Week five with a headliner to go tonight, but Nate Tyson joins us again for both real-on Yahoo Sports as amazing as the product was week four. You could argue the product not as amazing in week five but still a lot of fun which is the beauty of this sport because even ugly games like Seattle San Francisco. You're like this is kind of awful but it's also kind of great for a bunch of different reasons. So I want to start there. Let me ask you kind of if you were doing like college football resume right and you're going all right who's got the best win is Georgia. You know at BAM of the best win is text speeding on how state the best win is San Francisco even with his ugly as this was because whoever lost this game felt like they gave it away which is the way this game was playing out. I mean it was up close the 35 points off eternal where's it one point or something like that. Is this actually though the best win San Francisco getting up to Seattle and winning this of any team this season. I think so that was a good question because I actually was like oh no there's got to be and I started racking up some of their teams have good records and I'm like yeah you know the one that's a sneaky better win that's going to age better is the Jags over the Patriots that's one that that's going to age better because I will talk about the Patriots I'm sure but no I I think it is because also these two teams were right they made a lot of mistakes they were actually exactly equal essentially in just how the good plays the successful plays explosive plays that everything was about equal it was the one turnover that turned it you know turns the tie for the four and airs the one plus one I guess is in turnover differential but I again do that suplex rate they had the exact same suplex rate in the game which is so rare both finished with 42.7 that that that's crazy to me because usually there's a little differences in those numbers but just speaks to how equal these teams were but I for an airs defense at the very least answers some questions to me because I know what their offense can be you saw what they turn into in the second half and then there's the oh yeah Mike Evans a part of all this but I do think that was the most impressive one because going to Seattle's never a joke I still think to see actually one of the best teams but to the four and airs I think they answered the most questions so yeah I really did I that really picked my brain a little bit and I kind of went through every team's wins surprisingly the Broncos got a couple good ones too with the Jags and the Rams and the Rams win is going to be is up there but it's at home it's not you know again not only not on the road but not at Seattle all places I love the Jacksonville call but at the time with the way New England was playing versus the way it may has looked the last few weeks you're like okay well historically depending on of New England ends up finishing with double digit wins you know maybe if it's training in that direction we're going to spend some time in the past so I don't want to get derailed from all that I also think there's some like there's a signature element to this too because perty if you go through his three worst games or the last two seasons they're all against Seattle right and granted they're banged up at the end of the year last year where the cons corny points whatsoever so there's a bit of a like hey perty's good except when he plays the Seahawks and perty had elements of of really struggling and I think there's these plays I'm just starting to realize like more and more with perty there's a two yard game on a completion that he had where he had a swing around in the pocket he avoids the sack he gets it out and it's a two yard game and I'm like that is an incredible play right there and no one's going to remember it yeah and I had to like rewind it to go do you realize all the shit that he was dealing with and Brady obviously complimented it as well but it wasn't like Brady was raving about at the point where I caught it because like sometimes that can happen with the announcers that I really like and what I loved about the Evans drive and how different it was from the field goal drive is like Evans has 75 yards of production on that drive he gets the PI in the end zone then he gets the two point conversion good friend Brandon cooks gets the touchdown and all that and because of the game and the situation and the matchup it's like okay this is what we're going to do and then the game winning field goal drive it was like really run heavy and it was so funny watching that like next to the chargers where it's like hey so you guys have four rookie offensive lineman you can't fucking block knowing gets any separation but you're just going to do the same thing all the time and Shanahan within the game drive to drive completely changes the approach and it shouldn't be that hard maybe we shouldn't be raving about Shanahan doing but like it just stands out it stands out and that's why it drives me crazy when everybody gets on Shanahan's case I know I again I what he's done this year I mean every year I always do this I guess as soon as I start kind of cooling that's cooling but going like you know looking at other guys going like man that guy's pretty good a play called Liam Cohen look what he's doing it's like oh yeah Shanahan's mid game adjustments and also again I brought this up last week with a kittlescreen where there's a backup tight end knowing exactly what to do right with this is that they got to formations they weren't running the whole game in the fourth quarter so it's that he's getting to you know he what he does with the window dressing is always so cool because it's the same run plays it's just how he gets to them is what the tweaks the different x's and different spots and there's K on black the rookie you know hitting the whole knowing exactly what to do so it's like they're helping with CMC there but even on that they that drive uh you know top the deal goes off yeah the field goes that they ran the draw to CMC but it wasn't a draw essentially it was draw footwork from Purdy and CMC and you see the see-ok safety is kind of backing up but then the the run play was just a normal kind of what they call split zone run play but again they had run that the entire game and also he's going to drop in the fourth quarter on the on the game winning drive you know like that's what's interesting is that he pulls different parts he's like oh we have this in the bag okay let's pull it out of the bag other teams would just be like all right we've run this play three times already let's get back to it like they don't have the changeups that he can always just get to in the fourth quarter anytime in the game really and that's and then that's what's just nice is that Purdy again was kind of scattered shot in some of the decisions like the pick um was you know just a it's called Palms coverage but it's really really nice play about the C-ox too but they baited them essentially um they're reading the routes outbreaker comes corners gonna fall off and then the safety rallies to the back end um but on that play it's just nice that's like okay throws the pick all this stuff's happening and does matter next drive hey we'll just keep doing what we're doing hey we'll just go back to the stuff that is working or tweak the stuff that was work before so the run game the run game aspect of that was just so nice even if it's been stifled and I mean the C-ox are so hard to run against and they are like okay let's get to this formation that we haven't run there's one there's one on that drive it's called a hit formation so two titans next to each other or wing um and they run zone so it's just a staple play but because they hadn't done the whole game the C-ox linebackers are kicked over and you can see them all looking at each other like are we good here and then it goes for like an eight yard game it's just those like they make he makes defenders hesitate with staples and not a lot of other offenses can do that they make it look so hard so again when you compare to other guys trying to make their staples look so hard his stuff is just so so good dynamic I imagine we get some pushback and we're like well how gonna be the best win of C-ox or three and two well you've got to drew lock parts of it you've
you got the turnover fest against Washington, and you could even make a point of like, man, Seattle's giving the ball up a lot here. They have nine giveaways, but oddly, they're still plus two, internal remargin, which if you look at any teams who have eight or more giveaways, there's 10 teams in NFL that have eight or more giveaways, Seattle's the only one that has a positive turnover margin. So they still lit it up yardage wise against Washington, and it was just kind of one of those strange games. This game, the turnovers kind of can't see each other out because for everyone, you could say, well, this one was bad. It's like, all right, but then San Francisco has the Dibo fumble. I thought Brady was just awesome on the Purdy explanation that you just gave us. It's like, hey, this is how somebody who purdyed, like, we put him in that trust here, of like, he's not going to make this mistake. So what happened, oh, here's what happened, is they did something that's very, like, it's reading the route. So it's not even a predetermined thing, and Seattle's so good, so well coached, they have smart players that figured this out. By the way, another awesome explanation on the darn old interception, which he was far less forgiving, where he's like, if you have a corner that's even or just slightly behind the tight end, the corner's going to win that throw every time on two. And it's like, man, Brady just continues week after week with these bangers of going like, how is no one else? Like, I'm not saying no one's ever said any of these things, but Brady will have these moments where he can even explain something that's complicated and it makes it sound simple, which is what a broadcaster is supposed to do. So I got to stop doing this Brady thing here, although I don't really want to. - I agree. Count how many times he made noises in that game though, that's what killed me. - Oh, oh, or oh no, because the quarterback was about to make like, darn old, especially. Darnels is not seeing it well right now. Like, that's another thing that's standing out to me with the Seahawks, but the turnover differential too. Last year, they were bad, it would turnovers as well, and it didn't matter. They're bad on third down, bad on turnovers. They were expected to light it up. - Though you're right about the two, yeah. But we also realize like what Seattle needs from him, need him to be right in the middle of the back, you know? That's it. - And get into the place. That's it. - That's just, that's their math. - Yeah. But I'm with you, like it, them at three or two, like I don't want to hear it with that defense. - There's gonna be really good. - Yeah, it's not gonna matter. - There's no one like that. - Best teams. - Yeah, right. - I want to talk to you to four-in-hours defense. That's, again, you can run on them, and you have to run duo, which is the Attu Man concept. That's easier said than done. The Seahawks don't have the horses for that in their zone team. I think one of their, they won't play. I think it touched down or something like that. That was duo. But they, I want to just highlight some of the four-in-hours defenders is all these young guys are showing up. Grayson, Halton, their rookie defense attacker, had a huge game. He had the fumble in the end zone, but he also had a sack. He was bullying guys. I think Malik Mustafa, who's not a rookie, but he's a young safety. I mean, that guy's a heat-seeking missile. Michael Williams came back, clicked really well against the run. I was watching him, because I mean, this is supposed to be a game record, you know? And it's obviously been a tough start with the injuries and everything, but I was just like, okay, there's 98. Like, I want like a two-month runway of this guy to see what he's going to add to a pass rush that I think going into that game was sixth and win rate, the pass rush. And then you're adding him. I mean, that win rate's probably going to be even higher after this game this past weekend. Yeah, and they have a fun, I'm glad you brought the pass rush. That 'cause Bosa is that. Bosa, right. Yeah, and they have a really cool rotation. Key on white. Oh, so the Kazooa, Ramella, Hyde, Ogle, Ogle, Ogle, Ogle Rockwell. Oh, she had easier names for me. But they, that's part of it. That was actually pretty good. And that's why you can run on them. They're a little smaller, but how you offset that is, hey, we create TFL, Grayson Holton. Our, that's what's also nice about Michael Williams, is that when they get on third and fourth down, he can kick inside the defense tackle. And it's kind of, he can be a game hunter, you know? A Mishmash Hunter, and he can push the pocket with all these speed guys that they have. And that's something I've maybe, I wouldn't say I've underrated, but I've kind of just been like, I want to see it against better teams, better offenses that, you know, aren't the dolphins, you know? I want to see what this actually looks like. And now I'm buying more into it. There's ways to attack them. And that's the other thing. They have this guy Fred Warner, who just erases, I've compared him to Kenbae Motombo. Just, it's, sometimes he doesn't get the blocks and the interceptions, but it's kind of a, no, you don't come in here. You don't throw over the middle. And that's what Darnell wants to live. He wants to throw over the middle. He can do anything between the numbers yesterday. Seven of 13, 67 yards between the numbers. That's a Fred Warner stat. Because it's, he, you don't even try. Because if you run all these high levels, he was seven of 13 for 67 yards between the numbers. Darnell was outside numbers. He was 11 of 14, 128 yards. But Darnell wants to live over the middle. He, that's a shaning hand Kubiak offense they run. That's, all those JSN plays, if you notice, were more outside. They weren't running high lows and benders and everything like that. When Warner can just take that away, and he does it to all the quarterbacks. You know, Bo Nick's last week doesn't throw over the middle, so it kind of didn't feel it. But these teams that want to generate yacke, like that is, he's making, just Warner in the middle, because he knows how to read the offensive formations and offensive, like kind of concepts. He just takes it away. So that's why I compared him to Motombo. It's like, he's not going to always get the block, but you're just not going to try him. Like, I'm not going into the paint against Fred Warner. That's what he does. So he's playing like a defensive player of the year candidate right now. Yeah, and JSN on that drop that you do not expect, which you get, he pulls that down. Then we have a different result. And we're going, all right, you know, again, it's weird. That's just, I'm sitting here going like, hey, Seattle's fine. Like I'm just not going to worry about it. So that's, yeah, that was my takeaway. Two really good teams going at it. Two of the best teams in FC and Andy out of foul to me. Okay, let's talk about Washington. There are times teams lose and you watch the post game. And then you watch the post game where it feels like a criminal investigation is being followed up. I felt like they had to talk more than Belichick did after there was potentially a series of killer on his team. But that press conference was unbelievable from Belichick. It was like, what? You guys wanted me to talk about this. So I've watched all the stuff. We go back to the play. It's very clear a pass play is called, because the offensive line sets to pass block called power pass, power pass. You know, it's spider two, why banana? That's spider two. That's spider two or a spider banana, technically. That's what that protection was. It was a pass play. It's called power pass. At least the protection as well. It's supposed to be a throw away. Right, and James looking at 87 tight end and it's immediately covered up. And then that's where the disconnect happens because clearly, if they are calling that play, I have a very hard time believing they're not like, hey, it's one look and then get rid of it. Jaden clearly freaks, runs, but then doesn't realize they don't have a timeout or is just completely freaked because he hasn't been playing much and coming back from music. I don't know. He doesn't get up right away. The other part of the play though, that tells you it was a throw away. So you actually had receivers that far down field. They come back up and you're like, oh my god, this is going to end up being a tie. I watched Quinn who said everything was on me, starts with me, all that kind of stuff. Jaden's post game was not great. I don't know if you've watched any of it. Oh, I did. Like you said, it's like a crime scene. I watched a lot of interviews with the commanders yesterday. (laughing) He said we got to relay that better. But then dot, dot, dot, ultimately this is on me because everybody just sort of knows what to say even when they definitely don't believe it. He kept saying top down multiple times. To me, that was somebody that was taking zero blame but making sure he gave you the standard. It's on me when he doesn't believe it. I think he made two mistakes. One, he didn't throw the ball away when it wasn't there at the tie-down and the only thing that they were showing. And there's no way they would send the receivers down field that they didn't have that relate to be like it's one looking, it's a throw away. And then I think he also didn't realize they didn't have a timeout or once he had screwed up, he just kind of went blank and like nothing happened. And I thought, it's not damning. It doesn't mean it's gonna derail his career. I thought his performance in the post game. Well, I can't say it was worse than what he did on that last play but it was not what you wanted to see. Right. And that's part about being a quarterback and then I felt a quarterback. And I could actually say college quarterback too because I must think I paid. Is head coach, number one, blame game, credit game, quarterback is number two. Whether that's fair or not, that's how it goes. And as a quarterback, especially one with 80 plus starts combined of NFL and college. High end college is two. It's not like this guy's coming from Wyoming or North Dakota, North Dakota. It's a easy coach. You know, but he's going from going from, you know. Arizona State, LSU, he's been under some coaches that actually know what they're talking about too. And I'm bringing that all up because that, you're absolutely right. That play was a throw away. When you're doing throwaways at the end of the game to just burn three, four, five seconds, get rid of the ball as opposed to just spiking it or something like that, is you the run power pass, like what they are spider two or spider three or you're on a sprint out. Because you're doing the same thing. It's a safe protection. All the offense linemen are just sliding. Like they don't have rules. So like they just slide elephants on parade. We step this way and slide down. The runner back in those, in those protections gets the edge, but defensive ends there, he cuts them. And same with sprints, same exact kind of protection. You just move the pocket for the quarterback as well. Because then you don't worry about the intentional grounding stuff. Hey, now the quarterback by design should be over the B or C gap, you know, so guard or tackle. That's the design of those plays. So to me, everything smelled walks like a duck, quacks like a duck. That was a throwaway play. You know, that was obviously a throwaway play. And I know.
