2026-27 NHL Season Preview

The show delivers a comprehensive season preview of the NHL, analyzing each team’s offseason moves, roster depth, and potential for success. The Anaheim Ducks surprise fans by naming veteran Kelli Grandland captain, signaling a shift toward stability. The Buffalo Sabers are seen as a team with promise but major defensive and depth issues, despite strategic trades. The Florida Panthers emerge as a top contender due to a stacked lineup, though their goal-tending remains a concern. The Detroit Red Wings are in disarray, with expectations that trading Dylan Larkin will spark a rebuild. The Toronto Maple Leafs’ aggressive spending raises questions about sustainability, especially with their goaltending. The New Jersey Devils stand out as a breakout team, having made smart, impactful signings like Anthony Mantha and Luke Hughes, offering strong depth and playoff potential. Throughout, the discussion highlights the unpredictability of the league, where even strong rosters can falter due to injuries, coaching changes, or poor execution. The hosts emphasize that while some teams like the Devils are poised to succeed, others remain in uncertain or rebuilding phases, underscoring the unpredictable nature of the NHL season. The show concludes with a blend of optimism and caution, reflecting on how teams balance risk and investment in a volatile environment.

(upbeat music) - It is Wednesday, September 23rd in the United States, and Canada, my name is David Bean. This is a show called What Chaos. It's a side-heat blackburn and holding it down. I did, oh, it's the last time when the Sports Interaction Studio. We're gonna stay in this studio, which is not gonna be called that going forward. Shout out Sports Interaction. We love you, but that's where we are in Boston. Sean's in the city of Champs. What up, Sean? - Hey, howdy, hey. Do you know what week it is? - Uh, yes. - It's the Ides of September. - Yeah. - Sure. - I mean, well, first off, it's Bill's Chargers week, but more importantly, it's Nickel City Jersey week. - Oh, it is. - Buster is in the history of the sport, I know. - Yeah. - Don't you worry. When we do our final prize picks today, we'll be talking about that game, because guess who I think will perform very well on Sunday. - Josh Allen, I agree. But also, that's got the biggest trap game written all over the world. - No, it doesn't. - My Buffalo Bills. - No, it doesn't. - Exactly. - I don't know if the Chargers do trap games. Like, I think that the players do the victim to trap games. - Yeah. - They are not trap areas. - Yeah. - Bill's, Bill's, Bill's, Bill's followed victim to trap games from tied in the time, but I guess we'll see. - Damn, season, the chat, I did not expect this. - They caught it. - The chat has clocked. We have new lighting in the studio. - Yeah. - Our friend Spike really, really helped us out with the new lighting for the new season. And chats like something's different here. Boys look illuminated. - Yeah. - It's a very distracting, sorry. - Yeah, that's okay. Well, chat also noticed that. - It's this that we put away is a list of the hockeystats.com playoff probabilities, but it is fully read because our computer-- - I was gonna say. - Our computer has run out of black games. So now it just prints everything that's supposed to be black as red. - Grab it. - He sent me is a lot bluer. - Is that like a dog printer maybe? Don't dogs only see in like-- - Think it's bulls. - Is that bulls? - You have not. - I don't care. - Every appliance that isn't working properly to a dog in this studio, you say. - You famously have called our coffeinator a bad dog. - Oh, it's a bad dog when it stopped working, yeah. - Maybe that's where you got all that pissing on the floor inspiration. Maybe that's why whenever anything is bad, they've pissed or shit on the floor. We're doing a season preview today. So we're talking about every team. So we're gonna minimize the fucking round kind of. What's on the show today, Pete? - Today on the show, let us discuss New Captain. Who's the New Captain? - There's a New Captain in Anaheim. - And the answer might surprise you. - Yes. - It's the Kell Grandland of all people. We'll discuss that. We're gonna talk about Old Jersey that is now New Jersey, but not in the state of New Jersey. It's in the state of the province of Alberta, right? That's where Calgary is. - Calgary is in Alberta. - Nice, okay. - Geography podcast. - Whole battle about it, whole battle about it. - What's old is new again in Calgary. We'll also discuss our season preview. We're gonna go at length across the league, 32 teams, teams we like, teams we don't like, things like that. And then finally, do they ever get traded? - Yeah, that's gonna be built into the season preview. When we talk about the Redwings and we talk about the Jets, I'm going to ask, like, so do we just kind of proceed? - Right, I think as this is happening, I think we're proceeding. Carnival buck will not be there. Let's figure something out. - Yeah, so Redwings is just gonna be like that plus Emmett Finichad. Get excited for it. Let's run down though, some of the exciting things that have happened. I was like a sicko yesterday. I had my wonderful Bose open ears on while I was grocery shopping last night because I needed to listen to a fucking Boston Bruins Philadelphia Flyers preseason game. Last night was the night that Pete and I, you, I'm giving you credit for it because you texted it like, this is, I am like, I'm back. - Are cycles aligned. - Yeah, I am watching hockey tonight. I'm taking all of it in and I was like, dude, fucking same, get me to 8pm so I can watch my small goalie. He looked good and so I can watch, I coward. We don't have time to talk about it. Yeah, man, that was a fucking night of preseason hockey and I loved it. - Yeah, I'm willing to say the season has officially begun because last night I sat down on my couch, I ordered food and I just ate a disgusting amount of food while watching hockey and I did not give a single fuck that it was preseason. I was just very excited that it was on TV. - I also watched preseason hockey. Not the sabers though, 'cause it wasn't televised, so I also watched Bruins Flyers. - Oh, okay. You didn't catch any Devon Levi? - No. He was, after that, I put on Dodger's Padres after that. - Baseball guy. I can't even tell if Devon Levi plays well. He's, he just looks so good that I can't, I can't pay attention to his physically. - Yeah, he looks, those pads look even better on the ice. - Exactly what happened to Sabers fans? - You just got fucking rombuses moving around there is so, it's a beautiful sight. And granted, like, stew is like better face and everything. That part was already taken care of, but in terms of how it all looks, I'm on the Levi train. I kind of have to be, don't like my other options. - That's very fair. - Sean. - I thought you had something to do. - It sounded like Sean was about to, it sounded like Sean was about to burst my gum. - Yeah, burst your gum. - I mean, it's, I said it. It's, this is what happened to Sabers fans. He got sick like brown throwback looking pads and he would do the Star Wars meditation thing in between whistles and everyone was like, that guy has to be awesome. And then he wasn't that awesome. I'm rooting for him though. People forgot it's harder to play in the NHL than in the NHL. If only they were, if only they carried four goalies last year, definitely if I would have been so. - I do, like, at some point, maybe on a slow news day, we should look into the, the kind of, the ups and downs of, or the correlation between what a goalie looks like and how cool they look versus how good of a goalie they are. 'Cause I feel like sometimes-- - It's called profiling, by the way. - Not my kind of profiling, the kind of goal tender that needs to look good visually like past the eye test is not always the same goal tender who's like, I'll just let my play speak for itself. - Yeah, like what do you make it up for? - Yeah, right, overcompensating perhaps. - Exactly, there you go. Profiling and overcompensating that I told you nothing was changing with what chaos. The Calgary Flames, as I can't remember if we discussed this on the show, but-- - Probably not, 'cause you started with the Calgary Flames. - Yes, knew this was happening. They kind of just like, threw it out last night. They're bringing back the O4 jersey. - Yeah. - Just for an alternate. - For four games, yeah. - And I think it's to honor the final season of the Saddle Dome. - Yes. - Which is kind of cool. Like I think that is the worst version of what the Calgary Flames were. I was very, very happy when they switched to the current primaries. But in honor of the final season at the Saddle Dome, I do respect that. And it's also very cool that I saw somebody post that like, Michele Backland has been in Calgary for so long that his, the jersey that he came into league for is now a throwback jersey. - He can buy his own jersey with a Mitchell and Nest tag on the bottom of it. - Yeah, that's really cool. In other Michele news, Michele Grandland is now the captain of the Anaheim Ducks. And I didn't see that coming, but I also didn't see Radco Goudus being the captain of the Ducks coming. So they've got a type. - And good for him. - Happy for him. - Well, I mean, they've got a type in the sense that their type is like a little unexpected. - Unexpected older guy who's not going to be there forever. Grandland's not as old as Goudus was, but like, free agent signing who's not going to be there forever. He's got two years left on his deal. - Yeah. I think if they gave it to say Leo Carlson right now, it would just be too noisy and too crazy. - Yeah, I mean, they're doing like the bridge deal, bridge captain deal. - Yes. - Let's find an adult in the room and give it to him. - Yeah. - Do you think there's like enough, obviously one of them gets paid more, but do you think there's enough of like a standout for them to name any one of the young guys captain? - I would guess it would be Carlson. I mean, you can't. I know that like you don't let the AAV determine who's your captain, but it seems by giving him that AAV and agreeing to it. That's your, the face of your franchise. That's the future of your team. I would imagine it would be Leo Carlson. - I don't know. Yeah. Okay. Is that everything for the grab ass and stuff we have? - There was Swiss hockey, I don't know if that was for you. - Oh, yeah. Okay, let's take a look at the, what are they called? They are called the - Burger shooters or something? - Burger squarers, maybe? - The Skorer Kings, I believe. - Skorer Kings, yes. - Yeah, there's a hockey team in the Swiss league that just has Burger King burgers as their helmet. I would love to get one of those on set. - That is ridiculous. I mean, I