49. 8/16 - Sunday Sermon (Two Ways: Life or Death)

Introduction to Jeremiah 21 and Zedekiah's Crisis Good morning everyone. Good morning. This morning let U.S. Open the Bible. Jeremiah chapter 21. Google Jeremiah chapter 21 from our first one. OK, the word which came on to Jeremiah from the Lord, when king Zedekiah sent unto him hostile the son of Makiah, and Zephaniah the son of Messiah, the priest saying, Inquire, I pray thee of the Lord for us. For Nefkadezar king of Babylon makes war against us. If so be that the Lord will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go from us. Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah, Thus says the Lord, Cut of his right. Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon and against the Guardians which beseech you without the words. And I will assemble them into the midst of this city. And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger and in fury and in great wrath. And I will smite the inhibitants of this city, both men and beasts, and shall die of a great pestilence. And afterward, says the Lord, I will deliver to the kayak king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in his city, from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Novchadraj king of Babylon, and into the hands of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life. And he shall smite them, smite them with the edge of this world, and shall not spare them, neither have pity nor have mercy. And unto these people thou shall say, thou, says the Lord, Behold, I said before you, the way of life and the way of death. He that abides in this city shall die by sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence. But he that goes out and forced to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall leave, and his life shall be unto him for a prey. For I ever send my face against this city for evil, and not for God, says the Lord. He shall be given into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it away. The fire. I read up to VS 10. The background of Jeremiah chapter 21 that I read this morning, it is the time of great crisis when the Kingdom of Judah was under attacked by Babylon. So at that time the king of Judah, his name was Jeddakaya, because he really worried about what if Babylon attacked us, what he gonna do. So the Jeddah Kaya wanted to know the will of God, so he went to Jeremiah to ask the will of God because it was a great crisis. So Babylon wanted to attack and kill the people in Judea. So as he is the king, he didn't know what to do. So Jeddakaya came to Jeremiah to ask will of God, but everyone why he came to the Jeremiah if he has power or if he has plan or if he has a way to attack them, he might be not come to Jeremiah, right? But he really wants to know. But you know he didn't know the widow of God. So he came to the servant of God for Jeremiah. But you know, Jeddakaya had expectation. OK, if I go to Jeremiah, he will let me know the will of God. It might be God is going to help me to attack Babylon. So with that hope, with that expectation, he came to Jeremiah. So he asked him, Jeremiah, I know your servant of God. I want to know the will of God, the Babylon trying to attack us. What should I do but everyone what Jeremiah spoke to him. Verse 9. This is now you understand the story of chapter 21 right When you're reading together pastor. What is the story but I'm summarized right. It's the background, the Babylon trying to attack to Judah. So at that time came over Judah, what is his name? Jeddakaya. So he wanted to know the will of God. So he came to Jeremiah with the servant of God. So Jeremiah spoke to him, he that advised in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence. But he that calls out and falls to the Chaldeans, that beseech you, you shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a pray. So everyone what Jeremiah spoke to Jeddakaya, you have to surrender, am I right? You have to surrender before Babylon, then you are going to leave. But this is the problem part between the voice of Jeremiah and what he expected. So Cheddar Kaya never expected because Jeremiah what he had expected. Maybe if I ask the servant of God, he is going to guide me how God is going to help me, how God is going to attack the Babylon. This is what he expected about the voice of Word. The word of God is totally different than expected. What is said? You need to surrender before Babylon? If you were cheddar Kaya, what you gonna do? You want to surrender? What you want to fight with Babylon? When you're reading the Bible, you need to tell, oh, this is my story. Oh, this is your story? Then this is not good for you. What if I'm Jeddakaya? Everyone? Sometimes you come to me, right For fellows, right? Even not me. Sometimes you need the guidance of a church, guidance of a servant of God, isn't it? So what he really wants to know how God is going to help us, how God is going to attack them. But the answer of Jeremiah is totally different than expected. Surrender to them. Do you want to surrender to enemy of the Judah? No, he didn't want it, but at least the reason why he want to see the Jeremiah because he wanted to know the will of God. But he says the point becoming the problem our spiritual life. He wanted to know the will of God. He found it, but that will of God is a totally different what he really wanted to do. So first nine again you need to be surrendered to Babylon and you will leave. But everyone before he mentioned about first nine, look at 1st 8. Could you look at first say it all together? God Presents Two Ways: Life or Death And on to this people. Thou shalt say thou, says the Lord, Behold, I said before you the way of life and the way of death. There are two ways. What is the first way? Way of life and way of death. So Jeremiah the servant of God show to show to the Chedakkaya two ways. OK Chedakkaya, there are two ways you can select. One way is way of life, another way, way of death. What are you going to select? If you truly want to serve God, not our worldly, if