Thank you to Quince for sponsoring this portion of today's episode. Let me tell you the seasons are changing. It's starting to be time that we can get out our denims again. We can get out our sweaters and there is no better place than Quince. So many of the things I'm constantly reaching for in my closet to layer up, dress up, dress down, come from Quince because they have very, very high quality products. I'm talking 100% Mongolian cashmere. They have silk organic cotton wool. They have those premium fabrics but at an amazing price. Everything at Quince is actually priced 50 to 80% less than similar brands and that is because they work directly with ethical factories, cutting out the middle man so you're paying for high quality, not brand markup. Actually just last night Matt was telling me that he grabbed his shorts. I don't fit my clothes. I've been hitting the gym and so I need new clothes. He bought me Quince swim trunks that are really high quality. I wear them all the time when we go on the pool with the boys. I'm excited to see which he picks out from Quince for me next. Your nice khaki shorts are from Quince. With the khaki that I wear like literally every day. Yep. Those are from Quince. You don't even know where your clothes are from but if you had to guess they're probably from Quince because I love shopping their min section as well for Matt. You can wear them in many different ways for many different seasons. Find your next fall favorites at Quince. Download the Quince app for app exclusive offers or go to Quince.com. It's the best way to support the show. You do lots of PDA. Our PDA has like really come down like really a lot. Think about like low and then think about like way lower. Matt handles all the finances. I started scheduling monthly budget meetings with Abby and she just wouldn't show up. I just have been busy at that time. Matt thinks the family is complete but Abby wants two more kids. Would you be excited at the possibility of having eight children? It's enough enough. This one says Matt is always first to apologize. Why are you guys trying to get us to fight with each other? What the frick? What would you say about that? I'm gonna let you take this one. No, that's your first. Two, one. What's up dudes? And welcome back to unplanned. Yeah. Someone told me that they were so sad that we don't say what's up dudes anymore so that was for you. I feel like we're always on this teeter-totter of we're doing it. We're not doing it. We're doing it. We're not doing it. That was for anybody that's been here since we lived in our apartment. That's for you guys. Yep. You guys, we are addressing assumptions about us today. I feel like you guys had so many wild ones. We're gonna have to be careful with this. I know. I know, right? You can read us like a book honestly. But we did realize that Abby's grandma does listen to our podcast quite a bit actually and so I feel like we got to keep that in mind while we record today. Hopefully she just listens to the interviews. One of our old videos popped up from me the other day and it was like one of the juicy questions of one and one's and I clicked on it and the intro. I was just like delete it. Delete it now. I was like oh my gosh. I know when are we gonna start pulling? Yeah let's pull that one. Whatever it was. If you're reacting like that then that's making me concerned. It's it's spooky but at the same time I was scrolling the other day and I saw that we had a video it says topless for 24 hours. Oh no. Yeah. Shirtless for 24 hours. We did that. We should archive that. I already archived that. Okay. Good. Why didn't pop up always because I said something. I you said something and then I archived that one. Just looking at it is just like yeah maybe not anymore. Maybe not. Anyway. People are like no regrets. I'm like no I got a couple. You guys for sure I would I would revise a couple things. I had so much fun going on our first outing/date/double-date without anybody but just us and our friends. I know. It felt like we were in high school. It was like such a crazy. It was shocking. You know I love that. So for anybody that didn't know we've been doing some road trips to California. We did a trip to Newport. Then we just went did a trip to Disneyland with our friends and our babies and our kids and it was hectic but then even though we were so tired at eight o'clock we took the 815 shuttle. Yeah honestly eight o'clock is the new midnight. Especially when you're at Disneyland with your kids. Seriously. I was like you're we almost didn't go and I will be honest it was I was the problem. I was just like feeling so anxious to leave Fisher. Which it's okay like part of me when you were feeling so anxious. I was like man I I'm not going to push this because like if you're mother if you're motherly instincts telling you that you got to be I know with your baby every minute of the day. It was telling me that. Which is fine. I guess the way how did I describe it. Oh I was like hey babe you record two and a half hour always here episodes. I know. Let's just be gone from our kids for two and a half hours. Yeah. So we can do something together. Well also that was we left at 815. He goes to bed at nine. So it was really like he was only awake for 45 minutes but I don't know it was just I had to break the seal. Yeah. He's over two months now and I mean I just nursed him and then we left and then we also left him with a bottle. And we were gone 815 to 1145 so really we were gone barely over how long you record the always here podcast episode. And my mom did a great job. She held it down. Our boys were like all the kids were asleep. Yeah. All the kids were asleep. She just gave Fisher a bottle. So that was amazing. Yeah. So it was really good to break that seal. I feel like that was more so me just like yeah having a little anxiety. I did we did go down the elevator. We went out into the lobby turned around back in the elevator. We're with a random stranger. Back out the elevator. We were going to do it. And we almost missed the shuttle. But we made it. Yeah. And we made it to Disney. And it was it was fun. We were with another one of our friends. And how did you feel about how long the wait time were though for the rides at that time of night? I thought we were going to have like the park to ourselves. I have to tell you you know why we didn't get to do as much. What? It's because I was not being the tour guide. I had checked. I had I was off the clock. Oh. But if you would have put me back on the clock. That's true. I don't want to put I don't want to put you back on the clock. I know I honestly just want to turn my brain off and let someone else make decisions but it was it was a little difficult. We just rode because I was like this isn't this isn't strategic. Yeah. But that's okay. Not yeah. Not strategic. I could be a VIP ride when you really think about it. That's your future career. Will we ever pay for a VIP tour? One day. Okay. I don't know. That's just one thing. I'm like I would love to do that for my parents because there's such Disney adults like here's the problem. That would be that would be like wow we made it. Here's why we can't do have you a VIP tour. We can't do a VIP tour right now because it is so expensive and we go to Disney so much. So like right now with the frequency at which we go to Disney we need to keep it at park passes and maybe an Airbnb like we're not staying on property. We're not doing any VIP tours. If we went like if we went once even once a year if we just went once a year maybe we could do the VIP tour but without much we go then it's going to be like I don't want to do it for I mean I want to do it obviously but also that it does determine a little bit it's because it draws attention. True and I will say we had the season passed so it's not like