famously-- - Pete's not a Burger King guy. - Burger King guy. I think that most people are not Burger King people because Burger King had to make commercials being like, "Listen, we know that we've had a history of being asked. We're working on it." I don't like the Swiss league having a humiliation ritual for their best players or their most prolific scorers. Like, you're doing the best? Cool, where this dumb ass hat. - Burger King did do the fun thing. Maybe this is like 10 years ago or something. Remember what they did with their chicken sandwich? - No. - They were like, we have chicken sandwiches. We like gay people. Come by our chicken sandwich. And for the month of July, some of this is gonna go to a gay thing for all you know. We'll release one gay hostage for every chicken sandwich you buy. They really thought they were doing, they were like, "Hey, we are on the right side of the sexuality chicken wars." And in fact, it just left a lot of people, including me. Like, that was a waging war against Chick-fil-A. - Yes. - Correct, yeah. - Oh, okay. I didn't put that together. - Who do you think that would reach war against? - No, nobody. I thought that's just the most 2020 thing ever being like, "Hey, not only is our food good, by the way." - We get it. - We get it. - I mean, if they did that, so like that is the shit I like. Because ultimately, if it's raising any money, like I make fun of Taylor Swift all the time. You see yesterday, she announced a new single. And she's selling three versions of the single, a regular version, an acoustic version, and a piano version. And you can buy the CD single with, each one has each version. Famously, compact discs cannot hold three songs. You can't fit that all onto one that you sell somebody. So you gotta sell three versions of the same thing. This is the first time she's ever done anything like that. So I think we should give her a little grace here. - Somewhere Travis Kelsey just yields. That's my wife. - Yeah. - Look, I mean, if you're gonna be a bear, be a grizzly, if you're gonna be a billionaire, be a fucking billionaire. So whatever, no ethical consumption of their capitalism. But I was going to say, when Taylor Swift for the. - Oh yeah, how did you not hit the sounds like a cash grab? - Yeah. - Well, I mean, you know Travis Kelsey just got, was a victim of a Ponzi scheme, too, right? - Yeah, true. Probably trying to get a little bit of money back. - Bork Founding Me. - It is a cash grab. - Yeah. - Thanks to somebody tricked Travis Kelsey. - I don't believe it. - I liked that song. You need to calm down. And I liked the music video, which was very, I just found out what gay is. And a lot of people gave her shit for that. Do you remember? - Yeah, yeah. - They were like, oh, so now Taylor Swift is like, like, gay rights. - She's like a year or two behind on all the popular trends. - And honestly, you know what she did that after? - Fucking Maclamore. So anyway, everyone was giving her shit for that. And I was like, you know what? Ultimately, cash that fucking check, you know? Like a meaning like the earth. If the biggest pop star is yelling like, hey, I like gay rights, ultimately that's going, that's gonna be a good thing. It's gonna teach kids stuff even if she's late, even if it's whatever, like, I'm never mad that Taylor Swift's doing that shit. The three singles. - That's fine. - All right, that's all for the preseason preview. - I did want to suggest, if I'm hamburger helper, I'm getting on the phone with the Swiss league and I'm like, what if we make a helmet for the league leader and assists? - Yes. - Because if you got burger helmet and then you got hamburger helper, I feel like that works. That's a real way to kind of get in there and make it about you. Coford hamburger helper. - That is more of, yeah, that is more of, but and they have apples and the kids meals now. - Hmm. - Good point. - Burger King, hamburger helper. - We're talking about a bidding war here. This is really good for the Swiss league. - Yes, really good. - And this is, that's, Swiss league is where Jeff is, right? - Yeah. - Jeff's hurt right now. - I don't know. - So there's like one Swiss league, but now I have to pray that I don't know if I'm praying that Jeff Skinner does or does not lead the league in goals. So that he has, come on. - Jeff Skinner wearing a hamburger hat would be funny. - What negative is there to post NHL, Jeff Skinner wearing, I was gonna call him Stuart Skinner. Jeff Skinner wearing a burger King helmet. That'd be awesome. - You're valid. - Yeah, I just gotta say, stew outlasting Jeff in the NHL isn't something that's not how that works. - And stew being like possibly the most beloved player in the NHL. We'll get to that when we get to the Jets preview, but we're gonna go alphabetical order through each division. We're gonna start with the Atlantic. Let's begin with the Boston Bruins. Last season, the story for the Bruins was Charlie McAvoy getting hit in the face a million times. This season, they were an improved team coming off a playoff run that nobody thinks can make the playoffs. Let's dig in. - Yeah, I mean, I can't even be offended by it. Like I understand where it came from. Nobody expected the Bruins to make the playoffs last year. Congratulations to them, they did it. - That's my coach. - Super weird year for the Eastern Conference, any Atlantic, so I understand and not expecting them to replicate that, but on paper, this should be a better team than last year. - Yeah, I like what they did in the off season a lot because I didn't think that I don't feel that they were like, we made the playoffs, therefore our time is now. They made sense, it's kind of a cliche, but they did the stuff that works now and in the future. Will Borgon, I like, is it get that defense improves? They also got Connor Clifton back, who I forgot about until I watched or listened to, I should say, their preseason game last night, but the big ad is J.J. Paturka. Now they've got three players, and it's a team that doesn't have great centers, but maybe James Hagen's in his first NHL season can prove to be something. But now they have three, I would say, really good wingers in David Posternock, Morgan Geeky and Casey Middlestat. I kid. J.J. Paturka, like they, they've just added, they didn't get worse. Yeah, I think that they've got, the thing that I like most about their forward group is how much flexibility is there? Like they've got a lot of guys who can play on both sides, including Paturka. They've got guys who can play center if they need them to fill in. But they have a lot of flexibility, and they added speed, which they needed to. They added scoring touch, which they needed to. I do believe in Fraser Mitten taking a step. I do believe in James Hagen's taking a step. So I'm pretty excited about the direction of this team. I just don't know, if at the end of the day, they're gonna be good enough to make a big enough jump to get into the playoffs. Yeah, I don't think they're making the playoffs. But I do like the shuffle of out Arvidson into first round picking a draft that it turns out everybody hated and in J.J. Paturka at his contract. Yeah, yeah. Like I don't think they're gonna, and I love to Arvidson with the Bruins. That was so fun. But that was like, that was a big, this is an awesome unicorn year. And I think it's a like, oh, cool. Look how good it is having a solid second-line winger who scores a bunch of goals. Let's lock into having that. And the way to lock into having that is getting someone who you know is that versus committing to somebody who did it once. And Arvidson's had good years in the NHL but like where he is in his career right now, I would way, way, way prefer J.J. Paturka even coming off a kind of ordinary year in Utah. But honestly, like if that's his ordinary year, like if he comes in here and he has a, quote unquote, disappointing 25 goal season, like I still think the Bruins take that. It's not easy to go out and get a guy who's like, kind of lower floor is like 25 goals. Assuming that he stays healthy. So regardless of whether or not J.J. Paturka takes like a big leap this year, I think they're gonna take the 25 goals that they get for him. I was reminded last night, you know my goals, David Poschenek scored last year? - I have no idea, like 44. Brother, he scored 29 goals last year. - Oh my God. - Yeah, I mean, he had 100 points. He like, he was a playmaker last year because they didn't have a lot of those guys. He needs to score like 40, 50 goals this year. - Yeah, well he'll be the captain, maybe according to Tottenham Hotspur. Last thing I want to shout out with the Bruins is Jonas Corpusallo being traded to the Rangers. So they could keep Michael D. Paturka for themselves. I like that move a lot. You saw Sebastian Kosa get moved. You saw Devon Levi get moved. These teams that have a NHL ready young Goli, who's been good in the NHL, actually not. And yeah, Kosa was good in the NHL. Levi had his moments. The Bruins I think could have been, I mean, they just experienced the brand and Bussi thing and I think they were terrified of it happening again. So I like them holding on to him for themselves and finding out, like, if Corpus Sallow stays-- a good NHL gold tender. Cool. We already have one of the best goalies in the league. Yeah. I mean, I think it started before Busy, but I do think that there is a wave of thinking, kind of spreading across the NHL that you shouldn't pay big money for gold tenders. Yeah. And if you've got a guy who you're unsure about or think is worth taking a flyer on for low money, do not let that guy walk out the door and go to a different team. So, well, that will be brought up again for some other teams that we talk about. But I do think that that is a new wave of thinking. Okay. Detroit Red Wings. Or I should do Buffalo Sabers last season. I was fired there. Oh, I apologize. I have so many notes in front of me right now. It's disgusting. Last season, the Buffalo Sabers fired their GM and made the playoffs despite Colton Preco hating their cities pizza. This season, the Buffalo Sabers are the team that has arrived. And dare I say, got a little cocky in the off season. Hell will swagger to them. Yeah. I mean, I think they moved a little. I would say confidently. Well, I mean, I think that they moved strategically and logically. They moved strategically and logically, but and I love the Sabers. I wouldn't say they were out there doing fucking helicopters with it. No, they weren't doing helicopters with it. It's a good clarification that you make. It's a we need to make the distinction, but Sean, can you do a lower third? Being in Blackburn agree. The Sabers weren't doing helicopters with it. They made a lot of decisions that I think we would all make and that in a vacuum, we like, but as they were