Any Relation to Halle Berry? | Hour 2 (feat. Matthew Berry)

The Dan Levatar Show blends football passion with deep analysis of fantasy football, player performance, and team dynamics. It highlights how football season transforms casual fans into emotionally invested participants, fueled by live games, social engagement, and fantasy strategies. Miller Lite is presented as a symbolic, essential part of the game-day ritual. A major health segment promotes Dupixent as a breakthrough treatment for eosinophilic esophagitis, emphasizing its non-steroidal, proactive approach. The fantasy football breakdown examines key players like Jalen Daniels, Kirk Cousins, and Ramondre Stevenson, offering insights into usage rates, injuries, and matchups. The show also dives into dramatic team stories, such as the Brewers’ historic sweep of the Dodgers, and critiques coaching decisions, including Bo Nix’s poor pass efficiency and the Commanders’ disastrous overtime collapse. Commentary on media narratives and public perception ties into broader discussions about sports, labor, and player value. Throughout, the tone balances humor, personal anecdotes, and serious analysis, while consistently promoting responsible gambling and fan engagement. The show concludes with a celebration of football culture, community, and the emotional highs and lows that define the season.

There is nothing casual about football season. You can tell yourself you're just going to watch one game, and six hours later, you're emotionally invested in a fourth quarter between two teams you don't even care about. That's what I love about this time of year. The entire weekend becomes football. You're texting friends, tracking games, second-guessing coaches, convincing yourself you saw something before everybody else did. And then Monday comes around, and you get to do the whole thing again. Those are the weekends you remember. And for me, some of the best ones have usually involved some good people, a great game, and a cold Miller Lite. No matter what triumphs are in store this season, legendary game days start with Miller Lite. Cold, crisp, refreshing, that clean finish. And it's part of plenty of memorable football weekends. Make game day legendary. Go to MillerLite.com slash Dan to find delivery options near you, or you can pick up some Miller Lite pretty much anywhere they sell beer. Game time is. It is Miller time. Celebrate responsibly. Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 96 calories and 3.2 carbs per 12 ounces. Having uncontrolled eosinophilic esophagitis, or EOE, can mean you're stuck in many ways. Like cutting your food into tiny pieces. Or stuck chewing food for a long time. Dupixent dupilumab, a prescription medicine for patients one year and older weighing at least 33 pounds. Can help with that. It's a breakthrough treatment that can reduce inflammation in the esophagus and improve swallowing. You can get with this, or you can get with that. How about this? Dupixent is not a steroid. It proactively treats EOE so you can get ahead of it. Severe allergic reactions, including skin reactions, can occur. Get help right away if you have trouble breathing or wheezing, or swelling of your face, mouth, tongue, or throat. Tell your doctor of new or worsening joint aches and pain, or a parasitic infection or asthma. Don't change or stop other treatments without talking to your doctor. Feeling stuck with EOE? Start treating with Dupixent. Talk to your gastroenterologist or allergist today about Dupixent. Learn more at dupixent.com or call 1-844-DUPIXENT. You're listening to the Dan Levatar Show, in partnership with the DraftKings Sports app. Now live in all 50 states. These fantasy picks are delivered by Little Caesars, the official pizza sponsor of the NFL. Right now, score two faves just for you. A DJ. A Detroit-style slices and sticks for just $4.99. That's it. Only at Little Caesars. Officially delicious. Matthew Perry. Matthew Perry. Matthew Perry. Yes, sir. Matthew Perry! All right, boys. Among quarterbacks with at least 75 dropbacks this season, Jane Daniels has the highest scramble rate. He actually leads the NFL with 201 yards on scrambles. 50% of his fantasy points this year have come as a runner. It's not necessarily a scramble. It's not necessarily a stat. But the point is, despite being mediocre passing numbers and boneheaded time management, Daniels remains an elite fantasy option. Through five weeks, the Bills are 31st, second to worst in the NFL in past defense. They've allowed the fourth most passing touchdowns. And in fact, four of the five quarterbacks that faced Buffalo so far this year have thrown for at least 269 yards. Week six, Bills are in a game against the Raiders with an over-under of 53.5. You could do worse as a streaming option this week. Then Kirk Cousins. Bashal Tootin has seen his snap rate increase every single week so far this season. He's also seen his utilization score, a metric that we have at FantasyLife.com proprietary that uses underlying data to project future fantasy success. His utilization score has gone up every single week. His two highest target shares have both come in the last two weeks as well. Bashal Tootin on the rise. Two weeks. This past Tuesday, Travion Henderson, they announced he's going to miss multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain. Now, he practiced. He was limited in practice yesterday, so this one's a weird one. But if Travion Henderson does in fact miss this game, it's all about Ramondre Stevenson. Week one, Travion Henderson