we're just like going crazy on Disney like we had we could go as many times we wanted basically yeah so we might as well use it and we did use it well yeah but I think like once you go once you take the step in the VIP tour direct like direction I don't see how you could enjoy Disney without it anymore. No I did have a VIP tour one time and I'm just fine. I feel like it would mess me up I would just want that every time. You might get spoiled yeah you are a little bit more of a diva than I am. And our kids are also so like they wouldn't even appreciate it so right now it's tempting though because right now the queuing lines usually are just a hair longer than our kids bladders can hold it for so that would be a perk. I loved how much fun they had at the playground area in Toontown because yeah but it's so stressful. Well yes I know it's like hectic but I just think it's hilarious how our kids enjoy the simplest things like one of their friends didn't even want to do any of the rides he just wanted to hang out and play at the playground in Toontown. They said they liked the park better than Disney. So funny. Just a classic kid quote but no we had a really good time we really jam packed it we sent it so hard and our kids had a great time we had a great time just watching them have a good time isn't that crazy how that happens. You would ask me so often you're being sweet but you're like what do you want to do I'm like I haven't thought about that for one second like I just want to do what the kids want to do it was really fun taking them on the actual rides this time yeah because we did as an entire family wait were you know it's with my mom that time it was with my mom because you were holding fish you were feeding fish her but we did um guardians of the galaxy mission impossible or mission whatever it's called you always call mission impossible I just like breakout mission breakout I just break out whatever it is we like like our kids still I think we're a little scared but my mom and I my mom and I really enjoyed it both boys were like like just grappling on to the both of us just so nervous but then afterwards they're like that was amazing I want to do it again I that was so cool I love guardians like that's cute it was just fun it was a great time and we drove six hour road trip it only took us nine hours no problem awgi is 40 inches so he could ride literally every ride at the park except for what's the one ride Indiana Jones it's like that one and like one other one goofy sky school that one that's so random because every ride is 40 inches except those two I don't know why and oh the incrediblester oh yeah that one too um but it was really fun well you guys let's go into these wait I think you can also say that our babies slept through the night he yeah he's two months old
It was really sweet because I like woke up at 515, which at this point, we have almost, we've always been up before then to do a feed. And it was 515 and Matt was like hovering over the bass and then like checking and make sure he was breathing, which was really sweet. And he said that he was like kind of squirming. - He kind of like moved around. - He kind of moved around a little bit. And so he like was checking on and I kinda like, did we talk then or no? - I don't think we did. - I think we're both just like, you don't wanna risk waking him up. Because for us, like the day starts at 6, like he wakes up after 6, like I'm gonna start his day. That's kind of like what we've always done with our kids. And so I was like, man, if we can make it to 6, then he's done it. From 9 to 6, he slept. That was amazing. - Yeah, high five. - It felt really weird. It felt really weird this morning. Like we're like, what just happened? - Yeah. And then I just, and I just realized this morning how big he's gotten. - Yes. - Two inches in a month. - He's already up to 13 pounds, over 13 pounds, gained almost five pounds since he was born. - Yeah. - So. - He's doing great. - Big boy. Yeah, growing great. - He looks like his dad. - I'm crazy. - Yeah, I think he does. He has your eyes. - I think our first two kids look like carbon copies of Abby. And then I think our third looks like me. So maybe there's something to having like an age gap, like having a slight gap between our second and our third. - That batch of cells was a little different. - Yeah, they just rearranged, you know? - They rearranged. They made a different version. This is 2.0. - Okay, some of y'all really said that with these. So we'll see about what we're keeping in and we're keeping out with this episode. - Let me paint a picture for you guys. We are in the airport as two people with a total of four hands, but we have two, four, six hands to corral and a whole lot of luggage. - Yeah. - And certainly no room for a coffee. And then race that picture, draw a new one with no bull in it. No bull has thought of seriously everything you guys. They actually completely removed the zipper on their suitcases. It's zipperless with a latch hook suitcase that closes like a safe. The two halves meet with a tight seal you hear and feel the click when it locks. - The built-in charging port keeps your phone alive at the gate so no more crouching next to a random outlet. - Now I get to have my airport coffee and that makes my travel days so much better because they have a flip out cup holder. Every suitcase comes with 100 day money back guarantee and free three day express shipping. And did we mention it has a lifetime warranty? It's the last suitcase you'll ever need to buy. The first assumption that we have today is you did not wait six weeks after birth for adult time. Wow, people really just think we're a bunch of animals out here. - They didn't wait, so they didn't think we waited six weeks. - They just think that we can't keep our hands off each other. - We would never do that. We actually totally did not. - We did not do that. - Like not even, it wasn't even a phone in my head. - Why did we just make it look like that we did? - Because we wouldn't be cool, but we're not. - Yeah, we're not that cool. - There was relatively negative 5% of hanky-panky going on in those six weeks. - I will say, it always fascinates me. Like, I legitimately have no thought of anything remotely close to that for the first week. Because you're just like-- (laughing) - Oh my gosh. - I thought you were gonna say six weeks. - Did you do that on purpose? - Yeah, you're sick for your weekend. (laughing) - My like lung is hurting right now. The one that was bothering me over here. - I'm a hero sauce for the first week. - I'm a dude, I'm a dude though, and I feel like for a dude to have that log of a break from that. - That log. - Yes, a week is a long time. (laughing) - What's your typical goal? - And then after that, you gotta just keep it to yourself, you know? - Exactly. - I just kept it to myself. - Wow, that's exactly right. - Because I'm not gonna, we're not gonna defy the doctor's orders, you know? - Yes. - And honestly, your brain wasn't even close to being there in that park. - Not even a little bit. Not even, I actually forgot to think about you in general for our six weeks. - And you know what, that's part of the survival system. Yeah, that's biology. - Yes, that's the mammal in me. - Yeah. - I was like, who the heck is that guy? (laughing) - Yeah, no, there was no thoughts. We absolutely followed those orders to a C. - Yeah, yeah. And I'm trying to think about what to say. - Yeah, definitely no favors. Gosh, we're just answering this one completely now, aren't we? - We can move on. - We just fully answer that. - I just don't want any other wife to feel a bad. - Wow, there was nothing going on. - Did we just seriously say all that in your grandma listens to our phone? - I don't think she's listening to this episode. - Okay, let's hope