happening, I felt like I was kind of raining on the parade because like, hey, right decision to not give Alex Tuck 10 and a half, $11 million a year, right decision to move on from Bowen Byram. If he's like, I'm going to get out of here this first chance, I get right decision to do a lot of these things. And I looked at them. And each one made them worse. Yeah. So like that. I mean, on, why don't Kesselring too? On one hand, you give them credit for like, I feel like over committing to the guys that they already had in the room and like, just doing these bad deals so they don't get worse would have been a very Buffalo Sabers thing to do to be like, oh my God, we made the playoffs. We had a good season. We can't take a step backwards. We got to just extend these guys no matter what or keep these guys no matter what. They didn't do that. And I respect them for it. But at the end of the day, regardless of whether or not you think those moves were smart, they are a worst team on paper. Yeah. Sean, how do you feel? Yeah. I mean, I, I think it's the same thing that the Sabers have been doing for years where they're putting a lot of reliance on their young players taking a step. And that is massively bitten them in the ass in years prior. But I think the difference this time is that you have seen with at least a couple like with Helen News and Austin in the playoffs. Like you saw that they maybe can actually be good NHL players. So maybe slightly less of a projection or like a finger cross and hoping than in past years. But I don't know. It's still in what they'll always be the Buffalo Sabers thing, which means like I was saying, what the, the bills and the chargers earlier, they're always bound to disappoint there. It's always on the table. So I think they're kind of in a situation that you've put on a couple of teams where like, honestly, anywhere one through way, they're not going to surprise me. I got to ask you, Sean number one, do you feel like the culture has changed? Like was last night, last year enough for you to feel like the culture has changed? It sounds like the answer might be no based off of the threat that the Buffalo Sabers are always the Buffalo Sabers. Oh, yeah, no, they, I think the culture has changed, but it's, it's still like, there's too much trauma with in me as a Buffalo sports fan to ever completely take it off the table that things can collapse. I mean, like I, they're still like obvious flaws with the team. They're, I guess, on paper worse defensively, they're goal-tending. Last year, I think, was an anomaly, like how good it was during the regular season. I don't think, again, on paper, Boca Peca-Lukinan, Colt Nellis and Alex Lion should have resulted in that many good results. So I don't know, it, it is definitely on the table for them to discipline. It depends on what your expectations, if you're expecting them to win the division again, I think they're probably going to disappoint you. I think they're going to make the playoffs. Do we all think they're going to make the playoffs? If you're asking me to choose whether or not they do, I will say yes, but I would not be surprised if they don't. Okay, while they, while they are not doing helicopters with it famously, are they doing helicopter? Are they going to get cop, if you will, Connor Hellebuck? That's still on the table. And if they do, how much does it change the equation? For me, I'll say again, I'm staying away if I'm the sabers. And by the way, we're doing like 33 minutes on the teams that we like. And the other ones, we're going to, we'll do just a second. Good pacing. Yeah. Sean, hell. I think they're going to, do I think they're going to get Hellebuck? Probably not at this point. Do you want him? Yeah, I still do. It just as, as always, has been depends on the cost. I think they're not deep enough, they don't have enough scoring depth at this point to even give up someone like Jack Quinn without their offense, taking like a potentially a pretty massive hit in any of the other young guys. I really have no interest in giving up. So I don't, it depends on what other, what the rest of their plan is, I guess in in the future years, like how they're going to acquire more scoring like depth, I guess. I think the biggest thing to watch with the sabers this year and we'll move on after this. I know that the young forwards are very exciting, but what is that defense going to be like behind the big three? Behind Zellweger and Krabi Power, behind Rasmus Dalline. What's Krabi going to be? What's Zellweger going to be? Because if those guys are good, then this team is still fucking awesome. And they were awesome last year. The Detroit Redwings were not last year. They missed the playoffs again, possibly because they were tied up in lawsuits with X Zamboni drivers. This year, they've got the worst chances of making the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, but they do have the aforementioned Victor Arvidson. 15 seconds, Pete, what do we think about the Detroit Redwings? I keyed. That ought to do it. Victor Arvidson, just that'll solve all their problems. No, I mean, I think they were all probably presuming we're in agreement that the the Redwings are in a very precarious spot heading into the season, not expecting a whole lot from them. I don't like their back end beyond the top pair of Edvinson and Moseider, but I don't know, I'd love to be proven wrong. I want the fucking Redwings to be good. But I want them also to get rid of Dylan Lark and be done with that and then start a new flip to a new page. And I just don't think that new page really truly starts this year until they trade Dylan Larkin. We are all pulling for the Detroit Redwings to get better. And it sucks that they were a mushy middle team that seems to be moving in the other direction. Yeah, right. Like they got worse. And I'm not saying like you needed to throw a bag at Patrick Kane or anything, but they did get worse. Even I was looking the other day, I was like, can't they just bring back JVR or something? Like JVR is out there. But I think that I would rather, I think that I would rather have the Redwings find out what they've got for younger players. Really make it a rebuild. Yeah, rather than just trying to patch this thing together, like they've continued to do. Like I'm very interested in Nate Danielson and what he can be like he had to flash his last shot. I was like, Oh, this is like a hell of a player. If he can be something like Marco Casper, I want to find out like truly what he is. I need to see more out of Lucas Raymond from on a consistent basis. Axel Sandin Pelica, I think could be a really awesome piece on their back end. So like I I'm glad they're not clogging arteries with old bodies in finding out what what they've got on the bigger picture. Okay. As predicted on what chaos last season, kind of the Florida Panthers took a fallow year missing the playoffs, resting up and as predicted on what chaos trading for Brady Kochuk in the summer, this season they look like the most automatic scary monsters. Oh, my Christ, who is going to beat this team other than their goal tending Jacob Markstrom and or Akira Schmid. That's the Florida Panthers. Are you as scared of the Florida Panthers if you're the rest of the NHL as I am because I really look at them. And yes, their goal tending is a big question, but that team, which also added Radco-Gutus, and they made some other like did they lost Mackie Samuskevich, but they did it to bring in Brady Kochuk. I don't get how that team loses a playoff series. I mean, a lot would have to go wrong, but a lot did go wrong last year. That's an old team with a lot of mileage on its body. One thing went wrong and they decided it's fallow your time. I think a lot of that was yeah, barcoff went down. They were like everybody else. Everybody else got hurt. I don't think they made up a bunch of injuries. I think a lot of injuries happened and they were like, well, this may as well just be packed in. I think that several things went wrong last year, but the biggest of all was barcoff. That was the first one that happened. Having him back gets them back to being a contender. Obviously that lineup is fucking stacked. I, I'm not like crowning them in pre-season, but yeah, I think there's every reason to be extremely scared of them. It, the goal-tening doesn't necessarily scare me as much as everybody saying, well, they can't win because they don't have goal-tening. I think that it's probably not going to be marks drum. They'll find somebody else behind him. Yeah, no, I'm never an, I'm an oilers fan, but I never look at a team that has questions as goal at goalie and says like, okay, well, that's why they'll lose. You can win with mid goal-tending, you can win with bad goal-tending even. I mean, I know that he was playing well until there, but the Vegas Golden Knights made it to game six of the Stanley Cup Final last year, I believe, with the worst goal-tending performance in the history of the Stanley Cup Final. Okay, so yeah, I mean, like he was got better through the first three rounds. Like I was okay, he was good in the first three rounds, saying like in the Cup Final, he was the worst anyone's ever been. No, I've ever been. And they still kind of almost won the Stanley Cup. Kind of almost. Yeah, I mean, six games. And the year before that, a team that literally didn't know what it was doing with its goalies made it to game six of the Stanley Cup Final. Yeah, but what I'm saying is that like having Jacob Marksroom probably events you from getting, if Jacob Marksroom is your guy that's going to prevent you from getting to the Stanley Cup Final in the first place. Fair, fair. Last season, the Montreal Canadiens were a playoff team, even though Maple Leaf CEO Keith Pally was sure they would suck. So the surprise team of the NHL, that was still one of my favorite things. It's so funny. It's like, nobody saw this coming when we, what? Well, yeah, nobody saw Montreal, like, you know, these teams come out of nowhere. Yes, after coming out of nowhere, the Montreal Canadiens are back. I will say, I've said this before, I think they overachieved in each of the last two years. And I don't, I think it's worth noting, but I don't really care about it. They overachieved, but I don't hold it against them. Yes, like you want that that is the goal with everything to overachieve. Like you want to talk about the 2007 giants overachieved. You know what they got to do? When the Super Bowl, they got to win the Super Bowl, which is the fucking goal. I would much rather over, I mean, we overachieved every day by fucking being here. We overachieved by going back to our wonderful partners, Sean. I know just meant like being alive. We overachieved. I told you, my friend Phil, back in the day, watched an episode of New