you want to truly personal fellows with God. Everyone made this happen in our heart. I want to do this but God's saying no what I have to do? I don't want it, but God said to do it. What I need to do. If we just come to church without any thinking deeply, I'm satisfied. I'm listening the Word, I'm the member of a choir, I'm doing, witnessing, I'm doing this and that. But that's not the spiritual life. If you stand before God every moment this happened in our heart, the will of God, your will conflict in your heart. At that time, what are you going to do? Do you want to select your heart or do you want to accept the heart of God? Do you want to follow your thoughts or do you want to follow the Word of God? This is the turning point of our spiritual life. As you want, we want to select the way of life. But the way of life that Jeddakaya selected totally different. What he expected, what he think in his mind. What is the way of life in the heart of Jeddakaya? Fighting with the Babylon and defeat them and conquer them. This is the way of life in his thoughts. But when he stand before God, when he stand before servant of God, that's the way of the death way of life. You need to surrender to Babylon. But Jeddakaya doesn't like it. I don't want it. I don't want it. Yes, he wanted to know the will of God. That's why he came to Jeremiah. But once he discovered the will of God, what he found this is that I don't want it. If thou wilt assuredly coffers unto the king of Babylon's Prince, then thy soul shall leave, and this city shall not be burned with fire, and thou shall live and dine houses. 18 If thou wilt not Co force to the king of Babylon's Princess, then shall this city be given into the hand of the audience, and they shall burn it with fire, and thou shall not escape out of their hand. OK, There are two ways. If you surrender to Babylon, you and your family, your people will be OK. But if you not surrender, they will make the fire that will burn it. You and your family, your city, all going to be trouble. If you are a Cheddar Kaya as a king of Jamaica, as the king of Kingston at least, what are you going to do? You need to kneel down, you need to begging, you need to surrender to Babylon. Then everyone will be fine. If you're not, they were going to die and what are you going to do? But look at this Jeddakaya. Do you think he didn't know the widow of God already? He knew it. He knew it through the Jeremiah. He heard it. He knows what is the widow of God. He clearly understand. But look at verse 19 and Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I'm afraid of the Jews that are full to the Chaldeans. This they deliver me into their hand and they mock me. OK, now to the Kaya. What do you think about it? If I surrender them, they mocking at me. Hey, are you a king of Judah? You are begging to us. So what he worried about? Not his country, not his people, not his family. What do you put people mocking at me? I feel shame so I don't want to surrender. This is what he decided. This is what he decided. So he didn't surrender to Babylon because of what? Because of his personal matter, emotion, feeling. I don't want to be a shame person. How can I kneel down before my people? I'm a king, I have a proud so I know God want me to kneel down and beg him and surrender him, but I don't want it. I don't want it as he is the King of Judah. He selected what his own decision, his own thoughts, rather than the Kaidans of God. So he didn't surrender. So do you know what happened? He didn't surrender. He means what He followed his own thoughts, right? This is the moment opening the door of the way of death. He opened the door, let me go. Why our church keep talking about throw away your thoughts, don't follow your thoughts, deny yourself no matter how you write, you need to put down before the word of God. Why our church kept saying about this because when you decide to following your thoughts, it means you're opening the door of way of death. That's why we can't mention about it. This is a very important part of our spiritual life. Without it, any can just come to church. They enjoying sharing, they celebrating, they sing a song without this, but without this you can't follow the widow of God. You can be a religious person, but you cannot be a man of a face without denying yourself. You can sing a song, isn't it, without denying yourself. You can do offering, but that's not the spiritual life. Anyone can do it. But what we really need when your thoughts and the word of God conflict in your heart, what are you going to follow? What are you going to accept? Either the word of God or your thoughts? You can't accept both of them at the same time. Kasho to Jeddakaya Two ways we of life way of death. This is not only for the Jedediah even this morning can show to you two ways, way of life, way of death, but what is the problem way of life that can showing to you totally different what you expecting totally different. You want to fight with the Babylon. This is way of life in your thoughts. But Car said that's the way of death. You need to surrender, that's the way of life. But Jeddakaya, what he did somewhere stand up. So Jeremiah said if you surrender, coward save you. But to the Kaya, No, I know what you are saying. I know we don't forgot. But what if I surrender to them? They were walking at me. Because of that, he didn't surrender, so he brought a lot of death, a lot of occurs to him, to his family, to his country, to his people. So he followed the way of death even though he didn't want to go. But when he following his thoughts, eventually he entered the gate of the way of death. Jesus' Example: Denying His Will to Follow God Everyone as you are the Christian you want to be like Jesus, right? Your spiritual life, isn't it. You want to be like Jesus, right? What is that I want to be a Jesus what that means you want to be help others. What is the way of spiritual life of Jesus Christ You want to healing the people is that you want or you want to be a more holy you want to stop sinning This is