Another Broncos Comeback, Lamar Hurt & Impressive Lions w/ Nate Tice. Plus, Did Riley Get His Signature USC Win? (No)

The Ryan Richelot show delivers a detailed breakdown of the latest NFL games, focusing on Detroit’s innovative use of tight ends as fullbacks to exploit Minnesota’s defensive gaps, resulting in a strong performance against a top-tier defense. The analysis also critiques Denver’s offense for its reliance on fourth-quarter comebacks and inconsistent execution, while highlighting Tampa’s historic win as a bright spot. The discussion includes a broader debate on the relative strength of Minnesota’s defense versus elite quarterbacks like Kyler Murray or Justin Herbert, with the show concluding that the defense stands out as a top-tier unit despite recent flaws. The episode also features promotional content for NutriFull’s newly upgraded vegan hair growth supplement, offering $15 off and free shipping with a promo code, and promotes DraftKings as a nationwide sports betting platform with exclusive incentives for new users, including three months of NBA League Pass. Nate Tyson is with us from Yahoo Sports in football 301 to recap an awesome week of NFL games. So we're going to do some choice come back against Minnesota. We have to spend time on Denver again. I don't know. The Broncos fans are going to enjoy what I have to say about that one, but they're too seed in the AFC. I even have some bills thoughts, even though it's super disappointing that that was kind of the game with the Lamar injury cam burrow injury there for Jacksonville. And I want to preview you Monday night because I know Nate is fired up about the spares in Seahawks matchup. We start with Detroit, Minnesota. How did Detroit just all of a sudden become a power running team and close this one out? It was an inspired kind of formational tweak that they did and it's something they kind of did at the beginning of the game. And I had been curious with how the lines would attack the Vikings defense because they've had nice answers in the past. They still have the same old line coach Hank Frailey who does some good good stuff protection wise, wrong game wise. And what they did is they leaned into bigger personnel, but they put those two tight ends that they were using into the backfield. And which was super interesting. So you think of a tight end. It's a tight end on the live scrimmage, but they used them more like fullbacks. And I think it was a really interesting way for Vikings defense because what that does is why you want backfield runs is what we'll call it just multiple skill players in the backfield outside the running back is it can change the gap for the defense to account for. So you know, that's I think that's sometimes people don't understand what defense of football they have to be gap sound. And then you have guys like you know JJ Watt where they do better b's which is better be right and they go rogue and they they read the offensive playing go to where they're not supposed to go. But that's again, those are the weak guys. So in between the garden, the tackle, there's got to be defender. In between the garden center that's got to be a defender. In between the tackle and the tight end, there's got to be a defender. What the lines did was what's put instead of those two tight ends being on the ball and like a wing or a hip what they call where there's a tight end another guy next to them. They put them into the backfield as a fullback and a fullback plus one two guys back there. And really what it does against the Vikings defense that wants to be so screwy and movement after the snap and then have their safeties fly down is it creates new gaps that they have to account for. And for a defense that wants to be so fast and they have such great formation tendencies that they pick up on. They just now it's something to account for. It's window dressing. So I call it double side car. Others call it offset full house. There's just it's just different ways to say the same thing but use those two tight ends in the backfield and then there's other ways they got to a two where they had an offset tight end in the backfield like a fullback and then the other tight end emotion at the snap. But what they're doing is changing the gaps for the defense to account for. And again, it makes the Vikings who want to tee off on everything. All these smart defenders has to take just that second like okay do I have outside him do I have inside of him and they just ran staple runs lead zone plays that you'd see out by formation of something sort but just gave that little window dressing and it was great. It was unbelievable. They had 21 snaps of two backs yesterday. And this again this multi tight ends they had 34 going into week eight so much match their season total in one game. They have five snaps of three back looks. They had zero going into week eight. So is it unscouted look and I thought it was just really good for stop from petting. Hank Frailey just a nice little little window dressing to get to their staples in it. Let's have some really big plays they went sorry last little stat here 14 under center runs with two or fewer two or more skill players in the backfield so two back or three back runs. They went for 125 yards one touchdown 11 of those 14 were successful against the best defense in the NFL that has been doing such such good stuff to offences. Yeah I was looking at some of the personnel stuff and I was like okay wait a minute what's happening is like oh it is still 13 personnel for the tight ends in lined up as you mentioned behind the line of scrimmage and then on the James and Williams touchdown pass it was funny because they actually went to three wide receivers but they were bunched and then at first I'm like wait a minute okay nope those are receivers like you know because I'm trying to do this stuff at times but what I noticed to your point is like the thing that we love about Minnesota's defense is that okay borders are seven or eight guys up here like what's going to happen nobody knows who's coming and then you know Gibbs kind of gets the whole thing started on that first run that is completely blown up by Minnesota he's it's an off tackle run to the right side I think that's what it was designed to do who knows maybe it was inside of it but it's to the right side it's completely blown up there's a ton of traffic and Gibbs I don't want to say no one else in the NFL can do that but he has the best chance to turn that play into something good probably of any of the running backs even if they're you think there's like two guys better than him at the position even though that list is maybe not anybody at this point one maybe right right it's Beja right is those who were talking about it than less you know Barkley's healthy so Gibbs turns that one into something they had a stretch of 10 runs that produced 120 yards and I thought it was Gibbs making something happen it was the old line which continues to be a big part of this Detroit story this year so even if you want to get into all the formation stuff I don't know that it mattered as much as there was blocking there was Gibbs and then Valky comes in and has a couple huge runs and on top of it it was like I remember I wrote down there was 17 mistakels in this game by Minnesota's defense now sometimes I'd be like well that's a mistackle but that's also Gibbs so that was harder to tackle and as they mentioned that in the broadcast Valky runs again to the left side they missed another tackle so it was like okay let's throw an 18 on there so all of these different things were happening and it just felt like whether it's Campbell whether it's the offensive coaches it just felt like a collective we can't just expect golf to go back there let's play this like a normal game we're only down a score we have plenty of time and that's what I was so impressed with is that they didn't just decide to go one dimensional because this old line has been really good like looking at the Blake Miller stuff looking at some of the Scroggs things even that they lost their center in this game there's some stuff with this old line where you're like hey it was a question mark this summer we know the story of Detroit is this defense and not having enough bodies there which we'll touch on here in a second but I don't know how many other teams with golf who's having his best season of his career would have said hey let's just attack let's actually be one dimensional the other way because you're right then one there was like a passing down you could see that Minnesota was kind of going back to the basics because it was like we we actually don't know what to do right now because we can't just line seven or eight guys up here and T off and I'm the touchdown play on the Jamison touchdown pass yeah Minnesota sent six and they blocked it great which is not what you'd expect of Minnesota is sending six rushers against any offensive line that's the thing and they used and this is what's been standing out to me with the Vikings because you know they're a topic of the season like they are one of the main units of the season and just studying them is on top of all their aggression they're just so well and with what the offense wants to do. Tenancy-wise, formation-wise, where the personnel is all lined up. And even on that Jameson Williams touchdown, they've done this a couple of times now, where if you notice on that one, it's shotgun, and they play action out of shotgun, which is not what the lines usually do. They usually run the ball or just like a straight pass out of the shotgun, like we're not gonna get to play action. So the Vikings are just like, yeah, here we go. All right, so Ron, they don't do play action out of this look, but again, we'll tendency breakers. And I, it's really good stuff, like just to have, yeah, it's good concepts and the players make it work. Like, that's another thing for a ball. - 'Cause you have Jameson running against Harrison Smith who's thinking, run, where you could see Harrison just just like, okay, whatever. Like, one, this is what second hesitation, game over, right? - Yeah, and that's what the NFL is. Like, people say game of inches, but it really is. One half second of hesitation, especially against the defense that wants to be so aggressive, and that's just gonna cause them to do that. - Great stuff, great no with all the missed tackles, 'cause I think they ended up with 19 missed tackles the Vikings did. - Which is the most missed tackles. - Under Flores. 'Cause I think it's 17 if it's the most. But I don't, when I saw the graphic, I didn't feel like, hey, it's a game where they're missing tackles all over the place. You're granted, they also have 12 points up and to that point. Then the other part of this story is, you've got the three now where I watch it again this morning for Minnesota. 'Cause there's still very much in this game. In the prior touchdown drive from Kyler's, probably one of the best single possessions he's had all season long. They hit Addison, and I don't know if you watch the all 22 of it, but they hit Addison for a four yarder. It looks like Jefferson beats his guy, it's blocked. And if Jefferson is going deep on that, it's probably worth taking a shot. But you can imagine two Kyler's going, hey, let me just take the four yards, we're in second and short, hopefully we'll be third and short. Runs stuffed on second down, I mean it gains two yards, then it's third and four. And I don't know, Jefferson's covered on the right side. I don't know if Addison getting the ball, where it had no chance, and Kyler just throws it up into double coverage against him. Makes Jefferson more upset that he didn't get the look, or if Jefferson was more upset because he was going to beat his man, and it's like, hey, let's take another deep shot. Like you just did with Addison, where's my deep shot? And then he was beside himself, the sideline didn't talk to the media after the game. He had nine targets, he did end up with a touchdown. But I think for Vikings fans, it gets a frustrated the way everybody talks about their team. It's like, well, this is why people talk about your team this way, and despite all of us loving what we've seen from you defensively, like you knew this was going to happen at some point, where this offense just wasn't going to be able to match what the defense is giving him every single week. - Yeah, and it's just-- God, no, I've watched so much. - I think it's matched by the way, 'cause they haven't matched it all season long, but go ahead. - Yeah, but just keep a little bit of pace. Dude, do their part. Other than the Saints game, which is the only game where I felt like they actually had an offense, then it was still, just a little still to that times, but that was the most times that I felt like they fed Jefferson. And you could tell, the other good drive the Vikings had was the end of the first half, and it was the one that Kowr threw a pick on. And on that drive, Koc was really trying to get Jefferson going. He got him on a bootleg, got him on a screen, like, "Hey, we're going to get you going." They moved the ball, and then an interception happened. And throughout the game, the Lions have done this under Shepherd, and now Aaron Glendon, and then now Shepherd, as they totally are saying, like, "We're going to make other guys beat us." Like, they were doing one double 18, where they truly have four eyes on number 18. And that's where Hockinson's two catches came on that, but I think that's where Jefferson gets frustrated, is, of course, the also the Lions DBs, like the talk. So these receivers are going, like, you know what they're saying? I'm taking you out, I'm taking you out, and really, they're getting double teams, so that makes Jefferson even more angry, 'cause he's like, "You're not beating me, you know?" Like, you're getting help, you should be able to talk shit here. There's a couple plays where he had, what he thinks is, I would agree with him, is that this is my opportunity to get it. I got a one-on-one here, so the ball should go to me, and the ball goes elsewhere. And that gets frustrating for a receiver, because it's like, yeah, they're doubling me. We'll just make up a number half time. And then with other throws, I understand whether they're going there, but these five throws should go my way, because I had a one-on-one, and I have an advantage, and yada, yada, yada. Like, even the Addison deep ball was pure gravity of Jefferson, 'cause Jefferson's running a dig on that, and the safety doesn't even care about the post behind him. He's just staring at Jefferson the whole time, waiting for him to run his route. And the Vikings do a nice job of using that gravity against defenses, but this whole offense doesn't have any sustainability. So the run game's not great, that's what the Lions had a huge advantage anyways. So then the passing game opportunities become so boom bust that Jefferson's not getting fed and kind of the flow of the offense. And that's, it just feels so stilted. I would just rewatch his offense, and it's just, Kyler's not throwing on time, so that also hurts it too, because Jefferson's so many of his great routes should be on in a rhythm, like, hey, he's running this comeback, the ball's got to be out. As soon as the quarterback's taken a second hitch, he's out of the play, because it has to be on time. So I think that's just where some of this frustration comes from. Just, and I think the Lions had a good game plan, and the Lions DBs have a little, like, they're weak in a little bit, but also DJ Reed matches up better with Addison, because they're size-wise, as opposed to, like, the Panthers, who just had these horses just dunking on them. So it was just a nice, just a bad personnel thing for the Vikings, and that this is why when we did our absolute North thing last week, I was like, I can only get so high on this offense, and I'm an optimist, but I'm like, this is like, 24th at best offense, 'cause they can't run it, and Kyler's not gonna be a guy that came down to down efficiency. He has to be a boom bust. And right now, the boom is just not happening enough. It has to be happening once a drive, and it's happening once a half. - It's also with Detroit, and of course, the Campbell story sucks, and on top of that, like, they're missing five guys on defense by the time this game is over. They get Branch back, they're thrilled. He's knocked out, and there's two players end up with a concussion, and it's interesting to say that about Reed, 'cause against Carolina, I was like, okay, so Branch and Krabby are out, and I'm like, Reed is getting lit up, and then I feel like the last couple of weeks, I'm going, all right, there's something there. Like, this guy's kind of in it. The coverage seems a lot better from him, but I don't know, as you mentioned, if it's a body type matchup thing, just something to think about there with Detroit, it is a little. - Chuck Ministrux, too, by the way, sorry, the center that's stepped in for the Lions, 'cause they lost their center. - Yeah, he was playing, then Maze came back, and then they put Scruggs back in, and everything, some of this causation correlation, all that stuff, where it's like, some of the change of the offense helped it, but he's been playing, he was part of the trade for David Montgomery, that the Texans made. And Scruggs has kind of been in and out of the Texans offense line up, line up, and I think he's just been a good, just straight up, just a solid, to good starter this year. So like, I just want to give him a shout out, too, because he could definitely see him step up when he had to in this game. - Yeah, I mean, there's some golf pressure stuff, he's got the fourth lowest pressure rate in the NFL, 'cause I was looking at some of the juice numbers, once they had to shuffle it again, when they lost their center, and there's a lot of these guys that are, and I'm not talking about like PFF grades, I'm just talking about win, rates on pass block, run stuff, and there's a lot of Detroit Lions names on there, even in a day where they obviously felt really thin on a defense that we know as part of it, because there is a bit of a comp here, and I wanted to talk about this Minnesota defense here a little bit, 'cause you still, like you can't sit there and ask like, oh no, what happened to these guys? When you go, you have to do this every single week, and the question has been now for about a month, is like, can this be the 15 Broncos? Can it be the Brad Johnson Buccaneers? And I think the difference with Kyler is, is that even with Peyton throwing for 100 plus yards in Super Bowl, you know there's gonna be a lot of decisions within that game that Peyton's going to get right, even if his overall numbers, and he didn't have to do anything offensively with that Denver team and that defense, or is it gonna look like the Rex