not. - Let's do this one. Matt is a sleep fighter. Look how professional it says. And that's why Abby would sleep separately. Well, first of all, there's two assumptions there. One of them is completely wrong and one of them is correct. - Which one's correct? - You do fart a lot in your sleep. Toot, I will give you their tips. Not in your sleep, but me, I would never sleep separately by choice. Ever, never, never. - Oh, yeah. - I actually came and followed sleep and less Matt's in the bed. - That was like one of those, sometimes you post videos and you have no idea like what's gonna hit the algorithm or what's gonna go viral. And I feel like the separate sleep stuff, I think just because-- - That one really landed with some people. - It really landed and it got the internet talking and then, you know, like there's just like so much to do with that where we just kept talking about it and it became like a thing. Like now I think-- - Well, you did. We did sleep separate for that like short season. - Yeah, we've slept separately. I think the longest stretch that we've slept separately is like maybe 10 days. - Yeah. - Right? Like have we ever gone more than 10 days without sleeping? - I don't think so. - So that's just one of those things where we like talked about it and for some reason it just like blew up. And I don't know. - But I will say, it says, and that's why Abby would sleep separately and the answer is, no, I can't even fall asleep until Matt's in bed. And so sometimes Matt, this is the reality. If Matt's not tired and ready to go to bed but I am, usually I'll just stay up or Matt will lay in bed with me until I fall asleep and then he'll go and do whatever he's got to do. - Yeah, also I think was really funny with that with the whole sleeping separately thing. One of, I think it's like one of our most viral TikToks is Abby doing her makeup and talking about how we sleep in separate beds. Now it's been better for her postpartum. This is from like three years ago. The entire internet was just like, yes queen. Go off girl, like that is like respect yourself. And then I made some videos about me sleeping in separate bed from Abby like two years ago. And everyone was like, if this guy, he's horrible, I hate it, he's a bad husband. - There's a double standard for sure. - So I think there's some people out there that just don't like men. - Well, I just watched the manus fear documentary. So I think it goes both ways. - That's probably why, that's the manus fear documentary. I wanna watch the manus fear documentary now. I'm curious, you acted like it was-- - I can't stop talking about it. - It told me it was really good. - I thought it was a well done documentary. Like the documentary work itself was really good. - Really rewatch it with me? - Because it was unconventional way to do it. Yeah. - He like asked really uncomfortable questions and they were not liking it at all and he kept pressing. - Dang. - Like for me, I could just simply never do that. I would, I would be swallowed up by the couch. It would be, I couldn't exist. - Okay, next one, Abby is the boss and Matt says yes for the, I'm not gonna read that last word. - No one's gonna know what they mean. - Okay. - Romance, I'm gonna just say that. - Okay. - It's sex. That's what it says. - Abby is the boss and Matt says yes for the sex. - I'm the boss, but Matt will do anything. We'll do anything. - That's the reward. - Yeah. - That's what they're assuming. - Yeah. - Honestly. (laughing) - You're not wrong, you're not wrong. - That's pretty accurate. - Just tell me what I got to do. - Is that not how other people do things? - Is that not how your household is run? - No. - Man. - No, Matt, you're, okay, wait. Let's start with, we know, okay. Am I the boss? - 100%. (laughing) - Maybe. - Honestly, it's just easy. - It's just easier, it's just easier that way. - Wait, it's just so much easier, you know? - I just, yeah. - Do you like it that way or do you like what I'm changing? Can we switch, do you want to switch that? - It's just easier, you know? I just like whatever, it's just not worth it. - Sorry. - Just try to be the boss. - What do you mean it's not worth it? - Happy, like every old dude that we meet, when we're at airports and we meet these like old couples, every single one of them goes happy, wife, happy life. - Okay, wait, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You always call that out to me. - Yeah, I'm always like, hey, no, no, no, no. - You put that out, basically saying, this is how this is gonna work, Mattie. (laughing) - This is how we're gonna make it to anniversary 50. - Yeah. - You do what I say. (laughing) - No, I think that we are both the boss in our own areas. For the real answer, like we're both the boss in our own areas and we've kind of just like really sifted out what each other's lane is. And if there's over cross, like overlapping, I've just found that that's where we have the most conflict, where it's like who's the boss of this area?
And so once we've hash out like who's the boss of that area. It's like a lot easier We have our own lanes Totally who's the who's the bot? Who's the boss? Who's the majority owner me? What I am the majority owner of the company of our life I Yeah, yeah, I could see that no, I think that yeah, I think we split it pretty well Yeah, no, that's not giving clearance. I think it just depends on the season of life that way That's true. Sometimes one person has to give Six we also both have different capacities like yeah, it's true like yeah, that's true Yeah, it's also a fact and different strengths So there there is that are like my strengths. I feel like I take ownership of the What areas are your strengths? You take ownership of this one this one's already you guys are trying to get us a fight today And you know what we're gonna have a good day today Why aren't you guys trying to get us this what says Matt is always first to apologize Why are you guys trying to get us to fight with each other? What the frick who sent that in how would you respond? Well, what would you say? No, I asked you first. I just wanted to know what you'd say I do not think that's the case that I'm not the first to apologize. No We are not gonna let you guys let us get into a disagreement right now. Okay. I also just Impulsively say I'm sorry and just like a people like stop saying you're sorry. No We're not fighting today. I'm not fighting today guys. Say you're sorry. Sorry. Okay. See I'm sorry. No. I'm sorry. Why are you sorry for? So no, Matt's not always the first to apologize And someone who you ask All right next up we got You do lots of pda I feel like that's I feel like yet. Yes kind of like I think How are we supposed to know? I think we pda more than the average couple, but I feel like our pda has like really come down Really a lot Like it was here and we're like We're so low now. Yeah, like really like think about like low and then think about like way lower When we do it way way worse, sir. It's way weirder Abby's pointed out to be how I'm an awkward kisser Something I gotta work on but I never know where you're going Maybe it's just because you're a foot shorter than me. Yes, I think that is a part of it. Like do I like squat right now? Path I need a flight pattern. Yeah, I know we just Were there's such a high different maybe we should just get you like a little step stool for when we kiss each other We can that'll can like put us at. I know. Okay. I'll just take that around with being public No, I don't know. How do you think we pda? Oh, not as good as these two. Okay, yes, that's what we told it Yeah, we I would say we probably pda more than average Matt can pick up items off the floor with his toes And Abby is the one that taught him how that is really weird, but I I actually do know how to I Use my toes and I do too and