This transcription explores the Kabbalistic concept of Tzimtzum, or contraction, as a fundamental principle for managing life’s energy and light. The speaker argues that contraction is necessary for expansion, citing examples from stock markets, relationships, fitness, and business. Without voluntary contractions—like resting, setting boundaries, or pacing interactions—the light becomes unsustainable, leading to burnout, depression, or failure. The speaker emphasizes that ups and downs are natural and should not be labeled as bad; rather, they are contractions that enable future growth. Practical applications include knowing when to leave a party, limiting charity to 20%, avoiding over-information on first dates, and creating scarcity to build demand (e.g., monthly events or restaurant reservations). The key is to manage vessels wisely: contract the light to expand it, or risk having it contracted forcibly through life’s challenges. By mastering Tzimtzum, one can achieve resilience and success in wealth, relationships, and personal well-being, always beginning with the end in mind and surrendering to necessary pauses.
Welcome to today's class, today's class is the English-Major Khmer Diyanogaday Israel success and your Chimime of GDL Ben Ali Sheva, Sheva by Ali Sheva, Rayna Mako, Patel Babasha and Emmet Ben Ali Sheva. This class is also sponsored by Patel Yudhyev, Ramon Khagito and Rachel Brown, matchmaking for your sharing of the podcast. Today's class, we're going to do a book on the psychology of a tymsum, the psychology of a tymsum. It's an incredible concept, where does this one that some represent a contraction. We have to create a contraction of the light to expand the light. Such an important concept. If you understand, our sage is tell us, it's up to us to contract the light, otherwise the light will be contracted for us. Good example, some of you may be extremely practical on this, but it's just very simple. Stock markets are typical ways where it lows two months ago. There was a huge contraction in the market. Today there's a huge expansion in the market. All time highs from two months ago, I ran where gas is 120 dollars soon house and everything is going to, you know what, all of a sudden new highs. So a contraction creates a new light. It creates an expansion of light. The same way we got wanted to create the world. The first thing you do is you create a tymsum, you create a contraction to allow man to co-create. So what we need to understand is we need to understand that ups and downs are 100%. In khasid is that we don't call something a depression. We call it a, you have a depressive moment. You have a darkness in your life, right? You have a clarity in your life, right? Even during the day, so at night we have to go into surrender mode, right? Because that's the time we say shema. During the morning we have peak hours that there's a lot of clarity in the morning, right? In the afternoon the clarity goes away. It's not that there's something wrong with you. It's just the, everything in order for a new day to come, the previous day has to contract. So the same thing with this is with lifting weights, with relationships with everything. Too much light, it's not sustainable. So that's when you meet somebody, you're on eight hour dates every single night, all of a sudden you're going to break up into weeks. You can't, because you run out of things to talk about. It's too much light. You can't handle it before you were, you were never playing Scrabble, you're not, you're all day long, you're talking. You know, you got a, you got a majors in communication. It's too much light, it's too much light, right? You spoil a kid, you give him too much light, next thing you know, you take it away, he doesn't know what to do with it. So we always in life we want to micro dose the light. Why? Because we're all, we all come from the infinite. We all have the potential for infinite. And deep down we want to go to the infinite. Infinite means, means infinite means, no, end, right? But it's not something that can be sustainable the whole time. So what happens if we don't make contractions, the contractions will come to us. So this is where sometimes you have to leave a party earlier, right? If you stay too long, you're over, you're giving away too much energy. And instead of enjoying the party, you're, you're, you're drained out. You, you drink too much. One drink you enjoy, two drinks, all of a sudden you're waking up like a zombie. You know, these are, these are all, all day long, we have these many, many doses of contractions. You know, working out with the normal, normal time, 45 minutes. Okay, that's enough. You don't need to be there for two and a half hours because you're going to get fat afterwards. It's, now you create in cortisol, the body needs to heal. Everything comes down to the balance on making appropriate symptoms. The problem is people want to grab it too fast. People want to grab it too fast. And they don't know how to contract the light. And specifically, if your intentions is all about competing with everybody else, all you're doing is you're fighting against the whole system, system is not made for you to grab too much light at one time. When you grab too much light, you grab nothing. So the, the concept of chasey, dude, doesn't, doesn't define something as, as, as bad or depression, like people say, I've had a bad day, I've had a bad, no, you had, you had a contraction, you know, sometimes I have to take a day off of the gym, I have to take off a day, you know, why? Because I need rest. That rest will create a new expansion, right? If I'm going too much, if you're dealing with people too much and you're trying to help somebody