is out. Ramondre played 85% of the snaps, saw 23 touches. Since the start of 2024, in games in which Ramondre Stevenson sees more than 15 touches, he's averaging over 16 fantasy points per game. Travion's out. Ramondre is a top 10 play this week. After Dave Montgomery left the game last week, Woody Marks played 98% of the snaps, handled every single, running back touch for the Texans. Dave Montgomery, by the way, has officially already been ruled out for this Sunday. And so far this season, Woody Marks has been better than Montgomery in basically every rushing metric. I get that it's against the Jaguars, but against Jacksonville, they actually struggle against pass-catching running backs. They have a good run defense, but Woody Marks, I do think, is a viable flex with some RB2 potential here. Over the last two weeks, Kamani Vidal leads the Chargers backfield with a 39% snap rate, but Omar Marion Hampton has 32%. Keaton Mitchell, 36%. It's all a mess. Avoid this backfield. I'm not dropping any of them, but I can't imagine starting any of them either. Week five, Jeremy Bernard ran 94% of the routes. I know Dave Damoshek's excited about this one. Roll tide for Jeremy Bernard, the rookie out of Alabama. 30% target share for Bernard from Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers. With Michael Pittman and Roman Wilson both out for multiple weeks, Bernard immediately becomes a viable flex play. The slot receiver and a Mike McCarthy offense has generally always produced fantasy production, and that's where Bernard is going to line up most of the time on Sunday. Week five, Mike Evans, 36% target share. That was a season high with Debo Samuel off the field. Evans was targeted on 45% of his routes. Debo's not going to play. He's going to miss multiple weeks, by the way. Here's the wide receiver depth chart behind Evans for the Niners. Brandon Cooks, Jacob Cowing, Jordan Watkins. Wheels up for Mike Evans. And last one here, guys. In his first game back last week, Dallas Goddard actually led the Eagles with a 24% target share. He did that while only running 67%. In both of his completed games this year, Dallas Goddard has now seen at least a 22% target share. He gets the Panthers this week, which are bottom 10 in terms of most fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends. I think Tanner McKee is a lot better than people think. I know everyone's just like, oh, Jalen Hurts is out. I got to tell you something. Tanner McKee can play. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people on Sunday. Jalen Waddell's got to be a disaster for fantasy. Oh, don't even start. Don't even mention his name. I'm pretty sure Matthew Barry created two names when it came to the 49ers wide receiver core. Straight up, hadn't heard two of those guys. Right. Yeah, it's bad. The substation strikes again. I mean, listen, Brandon Cooks didn't start the season with him. Neither did Debo Samuel. I mean, they signed Debo in training camp. Like, it's been tough, man. I mean, all the substation jokes aside. I mean, you sit here and you look at Ricky Pearsall. You look at Debo Samuel. I mean, like, it's ugly out there. But they still got Evans. They still got Kittle. They still have Chris McCaffrey. And this is why I think Kyle Shanahan, if we had to vote today, to me, Kyle Shanahan is the coach of the year. And I think the Niners are the number one team in the NFL. Matthew, there's a quarterback substation in Denver that I think is zapping Bo Nix of his powers. Let me read you a stat. And I don't know if this is a good stat or a bad stat. JSN, 583 yards, seven touchdowns. All Denver wide receivers, 529 yards, three touchdowns. We were promised something in the Sean Payton offense with just passing everywhere and just everybody happy. And now we're looking at 4.9 air yards per attempt from Bo Nix. Yeah, it's been brilliant. It's been brutal with Bo Nix. Listen, Bo Nix was on my preseason hate list. I had him at QB 15 despite the first two years of his career. He finished as a top 10 fantasy running quarterback. A lot of that was because of the rushing, right? But this is a stat that I saw on X, which is unbelievable just to your point about Bo Nix. So this is from Doug Clausen, who works for CBS Sports. He's a researcher over there. There are 701 qualified quarterback seasons through six games in the past 20 years, okay? 2026 Bo Nix ranks 701st out of 701 in average pass length. He's averaging 4.9 yards, air yards per attempt. In the second half on Thursday, his average pass was thrown behind the line of scrimmage. And what's crazy is that if you look at his completion percentage, his completion percentage is down compared to some of his career highs. You're throwing it shorter and you're completing less passes. Listen, they're 4-2, so okay, but there's no question it's a bit of a disaster here. They tried it with Davis-Webb's. They've gone back to Sean Payton, but it ain't good. It ain't good, and they are very, very lucky to be 4-2. I'm curious, Matthew. So Bo Nix isn't startable. Sam Darnold isn't. We've now entered the window of buys, and so you might need to pick up a quarterback. Where do you come down on? Jalen Daniels versus Tanner McKee versus Aaron Rodgers. And I'm also curious. I'll just throw in another one. Is this a big spot for Kirk Cousins this week? I think it is sneaky because if they lose now, okay, the shine of September is over with. Now it's time to get Fernando in there, and don't you want to pick up Fernando Mendoza right now to answer at your fantasy QB spot? Yeah, I