I'm disturbed that We want a lot about the whole part about you teaching me how did you like pick up stuff my toes? I think this is a fantasy for this person. I don't really get that Can you explain that to me because I feel like it's grown over my head for some reason. I don't understand There's nothing to get. I'm a little concerned too. I'm like does this have some sort of weird innuendo I said it feeling this is a fantasy for them. Gosh This one says Griffin is in charge. No our kids are not in charge Our kids are not in charge, but it is we have to actively work against it Yeah, they do want to be they do try to rise up against us. Yeah, and call the shots every single day You know, I've been having this like dilemma in my head recently. I'm like we are so Like I want to make our kids life so good, but then I also worry that if we make Life so so good and we don't have them ever have to overcome any challenges or obstacles and I'm like did they learn? how to be resilient and push you hard things? Yeah, I thought about that today because he wanted One of our kids wanted to take in Chino's hot fries Into the doctor's office, and I was like first of all you don't eat those They were in her car because someone gave them to us. Oh, yeah, and then he just decided that he loves them He's never had them in his life. He's like no, but I love him He kept saying that and then I was like you can't bring those into the doctor's office And then I just realized I was like, is this why all the kids were crying at the doctor's office? This was just one of the times so all the kids were crying at the doctor's office and I was like man, it'd be so much easier to just give him his way right now, but then I really thought about it. I was like He's gonna have to overcome this He's got to overcome this big challenge, which it's to be fair that is like in his head. This was like The most important thing in the world. Yeah, so I had to remember how serious it was for him I was like man, it'd be so much easier to just open up these hot fries, let him try him and know that They're terrible Well, if you're three years old Anyway, um No, our kids are not in charge even though it's very tempting to let them be in charge because I just feel like there'd be a lot less friction and back and forth Don't share a feeling that'd be easier No, cuz then I think if you if you take the easy rate if you take the easy way out early on you have a monster You're gonna have a monster kid. Yeah I mean we're always like man, I'm so sorry. This is a bummer I want you to get everything you want, but this is just not allowed and I'm really glad I So weird like for the longest time I thought that we had homeschool our kids and so our kids being in school right now is throwing me But I think it's really really good for them. I think it's good for them to learn to respect at the word you That's not us. I think it's good for them to be around other kids and not only all of that, but also learn things like It's great. I love that. I love that we have educated young men in this house Highly educated highly educated Highly intellectual yeah, this episode is sponsored by better help There are plenty of reasons we put off getting support and for a lot of people cost is one of them But with better help insurance options may now be available nationwide with an average copay for eligible members of just $23 per session and while we're reconsidering old assumptions Maybe there aren't just a few others worth questioning too one thing that I used to believe that I no longer believe is that It was never okay to take time for myself as a mom I always felt guilty about having the kids be with someone else so I could go do a therapy session or even just take a bath I have seen so many benefits from having individual therapy during different seasons of my life I have so much better emotional regulation and anger management thanks to therapy It's just helping me be a better version of myself every single day And I personally really believe in better help if you've been wanting to start therapy Better help works with more than 125 different health plan networks and eligible members have an average copay of just $23 per session with insurance don't have insurance or live outside the US You can still get 10% off your first month if you visit betterhelp.com/unplanpodcast to explore your payment options That's better help.com/unplanpodcast Um, this one says Matt takes longer to get ready Why where would that come from? No, you don't take longer than me, but I don't really take that long anymore I just don't look very good anymore I can get ready really fast and I feel like it's just a A Bride product of having ADHD like I think you kind of just have to because I put things off to the last minute and then I'll you don't have much to do That's also true like my I don't I don't have makeup to do hair I have to wash my hair and shave my legs like that's gonna take some that's gonna really up my Up my get ready time. I like keeping my hair short because it's just easier To to do in the morning. It's like what you had to do all this Not a lot of work Have you a lot? Yeah Um, no, Matt does not take longer to get ready. That would be absolutely crazy crazy Even though I don't take that long. I literally do my makeup in the kitchen basically every day Matt's the kind of guy to pour his milk and then the cereal I actually have done that a bit more Recently, I used to I thought that was so weird and I think when I learned that some people did that I was like that's freaking psycho and then every once in a while I do it that way just to switch it up a little bit I just know you can actually yeah, especially if I'm using like a protein milk if I'm using Fair life and that one for whatever like that one has extra protein, and so I guess I want to know Oh, okay. Yeah, if I'm measuring it. No, Matt surely does things different than the average person a weird Abbey wishes Matt was more handy probably 100% actually. Yeah, I wish I was more handy. Yeah, we just need one of us to be more handy Yeah, like honestly, I feel like we're doing a big task and we have to get a screwdriver out to change batteries on a kids toy I'm like wow, here we go. See like Bob the builder. I will say That no longer feels like a big task after doing some more handy things that I've done. Okay. Yeah We have those hooks that you can hang in our mud room that have been there for a couple of months. Oh, yes Does that feel heavy? Maybe we should hire someone No, I told your brother that I was hiring someone and he's like do not hire someone to hang those hooks And he's like I will do it and then he never did it so or he was like make Matt do it What's the what's the line from the for Christmas's movie where the guys like I'm not gonna let a sex predator into my house To the cable for the cable television gosh, I can't wait to watch that movie this season. It's almost time, but like It's almost Christmas time. Um, yeah, I wish my dad was more handy. I wish I was more handy I wish my dad was more handy. I'm not handy. Either dad is dead. So we're kind of screwed
