And the one thing that I was a little concerned about was on Saturday, Clark had a training session and it didn't look like Ashley was tugged out. So is it that they're minding her? Is it that there's an injury concern there and that she wasn't at full tilt to be able to do a training session the week before a championship game? Yeah, I know she need to be. Yeah, she needs that full tilt. About a hamstring tear that she was injured before the game in turlis before the semi-final. She didn't want to get a scan because she didn't want to know the extent of the injury, which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. But you could see it was really heavily strapped. And afterwards, I think she got the scan and confirmed that it was a tear. She was speaking, she was doing media during the week and sounds like she's got every intention of playing. And with the year injury, she was had, she had a dislocated elbow, had surgery on it, just getting back to fitness and this happens. If there's anyone I would back to go out and play even half injured, it would be her. But in a game like that, that's going to be so physical. You'd wonder, like, will it be enough? But her experience alone on the field, even if she isn't as mobile as she usually is, I think, would be beneficial. Would they would they play her further forward? Maybe if she's not as if she's hampered by an injury. This is going to be our 11th. Her 11th final. This is incredible, by the way. Yeah, I still remember that score. She got under the stand in 2015 when she was captain. One of the best scores I've seen in Kroak Park made her female. And that's what 11 years ago, your right fill, like playing her further forward, they did that against water for it in the championship game. And it doesn't suit her to have her back to goal. She needs to actually be coming forward onto ball. So Gemma O'Connor played on one leg in an all-arlin final. I'm going to say 2016, maybe not 2016, maybe 2017. It can be done in Gemma and Ashley are caught from the same clout. So, yeah, it'll be a lot. It'll be a lot of work for her hamstring tears and nice legs. Yeah, the preseason, that's probably not many had either, Phil, we were talking about it earlier. But she's done, she's been in Belavia before, obviously, which anyone that's been to Belavia will talk about altitude to that. I'm sure any trip to Belavia and altitude training will stand here for a few years. I don't know when it wears off. I don't know if I'll ever get to Belavia, but it sounds like both an horrific experience and also something that can really be beneficial in later months or whatever. But you mentioned Gemma or Connor, she's obviously involved with the coaching setup. Yeah, she's back playing, Phil, with the bars as well this year. So, some going. Let's talk about Jere. I saw him speaking this week saying, he wondered what has he got himself into because the turnover in this squad since the final last year. Yeah, it's an interesting one. Probably here from Laura Tracy later on in the show as well, Phil. You might test this as well, so it was very similar to that in the 2014-15 season where you lost the likes of Anagiri, Angela Walsh, like pillars of the defence and it's something that we've seen in this new look, carcalf backling. It was much more evident earlier on in the year, especially in the league games. Not only did you have the retirements, but you also had a lot of injuries and people wouldn't have recognized half the names on the sheet. I think the way a car climbed it known in the semi-final, there was still a lot of household names on that piece of paper. And as well as that, you had the bounce of a lot of the under-20 tree carc team who won the Allerlan Final this year. It was almost a cabin copy of last year and Galway spoke about it. When they're under-20 trees when the Allerlan Final last year, it brought them so much energy, it brought them belief. You can see that happening for this car team as well, most notably, probably with the likes of Maeve Murphy, who stepped into Laura's boots at centre-back and Millie Candon. Getting that goal. The wish took that goal in Turlis. That wasn't a young inexperienced player. That was someone who's playing in amongst this county set up for a good couple of years. Yes, any team that would last the players that Carc of last over the years might have struggled, but like Sarah mentioned earlier, the way Jörr and Mathew Tumey before him as well have been slowly blooding a lot of the new players. It's not completely new territory for a demeanor. No, and their league campaign was awful. And some people say it's only the league, but they nearly, they went a bit too close in terms of relegation, something that could never happen court in. All right, good, go fresh. Yeah, look, it's not that I wasn't surprised. When you heard of all of that change, you said, look, something's got to give. And to be honest, I won't say, I won't say I was relieved, but I wasn't bothered by it. Because sometimes when a team loses that many players, you'd nearly rather see them go back to complete basics, rather than kind of half scuttle over a couple of victories, maybe just lose by a couple of points. And then you don't think anything's wrong. And then you come to championship and all of a sudden you're absolutely blown out of the water. So there was something oddly comforting in seeing them almost with relegation because it's acknowledging that right look, something's wrong here. We've lost all of these players. And it's going to take time because there's no way we're going to rebuild that quickly. Throw into the mix as well. That a lot of the same Fin Bears girls who are involved in the Allerlan final in January hadn't come back either. And there was always something more to look forward to. You those girls to come back, then you'd