mean, look, Cousins is my number one streamer this week. I mean, it's what I said during the 10 facts, right, is the fact that, you know, Bill's 31st in pass defense, four of the five quarterbacks to face Buffalo this, season have thrown for at least 269 yards. If you look closely, the Raiders actually haven't even been able to run the ball. Gentee hasn't been great on a yards per carry average. And so it's really been on the arm of Kirk cousins. And so, yeah, I mean, they're heavy underdogs to the bills, obviously. So they're going to have to throw to keep up. I do like, I like cousins then Rogers, if you're looking for a streaming quarterback this week. And then after those two, I do think Tanner McKee, give me Tanner McKee over Jalen Daniels or who's the other guy you mentioned? I don't even remember. Yeah. It doesn't matter. Throwing a bunch of different names at you because you might like, I think there is some, some argument for Jalen Daniels. He is a wild card. He might go out there and run around again for another week until defensive coordinators figure him out a little bit. He might, he might, but you know, they're playing your Steelers. I think it's going to be, I think that's going to be, you know, sort of tough sledding. I think I'd probably prefer Tyler Huntley. It looks like he's going to get another start this week. So I prefer him probably to Jalen Daniels. Like it was a great story last Thursday and to his credit, like he's had 10 days to prepare. But for this, but I'm, I am and I'm reluctantly doing this day because I know how happy it'll make you, but I'm a believer. I did a thing on my, my Roku show this week about, you know, they were like, is this Rogers? Is this a Rogers rebirth? Or is this, you know, just kind of like some scheduling luck, you know, cause they played some subpar performance. And I'm like, no, listen, I don't, I'm saying he's, he's not peak Aaron Rogers. He's not peak Aaron Rogers, but he is playing within this system. There's obviously familiarity with McCarthy and he's, he's, he's maximizing what his 42 year old body can do. He's getting the ball out quickly. They're taking some, they're taking some shots. Jalen Warren's been awesome. Finally free Jalen Warren and the defense is playing great. So I'm a believer in the Steelers team. And so I don't know that Tampa Bay is going to have the same success they had last Thursday against Pittsburgh this Sunday. Matthew, lastly for you here as a commanders fan, what was the end of the game last week? Like for you? It's awful. Ridiculous. It's insanity. You know what I mean? Like, it's like you get out of the J I spent 20 years in the Dan Snyder desert. Right. And for 20 years, it was just awful. It was shameful. Yeah. You know, you wore the Scarlet letter, the Scarlet red R, you know, just, you know, that, cause you were a fan of this team and it was awful. And like, people would come up to you. It's like, ah, just see the latest allegation and you'd have to be like, which one, you know, how would you see the other, that lawsuit that just got filed against your team? Which one? I mean, you know, so many allegations and lawsuits. I mean, six different States sued the, the commanders, the NFL sued him. He had to testify in front of Congress. Like it's awful. And so what you thought as soon as Dan Snyder, they finally got rid of Dan Snyder. We're like, ah, thank God. I'm no longer embarrassed to be a commanders fan. It's no longer a national embarrassment. And then, and then that happens. It's just, it's just an Epic failure on every possible way. And you know, Dan Quinn to his credit took responsibility from the podium. So did Jaden Daniels credit to both of them for saying, Hey, that's on me, but you know what? Like with Dan Quinn, right? It's completely boneheaded, but Hey, I got an idea. How about not give up 14 points at home in the fourth quarter? There were two touchdowns, right? How about not needing a missed field goal and a cam scataboo fumble to even have a chance at winning this? Like they shouldn't have even been in that position, but then you do that. And it's just, it's so stupid with Daniels. They get to the 26 yard line with 55 seconds left, no timeouts. And they're just la la la lies, just looking up. And then, and then if you watch that play closely as I have, because all of my friends keep sending it to me, the wide receivers are slow to get back. Yeah. So it's not like there was just no situational awareness to anyone on the, on the field. Like, it's not only like when he gets there, like, Oh, we got to get back and spike it. You see some of the receivers in the linemen kind of jogging back until they realize, Oh, Oh crap. We've got no timeouts and it's six sections or whatever. And then, then they speed up. But if you look at the, at the very beginning of the end of that play, they're kind of jogging back. Cause there's just no sense of urgency and that's ultimately on Dan Quinn. And you know, it's whatever this it's just, it's a, it's a lost season. Now they got to go on the road at San Francisco. That's the Monday night game. The 49ers, I think are going to kill them. And it's just whatever. And then, and then there's a buy and then they play the Rams and you know, it just, it's a, if there's one saving grace, it's that this division is the worst division of football, the NFC East. So if they could sneak out a win against the, you know, against the Niners, then sadly they're right back in it. Cause the division is so terrible. I'm sorry that I left you. I'm sorry. I left