The podcast episode features three hosts discussing a wide range of topics in their typical irreverent style. They begin with personal banter about drinks, work frustrations, and family stories, including a humorous tale about a son's trip to Canada and a fake Airbnb scam. The "bright side" segment covers entertainment recommendations such as new music from Yellowcard and Like Roses, plus television shows like Silo and The Sixth Sense viewed with a child.
The news segment covers several absurd stories: Wendy's releasing an emo album, Samsung smart fridges bricked by firmware updates, the New Hampshire Libertarian Party endorsing political violence, and a man stealing his Tinder date's guitar. They also discuss a Florida custody-exchange shootout, a child spending $118,000 on YouTube ads, and New York's new robo-toilets with ten-minute limits.
The longest discussion centers on a philosophical article about Guy Debord's concept of "the spectacle." The hosts debate whether modern society is controlled by an intentional shadowy cabal or whether it is simply a structural, emergent outcome of capitalism that keeps people distracted through consumption and screens. They ultimately agree that while powerful people exist and influence society, the situation is more chaotic and less coordinated than a grand conspiracy, though the result is the same: people are trapped in a cycle of perpetual production and consumption.

he's got this permagrin on his face yeah taxidermy mcconnell all right let's go into this segment
yeah yeah
all right josh is fucking us up tonight what is this blackberry smash
oh blackberry smash
all right josh is fucking us up tonight what is this blackberry smash
a hot september moon um yeah so i had never had oliver's blackberry wine and we bottled that
last week oh it's great it's fucking amazing i brought like i'm glad you finally admitted that
something from oliver is amazing i brought a bucket home took you filled up all of my little
bottles that i have so i've got a bunch of bottles in there of blackberry wine but i took one of them
and i turned into a simple syrup so i reduced it down and added sugar and so then i this is
is whiskey lemon um and black blackberry syrup hell yeah bro so the blackberry syrup from blackberry
wine yeah hell yeah so normally like when i've because i we have a drink that we make every year
for our christmas cocktail party that has a blackberry we actually use like a whole clamshell
blackberries and like simple air and make that but i heard matt's coasting it this year you're right
matt's hosting the casey cocktail party
matt's hosting i was gonna i was gonna maybe i'll offer it in the thread but he can host the oscars
i didn't want to tell him only if he has his own special ceremony called the maddie's
well that would give him something to go if he gives us if he gives all of us a trophy i haven't
gotten enough trophies in my life because despite being part of the the that generation i didn't get
very many i've got a trophy that's how bad undefeated how bad i was my
undefeated season i played with in in uh little league i got a trophy for i mean i got some but
just you know second place in a preaching competition hell yeah hell yeah i got third
place in a preaching competition i got a scholarship out of it nice nice nice no i was
i was i didn't want to you know just get into a dick measuring contest but i went since he
wanted to specify the size of the tv i was like mine is literally 10 inches bigger
yeah i think mine which i know because we got that size on accident what size is it 65 65 all
right i'm minus 65 too i i've got three 65 inch tvs in my house i don't know it's because you can
buy them so fucking cheap now because because well we'll get into we'll get into foofy and i had i
had a 75 but it lasted like two weeks before my kid just ran into it because it was literally too
big extra 10 out in the doorway 10 inches is no joke
difference seriously i could use an extra 10 inches i know get me up to a solid eight
you're you're a negative i'm an any he's in chud territory oh yummy um all right i met showed the
kid my sons keep calling everyone chuds and so that word is now in the top of the oh the yeah
what's a chud well cannibalistic human right but it was originally like something you would say
specifically to like right-wing people
okay and now it's just like for anyone that's it's like online insult category basically just
whatever just anyone yeah you can call anyone a chud okay so yeah we're having that and um i hope
i think maybe that the october fest is less crazy i think i've fixed it so we'll see i'll give it a
try we'll give it a try later but this each of these have like three to four ounces of whiskey
in them so yeah i was like i'm already so yeah tread carefully
between that and the coughing fit like feeling pretty good for the beginning of the podcast
i missed the coughing fit that was last week right no i didn't have one this time
extra air in with tomorrow's gonna break through with a brand new life just a regular hoover
every cloud has a silver lining don't you fight cherish the moments they're all we've got tonight
all right bright side it was a week i got nothing
fucking tired man i'm just yeah yeah yeah work sucks i know thank you
does it suck or is your work actually sucking right now we don't have to talk about it if you
don't yeah well i just try not to bitch about it too much oh you're doing a good job leave that to
someone yeah i mean you did get a free
bucket of wine corner the corner on the market it does yeah it has its benefits um i am still
just like not i'm just kind of thrown into shit we all i mean we all are and i mean it's it's
when the corporate is just so fucking big yeah like the the group of people that are in charge
that the people who make the decisions on like this is the stuff that we're gonna have available
that we can sell to all these people have no idea what that puts on the actual people who make that
and like we're so like we're feeling it now and we're feeling stressed and we're behind the eight
ball and everything fucks up all the time and a couple of us aren't even really well trained
because we were just thrown in and like didn't have actual real training and so we've kind of
just it's been baptism by fire and which is what i hear red door does um but like just run your
hand over a bit yeah it's it's symbolic it's like sprinkling yeah it's but i mean again i this job
is going to radicalize me is really what's going to happen not because it's bad but because of the
ways they try to make it not feel as bad that's actually what it's going to be get a pizza party
we got a whole yeah exactly we'll get into that so the villa revolution yeah all right i can't
remember i feel like something happened in this past week yeah but i don't really remember
anything standing out september 11th was before so yeah
i mean it's already had that party
there's a clip from uh kumail's movie um sick the big sick yeah have you guys seen that oh yeah
there's the scene where he's like meeting her parents and they ask him it's on mike dango don't
worry they ask him about being muslim or something and he's like oh don't you know they're like well
what are your thoughts on 9-11 and i i'll summarize it poorly but then he's basically like
well he joked that it was great and then he's like no no it was it was a horrible day he's like
we lost 11 of our greatest men on that day
oh christ uh so the only thing i can think of i think i think i did something but i wasn't
yeah i couldn't tell you but uh sunday i've gotten high since then yeah yeah sunday oh uh
wolf went to canada with his friends
uh like met his online friends in canada so kind of like a turd meet up did he get milk in a bag
i didn't ask about that um i had that through middle school but uh but that was cool because
that's the first time these people have met they're all in yeah i saw the picture i saw the
pic yeah some pictures yeah so um i was just glad he got to do that and it went well i am always
like when my kids are doing something that i'm not like part of i'm always very like is this
a scam is he gonna get murdered in canada or is he gonna get there and find out he owes twenty
thousand dollars or whatever and uh no it all went well but then he did send a message to our
family chat yesterday after he got he was back already i need help getting back to this to the
country he sent a message and was like trip was great but um i the airbnb is charging us a thousand dollars each for
blah blah blah that happened while we were there and he's like i spent all my savings on
on travel health insurance.
I'm like, what the hell?
And so he's sending screenshots of one of his friends.
- Also, that's a lot for travel health insurance.
- Yeah, he's like, screenshots from his friends
that are conversations with the owner of the Airbnb
saying like, this was wrong, this was like,
you scratched the floor, you did this, you did this,
and it was like, you know, $7,000 or something.
So they had to split it, and then.
- Did they really, did they actually do that stuff?
- Well, so he sent it to our family chat,
which if, and he was like, I'm gonna need $1,000,
or the Mounties are gonna break my knees.
And I was like, well that's not something I would,
I wouldn't really be making jokes right now.
So I'm, and I don't know why this is going
to the entire family chat.
- Yeah. - Yeah.
- Instead of just like, me and Eva.
- Yeah.
- And so I'm like, hey, I'm over at Menards right now,
this looks scammy, can I come over and talk?
And he's like.
He's like, oh no, it's just a joke,
my friend in the group does all these fake screenshots
of conversations and sends them, and I'm like.
Okay, okay, funny.
- Funny, now let's talk about that health insurance.
- Yeah, well, so then, he's like saying like,
I was like, well, you know, I thought the health insurance
seemed like an unwise decision, since you're going
to Canada, where they famously have free insurance.
And he's like, yeah, you didn't notice like all the,
like, there was something about like, the toilet usage.
I don't know, I was like, 'cause I didn't read
all these screenshots, I was like, what is going on?
- What the fuck, yeah.
- So, it was, it was, ended up being funny,
but I was like.
- So the insurance thing was a joke, too?
- It was all a joke. - All right, thank God.
- We do, we always get the insurance on rental cars now.
- Oh, really?
- We took a, we rented a couple vans for our last campus
house trip. - Yeah.
- In Missouri, we took our students out
to YMCA the Rockies, and then got dinged on a bunch
of stuff, like, as in like, dinged from the company,
because like, the tops. - Because of dings.
- The top of it was scratched, supposedly.
And we couldn't do anything about it.
And then I was still having to deal with this,
Mikayla and I both were still having to deal with this,
after they fired us.
Like, literally six months after they fired us,
they were still trying to figure it out with us.
So like, ever since then, we just obviously take pictures
and videos, and then we just always get the insurance.
But, jeez. - I never get the insurance.
- Yeah, we didn't before.
- Unless someone else is paying.
Goddammit, oh, this is, we're gonna call this the bright side.
One thing I've been getting into on,
actually, I think I got into it on Facebook Reels first,
but it's videos of people who, like, scamsters,
scammers, like, they'll call people
that are in fucking Bangladesh.
Like, it's all phishing emails that they send out,
and then they call the numbers,
and basically get their IP address,
find out where their building is,
and basically hack them in reverse,
and like, have video of using their webcam,
and shows video of them responding in this.
Yeah, it's crazy. - That's fun.
- But it's like,
and then they also, like, get on their computer
and delete files, and then block them.
- It's also terrifying that that can be done.
- I mean, it's already being done, and they're doing it,
so it's like, you're just, you're doing it to the people
who are doing it to people who are elderly.
Like, people who have scammed people out of 75,000.
- The thing that sucks-- - 54,000.
- Is the people in Bangladesh doing the calling and stuff.
A lot of those situations,
the situations are really bad.
- Yeah, right.
- So they're like, if they do a bad job,
like, they get fucked, too, so it's like--
- Yeah, yeah.
So they're, they've--
- Yeah, it's all terrible.
- Yeah, but there's groups of people
that are actively going after these people
that are scamming our grandparents and our parents.
Like, it's-- - And me.
- And-- - And your son.
- And Lucas, yeah.
- UVA your son.
- So, but yeah, I've really enjoyed this.
I've enjoyed those videos.
I don't know if that's my bright side, but--
- What are you gonna do?
- Oh, bright side.