Girl, and this was season one. And he was like, I can't watch the show. It's too unbelievable. She'd be dead. She would be dead. Jessica Day would be dead in the street. Right. Like she would, she would not make it up to whatever floor that loft was. She wouldn't die it on the way up. They started off that character as being so stupid. Oh, man. Good show though. Great. You know, I love the Canadians. I know that you love them more than anybody in the world, but I love them. I love that they have mostly stayed out of any sort of gold tender conversations. I think that they're doing the right thing by riding Jakob Dobej and Montenbo and Cam Fowler, like, not Cam Fowler, not Jacob Fowler. Yeah. We're going to talk about Cam Fowler later on. Yeah. I think that Cam Fowler has had a bit of a resurgence, but I would not put him in that. I'm going to shoot my ward right now. Uh oh. I'm in on the fucking blues. So like, let's just talk really quickly until we can get to their division because I'm in on the blues this year. Are you in on the Canadians? I'm in on the Canadians has like a fun experience, but I don't know like we talked with Max Venout and like, there are concerns about the Canadians. I think there's a lot of question marks. It's the center depth first and foremost. Like, if anything happens to Nick Suzuki, Max talked about it. Like, that team might be fucked. Yeah. Might be fucked. Like, there's also a lot of questions about like, what elements of the Canadians season last year is are repeatable. Like, is Nick Suzuki going to win the selky again? Like, is Cole Caulfield going to score 50 goals again? I think the both of those things are very plausible. I think that there are those types of players, not in anomaly, but there are question marks as to whether or not they can reach those ceilings again. Uh, like, can Rhinebacker stay healthy? The answer to that has already been proven. No. Uh, or what is Rhinebacker? Right. So like, I think there are a lot of question marks. Like, are they going to be big game hunting throughout the season? Like, Karel Marchenko has been linked to them. What does it take to get him and what can he, how much can he elevate them if he gets there? Questions like that. I don't think we fully know what the Canadians are right now, but there's a lot of reason to be excited about them again. Talk about them big game hunting and I brought this up. I think last week with Max and I know that Crosby Chad is always met with a, well, yeah, that's a huge if because he's not getting traded, et cetera, et cetera. I think of what they ran into in the conference final last year when, again, they overachieved by being there and that's great. I think that the Sabers ultimately were the better team than the Canadians last year, but Canadians win. That's what you, you don't want to be the better team. You want to be the team that goes farther. And I think that what they ran into against Carolina was a team so much deeper than them. That was just like, you know, we can do this in four games. We can do this in five. However long you want this to take, we'll just do that. And I think that right now the same thing might happen. You add a Marchenko or especially, if you add a Crosby to this team, I think you get into the like possible top three cup favorite conversation. You talk about how big a fall off it would be if their best center got hurt. But what if you had another awesome center? Then I think the, I think you are back into the, like right there at the top conversations. I want, right, no, Ryan O'Reilly, just talk about it. That'd be fun. Like, yeah, I think that this is one of those teams where you look at their roster right now and you say they don't have center depth. That's very scary, but it's one of those problems that can be corrected. I also wonder if you remember the Canadians last year were the team that won every fucking dramatic game. They had so many dramatic games. They had so many one goal wins at what point does that kind of even out too? Like did they win every one goal game this year? And what happens if the pendulum swings so far that they actually underachieve, which I cannot envision for that team? I can't imagine he will be in like, oh man, cold coffee old's really snake bitten right now. It happens to everybody. It does 20% lash. And if anybody were do the pendulum swinging that way, it would be the Canadians, but I haven't seen it happen before. So I'm counting on them being really good again this season. Last year, the senators put out a statement and a fan put out a statement and the internet was really mad at senators reporters for asking Brady Kachuk questions about White House stuff. And that was the senators year. This year, the senators don't have Brady Kachuk anymore, but they did win the William Ecklen sweepstakes, which is William Ecklen, the internet had decided was going to get traded. Now he's on the senators. So that's something. The podcast that did that, I, I'm rooting for the senators this year is my quick thing. I am rooting for the senators. And I also think that the senators are going to be better this year than they were last year. I would fucking love that. And I think that people will probably get carried away with addition by subtraction. No, I don't think they're going to get carried away with that. I truly believe that like, no, no, they will be kind of one thing. The one thing that is more unifying than a common goal is a common enemy. And everybody in that locker room should fucking hate Brady Kachuk. And I think that they will hold a grudge the entire season. And I think that that team is going to be better. I also think that that team deserve to be better in terms of the results they got last year like goal tending sank them for a majority of the year. I would not be surprised if they got better goal tending and better results for a larger portion of this season. Yeah, I mean, they are a team that have players in that like 25, 26-ish age range that will be a year better. So while we've all been looking at the bubbling Brady Kachuk situation, it's possible that unbeknownst to all of us that team was actually improving and guys were getting their 10,000 hours in. Yeah, I really liked the the Eklund get for them. I think that him being more of like a featured player, which would probably be like, he'll be the star of the second line, something like that. I think that he can be something really good in Ottawa. Last year, the Tampa Bay Lightning, let me think, was last year the Cooper who were the centers press conference. Last year John Cooper was charming and one coach of the year as Sean thought he should have. This year, they are what? They are trying to take, they haven't gone anywhere and elevate it to, they are back to where they once were. That was off the dome and it was sloppy. But I think that when I look at the lightning, I'm like, yeah, lightning aren't going anywhere. And it's what I've said about them my last like four years. This year, I think that they'd like, well, this is year two of Gensel there who's been awesome. Yeah, year, they've got kind of questions with the headman of it all. Just very top heavy. Yeah, I just, I just don't see them ever actually like getting bad and sinking out of that picture. Like they were still right there last year. - Yeah, I mean like it's weird 'cause I feel like they can't play the nobody believes in us card because they're too good to count out but they're not good enough to be, like they're in like the weird upper to middle class and mushy middle where they're too good to miss the playoffs but not good enough to, or not reinforced enough to go all the way and be like a serious, serious contender. That's kind of the way that I view them right now. - Can I say who? - Also doesn't help that Vasilevsky has been an ass in the playoffs. - Right, can I say one of my-- - One of my good rough. Can I say one of my favorite moves of the off season? John Carlson's Tampa Bay Lightning that it was coupled with Darren Radish to play ya. Now they needed to get rid of Darren Radish and in hindsight Darren Radish's contract famously does not look horrible, but I think that John Carlson is still awesome. And I loved him for the ducks. I think that the capitals who seem like they're really trying to go like all in for the end of Ovechkin, I think they're gonna be moments of season where they're like damn, which we still had John Carlson, but I think that Carlson is a really sensible and good get for the lightning and call it boring. I just don't think they're gonna go anywhere. And I think that every year about the lightning. - Yeah, I mean, I have to give them the chance. - And granted, I've been the one that's pushed back every year when you or other people had been really high on the lightning going into the playoffs. I always believe in the lightning, but I have to give them the chance. - Like they chance to be bad? - Or to be good. - No, to be good, because they have so many pillars that I think are fucking awesome, but I also like, I'm not going to, I'm not gonna buy their stock. - Yeah. - You know, like if we're doing stock talk again, I'm not gonna buy their stock because it is elevated by this stock. - Of course. - Yeah, we've been correct on that. It's they just kind of have that reputation that they're just always gonna be around. - Okay, I have been most excited to get to the end of the Atlantic division because T comes last of the Atlantic letters. Last season, Austin Matthews of the Toronto May beliefs for a freaky sex sweater. Willie Neilander gave the finger and their coach, whom they'd later fired, might have been kicked by a horse this year. An extremely busy offseason makes them one of the most intriguing question marks in the league. I will remind folks that this is a team that had a potential Austin Matthews trade request hanging over them in when was it boys like May? - Yeah, like they were having meetings. Yeah, they were like where Chris Johnson was doing dogged reporting on like they're gonna chat. They got to talk to Austin and his agent. They got to fucking league rigged the goddamn lottery. - And then the league fucking rigged the goddamn lottery. Did absolute helicopters with it and the May beliefs won the lottery to get Gavin McKenna. They had a good amount of cap space to fill in both like the margins and some keep positions on their roster. And before we discuss that, I'm gonna say, we'll talk about other teams and I will keep bringing up the Maple Leafs moves because I want to know if any other teams when it comes to trade and free agency and just spending their money, did the Maple Leafs thing better than the Maple Leafs? 