I'm going to leave to the side and point, I think I have to start. I'm just absolutely putcha that. And the new guy, Kurt McDonald. I have been waiting all my life to hear that. Your weekly recap of all the action from the roar and around the A-League starts now. We're going to the A-League from a Queensland perspective to Scott. Alan, who's recording on this public holiday Monday. How are you? Good, thanks Scott. How is that? I'm very good enjoying the long weekend. Also, Adam, enjoying the long weekend as well? I am, but, too, after we can't have the long weekend as many of the moment, but, because it's politically correct to say, "Have you a Australia day?" But, yeah, we're protecting our. definitely will take the public holiday, but, so, we have a big weekend for football, which concluded this afternoon in Melbourne. We're also happy Australia day. It was a very big weekend of football here in Queensland, the A-League. Two games over the weekend. Plus, the match day one of the Pro's, it's been quite a busy weekend. It's a fast-knit Kurt. It certainly has. We've certainly started getting more and more football, which is all for us to talk about that. Yeah, the more football, the better I think, Scott. Certainly, as we all get into the match day one of the Pro's, there's later one in this show. We'll bring back the Queensland Football Show in a couple of weeks time once the A-League action does get underway, but, so, I'm happy we were getting contact with us. We'll jump straight in this week. We'll reverse things around. Normally, we go to A-League men's first, but with two A-League women's games, we'll right go through the week in chronological order, which means we'll start off with the A-League women's this week going back to the midweek game, which was a catch-up game against Melbourne's City on Tuesday night. A one-all draw against Melbourne's City here in this game. They did go down early in the game to Holly, Macamara from the penalty spot, but a late action on Miller Gold did give Brisbane a share of the spoils against the league leaders, which is quite a good result. It was a great result, too, when it was a huge week for the Royal Women's team in general, but it goes to show, too, that especially when on their home deck, they can be very dangerous. And yes, City did come out of the blocks. City will probably be the better side for the majority of the game. Let's be honest. But with Holly, Macamara again on the score sheet, you'd think, "Okay, I think this could be a. this would be the best of nights, too." But constant games there, where they've been in games and they've hung around long enough and they just nicknamed it an equalizer at the death. And this is another occasion of that, too. So it's a valuable, valuable point, especially what happened on Friday as well there, Adam. It is. And again, Melbourne's City did the league liars. They are for a reason they had been pretty much the standard there of the league in the last couple of years. So it was a very, very fighting effort from the Royal, especially given the middle game of a three game seven day run, where you thought maybe the fatigue would start to gather. Also as well, a very emotional win down in Melbourne, the week of Melbourne victory. So you thought that everything would get some sense. At a point in this, it was almost as good as a win if you want to talk about moral victories. But looking at the end of the day, points are points. And look, I think that they should go at that time. They will be very happy to take it that point. Yes, especially considering the fact that they had so many games as she would have dropped points, like thinking that Wellington game, for example, was great to get one, but from the rules, perspective going back to the other way. Ashton Millicoot, she has been really impressed as the last couple of weeks. Feels like she's now starting to really find her feet in the other group. It's not necessarily a slow start, but all these players take a bit of time to adapt to a new league. And it feels like she's starting to get her stride now. Yeah, and we've seen it with Chris Long too, that like he slowly started to adapt his playing style. And again, like I've mentioned this on the show before too, but especially when you're uprooting your lifestyle from the United States or the United Kingdom, coming out to Australia, playing in these temperatures where it's very, very hot weather. It's really a very happy for her, especially how she's really started to knuckle down, especially this last month. It hasn't just been this last couple of weeks. It's been nojfully a very, very big performance in this last month, especially, but yeah, like it was a fantastic equalizer that that certainly got them, like Adam said. It was a point, but it felt more the three points there because of the magnitude of the game too. We're pissed free warming Texas as well. We're not quite as warm at this time of year. As I've just seen over there this week, but it's snowing that part of the world now. But the warm temperatures out here, Adam. It was certainly a clear penalty wasn't it? The opening goal for Mel was not a lot of it's complained about that one. Yeah, look, I only peen. She did wrong for Amy Medwin, so stepped in and served, made the penalty not much. There's not much to be made as far as the controversy. It was a pen and fortunately for the roar as well, the penalty taker being Holly McNamara, probably one of the most lethal striker from Leed made absolutely no mistake. Just on actual Miller, just to support Kurtz point before. I also think that with the roar going to Australia back three, the return of Mariana Seidel in that sort of back three, I think Asal Miller is probably one of the more beneficiaries of that where she was playing a lot of games out in that left wingback role. Now she's playing further forward. She isn't a taker by definition. That's what she made her career on in college in the US for the Texas Longhorns in the NCAA. So she was getting further forward and actually seen her attacking Flaren. The shock that she unleashed while Melina probably made a bit of a meilder, Melina Meas. And yeah, I think the shock was too powerful and thinking a lot of keepers in the sleep probably would have struck even the shock. Certainly was a very good point. Kurt that front third now it's only really combined. So we'll talk about it more when we get to the camera game. But that front third is something really combined now. And given the roar of up in this three games and seven days stretch and also without three or four key players, the way that they are combining something really grow. It's all really all hands on deck approach at the moment isn't it? And you can really see that in terms of the fact that it's a very stable side as well as that combination play is so into Bill. Yeah, it would actually be very consistent side now about Alex Smith would actually put out. I don't think there'd be too many changes or too many surprises now on what his starting level will be, especially with, like Adam said, going to back three back five, whatever they want to call it. But now's a really, really good time for him to especially get into a final's position. Not only that too, but you've got the combination starting to tick over. And what's impressive too, like your touch on Scott, they've had some key injuries in some really awful times too. And you think, no, unfortunately, it's just going to get way. You can start playing a lot of like the squad players, the fringe players, but actually it's actually worked in their favor. They've played a lot more positive football and the vibe, especially when we've sort