Good to see you. It's that time of year. Thanks for doing this. It is. It's great to get you on a Monday, a refresh shot of the weekend, hopefully. And plus, I've had time to kind of like process the, you know, think through things. So you got me at a great time. I could do two hours on this, as we know, but to move through it, let's do the top. Let's do the top 10. And then, you know, like you always do take us in any direction where you think that's the most important stuff. But we start at the top with my homes getting 49 of the 50 tier one votes. And then I have to imagine your editors use that quote as my homes being a two at the top to get everybody to like go, wait a minute, what am I reading here? But at that point, we've already clicked on. So it's he and Alan Allen's 48 tier one, two, tier two. I just don't know how anyone can have either of these guys. But I guess the bigger question is, have you felt like there is a very definitive my homes to Alan shift here, even though in this exercise, my homes is still technically number one? Yeah, here's what I think. Like if people are being honest, a one game matchup against Alan is a tougher matchup. Like take away the knee injury for my home. Let's just say you had to play one game. Don't make it a Super Bowl where we start bringing in okay, playoffs and all that. But it's just playing a game on paper, Josh Allen's a tougher matchup, right? But does that make him a better quarterback yet? I don't think people are really going there. But they are looking at the chief saying, hey, we understand no running game. We understand the weapons are bad, but you know, can we have another, you know, we have a great season from this offense again. It's been a while, even though they rank top 10 and they've won a ton of games, we know it doesn't look the same. I think people just realized with my homes, it's not like he's falling off physically. Other than the injury, now he's going to come back from that, but he's not end of career, you know, Peyton Manu can't sling it or he's not end of career drew breeze who's lost his fastball. I mean, he's just a pointless career. I think as one of the people I talked to mentioned, you know, Joe Montana was there. He won two more MVP's and Super Bowl. So no one's bearing him yet, but they're watching to see how it goes. Yeah, and we're also talking about the guy again, had 49 of the 50 tier one votes. So it's not like he ended up fourth in this PB tier's list. But I am of the belief. He's 32, right? Or 31 in September. Excuse me. Yeah. There's no way this is it, but it is now three years of this. And I remember going into last year, and listen to people talk about, like, Alan's surpassing the homes. And I just went, look, I don't care what the stats are. Like, we can't do that yet because for a game, I imagine my homes is still the most brutal guy that you have to prepare for. And that was after Super Bowl loss. Now, when you throw in what we just saw from both of them in this last season, I also think, like on the other side of it, it's entirely fair. And it's kind of like a reminder, like, my homes hasn't been my homes for three years. He hasn't had over 30 touchdowns with three straight seasons. I think this scramble rate that you bring up last year, there's a 9% scramble rate. And it's like, that's actually what he doesn't want to do. So then it speaks to the issues that they've had a tackle. It speaks to the issues that they've had a trying to figure out any receiver. Obviously, with Kenneth Walker coming in, they feel like, okay, do we have like an actual running back? You can take the load off of this guy. So when I've watched the games, I understand why the stats have declined. And I don't think it's somebody at this young of an age where Stafford's 38, and I'm thinking, like, do you really want to think that my homes is never going to be that guy again? Like, I can't get there even if a year ago, I was probably way more defensive of the Mahomes Allen conversation where now I'd have more of an open mind about it. Yeah, I agree with you. I think, look, if they were both on a Hall of Fame ballot right now, then it choose one of them. We're choosing Mahomes. He's got the whole body of work and all of that. But we're also that three years matters, you know, and I think he's his scrambling and running around has been staining them. It's like the guy who's got his head above the water and underneath that's thrashing wildly to be there. There's a lot of stress. He's like, he's at the red line to be there. And you don't necessarily think he's going to go under, but like, he's not walking on water like he was or in his career. And that's just the way that it is. So I, he did, he and Josh Allen did this too. They did these long term contracts where they got great money, but they also did it to help the team in terms of structuring the money and that type of thing. And I think you'd like to feel better about something else on their team offensively that is differentiating. And I include Andy Reid in that too, one of the greatest coaches of all time. But he does, he need to change gears too. We see so many, I think I gave him an example, Stafford, the last couple years, they have, you know, gotten back a little bit under center, some run game, just some things that can give the defense, give Stafford a little bit of a break and not just have him run at the red line. And I feel like my home just doesn't have that. What's helping my homes? Right? It's like they're, they're putting more weight on him. He's carrying more. Now they're going to have a really young defense this year too, which could take some time. So, and he's coming off the injury. I don't know if I'm expecting a big sprint out of the gates where we suddenly feel like moms is back. Are you? I don't know what to make of the receivers. The kind of Walker thing gets me excited. And, you know, they've, they've invested so much in this whole line. And we still, you know, have loved the interior play. But I look at my homes, and I just see tackles getting worked. And then he's trying to make the most of it. And, you know, you can say, I'll post Thai Re-kill. They haven't had that deep shot threat. They've tried with different personnel decisions. And I don't think anybody's necessarily really established themselves. But, you know, I was looking at his, his birthday again, again, 31 of September. I'm like, so do you, like I am not of the opinion that the beginning of my homes statistically is a fluke and that we're just never going to get back there again, even if three straight years with some of these numbers feel like, well, wait a minute. That's not really that Superman shit that we're used to. And then being completely destroyed by Philadelphia is like the last big stage moment that we have. Which is, which is something that's not supposed to happen. You know, it's like, hey, you can lose the playoff game. But we don't expect that to happen. And like even the Tampa Bay Super Bowl loss, again, it was the outside guys like my homes running for his life going a car. An entire offensive game plan is destroyed here. And I don't, I don't like leave that game against Tampa going. Oh, this guy isn't all that. And by the way, look at the teams that are favored now. What they can do. The Rams, the Seahawks. If you're going to, if you're the chief, you're going to get back there. Let's say they had a great year and got us a Super Bowl. Are they going to deal with those guys, those teams defensive fronts really well, whereas my home's going to be on his back six times. I think it's the latter. Yeah. That would be the argument that Alan should and will overtake him because my homes can't keep scrambling around like he did last year, and we saw, like, when I'd watch him last year, I couldn't believe he wasn't getting hurt earlier in the season. Yeah. Agreed. It doesn't get better as you get older, you know? No. Sorry. It's going to leave him at some point. That part is going to decline. Okay. So with Alan, I guess I'm being positive in how I looked at this, but then I'm focusing on the negative because he had two tier two votes, which again, I know you have coaches. It feels like the coaches can be really tough on the guys. Is that generally the history of this exercise? Somewhat. I mean, the coaches, yes, in general, the personnel guys are going to be more traits-based. It's the interesting thing. Like, the coaches were way higher in air and Rogers than personnel guys are. They like all the little things that brought him to do, even though he can't get out of his own way with his legs. So they love a guy who, I think that's why DAC moved up to, frankly. I think DAC is kind of what quarterbacks used to be. Not that he's a great quarterback, but he's very good, running the show. The guy knows what's going on, everything out there. I think that can appeal to coaches, whereas, you know, a personnel guy is going to be like on Rogers. He's going to be like, "The guy can't move. I'm scared to death. We don't have another guy." I'm not going to make it into the season. And by the way, he's going to go, you know, on macapé and say some things. My owner is going to be looking at me sideways. You know, I just think that I think there's a divide in how they see some of these guys. Who do you think teams would rather have the next five years, Mahomes, or Alan? That's such a great question. I think it's close. I mean, they probably would still go Mahomes, but I don't know what I would do for the next five years. What would you do? I wouldn't even entertain the question 12 months