too much, you're going to get compassionate fatigue, you know, it's what Pisces do, right? They go, oh, they give everything and they're crying while they're victims. You gave too much. You told you to give so much, right? You can't give too much sometimes because if you give too much, that person can't handle the light. Not only will they not thank you, you'll be burnt out and they'll hate you. So it's not great. You're great. You did great. You're burnt out and they hate you. So you can't, that's just a good, it's, it's overall, too bad. But if you give endosis, if you give endosis, if you give the appropriate amount, the same thing, the same thing in charity, we can't give a certain amount. We should only give maximum 20%, right? The person's can give 20%. I'm just kidding. We don't want Hatsale to come. But if you give too much, next thing, you know, you can't pay your bills. So everything needs a contraction. It's called a team sum. That's what it's called. So whenever things are going wrong in your life, you should say, where do I need to make it seem some? Where do I need to contract the light in order to expand the light? Not overdo it. Oh, remember, you know, not overtell somebody. It's not. I need to back off. I need to back off. To contract the light. If you're in a problem sometimes in life, you're too into the problem. You need to back off the problem, right? Back off. Let it go. Move the emotional charge so you can re-engage with the right head. The worst thing you could do is catch, is try to catch a fallen knife. Is to deal with life with a knife that's not that's been dull. That's what's caused the frustration. You're trying to force it. So Kabbalah is telling us always or say, just tell us, always, we have to contract the light. The same way, for example, if somebody has a very, if I'm dealing with a child, right? I can't give them too much information because they don't know how to handle it. So everything in life, the purpose of these classes, this is not just a class you listen to. This is called, this is how you deal with life. And when something's going wrong, it's because it needs to be, you need to give people space, space creates growth. But we should never say, you're still early. You're still early. That's right. You're still early. Don't worry. But the main thing is, is sometimes we get nervous, for example. You're in a deal, right? You have to always, you show a house to somebody. Let's say you're a realtor, you show a house to somebody, and you're expecting them to say, okay, I'm going to offer right now. And the more you desperately look for it, the less they're going to do it. So you have to give them almost the illusion that there's other buyers, right? You can't tell them that you need to buy your desperate because that will actually cause you not to make the deal. You have to give them space to tell, by the way, if you don't want it, it's okay because there's tons of buyers anyway. Then they'll make the light. But when you're trying to, anytime you're desperate and something, the person will not come into you. It will be the opposite because you gave them too much light. What we have to do is we have to contract the light to expand the light. And this is where it's so important because this is how you build wealth. This is how you build goals. This is how you build relationships. It's creating that knowing when to contract and realizing that you need these contractions for the sake of expansions, right? The occasion is a great example of a contraction from work in order to clear your head so you can re-engage to prevent the burnouts, right? That's called a tymsum. That's called a contraction. Kabbalah speaks about something called a masah. Masah is like a boundary. I'm pushing away this light for a greater light. We constrict our eating, right? We know if you do intermediate fasting, that's a great example of a tymsum, right? I'd rather not eat in order to expand my focus, right? I'm contracting the light to expand the focus. I'm contracting myself from becoming physical in relationships to expand my soulmate. If I'm too physical in relationships, I'm going to get dizzy. I'm going to get confused, right? So you contract the physicality to expand the vision of the marriage. If there's no contraction, right? There's a burnout. This is where most people get burnt out because they're trying to do it without strategy. It's a lack of planning, lack of planning, lack of planning. Everything is the same way in life. It comes down to that. That's what we said, God is terrible. This is terrible. You just need to make a contraction. You need to contract the vessel to expand the vessel. A good example, another example would be this. Look at teams like the Dolphins. You have to sometimes get rid of the team in order to start all over to expand the team. This is where we get into midlife crisis. This is where we, you know, people have breakdowns. You should be celebrating a breakdown. When people tell you I had a terrible breakup. I had a terrible, who says it's terrible? That was exactly what you needed. What does terrible mean? It's exactly what you needed. Why do you think it's terrible? God forbid I got sick from work, from an overworking because you neglected your body for years. That's not terrible. It's actually good. It's actually good. Everything the creator does is good. It's just when we try to force things. It's bad. But when we say I had a terrible breakup, I'm going to get depressed. That's not bad. There's no reason. It's a contraction for the sake of expansion. That's Kabbalah 101. That means you're never supposed to be in a problem for too long. It should be a contraction. That problem is a contraction.