of been outside looking in, I think it's been actually more direct. So it's less touches on the ball going forward and especially with actual number two, the more touches on the ball that she gets, it's only going to enhance. So I think to like now is a time that you really don't want to be playing them all, especially after the last two games where you've taken points off the two best sides in the lead. Just imagine what that can happen when they go on the road. They've got some big games coming up too, central coasts coming up next. Like it's not the time to be playing the war, is it? Oh, it's not the time to be playing the war. And they are doing this with about 14 or 15 players, I mean, the most impressive thing is now transitions about the Amber game on Friday night is they have run over the top of teams in this three games in seven days straight. They've been able to find the energy to run over the top of teams, which is a great sign that when they do get back to a more normal schedule and maybe get a couple of players back, they will be able to really push on and make a chance to your home final. We'll see what does happen, but they were able to push on over the top of Canberra United by three goals to one on Friday night. That was a really good attack performance was that they've controlled large parts of this game. I know they could see it if you're opening goals. That's really the only thing Canberra had in Tyke. the rest of it was a very dominant performance from the Bruce and Rory and when they did get that second goal, there was only one winner from that. It was I think that's actually the most impressive aspect of it. There was always a fear that the Rory, I need to score first and try and sort of hang on, but they came out and even after that, after the Cambridge I think, go, look, let's us not pully punch, it was a gift, unfortunately, Chloe Lincoln's clearance was a very poor one which found Sophia Christopherson to love that. Top of the good finish as well for the young Canberra Ford, I think it was a lot to do, but after that, when you thought of the Raw, there was a threat that maybe the heads will go down and they're tired. It seems like if anything, the switch went up and yes, they only did score the equaliser, very late in the half, Daisy Brown, scoring a second of head, I think also very, very simple, so I've touched that as a great work by Ashlam Miller as well to make it two on one, but the second half, it was all Brisbane and look, this was a very, very good three points and I tell you what, they saw right away the vibe knowing that this was a very, very important win against the second place team as well. Canberra, you know, I'm going to do this. So this is a very important win, not only from the point aspect, also as well, I think the feel of it, I just say, I think this is their best performance of the season, by clearly best performance of the season, tacking wise as well. So it was a very, very tough stretch of seven days, but the fact that they five out of nine points and actually probably finishing stronger than Canberra who had a week's break. Look, I think it's everything that Alex fifth will have wanted guy coming out of coming out this run. You're taking the words out of my mouth. Not only that the three of us were thinking, oh yeah, like if they can nick one, get one on the break, get two nil, hold on, manage the game, like that will do, but it's actually worked that yes, they've conceded first both times this week, but the opposition really haven't gone on and put Brisbane away and has left the door wide open. And from there, especially on Friday night, like once the first one went in and then obviously the second one was from from Sean Fryer. The momentum that the women had, there was no stopping them, like Canberra all sorts of try and play out, didn't work, tried going long, didn't work again. It was like they were so hungry to put Canberra away after Canberra's opportunities when they didn't put them away early on, has come back to bite them in the you know what. So again, Adam, like you've hit it on the head too, arguably their best performance of the season. Now is the time to back it up and said, and do it again against the central coach who you could say that they're there for the taking, but it's not going to be an easy game down there as well because Nell teams know that the Raw actually on the fight, it's going to make it very, very difficult for them. I think also as well the big aspect defensively as well, obviously, best attacking performance, but defensively, this is where I think the Raw who run beaten in this calendar year so far run of five games, but it isn't the fence has been, there's been really, and I thought Leavalli's performance basically making Michelle Hayman, basically anonymous for mostly game models, a really, really good effort by just the rock of the fence, but Mary O'Sidell's well was very, very good. Joseph Stewart came in as well for Ava Piazza. These are very, very, very good performance. I think the one as well attacking wise, Shand Fry coming off the bench, the impact that she made, but Menden came with apparently she was feeling a bit ill on that morning, the white shows on the bench because the play like that probably shouldn't start on the bench, but it's even really a struggle genius almost because when she came on and that goal she scored, and you say, "Turtle, the momentum was pretty much one way from there, once Raw got in front, that would not go ahead in the end, they got that insurance third goal, nice finish for Benzi Johnson as well, he sees it then more time, sort of in the midfield then, she does up in up front, but look she goes around chasing the ball and that's what she want from you, I guess nominate them, nine if you call that. I understand why Jansson has to come back into me to get the ball too. I would like her to say as high as possible, to get more shots on goal. That's the only thing that I would say, but in saying that, if it's like it, she's playing as like a false nine where it's actually dragging it at a fender out, well then another player from the rule can actually run into space and that's probably what's happening there as well. So it could work both ways. We know that Benzi Johnson is a quality striker, we've seen it all this season too. I just wanted to see her play off the final defender, beat the defender and have a shot on goal and really trouble the goalkeeper, rather than coming back and then sort of wasting that presence that the tall presence that she brings as a centre forward. So look, the system at the moment too, it's certainly working. It's like we're just talking positive things about it too, but let's just hope they continue bringing in the points especially this coming try to. I think they've really found something the last couple of weeks haven't they would bend he and to maybe slightly dropping off that front there, but then running out of midfield at other defense as well where there is space for to operate working with Ashisl Miller and the life to really create those opportunities for players like Daisy Brown who's got a couple of goals now, which is great to see as well, her getting more or consistent running that front. We also ultimately went individual just away that midfield as well. Tish Woods and Momai Hay actually three times, 90 minutes in the engine room and they were sensational in all three games. They were really impressive as well, but Adam and also I think it's not 12 points for all have got this year from losing positions within game. So they are able to get results when they are not when they do fall behind. So I guess everyone remembers