Josh, what have you been watching lately, broski?
- We are excited that our political comedy is back on,

- Oh, hell yeah.
- And then we're caught up on Ted Lasso.
We're a couple episodes behind on Stuart Fails, but, yep.
- Yep, yep.
- And I've been reading the first silo book called Wool.
- I need to get started on that.
Dan's on that, too. - It's very different.
- Yeah.
- Like, in a really good way.
Like, it is a different, so it's,
to me, like, the coolest thing is, like,
they basically, they took the premise,
they took all the ideas, and they were just like,
okay, so we tweak this,
and then what are the logical things that happen?
Like, to me, that's how I think the show went,

and it's called Recommended If You Like.

- Who was a music promoter.
He started out in kind of the tooth and nail-ish world,
and then moved on to greener pastures of secular music.
- I don't know, tooth and nail's pretty secular.
- Well, anyway, so his book is called Recommended If You Like,
'cause it's about Christian music in the 90s,
and the conceit of the book is each chapter is a cassette,
and it's the idea that he's a teenager in the 90s,
and he just starts--
- This is a cool conceit, am I right?
- Yeah, and so anyway, it's him being into Christian music.
He lives in Noblesville, Indiana.
He goes to Cornerstone.
He works at Omalia's Grocery.
- Oh, wow.
- Like, it's so--
- What's his name?
- Adam Voith, V-O-I-T-H, and here's the cool thing.
You can listen to the book on, I mean, not just audiobook,

- No.
It's a fictional sorta, based on his--

- On his coming up journey, but it's also--
- How do you spell his name?
- I think it's V-O-I-T-H.
- 'Cause I put recommended if you like book,
and it's just like, book recommendation.
It's like, that's not what I'm asking for.
- Yeah, it's not great SEO, but you know, whatever.
Like, he's currently touring with,
it's either Dennis and Whitmer, or. 'Cause I've seen a couple names of guys who are out,
and he's like, kind of doing a book tour
with like an early aughts singer-songwriter person
from that era.

that it's like, it takes place in Indiana,

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Oh, that's with what's his.
Alan Cumming.
Yeah.
Yeah, he's the host.
You can still get pregnant on Alan Cumming.
What was the, have I got news for you?
I watched that.
It's so much fun.
Who's the comedian I love that was on Traders last year?
Ron Funchess.
Yes.
Yes.
He's so great.
He did not do well.
I had lunch with him once.
Did you really?
Ron Funchess?
Yeah.
He was in town for the Comedy Attic,
and my friend Brandon ran into him on the street.
I feel like you've told this story, but I still.
He was like, hey, what's going on, man?
Great show last night.
He was like, I'm going down to get some barbecue.
And he was like, yeah, I'll be down there.
He came down, and of course, he had on like a WWF shirt,
and like some.
You didn't tell him that Bloomington is not the place to get barbecue?
It was like a fundraiser for the Salvation Army.
That's where me and Brandon were meeting.
So Ron just came down and like hung out.
That's fun.
He's awesome.
I love him.
You're fine.
The challenge was.
And this is my real true bright side.
I had the opportunity to watch The Sixth Sense with Diggory.
And so I've been trying to get him to watch it for weeks.
Did you spoil?
No.
He went into it blind.
He knew that Bruce Willis was wearing a toupee in that or something?
No.
He did not know.
See, it's funny.
That's the big reveal.
I've actually never seen it because it got spoiled for me so early.
I was like, I don't fucking care anymore.
I don't want to watch it.
Yeah.
So I really had to get him to watch it.
I was like, dude, you're going to love this.
You have to pay attention.
You're going to love this.
You're going to watch it.
So I'm talking to him.
I was like, hey, pay attention to this.
And then he didn't pay attention.
I was like.
No second screens in this movie.
Yep, yep, yep.
So I was like, you have to really lock in.
And so he did and was asking questions and kept trying to guess what was going to happen.
Because I told him there was a plot twist unlike any other plot twist.
So we get to the end.
And it's the one that kind of.
We lost like five to ten minutes.
And he's like, man, there's no room for a plot twist.
He's like, was the plot twist that the kid sees dead people?
I was like, that's the first one in the middle of the movie.
And then you start seeing his perspective of things like that's not it.
And so we get to the end where it happens.
He's like, wait, what?
I was like, all right, we're going to rewind it.
And he's like, what?
So is this still worth watching if you know?
Watch it with your kids because they don't know.
Yeah, watch it with your kids because they have no idea.
Then you'll get to experience it through them.
All right.
Yeah.
But it went from like, what?
Like, you're going to make me watch this old.
Crusty-ass.
Crusty-ass show.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then at the end, he was like, thank you for showing that to me.
I'm like, oh, damn.
It's fun.
Like, he really, really enjoyed it.
He's like, yeah, that was great.
It'll have to go on the queue, though, because Cadence and Leland really want to watch Zoolander with me.
So, you know, I've got priorities.
Yeah.
So it was.
It was just a cool moment of like.
That's awesome, man.
That's really cool.
I was able to show it to Sarah, too.
So I was like, I've never seen this movie.
Like, no, you did.
And I talked about it, I think, on the podcast because you had no idea what was coming either.
Like, I don't remember seeing that.
I was like, I remember watching it with you.
It happened.
That's what happens when you grow up in Tierra del Fuego or wherever.
Ecuador.
That's what it was.
Tierra del Fuego.
The tip of South America.
Is that what that is?
Practically Antarctica at that point.
Yeah.
Penguins are swimming by.
So that was really cool.
That was a big, that was a bright side, you know, watch this week.
Nice.
So, yeah.
I love that.
All right.
Let's go to the next segment.
Do you know what it is?
What the next segment's called?
It's called.
Music time.
Yeah.
I couldn't remember.
I was asking.
I was like, do we have Fat Pastures?
That's after music time.
Sorry, we don't.
I've got some animal crackers and Nutella.
My favorite fat snack.
Last week, I had an artisan oatmeal cream pie Eva had gotten at a bakery.
And I was like, I could bring this to the podcast.
But no.
But I didn't.
I was next to a Krispy Kreme this afternoon.
I was very close.
Oh, man.
Dude, I got one of their chocolate with the sour cream icing, like when it was fresh,
and it tasted like a fried Oreo.
Oh, no.
It's just unreal.
They're ridiculous when they're fresh.
It's stupid.
All right.
Music time.

Hey, this is music time.
We're going to play some songs with words and the musical notes and maybe a rhythm.
I think rhythm.
Matt's not here, so there will be rhythm.

I say there is rhythm in his stuff.
It's just-
Just off rhythm.
Hard to count.
I got rhythm.
No, you don't.
I got music.