aim your corner to come back. You'd actually come back. So weirdly enough, I didn't find it too worrying Sarah, but maybe that's the pessimist in me as well. The one thing that I would say about how deeply they've gone into the squad to build their starting 15 is that they don't necessarily have the same bench depth as Galway. So you're talking about if it's the old Izzy Sheen you're talking about Millie Canden coming in there. They've been catapulted into starting 15 potentially one, two years ahead of time. If the older girls or if the Hanalluni hadn't gone to Australia, like what are the odds? You know what I mean? She's taking a completely different sport in a different country. Those new players have been bedded in a year or two early. Galway by comparison appear to have the likes of Shannon Carcran, the likes of Married Dylan, Quiver Kelly, Neve Neuland. I know there's a couple of them who will start, but that means that Neve Malin will be potentially coming on. Galway's bench depth. is better because they haven't had to go so far into their panel to build their 15-way carcass. And there's positives and negatives to that. It could be the makings of this car team and similar to the May off-off ballers, the likes of Daraburn, the likes of Kobe, these guys who were thrown in, new no different and then become this incredible team. I'd love for that to happen, but I feel like all the way 45 minutes on the clock on Sunday, look to their bench and they have more impact off the bench on Sunday. Sean, are you going to feature? Do we think? I'd be. I wouldn't be surprised if she featured at all. When we saw her tagging Oralika Alain last year in the final and Oralika's one, I think the biggest threat on that car team. If I was Germanly, my plan would be get the ball to Oralika Alain. That's my pre-point presentation, let's everybody take to the field. I just think she's absolute dynamite. And we saw it when Carc got the goal last year to equalize that. The way she came across to collect that ball, bang smack goal. It's one of the only times she got ball like that in the entire final. So I'd really hope to see her receive ball like that. But even if Sean does and play a part, and I wouldn't be surprised if she did, she's feeding that energy into the group just to have her in amongst their boat. Does a competitor like that come back just to be a squad number? I don't think so Sarah unless she's physically not there yet, which could also be the case. Look, I can see this go away full backline going toe to toe for 60 minutes. I think she's an insurance player at this point. She was also a lovely dummy to throw into the media this week because she's taken the heat off of the players who are trying to recover the likes of Derrola, the likes of Carrie Dolan, the likes of Iffordona who all came off in the semi-final with various injuries. Troll Sean into the mix there and it's been a very positive music for Galway, which hasn't allowed the media to ask questions of the actual injuries that are there at the minute. Yeah, just the people are listening, they're not aware of why. So she is back training within a few weeks, having her second kid. Four months. Yeah. Four months actually. Yeah. After probably two people listening on that's just ridiculous. Her second time doing this is that so she won last year after having her first baby and you could see it as a interviewer after in the winners hotel and she said there's no way it was never not going back. She credited the support she had at home between parents, grandparents and her husband, both. She's just, you know, she's a pure competitor, like a real sticky, full back, full back lane defenders, well, you can see she loves the competition. She loves it. So look, it is, it is a great new story. I've fair played to her, you know, for coming back so soon as well. I can only imagine the boost that that gave the dressing room as well in Galway. So when the ball throws in on Sunday at a quarter pass forward, do we just see a continuation of last year's final, which obviously went down to the wire you mentioned or the car runs gold and then, you know, that gets it all square. That's with 14 pairs as well. Cork are playing with them. Then Carrie Dolen sticks over the winning points, which is an unbelievable way to win a game, but absolutely got wrenching to lose one like that. Yeah, it'll be so interesting to see how Galway line up. I think for Clark, it's fairly, fairly sentenced on, which is a Sarah, we kind of know where to expect people unless there's a curve where we're going to be trolling now and someone like the likes of actually Thompson Careplay and there has to be a couple of rearrangements. I reckon I think the of Malam will start. I saw her show, she warmed up a lot. She hasn't featured since that first championship game. A Galway should have pretty nasty shoulder injury, but I think if she had been needed to play against Kirkeni in the semi final, she would have been brought on, but there was at no stage in that game to Galway look like they were going to lose it. She should have played her the year to her colleges at her level. So there's definitely going to be some kind of a surprise expected from the Galway team. So I think the first minute is just going to be spent oying up who's taken on who. How are we setting up here? Yeah. And Sarah, there's obviously a few injury doubts in the Galway camp. And we won't really know until the ball is thrown in because the thing you have to do in all Ireland final week is keep everything in camp. There's always a few rumors going around. You'll always get them. They wouldn't be in all Ireland final week without them. Yeah, I watched the Maroon and White podcast to see if I could get any insights there yesterday. They had done interviews with the players on the field and Derby Lhiggins did a