you sad. You were in such a good mood and now Matthew Berry is sad. You could check out Matthew's new show pregame with Matthew Berry on Roku streaming weekdays, noon to 2 PM Eastern, and listen to full episodes of fantasy football happy hour with Matthew Berry on Odyssey. Great job, Matthew. Thank you. Thanks guys. We'll see you next week. I'm Tony. Like if it's, if it's my team and you know, look, they're, they're not any good now this year. So there's not going to be any playoff hopes. I don't think so. Oh, he said, you know, it's the worst division, but I'm it's automatic kick a hole in the television. If that's how my team loses. And that's what, that's why Matthew Berry is sad. So. That's friends. I thought, I felt that was a shot at you. He said, my friends are sending me that video. And like I say, I feel like that was directed at you. You're assuming you're assuming that, that Matthew was listening to the start of the show when I admitted, I only have a couple of friends and that's why I didn't have anyone to go with to. You should have hit me up the Panther game. Yeah. But you, you live, I wouldn't have gone. You live in deep Miami. Yeah. I wouldn't have gone. Yeah. I can't ask somebody in Miami last minute. Hey, you want to drive an hour and a half to come to the Panther game? I live eight minutes away. You're going to text me next time. Would you have come? Not last night. All right. And sticking with commies, by the way, in our nation's capital, the football team is called. The commies to make it worse, by the way, I had a parking pass also, like meaning I bought a parking. Wow. You so truly, you just gave up all that money for nothing. And, and your get in price was $0 from the start of the day. Well, you'd already spent the money. Yeah. Right. Like no more. Yeah. Girl math. Whoa. I'm very surprised. You talk. Oh boy. Very surprised. Girl math. Yeah. Come on. You can say that. Wow. You can say girl math, girl math. My, my personal girl math on that is that if I've already spent all of the money and I go into the day already having the tickets in the parking pass, it's free to go to this game. So really made you that uncomfortable for me to say girl math. Let's try to move past. Well, and you know, when, when you asked me about bringing you, I started, you know, it threw me off. Out on the road. It's nice to have a partner who could help you make the most of your journey. A partner like the loves rewards app with loves rewards along for the ride. It's a mean, and you know me, I love me some movies. I'm really excited about this new movie coming out. It's called the mosquito bowl. It's the incredible true story of four college football stars who walked away from NFL careers after Pearl Harbor to go enlist in the Marines for Friday night lights, director Peter Berg and starring Nicholas Galassine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis comes a story of brotherhood and sacrifice for men who traded the gridiron for the battlefield, the mosquito bowl in theaters, October 30th, Dan Levitar. I'm a red blooded American male case. I'm not afraid to say it. Mike Ryan. I want to bang Tinkerbell. This is the Dan Levitar show. So a couple of days ago, that flying car was incredible. Tesla might be onto something. We had Noah Centineo in studio here. Do that while I text. You could always go back in the archives and you can watch or listen. 16 Wheeler. Boom. Not anymore to previous shows. Because Noah Centineo is promoting the future. You all wanted what street fighter movie and street fighter officially came out last night. Dave damage check. Do you have any interest in the street fighter movie? You and I are close in age. So I'm sure that you are, uh, you, you must've been very aware of the street fighter video game. Are you into the street fighter movie at all? I feel bad that I'm going to let you down here. No, I was more of a karate champ, half point, full point more than I was street fighter. So no is my answer, but maybe, no, I was looking for a friend. It seemed like you kind of hit it off. Oh, he loved. I'm a huge fan of his. He loved me too. I think we're friends now. So the street fighter movie came out yesterday and you got to go to rotten tomatoes. Got to see on rotten tomatoes. All right. Very, very different scores. Media wise and audience wise, not surprising, which is not surprising for that kind of movie. That's like right. Exactly. The type of movie that would get the largest possible split, right? Like why would the media go? I'll watch like, Oh my God, the cinematography, the story. So good street fighter, but the audience you would think is going to love it. So street fighter, 45% media score, which is not terrible. So it's below average, but like they're not telling you. It's not good. They're not telling it's not 5%, but it's not xenophobe. Okay. Cause that's 40, 20, 20, man. Uh, but the audience score 82%, that's very high. The audience is telling you that it's 40. I was corrected. They, Love the new Street Fighter movie. Mike, do you remember? what the old, 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme, do you remember what the original Street Fighter scored on Rotten Tomatoes? No. Now Rotten Tomatoes didn't exist back then. That's why I don't remember it. But it has a score now. It does. Media score was 20%. Audience score was 20%. So the audience will tell you it's terrible, even if they like the video game. But this one, 82%. I'm excited to see this. Even with the Guile monologue at the end. Really? The audience didn't pop