they were like we made money doing this we did this there's so many my brother's band
that's doing that too obviously they're doing a 30-year reunion tour but like
there's so many bands right now that are just like hey yeah we could just like tour right now
all those kids that used to come to our shows are grown up and have jobs now and they have money
yeah they have more money than they had before um i saw all right yeah barely uh i saw pfr has a new
album out like what oh yeah like what the hell yeah wow just wild well speaking of uh pfr pf yeah
it's a track off their new album speaking of artists from a long time ago doing new stuff uh
it is tom petty and the heartbreakers 50th anniversary and he dead he's dead but new
songs are coming out somehow oh tupac petty yep now they're doing a big box set like in a month
or so and it's from 71 to 78 so that's cool heartbreakers formed in 76 but most of those
guys were in a band from the early 70s and then they broke up and then reformed um so anyway they
released a new song i'm not sure when this is from i would guess this is closer to 78
but it's called parade of
moons it's got a little rolling up all these like got my first real sick stream
bought it at the five and dime
so
it's like as far as petty songs it's like mid but i'm like even a mid petty song
to me yeah to my taste is great yeah like it just sounds like tom petty yeah and it's
he has one album like i cannot stand it's right like uh full moon fever was the big kind of
resurgence album it's the one before that where it was like they've run out of ideas they're like
and other than that album i'm like put on anything i'll love it yeah which one was it
uh it's called let me up i've had
enough no i literally don't know if i it the only song off of it was not a big hit
um but it was called oh shit what was it called i don't know um not one of his it's not even on
greatest hits but that was like their biggest single from that album and it was kind of like
they needed whatever happened for full moon fever to like yeah they needed a flop
yeah well and full moon fever was the first time he did a solo album even though like i
the band all played on it yeah um and that was probably actually the necessary like
something new something had to change so yeah anyway i'm excited about glenn hansard's stuff
that is dropping after his death man we found out that um he's got like him and marquetta did a
musical together um yeah called twice no i think it's i think it's uh waking ned divine i think i
think that's what it is i think it's uh waking ned divine i think i think that's what it is
what it is oh so it did a musical of like an existing uh yeah ip yes um story that hasn't
released yet also he has an album that's coming out but it's like he dude dude was like churning
shit out like prolific yeah god damn um all right i'm gonna play a song from a new band i have found
i don't know how new they are oh you see i don't know they've been around for a little bit i guess
um they're on tour now um
god damn it i want to see their albums and when they were released hold on
uh 2026 is the most recent i guess they've been around since 2016
um band's called like roses it's uh two uh women in a band uh pop punk
and i just found them on tiktok and i'm like this shit is good like roses so good
i'll try again
to get you out of here
make something more of us
to loosen up and pretend like someone's listening
these walls keep closing in
i'll try again
to make something more of us
to loosen up and pretend like someone's listening
these walls keep closing in
in a lie on
the living room floor
watch blades on the ceiling fan rotate
just like we did those weeks when we stayed up for days
a runaway picture
so god damn tired of being
afraid of everything
i'll never let
go
so fucking good
yeah
check them out
so they're pretty good
downloaded the album
yep like roses uh that song is called holidays
so just if anybody's looking for it because it took me a while to find out
because like the lyrics that i heard on tiktok didn't mention the word
holiday at all
oh yeah
but uh yeah
all right josh what do you got
nice
um i'm gonna just play another song from this album because
it features avril lavigne
oh
like really throwback they also have a song that features good charlotte
wait which avril lavigne
the the one that didn't die or disappear whatever was supposed to have happened to her
i forget what her name is
but not avril lavigne the artist playing avril lavigne
yes yes it's the chris gaines avril lavigne
yeah
uh
you don't remember that conspiracy avril lavigne died
in the early aughts and she got replaced by a super fan
oh so it was just another paul is dead
yes yeah yeah
but like
lavigne there we go
i feel like it'd be easier
but the rabbit hole is the whole rabbit hole is pretty fucking deep
dude i wish the internet had existed during the paul is dead thing
oh it'd be crazy
they didn't have the internet and it still like went around but it's like
okay if you're gonna replace a person
you're gonna replace a person
like the paul mccartney has a pretty distinct
voice
uh
face
musical ability
face
like
you don't just plug someone into the fucking beatles
yeah
yeah here's the new guy
do you know who announced the death of john lennon like publicly
oh it was like on a sports
yeah
during a football game
i just found this out this week
oh damn
uh howard cosell
yeah
yeah
wow
on a on a monday night football
uh
uh
like so what had what had happened was
uh i guess yoko had asked them not to tell anybody
but there was a guy from abc news
at the hospital
at the hospital
getting treated himself for something else
he found out
did not know yoko's wishes
called the news desk
let them know
they called howard
and then that's how it got leaked
wow
i was all using landlines too folks
yeah
back in the day
uh yeah so i'm gonna go and play another song from them
it's called uh you broke me too
and it's featuring a lot of people
it's a song called complicated part two
complicated part two yes
i dropped mine just a bit so it comes in the middle of the night and i'm running back what you said
you're not even here but you still won't let me rest i'm just so tired all these years lost in love
lost in love
you're not even here but you still won't let me rest i'm just so tired all these years lost in love lost in love
you're not even here but you still won't let me rest i'm just so tired all these years lost in love
And I'm hanging on to every word when you're gone
Follow where you lead me, but you just lead me on
Say that you want me, I know you don't, no you don't
Cause you don't know what I've been through
But you led me to you
You found me, I was broken
You let a little bit of hope in
But you, you broke me too
This is all my own fault as you get in my head
I just feel like I dropped back into high school
Get the best of my heart
Then you leave me for dead
Tell me you love me
I know you won't, no you won't
She's a good impersonator.
Yeah, Melissa's great.
But I've been through
Melissa Joan Hart
Melissa Vandella
Yeah, it's fun.
You found me, I was broken
You let a little bit of hope in
You guys ever hear of Bruce Coburn?
I have not.
Canadian?
It sounds familiar.
It's spelled like cockburn.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, but it's Coburn.
Anyway, he's like, I've known of him
and known like, oh, he's good
and like have maybe heard a few songs in passing.
He's got one song called
Wandering Where the Lions Are,
which like I love that song,
but that's like all I knew.
And I went on a,
I wouldn't say a deep dive, but a dive.
You got your cock burnt?
Yup.
And so I found this song from the,
I'm going to play the,
the 1982 version,
just a little clip of it
so you can get a taste.
This is like
what Rich Mullins was going for in 1989.
It sounds like Phil Collins too.
But it was very like gated,
gated drums.
Yup.
But it's a great song called
If I Had You.
had a rocket launcher uh this is a version with him and his guitar that i really like
here comes the helicopter
second time today
everybody scatters
and hopes it goes away
how many kids they've murdered
only god can say
hey if i had a rocket launcher
hey
if i had a rocket launcher
if i had a rocket launcher i'd make somebody pay
damn so i'm gonna i'm gonna take it up to this one part that's really cool
so this is him one guitar
set your own helping to keep yeah which i just i can never do that like
play anything nearing
wow i've never heard of this guy and now i want to listen to all of this so well it'll take you
you should do the the chronological listen through because his first album came out in 1969 oh my god
okay
and he's pretty prolific so but he's yeah everything i was just kind of hopping through
his catalog and i was just like even like his 80s so we're like i hate that sound of that 80s song
with the gated drums and the synth and but i was just like man they're good he's got a lot of good
lefty songs too like yeah so he's a real one one of my favorite uh singer-songwriters um has a side
project called mock trial um with
an artist called ariza um the uh cousin ariza i don't know it's a lesser a lesser member of the
wu-tang clan um the artist i love is isabel plus uh but the their their duo is called mock trial
uh and i heard this song and i'm like god damn this is great uh it's called round trip check it
out
you
quite when you're at peace
meditation seems like a great skill
but fuck sitting for 20 minutes while some guy tells me how to breathe
i hold on to grief
i'm not sure what the reason is
but i'm just another void echoing all this noise holding all this existential dread
one two three
just another round trip
that was nice
take it
coming around to bite me
just another round trip
circle around the sun and i still feel sick
yeah so what's the the gist yeah mock trial mock trial mock trial is the the duo isabel's great
um i've followed her for i don't know god damn five ten years i don't know what's going on with
my mic oh fuck this shit all right i got a cover for you what the fuck it's just no way no it's back
well all right i got a cover for you michael all right let's see you you've made your thoughts clear on a specific group of bands that share a name is it a slipknot no
it's a cover of it though
my friend the communists
yeah he's made his thoughts on crow
oh i like cheryl crow
he's just like
the black crows
he's just like the black crows
he's just like the black crows
he's just like the black crows
i'm okay with cheryl crow is better than all of the crow bands
cheryl crow
that's such a bad take
is peak
uh i would say counting crow
is counting crows are pretty good
what are the other crows
black crows
fuck them
you don't like the blacks okay
i see it is
they're not black
none of them are
it's stolen valor
but this is aj lee and blue sun
it's they've got a couple covers on there
i've got one for uh
uh fishing in the dark
fishing in the dark
which is fun
i like it
i like it
i've switched over to matt's channel
i think the sound's gone
so we can blame matt then
yeah we can blame
well blame my channel for
going bad but here we are
actually i don't even know
yeah that's right okay yeah
all right well this has been music time
yep there you go
um we'll see you on the flippity flop
bye
bye
bye
Lock up your fears, dry out your tears, refill your beers.
We're headed into the newsfeed.
Allie just freaked you the fuck out.
Uh-uh.
Don't be licking my leg, you weirdo.
Weirdo worm.
Got a couple product updates here.
All right, product update.
First, Kraft Dinner's wildest collab yet.
Kraft Dinner and Soly's launch a cream soda that tastes like mac and cheese.
Nope.
Yep, hard pass.
No thanks.
Limited time collaboration features Soly's classic cream soda infused with Kraft Dinner's signature cheesy notes.
There's no fucking reason for this.
Yeah.
Nobody wants this.
The tease was drink outside the box.
No thanks.
Joan's soda was doing this bullshit 30 years ago.
And we hated it then.
Yeah.
It was like a novelty.
Yeah, I'm going to buy the Thanksgiving Day soda.
Uh-huh.
Everybody's going to have a little teaspoon of it.
I had one of my photographs.
It was on the Joan's website.
Remember how all their labels were different?
Oh, right.
Yeah, yeah.
And someone emailed me and was like, hey, I just saw you.
Because this was.
I saw your ugly mug on it.
No.
Well, no, it was a photograph I'd taken.
One of my black and whites.
Did you submit it?
Yeah.
And somebody was like, hey, I just saw a picture from you on the Joan's soda website.
That's funny.
Oh, that's cool.
A fan submitted a picture of my brother's band and it made it on the bottle.
That's fun.
That's awesome.