the Wellington game because the one stay out time it went against them, but 12 points of losing positions that could really make a big difference at the end of the season. I think it can and it just speaks to the character of this team and they never give up. It is a bit like the men will talk about that in their game shortly, but yeah, that one game where they did sort of kind of capitulate a little bit against Wellington. Maybe that's a surge or a reminder, but yeah, the fact that they do come back, especially in circumstances this week, I think it shows the character of this team. There's something very very special about this team, especially all the injuries as well. I think just so linking to what Kurt was saying as well about why Betty Answering probably does sort of drift into midfield lot more. I'm sure that Alex Smith probably didn't draw this up a back end September because obviously we never play like a Tamiki Yelp, we never grace Quilamo. That's a Tamiki Yelts roll. She is the one that would travel between the lines almost, but with her going, it's similar to the bento mod I've stepped up and all they've been asked to step up and do the job. And then when you play a young five Daisy Brown, Asha Miller's son to get more forward as well. So again, it's probably I'm being done on the fly. I think a lot of this. I think again, when you take out a grace Quilamo, when you take out, we take out Tamiki Yelp, we take out Zara Kruger as well in that midfield. I'm sure that the any best-low plans back in September October pretty much got thrown out the minute, the media probably the injury reports came in. So look, I think it's also well-added patient, which I think is a very, very good character about the squad. And I guess Kurt, having a pretty quiet late November, early December, Dickey, Alex, with a bit of time to work on those things, didn't it? Yeah, exactly. It's just going to Gladden's point there. Like if there was one person you can probably trust to do that role, it's probably the experience of Ben Seyant. We've seen that whenever those injuries have gone down the. yes, like they certainly have hurt the war at crucial times, but especially that Wellington game too, like. It was one of those games too when you thought they got two one in front, two one in front, you thought, okay, we just need a third here just to really kill the game off. They were still very, very good for the live patches in that game too. It was just that being that clinical in front of goal, having that composure, being clinical, you just can't give teams like time like that too to get back in a game. And yes, it was a very, very lucky equalizer, which probably didn't deserve the role, but that was sort of the platform. The foundation was built in that game to start on this run that they've had now. Very good week for the Brisbane run. In the Alegamins, player of the year votes from the Melbourne City Game 3 votes for Kyle Stephenson, two, Fashlin Miller and one for Mary Ann Ascidall. And for the women's game from under-cambram from James, three for Ben Teyantz and two for Sharm Fry and one for Ashlin Miller. That is the two games recapped for the Alegamins. Look now at the other results from round 14 in the competition, West Sydney Wanderers 2, central coast 1, Melbourne City 2, Perth Blurry Nill, Wellington 3, Adley Nill and a Nill Lill draw between Melbourne, Victorian Sydney Ascidall. I believe you are off-cold that West Sydney Central Coastal Alt Lasbites, they will be a game to watch and could the Wonders recap their overpeat their performance from against Brisbane while they certainly did. They certainly did like that was what I have minimally seen the highlights of that too, but again momentum especially in this lead too, it is a big big thing especially now. Wonders have actually got a fantastic win there against the Central Coast and now the Mariners have got to face an in-for-roll which they do not want to add this stage. And Adam you have to say that was the most surprising result of the weekend do you think? Yes I think so I think West Sydney again there is a team at the moment that I think they put good efforts in patches I think they are still a bit away from putting a 90 minute performance in but look I think it is a very positive three points for West Sydney Central Coast will feel a little bit unlucky there that they could have put it away. They they covered a Brisbane this week and look it is a big game because that is the top four clash but also as well, well into Phoenix they got the win over Adelaide United they move up to second and we have Gagen Han as well they are just as dangerous. I think the form line is sort of holding up between those two sides head for their clash in well into later in the year. Top three have got Gagen Hanes welcome. Exactly right with that win too by the Wanderers that push but obviously they are a team that we are very tricky to play near. It is not going to be a give me wherever you play them home in a way at this point too but Wellington with their win have pushed Adelaide United out of the top six which we have seen Adelaide United play quite regularly this season and they are tough side to really beat and how they are sitting where they are sitting at the moment is a bit of a head scratch in it. Especially and you could even say that we are sitting Fc. Those two clubs especially when they are out of the top six that is huge for the ball and they have really going to take these opportunities and really cement their position not only in the top six but the top four. With the Gagen Hanes as well for the Brisbane who are having a Gagen Hanes as well as their advice out of the way they are in a great spot but look at that table. I don't think I have ever seen it this close you have got three teams, four teams on 18 points and you can only see on 17 and two more on 16. So over half of the competition there are two points between them that is incredibly tight. Yes Melbourne City look like they might be running away with the premiership once again but after that the rest of the finals positions it looks like it is almost pick a name out of our hat stuff. Well given that Newcastle and I am mokily aware it doesn't work like this because there are other results but when Newcastle can go on top of Wellington second spot with one win that just shows how tight it is. Just to say you know it is just going to make it point before I really interrupt and just go out and try to. They are problems are pretty clear. They can't score goals. Seven of 11 Gagen to season they have finished scores. That is just which is a long way behind the second most goals in Western City Wonders on 11 and you know I know it neatly that's a problem right there they cannot score goals as the most so I don't know how untay you fixed that fixed that I think that's pretty pretty clearly where the issue is and they are there five points drift. I would like to say we are Western City Wonders and what they are capable of at their best. I tell you what they are sending we want to be careful they don't fish off the wooden spoon because given a soda or a team at Mage 20 that made every grand made every final series up until last season to the Federal wooden spoon that would be just unbelievable. I think it is whirlwind for them. We want to make a bold prediction now that their cross town rivals could actually jump them in weeks to come like it's certainly possible. Absolutely. I'm going to keep going keep not scoring goals. It's absolutely entirely possible. They have the third best defense in the competition Sydney FC so defensively they are very very impressive just as you said in that front