#47 - James Watt - Brewdog - Lessons from the punks

This ESPN 1000 morning show, hosted by David Kaplan and Jonathan Hood with producer Shea Norling, blends sports commentary with lighthearted workplace banter. Early in the program, the hosts recount how sales staff, led by Anthony Catazone, ate custom chocolates intended for the show, and they bring Catazone on air to explain himself, turning the theft into a running joke about office etiquette and the sales team's priorities. The centerpiece is the Bears' blockbuster trade of two first-round picks for All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons. The hosts hail the move as evidence that GM Ryan Poles is "all in," arguing it finally addresses the defensive line and signals a Super Bowl window. They debate whether the defining move of Poles' tenure was drafting Caleb Williams, hiring Ben Johnson, or this trade, and they insist the deal only succeeds if Chicago wins a Lombardi Trophy, citing the Rams' aggressive trades as precedent. A caller reinforces this by comparing the trade's value favorably to the Dexter Lawrence deal. The show also condemns Packers running back Josh Jacobs for miming handcuffs in a touchdown celebration tied to his domestic violence arrest, calling it a lack of contrition and urging league discipline. The "Picks" segment follows, with the crew unanimously backing Iowa, Oregon, Georgia, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and the Bears, while splitting on Ravens-Bills and Chiefs-Broncos. The program ends with the "Cut of the Day" and a handoff to the next show.

Speaker 3Checkmate 1-6, landing suppression on target. That's why I say he meant my shot. Shot or no shot with Captain Jay Hood on ESPN 1000 and the ESPN Chicago app.

I just got my back waxed. Here's Shea Norling.
Speaker 5Shea? Good morning, boys. How are we on a Dr. Pepper Bears Friday? We're good. We're good. I actually have an update on the candy. So the cool little box here, that has the candy in it.
Speaker 6Why don't you quickly, for the new audience, reset what happened with the candy.
Speaker 5We have the biggest audience now. It's 8 o'clock. The wonderful people at Windy City Chocolates brought us gifts, custom-made. Yes. They had taffy apples, baseballs, all made of chocolate. I mean, just awesome stuff. And they had a special box for hoodie. They had a. for the show. Not the station. The show. Kappa J-Hood and J-Mort Shea, you, me. And they delivered two platters in a big cardboard box. And the maniacs at sales thought, led by Charlie Mern. Derm. Derm, sorry.
Speaker 7Charlie Perm. Perm, yeah. That'd be awesome. Straight to the back.
Speaker 5I'm in sales. Led by him. Yes, sir. They decided. Screw Kappa J-Hood. That'd be great. All they do is give us good content to sell, but screw them. We're taking the candy. Catazone. Right there. Anthony Catazone. Right there. Led the charge to eat that candy. Let's take a look here. It was not his candy to eat. Down the hall. There it is. Right there. He ate it. Raquel Ness is cutting into apples. Maybe if they would spend a little more time working on listening and selling. What are you selling? Maybe they would make more money. What are you looking at, Ron? Just staring away. I'm sure New Rider was involved. Yes. Absolutely. Oh, now here comes. Oh, now one of your teammates sold you out. There you go. Absolutely. One of your teammates, one of our teammates, who I love dearly, sold you out.
Speaker 7There's Ron there. Disappointed, Anthony, man. Yeah. I'm disappointed in you, Anthony.
Speaker 4Give it. No, no. Come on in here. Come on in here and defend yourself. Yeah. This is. This is. This is. This is. This is. This is ridiculous. Turn him on here, J. You sit down here, Anthony. Explain it. Am I on? Am I on? Yeah, yeah. You're on. There's a sales guy. Doesn't know that he's on. There's a microphone here. Explain it. Why did you do that?
Speaker 8What I took home, and maybe I was the first to touch, what I took home was a Packers helmet and a football with the Packers logo. I figured no one else in the studio would want to take those.
Speaker 5Maybe we wanted to smash that on the air.