ago. And I think I'd still take Mahomes because I feel like his command of everything. I just don't think that that's going to, like, not happen again. So I guess I would still take Mahomes, but I can't believe I'm even like having to think about it. And the other thing about Josh Allen is, you know, he really does run in a different way. You know, and I think that that will slow down for him too at a certain time. I don't, is it in the next five years it could be? I mean, we saw Cam Newton hit a wall, you know? And he's as impressed as physically as any quarterback you'll ever see. You know, amazing. When you, on the field with Cam Newton, you're like, that is a different guy. And he got to a point where it just wasn't there. His arm was banged up and you couldn't do it quickly, you know, he's, is Josh Allen going to be great at 3940? We'll see. Okay. So the Allen part that I do get defensive for Allen on is the playoff stuff. And there's a quote that you have in there. I think it's from a coach where it's like, Hey, you know, he'll win you one and he'll lose you one. That fumble in that territory against Denver, like he's got to stop doing that. And I read that and go, stop doing that as if that's what he's doing all the time. And this is the part of the Allen conversation that drives me fucking crazy is you go, okay, so let's go through all the playoff losses. He's got four to Kansas City where they probably like three of them are at Kansas City. So you're expected to win. The average points allowed in those four games is 35 points per game. You want to dig them for the Cincinnati playoff loss? Go ahead. But over his career, his completion percentage goes up. His touchdown percentage goes up. His QB rating goes up. His interception percentage goes down by half. He is a better player in the playoffs. And when he has these bad moments in that Denver game, it's sold to us as the continuation of the Allen playoff failure. When in fact, there's still far more good. If not great, then there is bad and yet people can't stop doing this. I'm totally I'm get well, he did happen. They're sloppy. Sure. The last game did happen. But I'm with you. People ask me like, why are they asked you about tier one and why isn't Lamar Jackson getting the benefit of that in the tier one? I think the durability of tier one hinges largely on how you perform in the playoffs and then you're passing. Not just your running, but your passing. And I think Josh down in the playoffs, I just dialed this up now since I put it, I think since 2019, 29 touchdown six interceptions in the playoffs. Like Lamar's eight touchdown six interceptions. There's a little bit of a difference, right? One of the good package, they'll get packaged the same way sometimes. Like I've seen the TV shows go like, I think how come we get on Lamar, but we don't get it. Are you serious? Like do we need to do this? Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. And even when I have, when I have the play, I'll just do it since I think 19 will cover us, but if I do it here since 2018, just to be safe, Stafford, Mahomes, and Josh Allen are all way above average in their EPA for pass play, like really good burrows above average and Lamar's below average, you know? So to me, that's why Allen should not have a reputation as being a playoff choke artist. I do think though that he could be better in certain situations at protection of the football and just regulating it. It's a hard thing to do when you're, you know, when you're that dynamic because you want to kind of go for it too, but I do think he, I do think it's an area he could probably help himself a little bit. And then obviously them as a coaching staff blew the 13 second game. So, you know, a lot of things are different with some things helping him as well. Stafford at 38, I love seeing him into your one, makes sense, and considering we're like, hey, how long, like how many seasons have we gone in going like, I don't know if his back is going to hold up. This was another one, then he wins MVP. And I think the best thing in the explanation of it and certainly watching is that they very knows you can kind of do whatever he wants with them, like they can change things, they can game plan, they can change personnel. And there's never any like, hey, we can't, we can't trust our guy to do this. Like Stafford seems to pick it up immediately. He's frustrating for the defense because he can beat your pressure, you know, when the pressure is in his face, he may make it the great play, the great decision. He's very hard to fool, and I think Macvay's done a great job the last couple of years. Some of this is with the 13 personnel, but just regulating how much you're going to just peer drop back past. I think he fell in love with that with Stafford, his ability to really just sling it and be from the gun and throw it around was refreshing for him after a goff, who's good, but not on the same level. And I think he's just kind of rigged it nicely now to where making it, somebody is here for Stafford, but he can still do the highest degree of difficulty when you need it. Borough is the only other tier one quarterback, so for this, he had 46 of 50 votes in the first tier. Is there though a bit of a reputation thing here, keeping him higher than you expected? I mean, a little bit. I'm surprised he wouldn't lose some more on the durability component, you know, he missed five games last year. I do think the 2024 season is the greatest argument for tier one, not only for him, but also the Marjacks, and two guys had really bad defenses, I mean, really bad, and had their teams in it, in the Mars case, won a lot of the games, and in Borough's case, he did everything he could, you know, I mean, he has, I think I put this in there. He has a 10-5 record in games where he scored 30 or more points, and that's like the, you think, well, 10-5 is good, no, it's the worst record of any of the regular quarterbacks, because he scored 30 or more, you're going to win 90 percent, not Borough. So people love his ability as a passer, and I think this, where he's at, shows you, tier one definition, carries his team every week, yep, that's the Mar, yep, that's Borough. Expertly handles peer pass situations, that's Borough more than the Mar in the Isle of People in the League, and doesn't really have a hole in his game. That's Borough than the Mar, according to People in the League, even to the Mars at multiple time MVP, who is going to have a great Hall of Fame case, in my opinion. That's where Lamar enters the conversation. The top of tier two, so that's 22 first place votes, 28 tier two votes for him, and it felt like a lot of it had to do with the decline in rushing, and that it's not just, I mean, if you look at the Yards, they fall off a cliff from last year, this year. It's also four less games, but it almost felt like this vote was a result of projecting based on the lack of run game from him in 25. Yeah, like if he had had a Joe Borough passing season in the absence of the rushing, I think he would still be in tier one, and really, let's be honest, we need to four people to vote him into tier one, and he would have made it. But he's still his totals in tier one or way down from last year, I think at 46 votes in tier one last year. There's a big shift on that, and I think he didn't look like he wanted the run, and I don't think he did. I think he was banged up. I think we're also seeing more times with him where, when he does run, he doesn't just automatically make a dynamic play. Somebody tackles him in the open field. There was a game last year against Cleveland, early in the game. He's down right away, and you can see the frustration sometimes, right? I mean, he's almost like wants to throw the ball down. That shouldn't be happening to Superman. So, you know, where's this headed? I don't know, obviously, people aren't, not enough people are betting on it being tier one. Herbert, sixth, explain the divide among personnel, people, and coaches, because this seems to be significant. - Yeah, this is a case where in typically, the personnel people are going to like traits more. And so you love the traits with Justin Herbert. He's really everything you would want just about in a quarterback. I do think coaches get a little, you know, coaches are like, you know, it should translate more into the way that he plays. And so the way I phrase it with him is at what point do reasons become excuses for a player, right? There's reasons why he hasn't won more in the playoffs or they haven't had the team success or even sometimes that he hasn't had a great season statistically and there are good reasons a lot of cases. You lose, you're often just built on your line with two tackles and you lose them. You know, or the weaponry that he's had, or you're with an organization that's had both rivers and Justin Herbert for 20 plus years and hasn't won the division since 2009. There's all these other things that you could kind of point to if you want to. But at a certain point, people are wanna see the result and it looks like to me, the coaches wanna see him before the personnel guys in this case. Historically, who do you think has had the better read on quarterbacks in 13 years of doing this? Like who's better at it? Coaches are personnel people. - That's a great question. I would probably, if I had to trust one, I would probably lean towards the personnel and then make my own adjustment space on what their biases can be. Because I feel like coaches can give you more detail and more specific reasons, but they're also going to probably fall into