attraction. This is exactly why we, in the 12 steps, we tell the person to be favorite. Right now you need to surrender. You need to surrender, right? You need to believe you can't. God can and let him in. You need to forget whatever you know, surrender, let him in and create a new vessel. Once you understand this model, you'll be extremely, extremely resilient in life, right? Because sometimes what we're trying to do is force things to happen. You're forcing things to happen and you don't have the vessel. You're not managing your time, you're not managing your energy, right? I always say you have to begin with the end in mind. If I have a conversation, my time is very limited. I have a conversation with somebody I already know when that conversation has to end. If I go, it's like a bird all day long, that 15 minutes could become you know two and a half hours. And next thing, you know, I'm drained out, I can't help anybody else and everybody loses. And that person who knows if they'll even get 10 minutes of it. Always the contraction must follow the expansion. This is 101. If you're learning about it, you're not applying this concept. You're playing Mickey Mouse. It's the whole thing you don't understand what you're trying. That's why we that's what you understand. The problem with sadness and depression. There is no room for it because that's a time for a contraction. That's not a time for sadness and depression. That's a time to make a contraction. I'm not supposed to be depressed that I'm tired at the gym. I'm supposed to take a day off. So what's the take a day off? I'm overworked. Gornification. It's when the vessel cannot maintain that light. So this is where contraction creates expansion. Rest enables renewed vitality, right? The reason why we rest is so we can give more energy. You know, it's almost backwards. It's almost backwards. That's why you always need space. Always when you go into it, step back, create space, surrender and create a new vessel. But when you label something as bad and we are meaning making machines, when you label something as bad, it's not working. It's not this. It's not that. The market sucks. These are these are just ways of just blaming the outside and realizing the problem is you. The problem is you have you're not you're not vessel manager. Your vessel management is off. Pretty much. We need to I mean, I should be a certified vessel manager. That's all it is. It's light and vessels. That's all life is nothing more but light and vessels. And you can apply this exact situation to I've been very successful in the stock markets with the same mindset. When everybody's buying, you got to sell. You know, that's the markets too hard. Everybody's telling you it's going to go to 20,000, 30,000 Bitcoin. So because it's too much light, too much excitement. When everybody tells you it's terrible, that's the time you got to buy. Because that's the contraction. So once you know this in business, you can be very successful in business. You can be successful at work with even with employees. Sometimes you have employees that they want to overdo it. And they're trying to brag. Instead of helping others, they over they're trying to overprove themselves. They create more bad than good. So that person needs to make a contraction. Contract contract the light to expand the light. Right? You're too available on date. You're too available. Right? It's not then you lose you lose desire. If a person is too available, you lose desire. A good restaurant requires, you know, a couple weeks of reservations to create the desire. So you show up with the right appetite. But let's say the restaurant is open breakfast lunch and dinner. You didn't need a reservation. You wouldn't be excited. That excited to go to the meal. Because you have no desire. You have no pullback in order to expand the plan. It's that's all the day. Sometimes I haven't started to tell you everything else is just in our heads. It's pretty much everything else in our life. That's why you can be very resilient to say, okay, right now I need a I need a Simpson. I need to contract the light. I need to put a boundary with this person. I can't deal with this person right now. They're burning me out. I have fatigue. And I will talk to you in today's because I don't have space for I don't have space for you right now in this situation or I don't have that, etc. That's what's very, very important. How you communicate when you communicate and the way you say it is nothing wrong with the communication. It's usually the way it's done. At the timing, it's done with the pressure. It's done. And that's what causes things, you know, not to go, not not to break because it looks as a force. We don't want to force. We want to create demand demand. You know, I used to have I used to throw parties in in South Beach in my younger Kabbalah days. Twenty one twenty two years old, right? So I said, listen, you have to create this once a month thing. It has to be once a month. There has to be hype. There has to be a big thing. My partner, you know, is an Israeli guy. What are you talking about? We need to make money every week. I said, "Shmok, listen to me. If you do this every week, you're going to