Grossman Bears? Is it gonna look like the Mark Sanchez-Jets? Like, and it feels like without that experience that that's what it's gonna start to feel like a little bit. But yeah, I wanna do what, I wanna do an exercise with you. If it's just for the rest of the season, Minnesota's D or this quarterback, how deep would we have to go before you would pick Minnesota's defense? - We're getting, so like my arbitrary kind of like tier stuff, it'd be like the low end tier three quarterbacks, so I guess like, I got to about 16 names. Are you serious? I would say, I'd say 12 for sure. And then- - What are the 12 for sure quarterbacks? - And then three, and then three kind of like, okay, now we can like start debating. So I'd say, so they'd be essentially QB 16 for me, locked in just the Vikings defense, compared to all the other, I mean, that's saying something though. I mean, just that's a true needle moving unit. But I'd say, I'd say 12 quarterbacks I would take for sure, like without hesitation. But then the 12 that are no hesitation. - Oh god, now you have 'em. - Well, Josh, you don't have 'em? - Okay, I do have to back this up. Josh Allen, a healthy Lamar, if we say a healthy Lamar, I would say Drake May, Joe Burrow, I would take Trevor right now, how he's rolling, Mahomes. So I had, Dack, we're gonna, now we're getting to the territory. I would take Caleb right now, I'll take Jordan Love right now. Stafford, we're getting to the territory. Goff, we're getting to the territory. Pretty, we're in this kind of area as well. And then I also said, unfucked Justin Herbert, you know? But I can, 2026, Justin Herbert, no. But like usual Justin Herbert, yes, you know, I'd take 'em there. But we're talking about that quarterback 12 to 16, 17, 18 range. You know, Stroud, we're getting into that range, which I consider kind of low end tier two, to tier three. You know, so, you know, then you get like, question marks between Daniels. You know, like I would like I would probably take the Vikings D over him right now, but like that's the territory. I'm talking. Are you saying like five? Are you know, I don't think it's five. I stopped. I mean, look, Alan is a lot. Lamar. I didn't pick because he's hurt. Yeah, right again. Okay. Drake is a yes. Rose, yes, Trevor's, yes, my homes, yes, Caleb's, yes, Jordans, look, Jordan loves, yes, shout out to Mike Sando. He had this note this morning that if you look at the Packers running back efficiency and the number of dropped yardage they have because right now the Packers are leading the NFL in percentage of passes that are dropped and it's a pretty staggering number. I think it's over seven percent. So if you run through since 2013 when they can track this specific thing of like dropped yardage and combine it with the lack of running back efficiency. No one has had a worse combination out of 446 quarterbacks than Jordan love, which Nate and I like to remind listeners of this show. This is why we fight for Jordan love. Okay. This is why we this is why we put him in these anywhere not put him ahead of burrow. We're not doing that. But this is why we put him in the next group. And we continue to fight for him because that's just staggering. I think you're doing or that everyone just everyone says they want quarterbacks to play a certain way. And then they watch Jordan love go, he sucks. And it's like, this is what you guys are all banking for. Well, the guy that just sucks it and checks into offense like handles the entire offense bounces around the pocket. He doesn't even want to scramble even though he's like a decent athlete. It's, yeah, I don't know. It's He's such a such a great player. I thought there's that the drop the drop yardage thing is hilarious to because it's like it's not like just like a drop on like a five yard out route. It's always like the most. It's like a 40 year old for a 10 40 year. There's all these like bad Jordan love kind of team stat quarterbacking numbers that I was looking at this weekend. And then you realize like, okay, but Then he's also doing all of this stuff in combination of how terrible the rest of this is. Right. Right. Receivers passing it right. And all lines here. Right. And it's it's pointless. I mean, they go in that Carolina game and you're like Carolina is the worst against the run. You're like, all right, whatever. You know, right. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. It's just a wash. They shoot it. But what Jacob's finished with like 21 carries 18 yards. Something like a Jerome Betis stat line. They are the other thing too is I think through five or six weeks. Love was like the most hit quarterback on record like if you include sacks and hits like he was like through that six weeks or whatever it was. So it's like even though he's not even taking sacks, even though he's just getting hit like at a record pace. It's it's cleaned up the last couple of weeks, but at least they're the first five or six weeks. It was just absolutely brutal. 26 carries against Carolina. The worst run defense like a big number that they're giving up per game on the ground, 2.5 yards per carry. And they're like, Hey, Jordan, we know what the game plan was. We know we signed with food. Do you mind just throwing it 40 times here again? Look, I think it's kind of in that eight or nine region. Herbert. You can't you can't use for this season. I think jeans are reach. I'll give it to him though. Like that first half last night. I'm like, man, this looks bad from him again. But he started putting things together. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I struggle with him because it's like the there are so much good that I do enjoy because he's accurate. He's got some good zip. But then just how he's reads the game. Sometimes I'm just like, he leaves me on the bone, even though he creates so much. So I he's such a conundrum for me because it's just like when I watch it back, I'm like, why don't you just throw that little eight yarder. It's right there. Everybody scrambles for 15. And you're just like, you know, and that that's hard to weigh. Like how much do I weigh? I don't think that's hard. Yeah. I think after a while you go stop doing that. I don't think he ever will though. That's it's how he was in college. Most guys scrambled the highest rate on record. I don't think he was in a backup is in two years. Yeah. Oh, yeah. All right. So let me let me just try to hammer this down. This Vikings defense, which we have spent so much. So this is not about the Vikings defense missing tackles anymore. Okay. Because like again, that's another great performance going up against goff who's the hottest. He's ever been. Okay. And his his MVP odds. He's still like, I don't think he's behind like nine guys still because there's, you know, look, he just gets ding. Because the lines just have so much name talent, you know, like Gibbs, Amara, St. Brown, even James and William's got that. Laporta's got that a little bit like they he gets ding like that. It's so I think it's I think he gets ding though. Because like what was always the game plan against goff? It's like, hey, get him off of his spot. I mean, get him off of his spot. You get him out of their play action. Like this guy becomes really, really average. And I actually thought that was like a fair assessment. It's like, okay, well, if you're telling me like nine guys are always better than him. Then if I'm going to live at 10, like that's not really that bad. And I think decision wise, he's he's terrific. I think it's just a matter of like if we make it a little tougher on him, he has more challenging at the time than the truly, truly elite guys. The thing that's happening is we point out on this pressure rate thing. Nobody's moving him off the spot. So he's just firing back there. Um, but I don't want to send any more time on that because we already did it. So Minnesota, you would rather as we talk about goff the rest of this year, you would rather have goffed in Minnesota's team. Oh, you see it as this is yes. I probably would just how he's cooking right now, but that's that's the area though. That's tough. Because it's like that Jordan loves your brain to you. Pardon? Jordan loves a no brainer to you. Yes. Jordan loves no brainer just because of what he can create with a bad situation. Goff. I've seen kind of as it comes down. He does take a little step down, but that, ah, so now you caught me. But now you caught me on the thing because he does need some circumstances around him to get the most out of them. Even though I just wonder if you asked like defensive coaches, they would pick like three quarterbacks. And if they you asked offensive quote coaches, they probably take 10. I thought it was around eight or nine. But when you think about like how the sport has played and everything, like it's like Josh Allen might be the perfect example of this. Like you said he's doing. Do you see what that defense isn't doing? Like you would rather have the Vikings defense. Then something like that. Now if you're making it just about Josh Allen, maybe that's unfair to the Vikings defense. I don't know. I don't know what the, I don't know when like the perfect cut line is that it's probably the way you see the game, but like we grow up being like I'll take that defense and figure the rest of it out. Other teams have done it, but watching Kyler through majority of these games, you go, this is this feels a little Rex Grossmanish Bears than it does Manning Dawgos. That it does. And even again, they I picked the Vikings to win that division just because I figured this defense would be this. But the math of that was not it was it's the reverse average average. And I he's been that like Kyler has been an average quarterback above average to good. Like he's touched quarterback eight 1012 like in season. So I was like, all right, take quarterback 18 and boom. Look at the math of this. The rungum will be average because it's with receivers with that coaching staff. Like we'll be good. They had horses. The guys that can create some plays. Like so he does. It's not how it doesn't have to all be on him. But like I just thought there'd be so much better flow with this offense. And it's just like one week to try this next week. They're trying this. We're going to try this run play. We're going to do more gun this week. We're going to do more of this play action this week. And it's like the grass match straws already and they already had their by week. And that's right. Yeah, that that's yeah. The math of them again is just not working out right now. I'm going to be honest. I don't usually get excited about loyalty programs. They promise big rewards. And then it's like, you actually have to eat 48 pizzas to get one free. So when I heard about the Shell fuel rewards program, I was skeptical shocking. I know me skeptical. But here's the thing. It's actually kind of annoyingly practical. You're already getting gas. You already grab and take out. You're buying snacks. You definitely don't need, but absolutely deserve the Shell fuel rewards. You just get rewarded for that and not in a fake point you'll never use way. It's actual savings on gas and the part that got me the savings staff. So it's not like one sad little discount. It's you fill up, you eat, you shop, and it all piles up into real savings at the pump. Joining takes less than three minutes in the Shell app, and you'll save on every fill after that. Literally every single one. So if you want my wreck, join the Shell fuel rewards program and save. Denver's the two seed in the AFC. I don't want I'm Brown Coast fans. No, I love you. People in Denver. I almost moved there. I love that place. This is not, but I hate great town. I hate that they're doing it again this year. I hate that bone X is getting away with it. Last year it was like, hey, this isn't any good. They won again. This isn't supposed to happen two straight years because he's worse. And now I'm wondering if we should just accept that the Broncos are the AFC version of the Vikings. Except the defense might still is more getable, which makes it even more confounding, I think. Because it's not the defense is good, but it's not too well. I don't want to compare anything to the Viking Seahawks, the Tampa which you're saying that wakes up today. The number one defense in the NFL, which is its own conversation. We have a little, we have a quick hit around Tampa, but there's some parallels at least. Yeah. Oh, there's some parallels here. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Right. So how about this? So started last year. Okay. Again, bone X finished with a sub 40% passing success rate. Are they 20 and five, I think, over the last 25, which is like the best in the NFL, I think it's 20 and five. They've won 15 straight regular season games decided by once. score. We're an unprecedented territory here. The chiefs are 80 and two with Patrick my homes when they have a double digit lead in the fourth quarter and then just lost that game. They're just in their own own world right now. That doesn't matter. Rules don't matter. So again, 80 and one in those scenarios, 10 minutes are left up to scores. Yeah. Yeah. Double digits. I should say that digits. Yeah. And yeah. Now they just won. Yeah. That's the thing the chiefs offense. I had no real qualms with how they were operating. I rewashed it. I was like, they actually had a pretty good day, which with PS2 back. So again, nicks, sub 40% passive success rate. You want to get into the high 40s and that's a good day. So sub 40 is like a, that's a below average day at the very least. I would even say sometimes you can touch poor since the start of 2025. The win lost team record for teams with a sub 40% passive success rate. All other teams have a 28.7% win loss percentage. They're 77 and 191. The Broncos are 11 and three since the start of the last year. They have a 78.61 percentage. They like you just just kind of lay out. They keep just doing this. Like and it just doesn't matter until the fourth quarter. Then they hit three big plays. They score in the red zone and then they win the game. It's just like the same exact story that I've now seen for multiple seasons. But that again, it just the normal stats outliers just do not apply to them. I don't even know where to start with this one. Nicks had where he went to intentionally ground it. Yeah, behind him. Yeah. So it was a fumble. So Trotland luckily holds on to the football. When Kenneth Walker went to run it on third down where I thought it was, I didn't really love Walker's rushing attempt on that one, but I can't really either. Yeah. That's the downside of Walker. Sure. Yard. He's not. He's not great there. He hesitated and that allowed the backup to get him in the hole that he chose. I just wonder if he goes Charlie Garner inside of the guard on that if he just momentum wise because the other guys are being blocked. Like if you're being blocked, your strength is not there. You're the freedom to meet somebody in the hole. And he doesn't think he doesn't think the safe. I think that was a safety backup safety that came up and got him. So look, that's a different thing. Bonyx celebrates. I think he thought the game was over or they didn't have a time out or something like that. Yeah. It was sort of full on celebration too. Like we won the game celebration. It wasn't like, yeah, I'm just good play. He loves his team that much and he's that hyped up. So like, I could go through all sorts of like completed air yards for nicks. Lastly in a fill, completed excuse me air yards purchased attempt, not getting the completions. It's so bad. It's like to buy a lot that he has less. He has gotten worse. And so I don't know if I'm annoying about nicks because I thought it would go in the right direction. I'll even throw this out to you. I love the broadcast. JJ is great. Nancy is great. And it's not just them because somebody in the studio did it the other day, but it's turning a bit into like, it's like when I say I don't like somebody in the NBA and then the guy scores 30 in a playoff game. And I go, I can still not like him. And I can say that it doesn't mean I thought he was going to have zero points every fucking. Okay. He's a professional fucking quarterback. Right. So yeah, every nicks number tells you it's going in the run direction except for the win lost column. And then he'll hit what was the second and 18. Like he had two good rips there. Yep. And then the analysis was like, oh, thought this guy couldn't throw the deep audio because he can't because he doesn't. He chooses not to. It doesn't mean that we said he's never going to complete a fucking pass over seven yards like ever. And so there's been this bit of defense. And I'll even add this to it. Kyler Murray, I guess we've just accepted. Nobody does that for him. Nobody does that for him during the games. Is it because nicks is only on year three. And it can't just be because of about wins. So nicks gets talked about in that maybe it's in the pre-production. Maybe Sean Peyton gives him all the royal jelly. Maybe nicks is like really impressive because he just says like the right things and he's respectful and all that kind of stuff. But it's almost like he's being sold to you during the break. And like look Denver fans, I give up. I fucking give up. I had to give up last year. I give up again. They're the two seed. They always win these games. And it doesn't seem to matter because the rest of the team really is that good. And your boy Jonah Coleman, who you loved, you were all over with him back there. Like it actually gives them a little bit more juice with their balance. And that yeah, I have gotten this before too. Usually in regards to like Jalen Hertz. When I'm like when he throws over the middle and Eagles fans will come at me. I heard he doesn't throw over the middle. It's like you know, Shaq shot 50% from three one year. Because he shot three of them or two of them. Like, you know, like that. Yeah, it's gonna be a high percentage. And the one I thought this guy didn't do this thing. That's been confirmed that he doesn't do it when he randomly, it's like again, nobody said that Bonyx is never going to complete a pass for 20 plus yards. It just doesn't happen a lot. And that's why we want it more. That's that's really what it is. No, I know because that's second and 18. That's exactly why he's he's so frustrating because Nick has incredible tools. He's an incredible athlete. He's got a huge arm. He just doesn't use it. And I think that's why it's so frustrating. Just play quarterback. No, I know I'm right with you because this happens to me all the time. And then the reverse when you say something really nice. And then a guy makes a mistake and they just go, I use it. This guy was perfect. I can't get there human. But all those stats that use like that, the area is per attempt 5.6. That's like Alex Smith