'Cause we all knew, they had money, they're gonna get busy. They're gonna spend on this guy, that guy, that guy. - High event offseason. High event offseason and the events for them were trading for and extending Darren Raddish, giving $7 million a year to Sergei Babrovsky, which I think we all agree they did not need to do, but if you think he's a good goalie and you think he's gonna stay a good goalie, whatever, I don't fucking care, isn't my money. And then signing Jack Ross Levick, who is one of the stats guys has called the like most mid player in the NHL, which I think was intended as derogatory, but we were talking before the show, like sometimes you need mid guys on your team. - If you were like quite literally by definition, the most rigged, or the most mid player in the league, better than half the league. - Yeah, you're pretty good. - You're not overachieving, but you're not underachieving, whatever. Two guys that I wanna note, they still have Matthew Nies, whom they almost traded last year. - I know the second one. - We're saved from themselves. - Morgan Wiley. - Morgan Wiley is still on this team and this was the summer of, you got some shit you got to get off your chest or off your books, you can do it. Not to make beliefs, they kept Morgan Wiley. - Morgan Wiley, Morgan Wiley, Duggy Hamilton. - Yeah. - Sitting across from each other again. Who would have thought? - Look at us. - Look at us. I did forget Duggy Hamilton did not get traded from the doubles either. How do we feel about the Leafs? I'm very intrigued by them and I don't know if they're much better. - I'm very intrigued by them. - I'm very excited by the, I wouldn't call it an overwhelming consensus, but a very popular consensus that this team's gonna be okay. I don't think this team's, I'm not sure this team's gonna be okay. I didn't think that when they were still good every year. - We don't think that Sergey Buprovsky's fucking awesome at this point, do we? I think he can be. - Certainly not guaranteed. I don't know if he's gonna fix any problems there. - Yeah, I think they overextended themselves goal-tending wise. I think they were sick of having okay possible starters. And we're like, you know what, just get us the guy that does fucking play and is the starter. Because famously, Sergey Buprovsky has never lost his starting job before. That happened, I mean, that was probably four years ago. - It's an annual occurrence. - But like, Sergey Buprovsky loses his job sometimes. - Yeah. Gavin McKenna, I think he's gonna be a really awesome player. I don't know if it's gonna happen immediately. Like, I think that this team, I like Nick Paul. I like that addition, but I think that this team might kinda suck again. - Okay, I wanna see, what are the Leafs chances per hockey stats of making the playoffs? They've got the Leafs at a 40% chance of making the playoffs, which is ahead of the Detroit Redwings, the Ottawa Senators, and are you serious, the Montreal Canadiens? - Yes. - This model has the Canadians more likely to miss the playoffs than the Maple Leafs. - There are some really weird ones in there in terms of, like, playoff probability. The, I don't buy Toronto being that high. Don't buy Montreal being that low. Like, I don't buy Boston being that high. It's, I don't know. I'm very confused by it. - Yeah, they might be joking, okay. To the Metropolitan Division. Caroline Hurricanes, last season, won the Stanley Cup. This season, they are set to see some of the best contracts in the history of the NHL again, and didn't do anything to Nutso in the off season, lost Freddie Anderson, but now, they've got the coolest gold tending tandem ever, which is brand and busty and purer to check off. - Fuck you. - Come on, just polar opposites in terms of what I'm gleaning from personality wise. You've got a really nice, like, very polite timid boy, and then a guy with a knife. - Fuck yeah. - I am, I mean, it's hard not to look at the defending Stanley Cup champs, not losing anything big, and like, have any other opinion, then we now know the Hurricanes who are there every year. And I would always pick the Hurricanes for deep runs because it was like, same way I talk about the Dallas stars. Like, just keep fucking trying. It's gonna happen sometime. Your roster is really good. You have really good players. Your coach is good. You'll be fine. Then the coach and Dallas gets himself fired, but I still think their current coach is good. What's there to say? They're awesome. - They may have answered the question. - Maybe the question is on an amazing contract. Jackson Blake is on an amazing contract. Yes, they've answered the question. Although they did it without facing the Panthers. So I guess that can be the one question. - But I more think of it as they answer the question between their own ears, which is like, can we do this? And I think that at certain points, they showed in the past that the moment was too big for them and that they were unprepared for what it took to get to and win the Stanley Cup. And that answer, that question has been answered. And I think that if you get a match up in the Eastern Conference Final versus the Panthers, I'm still gonna give Carolina a very good shot based off of they know they can do it. Shout out Eric Tulski, we look like him sometimes. Last season, Bill Simmons said he'd never heard a single conversation about the Columbus Blue Jackets and Rick bonus said, I never wanna have a single conversation with anybody on the Columbus Blue Jackets because these guys are some bitches and I hate them. It's not exactly what he said, but Rick bonus after leading the Blue Jackets all the way back to the playoffs and then all the way back out of the playoffs lost his mind when that team really fell apart at the end of the season. Lots of questions with how things ended and the off season famously brought no more questions. They everything is good. You didn't have a will they won't they trade Zach Warensky? You didn't have a will they won't they trade Carl Marchenko that is still ongoing. You didn't have a will they won't they sign their best young player in Adam Fantilly? You didn't have a will they, oh my God, they did sign Charlie Coil to that contract. Strange murky days for the Columbus Blue Jackets, which, unfortunately, Is I think why at some point Bill Simmons had never heard a conversation about them like they've not They're not making themselves any more exciting or any grander and as people who have been riding for them It fucking kills me that this shit is still happening with the blue jackets I also feel like they're just like standing on a floorboard that is rotting very very Gradually and at some point it does feel like something is going to split open and they're going to fall through it I don't know if it's Werenzki. It could be Marchenko It could be a lot of different areas where like this team is just Really on a very scary bubble And I think there is so much uncertainty regarding this team. I think there's so much Weird vibes around this team Given the stuff that happened with bonus at the end of last season him like hating his own locker room Him hating his own culture. I know he said that he was going to change it but I don't know I don't know where they stand and I'm very very uneasy about the way that they're entering the season Always rooting for the blue jackets and this is as uneasy a training camp is that like obviously take like tragedy out of it and everything when they were reeling from losing Johnny Good draw a couple of years ago, but in terms of like roster construction who is here who's here who wants to be here It's they've got so much of that hanging over them right now and I do like what bonus did last year Until the magic wore off. I don't think that they're going to be very good this year I don't think they're going to make the playoffs and that kills me the one thing that I'm very excited about is I they got Valerie and Nechuskin for like almost nothing. Yes, and if It looks like it looks in preseason if they have Nechuskin and Veronkov flanking Whoever plays down the middle that is an absolute It is a tank line. Yeah, and that is going to be hilarious to watch and I do like the idea and it does excite me If they keep Veronkov to have Veronkov kind of learn Under Nechuskin and have Nechuskin show him how to be a little bit more effective with his size last season Jack Hughes of the New Jersey devil scored the goal of his life, but it wasn't in the NHL It was against the musen x monster This year the doubles have a new GM and a whole lot of new forwards And this is the first team I will bring up to say did they do The Leafs thing the go out there and spend better than the Leafs because the devil's Additions up front include Luke of Angelista whom they acquired from the predators They got Evan Rodriguez in the Jacob Markstrom deal The not to be forgotten about Evan Rodriguez. They signed Anthony Mantha who scored 33 goals for the penguins last year Anthony Mantha scored 33 goals More goals and David Posternock more goals than David Posternock and got like kind of the same contract as Jack Roslovak I don't know why Anthony Mantha I mean it's because he's Anthony Mantha and you said when we were talking about who's going to sign an Anthony Mantha You famously said I have not thought about Anthony Mantha in a long time and I'm not going to start now or whatever I'm not going to like plan my summer days around who gets Anthony Mantha But this happens sometimes when there's like a buyer beware player where they're like oh well that guy had a huge season He's going to get huge money. Don't be the team that signs him for huge money What about the team that signs him for fucking nothing right like they're every team was like We're not signing this guy for huge money So everybody forgets to even offer him like a nice deal. Yeah, and he gets a nice deal in New Jersey For a team that needs a player like him. I will say emphatically The devils did the leaf thing way better than the leaf switches that they did a lot of work And I like a lot of the work that they did and I think that they addressed a lot of the things they needed to address The number one like they are a pretty deep team now and that was their biggest weakness last year other than gold tending But this is a team that like we're on year what four of saying It has to be their year right like this. I have to know I have stopped doing that But I'm gonna be the guy who does it again like I think that the devils this can absolutely be their year to break out uh The gold tending situation is better because of addition by subtraction get marks from the hell out of there I'm not like crazy. I'm not I'm not making I'm not throwing parties for a tandem of Jake Allen and Nico Dawes But I definitely think it's gonna be better than Marksroom. I like their depth I'm hoping that their injury woes won't be as cursed I would love to see a full season from Jack