a little bit of how easy would this guy to be to coach or is he a great fit with what I wanna do, right? And so when the job of coaching, I think the best coaches do this is, hey, this is what I've got. How do I make the most of it, right? But when the coaches talk about what they really would like to have, it's not always what they have as much. That makes sense to you. They can be a little bit more finicky, especially as you get down to like the, I'm talking, I guess largely about offensive coaches. Say, offensive coaches are, their votes can say as much about them as they do the quarterbacks more so than others. I think defensive coaches are different from offensive coaches in terms of who's harder to defend is a little bit of a different question. - Yeah, no, that doesn't make sense. But I seem to, when I read the quotes every year, I feel like I'm constantly disagreeing with the coaches and I'm usually agreeing with the person LP. - Yeah. - And I think Herbert's the epitome of that. Now look, Herbert's resume is, it's tough to defend at this point. Like I get it, somebody goes like, hey, if he's the guy and we don't have any playoff wins here, like what are we doing? I thought they were a mess last year. Again, they can't keep their offensive line healthy. I think that impacted his play and I would be happy. Like if he were a free agent tomorrow, there's probably 27 teams. It would be like, okay, like can we figure this out and make it happen? - Absolutely. Y'all know about my love for raising canes and getting to know Todd Graves, the OG of Bat Rouge where somebody was like, hey, that guy just paid for your dinner. I'm like, well, what? How? They're like, he's just chicken finger guy. I'm like, all right, but he doesn't have to do that. Now I gladly welcome him paying for anything. Raising canes chicken fingers, one love. Let's see here, deck, seventh. I think seventh is a good number for deck. I think that's probably on the higher side for him. I think the tier three vote is laughable. Even if you don't like deck, you can't have him in tier three. Even if there's some of the criticisms that I'll go, okay, like I understand because statistically the profile tells you this guy's like a tier one. I don't think any of us necessarily feel that way, but no, tier three, I was like, come on man, that felt like a defensive coach. - I thought it was an offensive coach. - Was it? - I think so. - Yeah, I think I quoted him in there, I believe. Yeah, and you talk to 50 people, you're gonna get, sure, you're gonna get some outlier opinions. There's some people that I'll tell you this, there's another person in this that voted on me too, who a few years ago thought he was a three, a few years ago. And he actually texted me when he was doing his ballot. He's like, the guy was most impressed with, that I've changed the most on his deck. I just think he's really, he's really good, you know? And he did move up. He got almost as many tier one votes this year. It was like 12 or 13 as he got in his whole career before, and I didn't really understand that. Did he do something totally new last year? But I do think in an era when the quarterbacks are younger and younger, and paint by numbers offense, I think there's some respect for the guys who are in command of the show and run it, and look like a pro quarterback. And I think Dak does that. Also, does it help him that he didn't lead his team to the playoffs last year and lose in the first round? With a bad team, does it help him? There's distance between him and his last playoff loss? Because that's always been like, he chose to play off. But he hasn't in a long time. It absolutely has everything. I mean, it's like the Jalen Hertz conversation. Like once we get to him, you're gonna go, "Oh, this is a bit of the correction on like, "I guess we have to, because this guy just won the Super Bowl, "we have to put him up here." When I don't know that anybody really thought that Jalen Hertz was a top 10 quarterback. And if we traded those two quarterbacks right now, the betting lines would change a lot. And people would think the Eagles are gonna be better and the Cowboys are not as good, right? Yeah, I'd rather have Dak with the Eagles than Hertz, even with the resume that Hertz has had. I don't even think that that should be a discussion. To finish out the rest of the top 10, golf ties with Dak, so that's eight and then Jordan Love at 10. The Jordan Love stuff was really interesting because it's kinda like, it felt like people were going back and watching the tape and they were like, "God damn, is this guy good." But I didn't think I would like him this much. It just felt like a lot of the stuff that keeps him in this conversation where, I mean, if you wanna get on Herbert's resume, you could do the same thing with Love. Except Love had the big playoff winning against Dallas, which helped him. Well, sure, yeah, I mean, I guess it's not zeros, but I, you know, go ahead. Yeah, so it didn't feel almost like some of the support was kind of like, "Greging like, "Hey, this guy's been productive for a few years. "I watch him and wonder how sometimes the guy forces "the ball, pushes it down the field." And I think that shouldn't be working. Some of the stuff he does and it worked. It's worked enough that like, I gotta tip my cap to him. I think that was one of the comments in there. So he's somebody who, like, I feel like if they, Stroud is a little bit this way too, but way more exaggerated is like, his offensive line was probably the thing that was talking about Love. You know, if that were to be improved this year, I think would help him a lot. I think that was probably one of their weaknesses. And so I don't know if it's gonna improve this year, but if it does, I think he could move up again. - Do you think because of the access and more information to voters who've gotten smart on this, like Burrow is still up there because of the offensive EPA, the last three seasons was 29. So you go like, "Hey, you guys can think that Burrow "in health, he should take more of a ding." But like, that's three years of one of the worst defenses in the league. I think there's some DAC stuff around him where this starts to feel like why I would always argue about Stafford with Detroit is you're going, it's hard to find a lease or a less supported quarterback run game defense special teams than the combination of what Stafford had around him in Detroit. And I think there's some arguments, again, for Burrow, and certainly somebody like DAC, when you go, "Hey, what's he supposed to do?" He's supposed to run in a lead offense. They've been in a lead offense now for multiple years there with him. - So yeah, I actually think, I'm gonna flip that around. I think that the coaches and the people in the league have been cognizant out of the years. I think the fans are getting smarter about it. And I think it's helping us, 'cause when I started doing quarterback tears, let's say 2014, it was around the time of, is Joe Flacco elite, remember that? - Yeah, yeah. - No one in the league would be saying, with all due respect to Joe Flacco, good quarterback who played a lead in the Super Bowl run. I mean, he's a good quarterback. But no one in the league would be saying he was a lead for the most part. But that was actually a debate in media at the time. So I do think that the public has gotten, more of the public has gotten smarter about what really matters and seeing the nuance in those things. - Okay, a year later, we did the Caleb Williams conversation. And as a Caleb Williams guy, it shook me. It was shook for days. It was really, really negative. - Yeah. - And now he's sitting here firmly in tier two as the 11th best quarterback. What was the conversation like this year? Especially with the people that really felt like they were beating up on him, kind of the person as much as the player. - Well, last year, I think there was a great quote last year. This guy is either gonna be a two or a four real quick. And the implication was it depended how he responded to a really difficult first year. And some tough coaching he was gonna get with Ben Johnson. And I would say he responded pretty well. It was a really good reassuring season. People did like Caleb Williams coming out. Nobody thought he was. wasn't the number one pick in the draft. The first season was a negative one all the way around. And there were a lot of, I believe a lot of coaches on that staff or people that were there, fed into, there was a super negative article that came out, not with the athletic, nothing to do with me, but came out for the last season, basically questioning everything about his approach. So maybe that was a little heavy-handed with Caleb Williams and talent definitely came to the fore this year. I still am not 100% sure how he held the ball even longer per play and didn't take sacks nearly as much. That's a hard thing to do, but he did it. Wasn't like he was throwing the ball away all the time as complete percentage didn't fall off the charts. So I think people do feel now like he saved it. And we'll see if the consistency can be there to go into tier one, the talent is definitely there to do it. When you are that much of a magician running around though, you're gonna have less consistency in your game for better. A lot of the time and sometimes for worse. So 36 tier two votes, 14 tier three. Look, I gotta just follow up a little bit more on it. Of the people that were so negative on him going into this last year, was there anyone that was like, hey, I like the talent, but I was wrong about him or this surprised