commanders territory, which is a tough way to live. They're in the one that the Broncos fans just like the Hertz over the middle Broncos or Nick doesn't throw over the middle either, which is why that you never feel like the passing place turn it to like a big yak opportunity, which is like catch tackle or catch throw underneath. And that's the opposite of what Cincinnati does. Like when you watch Cincinnati's guys go, you're like, what's going to happen now? It's so much fun. But go keep going corner out. T Higgins breaking three tackles. I know tight ends are breaking tackles. No, it might be because of those guys too. Yeah, go ahead. That's that's that's an under appreciate thing about getting the ball out of time, even if you're checking it down and you you bring this up all the time that you hate the little submarine throws late and then the running back gets killed. When you're in the flow of the offense and you get to the check down on proper timing, as opposed to like too early or too late, the yak opportunities better because you're catching the defenders still before they are adjusting like. And that's why I think some people they're like, why is this always work for like my homes or something like that's like because he's doing it right. He's throwing the check down when it should be thrown at the you know, the proper except against the battle. It's like we can see that. Well, that's sales whole game is to make you do that. And then it's just they just tee off on it. It's incredible. But no, it's on top of Nick's though. It's like he doesn't throw in the middle. I know the people bring up the 20 or more ariard stat like when he completes it. It's like when they complete it. Yeah, it's great. He doesn't really push it like that. He's top five and throws from outside the pocket because so much of his stuff. He just escapes, escapes and they put him on the move. But then it's just all these throws underneath underneath. But I'm glad he brought the Jonah Coleman thing because the two big catch passing plays that he had the one at the very end and his first catch where they should have a score. But I don't blame them for not doing it. But then they didn't want him to like they try to stop him on the first and goal run too. Yeah. Because I think they're like, oh, okay, maybe we'll hold him to a fuel go and then he's still scored. And a nice little cut back on it and everything. But those the catch right before that is something the Broncos do like so much dash pass. I've brought that before. It's just an extended sprint out. But then they had that one. And then early they threw a swing to him. And why I'm bringing this up is that like it just feels a little bit more legitimate with Coleman getting those touches. And it's like that's what helps when you have some players that actually are creating something a little bit. The long catch around the very end of the game was just the chiefs had nobody near him. But he still was doing a little something with it. But it's like he provides just a little more juice for that offense where it's like it's not just the worst run game that just runs into the back because they're off. And it's next throwing another check down. It's like at least provides a little bit more juice. But I don't understand the Broncos. And it, but it's just one of these where it's like they did it again. Same, same exact game flow every single time. Fourth quarter then opens up and they do some. I think they started the second half of three, three and outs. They did. I like just yeah, it's just just how they operate. Apparently they had three in a row. So I don't I mean, I can double check it here right now. I want to ask you something real quick is like on the Coleman run, I don't blame them for not. I'm not a huge let them score you guy, you know. But the up six up three field goal decision and this is long been talked about of like, okay, but instead of punting and going for being up six, then you're inviting the other offense. I mean, this is pretty common sense. It's like the danger of being up six. It's like, okay, but I still would rather have to have them get in the fucking end zone than getting to that 30 to 40 yard range. Like what are we talking about here? But you are obviously more inclined to be far more aggressive and take more shots. Stuff that's scarier to defend. But if you look at the butter decision to go up six on the field goal miss, he is past 50 yards now kind of a mess. He's two of six this year. He's 9 and 19 in the last three years. So you're kicking. That's a 54 yarder. So Denver's getting it back at the 44 with 231. It's not across the board terrible, but it actually is one of the few times where you can run the numbers on it. And it's like, hey, you're supposed to punt in that spot. And if it were Bucker, prime Bucker, which it has not been now for a little while, then it's been no issues whatsoever. I'm not even necessarily being like super critical of it right now, but like these are parts of the things that happen. You go, well, how do they blow that lead? And it's like, there's a Joe Coleman play, there's Nick's ripping some throws. There's, you know, the miss kick decision, the short field, and then of course you're right tackled, decides to fall start on fourth down in the game when he touched down. Unbelievable. I thought actually even on the last play of the fourth down, Trace Smith got sought off. And I was like, that would just be the capper for the chiefs that they lose their right guard on a dead play because, you know, well, I'm just trying to get the ball out. On top of the Bucker things and really even on top of the 50 orders is like he's, he's missed one extra point this year. Like last year he was missing a whole bunch and usually that's the kind of like indicator of bad things are about to happen because then they started just getting their hands on this one. Guys, we're like, he doesn't get a lot of rebounds anymore. I'm tired. Yeah. We don't want to double jump for these and bang down low with the guys that are double my size. No, I, that's the thing is like little indicators of other things, negative or positive about to come. Like we can talk about like for running backs, like Ash and Genties run speed is like very slow right now. And hence Mike Washington's getting a bunch of touches, but it's like, I see it, if I see it, I'm sure the Raiders see it, but I think some of these things too where it's like extra points are kind of the indicator of how healthy your kicker is like because those are should be the gameies that we should be locked in on. He's missed five for the last two years and seven over the last three years. But yeah, yeah, just not a weapon at all. Massive win considering what KC could have been, they could have been the two C today. They would have been four no in the division. Denver would have been two and two. So, I mean, you want to talk about, if you were doing college football resumes right now, Denver would be number one in the AP poll, the, the wins that they've got, the best wins. Go through it. You would have a hard time finding two wins that are as good as the four for any other team in the NFL. I haven't done it necessarily off the top of the head, but I was like, I want to maybe next week do that. I might do it with you. I not do it with you, but since the college football rankings are coming out, if you had to like rank the 12 NFL playoff teams using college football approach to the whole thing, the Broncos are the one seed that way because because of the resume stuff. All right. I'm wholeheartedly agree. Can you name the three quarterbacks the last time the Ravens had to play three quarterbacks in the same game on the same game? Oh. All right. Do you want me to give you the year? I suppose to do this, but this is kind of my stick. Is, was that like an '01, was that like an Elvis? You're a thousand. Somebody's good. 2000? Yep. So was it? Was it 2000? No. Oh, okay. All right. Get to go back. Remember? Yeah. Oh, no. I want to get it. I can picture. It was Tony Banks one of them. Yes. Tony Banks. Okay. Yeah. I can't believe if you're getting banks, you're not going to get the other one because I'm just really. Was Delphur already on the roster then? Delphur. Delphur. Okay. So Tony Banks. Delphur. And. What was it? Redness. Oh, I'm just, I was racking my brain. Who's worn? Turn around in that. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Wow. I know. I can't believe I got Tony Banks first. Oh, well, if you've gotten reddened first when he was drafted that year and the third rounder and he played in two games, that would have been more surprising. All right. I brought up so version win on my show last night that just really if we want to talk about 2000, 2001 quarterbacks because I was talking about the how Penn explained and whether that was one of the worst quarterback performances I've seen and I would say there's a couple spurs and win games I watched as a kid that were pretty up there and same with Todd Collins with the Bears in 2010, they beat the Panthers on the Thursday night game and he went like three of 13 with four picks, wallpops, something like that. So yeah. So there's some of the worst ones. I can remember. There's some Nathan Peterman ones of recent vintage that weren't that weren't terrific either. Josh earlier this year that were pretty pretty Baltimore may sign them. I know, so full circle because there's a lot of different Baltimore stuff that we have. This is the game. This is the game we're most excited about. Can this terrible bill's defense? Does it even matter because of the way Josh balanced playing? What's going to we're going to see that fun Lamar's stuff that we saw in the beginning of the year. They're loaded up and in the first pass attempt Lamar really knows one pass, thumb surgery. He could be out for the rest of the year. We don't even know. Currently gets knocked out and then you cons finest in there at the end of it. So I don't I don't know that there's a result with those circumstances that means anything. I don't. I don't know. Like we could do on the AFC bills, Jags and Broncos thing, neutral site. You want to do it? Yeah. I think I think I'm taking the Jags even with their old line. It's just the defense is so bad for the bills and I don't think enough people have caught on with that. I think they have because they're the ones to eat and Alan's the favorite to be MVP and they are. There's an argument made. It's the worst defense in the league. Yes. Going into this week, even before and I'm sure they didn't get that much better. There we go. The ball was getting moved on them, even with quarterbacks in there. Like no. And that's that's exactly what you're saying. It was like I was waiting for like, okay, Jim Leonard with a body. I wanted to learn something. Yes. There's secondary some mess like they think about bad. The secondary has to be when there's all these guys in the front, like this is the best russos ever played. Walker becoming like a household name. The front is good and there's still per play the worst defense in the league. And it's yeah. And it's not even like, okay, it's just because they've gone against this offense, this offense, no, it's like no, they are absolutely that bad. Like they are like really, their defense is kind of like to me. Like almost as bad as like the Cowboys defense on the pack end, which is like everyone's just going. I'm going to talk about them, but it's just like, oh, that's going to cripple the Cowboys. They can't do this. But it's like the Bill's defense can guard anybody. And on top of it, like their only good thing is they, they're boom bus against the run. But if they get pet any runs, get past the line of scrimmage, like they can't tackle either. And I thought again, like you said, like you just spelled it out, it was like, I was waiting for this test. Okay. Here we go. Ravens off. It's Declan Doyle's cooking. They're all lines going now. Lamar's coming back. And again, I haven't learned anything. I was like, Oh, there's some Jim Leonard, kind of like cool stuff. But then the rest of the game, it was just kind of the same. So yeah, I didn't really learn anything from them. But yeah, neutral site. I'd still, I'd probably take the jacks because kind of four units theory. Jack's offense is cooking. Bill's offense is cooking. I know what the Bill's offense is with them without DJ Moore. But I would take the Jack's defense, even with Hamilton getting hurt over the Bill's defense right now. Yeah. That's right. They're defensive lineman. Devon Hamilton. He's going to be out for the season, right? Yeah. Yeah. They were raising the game too. Yeah. He's the best run deep like like and he's a big part of it. I'm with the on Jags bills neutral site. What about Bill's Denver neutral site? I think I take bills. But don't feel amazing about it. I think I take bills again. Bill's offense. I know what they can do. Not throwing a brand of cooks in a playoff game this year, like they were last year. And then I think, man, because the Broncos defense is good, but not elite to make it like a needle moving thing. So I just kind of lean towards the bills. Are you thinking the same way? Are you going Broncos there? I'm definitely with you on Jags. And I know like sometimes I just love and ask kicking to remind you of what a really good team like every now and then I want one of those top five teams to be like, put 30 on somebody. You know, really kick their ass. Now the Colts, if you want to be that guy, you could say, well, they kind of wave the white flag on the entire season. So it's a special, but I just that after that one thing. Yeah. Right. Right. Yeah. I mean, go ahead. I mean, New England's in a dog fight with Miami staring out four and four. And honestly, the history of that game, like that actually makes sense when when they play there. Even when New England was awesome. It's a weird. Well, there's always Dallas. Arizona. Arizona Dallas. It's the undefeated. We know in the last couple of years. There. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think they're five and overall at AT&T. The, the, the Cardinals are since they got this. Jerry World got built. I didn't know it was five and oh, because I was looking at some of these like, here's their record against Dallas. And here's their record against everybody else. And it's like the worst in the NFL over this time. And it's like, except they'll always beat Dallas. But I didn't realize it was five and eventually, apparently, you know, just, you know, when, once he went to Arizona, he just gave them the good vibes, apparently, the last year where he was there. I felt like a diamond surrounded by garbage, and then he had to clarify it. Remember that one? I didn't until you just said that. Now I totally remember because his explanation of what it was was so funny because it was so not what he meant. Oh. I felt that the, I forget what it was, but it was kind of like, I felt like the cowboys were the diamond and the way we had played around it. It was like, no, you basically said everybody sucks and you're awesome. I'm still the diamond. Yeah. No, no, we got you. Honestly, it's probably done the short list of guys and get away with it. I mean, Jerry Rice could probably just say whatever he was. wanted. And I would have been like, okay, that's fine. Jerry writes King of the selfie, by the way, um, is he? Okay. He denied my brother and law of selfie at the, uh, the Tahoe tournament. My brother and law still talks about it. It's so funny. Sorry. I'm not talking about with people. I'm just saying his, his, his social media posts. Pull up his Instagram page as I get ready for the next topic here. Pull up his Instagram page. You get some close-ups of Jerry traveling. Sometimes he's in a car and sometimes he's not doing anything and you're just going to see his face in there. So shout out Jerry Rice, who I thought got a lot better when he was on the air. He wasn't, couldn't quite, it might have been the route tree. It might have been the play calls or something. ESPN because you'd be walking on the hallway being like, this be a bigger deal than I'm walking next to Jerry Rice is like, okay, lunch today. It's fucking Jerry Rice. Who got voted number one player over all my players, you know, like beat all quarterbacks ever as great as I like. But yeah, pretty, pretty big deal. I'm totally okay with that. Uh, here's an unfair question. This is like the most unfair thing ever because I have to spend a little time on what Burrow did yesterday. I'm sorry. I'm enforcing it into the show. I know it wasn't that run down. Camelor just had his second best game by QBR. And if you've watched it, which we did, Camelor had some, I mean, especially missing like two of their better offensive line. And I think that went down on this game too. And Carnell Tate. It's gone. There were some awesome in rhythm, totally calm, third down throws of like, dude, that kind of looks like he's, I mean, that's kind of the thing with Camelor is like, you look a little too comfortable right now, my man. Um, but I thought that throw against the Giants was more about Holland's coverage and decision, which recovered in the beginning of the year, because the replay of that interception looks like he's terrible and he's too relaxed. But there are throws. This isn't just because since I turned the ball over all day long, Tennessee moved the ball whenever they wanted. You want to make it about since it's defense, that's totally fine. But you're nodding your head right now. We did not talk about this. There were cam ord throws that looked like an NFL quarterback, especially with this shootout. Wheel this. This is the unfair part of it. Is him turning the corner actually the worst thing that could happen for the Titans? No, because just I think also where this draft is leaning to, it's like actually pretty sweet. Like if they actually believe in cam ward, because they can just get tear in my Smith, a Wendard Moore, a Dylan Stewart, you know, kind of gear it up there in the top five or trade back. If they, you know, there's a lot of teams with a couple draft picks that they could move up if they want to take one of their guys and take a QB and everything. But I think there's going to be a better player than Dylan Stewart and Stewart's going to go higher because he's six six. I think Gilliam's had a better year off too, because I, he's Mr. proponent for defense attackers are a premium position for years now. And then now this is like putting me in my own thing at my at a task right here. Stewart's pretty sick though. Like Stewart's really good, but Gilliam's really good too. That's that's really tough. Gilliam too is just like I feel like Gilliam moving him around a little more, you know, he has every sentence tough. I don't want to compare anybody to Jeffrey Simmons, but like there's energy