burn the whole thing and you're not going to have a demand and the thing will be over. You're losing money." I said, "See, I didn't understand. I'm looking at this like a long-run picture. I'm looking at this as an event. He's looking at, you know, week to week, you know, and he's going to figure out every single week, you're going to diminish the return. You're going to diminish the demand. Therefore, you're going to burn the whole thing." So you can see two people. One's looking future. Another one's looking weekly, but at the end of the day, that diminishing return is going to fall. It's because it doesn't know how to make a symptom. It doesn't know how to contract the light in order to expand the light. So this is where the mechanism of distance, even when you have distance, you know, distance creates longing. You know, there's a reason why or say, "Just tell us, you know, for Nida." Nida is the great example of when people keep Nida. That creates, it creates distance. So it creates longing. But people tell you, "You're too religious. Too religious. Too religious. I don't want to be constrained. You need to constrain in life. If you don't have to constrain, you don't have the excitement. But people don't understand it." So they think God's punishing them and not wanting them to be physical. This is, you know, you don't understand the basic principles of life, which means constraints creates longing. That's it, right? This is the reason why we have, you know, you can't have a holiday that's too long because you want to appreciate the holiday. I'm not going to say, "You can't stay more than two weeks in a month. You can't stay. You stay more than two weeks. You'll depreciate it. You'll depreciate the light. It won't stay with you. It will become like a regular thing." So there's a certain time to go. Come and leave. Right? Say goodbye and leave. Because we always want to keep it fresh. And this is why even Shabbat, that's everything in life comes down to this. Everything in this comes down to how are you handling, how are you managing your vessels? And when are you making contractions? But if you're a nervous person, you're always trying to push. Right? If you're insecure, you're always trying to push. And you're forcing it. And not only are you not getting it, but you're breaking the vessel, you're breaking the losing the demand. And failing over and over again, because you're rooted, you're doing it in the wrong way. And I'm telling you, I took me 10 years to master this concept. And once I master the tympanum, I became wildly successful in many, many things in my life because of the situation. And you can apply this to pretty much everything. Even Rabbi Naqman would know. And there's times in life where you have contractions for the sake of expansions. So there's many times where, you know, before a big event, I'll fall into a massive fatigue. All the sudden the fatigue comes. I can't do this again, but then I'm not focusing on, I need the contraction. Because I'm about to go into an expansive state. If I'm if I'm contract, if I'm expansive, then I get into expansive state, it will be too much light. So I need that down. I need the contraction in that, in that before the speech, in order to come to build a desire to build to come with the right speech, right? That's the key. And this is where it's not, this is where Hashem wants you to trust in him. And when you have this anxiety, you always are feeling things are going to break. No, it's creating, you have to create a contraction before an expansion. And if you don't do it, it's going to come to you. The best thing is if you do it, if you, if you create the expansion, you're going to go on a date, okay, we're going to go out for coffee first. Because if I get to know you too much, then it'll be too much light. And then you expand the vessel as you expand the relationship, but you shouldn't, you know, tell everything about the date on the, you shouldn't be telling your social security number or your mortgage court, you know, your criminal records on the first date. Because this person saying, look for what is that look forward to? You understand? So even that itself is that where we're today, what happens today, you hear this nearer? No, you okay? Okay, good. Where today is people, people give too much. And then the next, you can't maintain that light. You can't maintain the light. So all of a sudden, that's not working. We lost it. We lost the spark. No, you didn't manage the spark. That's the difference. You didn't lose the spark. You didn't manage the spark. People say I lost it. Now you didn't lose it. You didn't manage it well. You didn't look forward. You didn't, you didn't, you didn't, you didn't, you went through pressure instead of force. So, Rabnafman, when he had these lows, he would purposely, what would he do? He would joke around. He would create a pattern, pattern, disruptions because sometimes these lows, these contractions that we go through and these down for the sake of the high are very rough. You know, when the market's crashing, when work is off, it's not so fun between you and me. It's not the finest place in the world, but that represents the afternoons in our lives.