Hughes who has not played a full season three four years at this point so Like I'm gonna just cross my fingers and say This is the year for the devils. I think they can do it. I think they have the depth. I think they have the star power and maybe you get a big leap from a Luke Hughes and what if What if the Quinn Hughes thing happens? Yeah, I mean that's a whole other if the Quinn Hughes things have a cute left the Quinn Hughes thing happens then Yeah, I though I'm saying like I'm not doing the fourth year in a row of this is the year that it's gonna break for them because I've kind of buried shut out the devils being built on a Indian burial ground. I've kind of buried That whole version of the devils in my in my mind like the team that they just got to get a goalie They're right on the edge. They just got to get a coach now or they have Sheldon keep now like I was doing that All the time and young gritty in the chat said fell for it Again award goes to Pete Blackburn. I'm just viewing it as a different thing. I'm not gonna use Don't I'm gonna say definitely But I really think the devils are gonna make the playoffs. Yeah. Yeah, I think the devils like are gonna be good this year And they're gonna make the playoffs a lot of that is the work that Sonny made has done I Yeah, I think that they're there. I will absolutely say that I'm willing to be the fell for it again guy like I there's There's enough for me to believe that they're gonna be really good And I'm not gonna I'm not just gonna say good. I think they're going to be really good I just think that chapter is over and this is a new one So we both think that they're going to make the playoffs for whatever reason my brain Just can't see it being part of the like they've been building towards this I think that they've built and crashed Three individual times and now Maybe it's just because they have a new GM who I think he's going to be proactive. Yeah, which fits God bless him Was just doing jack shit for quite some time there. Yes Last season a bird went to one of the New York Islanders games this season They've got Peter de Borset for his first full season as their head coach and the reigning calder winner prime to make his first Norris bid most importantly they have make believe haters whom they are determined to silence all in all I would say Good year for the islanders last year a good year for a team that fired its coach And didn't make the playoffs but They were above 500 they found out they have an absolute stud Their goalie remains one of the best goalies in the NHL they I think learned a lot and we saw when they won the lottery despite not being a horrible team We were like oh this now can be a team that positions themselves as like Kind of close to being there and they were kind of close to being there My thing is even though they've got a new coach and a coach who's accomplished a lot more than Patrick Wa as a head coach I think they're still almost there and I think they're still almost there For this season like it's going to be more of Developing guys. I think that they've got absolute stars on the way and I don't know if they're there yet like calum richi I think it's going to be important this year. I think that especially if Matthew Barzall stays hurt Calum Richie is going to be your second line center and we'll see what he can be I liked him in his 60 whatever games he played last season But when I think of the islanders and them arriving and them being awesome I think about K-Sean H. Asin who was Corey Prondman said was the best defenseman in the OHL last year It was his fourth year in the OHL so maybe that's not a huge surprise They also drafted multi-gust of sin with the 13th overall pick this year like they have stars coming on defense Collizer man. Collizer man. I'm kind of putting in the Like will we find out if he's a thing here. This is going to be his first full year as a pro though So I don't know like is he starting in the AHL and maybe We see him in the NHL at some point this season. That's probably also where I'd put H. Asin I just think it's a lot of guys who If and when they become what they're gonna become the islanders are going to be not quite sharks like but You'll ask how do they get this many young guys hitting all at once that is coming for the islanders I don't think it's happening this year though. I think that it'll happen with some of them But the real arrival and holy shit look what they're doing. I still think that's coming next year Yeah, I mean, I think that this is a team that's going to be tough to play against And I think they're probably going to get better under peat to bore like maybe not in a linear way But I think that this team is going to be. learning things this year about themselves and about how to play that's gonna carry over and make them a good team eventually. I don't know if it happens this year. - Yeah, I like the Islanders a lot. I just don't know if I like their NHL roster right now. Okay, that sounds like I don't like the Islanders. And maybe these players all start hitting faster than we expected. And maybe just having more structure with Pete DeBore take some further, we've seen a team with a good goalie or with a great goalie and some good players make the playoffs before. Maybe, I mean, they're a good candidate to overachieve, I would say. Last season, the New York Rangers finished last in the Metropolitan Division in a former player blame they're losing on Pride night. This season, they're hoping a busy summer gets them back to respectability. Hallmarks of that team last year I would say is they couldn't really score and they were terrible at MSG. The only team in the NHL with a worse home record than them last season was the Vancouver Conucks who were the worst team in the NHL. So yeah, but they go bug. I like the Rangers off season. I joked about it the other day. What do you mean by that? Pablo Dorothea, I think, is a very good acquisition to address their lack of scoring. I know that people are wondering what does he look like outside of Vegas and outside of playing with some of the players that he was playing with last year. Playing five on five. We need to give the contract that he got a little more love because I didn't like doing the hindsight contract stuff with someone signed this contract this year. Let's compare it to something before all of the shit signed two years ago, whatever, stupid conversation. Seven times 11 for a 25 year old coming off back to back 35 goal seasons is fucking amazing. And I don't know what he's going to be in New York, but if he's a 25 to 30 goal score, seven times 11 for a 25 year old, that's pretty awesome. You don't believe in Pablo Dorothea? I'm skeptical. I'm not saying I don't believe in I'm skeptical outside of Vegas. I'm skeptical about five on five and how much he can consistently produce there. And I'm skeptical about the claim that that's an awesome deal when, I mean, I guess like it can be. I don't know if it is. I think that it's not necessarily awesome. And I'm very glad that the Bruins got JJ Praterka, a baseline 25 goal guy for the price that they got him at versus what New York had to pay. They also sent out Vincent Trocheck and got Sean Derzy back. Derzy will replace Will Borgon, whom they traded to Boston for picks. They also traded for Jonas Corpasolo to replace the retired Jonathan Quick. And then I'm going to throw them into the Maple Leafs conversation. Did they do the Maple Leafs think better than the Maple Leafs? Because I liked their signings up front. Ellie Tolvin and we joked about but also Oliver Bjorkstrand on a one year deal. And I think that Bjorkstrand on a one year deal is kind of perfect for them where I don't think this is a team that's like barreling back to the playoffs. But I do think they can see what they have. They can see if Alexi Lafernier takes another step forward. And we're always kind of waiting for that. Like is this the year he's the Ryan Tanahill of the NHL? Like is this the year he breaks out? If they're in the mix, then Bjorkstrand's going to be awesome to have. If they're not in the mix signing Oliver Bjorkstrand for one times four and a half million dollars is the easiest way to get a free second round pick or first round pick depending on the season he's having. I like their off season. I'm less impressed by what they've done up front. I do like kind of how they reposition on the back end. Like I like Marcus Pedersen and Sean Dursy now being on their blue line. And then hopefully a full year of Adam Fox healthy gets them to being a much better defensive team. I still don't really like their forward group. And while I'll say Toronto's work was better is because I think that they changed their image a bit more than New York did. Yeah, the Rangers are still very much mad. And I saw someone saying like I'm begging them to just be watchable. I think that is more the bar they're chasing than the playoffs. And I think it's attainable. I also saw by the way, do you see the package that they're doing? Yeah, two games a month for 150 bucks. That is an awesome deal. And I would be so annoyed if I were a season ticket holder of the Rangers. I mean, they'd be like, I could just be going to two games and it's cheap. What the fuck? I hate that 75 bucks per ticket is an awesome deal. Well, they're lower bowl seats. Oh, I did not know that it's lower bowl. I actually think this is very neat. It's lower bowl seats that are assigned the day of the game. You find out what seats you have the day of the game. And that way you're moving around. Okay, I definitely think that that's an awesome deal now. I just assumed that those tickets were like in the in the balcony. Yeah, Sean, if the Sabers had something like that, you'd be all over that. Yeah, absolutely. I also didn't realize they were in the lower bowl, but yeah, plus it's MSG. It's not like here at any random arena, like lower bowl seats in MSG 75 bucks a pop. That's not bad. I mean, again, I'm like kind of tempted to do that and then just take a train to New York twice a month. Oh, I love that day. If they have weekend ones, yeah. But that is, I saw some season ticket holders were furious. Well, I mean, yeah, you're a fucking child. It's never going to go well for you. Respectfully to all season ticket holders of the New York Rangers. Last season, Philadelphia Flyers radio play by play guy got suspended for asking for a blowjob on air. This season, we want to see if he was joking. Yep, yep. This season, we want to see if the excitement from an actually unproductive and like, factually boring off season gives them a little juice. They got your wall. Yeah. Big thing, obviously, was the offer sheet of Leo Carlson in the summer that saw the ducks match. So instead, the flyers off season's biggest addition up front was. Can you give it to me off the top of your head? No, no, chari. Hey, oh, however, I need to remind people, not only was this a playoff team last season, this is a team that got its way to the second round. They won a round. It was a different kind of energy in Philadelphia last season, and they didn't lose anybody big. So like, let's take them seriously. No one's going to do that. No, I mean, I'm watching. I'm watching. I'm not tuning them out. I'm not expecting a repeat of all the weird shit that happened last year. I think there are two questions what the flyers this season, and both of them are fun. How great is Porter, Marton, and how good is Matt Vameachkov? You could even throw in great. It could be because if the answer to the second one is great, which is very plausible, he's down. What is it? 30 pounds. 