people are saying, well, why didn't they kick it with 50 seconds? If they missed a kick with 42 seconds, then the Giants just need two first downs or a one big play to get themselves back and feel about range. So I do understand that aspect to like milk some of the clock, but I do, I agree with you, the, it was kind of like a compliment sandwich, you know, at the end, you know, people say that, where it's like, or whatever, a critique sandwich, you know, hey, yeah, it's ultimately on me, but it has to be top down and really communicated. But yeah, it's ultimately on me. Like, you sandwiched it a little bit, but it was, I think what's the most damning thing was Chris Paul, not the point guard, the office alignment gets interviewed and he goes, they go, was that communicated like to you? And he goes, it was communicated in the huddle. And he's like, that's how he says, and I was like, ah, there it is. There's the smoking gun. I ask an office alignment, man, they're going to tell you that was the smoke, but that was the smoking gun to me. And that's like, okay, so, you know, obviously the head coach is going to eat it, but the quarter back's got to eat it, too. And yeah, it was kind of disappointing. Just process everything. Because there was some arguments I saw today that was like, all right, wow, OC, it's just fifth game ever. Is there any chance that like he's screwing this up? And then you go, look, people make mistakes in their freakouts, but I don't want to read too much into it with a Jaden Daniels thing, but that was alarming. It was alarming that it was like, no, man, like, I'm not going to be up here. Because yeah, I don't want to, I don't want to do this right now. You know, I don't want to do this. And we can sit there. I know what everybody, because if you're watching the finish is like, oh, he's young. Oh, it's, you know, it's all these things. He was hurt. He came back. He hadn't played, and all it, and it's like, man, I don't know what to double coverage in the end zone. That's to me, like, ah, he, you know, he was pressing. He's coming back. That was the Drake May discussion a couple weeks ago. He's pressing. He's pressing. That was just game and clock management and game awareness, and they weren't worried. It's not like he was like, in the heat of the moment, I didn't realize it wasn't the Chris Webber, you know, banging the time out, you know, in the heat of the moment, like, not understanding it, it was they had time to marinate on that. And they have these things called scoreboards. No, so how many time, even if someone didn't talk to him, he could look up and all that time, see how much time he has left, see how many timeouts they have left. And just as a quarterback, you have to know that. Like, it's just, like, he's not a freshman in college, you know, 30 year in the pros. I know he's missed time, but like, you have to know that as a quarterback. Like, you absolutely have to know that. So that's where I'm, yeah, I try to protect players, or at least side was understand what the players are going through. But to me, on that one, I was like, that's all on the quarterback, or at least a big chunk of the blame pie goes on him. And so I was watching that game. I kept waiting for the disastrous James play. I'm watching going, okay, they're coming back. I was like, but this is, this has horrible. James turnover written all over it as they fought their way back in. And then it was scataboo, you know, and then the giants celebrated, like they won the division. Did you hear the commentary, too, before the scataboo fumble? They're like, man, now you say before the game, we're going to get this hops 15 touches, talking about scataboo. And then that was a, that was a, uh, as far as the announcer jinx right there, I didn't see that kind of one in a while. But yeah, well, the Herbert ones have been really good because it's like, well, you know, he's just going to settle down and get in there up first. I also, yeah, I thought Vilma and them, they, I don't think they understood the end game scenario either. And I think that's where some of the, like, what the heck just happened because they weren't aware of time. Because Vilma, who we love was like, oh, yeah, they're not going to throw it. And it's like, yeah, and if he watch, I can understand too, even live broadcast game looking down on the field. And usually he's one of the better guys, as far as like recognizing things. But that was the first thing I did is after I'm like, oh, I got to look at the offensive lineman, like I had to rewind it. I'm like, the offensive lineman or what they're doing here and tell me they're like, that was a pass. That was 100% pass. It's definitely throw away. He's looking over at 87. And from then on, it's just false apart on top everything else. You look at John Bates, the 87, he's going like, hey, what are we doing? Like, he comes back on like, he's the first one and a couple of lineman again, follow the lineman. They tell you everything is that Bates comes back on like, we got to get on the ball. You can tell he's just like, what, he's freaking out like and again, yeah, it was, there's just a disconnect there. I don't know if he thought they had three time outs and play it in overtime. But you only have two. But again, they had time to see and check out that. But yeah, I digress. Right. Because they stayed in the huddle forever. Correct. Yes. So there's all sorts of time. It's not like you ran the play. And then you got right up to run the next one. They changed personnel on this. You know, they, they, they brought out, they took tight ends out, I think. Yeah, to change what they were doing. Yeah, they subbed out. So I just have a hard time believing that all these things are happening and that there isn't like, okay, hey, if it's not there, get rid of it. And we don't have a timeout. But I don't know, whatever. I don't know if it's going to be a Dan Quinn, like, hey, that's where I went wrong. I think it'd be too dramatic to say, like, hey, that's what's going to happen with Jayden Daniels or all that kind of stuff. But like, there's, it was just a little bit like, man, you're going to have to be, you can't just tell us it's on you when you're definitely telling us it's not on you over and over and over again. Yeah. But look, a lot of this post game stuff kind of drives me crazy. Anyway, and that's a perfect pivot into Jacksonville, Philadelphia. So Philadelphia has down four linemen. I mean, talk about the Ravens and their center issues right now, trading for Camjurgens. And Philly with their offensive line situations, like, we'll trade them to you. Like, that's its own little subplot that's so strange that they have their issues, like a second rounder for Camjurgen. Done. They're like, we can't find. We're going to the Canadian league to look up centers right now. If you're the Ravens. So little, little side plot to all this. Philadelphia's day one starting offensive line to what they rolled out there in London, four different guys next to my lotta. No Barclay, no Devente Smith. So I kind of was talking about this gaming, like, this is a classic NFL spot early game London, all these guys down. Philadelphia will make a game of this because this is what this league is. But that Eagles second half scoring by week 10 points, 10 points, zero points, zero points, three points. I think tech to bring out the worst scoring second. They are Denver in the second half on offense. And yet no one like, look, no one's going to care about like any they can run the football, push push, all these different things, the good Jacksonville part of it with a parker wash and touchdowns. It comes down to the decision at the end where the more I've thought about it, looking at again, Cereani got incredibly unlucky. The decision is fine. Yeah, absolutely fine. But it's more the kick. Don't kick a missile where the guy can run up on it. Like that's not the the the process was fine, the execution. And again, that's, you know, play you expect players to actually do that. And on top of it, you know, there's Hurricane Ron involved, Ron Torbert and his crew, which is if you don't know about ref crews, that's the one to always watch. He's kind of the their crew is the one that's going to make some messy games. And so as soon as I saw him and we saw the opening kickoff sequence with Josh Cameron, take him into the house, a legal procedure on the Eagles holding. They couldn't guess a replay of the hold, by the way. And then fights after the first play, I was like, oh, we're in for a treat today. I was I knew it was going to be a schlockfest. It absolutely was. But you mentioned the second half stuff. Like that's the 57% three and outs. Uh, uh, four or three play drives for the Eagles. It's it's unbelievable. Like they can't sustain anything in the second half. They finally did in the last drive. And even then some people are getting like the McCoy lemon or Hertz throw on the out. You know, McCoy should probably get down. Um, but also it's one of those things I actually was fine with Hertz's throw. I've seen some people dip picking that because gotter was open against the boys too. But I was fine with that. And you know, hopefully, let me get down. But you hopefully the kicker doesn't kick a missile to the returner and got down with one second. Yada, yada, yada. Also, there's a backup emergency long snapper in which I added to the appeal of this game or if you're into that kind of thing, uh, credit to the holder all day. But no, it's the Eagles. It's just like I, I said it's on my show last night. I was like, I just don't know what their identity was, even when they're healthy. And now that they're not healthy, it just feels so scar. Every time the deep, the defense blitzes them, they just feel so like, like, how can we have no answers this? And if I thought I was endearing Jason Kelsey can't let his center go because he was making old line calls in the middle of place and I killed me. Like he can't help himself. He sees the blitz and he's like, go, go, go, go. He stops himself because he's realizing he's talking out loud because what because that's what the center does. Like they, when they pass off a blitz, they're yelling to the guard or you know, to the hey, we're sliding this over. And I thought that was pretty funny too, but I mean, just credit to Jaguars for heating them up and leaning into what was working, which is heating them up. And then Hertz misses the one double move to Wix, which was a huge, huge play that they actually dialed up the right thing for it against all our blitz. But I know the Eagles are just, there's one of those factories of sadness teams right now, where it's just like, you became a win this game right now. That's two in a row. The Rams game last week too was just like, we can't win this game. Oh my god. What are we doing? Because we've had some of these games that the kickoff rules of like, has everyone figured this out yet? Or do we have multiple teams who just still don't really know what to do in that late moment window there? I mean, Dallas, screwed it against Baltimore because of the coverage that they played. They gave Baltimore the only coverage that they could even throw against to get the field goal range and then they gave it to them and then they gave them the second. I didn't think there was anything egregious with So the clock thing, Abdullah actually are
I used on the 53 yard return that he was counting it down in his head. I'll call bullshit on that one because I think he was trying to take that thing to the house. That's an incredible glory. Yeah, he's like, man, we're staying. I get to party here all week because we're not leaving and playing Houston. I'm going to be mayor of this fucking state or a kingdom or whatever it's called city. Yeah. Yeah, all these six. I won't see the names. I've nothing on me. I got to see the video him saying that because there's no way. If he tried to have a straight face, I might buy his jersey because that's in a ludicrous statement. And, you know, because it's Philadelphia, because they have a losing record for the first time since 21. Because it's seriani making some bold decisions on the coaching staff. And, you know, again, I'll say it because it's Philadelphia. He's going to get hit with all sorts of extra tax when I was probably more bothered by it until I felt like I watched it again and did more research and go. This is an unbelievable sit. This isn't not understanding the kick rules. This isn't a fourth-down decision. This isn't some of the stuff in the Bears game, which again, I think that's so wild because the Bears looked like the 85 Bears in the front that day, which, yeah. I mean, we want to talk about like a reminder of how ridiculous that was. I was watching me get the package and be like, that looks a little bit more bearish on D. But I don't, I don't think this is, I think it's just such a bummer. I think the whole NFC East is such a bummer right now that they can't, they think it's only happening to them and it's kind of happening to all of them. So I don't, I don't know what you're supposed to do with, with Hertz, no run game, no Barclay, no Smith and four new offensive line guys. I mean, really, it's a credit to their defense who are also missing a couple people. I thought the defense was, was an incredible part of the story had they been able to pull this thing off. Yeah, I mean, they made it hard like the Jaguar is offense. I mean, again, all those penalties help, but the Jags offense had a live and die by explosives, which again, what you want to do against Fangio, but that's hard living. In the second half, the Jags only had 12 successful plays like their success rate is 28%, but then they had eight explosives. So eight of their 12 plays were explosives. So it's like, they weren't getting on base, but it was big chunk plays when they were. But that was, again, like you said, Jalen Carter was dominant, like their linebackers flying around. I mean, when you're losing to one hand of catches, it's like kind of like, Hey, what do you want me to do? You know, like there was so much good in between all that kind of like, I know what the defense of identity for them is. And I know who their stars are and stars are. You had Zach Bond blown up the fort down before the first half, which I thought was such a smart play by him. On that one, it's really funny. He saw the formation. He was like, he's not even looking at Roger. You guys who's across from he's just looking at the backfield. He's like, you guys about to run some bullshit, aren't you? Like he's staring in the backfield the entire time that he nukes it. But again, smart defense. I mean, Quinney on Mitch on a grave play finally gets a pick. But they're making it hard on a really good offense. But when they on their own offense, just can't really execute. How about the red zone sequence for the Jags? That was, that was a, that was remarkable. They multiple delay 27 yard gain to strange. They just got into the one, they take a time out because also I think the play clock got started a little early. But I digress false start to your gain delay of game to make it second to go from the nine BTJ doesn't get bounds. Somehow, some way it was a smart play by the DB by the corner to push them out by willing. Delay game to make a third and goal from the 14 nine year again. Then fort down pass by they get snuffed out. So again, credit to the Eagles defense for just gaming up exactly what the Jags wanted to do. So it's just kind of one of those things where it's like the Eagles had their chances. But again, they just kind of their offense. It's just so scatter shot right now, which was watching you. I was down one hand. Well, you had another stat. You said, oh, yeah, hurts against the blitz 7 to 17 56 yards, 3.3 yards per attempt. One sack and again, if that hits that double move, it feels a lot better. But until you fix your blitz protection with your backup centers, all that's going on. Guess what teams are going to do? They're just going to blitz the hell out of you and make you earn it. And right now they can't burn it. Yeah, I mean, that's a tough miss because it's a wide open touchdown on the double move there. It's also is it is not the biggest hurts fan. I think that's a really tough throw staring at it. It is two guys in space, right? Throw them well. Yeah, I know. I was not shocked. He wasn't. I mean, you kind of hope like, hey, can I throw that's where he's like probably used to AJ Brown and Vante being like, they're going to find a way because it's like my zip code and I'm good here. It's going to be struggling for an hour. And then it's like, I just put a 14 on the board because of those two guys on the outside. Again, one's no longer there. One was not available. A man per go watch to rocks. He is. He's going to get so paid this off season. He he wanted to get paid this preseason. And then he was like, you know what, I'm going to go earn it. He's about to make a lot of money this off season. 