made. I guess I've watched him enough both this year and she'll look, shout out to South Carolina and Dylan Stewart. That night in Alabama, it looked like everybody's going to lose their job and student a whole thing like sister, a minor time sports as bad as he can look and the Stewart looked like he was unhinged. So I'm not even covering for him. But just in that moment, we can only look at his like, oh, well, this thing's they're going to pack it up. And South Carolina, like since that moment has responded and turned things around, Stewart's back to being a top 10 pick, I just see Stewart ahead of Gilliam. And again, we're talking about South Carolina and Tennessee, if you're on the NFL fan here, I just feel like Gilliam is more consistent throughout a game where I'm just like, there he is again, like holy shit, he just crushed that whole thing. But he has to me like locked in. Yeah, but even then that's fine because of how creative defensive how they move guys now, where he could be de-end on some snaps and kick inside. And so like that, that kind of lack of frame isn't that scary. I've always been big on, and this is always why I'm big on trench play over receivers. Yada Yada plays impacted. So yeah, like a great edge is a great edge, but they're kind of easier to mitigate for more snaps if that makes sense. Like William Anderson, don't get me wrong, the top guys are the top guys. But like a Jeffrey Simmons or a top end defense tackle or Gilliam of that is that early downs, they can make an impact, late downs, they can make an impact, positional versatility. So if you're using these guys in different ways, like some edges, it's like go forward. Okay, cool. All right, line up on the edge. I can't kick you inside because you don't have this this and that, where I think Gilliam and all that, like these guys when they're in the same tier, it's like there is a place impacted like element to that that I kind of like way. So I know what we do. You mentioned South Carolina, talk about all that. They even bring up sellers. I mean, I know everybody loves them again. Everybody loves them again. Everyone loves them. But it's been a month straight. Ever since they got blown, their doors got blown off by Alabama. And I watched that game randomly on the little skycast spider cam. And watching sellers in that game, and I'm like, he's actually doing a lot of the right stuff. Oh, they threw a pick six and that's 35 seven or whatever it was. So I was like, okay, no, you know, keep a note on that. Right. They can talk. He did some stuff, Tennessee's done stuff. Like at Florida, he Florida was a tough out again, which is they are what you thought at the beginning of the season. Yeah, little love little love there. But that brings back to the cam lord thing. Like you know what I'm doing. You know, I am saying this is unfair. Is it like it would be it's easier to make the next decision because it looked like through a month or so in the season, you're going to go, okay, like it has started something has to click for you to come back with him in year three. Like, don't do what other teams do. You know, I think we're over drafting at number one and bad quarterback class is based on need. I think that's a mistake that I'm like, I just I know what I'm supposed to do. I know it's supposed to keep drafting the entire time. I just wonder, look, if he keeps playing like he did in this game, it's not going to happen every single week. I don't I think that would be sort of a shocking development. But it would be at least an interesting talking point if they end up with the top pick. And there's a quarterback that they really, really like. And it would be easier to just turn the page if he didn't play well, which I know is not what types fans would want out of the guy. They just took number one, two drafts ago. And there reminds me a little bit of, I think, war is shown a little bit more than this guy. Even weirdly prospect wise, I like the other guy, the bears with fields is when they made that they the number one pick. They moved off of it when Carolina moved up to take Bryce young. And they and I know we're going to agree for the pairs because then they got the number one pick anyways next year because they had the panthers back into Caleb Williams. But they like didn't move off fields enough. But I think war does show more than fields, even though I like fields better as a prospect, weirdly. I know I'm just talking about everything here. But I do think the positives of works I'm going to write about him soon. So I've been kind of colon clips weekend week out. And that was the thing where it's like you see the flashes every game three, four good plays. But then there was just the ones who just miss a gimmick. And it's like, yeah, whether it's fair or not, but when you're a dude, you can make me miss one, give me a game, but you can't miss three. You can't miss four. Even the end of last week's game, he misses a throw late to a tight end. He has a couple other brilliant plays, but everything that you're saying right here, if he plays like this, if he plays like how he played against the Seahawks last year, where there's a stuff in structure that's sustainable, which is more important than anything. But then you get the creation moments because he wants to win from the pocket. He's not a runner. Yeah, you're ready to go to tap. Yeah, but the fact that he's doing the twirl for a two point, he's doing the, like I've always compared him to the skater named Rodney Mullen. I'm very the dark slide, where it's just in a lot of other tricks. But where it's like, he actually is really, I know, sorry, this is just how my brain works. I'm proud to do that. I get it. Okay, nice. Lucky, lucky, listen. No, but I compared Caleb Williams to a Gorancha, the soccer player, but I digress. But with young, I'm young, with Ward is this with, there's a lot of stuff where he looks like a trick shot, but it's actually within the flow of the offense. That's good. But people go, oh, you know, he's doing that kind of crazy throwing macho, but it's like, no, because he's operating on time and he's trying to expand that window or create that window. This was the game where it felt like, again, just readering what you're saying. It all came together. Like where it was like the trick shots were there, the creation was there, but there's a lot of good stuff in structure. Helps to go against the bangles, linebackers and safeties, the stats in the middle of the field were hilarious, but that's awesome. That he's willing to throw over the middle. I just talked about two quarterbacks earlier, Nixon Hurts. That still won't do it with great circumstances. And so that's encouraging that he's doing some of the difficult stuff and the floor is kind of raising a little bit. I also have to get Brian Dable some credit because I usually bash him openly is that they used a lot of no huddle. 40% of their stats were no huddle yesterday, which I thought it was the most by anyone this season. And I thought that was really interesting. That was like, just keep him in rhythm, I guess. Keep cam war, just cook in, like, keep him, like, don't, like, I don't want to say, like, don't let him think because that just comes out wrong, but just keep him in the flow of the offense. And I thought the no huddle stuff was like a good way to see that. So to answer your question, I think this is a good problem if he keeps this up because I think this was a culmination of a lot of flashes he's shown this game or this season. There's been a lot of bad. And now the bad wasn't, there wasn't any like outright bad where it's just missus happening. Okay, I want to quit my burger on burrows. So I'm going to save that for later as they pull that one out over time. This episode is brought to you by Raisin Keynes started back in the day by our friend Todd Grace. I saw that. Insane. Hey, do your local raising Cain's or order on the app? Raising Cain's chicken fingers. One love. What are the game do you want to do before we do Quick Hitters? Oh, man, well, you want to talk about Bucks Falcons at all? Or, well, I have a Quick Hitters, 'cause let's just do it right now. Is that a good win if you're the Bucks? I think, yeah, 'cause, you know, smoke 'em if you got 'em. Like, hey, the Falcons get around the ball. Is that a good win? Well, we can, and we can stop your run game and just take the quarterback out of the game. Entirely, we just gave him $50 million a year, and it doesn't even matter. It doesn't even matter. - We just gave him $50 million a year. - And for those that may not have understood when they shut out another team here, they did not complete a pass and won a football game for the first time in the NFL since 1974. - Yeah. - Whether it was a factor. And if you look at the history of that game in 1974, it was the Bill's Joe Ferguson, who went '03 on the day. Joe Nameth put it in the air 18 times. He went two of 18. So whether it was an issue that day as well. And Nameth had an awesome quote after the game. He was like, boy, get that ball out. He was the prettiest thing you ever seen. Slider right into the other guy's hands. So Nameth was out of fact. - So from '74, Nameth or '72? - '74 Nameth, so he couldn't even move at that point either. So that was probably pretty rough. I mean, Pettics couldn't either. So we got to see that. We got to see a new version of that in the rain right there. Nameth was my dad's favorite player. So that was, that's, you know, you locked in. You were like, which year do we have? You're 72. - Oh, I know. I was about 30. - You were talking about 75. - Watch Nameth spin that football. You understand why he put up 4,000 yards before anybody else did. The Nameth biography, I think it's over 20 years old. It's kind of like the definitive one. I gave that to one of my father. You know, I send my father books all the time. Send you dad a book, if you're out there. - I send my dad a book every year. Probably the only one he reads every year. - I send the book. - I want to know what the Nate to Mike Tyson's book club is. - A lot like Mickey Mantles bio, the last boy, last boy scout, last boy, whatever. I think that's what it's called. I think I broke his heart when I sent that because he learned a lot about Mickey Mantle because that was his favorite player ever. Yeah, he learned a lot. I think I ruined his childhood. I send him a pistol peep book that he loves pistol peep. He's more of a basketball guy. So it's a lot of like, I send him a crime book by Bill James actually, the saver guy, that he was, it was okay with. But yeah, it's usually a lot. - Yeah, I could see your dad. - You should've asked me. - You should've asked me, I would've told you. He's not gonna like that. - Yeah, it doesn't matter. - Yeah, no. He just wants to read some sports bios. But yeah, that's usually a good deal. See Biscuit when that came out, horse racing, anything horse racing involved. Got to find him like a secretariat book. - I feel bad of the pronunciation here. But it's Mark Kriegel who did the pistol book on Maravit and he also did the name of one. My father, my father loved both of us. - Okay, no, that's a big reader though. - The rush, the gold rush book by Nathaniel Philbrook also out for the dads out there. Sent that one to my dad last week. - A whole bunch of sports by, I got the trolley hustle book by Keith O'Brien. I want to read, I got the Ricky Henderson book. I got a couple baseball bios I've been wanting to get into. I have a little book club right now. - Well, we'll keep us, let us know what you send. Big Mike last time, 'cause I think maybe I have to help out. - All right, so staying on the jacks, or excuse me, staying on the bucks here, 'cause I stay at least in the division with this whole thing. You know what I loved about this? 'Cause I was looking, I was like, there's 24 combined passing yards in this game. I was like, okay, keep it going. Like, I love, can we get it under a hundred here? And then I was worried that they were gonna have Baker. I would have thought to avoid this, that they would have been like, hey, we're just gonna do the, we're gonna slant up in pistol and you're just gonna throw it forward to him. So that you don't finish the day with zero complete passes. And what this tells me about like Baker and everybody there where it felt like weeks ago, again, they were losing these close games. So we knew that, hey, the record is not indicative of what this team is. But then Baker goes out and you're like, all right, this is kind of looking a little ugly here, but we'll see what happens. And then they get that Dallas win, which just feels like a free win here near. And now they've won back-to-back games, where the Carolina excitement seems to be gone from whatever last year was, or a beautiful Sunday when Bryce Young looked like all in the world was right, which seems to be one of the most misleading games of any quarterback this entire season. The point that I'm making is that like, I kind of think that Baker was totally good having zero completion. So if there's a vibes check on this team on top of statistically the best defense in the NFL as of today, Aero's pointing up with the box, even though I don't even know if they're good. - I can't, but I actually do think they're kind of good now, which is so, 'cause they're defense-freaking rocks and they have a run game. But I can't believe you said the vibes check because after I reviewed this game last night, and I even said, great vibes with the bucks right now too. Watch Kenny Gainwell's bigger on the third quarter where he gets inside the five yard line. The whole offensive line's downfield celebrating with him. Just, ah, you know, like, well, they're hitting the helmet and there's Baker Mayfield trying to pancake Jesse Bates. Like, sometimes the quarterback's blocking is performative and that's just the commentators. Nobody loves a quarterback getting in front, like, 9 blocking, just getting in front of somebody, they love the taters. That everyone loves it. Baker actually will, like, have good form. Like, he actually, like, gets his hands inside and actually tries to finish, but he bucks Jesse Bates on that one. And then the other one then with the Bucky Irving Fumble, he fumbles the snap, Baker does, turns it into an option play, like, with good ball security, actually, pitches the option plays, feeling himself. He starts, like, kind of high step in after he throws it, like, yeah, that was, but ends with a Fumble, because Jesse Bates, of course, makes the play on that. But it was one of those where, yeah, they're vibing a little bit right now with that team. And so I think he's actually okay with throwing the ball what, 14 times through the last two weeks since he's come back from thumb surgery. That's our thumb injury. So what was the O for four double-checking it again right now? I think it was O for three. And he was seven for 11 the week before. So yeah, 14 times, yeah, nailed it. 14 times my, there's a Carolina conversation in there which we already touched on. It's like, okay, it's, yeah. I know that, that's the thing is like, they are the biggest conundrum too as a franchise. Just like, do you, what do you buy into with Bryce Young? Like, they, I wouldn't, I wouldn't either. I wouldn't either. I know what he is. Like, he needs so much help with the stuff and they're trying to, they're trying to help them, trying to give him training wheels. And it's just like those aren't even helping either with RPOs and everything. And I understand it worked for night. It worked for night against Detroit. It was, it was awesome to watch. You know, Collins was raving about him, but you could tell the way he was raving about him and he thought he stunk. But he was doing a very nice broadcaster. Like, you know, I went through all, I don't know what I'm doing right now. But he's like, I went through all. I don't like it, but I lean back. I was getting ready for that impression. I certainly lean back right, right, right, right. So he's like, I didn't really know what to expect with, with all this, you know, and I, you know, there's some stuff in there. Yeah, you know, and then he's got to work it for them. As it grows another little RPO there. Gonna call him. Watch him beat the Broncos after we just raved about him. Hey, no. I don't think their defense could stop anyone anyways. Actually, well, going against the Broncos often. Jonah Coleman might run wild on that one. Who knows? Yeah, we won't have to be a, it won't have to be a pro next game because none of them have, you know what else announcers love to? They love in basketball when you turn down an early shot up late in the game for an awful shot. They're like, oh, yeah, oh, smart. He pulled it back out. Really, yeah, yeah, cool. Great. Now the shot's going to suck instead of the, the, the dumb feel goal attempt that was wide open with 11 seconds left in the shot clock. Let's get it back down to four, take a shitty one, but that's the one with the defensive set, all that. The other commentators love is a punt with backspin. Oh, I wish my wedge could do that. You know, I wish my 56 degree was doing it. They love, it's the same joke every single time. And I'm all for it. I love a good punt. That's the other one commentators love. I love that part of it, but the, yeah, yeah. Every time it's the same time. Oh, I wish my 56 degree could do that, you know, every single time. I used to get so pissed at Van Pelt when he would ask the guest because we only had like eight minutes on the phone back in the old school radio days of having guests. So I always looked at it as like, we probably have six questions. With me, you'd be lucky to get to four with that limited amount of time. And he would ask so many guys about their golf game. And I would get so fucking mad. And then he knew I hated it. so then he started doing it more, which is what he's doing. supposed to do in that spot, but like you get the wrong guy who really wants to tell you about like, oh, my iron, Scott, I've been pretty good, but man, I'm a bitch off the tee and all this stuff. And I just be looking at him going, great. He's asking about grips. He's like, yeah, we got to go to the thicker grips. Did you put tape on? How many rolls of tape did you go on there? I'm a two wrap, three wrap guys sometimes. All right. Let's do quick hitters. Do you have one that you live? I like all of them always because I want to save time for Monday night football preview. Well, I know we're hitters now. But I was going to say, what do we think of the Jags uniforms? That was my quick hitter because I know it. I like the Jags, but what do we think of their uniforms, AKA the color of line uniforms, AKA the close to Carolina uniforms. I thought I thought their uniforms coming from any given Sunday. Like I actually was going through. I'm like, I swear, I saw Jamie Foxx play against this