third they're not scoring any goals in the V to play as they brought in to this point they're just not delivering for that is absolutely that problem. Now they've played 11 games like it's time to get a rig along to their credit. They are only six points out. So a win even if it's a one-year win it will still keep them within reach but things have to move around quickly because they've only won two games to the 11 games that they play. So they've got to start turning some of those draws in the wins very very quickly. - In their game February 5th against the Raw, I think that's a huge game. It's a big game. - That could be very, very detrimental to Sydney too because if Raw win that back, could that be the final now on the coffin, especially for an anti-Urrich? - It could be for the season for Sydney SC. That's what they'll be banking on. - Correct. You know how fickle Sydney FC are with managers too when they don't do well. They looked at chains them very, very quickly. This could be something so that has anti-Urrich gone around a season too much or too many. - Very, very good coach, I recall Adam. You still always say you never bet against an anti-Urrich side, but at the moment they're just not what they used to be at the moment. Sydney SC will see if they can restore themselves to where they were over the next month or so. But at the moment, still looking potentially back to back years, missing the finals. Brisbane up in third spot and in a very good position to qualify for finals, but every game at the moment in the other equivalents is very much stinks and light as in terms of you moving up and down the table. So we'll see how it all does shake out. We'll move now to the A league men's who've written Raw in action on Saturday afternoon at Cycle Stadium against Adelaide United. Three, two win for the visiting Adelaide United. Brody Birkett putting his name up in lights here didn't he hurt with a sensational second half atrick completely changing the game. Brisbane all over Adelaide in that first half. Couple of changes early in the second half of Adelaide. He came on in. You can only just tip your cap to what he in that Adelaide side. That was a remarkable second half fight back. - Exactly right. We heard it in the press conference too with Michael Velkane as that it was almost criminal that they went into the break at one meal. That flakad Adelaide to be honest because they played them off the park to leave Adelaide in the game to only chase down one goal. Look, that's a game there that really shouldn't have, should not have gotten away from the Raw and they'll still be keeping themselves. But like you said, take a head off to Young Birkett. So his goals, his positioning for such a young player, it was perfect from the cutbacks that he was, he made his timing, the timing of the runs, was absolutely spot on. And the header, yes, like some, I've heard some say it was Stroker Genius, some lucky look. He got it on target. He had the conference to do it especially when he had a double on the day. But Adam, you'd have to say it's certainly three points at a drop. Now, once again, the men have got to do some soul searching. Yeah, it is. It's probably three points dropped if they take the chances in the first half. That's what it comes down to. I think a lot of fans as well, I think they see us that this is an opportunity lost. They probably should have been over the hill far away at the break. That's the difference between the good teams and the league at the moment and the average teams is that they're the good job. Take your opportunities. And look, it's also said that the second half-fight back, Madelaide was very, very good. But it makes you question what I, allowing them to be able to get a run on like that. It just seems as on that the early second half as well. The Raw let them get back into the game. So instead of, yeah, that smash mouth up in your face. So the fans, they see the backing off a little bit. I'm not sure why. And look at Madelaide and play. I think that when the game went very transitional and the end game, I think the Raw struggle a little bit. I think they're not built for that. I think they're built for the grind. I think they're built for a very, very tough, in the trenches fight. And look at the end of the day, I had soft young, very bucket. I came in with a very, very good record in MPL South Australia. And look at yourself from Anton and Rollie's face as well with a lot of these young players. A lot of these young players coming through their MPL team. He's doing, he's in their long time MPL coach for getting the opportunity to coach the senior men's team after Calvary Sparcher. So a lot of these players are coming through. I, I, I, his, I, his products. So I hope you're very, very proud. And you can tell how pretty what's talking about about Brody Blossom as well, not getting carried away as well. well, so naming the next Superstar, I love that. Now, I realize he still has a long way to go to be a professional, but you're not going to get bad day then on the 23rd of January, 2026 for him. Hard to top that in his career, why not? In terms of the second appearance, for in the senior career, the hat trick and a perfect hat trick as well, left foot, right foot and the head of the finish it off as well. 11 goals in 17 matches for their MPL side. So they jaw point out and that is how good he was in the MPL. You know, Adelaide, I've been the gold standard of bringing players through their academy system. It's through their MPL into the A league and then having them really flourish and thrive and move on into overseas leagues beyond that. And then you're just something that Bruce Mnostyne's doing a bit now. We play like Emmett Shore, Noah Mayer, only when Mick Nichol Jackson, O'Reilly, on the bench as well. It's starting to happen a bit for the world, but Adelaide been doing it for so long and this is the sort of result you can get from that. It was great to see from their perspective from a Bruce Mnostyne perspective. It was actually a really good performance from them in terms of the first half in particular. It was probably Chris Long's best game so far for the Raw. He had so much involvement in that first half in terms of trading, space, trading opportunities for himself was great to see him get that goal from open play as well to really reward him for that performance. There was a lot to like about the way the Raw went about things particularly in the first half wasn't there? Oh, absolutely. You can say that with Marco Rousse as well that the work rate from the front two were superb. It's just one of those days where it just didn't go in the back of the net. I remember there was a shop that Long had there that's come off both posts and somehow didn't cross the line. Again, if that goes in, Claren makes it 2-0. That's very difficult for Adelaide to come back on. That's 2-0's a very, very different score one to one there. The first half, yeah, spot on, like it was fantastic. Adelaide to their credit, changed it up. They took off De Morales and Eric and they brought on Yovanovich and Birkett which changed the game and then you take your hat off to Eirton there as well to the coach of Adelaide United. He saw an opportunity to change it. He made the opportunity and gave him 45 minutes whilst other managers in this league would use the front two maybe another 10-15 minutes and that magic numbers at 60 minutes, they start pulling them off but it was a ballsy move especially. You made four stops before the 60 minute mark. In fact, it emptied the bench by about the 65 minutes. So again, he's got courage. He courage on the fire. On this day, it worked. Like Adam said, the