21 pre-stab penalties for the Eagles so far this season. It would make sense though, it would make sense with what they've had to deal with in the offensive line. And a new system on top of everything else. So that's not exactly clean that part of the operation. I'm going to be honest. I don't usually get excited about loyalty programs. They promise big rewards. Then it's like, you actually have to eat 48 pizzas to get one free. So when I heard about the show, few rewards program, I was skeptical, shocking. I know me skeptical, but here's the thing. It's kind of annoyingly practical. You're already getting gas. We already grab and take out. We already buying snacks. You definitely don't need, but absolutely deserve with shell fuel rewards. You just get rewarded for that and not the fake points you'll never use way. It's actual savings on gas. And the part that got me the saving stack. So it's not like one sad little discount. It's you fill up, you eat, you shop and it all piles up into real savings at the pump. Joining takes less than three minutes in the shell app and you'll save on every fill after that. Literally every single one. So if you want my wreck, join the shell fuel rewards program and say, all right, let's do a little transactional stuff. I am blown away that anyone would give Arizona a second rounder for Marvin Harrison. I'm even more surprised that the Texans would do it. And it's not the record thing. Like I was reading Barnwell's piece today and it's just fantastic, by the way. I mean, you want to talk about covering every single angle. And I'll share some of those things from Barnwell for me, SPN on the pros and cons of this trade. But when you, when you'd heard he was going to be available, because that was kind of like a weird thing of like you, you clearly know he's already traded and then it's like, hey, he could be traded. That like appetizer breaking new shit that we're dealing with and all the sports now, which I don't quite understand what the fucking point of that is. I have anything I hate that sequence. By the way, the whole my timeline there. I was like, what are we doing? To me, it was like, I felt like they broke it too early and then they were trying to go like, well, you know, some, some, some things actually might happen here. And I was like, just, I don't know, you're pregnant or you're not pregnant, you know? You made the trade, you didn't make the trade. Like, what's going on here? But continue, sorry, I'll catch you off. Well, I don't have a lot that I want. I have actually a decent amount of that I want to do want to. But like, just, I'm not as concerned with the Texans in their records saying, hey, this would have made more sense this summer. I think the price is too high for somebody who like these people are generally always duds, all right? I like their receiver depth when Nico is right, he is one of the best. I'm not saying he's Jefferson or Chase, okay? But he's, he's behind those guys. He's nasty. I think Hutchinson is good. Correct me at any point. No, it's been all right. I know that the tank, Dell knee injury. Maybe they go, it's never going to be the same again because that thing was nasty. But that's sort of weak to weak with them. Higgins who I liked is out with the ACL. So there's still a lot there. This kind of tells me that Stroud's going to get whatever he wants this off season. If he played this big of a part of bringing in his former teammate from a house state. Yeah, he, okay, a couple of things. I agree too rich for Harrison because it's not a, oh, he's on a bad team. Hey, let's get this talented guy. It's a talented guy that has also been lackluster and also what's like, do you like football? Kind of lackluster, which is that's the scary thing about the end. Like that's part of scouting is like, hey, some of that kind of not just mental toughness, but like, hey, weekend, week out, you got to bring it. You can't just be picky and choosy about where you're going to have your spots. But I, it's a very fun thought experiment because I agree. Nico calls to me as a top five guy as far as receivers. He's one of the few aces as I call him where that's a one. And I can pull up as an ex CD. It's the two LSU guys. JSN, yeah, that was you guys. And then, yeah, I mean, that's to me, he's five, like he's, he's in that tier. JSN actually is in that group. But I'm not like whoever I'm leading out here off the top. I know. Yeah, that's I'm trying to wreck my brain. But not many guys can win as a true X and by true X, it's a split end. It's a guy that's on the ball and can run a three level route tree and win vertically. Win against press. He is one of the few guys that can dictate cloud, meaning cover two to his side. I think Randy Moss rules, Jefferson's like that. Chase is like that. You know, they are the guys that can dictate coverages. And I like to volunteer a lot. Devante is like a low end one to me, like, or not low end one, medium one, I guess. So I think he's top, he's top 10 to me.
Um, there's a couple guys like now, like, there's a couple guys I'm kind of start like marinating on like Christian Watson's rising up my rankings because he's just like so dynamic explosive. And that's like, sure, but like, not just not put together a season that's even comparable with these guys. Exactly. And also he gets dialed up some stuff like it's not him dictated. You know, it's like he's making defenses pay, but he's not dictating coverages gravity. Maybe that's the best way to put cool. It just seems so different to with how they use them to put him in this. Yeah. All right. There was a, yeah, there's our title. We were saying who goes up there as well. Who goes up there as well. But yeah, but he's different. He's a, I know he's kind of just this big burly guy. He can work over the middle and everything, but he's not going to get cover two to his side. You know, he's, it's, he's just his own thing, own kind of thing. But yeah, there's only a few guys that can get that. I think to me, there's five guys. Um, but no, Marvin's hair, Marvin Harrison Jr. to this point has not been one of those five guys. No. And that again, and this is, I, it's curious to me to, or I'm, I'm, it's a, it's a great thought experiment because I thought this Texans team, they have all these Patriots guys on their offense as far as coaches. And I thought they would like, you know, they're trying to be bully ball. We're going to drive me at you, run game, all that stuff. And I think they're going, they're just totally pivoting to a spread shred offense. And they're like, Hey, this is what Strauss good at. Like what, what a, what a rip it. And Strauss, like you said, he can get, dictate some stuff as far as like asks. And right now I, he should be, he's playing, I, I say comfortably as a top 12, top 10 guy, but even stat wise, again, suplex, he's fifth success. He's eighth, explosive play rate. He's sixth. He's not really kind of getting, like, he's not taking the bad sacks. Um, we talk about this, the stepping up as posibailing backwards. And I actually looked it up his first three seasons. He lost eight point two yards per sack, which was the most of any quarterback in the NFL. There's 37 qualifiers and he was 37th. This year it's 6.6. And okay, that's about the middle of the pack. But that was kind of the one stat I'm going to use to kind of like show like how he's seeing the game. He tore, he torched the blitz nine to 10, 90 yards yesterday, yesterday throws under two and a half seconds. He's getting it out. But the Marvin Harrison of this all, all right, maybe some of the run the football they save their lives. Oh, no, they're awful, awful. But I think that's what they realized. They're like, Hey, this is not us, which is, which is live and die with Stroud and chucknet to some talented receivers. And who actually have some synergy now? I'm sure too. If like, they're doing like a bigger picture, which none of us would do on the shows ago. I lose a shoot out the Buffalo. You know, since today's defense looks all world that week against us better. But, but you and I both love Stroud in that game. You've got the cults debacle where I still think they should have called the time out. We'll give them more time on the other side of the cults time or the cults field goal. And then you have the Dallas game. And you're like, all right. So we finally got our first win. But like, we're not, we are not those guys. Like we're not doing our draft board here. So that's why I think there's like another motivation with this all all the stuff. And into your point, like when you, it's, it's very easy to lose how well Stroud has played this year because of the O and four star. It's just hard for us to do those things. And if like it starts being all these thoughts like, man, it, like that's the one thing. Why is this defense so bad? And I'm not even counting the tennis egame because it's cam ward in this awful, awful Titans team to watch them play. I mean, God, they suck. They're watching. I just watch a good chunk of it again. And I'm like, this is miserable. Like, imagine I'm in the season, take us to this stuff. So I know, here's where they fight. They'll fire their CFO before the news. There's stadium opens anyways. It's all going to be a new phase anyways. You could say cost wise for Marvin Harrison Jr. because all the money's are even paid. That it's 23 million over the next three years. So like, look, even if he's a two, that's an unbelievable number there. All right. But there's all sorts of other numbers that suck for him. Next gen stats did this again. Barnwell had it where among receivers with 50 plus targets the last three seasons, he ranks last in separation. And that's what the tape would show you. So it's like, okay, well, if you're last in separation because he doesn't get the top speed anymore, he was clocked at 22 miles per hour. They'll have state. I don't know how often he did that. But he's getting 18 miles per hour on his routes, 3% of the time. That is a disastrous number. And then you go, okay, well, are you going to be Mike Evans? Are you going to be what I used to just love about geometry Hopkins? There was no such thing as a 50 50 ball with him. It was a geometry Hopkins ball, like it's my ball. So if you're not going to run top speed, if you're not going to get separation, then you have to win all these contested catches every single number that you look at. And if you watch the film to your point, like maybe I'll give up a fourth round for a guy that had this draft report on him for a guy who doesn't like football. I don't want to give you a second rounder when I'm wondering, do you no longer like this sport? Like what's going on with you? When you stack all these numbers up, considering their needs moving forward, even if you want to argue about the contract part of this, I'm shocked that they gave up a second round of for him. Yeah, and now they have to, they're going to be paying stroud. So draft picks become more of a premium to keep them cheap, you know, cost control contracts. So maybe there's contract is going to be up. And that, I mean, they're, it's just bizarre. It's not like they're four and one. It's like, yeah, push it, baby. They're one and four. And as high as I still am on the taxes, I still can say I'm a top 10 team. I really do. It's just one of these things where it's like, you better be right. And I do say, if I want to go glass half full, is that, because Marvin Harrison Jr. has been so disappointed to me. And I think again, too, is sometimes we think a guy six, three, six, four is an X like Neapol Collins, Deandre Hopkins, like you mentioned, Mike Williams when he was with the Chargers, you know, these guys that just dunk artists, T Higgins, Jamar Chase, like those guys are dunk artists. And they win those contested catches Mike Evans. He is more like his dad. He is going to be, he's just a taller version of his dad, which is he has to run a full route tree. He should run it as opposed to jogging. And I think his best routes have always been kind of in breakers. So like digs, slants, those things where he can let the route unfurl and kind of use his body control overs. Who know who likes to throw those? CJ Stroud. He throws at one of the highest rates over the middle of the field. What helps is that he's not an X. I just talked about X on ball. That's when Neapol Collins, they can win physically. Marvin Harrison Jr. is obviously not a physical player. He's finessey. So now he's a Z. Zs can be off ball. Zs can get put in the slot. Zs can get moved around. Hey, we don't like him against this physical corner. That should have some synergy. Like as far as how this all works, I'm really high on the old. I shock. They just, they just refuse to give him more wraps. So maybe I'm missing something. I'm glad you said that because I like it's good. Yeah. I