uniform, but I was wrong in that. But I also just was a excuse to talk about the Jaguars being like really fun and really good. And their defense coordinator, Anthony Campanelli is up there as a head coach candidate. A lot of defense guys this cycle. That's what happens when a lot of offense play colors are out there as head coaches, but like I just think the Jags man, like you said, it's like emphasis on the win. Like make the sad team look sad and the Colter very sad right now. But like don't leave him hanging. Don't even with you have a bad turnover just bounce back. Defense at moments, offense at moments and the Jags do that as much as anyone. I feel like Trevor Lawrence sits in the fourth quarter like he's still at Clemson. It's unbelievable how much he gets to sit in the fourth quarter. My Quinn years gets more reps than any other backup. Well, I was here the Ravens backup. His his throw the controversial tight end for a coach or a coach or my why tight ends on here. Yeah, but that that throw is like the epitome of Trevor Lawrence cooking. Yeah, where it looks like it's Randy Johnson like winding up and it's you know, I love like the great quarterbacks where you can tell on the wind up when you can't see the intended receiver here like this is you're going to go this is going to be awesome. Yeah. Like there's certain great quarterbacks. You could just tell the way they drop and the way they'd set up to throw like this isn't a 50 50 ball. This isn't I'm going to give myself a good you know, my God chance to win. This is like we've got this shit like he's going in his head going. We've got six points. The Packers coaches used to say they could tell we move before looking up closing your eyes. If you looked at bread far. One crow hop. Oh, here comes some serious shit. Two crow hops. Oh, no, three crow hops. Oh boy, we're back on here comes some serious shit. It's like it's like it's like one in rhythm. Awesome. When he's like he's his feet are telling him, please do not do this. No, no, no, no, no, but then if you get that extra little hitch in there. Okay, he's throwing it to the fourth window when he shouldn't even try that. But yeah, there's the same. You can count the crow hops and you can tell you what the throw is going to be. I love that. I love that man. All right. Here's what I was thinking about. Did Jamison Williams mess with the white kid when he gave away the football after his go ahead touchdown? I didn't see that. No, I want to see. I wonder why would he script or didn't because here's I'm going to tell you right now, I've watched enough Jamison Williams games. I don't remember seeing this stuff at Alabama every time something great happens with him and he is insanely talented when they showed him on that go route where they didn't throw it to him and it was like, I think he was in the scene. He wasn't even on the outside. Just watching him run sometimes you go like, dude, how does anyone cover this guy? How does anyone? How do you even bracket that? Because he's going to dust the first guy and he's going to have so much speed. How do you even prevent whatever he is he decides to do to you? And then as soon as the great play happens, I expect the worst. I always expect something stupid for him. So even though it's this golf touchdown, it's on first down, and then I see him with the ball. I'm like, Oh, no, what is he going to do? Where's Minnesota going to be starting? And yet what he was doing was something of me. I'm sorry. That's the way my brain works. I get single. He got a topic penalty in the first quarter. Oh, I know. No, he got one right away. Exactly. He went like full west side guns, you know, just and I'm like, what is he doing right? But I expected all the time. So he's going to give a kid. He's going to make a kid's day. I couldn't help but notice there was like a white kid and he like handed him the ball. And then there was a not white kid. And he's like, boom, here you go. And you know what? Good for him. I don't have any criticism of it. I just was watching it. And I'm going, what was that? I wasn't offended as a white kid at one point in my life. You're going to lose some. You're going to win some. All right. So it was it was not a fence. I just was like, did he do that to fuck with a kid? Or did he go? There's a late arm of it. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I think he called notable. He's like, yeah, that's all that. That's hilarious. No, he don't have to answer that. It just. No, he's been. He's such a funny player because I like also you say, what drives you crazy to me? No, I'm sure he, no, I think he drives their coaches crazy too. I expect something stupid every game from him. Yeah. One, yeah. Yeah. No, no, I think that's extremely fair. I mean, even just like the first you were like laughing, but you're just saying all that. It's like he literally had. He literally got a taunting penalty in the first quarter because after a big play and it just sent him all back. It's like right away, right up back. Oh, no, he is such a funny player because he's so, he's so gifted. And then like some of his highlights from college was him as a punk gunner. And I was just like, what are you? Like, I don't understand what you are. Like the only way to defend him is like get physical with him. But then if you miss, you're torched. So like that again, the conundrum of him. But now, by the way, I'm going to mention this later, but I'm going to say it, but I want on Jaden boss profile for the draft that two-point conversion throw that he had where he's the quarterback. And I don't know if you saw the clip. I don't blame you if you turned off Georgia, Florida at some point and go to your kids, especially with Halloween. So, um, I'm doing that work. Was he lefty? No, it's unbelievable. The traffic that he's dealing with around his legs. Okay. So I, I have a theory that like more pass catchers, it's like usually have the best arms too. Like there's something to being able to throw and also just like catching everything. So I'm always like, if a runner-backer receiver throws like the little side arm, I'm skipping rocks in correct throwing motion. I think I'm a little bit. It's like, well, again, what were you doing at recess? You should be able to catch and throw. Like, I want to see that a little bit. I also about what are you trying to compress his irons, though. He's trying to get down there. And that's why he's got that that skipping motion. This should be it, too. It's just compressed. Let's keep it tight. He was doing that. He was doing the figure eight. You know, he's just straight back and coming inside. Yeah. That's my issue with the long arms. It all comes unraveled. That's what I'm going to blame it on. I have one more. If you don't want one, I have one more with the Steelers. I love defense. Yay. Like Steelers are watchable. That and Steelers actually might be good as maybe they have probably the best record of the least talked about team on this entire pod with you and I on Mondays. And I have I went ahead and looked at their schedule. Okay. They're off. But that's Cincinnati game. No matter what happens, we're going to give them the full colonoscopy. All right. Deep deep in there. No, I I'm with you. I'm with you. We do because no, they're they're legit good now, as opposed to just like, yeah, they're typical Steelers. And they found the formula. That's good. They are. I know defensive around the ball. You do a lot for my brain where, hey, it's all school. We don't need the quarterback to throw 40 something times. We can just do this even though he's going to try to anyways. No, they're legit good. They're legit good. And the formula might work for them. legit good. I did not expect that today. I know. I can't for me either. Because basically that game between Cleveland and Pittsburgh was like a showdown of like nobody thinks either of you are any good. And who is who is the least fake amongst us? Yeah, who actually has a pulse and the Steelers have a pulse. I maintain that. Yeah. No, I know. I trust me. This is this is not what I expected because even though like the box game was frustrating, but it's like, I don't know. They have the books. I think are a little better than now, even though they know throw the ball. They're also playing GM and Daniels that game. But I don't know. The Steelers are doing some stuff. That's like making me feel things. So maybe colonoscopy will be good for it. See those fans after the by week no matter what happens in that sense of game because I'm going to ask you right now in Cincinnati looking at the burrow picks. First one chase stops running in the row because it's broken play to the left side. I'm going to make excuses for two of them. The second one he's hit. The third one. I don't really know what he's doing on that one other than throwing in a double coverage and believe coasters picks this. Yeah, I know what he's I know what he's doing. He's thinking tomorrow. Chase is going to win. So let's throw that out because I'm going to throw this to you right now. Is there anything more fun than burrow when he needs it in the NFL? Is there anything more fun than watching him with Higgins and Chase in the way they needed it desperately to keep pace with the Titans of all teams. They needed every single move in the chains moment. That is I know NFL fans like you're probably not going to do this. If you just want to watch insanity at the quarterback position with great receivers watch what Cincinnati did on those last three touchdowns that they had in ruling out possession that doesn't count because it was so much fun. second Higgins touchdown because he's so incredible. The second one was like, I did this last week with the Darnal throw to JSN over Mansor Delane. Like, but that second touchdown to Higgins was like, bro, it doesn't have like the amazing arm strain. But like this, it was just an epitome of like, that's an NFL quarterback making an NFL throw. That's an NFL window, everything, because he just, one, two, three, ball is out. And Hooker is back there as a deep safety and just glances to, again, talk about game of inches, timing, all that, just glances to the other side and then is rallying back to like, oh, okay, I should check out Higgins now and the ball's already completed before he even can realize what's going on. And that touchdown was just like one of these for it's like, it's impossible to guard. Like a perfect throw is impossible to guard. And it's really cool when burrow is pissed off burrow and also like in the flow of the offense, which their offense is cooking, they just are completely done with the understander. Stop by the way, which is hilarious because it's like, could I told you that? She could have saved us about six months of dialogue that we could have. But that last touchdown to Higgins was just like, that's an NFL play. And I know it's the Titans defense. Yada yada, you could say what you want, but like that is the coolest, those are the coolest places. Usually the red zone is where you see what big boy quarterbacks do. And that was such a big boy throw to a big boy target in Higgins. - They're gonna end up with an awesome record, okay? - They are five and two, yep. Next five, Atlanta, Pittsburgh commanders, Saints, Browns, 10 and two or nine and three, 10 and two. I mean, I think their defense, even though you could pick on them, it's still they got some juice up front. I don't know. - That's the Lawrence showed up and they needed it. - Yeah. - Well, it's shown up the entire time. You can't ask the defensive tackle to fix all the other stuff, but for him to get a sack as an interior guy. The NFL the way it works. There's no way it's 10 and two. It might be nine and three or nine and three. Who knows, maybe they lose the Steelers at home. They lost to them at them on a field goal. But after the Browns, they've got the cheese at home, then it's Panthers, Colts, Ravens, whoever, whatever they look like, and then Browns again. So it's all winnable. It's, yeah. I mean, right now, as it sits, the next-gen stats has them as an 86% chance to make the playoffs. And underlying stat wise, they're excellent. And while the run game is always gonna be what people bring up, it's like the run game is still pretty efficient. It's like they still, the run game does enough for what they need the offense to be. And when he is, when Burrows playing like that, like the second half last week, this game, even with the turnovers, it's like, I mean, they can go toe to toe for everybody. Like that's, again, talk about the top AFC teams right now. Like I think I feel really good about the Jags, Jags on the line. Well, the Bengals, D-Wine has an advantage there. I know they already played. That was a back and forth game. Bills, Bills, defense. They're not gonna be able to keep up the Bengals offense. And like the Bengals defense has enough kind of to keep up. You know, just even just look at those teams. Like they match up with the chiefs well as well. Like again, that's gonna be, you're gonna have to, it's the, I brought up Gravity of Jefferson. Gravity of Dexter Lawrence. Watch how Tony Pollard's first touchdown was. It was a jet sweep. We're not gonna run up the middle, you know, against this. So again, you're already limiting what offenses can do against you, even if it's not a perfect defense right now. But they can at least do some things. But unless they play Kim Ward apparently. And I guess tempo might give them issues too. So maybe the teams pick on that. So maybe we'll see, but I don't know if there's a lot of teams that can test that until playoff time. All right, Monday night football preview here. We don't always do this, but we have to do it for Chicago and Seattle. Especially with Chicago, adding Jeffrey Simmons. It was also nice to see somebody that tightens defenders wearing red sleeves. And that's Cincinnati game to honor their guy. That told me a lot. I'm like, that's, that's awesome. That those guys are like, well, we're all gonna read sleep. I can't believe more guys don't. Is it fun to watch Jeffrey Simmons? Could you like, oh, there he is. There he is. It was actually like a smart thing for him to do. He also probably would have shown up on film pretty quickly too, without the red sleeves. He's the guy in the backfield. Yeah, he's there. He's that guy that everybody's trying to avoid and they can't give me kind of the number one thing like that you feel is going to be a tell about how the two teams are going to attack this game. Oh, man, well, so Ben Johnson versus Mike McDonald's. One of the best like scheme matchups. And they've gone together. They got against each other twice as play callers. And for me, what I'm looking at is just like how you go against the Seahawks defense is what they lean into. It actually plays the kale of strengths because playing against his defense is they want you to throw underneath like we talked about, you know, hey, they're underneath. They tee off on you. So you got to push the ball. And how do you push the ball against the defense that has such a good front? So the teams all try to figure out ways to do it. And the ways that I've always found was what the Rams did last year against Seahawks defense was first and second down, get into that understanding of stuff, get that play action stuff. And we're throwing digs for attacking Ernest Jones. So to me, like maybe the health Colcomat being out interesting, like because this is where I'm looking for the bears to using a lot of eye formation runs, kind of like what I just talked about with the lines. They got to it in different ways, but eye formation runs, maybe jumbo personnel this week. But I think that's the way to get play action attack against the Seahawks defense and what they want to run. So I guess if you want one little scheme thing, look for the bears eye formation runs and kind of call my shot here, maybe a little gadget throwback to Caleb Williams. A little bit of a little double pass. I think Ben Johnson's a showman. And so, you know, Monday night football, I've all Seahawks defense. So I think look for a little bit of a throwback to Caleb Williams, where it's like a toss throwback for a touchdown or throwback for a big play. But yeah, I, this is just good on good, man, but especially on this side of the ball. Do you know who the most pressured quarterback is based on pressure rate? Isn't the NFL? If it's not love, it would be, I didn't know this actually because I was just, I just had looked this up. It's not, is it shock? It's shock up there. Sam Darnell, Darnell, is it 30% that is a, that's absurd. A staggering number. That's like just Herbert last year. Herbert's pressure rate somehow is actually better this year because it was always so bad. Last year, um, it's the hits he's taking now. That's, and then now he's just, apparently, Justin Herbert's blind. Apparently now, because it's like, I know he's a, like, he's a, I don't know that he's blind this name. He's a, it's, it's, it's, I'm getting his eyes tested, tested because it's, he's a battleground player. And I understand that, but he's never played like this. And now I'm just kind of wondering what, I mean, they're all team. Sorry, I've been, I kinked up hoes with the chargers because I don't talk about my own show. They're banned from football 31. We kind of banned them from this show, though, too. They have to be there because it's just embarrassing. It's not even like, oh, they've had some bad luck. All it's like, yeah, they've had some injuries. But it's like, they're good players are getting blown up. Like, their offensive tackles are getting nuked by DBs. It's like, what, I don't know. Like it's, yeah, just all rough there, but sorry. Sorry, I digress there. So it's fine because it's the same experience that I have watching it. Being like, I can't, I can't like, I don't understand. It's like a putter that has that are, you know, golfer that can't put it, right? It's got the yips of something like the way he's so freaked out. And you saw this kind of at the end of last year where it was like, Hey, he's getting pressure on one out of every three dropbacks. Basically, he's freaking out a little bit here. It's not happening. You know, I know that some people are going with the Madison beer theory on this one. And I would just go like, I don't think he's the first quarterback that has a hot girl friend. So, you know, sometimes we kind of see circumstances, the timeline changes. And then we play the results and relate to two of them. And I'm like, no, Sandro had some really interesting stuff on like other coaches talking about Harbaugh on how he's not a scheme guy. They were like, he's like, the nutty professory comes in, takes a dip, draws up a trick plays like go get him boys. And so that's kind of like he can't really tell McDaniel. We should do some other stuff. Definitely he used to steal dips from all