We always say that, it's not a criticism. We always say that, but how do we know that the players who take them are the ones that want to take them? - Yeah, it does seem weird. And it kind of came up again during the World Cup. I'm trying to desperately remember which team it was. Australia had like a 19-year-old step up and take a penalty, or there was a side who had a very young player step up to take a penalty, and he clearly was looking very nervous and he missed it. I always think you should have, before the game even starts, just rank literally every player in your playing squad, one through to 25, and then go through, when it gets to after extra time penalties say, "Right, this is going to be the order." If anybody doesn't want to take it say now, and you drop to the bottom of that list. That's how I think it should be done. I kind of trust Artetta and the Arsenal management to be thorough and detailed enough to have a plan for every player, no matter what circumstance ends up happening in terms of players on the pitch. So, I did think it was a bit weird when I saw Gabriel step up, I wasn't like, but they're like for complaints now. It's going to get me into hell for a very long time, I'm sure you've seen that. I wonder if there's an impact on your season now, not at the start, but having been so close to winning that, and for the club obviously would have been the first time, if it might become something that becomes a bit of an obsession as the season progresses. If I sit you now, you're going to win the Champions League, but you're not going to win the Premier League, do you like to snatch my hand off for that? Or is it still priority has to be domestic first? No, no, no, not at all. I think given that we've never won the Champions League, I'd be silly not to jump at that opportunity. And I think, like you say, the way that it went last season, I think it's been involved in two, I guess you could call them races, the Champions League isn't really a race, but you know what I mean? Where they were both the very close, like very late on into the season. I think that's shown our tetas willingness, perhaps towards the end of the Premier League season, to take both competitions as seriously and adapt as he needs to. It took a while, but eventually got there, kind of as we saw with Lewis Kelly coming into midfield. So I think the idea with what we're trying to do with this transfer, when I'm sure we'll touch through a minute a bit, is to build a squad that's capable of going very, very deep again in both competitions. So I don't get a sense there'll be any sort of prioritisation from a club perspective. You come as well with this idea that everyone's already awarded you the title for this coming season as well. I mean, it'd be great if we could just call it 38 games down and we get another trophy. Rob and I. I'd watch you 38 times. To be fair, I think there are probably quite a lot of people who would say the same. No, I mean, I'm not comfortable with it because you and I have come on these like free season podcasts for however long we've been doing them, and I don't think I've ever predicted Arsenal to win the title. So emotionally doesn't make me feel great, but you look at Arsenal's biggest rival, which would have been Man City. They've got a new manager who isn't entirely, I don't think everyone's entirely sure is going to be the guy to replace Guadalupe, which in of itself is a massive, massive challenge. You look at Liverpool and whilst they've perhaps got the most proven manager of the contender group you could say just because he's more experienced than the league than Alonzo. They've got massive questions over their squad. Chelsea, I think Chavio Alonzo himself is somewhat of a, whilst promising he is an unproven managerial prospect and their squad is bloated and still feels a little bit all over the place. I don't think anyone is ever going to be entirely convinced about Man United's until probably they buy another defender and another midfielder. And then where else are you looking at someone from outside? You're kind of looking at, is there the off chance Spurs could go, and I don't think they could, but that's kind of way. Don't worry Adam, I know. Yeah, but once you look at the possible contenders, no one is putting up a compelling case to being the one to push Arsenal all the way. And it's not saying they can't, but at this stage. What you're saying to me is, long answer. Yeah, you think you'll win the league again. I'll predict we will. Yeah. Cool. There is interest in no look back. I remember when we spoke last year and we spoke quite a bit about ESAC, potentially going at a time it wasn't confirmed. And I think your general feeling at that point was like, if they do sign ESAC, might be looking at them dominating for a while. He obviously imploded. And the reality is it imploded for the previous champions before that man's just to see at a similar time as we was heading into the ultimate again. That almost feels like the biggest danger here, rather than knowing, because I don't think we know who's going to be your closest challenger. I feel like Chelsea could be really good, really bad. I'm not sure at the moment. A lot feels like that with so many new managers. But I think most of us went into last year thinking, yeah, Liverpool's firepower looks too much now. Most people would have thought City the year before. He's natural, I think, to think the champions will go and do it again. He's a real consciousness on your mind. But for the last two champions, we could not have the scene what would go wrong. Like, can there be something here from you are done it now? That's what I mean about focusing on the Champions League as a little bit as well. Yeah, I think there's a couple of things. I think with Liverpool, not only did they get kind of a succession of attacking injuries, you had a pretty massive drop off from Salah, who was their clear standout player when they won the league. And you also saw slots kind of move away from a tactical system that I think could work on.