know. I mean, there's a possibility here that you've just added the deepest units on your team. Yes. And give a second round. It's not like they were just like, hey, we got to take a chance at fourth rounder. It's like, you know, second rounder is the second round there. Especially like you want to talk. It's like great. First round pace to get traded. The NFL market treats him like used boats. Like it's just, I mean, I know Trent Richardson ended up getting a first, but that was because it was so fast. Like that should be the all-time rule and be like, they're this ready to move off of them. Well, now I don't want to give you anything for him. This is a little bit longer. I think was it was Trent Richardson? Was it 17 games? It was, yeah, it was middle second year, right? And yeah, I know. I know that should have been a bullet up. Like, especially a team of Browns needed all the talent that you get. And they're like, you're okay. I don't Ryan Grickson, man. That was unbelievable trade even in the moment. No, but that should be always like something you do where you go, yep, 17 games with Cleveland. And you're like, wait, they want to get rid of them. Then there should just be a rule in house goes, well, now we can't. We can't do it if they want to move off, even if we love the tape and we've done all the backtracks. Yeah, we were actually going to trade up for them and all this kind of stuff. Like if they want to move them this quickly, then we can't do it. And look, Marvin's got an extra year on the Trent part of this. And you can get into, hey, Houston runs a ton of motion. Arizona doesn't do that. Arizona didn't get creative with any of the stuff that they don't want to do with. Marvin's just trying to help him out a little bit. But I've just seen him off of the line without press, just going like, I'm not super interested right now. And there's no way to fix that if the guy doesn't want to fix it. And maybe they're bent on just strut having the house date connection. I'm just, you know, again, like that's it. But that's where I'm like, really, it's just so rich. And it's not the team, you know, other teams, okay, like the chiefs traded for him. I would be like, oh, yeah, totally. Like, you know, yeah, like they need that and also you got my homes and all that. But it's like Texans are one and four. It's kind of like, again, you better be right. I mean, it's not a first round pick all that stuff. But it's still it's very rich for a guy that just has been so lackluster and some of this stuff. And but again, strut is playing guys top five guys statistically right now or top eight. If you want to put it, like I would just this well leave it that that's suplex staff or quarterbacks right now. It's a little more at one. Pretty it to Josh out of three. May at four. Strout at five. Goffit six. My home seven, borough eight, DAC nine and Trevor ten. Stafford's 11. So it's all the dudes. And so even though the one of four strut is playing like that. And he's also the third youngest starting quarterback right now. It's a dark shirt. So it's may cam ward and then strut. So yeah, I to me, it seems like hey, we're appealing to him. And maybe that's part of it as well. So yeah, there's there's a lots of not here, but it's a fun thought experiment at the very least. If they're appealing to him, then you can just fill in the blank check whatever you want, which is probably always going to happen anyway. Hey, they were just going to pay at market, but it just means that like if you're making them play it out, you're just going to pay more. You're
is going to end up having to pay more over the deal. So if he has this much juice, then it tells you probably should have done the deal already. But I'm obviously aware there are things that I do not know. Let's close before quick hitters in some of the college ball that we want to do because we still have a lot of time here. But I want to try to get it all in. Drake May's performance yesterday was incredible. And if there's one thing that we knew that he could do is even without his top guys out there, like that's why even with AJ Brown going down and you're like, okay, but this is kind of what he did last year. And yes, I realize the schedule is going to be difficult, but he also had a really clean year. So like what? He's just going to be a stake prone and screw up all the time. Like a lot of it didn't really make any sense. These last two weeks, I think we're a much needed reminder of why he finished second in the MVP voting and why I think some of the fluke talk carry over from players started this year. It's like, I feel like it's going to get figured out. And he put on like a perfect performance again yesterday. And even when I wrote him up a couple of weeks ago, and again, I've been someone may was my number one guy in that class. I was like, some of his tape is some of the most fun quarterback tape I've ever watched. He's one of my favorite prospects I've ever watched. So then, and once he gets into the pros, his rookie year, he had like a top 10 rookie year. I just got waved way because what Jane Daniels was doing during that year. It was, I think it was like seventh and success rate all that stuff. And again, this is why I look at success rate because it's down to down consistency. Even during this, that first three games this season, he was 12th, you know, he's above burrow. He was above staffer. He was above guys that people were still going like, yeah, they're great, aren't they? And it was just are the mistakes explainable. And we can talk about college quarterback soon about it was same, same reasoning. But are the mistakes explainable? And to me, it was one of these were, yes, some of the interceptions were ugly. You know, I still think the first one he had the year to Romeo dobs. The sea arch was kind of like one of those, hey, dude, what are you doing? But the other ones, it's like, okay, he's pressing here or this, this guy ran the wrong route. He had a bad route. And you did this, this, this. But the rest is really good. You can point out a lot of stuff where he's getting on base. So I always use that term where he's doing the smart, the smart decision. He's making it quick. He's limiting bad plays. But then once you see this and you see, hey, what does he look like with a clean pocket? What does he look like with the Patriots kind of evolving their offense? I actually think McDaniel's and Doug Morone have done some nice things the last couple weeks. McDaniel is saying, hey, we're around the same offense. And it's like, not you're so much more emotion and formation differences and personnel change. They, their first round of Stevenson was they weren't pony personnel, which is two tailbacks. So Stevenson and Henderson are both on the field. They use Henderson as like a receiver insert block. Do they call it a SMU? Pardon? Do they call it pony because as a SMU? Yeah. Yeah, because the point is, hey, good job. Yeah, that's exactly why they call it pony. Nice. See, that's exactly where it comes from. Yeah. So it's two, when they have two tailbacks, it's just pony. So if you're like 21 pony or 22 pony, et cetera, et cetera. But yeah, but they, when you have, you're trying to get juice on the field. And also you can kind of dictate some stuff from defenses because usually when they face pony, they get a little safer. Or what kind of just, hey, we'll just get into like quarters and just kind of see what's going on here. But again, that was just a nice little twist where they run their same run play duo, which is you know, at you man scheme. And instead of a receiver doing it, they have Henderson in motion and it's a tendency breaker. And so again, I want to credit McDaniels and Morone for doing some stuff. But then may with a clean pocket, this is what he looks like and guys in the right spots is what he looks like. It's, he pushes the ball, but now he finds some check downs when he needs to. But then on top of it, he's such a great scramble. Like he's so dynamic as a player that it's, that's why he's one of, to me, one of the dudes. And that's better that out. But I test why he does the things that are hard, pushes the ball accurately with the timing is willing to launch it. He has that aggressiveness. You have to have a little bit of dummy to you to be in a week or back to be one of the guys that you have to. It's like, you have to make a mistake every once in a while. And I think that's what's nice is maybe he just got the cold water on him. He's like, okay, all right. I got it. I'm not going to be a dummy anymore. Not be dumb enough, like throw it in the back of the answer. Sometimes you need that. I've seen, we focus on quarterbacks so much. But then I've seen brilliant defensive backs like Troy Paul Mahler go rogue and get absolutely burned. And he's like, yeah, yeah, I'll stop. You know, like I, you know, you hear stories like, you got me that one. I did all the tricky stuff. I'd read, you know, like, hey, I did all the tricky stuff. You caught me on that one. But sometimes they need it. Sometimes they need to get a rain back in. And I don't know. He does the hard stuff. And it's not like the Raider's defense is a pushover defense. They're not great. They're well coached. They got some juice up front. And they've been playing pretty good ball. And I mean, he finished 14.8 yards per drawback 63% success rate nine explosives. And he's downed up to every single different guy. And I can get into play design too. But like execution was great. And I thought the oil line actually played really well. And that's what it looks like when you have some room to breathe in the backfield. Speaking of getting into the backfield, is Elijah Ponder for the Patriots a star? I think so. So I looked it up. Undrafted free agents. There's been one, two, three. There's been six undrafted free agents since 1994. That's when that if I went to seven rounds that have gotten eight or more sacks in their first two years. Two of those guys were Canadian guy or guys that play in Canada first. So they're like 28 years old in their second year. So if you look at guys that haven't been the Canada, he's only he would be the fifth to have eight or more sacks. He's eight and a half. There's first two years. And we're week five of his second year. He didn't start last year. Nope. There's a rotational guy. So undrafted Cal Poly. If you tell me you had a scattering or pull it on this guy, you're like, I actually had him on my top two. No, I didn't. He retired from being in the media. He showed up in the preseason. I was like, okay, I'm going to keep tap. And he beat Tristan Worfs one on one last year. I was like, who the hell is this guy? And it wasn't like a fluke win. He's dominated Tristan Worfs, which is like, like not a guy. It's like taking rainy Johnson, 450 feet. You're like, whoa, what was that? It was he dominated him. And that's where I was like, my antenna was up. But he's doing this week after week. I mean, it's not just it's pressure, sacks, and just winning one on one. He was reckoning all night. Physically, he looks like that guy. And because he's young too, man, and you really do notice it with like the young dominant players. And that's why I think like sometimes, like even if you're in a front office, you're going, okay, well, like physically, we know he's going to look like this the first three or four years. And then we'll see what happens is some guys just they can't take that beating into that second contract or whatever. You know, kind of like is that guy gotten slower or what's happening? So I think they're young players, especially 40 to 3, 270, 260, something like that. And then kind of you're kind of like, all right, wait a minute, like even out on an NFL field, he looks a little bit different because he's so twitchy. He had a play, Nate, where he rushes and then realizes it's a screen and gets back in and blows up the screen. And what he's asking his body at that size, the agility to do that. That was the play that jumped out way more than anything else because I'm like, Jesus, cause you see what he just did? I had, you know, go back, I had to rewind that play. And I go, that wasn't just the awareness on the screen where it's like, Oh, hey, I'm rushing. They're giving it to me. This is a screen. Let me go back. He diagnoses it. And just on a dime turns and gets back and makes the tackle. And it's kind of behind him too. Yeah. It's not in front of him. It's, it's an insane play from a guy that size. His, and I'm glad you brought up just like he looks the part as far as how he moves like his testing was outstanding. Like when he was coming out of a pro day, he 33 inch arms. So again, he's above board there. Big hands, which you can really see because he pop guys and strike guys. But then I always look at broad jump and three comb. Those are, there's some study I read years ago, like nine foot nine inches for an edge for broad jump. And then up sub seven two for three come, he had a six nine nine three come. So well under seven two, even with pro day inflation, add point one, that's still a seven one. We'll call it. But he had an 11 foot broad jump nine nine is the threshold. He had 11 feet. So that is, that is well, that's the okay. Now we're talking real broad jump. Yes. That is burst off the line. And you feel that. I mean, he, you can see tackles, long tackles go, oh, like, oh, we got into me real quick because the ball, he negates their length. And he's athletic enough to have those second moves like we started against the on dockets last week, where he can band and do all that. So no, he's real to me. Like and like you said, like I do think he is a budding star. And the fact that he might, the record for these under after guys in the first two years record, like arbitrary thing here, because cam wake with 14 sacks, cam wake was 28 years old. He has eight and a half. So he's he's doing some stuff that's unprecedented in the modern game as far as just what his draft stock was and what he's has become. But now I, they're defensive. And again, going to the Patriot, we talked about May, offensive tweaks, all that. Patriot's defense has impressed me this entire year. I think they do cool design stuff. They had no corners yesterday and Brock Bowers went off, but that's what he's going to do. But Kirk cousins didn't look comfortable the entire game. Of front, they not only have ponder, but they have Gabe Yakis who kicks ass, they have Milton Williams who kicks ass, they barmer when he's healthy, Dremont Jones is rotational guy. They do disguise stuff really well. Like this is a legit good defense. And if May and the offense are doing this without AJ Brown and actually doing some design tweaks, it's like, it's changed my tone. I actually picked the first season of Patriots when the AFC East did not feel good about that after the first couple of weeks. But it's one of One of these word now, I look at them daily.
