ADULLAM CONFERENCE: The Wise Master Builder - Day 1 Evening Session - Pastor Ayo Ajani

This message addresses the fundamentals of ministry, arguing that many ministers today have lost sight of God's original design for ministry because of the pressure to "blow" or become prominent. The speaker insists that a genius is simply someone who has mastered the fundamentals, and that ministers who stay grounded in the basics are the ones who last. Five fundamentals are presented. First, God is the source of ministry, and this is expressed through a consistent personal prayer life, since prayer is itself ministry and the secret place is what Satan attacks most. Second, Christ and him crucified is the only foundation, so every minister must understand and clearly preach the gospel that saves souls, warning against growing churches filled with a mixed multitude who were never truly saved. Third, ministry requires labor: whatever is a discipline for believers becomes labor for ministers, structured around ministry to God, ministry to people, personal development, and organizational leadership. Fourth, ministers must honor their calling, recognizing they have something unique to offer and refusing to despise their own assignment while admiring others. Fifth, the object of ministry is people, and ministers are called to build men rather than their own ministries, raising believers with spiritual stature, character, and the ability to use God's word independently.

Speaker 1The fundamentals of ministry, when he says that we are co-laborers together with him, what is the mind of God concerning ministry? I personally believe that one of the biggest challenges we have today in the body of Christ, in Nigeria particularly, is that we have lost sight of the fundamentals. And what I mean by the fundamentals is this, what exactly is God's mind concerning ministry? Not what is societal expectation or what is your own expectation. You know, steadily we have come to the point where everybody wants to blow. And whatever it takes to blow, let me just blow. We have, I mean, whether we like it or not, that's where we have come to today. You know, in the things of God, I mean, in church ministry and all the rest, I mean, whatever it will take, let me just blow so that we have a name and all the rest. The question is, what is the mind of God concerning ministry? And this refers to just whether you're in pastoral ministry, field ministry, or whatever it is. What is the mind of God? So we start with the fundamentals, number one. And, you know, I think it was Kenneth Copeland who said it. He said, a genius is somebody who has simply mastered the fundamentals. All right. A genius is not necessarily somebody who has extra information that you don't have. No. He's mastered the fundamentals in such a way that the very same information that comes to you, he processes it differently. In essence, the fundamentals, I think it was somebody who was saying that, I'm trying to remember, was he a basketball or a table tennis guy? Yeah. Kobe Bryant, who, you know, I was watching that interview and he had gone somewhere. I think he had a couple of young guys that he was mentoring. He had gone to a camp and they were talking about, you know, they were talking about, you know, they were talking about things like that. And so one of the guys saw him, I think 5 a.m. in the morning, and he was doing the basics. I don't know basketball, but I don't play basketball. Whatever you call the basics, maybe bouncing and all the rest, not necessarily the big stuff. So the guy, some on some, you know, I'm encouraged to ask him that. Kobe, I thought that, you know, you are Kobe Bryant. So I'd expect that you'd be doing some of the, you know, I mean, those skills and all the rest. And Kobe said to him, he said, the genius, I mean, paraphrasing it, the genius on the pitch is the one who keeps mastering the fundamentals. And I personally believe that one of the reasons why people go far out in ministry, and it looks as though you're not fulfilling the things God has called you to fulfill, is that we lose sight very easily and very quickly of the fundamentals. It's the same thing with everything in the kingdom of God. Do you know that many of us are taught and trained so much on the subject of faith that we don't even know the fundamentals anymore? And Brother Copeland said, God spoke to him recently, some years back, and God said to him, he said, I don't want you to teach anything deep anymore. He said, just go back to the fundamentals, the ABCs of faith, at the risk of looking like you don't know anything else to say. But I found out that men who stay on the fundamentals are the ones who last. And you need some measure of discipline to stay on the fundamentals, whether as personal practice or as a teacher of the word. If you don't have that discipline, you start looking for deep breaths that are non-existent. The discipline to stay on the fundamentals, I would always put it this way. I hope you know that it's the rice you have been eating from the day you started eating rice that you are still eating till now. Now, we can be innovative about it and make it fried rice, jollof rice, curry rice, I mean, and Indian rice, whatever it is. But at the core of it is what? Rice. There is no innovation to change rice. It is what? Rice. The yam, you have been eating now, there's yamarita. But even in the name, there's yam inside the name. Do you get what I'm saying? So the point is this, is that anyone who is going to last and anyone who is going to be everything that God has called him to be, must be someone who never loses sight of the fundamentals, nor ever considers themselves too mature for the fundamentals. Are you following what I'm saying? Because the trap of maturity is that I don't need the fundamentals. But in the past, I've been doing it over and over again. Now, as ministers of the gospel, let's speak to the fundamentals of ministry as seen in 1 Corinthians chapter 3 verse 9. I told you that there's a lot the Lord put in my heart and God is my witness. I have sworn to the Lord that everything he has asked me to say, I will say. It's the decision I've made with the Lord. Do you understand what I'm saying? I mean, whatever Satan likes to do, it's his own business. I mean, it's his own business. Whatever he has asked me to say, I will what? Completely deliver to God's people. The first fundamental of ministry, most important fundamental, is that God is the source. All right? The source of ministry. That's the number one fundamental. We're going to look at five fundamentals of ministry. Number one fundamental is this. The source of ministry is God. Anything outside God and anything outside a complete and utter dependence on God, which is more often than not reflected by your prayer. Let me state that again. Anything outside a complete and utter dependence on God, which is more often than not reflected by the minister's personal prayer life, not the corporate prayer life of the church, the minister's personal prayer life, anything outside of it is not ministry. It says we are co-laborers together with God. What makes our labor worth it is that God is the one who called us. Is somebody following what I'm saying here? And so the number one fundamental of ministry is that God is the one who called us. And so the number one fundamental of ministry at the risk of sounding very basic is that the source of ministry is God. And that fellowship with the spirit of God through prayer primarily remains the most important discipline, most singular, most important action of a minister of the gospel, irrespective of the calling that we have, irrespective of the office that we stand in. That is singular, most important act, most important discipline, most important act of the ministry of God. And so the number one fundamental work of a minister of the gospel is not preaching, is not teaching, is not singing. It's not any of those things on the external that in fact, if you study through the scriptures, prayer does not aid ministry. Prayer is ministry. Let me say it again. That prayer does not just aid ministry, that prayer by itself, in and of itself is ministry. And you see, one of the things I've realized is the way things are structured in today's world, whether you like it or not, the first thing that goes out of the window as a minister of God, once you start engaging in ministry is your prayer life. A study was done in America now, and I mean, I know we will think that in Nigeria it will be better, or we are prayer warriors in Nigeria. It's not true. A study was done in America and they found out that out of 10 pastors, only nine of them, pardon me, only one of them, out of 10 pastors, only one of them had a consistent prayer life of one hour a day. For three months. That if you took a hundred pastors, 90 of them could not guarantee that they had a prayer life of one hour a day for three months. And I know it's easy for us here to say, you know, because we lead our corporate prayers, you know, in church, all of us now pray out, we're all on Mixler and YouTube every morning. Everybody's praying and leading every, and so we say, you know, we are praying an address. But the Bible tells us of the prayer life of Jesus. It says, when they found him, then they said, all men seek at thee. That means he had a prayer life aside everything he was doing with them. Did somebody get what I'm saying here? The fundamentals of ministry. Number one is this. It is not your skill. It is not the anointing that you seem to have. It is not your calling. It's not your office. Our priesthood is the real basis of ministry. No man has a ministry without engaging in the priesthood. In Mark chapter three and verse 14, the Bible tells us, it says that when Jesus ordained the 12 to be the 12, the Bible tells us the order in which, um, I mean, what he expected of them. It says he ordained them, which means he called them, he anointed them. And then the first thing the Bible says is that they might be with him. There were three things there. Number one, that they might be with him. Number two, that they might go out and preach. And then number three, that they might have power over devils and diseases and all of the rest. But I want you to see the first thing. What's the number one? That they might be with him. Is somebody getting what I'm saying here? Which means a call to ministry is first and foremost, a call to fellowship. And the extent to which we remain faithful to fellowship is what determines, I mean, let me, let me qualify this. It's not, it's not, it doesn't mean you won't build anything, but it's what determines if what you build will be aligned with God's plan for your life. And so the first thing about ministry I must keep at the back of our minds is what? God is the source. Nothing is more attacked in ministry and as a minister than your priesthood. Nothing. Satan's primary attack in the life of a minister is his priesthood. The secret place of prayer. That's his primary attack. It is easy for us to continue with a lot of revelatory stuff on the external and there is no engine room of prayer. are happening behind the scenes. Did somebody get what I'm saying? I think it was the, I'm not sure. I think it was John Wesley. Now, you may call this legalism, but he said, you are not permitted, this was in those days, you are not permitted to be ordained as a pastor in the ministry, save that you pray three hours a day and you fast at least once a week. The qualification. Now, you can call that legalism, but I call it understanding the basis of ministry. That no man is useful with his skill if he's not a man of prayer. That no man is useful, no matter how skillful the person is, no matter how gifted the person may seem, the usefulness of a man, of a minister, of a ministry gift is completely tied to his personal prayer life, not corporate, but personal prayer life. Is somebody still with me? Satan attacks first and foremost the priesthood of the minister. Now, the genius of prayer, which means what we really get in prayer is inspiration and revelation. Please stop right there and look at me here. The genius of prayer is first what? Inspiration and revelation. It's not our needs being met. The primary thing that God communicates to us in prayer is inspiration, and by inspiration, I mean his ideas, his thoughts. Are you getting what I'm saying here? Now, but because we live in a world of prayer, we live in a social media age, you will agree with me that the dependence on prayer to get ideas is at the lowest level. I hope you know that when Daddy Joe in the 80s and Bishop Wedeko and all of them were doing ministry, I hope you know, except that they saw each other, they didn't even know what they were doing. So it's not as though they could compare notes or anything. Now, here's what happens. The average person receives their inspiration from social media. Social media, without even knowing it. You see, because if you have to be dependent on prayer to generate ideas, if you have to be dependent on prayer to receive direction, inspiration, on what next to do, let me ask us a question, ministers of the gospel, please, and we are in the same boat together, and I need you to understand that I'm speaking to all of us together. Let me ask us a question. Right inside your notes, stars and mars, the last five things you did in ministry, that came out of prayer. I mean that purely came out of your walk with God and prayer. Not that you saw somebody do something, and you go, this will be useful for our church. Now, you can say that it was not in any way influenced, and you get what I'm saying here. So what has