worked as a, I think it was clear when Liverpool won the league, the way he set them up was designed to be a middle ground between clock and what he eventually wanted to do. I think it just turned out what he eventually wanted to do didn't work. So I think that's slightly played into it. With City, I think the Roderie injury was always going to be a massive factor and potentially they might be without the season. So it will continue to be something that needs to be taken into account. I think when you look at Arsenal, you are looking at, I think, either inertia, like you say, which I kind of don't buy into because we've only just won it. Like if we had won three in a row or was it four in five years, like City had done, then you can kind of maybe understand it a little bit more. This group is still very hungry to prove themselves, especially after you saw their reaction to the general narrative around Arsenal's title win last season. I think they want to go and do it again to really kind of prove it to everyone that we are the best team in the country. So aside from that inertia point, I think the potential Saliba absence is the thing where if you want to question or if you want to pin, there could be a big Arsenal drop off at the start of the season because of this, it would be the Saliba injury. I guess if I said to you, we can't see it now, but like take Gabriel and Raya out of the team on top of Saliba. It's just sort of thing we all who's leading the backline kind of gig, right? Yeah, absolutely. You're taking kind of three of our best five players out of the team and I think if you do that to anyone, they're going to be seriously hamstrung, especially when the drop off, particularly less so in Gabrielle because I think we have more left hand kind of set the backs to cover, but the drop off and we've seen in preseason from Raya to Kepa or Melia is substantial. Yeah, I'd be very honest. For me, it's something like that. It's that injuries happen and I think we should acknowledge you just have a lot of injuries last year actually and quite a bit pretty well. It's that or something shifts mentality wise is the only things right now I can foresee, but I also can't foresee you the challenges at the moment. So it feels very, very obvious. Who do you think will be closest just in just guess a name? A city, but I bet it's purely because I've got Holland. Okay, talk to us about the fixtures you've got at the start briefly because I think from the FB or Manchester perspective, you see Coventry City at home game one and most people want to go with free of yours. But then actually the four fixtures afterwards Villa, Brighton, Sundle and the way and obviously the home game, Michelle say that that's not the kindest set of four fixtures I think to necessarily start the season with. Then people are looking at game week six ago and that's a nice little run and I feel like that swings again quite quickly actually Liverpool way nine, Newcastle way 11, City at home 12, Brent for the way 13 is always a challenge in fixture. How do you feel looking at the fixtures and how they've landed for you? I think this is something the youth kind of mentioned. I think it was on your chip strategy episode where it's very tough to look for any team and see oh yeah there's a great run of fixtures and I think that's more indicative of the fact that that the quality and the Premier League has gotten so much greater. It's really now and this may well prove to age badly but preseason it's really only the three promoted sides that jump out as well. They're good fixtures so unless you string a couple of them together in a row, you're never really going to be of them with too much confidence. I think to us I think playing Chelsea early is better if I'm being honest like they don't have Europe this season so you'd imagine with kind of a Lonzo implementing a new system they're only going to get better as the season goes on. I think playing them game week three is probably the best time to get them out of the way in the first half of the season. Likewise playing Forrest so early away yeah it could be a tricky game but as you've got a manager kind of implementing something different I'm not too like those are the sides where yes they do look worse on paper but they're going to be new managers trying to kind of play slightly differently. But yeah no it's it's the age of there are no easy fixtures in this league. No fair I think your best run is actually probably over Christmas sort of swinging about game with 15 16 I think that's actually your best run in the first half of the season. Let's sort of cut the new sign is Emperor and I give them res. You seem to be a lot of delaying tactics here Adam but you got your man he's a great player. I don't know if you believe Luke Edwards I'm not even sure if we've signed in. Yeah I wouldn't just dig out one new cast report I'd probably dig out but continue. That's fair I think that kind of exacerbated the whole saga situation it felt to me from quite early on that the deal would happen eventually and that I'm torn on the transfer more than the player I would suppose I think like his individual qualities are like quite clear like I think he is clearly a good player. I don't know whether if you put me in the dugout or me in the border room which would be a disaster but hypothetically I don't know if that's where I would have chosen to allocate that amount of money to to a 28 year old but on the other side of that like I was saying he's proven in the Premier League there's no adaptation period required. He is a very high intensity player he plays aggressive going forward and kind of although I don't think his strongest side in the defensive aspects of the game which is the type of player that are better likes and I think the big thing for Arsenal and what a lot of Arsenal fans are feeling with the transfers is we need to put our foot on the