first half, the front two had some chances that they wish they had pardoned me. They could have taken it. The way that you're not in a way playing, they're trying to play out a lot, trying to keep it within themselves. It was very risky especially with a couple of young players who at the back two that you would fancy that if you would press them, that they could give the ball up. But to their credit, they actually did very, very well. They got out of some opportunities there which we were sitting where was seeing going. They should not have got mad at that press but they found a way and they stuck with it and they went to half time, one year down. It was quite a remarkable fight back from Adelaide United. One other thing that came out of Nick Degas, he didn't make use of return to the Royal Coming Off bench. Only played 15 to 20 minutes or so but there's a lot more to come from him. Absolutely. And look, according to Mark of our canister needs, press prophecy, he was never going to get more than 15 minutes. He's just not physically and fitness staying yet. So look, expect more from him. But he plays, I think it's going to be very, very easy. He links up with that parent attack guy with the Mocka Roo's Justin Vittich. Yeah, Henry Hor is in that group as well. How he puts himself in there with a plays in nine. Plays in 10 Chris Long of course as well as part of that. And I think that's going to be because I think that's the one area. I think at the moment where I think the Rooney to prove. That's the end there. Final third again. I've certainly missed the mention what a game is saying. Clyde had back the back. I probably play the match for forms of for the Royal. I thought he is just. He grows an arm and a leg almost every time. And he's obviously got a bit of confidence. Very, very well taken goal. He's good of Josh Smith's saved that. Look at the end of the day who cares. It goes in. So you got to take that you got to take those opportunities when they come to Sam Coindead. But I think you have the moment. I think that just to speak about Adelaide. I think that yeah, the fact that they went all in and it completely changed the script as far as how they attacked on that to very very big units in React and El Salmo up run to go with a more mobile sort of front line in in Dukeley and Berkett and second half. Western weather. Where the role may be reacting a little bit too late on that. I think that's a so what's custom. Fretty one thing Mark that I can't say to you is post game press conference wasn't it curvy the reaction to not the halftime changes. The early in the second half. Wellington up at KO, which that was probably their pro-their worst forms of the season. Auckland were very, very good. And then this was a fighting effort. I'm not going to say lucky, it's not the right work, but I guess a fortunate win for Adelaide at home, they took their chances to the Royal didn't. Let's just hope the crowds keep on coming up, coming out. And they said that it is entertaining. I think if you take the raw cap off and you'd be objective about that, I think it was a great game football. So I think hopefully that people sort of do, so take the orange, kind of glasses off and actually see, look, this is a good air time and hopefully next time at some court stadium, they can break 10 there. Obviously next time game is back at KO against the central coach, Mariners, but I do believe it might be Sydney that's there in mid February that's hopefully that can be a 10,000 plus. And I think beside David, I think you can't ever question the epic of the role. That's one thing for both teams. You should never ever question that. And I think at the end of the day, that's all you want. Yeah, next time back at Sunkel, it was actually first floor at the end of February. So it's quite a way between home games at Sunkel, where you mentioned the game at Dolphin in a couple of weeks time and at central coach, but also away games against Newcastle, Melbourne, Victory and Sydney SC between now and then and those games could almost shape season in the way for the raw. It couldn't be in terms of the way that things are at the moment. All these away games that are in the next month are really crucial. Exactly right. It just goes to show too that they're probably at least deserved a point from this game, leaving with none. Now puts a lot of pressure going to Newcastle away and sadly, they're involved, especially after, especially after the demolitions job that they put on. On Friday evening, which that's unlike a Wellington Phoenix performance day two. So look, if the raw, the raw are just sitting there, there are about some finals at the moment too. We know that they're about a side than that. They need to start winning some games on the road because it's not happening at home. They've got to do it on the road in which statistically that's that's very hard to do. Isn't that a great show, but I think it goes back to a point before. They have become known for, I know it's the most pretty football watch, I'd get that. But again, you don't win this league by pre-performing. I think being away from home three of the next four rounds, I think at least allows them to go back to what they do best. So the ESO is to play that type defensive football, especially against sides that against a U-class, especially who've got actually bit of a bit of form as far as going on, scoring goals, to shut them down and then subjokes and grind out a win. So I think the fact that another away game coming up and another run of away games, I think actually might be a good thing for the raw, but you're right, it's that three points gone from Friday night. That's going to really put the pressure on the next month and I said, the margin for error, where on three occasions, they could have been top of the league or at least equal top. So five of the last seven games at Suncourt Stadium. So if they do need points at the back end, that's a great base to which to do. So we're clearly looking at that. MacArthur with a massive win at home. West Sydney getting the fabled new coaches bounce there and then victory with a one matter hat trick of assist. So quite an entertaining weekend in the A-Leaks. Yeah, exactly right. It's hard to pick a result of the week because the wonder is upsetting her. That's a massive, massive result for them. MacArthur putting 6 past Melbourne City, that doesn't happen. I mean, like, when you, MacArthur were starting to make their run up the table and they certainly have done now, and they're the team you do not want to be playing at this point. Auckland, a little inconsistent at this point. I do not know how they had dropped points, especially to the Mariners away. I'm sorry, at home, especially there at the equalizing goal, which we watched it in the boxes at some call and we were scratching our heads going, that's just, how does that happen? And that's just the luck that they're in at the moment too, but they've played some good football to this point to state that they are still the best side in the league. So why an interesting match day one of the pros, it was both in terms of, it's the first chapter I was seeing, got to see these teams lining up in competitive games, but also some good football which you could attest to as well, Kurt. - Yeah, absolutely, for us, we be the Scotty McNickel come back there and Roachdale Rovers, and Scotty will have that team fighting for 90 minutes. They're a very, very good side, and on the day, they were just a little bit unlucky too, with some shots there that they could have had, if they had their time again, they probably could have done better too, but again, this was a game too that we were