- You know? - Blake is kind of handy. - A little bit, my brother is really handy. - Your brother's really handy. - I'm actually probably the least handy of the males. - Your dad is, your dad is handy. - He likes to paint his own house. - I thought that was generational. - My dad paints literally painted his own house. - That's so impressive when you think about it. - Yeah, he gets it done, I don't know. - Oh, this one's interesting, this one's kind of juicy. Matt is unhappy with his hair transplant since he has stopped talking about it. - Actually, I just stopped talking about it 'cause I felt like I was annoying people a little bit, but I'm really happy with it. - It looks so good. We actually, we look at old pictures all the time. It's like my favorite social media. It's just scrolling back on my own photos. - Same. - And we were looking at your hairline, even in high school. - Yeah. - And we didn't think at the time that you were like thinning, but I think that was, we were just talking about it. I think that was just your natural hairline was just a little further back. And it looks so full now, it's totally different. - Yeah, I feel like it made me look younger. Like, - Yeah. - I don't know. - You look better than you've ever looked, basically. - Thank you. - Yeah. - That's like such a nice compliment. - Yeah, you're being very strong. - Why do you think I look better than I ever looked? - He always asks for more details of words of affirmation guys. - Just want to know what you're like. - You're big muscles. I've just started to see you again. It's two months most part. I just started recognizing that you're here. And your hair looks great. Your muscles are huge. - Thank you. - You've done a great teeth, you've cute eyes. You're kind of getting more into your manliness. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Which is why? - 'Cause now you're almost 30. - Which is why I haven't shaved yesterday for a couple of days, and you're growing out to facial hair. - Just think, oh yeah. - And then Abby said, are you letting yourself go? (laughing) So I shaved my facial hair. - I actually said you were reminding me of the boyfriend on cat. (laughing) Think about the double-standard there. If you would have said that to me, I would have moved out of the house. - Yeah. (laughing) - Yeah. Usually when I ask you to shave your face, you don't take it to you. (laughing) - I'm literally just fed up your drink. (laughing) - If you ever asked me to do that, I would-- - Oh my gosh. - I would be so sad. - Yeah. - You're really good about that. The thing is that I'm like, okay, ouch. But I did accidentally say that you look like the boyfriend off of cat in the house. - It's okay. - Put up a picture. (laughing) That's not a problem. - That's my facial hair is gone. - No, you look great. It was just hard to kiss you. It kinda hurt. - How do we even get on that? - I don't know. Oh, your hair transplant. - Yes, hair transplant. Love my hair transplant. - Matt forgets to drink water. Fellow ADHD are here. Yeah, I would check here. - Yeah, actually, probably. That's why. In front of him, he will drink the entire thing in one second. - I think that's why I drink. This sounds so stupid. But I think that's why I just chug water when I'm at restaurants. - You don't sip anything. - Yeah, I just have to chug whatever drink it is. - Yeah, so if you order a drink at a restaurant and you chug it, people are like, hard day. And you're like, no, it's just-- - I just drink in front of me. - Everything really fast. - Yeah. So it's kinda nice. Going out to eat is good for me 'cause then I say hydrate it. - You know what's funny about it? - I remember to drink though. I just like to-- - They keep refilling it. - Okay, weird like tick. I don't know what it is, just drinking the water. - You get into a rhythm. - Yeah. - That's a weird pet peeve that we both have is when people don't finish their drinks. Like if you're gonna buy a special drink and you don't drink it all, that just feels wrong to our core. - That's kind of grind my gears a bit when people-- - Especially 'cause it's like, it's kind of special to get a drink, a special drink. - Yes, you gotta finish it. - Abby runs the show when it comes to rules in the house. - Abby runs, okay, there's two things there. Abby runs the show when it comes to rules in the house. - Yeah, yeah. - Yeah, I would say that's kind of my domain. Like I kind of set up the expectations for like our house and our kids. - Mm-hmm. - More so. - Yeah. - Matt handles all the finances for sure. - I would agree with both of them. - I'm not very good about that. I know, they always say that you need to know those things. - I started scheduling monthly budget meetings with Abby and she just wouldn't show up. - Yeah, thank you. So hopefully we'll show up to one of my budget meetings. - I just have been busy at that time for so many months. Man, he's actually done that since February guys. - But also, I feel like I'm the one that tells you to spend money. I'm like, you're like, I don't, I can't do that. Like it's, I can't spend the money. I'm like, babe, it's literally two kids meal. Like it's not, you never, you spend money on our kids, but like it yourself. Like if you're like, you want to get a something out to eat and then you feel bad about spending money, like just, just get the burger that you want. - You better be careful what permissions. Matt does, okay, also let me just say that. That's a joke. Matt does not give me permission to spend money. I spend my money, don't worry. - Yeah, you do whatever you want. - People are gonna just take it and run. - I heard my buddy was talking to me about someone was interviewing like billionaires or just like extremely wealthy people on how like what their, their limit is. They call their spouse about money they can spend and these people were so out of touch. They were like, yeah, probably like 25,000. You know, I want, I want. - That doesn't mean it's out of touch. That's just a reality. - I know, but it's just, it's funny. It's funny though. - That they're like, if they would spend $20,000, not talk to their spouse. - Can you imagine, yeah, spending $25,000 and not having to call your spouse first? Like, what? - I feel like, what is that? - Yeah, that's just a different, that's cool. - Yeah. - That's pretty crazy. - This one says, Matt and Abby definitely use mouth tape to sleep at night. - I want to get back to doing that. - Matt, you would suffocate if you taped your mouth to sleep. - I tried and I did have trouble breathing, but I want to do it again. - Why would you do that then? - I think maybe my nose would like, like build better airways in it. - I gotta be so thrilled. That's one of those things where I'm like, - I probably shouldn't get a no surgery. - I don't think that's, the tape is going to fix that. - Really? - No. I think you're just going to have low oxygen to your brain. - Yeah. - Matt is a mouth sleeper. - But I have to. - Matt is breather when he sleeps. It's like this. I get a little breeze. - I feel like my nose doesn't have the ability to breathe in very seriously. - Yeah, look up right now. They're just skinny and long. See, I got a lot. That's one thing about my nose. I can always get air in there. - You haven't tried it. - I got a snorkel walking around. - Like right now, this is my right nostril. - It doesn't look pretty, but it's functional. - I'm talking about it. - You're beautiful. - Most of your arguments are work related. - Dang. I don't think so. - I don't think so. - Probably early on, for sure. - Yeah, and then I think we've just learned ways to work together that we like bring people in to do certain things that would affect you over. - Yeah, it's been a blessing to be able to grow like a team to kind of like offset a lot of those things. Because before, it was just the two of us, that's. - Yeah. It is weird. - That's not a good setup. - Yeah, and we've kind of figured out how to run a business as a couple, which so many people in the world do that. But when it's just a two of you, you kind of have to wear every single hat and do every single job in the business. And then when you're able to expand, you can take things off your plate that might have been something before that was a big stressor or something that took a lot of time. So definitely good. - I will also say like a lot of people say, don't work with family. And obviously working with your spouse feels like, that's obviously working with family. But it feels a little different. We've