gas and whilst we have the potential to extend the gap between us and people who are going to challenge us for the title we should do it and so signing an experience 28 year old is kind of how you do that it's it's not the same as someone like Manu Kone the French player who was linked with us kind of during the World Cup time although he would probably be the pro-file of player I would have preferred us to sign that requires a period of adaptation I don't think he's quite as versatile as Gimmarage so that you need to build up time when Arsenal don't really have that option with Rice likely to kind of miss the first couple and I should also say because I probably tweeted stuff about this before I don't like him as a person I think he's kind of a pretty well as a person I might be harsh well done for saying next I don't have to bring up the tweets you've said about him in the past I've probably called him some very horrible names because I think when he was playing for Newcastle he played pretty horribly against Arsenal right up the creek if you'd sign the remebering mate I know oh my god I think that's what he came on now it looks like he's going to out like see thank gods I was like I've been saved from a generational backtrack because yeah that would not be unpleasant where does Gimmarage fit in I mean you've mentioned now that's that's going to surprise a few people I think you're saying you know Declan Russ might be taking quite easy start the season what is Gimmarage to you is he put the easy the six easy a riot a you know like otter guard kind of leans sort of right half space but what where does Gimmarage fit in here I think he can be both I think he can at the start of the season just because of the nature of our options I would expect him to maybe not entirely replace like for like rice but you could see Gimmarage Lewis Scally Urdugar midfield three I think that's that's kind of how I think will line up wouldn't in the community shield on on Sunday but yeah I think he can be a partner to rice in the bigger games the ones where you need a little bit more physical intensity and you kind of want you want to be able to deploy your press all across the pitch rather than ask North typically kind of done quite a high press with the front three and Urdugar kind of being a key part of joining that front three I think Gimmarage allows you to harass the opposition all over the pitch I think you can also see him replacing rice at times because rice is clearly fatigued if even if he's not carrying an injury he's he's played far too much football in the last 12 months I think I think the Gimmarage signing is an acknowledgement that rice can't be used every game anymore so you might see Zubimendi coming in and Gimmarage kind of partnering each other almost alternating who goes and who sits and obviously you've got where does marino fit into this avatars has been used as a left-date a fair bit in preseason as I started there in the most recent friendly against Como so we got a lot of options in that midfield for sure Gimmarage a fan that's the option for you
No, I don't think so. Not until, especially not as if what happens, if what I think will happen happens, I don't think he's going to be given as much freedom as we might. Yeah, as much freedom as he could be given. I suppose at Newcastle we had a certain licensees clearly their best player. Yeah, and also, is he 7 million I think? Yeah, I'm just, it's reasonable after we've done it. It's reasonable, but you've got Erdgard at 6'5", Soles at 6'5", who I would look to before I looked to, at least until we get more of a sense of if he's going to be a consistent starter and kind of what are the different variations of how it would be used. Just like in Italy, it's a bit strange. Okay, so on our debrief podcast from Patreon yesterday, we had a little discussion about new signings and we've often quite often it's like learn less than an FPL, generally maybe don't start with them. I said, I am at the moment in my draft starting with one no and we're obviously preferring to play as coming outside the league rather than say Gimra's and he said, is it Solis because it is for me and at the moment, yeah, until I speak to Adam and what Adam just said makes me think that he might end up hanging around for me. So I've talked to us about Crystal Solis, mate. Yeah, I think from an FPL perspective, I think it's probably the best attacking option to start with Erasinal. He's in my team at the moment because doesn't look like a left-wing signing is going to come in with enough time to start over him in Game Week 1. He's been playing very consistent minutes in preseason and playing consistently well. He's already taking some set pieces and he's got a very, very good set piece delivery records as well. He looks like a younger trossard, essentially. He's kind of replacing him, isn't he? Yeah, exactly. He's much more. Not the Martinelli isn't direct. I just think Martinelli overthinks the times when he is direct. He hesitates a little bit too much for me and Solis does that less and kind of attacks the opposition fallback with a little bit more confidence. I think he's got a better shot. He's not quite as good at least from what I've seen of him so far at the tight, intricate, link-up players trossard was, which I think was an overlooked part of his game. But I think he comes in with a very impressive goal on assist return. Obviously, he's not going to be able to replicate that because of the difference in the visual quality, but he looks like a good trossard replacement and a good squad addition, probably not a good left-wing starting every week level I would like us to have, but he's a very good player. A few of the managers that go in there, they've got to look at him as a week-to-week basis. Rather, he's going in for six weeks. It almost feels a bit too long, it might end up being like that, but it feels like you could still go and invest in that area of the pitch, right? Yeah, for