represents the symptom, the contraction, or no light. So those are the times instead of freaking out and saying, this is going to be terrible forever, you should say, this is, I need to break the pattern. How do you break the pattern? Go to a cold punch. Go joke around, go put some music on. Go walk around. Break the pattern, you understand? Don't fall down into the pits. Break the pattern. That's the key. When you get into the symptom, when you get into this dark space, which it has to come to you, because if the darkness doesn't happen, the light doesn't happen. So while you're in the darkness, it's not a membership. You shouldn't ask for Wi-Fi passwords. Like Yona got swallowed by the whale. You're not supposed to ask for the Wi-Fi passwords. This is going to be like this forever. It's Doomsday, Catastrophe, where was the example where do we know this from Moshe Reveno, COVID. As soon as COVID came, everybody's buying toilet paper, everybody's freaking out. That's a contraction, right? First sake of an expansion. Everybody's-- everybody freaks out. You can't freak out in the contraction. You have to sit with the contraction, and you have to say, this contraction is good. When a person's keeping knee down, right? And he's separating from his wife. That's not the time for him to go party and hang out with other girls. That's the time to build the desire. Build the desire to reconnect. Not go hang out and go to places where you can't imagine. But that's not the answer. That's not the answer. But this is what people do. They entertain themselves in contractions when they need to build desire to get the new light. To get the new light. Our sage just tell us that according-- we're having a guest tomorrow, God willing here-- but according to how you plan for Shabbat, is the light you get on Shabbat. If you show up Friday afternoon at 7 o'clock, like a zombie, the light is limited. But if you start desiring Shabbat, you get the light of Shabbat, because desire expands the vessel. But anything, I'm telling you right now, anything that's not working in your life, whether it's fitness, whether it's relationships, whether in some people don't know how to contract. When somebody tries to control you, and somebody tries to criticize-- they don't know how to contract. They realize that this is not working. When you're trying to force a kid, right? You're trying to force the kid to be religious. You're trying to force somebody to do something. It doesn't work. It doesn't work. Not only will it not work, especially if he's an Aquarius, so it runs 100 directions away. You have to contract the light. And what do you do? You have to mimic it. You have to create something fun. Build rapport. Build rapport. Do something fun. Break the pattern. Break the pattern. That's not the time to talk about religion. That's the time to talk about sports. Break the pattern and then reengage when it's the right situation. So think about when you're in these contracts, think about really, really pattern, interruption, emotional re-direction when these contractions come. Scorpios feel these contractions at times 20. There's a intensity in the contraction, but there's a high extent in the light. But the contraction feels like it's like 100 times. The doomsday is coming. So you have to realize know how to manage that contraction. Even when we pray, what do we say? Mean how it's our yeah. In my contraction, I'm crying out to you in the contraction, the place of that area in your life. I'm contracting that area. Because if you don't understand the system, you will fail. You will fail because you'll keep on forcing the light, forcing the light, forcing the light without managing the light. Managing the light is the most important thing. I purposely say no to 95% of the events people ask me to go. People are asking me to go over and do it. I can't. I can't. Otherwise, I'll burn out and burn out. That I can't have fresh classes. And the whole thing will burn out. You have to say no in order to say yes to something greater. You say yes to everything. Then your people pleasing. You'll never build anything in your life. And you'll never create demand. And you'll be too, too available. And that will be a problem. So you need to know how to say no. No means yes in the spiritual world. No is good for you. Because no means I'm contracting the light to expand the light. I'm contracting this meal that I would-- you're eating a swammer and a half to noon, 11 o'clock, 12 o'clock, and the half to noon, with fries and this. What do you expect to happen? Honestly. What possibly do you expect to happen? You're going to fall asleep. That's it. Your day's finished. You don't eat that kind of food at that hour, right? Because if you eat that kind of food, the whole day is-- that's it, finished. You eat less to expand the energy, to expand the energy. And this is where, when we're out of energy, when we're confused to energy, either we are labeling the contraction as something bad, or you are not managing it properly. But it's nothing is bad. Nothing is bad. Nothing is bad. You have to go through these in relationships. You have to go through these in everything in life. So that's why Hacidoo doesn't deny depression. It says, it's a depressive moment. It's a depressive moment. You're in a state of constriction. I was in Umar a couple of years ago. I'd go every year for the past 20 something years. But somebody asked me a question one time. They come up to me. And the guy asked me very good questions. Do you have mochem? Do you have intellect right now? I said, not really. He says, I'll ask you when you have it. Because you know, I'm going to give him a two minute answer, because I don't have the head to give him a long wind. Long. And I don't have the energy right now. So he says, OK, I'll come back to you. He understood. I'll come back to you when you have it. But