what you want, but what is the spiritual life of Jesus Christ? Why you want to be a Jesus like Jesus? What is that means you also want to walk the same path of a phase right? That you just walked right? What is that? Could you open the one by every verse? May 226, 1st 39. May the 26th verse 39 This is the past that you just worked in his spiritual life. 39 And he went a little farther and fell on his face, and prayed the same. O my Father, if it be possible, let this cop pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt. Jesus has his own will because he has flesh. He felt afraid die on the cross. He also fell hunger. He fell sleepy. He felt tired because he has the same flesh with us. So when he knew the will of God, I'm going to die on the cross, he didn't want it. He didn't want it. Do you want it? If we die on the cross, I will save all the people in Kingston. Then you want to die on the cross who own it? Even they die if I if I OK, it's a better way, right? Anyone die? He has his own will, but he denied it and he accept the will of God. But we are opposite, even though we knew the will of God, we ignoring it and following my thoughts, my desire, as like the Jeddakaya, it brings a lot of earth, death. Once we decided following my thoughts, opening the door of the way of death, everyone tell it the same story. Naaman's Healing: Turning from His Thoughts to God I will show you one more story exactly same like Tedkaya. I will explain more in detail about two different ways. Could you open the Bible? Second Kings chapter 5 Second King chapter 5 from verse one. This is the story of Naiman. You may know this story very well. Second Kings, chapter 5, verse one. Now name. Verse 3 and she said unto her mistress, would God, my Lord, were we the prophet that is in Samaria for he would recover him of his leprosy. So one day, little maid in his house, Lord, if you go to servant of God Elijah, it will definitely heal you. How do you know? I promise about it. I know he's a servant of God, He has a power. So why don't you go and ask him? He'll be kind to you. So really, let me go. Let's move to verse 9. So Neyman came with his horses and with his chariot and stood at the door of the House of Eliza. Now what he following his his thoughts is this way of life or way of death? What if he following his thoughts eventually he will not enter into the Chodan River. He will go back to his country. Then what happened? He's going to die in his mind. I'm so right. I'm so correct. So he followed his thoughts, but he didn't know. Once we decided to accept his thoughts, he already opened the gate of the way of death. He didn't know. We do not know. That's why we keep following what I think, what I feel like, right? Even though it is totally different with the word of God. You don't know why you're working on it. Eventually you will know how this is the way of death. So now he's following his thoughts. I don't want to go to Jordan River, the rivers in my country, much better. I expecting at least he come out and pray to me, but just to send the messenger I'm the captain. So he following his thoughts. What is this way of death? But while he was walking the servant beside of Neyman, they said verse 13 and his servant came near and speck unto him naman and said, My father, if the prophet advised to some great thing, Buddhists do not have done it. How much rather than when he says to the wash and be clean, he means what the servant beside the name. And when they look at the name, and hey, what are you doing just to go and wash? The servant of God said just to go and wash and you will be fine. But why are you following your thoughts? Where are you going stop And they said no man what if the flappy said to you doing great thing you wanted to do it right but just wash your body 7 times. But why you are so furious? So naman on the way to walking in the day of the way of death? He thought about it. MMM, right, why? I'm following my thoughts. If I go back to my country, I can't heal. So he turned away. Look at this 1st 14. The servant of Naimam persuaded him. Don't go just try 7 times and let's see what happened verse 14 then when he down and dipped himself seven times in Jordan according to the saying of the man of God everyone, this is very important first time he following according to his thoughts. This is a way over death, but he repent. Now he walking in the different path, but this way is what according to the word of God according to the word of God, right? This is the way of life. So there are two ways. Second King Chapter 5 First ways, way of death. Another way, way of life. What is the way of death? Following his own thoughts, following his own decision. No matter how it looks, right? No matter how it looks like. Correct. Why is he following the way of his thoughts? This is a way of death. But at a certain moment he turned away everyone. This is repentance in the Bible. Repentance. It does not mean begging to God or by your sin. Please forgive my sins. This is not repentance. Repentance means what? I'm following my thoughts but turning away and I'm following the word of God. He was walking on the tail way of death, way of death, but he turning away. Now look at this all according to the saying of the man of God. Now he following according to what the car said. This is a way of life, way of life. So any flesh came again, like onto the flesh of a little child and he was clean. Everyone liked Jeddakaya like the Naaman even today caught showing us two ways, way of life, way of death. The Essence of Repentance: Forsaking Our Own Thoughts Why God wrote this story? What is the message for us? Just all long time ago there was a king. A long time ago there was a cheddar Kaya. I said you're hypocrite. I said you're chameleon. When you come to church, you change your church color. When you meet a friend, you change your friend the color. How many colors do you have? Two, three. No more than 10. But when you come to church you looks like very holy, but you cannot deceive God who will go to heaven, who will go to hell? Good person going to heaven, bad person going to hell, then including me. There is no one can go to heaven because we are bad, so bad. We are descendant of Adam. We have a factory to make the scene in our heart. 