full interview. Neve McPique did a full interview. No sign of the Ferdinand who so I was wondering, no sign of carry, but I expect them all to be playing on Sunday. I think I think for the 60 minutes that's in us. You're going to have your best players on the field. And the question is if Neve Malin starts who loses out because Neve, Neve, Neuland was excellent in the semi final score two points. Quiver Kelly was outstanding. Eila Shoreilly, Neve McPique, who does lose out in that scenario. And then from Quarks Point of view, knowing that a player of the caliber of Neve, Neuland or Quiver Kelly coming on, Atlantic Kelly, Maré Dylan, when you're tired and 10 minutes goes up on the clock or 10 minutes left and you see this player full of jets coming into to Marcia. That's when the pressure really comes on. So it's a win-win for Galway with Neve Malin being in contention. And with the players who were injured the last day, Bully Fitt, he has a full bench to choose from. And that would be very exciting for Gal. Just on the occasion itself, Kamogi president Brian Maloy was doing the rounds during the way trying to draw a big crowd for this. And so as it comes off the back of last weekend, where they were disappointed with the crowd for the football final, it's, you know, it's a lot of money. It's different where like I can remember years ago I used to work at the all-Irland 7. So every every like, but the weekend was built around it where if it was Kamogi final weekend, the 7s would be on the Saturday. And the final would be on the Sunday, but it was a lot easier to get a hotel and Dublin where you could make a complete weekend of it. Whereas that's not the case anymore. So I don't know how they can get the crowd that they want. And then I think of, am I four or against having three matches, whereas some people would have talked about the lack of a minor match in the men's, in the the football final and the hardening final where there was no minor match, just the one game. But I suppose everyone that's there that day is to see one team their own county, whereas on Sunday, you're going to have six different sets of supporters. If you're in for the first game, that's a long day. We love our sports, but if you're safe, you were bringing young kids. If you're at the first game, how do you keep them there until the main game at quarter past four? The brave of stuffing for chips on the way home. I think Phil was always used very, very slightly with us. We're like, oh, we'll get to the heart of the heart. We'll get to the heart of the heart and jockey soon. I promise. It's a tough one because I'd say if you asked absolutely any member of the junior, the intermediate panels, do they want to be played in Kropak? Of course, they absolutely do. And they deserved a day in Kropak as much as the senior girls. Is it worth looking at playing them in Kropak on a different day? I don't know. I think when it comes to this, it's what the players themselves would want. And if they've trained all year and they want to go for a triple header in Kropak, they should have us. Attendance ways. We did see a record attendance in Turlis for the semi-finals. Did a lot of that have to do to the fact that they were there. They taught that this might be the year to get rid of that semi-final curse and get a scalp off-carc. I think that was a huge draw for those semi-finals as well. Not to take away from the attendance figures, but it was a huge one. And Godway obviously had the footballers playing last weekend as well with that win. Will that impact it? I don't know, but these two teams do have a really good following. You saw it after the semi-finals as well. There was a pitch invasion from the car fans and there was a lot of them there. So I think Kamogi itself seems to be in a really good place and people are engaging with it a lot, especially coming up to this week. And anyone that would have watched the All-Land Final last year would have noticed the quality of it. So I think there isn't hope in the together tag at a far T-Towns. And I think that might be a bit out of reach, but to get one better than the 2020-23 final, I think could be a huge effort. Yeah, I played in the junior final in 2004, Lads. That's what, 22 years ago. And obviously played in the final in 2005 and 2006 with the seniors then. So had had both experiences over the years. And it genuinely doesn't matter if I was playing the game at seven o'clock in the morning or seven o'clock in the evening. I just wanted to be part of that big croak part day. So you're right Rachel for the players themselves. You know, the triple header is, you know, the bees knees. because we were in there from 10 o'clock and we didn't leave until 7 o'clock that evening. We had won as well, which obviously made us, we never didn't want to leave broke back that day because we had won so early in the day. But from a fan point of view, I think most likely scenario is that if you're playing in the 12 o'clock game or out of the 12 o'clock game, you stay on for the second game and you might not stay on for the third and vice versa. The two o'clock stays on for the four. The four o'clock comes in for the two. 30,000 is the target or more that with the 16s you're looking for kind of 5,000 people per county. That's a stretch for a county like Antrum. Is it a stretch for a county like Lish who are both in the intermediate game? I suppose when you kind of boil down the numbers 5,000 people coming from Galway, it's doable. 