if I would have given an answer, I would have given him a ABCD, EFG, because I don't have the energy to give it. So he realized that's not the time for an answer. That's not the time for an answer. There's a time when you're an expansive state. So when we're an expansive state, that's when we can give answers. When we're a constrictive state, that's the time to go into brittle surrender. This is why we say, we wake up in the morning, you want to do his bodidut in the morning and at night, you want to surrender, right? You want to contract the light so you can expand the light in the morning. Very, very important. And this implies even when you go out to a restaurant, you go out how many times you go out during the week. You can't go out every week. I mean, it's not your birthday every week, unless you're on the clock. But too much socializing, too much dating, you get confused. I think the worst feeling in life is confusion, right? It's confusion. The worst thing is to see the same singles over and over in the same events. There has to be a different strategy. There has to be a contraction, right? Let's try something different. Contract it. If it's not working, contract it to expand it. Not add more. Add more. Because you lose the desire and you lose the light. And this is why Hashab purposely puts, in our life, Nida, which everybody's on, Nida, with so old fashion. OK. You have no idea what you're talking about. You think Romeo and Juliet, they stayed forever. You think they're staying forever. You think too much passion lasts? No, it's not. It doesn't. You need passion, but it doesn't have. You nobody has the vessels to keep it 24 hours a day. It's not realistic just because you see it on Instagram. You understand? You don't see the coconut falling on the guy's face. You don't see the flight before. You all you see is the highlights. All you see is the highlights. So once you contract the vessel, that's really, really the key. But don't label-- if you're going, whenever you're going through what you should say is this is a contraction for the sake of expansion. You shouldn't say, this is bad. This is terrible. I'm going through depression. I'm going through this. No, you're not managing it. You're giving it the wrong meaning. It's very important that we are meaning making machines. Victor Franco was able to say in the Holocaust. This is-- I'm going to-- he basically in the Holocaust, he says that when a man has the right meaning, he's going to survive. The meaning is everything. Logo therapy, the right meaning, makes the difference. If I say this is bad, right away you lose potential. You can say, how bad that is. If you say, I'm a bad trainer versus I made a bad trade. That's a big difference. I'm a failure versus I made a mistake. See the difference? When you say I made a mistake, the way I was dealing with it, there's a room for expansion. If I say, I'm the failure, I'm the mistake. I'm worthless. You're not going to try again. So one says, I'm contracting the light. The other one says, I'm the failure. I'm the darkness. People say, I'm the darkness. I identify themselves as the darkness themselves. And they're not. You're in a dark moment. And this is where when you have contractions and markets, people get excited. 2008, when the market crashed, that's where the greatest opportunities were. The greatest opportunities are not made on Sunday, Sunday. They're made on black Mondays. That's the bottom line. Sunday, Sunday is the day you celebrate black Monday, where things crash in life, where things look terrible, when breakups happen, when things look as ugly as possible in life, that is actually the birth of the expansion. That is actually the greatest moment that's actually reborn to this. The thing is, you have to believe this. You have to understand and you have to believe this. And you have to really, really build a relationship with God [BLANK_AUDIO]
leave that he wants to do the best for you and he loves you unconditionally. If you don't believe this then you'll look at the descend as a punishment. You'll look at as a concealment as an abandonment. You'll look at things in a completely different angle and you won't get the light again. You'll stay in the darkness and that's the problem. When people say I'm not doing this again because I try this too many times. Try again. Try again. You just didn't do it the right way. Humble people will say I just didn't do it the right way. I need to change my strategy or I need to change my my procedure but they don't say the system is terrible. I'm not getting in a relationship again because I had a bad breakup. I'm sorry. You're supposed to get back on the words again. Try it again. Etc. Because guess what? You only live once. How do you like that? So wait you're trying to protect your ego by by failing again. Who cares if you fail 150 times? Who cares? You'll build bigger and bigger, bigger vessels. As long as you constantly stay humble and you learn from the mistake. So when you say when you're going from a descent to an ascent, you can't this is not you can't say well I'm justifying self-destructions. I'm trying to avoid excuse chaos. No it's the descents are going to happen. It's incredible just like the dark every day that the moon has to come out. The sun has to come out. The darkness has to come to your life. There's nothing you can do about it. But it's the whole point is to re engage in life. To re engage. And if you have this mindset, I promise you you will fly through life. Yes you will you will go through a lot of doubts. I'm not going to tell you but the highs the way you handle the light because the vessel is not built on the light. The vessel is built on how you handle the low. We think you know I'm waiting for this to be over. I'm waiting for the light. No no no. How you handle the low? How you handle the contraction? How you buy in a