me because I think the last images we have, even with the playoff lost to the Rams, but specifically like that package game, you realize like, hey, his ability right now can carry, I'm not saying he's those tier one guys yet. Yeah, but there was a lot on him to solve a lot of their problems that I thought in the playoffs. Ryan, let me look at that because in what's top of my head, you know, we've talked to that many people, the panel changes some, I off top of my head, I would have to look and see who said what last year and come back to it. That's probably a good thing for me to do. That's a great thing for me to do. I'll look at that, I like that because there's no doubt that first year left, you know, read a lot of people the wrong way and raise some amplified some questions about him. So, you know, that's a great exercise. I just don't have that at the top of my head. Yeah, and look, there's still, when you look at some of the advanced stuff with him, you're right because the length of time he's holding out of the football, which is really about his scrambling. It's not, you know, that number's been packaged is probably one of the most misleading numbers you can see on a television broadcast. Like, well, he's had plenty of time to throw. It's like, well, some of these people that doesn't mean anything. He ran around for 12 seconds, that raised it by 12, you know. It might mean his protection is terrible. I think with Caleb in his first year, it was very predictable of young quarterbacks. It's like as soon as the first read isn't there, as soon as I'm feeling any kind of pressure, like, hey, in college, I could just run away from everybody the entire time. Like this is what I'm comfortable doing. Young dual threat quarterbacks love to do that stuff. You almost have to coach them out of it. But there's always like a bad throw percentage thing with him that's high. It's higher for him than the elites. Not to say that there isn't somebody, but like, you know, Alan at his best is like a 13% bad throw percentage. My home is like a 13, even though I think he ticked up to like 18 this past year. And Caleb's been north of 20, I think, both seasons where if you track that stuff, you're like, okay, well, that number has to get into the teens here somewhere. And I would think he would, based on his talent and what we saw that jump from year one to year two. Yes, to me for him to get into tier one, it's some more automatic stuff in the flow of the offense, right, balancing that out and just getting better within that. I think he did get better this last year. It probably helped him to have coach with a lot of juicing credibility to get his attention. I think that, you know, you could make the case that there weren't guys who could do that with him last year. And Ben Johnson did it and helped both of them. And if he can get, if he can do more consistency within the framework of an offense, it's very well-schemed, I think that could help him and still have this spectacular play when he needed the playoffs, the play against the Rams that we'll never forget, you know, that's still gonna be there, but you, the coaches oftentimes don't like a bunch of unpredictability. The offense of coaches don't love a bunch of unpredictability when they're trying to call a game. And so be a little bit more predictable. Do you think more people would rather have Drake May than Caleb? - I don't know about that. I don't know about that. I feel like Caleb Williams' talent ceiling is higher. His highs could be higher and Drake May maybe is, I don't wanna say safer, but just a little more stable. Now Drake May's sac rate is very high and stayed high the two years. So we'll see what the future holds for him, but I don't think people would be overwhelmed when they Drake May. I think I could even see Caleb Williams having more interest. - Yeah, I mean, to run through it again for anybody that's playing along here. My home's Alan 1, 2, Stafford 3, Burl 4, then Tier 2 or Lamar Herbert deck. And then Drake May was tied with Gough at eighth, and that's what led us into Jordan Love. I'm gonna talk about Caleb here at 11 the entire time. So I kind of jumped over Drake a little bit here. I think the good thing for Drake is that he is someone that now feels like the personnel should be even better this year. Like this was away ahead of schedule, Super Bowl appearance. The roster is completely overhauled. And when you overhaul that many roster members, you normally were not looking at that roster saying like, hey, that's one of the five best rosters in the NFL. Nobody would say that about the Patriots, even after they played in the Super Bowl. And bringing an AJ Brown and like after this year with May, you'd have to think that it just has to get better 'cause it's kind of remarkable. He had an MVP caliber season considering the lack of investment on his side of the ball. - Yeah, I thought Aid was pretty optimistic on him when you've considered how bad it ended. You know, he was obviously, I think it was hurt in the Super Bowl and even before that. And so it was a, went out with a thud really and still got eighth, I thought that was pretty strong for him. - All right, who do you think is more respected, Brock Perty or Baker Mayfield? 'Cause they're right next to each other, correct? - Yeah, they're right next to each other. That's a tough question. I think Baker is respected for different things. I think he's respected for kind of his journey and the way that he plays with swagger and fearlessness and the way teammates seem to rally around him. He's even being kind of fearless in this thing with the bucks where he's going public and kind of being salty about it. I think he's respected for that. Whereas Perty is more respected for his efficiency, just his, probably his consistency. But they're always gonna stay with him in that system. That in that system thing, I was always a part of it with him because of Kyle Shanahan. So I don't think, I think it's just a different kind of respect. - This is a good answer. 'Cause that's kind of what I took from it. You could argue that May is at eighth based on the overreaction, just participating in a Super Bowl, maybe the way that we had with Hurts last year. But I was kind of proud of the panel on the Donald vote. - Yeah. - No tier one votes. You would have thought somebody was gonna do it after what he's done the last couple of years they win a Super Bowl. But maybe back to the better understanding of the support around him is that Donald's had incredible defensive support as you expect with this whole thing. Anybody that has negative defense, especially to go in that kind of run, like there's going to be games where you're going to have to actually be the guy. And Donald has those as well. So it's not like, hey, we're throwing through 120 yards and never want you to throw it past the line of scrimmage. He's had huge games that show off his talent. I was, I was proud of the panel on this one. Not that I necessarily even think that he should land here, but that has top 10 written all over it in other years coming off the season he just did. - I totally agree. I think it's, now, I did go back and look, when he was in this poll twice as a jet and he was in tier three both times. And we sort of think of that as this horrible time which didn't end well and then it got that worse for him. But I think this is a perfect place for him 'cause tier two is carry his team sometimes. Not every week, like in tier one. Handles the peer pass, both teams know we have to pass handles it in doses. Has a whole or two in this game. That is him 'cause it's not like anybody right now off of last season goes, hey, I think Seattle should just saddle up and run their team and offense through him, right? We're not doing that, but in the championship game against the Rams, when he had to do it, he did it. He can do it. You just don't wanna ask him to do it every week. And that's fine. You can win the Super Bowl if you have a good enough team in that context. Perfect for me, mid to lower part of tier two. That leads us to the end of tier two where Jaylen Hurtz sits as 17th ranked quarterback in this piece. So ninth last year, and the Hurtz is like a really tough bar conversation, right? He's just sitting there and you're going like, "Ah, I think he's average," you know? And then you go, "How do you say he's average?" But I think Hurtz, he should, again, he's putting saying that like Dak can't win you a Super Bowl, Hurtz proof of concept to me proves that Dak could also win you a Super Bowl. And look, we've had, it doesn't mean you'd prefer to have the lesser quarterback, but, you know, that Jaylen I think opens up the conversation for some of these other guys that people get real definitive on where I'm like, that's a really tough final summary on somebody to see go, "This guy can never win a Super Bowl when Jaylen Hurtz is played in two of them." It was him, I think he's in a great spot. I'm kind of glad he didn't, you know, he's right at the bottom of tier two. I'm glad he's in. out in tier 3 because it would just amplify this even more, but he, I feel like he could be in tier 3 a year from now. You know, you don't feel like it's turning in the right direction. If you're, I think he's a great one to play the game with how many teams trade their quarterback for him. It's fewer than you would think for somebody with his pedigree. And then Eagles fans, how do you feel if they did a top of the market deal with them right now? And they were really cash, cap, committed to him, harder for the next three years. I don't know if