for that? Maybe that's why it was so high. I'm gonna get on my boat, and I'm gonna kick that son of a bitch bison's ass so hard that the next bison wannabe is gonna feel it. Who do you think's gonna be a better Guile? Jean-Claude Van Damme or Cody Rhodes? Probably the American guy. Playing the U.S. soldier and whatnot. I know you guys want to see this movie. Yeah. But ultimately the movie you have. You have to go see. And maybe make it a double feature if you want. You have to go see You Can See Everything. This is the documentary that Nathan Fielder made along with Lance Oppenheim, who just did Primetime. And this is about Elizabeth Holmes. Is that the guy who did Oppenheimer? He's got a point. So this is about Elizabeth Holmes, who created Theranos, who's now in prison. But basically the month before she went to prison, Nathan Fielder went and lived with her and her family and just recorded everything. Yeah, it's Prince Fielder's brother, Chris. Wow! This is the type of look you could see from Elizabeth Holmes. And the most amazing part of. She looks mousy. Yeah, this movie is fascinating. If you put ears on her, she looks like a mouse. No, she looks a little bit, her eyes look a little bit like a cartoon mouse. Yeah, she looks mousy. Something about the eyes I don't trust, by the way. Don't forget, Jeremy said girls have their own special kind of mask. No, so this is the whole thing about Elizabeth Holmes. Oh, I uncovered the movie? Is she's known as the greatest con artist in manipulating people, in being able to convince them to invest in her company, in being able to convince them that this technology that she had was working. But the premise of this documentary essentially, like, is this real? Does she truly believe that she's innocent? And it's her, and it's her husband, and it's their kids, and it's the relationship that Nathan Fielder builds as he is. How long is this movie? This is almost a three-hour documentary. And I'm telling you, guys. I can't do three hours of Nathan Fielder. Guys, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Nathan Fielder, every single thing that he's done in his entire career has led to this moment. Whether it's Nathan for you, whether it was the rehearsal, Nathan Fielder's at his best. This is going to be the first documentary ever that's nominated for Best Picture, and I think it should win. It makes The Odyssey look like a bad movie. That's how great it is. No, I'm telling you. It is that. I went and saw both of them in the theater. I have never seen a theater react the way that it did throughout this movie, and I promise you, this is something that you have to go see in person. Nathan Fielder, my friend, your magnum opus is worth a toast. Worth a toast is presented by Cuervo. Keep it fun, and keep it Cuervo. Wow. My friend there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, my friend. Okay. Your friend. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Okay. I like his stuff, alright? I thought it was amazing. It's a really good movie. I could tell. And honestly, I'm telling you guys, like, you want to go see it before you get spoiled. We got it. Zaslow, I'm curious if you buy my powerhouse analogy that I floated a couple of days ago. Elizabeth Holmes equals Lane Kiffin. Do you get that? Any relation to Monty Kiffin? Powerful, rich men to fall in love with them and give them great sums of money and provide nothing. No, this is a great, this is actually a really great comparison if they weren't all shitting on it. It's very straight. It's very good. But Zaslow, a question that I asked a couple of days, a couple of weeks ago when you were out, and I'm curious for your insights here, because you talked about the Oscars. Have we already seen, has 2026 already seen the best picture released? Yeah. Or is it yet to? No, no. We saw it. It's the Odyssey. You can see everything. I know so. It's the Odyssey. I can't wait to see the Odyssey again. I don't think it's coming out streaming until December. Let's go already. I gotta see it again. By the way. Yeah, but we're just now entering, we're just now, Oscar season. Don't care. All the movies that come out that want to win the best picture award are just now being released. I'm with you though. I'm with you. It's wrapped up. You can see everything Rotten Tomatoes scores. You ready for this? Please. The media score on Rotten Tomatoes for You Can See Everything 100%. The audience score on Rotten Tomatoes for You Can See Everything 99%. I told you. The movie is 2 hours and 54 minutes. It's spectacular. Make me sit through that. I promise you, I thought, like I really thought last night that I was gonna fall asleep, because I'm like, I'm going to see a documentary. I'm really tired. I haven't slept a lot this week. I was anticipating falling asleep in this movie and being upset with myself and I was hooked from the moment I started. Any relation to Capitoline? Mr. Baseball, was it the movies? While the Dodgers? Yeah, I went home and then watched the game after that. I did. So you weren't that tired then? It's nice. Because now I was riveted. Now I was riveted and something really great, honestly, about recording a baseball game and then being able to do the 10 second skip between pitches. Now that there's a pitch clock, you know the way that it's going to work. It's awesome. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. That was a good one. So, last night, the Dodgers, the Dunzo, the Dodgers. It's over. And Otani had a 3-1 homer. A crowd must be going batshit, right? It was the Kirk Gibson moment. They must be going crazy. And the Dodgers led 4-0. The Brewers come back. They win the game 6-4. They win the series in a sweep. But does the Dodgers losing, does the Dodgers losing affect the negotiations that are going to take place this offseason with the Players Union and Major League Baseball? And I say that because it feels like the Players Association is now, like, this is going to be a bullet in their chest, you know, where it's like, hey, you want this salary cap? Big bad Dodgers didn't even make the World Series. And look at the three other teams that are still alive. Brewers, Rays, Guardians. You're going to have a low payroll team win the World Series this year. That's going to be something, that's going to be a main talking point for the Union to tell you that they don't need a salary cap. It's fascinating because the way that both sides can spin that, right? Like, if you're. You went, like, one joke too far there, Chris. Like, you were good, and then, like, you pushed it. You pressed your luck, you know? Right? If you're the ownership side, you can look at it and say, oh, I guess, well, you know what? We don't need to give out any big contracts. Can I really change your look? Because. It's getting increasingly difficult. That was a good one. So, if you're ownership, you could try to spin this in a way where you say, hey, we don't need to give out the big contracts because look at what we could piece together if we have the smartest possible front offices. And you could still look at a salary cap and a salary floor and say, fine, we'll just move the salary floor down. Clearly, you don't need to spend. I don't think that's how this goes. The PR of all of it is in a huge. huge benefit for the players because what they proposed was pretty simple. They proposed a strong tax on both ends. Well, can it be a huge PR win for them? Like, PR means you're trying to win the public. The public wants a salary cap. Well, the public wants a salary cap because they don't really understand why baseball doesn't have one and why the labor suffers from a salary cap. Like, there is a strange thing, and we've talked about it before, and Dan brings it up all the time, which is that, like, why do we, as labor, always agree with ownership? That are the people that are trying to squash labor down? Easy answer for me, and I say this to him every time, because ownership, the team, ownership's goals almost always align with my goals as a fan. It's really not that difficult. Is that true? Yeah, absolutely. But their goal is just to make money. That's why they want a salary cap. And they want what is successful for the team. Do they? Because that's not really what this is about. But players, obviously, also want to make money and ultimately are going to do what's best for them, before the team, which is the side that I'm on. But wouldn't you want the same thing for yourself in your workplace? Yes, but I'm not a player. I'm a fan. So, like, that's my lane. Yeah, I get that. And I understand you're rooting for the organization over rooting for the individual. Always. But, ultimately, this becomes a PR win just in that what you can show is, hey, there's not really anything wrong with the sport. Like, the big bad Dodgers, it was a two-year run here, and now we'll see what happens with them in the future. But you see a team in the Brewers that's been building toward this for a long time. You see the Guardians. You see the Rays. They're all playing baseball in a way that, by the way, is aesthetically more fun than these other teams, where fans have gotten frustrated by the home-run, strike-out, walk style of baseball. These three teams that are left remaining play the most fun brand of baseball that you're going to find, and they're doing it on the cheap. Now, is that ultimately good for baseball? I don't know. but this is a big win. for the players, at least from a PR perspective for now. They can pitch it toward the fan that way. If you ask David Sampson, he's going to say it doesn't matter. He's going to say that the owners don't care. And maybe they don't. It might not matter. But it is really fun to see a team like the Brewers do what they just did, go into Dodger Stadium and upset LA. I don't like the word blue, but I do have at least one pal that I can think of who has. Actually, he says he fell asleep in coitus. Dave Demichik. You may look at me and be surprised to hear this. I happen to be a vigorous lovemaker, so that would never happen to me. We don't celebrate that there is a team named after beer nearly enough. How great is that? The Brewers. And they used to have. He used to slide after a home run into a big. They don't do that anymore? Well, not into beer anymore because the residents of Mount Pius. Saw fit to say that that was inappropriate for children to see. But Zaslo, we park our cars in the same garage. I am, as we all know, society's greatest empath. But Tashay hits on a key point. What you want as a human being is different than what you want as a fan. Or I guess I should say, Zas, you are right about that. You are. The owner is the house always. And we want, as fans of that team, we want the team to do well. And at some point, you understand, oh, this superstar. He's our player. He's our most popular guy. He's our best player. Of course, we support him. But when it comes down to the wire and the conversation becomes. Wait, he's not going to play? Who is this selfish SOB? Doesn't he know that a title is on the line for all of us? The house always wins. But I do