broken every rule in that aspect. It's like we work with family, we work with each other. And I'm a big proponent of it, honestly, because for me, that's one of the biggest blessings of this job is that we can work together. And we can get that, like ultimately time is the most valuable thing that any of us will ever have in our life. And we just been able to bank so many more hours together than most couples because we've been blessed with like this as a career option for us. So all that to say, we did have a lot of arguments related to work in the beginning. Not actually not even, I wouldn't say a lot, but we had more in the beginning than we do now. And now it's just kind of like, we don't, that's not, it's kind of an issue really anymore. - Yeah. - You have considered quitting social media. - Probably, yeah, probably before. - Once it's the same type of thing, if it's not a net positive anymore at some point, then it will be gone. - Yeah, that's good. - For sure, for me, at least. But ultimately, I just, I can't say enough, how grateful I am for this gig. It's been, but I've said this a lot by all keeps saying it, like I've gotten more out of this social media career than I ever, ever thought that we would get. So I'm like already in a place of abundance with it. So I'm like, if it's no longer what's best for our family or for us than we're out, but I feel like we're at now. I think I've learned how to make this like to have longevity in this more than ever. And that's just having personal boundaries and having like, just staying focused on the why behind, why we do it and like the purpose behind it. And so that has just like created like so much more longevity in it for me personally. This one says, you don't drink alcohol or party. - We drink alcohol, like we have glasses of wine together during the week, for on a date, you know, that's kind of fun to go on a date and get wine. But.
We're not I feel like we don't really party. No, we're gonna save that part 50s Yeah, if you consider partying partying like going to the park with your friends and your kids play while you turn out If you're talking toddler birthday parties, we are Frequencing those actually yes, we do part at the toddler birthday party. We do party We've been to we have a birthday party tomorrow birthday party Saturday I even know that we had two coming up. That's exciting. Yeah, we have one tomorrow. We have one Saturday We probably have one every single weekend for the rest of The next Ten years, so we do party just no my limit with drinks is one glass because Yeah, I'm nursing and I'm also very much a lightweight. Yeah, which is why Abby usually gets like a really big glass I feel like I'm like fill it up really high the fish bull cup that you see at like the restaurants That's the one I do here's the thing about me. I do like wine There's nothing wrong with that. I forgot about that for like a whole year But man, I I do like it. It's good stuff. It's delicious delicious gentle parenting and you will buy the organic fruit You know we probably should have at some point buy the organic fruit. No, I did for a little bit No, someone said that you should buy a lot of people have said that you should buy like organic berries and like broccoli but I did for a whole season and Then I just got really ticked off that I was paying double for the same fruit in my mind So we don't buy organic fruit unless I like accidentally do But I probably should so I'll do more research Gentle parenting do we do that no? No, I like what Dr. Becky said she's sturdy parent. Yeah, we do what Dr. Becky says I didn't even know that we were doing what Dr. Becky says, but we do that we don't yell at our kids We don't say mean things are I honestly don't ever even feel like I come to a point where I'm like I feel bad about like I feel like we both have a lot of self control when it comes to like how we talk to our kids But we're certainly not we have expectations for them and we also do have like Consequences now. They are really soft consequences. Yeah Especially if it's Abby Who's giving us what she's like go wait over there for 15 seconds and then come back like you can't have candy, but you can't have fruit snacks Anyone who's a parent knows feeding decisions are not a one-time thing You make them again and again. No one prepared me for the food battles that come with raising children Sometimes you just need something simple something that you know that they're actually going to eat the meals I think that kids gravitated towards can have a lot of sugar and salt what we like about little spoon is they're actually changing that Their meals that kids will eat and will also fuel their bodies Plates are heat and eat meals with superfoods and hidden veggies right for picky eaters and getting meal time on the table in minutes Lunchures are nostalgic better for you versions of the classics that we grew up perfect for backpacks and busy days While still delivering real nutrition and all-day fuel with over 10 grams of protein per meal feeding the kids doesn't have to be Complicated little spoon makes it easy with real nutritionally balanced meals and snacks designed for every stage It shows up ready to go takes the pressure off and somehow still gets devoured veggies and all no artificial dives flavors or sweeteners Either that's a win. They are for three and two months. Wow When will Griffin will be 18 in 14 years? It is interesting though how they're like Brains are already starting to like conceptualize marriage. Yeah, and like how like they fall into like certain thought patterns Like around it and usually I just take the curious approach. I'm like, why do you say that like I'm just curious like where they because we Haven't really said much about anything. I mean, why would we have there for and three? But sometimes I just like I'm just ask curious questions and it's so funny like they really do have so much more understanding than we think that they have Like it is fascinating. It is really interesting Even like how they do like playing with their stuffed animals or their action figures. It's very fascinating They're picking up on things. I'll tell you that they really do pick up on it But no, there's been no sex talk yet with the kids other than we say that like babies get in mom's belly's by like The the man has the seed and the mom has the eggs. Yeah, and that's and they combine and they mix them together Get a baby and then you get a baby. That's how it works. It's all true But it's just really it's alleviating it's leaving out some details And it's it's so funny to me how like you give a simple explanation to them You don't even have to answer any follow-ups really or some kids ask why why why why our kids kind of just take it at face value They're like all you don't all he does that but when he like asks and and really out their question and I just give him a simple answer That's it. He's happy with it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, they'll come a day where that we are gonna be stumped time I believe that for sure This one says you pay someone for child care. Your way too chill to be home with them 24/7 Okay, so there's two sides of that coin. We are home with them 24/7 But we do pay someone to watch them from one to five or one day. We're not we're not with them 24/7 because they go to school Like we're not there when they're at school. We're not they go to school for three hours three days a week Yeah, and then we pay your mom for four hours for four hours one to five five days a week five days a week Yeah, but they stay my mom watches them here. So it's that that's 20 hours a week in they're then being with grandma and then School is like august school is like legitimately like what is that two hours long? It's so short It's like two hours and 45 