differently as opposed to like, oh, they could be a nice playoff team, maybe. It's more like, no, actually, they're contender level if they can play like this. Like in that, and ponder is a big reason to that, because how just defense is playing. Okay, let's try to do two quick hitters here each as quick as we can. So we can at least give ourselves 10 minutes for arch, all right? Okay. Okay. My first one is a question. Who's your most surprising seed this morning? Did you look at the playoff seeding? It did. I mean, giants winning the lead in the FCE, but James Winston's got to be it, right? That's going to be the most depressed division in the in the league right now. Between Dallas's Tampa disaster, a tie with the other two teams. And then of course, Philadelphia, if you look at it, green bays the fifth seed today in the NFC. I know. I kind of, I was kind of out on them too. And now I'm kind of, I'm kind of buying back in a little bit. Actually, my quick hitter was going to be Packers related because I was going to say, I'll give it to you. Well, I'm just trying to sort out with the freaking NFC North is kind of just every week. I'm like, oh, maybe this is the team. I was feeling good about the Bears without Caleb. And now I'm like, oh, you had this defense. Yeah. Yeah. That's why I can't get to why I keep him the the Beijing kingdom thing. I feel like that was a strange. I mean, look, Ben Johnson's around it all the time. And I think Beijing's athleticism gets you really excited. But I mean, he had a handful of turnovers against the Jess, which would only be one that counted. And then I'm watching it yesterday going like, how many are on him? That's on him. Like that's on him. Yeah. So the runner-out play on third down, he gets bailed out with the penalty. And I was like, Oh, no, that's not how you should be playing. Like back up quarterback should not be doing the runner-out stuff. It should that ball should be out within two seconds. Just trust the design, know what you are. And it kind of puts a rest where that's the difference between every backup usually turns into a pumpkin, you know, at some point. And it was like, they hit midnight pretty quick with with Beijing again, keen up to an extent. You know, like, keen up. I do think I least knows what he is at this point in time. I'm used my age. But I do think that's like, it was a good reminder of the difference between a guy like Caleb and what those backups are. But then also again, if the Packers talk about May and offense align Packers sort out their own line just to be tolerable. Jordan Love was the most hit quarterback on record through four weeks. So the fact that he's just tolerable has some room to operate. Still got to hit a couple times. That's like the high end of that offense is like, Oh, okay. And if the run game can be again tolerable, then that kind of changes how I view them. Because I do think Jonathan Ganon that defense is playing good ball right now. So at the NFC North, it's just like I got a Viking thoughts and I'm like, Oh, okay, Justin Jefferson, you're really cool. But like, there's a lot of teams in the FC that are trying to sort out one unit. Cowboys with their defense lines with their defense. And can they stop anyone through the air? Bears with their defense, like, you know, Vikings and their offense. So all these teams, I think the NFC West teams are pretty, you know, pretty like they're the class right now at the top three. But after them, it's a lot of teams with one good unit and other unit that trash sort out. And that's that was kind of my quick hitter is like, just what are we sorting out of the NFC? It's just like, because I'm every week, I'm like, Oh, maybe this team. Oh, maybe this team. Yeah, the Vikings offense. I mean, great. It was kind of the merged best game, but it's like also saying like the hottest golden girl based on his game log this year. Um, let it also, you know, it depends on the whole of your, uh, also nice to have Justin Jefferson back. That's, uh, yeah, it was nice. I love it. It wasn't throwing a double coverage on Jefferson. Like that was a, that was a throw that also could not have worked out. And you could say, well, you could, you trust Jefferson. I wouldn't, I wouldn't want to throw that throw again. Corner fit. Flying underneath it. I was trying to get Murray the benefit of the doubt. It's like, well, at least he threw it and he got it down the trail that I'll give Murray this to. I think he was, he was better on his runs where he knew like I have no chance of getting hit here. And I can pick up 10 yards and I've already made my decision of when I'm going to go down. And there's never going to be a moment I'm ever going to fight for extra yards, which I'm not saying he's necessarily been doing the last few years, but I thought the run decisions were better, but yeah, I think that was like the lowest or third lowest total yards for a team in a game since 2000 based on a Sandoah number there on the Saints and all what they did to them. They had, they ran 43 plays. They had 12, 12 successful plays the entire game and that's, this Vikings defense is so much fun. It's so awesome. It's so awesome. And the fact that they took banks in the first round at D tackle to they go, hey, what are we doing? Let's get another guy. Yeah. An orange. Big citrus. Like, yeah, let's just get some big burly dudes up there. I know. It's. I love it. I do. No, the Vikings defense is just, I know we talked about every week, but I mean, I don't care. Yeah. No, that first pick that Chuck through that was what I always say, you know, I'm talking about like the big brother. I'm not hitting you. I'm not hitting you. Yeah. Like that was it. He had just been feeling the pressure the entire game. Oh, my run backs are getting nuked. My tight ends are getting nuked. I have no, and they just run what's a simulated pressure. They only rush four and he's like, bill the pocket. And then he's like, and he's looking behind him at the rush chasing him. So then he doesn't see the defender Murphy right there on the side line. But again, it's like if you're not, you have to like play through the fire as a quarterback. That's why Jordan Loves one of the corebacks and get this defense. But if you're not, and you're not pushing the ball, it's like, and you have no run game, it's going to be hell for four quarters. Doesn't matter what the offense is doing on the other side. Maybe that five seed for Green Bay should be a reminder that they were the only team that looked like they were even human offensively against this group, even with their online issues. Okay. A quick hitter for me. Let's go on with the towel over the head, everybody that's hurt now. Now Penex, that was a nasty one because he's going to his right as the collision happens, which Collinsworth, you know, perfectly pointed out that that wasn't just a QB hit. That was physics at work there. So considering Penex's injury history and everything that happened and then two of gets in and throws a two of pick to close out that overtime game last night, I was like, damn, because like the first completion look kind of nice. You know, what a weird, what if something weird were to happen here? Nope. Nope. I should appreciate it because I'll do a show afterwards and I'm like, Oh, please end this game. Oh, thank you too. Thank you, buddy. Thank you. That looks familiar. Really. Take over the middle. I swear to God, like more of his picks have to be in that little zone that 10 to 15 on the right side where he's like going back and it's like Kyle Hamilton's like, nope, I'm going to stay right here. I think I've seen this on tape before. So I don't mind Penex putting the towel over the head. But I think there's a real, there's been some momentum towards him. Where's my towel? I've just noticed. I see you. It doesn't have to turn the rest of it where they cover up the handcuffs. It's kind of like that's what it kind of feels like. The Penex thing is tough. Like you could tell that his whole demeanor changed and I get it. You know, it calls where they had the talking points to is like, Hey, these surgeries are stacking up on them mentally is he took that one shot to the legs and he was done. You can tell, like, also, that's when he started playing less, yeah, worse. I would say throughout because he's a statue back there. It's it's like watching blood. So yeah, like, let's, I know his movement stuff is like an old quarterback like that. It is, but it used to work, but nobody, nobody wants to stay there, right? And I hate it. I hate it for him. So my towel thing is not about Penex, but it is a, no, no, no, but that's just there's a movement. There is a movement. There's a movement. I'm pointing out awareness. All right. Last one. Uh, no, I mean, really some of these games do arch then forget it. Let's get the arch. No, yeah, let's get the arch because we're already pretty good. All right. So I, I watched the game again yesterday and I watched it strictly because there's also my YouTube TV is recording the alt broadcast. So I don't call it the all 22. I'm getting the all 12, which is your camp. Awesome. I watch just offensive lines, um, the entire time. So I watched it on that broadcast and then I watched the normal broadcast, uh, yesterday. And the only reason I did that is because I didn't like what I saw from arch and then our guide Nate Tys goes by the arch dip and I went, you're going to be fucking kidding me. So what am I wrong about? I still don't like it, man. So make your case, uh, no, there's, I think there's some stuff too. I'll bring this up. Just played some really tough defenses. And of course, you're not going to put crazy. Yeah. I'm going to see Ohio State and Oklahoma. No doubt. Yes. All top 15 defenses. The current FBI right now. That's before the adjustments, uh, from this last week, even UTSA is a better defense than USC. Vodtech and North Carolina. So I'm going to bring that up too. I'm going to bring that up. You need tech. Okay. All right. I know we're in North Carolina. I, people talk about CJ cars performance against North Carolina. UTSA has a better defense in North Carolina right now, but I, I think just two is that, and again, my stuff is more prospect watching. It's not the down to down, give and take a week to week in a value waiter, you know, a value waiter is watching these guys at the end of the season. They're going to pick four, five, six games, you know, quarterback, probably more, um, and then go, okay, I'm going to look at this big, large sample size without the abs and flows of a college season, which as every time I dip my head into it, I'm like, oh, my god, this is so much noise. Okay. What's going on? Um, nobody, I think just two is that there is a lot of good play to what he's doing. He's doing, even if it doesn't feel that way. And I understand. I understand the pick six was a bad throw wasn't bad process. It was just a bad throw. The final pick is more explainable again based on what he's trying to get to. He's got, he got to the backside.
against a four-week pressure, and which is like, oh, that's encouraging. Progressives, he gets sawed off leaves the ball inside. So again, not a bad play, or not a good play, bad interception, but the process of it all is explainable. And I think there's some narratives, too, is that he's not, he's staring down receivers, which I don't understand why people are saying that. They get dropped eight a lot. So they get dropped a ton. He is checking down all the time. So I agree with you yesterday was not a Saturday was not a stare down issue at all. No, no, it's all this drop eight. That's happening to how a state game, and I was just like yelling at the screen, like, please point out there's point drop eight here. Because of what the Texas likes to lean into, you know, there's some of their concepts. There's a little too much play action to me. And I think now they're kind of doing away with some of those training wheels, letting him just operate as a drop back quarterback. But if you saw the camp Coleman catch in his fourth quarter, the big long over route, that's how you be drop eight is launch it and you either run it or launch it. They can't raise a beautiful ball. I mean, it was right. And there's, you know, this is some of the main discussion, too, is me prospect evaluation. I'm going to chase the dragon. I'm going to chase some of those wild horse plays and the aggression that he plays with because I do think that's what you have to play like. I think he's underrated as an athlete. I think he's an excellent athlete. I don't shock people. Don't think that he has great pocket movement. His eyes are always downfield. He's tough. He's willing to take hits. So those are more kind of intangible things. Well, tangible athleticism. But like, there's a run on that last drive or the drive before the misfeel goal. It's like a six year again. I'll first down. They run a QB draw with them. He's carrying three Oklahoma defenders on it on his back. Like, he's a big dude. So he has those traits. But also, I just think process wise, he's like, he's hitting plays like backside digs. He's getting, he's moving through his progressions. Sometimes people, I think forget that the defenses pay too, literally now in college. They're paid too. Like, there's plays where he threw one day. I think I've seen some people like he threw. There was a corner and the safety is just all over on the corner route. That is, it's a great read. He's, it's a smash concept. The high low against cover two. The safety is just makes a great play. And that happens sometimes, especially against really good defenses. So I do think of like two, and I see some of the counting stats that get thrown out there underline. I know everyone's privy to underlying stats and everything, but he still rates highly in those first downs per per attempt right now. This is just FPS versus FPS, which is, that's all they played. He's 25th. Mastermaker's 36. And I like mastermaker a lot. Late downs. He's 82nd percentile. So it's like, it's just like they're underlying stats are actually good success rate wise. He's up there. Throws that travel 10 was 70th percentile success rate. He is the same success rate this year as Caleb Williams did in his last year. He is a, he's a better first down rate than Bryce Young did in his last year. And I think I, the mistakes get comp or I know what the mistakes look like, but there's a lot of good play down to down with his traits, size, toughness and athleticism that he's working under center. He's a great scrambler. So I think that's one of those things where it's like, no, it just, there's a lot of good. The Tennessee tape was really good. Like even the pick is explainable. Cam Coleman, I'm really lower on now. I, I, I, Cam Coleman's got some, I don't think he reads football well. He's a great athlete and everything. But I don't know if he kind of like sees the game wrong. There wasn't overthrow to him where I was confused. If he was looking back at arch being like, he threw it, you, and it was like, yeah, but he wasn't even trying to like throw it to you. I think like, I think he knew that that wasn't going to happen and was cam was confused. Yeah. Thinking like he threw him a ball that he couldn't catch. And so that was kind of a weird thing. I, look, in the second half, I, again, I went through every one of our two snaps yesterday because I watch it on a different version of the broadcast. And I didn't like it the first time around. And I just thought like he's got a third and goal throw. It's a toss up. He had a third and two to 81. Where he's out in front of his tight end. He doesn't even give him a chance on that one. He's got a second and 20 to Cam where he's behind him. So the cam has to fall down for the completion. Yeah. The pick six, he