Speaker 8Yeah, it actually already. It already was smashed. See? That's not right. How about Ness? Raquel Ness. I'm not throwing any of my teammates under the bus. Jordan Sherwood did. He sent the list. That tells you a lot about Jordan. He sent the whole list.
Speaker 4I got a whole list. Why did you do that, Ron Newrider? Why did you do that? Look at this guy. Why did he do that?
Speaker 7He looked like a suspect for real. There are people in their car
Speaker 5going to work right now going, Oh, I know the jackaloons at my office. I would have done the same thing. That's right. It's insane. Why? Where are the platters?
Speaker 6Where are the two platters? That's the biggest. And you know the biggest thing? When I left the office. We would have shared the chocolate. We would have been happy to share it with everyone in the office. It's a respect thing. It wasn't for you. Like, who leaves a stick?
Speaker 4You know what? Anthony, you want it so bad? Here, take the other half of this caramel apple. Here, come get it. Come get it. There you go. I'll leave it in the booth for you guys. Scott, no, no, no. Put it out there in sales and we'll eat the rest of it.
Speaker 5Scott, Raquel Ness's paws all over that thing. Oh, jeez. Cuts into the apple and then puts it back.
Speaker 4Unbelievable. Get out.
Speaker 5Jeez. All right, here's Shane Norland.
Speaker 4No, no, no, no, no. Hey, Anthony. No, no. Give it to the rest of the sales. Take that platter out of there. We don't need it. No, no, no. Give it to the rest of the fruit flies over there. Clearly, they want it more than we do. No, take it out of here. Out. You vultures. Son of a bitch. Get out. And he's a Packer fan, too. It's even worse.
Speaker 5So, as we look at the numbers in Chicago, too busy eating chocolate that didn't belong to them. Maybe we ought to concentrate on sales. Maybe you guys should just be able to concentrate on the sales,
Speaker 4and this won't happen. Okay. Do you have a. Do you have a best friend at work? No. Not in sales. Correct. Heh. Get out of here, new rider. Look at this guy eating. Look at that. He's got the platter. That's our team, folks. There he is, like Winnie the Pooh. There he is, rubbing his stomach.
Speaker 5Get out. All right, Shay. Let's rock and roll. All right. You rock and roll.
Speaker 4They took our stuff, Cap.
Speaker 6They did. Aside from the highway robbery that occurred here at work, we had huge. Huge Bears news yesterday with the trade for Jeffrey Simmons. We have been begging Ryan Poles to make an all-in trade, and he did it yesterday, flipping two first-round picks for the all-pro defensive tackle, finally addressing the defensive line, and in my estimation, behaving like the big boys behave in the NFC. Shot or no shot, this will be the defining move of Ryan Poles' tenure as GM. That's a no shot. Maybe one more.
Speaker 5Yeah. There'll be more moves, and hopefully he's here a long time, because he's put a good thing together, and he and Ben collab well. No, the defining move was looking at all the quarterbacks and going, I want that guy. That's the defining move. Caleb Williams will retire as a Bear with at least two Super Bowls. I said this to you the day he was drafted, and he will be the second most popular athlete in the history of Chicago sports behind only Michael Jordan. I said that the day he was drafted. I got mocked by. By all the jackaloons out there, and in the end, I hope I'm alive to see it. I will be right.
Speaker 4Hey, Shea. What if the defining move was getting Caleb Williams to be on the football team? Maybe not this move yesterday. Maybe it's just Caleb. That's what I'm saying. That is the defining move.
Speaker 5Yeah. And the second most defining move will be getting Ben Johnson. Because if Ben looked at. Ben wanted to coach Caleb because he was offered the Washington job. He could have coached Jaden Daniels. He went, oh, man, turn the plane around. I'm not doing that.