sure. Not just that area of the pitch, but for example, if we were to sign someone like Alvarez, not saying that that will happen, but somebody doesn't typically play on the left, but plays in the attack. What does that do in terms of how he shift around people like is he going to get more game time on the wing? I could see that being soft-launched as well. I'm not saying he's going to be a start every week player, but certainly for the first two to three game weeks, I'm looking at him as like, "Yeah, I'm pretty happy to have him in my team." Percent chance to start in game week one, we know it needs to get through the next week without injury. Yeah, assuming we don't sign a player before then, I'm not going to say 100%, but like 80, 85. Okay, so a little less confident. Confident. All I'll say is confident enough for me to be happy starting with him in my field team. It probably feels like we might have a clear feeling on him after Sunday. Yeah, and also the yeah, for sure, and one thing I could potentially see happening is people might overreact either if he doesn't start or if he doesn't play well, but you've got to remember that Man City and commentary are two very, very different sides. I think commentary is a game that I think I will be pretty confident he will start. He might not start against, there might be a world in which he doesn't start against City because maybe I'll try to want to use as a out there. There's a chance of that happening. I can't see it personally, but yeah. Yeah, it feels like giving a chance. I think we're almost at this stage to me feel a little bit weird, unless he has a chocolate on Sunday, we're almost feel a little bit weird at the moment without kind of direct competition there in terms of players also returning from World Cup, six-hurt show. If he didn't start against commentary. The noise is a kind of growing of Martyn Ali potentially moving on. Yeah, I think Galatasaray I've been. It seems to be important. Yeah, 45 million apparently. But if he goes, you'll definitely add in someone else would be my response to that, so that needs an awareness as well. We'll come back onto attacking players. Just want to get a quick view from you on a departure Christian norguard. I know you won't have seen a huge amount of. He's gone to Everton. He's five million. I want to already give this to the caveat, say he wasn't in the Everton squad to beat New Castle on Wednesday night. But if you look in at him as a potential five million for Defconn, have you got any views on that? I don't know why he would have moved if he wasn't given assurances that he would start every week. He's my perspective on it. I know he was growing pretty frustrated by his lack of game time. I think I don't think he got as much game time as he was expecting Arsenal. So I think that's why he wanted to move on and it very much was something that he wanted to do. I haven't really got too much opinion on him from a FPL perspective other than the fact that Gomez from Brighton is also five million. So that's just kind of where I've gone. The fact that he wasn't in the last, uh, the Everton friendly squad put me off of it. Okay. Let's talk about what might happen. I know you've got crystal ball. A lot of talk about Mausley's scaling who scored against Komo last night in a friendly Manchester United Chelsea being speculated and I think Arsenal fans want him to go. I'm not sure the kid wants to go where I'm fortunate in this world now where you have to basically trade players though from a squad cost rule perspective. You also have a Z had serious interest. I think it's very fair to say I'm finished just junior, which thing also gives us the idea that there might be more to come. What do you expect him from Arsenal in the last couple of weeks in the transfer window? So I know it's pretty clear that we want to add in defense and on that left wing spot primarily potentially also in the kind of center. I think they're both probably contingent on the parches just to let you say a squad cost perspective, but also we've just got a lot of players like we've still got Fabio Villera, Gabrielle, who needs to go. Reese Nelson is still in the squad. Martinelli obviously as we've talked about what do Arsenal do with Ethan? Wanyeri, where's he going to get his minutes? So there are some pieces that kind of need to be decided. I don't think Louis Kelly is part of that group that will leave. From my understanding a lot of that talk was intermediaries, maybe kind of on the outs of Arsenal because both the club have reacted and said, yeah, he's not for sale. And the player quite clearly wants to stay as well. He signed a contract last summer. So I don't think Arsenal really want to get rid of him, giving his versatility, his potential, his connection to the club and his quality. I think we need a set of play, you can play center back and right back. Almost now as much maybe as we need a left-winger. I've kind of, for the last two years, I've been very much on the bandwagon of Arsenal, don't need any new striker. need a world class left wing option.
And even for most of this summer, that was the way I was leading. But looking at, in general, if you're to split the team into two, our options going forwards and our options in the defensive side of the pitch. The defensive side of the pitch is not only slightly weak up, but it's also much thinner, especially when you add in the timber recurring injury issues. Ben White, I don't really think you can rely on to stay fit for a whole season. And even when you can, I think it's fair to say he hasn't looked as good as he was before. He had that kind of succession of injuries. And obviously, Celebars going to be out probably until Christmas at this point. I think we all suspect that long. I think that's the longest it will be. I think they're going to have to be very, very careful in terms of how they manage his return. Maybe it will, maybe it will be November. But I don't think you can plan for him to be