wonder with these elections now, Nye, and the vibe is the grotesquely wealthy. And I know baseball players are very wealthy, but they're not billionaires. I wonder if that outside noise applies some pressure. On the side of the owners, that the grotesquely wealthy, it's enough already. Pay the working class. And maybe I'm trying to talk that into reality, but I do wonder if that is a factor in these coming months. So the Dodgers, they're done. The Brewers, they'll sit around and wait, which I don't think the World Series begins until next weekend. Any relation to Adam Dunn? That's right. Does that sound right? It's Friday, October 23rd is when that starts. And what the Brewers were able to do, I mean, it was amazing. Like, to be able to be. I believe they're the first team ever to get swept in a best of seven. Yeah, this is across, this is OptiStats. First MLB, NBA, or NHL team to be swept in a best of seven series against the team that swept them the previous year. So they just won 4-0 after being swept 4-0 last year by the Dodgers. And to go do that and win those games in LA in comeback fashion, they're down 4-0 in that game. Otani hits a home run. You feel like, oh man, the tide's really turning here. At the very least, the Dodgers are going to get this one. The fact that they came back the way that they did, they're relentless. And they've done it with guys who have absolutely no business being in the position that they're in. Seriously? Do you feel like the rest of that room respects you, Jeremy? Not even a little bit. I kind of, like, I'll just stop. It's fine. It's fine. I'll go. Man, I wish there was someone with the last name Stop. Did you guys see, did you see Caleb Williams yesterday? Saw you. I guess. Is Caleb Williams, he's on track to play this weekend? He's going to be returning? Full participant Wednesday. Okay, good. So, you see Caleb Williams yesterday when he met with the media for the first time since he's returned from injury? This was a weird exchange yesterday. So, Caleb Williams is up there and he's, the media is trying to figure out, because remember when he got hurt, he was in tears, he was in a lot of pain. You thought he was out the next five seasons. And as it turns out, he's only going to miss a couple of seasons. He's going to miss a couple of games, all right? This is actually an emotional dude. Like, we've seen this before, all right? Where, wasn't it, you had the one game when he was at USC where after the game there was some attention where they lost and he went to his mother and he was crying and, like, he's an emotional guy. He wears it, you know? And so, it's really not surprising that he suffered this injury. He probably thought it was worse than it was and he was super emotional about it. But he did not appreciate the reaction from some of the media. And here, the media is, like, they're trying to grill him on how bad was the injury and he is just not having it. There's nothing that has come out that has been right about what it is and what it has been. And so, that's been fun to deal with. And so, I would say from y'all's side, things like that, is being able to report it and go through it in the right way, right manner. And then from there, if you haven't heard it from, you know, boss man himself or, you know, out of the horse's mouth, me, you know, it would probably be wrong, which every single one has been. And so, that's that. And that's really in shape, keep my body moving and things like that. What would you say was the injury? What would you tell us was the injury? It was a hamstring tear and a pretty serious one. Did they give you a grain? Yeah. We got a grain. We got a grain, but I wouldn't say it's deserved to be put out there after all the false ones. So, next question. Why keep the details of the injury secret? Because it's not deserving. Why? Just not deserving. Next question. You take exception to get it wrong. It doesn't. Next question. Thank you. Next question. So, every single one of them was wrong? Right. Every, like if someone said it was grade one, grade two, grade three, grade four, they were all wrong. Okay. Everything that's been. Maybe size more? Sorry. There you go. Everything that's been put out there is wrong. He is not interested in telling the media the severity of the injury. By the way, hamstring tear is a bit of a rhetorical trick because any sprain is basically like small tears and whatever the muscle is. So, it sounds a lot worse than it really is. If he's not willing to say it, it's clearly grade one, right? Yeah. Yeah. If he, because if it were grade four and it was super severe. He wouldn't be playing. He's going to tell everyone. Well, no. He would just, he would tell everyone, this is what I'm going through. This is what I'm going through right now. I'm so tough. It's grade four. Like, it has to be grade one, which again, I'm sure I'd be in a wheelchair, all right, if I had a grade one strain, but it has to be grade one. And he. First of all. Yeah, Dave, he is not interested in telling anyone. Well, first of all, I don't, I am fascinated by everybody up on Mount Pius now denouncing riding on a cart. I mean, I want to make it clear. It was so over the top, the reaction. I am broke. Oh, cart. I like carts. I'm going to keep using carts. And if you people are too good for carts, then don't use them ever again and see how life works out for you. Good luck walking the 18 holes. By the way, let's get golf to 12 holes. It's enough after 12. I give you a binary choice here, Zaslo. Which do you want? I don't