5,000 people from Garcus do it. So it's just about the other counties kind of getting that minimum 3 to 5,000 to try and get us as close to Turkey as we can. We played in 2006 under 21 Hurling game was played before our game. I think we hit over 25,000 and that was the marker until the 2023 Finley win Watford were in it. So that's the sweet spot every year kind of around the 25. And if we hit the 30 this year, happy days. Yeah, should mention it's Calvin and our man, the first game, 12 o'clock in the junior Premier Junior Final and then Lish Antrum too and then obviously the main event, Galway and Cork. In terms of this new format for the championship this year, how have you felt about it? I even enjoyed it. As a person from Cork, but with the job as a neutral as well, maybe last year you were looking at some games and before the ball was thrown in, you kind of knew that that might have been a little bit of a, it was going one way. Yeah. You know, whereas this year, it was a take your pick, take your pick of fixtures because a lot of these are going to be competitive. And I know there are tweaks that myself and Sarah Bolcher, the opinion of just maybe some of the scheduling of it as opposed to the structure, but I was happy. I was happy with how it went. I think it was, it benefited the teams in group two because they all got very competitive games and the likes of Claire and Kilkenny built momentum and it benefited the teams in group one because they all approached it properly. There was no shadow boxing. They put out from what you could see every week. They brought out strong teams and they went out to win and we got really good games there. The integrity of group one falls apart if coaches start to play dummy teams and is against bees, but this year it was a success. And I agree with you on that. The integrity of group one boils down to the fact that if I'm going out to play for a quark or go away, I'm trying to keep my jersey. So I can't see how players wouldn't go, you know, a hundred miles an hour in a championship that is three games long. The quark final is the next biggest game and it's just around the corner. I don't think you're ever going to see shadow boxing in group one from the players themselves involved because you can't dial it in. Otherwise, you won't be on the pitch the following week with the level of competition that's involved in that quark team, that quark team, waterford and a temporary this year. Just on the quark all a meeting in group one. Any relevance for something? No, I don't think so. Anyway, I think it was good for quark in this. It was really important for them to have a strong performance after the really poor league and the very poor defeat temporary in the monster championship. So to a quark point of view in terms of confidence, it was important for a couple of the younger players as well to have gotten a win over Galway in at and right. But from a Galway point of view, they didn't play well. It's the first time you would have heard them say they probably lacked a bit of fight, lacked a bit of character. They also weren't that full strength and I think that game is going to be very far from their minds. They didn't concede a goal either. So, you know, their marker from the last four championship games is that they haven't conceded a goal. So despite what quark threw at them that day, full backline was teaked off and that for them was probably enough in a game where they didn't play well. They didn't concede a goal against a full forward line that is absolutely lifting. Well, happens if they concede a goal. We know how crucial goals are in games, even just this into the Diableti sisters on this morning off the ball of breakfast talking about Galway's goal in the football final last week. And it just felt like a big moment. And if the Galway defense is breached, especially if there was an early goal where it puts that doubt. I don't think they panic. This Galway team, first of all, we haven't seen them at 100% yet this year because they haven't had to be at 100%. They beat Waterford and the league. They did not look impressive, but they still ground out the victory. Yeah. Yeah, they lost a quark in that opening room, but they haven't looked back since. And even against like any, they didn't look like they were at full tilt at all. Whereas, quark, we saw Sertia McCartan saying that they were like cageed animals when they went out to play a temporary. They couldn't wait to get out there. Are you reckon we'll see that energy from Galway on Sunday because it's their time to put out their strongest performance on the biggest stage and their cat way. They're going to tear into it. And they've been around the block these players. You've got the legs of Derivoli Higgins back there in the full back lane who captored that and ready to an all-erred and club final this year. That had gone to a replay, you know, played in the middle of January. They won panic. They've got leaders all over the field. So their ability to win games, even they haven't played well for 80% of the game, but they still keep you at two or three points is their biggest factor, I think. So it won't, it won't phase them if they can see the goal early on. Okay. I'm getting into the predictions process now. And I'm well aware of two people from Cork with me, but I'm going to ask to use the heads here, right, rather than the hearts. So we know Galway are the champions. Cork are trying to get the Otovi Cup back. So comes Sunday afternoon, maybe about 20 to 6. Who do you think is going to be lifting that cup? I'm not answering this at my head at all. I'm answering my heartfelt, sorry, I'm rejecting your request. I think it's going to be such a close game. I think it's going to be a cracker. It could be anyone could be a draw. It could be a draw. It could be a draw. Look based purely on heart and just the way they performed and turlis and the opening half, I think Cork could scrape this by a point to if I'm lucky. I think Cork and the Cork players in particular, Orla Calan, Maeve Calan, Sorsham McCartan, they owe this Galway team one and the players from Athens Roy who stole their dreams after a brilliant all Ireland club final and replay.