very happy to take the points, and there's a good performance by us too, for the majority of the game. Just want to make note too that, probably the most surprising result of the round two was Brisbane Rule one, North Star two. That's a big effort there by North Star, and Mark Will's to get a result on the road there against the Brisbane Royal Adam. - It is truthly known that Royal Deplay for 10 are for most of that game, or at least half, with Evan, if I agree, where I'll be set off, but look, still, with 10 men, a very, very big effort by North Star, which probably might by shake up that group there a little bit, but they also as well, and you know, it's coming, but more than city's getting off the floor as well. Mark has walted with his back scoring a double. Young Garcy set for us here as well with a North Star as well, so any thoughts of a slow start after a very, very long campaign last season for North and city, at least it off to a positive start with a big win over Kabocha. - Right, that's more so biased from you, Pierre, before you go, I've got to jump in here one thing, there's enough financial power, and more to the Excel, so I'll go for a couple minutes here. I just want to mention the two sides, Kurt, who got promoted out of FQPL two into FQPL one, this year making their debut at this level. Both got wins at the weekend. North Star, we should have mentioned, maybe the Brisbane Raw, and also Rebeena went to Redlands, which is not an easy place to go at the best of time. So these two sides stepping up, if you think the two teams coming into FQPL one are going to be easy beats, potentially dropping back down, think again, 'cause that's two really good results for those two sides on debut at this level. - Exactly right. Now how this, how the finals will work for this too, like you've got to come out of the blocks and get wins on the board. Not only that too, you've actually got to score some goals to stay in the hunt, because like we said, the group winners will go through and the top two second place getters will go through, and that's it. So you've really got to be crucial with wins too. And like Adam said, with Morton City coming out of the blocks to in a five-one win, like Mark has doing what he does best, scoring goals, and young Darcy Sartre singer with a double there in late and dumb, the new recruit on the score sheet too. So that's a very, very comprehensive win there for Morton City. They'll be very, very difficult to beat. Not only just in the Capapro series, but of course the NPL series as well there, Adam. The Fending Premiers, I think they really do. A bit of rebuilding as well for a couple of losses, but as I said, a very long season, but look how I grew as Scott's point. I said, no, no star and Robina. Really make FQPL one. If it wasn't, absolute night match, try and predict now their early form might make it even a bigger hand at try and for us to formulate our latter predictions in the couple weeks time. Which we will do on our Queensland football show, season predictions for the NPL men and women Kurt is the best. is he's out. We're okay to do that anyway. But good to see you are officially ruling yourself out of putting yourself on the line for the predictions. You are not getting out of you are still doing your predictions. We know you're going to put Morton City first and that's okay, but we'll get to our predictions on that show in a couple of weeks. But it's fine. Bro James into this as well too. I'll note for the pro series in pool lane, you've got the Brisbane strikers, Brisbane Raw Clash on Friday night, which is always a quite a tasty one between those two sides and the fans alone. I think they've all had an A-League women's game on Friday night, which might take away from that a little bit. Who will be does have the two group winners Sunshine Coast against potential power. That's a pretty important game there for both of those two sides. Who will see East playing at home for the first time as well as Logan trying to get back to back wins if Logan can be magic that could set them up to go through in that group. Who will D has these showdowns in Brisbane City and Morton City Excelsior and given both have big wins at the weekend. That's a pretty important game. We're being also also Olympic on East and Matchday 5 at home and group ESO and group F sees the all MPL clash between Lions and Winham Walls. But I guess in terms of games to watch for the weekend, you want to focus on that Brisbane City Morton City clash. I was going to say as well that game also as well is up in Bunderburg. So that's all I was interjecting about. That is a very crucial group game. Winner of that goes through I think that's pretty much a certain if it's a draw. We'll have to go to week three. So look at it to be a very interesting game there. But look at strikers at Brisbane Royal as well. It's always a very very interesting contest as well. As a pity that it does clash with the with the League Women's game over at Spencer Park. And to your point, Kurt, these games you have to win them, don't you? You can't really worry about draws of playing 23 players. If this is a trophy as a club that you've got an eye on, you absolutely have to come out of the gates and win these games because with only three group stage games and one guaranteed spot, you can't take anything for granted. Absolutely not too. I've heard a lot of press there saying, especially that they expect a number of these established MPL sides to win their group too. And it's probably the best time to actually get these MPL sides when they haven't started clicking, when they haven't formed their partnerships. It's probably the most ideal time to actually get them. And especially we've got our game against the Sunshine Press Wanderers as well too. Like again, the Wanderers especially at home, it's certainly not going to be an easy task. The Fodder and I traffic getting up there, I get to 730 kickoff. So, it's absolutely. There's a lot of things through that you've got to take into consideration. But that's why we've got to play the games, don't we, Adam? Because it's one of those things where it can win like this, can actually set you up for MPL round one. Absolutely, this is these are pre-seeding games. But with the Tetra Trafford and the line, it really is really important to go for good start, especially round one. That's where it all begins. Yes, early February, round one of the MPL Queen's Day kicking off, and as always, we will have our Queen's Day football show out every Monday morning, if you listen to, with those results all season long. Quickly a couple of new stories we're going to get to here before we get to the weekend preview. In the Oshane, probably Queen's Day, Max McLeod, Dickett on the score sheet, forced South Melbourne, and it's PNG side over the weekends. I congratulate us to him. I think South Melbourne and Auckland FC are already firming up as the likely finalists in that after the opening round of matches. But also the FIFA series was confirmed over the weekend, over the last week. So, Cameroon and Sydney and Curacao and Melbourne are the two matches for the Sockers in their final home games before the World Cup. So, a couple of intriguing opponents there. And that's what this FIFA series is about, isn't it? It gives, it just creates intriguing matchups all around the world. And I think Australia has got a couple of pretty good opponents here to test themselves. Maybe not necessarily the level people might like, but two contrasting styles, which going into a World Cup. Maybe they haven't seen too much of. So, that's not a bad, not about the preparation for Tony Poppich in his last