30 pounds? By the way, not to brag. I realized the other day, I lost 20 pounds over the summer. I look exactly the fucking same. All of my clothes kind of fit like sort of the same. I lost 20 pounds and nothing changed. That sucks, man. That means I've got longer to go to get healthy than I thought. Ain't a damn thing, Shane. Maybe you replaced it with muscle. It is to all I've got, famously I've gotten it, I've lost weight by just going to the gym like crazy. I'm, I've spent all of my money on a trainer who makes me go to the gym and otherwise. My concerns with the Philadelphia flyers are like, what do you got down the middle? I know. I would have crossed the line up, but I'm like, oh, man, be so much cooler. If they had Leo Carlson at the top, but I mean, I feel like the flyers have some good vibes attached to them. I feel like they're interesting and that is a step forward for that team. Yeah. I look bad. You won me over last year, flyers. I don't care what you do this year. You are no longer the team that when a buddy says, hey, I've got extra tickets for tonight. You want Bruins tickets for tonight. And I say, yeah, sure. And then I check the schedule and go, fuck, and then go to a flyers game that happened to me once. I mean, that literally happened to me. Shut up, Nate. Yesterday. I love you. But I was like, he fucked me. I was sitting there the whole time. I'm like, that's son of a, actually, no, I think I went with Nate in that lovely time. But I mean, that literally happened to me yesterday. I got free tickets to the Bruins preseason game against the flyers. And I was like, I'm not going to make it to this. Remember a couple of years ago when we were like, with slate grades, we were like, Sean, are you just putting up flyer and I went like flyer versus islanders games every night because you know, we wouldn't check to see if that game is happening. Neither team is in that equation anymore. I will be watching. I will be watching you, the Philadelphia flyers. And that's because I can't listen to you because we're a family show. We can't outblow jobs. We don't do penis talk. We do. We do not, I wonder if he would have gotten suspended if he'd asked for a while and while you're down there, will he give me a long while you're down there, would you mind? Given me a wonk job, think we're on the air, Tim. Also need to note, they got Joseph Wall to pair with Daniel Vlodar. Vlodar got hurt last night, by the way, I don't know how hurt he is, but I kind of thought that Daniel Vlodar and Joseph Wall were like the same goalie. Different people and different vibes, but like same kind of thing. I'm a believer in Joel Wall. I love him, but I love Daniel Vlodar. Look, last season, the Pittsburgh Penguins went into the season as the only team universally considers to be throwing in the towel. Do you remember that? I think Kelly had said it. He was like the only team that GMs have an understanding will be open for business is the Pittsburgh Penguins. Everybody's buying except these guys. Then, after pumping and dumping on Tristan Jarry, they made the playoffs. I mean, that's a real energizer. They're like, fuck, we got rid of this guy. We didn't do anything. That's it really instills a belief in the room. They were, yeah, they were like, you know what? Yeah, because don't play us at the deadline, they're like, you know, we know when the general manager is putting in the work, it's on us to put in the work as well. He got rid of that guy. And then, like, now we have new players here. I saw Brett Coolack the other day. I don't think we moved any picks in this deal. It really, it really tells us that he's putting in the work and we should put in the work too. They matched Kyle Dubus's freak. They got to the playoffs. Yeah, that was a really fun first round series against the Flyers. No. Well, yeah, yes, it looked like they were getting walked and, yeah, I was like, I need the penguins to keep winning. I knew I need the penguins to start winning because the Flyers are winning this series no matter what. I just want more of it. Yeah, but when you say like, really fun series, I guess on the whole, but they got walked to a degree in like the first few games that I was like, this series is over regardless of what fight they show, what pushback they show. I will treat the penguins the way of like, I ain't getting fooled by what happened last year. I am fully out on the penguins. I'm out. I'm not, I'm not believing in this team. That should be safe because they lost Ryan Shay, which was a really confusing, I was, I'm like asking penguins fans on Twitter, like, fill me in here. I don't think the Ryan Shay is gonna go winning any norases, but I think you got like four times four million dollars in this economy. Why didn't you want what looks like a pretty good top four defenseman? I think like the most logical answer is that it's just like, it's not gonna fit whatever picture they have. Their answer to anything can be, it doesn't matter. Yeah, right. So I think that that's the most logical answer. I think logically I would love to see Eric Carlson be the guy that he was last year. But I more logically expect him to be old Eric Carlson again. That was a magical, magical resurgence that I did not see happening last year. I, I'm out on this team. They also lost Anthony Mantha, who scored 33 goals for the penguins last year. Yeah. Last season was some cool magic and I want penguins fans to think of and remember the 2025, 26 penguins front office and all fondly. They can't do it again if they, but I'll tell you what, if they win their like first two games of the season, I won't be shutting the fuck up about it. I'll be having us do penguins chat. I can't, I can't, please just like be shitty to start. If you're going to be shitty, be shitty the whole way because I can't do like, I can't do two months of believing in them. And then like they're like hanging on to sitting Crosby and then they fall apart at towards the end. I would like for them to be what they're going to be the entire year. Okay. Last season, the Washington capitals. Let me see. I'm doing this one off the dome. What's a funny thing that happened with the Washington capitals? Last season, it was a failure because they lost Peer Oak Dubois. Oh, that's right. Yeah. Last season, very good. Last season, the Washington capitals proved it's a copycat league because they copied their Alex barcov when their Alex barcov, honestly, if you were to ask me who's the capitals Alex barcov, the answer is Peer Luke Dubois. Show me the fucking lie. Last season, Peer Luke Dubois proved to be Alex barcov. Now, with the reigning Selke winner, they look to get back to the playoffs. He didn't win the Selke. That was Nick Suzuki. He didn't win the Selke or play all of the games. This is clearly a season in which they either think it's Ovechkin's last year or second to last year or something. They are pushing their chips back in two off seasons ago. They were active as hell in the most endearing or derogatory way possible. I love that off season. I, uh, wistfully referred to it as an expansion draft. They got, they, I think Anthony Mantle was one of the guys. They, no, no, they lose Anthony Mantle. They had him at some point. They had him a couple of years ago. Yeah, I think they dumped him to the penguins last year, whatever it may have been. But they just got all the randos and all the, who's going to take that guy? They said, well, fucking take all of them. They took Jacob Chikren and he ended up being awesome. Last year, they proved, you can't let your foot off the gas with that. You got to keep getting fucking guys. That's the capital's thing. You got to keep water in the plant. They didn't water it last off season. This year, they did, again, they got Alex Tuck. They traded for Jordan Cairo, which is wild, a, a, a great get for them. I will say we'll talk more about the during the blues section about that trade. Mm-hmm. I don't know if there might be a little buyer beware with that. They spent a lot on Jordan Cairo trade. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's certainly. But they're saying like high risk. I lost the fucking forwards. We're doing this shit. I love that. There is a potential high reward there for Jordan Cairo. I'm not the biggest Cairo guy, but I do like him for Washington and I will say, I'm in. I am absolutely in. I think that this team can be very good. Yes. Sneaky move, which is tough to miss him. But they signed Vinnie DARREN-A to a seven year, $77 million contract, not exactly that. But what do you mean by sneaky numbers closer to that than you would think? I think Vinnie DARREN-A got $4 million here. Was that right? Vinnie DARREN-A contract. Look at the daily, look at the daily face off page and I have a call Hudson Vinnie DARREN-A pair, which always, I know I've seen quite possibly the funniest pair in the NHL. I've seen it in practice. In these videos of them, it is incredible because they're like, check out this clip of the call Hudson, Vinnie DARREN-A pair. And there's like three or four guys in the corner and you could see call Hudson's one of them. And you're like, well, where's Vinnie DARREN-A? And then Vinnie DARREN-A comes into the shot and you're like, oh my god, it's some honey we shrunk the kids shit where the perspective doesn't really make sense until the big thing comes in. And you're like, holy smokes. That rules. That is outrageous. I don't love the right side of their defense, particularly Timothy Lulgegren and Vinnie DARREN-A, but I really, really like their forward group. I think that Ryan Leonard is going to have a monster year. I think this team is going to be so much fun to watch. Yeah. They got so much better off the rush with Cairo and Alex Tuck. That was one of their big weaknesses last year. I think this is going to be a very fun team to watch. Is Chats saying there is a stain on my shirt? Are you fucking with me? Where? It's a random orange splotch. Oh. Is that on the camera? No, I think it's on the graphic. I