Speaker 4Could you imagine? Right. Who would we have? I don't know. So, I mean, the Simmons move is significant because that's not just for now and the future. I'm excited about that, Cap, because now I don't have to talk about the defensive line not getting a push. You have someone that can do that. The numbers show what he's done. The production's there. He's just been hiding in Tennessee. That's the problem. Now he's on a big spotlight with the Chicago Bears. I'm excited for Simmons, but I'm also excited for the rest of this defensive line. They can eat now, Shea. If Simmons is going to require a double team, someone should be able to get a pass rush. Several people on this defensive line. There should be no more excuses now. So, yeah, I'm jacked up about it, man. It's something we've been wanting a long time. We have. And listen, this is. You know what this is, Cap? Chicago. This is linebacker you, defensive line you, and then running back you. But, man, we're going to have a complete team. When's the last time we talked about the Bears being a complete team on both sides of the football?
Speaker 5It's unbelievable. This is our life, but it is. We kept hearing all the rumors. You said prove it.
Speaker 6He did. All right. I guess I'll frame the second question this way, because for me, I would say it is the defining move. You take the quarterback you wanted. You got him. You were right. That's every GM is going to do that, whether they take the number one quarterback, whoever they take. You got the quarterback right. It's what you do after that defines what you're going to be. When you flip two first-round picks, to me, that's the move that announces we're here to win a Super Bowl. We are all in. Our window is open. We're starting our clock, which then leads to shot or no shot. The only way the Jeffrey Simmons trade is a true success is winning a Lombardi trophy.
Speaker 4That's a shot. That's what it comes down to. That's what you're shooting for.
Speaker 5It is. I guess if you said, wow, they got to this. super bowl and they they lost in a great game you can't say the trade wasn't a success if he plays a meaningful role right but you're in it to win it yeah like the rams gave up two ones for jaylen ramsey and i remember people going you did what for a safety you gave up two number one picks a d-back okay good luck and they won yeah so nobody cares we can't be
Speaker 4afraid to say it anymore cap that's the thing we can't be afraid of it there
Speaker 5were cup fans that didn't like the chapman you gave up who glaber torres we've heard about this kid okay does anybody care and he was a
Speaker 6solid pro he's not a hall of famer good player the rams in some total to win that super bowl gave up four first round picks i believe a fourth round pick and a quarterback they acquired both jaylen ramsey and matthew stafford that got them to winning a super bowl god bless if you told me right now today it's a locked in guarantee you trade your next five first round picks but you win a lombardi i am signing that contract every single time yes absolutely
Speaker 5you got people like lewis calling in going i don't like that we gave up two uh first round picks that if your team's any good you're in the mid to late 20s yes and
Speaker 4we're 32 i mean and you got to be really good to be able to pick someone quality at that position in the draft i'd rather have the real deal versus a question mark agreed that's all it is for me but we can't be afraid of saying super bowl around here agreed now that now it's
Speaker 5yeah they're all in to try and win it but just if you're jeffrey simmons they got they flew him in on a charter by the way thank you not putting him in the middle seat in the back coach on a southwest flight um it's not the washington coach but his hat turned backwards they did that for his head his
Speaker 4hat turned backwards like a
Speaker 5goof so they chartered wait a minute they have their charter they brought him in and the video of him walking in looking around at house hall like oh you're not nashville anymore brother there's a lot of expectation pressure let's go history's on the wall when you go in there so he understands like oh wow well it was like you've been there when they were at the burdo center yeah you walked into the burdo center shay it was in deerfield kind of a nondescript building right you walked in and where the players would go media would go to the left remember to that media room and kraus had curtains put in that he could only he'd have to hit a button to let you see the court otherwise you were blacked out from seeing the court yeah and then there was a door led to the training room left to the court and lining the walls michael jordan dennis rodman scotty pippen jerry uh sloan norm van like all the greats you're like oh doctor i'm in yeah company yeah yeah so all right shay what else