happened is this, that the complete dependence on prayer to receive God ideas and God thoughts, which is really ministry. You see, because a good idea is not necessarily ministry. The complete dependence on prayer, in the place of prayer, you know, Jesus said, I can of myself do nothing. He said, that which I see my father do, not what I read on Twitter. That which I see my father do, he said, that's what I do. Which means, if I don't see him do it, somebody get what I'm saying here. Now, you will agree with me that we don't need to see our father do anything. There's a lot of things that's working around us right now, and usually more often than not, what happens is this, we look at what we see, what is working, and we even have cute terms for it. We say we innovate around it. You see, let me tell you something. Ministry is not necessarily a place for innovation. I'll tell you the place for innovation. Ministry is a place to download instructions. There's a difference between instructions and being innovative. I'll come to it in just a bit. And you'll begin to see why it would seem as though there is lateral growth, there is, you know, expansion, as it were, in church and in ministry. And we don't seem to have commensurate body strength. Do you get what I'm saying here? It looks as though we are gathering the numbers and we're grateful to God for it, but we don't seem to have that commensurate body strength. I can tell you for free that a major part of that is the fact that if it's ministry, it has to be generated from bended knees. Now, you can refine the thoughts with information. You can refine the ideas, the ideas that God gives you with information that comes from the external and you shoot. You can refine it by all the things that you are seeing, but there has to be that thing that whatever it is we're engaged with here is primarily what I've seen my father do. If Jesus was that dependent, we have more so to be dependent. Does somebody get what I'm saying here? And the real way that can happen is a vital prayer life. You see, and because we are men of God, you know what I'm saying here, those ideas many times does not even come when you're praying. They come because you have prayed. And the mistake we make many times is that, oh, rato, kabaya, three hours, ah, I didn't see anything. No, those ideas many times don't come to you because, I mean, when you are praying. It's usually, you are just driving on the road and it just opens up like a scroll to you. But those moments cannot happen if there is no real prayer life. It can't happen. It cannot happen. Those moments cannot happen if there's no real prayer life. Real ministry starts from prayer. Remove prayer and there's no ministry. The difference between a motivational speaker and a teacher is prayer. Does somebody get what I'm saying? That two people can be saying exactly the same thing and you would have transformation and impact happening in the lives of people and for others, their notes are filled. What's the difference? The prayer life of the minister. Every minister, never forget this, determines the strength of the flow of life out of him. Every minister. It's not God. God does not determine the strength of the flow of life, of grace and power out of a minister. Every minister determines it and the number one cause in this school of ministry, the number one cause in your assignment as a minister is prayer. Whatever you do, protect it. Because that's what will be most attacked. And if you will agree with me, if I sample everybody here, you will agree with me. You will agree with me that your prayer life is under attack. Oh yes. With legitimate needs and legitimate reasons. Is somebody still here? So prayer, the genius of prayer is that that's how we connect with God's thoughts, inspiration and revelation. But because of the preponderance of, you know, the abundance of information, the access to information that we have today, that dependence on prayer has really dropped greatly. And so prayer has become one of the arsenals in the tool of a believer. It's become one of the arsenals in the tool of the minister rather than being the main thing in the tool of a minister. Are we still here tonight? Well, ministers of the gospel, am I right? So I can say some things and it will not be taken out of context. Am I right? Let me say this to you. Listen to me. Listen, tomorrow morning in the plenary session, we have a PhD theologian who is coming to take something on doctrine. So we'll come to that. But I can tell you for this, for free, that if you are accurate and sound in doctrine and you don't have a prayer life, you will soon go into error. But if you are not sound in doctrine and accurate and you have a genuine prayer life, God will correct you. Did you hear what I said? Let me state what I said again and hear me well. If you are accurate in doctrine but you don't have a prayer life, which means there's no real prayer life, you will soon be a problem to yourself and to the people that are hearing you because much learning will soon make you mad. Have you not seen people who genuinely were accurate guys, accurate guys, accurate and accurate? Let me tell you the sincere truth. It is difficult to get into error and heresy in teaching and preaching if you have a prayer life. It's very difficult. People that get into error and heresy, it's proof positive that they are just talkers. They don't have a secret place. I can tell you that for free. How many of you here, you said something and as you were going back, the Holy Spirit said, check that thing. And if you are humble enough, you'll come back on the stage and say, listen, the way I said it is not exactly right. Why is that so? Because without prayer, you can't activate the ministry of the Spirit. So soon enough, the word becomes dry mussel. Somebody get what I'm saying here. It begins to choke you and you start choking the people that are hearing you. But if a man genuinely has a prayer life and does not seem to know the word, what God will do, if he can't even get to him, is that he will send teachers into his life. Because God will preserve such a person. Can somebody get what I'm saying? Please listen and listen carefully to me. Prayer. Prayer. Does it not surprise you that Moise told us about the prayer life of Jesus than his study life? I hope you know that he was a studio man. But you can only allude to it from certain things. Which means you can't go from Matthew to John and list 10 scriptures where you say that from this, clearly we are saying Jesus was studying six hours a day. You won't find it there. But do you observe that there is no gospel where his prayer life was not presented to us, including how long he prayed? You think it's an error in scriptures? You don't think the Bible knows what he's saying? Is somebody getting what I'm saying? Why do you think that when they said let's choose deacons, the first thing they said is that we may, so that we may give ourselves to number one what? Prayer. Why do you think that was the order? And the ministry of the word. Why do you think they put it in that order? Please write it down. Prayer is ministry. Prayer is ministry. Prayer is ministry. God will never call you to preach until he has called you to pray. The prayer closet is the making room of a minister. Remember I said to Ross, I said I'm speaking to men of God. So fundamentals maybe you know, let's go deeper and all the rest. But let's remind ourselves and don't let's you know, let's be sincere and real with ourselves. What is our prayer closet like? That's where we're starting from in this conference. Look at what Charles Haddon Spurgeon said, the prince of preachers. He said the preachers above all others distinguished as a man of prayer. Above everything else he says the minister, the preacher is distinguished as a man of prayer. He prays as an ordinary he prays as an ordinary Christian else he were a hypocrite. He prays more than ordinary Christians else he's disqualified for the office he has undertaken. Do you understand what he just said now? He said he has to pray as an ordinary Christian just like the average believer or else you'll be a hypocrite in ministry. He prays even much more else you'll be disqualified for the assignment and the ministry that he has. Prayer is what? Ministry. Please write this down if you're taking notes. Prayer is the highest expression, the loudest expression of your utter dependency on God. Let me say that again. Prayer is your highest expression and the loudest expression of your utter dependency on God. I always say this, Yongi Cho and Pastor Deboye who in the last couple of years, decades put ministry at a pedestal that we've never known it before. The number one thing that comes to you when you study them is their prayer life. An American preacher was with Yongi Cho in a lift and he asked him, he said, he said, just one secret. Just give me one secret. Just one thing I can do to transform. And Yongi Cho said, he said, I will tell you but you will think it is too simple. He said, the secret of my life is that every day I spend not less than three hours in prayer before God. He said, every day. And at this time he was about 40 years in ministry. He said, I spend not less than three hours every day in prayer before God. So we will never outgrow the subject of prayer. Alright, number two. Let's run quickly. Five fundamentals of ministry and then we'll build up into the other things that God has for us. The foundation of ministry. We said number one, the source of ministry is God. Number two is that the foundation of ministry is Christ. And I'll explain what I mean by that. The foundation of ministry is Christ. Let's explore a few scriptures. First Corinthians chapter 2. Glory to God. From verse 1. It says, And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. It says, For I determined not to know anything among you. All I wanted to know is what? Jesus Christ and him what? Crucified. Now go to chapter 3 of that same first Corinthians and verse 10 that we read earlier on. It says, According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another built it thereon. It says, But let every man take it how he built it thereon. Now let's read verse 11 together. I want to go. For other foundation can no man lay, than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now please listen to me. Irrespective Please stop right there and listen to me. Irrespective of the office or the assignment that you have, there is only one foundation in ministry. Jesus Christ. And I'll explain what I mean by that in a bit. You see, if we're not careful, with the idea of you know, specialization, you know, I'm a this, I'm a that, I'm this, I'm this, we might lose sight of the very core of ministry, which is primarily that Jesus Christ is preached and people come to the saving knowledge of Jesus. Now, no matter what you're doing, you see, because we can grow churches and people are not saved. I hope you know. That in fact, we have developed a model of ministry today, where churches grow, but people are not being saved. We can develop all of these things around and it looks so smart and it's done so well, but if you look inside that church in a one year period, maybe 50 people got saved. Maybe 60 people got saved. Paul said something. He said, listen, there is only one foundation that matters. Crucified. Which means everyone who calls themselves a minister of the gospel must have a personal understanding of the gospel. And when we talk about the gospel, I'm talking about the message that brings salvation to everyone. Irrespective of the unique assignments that we now have in Christ. Your unique assignment may be singing. Your unique assignment may be a pastoral ministry. Your unique assignment may be a prophetic ministry, but the foundation of that assignment, the foundation of everything that we do, is that men come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Because we can teach for one year and nobody is saved. And we are excited that we have taught great revelation and great truths. And we are, I mean, you know, I mean, our messages are everywhere and everyone is excited about it. I hope you know, by the way, Christianity is not the fastest growing religion. It's been overtaken. And the reason is very simple. There is an emphasis on church, on Christianizing the Christians at the expense of a dying world. So everyone who comes into ministry must understand that the basic assignment, the foundation that God has given to all of us, irrespective of, you say, God sent me, God told me this, God told me that, the basic assignment that God has given to all of us is that we must be, we must be, we must have an understanding of the gospel and through that message, bring many to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. That's the basic thing. Whatever you are building upon it, thank God for it. But I hope you know that if there's no foundation, then there's no building. Paul said, this is the foundation of every ministry. The core of a minister's assignment is the saving message of the gospel. Irrespective of our unique offices and our unique callings, we must prioritize this foundation of ministry. Soul saved, please write it down, what is this foundation of ministry? Soul saved by a clear presentation of the gospel and the demonstration of the power of God. Now, I was saying to some people, some ministers, and I said to them, I said, because we have drifted from this understanding, what has happened is this, and you know that's where we got the sicker sensitive model things from, where you can say to people, just come, and you know, over six