terrible market? That's the how you build the light. It's not you don't we don't succeed in in the light. We succeed in how you what happens in the darkness? Did you buy? Did you go against your fear? Because remember two things happen in life right when markets go up people get greedy. Markets go down there's fear. They're going to be like that forever. And somehow this pattern goes over and over again. And people usually panic sell. They panic sell. They sell it the wrong time. They get out of relationships at the wrong time. And they should have win the win then a contraction. But if you don't have this system to understand that this is the way life works. And you think the light should be on all the time. And you think I'm not feeling it. Do you have a problem? You're going to have a problem. You're not managing the vessel. If you think every day it's going to be perfectly and everything's going to be amazing. And 72 degree weather and the good of beach and the Michelin store restaurant. And you think that's that's something that's sustainable for your whole life. It's not. And when you when that drops you're putting your setting yourself up for a crash. You're setting yourself for your crash. When your expectations are too high you're almost guaranteed to set yourself up for a crash in life. And what happens a crash? You'll go back and chase the same thing again and they're what's going to happen. You're going to crash again. Where you need to micro dose. We talk about micro dosing everything today. Right? That's the word micro dosing. Right? You need to micro dose the light. And instead of saying depression starts saying this is a setback for the sake of a comeback. Right? We don't stop we don't stop working out because we're you know we've got burnt out. You know I tried working out it didn't work. Now what are you talking about? If you didn't if you tried to maybe you worked out the first time for two hours and you burnt out you're supposed to do 30 minutes. More to be more consistent than bit bit bit become static. I tried to do his body to do it didn't work. Try five minutes. The bottom line is you could think big but plan small. Always think big but plan small. Don't think big and act big because you got inspired by some YouTube video. Okay? You don't have the vessel for that. You think big you plan small you manage the vessel and you build momentum and then momentum does its thing. That's the key. Right? This is exactly what happened in 49 that we got the first night of Passover. We got this great light and now we are micro dosing that same light for 49 days to be able to have that light in Shavuot where it's the same light but every day is a constructive day. This I want you to working on only this today. This week only you're so I don't want you working on Mahood. I want you work on the energy you're so through the seven-seater route. Not 155 things today. Right? And this is what's so so important that you know even very good restaurants right? This is what's fresh on the menu. You have five choices. That's all you have. You can't have sushi in Mexican food. You know imagine going to a Michelin star. Here you go we have sushi tonight. We have Mexican food tonight. We have this. It's once there's so many things on the menu that you know the food's terrible. More things on the menu. Deluded deluded service. Terrible food. Why? There's no way you can be an expert at seven cuisines and be open every single day. There's no way we already know the restaurant's terrible. Less good less taste to the food. Shavs good chefs work on one two three this is what specials. 150-5 specials. Yes so you have a menu but we think more is better. More is better. More is better. That's what that's how you're playing. More more more. No less is better through vessel management. So it may have shim help. This is where we could say that when you put Hashem as a partner in the construction you get double up because when you're going through a construction and you're going through a fall you could do two things. You could fall with the depression fall with the problem or you could say Hashem I'm partners with you on this construction and what happens when you put Hashem as a partner and say this construction is good. This construction is going to build a vessel. You know you get you get double up. You get double the light on the way up. So anytime I have a construction what do I say? Hashem this is our problem. This is our construction. Let's build the light together and then you both win but the minute you say this construction is no good. This construction is terrible. I can't believe this is happening to me. You stay in the construction and you lose the light. So I cannot be more clear than this. So Hashem help us all know how to manage your vessels. Stop saying something is bad because you lose potential. Stop saying something is terrible. You could say movies are terribly because you Palestinian rallies are terrible. That's a whole different story. Stop saying things are terrible. Stop saying you know stop saying something is bad when you're expanding. Like when I when I saw that the dolphins finally got rid of the whole team I'm like finally enough of these eight and eight seasons. I'd rather suffer for two or three years and go let them win two games but at least they're going to build a franchise. How many times can you go to an eight and eight game? You know the heat eight and eight how many times can you go to 50 or mediocre games and you're not excited you're not good. There's nothing there. We don't like mediocre sucks. So you have to break the vessel. That's what sometimes in a relationship. You got to break the vessel to rebuild it. Otherwise you can't that that relationship is can is stagnant. There's stagnation because there needs new light and it doesn't have and needs to be broken before the new light