Speaker 6do we have sir all right i do want to touch on the thursday night game big topic of conversation this morning in the aftermath last night i'll put this on youtube and twitch so if you're watching you'll see it uh last night it was josh jacobs scoring a touchdown which he followed up with a celebration that has caused a stir where he mimed being handcuffed and walking through the end zone ostensibly in reference to his domestic violence arrest now i am somebody i have said on this show before celebrate how you want to celebrate i think the taunting flags the unsportsmanlike conduct flags for celebrations it's ridiculous do what you want to do i thought in the moment when joe buck said when uh randy moss mooned the goalpost mind moving the mooning the goalpost he said that is a disgusting act it was ridiculous just celebrate how you want to celebrate within a certain line this i think crosses that line a great shot or no shot the nfl should define and or suspend him for this
Speaker 5yes that's an absolute shot when you put first of all why did you ask the video to be sealed of what you allegedly did to your girlfriend who you're no longer with correct why did you say i'm asking that video to be sealed so no one could see it and now you're going to mock the process by putting your hands tells me there is zero contrition for what you did allegedly you think that's
Speaker 4a badge of honor to be arrested you think that's what it is i mean i understand that there's been musicians and rappers and you know artists that have been able to utilize that as a platform to show how tough they are or to represent the streets do you think that that's a badge of honor to mock the process what he did why would you again on the server why would you do that see it's one thing to say that that's wrong my question in all ways with these situations is why you think that's cool i think the packer fan will be behind you he's like yeah man you're getting screwed yeah you got arrested and you know what you're mocking the process what packer fan how do they back that what why do you think that's cool i don't get it
Speaker 5and if i was the league i absolutely would do something it's also like
Speaker 6there's context to it you get arrested for like possession of marijuana in a state where it's illegal and you go out and play and you want to do the handcuff thing do i think it's in poor taste sure am i going to get worked up about it no but it's what you guys are saying you beat your girlfriend allegedly allegedly did yeah and sued to seal the video which kind of tells me what happened right like i'm allowed to have an opinion on what happened when you sue to seal the video kind of tells me the video is not going to work in your favor especially when the people who saw it reportedly said yeah it shows everything we needed to see like you're telling me and by extension your coach is telling me there is no accountability for what happened there is no contrition correct and that's where i get bothered that that's where this celebration crossed the line for me did he get asked about it after the
Speaker 5game or did the timid green bay media not doing it
Speaker 6no he got asked in the locker room and his response was that the cameras didn't catch all of it what did they need to catch you're walking around miming being in handcuffs i think we all know what you're doing just silliness just doesn't make any sense just dumb i mean
Speaker 4go ahead shay we've said enough let's get ready for uh around the league because we've got the picks coming up hold on one second
Speaker 5i've got an update the guy from the chocolate place just texted me he remember catazon had the audacity to say that the chocolate was the packer stuff was broken remember that yes hey cap our master chocolatier john manchester purposely sent the packers pieces broken by design he took a little shot where they were already broken yeah it's your franchises too
Speaker 4it's unbelievable catazon damn and where's charlie today where's charlie dern hiding in beaver dam you just walk in mom was a hell of an actress laura dern smoking he's up at the parade i'm sure with the brewers so he won't be able to answer to this nonsense this malfeasance correct
Speaker 6all right we will have might have
Speaker 5one for you odyssey
Speaker 6i thought it was a core tenant around here don't be
Speaker 5a bleephole yeah hey keith i thought that we had that as a dbaa did you hear what he
Speaker 4said shay you hear what he said he's gonna send him to odyssey i heard it
Speaker 6just like they'll be sleeping at your desk
Speaker 4how about that that's that's a good enough job for three months they didn't throw you out the door all right coming up we will you're right coming up we will give you around the league next on cap and jay

Speaker 4phenomenal jack you're the man buddy jack jack is cap for halloween which is fantastic wow Find that on our socials. You'll be able to see that picture. We had it here on the YouTube and Twitch, but that's crazy. All right, time for the picks. Here's Shane Orland.
Speaker 6Well done. All right, we'll go through the standings quickly. All four of us went the exact same last week, 4-5. So I remain at the top, 37-26. Cap at 35-28. Hoodie and Jay Moore at 32-31 on the season. We begin in college, as always. A brother. Heading to Kinnick Stadium, where unranked Iowa is a two-and-a-half point favorite over 24th-ranked Wisconsin. Cap. Sorry, Hoodie.