months, over one year, they will change. If you study scriptures, when people met Jesus, they changed. When people, I don't know where you, whatever your opinion, whatever you, wherever you're getting your data from is fine, but I get my data from scriptures. When the, when the harlot met Jesus, she became an evangelist. That everyone who encountered Jesus, we don't find this new theology, this new ideology of let people just be coming, let people just be coming, and over time, something will happen on the inside of them. No, that's not what the Bible shows us. The Bible shows us encounters where people met Jesus, and their lives were radically turned around. Somebody follow what I'm saying here? Now, what has happened with this is this, and maybe we don't know it, is that like the children of Israel in the Old Testament, we have grown by a mixed multitude. So the Bible tells us that the mixed multitude amongst the children of Israel began to entice them and induce them to sin. Have you read that before? It says, and these were people that went up out with Israel when they were going out. So these were Egyptians who were not saved, who were not born again. They were not saved, they were not born again. In that sense, they were not redeemed, they were not the people of God, they were not Israelites and all the rest. But they had joined themselves to the rank of Israel. And what has happened for the most part, is having lowered the entry point, many people have joined themselves to our ranks without being saved. And let me tell you the truth. Some of them have become leaders. Hey, somebody hear what I'm saying here? That many times what happens is once somebody has something to offer, that's what Matas. all that matter are you getting so we have developed an inclusive system of ministry we've developed an inclusive system of church and the convicting power of the holy spirit seems to be absent is somebody getting what i'm saying here this is the one major reason i was in prayer and i will never forget it i said lord how come our numbers are increasing and it seems that our strengths are not our strength is not increasing in the body of christ and the lord said to me he said mixed multitude that's the reason mixed multitude are you still here and so every minister must have a personal understanding of the message of the gospel i was saying to them on sunday remember i told these are fundamentals i said to them on sunday i said there are many things we teach for for people to be blessed and instructed by but it's not everything that we preach that can lead to people's salvation there are many things that we teach and we instruct people all right we teach them from god's word and we show them from scriptures because the bible teaches that i mean shows us all these truths in the god in god's word but it's not these things that will lead to the salvation of people the bible clearly shows what leads to salvation there is a definite message that must be preached that leads to their salvation they must see their need for a savior are you following what i'm saying here they must see the provision of god in jesus christ and you get what i'm saying here salvation is not come to jesus then you will prosper you you See in in medicine and in science you have what you call false negatives and false positives we have had a quite a number of false salvations and i'll tell you why because you cannot generate salvation without the right message it's a clear message it says they have he says the preacher has to preach to them and he tells us in romans 10 what the preacher has to say it is clear what the preacher must say it is clear what they must hear can they believe it there's no preacher no it's not possible if they have not heard how shall they he accept there's a preacher what is the message that the preacher must preach so the preacher whoever it is the minister of the gospel whoever you are wherever you stand in whatever office you are you stand the clear understanding of the message of the gospel and to ensure that at every point in time we have the opportunity to interact with god's people or with people we present that message some way somehow very important or else what will we do we will not be able to do it we will not be able to do it we will not be able to do it we will not be able to do it we will not be able to do it we will happen is this is that we will keep strengthening the church and we are not reaching out to the unsaved you know paul wrote to timothy and if you know if your bible i mean if you studied church history at the time that paul was writing to timothy the officiant church timothy was pastor of the officiant church it was about a twenty thousand twenty five thousand member church and yet paul wrote to him he said do the work of an evangelist i know you're a pastor but do the work of an evangelist the mindset he was giving him a certain mindset to ministry that you can get to a point where you're so comfortable with what you have seen and you're very okay with it and you are very okay with transfer growth at the expense or you get what i'm saying here at the expense of snatching people out of the the bonds of satan i'm bringing them into the saving knowledge of jesus christ let me tell you a story and it happened with us i had finished preaching and all the rest and then somebody told another person he said i i thought your pastor would make an altar so the person came and wanted to be saved but i was too busy with my revelation and all my church people were hailing me and a sinner left without being saved do you understand what i'm saying that no matter what your assignment is no matter the uniqueness of your calling it must never be more priority than saving souls must never be or else let me tell you the truth you will get to a stage in ministry where you will start acting and it happens when you start wondering i mean you know why are people talking like this and why are people behaving like this i'll come to it that you'll be wondering why did how can somebody start do you get what i'm saying here and the reason is very simple once you take your mind off souls everything becomes important the most mundane issues will become your priority are you following what i'm saying once you take your mind off souls the moment you are comfortable in ministry you will find out that listen you will find you will find out that that's when all right glory to god are you still here are you getting what i'm saying all of a sudden you will realize that you're you see you're because there's a way all right i mean because of the way things are so there are some things i can't say for now do we understand what i'm saying even if you don't understand just say yes the holy spirit will interpret it in your heart what i'm saying is this is that once your heart shifts away from the priority of souls you will start prioritizing things that don't matter as a minister you are you get what i'm saying you start because you will find your fulfillment and satisfaction from everything else it will come from the buildings it will come from the numbers it will come from the likes on social media and you get what i'm saying here and let me tell you this everybody thinks that tough times are the most difficult to handle no no no promotion is the most difficult thing to handle i have found out that people behave more mad when they are promoted than before they are promoted i have found it out the most difficult thing to handle is promotion it's very difficult look at scriptures one read it that god promoted him in such a way god said listen now since you are behaving like this i will send you amongst the animals are you getting what i'm saying people think that oh you know maybe because we have 10 people in church we have five people in church if god will just take me to that level and all the rest if your heart is not hinged on souls there is a number that will come to church and a certain kind of money that will enter your pocket that you will stop pushing for growth what is that you're looking for at his age no answer me what is he looking for what is bishop looking for at his age if it is numbers don't they have the numbers why is a man planting 10 000 churches in one year i mean you must you do you think that he's trying to i mean make himself big you are big already is it 10 000 churches that will make you bigger what is pastor doing that i mean they still have vision 2032 and if you go and read it the strange numbers they have on vision 2032 what do you why do you think no matter listen to me no matter your what you think about them and all the rest no matter what is doing i hope you know that all our fathers of faith there are three things they agree on their doctrines are completely different but all of them agree on three things number one prayer you will never find a father in this country who is not who does not give priority to prayer all of them can say different things from their poopy to disagree on a lot of things are you following what i'm saying here number two thing that you see with them coupled to that sir is fasting you won't find any of them who are you getting who trivializes fasting is our generation that's trivializing it you will not find any of them irrespective of their doctrine doctrinal leanings are not addressed number three interestingly is so winning but we have developed a model of ministry and you get what i'm saying here and you see once your heart gets what he what he wants it will stop me misbehaving once your heart let me tell you as a minister of the gospel once your heart gets what it wants it will start misbehaving you will start coming up with visions that god did not give you you will start are you get what i'm saying here you will start entering let me tell you about somebody in this country i won't mention his name you will start coming up with visions that god did not give you you will start are you get what i'm saying here one of the fathers in this country and i was telling my wife about him earlier on i knew when it happened not that they told me i knew when it happened in fact i called somebody in the ministry and i said what is going on what is going on and i said listen we better pray for him at a point i just noticed that the emphasis of that minister and please don't don't don't the emphasis of that minister was national transformation national transformation we'll change nigeria we'll change nigeria and i said i said listen i said what happens after a while is you get to that point and then you feel like oh i'm responsible for nigeria i need to and then your message changes i heard the man say recently himself he said for a season in his life he found out that satan had given him another vision as eyes from his real vision he's gone back to crusades now to between his crusades but i knew when it happened and i remember i said this is not ministry national transformation is not ministry please listen to me and listen to me well it is the effect of ministry it is not ministry yes sir yes sir listen samuel will not go and be legislating policies in the king's palace are you following what i'm saying he has lost samuel will raise somebody to do that the effect are you following what i'm saying but what happens is that once your heart has is satisfied with what he wants what many pastors don't know is that we want to blow let me tell you the truth what many people don't know is that you just and let me tell you the pressure is worse because of social media so once we now have an idea of what blowing ministry looks like and everything you are doing if you'll be sincere with yourself in fact you prepare your salmon and you put a hook inside you you say something there so that they will capture it and they'll cut it for social media am i against planning your messages no but i'm saying that you have now planned the holy spirit out completely because you've checked okay this is what's now raining so if i say it like this oh yeah did you maybe cut it cut it for me give me my fellow soldiers we are here together and you get what i'm saying and if everybody is looking at me and you're telling me no i'm not like that you are lying sir all of us are under the same pressure everybody i'm telling you the truth that once you're if you don't know what you are looking for you will be shocked that when you get it you will start doing things that will surprise your younger self the only thing that can anchor your heart and write as a minister of the gospel is the priority of souls that's the only thing that's the priority that's the only thing is somebody still here number two the foundation of ministry is what christ and him what crucified preaching it a clear understanding of that message presenting it developing a passion for the lost that irrespective of wherever god has taken us to there will never be that sense of satisfaction because there's still somebody to be saved are you following what i'm saying what i'm saying please listen to me you are first a preacher of the gospel before a singer you are first a preacher of the gospel before a prophet you cannot be sending prophecies to politicians that are not yet saved because envelopes are passing around let that prophecy are you get what i'm saying in fact every prophecy that does not point to christ do you get what i'm saying you get what i'm saying it can be your hook but there has to be that point where there has to be that confrontation with the darkness there to bring them into light let me say this to you love souls more than your prophecy love souls more than your singing jesus said lovest thou me more than this then