complete the air mail. It's terrible. The second pick, you know, again, we know it's, we know it's inside and it's 17 points off of turnovers. He had a throw away where Gilery almost intercepts it before the actual interception where that was just a little too dangerous. And you know, they're, I just am surprised how long in that second half, it looked like he was inaccurate. So I understand like, I'm glad you brought up the drop eight thing because I get a little frustrated with the check downs. It may be even the late check downs against Ohio State where it's like, man, when you're throwing it out in the flat, like you're going to get these guys killed. It's kind of like the boat next play that I hate the way you check down. Right. Yeah. Yeah. But I understand he's right. That would be my coaching point to him is like, Hey, stop trying to make every play a touchdown. And which is again, real and in the wild horse. I think he's gotten a little better by agree with that. That sometimes he doesn't want to play die. He's like, I got a final check it down. And I, so I will say that I agree with some of that. Some of the misses two were more explainable. Like the, I think I know with one of your time about the tight end, he, that's not part of the progression. He's just trying to get the ball out and he just misses it on the, I think it was. Yeah, look, I'm just pointing out, pointing out some misses, which I know aren't entirely fair because we could go through my home's tape and we're going to see five throws who don't like. I guess I was just surprised to get the text from you and a motivate me to go back and watch it. And I was like, what can I possibly be missing? And I was like, I, I think we're talking about two different things because there's just no dispute like that. They should not have lost that football game. And there's no way that this should be an average P4 offense. And that's basically kind of what we're looking at to me three. It's two and so on. Yeah, it's, I know, sorry, some of the offense operation. I don't think the receivers are well coached. That's one thing that stood out to me. Like he, he had a keeper early. They tried to get him on a design run and Cam Cole and like, just doesn't block his guy. It's just like the runs coming towards you. You know what I mean? Like there's not a lot of awareness from these players. They're talented. I like the tackles. I think are good, but the interior kind of gets beat. You run a defense aligned game or twist. They're not going to pick it up. One of the running backs. I'm not ready to say his name annoys me. I'm not going to say who he is yet. But there's one of the running backs where I'm like, you could just hit the whole man. A lot of bouncy, a lot of bouncy bouncy. Yeah. Yeah. I know there. Yeah. Little happy back there. Yeah. Yeah. I know we got to go. So all right, perfect. I'm going to hit the whole right now. That's it for us. Thank you to Nate Tyson. We'll talk to him next Monday. Thanks, Nate. Thanks for having me. We look like we maybe wonder who we're going to vote. Number one, had George not been able to hold off Alabama in Tuscaloosa. But Georgia is number one. They have 66 of the 70 AP votes. I'm not quite sure why you're voting for anyone else. After what Georgia did, winning in Tuscaloosa for the first time in 2007. Not saying it's necessarily a dominant fashion win. There's some controversy as well. The non-PI. There's a face mask. It was missed but was explained. I think really well by the official. If the one official on that angle can't see it, then it's not going to get called. But the PI every official should have seen it. The board loses his mind and rightfully so because it's a brutal call to miss. However, Georgia doing that. Again, there's some AP votes. First place overall for Miami, Notre Dame. Those don't make as much sense to me, just based on resume stuff. I'm going to mention this today, but I really think it doesn't matter what we're doing, but you really hope the committee with the way the scheduling works out is like I start looking at different conversations. It projected 11 and 1 and 10 and 2 teams and I'm like, how could you argue the 11 and 1 scenario? With that schedule against the team, the finish is 10 and 2. So look, Georgia recovers all five fumbles in this game, including four of their own. They're without their top two running backs, which introduced the world to Phillips who's a junior, who's a little guy who's a speedster and the Herb Streets raven about him just going between the tackles and top everything else. I don't know if you could handle 20 carries. It looked like he was getting a little banged up in a really physical game, but he is a game changer. And the other part of this is at receiver, Taylor, the sophomore who was coming along, but Dandridge, the freshman was incredible. I mean, multiple catches where he's just fighting for the football and you can't believe he came up with the catch and Gunner Stockton, who is not necessarily my favorite college quarterback. He's not as flashy, some of the other guys, but there's somebody who'd be said about trust and even on the interception, Hubbard makes an unbelievable read and then play and tips the balls. So that's not like some guy that was just lost or confused or the moment was too big. It was a great play by defensive player there for Bama, but 18 to 22 for Stockton and just that trust factor of you expect him in that environment to give you a chance to win the game. And that's what Georgia did. And call number nine for Georgia, We saw him in the Oklahoma
game run the length of the field after turnover touchdown and you just he's nicknamed the tarantula and you're just watching him going. Is he faster? Is he slow? Like I can't figure his gate was so weird on that turnover against Oklahoma. But he is everything you need as an edge guy. Because there's just dudes a month into this month plus in that are like becoming household names at least for Georgia's defense. The game kind of went the way I thought it would go and we'll spend a little more time when we get to Alabama on that one. Number two, I have Miami who was off. Number three, I have Notre Dame. They're number two in the AP. So I flip it there. Not a huge deal. Walton, another enormous game for him at running back. So that question feels like it's answered one, eighty one and two touchdowns against Stanford. Stanford has just a zero chance to compete in this type of game. That's now 16 straight double digit wins, which we thought was one off the Miami Hurricanes record of 17 straight until digging a little bit deeper. A lot of you do remember this army had 21 straight double digit wins from 44 to 46. So I'm really sorry if you brought this up in conversation on a first date or something and you know, she's like actually it was army. So just text her back and tell her that it's my fault. Number four Ohio State. I know this is where the head to head is supposed to come in. The head to head gets tougher and tougher as the season continues because they have the head to head against Texas. This is a bit like the old Baylor TCU controversy quote one true champion in the big 12 except when we decide to hope that both teams can get in and then both teams don't get in and the committee puts Ohio State into the college football playoff and it works out for the buck eyes. So no, it's not exactly that, but it's kind of the well Texas is lost to Oklahoma is worse than Ohio State's losses to Texas. So even the head there's also this I think Ohio State's better than Texas. I kept putting Texas number one. I didn't love it and you know, we're going to get to Texas when we have them in the rankings here, but I'm putting Ohio State four and I'm fine with it. I'm also fine putting them ahead in Indiana who is obviously undefeated. So number five, I was tempted to put Bama up. That doesn't happen a lot. Just go, you know what? Now that you've lost, I'm going to raise you when the rankings and I'm going to put you over undefeated Indiana. That felt a little aggressive. I was tempted to do it, but I'm not going to do it. Down 17, six at Nebraska. This game did not go the way I thought it would go. Nebraska was putting up huge offensive numbers. Start the season. Yes, the schedule was terrible. I felt like this was going to be kind of a big boy wake up and it wasn't. And then Nebraska is just pulling out these plays where you're like, are they going to actually pull this thing off? And this is what I think is the beauty of it. Like Nebraska's front defensively was great against Indiana's offensive line. Like Indiana reign at 22 times for 65 yards. You know, like, all right. Usually this is like these upsets happen because the other teams turn the football over a couple times or there's a fourth down decision that was way too ballsy and you're like, you just gave him a 30 yard field. Like you probably shouldn't do that against what you think is a lesser opponent. So there was some real like toughness here from Nebraska where like, okay, this is like two three quarters. This kind of looks right based on the game. And then Nick Marsh reminded us why he was one of the big names after Cam Coleman and got all the headlines as far as receivers and transfer portal. But Marsh goes crazy with the two touchdowns. 119 yards on the two catches. He is the 75 yarder who I thought clat was like, just great with his whole A. That looks like Mendoza, the play action, seam route, Sarat, and boom, it looks like the exact same thing. And when he's out in the open field, just forget it. He is a special one. And really just a nice test there for Indiana where, you know, it's just not working. And you're like, you know what? We have kind of this carry over culture, even though there's a transfer portal change over where it's like, can you really build the same kind of culture for college football program? But I think them just responding. Okay. Fine. They didn't look great. Sure. You'd expect them to go into Nebraska and smash them. That didn't happen. They're down big. They respond. They get the two touchdowns from their best playmaker. And so I thought that that was like really, really important. Despite the fact that Indiana all game long, I could not convert a third down. There are one for 11 on third downs in this one. Bama at number six. So yeah, the game went, the reason I picked Georgia could have gone either way. Yes, I understand the two calls, specifically the PI there, but Keelan Russell looked great sometimes. And then I think he looked a little sped up, which was to be expected. I thought against this kind of defense, he was going to have some moments where he was going to look like a freshman. And that's exactly what we saw with some of the impatience that they pointed out on the broadcast. He was sacked four times. And you know, I know Bama fans, I know what you're saying. Like, hey, we should have gotten the PI. And I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong on this one at all, but I thought Keelan Russell looked terrific on the two touchdown drives. I think the running part of it is always there for him. And I there are so many guys in this defense right now for Bama that I love number seven woods and becoming one of my favorite players in all college football. Another Virginia tech transfer that team was just loaded with guys. So there you go. I've got Bama at six. So that puts Texas at number seven. How do you lose to Oklahoma who cannot do anything on offense? Well, you give them 17 points off a turnovers. You have the fumble in the end zone. You have the pick six from arch. You have a fuel goal. And then you also, when you get an interception because centenia, this is why I would never ever call a half back option pass a wide receiver pass because the guys always want to fucking throw it. They want the stat. They want the completion. It looks cool. Centenia throws into triple coverage. There is no shot that this ball is going to be completed. But hell, we ran it during the week and I'm chucking that thing. He throws in a triple coverage. However, he is hit late personal foul up around the head, negates the interception. Then he gets a PI in the end zone. And that's the only touchdown drive from Oklahoma because of penalties. A bad second half, a second half from arch. I know Nate Tyson, I talked about it there a little bit, but I thought he was kind of like a pitcher in that second half. We just can't seem to stop walking guys. I thought he was behind on some throws. I thought he was ahead on others. The pick six throw is terrible. And the interception at the end, at least the other fuel goal. Just, you know, he's inside and he's late on that throw. So Nate likes the tape more than I do. He watches the tape differently than I do. He played the position at a power program. So I would, I would generally believe that he knows what he's doing far more than I would. I just can't believe they lost this game. And you know, you've got Chet Hanks over there at O.C. for Oklahoma watching material. And, you know, I know, I can't imagine how frustrating it is for Oklahoma to call plays with material. I cannot believe this guy was the highest in favor at some point last season. Because once it turns into the backyard, shit, that play, it's over. It's not going to be good. He had some throws where I'm watching, you know, he had a throw inside down the right sideline where it wasn't even close. And I was like, is he just hoping something happens? He had back-to-back deep shots. And to his credit, he got killed on both of these dropbacks. But it's just like, see if this works. And they can't run the football. And this is on top of Texas defensive with everything else. So look, I don't blame Brett Venables for taking the mic afterwards in the post game on the field. You've won this rivalry game. You've knocked off number one Texas. But it's a bit like, hey, no one thought we could do this and all this kind of say, let's see how this record looks at the end of the year with this offense. Because I think anybody that had doubts that supposedly is wrong because material did make two great throws. It's a set up to game winning field goal. I don't know. I just, we know the defense is awesome. I cannot stand this offense. All right, number eight in the AP is BYU. I'm going with Ole Miss. We had a BYU emailer. He used the life advice hack. Wanted to complain about me dismissing BYU a little bit. You guys passed for like 60 hours against TCU. Noter name and Miami are killing teams. All right, we'll find out this week. Won't we? So number nine, I've got UCLA. How do you beat Oregon in Eugene? Seven turnovers in two quarterbacks. And you two can win at Austin Stadium. Look, I thought they'd lose by a couple of touchdowns. I thought this would be another wake up call for them. They're number 12 in the AP. I put a number nine. Dylan Raeola reminded me of why I didn't necessarily love him when he was in Nebraska. He gets benched. And there's a little bit of a comp here for Indiana 24, not Indiana 25, but the 24 Indiana team that's resume drove me crazy because UCLA doesn't have to play Indiana. They don't have to play Ohio State. The only ranked team that remains on their schedule is SC. They should hope that SC remains ranked for all the obvious reasons because there's a very weird playoff conversation about UCLA that I did not expect to be having this early in the October. All right, number 10. Do I do BYU or Utah? And as I get upset about the BYU thing, I'm not really upset. And it's really only two spots. I just think we need to reward teams for playing somebody even if they have a loss. Like I just don't think you should keep the end of feed the teams above them. Or, you know, Well, comment upon it Iowa State, both been by 14.