the guys at the SPN when he came by, which made everybody kind of go like, that's Harbaugh, I think she'd be a lot to do it. All right, charges ban. We covered some charge of stuff in there. So back to the reason I bring that up, a reason I bring up that darn old pressure rate. The reason I was doing it too is I thought you're going to pick Caleb. I was doing it for Monday night football. Caleb hasn't been hit a lot. He's also missed time. So there's a difference there. But he's definitely taken less hits even the time that he's still getting pressure to a decent amount, usually when you're bringing in a defensive tackle. Again, Simmons, they've gotten creative with the way they move them around it. You know, it's maybe it's not full blown Chris Jones, but it's also not Ted Washington. Okay. The right Simmons, which can be lost. Sometimes the way we talk about the nose tackles, the tackles, but I know on Thursday, you had broken it down quite a bit of like, what can one person like this do for a group defensively with the Bears, where it's been a coin toss, which tells you it's probably not a group that's going to be carrying the Bears to the playoffs if they're able to put something together this year. Yeah, Dennis Allen and credit to him, defense coordinator for the Bears is that the Bears were been exceptional on third down this year. They're first and third down conversion rate. Their whole entire game plan so far up until we until again, Jeffrey Simmons has been get to third down and we will win third down. And if you lose on early downs, especially as season goes along, especially data points, especially playoffs, that's a tough way to live. that's what Jeffrey Simmons does. Now he can he play all four downs, but he can help them win early downs. And I think even success rate wise and EPA all those good numbers, you know, that throughout here all the time is that they were pretty strong. Like they were 12th in EPA per play overall, but then if you just looked at early downs, first and second down, it drops to middle the pack. They're actually 30 second in EPA per play on early downs. So they go from 12th overall. So that means third and fourth down, they're doing a lot to dead last, first and second down there. I've let they're allowing 9.3 net yards per attempt on early downs. And then it's like success rate wise, they're middle of the pack, run game and pass game. This is what Simmons does. He's not just a gap shooter where it's like, okay, he's going to create big plays and sometimes not yield a lot. He is what I call a mall or like where he is taking on blocks. He can eat double teams. He has three sacks this year against double teams. I don't think anybody else has more than one. And so he has three sacks against just double teams. He has 10 pressures against double teams. But then run game wise, he is just a he's in the run game. He defeats the run game by himself. He commands the double teams and he blows them up. And it's not just again, there's just different flavors of defense attack. Like you even just mentioned, just like it's not Ted Washington, it's not this. He's like Kevin Williams, who my dad coach back in the Minnesota, like that's where it's getting deep. Yep. Yeah, those to him Pat. And it's that, okay, this play, I need to eat a double team so my teammate, the linebacker can make a tackle. This play, I got a gap shoot and I got a one on one. This play, they're passing. This play, it's a screen. I'm going to retrace on the screen. This discussion, I would just have a Dylan Stewart and the Tennessee D tackle is just that every play he's affecting. And even the plays that doesn't show up in the box score, but on top of it, he produces. There's a lot of detacles that might not have back for the Ravens is like this. He finished the Earth like 20 tackles. And everyone's like, nope, this guy's the best defense attack on football because he's just doing so much for his teammates and commandings, Vita van. He was a not take, he was a guy that was like takes plays off before the draft. And it was so funny. And then you're like, do you see what he's doing over the course of the game? Like take fucking 10 plays off, buddy. Just crank it up for those 30. Oh my God. He was one of those guys. He was one of those players. Not always that like he, like because I was when I was at high school and like getting into like following the league and stuff. And that he would change how I view guys. Because you know, it's so easy to just point at box score stats. The guy has 12 sacks. It's obviously the best. And it's like, no, this guy that has one sack. It's actually the best defense attack on football because everything he does. But just bring this all up because like with Simmons, not only all those past game stuff, which again is which gets you paid, which gets you the accolades, all that. He has 143 run tackles over the last three years. That's the most of any defense attack in the NFL. And it's not empty calories where he's jumping on the pile and getting a tackle. They have the stack called stops, which is a successful play for the defense or an unsuccessful play for the offense. He leads in that 105 for stops. He generated a whole bunch of EPA negative EPA for the offense on stops, only behind Grover Stewart, who is a run stuffer for the cold set. I think a lot of teams should be trading or talking about. And then he has stops, which are TFL. So he has 40, which is easily the most of all defense attack. Well, second place is Stewart 36, third is Quinn Williams with 31 over the last three years. So why I'm bringing that all up is that he impacts every down. It makes everyone else better. He also gets his. And on top of it, they get the third down. And now they don't have to we they can lean into how much funk they want, like create isolated stuff with Jeffrey Simmons or bring color going on the blitz. It just gives them a lot of options. And we talked last week. I was feeling good about the bears and what they could do. I was realistic about what their defense actually is. But now this just gives them an ace with a defense coordinator that's doing a lot of good stuff. So it's just how do you stop explosive passes without helping your deep your corners tackle the quarterback before he can throw those deep passes. That's a that's a good math kind of solver. And I think they kind of found the guy to do it for himself. Yeah, I'm pretty stoked about this edition for the bears and where they sit as the true contender to me. I wish this game were in Chicago. Just because it's so hard to pick against Seattle in Seattle. Right. Yeah. And the Seattle defense is just exceptional. We talked so much about the Vikings defense CL defense like right there. It is. And I still think I think that when he gets Kansas City to see them like the throw that every quarterback knows that he has and somebody as smart as my homes because like look, I know they lost the game and they blew the whole thing. There were some shit that my homes was doing when he moves Emmett to the other side because he picks up the blitz and Emmett he has to physically grab his running back. Slide him over to the other side and he's doing this with two seconds left on the play clock. Like that's the kind of stuff where like how come this guy was so good and this guy wasn't as good. It's like well because there's all that other stuff that we just don't do a great job of keeping track of like what is demanded of this position or like how come this tier two guy never became a tier one because he never even saw that and my homes was all over it where he physically it's laughable how funny it is. He's grabbing his running back by the hips to slide him over for protection, which he's already figured out, which isn't rare. Like plenty of guys figure out the protection and you're in Denver and it's to try to come back and win the game and the play clock. You can see it on the Al-22. It's like at two seconds as he's doing all this shit. The throw that he knows is there against every defense is especially when it's the two deep safety. He's like okay, I've got my check downs here the entire time, right? So like I can I can just check it down. We'll see maybe we maybe you get three yards out of it, five yards out of it. Maybe somebody misses a tackle, you know, we move in the chains and keep it moving. The way Seattle funnels those throws, wanting you to go there and those support against those throws as soon as the catch is made, you can't believe you end up with like enough healthy running backs and receivers because they're getting blasted. And I don't really the visual part of Chicago. I don't feel like that's the Ben Johnson thing necessarily. You know, he's he's not going to have that like it was just a very mahalms thing where those throws have always worked and against Seattle for a night. I'm like, oh, this is hilarious. Like you can't even make these throws against Seattle's defense because everything over the top is shut down. Kansas City's not necessarily threatening it anyway. The free yardage, you know, the let's just go here. None of it's free. None of it's free against these guys. So I don't know, you know, again, I'm not imagining the way I don't think Ben Johnson runs things with his array of of weapons, the commit thing mums me out, obviously, but I want to pick Chicago. I want to do I don't want to just do default Seattle at home, but it's Seattle at home. That's and offense is good enough where it's not a trustee like it's not. It's not the Vikings offense. You know, it's like they and now they have healthy running backs. I think Charbonne for sure is back in price might be back as well. They traded for Quint Nelson, who is a true needle mover. And I know Charles Cross is banged up, but still interior pressures we can get darn old. So let's make the interior really stout. So I'm also going Seattle and really just I you know, I like to use I test, but just a stat to kind of illustrate what you're talking about with how the Seahawks saw everything off. So next in stats has depth of first opportunity of tackle. I brought this up before the league averages 4.5 like the Lions who led up so many big plays. They're at 5.9 because yeah, they're really good tacklers, but then they're also letting up gashes. The Seahawks are first at 3.3 yards when they are going to make their first tackle. It's at 3.3. Second place is a packers at 3.8 Vikings are 3.9. It's all actually the defense they're playing well. So it's just like they're not even close to even second place and there were more more than a yard, more than league average. And those just add up time and time again. That's why I even brought the kale of stuff was that he scrambles and can extend stuff, which can convolut the Seahawks defense because they're showing tune with what they want to get to. And then you got to be more over the top if they want to play top down, but it's easier said than done because you have to protect all that. Now what's interesting is I actually thought the chiefs, I brought up that double side card thing that the Lions did. The chiefs were trying to do that last week against the Seahawks on the first drives. And then they just got away from it as the game kind of flow happened. I'm curious if Ben Johnson sees that and goes like, okay, do some of this kind of Colson Love win, Sam Roush, the other tight end, they drafted from Stanford, use them in certain ways because that your grass match draws when you're playing these tough defenses. So I'm curious what the inspiration is for Ben Johnson, who's had success, but just curious what it is for this year. To me, it's a tie, it's a play action. Now those two tight end looks attacking over the middle, but again, easier said than done. So I can't wait for this one. An awesome one. Visit with you again. It's really hard because, like I say, throughout this, there's going to be times where I'm inconsistent with my reasoning for how I have these teams. I differ from the AP a little bit. I try to work teams for wins. And you can even sit there with Miami at number one and go, "Okay, what has really been that great?" And that's the carryover thing that you cannot ignore. And you can watch all day long Saturday and go, "I think this team is better." And that doesn't necessarily work. So, look, here's how I did my 12 after another 12 hours on Saturday. Miami survives UNC. This was a team that was down in the fourth quarter. They score a touchdown. Mensa, Timalek, Itoni is the best quarterback wide receiver combo. I know what Jeremiah Smith being the number one broad receiver, but whether it was saying when he was healthy and certainly now what they have a quarterback at Ohio State, it is there's just no maybe Oregon State. There's nothing close to what Miami has when it's like, "Hey, we have to figure out a way to solve this thing." And it's like, "Okay, we'll just do this." Fumble recovery, that kind of sealed the game, then a pass touchdown, although UNC did score to make this one look a little closer. But for a night, if we want to dig into Miami a little bit here, for a night, Billy Edwards, a quarterback for the Tar Heels was fantastic. I mean, other than the strip fumble, the kind of sealed the game for Miami after they scored again, he was unbelievable. The quarterback. This is a trend against his hurricane defense because at one point I was wondering if you were to ask Cain's fans, would you rather have Mensa in this year's defensive front? Really, it's secondary, more so than the front, but last year's front was nuts. But you could have, okay, but what would you rather have? Last year's front seven really was the entire 11, but you get the point because of the two draft picks off the edge and everything else. Would you rather have that, look back or Mensa in this defense? And I still think that it's probably Mensa. But this defense certainly against the pass. And yes, because teams are down to Miami, they have to pass the football, but on yards per attempt. So let's ignore all the passing totals. I mean, Pitt went for 334 in the air against the Hurricanes. We saw what happened in Florida State. We saw what happened in UNC. This is a real thing. And so we can sit there and talk about the Cain's injuries in the secondary when the beginning of the year, certainly. And they're still like some questionable injury status stuff happening in the secondary. But they are 84th in college football yards per attempt defensively. Last year, they were 22nd. So it doesn't matter. They're going to be in the playoffs. They could probably lose two games and still get in the playoffs, considering what's happening around them. They are dogs on the road at Notre Dame. Number two, Georgia kicks Florida's ass. Almost held them scoreless. Interesting note that I didn't know. Florida had scored in 480 straight games, which is the active streak. So if you're looking for anything to spend positively here for Florida, I credit them. And some are all deciding to not kick field goals. I'm forth down just to keep the streak alive. So, you know, culture, culture setting, and Jaden Bah, who was bottled up at running back his pass on the two point conversion for the Gators, dealing with that pass rush and getting that off. That makes me like him even more. And I hope it's part of his draft video B-roll when he's drafted. But yeah, they got their ass kicked in Georgia, kind of back to normal here. Although the fumbling issue, two more fumbles for the Georgia offense, Taylor had a big one there where Georgia's going to make this score even out there. Maybe would have led the shutout. I don't know. I don't know if it's it's a real thing statistically. I don't know that I'm looking at it saying Georgia has this fatal fumble flaw. It could just be a really weird stretch of games for them. Number three, I was tempted to keep BYU here. Utah's number three in the AP. Utah's favored by five and a half at home against Rice. And look, part of this is wanting to give BYU credit for the win against Notre Dame, which Utah does not have. Utah doesn't have anything like that. The Houston game terrific comeback. That was kind of that stretch against the Colorado. Houston, we're like, I'm not quite sure. And then since the ad is coming in, after their domination against Texas Tech, and you're kind of thinking like, you know, a lot of the free game shows are like, oh, this is kind of a tough spot for them. Look what they just did to tech. But at the same time, you're like, well, because of what they just did to Texas Tech, more often than not, like the same thing with BYU after Notre Dame against UCF, although Notre Dame BYU was slightly larger than Texas Tech Cincinnati, considering what's on the line. But you get the point here. It's like, all right, here we go. And that's very clear. Like either a team is on a roll or they're a mentally or emotionally exhausted after such a such a big win the week before. So Utah puts it on them. So I'll keep Utah here at three. And by the way, the UCF Baylor score didn't exactly help my, like, I thought UCF balled that day against BYU. They lost 41 to 9 to Baylor, who's just fired their coach. So we'll go with Utah there. That means BYU with four that puts them ahead of Notre Dame, a hilarious first half against Navy. Notre Dame had the football for six minutes. Navy's running all their stuff. It's all working long drives a million plays. And reminding me of like whenever Navy was having or Army, whenever they were good or maybe not even good, you would sit there and you'd watch the halftime shows. And then there'd always be a guy that would be like, you know, the thing about the service academies is like, keep it specific to Navy. And look, you know, I love the troops, right? So this isn't, but it's like these guys are fighting for something a little bit more. These guys, you sign up for something different when you go to Navy and the discipline and the attitude. This is a different group of players. And you're seeing this play out in the first half or they're technical. They know their assignments. They're blocking harder. They're doing all those things that you'd expect from guys in the service academy. And you're like, yeah, why are they fucking two and six? Anyway, number six. I have Kentucky higher than the AP does. I think Kentucky, it's funny because when Joel Clack came on and talked about Indian and he's like, in what world would an SEC team in the Navy was basically talking about a SEC teams. And this is not me going at Clack about the SEC stuff at all. But he was like, look, Indiana, when they were undefeated national champ and the look where they are on the AP poll, that does not happen to a non brand. Because look, the same thing would have happened for Ohio State. So it's not just SEC specific. So it was a bit of like anti-Indiana thing even though they just had one of the