I forget what flavor it was.
It was a green flavor.
The other one is that Wendy's releases a new emo album with metalcore pop punk vocalists.
Wendy's?
Yeah, Wendy's.
Sounds like AI.
Well, I can read the AI overview for you if my computer will load.
Wendy's fast food chain launched.
Come on, stop.
Do this.
Come on.
The happy-go-lucky pigtailed Wendy has gone emo now donning asymmetrical sideswept bangs,
black eyeliner, and black hair.
Where are you?
Where are you?
Where are you?
There it goes.
Where are you?
Where's the beef?
On September 23rd, Wendy's released a six-song emo album called Songs to Listen To in the
Wendy's Parking Lot.
The album is available for streaming on major music platforms and features vocalists from
the emo music industry.
So it has worked.
Let's see here.
And we didn't play this during music time?
I know.
I didn't.
I should have.
You know, I make a point to not read the article.
I just go for the headline.
The cover?
The cover's pretty good, actually.
I'm not angry about the cover.
That's pretty great.
Go ahead.
Yeah.
Car in a Wendy's parking lot.
They even have the Wendy's, like, sign.
Better way to sleep.
The Wendy's sign is, like, partially out.
Oh, yeah.
Nice.
I like it.
So does it say what artists are on the album?
I'm trying to get to this.
Dude, my computer.
This computer.
This is a 2014 MacBook.
Like, I'm working.
I think mine's 2012.
That's why I don't do anything on it.
Yeah.
It's a stream yard on my hashtag list.
That's all I can handle.
She said she didn't want fries is one song.
Salt in the wound is another.
I miss the sun room.
Go for it.
Maddie Mullins.
Yeah.
Chloe Kennan.
Shane Told.
Bless the fall.
State champs.
State champs.
Jeez.
Holy Wars.
It's not a phase.
I said she didn't want fries.
It's a 10 piece.
Salt in the wound.
I miss the sun room.
That's a good one.
- Dude, I miss the sunroom, it's true.
- The best combo or meal on the worst dot dot dot.
- The worst night of my life.
- It's not a phase, it's a 10 piece.
My Frosty's funeral.
- I'm here for it.
- That's great.
- Wendy's has always done social media better
than everyone else has.
I don't know why everyone else sucks so much.
- I'm gonna add that to next week's.
- Yeah, I'm definitely gonna listen to that.
- Bastards.
- All right.
- And I will say, not only their social media's good, great.
As far as food quality, I feel like of the fast food
restaurants, they've stayed.
Everybody else has taken a nosedive,
and they're pretty stable.
- When you've lost the high schoolers,
Cadence is like, I fucking hate McDonald's.
He's like, I had it the other day, it was awful,
I never wanna eat there again.
- Wendy's has definitely gone down a little bit.
The bread is not good.
- It's not as good.
- But it is better than the bad ones.
- Yeah.
- All right.
New Hampshire Libertarian Party endorses, quote,
"Assassination of elected Democrats."
The New Hampshire Libertarian Party has again issued
a call for political violence.
In a post Tuesday on X, the party's account wrote,
"We openly support the assassination
"of basically every elected Democrat in New Hampshire."
In the latest in a series of calls for violence
in the party's social media accounts, including again--
- Live free and die.
- Right.
- Again, against then--
Wait, is live free or die, is that New Hampshire?
- Yeah.
- I was thinking it was Delaware.
Okay, you're right.
You are right, yeah.
- I always, I'm like, it's one of the two,
and then I'm like, oh no, Vermont is Fish and Bernie Sanders.
It's New Hampshire. - Yes, yeah.
Well, and Vermont is shaped like a V.
That was always told the difference on the map.
- Oh, 'cause they're like mirror image
of each other, sort of, yeah.
- In a statement Wednesday,
the New Hampshire Attorney General's office told NHPR,
"We can confirm that the New Hampshire Department of Justice
"is aware of the social media posts.
"We would not be in a position
"to comment further at this time."
- Somebody's going to jail.
- Yeah, yeah.
- And then Trump will.
- But they've done it before.
Like, it talks about how they said stuff
against Kamala Harris, which was the vice president,
and like, nothing has happened.
So, yeah.
- Well, that's 'cause she's a woman.
- That's true, yeah.
She has a comment. - Dude, that's a, I mean.
- Oh, wow.
- Like, that doesn't seem very libertarian.
- Yeah.
- That's very not chill, bro.
- Well, I mean, the New Hampshire libertarians
are like the libertarians of libertarians.
- Yeah.
- But there was a whole movement of people
to move to New Hampshire to like take over the state
with libertarian--
- Well, it's 'cause there's only like 20 people
in the state.
- Right.
- The rest is forest.
- And all these people did move out there
to like start filling offices and stuff, but, huh.
- It's in a statement, the Libertarian Party, like,
the big one, wrote that the LPNH believes
that New Hampshire is healthier and freer
when anyone who would enact an income tax
fears for their life.
Sure.
The state libertarian-- - That's what the national--
- That's what the national one said, yeah.
- So, they weren't saying we disagree with this?
They were just saying-- - Yeah, they just said, like,
this is what they believe.
The state libertarian party lost its national affiliation
in May for violating the party's rules and ideals.
- Okay.
- So, yeah. - Yeah.
And I remember being a big Gary Johnson stan.
- Yeah.
- And Ron Paul.
- Was Gary Johnson the one that didn't know
where Aleppo was?
- Yeah.
- Yeah, that was him.
- I don't even know what Aleppo is.
- All right, one more.
Owners mourn spoiled food after firmware update
bricks Samsung smart fridges.
I think our fridge is a Samsung, by the way,
but it didn't break 'cause we don't have it, like--
- Connected. - Connected.
- Is it a smart?
Is it a smartphone?
- Yes, it is, but we don't use it that way.
- Our smart fridge.
What do you mean you don't, why did you buy a smart fridge?
- It's a smart fridge if you're not gonna use it
as a smart fridge.
- It's part of the package.
- Yeah, we didn't care about that.
We wanted like the size and like the option,
like the other options.
- You can get another fridge that's not smart, bro.
That was a choice.
- Right.
When we were shopping for the refrigerators,
the one that had the actual like space
and like drawer options and shit that we wanted,
that was actually the best deal.
- That's wild.
- So, I use, like I do have it connected.
- They're watching, they're probably.
- I mean, I'm sure they are.
- You don't have to connect it, they're connected.
- Oh yeah, for sure.
- But I have it connected.
Originally had it connected so it could tell me
like when I needed to change the filter.
- Oh, it never disconnected.
- But it doesn't work, it like, it stopped working
and I was like, all right, I don't care.
- Yeah.
- Some Samsung smart fridges, Samsung smart,
some Samsung smart fridges.
- Some Samsung smart fridges.
- That's what I order at the Chinese.
- What's the deal with all these Samsung smart fridges?
- Korean outlets were the first to report the problems.
- Korean outlets?
- Yeah, 'cause they realized.
- Where they plugged them in, they're like,
these outlets are current.
- Korean.
- Mm-hmm.
- Gotta get these--
- Shit, this is the exact line that we have too,
is the Samsung's bespoke line of fridges.
- Eat shit.
- I know, right?
- Eat, how bored do you have to be to get a fucking--
- A bespoke fridge.
- Bespoke, eat shit, man.
- And it's by definition not bespoke.
- Bespoke, yeah, the fact that the massive--
- All your food has radiation in it
'cause it's a smart fridge.
- The affected fridges suddenly lost power
and stopped functioning immediately after trying
to issue a firmware update through SmartThings,
which is their platform.
The app then showed the devices as offline.
Some users said their fridge internal display was stuck,
showing the message, checking the app during update.
There are numerous reports--
- Showing the message, it's my food now, bitch.
- Right, well, this is the Korean one,
so I don't know if it's like,
if it just was focused there.
- Oh.
- The refrigeration functions themselves
did not work normally,
so all the food in the refrigerator had to be disposed of.
- Oh, man.
- Samsung didn't respond to questions.
- AI, man.
- About what it will do to prevent this
from happening in the future,
or how many units are affected,
and in which countries.
- I watched a documentary this week about,
I should've put this in my thing,
about the, there's a place,
I don't even remember where it's at,
but there's a place in the US that there are no,
there's no cell service and there's no,
intentionally, and no internet at all.
Like, they don't have--
- They're like, it's the happiest county
in the country. - Right.
- Yeah.
- It's all very, everything's remote.
- Bespoke.
- Yeah, it's all very bespoke.
Except for not a bespoke refrigerator.
But it's like, there's a big telescope there
that, and people who are like,
apparently people have bad reactions to frequencies,
radio frequencies, so a lot of people will move there
because it's one of the few spots.
- They're like, I'm an empath.
- Where is this again?
- I can't remember where the fuck it's at.
There's a big telescope, satellite telescope in the area,
and that's part of the reason why is so,
they cut back the signal for that.
- Interesting.
- Anyway, so, it's just weird that they have,
there's a town general store where people will--
- Talk?
- Go and meet up if something's going on,
if there's a bad storm.
- Oh, yeah.
- You know, because--
- Post things on a bulletin board.
- Yeah.
- They're all very much interconnected.
They play live music together, they're just,
but it's not like a cult.
It's just people that are disconnected from the internet.
- I've been thinking about--
- 'Cause you can still have phone lines.
It's not like you're cut off.
- Yep, they can have land lines, that's it.
- Coffee shops or bars or stuff,
any place that wants to pretend to be
what they used to call a third place and really be that,
they should have a way to check in your phone when you show up.
If you know you're gonna be there for a bit,
you're just like, I can give you my phone,
I know it's gonna be safe, and it's just out of my way.
- Little locker, phone locker.
- Little phone locker.
- Dude, it's funny, 'cause it's always like,
oh, the kids are always on their phones.
Whenever, so are the adults.
- Adults are worse, if not--
- So much worse.
Whenever, like, so I've got the after school club
doing tech for theater.
Like, those kids are hardly ever on their phones.
They're hanging out, they're talking, they're, you know,
whatever, I'm sure when they go home, they're like,
sitting on their phone.
But like, and then at family dinners,
like, when we have everybody around,
my mom is the first one with her phone now.
- Yep.
- Like, I was, I walked behind her--
- Our kids have noticed both of their sets of grandparents
are that way.
- Yeah, I walked behind her, she came up to church
for the 15th anniversary, and Giff was up there talking,
and I was like, walking through, and she like,
pulled out her phone, and just opened Facebook.
Like, and then I watched her--
Stop kicking the dog, Josh, stop kicking the dog, Josh.
It's on tape.
I watched her, like, to see, oh, is she doing
something specific, no, she just started scrolling Facebook,
and I was like, I get it, man, like, church is boring,
but, you know.
- My kids have noticed that with their grandparents.
- Yeah.
- Like, my parents are just as bad, they've noticed it more
with the way that Mikayla's parents do it,
like, when they do it.
But it's just as bad. - Are they just much grander,
like, my mom taps from about a foot away,
and the font is, like, an inch.
- Yeah, and, man, it's just so, it's funny,
because I think that, like, the younger generations,
they are, they're definitely on their phones as much,
but they're on them in a slightly different way,
because they're so native to it,
that they do all the stuff of, like, I'm at a stop sign,
I'm gonna pull out my phone for a second.
Like, they do that, but it's different than, it's less
noticeable, almost, I don't know, it feels different.
I don't know why, but it does feel different.
yeah fucking weird maybe it's because i remember years of my parents like just not doing that kind
of shit and now they always do it and i feel it myself whereas like my kids i'm trying to figure
out how to help them in my yeah i don't know it's it's a weird thing yeah who's got news feed now
who's was that your that was my last one okay now it's me pinch it off we were jumping into
pinch it off josh uh so a man is accused i got more of these but i'm gonna eat more