BYU's home Utah was there, but like BYU had 300 more yards in its Iowa state. Is that why I'm splitting the difference here between BYU and Utah? Honestly, at this point of the exercise, I'm not that definitive about any of it. So we'll go 10 BYU, 11 Utah. Now it becomes a Texas Tech Missouri conversation. The funny thing that's happened about that Oregon State game, which I think hurt Texas Tech in the AP rankings there a little bit, is Oregon State's actually kind of good. Their QB receiver combo is terrific. So they lose to start the season to Houston, Texas Tech. That Oregon State battle, I'm like, what the hell's going on here with Texas Tech? Because all of us, me included with this Texas Tech schedule and them reloading, figured it will ham it another year in like, they're going to be, they're going to be really good again. They're going to win this conference. I'm going to go ahead and put Missouri there. Even with the loss, I don't care. They've beaten Florida and A&M, who I know is a mess right now down there at College Station. Both of these teams are a mess. And there's a very interesting Bruce Feldman article on John Someral after they had beaten Ole Miss and was like, hey, this is just the way this guy is. And it's like bad timing for that article because now they're getting stomped. But 72-13, you want to get mad about it? Go ahead. It's the 12th spot. And obviously a lot will change. You want details? Bye. I drive a Ferrari. 355 Cabriolay. What's up? I have a ridiculous house in the South Fork. I have every tour you can possibly imagine. And best of all, kids, I am liquid. So now you know what's possible. Let me tell you what's required. Live advice. Live advice,
[email protected] is the email. We've got Seruti, who's a dad. He's going to have to prove it. And Kyle, high AF on another Drake May masterpiece. That's exactly what it was. I couldn't believe this was the first Sunday I stayed home. And I was like, I got to be in the world. With this, I can't believe I'm sitting on my couch watching this. So honestly, I was super giddy at home, too. But I was like, I can't believe this is the one I stayed home for. So really, really fun day. Maybe that's a sign. That would be such a bummer lock in. That would be such a bummer. The scene of the Kipsy just won't be the same. I'll keep winning. What's going on? The economy's going to change. It's a big time. Well, why did you not do anything? I wasn't feeling super great, but also, you know, we're doing vicinity. Everyone should listen to game theory. And that was just that was at seven. And I was just like, you know, let me just not fuck around today. I'll just make sure I'm home. And I had to do all these graphics and stuff. So it's like, let me just make sure we'll be responsible with this one. Okay. Also, I was just drinking water all day. It was a tiny bit banged up. But that just never stopped me before. It was just like another reason. Just go watch this one on the house. You pay for the package anyway, you know, might as well. Yeah. Do we ever get that promo code? No, wait. It's the way. I think I've been offered a promo code for the NFL package like five straight years. And I've never paid for it every time. It's the greatest magic trick. It's unbelievable. I thought for a hookline sinker every time. I'm like, oh, we're getting it this year. No, every time. Hey, where's that code? That's right. Going back, circling back. Do I do a Missouri golf trip recap? We'll do it at the end. Do it at the end, which is the life of the females. Do you guys want a little recap? I think we need the boys. We take the space. Yeah. Yeah. Take the space. I don't really think it matters. Every now and then we'll get some complaints about like, oh, you guys are taking forever to get the life of ice. It's like it's not that hard. We'll put two time codes in. How's that? Oh, shit. Sorry. Go both be wrong. So go ahead. So yeah, I made it down to the Ozarks. It's a UVM crew. Now, 30 years strong. We tried to organize. We used to get together and just do a trip. And then that stalled quite a bit with marriages and families. And then we put together. We did Pinehurst two years ago. And so we did Payne's Valley. We did the Ozark course. We did Cliffhanger Part III to get things warmed up. That would be one of the most dangerous cart rides ever on any golf experience. I can even imagine if you had a couple high noons going a little too early in the day. And then we also went top of the rock, which is another Part III course. So we banged out a lot of golf there. Oh, and then I think we played a third, like a 12 hole Part III. I think before we all had to catch our flights. Things never changed. One guy left with rental car keys for his flight. An hour and a half before another guy was supposed to pack up. And somehow he had somebody else's luggage. So then he had to get out of his car on the highway and order an Uber to then bring him back to the golf resort. And then return the key. And then he went with the next group. And somehow he still made his flight because his flight was delayed. There was there was a missing wall or two. Those golf bags are tricky thieves. They were somebody who invented golf bag that has just these are moron approved pockets. Where you can't lose anything in the cavern of pockets and options. It just dudes emptying out everything. They're like, here it is. So that seemed to happen a lot panic almost every time. I try to find my wallet keys. I panic almost every time. Because normally you're like, I don't want any stuff in my pockets. And you're so used to having in your pockets all the time. But we stayed at the really nice cabins. It has its own putting green behind it. I guess there's these two legendary cabins and guys were like, can you pull some strings? I'm like, I don't think they're going to care that I'm in the group. Somebody had said, Patrick, my home's it just stayed there or something. So I was like, yeah, I think there's a bit of a drop off there. Yeah. But we ended up getting them. It worked out great. So no one wants to go out though. This is very interesting. What's the scene? So it's 12 guys. I think 10 UVM guys. And then we had a couple late fillings. We had a late cancellation week of. So he was out some cash. He just couldn't do it. So that sucks. So we had a late alternate. It was a relative of the organizer that worked out pretty well. But it was it was really like guys that go on tons of golf trips. There's a few guys in the group that do it. They said that this was their favorite, their favorite facility favorite setup favorite thing that they've ever done. Because the Payne's Valley course is is incredible. It's all the pain story and all that kind of stuff. And then the Ozark one is incredible. Even the part three stuff is really fun. I played I didn't play that well at Payne's Valley. I played great at the Ozark course. So you know, it's not going to have one good round on these trips because when I played Pinehurst when I played the first two rounds, I was actually playing pretty well for me. Pinehurst two was the most humiliating golf experience of my career. It was fucking awful. And thank God I played Pinehurst one the last day because if I had left just playing Pinehurst two, I may have sold my clubs. Don't people like isn't 10 like everyone's favorite there too? I forget what number is. But two people are like, yeah, you got to play it. It's not my favorite. I don't know. We played one, two, four, and five. So I mean, it was Pinehurst has a million things. So I think we did. But then everybody's like, oh, you can't believe you can play Buffalo, which I'm sure I'll have a couple of emails on that. I know a lot of you guys know Ben Fisher. He had a chip behind a tree on 16 of Ozark. That's just their name I put up a plaque. This is one of those chips. So shout out to him. But yeah, the no going out thing is very interesting. Do you have a couple sober guys at this point? They're still you don't really even notice it. Everybody was actually pretty behaved. Believe it or not. There's usually one I hate my wife and kids so much that it's just unhinged. He pulled the rip cord out of the plane out there. He showed up. Yeah, it's a good way. Yeah, it seems like everyone my group likes their wife and kids. So that's a good thing. But there have been other trips where a guy may pull you off to the side, being like, I hate my life. I'm like, all right, dude, I'm going to put on some far side. Let's raise the vibe in this house. Yeah. Right. So I would have liked to eat a little bit more food. It seemed like there was a lot of golf that was scheduled. And I was like, Hey, I have an eat and then I kind of pulled the I was like, I'm staying here. I'm ordering my own meal and I don't care. And I'll see you guys back at the cabin. I will get on the next shuttle. And they were kind of like, really? I go, yeah, it's going to be seven o'clock before I eat until night if I don't eat now. So I don't care. I'll be what? I'll miss 20 minutes of dudes not showering, stinking up the cabin. Like, we'll be fine. Everyone will be fine. The food thing is so funny. I feel like I went on a it's like one of two ways. You go to Costco and you just buy way too much shit, which pisses me off. Because now we have like, we have like, you know, got Danishers. Listen, I love a good Danish. We got to betray a Danishers. We've got like hot dogs and bacon in the freezer. Who's cooking this chicken? Or is the other way I went to like a golf batch a part of years ago, a brother in law shot, Dr. Matt. I think I had three tacos in like a 36 hour period. Just about it. That's such a bummer waking up day two. And you're just like, there's nothing here is there. There's no food. There's nothing.
And I'm like, the Earl Mac, I'm like, the bottom of the golf ad looking for like, old expired, like, you know, protein bars, you know, so we have anything, yes. I think I ate 20 protein bars. Yeah, I just was like, oh, exactly. I was like, what's the date? I don't even look at the date. Don't get bummed out. Um, we had one guy put on sunscreen that didn't work and it was unbelievable. He looked like he had some sort of disease and had a prescribed cream all over him. Some were like, what did you just speaking of expired items? Like, what did you just wipe all over yourself? You're going to need to turn in time to get that off your face. So it was always good for a barb here or there. Um, but yeah, look, great trip. I can't recommend the place enough. And we're trying to figure out the next one. BAMF was thrown out. And I was like, um, bit of a BAMF veteran. That's number one for me. Yeah. And a lot of guys were like, hey, can't you do anything? Haven't you been? Don't you have any juice with any of these things? And I was like, I don't really ask. I don't know. Didn't one guy was like, can't you get us on a gustor or something? Yeah. Yeah. That was kidding. Listen, the USDA does love us. Um, you know, we're talking about some things from the future. So you might have more pull than you think. You just got to get asked. I probably do. I just, I just hate asking anyone for any favors whatsoever. That's an awesome way to be though, honestly. Right. That way, friends don't like it. Back to again. I know. I know. I don't know. They think I, my friends think I like, you know, I can get everyone hired. I don't know. I'm here. I'm like, I haven't met the boss, dude. I don't know what to tell you. You haven't met Porto yet? No, he did come to Pekipsi though. Didn't even check in. Oh, man. I mean, wow. He came to Pekipsi to do a pizza thing. Do a couple. Yeah. I did two pizza reviews. Great. If you just off to the side and one. But I don't know. That's a pretty established thing. You might be. No, I shouldn't take this the right way. Yeah. Of course. I'm joking. Yeah. So he would love that that would be that that feels like a matchup that needs to have love Kyle. Yeah. No, I, I was, I saw him at Super Bowl. And he was, I had a, we were off the clock. And he was like in a spirit of discussion with someone. And I stopped myself. I was like, do not go interrupt him and tell him who you are. And so that was my one shot. So, but you know, I'm sure something else would come along. One shining moment right there. Well, how'd you, well, yeah, what's your best round? I didn't break 90. So that's getting a little frustrating, but nothing terrible. You know, Pains Valley was a bit of a struggle, but turned around. Yeah. I don't really know. I mean, we go shot by shot here. I don't think I'm going to be able to do that. Yeah. Tell me about the bunker shot on eight. That's the favorite thing in the world. You put a pill. Wow. For birdie. It was pretty nice. A little bit awesome because he asked for bogey. Yeah. Right. Right. No, I had a few birdies this week. Nice. And my buddies and I was like about that. Like two things. Like if you make a hole in one on like a, you know, like a, you know, you get one out of bounds, then you make a hole in one. Like you can't obviously tell anybody. Doesn't count. And then two. Like if you like, my buddies at the end of our most recent golf trip, like it was bottom of the bear with the golf ball situation. So if somebody like makes a hole in one with a top flight with like a huge scrape on the side of it, do you take the photo with the top flyer? Do you get a new ball to do that? No way. Leave the scrape and we had a hole in one. We had a hole in one in one of the part three blast. Oh, really? Yeah. I've never been present for one. It's awesome. What'd you guys do? Um, it was so early. Nothing. You're like, I mean, it was so early. So, yeah, we didn't. I didn't do that. Sorry. Sorry to everyone. Yeah. All right. Uh, the sorority mole problem. Castor oil and cayenne pepper. I think that's how they used to treat toothaches for children in the 1700s. But castor oil, cayenne pepper mix, mix it up and drench the yard where the moles are doing damage had the same issue a few years ago. And it's probably how well it worked. Have it been back since. Okay. So just spray it all over the yard. That's actually good information. I haven't really done any research into this whatsoever other than like traps kill them, which I don't want to do. We had a lot of doctors checking in, shout out to the medical field for being such strong supporters. We show every one of them. And I'm just going to summarize. We had so many responses from it. It's that the hierarchy at the hospital is very regimented. That you are constantly calling every doctor doctor the entire time. And doctors that wrote in are like it's insane for the wife to think that her husband was supposed to follow the same protocol. Good. Outside of the hospital. So I don't know what's going on your wife to. Not one person emailed in that I read that said. Well, actually that makes a lot of sense. That's kind of what I thought it would be. But yeah, there you go. All right, petty, prideful versus accepting kindness. All right, 510-185 started lifting again for the first time since college, age 43. A few months ago to keep up my 16 year old son just hit 200 of the bench. I'm excited about the progress. Been a cardio guy doing triathlons for 15 years. So no laughing at the small max. I don't know your bench or more than your body weight and you just started doing it. So I mean. Yes, 20 years off. That's awesome. Yeah. Well, I think it's great. Also loving the negative countdown. A lot of people wanted shoe holes in that one. I don't know what to do. I don't know what to tell you about. I think I've established my position on that. Have in laws college football golf trip this weekend with two brothers in law. My wife's sister's husband. We call him Todd and my wife's little brother. We will call him John. All right. I was like, okay, making sure we're changing this flying into a small college town. We're all alumni. We enjoy golfing, but Todd has really gotten in the last few years when he moved to the South. He traveled all over the world just to play cool courses. Here's the dilemma this weekend. Todd wants to golf 36 holes with each course costing around 150 to 218. Todd probably makes three to four times a year more than I do. And a lot more than the younger guy, John, I love golfing, but typically pay 20 bucks to walk nine. John is the same. So this weekend, we'd be content paying 50 to 100 for golf, but not three to 400. I say, hey, I'm finding this other course played there at college. It's great. $25 to the 18 Todd says, well, I really want to play these nice courses. So let me cover the cost golf is on me to worry about it. I'm the same age as Todd. I hate this. Feels like he's making sure I know how much more money he makes than me and John hates it too. But it's afraid to say anything. I get it's a super nice gesture, but hate accepting that kind of money from a peer. So what do I do here? Swallow my pride and let him pay, be stubborn and man up and pay it for myself or only play 18 and act injured on the second round. Well, not that one. Really? It sucks. It doesn't have the awareness to like realize that like he thinks he's doing a nice thing for you guys, but it's just he's just big time in you and that's a huge bummer. Is he? I don't know that he is. I don't know, especially so he's he's your brother-in-law. That is a little awkward. You know, it's like, hey, I got this dude. Don't worry about it. He's just like, he's doing the like a little bra two small kind of thing. And that's just even if it's even if the pad is a small thing. Is it the pet pet for small thing? I mean, I just always thought it was funny when Pat Bev did it. You were like, you're the smallest guy. Right. You're also six. Yeah. Well, I I would soak off. Like I have a brother-in-law. He's we've lost to a country club and you know, we just kind of go there and he's getting Dr. Matt shots up to him. He mentioned many times in this pod the last couple of days. And you know, he looks us up. And maybe that's just part of the gig and your relationship is good and it's fine. But you've clearly feel like uncomfortable about it. So I I I I would still golf, though. I wouldn't like get out of this thing. I think you just kind of have to play nice and he wants to do this thing. And it's like he's in a golf like what you should spend some time with them. I think if you want to play these lesser courses, like he's not going to have as much fun. So I I would go along with it, even though like I understand why you're uncomfortable about it. I think there's a couple different philosophies. Like I mean, some I've like a great friend who's like got an old bag that he got at a flea market and a mismatched clubs. He gets a different garage sales and stuff. And he's good. He's happy with that. He just wants to be out there. And like it sounds like this guy's a little bit more in that camp. I mean, he's basically saying he pays 20 bucks to walk. Like that's good enough for him. He loves that. And this other guy does it a different way. And at the first, you know, sign that you're like, I don't really pay for 200 bucks for a round. It's not that's not what's important to me about golf. He's like, Oh, fine. Well, we'll do this. So I mean, I think you just kind of have to like he did all the right things. Like there's so many different versions of this email where it's worse and it's uncomfortable. And the guys like, well, I don't really want to go there. Let's find one that we can all be happy with. He was just like, great. Fine. I got this. We'll just take it off. Take it off the list. I'll take care of it. I think that's think that's cool. Unless you're unless your wife's going to find I'd be like, you let my brother pay for golf, which doesn't sound like you're worried about that either. Like I just, I just get over this and, you know, the thing you love about golf, you're still going to be able to do. Now he's just going to have fun as well. So yeah, I take this no question. I buy the beers. Maybe there you go. Do you like the guy? Do you actually want to play golf with them? You know, like I understand what you're saying to the emailer here, but I would just do it. Like let him pay for the rounds. Like he has money. He, as you said, travels the world to play these fancy courses. Like that's something that those guys love to do. I'd be content either way, but I tell you it's kind of like the guy with a private jet.