Speaker 5Yeah, I was like, whoa, we changed in the order.
Speaker 4A brother. Not a surprise there. Step to the front. That's okay. I understand, Shay, midterms. So, Wisconsin at Iowa. Right now, I'd have to say no. Exactly. Thank you. Oh, no. Shay Bailey over there, skipping me.
Speaker 6There we go. My answer is no.
Speaker 4My answer is no. No. Iowa allows 14.3 points per game, eighth nationally. This is going to be a taffy pool, because it's Wisconsin and Iowa. Cap, I like Iowa minus two-and-a-half at home.
Speaker 5Yeah, I think Wisconsin's playing a lot better football. I like Luke Fickle. But I do think Iowa will defend the home field at Kinnick Stadium. Give me the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Speaker 6Easy for me. Any unranked at home, favorite over ranked? Hawkeyes. Unanimous. Iowa. Let's go. All right. On to Chicago's ranked Big Ten team with a big road trip, traveling to Autzen Stadium in Eugene, where Oregon is a three-and-a-half point favorite over Northwestern. Hoodie. Can you give my analysis the public money? I will get it for you, but I would also say you know what to do. All right. You know what to do.
Speaker 4Can I just tell you, Cap, Northwestern, because of its offense.
Speaker 6Oh, yeah. Hoodie, the public money? You know what to do. 73% of the bets on Northwestern.
Speaker 4Dante Moore is missing, and I know the offense has changed, but it's Autzen. I feel like Oregon can win the ballgame outright. Give me Oregon plus a three-and-a-half.
Speaker 5Yes. Yeah, I looked at this one a lot of different angles, and the kid from Michigan State who transferred in, the quarterback. Yeah. At Northwestern, Aiden Childs. I watched him up close and personal last week with Shane Jamore. Yeah. He's a very athletic, good player. Not good enough to go into Autzen Stadium and win. Give me the Oregon Ducks.
Speaker 6I'm keeping it the same way. I got unranked, favored, overranked. Autzen Stadium is a bitch for a traveling team to play at. Give me the Ducks.
Speaker 7Yeah, that Chip Kelly offense won't save you this week, so I'm going Oregon.
Speaker 4It's a touchdown for Northwestern. And we're down 24-6. Go Cats. Hon, you going to come into the house? No, no. I feel like they're going to come back. I'm not leaving the car. It's a lucky spot for me. I'm listening to Ennit. It sounds like they're making a roll. They're making a comeback. The great Dave Ennit, man.
Speaker 5That guy's the best.
Speaker 4Steve Schnur, touchdown Northwestern. And the Cats are down 56-6, pending the extra point. Hmm. Might be coming back. I don't know.
Speaker 6Love you, Dave. Final college game on our slate. The world's greatest outdoor cocktail party. Hello. It's indoors. They've moved it to Atlanta because of renovations in Jacksonville. Yeah. Which sucks.
Speaker 7I thought it was a WMEA game.
Speaker 6Georgia is a 12.5-point favorite over Florida.
Speaker 4Hoodie? Georgia averages 43 points and allows just 91.4 rushing yards per game, Cap. It's going to be about the defense first. That's a big number. But a number that. But Georgia will take care of. It's kind of a home game, even though some Florida fans will be there. Sick'em, sick'em. Sick'em, sick'em. Georgia all over Florida in the 12.5.
Speaker 5Yeah, I looked at this game as well. A bunch of different angles. Florida's playing better. But they're not at Georgia's level. Not even close. I'm laying the 12.5. Give me the Bulldogs.
Speaker 6Boy, we are all locked in agreement here. The story to me is Georgia's got a top 15 defense. And Florida's got a bottom 15. 50 defense. Give me the Dawgs.
Speaker 7Yep. I will go with Georgia.
