Hello beautiful friends and welcome back to the health made podcast. I'm Georgie, your host, and my mission is to be your guide on an incredible journey toward health, healing and happiness. This podcast is for anyone seeking to understand true holistic well-being, while exploring the realms of the mind, body and soul. Join me as I delve into insights that have not only helped me through my own personal challenges, but have also benefited the thousands of women I've had the privilege of working with. From overcoming negative body image, struggling with self-worth and self-sabotaging behaviours, to navigating heartbreaks, life is an introvert and undergoing a spiritual transformation. If there is anything you can take from these episodes, I hope it's a realization that you can live an abundance of filling life that feels authentic to you, and you are never alone on this journey of self-discovery. I'm so grateful that you're tuning in. Let's jump into the episode. Hello, hello and welcome to episode one. This feels very weird. I never thought I would be doing this and if you are someone that knows me, you will either be screaming at me, be like, "Gee, what the fuck are you doing?" Or you will be jumping for joy because you will know that this is a huge step out of my comfort zone. But if I don't do this now, then I never will. So I'm completely winging this. I probably should have been a bit more prepared, but if I overthink things, I talk myself out of doing them. So I'm seizing this moment of courage and we are rolling with it. So I guess the best thing for me to do today in this episode is introduce myself, give you a little bit of an overview on what you can expect from the episodes and maybe why I am starting the podcast now. I have always wanted to do something like YouTube, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist and the amount of time that would go into editing, and I know I would just waste my entire day picking a font. So the fact that I can do a podcast seems a little bit more manageable. I think with the work that I do, which is health coaching, by the way, I know how individual and unique everyone is and I really struggle on Instagram when I want to put some information out there. I always think it requires a lot of context because one piece of advice can be incredibly helpful for someone, but kind of detrimental to someone else. And so I spend hours trying to write a caveat or a disclaimer and then I don't put the information out there because I've just used up all my mental energy. So a podcast for me allows me to add context, add experiences and help you guys maybe understand a different perspective and a different point of view. I want the conversations on here to be relatable, but I do also know that my approach doesn't appeal to everyone. And so there will probably be some episodes that aren't relatable at all, but my goal with this is not to have the largest amount of following and for it to go viral. I think I'm at a stage in my life where I want my message to be heard by the right people. And that might be far and few, but I want this to be the information that I had had when I was younger or earlier on in my self-development journey, my health journey, everything that I've been through because, you know, everyone goes through all sorts of things throughout their life. I wish that I'd had kind of conversations like the ones that I'm hoping to bring to this podcast when I was very much going through that. So I'm not coming from a place of claiming to know everything. I am very much still trying to fix myself, heal myself, and if you are in the self-development and self-discovery world, you will know that you never achieve like a full state of feeling fixed. So there will be things that I fuck up on and probably say some really silly ignorant things, but please know it comes from a place of good intention and I want to educate myself while I educate you. So I will be bringing on guests and maybe even a few clients who I think have had incredibly inspirational journeys. And if I can be an example of how while you might be struggling with something right now, there is light at the end of the tunnel. And if you can just feel, like I say in the intro, if you can feel less alone with something that you're going through because you know someone has also had the same experience, then I would love for this podcast to be that. I do want to show a more vulnerable raw side to my life. I'm a very, very open person, but I think I spent a lot of my life feeling quite misunderstood. And so I felt like I needed to keep these things to myself. And whenever I have shared these things with friends and family, I've always felt more of a connection to them and it's always been an incredibly nourishing conversation or experience. And I think showing vulnerability and rawness can only bring you good things. A lot of the conversations are going to be around holistic health. And if I give you a little bit of my background, you can kind of get a better understanding of what I mean by holistic health. So I started out as a personal trainer. Well, before that, I worked in an office job and decided that the 9 to 5 was not for me. So I went into personal training. And in the art of being vulnerable, I will share my reason, which actually I don't think I've ever shared, I don't know if I've ever shared this with anyone. So I'm literally throwing myself in at the deep end. But I got into personal training because I was really struggling with my weight and my body image. And I think deep down, I thought if I have a job that helps people lose weight, then it will be more of a reason for me to stay in shape. And if I'm moving lots throughout the day and teaching people how to exercise, it will help me shrink my body. And it feels so sad to say that now. But I'm also incredibly grateful for it because it's led me to where I am now. And actually, I will say that it wasn't a totally selfish decision. I think because I had struggled with it so much, I knew what it felt like to have this terrible relationship to my body. And so a huge reason for doing it was to also help people that might be feeling the same. And obviously, back then, I held the belief that if you didn't like your body, if you changed it from the outside, you would then learn to love it. And I've now been on this huge transformation of understanding it is all internal. It's all perception and how we perceive our body from the thoughts and beliefs that we hold in our mind. It is not just a physical thing, but I will get into that again in probably an episode in itself. So I did personal training from 2015 right up until about two years ago. And throughout that, I sort of took the business online, did some more certifications in things like nutrition. And then about 18 months ago, I decided to sign up to a holistic health coaching course. And honestly, it was the most transformational sort of education piece that I have done in my entire life. It was the catalyst to me understanding what it means to be truly healthy. And up until the point of doing that course, I had all my knowledge was around the physical body and what it meant to be physically healthy. So how we how we move our body and how we nourish ourselves with food. And I have, I will say, I have struggled, maybe not struggled with my mental health, my whole life, but it's something that I've been incredibly aware of, let's say, for as long as I can remember, I've always been, you know, a deep thinker and as a child, I remember just being really, really curious about the world. And I never had really made the connection on how it can affect your overall health. So starting the health coaching course just accentuated to