back within kind of like three months at the start of the season. I let this put it this way. I would be more comfortable if you told me Solis or some combination of Solis as a and one year where he will start on your left wing from now until Christmas. Then I would be if you told me it's going to be mascara and Ben White as your right center back, right back partnership. I think that does not do probably need to reinforce that when when we expect in timber back. It's unclear. So he came, he was part of the squad went away to Spain for preseason. Then he returned to London Colony, but my understanding is that that was part of a reintegration program. He's training on grass, but our tetas been very kg in terms of giving a firm timeline about his return. Yeah, I don't think so. Thank you. He's been training on grass for about 12 months. Adam, so I don't I don't read too much into that on full. I mean, I don't train on grass, but I'm not fit enough to play in a friendly game. Those listen to you saying about Saliba, maybe to Christmas, the idea of having someone that complied center back right back, you know a lot of the listeners and viewers are screaming about as Reconcert, right? Yeah. So I think Arsenal's interest is definitely there. We've already kind of not perhaps indeed us of the villa in the way we approach the Morgan Rogers situation. And it seems like Villa want 60 million for Concer and our first floated bid was around 35 to 40 million. So there's obviously a significant gap there. There was some talk recently of Jolk and they being unhappy that he is going to primarily be used as a right back. So there's potentially the option that the kind of we go into here and if it looks like Saliba will be out until Christmas, like if his absence is going to be longer term, I think, I think, today is the option will go to maybe the awkward, yeah, the awkwardness is though. Ultimately, when Saliba's fit. He'll play. Yeah. So if a Jolk and a science for you. He is going to not play right back. Well, he's going to probably let's say hypothetically does sign for or whoever this center back is who signs for us and Saliba is out for. Three months, let's say they'll start right center back for those three months and then probably be used in a more rotational manner both over congested fixture periods and as the Champions League starts to round part because then we get this is Saliba. This injury isn't like he's broken his foot and it's the first time it's happened and he's just injured. This is a chronic back issue that he's been managing for two years, two and a half years also and he's a young guy. He's a physical center back. This is the kind of issue I don't think you can be like right. He's back starting game X. He's okay to start for the rest of the season now. I think this is going to be something that needs to be managed a little bit more carefully. This is what mascara's for, isn't it? Absolutely, but I don't think as kind of potentially talented as I think he is and as much potential as I think he is shown. I don't think he's off the stand to be starting week and week out for the next three months also. Let's move this conversation into the FPL defensive assets and so first off, Gabri was obviously in at eight. Does that feel right to you too much must have? Where does it sit for you? It simultaneously feels right and too much because I think I think if you had a price of many lower everyone would be like, oh my god, what are you doing? He's so, so cheap, but at the same time, at least in the teams I'm seeing and the group chats I'm in, I haven't actually seen anyone start with him. So I think, well, okay, that's fair enough. Well, it's dependent on this conversation quite a lot, Adam. I'm okay, fair. I think I don't think you'll be in your team for much longer if it's that dependent. So yeah, I think it's too high for me to consider if Celebaw was fit and firing and ready for game week one, then it's probably something I would be interested in more, but the uncertainty over our defense when you add on the fact that the uncertainty ever where the rice is going to be fit enough to start the season. It's a bit like, yeah, maybe, maybe avoid for me. Okay, but it feels like this is how people will feel out and right? It's like I've got to have coverage of the Arsenal defense. So it's the simplest way of saving it just to go to the right at six million. Get the same thing in terms of minutes, even more assured than gabbell. I mean, I think you can save more if you want to go down to five five and get califiori. Hold on, hold on. I think that's the only way to get the same thing in terms of the game. I don't think our defence is going to be so stable that it necessitates a kind of set and forget pick if that makes sense. Like with David Raya in an ideal world, you'll pick him and he stays there until you wild card. And probably you pick him with the mind that you won't be wild carding for a while. I would suspect because our fixtures, like we were talking about earlier, we haven't got three promoted titles in a row, so it's not like three green fixes on the FDR at the start of the season. It also never looks horrendous consequence. No consequence. No, but I think those are the circumstances in which I would pick Raya and that's just kind of not what I'm seeing for us at the start of the season. Raya is awkward because of the bench first. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I think it might shift people's perception on Raya a little bit to go, okay, the 10, fine, Raya plays for me every week. And whenever this 4.0 has got a good fixture, that's just when I like to break the bench boost and not even plan for it kind of gig. A little bit like the Bravka situation last season. Okay, these five five then. So we've got Califuri, Hincapi, White, Muscarah. I got a feeling we already know the answer. I just want to backtrack on Muscarah then because right now that obviously looks safe from a minute's perspective in the immediate as the right sided center back. Or do you feel differently to that? The only and this is a small percentage chance because it is happening. But Marley Sammon, who's a young center back for us and was played, probably been our best player in preseason. He's been given more and more minutes. He's a player that our tetra is kept around the squad. The young lad. So obviously very, very inexperienced and it would be it will be a massive risk to start him from a pure football perspective. So that's kind of the only wrinkle in addition to the fact that we can sign someone. Control before the commentary game. Yeah, exactly. And to us, I don't actually know what concerts like return slash fitness is in terms of whether he's back with Villa or. The other game is during the super cups. I didn't see that. Villa's World Cup players didn't play in the super cup last night in the final four. Although PSG's did by the way. Yeah, I think France did a fair bit of that game off. So I'm not sure they were too worried. But yeah, so there's a chance if it's concert who.
we do if we end up signing him. - You'll see it coming, no, when you're just from that perspective. Like if you signed a concert in the next four, five days, then obviously, oh, I don't feel comfortable with mascara. I guess that, but I guess that could happen the night you beat commentary and then it's what about next week, kind of gig. I would think no, based on what you'd say, I'm looking at it from an outsider perspective and thinking, well, this is essentially his role is know that he signed basically as the second choice right side of Santa back. And the number one's not available. What does it say for him to not be involved regularly? I'm not saying every game necessarily, but to be involved regularly while Celebra is out. Also, he obviously got the trust in the Champions League final. I know it was different position and right back, but he was the one that was trusted in that moment. And I think Bar the penalty incident until that point, I think he did very well in the game before that, actually. So I would be very surprised, currently, if that wasn't comfortable for a little bit of time. I don't think you can go, that's my set and forget Arsenal sent about for 10 weeks, but I think for a little bit of time, I'd been so happy to feel quite comfortable about that, I think. - Yeah, my perspective is there's been so much noise and momentum has now grown quite a lot around Arsenal signing another defender. And I can't see us almost to your point in that he's young, he's proven himself so much. I can't see the point of us signing another defender if it's not someone to plug into the Celebra gap, if that makes sense. Like in an ideal situation, we do need a kind of a younger right back cover, but that's not really out of it. That's the kind of not the type of play we're talking about here. So yeah, that would be my only kind of caveat to that. - Okay, so I think we've probably preempted that you have a lean in a preference here for Califuri, which is a way more exciting pick. I totally get that. Why does that feel comfortable to you when we can all look there and see him cap, he's a massive threat? - Well, when you word it like that, it makes me feel nervous. - No, I've changed my mind. - Yeah, great project. - I think Califuri adds kind of much more potent, attacking dimension. I think when he has been fully fit, I think that's the preference that Otetta has shown. He's had the summer off. He's had a full preseason. Obviously, he can be kind of came back earlier from the World Cup, then the likes are like SACCA and Rice and that lot. But I think Califuri certainly to start the season, I feel pretty comfortable with. - And it's not a potent situation. - So charting, that's what people want to know, mate. Starting game week one, 90. - Okay, so the time, similar circumstance to Solus, where it's like, unless he gets injured or has a stinker in the community shield, then that's where you probably need to reach his other. - Clearly, that's a much more exciting FPL prospect than Muscarra quite clearly. So I assume you'd rule Hincapia the conversation at this moment. From FPL perspective. - Okay, be fine. Ben Wett, start right back the other side. - Yeah, it looks like it, yeah. Again, I think both his kind of form issues and fitness issues and the uncertainty over Timber's return make me feel like it's not a long enough term pick for me to be too interested in it. And talking as someone who is planning to hold my wildcard for 11, 12, 13 game weeks, I'm probably gonna use it over the first big international break around that period. But even then, I wouldn't be fully confident that white would stole those games. - Okay, yeah, I mean, we could even land in a scenario here actually where maybe you did sign someone like concert, maybe it's Muscarra plays right back, 'cause that's what it's all about. Champ is a final word. I feel like that feels nice, but he's very risky. And I don't think actually has quite the upside that a Califurie would I do prefer that risk to the other side risk. I just wanna finish on with them, with a little thought I've been having. I don't think I'd have started with Celebars at 6 if it was fit. This is what I've been thinking about. I actually probably would have paid the extra for Gabrielle or drop down to one of the others. Because I think Celebars quite like Vanilla, as a pick, is I'm putting him in for, I trust Arsenal to keep the most clean sheets in the league. And I'm sure that they probably will, but then I can have something a bit more exciting, with a bit more rich cheaper, or so with even greater threat, and probably more defcons for higher price as well. I've been wondering what I would do if Celebars was five and a half, and he was fully fit. And I think the conclusion on that would have been he'd go in. So if I felt more comfortable with mascara, it's an okay pick. But when I think about it, I also think, oh, right, so