that would be the best move that people would want to see the make. And that probably answers your question about where he's at. Is there anything else that we need to discuss on this? Because whenever I feel like I'm being honest about it, I feel like I'm being negative when that's not what you're supposed to do with somebody with his resume. But like sometimes I think like this. I feel like it's been three years of mostly negative, given his due, gregally conversations around him, even with the voters. There's no one who goes, oh, yeah, I mean, this guy does X, Y, and Z so well. You don't hear that about him. And I always say sometimes the voters, you know, the votes say as much about the voters. But it's just something about, I think the quarterbacks too. And, you know, it's probably why he is where he is. I wonder how it's going to look without having to go ball guys on both sides of the field too. Yeah. Yeah. No one thinks that Jay and Hertz is going to go out there and slice and dice you with a bunch of intermediates throws and, and, you know, making use of the five eligible in that way, you know. So as his career goes along, he's not going to get, not that he's a huge scramble now, but his legs aren't going to get better over time. Just he have enough as a passer to be a later career successful starter on a team that isn't just absolutely loaded. Tier three, Bonyx at the top. He had one tier one vote says more about the voters in my opinion. Sometimes there are, I see this sometimes with like offensive coaches. Sometimes they'll be like an octave higher on everybody. And I think it's because they think if they got this guy, they could do great with them. And so you'll have occasionally you do 50 people. You're going to have somebody that has seven quarterbacks in tier one and one of them you weren't sure on, you know, and you're going to have someone else who has two in tier one. And that's how Josh Allen has, you know, a tier two vote. So grain assault on it. I don't think, I don't even think that guy thinks that Bonyx is the same as my home. Sorry. Well, no, I don't, you know, you could still put tier ones on guys. It doesn't mean that you think he's, he's necessarily my home. I would say as somebody that doesn't have huge expectations on Bonyx, I think he had a lot of really great moments last season. And so maybe something to build on. So I feel a little bit better about him. But I think him landing at like 18. I go, how many other people in front of him? Do you really want to argue that he's better than right now? Yeah. I think it's a very reasonable range for him to be in despite like the look. If they have been healthy at home with him playing, like who knows? This guy might be coming off a super bowl bump in the tier rankings. Yeah. That's why I love doing the 50 people. It kind of evens out in the guy. For the most part, if I did five guys, those were the five that did put him in tier two. Then you're like, wait, I'm an easy tier two. You got to talk to enough people to get it to settle out. And I feel it's perfect. Okay, two more quick ones. Rodgers with a tier one vote and a tier four vote. How often does that happen? Very rarely. It's happened. Usually when there's a huge question about injuries, like, like, Dishon Watson, maybe got a one enough for when he was, you know, coming off, not just the injuries, but obviously the, the civil lawsuits and all that people didn't know really what to expect from him. You know, Rodgers is the, by far the biggest divide of any one where the coaches are hiring them in the, in the personal guys, it's the biggest divide. Did the tier one voter not pay his television bill the last two year? Tier one voter is a prominent person who's highly regarded. And I think just, I think it's a respect vote. I wonder too. Sometimes if he's like, I should look, is that guy playing in this year? And he's like, I don't want to, no, no, no, no, I'm not jinxed. He's going to light us up that one week. But there's no way. To me, that's just, you talked for TV. You're going to get somebody who I got to give him a one. He's Aaron Rodgers respect the hell out of him. CJ's fall. Seems significant. 37 tier three votes. He had 13 tier three votes combined the previous two years, the league on CJ Stroud going into this year. So he debuted because I don't have rookies in. So after his rookie season, he debuted in tears at number eight. And then it wasn't as good the next year, but he still only slipped to nine. And then I think fell to 20 now. So two years in a row now of him struggling behind admittedly shaky offensive line, not seeming to be able to handle that well and seeming to be on the verge of developing some bad habits, maybe from the pressure that he's found leaves him in a situation where I think he could climb back up, but they've really got to have that offensive line settled for him. Maybe he has too much on his plate, otherwise. And in this new offense, not new, but second year that traditionally asks more of the quarterback compared to the one they had before, which was sort of the, you know, the shenanigans offense, which can be easier for the quarterback, series out. Last thing, tier four feels boring and void of hope. Yeah. Yeah. So let me just let me pull it up here to look at it. Yeah. When I went through tier three, looking for anyone who would go to tier one next year and didn't really see anybody, I do think that Tyler Schuck at the end of that is the one to circle, the end of tier three, because the people that played him, there's not that many people that played him. So if you didn't play him in sandals, calling you on this, you give him off tier four, none of that info. But he got four, four votes in tier two already, 21 and tier three for playing half of a season. People like him. So just circle him as somebody that, like, wouldn't surprise me if he was a top guy from that draft class next year. Tier four, you're right. Willis, tough situation. Gina Smith will probably be better than he was last year, but still, Sean Watson, seen that movie, penix, not looking good, J. W. Bersett, end of the line. And then J. J. McCarthy and Shadour combined for 22 tier five votes. There's not even a tier five. If you go to the athletic, there's no one in tier five. So some of the guys that, over the years, helped me come up with the tiers were like, why do you even have a tier five? You shouldn't have it. And I said, the reason I have it is because I want to know, I want to differentiate from tier four, which can be not enough info. Or I think you're a solid tier five is meaning a vote in tier five means I don't think you can play. And so J. J. McCarthy got 10 of those already. And Shadour Sanders got 12. That's very unusual for young players. Usually you'd be like, hey, the jury's out. We give them a four. Like the jury came back in like record time, which is never good for the defendant. Well done. Imagine 70 millimeter somewhere here in LA, back when it was done Kirk, because I remember I went with Bushman to interstellar. It was like a date to go to Columbus Circle, I think, and we were just like, hey, and it's only running for this many days. And then we have to go. And then I think I ended up going to done Kirk by myself to fully get the 70 millimeter experience. Well, Odyssey kind of spurred that conversation. They put like a map of all the 70 millimeter iMacs and it's like, you can count them on your fingers and toes and like eight of them are endless. I think our closest one is Danbury funny enough, but I didn't go to Danbury to watch it. There is one at Danbury. I thought it was New York City. I don't know. That's what people around here are saying. But you know, that could just be an urban myth. Danbury is like, you know, big. I'm going to be honest. Can we look that up? I had to write it and tell you how badly you handled giving advice to the man, especially Sorority, basically, Sorority is getting worked up with the thought of a sister dating someone that she is no way related to. Welcome to the world for all of us who have sisters. They often end up dating someone. And if that's someone isn't related to them, you generally just have to be cool with it. It's very strange. A sorority felt so against this as someone with multiple brother-in-laws, all I could hope for is a brother-in-law is that they're nice, fun to talk to and no sports. The brother-in-law and the life advice segment should be thrilled that the prospect of having a friend as a potential brother-in-law or even just a sister dating somebody actually enjoys hanging out with the family functions. I don't know. I mean, again, we've read this. The dumbest thing I've ever heard. What are you talking about? At least if you're going to critique me and I'm not saying that I'm 100% right, yeah, I have two sisters. This isn't like, hey, they can never date someone. It's your dating. This would be like if they dated my wife's brother. That's not the same as just dating a dude because I had to be like, well, they just date people. It's not your decision to choose. I'm not saying they can't do it. I'm just saying I find it a little bit weird. Your stance wasn't that weird or a rounded date for a friend. Our guys should be encouraging this relationship for his own sake. This is not weird in any way. Again, they're not actually blood-related in any way. Welcome to the world where your sister sometimes has a boyfriend. Again, maybe I'm just, this could be totally my fault and I came off as arguing. I'm not arguing that it's because they're related. That's not what I'm saying. I know they're