your your attention will be on what the lamb the sheep love are you getting what i'm saying here that we can love ministry we can love our gift so much we can love all of these things so much that we can we lose sight of the real thing which is souls may god birth in our hearts a compassion for souls in the name of jesus i said may god birth in our hearts are fresh a compassion for souls in the mighty name of jesus thank god for social media but the primary way souls will still be saved is by people preaching it are you following what i'm saying and organizing the church organizing people around it that's the primary way to save souls anyway everything else just amplifies what we are doing social media can gather a crowd but it's prayer and soul winning that bets a church is somebody still here let me say that again social media can gather a crowd but it's prayer and soul winning that really bets a church number three i told you number one we're still talking about here the fundamentals of ministry am i right and we said number one is what that the source of ministry is who god and you express that utter dependency on the source of ministry on god dependence on god through what prayer number two we said the foundation of ministry is christ and him crucified every minister must do a thorough study of the subject of the gospel and understand it as the foundation of your assignment are you following what i'm saying that even when you throw out prayer points when you have a word of prophecy it should be processed through the understanding of what jesus has done is somebody getting what i'm saying here very important very important that is not just enough to say i sang a song it should be processed through the lens this is the foundation this is what determines if it is ministry is somebody still here number three the labor of ministry please observe the word he used he said we are co-laborers with christ he says we are co-laborers with christ please write this down whatever is a discipline for the believer must be a labor for the minister whatever is expected as a discipline for the believer which means if we expect the discipline of being studious we expect the discipline of prayer we expect the discipline of this it must be labor for the minister for example there is the discipline of prayer and there is the labor of prayer are you following what i'm saying there's the discipline of prayer where because i am a believer i discipline myself to do this but because of the responsibility i have there is the labor of prayer there's the discipline of study which every believer is meant to engage in but there's the labor of what study now i have found out more often than not that what separates people in ministry is their label i have come to this conclusion that without an intentional effort the average minister will be a lazy person without an intentional effort to curb it the average minister is prone to being a lazy person sincerely speaking without intentional effort that listen ministry requires a level of work ethics that is staggering now here's the problem with ministry particularly if you're in full time or whatever it is and you are by yourself you don't have supervision so you are the one who makes the rules for yourself i always say to people even as senior pastors and all the rest go and check it people that had a bit of corporate experience are better associates many times not all the time but they are many times better associates than people who just jumped into ministry you know why it is not because corporate experience makes them more spiritual it gives them a work ethic a forced work ethic so they have to wake up at six they have to resume at eight are you following what i'm saying here they have to close by five they have to close by six they have to close by ten now i have found out that many times ministers are tired but they are not diligent and the reason they are tired is that their energy is scattered first is they do not even know what the work and labor of ministries and i'll list it out to you which is when you say you're a minister of the gospel what is your work i i don't know how many of you have been asked before so what do you do then you have to close by five they have to close by six they have to close by ten now i have found out that many times ministers are tired but they are not diligent i do i pray i hear you pray are you guys what i'm saying so what is your work as a minister of the gospel because if you look at paul paul speaks let me show you a few scriptures here look at the way paul speaks about his assignment first corinthians chapter 15 verse 10 first corinthians chapter 15 and verse 10 are we getting anything tonight he says but by the grace of god i am what i am thank god for his enablement he says and his grace which was bestowed upon him by the grace of god i am what i am thank god for his enablement he says and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain but i did what labored more abundantly than who than all the other apostles this is paul speaking you can call it competition you can say oh paul is competing and you know comparing he's not competing he's simply trying to tell you that thank god for grace but what you have seen in my life don't attribute it to grace alone and you know that's the that's that's what we like in the body of christ oh god has graced him so much there are many people that god has graced who are not labeled by the grace of god and they are not labeled by the grace of god they bought into the level of grace look at what he says he says by the grace of god i am what i am and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain so grace can be in vain is somebody following what i'm saying and what ensures that grace is not in vain he says but i did what labored more abundantly than they all then he adds this yet not new he says but the grace of god which was with me you know paul so you're telling us oh the grace of god and the grace of god here is talking about the enablement of god he says listen it's the it's the same grace but i labored more abundantly than they all don't ever don't ever in the name of whatever it is reduce what god is doing in any person's life and say it's grace alone it's one of the ways that we excuse ourselves from label i've noticed it ah god has favored him ah look at that minister look at what god is doing with him the grace of god paul said whatever you see in my life i acknowledge that the grace of god was there but i labored more abundantly than they all let me tell you this whatever you see in your ministry is a function of labor it's a function of labor so whatever labor you're not willing to impute in it don't expect certain dimensions of results are you still here well most all of us notice i mean i remember i had i had to see the bishop at the time and this was the first time ever and i remember i was told he said just hang around he will see you it was 2 a.m i'm telling you he had preached i think for service or whatever it is it was a sunday so it was monday 2 a.m that he was then done with everything that he was doing and then he had time to see me so i asked i said has he gone home they said no do you understand what i'm saying said no that from when he entered church to preach and you know we have a generation that now says don't kill yourself like that too that's why you're not seeing what they are seeing that's why you're not seeing what they are seeing because there's a point where you should kill yourself let me be sincere with you you will not be this young forever there is a point where listen there are seasons and times in the life of a man and no matter the mercy of god that you say mercy mercy mercy mercy, mercy, mercy. That no matter what you say, there is a season where god gives you natural strength to actually label and if that's if you miss that season you have missed something in your life you have if somebody's saying here one of them now i'm not saying um abuse your body or whatever it is but i'm saying that many times when people say and no address no address it's it's because the the the level of diligence that is expected of people has really dropped so very easily people say i'm stressed i'm very very stressed if while running on your foot you are this tired how shall you run with horses so ministry requires what labor look at colossians chapter one very quickly colossians chapter one and i'm not saying ministry requires work it requires labor there has to be diligence diligence diligence diligence diligence diligence in ministry it says whom we preach one in every man and teaching every man in all wisdom that we may present every man perfect in christ i'd like us to read verse 29 together i want to go where unto i also what label let's read it together where unto i also what label what did paul say where unto i also label striving according to his working which worketh in me how mightily but what did he start out with where unto i also what label your work ethics as a minister must be impeccable impeccable work ethics those are some of the decisions you have to make impeccable work ethics the major reason for failure in ministry many times is not lack of the anointing or anything it's usually poor work ethics poor work ethics now what are the real tasks of a minister which means if i ask you today as a minister of the gospel what is your assignment what is your job what must you structure your life around from morning till evening as a minister of the gospel because if you don't have clarity on what your tasks are then you are wondering what should i be doing are you following what i'm saying i think it was um a senior minister and we're just fellowshipping together and he told me about and i won't mention him one of the fathers he said he went to he spent i think about two or three days with him and then he asked him one day he said so what do you do he said i pray i read i think so he said is that what you do he said yes that's my assignment i pray i read i think you mean that that's the labor that you do he said yes he said everything that you are seeing here i pray i read i think as a minister of the gospel there are four things that on a consistent basis you must be engaged in in fact you must structure your life around it number one obviously everybody knows that it is ministry to god are you following what i'm saying here that's number one ministry to god the first thing the first labor that you must be engaged in ministry to god structured not left to inspiration or anything ministry to god when do you appear before the lord in prayer are you following what i'm saying here what's your study routine like ministry to god number two ministry to people that's the second thing and it has to be structured and in some other session i'm going to explain ministry to people because you have to be careful that you don't expend your energy on people who have chosen not to change do you understand what i'm saying in fact pastors let me very sincerely do an audit eighty percent of your counseling time is spent with people who have chosen not to change go and check it it's the same people you have been counseling for two years same people the high impact people are usually low maintenance the problem is that people who have chosen not to change who have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change and they have chosen not to change i don't want to say it now because there's something i need to say before it's so you don't now say are you still here but that's what happens you find out that you commit your strength and your energy and listen it's only god that is infinite once you understand the law of being finite it means that my resources are not infinite and once it is not finite it must be well managed and administered is god hear me there has rain to fall on everybody both the good and the bad you your rain do you get what i'm saying here is god that is infinite and what that simply means is that god can just be god can be counseling people for 100 years it will not change it will not reduce anything you sir you are not god do you understand what i'm saying and don't get into emotional manipulation sometimes even caused by yourself oh oh my god oh my god do you understand you must know all right so number number number one is ministry to the lord i'll come back to that number two is ministry ministry to people ministry to people in fact everybody listen to me carefully here the more time you spend with people the less effective you get did you hear what i said as a minister of the gospel the more time you see that's what makes ministers but their blood bubble like i'm busy i'm busy i'm busy if you ask most ministers why are you busy i'm counseling i'm visiting i'm talking to people i'm dead but interestingly the more time you spend with people the less effective you are to real ministry so you must structure it well are you following what i'm saying ministry to the lord priority ministry to people number three personal development every man's calling requires a set of skills and some of those skills don't come by the anointing did you hear what i said every man's calling requires a certain set of skills and it will differ from person to person and some of those skills they will not come from prayer and fasting and by the anointing so there must be continuous development personal development and if you are actually growing in god and god is giving you visions and assignment then personal development will be a lifelong thing because every time god ups the vision then there is an adjustment that must happen inside you if you have not penned