Speaker 4Sick'em, sick'em. What's happening with Florida's quarterback, Phil O? Is he going to be available? It's kind of unsettled, the quarterback situation with Florida.
Speaker 5Is that Philo Doe? Is that, like.
Speaker 6Yeah, exactly. I believe you're right. You never know with college, the way that these coaches can mess around with their injury reports. I try to ignore it as much as I can.
Speaker 4But we're a two-touchdown favorite. That's going to happen.
Speaker 6Yeah. Yeah, it's going to happen. On to the NFL. Starting in the NFC. South Falcons off a big win. Travel to Tampa, where the Bucs are two-and-a-half-point favorites. Hoodie, you know what to do. Well, hang on a second now.
Speaker 4Cap, Tampa Bay's run defense ranks second, allowing 77.3 yards per game. Atlanta's rushing offense ranks fourth. You know how the Robinson brothers get it done. Okay. So can they run over the Buccaneers' defense? I'm not so sure. I like Tampa minus two-and-a-half.
Speaker 5So, again. Again, great, great players usually make the difference. B. John Robinson. B. John is that dude. But, Baker's back. Baker's motivated. I know what to do. Give me the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Speaker 6Boy, this is not going to be a good week for anyone to gain or lose ground, because we are all on the same side. Give me the Bucs. You know what to do.
Speaker 4Yep, I'm taking the Bucs. Well, the reason why, if the number was higher than I would consider, say if it was. If it was three-and-a-half, four, maybe. But it's two-and-a-half, right? So, I think that they'll keep it close.
Speaker 6We've got the NFL version of Penn State USC. The Fraud Bowl in the AFC North. The Browns travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers, where Pittsburgh is a three-and-a-half point favorite.
Speaker 4Hoodie. Cleveland's five-and-two despite a minus-13 point differential. Now, keep in mind, Cap, Pittsburgh's last three victories came by 12, 7, and 6 points. I like Aaron, and I like the Steelers. Minus three-and-a-half against the Brownies.
Speaker 5This one's easy. The Browns are not as good as their record says they are.
Speaker 6Competing. Nice. It's A-R-8. Give me Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers. Browns are F-A-F. Fake is you-know-what. Give me the Steelers.
Speaker 7Yep. Aaron Rodgers has been playing some spectacular ball, so I'm going with the Steelers as well. It's unanimous. We are five-for-five.
Speaker 6Jesus. Jesus. On the same side. We are all going 0-5. Uh-oh. No, we ain't. Let's see if we get a change here. Ravens travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills, where Buffalo's a three-and-a-half point favorite. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hang on a second. Stop the music. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Stop the music.
Speaker 4Okay. Are you sure we should pick this game? What are we doing with Lamar?
Speaker 5Is he available or not? I have to imagine he's going to play. He's been a full participant in practice the last two days.
Speaker 4It is, I mean, is it live? Is this a live bet right now, or is Vegas waiting for Lamar? You can bet it live right now, right? Oh, yeah. Three-and-a-half.
Speaker 7See, I was tricked last week because they said Lamar may come back. Right. But then Snoop played, and you saw what happened the second half. So I got to be for certain that he's coming back if I'm going to bet them.
Speaker 6I would say there's no – if he can play, he's going. This game is too important. This game decides a lot in the conference standings. This one he'll play. So if he will play, you know what that means. So, Bills minus three-and-a-half. Big time. Bam!
Speaker 4Bills. Bills, Bills, Bills.
Speaker 5Tell them, Cap. Can't co-sign you on this one.
Speaker 4We don't know who the quarterback is.
Speaker 5Lamar's got big stones. Lamar's playing. I'm not telling you they're going to win, but give me the Raven plus the three-and-a-half.
Speaker 6I also believe Lamar is playing. Give me the Ravens. I'm taking the Bills, and you know why.
Speaker 4The better team? That, too. It's family. Okay. Lamar Jackson plays. Ravens win. Where is he on the Purdy's Peak? Where is he? He's a hell of a player. No, no, no, no. If Ravens win, where is he on the Purdy's Peak? It'll be Jackson's Jackson Hole.