dumb bitch you dumb bitch uh walked in there and couldn't figure out how to walk out um

uh so somehow there was surveillance video inside the home which i feel like if you're a woman
bringing home tinder dates good idea good call yeah um it showed wait coffee fit is it coming

the residence well see you later
47 a.m so i'll just take did not stay for breakfast damn he's like i gotta she offered
i got an early meeting i gotta go busk in the streets um and in a separate case he's accused
of stealing an electric bicycle valued at eleven hundred dollars much more than a yamaha dreadnought
uh surveillance video reportedly showed him passing the business on another bicycle
blah blah blah the guy's been stealing shit but here's what i love
they post a video of him stealing a bicycle and he's like oh my god i'm gonna steal a bicycle and
his mugshot and i'm like yeah he can get it yeah he can get some tinder dates he's like smoldering

you've got a vagina you've got a vagina i've got a vagina let's rub them together yeah whatever
whatever they do god we don't want to talk about it together think about the rubbings
too many rubbings i could rub right now surprise we're not rubbing one out right now
a man was arrested on not man was arrested on saturday in connection with a shooting that took
place during child custody exchange in a residential neighborhood according to the
clay county sheriff's department
that's clay county florida for those keeping track florida don't play the song the sheriff
florida man florida man does whatever a florida man can see that's perfect that's the right amount
uh the sheriff's office said that 32 year old darius elijah winard kirkland accompanied his
girlfriend regularly scheduled child custody no that's wilson king of prussia my bad that's for
the fish fans
um are you talking about the fresh prince of bel-air the the fish prince of bel-air
the fresh prince fish prince
well what kind of what are kind of fish prints there is
what's what what what what fish is the king of fishes
freshwater anastasio is the oh that fish yeah i spell the ph to be clear okay
and i spelled prince p-r-i-n-t-s for some reason just thought it'd be good fish prince the fish prince
that's my new fish themed uh greeting card company because i literally listened to an and it's actually
christian fish yeah hell yeah i literally listened to a podcast today where they did a whole like
extended thing about prince and prince and oh it sounds like i got a bog oh man i bet it was a real
rager it was it was hilarious uh sheriff's office reported that you listened to it it wasn't an
article god damn i know right uh pussy it wasn't a whole it wasn't i watched a documentary aka tiktok
so kirkland is a convicted felon and unable to own firearms legally the r&b singer
yeah but he armed himself with an ar franklin yeah kirkland no it's the costco house brand
say uh he's unable to own firearms but he armed himself with an ar style rifle and a semi-automatic
pistol before the exchange so like they say you can make all the laws you want the bad guys are
gonna get guns they're gonna get guns so we need to have the good guys it's a good guy get guns
no uh so after the father's arrival to a gun so i've been thinking about that all week that's my
right side
treat myself to a gun on in my mouth same um after so kirkland is the boyfriend of the mom
after the father's sample yeah after the father's he's probably from charlie kirkland
charlie kirkland had a gun it's like jenny's got a gun but it's less fun
less fun i've been meaning to ask you guys sexually abused killing her dad
oh my god it wasn't done by aerosmith will you be my kirkentine next year of course of course
so anyway oh my neck the boyfriend has the ar-15 and the semi-automatic pistol
after the father arrives remind you to hand off the child for a custody agreement
yep
uh the kid exited kirkland's girl
this is wow hey i wrote it the young child actually kirkland's girlfriend
exited the vehicle and began walking toward her father's car now is this counting or not
counting gang violence but is it counting the crows or not so okay so i'm trying to keep track
here the guy with the guns is the boyfriend of the mom who has the kid who's sharing joint custody
i'm already lost the spider wiggled and jiggled and giggled inside her
so kirkland sorry that took too long i finally got kirkland kirkland is armed
he and his girlfriend are dropping off the girlfriend's daughter to meet her dad for a
custody exchange this guy named after the charlie kirk theme park yeah the
the dog
is that the new
that's what they're going to turn the ark adventure into or whatever
welcome to kirkland my name's ken ham
uh we're still gonna get uh so anyway insurance that the daughter is walking
we got jesus on the cross and kirk in the neck
way to go kelly took my socks off earlier even kelly like picks on you
fucking hell
so the girl is walking from the car with the guns toward the other car
kirkland also gets out of the car when the girl is walking there pulls out the rifle
and points it at the father's car
as he was getting out.
He then fired the rifle numerous times
at the father who turned fire with his own pistol.
Remind you. They had a firefight.
The daughter is walking from car to car.
It was a firefight!
And then he retreated into neighboring yards.
The sheriff's office said the father's vehicle
was struck by bullets numerous times
while another young child was inside.
Goddamn.
Several houses in the area were also hit by stray bullets.
Were these stormtroopers firing?
Right?
Only stormtroopers can be so precise.
During the exchange of gunfire,
that's a polite way to put it,
the mother, Kirkland's girlfriend,
for those keeping track. It's just an exchange.
It's a polite exchange. was able to retrieve both children
and get them to safety.
No one was injured,
which I feel like those two guys
should have just killed each other
and done us all a favor.
But. The father returned. The father returned to the scene
following the incident
and surrendered to deputies.
Kirkland fled the scene
in his girlfriend's vehicle.
Did this guy. He's never. He doesn't have a job.
I can tell you that right now.
How did he get the AR-15?
Wow.
Just because he's black?
Goddamn it.
Who said he was black?
Wow.
Does he have four names
and they were spelled weird?
There are no pictures,
but he does have four names
and they are spelled weird.
So he could be Spanish.
Yes.
He could be fucking white trash Indiana
where Briley somehow is a 20-syllable
or 20-letter name.
So he left the scene
in his girlfriend's vehicle
but crashed into a tree
before attempting to hide
in the yard of a nearby residence.
The vehicle and tree both caught fire
like it's in The Simpsons.
The tree got caught on fire?
That's like hard to catch a tree on fire.
There's a rule in The Simpsons.
People used to do it all the time.
Oh my gosh.
Anytime in The Simpsons a car crashes,
it has to catch on fire.
That's like a rule.
And that's what I picture here.
He's like, he's driving off.
He's like, it's a tree.
This almost feels illegal to know
if you're a side sleeper.
What I've discovered.
That's not me.
I thought that was a clip from you.
It was an accident.
Oh, jeez.
Can you isolate that, please?
They caught that on fire
and it caught an unoccupied car.
It caught an unoccupied car.
It caught an unoccupied vehicle
nearby on fire.
Jesus Christ.
A vehicle.
They tried to kill him with fire.
Two vehicles and a tree.
From now on,
I'm only reading the first 30% of a story
because this is primo shit.
It just gets crazier every day.
At first, I'm aghast
because it's like,
oh, there's your daughter's
walking between the cars
and you're shooting.
And now I'm like,
dude drove into a tree
and it caught on fire.
He got the car, the tree,
and another car.
Did he catch any houses?
Did he catch any houses on fire, too?
I don't think so,
but he was treated for his injuries
and then arrested
and charged with attempted murder.
Oh, is that all?
Possession of a firearm
by convicted felon
and child abuse.
Oof.
Oh, God damn.
Well, that sounds much fun.
Not to mention
catching a tree on fire.
All right, Michael.
Is that Arborside?
Is that what that's called?
Attempted Arborside?
Yeah.
Nationwide is Arborside.
Wow.
All right.
The House greenlights a bill
to require AM radios
in all new cars.
What?
This is what's important.
Wait, did you say outlaw AM?
The House requiring
AM radios in new cars.
That's because all the conservative talk radio
is on AM.
They all must have.
No, I think there's probably
actually something good there.
Because I feel like AM radio
for rural,
rural communities
and like stuff
is really important.
Yeah.
But knowing that the House
is run by Republicans,
I can't assume.
You just assume
it's for nefarious purposes.
And it probably is.
Speaking of being run
by Democrats,
New York City
deploys robo-toilets.
What?
The bathrooms have
a strict 10-minute limit.
Nice.
So do you know what happens?
That's your dick off.
You know what happens
after 10 minutes?
A lid shuts over the toilet.
It's just like,
stop.
Stop.
Stop.
It opens the door.
Oh.
The door cracks open.
It's perfect
if I'm like a homeless guy
in New York
because I can have some privacy
and take a shit.
But then when the door opens,
I can be sitting there
jerking off
for all the bystanders.
Yeah, I can get both.
When an occupant
approaches the limit,
the speaker inside the room
My culture is on your costume,
okay?
Emits an automated message
telling them they're
running out of time.
Once the 10 minutes are up,
the speaker states,
attention,
your time has expired.
The door is opening now.
In English and English.
In English and in Spanish.
I just blew myself.
And then the door slides open
exposing the user
to the public.
Well, you know.
Wait, so these actually
like move around?
Yeah, they're like mobile,
look like little mobile homes
with like,
they have a ramp
as well.
You can go inside of it.
Oh, so it's like
the kind that's in a trailer?
Yeah.
It's got solar panels
and a little ramp.
Those are a lot better
than port-a-potties.
Yes, they are.
I mean,
it's basically
multiple port-a-potties
together,
but still.
Yeah, but it feels
like a bathroom.
Yeah.
Like it's a real toilet.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
It's a real toilet.
There's a real urinal.
There's a sink inside.
It looks nice inside,
but I can't remember
the last time
it took me under 10 minutes
to take a shit.
Well.
I'm not a real quick shitter.
I'm not either,
but if I.
I'd have to really try.
Because I'm a morning
BM kind of guy.
Yeah.
It's like my whole routine
is there.
There's the wordle.
There's the scroll.
Check this out.
Like,
if I actually,
any other time of day
have to take a shit,
I'm like,
it's.
It's going to be a minute.
Yeah, it's pushing cotton
and I'm like,
10 minutes is good.
Pushing cotton.
Okay, so.
That's not a phrase
I've been accustomed to.
So this is,
this came out
during an interview
with Woody Harrelson.
It was a conversation
with Woody Harrelson
and Jimmy Kimmel.
They still,
they still let him
talk.
Barely.
Barely,
barely,
barely.
You're like,
oh yeah,
he's on our snowy.
Harrelson,
Harrelson is promoting
the Apple TV series
Brothers with good pal
Matthew McConaughey
and possible half brother.
Gifted Kimmel
a gigantic joint
from his West Hollywood
cannabis lounge
and dispensary.
Anyway,
the comedian
proceeded to share
an outrageous story
involving Matthew McConaughey.
So Kimmel got choked up
during the
in memoriam.
Did I hear you say that?
Montage after it paid tribute
to Cleto,
his childhood best friend
and longtime band leader
on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
He went to the bathroom
to collect himself
and then
here's what Kimmel says.
He says,
my friend Cleto passed away
and it was,
it was in the montage
and I started getting choked up
and I went to the bathroom.
I'm washing my hands
and I noticed next to me,
I mean,
right next to me
is Matthew McConaughey
at the urinal.
He says,
he sees that I'm upset
and he's like,
hey,
are you okay?
And I told him
what had happened
and he is again
at the urinal
and he turns to me
and gives me
a very nice big hug.
He hugs me warmly
and I'm hugging him
for a little bit
and then I said,
is your penis out?
And he said,
yes,
yes it is.
He says,
and he says,
in fact,
I'm going to go
I'm going to rub it
against you a little bit.
So,
yeah.
It's nice to know
that these people
are exactly like you think
they are.
Apparently,
at that very moment,
Harrelson emerged
from one of the stalls
to see the moment,
the intimate moment.
So,
and he says,
I never try to grade
or critique
what other people are doing.
I just figured you guys,
whatever your thing is,
I didn't want to be
the guy who would say,
no,
not in the restroom
at the Emmys.
But I did hear you say
that you were upset
and that's why afterwards
we were all out in the hall
and we had a group hug.
I'm sorry to hear about that.
So,
yep.
The old penis out hug,
Matthew McConaughey.
Wow.
Something that was shared
in the pub,
I don't remember by whom,
but I found it
in my normal methods.
But 25 minutes
and 5,000 year old teeth
revealed that ancient humans
were addicted to nut sucking.
To what?
Nut sucking.
Oh,
you know.