down i'm not saying that you are thinking of it that you are saying one two three things i need to get more skill around this develop myself around this then you probably don't know the vision for the year yet because once you know your vision let me explain to you vision always creates a gap between real it will create a gap from reality so this is reality this is where you are by the time you look at vision it shows you a skill gap now it is not god that will fill that skill gap it is you that has to go on a journey of personal development to fill that skill gap so that it's a kind of man that can bet certain kinds of visions is somebody getting what i'm saying here so personal development so you must ask yourself on a daily basis and i taught a message in our church i said you don't win every month you don't win every year you win every day on a daily basis what is happening concerning this personal development and then number four is organizational leadership those are the four responsibilities of a minister of the gospel ministry to the lord ministry to people personal development and organizational leadership and i think it's tomorrow i'll get into organizational leadership a bit more the truth of the matter is this if any of these things are lacking it will show in the kind of life that you live and the kind of ministry that you have if somebody get what i'm saying all factors are required so when you say that paul says i was laboring in what was he laboring number one in his ministry to the lord that's why you hear mixed statements like i speak in tongues more than you all he was quantifying the effort that he put into his ministry to the lord are you following what i'm saying here number two ministry to people number three what is number three there personal development and then what's number four organizational leadership so on a daily basis how am i engaged in this and you can't wear all of these hats at the same time interestingly you wear this hat you remove it then you wear this hat then you remove it you wear this hat then you remove it then you wear this hat then you remove it and everybody here listening to me there's usually one or two areas that comes natural to you if you look at what i've just said here and usually one or two that comes natural to you so you have to develop yourself in the other areas that don't come natural are you following this here number four we've spoken about number one the source of ministry who is god number two the foundation of ministry christ and him crucified number three is the labor of ministry and then number four is the honor of ministry hebrews 5 4 says no man take this honor upon himself except him that god has chosen him that god has called the honor of ministry every minister that ever does anything great for god has this sense inside them i have something to offer there is nobody that will go find their ministry assignment who despises the call on their lives are you following what i'm saying which means and i'm not talking about you getting into personal aggrandizement or you know that delusion of grandiosity but a clear knowledge on the inside of yourself that i am needed i have something to offer that nobody else can offer it's the honor of ministry. Is somebody getting this here? Let me tell you something here. If you followed our ministry and followed me a bit, you know that one of the biggest things for me on earth is honor. One day I was in prayer and the Lord said to me, He said, there is a way and manner in which you will honor those who have gone ahead that you despise your own call. I'd never seen it before. Have you heard ministers say things like, ah, who are we in the equation? No, you are something in the equation. That irrespective of what God has done with anybody, there is no telling what he can do with you. Now, if you don't have that sense to ministry, if you don't have that acknowledgement of your call, where you can look at something that is happening with somebody else and genuinely rejoice and shake your head that, listen, I am filling my space, I'm filling my gap. I'm going to stand in my, are you following what I'm saying here? In fact, what you don't realize is this, that when men stand in the fullness of their office, it will always cause either inspiration or envy. Now, when you see a man who is standing in the fullness of his office, you will look at the person, and if you're not careful, you want to drop your own unique call and follow that person. How many of you have seen somebody standing in the office of a prophet, and you say, Kai, I want, I mean, I mean, are you following what I'm saying here? And you are a teacher, you say, I just wish I can, I can, I was listening to William Abraham recently. I just gathered a lot of his videos. And William Abraham, he would stand, and he'd say, hey, lady, don't tell me, have we met before? No, we've never met before. And then he would start listing, I'm talking about solid New Testament ministry. I didn't know when I said God, how fun, huh? Because I just felt like if I came to church, and I did that one, two, like this, bread, I would just say, I'm a man of God, and all this. And I realized that a man standing in the fullness of his office, will either cause you to be inspired, or will cause you to be envious. Is somebody following what I'm saying? I was sharing, I don't remember where I was sharing it, that I was watching camp meeting, I don't remember that year, and Brother Hagen had brought all the gospel grits. Ora Roberts was there, T.L. Osborne was there, Noveles, Arnold Dress, some massive guys, they were there. And I was watching the video one after the other. Interestingly, as I watched each and every one of them, I wanted to stand in the office they stood. T.L. Osborne came, and the only thing he was talking was souls. We need to take the nations. And God is my witness. I began to cry. I will go to the nations for you. Then Ora Roberts came and said, we need to build for God. And you know how Ora Roberts is, the healing anointing. And I found myself shifting from one person to another, till I was wondering what is my call on it. Here is where I'm going to. Because of how much God has used certain people, many of you are beginning to despise your call. You have even left the uniqueness of your assignment to try to be like somebody else. This is what you don't know. You will not matter in the scheme of life, and destiny when you are a clone. You will not. Capital letters underlined. Anybody who will stand out must be unique. And it is the wisdom of God to give you something unique. It is that unique thing you are seeing in another person that is making you like, I wish I were like this. Let it inspire you to find yours. Please listen to me. That's why we have a lot of ministries. Somebody does something, and then everybody just follows that pattern. Almost as though the many-sided wisdom of God has finished. Have you not seen people do things in ministry today that you sincerely wonder, this thing five years, ten years ago, it was never a thing in ministry. Let me take Pastor Jerry as an example. The new, this prayer platform, what they call it now, NPE, I should have known. The new prayer platform, I mean, doing all those prayers. Ten years ago, would you ever have imagined that anybody can build a ministry out of that? Would you ever have imagined that anybody can build a ministry out of that? Never. You know what has happened now? Because people are not willing to download their own ideas. The honor of ministries that God places his call upon you, and that you have something to offer that nobody else can offer. I didn't say that, you know, sometimes we say certain things. I'm saying to you that nobody else. God will raise people to do what they need to do, but nobody else can offer what you have to offer to the body. Do you understand what I'm saying here? And that if you are not careful, I heard Reverend Christian Akilume tell the story. I mean, he had worked a bit as a volunteer staff with Archbishop, something like that. I don't remember the arrangement, but something like that. And one of those days, he said he was walking down the corridors. This was in the 80s, early 80s or something. He was walking down the corridors, and he was seeing all those massive crusades of Archbishop. And he said he didn't know when tears began to roll down his eyes. Like, when shall we ever be able to do these things? I mean, how on earth? And then he said, I don't know. He said he didn't know when those words floated out from his subconscious. I believe in the call of God upon my life. And if you are not careful, you look at things in your environment, and you start despising what you carry. Every man that God has used at a very high level, they maintain the sense of, I have something to offer that nobody can offer. And they never allow circumstance or the seeming progress of anybody in their environment take their eyes off that thing. Once your eyes is off it, you are off the game. Once your eyes is off this thing, this acknowledgement that I have something to offer nobody can offer. Once your eyes is off it, and you start despising the call on your life, you are off the game. Completely off the game. The call you should honor the most on earth is the call of God on your life. Honor all men. Honor, I mean, God will place people over you that you must honor. But the call that you must honor the most on earth is what? The call of God. The call of God upon your life. Let me tell you how powerful this is. My wife and I were somewhere in Southwest. We were praying with a couple of friends. Our covenant brothers. And we were praying there. And out of the blue, the Lord spoke to me. He said, what is the greatest seed you have sown in your life? So I made a mental note. Oh, I knew the amount. He said, where did you sow it? And I realized where I sowed it to. And the Lord said to me, he said, going forward, he said, let it be evident by your giving that you believe in your assignment. It was in prayer. God told me I had never done the calculation. Do you remember? I'd never done the calculation. And all this, he just don't on me. The Lord said to me, he said, what is it? And then I realized that number one, number two, number three was not our ministry. I was a regular giver to the ministry, but it was not our ministry. You know what had happened there? There's the sense of, you know, the grace of God and all this. And I believe in it. I, I mean, I mean, if you know anything, we saw radically upwards, but God was correcting something. Something subtle in my mind that if you genuinely believe in this thing, let your hand enter. Please tell me I have something to offer. Please say it with a louder voice. I have something to offer. Never honor graces, honor ministries, but never belittle your calling. Never belittle your calling, regardless of where you are in the now. Never belittle it. Honor your place and your face, P-H-A-S-E, your place and your face, because there are phases in ministry. Honor it. You're on a journey. Are you following what I'm saying here? Paul planted Apollos watered, but Paul said, neither he that planted or watered is anything. It is not the place. It's like saying, I wish I was the one. And many times when people don't honor the call of God upon their life, honor whatever God has placed upon their life. Are you really? Maybe you see somebody flowing in some gifts in some dangerous manner, and there's nothing wrong with, you know, desire, being desirous of being used of God, but every man must abide within his calling. Every man, every man. There are people that are trying to stand in a prophetic ministry because they think an address, and then they get into a problem with it. It was what happened with William Braham. God sent him, I think it was F.F. Bosworth. And as long as the man stayed with him, teaching the word, teaching the word, everything was fine. Then the man said, I need to enter. He was sitting into an office that God had not called him into. The funny thing is that all of us now want a professor like William Braham. You know, sometimes you're the only one who does not see the greatness of the call. Sometimes you're the only one. Sometimes you're the only one despising what you are carrying. You're the only one who thinks it doesn't matter. Please look at the person beside you, and I want you to please tell them it matters. It matters. You must honor as well your uniqueness. Number five. Are we still together today? The object of ministry. Now, I'm not going to spend time on this because there's an entire teaching on that. The object of ministry is people. We must never lose the real essence of ministry, which is people. We must never lose the real essence. Never lose the essence of ministry. People. Reaching people. Raising people. Training people. Not just trying to build a big church. Not just trying to blow. But raising people. Now, let's look into that word there when it says wise master builder. Please put back 1 Corinthians chapter 3 and verse 9 on the screen. 1 Corinthians chapter 3 verse 9. We're blessed tonight. Can I have it on my screen? 