or access to, not actually to the level where he has his own jet, where he's friends with a bunch of people in his town, the wives all to get together, maybe there's no kids, maybe the kids around the same age, and then he's like, "Hey, we're going to Mexico for four days. Do you want to go?" And it's like, "Are you going to deprive yourself of the opportunity to go in a private jet, to go on this vacation thing?" Because it's an impried thing, like the guy has access to a private jet, good for him. It doesn't mean you have to be pissed off about it. And a lot of times, like the guy with the private jet is wishing people would take advantage of his success. It gets cheaper. It's still longer. You fly it too. That's what they say. The more you fly it, the cheaper it gets, private jets. Well, I don't know, but I'm telling you, a lot of guys don't want empty seats. They would love to be able to share that with other people, and they're not doing this victory lap of like, he was on my foot, like, sure, there's some guys that do that. And maybe you, again, you know your brother-in-law here on this one, is he the kind of guy that's doing this to see ordering your meals at dinner, right? Like, is that what he's doing? Or is he going like, "Well, look, I don't care, and I want to play this really awesome course, and this is going to be like the one opportunity that I have to do it. And I want to play with you guys, because we all like each other. So I don't think it's a swallowing your pride thing. I would kind of say, like, again, I don't know the dynamic. I don't know how well you like the guy. I don't know if there's other examples of you feeling like some people get really fucking weird about the money thing, and you can actually not be doing anything, you know, where you could be like, "Hey, you know, you can use my place or let me know," and you're actually just trying to be like a nice friend. Like, I offered, like, I'll just admit it, like, I offered my Manhattan Beach house to like a friend, and then somebody said, like, "Oh, he wanted me to see what his house was." And I was like, "What the fuck are you talking about, like, there's nothing more than me trying to, like, do a nice gesture because it's just me." And I knew that it'd be like a really convenient thing for the kids to be able to use the beach. And I was just trying to, like, do something solid, like, I don't give a fuck about what you think about where I'm at or what I'm doing. So I don't know if you're in your own head about it to the email or more than you should be. And, you know, if the downside is you get to play a really nice course that's also free, and it's not, and you're not like a free loader, like, you know, I don't know, I wouldn't worry about this as much as you seem to be worrying about it. Yeah, it's a matter of perspective. You could be like, when you tell the story to your buddy, you could be like, "Yeah, John got us onto these two awesome courses," or you can be like, you know, "John made us play these courses and he hated my idea and, you know, me and the brother were stewing about it." Like, think about how you want to tell the story. That's how you should try to feel about it. Like, this was an awesome win for us. It was a great weekend. College football is awesome. My guess, too, is like, all right, brother-in-law, and then what hit her brother, right? You'd probably get along if you're doing this trip just three of you. Totally. This isn't like someone would hate moms like, "Hey, you got to do this or the way it's like you got to do this. Like, organize a trip." Like, I imagine, you know, that doesn't like, dudes don't just plan these things if they don't like each other. So, I would imagine that they all get along. All alumni. What a small world. Good for you. Yeah. So, that, you know, I'm just saying, I understand, like, feeling weird about it. I would probably feel a little weird about it. But I would still do it. Yeah. It would be cool. It would be fun. And like, try to put it by, you know, just try to have Enzkalsen by something else, like, you know, hook them up somewhere else. Be the, be extra helpful. You drive, drive to the airport. Do all the other little things around that to like, you know, I don't know, maybe show your look. People out roast beef sandwiches. Like, that could be you, man. Bring a Danish plate. There you go. Yeah. By around, you know, get a bison dog for everybody. Okay. That was a big thing. That paint's valid. All right. This one is, um, this one is serious. Well, it's a relationship thing. So, is the time to throw in the towel. What's up, boys? 25 years old. 66235, former offensive lineman D3, who used to be an animal in the gym, but now between nagging back in the injuries from being 315. Yeah. I was wondering. I was like, 235 is still not big enough to play offensive lineman D3. So, 315. Those were 4 solid gym days, a week, yoga, try fairly unsuccessfully to be limber, pick up comp, zubats. One of my boys even calls me him because I looked like him just a workhorse in the paint with a subpar basketball athleticism, apologizing advance for the novel, but needs some insight. All right. Here's a situation. A girlfriend and I moved in together in August after one and a half years together. The first things were great, but holy shit to that turn quickly. I moved in her place, and she's very particular about how her space is. I am a functionally clean person. I don't get on hands and knees and scrubbed events. She literally does this. Amen. I haven't met a guy who cleansed event yet. We've been fighting regularly and it eventually got to a boiling point where she asked me to leave two weeks ago. I went to my parent's house where I subsequently tweaked my back so bad during a workout, couldn't walk. And my 63 year old mother had to love my big ass around for four days. I returned to our apartment a few days later and we talked about it and things have been going well. So the other night we got in a fight and we both admitted we've not been happy. The phrase quote, where did we go wrong? And quote was even thrown around, man, that's an adult talk right there. Fast forward to last night. Oh, wow. This is fresh. When she asked if she could go out with some of her friends to which I responded, of course, honestly, kind of relieved because I've been fighting off a cold and wanted to have the quad box for the night games of the college football slate. Didn't want to feel like I was neglecting her. She told me the friend she was going out with and they're in their 40s and one may or may not be a mushroom dealer who goes by mushroom man, either the arteries of farmer's market guy. Who knows? I love having a good time, but I've always drawn the line of drugs. It's always been a huge turn off for me because of some family issues, but I responded. Go have fun and told me it was only going to be for pizza and a beer to local brewery. Fast forward after the night slate of college football. I heard her come into the bathroom. I assume she's getting ready for bed, but I heard heels clanking in a kiss on the forehead. I take my eye mask off and ask, where are you going? And she responds to the club to the club. Oh, man, what a. Now, I can't emphasize this enough that I want to have friends. I want to have a good time but going to a club with people I don't know clearly intoxicated the point of not being able to walk in a straight line is not a safe situation. I try to talk her out of it, but she slammed the door in my face. I was honestly going to go to bed, but I had a feeling that I needed a step in after a few minutes. I went down to the lobby and saw that she was standing outside by herself with mushroom man, whom I've never met before. I just went outside and looked at her and didn't say anything while she drunkenly yelled about how he never do anything and she wants to go out. mushroom man gets up off the ledge, they were sitting on in your 66 to 35 gets up off the ledge. They were sitting on. I can tell he's attempting to come to introduce himself, but I told him, if I were you, I'd be very careful about coming into my personal space, even though I'm not a fighter. Never thrown a punch in my life. Hey, man. Six people around. You can move people around though. That's good enough. It doesn't want to find out where people move her. And your girlfriend just kissed you on the head and said, I'm going to the club. And she's yelling at you that you guys never do anything fun. All right, no desire to harm my career and life by punching some dorky mushroom dealer in the face. I feel really bad about this because he instantly ran back and lowered his head. I wouldn't feel bad. You just sent him into a bad trip to it. He was having a great night and now he's like, the clouds started rolling in. He's with your girl. No, she lives with you. There's some platonic friendships out there, but I don't know, tough to give strangers the benefit of the doubt. Yeah, I wouldn't be feeling bad about how he felt at all, if I were you. The whole situation ended when Mushroom Man said, I'm going to call it a night. And my girlfriend and I went upstairs. I had almost had a carrier. When we got back, she was spouting the same stuff. She was saying outside, I tried to remain calm and encourage her to go to bed. She fell asleep on the bathroom floor. I noticed she'd been there for a while. Carried her into her bed. I slept on the couch while preparing the couch to sleep on it, which is four feet long. I knocked over her purse and a packet, some stuff. Pills came out a boundary cross that I have established after a couple hours of sleep. I woke up, worked out eight some breakfast, and I'm in need of some unbiased opinions on how he sent us this right after. No, how to handle the situation. I love this girl. I bought her ring. She's usually the best person I know. This is completely out of character. Any insight would be massively appreciated. I apologize for the novel. Love the pod. It's cool, but I know the magic eight ball says it's over, but it's my guess. It sounds like you're not talking about the right thing. You're talking about who's cleaning up enough. She reaches that point where she's just saying all the things. Nobody goes out for one beer. It's impossible to have a beer at a pizza. Obviously, she had a bunch and then things start to seem like an awesome idea when you're hanging out with your friends. If your spouse isn't there, you start thinking these things are like this could be an incredible plan. Then you're like, oh, I didn't even think about my other half there what they were thinking about. That happens, but I feel like the stuff that she's spouting is stuff that she should be saying to you. If you guys are just fighting about cleanliness and it's bothering her to the point, the vibes are all wrong. If you guys can't figure out how to talk about some of this stuff, I definitely wouldn't be moving forward with rings because that's you know, you start signing contracts.
can't get out of it. I don't know. You got to figure out all the details first, I think. Yeah, that means they're like tier one problems. Yeah. And you know, partially, I mean, sucks too, because she, she's going out with the friends. Like, who knows? Like, chances are, like, she's also voicing these paintings to them. And maybe they're just like egg and heron being like, hey, yeah, all right, let's go have a good night, you know, blah, blah. Let's go have fun. Like, you know, everyone takes your side in those moments too. Like, is anyone ever go, hey, wait a minute. Could you be wrong? Sounds like a real jerk. Yeah. I mean, is she just not ready to like you unreasonable? Is she just not ready to settle down too? Is she kind of, is she just having like this, you know, crisis thing? Because she maybe knows the ring is coming. And she's like, well, I don't really know. I still want to have fun. And you're just kind of at two different points here. And, you know, you can still love her and love, like that, that's what sucks about relationships is that like, you could just be at different aspects of your life. And it doesn't mean that like, you know, one person's necessarily wrong in the situation. It just isn't going to work out for those two reasons. Um, I mean, you got to have the series. You got to, you got to talk about all these things out. You just have to say, listen, like, is this a blipper? Is this a trend? Like, are you really unhappy? Like this, it just can't go on discussed essentially. And I think the sooner, the better for probably both parties. But I, I would say like, this is kind of screams like she's having an internal crisis about like, what's going on in her life? What's about to happen? Because we've got trust issues. We've got, like, I don't even know how you feel about me right now. Like, we've got like, you know, if the things aren't clean in a certain way, I like, I got to go stay with my mom. Like, there's a couple of like, yeah, like you said, big, there's a couple of legs to this table that are a little bit wobbly. So I think you got to tackle them all before you think about moving on, man. And if she's not willing to talk about it, I'm all for like second and third chances, you know, like, if you really feel like this is your person and all that kind of stuff, you're 26, all right. And the, the first big breakups are the hardest ones. You get really used to it after a while. And I can, we're good. Because you're young and because you're talking about marriage, because it's been what, over a year and a half, I'm wondering if you're fear about breaking up, well, there's more of like derailing the plan and having this be the first person. And so like, are you staying with this person because you can't imagine having everything up ended in this way. And again, when you're younger, for some of you, it's sort of for me, like, it's just kind of like, oh my god, you know, but you just don't know anybody. You don't know any better. And then you start to realize like once you remove from it, it was like, I wasn't really even fighting for that person. I was just kind of fighting against having to reset, start over and the unknown that comes with all that stuff. So that's what you need to figure out. And it's hard. Like, it's hard to come up with that answer of like, hey, this is absolutely the person. Like, like, you could probably get through this, you know, unless like, Saroodie kind of mentioned a really good point, I think on Sarko. That was supposed to be funny, but I guess it wasn't. On is she like going freak out, bender phase, you know, and this is going to keep happening. Like if she's sitting there saying like, we're not doing anything fun, we're not doing anything fun. That means that's something she's thought about, you know, for a long time. And it's coming out now mid 30s, too, man, you're going to be having some less fun too. It doesn't sound like it gets more fun. You're rashing the fun. Fun is different, but it's not like if you're missing that now, brother. Oh, all right. Yeah, imagine like the counter argument in the middle of yelling, you're just on the street and like, it's about to get way less fun too. So if you need to weigh, are you fighting for something because you don't want the plan to be derailed? Are you fighting for the person? And I don't know the answer. Yeah. I don't know. You're right. You can get over this, but like this is like the classic like a drunk man's words or sober man's thoughts. Like this is this has been festering. Like most likely. And it just came out in this way in the situation. So yeah, move forward at your own risk if you're not going to tackle this. You know, I know she probably like she'd rather things go right back to normal, you know, after like a big drug night, we don't totally remember everything you said. And you know, she probably wanted to be like, I'm sorry and move on. But I think you probably got to stick to your guns on this. And you know, don't let it pass. Yeah, I mean, that's a good point. Kyle. Thanks. She's probably going to say she's really sorry about all of this stuff because she knows how bad she fucked up. And she might not really mean it. So you're going to have to fight through that too, buddy. All right, that'll do for the show today. Thanks to Tom Kevin and Kyle and Saruti, all of our episodes available on Netflix, the Ryan Solution, Arsenal Sports.