Speaker 6Oh, man. It's the only mountain I could think of. Vikings at Lions. Thanks, Louie. This is the Pudry North Showdown. Two weeks in a row for the Lions, where they are a three-and-a-half point favorite over the undefeated Vikings. Hoodie. This will be all for the Vikings.
Speaker 4Here's the game right here. Okay? Really? Yes, this is it. This is it. So, you can say what you want about the Lions' defense. It's putrid, right? But can the Vikings score? That's where the rubber meets the road. And I think that the Lions get this done. Three-and-a-half. I think they break the winning streak of the Vikings, and the Lions get it done. That'll be all. No Jameer Gibbs? Fugazi. Dang. Right here. Right here, Cap. This is the game. This is tough. We keep talking about how flat the Vikings are. No one believes in that record. Okay. The Lions are going to do something about it by running the football, and they will run over the Vikings. Vikings won't have enough offense against the creative way that the Lions get it done.
Speaker 5So, you're taking the Lions. Three-and-a-half. I looked at this game, and I don't know if they're going to win. if they're going to be able to run the ball effectively, even though Jameer Gibbs is the best player. back maybe in the league him or bajan but i do think jared goff's playing at a high level and with sam laporta and amon ross st brown at jameson williams has been very very good down the field as of late been a factor in the past game lions win and win convincingly through the air give me detroit uh goff was
Speaker 6bad against the vikings last year the flores defense got the best of them last year they had a bad offensive line this year they have a good offensive line and every year i've seen jared goff take on brian flores with a good offensive line it has been an evisceration i will trust history i'm going with
Speaker 7the lions yeah i just can't trust the vikings uh offense right now i mean it's just subpar to me the defense is the star of the show but i think the lions would do just enough to pull the victory out so i'm going with the lions lines will be
Speaker 4creative enough offensively to be able to get this done i believe yeah and this is this won't be any shade on the vikings because they've been just motoring along nicely but the lions will end this winning streak
Speaker 6absolutely chiefs travel to denver with everything's in question for the chiefs after their worst offensive performance of the mahomes era nipped it in the butt denver a one and a half point dog at home in an afc west showdown hoodie oh i think we know what to do here you do know
Speaker 4what to do here cap chiefs broncos remember city won that first meeting 31 to 10 yep kenneth walker 173 yards yeah fantastic right you know what to do it's a tighter matchup chiefs were reeling that last game against seattle do you call right they do broncos yes plus one and a half
Speaker 5so i'm going to disagree with you again the chiefs are coming off of an awful performance if they've got any type of heart fight and want to give me the kansas city chiefs to walk into mile high and win divisional home dogs i trust them broncos thanks carm broncos
Speaker 7defense is good but it's not as good as seattle's so i think this be a nice rebound game for the chiefs final
Speaker 3game of the
Speaker 6slate monday night football the chicago bears travel to seattle where the seahawks are three and a half point favorites hoodie enjoy baccarat ah
Speaker 5yes the bears bears we have the best audio guy in the history of the business that's two i ate her oh captain jay moore how could you how could you push that but how could you do that tasty it's really simple this is not the bears team that you've been watching because they made a monster move that not only will impact their defense that dude walks into your room and you're like oh my god i'm going to win this game and you get a little extra juice give me the chicago bears they win the
Speaker 6game outright seahawks what there's suck
Speaker 5there's one of the most
Speaker 6publicly bet dogs the week i hate that spot i don't think it says anything about their season travel to seattle you got to go silent count one of the loudest environments in football i don't think this is easy i don't know how much uh uh jeffrey simmons plays i'm still gonna take seattle i don't think it writes the story of the season
Speaker 5he tackled his way through the season he tackled his way through the season he tackled his way through one of the easiest positions to assimilate into a scheme if jeffrey simmons doesn't play a lot that's a joke at least 60