me the importance of the mind, the body and the soul or spirit if we want to call it that when it comes to living a truly healthy life. And all of the learnings that I took from that around the mental side of stuff have now led me into sort of my next certification which is around somatic healing which will be an episode in itself as I go on on that journey of understanding exactly what it is. I will share it with you. But that is all about the mind, body connection and how experiences are sort of trapped and held and emotions are trapped and held in the body. So that is kind of where my coaching is going now. I work with one-to-one clients at the moment. I have had group coaching in the past. But like I said, it's one of the most fulfilling, nourishing jobs. I truly feel like it's my purpose and my calling. And it's something I hope to continue to do for the rest of my life. So let's go on to who I am. That is, I suppose, the big question and I will let you know when I figure that out. No, there's a few things that I do want to share kind of in keeping with the theme of the podcast. I am a huge introvert and what introversion means to me has absolutely changed so much throughout the last few years. And probably something I only really faced head on during lockdown when I probably felt the most calm and peaceful within myself when I was on my own and knowing that there was no pressure to go out and do all of these things and show up in a certain way. It was incredibly comforting, but I will say I almost went down a bit too much of a rabbit hole with it because I got to a stage where I really let it define me and I let it dictate what I was doing and the way that I was acting. And since then, I've come to realise that it is something that should be used to help you understand who you are and why you act the way that you do and maybe like preferences in terms of how much you socialise and how many friends you have and who your friends are, but it's not something that I want anyone to ever feel shamed of or it is hindering them in any way because once I learned to accept it and almost use it to my advantage, it became an absolute superpower which is why if anyone who does know me quite closely will probably just be sending me the biggest hug for doing this podcast right now because it is absolutely stepping out of my comfort zone but I do feel very much ready to do this. I'm also very open-minded so as I said at the start, the conversations that I want to have with people, I want them to offer different perspectives to any of my lovely listeners and so I really love understanding why people hold the beliefs that they do and that's probably something that you can expect to hear about in future episodes. As I've said before, I'm a really really deep thinker. I do think that maybe a downside to my personality is that I do like to isolate myself so if something isn't feeling perfect or I'm struggling with something, I tend to self-soothe alone which has been a huge hindrance to running an online business and having to put yourself out there to market yourself and I would say I'm a really good place with it now and if anyone out there is listening is also kind of resonating with what I'm saying and feeling the same. Hopefully my experience of this and my learnings from this will help you understand yourself a little bit better and kind of give you a few steps for you to take in order to comfortably but also slightly uncomfortably put yourself out there into the world in a way that feels authentic. Like I said, I think the vulnerability and the rawness of what will be spoken about will come from a place of authenticity and it's something that has just brought me so much sort of peace with myself and yeah there's probably a lot more I could say about who I am as a person but it feels incredibly self-indulgent so I will leave that for future conversations. So in terms of what you can expect from this podcast, as I've mentioned there'll be solo episodes but I want to bring an element of educational content, supportive content and maybe even some funny stories. As an introvert I think I have had I think I've had a bit of a sheltered life in terms of like my social stories and my social experiences but when I do share things about my life with friends and family they have told me that I should be writing a book because I think I've had quite a few maybe like acute situations in my life that are kind of mental and if I can bring a bit of humor to these episodes then at least it's not all about just the health and the healing which I guess actually does tie into it because if I've learned anything over the last few years it's how much nourishing your soul and doing things for joy and making the right kind of connections are a huge huge contributor to health. I have had a history of disordered eating, overtraining, multiple heart breaks and I guess this actually ties into why I've decided to start the podcast now because the last two months of my life have probably been the most challenging and I don't want to like make myself sound like a victim but I have been through a really really shit time but out of that I am learning so much about myself and the kind of person that I want to be and if I don't do these things now then I never will and I will end up just living a sort of consistent complacent life. I actually did some psychedelic therapy at the beginning of the year which I would love to share that story with you and it's probably something I'll do again so I can take you on the ride of what it's like to take some magic mushrooms obviously in a safe legal way. I did some psychedelic therapy and one of the biggest takeaways I had from my second session was that to experience the highs and moments of awe and true joy you have to go through these really sort of severe feelings of fear and I've kind of used that as a way to like navigate my life over the last year since doing it in terms of if something feels incredibly scary to me it's scary for a reason it's scary because it's forcing me to up level and challenge myself to grow and so there was so many other like learnings from it that again I will I will share with the world but I would say the insights from that therapy are a huge driver for kind of why I have started the podcast so hopefully you guys have a little bit of a better idea on what you can expect from the podcast what you can expect from me and if anyone out there is listening to this and there are specific things that you know if you know me from my social media or you are a client and there are specific topics that you want me to prioritize or share then please reach out to me on Instagram it's Georgie H. Harris two H's and let me know and if there are any guests that you would love to hear from or you'd be interested in me clubbing with anyone for an interview then again please let me know because I am open to hearing hearing anything I'll be honest I have no schedule for this I don't know how often I'm going to be doing episodes I am going traveling a little bit at the end of the year so I kind of want to take you with me on that and show you where I won't be showing you because I don't yet have the video version of a podcast but I will be sharing stories of where I am what I'm doing and I will obviously try and keep up with as many episodes as possible but I do almost feel like this is sort of going to be my own therapy so thank you for holding this safe space for me to just talk at you guys if you are still listening then thank you so much for tuning in for the whole episode I will figure out how to put this on Spotify and Apple so I would hugely appreciate it if you could subscribe and I will catch up with you guys in the next one