So they would
suck nuts.
Yeah.
Like testes?
No.
Oh, that sucks.
No, they were like,
yeah.
It does suck, actually.
The foragers,
like the
forager groups,
like they spent
a lot of time
sucking on nuts.
Sucking on nuts,
like acorns.
Outside the tasty freeze.
Acorns.
Apparently,
they were
and hazelnuts.
Seeking out a substance
that brings out
psychoactive
high.
So there's certain
It never changes, man.
Dude,
we were like,
humans were literally
licking frogs
to get high
when they couldn't
find anything else.
Like that's,
we just want to get
out of our minds.
Just ask Joe Rogan.
Yeah.
All those guys lick frogs.
Yeah.
It's because the frogs
make them gay.
William Shatner,
95.
I didn't touch her.
I saw him
through a window once.
uh
He's taking the stage this weekend with his metal band.
Yep.
So he'll be live at Riot Fest if you want to go check him out.
Upper 80s?
95.
I literally just said it.
That's what I was asking.
That was real.
Okay.
95?
I would not have guessed 95.
Yeah.
He's old.
Guys, we're old.
Dude.
Damn.
So he was 35 when Star Trek aired.
That's 60 years.
It was like 66.
It's really kind of amazing how old actors are when they finally get their break, a lot
of them.
It's really kind of amazing how old we are.
Yes, that too.
I saw Helen Hunt on a TikTok, and she is aged, but she's aged naturally, which is nice to
see.
Nice, yeah.
Very nice to see.
That's really Hollywood.
I mean, she can still get it.
Yeah.
That's what I mean.
It's weird that she likes it twice, right?
No, but it's like, no.
Probably a lot of dermatology appointments, a lot of expensive lotion.
Honestly, I'd say.
I'd say no.
I'd say, based on her, the video I saw, she's wrinkly and old.
She looks like she's aged, which is-
Yeah.
It doesn't look like-
Which is odd.
She doesn't look like she's made of wax.
She doesn't look like Sarah.
She doesn't look like, who did I mention last week?
I talked about-
Selma Hayek is who I mentioned.
You talked about Selma Hayek.
I talked about, what's her name?
Snoop Dogg's friend.
Oh, Martha Stewart.
Martha Stewart.
Yeah.
Yeah.
She's had work done.
Selma Hayek has definitely had work done.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Helen Hunt has not, and she looks great.
I mean, outside of just the normal wrinkling-
She just looks like an old lady.
She looks like an old lady.
Which is great.
But, you know.
Yeah.
Good for her.
Yep.
She's a gilf.
I don't even know what my point was.
I don't even remember what the point of Helen, but other than she can still get-
Helen Hunt's a gilf.
Yeah.
Devastated father says his nine-year-old son-
You hear it here.
Said his nine-year-old son spent $118,000 on a year.
$118,000 on a year.
YouTube ad campaign.
Oh, my God.
For his Minecraft channel.
Using a company credit card.
Company credit card.
Bill racked up more than three, in just more than three weeks.
It was supposed to be a one-time $20 promotion.
The kid misunderstood that it was like how many times it could recur.
Oh.
Yeah.
That's a lot of times.
I was reading something recently.
It was like AI-
It was like over 5,000 times.
Like, if AI gets a hold of like a credit card number, it can like-
Just process and process and process like over and over again.
But then your credit card company can-
Yeah.
I'm sure they'll find it.
They'll fix it.
Yep.
They're on your side.
They can use AI to deny all those charges.
Yeah, right?
$118,000.
Thousand.
Yep.
That's a lot of digits.
Yep.
That's a lot.
Is that six digits?
That's six digits, guys.
That is six digits.
A lot of money.
I'll never see six digits.
All right.
Oh, man.
All right.
Well, I think that's all I have.
Eat a buffet of dicks.
All right.
Let's get into Josh's fun hour.
Here we go.
I'm going to get a beer for that.
Motherfucker thinks he can just get up whenever.
We're doing a fucking podcast.
People are online.
They're commenting left and right.
Yeah.
People are everywhere.
I see this large crowd here today.
Everyone's here.
I see that hand.
I see that hand.
I see that hand.
I see that hand.
Very bigly.
This is a very-
Y'all, bow your heads and close your eyes.
I just hear it when I see that hand.
Yeah.
Josh, that is all head, bud.
That is not beer.
All I want is all head.
That's all head, y'all.
Not mo head.
That's all head.
That's all head.
All right.
What are you going to do with that?
That's not even a beer.
I'm going to wait.
He's going to let it settle.
And then refill it.
Oh, my God.
All right.
It's going to take a minute.
This is Josh's pick.
All right.
So, hit me.
Hit me.
Hit me.
Hit me with your best shot.
You've been living rent-free in my head today.
Have I?
You have.
What did I say?
I said, I have thoughts, and I would share them on the podcast.
I'm saving them for the podcast.
There you go.
All right.
What you sent me, first of all, you sent me a paragraph, and then you're like, should
we do-
So, wait.
The email didn't send you the whole thing?
The email just sent me the paragraph.
Oh.
So, I was like-
See, I tried to send you the whole thing.
No, you sent me just the paragraph.
Oh.
So, you're like, so there's that.
But-
We're talking outside of the chat.
Well, I tried to send him the email.
Because Josh still uses email like he's 90.
Jesus Christ.
I get this as an email, guys.
So, let me see if I can pull up the email you sent me.
And it's good.
Like, let me find Josh Casey.
Was it yesterday?
I think so.
That you sent me the email?
And here's what it is.
This is what you sent.
Spectacle governs the reality of the worker outside of work hours, and its goal to keep
the worker entranced and active.
Interceptive to imperatives of perpetual production and consumption.
Here is my gripe.
Not with the content.
My gripe is that if I presented you with this article, or I presented you with that paragraph-
Okay.
So, here we go.
Okay.
Then it would be eye roll city from both of you motherfuckers.
Oh, absolutely.
If I was like, everything's a fucking sham.
Everything's a fucking psyop.
Because you would have presented it as,
everything is a psyop.
But everything is a fucking psyop, and your article talks about it.
Like, it doesn't say it in the way that I say it, but absolutely.
And so, I need to spend, I need to, I've been unfair to you then.
Yeah, you have.
I need to.
So, this is my grievance.
I stand by my-
Is this Festivus?
This is marrying my grievance.
We each have our own Festivus poll here with my phone on it.
So, I, threading the needle here-
You think we're both crazy.
Yes.
Okay.
I'm a moderate here in the middle.
But I'm not on the opposite side.
I actually agree with the article as a whole.
But here's the thing.
With this kind of stuff, and a lot of things that are like, this is how the system fucks us.
Yeah.
Whether it's church, how, like, the church made this doctrine and this.
I think most of these things are not an intentional operation.
Right.
Which is what he talks about.
End goal.
But it is, oh, this works.
And people go, we can take advantage of that.
Right.
Yeah.
Or this works to our advantage.
I think a lot of shit-
But all it takes is one guy, like, even in the church, all it takes is one guy to do
this one thing.
And then it's like, oh, it works.
So, then another guy does the same thing.
Yes.
Gets the same result.
Yeah.
And does the same thing.
But like-
I mean, when it comes to like, people are like, oh, they made up, I mean, I'm just making
things up.
But like, they made up sin causes you to go to hell.
To hell, so that they could control, which I would agree, like, there was a point in
time when the church, but it wasn't like, from the outset, they were like, oh, let's
write this story about this guy that lived, and this is what we're gonna, you know, where
it all, that's where it feels conspiracy theory.
But when it's like, oh, this is the thing, and this is how this works, and this is how
this fucks us.
I'm like, yeah.
So, the thing-
We haven't even gotten into it.
We haven't even gotten into the article.
But the thing that like, would make me typically take pause when, oftentimes the things-
Because it's me, Josh.
It's because of you.
Because it's already a mother fucker.
Is that like, you tend, like, a lot of times what I hear, whether, and this may be because
it's what I'm hearing, and I may be uncharitable to you, which is why-
Yeah, because you're an asshole.
Because I'm an asshole.
Because I'm a motherfucking dick.
But like, I hear the, this is run by a shadowy cabal.
So, like, the thing, like, he has a story where he says, he's not the de-board, or de-board,
whatever his name is, the philosopher, isn't saying the spectacle is run by a shadowy cabal
of ultra-evil capitalists, but that it's the structural-
But it could be!
No, he's saying, but it is the structural, inevitable, emergent outcome of a world driven
by capital accumulation.
Yeah.
So, which is worse, that we fell backwards into it, or that, or, or that, like, it was
designed that way.
But see, I think that, I think-
There's still people that are complicit in all of this.
We're still, we're still fucked either way, but the thing is, is I think, more often than
not, things are the way they are, because humans are just like, like, they're just doing
their thing.
Not because there is some sort of group of people, or, or small, whatever-
Pentavrit.
Yeah, that, like, there's no Illuminati.
Yeah, there's no Epstein Island.
It's not real, right?
But, like, what I'm trying to say is that, like, those people-
That, that is different than those people actually running the world.
There are people who do meet together in private, like, this has been exposed.
Like, there are people who, wealthy, well-off people, and Jordan, not Jordan, Joseph Leavitt
Gordon-
Joseph Gordon Leavitt.
Yeah, that guy, was recently exposed to be on a list of people who got together, a very
wealthy and influential people that, their intent is to shape our society.
Why was he there?
Well, I mean, his last show was actually pretty good.
What show was his?
I don't remember, I'll have to look it up.
I'd have to look up the, the, the-
And see, like, I think that-
But he had to come out, he had to come out and, like, defend himself as to why he would
take part in that, and, and what that-
Well, I mean, and Ezra Klein had to do that recently with, like, where he was in, he was
at a conference out, you know, that-
Yeah.
Fucking Peter Thiel, like, five years ago, but-
Mr. Corman.
Mr. Corman?
It was-
Joseph Gordon Leavitt.
I saw, yeah, he was like-
It was really good.
He was like-
We saw like two episodes of it.
- It was like a t-shirt.
- Yeah.
- It was really good.
- It was like a music t-shirt.
that was in the era of Netflix
just trying one thing and then
spaghetti at the wall
sorry keep going
this is the ADHD
right it is
it's not that there aren't
I guess I'm trying to say
he was part of the Peter Thiel dialogue group
conversation Joseph Gordon-Levitt
and that was the same thing that Ezra Klein was in
and he like did a whole thing where he was like
this is fucking stupid why are you
but at the same time
yeah don't pay attention to the information that got released
so that's the thing
is I think most of the
most of the time
it's just things are happening
and there are powerful people that are doing
the thing but they are looking out for number one
and they are not I don't think that there is
I am
very very suspect of
you're absolutely fucking insane if you don't think
of conspiracies
there are people pulling the strings on some of this stuff
but see that's the thing
what people what strings
because
billionaires
right but to actually control
everything like the things that we are experiencing
in life in this life to me
it's too there's just too much
there are too many things
it's pulling the strings
do you he's a fucking idiot
chaos and we would he has
he has a he has a
definitely has a part in all of this
he has a part but he is not
there are no we know that Russia
influenced her our election to
it's like those are what do you mean by influence
yes through Facebook
yes they did
what do you mean by influence
to get us to vote for Donald Trump
yes
but also
yes and we are
susceptible to that but we as a society
are susceptible to all
kinds of propaganda
like we're
like Jesus Christ
I you know
I had a fucking package show up on my
door yesterday of Sarah
had ordered some fucking
dog bowl that you put yogurt
on and the dog licks the yogurt
off the ball and it oh yeah
like
it's like oh
it's got to be good it's supposed to make your dog
smart dogs dumb as
shit what the fuck are we talking about
like we're influenced into
buying shit yeah all the
fucking time yeah and we can get
into to the article but like
the I don't think
you're getting the idea
yeah and I believe
when you first brought it up I
I had the day before
I had said something
into in our group with
with Brad Brad Matt
where I
Matt said something he was complaining about the fucking
Doritos oh yeah yeah
and he was like the new
Doritos are bad
like the the hot honey
which I mean who among us
and I was in there and my response was like
yeah it just doesn't quite
it doesn't quite
numb the senses or it doesn't
quite throw the edge off
it doesn't take that yeah it doesn't
quite curb the the thrum
of existential dread and it really
is that shit like yeah that it was