Speaker 4snaps and he's number one in the league in snaps he's not one of those rotation guys either 86 yes he's not gonna stand on the sidelines with the d-line coach yeah he's ready
Speaker 7to go yes so i'm taking the bears and they will win convincingly oh that'd be
Speaker 4amazing strong now
Speaker 7hold on yeah very strong 23 13 i like that
Speaker 5that'd be insane i
Speaker 7like 13-3 it don't matter they're gonna win
Speaker 4oh bears rams 85 i got 13 i got i
Speaker 5have 31 17 i like the bears
Speaker 4to win geez we are going to the super bowl if you're gonna have scores like that just marching right through lumen stadium yeah it's just wow it's not a little field baby it's
Speaker 6not a disrespect thing for the bears on my part i just i don't care how good you are i think games like this in the national football league are really effing difficult
Speaker 7but has the bronc amanda the uh seahawks seen a offense offensive scheme like the bears this season i don't
Speaker 6think so no they have not i don't
Speaker 7think so i mean they
Speaker 6they played san francisco
Speaker 5within like a point good luck yeah beat the seahawks you can stay down there on your little purdy peak i'll be up at caleb's cliffs having a cocktail surveying the landscape with him i hope you're right so if
Speaker 7caleb wins where does he go i'll find out on thursday oh
Speaker 6it could be caleb's cascades hey all right caleb's cliffs
Speaker 4it's my bit pal let me let me just make sure it's very clear jay more caleb and the bears beat seattle and he has his purdy's peak you know what happens you know you know what to do brother keep him down you know what to do that's exactly right oppression that's right continue that's where he'd be i wasn't really impressed by the victory it'll be something like that yeah what's next what's next on roots on espn chicago right i
Speaker 5saw joe burrell play well i saw jerry goff jj mccarthy whoever
Speaker 4yeah like this that's all exactly right hands behind the back that's exactly what it'll be for caleb williams there we go there's no way he's gonna put him at the top absolutely not aka 30 and joe burrow they ran into
Speaker 5some tough elements yes yeah oh
Speaker 4weather wasn't good oh yes lamar caleb yeah they were awful too athletic i have to see more yeah i got to see more that's that's exactly right shea bush bomb ladies and gentlemen keeping the brother down shea polian over there shea polian keeping the brother down not a surprise so don't look for caleb to be at the top that's not happening and that folks are the picks right here on the cap and jay hood morning show coming up i'm going to tell you why you should get five hour energy and draft kings in your life on cap and jay hood republic

Speaker 4brother you know how we're doing man we're celebrating the end it's dr pepper bears
Speaker 10friday yeah absolutely man love this trade love the show of course so i'm gonna try to make this quick and um i apologize i do have to put y'all on speakers so i can look at a couple of things yeah but i want to compare this this deal to a recent deal so people are complaining about us giving up too much and it's been said that we've never seen a trade for a defensive tech that gave up too much and we're not giving up too much i want to compare this to the dexter lawrence trade which is most recent stud defensive tackle traded cincinnati gave up the 10th overall pick if you look at the value charts that pick is worth 1 300 points that's correct we're expecting we're expected to be at least in the championship game or the super bowl that would put our pick between 29 and 32 if we win the super bowl in a row big if i get it right but if we did that pick would be worth or both of those picks combined would be worth 1 180 points if we just make it to the conference championship game these next two seasons those picks would be worth 1 280 points now let's look at the fourth pick and the fourth rounder and the fifth rounder if we win the super bowl that fourth round pick is worth 44 points are expected to be them five in the league that means their pick in the fifth round will be between 43 and 39 points the difference even if we don't win the super bowl between that fourth round and that fifth rounder is less than 10 points add that all together this the trade value for this trade is less than the trade for dexter lawrence
Speaker 5that works he's right this was but you have to be in a position to do this you can't be the 2022 bears and go we're going all in getting jeffrey simmons because you get too many holes but all of a sudden you got an old line you got a quarterback you got a run game you've got receivers you got tight ends you've got defensive players like this dude makes everybody better the cap and jayhood cut