minutes. Yeah, but um, yeah, so I want to also say that when they're here my mom is here with the kids. I The only time we're not with them is really when we're filming a podcast It's great. I love being with our kids all the time But we do have help when we're working because I don't want I have tried to multitask work with being around our kids And I did not like the message I was sending our kids because I because of the nature of our job that involved me being on my phone And I did not like that. I did not like that mixing and sometimes it's unavoidable But it where it is avoidable I want to avoid it and so we're really grateful that and there's not many people that we would Want to be our kids to be spending that much of their time with 20 hours a week and so I'm really grateful that I'm always able to do that and that I can also Be a job for her too. Next assumption is Matt is a border collie and Abby is a cockroach spaniel I have no elaboration. What's a border collie? I don't even know what these breeds look like. I feel like a cockroach spaniel today with my hair like this Like do I not look like a cockroach spaniel? This is a border collie. Oh Yeah, I don't even understand what the the brand of a border collie is Yeah, oh Yes, do I not look like a cockroach spaniel today wait For some reason with the headband you just see like the boss today. Yeah, I am the boss with this headband on Everyone needs to report to me Um, yeah, sure that that checks out. I wouldn't agree with that assumption. I don't even I need to learn my dog Matt's too logical to go with something like this. This isn't really hyper. Oh, I don't think Matt's really hyper Collie is a highly intelligent, energetic, and athletic medium-sized hurting dog. Okay. Yeah, you're highly intelligent and energetic and athletic thanks, but what are cockroach spaniels? They got a lot of health issues. They're the lazyest dogs Okay, I don't know I don't know about this anymore I just thought I looks like a cockroach spaniel said so I said yes But I didn't know as a personality type as well. So I'll let you guys be the judge of that one y'all will accidentally have another kid, but it will be another big blessing Why do we actually have that conversation the other day? What? Like the whole having kids is close to the other as griffin and algae. Yeah Um because you're I asked Abby if she would be happy with that if she was like pregnant right now And she basically said yes, and I was like you are psycho I was like you just want to be pregnant all the time. I can't say yes. I said I haven't thought about it Oh my gosh, but you would be so happy Your babies kids are such a babies are such a blessing and I just know I we've done it before like I would we would you have an addiction you have an addiction to babies um But I will tell you we won't ever do it again on accident I think you get one accident and that's already a more than enough Yeah, and it's not any good way I don't like the word accident either because usually that's something you don't want to happen But it's like we wanted more kids. Yeah. We just were Surprise by the timeline really worked out really really freaking worked out. Yeah, you guys want to adopt a kid one day We've talked about it. You know, we've talked about it and I feel like now we just have so many and I'm like you know We we honestly what's another we Yeah, I think um, it's definitely always
- There's been a conversation between us. - Here's what's crazy to me. Okay, so we have a date night. We try to do a date night every week. - Yeah. - Right now, if we tried to both have a night with each kid, and then both, and then go on a date night too, I don't think we could fit that all in. Or no, we barely could, we barely could. 'Cause if I did like, say I did a guy sing out individually with Griffin on Monday, then Oggy Tuesday, then Fisher Wednesday, and then you did, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, then Sunday night, could be our date night. But like, we have any more kids, kind of-- - Why are we splitting up our family so much? - I'm just thinking of like, if we wanted to, this was a random thought I had the other day. - Okay. - I was like, if we just wanted to have more one on one time with our kids. - Yeah. - And that was like a weekly thing. That's how we'd be divided up. - Yeah. - But once you-- - That's one of them. - You start to have so many, the people that have like a lot, a lot, a lot of kids. I don't know how they spend time with their kids. I guess they just all are together collectively as a family. But maybe the one on one time is not. - I just think that one of my family life can look so different from family to family to family. - Yeah. - And what, one people's max capacity is different than another person's max capacity. Some people don't want to hit max capacity because they want their lifestyle to look a certain way. And like, at this point, I'm like, yeah, it's all good. Everyone can, all those can look so differently and they can all have amazing childhoods. But they're just gonna look so differently. And so, that was a long-winded answer to say. It's definitely been a conversation but it's not something that we're like actively pursuing right now. You'll never do a house tour. I'm just nosy and love interior design. It looks beautiful. - I really do want to like do a house tour at some point. - I feel like we thought it was like a safety concern. - True. - I think when you see people do open door house tours, they don't like if you, you don't see the layout of their house. You're just seeing rooms and you don't know where those rooms are. - That's a good idea. We could do that. - But that's what I thought. - I mean, it's not very, some parts of our home, I'm like, wow, we don't need to air that out 'cause it's a disaster but it's maybe one day, we could do that. - That would be cool. - It's October, the AC's off. It may be on just a little bit. And you're still waking up in a full sweat. - Here's the truth, great sleep isn't about the season on the calendar, it's about temperature. I assume when you go somewhere together, Abby usually drives. We were just talking about this. That's really funny. I don't do that. Like I drive. I drive the car. There's been times where I have-- Especially in the past. Because I do like to drive. When we were so slammed with trying to do social media, and I was having to edit a lot more, Abby would drive and I would edit. Anytime I was in the car, it's just like, hey, can you drive? So I can edit this video. But now I drive always. And then Abby will help me respond to messages that I'm behind on. It's crazy how messages will build up on my phone. And I'll have like 80 mismessages. Yeah, it's because you don't chip away at it. It's like message time or not message time. But yeah, I know I drove to and from California. 