not related. It just fucks up. It could fuck up family dynamics. It's weird. It's strange. I find. I don't think that anyone would be like, I'm wrong because they're clearly worse than people who are very vocal to me that they would be super pumped about this. So I'm happy for you. I would find it a little bit strange and I think, and I said the thing to you, Ryan, about like, oh, what are you going to get married, which is a dumb thing for me to say. I shouldn't have said that because that's not even how I feel. You shouldn't have to go into this relationship thinking you're going to get married. I get that. But my point was that if there's no end game and there's this bad breakup, then Christmas is for the rest of your life can be kind of weird. Somebody's not coming over or just making the in-laws are kind of awkward about stuff. You are putting your-- That can happen though, kind of, with any dynamic. Not some random guy as the other email or one of them. Yeah, but the random guy could also, like, I get your point on that, but if the standard is I want to protect fully functioning, Christmas is moving forward, like they could also be derailed for other reasons that have to do with-- Okay, but we're not arguing about other reasons, like I don't-- I don't-- I don't-- I can't-- While more of the email or-- Yeah. No, you don't feel bad. That sounds like a bad faith argument email, but I think he's taking it to an extreme that Surrey was not exactly-- like, he's assuming that a lot. Like, Surrey wasn't saying your sister can't date anybody. Oh, I think this is incestuous, yeah. Yeah. But I mean, I would say you're protective-- you're protective mail in your family tree. I was-- I got work-- I think I got more worked up because I wasn't able to quite articulate my argument that I wanted to. I wasn't mad about the guy's scenario. I have a two-year-old, a five-month-old, and my wife is a physician assistant, women's health surgery. Surgery day, she has to leave by 6 a.m. sharp. No real wiggle room with that. Very similar to the life of radio host. Thank you, prisoner of the clock, if you know what I mean. We do, I wake up at 4.30, get my run and then go lift, cardio before the gym, huh? Wow, this guy's after it. So no criticism whatsoever. This time, there was a Husky on the road, and I turned into the gym, and the dog had tags. It looked housebroken. Just a beautiful dog. I stopped rolled my window down and said, "Go home, girl," then I kept it moving and did a good job. - Do your part. Am I a horrible person for not locating the pups home and dropping it off, or should I just keep leaving the dog, listen to me, and went home after telling it to, please advise. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago, and I saw someone else pulling off, and I just got to turn my blinker off from where I was going. I was gonna do it, and then I was like, all right, it's got this handle. So, my book is okay. I'm a neighbor's dog. - I'm a neighbor's dog. - Our neighbor's dog likes to, like, once every couple of months, just kind of wander. They have a electrical fence, but I think, you know, she chases stuff out and whatever. And the first time we didn't know, the first time we saw the dog around, we'd like texted them, we were like, "Hey, your dog is missing." And like, "Oh yeah, it's not a big deal." She just kind of does that every couple of months, and you'll learn to figure that out. So, maybe that's the situation. Maybe the dog was just, you know, on this escapade, making moves, and you'll be fine. If it was easy to stop and pick it up, and I wasn't had to do something, I feel like, "Okay, yeah, you probably should." But if you have stuff to do the rest of the day, I don't know. - You can mention a bunch of your way out of this, if you wanted to. - Yeah. And I think he emotionally was like, "I said something, so I'm good." And if you could live with that, then I think you're fine. - Yeah, I'm not super proud of it. I'm sure a two-party situation would have been better to corral that fella, but I saw one, and I'm like, "All right, this is handled." But that, again, that's me just bending reality to my will. So, yeah, if you want to feel bad about it, you could certainly could. And if you want to not think about it, you could certainly do that too. - I don't think you should feel bad. Maybe some people think it's on you. I mean, there's a pretty good chance the dog is gonna find its way home, even without your verbal direction. There's also, like you've ever seen a dog catcher in action. I remember the first time I saw it. I was like, "Easy job ever." And guy like pulled up, was like, "Hey, girl, open the door." The dog jumped right in. Some milkbone in there, and let's go. And the cartoons, I was like, "This seems far more of a hostile transaction with the dog catcher than a reality." But I'm sure there's somebody who is a dog catcher, is gonna be like, "Hey, it's not always that easy." And I would agree with you. Yeah, just the first time I ever saw it happen, when I was a lot younger, I went, "Man, that was easy." I don't know, I've never seen one. Maybe the first time I saw that big in the old HV, I don't know. I saw it, it's gone. I had a friend who found a dog and kept it. I think it was pretty lonely. Yeah, with tags, pretty fucked up. - That sucks. - Yeah. - Just kidnapped the dog. And he told me, and I went, "Huh." And I was like, "Do you want me to tell you that's cool?" 'Cause I'm not going to. And then. - Was it like a rare dog? Was it, what kind of dog was it? - I think it was a rariler, a rare dog. - Well, yeah, like, I don't know. - Yeah. - That's great. - Like a pure bread. - What am I supposed to say? - Some of it paid for this. Yeah. So I think he said, he's like, "I emailed whatever." And I didn't hear. I was like, "How active were you in pursuing like a return of this dog?" It seems like you really wanted the dog. It reminded him maybe if a dog we'd had in college. And then I went to visit him and I'm like, "Oh, you got a dog?" He's like, "Well." And then he told me the whole story. I just kind of looked at him. And that's where I was just like, I can't. I know I'm excited to stay and visit with you for a few days, but I'm going to be honest with you, that can't do my stamp on this one, man. Sorry. This one seems sort of fucked up. And then he did follow up with me months later, or I guess he was walking it. And then somebody was like, "Hey, I think that's my dog." And then he'd had new tags on it. And it was like, I had to come clean. And he goes, they kind of didn't care. So I felt better. So I went, "Okay, there you go, full circle." So now he called me. So you could play that off. Like, had I tried and then I just, you know, the dog was great and I adopted it and here you go. And I'm sure they wouldn't ask too many questions. They're like, "Oh, really? That's so funny, because I went to the pound. It's off, anybody found one." They said, "Nobody filed a report. It's interesting." Yeah. Any evidence that you made a phone call? Yeah. I'm getting married in a handful of months in February and my groom's been her mostly comprised of long time childhood friends. My best man is planning a pretty elaborate bachelor party where we're flying to Florida for a handful of days. For context, we live in the Midwest. So Florida in the winter is going to be pretty nice. It's gonna be thick. My fiance, however, likes to keep to herself and doesn't have a huge friend group. She'd rather stay in the weekends than go out with coworkers or friends. It doesn't like to be on her phones. It just doesn't call her text anyone either, which has caused those relationships to slowly drift away. Because of this, her maid of honor is a childhood friend. She doesn't get to see very often. We've only seen her once in the three years. We've been together who lives a few states away. The rest of her bridal party is made up of resistors or co-workers she may as become closer with. Because of all of that, I don't think she's going to have a bachelor party. The maid of honor is also in the middle of law school and doesn't really have any relationship or a connection with the rest of the bridal party. Should I feel bad until my buddy to do something more low-key because of this? Quick answer, no. I do feel guilty and hate the idea of going off to have a great time with my friends while she never gets to have that experience or self-thoughts. Do we combine parties? Jesus, dude, never. Do I reach out to her maid of honor or is that weird? I've asked her in the past, if she's doing a party and she says she has no idea, it's up to her, which makes me assume no sense, no plans have ever been mentioned with the wedding fairly close. Kyle? - I think this is a very specific type of person. If you let it become an albatross, am I using that correctly? If you let it become a thing that hinders what you're going to do for the rest of your life because she's not somebody who either enjoys or wants to maintain those type of relationships, that's going to be a bummer for you. I don't know if, I don't think it's super weird if you're just like, hey, he's getting married, right? Yeah, so I don't think it would be super weird to reach out to her maid of honor best friend and just ask if there's any plans. Ask what it is, but if that would make you feel better about going, but I don't think you should hinder this. In a perfect world, this is a one shot deal. You do this one time, so you should have a fun time. And it's a matter of perspective. Sometimes her fun time doesn't look like what yours looks like. Maybe it's just a