window. Yeah, absolutely. The ball games that they get under their belt before they're on the plane to the World Cup, the better it'll be, and especially for Tony Poppich, who I would say probably doesn't know his best team at the moment. So, this is another opportunity for a lot of these fringe players. This is their chance for addition to not only getting the squad for the matchday, but actually get into the starting level. So, it's a massive two games there in Sydney and in Melbourne. So, the players that do come in have certainly got to be ready to go because spots will be on the line there, Adam. I will be again, a bit of a bit of a bit of a, I guess I, you know, with some of these in form, over from players overseas, that Jordy Boss was very, very good against Feynord. Jackson Ervoy, Rhyme Gry just came back to the memories. It's still big injuries. So, that that match window is going to be so important for players like Amit Schu, Nick Degas, Tino, Daniel Azani, of all come back to the A-League's chasing opportunity to get there. They need to be good form in the A-League to get, get to get to pull that series, good on a good performance third, to potentially get to get to the World Cup, get a death sign. This is the last chance these two games. So, it's a bit, a bit unfortunate that I think someone's supporters saying, oh, you can't really clear your pal. Oh, good point, them on the map. Okay, it's football. You know, at the end of the day, you know, it's football, it's international football. It's a send-off in base. I think at the end of the day, it's more important that there's the soccer ruse. They fought, they find their best 26 to go to North America. Yeah, and I think the experimentation is now done. What we see picked for that squad down there in the FIFA series in March, we're very, very telling because some of these questions that you mentioned is Arne and Nick is Dacastino and the mix, etc. We'll start to get real clear answers on that because players who are not picked in this squad, they will be very, very unlikely to be in the World Cup squad unless they're in drastically changed. It's given they've already experimented and I think it's time now to lock down a team. Two other quick news stories, you can choose to talk about either one of these that you choose. Marcus for Kranis has officially joined Avandale FC in the MPL Victoria. So, another Queenslander going down there to that lead to compete in the NPL South Queensland. Also, Alan Stadjich has been confirmed as leaving the West Sydney Wonders. We were speculating heavily on that last week. Gavre and Eggman has been named the interim to the end of the season and that gets us to his job to try and turn that club around on the men side, which are those stories. Do you want to talk about? Look, first and foremost, we don't, we never want to see any, any people lose their jobs and football. It's a very cup throw. Cup throw world that we've seen managers are the seas, managers in Australia to lose their jobs for a lot less. Alan Stadjich, like he's, and he was honoured today too for who serves as a football too. So congratulations to Alan there, but again, it just didn't work for him at the Western City Wonders. It doesn't say he's a bad coach. We had the Western City Wonders up at Aj-Kelly Park or too long ago too and they put on an excellent performance. Yes, it was against NPL side too, but they were excellent that night. They were very clinical. And look, we wish nothing but the very best there to Alan and hopefully he lends these feet very soon at him. But again, with Marcus Ferenerckis joining Avondale too, it's not a bad club to actually land it. Look just on the, yeah, I'll stage the departure. Looked at Dindale. There's not much more I can add to that. There's more at meets the eye. There's something really wrong with that club at the moment. I'm not so saying that it was all search as fault because we know we're good coaches, but hopefully that's the first step for them for that club to take the right steps forward because you need a strong with City Wonders. It's for the league, not only to prop up that rivalry against Sydney as well, but just in general, they've got some good passion for fans and you'll want to see them there. The fairness and cheer with the way they're clumsy and running. That's no good for anybody. Oh Marcus Ferenerckis, look, we didn't see very, very much of him over two years, one half years here at the roar, but look, there's going to be a player in him. He was a USA youth international So I guess it didn't happen to Raw. Hopefully he didn't need at least do something and everyone thought maybe make his way back in the professional game. Maybe it's what he needed was take a step back to two steps forward. So we wish him well and unfortunately didn't really work out at the Raw for last 18 months or so. No, he didn't work out for the Raw. We wish him all the best down there in Victoria and to your point, go about it not working out for our stage at the Wanderers or nothing has worked there really since the Tony pop of each other needs to as we said last week. Need a sort of identity issue for them. We're not going to go through all the transfers this week, but we'll tell you what has happened. I'm a Daniel Blair is in at Central Coast Mariner's Adam Pavlovich Alexi Heridi's and James Heridi's have all moved on Dan Alzani and Marcus Schooners in on loan at Melbourne City Harrison Delbridge has moved on or has joined as well quite true and heavily linked to a move to it to MLS with New York City. Well, I think we really have a bit more and most confirming that on the coverage on Saturday, Stephen Colockowski is back in at Perth Glory Ryan Frazier is in at the Western City Wanderers and we might recap those moves fully once the transfer window does conclude in a couple weeks. I'm a couple of very, very intriguing moves there for the second half of the A.L.I.L.I.C. season. We can preview now for the A.L.I.L.I.C. Women's Friday night at home once again against the Central Coast Mariner's seven PM over at Spencer Park. They've got a pretty good record against the Central Coast Mariner's although they just lose on New Year's Eve. This is a really crucial opportunity for the May 3rd successive home game. If they can get the points in this game and make it seven out of nine at home, it could be really, really crucial for them, particularly given how we said earlier how tight the table is. Yeah, absolutely. This is a game too that women certainly need to knuckle down and really get the three points. And also to speak, I don't want to speak too much about the previous result through the three to lost in the Deal at Polytechnic Stadium but that was a game again and they shouldn't have dropped points. And again it was some careless, careless offending and careless errors that actually got the Mariner's back into it. But this is a great opportunity to get the Mariner's when they're not one of their consistent best but be to continue their fine home form and to really put this Mariner's side away early so they can really focus on getting up the table and submitting that three points. It gave more for the Royal Mariner's so they're a very, very good team on their day. They did loads of lessons, definitely for us, not some absolutely tore the Royal heart in the second half on the year's end. So they've got the girl watched that but look again defensively since that game the Royal have really served putting a verb for five very, very good efforts. So that's like it's time lucky as well. That's the last time the Royal did lose was on the year's end. So hopefully history won't repeat and look I don't think it will I