100% Abby didn't drive a minute. Y'all return your shopping carts every time. Yes. Yes, why would you not return your shopping cart? I think I literally hate when people don't return their shopping cart. I get why you don't. Because if you have your kids in the car, it is logistically very difficult to figure out. I don't think there's ever a time that it's OK to not put your shopping cart back. I get why it's hard. It's never OK to not do it. It's what I'm saying. Like if your kids are in the car, then you've got to make sure you're parked close to one because you don't want to walk away from them for a long period of time to walk. So like, if ever I'll park further away to be next to that cart return when I'm with the kids. But yeah, don't leave your shopping carts out. That's so infuriating. It's not their job to go all around the parking lot. They're already coming to the parking lot. They already put one for you in the parking lot. You have to walk all the way to the store, think about how nice that is. And you can't even get it there. And then the worst thing ever is if you need a parking spot and you can't park in it because there's a shopping cart. How dare people. People are sick and twisted. This person says you secretly both have a favorite child. Sienna, that is so far from the truth. It's not possible. It's literally not possible to have a favorite child. I think it's possible. You don't think it's possible? Not for a decent, even halfway decent parent. Have you read the Torah? Have you read the Bible? Wow, never thought about that. - There's favorite children all over the place. You really did it. - I dare you for an Abraham. - I'm thinking of Abraham. - Well, gosh dang it, he just drink and jump me on that one. - Yeah, I'm like, dude, Joseph was the favorite child. That's why he got sold in this. That's why his brother was so angry at him 'cause he was the favorite. - Gosh, that technical or dream coat. - Yep. - Well, you know what, it didn't work out great for him for a little bit. (laughing) - Everything turned out okay. - Oh, gosh. - Everything turned out okay. - You know, I was in that musical, Joseph and the Amazing. - So was I. - Go, go, go, go, Joseph. - I was in it twice and I hate the music from that show. I'm sorry. - It's so 90s. - It was the first. - It isn't 90s or 80s. - It was the first professional theater show I was ever in. So my mom was so proud of me and so excited. - Gosh, that music sucks. I just-- - That's a hot take. - Really? - Yeah. - Maybe I just sing it so much. (singing in foreign language) - That's from Joseph, right? - It would, now that you're singing that though, my gosh, that'd be so much fun to play that part. - You would be a good Joseph. - That'd be really fun. - I could be a pot of, I could be pot of first wife. - I'm changing my mind. - I'll be pot of first wife. - She seducises Joseph. - She's the what? Oh, she seducises. Yeah, you could seduce me on this. - You could seduce Joseph. - Wait, why would that be so funny if we-- - Matt, it's really down for that. - We're gonna move to Branson this way. (laughing) That's our next career. - No, Matt, that's not-- - That's not necessarily a Branson show. That one goes everywhere. - Joseph would do very well in Branson as a standalone show. The Bible belt, are you kidding me? - Yeah, but I feel like that's not necessarily a completely accurate adaptation. - I'm pretty sure it's like very accurate. - I think about Jesus Christ superstar. - Oh my god. - You're not showing that one. - Yeah, that's true. - Anyway, that was a little niche there. Okay, Matt thinks the family is complete, but Abby wants two more kids and lots of chickens. - Chickens part, I don't know where that came from, but I was gonna-- - I'll take the chickens as well. - Yeah, I think I would agree with that. - I would agree with, once two. I will literally take as many children as I can possibly get. - When's enough? - When you're done. Oh, we are done. - How many-- no, seriously, how many kids, in your mind-- - Realistically, I think my maximum would be five. I think four sounds perfect. - No, but like-- - If I could have some chickens. - Be real right now though. Like, would you be excited at the possibility of having eight children? Would that be something that you would like? - I don't, I think that would be too many children. - I think I would. - No, why do I think you would? I think you would love that. - I mean, here's the thing, if-- - I think you would have like a-- - Let's see, we have three kids right now. If five kids showed up at my doorstep and we're like, "We need a mom," I would be like, "Come to mommy." Like, I would-- (laughing) - So, it sounds like you're here. - Why am I crying right now? I think you want a kid that doesn't have a mom, and I could be there. - That's what adoption is. That's what adoption is. - That's what I'm saying. - So, like, yeah, sure. I'll take a 1,000% coming out my house. We'll figure it out. Crying. (laughing) Matt's looking at me like, "I'm crazy." I'm not crazy. I think four would be a per-- I think three is perfect. I think four is perfect. I think five is perfect. - Why is it making me rethink the adoption thing now? - Come to mommy. - Literally. - Like you just, when you just talk about these poor kids, I'm like, "Yeah, they're actually is." - Oh, fair out of it. - A lot of kids out there that don't have a lot of parents. - We will make it happen. We need someone to love them. - Here's something about me. I'm gonna find a way to make it happen. That's all the assumption. - Well, guys, thank you so much for listening to this episode. This was a lot of fun. - I feel weird. Did I say anything? Oh, my gosh. - We probably both go again. - Oh, you're both weird. - That's why I feel weird. - You probably know that you need to go feed her, maybe right now. - It's leaking. I can feel it. - Well, here, let's review. Let's go ahead and read this review. This is so nice from Kelsey 0-3. Thank you to everyone that's left this review on Spotify, Apple Podcasts.
wherever you get your podcasts, you could just let them know if you like our show, give it five stars, write it a little something, it literally takes 10 seconds. So for everyone that's done that, we really appreciate it. This one says, I've listened to you guys since you started your podcast. I've loved to watch you guys grow as a couple and his parents. Your story is so amazing and all the new celebrities and people you have been able to interview. Wow, just wow. That's so nice. - That's really nice. - So nice. Yeah, I agree. I think I never thought that we would have the people sitting with us at our own house, like us getting to interview the people that we have gotten to interview, it's insane. It's just insane, especially when now we've had the podcast long enough that instead of us reaching out to these different guests, guests have come to us and said, "Hey, I want to ask other people that do this if it feels normal to them." - It's crazy. - It's never once felt normal to me. It's never once we felt a little bit normal. - I legitimately so get nervous to interview these people. 'Cause sometimes it's just like, you're like, "Oh my gosh." - I've never been nervous to talk to people because for me, I'm like a person as a person, as a person, as a person, but it does feel weird. Like I'm like, "Whoa, who am I?" Here we are. It's so random. I always say this. I feel like we've calmed our way into this position. We just pretended we're something special. To get to the point and then it's like, "Wow." - Pretend we went to school to be on. - The joke has really gone pretty far. This prank. - Yeah. - It's pretty cool. - It's very grateful. Can't say enough how grateful I am. - We were just at Disneyland, you guys. We ran into so many of you. You were all were so nice. I something I love about the people that are part of this community is everyone is so nice. Something about it. I don't know what it is. - Yeah, I don't want to be weird, but when you guys meet me, you're like, "I feel like I know you." I'm like, "I feel like I know you to some extent." Like I don't really know how to describe that because it's like, "Yeah, I'm gonna have to ask you your name, how old you are, where you live, all these things." But there's a certain type of like, kinship, automatically that I have because it's like, if you're interested in what we're out here talking about, then we're already, you know? - 100%. - I feel weird saying that, but that's the truth. I do feel that way. Like when I meet people, I'm like, "Oh, thank you." This is so cool. I'm so grateful to you. And every person I've met, I've been like, I genuinely feel like we could be great friends. So thank you. - All right, we love you guys. We'll see you in the next one. - Bye. - Dooses.