dinner, I don't know. So I don't think it's crazy to reach out, try to get some intel, even if you don't want to do it directly. I don't know how you do it in a roundabout way, but I definitely wouldn't change the plans because I think her version of it could be way tone down that might not even show up on your radar or something that would be fun. So I would just try to get a little intel to see if they're actually going to do anything that counts. There's no right way to do this. I definitely wouldn't change the plans either. Yes, Kassad, this is like an awesome thing with your buddies that guys just don't get to do a ton. In general, after this, you could say the golf trip thing happens, but it doesn't happen eventually. And years go by and it's like, hey, we should do that trip and you just kind of never do. So this is the one time that you could do that. I don't think she feels guilty about it. She lives, she has lived her life the way that she has got to this point. She's getting married so good for her and you've lived your life at this point where you've got these friends that you want to do this thing with. I don't know, is there a way to make something special for her though, like, you know, either the lead up or after, if she's not going to have one, like is there something that you can do with family? I don't know. I'm just spitballing. I don't have like a great answer to it. But did it make her feel special but make her not feel left out? 'Cause I'm sure it's probably going to be thinking about it. It's obviously going to be in her mind. But I think, I don't know. This is, I don't want to say it's like a right-of-passage thing. But I think you deserve the huge trip to Florida. You know, like, I don't think you should take that away from you and your buddies who, you know, it's something that just happens. And I feel like she doesn't want to do one or she feels weird about it. Like, I kind of think this is just something that you do. - This is a compliment to the emailer, but clearly, like, you're a very compassionate person. Maybe even a selfless lover. And what I would say is, like, you are so worried about her feelings that you're willing to sacrifice something that you're looking forward to. You knew absolutely 100% want to do. All of your friends want to do in a series point. Like, it just starts to happen. You don't get to do any of this stuff anymore, all right? And if it's a priority, like, you have to make sure do this stuff. Like guys should be trying to figure out a way to do more stuff and guys suck at planning and you make a million excuses. Kids get involved half your friends are gonna have kids and be determined to never do anything fun ever again when it's just like I see too many parents where I'm like these parents decided to continue to still do fun things and these parents decided to kind of like sign up for a life where they're like I don't want to call it a jail sentence but it's it's it's weird it's kind of like your buddy like buddy the first guy in your group that wants to be old. You know, and that guy tries to revelry sacrifice. Yeah. Yeah. Hey man. We're just old. It's like you're fucking 28. Shut up. Yeah. Like sorry. Your knee hurt this week but yeah. The young guy talking about pain is is really annoying. Like the young guy be like oh my back and you're just like I do like you're not you're not dead yet. Like relax. So there are there are parents whether it was younger parents or you know older parents now where I think it all again kind of gets into like this subconscious selfishness that I think that we can have where it's like that person actually wants to shut it down. That person doesn't want to go on trips. They don't want to be and that's fine. I mean I'm not even criticizing it but your wife or soon to be wife clearly it's not a a guilt thing. She doesn't like to do stuff. Okay. I mean she's not even texting anybody anymore. Then she's not a very social person and that's totally fine. You lover you want a barrier and maybe because you're even thinking about her is what made you such an an ideal partner because she knows how much you care. So like that all the important stuff sounds like it's really really good but because she because the cool part about this is you can actually have some different personalities between the husband and wife because she doesn't care about any of this stuff and it's not a male or female thing. It doesn't mean that you then also have to not care about any of these things to sort of follow her pattern and that part makes me think like is there any chance that you're not just caring and not just selfless and that maybe sometimes you're a bit of a pushover. So dude late 20s Florida from the Midwest everybody wants to do it. You clearly want to do it. You having some sort of guilt trip because your wife has decided at the same age that none of this shit matters to me which good for her. It's not even a criticism. She's not prioritizing any of that stuff because she isn't doesn't mean that you need to start figuring out a way to. Yeah. If you got a weird conscious about it, know this. Your weekends are probably going to slow down after the wedding. You're probably going to do those plenty of boring shit. Plenty of nothing. I had a view. Yeah. It's kind of like the inverse. Uh, guy came up to me club in Vegas. Once in sore, I was Tom Cruise, a lady at a fried catfish counter in Baton Rouge, thought I was Matthew McConaughey, Lincoln lawyer version. Huge height disparity there. By the way, that's crazy. That's not even believable. This is not even mo, those are two totally different looking people. McConaughey pushing six foot, right? I will say there's some guys that look like famous people just the way they dress, you know, but there's those are just, I mean, I guess Luke Wilson and Tom Cruise, I can kind of, but the kind of hay one is just a total wild car. He just had this look down and then the nannies worked like, is he a famous actor? But possibly ruin those with binge drinking and ecstasy and college years and beyond. I look like I'm 40 or slightly less personal life is fucking awesome. Hot wife great marriage. Two smart beautiful young girls. I'm all good with 50. But holy shit, since the calendar turned to 2026, I think I'm having a mid life career crisis. I spent the last 19 years in corporate banking, make great money. You can't retire yet. Extremely autonomous. You can manage my schedule to be at all my kids stuff. I've had fun and enjoyed the work until now. I've been a top performer of my roles for a long time. But I can, well, I can seem to think is what a crock of shit this all is. Like I've literally turned into Troy, Dyer, Ethan Hawk from reality bites. There's no point to any of this. Wow. You are thinking about stuff. My guy says he's about to open a bakery or something. Yeah. It's going to be equal beans, coffee shop. All right. I'm not excited. Peer, that's the sentence. I'm not excited. Not doing anything to benefit the greater good. All that shit couldn't be more cynical right now. Maybe the world is delusioned. We went through a bunch of reorgs and I got moved from a team that I loved and my boss was like, oh, how I respect it. I moved to a well respected team and make more money now. But the team dynamic is definitely worse. So maybe I'm a bit off from the change, which normally wouldn't bother me. That could be part of it. I've thought about other ways to make money careers that move to and for every single one, I'm just like, that would suck too. Or I would have to completely start over and not get paid shit. It's hard to look past all the perks of my existing situation, paid benefits, autonomy, etc. It feels like I'm trapped. Any other situation be worse seemingly. If you held the gun to my head and said, well, what the fuck do you want to do, idiot? I'd say coach basketball. I've been coaching my kids correctly games for the past five years and all caps love it. Basketball is my first love. Can't get enough of it. It grew up under really tremendous coaches. I didn't play in college, two bad ankle injuries before my senior year, but took every basketball elective don't laugh. I'm not laughing. I'm taking you entirely seriously. There was any elective there was, including advanced theory of teaching basketball under a Hall of Famer with multiple maddies. I took coaching baseball. It comes pretty natural. It's fun. I can make solid contribution to the kids. My son plays in travel org, and I almost want to apply for a job there, but this is where myself and you guys are like, well, good luck with that, and good luck getting paid, and good luck being free to do whatever you want. Do most people love their jobs? I hear people work at work at all, jazzed up and excited. I just want to be like, get a fucking life dude. How can I shut all this down and refocus to just zombie my way through the last phase of my career? How can I ignore this shit? Is that unhealthy? Should I meditate every morning? Breathe in, you love your job, breathe out, you love your job. Well, you can't do that because you know, you don't love your job. You all have cool jobs. You probably can't relate much to love for your thoughts. Well, I can relate to the thought process 'cause that's what I told myself prior to venturing out to pursue the careers that I wanted to pursue was that I just know, I knew there was no way. I'm like, there's absolutely no way you will be a healthy, happy person. I knew I would be fucking miserable if I took a normal corporate job. Although once I started learning more about DC stuff, I was like, maybe that would have been better. Yeah, maybe I'll just be a top dog. That'd be cool. Yeah. I just feel like, hey, I'd like to run your hedge funds, sir. Says here, lifeguard training in seven years of French. Sold. I don't know. Are you guys too young to start to go, is this it? 