1 Corinthians 3 and verse 9. Please let's read together. I want to go. What does it say? For we are laborers together with God. It says, you're God's husbandry. you are God's building. Next verse. According to the grace of God, which is given unto me as a wise master builder. Let's stop there. As a wise master builder. And I want to talk to us about, now we get into the real matter here. What was Paul saying when he spoke about being a wise master builder? We're called to build together with God. Like I already stated, that's the honor that we have. God is building something and he's giving us a seat. In doing it. He's giving us a place in doing it. Now, but when you read wise master builder, it's not talking, you know, the idea that we have of master builder is a laborer who is carrying cement, carrying stones and all the rest. But in the Greek, what he's referring to is more of the word is architect, not the guy who is on the field, hitting things around. The Greek word, actually, if you were to translate it into English, is actually a wise architect. All right. Or let me put it the right way. The word wise, there is so far. Uh, where you get Sophia from, which means a visionary architect. That's an architect that has sight. He has vision. He knows exactly what is to be built. He's not building, you know, just, um, anyhow, there's a pattern with which he's building. Now the master builder has three definite assignments. Please write number one or three definite questions that he must answer. Number one is what is to be built? He must answer that question. What is to be built? Number two is how is it to be built? And then number three is what tools are to be used in building? Number one, what is to be built? And then number three, what tools are to be used in building? I remember where we ended. I told you the object of ministry is men and all the rest. And that I didn't go into it because that's where we're starting from here. What is to be built is men. God never asked us to build our ministries. Please hear me and hear me well. He asked us to build men and men will build our ministries. Please hear this and please understand that the goal of the minister is not to build his ministry. I know that we use that phrase loosely where we say I'm building my ministry. I'm building my assignment. I'm building my work. And the danger with that is this is that everybody becomes a tool to get your vision met. And that's why a lot of times people burn out in such settings and such systems. Because the goal is I need to build something. But if you study through scriptures, what God actually told us to build is to actually build men. Another way to, to put it is to raise men. I have found out that the real strength of a ministry and the real future of a ministry is the quality of men that are being raised in the ministry. Nothing else determines the future and the sustenance of a ministry. The quality of men that are being raised in the ministry. Now it is easy for us to focus on, I want to build my church. I want to build my ministry. I want to build this and I want to build. But what the scripture shows us is this, is that a minister's priority is to build and to raise men and those that he has built and that he has raised are the ones who will build the work that God has given to him. Let me say it again. That a minister's priority is to build and to raise men and those that he has built are now the ones who will build the work that God has given to him. Build men and the men will in turn build the work. The singular assignment of ministry is to raise men. Now please write this down. The specific product of any ministry, the specific product of any ministry is a transformed and mature believer. I'll show you in scriptures. The specific product. Every industry has a product. Am I right? Every organization has a certain product. When you go to a factory, there are certain products you expect to see from that factory. Am I right? Irrespective of every other thing that you see there, if you don't see this one thing, then you say, oh, they haven't done well because there's something that you genuinely expect to see there. Now ministry, the specific product of ministry is a raised man. Look at Colossians chapter one. Colossians chapter one. And raising people does not happen by chance. There's skill to raising people. Are you still here today? Verse 24. He says, who now rejoices in my sufferings for you and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body, which is the church. Whereof I am made a minister according to the dispensation of God, which is given to me for you. Now I want you to observe Paul's communication. Who is he giving to him for? For them. Are you following this here? He says, which is given to me for who? For you to fulfill the word of God. Look at the next verse. Hold on. Go back to verse 25. Let's read it together. I want you to go. Made a minister according to the dispensation of God, which is given to me for who? For who? For who? For the people. So why does he have a ministry? The people. Look at the next thing he says in verse 26. Quickly. Everybody read. Even the mystery which had been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his sins. Next verse. Quickly. To whom God will make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery amongst the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Verse 28. With a loud voice. Let's read this together. Won't you go? Whom we preach. One in every man, teaching every man in all wisdom that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. Please underline that in your Bible. Perfect in Christ Jesus. What is the assignment? Present every man what? Whether you say I'm an evangelist or whatever it is, he says, what is the goal? What is the goal? The specific product of ministry. To present every man perfect. Now, so even if we gather a hundred, what are we trying to do? Present them perfect. If we gather 10,000, what are we trying to do? Present them what? Perfect. That's the specific product. Look at what he says. Verse 29. Everybody read. Won't you go? Where unto I also labor, striving according to his working, which worketh in me how mightily. So what is my goal? Perfect. Now, if I present every man perfect, day in turn, we'll build the ministry. Day in turn, we'll build the work. It is a misplaced priority when we are trying to build our churches. It is, you see, because what will happen eventually is that you will use people for your vision. And people will burn out after a while. You get what I'm saying? But the way the Bible shows us to do it is that we raise people and then you train them to do the work. Now, what does a raised man look like? When we say a man perfect in Christ, what does he look like? And the reason why I'm answering this question is you don't decide for yourself, oh, this man is perfect in Christ. The Bible shows us exactly what the man perfect in Christ. This is what we are striving at as pastors. When we preach Sunday in Sunday hours, when we have conferences, when we have midweek services, this is what we are trying to achieve. You see, because if you don't know what the goal is, every message is right. If you don't know what the goal is, every program is right. I hope you know. If you don't know what the goal is, you just, I mean, we need to do healing service. We need to do this. We need to do that. If you know what the goal is, then you will know how to structure everything to deliver the goal. But I found out many times, we think that as long as I just, you know, I'm doing ministry, I'm teaching, I'm preaching, I'm doing this, I'm doing that, then the people are being raised. Not necessarily. Not necessarily. There's a system to raising people. Somebody called me one time and then asked me, he said, I interacted with two of your ministers, blah, blah, blah. And then he asked me, he said, they are some of the finest human, finest believers, finest Christians that have, he said, the culture, the way and manner in which, he said, how, he said, what prayer did you pray an address? I said, well, I prayed, but there's a reason. There's an intentional reason. Are you following? He says, you are God's husbandry. Whatever you see, you built. And I'm speaking, coming from a place where I did not know that you can be very gifted and a powerful teacher and you are not raising men. Oh yes. I speak from experience. Powerful teacher. Everybody will say you are the next best thing after sliced bread. And be very careful when people start saying those kind of things. You think it's not entering, it's entering your head. I'm telling you. Oh, let everybody loves it. Whether you, I mean, you can say, everybody loves it. But you have to be careful when people start talking like that. I realize that you can be standing in the fullness of anointings and giftings and you're not raising men. Oh yes. You can be standing in the fullness of anointings. giftings and people have been attracted to you and all the rest and let me tell you something once one wind blows you will realize that you didn't raise men because he raised men at the pillar of a walk are you following what i'm saying the real pillar of a walk is not the set man is the man that he has raised and if you do not know how to raise men exactly let me everybody please if you don't mind please stop right here and look at me it is one of the reasons why today the primary way churches are spread in his franchise system and the franchise system is very simple we will not share pastoral authority and ministerial responsibility we will allow you maintain management responsibility so rather than raising men many things that you see around is managers you get what i'm saying here you get what i'm saying here
Speaker 2you understand what i'm saying so let me
Speaker 1ask you a question ah so let me ask you a question okay if you are close to the christ embassy system once you mention reverend chris do you immediately see all that strong ministers who by themselves can be heads of ministries if they were left to themselves how many do you see several scattered everywhere am i right we have a model of ministry today that raises celebrity set men and we are not raising men when the battle comes we realize that what we put there were hirelings and managers not shepherds because we are not raising men and we are not raising men because it is easier to employ a hireling than raise a shepherd because i'm a young man in ministry there are things i can't say i want to grow old are you following what i've said here so i'll
Speaker 2just keep my mouth shut
Speaker 1um um the most important task the most important product of ministry is raised men everybody look at me this is the proof that you have raised men they can replace you but haven't raised them well enough they will not for when moses hands were weak they were not raised men they were not raised men they were not raised men they were not raised men they did not correct the rod from moses hand and say your hand is tired let's help you hold it they raised moses hands are you still with me today
Speaker 2so how do we raise
Speaker 1men is that a good question if we're asking how do we raise men we may probably ask as well what does he look like when you have raised a man what is the goal because if you don't know the goal remember why is master built and i said the word is sophos which means vision there's something is seen and everything is building is to raise this kind of person you know the difference between paul and peter there is no account of anybody peter raised i hope you know but there are accounts of men that paul raised now what does he look like when you raise a man the first thing obviously is that he has spiritual stature he has spiritual stature and it doesn't end there that's just one part of it he has spiritual stature what do i mean by spiritual stature character character spiritual stature is not first anointing are you following what i'm saying spiritual stature please listen to me it's not first anointing it's character it's not first anointing it's character it's character the character of christ revealed in the lives of these people the second thing about spiritual stature is the ability to use the word of god for themselves please note that i'm not saying anointing yet the ability to use the word of god for themselves any model of ministry where people have to be continually dependent on you for miracles and for sustenance is not a sustainable new testament model are you following what i'm saying that the real model that we have in scriptures is that people are actually raised to be able to use the word of god by themselves to produce results it is beautiful when people start saying when pastor prayed for me miracles happened when i called pastor bam everything changed i went to see pastor he laid hands on me bam pastors sincerely speaking ministers how many of you agree that is sweet you people are not being sincere when they say you know the person is just telling the story everything was going south then there was a grot in my body it was cancer state three but as i just meant pastor he just looked at me he said take it i fell under the power i did a scan and usually you know we pastors we are very humble at that point oh my god glory well let me tell you every time you have that one instance you should have three orders where they said i heard what pastor thought that is a better testimony because you will live longer that way i'm telling you the truth i know the best the one we want is i just put a call through and pass before i even said what i said pastor said hold on what's going on with you what's you're in the hospital get out from there and as i walked i was healed and if you're not careful you start feeding off that thing like cocaine i hope you know that the dependence of the sheep on the shepherd is addiction it has an addictive tendency to it where when nobody has called you you start you start creating ways for people to call you you get what i'm saying here so one of the things you want to achieve in that ministry is getting people by themselves to be able to