think that they the Royal are in good form. I think they finally found themselves defensively. It's now it's just a matter of I gave the tech clicking. I think if they can even do half what they did against Canberra I think it should be a good night's at-sars fence park on Friday night. It should be very good night's fence park on Friday night and this was the game actually where the Royal did lose a couple of those players that game on New New Zealand. It was I think that was Grace Kiela Moonsire Krueger who went down in that game. So a massive opportunity here for the Brisbane Royal on Friday night. Other games from round 15 Adelaide against Melbourne City City as see hosting the Wanderers, Canberra against Melbourne Victory and Newcastle against Melbourne with Perth having the buy. There's a lot a very, very even table but I guess all eyes will be on that clash between the bottom two to see if the Wanderers can climb over the top of their their near and not so do your names because if they can that would be a massive story. Oh wouldn't it ever that's if it's an opportunity to actually get see me this is probably not a bad time to get them. With the Wanderers upsetting as Mariners last week like they have got to be absolutely confident going to this game too that A) that they're cross-town rivals like Adam touched on before they're not scoring goals. Defentably they're not too bad either too but it's a worrying sign there for Fc that when they've only scored was at eight goals throughout the season that's a very clear last from from second last so that's going to be a very, very intriguing game too. Look I want to actually touch on Canberra United and the victory. Like that's again canberra need to bounce back and bounce back quickly against a Jeff Hopkins side through that. Boys like I don't I didn't expect the victory his victory side to be where they are at this point so look it's certainly going to be that I think for me that's going to be the most intriguing game of the of the rounds they canery and iadon and the Melbourne victory there Adam. They do but they the city Derby as well to first half of the double head of that one that games at Aliens stadium so that's going to be very very especially if Western City Wanderers this is probably if there's if there's any time better and I know they have beaten they have beaten Sidney and the star being the past but if there's a better time they get them there's no better than this but look again also as well Newcastle Jetson Wellington on Sunday as well Wellington day are chasing back-to-back wins away from home the first time in forever so I guess the Newcastle side that look they're a hard one to read Newcastle they are they're probably the self-incassion of inconsistent at the moment they're very very good or not so good and look well to be definitely looking to definitely looking to get another bottle three points away from home. Every game you know the government's at the moment it is very very important given the state of the table is that Newcastle I've been in in the Nigma they are very difficult to get a read on speaking of Newcastle and being in a Nigma at around 15 of the Aliens competition Saturday 4 p.m. Queensland time Newcastle playing host to the Brisbane Raw Kurt I've no idea what to expect out of this game it's last time they played Brisbane played them off the park and it was a really dominant performance but it was clearly at a point where Newcastle had hit a flat spot will we see more of that will we see Newcastle's high-flip performances at home can you want it to a really tough game to get a read on this one. It wouldn't surprise me if the ball come out when this game 4 or 5 nil because that that's just typical of this leg you there is no guarantees in this leg at the moment like it's and this game in particular it could be a toss to coin like and in all honesty all three results are actually you can have a a point in saying that all three results are actually very very possible so Adam like oh look I'll always tip the the raw here and maybe maybe a two one a two one win I they've they've had success down there in the past but again to like Newcastle somehow a sitting seconds in this lead after turning it around like Scott touched on when we last saw them at the Sunshine Coast so good luck picking this one. I can go top with the winners results go their way as well. They can and this is again this is a game that is good it's going to come down the first half an hour I think that it's you can't recite form will suggest that this game will go this way it is going to be played on the day whoever takes their opportunities whoever whoever capitalise our opportunities and we're actually more important who shows up I think this is going to be resolved and I think this is what the league is all about right now I don't think as many games you can actually say head on heart oh the form line will suggest this is going to be the result and it to come down that way it really is the case of who shows up and the raw need a bounce back I think that the absolutely stinging after letting Adelaide sort of get through a home a way game where they can tighten up the fence you know maybe serve your play a little bit more sort of you know a little bit more defensively and a little bit more self-calculating I think that made me suited them after after sort of slipping three goals and and on last Friday night. So what happens I've got naughty what's going to happen in that game or set they down there in Newcastle other games around 15 Wellington playing host to Melbourne City Adelaide against MacArthur you've got the Sydney Derby between SC and the Wanderers Perth playing host to Auckland SC and Central Coast against Victory Kurt I guess the Derby is probably the most intriguing game of the week and but I'm also half intrigued to see how Auckland go at what would be about midnight for them New Zealand time against Perth because that's a very tricky one for them but all those will be on that Derby. Yeah I'm actually going to throw Adelaide and MacArthur in there too. Let's see let's see if Adelaide can back it up after their win over the wall. this previous week against a MacArthur side, you could say it's absolutely flying at the moment. So I, for a many point of view too, I'd certainly be looking at the money there too for, you can see how that falls there too. But look, it's certainly going to be a very, very tough road trip there for Brooklyn, going out of the Perth. And again, if the Domino's fall, there I say it, the Newcastle Jets could be leading his competition. Yeah, the distance to Darby as well. Nice 9-hour flight for Auckland FC across to Perth. It gets a personal W's singing after losing to West Sydney Wonders. Look, Sydney Darby as well. Obviously that's looking, never can look away from the Sydney Darby number, where the teams are on the ladder. It's going to be interesting whether it will be blue or red by the end of the night there. I think that's going to be a very intriguing game. A game two for Gov Edmond in his interim jetties. And Sydney at the moment, they'll be smiting after a big loss in the big lose today, as we recorded. It's got a fogging just interrupt there too. I believe that's a double header of Sydney Darby on Saturday. So that will be a very, very good day. Not that would promote Sydney to get it to get out there too, but I think that actually a very, very good days football there at Aliens to get out there and watch two very, very intriguing games. Hopefully the Sydney public do get out there and do that. Well, I mentioned you Perth Auckland game because it actually was a win for Perth last year overall.