know that either guy is the right comportment for the face of the franchise and all of that, but given that they went one-two in the draft, would you rather have as your quarterback, Caleb Williams, who probably is a little bit more of a quarterback, but I think he's a little over-emotional with the crying and all the rest of it after the hamstring and everything. But I also found Jaden Daniels' reaction to what happened in overtime a little glib for my taste. I know they play grab ass and shake hands and trade jerseys right after the game, but he was way too smiley in the moments after that as though he didn't really understand what had even happened. And in the press conference, he was sort of like, his vibe to me was, oh, is this really a big deal? I'll wear it. I'll wear it. He was like, hey, man, you just blew the game. You could be a little more down in the game. the dumps we could use a little caleb williams here okay so you're asking me which quarterback would i take between caleb williams who looks like he has potential to be one of the best quarterbacks in the nfl at some point or would i take jayden daniels who when the game is on the line has zero thoughts in his head yeah i i'm not even in skill i mean i i think that they're probably pretty closely aligned ultimately in in physical talent but i mean which quarterback do you vibe more towards as a fan caleb williams for sure i want the guy who cares very very much me too have we ever heard anyone else make the claim that golf should be shortened to 12 holes i've heard brooks kepka make a similar argument really he's like i get bored after 14 oh really yeah it's enough like you make the turn it's nice you get it you get a beer maybe a wiener but you know once you get to 12 you're like really how much more do we have here jesus it's enough already you told the wife you're playing 18 though 12 and then all of a sudden show up after 12 play 18 well i mean yeah i don't have any friends zaslo and i maybe you know what we have we have a twosome now we need we need two more tony maybe i i want to invite lewis to be our third and tashay is our fourth hey good we got a foursome to go out and play 12 you should do the move though sometimes where you you go to do play 18 honey i'm going out the fellas play 18 you only play nine you cut it out after nine oh this guy and you hit the bar you just have a nice little nice little long lunch before you head home i have i have two clips for you guys we're only going to play one of them do you want to hear stan van gundy doubt the miami heat or do you want to hear joe mizula take phone calls from fans oh yeah mizula yeah all right so joe mizula on 98.5 the sports hub in boston the boss is going to be here in a minute and we're going to celtics head coach must have like a regular hit with these guys and he decides he wants to take phone calls from listeners the host though they don't think it's a great idea let's see how it goes but we got to give the people what they want we got to connect with those people more so we just open up the phone lines chris and avon with a question for you joe what do you got chris joe i'll be honest i mean when you first took over as a celtics head coach like i really i didn't care for the way that you you kind of handled yourself i mean when you're talking to the media you need to realize that that's kind of like the you know the medium between the team and the fans so when you kind of be in like short with the media and you're kind of giving them an attitude it makes you a real unlikable guy but what i did want to say is what drives me the craziest is at the end of game at the end of quarters there'll be 20 seconds left or 23 seconds left and tatum just gets the ball and pounds it into the ground gets a crappy quality shot off and it never goes in and it's just a waste of possession like why is there no creativity why isn't there anything like better drawn up you asked for this joe this is what you wanted i think it's hey i think it's great what uh first chris i apologize for being a product of my environment i mean you know we're all from new england i you know we all grew up being short and and uh being relatively yeah being relatively a-holes and uh you know so i i gotta step away from my environment and um but i think you make a good point all right good point i think i'm i think i agree with the address the tatum part no no no can't do that i think i love i love the northeast people always say you know st louis is the gateway to the west pittsburgh is the gateway to the midwest because it blends the northeast attitude with some midwestern nice these philadelphia and boston fans who love to puff their chest out is like hey we're assholes aren't we why that this is a point of pride fascinates me to no end week six has plenty worth leaving the couch for texans jags from london ravens browns chargers chiefs bills raiders cowboys packers on sunday night commanders 49ers on monday you know that moment at a party or a tailgate where everything just sort of clicks i know it well it's usually when i show up everybody goes crazy yeah you usually take all the credit for it but it's because tony usually walks in with queer walking like this yeah yeah yeah cuervo is a thing that turns hanging out into this is the night it has that effect on people it does you usually take the credit for it but again it's the cuervo effect it's like that moment in a big game where everyone in the crowd just starts standing up hooting and hollering keep it cuervo the cuervo baby