'Cause I think the thing that I've learned is whatever your thing is for the most of us. And even me, despite people looking at it being like, oh my God, what a great job, or whatever. Like this is kind of it. This is kind of it. And I think in a lot of times, and I know I do, maybe not everybody, but I think our email address is like we make up all of these scenarios of like pure raging happiness that are probably a little inaccurate and fanciful. Hey, how many of you go? So he's like, I'm giving him my two weeks. No, no, I think I've always looked at this job. Like, I don't know that I'm gonna be doing this when I'm 50. And I don't know what is after this, like-- Are you a shit, man? Yeah, and I think about that a lot. You know, I obviously thought about that in the move that we made, and just different things. I've got two young daughters, and I've got what, at least 20 plus years of working life. We left in me more than that, likely. I don't know, I think about it all the time. I like where I'm at now, it's cool. I'm happy, I think. Although I don't love the way the industry has gone in some ways, but Brian, I've talked about it. I mean, I don't know, it's like, hey, list this. Everyone's kind of doing the same thing. And it's like not as, I guess, fulfilling as maybe it was when I first started, or when the industry was a little bit different. Kevin Durant said the Sixers are just as good as the Warriors. And it's like, OK, here we go. We got two days of shows, and you just go, is that what we used to do? Because I don't remember that that's what we did. Yes, I think it kind of was, but just for some reason, it felt more fun back then. It wasn't so, like, everything is so-- To be fair, it's almost a time for ex-girlfriend quarterback comps, and that should probably light a fire right now. I'm ready. I'm ready for it. I've been ready. I know. I stopped doing it. That guy from the Wall Street Journal's be like, 2019, and we're still doing this, really? Yeah, man. I don't know. Yeah, it was funny. I don't know. People seem to like it, yeah. So T.H. is the guy's question. Yeah, I've definitely thought about it. It has to be a strange feeling. I don't think-- I'm not where he is right now, but he's-- I mean, he's 50. He doesn't have that much time left. That's, I guess, what would be my point is-- Dude, great. Is he? Yeah. Well, I'm saying he's got-- he has that much time working left. How soon could you retire? Are the things you want to do? Do you want to own a boat? Do you want to have a beach house somewhere? Is there something that you can fixate on as a goal in the next five to 10 years that you can channel all of this un-fifilled energy into? Because your job is your job. Most of my friends have jobs that they do, and then they just have stuff on the side that they want to do. And there's just a balance in that and how much fun could I have without, while making the most money and filling the safest I can, and at least moving upward in a decent way. For you, do you have 15 years left? Like, do you retire around 60? Is there something that you can do to look forward to? Your kids are going to be graduating likely from school. So I think you just have to channel that energy. Your job is likely never going to change at this point. I mean, it could. You could take a grand leap and change everything about your life. And it can be great or it can be miserable. And that's a huge risk that you could potentially take. I wouldn't do that at your point in life, but it just feels like you need to channel your energy to something different. Have something to look forward to do something on the side, while still keeping what seems to be a pretty good and lucrative job for you. - Yeah, this shouldn't come as like a shock to either of you, but I'm more of a work to live guy than a live to work guy. So I think that's maybe a perspective you should try and think. And the other thing that it's rattling out of my brain is this guy said he did 19 years of feeling good to at least better than indifferent about something. Like this isn't something that like, you're get like when we hear some guy who just got out of college and he's starting in this thing and he's like, this is so sucking. And I hate this. That's the guy where like, well, fuck a cup bait and like figure it out. This is not the same. I feel like you are in a bit of a bummer phase. So that's why I don't think like the big pivot at this point. It's like, it's probably more of a state of mind than like actually what the job is. It's like he's giving all these bullet points. You're like, well, I had a sick manager. He's gone. You have a great team now it's bad. It's like you're in control of maybe changing the vibe on your team if you're like one of the senior people. Like you could put some energy there. Maybe even a different firm if you're like, you know, if you're a guy who is hot shit and could go somewhere else like, I think there's smaller incremental changes whether it's like the situation you already have or looking at a different one. I think you're just in it. You're a little bit bummed out right now. This could all be a matter of perspective. I think if you spend a little bit more time, what are you working for? You're working for this awesome family that you have and maybe some cool hobbies that you don't quite have yet. Try pickle balls, sweep in the nation, dude. I don't know. I think there's a lot of shit you could try. So I feel like this is entirely normal and it's almost predictable. I wouldn't even think of it as like a midlife crisis. Like I kind of like looking at stuff as like, well, what else could I do or what else? Like is there any seeds that can be planted to, you know, even if they don't grow, right? Are there any things that I can like things that I can do where I'm like, okay, maybe this is a pivot or maybe this is something like that. But I mean, really this comes down to something really simple. Like you have this family. You've probably made really good money. I don't know, obviously based on the email, what your financial situation is, but like how important is money to you? My guess would be that you can see you're in the corporate banking world that at some point you wanted money. And for somebody like me who didn't grow up with it, who didn't have it for a really long time, like it became pretty important to me the rest of the way. So you can sit there and make moves and do different stuff. And then you go like, okay, well, now that I've done this, this means I have to make this much money moving forward. And I'm fine with that. Some people look at it, like somebody else might say, like, wow, that's a lot of responsibility. Like I don't want the man to keep me down. It's like, all right, well, cool. Enjoy your fucking van, dude. You know, like I don't, and we're not too many vans, too. Yeah, so I don't, like if you're happy with all that, I admire that you're happy with that. This is what I wanted to do. What you're probably doing right now is a very predictable thing of like, hey, I, it's just gonna be over. And then this is going to be it. What I would push you to do, and I don't know that it's a year off because then I would say how talented are you, how great is your network that you could take a year off, really test yourself and then go, you know what was kind of nice every two weeks get a nice big check and not having to worry about sending my kids to college and all this different shit, right? You could, you could try that hard experiment and then you'd have your answer. It's like when I tell young people to move and be like, always move because that way, if you come home, you'll appreciate home better if you went somewhere else. This is opposed to always wondering. So maybe there's some parallels there. But I have to think that there's some way to scratch the basketball itch that allows you to still have the nine to five, man. - Help out your town team, right. - There's gotta be some non-travel thing or you just go to your, you're like, how important are you to this company? Like what is your status there? Do you have enough juice to go in and say, hey, here's the deal. I grew up, I got hurt. I had 15 points in a quarter once in a nice school. I'm fucking, I'm hot as can be. Everybody thinks I look like celebrities. And based on just the looks bias we have in the world, maybe you're so hot, they're gonna let you do whatever you want at the company. You say, you've got me, I'm totally invested, but for me, in some sort of like reset at 50 years old, I have to have some basketball outlet. I need this. And I would imagine if it's another guy, especially an older guy that's overseeing you, whether you have a great relationship or it's just surface level, he might completely understand. He may have gone, he likely has had these thoughts. So there may be some way where they can accommodate you as you're getting your work done. And it doesn't have to just be like, you know, this completely different person because you're feeling some shit right now. Feeling stuff, which I think a lot of people feel because it's normal, because you kind of go through life and you're like, I thought there was gonna be like, all this other stuff and you're like, well, there is, but there a lot of it's just kind of getting through it every day.