I mean to be clear for every
for the three people listening that was a
fantastic line yeah it was well
done and it's just
like those are things that we
that we are fed constantly
you know
to buy oh
that's what this is about yes
Panem at Circus yes we
have to have like we're going to have to talk
about Taco Bell we're going to have to talk about the
new flavors of Mountain Dew who the
fuck care right
who cares about the new flavor like
we can talk about new there
2016 now it's the
of everything it's the 2016
yeah flavors yeah yeah
oh it's like that on the throwback
the decade yeah so
this is after when I was
Olivia Olivia Rodriguez coming out with
a Baja blast a purple Baja
boss I am gonna fucking buy it yeah
you I went and fucking I went and bought to
Olivia Rodrigo shirts that's like
you're like and you know what it made me feel
fucking good
that's like your perfect
that the
Venn diagram diagram is
Bob Olivia
hell yeah it is
so okay so I give me some
give me some old white guy
Dr. Pepper okay so now
several several you feel better now that you know
that it's about me feeling yeah I did
buy you it's that I assumed
it was something like that I feel like
I know you well enough to know if you have a real
problem with me you'll talk with me about it
like you're not gonna wait wait
and like you know gotcha
journalism on me okay
so but he has like 70
percent in the back of his mind
yeah since that text two days
I'm like fucking hell man what's gonna happen
say so I cross
the line so I get
an email or like a newsletter
yeah of course because who
the fuck reads
only fucking email only
27,000 people subscribe to this I don't
know we know 27,000 people
did subscribe to it yeah three
of them read it yes a which mean three of them
and most of them it goes directly to their
junk I was getting there so anyway
he he talks about
he will take like a
particular philosopher and like
one particular
concept from their stuff and
do a newsletter on it and it's just
it's a nice way to to work
through a particular concept sometimes I read
the whole thing sometimes I'm like all right I got it and
move on and I always
end it you were joking about the how it's got
like Bible study questions the I always
he's always got questions at the end I'm like I do
not fucking care I've any book
I've ever ever read
that has questions at the end if I'm not actually
being graded to answer them
I just skip them and move to
when Brandon your book have questions
at the end no no it did not because
did for sure to Brandon Hillary's did
and I skipped him Brandon's did and I skipped him
Steve Austin my favorite during
interviews is is asking them those
questions I fucking love it
and uh you're gonna
make me read this shit then guess what you're gonna
have to when I was doing editing like
ghostwriting type shit with a guy and
he would have those questions at the end of one of his
I I would like try to read
those I would try to make them as
as less the least patronizing
as possible and then just be like
I fucking hate this shit so you do what you
want anyway so that the title
is Guy Debord we are Debord
probably we have been reduced to
spectators in a society of
endless spectacle
um
and he basically takes this
this guy from mid-century
this mid-century French
philosopher takes his idea about like
how the like the
end goal of capitalism is essentially
to keep you constantly in the machine
whether you are actively
producing capital or not
um
and he says in the modern
industrialized world life
presents itself as an immense accumulation
of spectacles all that
once was directly lived has
become mere representation
and so I think
that like the big the big
concept here is that
we essentially get to the
point now in our lives where we
we don't actually live life we
I mean I mean there are there is a
whole genre of of
TikToks and reels where it's like the
when you've experienced
XYZ and you see
like somebody reacting to
this thing happening
and you're like that's or you
could just you could just
have the the experience and
that like our whole
lives are mediated to us
from someone else
we don't have any sort
of experience that is not mediated
by usually our phone
but in general some other sort of
outside source I mean a job
in our world right now is influence
influencer yeah it's somebody who
influences other people to buy shit
or to go to places or do
certain things or yeah or
purchase this or you know check out
this new flavor of Dorito I was
working at switcher the first time I heard of
the idea of a of an influencer
and I was like yeah fuck is that
yeah and it's a it's
a real people make a fuck ton
of money being influencers
whatever they're influencing
is whether it be about
Lego or restaurants yep you know
you know Keith being Australians
who are here in Bloomington
because the boyfriend is a kicker
no are you on that yeah
that's a real thing I mean I don't
know that they're making a living off of it
but even Billy I know exactly who
the fuck you I know because you commented on it
it was like oh they were trying
to learn how to say Hoosiers yeah she
was saying it wrong and her weeks then she
posted about La Bonita and I
was like it's the best and she was like yeah
yeah so what we've both
influencer yeah what is on
our screen
screens can at times feel more urgent
and real in reality itself yeah
the world around us devolves into an
irrelevant kind of staging area
useful only for the construction
of more spectacle yeah I got
home from work yesterday and this is a little
insight into me I'm like
I don't have anything to do
I don't know what am I supposed
to do like I didn't have any chore like I was
caught up on my chores I
was like oh I could
just get high and watch tick tock
and that's what I fucking did yeah it's
like I it wasn't
like I was bored I was just like oh
I could just relax well it's like
and that's what I did and that's what relaxing is and
that's he talks about like I know he uses the
phrase opium war at one point but it's like
we've gone beyond religion
being the opiate of the masses no
it's it's capitalism is
the opiate of the masses it absolutely is
like spectacle the the circus
is there is a hit
there is a
real get from buying yeah this
is not I am not trying to like
be high and mighty this is fucking
shit it's all of us
in different ways and
like a big thing with like the high for addicts up the thing you hear is the peak of the high
is like let's say you're like a junkie on harold yeah is when you're like wrapping up your arm
yeah it's actually four of them yeah it's not it's not when the drugs are your system you know
how many like action figures i bought that felt good to buy and then they show up they sit in a
box in my bedroom like it's it's crazy i um i'm just looking at i decided i'm gonna get on my
amazon and look at shit that i bought that is stupid um i got some dog balls needed a dog bowl
that's right sarah got a lemon squeezer we don't need a fucking lemon squeezer but you know
we we needed one i've got two lemon squeezers i'm not even talking about anything and you know
it's not a euphemism i literally have two lemon squeezers yeah um got this kind do you have an
apple slicer
i do to have an apple slicer yep um chef one that turns as well there's some shirts
there's a water bottle arab is desperately needed and then used it once and then now it's
sarah's water bottle but hey she sent you two messages on the way here right she sent me a
list uh she wants a dresser and what was the other thing i said she wanted i can pull up the
text message here um a dresser and a keyboard wireless keyboard wow
for what
a dresser how are we gonna fit a dresser in this house with 365 inch tvs exactly
that's your dresser now yeah exactly you can we're gonna get a picture of a dresser put it on
i'm like where are these tvs in this house yeah don't worry about it they're mounted to the ceiling
and all the bedrooms it's better than mirrors you know hey double it can do both but but and i say
all this knowing that i'm part of the the whole fucking problem like we're all fucking we're all
in it lock and even like like i can think about times where i was like into like living simple
like that part like i was still buying like non-electric nose hair trimmers right i was still
like i was still buying still buying i was still buying books about how to build a a clay mound
outside to
you know start a fire to bake my bread like what the fuck i have books on breaking on baking bread
i've never even fucking cracked how to do biodiesel in my chevy corsica there's a great line here he
says when we get so we get so caught up by the spectacle of commodity society yeah and we forget
that growth for growth's sake is a human choice yeah though we we've reduced we've reduced
existence from being to living and experiencing reality and finally we're just we're just watching
other people yeah who are also themselves watching other people so no one he said it went no one is
experiencing it went from being to having yeah and then it went from having to appearing appearing
you appear to have two things in the movie um six cents that i watched with diggory there was a scene
where it's like they're at a uh a play and it's like a children's play and it's like this gag
that when the the play starts all the parents lift up their their old vhs recorders and it happens
now as iphones right but it was just like everyone's got a fucking iphone everybody had a
fucking camcorder everyone is always getting the latest item that does that the other thing i was
thinking of was um hilariously enough the influencer you were just talking about with
ava and billy and she was like so she's from australia um and she's like there's a video of
her like just doing things throughout bloomington yeah and she's getting gas and she's like one
thing i've learned about america is that whatever you want there's a drive-thru for it like you can
just drive up here and just get gas like apparently that's not something that happens in australia
but like new jersey or new jersey um is it oregon there's like three states that don't do
yeah you can't pump your own gas there's like every siblings were very confused when they
no matter what you want there's a fucking drive-thru or a delivery service or something
that can just be delivered to you at any given time yeah um and that's where we're at as a society
yeah yeah
i mean the question he says what is the most valuable thing i can exchange for my time
that's the question that we have now like what is the thing that i can exchange
so like i thought this i was thinking this morning um i joked with um one of my co-workers
that i need to like make myself a pump-up playlist in the morning because of meditation we just won't
work i'm like i need something because i spent the first first 45 minutes of this morning's work
just being fucking pissed because everything was wrong everything on this goddamn
line like from the moment the bottles like were trying trying to drop into the boxes to the moment
they were taped and entering the like the people man did you and matt really are alike dude for
real did people put gloves on top of the bottles like laverne and shirley and wave at them as they
go down the line they should and you're like you fucked a whole day up and so like the thing was
was i recognized i got about i got about 20 minutes into this i'm like i'm so fucking pissed
and i don't know what to do about this yeah and i'm like i don't know what to do about this and i'm
like trying to breathe i'm like because it's fucking existential and i'm like lord right but
and so then at some point i'm like what i need is i actually need to prepare myself ahead of time
so that i'm like ready for being fucked like basically like mentally need to like you know
loosen the loosen my anus basically what's crazy is it doesn't matter it doesn't matter that shit
matters it won't matter but i'm thinking like because because the the the paradigm is what can
my time and right now i am exchanging my time for dollars yeah and what i'm doing i am like the
dollars that i'm getting are not worth yeah the frustration and the anger and probably the minutes
off of my life literally and metaphorically that i'm losing by by being a human taper because this
fucking machine won't work so i'm having to rip the tape off and retape a box better than better
than dollars for pesos though man it's true and so like but dollars for donuts i would take donuts
you know so like but then you just
be like fatter than i am i mean well no i mean like you get like a couple donuts and you're like
i don't have to work anymore that's true yeah and so like i think that when you talk about the the
we forget that growth for growth's sake is a human choice like we have chosen to live in this world
we haven't chosen us we have not chosen this is the world we find ourselves in but as a society
as a culture we have chosen to live in yeah i don't know that we have though i don't like
yes ongoing choice it's an ongoing choice that we can choose to be
we can choose to go and live in a in a remote part of the country right there's no cell signal
unplugged from the matrix yeah exactly that's the thing like what what alternative is there how do