is mascara? Because I think mascara also falls into the Vanilla area here, right? It's like, well, there is more exciting to have Kirkers or Poro or Muno's if he stays at Palis. You're like, this is all way more fun. He's like investing in Arsenal for the sake of investing in Arsenal, rather than necessarily thinking that's you good FBO at it, does that make sense? Yeah, no, I totally agree. And I think that's what it would be. And also, I think something that you would have to factor in that Arsenal aren't the same defense without Celebars. Arsenal aren't as attractive. You shouldn't look as Arsenal defensive options as being the same level of, I've got to have this guy, no matter who it is when Celebars isn't there. I think that's something people are really overlooking because we're simply not going to be as good a defensive side, especially if Rice doesn't start the first couple of games. So I'm seeing a few people, and this I think he's understandable because I think your offensive assets will cover him off briefly, but we're only covering him off briefly because I don't think it's too much to actually say. So I am seeing a few people who don't like Solis and other stuff at the moment, actually looking at Guy and Treble Arsenal defense, to leave it, right? I just go, "Raya, Gabriel, my scare art," and I just leave that big. That's it. I played him every week. Is that a strategy you don't like at the moment then? Yeah, I wouldn't be on board with that at all. You think Gabriel matches his points total, Lassus? So I'm on the other way. From my point of view, three goals, five assists, 18 clean sheets, that's from only 30 games or 30 starts, I should clarify. So when you put it like that, yeah, I think he can. I think he can score more than three goals. But when I put it like that, I think, I'm just paying £8 million for him. Yeah, I'm with him. Yeah, but then again, that's in the mindset where you're. I think if you do that, you have to keep him for the entire season. You can't get to game week three, Arsenal of game week four, maybe Arsenal kept one clean sheet and you're like, oh God, maybe I've got to get another one. I don't think that's necessarily true because if you. You probably won't have heard it, but say the conversation with Johnny Pringle about Manchester City and picking the right defender, the moment he's like, "This is a bit of a nightmare." You do it with Drop Gabriel too, once you know the answer to that question or once you feel more secure on Call of Fiora versus in Cappy or shit, you've bought Ezri Conzer. I'll now say three and a half million and I'll get up from my five and a half to my Morgan Gibbs wire or whatever that looks like. Or once we know which attack you in asset might be interesting for you, I might, by the way, add in, I might still start with Arsenal double defense for clarity. Sacka and Rice, he's about to about Rice a little bit, but it's concerned with Bacchia Sacka as well. Obviously, it was never under-presenter in the World Cup and I don't think Declan Rice was either. First and foremost, we just got to rule them out for Fiora at the moment. Even if we think Sacka's going to start in one, are we still ruling them out at the moment? - Sacka's played like so. I don't think he'll start on Sunday in the community shield. If a sun miracle he does, which I just cannot see, because they only recently came back to training. He wasn't involved against Cormor last night, is that right? - No, I'm not. - Yeah, so he was. - Yeah, well, and as they started as well. I haven't even considered them and being on the biggest Sacka fan going on. Any excuse, and I'll have it in my team, but I don't have an excuse really at the moment. So yeah. - Okay, just briefly, just to come. The as a six and a half, I think I'd regard six and a half. Matter of reckon, maybe we'll start the season. Six and a half, Martin Eddie's also six and a half. They were all in the same price as Solis. Solis, for you and your mind, you're comfortable is the better choice than the rest of those. - Yeah, I think I can hear, I would hear a shout for Erdogan because I think he's come off a very strong World Cup and a better end to the season. And he's looked more, and he looks more front footed in the bits. He's played in pre-season. So I don't mind that as a shout. Obviously, that I think there's just more competition in the midfield.
than there is on the left way. So that would be the detraction there. - I think Ezhay's worth watching very closely at that price. I don't think it's one to start with, but I think it wants close monitoring 'cause I feel like it might kick on a bit in second season with a better understanding of what's expected of him. Also a little bit dependent what you're doing to transfer market may be. Marino is six. I'm guessing he showed again his value in terms of scoring goals at the World Cup. We have to lower look that at the moment, do we? - Yeah, scoring goals off the bench. - So yeah. - Yeah, I'll take that every week Adam. I think most of this would just take the six points and move on every week. - Yeah, that's fair. - Lewis Skelly is five and a half. So Zubimendi, so Max Downman, Wanyeri Fabio Vio and Nelson you will mention. And probably the last three are probably nose at the moment. I guess this is a chance Wanyeri might start game one. - I think Downman's more likely to start. - Okay. - It's a lot of us. So Downman is kind of a head of Wanyeri now, I guess in the kind of the British young player. That's going to have an impact on Wanyeri who already mentioned his every chance he might move on, right? - Yeah, I think I do think I was no more to keep Wanyeri, but they're also conscious that like a loan where he actually plays football because he didn't really get enough game time when he went to Marseille, thanks to your manager a little bit. Last January. So I think there's a chance he could be loaned up for the end of the window anyway. - Okay. - Any interest in Downman then