right. So sometimes you have to let everything fall apart sometimes in life. Let everything fall apart. Don't be don't be upset where when a person doesn't want hit person. This person is a I'm concerned that this person is going to hit rock bottom. It's called the gift of rock bottom. Let it hit rock bottom. Let the person hit rock bottom because if you don't hit rock bottom you're not going to hit. But if you're trying to prevent the rock bottom that person will not heal. So sometimes you have to let the person crash and that crash if it's handled right will have a beautiful up and this is where again anything you do when you have a descent and you and you try to sedate it you try to numb it you try to smoke it out you try to prevent it you stuff your face with food. This is not the time you have to feel the contraction you have to understand you have to only have to feel the contraction but you have to say this contraction is good. This is good. This is going to lead to a beautiful expansion and you have to believe it you can't just say you have to believe this is good. I mean I'm in I'm potential I'm in a place of infinite I broke my old self to expand my new self. This is good you know why because when you're in a contraction you're the most open-minded. When a person is in a contraction he's the most open-minded right he's the most open-minded. Her friend of mine tells me you know he's going through something and he says and he says I'm going through such a contraction I finally feel like I pray like I'm praying from the heart. I said you already got the answers to the problem. There you go what else do you need? You got to you got a taste of the infinite what else do you need? Of course everything else will work out but if he didn't before he didn't taste he didn't confuse prayers because he didn't hit rock bottom but after he hit rock bottom I finally can now know that I have no option but to rely on Hashem because I have no money. I broke I have no money but I said you have no money but you're in the highest place now to build the biggest vessel. So he's he's fine he made that switch and the crash is actually beautiful. So remember Our creator wants us to give us the most expensive possibilities and to create the world in order.
to give his love and he wants us to have the best. But, you have to let him in. And sometimes letting him in means completely letting go of the old self, surrendering yourself, completely decomposing, rambnatant would tell us that if you want to tree, you want to become a tree, the seed must go into the ground and it must completely rot and dissipate. And then the tree comes. Until you put that seed into the ground, until you hit that rock bottom, until you hit that contraction and you feel it, that seed can never become a tree. So as much as we want to prevent the surrender experience through control, when you control something, you are actually preventing your whole future from coming. Because when you control something, you can trick your vessel, when you surrender, you expand the vessel. It's not an insecurity, it's called trust. When you trust the process, you get everything. When you control the process, you can't even go into the ground because you're worried about going to the ground and what's going to happen in the ground and how to another tree is going to open up or not and how to order the water. OK, don't go into the ground and just become a little, stay a little seed and do nothing. What's the, is that the answer? No. Let it happen. Let it happen. Let everything crash. And you'll see beautiful lights out of this. Have a great day, man. [CLAPPING]
Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The concept of "Tzimtzum" (contraction) is essential for managing light (energy, success, relationships) in life.
Without voluntary contractions, the light will be contracted for you through challenges like market crashes or burnout.
Contractions create space for expansion, as seen in rest, diet, relationships, and business strategies.
Overdoing anything (e.g., giving too much, being too available) leads to diminishing returns and fatigue.
Labeling contractions as "bad" is a mistake; they are necessary for growth and resilience.
Applying Tzimtzum involves setting boundaries, timing, and managing vessels to sustain light.
Summary:
This transcription explores the Kabbalistic concept of Tzimtzum, or contraction, as a fundamental principle for managing life’s energy and light. The speaker argues that contraction is necessary for expansion, citing examples from stock markets, relationships, fitness, and business. The speaker emphasizes that ups and downs are natural and should not be labeled as bad; rather, they are contractions that enable future growth. , monthly events or restaurant reservations).
FAQs
A tymsum is a contraction of light to allow for expansion, like creating space for growth or new energy. It's a deliberate pullback to prevent burnout and enable sustainable progress.
Too much light at once is not sustainable and leads to burnout, breakups, or failure. Contractions create balance, allowing for renewed vitality and long-term success.
You can apply it by taking breaks, leaving parties early, limiting work hours, or giving people space. For example, resting before a big event or not over-communicating on a first date helps manage energy.
If you don't contract the light voluntarily, contractions will come to you as problems, like breakdowns, fatigue, or market crashes. It's better to proactively create space.
In relationships, too much light too fast leads to burnout or loss of desire. Contracting physicality or availability creates longing and expands the connection over time.
Yes, in business, create demand by limiting availability (e.g., exclusive events). In investing, buy during contractions (downturns) and sell during expansions (highs) for success.