you you can't because he's like what about revolution like what the fuck yeah what revolution
i talked about this uh before the podcast even started i was talking venting you guys about how
i had to waste some time at work that was stupid like i should is just like i still got paid for
that time yeah but even though it was stupid but but for me it was it was about respect in
that moment yeah uh that was that was frustrating to me is like it like you can you can say it's
fine yeah it's on and so like for me it's just like fucking show me some humanity to realize that
like like yes you are paying me to do this dumb shit that you fucked up um but like
i'm sorry would it be helpful yeah i i talked with i was today was talking with one of my
been there for five years and and he had that he first he said i was really hoping we could
actually like actually train you instead of what i got and i'm like well you've been here for five
years and this is what you got so this is what i'm gonna get but he said you know he's like so
and so told me why x y and z happened and he's like it's so nice to finally just hear a why
and i was like yeah you don't have to tell a machine why yeah you do have to tell a human
being yeah why this thing needs to happen
like we the underclasses basically the the working class will be willing to work for you
if you will just fucking talk to us yeah that was one of my big like i'm not in any systems
right now where i actually have someone in authority over me i mean other than must be
goddamn nice must be fucking nice like whether it was in church working for a pastor or in work
having bosses and corporations like
the big thing i was like if i don't agree with the why like fuck like i'll do the dumbest stuff
if i agree or you at least show me some humanity or if you could fucking give me a why give me some
why but it's like just like stupid things that come down from on high and are like this is what
you need to do now i'm like fucking brandon anderson survivor spoilers like a dick bag
oh no i i agree and i said to mikaela tonight at dinner because she was
at a hell of a time just i mean the school district here is in disarray but well you're only paying 87
for subs for a fucking
day's worth of work so
fuck off yeah I know
there have been times where I'm like I could sub nope
no you sure can't 87
if you have a teaching license I'd use 30
of that on lunch right
but I said to her
I said that I am
it's amazing how much more
willing we are to do
difficult work when we choose it
yeah I mean I think back to ministry
like ministry made me fucking
cry like every other night like it was hard
and I was I never
felt like I was good enough and I always felt
like I was failing in one way or another and like
whether I was an associate ministry
buddy right well that's true but like whether
I was
gonna take that to the source yeah
like whether I was the
associate pastor or I was in charge of
the whole thing and I was trying to hold it together and
trying to like do all this stuff
knowing
that or at the time
knowing I was called like knowing that this was
a thing I chose to do this
was a thing I wanted to be part of
I was willing to put up with all sorts
of bullshit I worked fucking 70 hours
my first year out of a week
my first year out of college because
I was like I love this thing I want
to do this thing I will work
myself to the bone
but here I'm like I will fucking
like clock in before I leave the house
and clock out when I get home
like I'm not say that on the
internet I don't fucking care like fine
they'll just they'll what are they
gonna do fire me
probably that's never happened
to me before I had I was a I was
the only person in my store who had the like
website and
the managers login info
for my clock when I was
urban outfitters and I would
the main reason I had it was because I would
show up at 7 and I would wait 15
minutes for the manager to get there yeah
so they would go in and
then eventually they were like I'll just give you the password
you can yeah and I would because I
would have to go shop for work but then I'd
be like I took my lunch break and they
eventually were like here's here's
the password to log in as a manager
change your punches
and I mean the fact that I didn't
take advantage of it take advantage
of it more than I did
well I had one until somebody else who
was more than I did
well I mean I did I was like
basically doing things but I
was like yeah I'm gonna I'm gonna
clock in when
I'm driving back from lunch
like things like that where it's like a few
minutes but if it was me now
yeah I'd be like
guys it's it's weird it's Wednesday
but I've already hit over
60 hours
the HR rep
recently was like yeah if you if you
don't take at least a 22 hour
break for lunch we will have
to go back in a minute or 22
minute break for lunch a long ass
lunch we will go like a whole day
we will go in and fix it and I was like okay so
I'm I'm setting a timer I will clock
out at lunch I will set a 22 minute timer
22
minutes I'm clocking back in I like
I don't care
yeah they don't care I
am replaceable yeah and I'm
in this weird space I've been like
reading and listening to a lot of stuff about like
labor history in America and it's amazing like the
difference between skilled and unskilled labor
and like the way that they organize
and I define that right
and I'm in a weird space where it's like it
takes months to learn
the shit that I'm trying to learn that I'm still
like I still have a lot I just talked about like not
being trained yeah still have a lot of shit to
learn but you can't just stick someone
and tell them to do my job yeah it's the
same for I mean you have years of labor
you have an actual like trade right like
we we have these like things like
traditional like the traditional yeah
contraction contract contractor trade
like we can't just be slotted into our
jobs yeah but at the same time if
somebody decided to fire us they'd
figure it out yeah oh yeah those because
they're all replaceable yeah we're all
fucking replaceable I was watching a
tick-tock of this woman who had been in
a job for over 20 years like 20 25 years
and she put in several months notice of
like her job for a job and she like
she's like I they waited till the last
month I'll train my replacement yeah do
all the right things yeah thanks gave
them over over a year 50 days before
she's supposed to be done and she's
They get a replacement and then they're asking her to train AI to do like part of her, of her job.
And like, she's like, no, I am morally against AI.
I am done.
I'm ready to go work at a garden center and teach kids how to like grow a garden.
Like I won't do this.
Like it's not my fault.
You wouldn't spend the time getting somebody else in here to do this.
I'm not going to do this.
And then they're like, so you're fired.
Fuck your pension or whatever.
Well, and she was like, uh, in the comments were like, this sounds like you need to quit
effective as soon as possible and then do like a contractor's fee.
And then if they want to pay you $500 an hour to do this shit, then that's fine.
Like it's a whole different thing.
But it's like, I have institutional knowledge that no one else here knows.
Like I, like when I leave, it's not just that.
So that was one, I saw another one last week that was like, I'm, I'm leaving my job and
they have to hire three people to do my job now because no one will do the amount of work
that I've done because I can do it as efficiently as I can because I've been here for so long
and know what to do.
They literally have to hire three people to do my job.
Yep.
It's like, that's, I don't know.
I don't know what the point of that story was, but.
I mean, it's so frustrating.
It's so frustrating that we feel like that we are in a place where it just seems inescapable
that we are non-important and that the next person above you is slightly more important
than you, but they're not important either.
And it goes up and up and up until you get to, I mean, like we were watching the recent
John Oliver where, and he talks about the Luigi, you know, killing the United Health
worker or CEO.
And it's like, that guy was, he was the CEO of United Health.
He wasn't even the CEO of, of like the whole thing.
Yeah.
And like the, the class above us is just so out of touch and, and, and can stick, can
afford to stay that way.
They can literally let people below them who are still fucking millionaires be murdered
and not worry.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They're like somebody was waiting for that promotion.
Yeah.
And so we, we, when he says what this guy says in his articles that, you know, like when
we're not actively working, we're passively consuming the spectacle that sustains the
work that we do.
So like the whole economy that we are fucking complaining about, we are passively sustaining
it when we're not actively working to make it happen.
Yeah.
We have to, we have to pay to exist.
Yeah.
Like just existing.
Yeah.
You can't just exist.
Yeah.
Like you have to take part in this, this economy.
In this society, in order to exist in the United States and most other countries, you
have to contribute.
Yeah.
Like you have, like, there's not a choice.
You can't just fuck off into the woods because you have to pay taxes on that, on those woods.
You have someone that show up, someone will show up and evict you from the woods or whatever,
you know, like we, we can't just like, we can't just fucking like opt out.
Like there's not, there's very few options for us.
We can't just opt out.
So we do have to play the fucking game and because we have to play the game, like I have
to, you know, in order to do my job, I have to like give up my time and give up my mental
health.
You're trading yourself.
You're, you're literally trading myself to somebody else for something else that I only
get a partial benefit off of.
Like I don't get the full benefit of my work.
Nobody does.
And it fucks with you.
Yeah.
Like it.
I know for a fact, if I quit my job today, my boss would have to fire somebody else.
Yeah.
Like there's not enough work to sustain the P the people who aren't contributing as much
as I am.
Yeah.
There's a, they can, and they can't do it.
I've got 10 years of experience on machines that nobody else has experience on.
And it's like, if, if I quit, somebody else has to go with me.
Do you have a non-compete cause?
Uh, I did.
I did sign one, but those are, those are void until.
Are they actually void now?
Cause I'm like, I don't know if it was, I know it was a little, a little bit of, a little
bit of, you know, working here.
You could just be like, I quit and then make your rounds and be like, here's my business
card.
I'm the guy who's been fixing all your shit.
Now you don't have to pay three other people for me to come fix your shit.
Yeah.
I do have a, I did, I did sign a non-compete, uh, when I first started.
Cause like, why would I want to start a fucking company?
Right.
Yeah.
I was the same way when I started there.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No big deal.
So yeah.
There's nothing to see here.
It's fine.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It, it, well, it's just, yeah.
So yeah.
So I, yeah, it is what it is.
Like if we all take part in this giant fucking thing that is a fucking corporation of existence,
it's, it's just connected corporations.
Like instead of turtles all the way down, it's corporations all the way down and like
you can't get out of it.
it there there is no there is no revolution
that actually ends up with us on top on like figuring this out and the the more that i like
learn about and read about revolutions and stuff like i the more i realize oh so like
even if you it just puts different people in it just puts different i mean as i've said for for
years now it's like it's animal farming the pigs end up playing poker like that's all it is it
during covid i still had to work yeah i did too like we worked through covid we had a we had a
a decent you mean you didn't just stay in your home and start a podcast no we had like that's
what all the celebrities did we still got a reasonable amount of pay for compared to some
people who didn't get anything but like but but i still worked throughout the majority of covid
yeah like i did too yeah we might have missed a week we we wore masks i missed
a week
yeah yeah right i did miss time because of covid thanks brandon andrews i didn't miss any time for
covid i had it during the summer it was great and that by that i mean it sucked because i was
teaching by then and i was i was sick when i could have been not working yeah i don't know
fuck i gotta pee god damn it josh this is your why don't why don't you just get your shit together
during the podcast let's just end this shit we can we can revisit the circus later yeah it's all
it's all fucking bullshit did we talk about the bread or the circus we'll talk about the other
one next week i don't know we had some bread earlier a lot of bread a lot of circus a little
bit of this a little bit of that are you not gonna go pee no wait no we can we can just get to
i refilled my beer because i thought i mean i'll refill my beer later but i gotta pee now