use the word of god independent of you because one day jesus will be lifted from them if they cannot use the word without him he has not raised men are you following what i'm saying which means if we take you out of the picture will they be able to generate results without you being in the picture that's what you're looking at and this informs the kind of things that you say and the kind of things that you preach are you get what i'm saying so first is spiritual stature that's the first thing and spiritual stature's character the ability to use the word of god and obviously learning how to flow in the spirit that's spiritual stature but that's just one of it number two very important is that you help them walk in their prophetic destiny this is important in raising men one of your jobs is to at close range help people design their prophetic destiny and you're going to help them walk in their prophetic destiny and by prophetic teaching push people into their prophetic destiny i'll explain what i mean by that now what is a prophetic destiny i've shared this several times it is god's plan and agenda for your life god's plan and agenda for your life that's what your prophetic destiny is so i said for example saul um the lawyer as great as he was that was not god's am i right well then paul the apostle was what that's his prophetic destiny if somebody got what i'm saying that many of those who sit in the congregation it is true your interaction with them and the teaching of the word that they'll be pushed into the center of what god wants them to be now look at me here and never forget it every member of your house and your work that is standing in his prophetic destiny is the pillar you need for your work do you get what i'm saying let me give you a practical example so a certain man and i'm not going to mention his name oh you need to pray for me oh you did blah blah blah blah and i'm talking about i'm a ministry gift in this country and beyond far beyond even this country you need to pray for me blah blah blah and then he began to ask a lot of counsel and this is what he said he said i met this person he said and they said oh it's pastor that's my pastor i go to petra i met this person oh i go to petra i met this person i go to petra then he said i met rema at an immigration office or something like that and i didn't know you wanted to jump i met him when i'm immigration or whatever it is i'm saying it publicly now i mean i don't know is the immigration maybe where they're doing visa so i met her there and then i was just how blessed i was probably you have an idea how blessed i was right and then i asked and then she said oh i go to petra and then he said to me he said when i looked at everything i concluded there's something about this man and here's where i'm going to that his conclusion about me was not his interaction with me was his interaction with my products and i hope you know that there are few places you can go but your products will go everywhere so raising your people to stand tall in their prophetic destiny both by personal interactions where you can discern and you stand there as a father to counsel and push people and then by prophetic teaching and that's what every minister of the gospel particularly if you stand behind the pulpit must believe god for prophetic teaching what do i mean by prophetic teaching you are teaching faith and somebody is here in marriage you are teaching are you following what i'm saying you are teaching prosperity and somebody's seeing how they will start their business prophetic teaching you just dive you digress a bit and make a sentence and a question for 20 years in somebody's mind is answered so the first thing is that we are helping build spiritual stature but if it's only spiritual stature we build people will soon be frustrated because the only thing that satisfies anybody is them standing in their purpose and their destiny and every thing you do as a minister must help people stand in their purpose and their destiny look at it the people that are committed to you the most are the people who feel like the moment i joined him my life began to make amends one of my people came to meet me and said i mean the person moved from one state to another to join me another and then she said this is what my my father asked me he said who are the people that followed your pastor said she told one two three said is their life better she said very better he said okay follow him make sure you hear what you say your life will be better too listen that is the solution people are simply asking where are people getting better are you get what i'm saying now if you don't understand this every message passes every every revelation and i hope you know that it's not every relation that is building people like this every revelation will pass you just start teaching things anyhow and sometimes you just start teaching things and you just start teaching things and you just start teaching things deep breath very deep breath but you are not raising people and sometimes i've shared this several times when you are in that zone where you are ministering to people you will sense the anointing of god's spirit upon you and let me quickly say this to us as ministers of the gospel when you sense a move of god don't waste it too many times charismatics and pentecostals don't know how to channel power they don't know how to channel the anointing derek prince said something please listen to me derek prince said this follow this he said he was this was in the 70s or something like that he was praying with a group of students and they were praying they were praying they were praying and they were praying he said the move of god the presence of god's spirit was so strong everywhere scattered and all the rest you know i mean how we would have charismatic moves and all of that then he said something very powerful he said he noticed that his wife was walking towards him and then the wife looked at him and said uh he said to the wife he said you have a word from the lord said oh yes he said and he said before his wife could say it or something like that he said did you have a word this is what the lord said don't waste the anointing or whatever it is like that and so i was wondering what you mean by don't waste the anointing then god told him he said many charismatics know how to stir up that anointing they know how to stir up the move of god but they don't channel it to get results so god told him he said tell the people to stop now begin to intercede for kenya it was kenya now do you know that in east africa the only country that escaped all the terrible ills of you know east africa went through a lot genocide and odious the only country that escaped all the terrible ills of you know east africa went through a lot genocide and odious the only country that escaped it was kenya he said as they began to intercede he saw a vision and he saw horses galloping towards the coast of kenya red horses galloping devils and demons but as they began to pray he began to turn them back turn back in the name of just turn back and then they turned back entered uganda i said why didn't he just pray for them entered rwanda entered all of those places in my mind i said you should also have tasted it in and enter the ocean but here's where i'm going to do you know they would have generated spiritual power but there is no direction sometimes you are preaching i hope you know that teaching and preaching no is enough by the law of confession to stir up the anointing it's the law of confession that when you give attendance to the word and you confess it long enough the anointing starts getting stirred sometimes you would even hear people say i sense the anointing use it use it you find yourself at those points at those moments making some heavy prophetic problems and you're not going to be able to do it you're not going to be able to do it you're not going to be able to do it you're not going to be able to do it you're not going to be able to do it pronouncement i have found out that one heavy prophetic pronouncement will raise somebody in three months teaching will need three years to do it can i say what i just said again that the way one of the ways to raise people you teach you i'm not saying don't but i'm saying that once you sense the anointing use it to make men use it to raise men you release the word there and i found out the moment you release this then sometimes you even see a picture of somebody all of a sudden you say oh james come here you are saying oh james come here but you don't know what you're going to say to him next as he comes close to you give a word of to you get what i'm saying here on that that anointing you have to understand the power of prophetical trances prophetic teaching and prophetical trances that's how you raise men oh i mean here in petra i can point to people that will tell you that oh pastor just called me out oh this just happened oh that just happened and what was i do i was intentional to direct the anointing to raise men does somebody follow what i'm saying so you don't pray generic prayers you don't just say you are all blessed i stand here in the fullness of my office i decree and i declare every one of you as you step out into the week angels please no i'm not i'm not wait wait i'm not i'm not i just it's illustration but hear me and hear me well angels will attend to you this week whatever you called difficult has become easy whatever hear me whatever land whatever city
Speaker 3where you have toyed and labored i stand here in the fullness of this office i decree and i declare
Speaker 4let the reign of heaven begin and let the reign of heaven begin and let the reign of heaven begin to fall over the land in the mighty name of jesus
Speaker 3god himself will amplify your
Speaker 4name he will amplify your voice in the mighty name of jesus
Speaker 5come on pray in the holy ghost wherever you are come on pray in the holy spirit wherever you are pray in the holy ghost wherever you are pray in the holy ghost wherever you are hallelujah hallelujah i'm seeing ministers of the gospel who literally feel like there's an attack on me
Speaker 1on their minds there's an attack on your mind there's an attack on your mind there's an attack on your mind and it's first the attack of lost on your mind they attack and you know what i'm talking about you know that this is not just temptation or whatever it is it's an attack on your mind it's an attack on your mind now i lay my hands upon you in the name that
Speaker 3is above every name i decree and i declare that thou foul oppressive spirits i command you to lose your hold now
Speaker 1i command liberty
Speaker 3and freedom clarity of thoughts in the name of jesus thank you heavenly father
Speaker 1please sit down for a bit please sit down for a bit so number one is spiritual stature that's the first thing and that's that's the most important part spiritual stature number two is walking in their prophetic destiny and you use three tools for that prophetic teaching private mentorship and interactions with the people and impartations and prophetical trances that's how you raise people and move people into their prophetic destiny number three commissioning them for their harvest and this is important don't just raise people because what happens here is this people develop spiritual stature people begin to grow all right they're entering into their prophetic destiny god is doing great and mighty things with them but you're not intentional to help them see that the reason for all of this is the harvest and the kingdom you see one of the things you must be not be afraid of is to place demands of commitment on people jesus said to people follow me if you believe you have something then tell them follow me are you following what i'm saying so you commission people for the harvest don't allow people just become all that they are becoming you know greatness they are being blessed influence increasing and you are not helping them see that all of this is for what the harvest three things you're doing number one you're helping them develop spiritual stature number two is what helping them walk in their prophetic destiny and number three you're equipping them for the harvest now what is the tool that you use for this or better still what does your teaching curriculum look like because if you're raising people then you must have it you must have a system you must know what you are sharing with people what is it that the people must be hearing what are you feeding the people with number one doctrine doctrine all right that's what develops spiritual stature in people doctrine you're teaching them the foundational principles of god's word the doctrine of christ and all of the rest but i've said it over and over again that when a pastor a minister teaches only doctrine you will raise very very worded people but they will have a lot of problems in their lives they will have a lot of challenges in their lives that at some point will undermine the way they have believed are you following what i'm saying so you teach doctrine but the number two thing you teach is wisdom very important now what is wisdom doctrine is a system of truth number two is wisdom wisdom is practical truth for daily living this is where you look at the application of the word of god to the lives of the people the application of the word of god to the lives of the people let me say this to us well whether you like it or not people only receive the truth to the level that they think they need it are you following what i'm saying let me say what i'm saying again people will only receive the