greatest seasons we've ever seen. Kentucky is kind of guilty of this in the SEC in a way. I went through it again. Preseason rankings, there were nine SEC teams in the top 25. There were 13 teams that got votes. Kentucky wasn't one of those 13 teams. They've got the one loss. The schedule, you could do a bit of what have they done. But by the time they're done with their 12 games, because it's not the toughest of the SEC schedules, but the LSU win is huge now. Like thinking about like LSU facing kind of an elimination game, this upcoming week in Baton Rouge against Alabama, but had LSU won that game knowing the favoritism that they probably would have had in the polls. And then being able to justify like, hey, they lost, Adol Miss, Kiffin's return. They played great in the second half. Not enough, Trident Chambers is terrific. Like you know the way you could talk LSU and do a really high ranking if it's just the one loss, considering all the stuff that's happening this year. But that's a really nice one for Kentucky two point conversions back to Bat games. And yet when this is all said and done, not the toughest schedule of the 12 teams that are playing the regular season, nine of the 12 will have been ranked at some point. Sure. Sometimes the rankings mean, hey, we have a top 25 win. You're like, that team stinks. They fired their coach. They're six and six. That shouldn't really count. We know what we do with these arguments. But that's still pretty impressive. They are a six and a half point dog at Tennessee this week. I imagine a lot of people will be picking Tennessee. So number seven. Finally, we got to UCLA. They didn't even need to gash Nevada. Nevada wanted to give this one away. Foreign receptions three on the first three possessions for their offense. I don't know if they'll be favorite in the last four games. The Michigan game Michigan's defense is so good that it's still it's still kind of a tough how. I don't know what Ohio State's going to look like a quarterback at the end of the year in that game. They'll be heavy favorites because Michigan's offense is so bad. But even with Tommy Caron and their big touchdown late in their game this past Saturday, like, I don't know. I imagine you say, well, they'd be favored at home against SC because that's really what you're going to be looking at here. Now, it doesn't none of this really matters. They're going to the playoffs, like their schedule's not that tough. They could probably lose those two games and maybe still can play us, which seems fucking crazy. All right. What are you doing with Indiana, buddy? I have them lower now because I feel like this has been a month coming where clearly there's something wrong with this offense I don't know if it's just about the Hoover injury. It was it wasn't so bad that he couldn't play Against Michigan the previous week's dignity hit said they had been tempted to bench Hoover for Grant Wilson Who's the seventh year guy? We got four of them on the map old dominion on the map. I mean this guy's been everywhere So there was something that happened during this game against Minnesota where Minnesota was in it Not because of their offense, but you had Indiana with awful punts two missfuogles I think another one was a bad snap again a terrible day on third down for Indiana's offense So I guess I credit like minutes sort of staying in the fight, but Indiana was welcoming them into like yeah We're gonna screw up again on this possession So a lot of mistakes from the Hoosiers here, but on that third downtrend that I've been looking at here for a while If you go through three of the last four games, including the Minnesota result the Hoosiers are 7 of 37 on third downs against Ohio State They were 8 of 16 so signates with Hoover and they showed on the broadcasts and I don't know if the broadcasters didn't want it Assume because it be a pretty negative thing But it was pretty clear what was happening because signates like holding up one and he's talking to Hoover and Hoover doesn't want Anything to do with dignity doesn't want to look at him because he's getting bad news And it was pretty clearly signates saying hey, you got one more possession to kind of turn this thing around They weren't able to turn around so whether that's Hoover with this arm wrist thing or something else on another hit in this game But he was still like good enough for dignity to go I'll let you go back out there, but like we've got to see something So this still felt like more of a production thing you hope the production is been diminished because of this injury stuff So terrible on third down, but with Becker and Marsh on the outside you're kind of surprised They're even in a game like this that comes down to overtime Which also came down to overtime luckily for the Hoosiers despite the terrible clock management from dignity where they're looking at Minnesota Who wants to run down the clock they're debating their own 60 yard field goal or whether or not to punt they can't go from it from there I mean Minnesota is not going to prefer what was it fourth and eight so on the other side of it was dignity because I know there's a lot of games We're all watching there's kind of that one and a half minute to like two-minute stretch even with the two-minute time-out slash learning Where I don't think all of these coaches are idiots where everybody seems to think that you're always supposed to call that time-out on defense to save yourself the time But I do think there's a little more nuance in it and a lot of these plays because I've just seen too many smart coaches go No, I might actually want to run a little clock here until we actually know what's going to happen That was not the case of the Miko Ryan's in the Texans Colts game Because he didn't have enough time coming back and in this case This isn't debateable because you're either stopping the clock hoping to have more time after a made or missed field goal They're they're not going to go for it with that offense and if they punt it you would want that more time too. So signati Totally got it wrong. I mean he explained it that he was kind of like looking at seeing what they wanted to do and This is one of the spots you're like how can there be this many people in the sideline and not realize like you want to preserve time Whether maker miss you want to preserve time and you can even argue there's another time out that he doesn't use when they're able to tie it up themselves They hit becker and over time. So with their D line becker and marsh This turbo got crushed in this game too Like you'd still think against a lot of big ten opponents especially corner and the outside like you should just be able like How can you just can't win one of the three snaps with those guys in the outside? I know I'm making it sound easier than it actually is but I have them eight here But then I feel bad about that because I'm like Even though saying get hurt now like how many other big ten teams right now with the way this conference looks can hang just punch for punch for the Ohio State Not many Unless it's USC at home in the rain against a three-star quarterback who's making a spare start ever all right So that puts us at number nine where I'd like to stop Texas best win is better than Bama's Bama's best win is what right now miss miss to be state Better loss I guess I'll go resume Texas Bama team Yeah, I think that's what it is. I think Bama's the better football team. So I'll put them at nine. I'll put Texas at 10 right now passing yards I think this is passing yards per game or passing yards per attempt. They're all terrible whatever Texas that you want to look at there They're behind Indiana Rutgers, Illinois San Jose State Marshall and Kenasaw State I'll put Ole Miss at 11th with the head to head with Texas. They do have three ranked wins in Ohio State 12 so without saying I think this is pretty fair No offense he was in he's a small guy mentioned to three-star. I Expeed played exactly how I expected I think some people are talking them up a little bit more than I would But I mean what did you really expect on this? Their defense surprisingly got lit up against an SC team that's really talented on offense So it's maddening like I don't I don't even get mad when SC stinks on defense I just can't believe when they're that bad on offense like we've seen from them a couple times and then after the game Lincoln Riley What you expected because part of me I get he's taken all this shit People wonder if he's gonna be there anymore if he wants to stay there He asked a point to this win seeing hey, I told you just weeks ago. I did a where's the signature win for Lincoln Riley at SC It is tough to find one where like that was awesome and the history books Remember this is them taking down number two at their place even if we watched it on Saturday night and went well I mean yeah, it said number two But it's also kind of weird But most people are gonna forget all that kind of stuff So will we if SC has a disappointing season at the end of 26 and Riley's back to for 27 Will we still get to ask like hey, where's that signature win? I think we can talk about it and go yeah that probably doesn't look as good as it does on paper in that moment But Riley who seems just fucking miserable all the time You know, I was thinking about this concept the other day because I haven't heard this anywhere else because it kind of reminded me of Pete Carol and Reminded me of some of these coaches that I've got to know who talk about how tough this job is and all the stuff that we don't Understand like we think we understand but we don't really understand the day-to-day and people pulling at you and all the stuff You have to deal with and Mac Brown will talk about it sometimes in Texas to be like you have to be a very different person To handle everything that comes into the Texas job the Texas job is likely too big For most of the coaches that you would think like could could do the job there like that you've got to be kind of a politician you've got to kind of figure all this stuff out and When I think about Pete Carol at SC, which isn't necessarily Texas in the demands part of it, right? Still a blue blood program all occurs with it But I don't I don't think it's as crazy as Alabama. I don't think it's as crazy as Florida or LSU or Ohio State You know, I think SC in a way like you get to avoid a lot of that stuff while still having the prestige and Pete Carol like knew that Pete Carol be like okay Even though there's gonna be all sorts of bullshit even though probably less when you're winning like Pete was I'm just gonna enjoy I'm gonna enjoy it the entire time make fun of me if you want go ahead I was doing lunges the other day I had like 10 to go and I'm like this is gonna suck so bad I just want to stop and I thought I go hey, you know, it's gonna suck just enjoy it And that's what I would say to like Lincoln Riley. Yeah It's gonna be annoying. There's going to be all these things, but like you chose this So you might as well just enjoy and I think that's how Pete Carol like looked at life and looked at all of his different stops Where yeah, there's all these things that are gonna suck. I'm just going to enjoy it the entire time So I don't blame Lincoln Riley for like having the statement and the doubters and hate you know all that kind of stuff Because you knew he had to roll this one out and be like hey, I finally got my signature win here. I just beat number two in the country but I don't know if he's ever really going to understand that The longevity in this is probably finding a way to enjoy it or putting together a save and type resume Which no one's ever gonna do or you can just tell everybody to fuck off We write back after a quick word from our sponsors Hey, it's Fran from chicks in the office Abercrombie is and always has been the clear destination for holiday dressing Their sweaters are a literal cozy staple and when I'm out to dinner or out with friends a queue matching set is a must wear for me And PSA their new wool blend a and f carry trench is the final layer to have make this season all about dressing for the moments that turn into tradition Have a very Abercrombie holiday shop in the app online and in stores You want details five I drive a Ferrari 355 cabriolay What's up? I have every toy you can possibly imagine And best of all kids I am liquid So now you know what's possible Let me tell you what's required like advice like advice are at gmail.com We've got Kyle In a mix new LL bean buddy. Oh, not new picked us up in Danberry on my big trip But I was just waiting for uh did that LL bean store is awesome really great Would recommend, but yeah, I was just waiting for the right time to pop it on So he's gonna another sick us open hat I've worn this one before this is technically in my wife's app, but I just let so Yeah, they're all unisex come on No, I there was not there was no lean there. Did you hear a lean at all Kyle? No, I'm just saying that didn't didn't mean to come off as aggressive. It's fine. Where you get free Pre-heating defense right there. No, I don't know. I think it's a good weekend. We had a good We had a good Halloween. Want a golf scramble turn around Saturday. So we're feeling great. Oh What do you get? What's the prize? So it was at a private course my brother-in-law and so I just I donate all that whatever the Wittings are he just just go ahead and grab that I'm care. It's fine. I'm just there for the W It's all about the process. It's a great attitude Are you forced to donate? Is that what you're telling us? Is it understood? It's not like a life-changing money either But yeah, I don't know get a good run. We won. I don't belong there. So I was a guest Keep it moving. Let's take the victor. So good Halloween's all around. Kyle, no parties for you Dude, no, not at all. We went to like a blue plate special type dinner with my sister. We were like five o'clock in and out And then I went got a little specialty cocktail Thing that I was gonna put together. I'm like, we'll go to my parents house And we'll see like the trick or treat her see if there was like a mob of 40 people when I was pulling in the driveway from dinner Like just at the beginning of dark and then nothing nobody. I heard like voices in the distance, but nobody came It was a bit of a bummer. I was ready to just kick it with the fam and just you know see who comes to the house and like nobody came so A little bit of a bummer, but the cocktail was great My headline Thanksgiving with it was like a cranberry rosemary vodka number So you get the model torch out. No, I didn't I didn't I didn't I just I did muddle some rosemary though nice Got to find out a way to not have that shit get stuck in your throat So maybe I got a strain into a little better, but um, yeah, I think this could headline this could headline Thanksgiving Because you go autumn cocktails. They're always people always want to put maple syrup in there and shit like that And I I think this was a nice balance. So I'm I'm pretty happy with it We're on the rosemary. Oh excuse me. We're on the rosé and jalapenos right now. Oh Yeah, it's a thing. So you do now Yeah, apparently All right guys are all over it finished up a nice little round a golf last week and guys went straight to the rosé and jalapeno And I was like what the fuck are you guys doing grasp by the way Yeah, well as well. Yeah big golf. Oh, yeah, but I don't know if we want to get on the graphic out and everything You guys made a graphic because my friends were like wait a minute like you didn't break 80 Like what's going on? Why would they make a graphic? I'm like it's it's a show Like don't then they were like kind of bummed out by the whole thing They're like nice round, but dude like they're making graphics and somebody's like is that gonna be a sure And I went it got it went south really quick and I went well you guys just relax and just admit it you don't Understand any of the stuff and it's just That's it and then it's kind of where you run on the internet, but not in person you know like this. No. No wait wait wait So like it wasn't that he would be a sick sure do you imagine if we just had Ryan holding of a ball and just 84 on it? I could tell you have three guys that wouldn't order it. Yeah, well, I think they're in the minority. I think they'd be hilarious Now, well, maybe we'll do that another time because people want to talk about the plank too. We get a few meals on that My wife like literally was mad at me. She saw the video and she basically doubted me And I was like, do you want me to do a plank right here? I actually did one solo. I could easily do a minute easily Okay, nice Sounds like college. I don't know about that, but a minute yes My three-year-old niece experienced Skittles for the first time ever Dude, she looked like she was on mushrooms She was spending time in me And the look on her face is so like just Pure euphoria with the worlds You know Just Skittles isn't is it intense? I mean your first skittles like I'm trying to think of like can he's like that sour patch kids would be up there We were just like whoa, this is my last like the first time to eat this you know, yeah, she just saw like new dimensions You know, because I'd be like which ones are favorite and she'd just go this one She just down that yeah, I feel like no is it purple is it red is it this one? boom And then the separation of the bag of skittles started war war three over there. So it's like I gotta go Feel russle like it like it'd smell colors You feel sounds that's good. I gotta be a part of that you know somebody like I know because like I'm finally gonna watch the pranos. I feel like a little bit of like awesome You know skittles for a three-year-old that's that's probably that that's on the top of the list That's awesome. You're sitting there during the intro like he's driving back to New Jersey All right Apparently I never played sports 58170 basketball comp is Rajan Rondo if he never learned how to dribble with his head up huge fan of the show Few years ago my wife and I moved to a new area after nearly a decade in DC We've enjoyed the move But make a new friends in our early 30s has been a challenge especially now as we're past the stage routinely hitting the town on week And slowly but surely we've built a new social circle Including another married couple my wife met through work But here's the catch. I've slowly developed the Ick for the wife in this couple who will call Hannah I don't know almost Hannah's I know are pretty cool, but we'll go we'll go with Hannah is the type of person who hijacks dinner conversations to rant about family drama or recount every detail about some negative interaction She had with a retail employee and not in a funny entertaining way in a genuinely worked up over emotional way But since making friends in your 30s is hard my wife and