24/7 is never and never close. So who will go to heaven? Who will go to hell? Same way there are two ways, way of death, way of life. Who is going to hell? The person who accept the way of death. In other words, the person who accepted their thoughts, who is going to heaven, the person who accepted the word of God, everyone. Could you open the Bible? Isaiah chapter 55. Isaiah chapter 55, verse 7. Shall we with all together with a loud voice, verse 7, Isaiah chapter 55, verse 7123, go? Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 1st 8. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. 1st 9:00 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts and your thoughts. Do you want to try and understand God? You can't. How can you make one heart with the God when you negotiate with the girl? OK, you accept my heart 50%, I will accept you are 50%. No, only one way you deny. You make empty your heart completely and accept His will as it is. Because as you see your thoughts cast thoughts never same if it is the same, you are not human being, you are God. That's why always the conflict in our heart we need to select one is going to accept as a final decision in my heart, my thoughts or cause thoughts, my thoughts or his word depends on that someone walking to the way of death, someone walking to the way of life. So look at verse 27. Look at first verse 7, verse 7. This is explaining how can we become a righteous if you have a sin in your heart, listen carefully. I will tell you how can we become a righteous from the Sinner. Verse 7, Isaiah chapter 55, verse 7. Let the wicked forsake his way. Look at this and the unrighteous man his thoughts everyone what is unrighteousness? What is unrighteous means in the Bible who is an unrighteous man because the cast hope to unrighteous man, you need to throw away your thoughts. It means who is an unrighteous man? Who is a Sinner? Top person holding my thoughts? If you say I am a Sinner it means not because of you coming sin because you still holding your thoughts. This is unrighteousness. So now can speaking to an unrighteous person, can speaking to the Sinner, if you want to go to the way of life. Unrighteous meant his thought. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous forsake your thoughts, and him return. His return means repentance. Repentance again does not mean begging to God. Repentance means turning away the direction on the way to your thoughts, but as you like the naman, turning to the way of the world according to the world, and let him return unto the Lord. It means you return unto the word of God. You return unto the will of God, everyone who is going to hell, the person who keeps holding my thought, which is thought I'm a Sinner, I'm a Sinner, but you're not Sinner. Romans 3: Justified by Grace, The Way of Life Romans chapter 3. Look at this Romans chapter 3 verse 3. Romans chapter 3 verse 23. Look at this. Look over Romans chapter 3 verse 23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. All have sinned. All means what? Male, female, Jamaican, Korean, Canadian, Japanese, Chinese, Handsome man, ugly man, beautiful woman, ugly woman. Forever. All men, including Pastor Joshua Cassette, all have sinned. Who can say no? I never commit sin, I'm holy, I'm never commit sin. I never lie. I never commit adultery. In my heart. We are all sinners as we are a descendant of Adam. What about Mother Teresa who got the Peace Prize? Nobel Prize? She committed a sin because I believe in Bible. I don't know who you are, but I believe in the Bible. Bible said all have sinned. This is true. This is what of God. So we were born as a Sinner. We are Sinner, but everyone not only this look at verse 24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption. There is a in Christ Jesus. There are two people keep staying in verse 23. Another person by the grace of God move into verse 24. There are two types of Christian. The person who belongs to 23 keeps saying I'm a Sinner. I'm a Sinner because I come sin who say no yes, we know we are a Sinner, but why Jesus died on the cross then to make you a Sinner continually before Jesus died on the cross we were Sinner but even after he died on the cross if we still a Sinner why he died on the cross for what we were Sinner verse 23 or have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Yes, but between Sinner to righteous who is in there Jesus Christ he died on the cross for our sins by one offering he obtained eternal redemption for us. So verse 24 in justified freely by the Christ through your behavior, through your repentance, through your cry, no, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus everyone verse 23 if we stand there, this is way of death. This is the person who following my thoughts 24 way of life, accept the word of God. Where are you 23 or 24? I think you need more sermon. You want to do it right? Where are you? Are you in 23 or you move on to 24? If we moved 24 by the redemption of Christ Jesus, then are you Sinner or righteous? We are righteous, we are righteous. This righteousness is not yours. God made it and given to us righteousness of God. There are two ways, way of life, way of death. What is the way of death? Following my thought as it like the Cheddar Kaya as it like the Naiman, but fortunately Naiman, he turned away and repent and following the word of God, which is a way of life. He perfectly cleaned who can go to heaven, the person to accept the word of God who is going to hell, person who accept my thoughts. I'm a Sinner, I'm committing sin, but the word of God said you are not Sinner already you've been justified. You are righteous. So I hope everyone every day with standing between two different ways, way of death, way of life. I hope no matter how you are correct, no matter how you feel like you're right.