truth to the extent that they think that they need it so you must ensure that what you're teaching people there's an element of wisdom and application there where people are being taught how to use the word of god for their daily lives to get victory in their daily lives is somebody getting what i'm saying now however if you build your entire ministry on that you're going to have practical people pragmatic people who lack spiritual depth have you met believers like that very pragmatic believers very practical believers sound guys but they lack spiritual debt they cannot pray out the power of god if there's a problem do you understand what i'm saying do you understand what i'm saying what i'm saying but they know the seven steps to build a business by the word of god they know how to have a healthy home and things like that but they don't have the depth that doctrine brings because it's depth is doctrine that brings depth and maturity are you following what i'm saying but you can have somebody so what dead and i'm sure you've met such people as well they are so ordered but they are not useful in their own life they don't have the wisdom for practical living so whatever you teach you must have the element of you must have the element of what wisdom and then lastly this is an interesting one traditions yes if you lead any organization a christian organization every organization must have its own traditions what we call cultures you see because every vision that god gives a man there are certain cultural values that are required to deliver on that vision now look at me here everybody tell me one supernatural ministry you see because every vision that god gives a man there are certain cultural values that are required to deliver on that vision now look at me here everybody tell me one supernatural ministry strong healing ministry that is not built on the culture of honor you can't find i hope you know there are places where they may even speak against at this one that they are doing blah blah blah blah go and check those places there's no supernatural there because a prerequisite for the supernatural is honor if you cannot hear me you cannot have a certain level of supernatural demonstrations and power without a culture of honor it's not possible you cannot have a certain level of supernatural it's not possible if people receive you as the pastor as oh that guy man when he teaches is a solid guy if that's what they receive you as cancers will not disappear out of their body it's not possible but when they enter and they say if i may just sit down here and if this man just opens his mouth and prays to god do you get what i'm saying here i hope you know that that's the difference between everybody that was in the crowd and the woman with the issue of blood that everybody saw him as great man great rabbi great this great death but she said if i may touch the aim of his garment which means honor precedes the supernatural that's why he could dare do no mighty works for no man is with honor in his own what country honor is a culture for the supernatural so it means that if god has given you a supernatural ministry you cannot join twitter and instagram to start saying things like you know this culture is african culture you are destroying your assignments a teacher who does not believe that god has given him a supernatural ministry and sometimes they will even say things and you'll hear them say it and you just shake your head that no you can say this because you don't require this in the assignment god has given you is somebody getting what i'm saying so what are the cultural values that must support the vision and the assignment that god has given you what are the cultural values my friend told me something one day we're talking together one day and i saw it years ago in the 90s bishop came out and said it was on a saturday it was in sunday service and whatever you think about it does really does not matter all right came out and said he said god told me it's time for us to have the aircraft this is in the 90s even if you are angry with anything let it stay your faith to think that somebody could believe for something at that level in the 90s are you following what i'm saying in the 90s and then he came out on a saturday and he said god said it's time to take the offering for it and these were his words they took the offering only once and they bought their first aircraft do you know when you hear that story what people will say the bishop has great faith but i hope you know great faith without a culture of liberality and generosity that the most liberal ministry that i knew in the 90s was the living faith church i did not know anybody like them they were all around me and you see them carry their televisions no if you are not in the 90s you won't understand what i'm talking about you will see them carry their televisions you will see them carry their three um city and everything to church i had never seen a people that liberal in my entire life never seen a people that liberal so a man comes out and says god said it's time to take it you have not trained your people to be liberal and to be generous but you say you have heard god let me tell you what you hear what you heard from god will start and end with you not because god did not speak to you but there is no culture to support the instruction is somebody following what i'm saying here so you can be teaching depth of word depth of word depth of word and you're wondering why you're not able to achieve certain things in your life and ministry because there's an element of your teaching and training which is what culture and traditions ask yourself always what kind of cultural values is needed for the assignment that god has given me and you can't be quiet about it you must structure it into a curriculum a way of teaching it consistently remind the people that you're teaching the people because that's how you raise people that's how you raise people you're intentionally about the diet that you're communicating to the people of god hallelujah number one i said to us three questions that the master builder must answer what are the three questions what is to be built and what is the answer men number two how is it to be built and then number three what are the tools to be to be used in it sincerely speaking i thought that i was going to be able to cover these three tonight but we'll take it up from here tomorrow morning i don't know if you got anything tonight now it's okay to clap now um tomorrow morning we're going to have i think four or five plenary sessions so we're going to start a bit earlier for the bulk of things that we need to cover tomorrow morning we're going to start at 8 a.m and we're going to end at 12 noon and then we get a break and rest and then we come back by 5 p.m um we have two word sessions tomorrow evening as well we have five plenary sessions in the morning and then we have two word sessions in the evening and so please make sure that you make arrangements you're in early enough 8 a.m and then we move on from there tomorrow evening um i'll take time to answer a few questions after the teaching i want us to be done with the teaching and then we'll answer a few questions shall we rise upon our feet let's lift our hands towards heaven and thank the lord for his word let's give him praise
Speaker 2if you have received anything from the lord please open your mouth and thank him and bless him give him the glory and thank him father we bless you father we bless you father we bless you father we thank you and we give
Speaker 1you the glory now whatever it is that you have received from the lord receive grace now to make the adjustments whatever instruction receive grace to make the adjustments that is required pastors can we pray let's pray let's pray let's pray let's pray lift
Speaker 2your hands close your eyes ministers of gospel please pray please pray I don't know what adjustments, what instructions you received tonight.
Speaker 1Receive grace tonight. Receive grace. Grace for fellowship to get back into the secret place. The wisdom to build. Grace to raise men. Grace to raise men. Grace to raise men. In the name of Jesus we have prayed. Amen. David killed only one Goliath. His mighty men killed all the other four brothers of Goliath. You are not meant to do everything. You are meant to do something to inspire others to rise up and build with you and do it with you. The problem many times is that we think we are the ones that are to do everything. No, your job is to raise men to do the work. I will never forget that day. Two instances I've had with the Lord. Encounters with the Lord. Number one. It was February. Um. Pastor Noel is not here. But it was Pastor Noel. I don't remember the second. I think it was Dan. Pastor Dan. That was praying with me in my house in Abuja at the time. My office in Abuja. And this was February that year. February 12 or February 13 that year if I if I remember 2021, 2022. And I was reading a book. My heart hungry for the supernatural. And literally the Lord walked into my room as it were. I knew that the Lord was with me in that place. I don't know if you were there Pastor Joseph. I knew. You're okay you were there. The Lord was with me. I mean I was kneeling by my desk. By my little desk in my office there. And I heard the word of the Lord. He said. He said as a man with two hands. He said in the same way. He said that which is called the working of miracles and that which is called the gifts of healing. I have now placed in your hands. He said. And every time there's a need for it. And the occasion arises. He says you can always I mean apply to the needs of the people. Then he added something. This is where I'm going to. He says and not only that. I have given you the grace to communicate it. I'll never forget that. Later that same year the Lord came into that same place. I was by myself. Just studied. This was in the evening. This was earlier in the day. And the Lord said to me. He said that which is called the grace to raise men in my word. He said it is now yours. The truth be told. The legacy of this house is men that were raised. And as I stood here. The Lord reminded me. He said I have given you the ability to communicate it. And so for everyone under the sound of my voice who is desirous. For everyone under the sound of my voice. Who is believing God. To raise men. Not just preach good sermons. Not just plant cute churches. But to raise men. To raise giants for God. I stand here being a recipient and a beneficiary of grace. I decree and I declare. Let the grace to make men now rest in the mighty name of Jesus. Let me tell you one of the first things that will happen. You will start having discernment. You will look at people that don't look like it but you will see something that others are not seeing. They may be in depth. They may be distressed. But you will say I see something here. Now let that discernment
Speaker 3now rest in the mighty name of Jesus. I decree as you open your mouth to speak from men's forth. The hearts of men will be stirred. You will call out greatness from people in the mighty name of Jesus. As you leave this place.

Podcast Summary

Key Points:

  1. The speaker argues that the greatest challenge in the body of Christ today, especially in Nigeria, is that ministers have lost sight of the fundamentals of ministry.
  2. A genius is defined as someone who has mastered the fundamentals, and lasting ministers are those who never consider themselves too mature for the basics.
  3. The first fundamental is that God is the source of ministry, and this dependence is expressed primarily through the minister's personal prayer life, since prayer is itself ministry rather than merely an aid to ministry.
  4. The second fundamental is that Christ and him crucified is the only foundation of ministry, so every minister must personally understand and clearly present the gospel message that leads to salvation.
  5. The third fundamental is the labor of ministry, since whatever is a discipline for the believer must become labor for the minister, requiring impeccable work ethics.
  6. The minister's labor should be structured around four tasks
  7. The fourth fundamental is the honor of ministry, meaning every minister must recognize that God has called them and that they have something unique to offer that no one else can offer.
  8. The fifth fundamental is that the object of ministry is people, and the specific product of ministry is a transformed, mature believer presented perfect in Christ.

Summary:

FAQs

The most important fundamental is that God is the source of ministry. Anything outside complete dependence on God, reflected in the minister's personal prayer life, is not true ministry.

Prayer is ministry itself, not merely something that aids ministry. It is the highest and loudest expression of a minister's utter dependence on God.

The foundation of ministry is Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Every minister must clearly understand and present the gospel so that people come to the saving knowledge of Christ.

Souls are the priority that anchors a minister's heart. Once a minister's focus shifts away from souls, mundane issues and personal promotion become priorities instead.

A minister should structure life around ministry to the Lord, ministry to people, personal development, and organizational leadership. These must be intentional and consistent, not left to chance.

The specific product of ministry is a transformed and mature believer, presented perfect in Christ Jesus. Ministers are called to build and raise men, and those men will in turn build the work.