I have largely brushed this sort of thing often try not to be overly judgmental What might finally push me over the edge though is something I feel insane even typing out Hannah refuses to believe I played sports growing up my wife and I recently welcomed our first son On multiple occasions including it my wife's baby shower friends and family have commented around Hannah that I'll probably be a quote Sporty dad Unquote Because I played a lot of sports growing up and every time Hannah acts perplex insisting that I only watch sports Not play them Just quick time out. She's doing this at your wife's baby shower. Yeah, whoa Like new friend Like oh, I'll probably play a lot of sports. He's very very sporty. What? That guy. I just met him. This one fuck that guy That seems great That was a great point through maybe we'll get that as a gift but nothing can top. Let's not just start Let's not start doing them every week. That's a flood market. Okay. Yeah, right. I'm not using the cot one enough That puts me in an awkward position I don't want to be the guy who says in the most holding my nose while speaking voice imaginable actually I played soccer in high school. I was kind of a big deal in my own down. Yeah Or launches into the classic. I could have played in college spiel 20-year-old me would have had an ego driven field day with a shit 32-year-old me Courage is in any discussion of my high school sports quote career And yet here I am writing an email to three strangers about it That's fine man. We're here for you. I can appreciate the humor of someone visually profiling me like I'm a plumber who played pick up a bob koozy But I also find the whole thing bizarre personally if I learned something new about a friend I'd probably be interested in hearing about it Hannah's response is outright rejection like the idea of me having played sports is simply too ridiculous to entertain Maybe I'm reading way too much of this but combined with our other corks It's gotten to the point where I'm genuinely less excited about hanging out with them So life advice crew am I being overly sensitive? I just take the ego hit move on or is it reasonable to distance myself from someone who's social behavior Increasingly rubs me the wrong way Even if that means sacrificing one of the few consistent friendships we've managed to build in our new location I mean age-old problem right your buddy's partner is a huge bummer. That's just it's not new. It's a new but it's annoying It is, but you know, he's he's fighting the good fighter. He real he realizes how hard this is Yeah, this is this is a bummer, but I think you kind of just You just maybe clam up a little bit when she's talking you don't engage with her stories. It sounds like Whoever's in her life is gas she thinks she's killing it with these you know These stories about you know berating the Walgreens lady or you know Or whatever her fam her how bad her family life is and all the drama. So she like she's not changing I think she thinks she's she's probably killing it. She probably thought that your your sports thing where she pushed back was hilarious. So Yeah, I think I think you just learned how to navigate buddies with with tough partners and It's kind of it So you're not getting up the friendship people wait. I don't think I am. I don't think I am either But like I it would be hard for me to swallow my tongue a lot of these times I'm just but that's kind of the best move otherwise you just have this you know You're you've made an enemy out of this person that you're gonna be at dinner parties with and at sucks I mean, I like a little drama, but could be fun though because then you could just be an out you can go full heal It would just be a huge asshole. Yeah, there's a way to do it and you're letting if your buddy calls you out on you The numerous examples of first sucking are are here. So what would you like to do? I mean One of these I mean, I would say I it would really piss me off even in my mid 30s if somebody was like actually not there There's no way you could possibly play anything growing up sports, but that would be that would hurt That's basically what he's dealing with. Yeah, I would never emphasis. I would never get up. So I would do you think I'd be rude. I'd be probably a huge asshole on top of that She's also easy to hate though because like cool You treat every interaction with with the friend group now is like your own personal therapy session To bitch about family members and people that you can interact with like that's also a shitty person So it actually should be really easy for you to just be addicted. That's what I would do Yeah, if there was a bubbly like a boiling over moment that would probably be it I think it's certainly when it got Steve's coat, you know if it was You know after after all these other little things are you like oh this one no pro how's today gonna go and then and then she does that weird thing at Kind of like one of your moments there um, I think if there was gonna be a boiling point that would have been it So I mean you weathered to storm I think but I mean what interests does she have like is she in like what does she do? Is she a gym person? Yeah, I can't believe you go you know the gym five times a week would have never not when you can't believe it Yeah, you start throwing it back at her that's like I that that's I mean, you know you're I'm not saying, like, that's not how you are. - You major in your eyes, so be it in the way. - You should have my zero taste. (laughing) What are you in, Zachary? - Yeah, there's nothing about you that seems creative at all. - Don't think this is the right way. - Yeah, you strike me as an Imagine Dragons person, right? - Yeah, you're an astronaut. - You're never saying anything interesting about anything. So I think you can have a little fun with this. I think there's a way to maybe build it up and just maybe it's drink one or two, not seven or eight, 'cause who knows what's gonna happen there, right? Although that might be more fun for everybody else involved, but there could be some lack, there could be some damage there. The opposite of a treaty where it's like, we are now sworn enemies. But maybe just, the next time she says, "All right, let's have it out." And like, kind of be funny about it. And be like, "Let's have it out." You present your case of why it seems absurd that I'm somebody who grew up playing sports, and then I will state my case, and then we will take it to the jury around us right now. Of like, is your position more valid or is my disdain for your position or my confusion, you know, a softer way to sell that? Am I more right to be confused as a boy, you can't seem to understand it and have it like, make it be a night, put the board games away. This is the case, this is the trial. And you could have a little fun with it. - Is it an away funny style trial episode? - Yeah, just like state, like I'm not in the course. 'Cause she sucks. She's probably like, "Oh, and you're so mad about it too." - It's sensitive, yeah. - Yeah, and you just, that's what sucks sometimes about that, "Oh, you're sensitive." "Oh, are you getting so mad?" And you're like, "No, in this case, you're insane." And I just want you to like make your case for why it seems ridiculous to think that like, my interest in sports based on what I've played means that it's weird that people think that my kid is gonna be into sports. Like, do you realize what you're saying here? Like, I don't know what you're looking for. - I don't know what you're looking for. - All right, what he looks like, like is, you know what I'm saying? - Well, her husband's better be fucking Jack Reacher, okay? - Yeah. - Yeah. - But like, you know, did you put on a few pounds? Like, I do not know what you're looking at. - I do not know what you're looking at. - And not Krew's Reacher. - Like, or so, you just won't. - You just won't. - You just won't. I don't even know what someone would look like for me to be so positive that they didn't play sports. - The thing is, I think this isn't gonna come up again. She's kind of the person that like, it sounds like just can't let the room get quiet. So she's just throwing shit at the wall. I don't think this is gonna, she might not even remember she said this. A night, so I don't know what the next angle's gonna be, but it sounds like she can't help herself with this type of stuff. So, I mean, you just gotta have to be on your toes being creative, 'cause I think it'll be something else. It'll be like, you didn't make this macaroni salad or something like it'll be something like that next time. Like, it'll just be, you know, you won't know where it's coming from. I think she's good for one of these all the time. - Navigating attractive friends at work. Holy Trinity, that's nice. All right, needs some advice, 33, 5, 111, 165, no impressive gym stats except for the fact that I was once, upon a time 250 pounds. Wow, basketball comp, Avery Bradley, now it is. (laughs) Guarding the opposition's best guard can knock down some threes and grab some boards or it's never dribbling with any confidence. That's a good Avery Bradley squadron, of course. I try to bring it up. I think it gets the nicks in a playoff game at some point. And it was like, yeah, this isn't working out. - All right, I have two female colleagues who've now become quite close friends. I'll be lying if I said they both weren't extremely attractive. So that would be a lie. - In the picture here? - Yeah. - Both of them are also in relationships with one getting married soon and I'm attending the wedding with the other friend. Hmm, cut to the chase. The one who's getting married, I'm probably marginally closer with, but it is a solid three way friendship. Both are good hangs. We catch up maybe monthly outside of work for dinner, sometimes drinks, but not as often anymore as we're all taking our health seriously. Sounds like it, 33. All right, two, three years ago, when the friendship was getting stronger, the girl who was getting married and I had ended up in a situation of work where we practically had to work and overnight ship together. Just her and I, it was chill, fun. We had lots of discussions about life, our relationships, beliefs, dreams, et cetera. On that night, she asked me what my power ranking top five female colleagues would be. - Oh yeah. You'd marry Jerry? Jerry? - I was hesitant to talk about it, but she openly told me I was her clear number one. Again, I've been a big guy most of my life. Now going from obese to having abs in a strong jawline, not that those things matter. If they matter to you, they matter me. - Yeah, good for you, right? You get abs. Over the last three or four years, I know my biggest strength is my humor and personality. So this guy's got abs. - You got a whole lot of it. - I got a whole lot of it. - Yeah. - I took the compliment and repaid the faith by saying the same thing back to her. Nothing changed. Friendship, just getting bigger, better between us. And the three of us in general one night, I was having a few drinks with the other friend and she's made a few comments about the bride to be having the hots for me. Uh oh. I questioned her and laughed it off because as I mentioned, I'm happy in my relationship and I really enjoy these friendships. She has since revoked the comments and asked me not to bring it up ever. Despite how content I am in my life currently, I like to live my life with a no stone's unturned mindset. What is that mean, buddy? You better pipe down when they ask if anybody has anything they need to say. This is a very normal email until that last line. I just don't want to wonder what if. Yeah, I'm in a relationship. The three of us get along great. She's getting married, but I'm kind of in no stones unturned guy if you catch my drift. Should I leave this or should I say something? I run the chance of jeopardizing friendships and relationships of courts, which I don't want to do, but there might always be something nagging me the back of my head and an itch to scratch if you will. I won't. I mean, for starters, we got to leave the engage to be married girl alone. Like where? That seems bare minimum. Feels like we got issues off limits. After that, you know, the other ones, I don't know if you're not, if you're just turning over stones, dude, feels like if you want to turn a stone over, that's fine. Just understand what the consequences could be of this. I think you got a good thing going. It's I think, you know, it's not crazy to have like a tension that work and stuff like that. You can do with that. That could be fun some days, you know, whatever. That's enough. You're good there. And when that's gone and all of a sudden, it's just like kind of weird now that you can, you'll be longing for that feeling before like the what if, because that's a wake. Sometimes that is actually wake cooler than you find out. And it's actually like, well, this is actually not what I thought it was going to be. And now there's no fun question mark anymore. So by the way, everyone's in relationships in this situation. Every single one. Every single one. Yeah. And they're all friends and work together. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. If you want to life advice just kick the can down the road, buddy. Look, I'm all for like a game it out, you know, how does it go? But it's just there's there's so many bad ways this is only going to go. And your only thing is like, I don't want it to be nagging at me later on in life. Like, welcome to fucking life, buddy. Welcome to life, new hot guy, you know, this is fairly normal. If you're in the mix for a bunch of years that you're going to think about somebody from the past, you're going to play out this alternative route of things. Um, like do you, if you haven't even said you like care about her? Yeah. Do you have an answer to me my question? What's the best case scenario? I think this woman is probably way hotter than the woman he's dating now. And he's like, is there any way I can wreck their marriage? Like, I think it was the nicest, most like stealth version of him saying like he's up for just hitting the button on all this stuff, right? Load up. So of course, any sane person is going to listen to this and say, what are you doing? Like, why would you do it? You said you like your relationship. You didn't say that like secretly you are in love with the coworker that you can't stop thinking about her that you start your day thinking about her and then you just do dumb shit where you're like driving around going, Oh, I wonder if she likes citer. And you're like, what the fuck's wrong with me right now? You know, like if those things are happening, if you feel like this is something that you need to do and that it would be reciprocated in some way, but like that was probably a few years ago when she told you you were her number one ranking and she desperately wanted you to say that she was your number one ranking, right? So you missed that window and if you're going to sit there and say like, oh, this is going to haunt you a little bit like breaking up with a girl that says, you know, I would have been fine if it was like an open relationship, but just for you and you're like, what? I think there's all sorts of times you're going to play out, but it's just, it's too late. It's too late in your case for doing this, I'm sure you've left out plenty of stuff in the email, but based on the information we have, your case is not strong enough to do any of this stuff. Yeah, I wonder how long has he been the abs 2.0 version of himself? Like is he just wondering what the peak of his powers is and he might just be alone for a while. I think that's a lot of the good point. I think you might decide if you have to be alone for a little while and just see, you know, which could be a bummer. That's how you end up thinking about your girlfriend that way, you know, should ask for your girlfriend now. Am I actually too hot in my set? I just need to talk to you as a friend right now. Yeah. So yeah, I'd look inward and see if you got a little of that going on because I'm not sure if that's going to go way if we're talking about moving forward in life. So, okay, good show today. A lot of football to be expected. Maybe we can do, um, I think we did enough on the golf. Maybe we'll do a plank recap for the kids. 10 minutes tomorrow. There you go. It's Rudy's point. We're gonna look today. That was good. Oh yeah, 10 good minutes. Get your NBA questions in full, full slate tonight. We got some games on tap before election day, which is still one of the strangest structures of a question I've ever heard when Suamati I was benched the second time in the reporter S. Kelsey's like, this is the second time he's been benched before election day. What? It was so weird. Um, yeah. All right, whatever. So, NBA Mailbag, [email protected], NBA questions, and then I'll probably just who knows what I'm gonna do with so much hoops on the dock of tonight. Thanks, Tom, Kevin, Seruti, and Kyle. That'll do for the show, all of our episodes on Netflix, The Rhyme or Solar Show, [BLANK_AUDIO]

Podcast Summary

Key Points:

  1. The Detroit Lions successfully executed a strategic offensive shift by using two tight ends as fullbacks, creating new gaps in Minnesota’s defense and leading to significant yardage against one of the NFL’s best defenses.
  2. Minnesota's defense struggled with 19 missed tackles and poor coverage, particularly against the Lions’ running game and quarterback Kyler Murray, who faced inconsistent decision-making and lack of rhythm in passing plays.
  3. The Lions’ offense, while not dominant, showed improved execution through effective formation changes, including a high number of two- and three-back runs, and key performances from running back D’Andre Swift and wide receiver Jalen Reagor.
  4. Denver’s defense, despite being a top-tier unit, is criticized for its inconsistent performance, with a historically poor record of high-risk, fourth-quarter comebacks that win games but fail to reflect true offensive strength.
  5. The show highlights a debate over whether Minnesota’s defense or certain quarterbacks (like Kyler Murray or Justin Herbert) would be better in a matchup, with the consensus leaning toward the defense as a top-tier unit despite recent lapses.
  6. Tampa’s historic win is noted as a standout, while Baltimore and Buffalo games are described as disappointing due to poor offensive execution and defensive breakdowns.
  7. The show promotes NutriFull’s new women’s hair growth supplement as 100% vegan, biotin-free, and available with a $15 discount and free shipping via promo code “checks.”
  8. DraftKings is highlighted as a nationwide sports betting partner with new customer incentives, including three months of NBA League Pass, and is promoted as a key platform for fans to follow live games and playoff action.
