impact plays against Houston. He is winning games for them. - Number 26 here. - 19. - Those 1 p.m. games were terrible. - All under the number, all bad offense, good defense, and all of it gets solved because Titans Eagles and Bears Vikings saves you at the end, because at the end of the 1 o'clock window, you've got games like Titans Eagles is a stinker of a game on paper. But at the end, you've got Total Chaos in the last 20 seconds, and Bears Vikings was a hard watch for a number of different reasons. But at the end, when we're already on the backup quarterbacks, as it's pretty early in the season, to be on the backup quarterbacks and all over the league, no matter how many health things you put in place to try and keep some of these guys healthy. We're already at the injuries of the quarterbacks. The Vikings Bears game, both of those games in the window, they had to double box it because you had the last 20 seconds of both games deciding the window. And so it just obscures and erases the fact that the 1 o'clock game stunk. Yeah, the Vikings Bears game was never in doubt. Wasting everybody's time. Oh, they're going to score. Watch, hold on. So, Caleb Williams got to play next week. The way he was getting carted off, I thought he would never play again. No way, Mike. No way. No, forget whether he plays, why did he act that way? If he were a hammy, why did he act that way? He let-- I was watching what the sound on. He let out a scream, a scream that made me think it was his Achilles. How dare he do that to me? That's my fifth moment here that the stadium got so scared and quiet that you could hear Caleb Williams scream. [GUNSHOT]