or Luis Kelly? - The problem is that Downman particularly is a bit of a ticking time bomb because it's basically as soon as Sacka's fit he's starting again. And Downman then probably isn't really much of a consideration. Luis Kelly I expect we'll start the season but again there's just so many options for his role in midfield and none of them to me and massively appealing FPL-wise. So yeah, I wouldn't really consider either of them. - Okay, your cousin has both 7.5. Coventry at home game week one, why are we not looking at them? - So I've got three Arsenal players in my side at the moment, Califiori and Solace, we've spoken about. - I have it, it's the third. - All right, go on. - Thought we were just about to end this podcast, go on. - I think he's the best. - I think two of them have read the Yocker as versus old club narrative, that's what I think. - Well, he's faces two of them in moderately quick succession because obviously we play Brighton as well. - Wow. - So clearly that just wipes out all of the arguments I was about to make. I think Havats is our tetas preferred player. Obviously there is an element to which the tactical setup of the opposition that takes that, we've spoken about it before and you've spoken about it as well is that in the bigger games Havats has preferred because he offers more on the ball. He's better in the kind of defensive third as well. Yocker as perhaps gets the weaker opposition is the games that suit him more and you would think Coventry would be one of those games. I just think, I fundamentally think if Havats is fit, he starts and I think he's the better player. I think he's shown himself to be more adaptable in different systems, he even showed in the brief moments that they were both on the pitch against Komo that him and Gamer-Hash have, like there's an understanding there. There are a couple of times when Gamer-Hash was playing balls over the top and Havats was running in behind onto those so there's that option there as well. It's probably more of a heart overhead pick because I should be having Joe Pedro in that spot really. But yeah, that's where I'm at at the moment. Okay, narrative fearing. Havats starts as the nine against Manchester City, maybe again, the game opponent. Although it's community shields, how much of Bobba? I'm not sure. But it leads to a little bit of a surge maybe from an inultimately both play against commentary anyway. There's in Havats and Yoko's. - Mine. - We could have about that. - What we've discussed before about Havats and these importance, it was like obvious to us that Havats was going to start the Champions League final, for example, as the nine. We knew that. But I feel like, if you'll certainly in my mind that Yoko's does play against commentary, but it just think Havats plays, as you said, like a left-eight. That's how I visualize it for night one. You might be about to tell me something different. I'm not saying that's wrong. I'm saying that I don't think Arsenal have looked very good when Havats has played. In preseason, I'm bearing in mind, this is a preseason lineup where it's been like, we've had midfields of Havats, as a Lewis Kelly, Havats, Nguyenieri, Lewis Kelly. It's been very vibesy. There's not been a lot of kind of like, there's no sensible hat in that midfield, really. And I just don't think I'll tell the wants to set up with that loose of a structure on a consistent basis. Unless we're in a situation where you've got two of Rice's Supermandy and Gimmerage, and then Havats in midfield, that's when I think it could happen. But I don't really like that as a consistent pick for Arsenal. Have you got Jal Pedro, I don't mind. No, like I said, I should have him in instead of Havats. But if someone said you Adam should have picked Havats over Jal Pedro, it sounds like you were actually saying your advice would have been no. Yeah, I'd say I'd tell them to pick Jal Pedro. Don't say it, do as I say, not as I do. Okay. But Havats over Yocca is in your view. Yeah, yeah. Okay. I do think there's a small proportion, Adam, that won a bench, put one and get away from it immediately. And again, I think drawn to the free Arsenal in a way that like, you've just explained, how would you feel about Captain Havats under what you've just said in gaming one? Wow, the state of Adam's deep breath. It was the most unexpected question he's ever had on his podcast. Yeah, no, I really was. I really was. Yeah, I think I think the answer is no. I think I think you've got Holland down, Bruno Fernandes with both better options, probably. So yeah, not for me. Okay. As it stands, first morning predicted lineup for commentary in game week one next Friday night. So go Raya and go. Call of the Ori left back. Gabrielle left centre back. Mascara right centre back white right back. A midfield three of Gimeraj Lewis Skelly and Erdogard and then an attack of down and Havats and Solis. Okay. Thank you, Matt. I wish you luck for the season. No, no. No, say it to everyone. So you can have it as well. I wish you luck. I hope you have more injuries. You had last year high and it's not fatal to anyone. I hope you really struggle in Celebars, Absent, it's all that but a stiffly comfortable to best side at Adam. So ultimately definitely think you'll win it again, mate. Unless someone as we discussed was to start the podcast goes wrong. Those who aren't starting on treble Arsenal at the start, maybe having them in mind for a treble up come game week six. I'm delighted to say Adam Pritchard will be on Clashshire correspondence. We've had a challenger before the game, which six in counter with leads in the national break. That's it for day four. Correspondent week. Smash alike hit the sub button. Final day commentary, Vangeru, Gorman, Newcastle Simon, Billy Liverpool, we learn how to finish with Everton and Sean Norton. Adam, thank you, my friend. Good luck. Be nice to each other. Everyone smash alike it. Sub button. Q music, please. Manchild. The Anthos in football shows.