don't really know what it is, but. Oh. Wait, take the graphic down right quick. No. Yeah. There it is. Not really sure what's happening there. If you ever sabotage my look, I actually don't hate that move. Yeah. I was going to say put in a little pull like grog circles around your eyes, stains in your shirts. I mean, I mean, we wouldn't hate a couple of filters, just a little, give us a little rosy glow. I'm confused as to how the chat got duped by that. The thing wasn't moving. Yeah. I didn't. Oh, no. It was a tough stain. It wasn't moving. It was that was locked in, uh, yeah, so caps in protest brothers and, yeah, boon, Jenner. All right. Yeah. Yeah. Boom. This forward group looks sick. It's fucking sick. I don't like it. It looks awesome. Like, Jordan, they just paid Jordan, uh, Justin Sordief, like the largest contract in NHL history. And, uh, daily phase of asm was the fourth line center. Like that forward group looks sick. I think that the, I mean, he is, he like does not have experience playing hockey. They're just like guessing that that guy's a thing. I think that the, the caps are going to have a great first quarter to first half of the year because they're going to keep sending guys over the bench and then defenseman on the other team are going to be like, wait, what the fuck? This guy's on this team too. Yeah. And they're going to have, they're going to really throw it off by, uh, by new faces. Yeah. I mean, they really threw everything at this off season and I love it because they didn't really throw anything at the defense. They don't, like size wise, they added as much. Like if you were to like put the forwards they got and the defenseman they got on a scale to see just like overall, how much did they add? It's about the same. Vinny Day RNA is fucking huge and that rocks for him. But yeah, the forwards they add, I honestly forgot about Boone Jenner, which who knows what he is at this point in his career? Like maybe he won't be great, but they've got bodies. Boone Jenner is not important at his job anymore. Which I think is the best thing for Boone Jenner. Okay, we'll find out as we switch off of the Metropolitan Division if the other ones have a stain. But first I got to tell you about prize picks. Carolina has a 90% chance making the playoffs according to hockey stats.com, New Jersey, 80% Pittsburgh, 70%, 70% chance making the playoffs? - Yeah, I think Pittsburgh, Jayfresh is a penguins fan. - Oh, could be nice at work. - Draft rankings, 51% for the Philadelphia Flyers, 47% for the New York Rangers, 41% for the Washington capitals, 15% for the Columbus Blue Jackets, which means - Yes, that's perfect. - Just eight or seven fouls. - Thank you, Schaefer, 10% the worst odds to make the playoffs, the New York Islanders, I don't believe it. I do not believe it. I don't buy the Islanders having worst odds in the Blue Jackets and the Rangers. - Rangers are damn near, coin flip, that's crazy to me. I don't, I just don't love the Islanders NHL roster right now. I feel bad that that occurs with me. I love that we're, I feel. - We just said that we're not big on math. - Math, math, math, mathematician, we're not. - We're not, math, math, mathematic, guys. But we'll dive into some fucking weird ass probabilities where I don't know where they come from. - Yeah, so Felger's Rule is like, don't give me a stat. If you can't explain to me what it means, 'cause they were trying to figure out if Romeo Dobbs was good. And they were like, well, his catch, he was in the whatever percentile for catches last season. And he was like, he's high good or bad. And they were like, we don't know, he's just in that percentile. And he was like, don't bring me stats. You can't explain what they are. - I don't, I don't know what they are, but I do believe that Jay fresh is smarter than me. - And I do believe that I don't need stats to tell you about Romeo Dobbs. Not very good. - Can't drop passes when you were a guardian cap. - Oh, there was one the other day. I forgot who it was. I forgot what game it was in, but it was really rough. - Can't happen. - Yeah, you gotta be bulletproof. - Yeah, it's like, when I was a kid, I was afraid to wear my, whenever I wore my hat backwards, I felt like I was like, oh, you're just like, trying to look like a cool guy. If you do anything, you're getting trouble at school. If you go into, everything's so much worse by all the fucking tough guy, the cool kid with the backwards hat on. That's what the guardian cap is. People wear it to look cool. Last season, the Chicago Black Hawk straight they're captain, but now they've got a new one. And they might have a number one defenseman. This is a team that is sick of rebuilding. And they're trying to move forward. So they went and they spent a lot on Bo-Barram. They also brought back Patrick Kane. They've, they also, they signed Yelia McKayev. They had McKayev. - Oh, no, they, who looked, let me pull back up the Black Hawk's lines. Who is I thinking of? They made another offensive addition, I thought. Maybe they didn't. What's Anton Frontell gonna be? - I think Anton Frontell is gonna be very, very good. - He's gonna be very, very excited about him. - This team is just not exciting to me right now. I'm sorry, they're just got too many holes up front. I mean, I'm obviously going to be paying attention. I think that Bo-Barram has so much pressure on him. Shout out to that guy, averaging three goals per game in the preseason, I think. I don't know if the Black Hawk's played a second game, but Bo-Barram, good luck, brother. That's all I gotta say. - He's in a tough spot, but he's in the spot that he wanted. - Exactly. - Honestly, I don't know how they will deploy Alex Vlasik, but if they're doing a Vlasik Byram top pairing, that's not gonna be the best pairing in league, but that's a really good pairing. Then I would very much wish was my second pairing, but yeah, that would be an ideal second pairing, but if they're playing those two together, I think Byram's gonna be good. And also, Bo-Barram is, I would say, a really good defenseman. He's pretty good to quite good. I don't know, really good, at the very least, is he a really good first pairing defenseman? - No, no, no, no. - That's a big question. - He was really good in the playoffs. Say that, he was arguably the best defenseman in the playoffs, at least in the first round. - He took turns being their second best defenseman last season too, Sean. - Like there were days, really good. - That Dalline was their first, there was their best defenseman, obviously, he's usually their best defenseman, but there were days that, why can't I think of his name? - Samuelson. - Matthias Samuelson was their best defenseman, and there were days that Bo-Barram was their best defenseman. So, the sabers are going to miss him a lot, and I think that maybe there could be some Seth Jonesing here, and I'm terrified of that happening for Bo-Barram, because we saw what happened when that terrible Seth Jones got away from being the only good defenseman on the Black Hawks, and it's like, okay, well, him being your second best defenseman means you win Stanley Cups. I don't know what Barram's going to look like there. - I don't know what Barram's going to look like, because how often has he gotten the toughest matchups? - And what he's going to be doing on the power play, that's the one thing I would bet on with him. - Yeah, at least he better be, 'cause that's his whole, that's like he said, it's what he wanted, the opportunity to quarterback a power play, so he better fucking be good on a power play. - They will definitely score more goals this season. - Yeah, and I definitely think that they're going to be more interesting and more fun, like I think that there is a step forward in watchability that is important for that team, because they have bordered on watchable at points. - I do, I am for sure continuing to buy Contra Badard stocks. I am not selling any of those. I still think that he can get to that level where he's close to the elite category. I think Frank Nazar can be like a really good Leon dry-sidle in that maybe like the second most important player on that team or a forward on that team. I just think they just got too many holes in the forward group. - See, I think Frontel needs to, I think that Nazar needs to be awesome and Frontel needs to be even better than Nazar to have the type of structure and hierarchy that this team wants. I think that this team for as thin as it is offensively needs to have like three elite players for us to even be having a conversation about them. - Oliver Moore is very exciting too. I'm pretty excited to see what he can become this year. So like fun team, fun team to watch. I don't know how good they're gonna be. I don't think they're gonna be very good. - I don't either, but I do respect the like how deliberate they were in this thing takes a step forward. I don't care if it's, this might be two of the 15 steps that this team needs to take forward, but they're like we are not gonna be the third worst team in the NHL for a millionth year in a row. Like we are getting a little fucking better if it kills us. And the Byram trade, I still don't think was that horrible and in hindsight, I think that it's even better now that the cat kinda got out of the bag that everybody was trying to trade those first round picks and that the guy that was selected with the pick that they traded was someone who probably could have gone ninth or tenth overall. respect them for taking that swing. - Can I propose something that I would find very, very interesting and palatable? A Karel Marchenko landing in Chicago. - That would be fucking awesome. - And I think that they have enough in terms of assets to make a compelling offer. - Can you try to give me one? - No, I'm bad at that. - Okay. - But I think they have a lot of nice pieces. - Yeah. - And they have capital. - I love that fucking answer, by the way. And I don't do trade submissions. - No, this happens a lot in sports radio or TV or whatever. I used to find it back in the day where they'd be like, "All right, we're having you come in to talk "Bruins, Patriots, whatever." And they'd be like, "Oh, a Red Sox thing happened. "You gotta talk Red Sox now." And you have two options. You could be like, "I'm not ready to say something "right now, so I will say everything "that I'm comfortable saying. "You wanna give me a couple minutes? "I can do something." The worst fucking thing you could have done there would be like, "Oh yeah, just and then you list off "something that you don't believe in." And then afterwards you hate yourself. I do agree that Carl Marchenko would be perfect for this team. It would be very much like the Bowen Byron thing. - Like, you can overpay for that. - But yeah, it's the right age. It's someone that you wanna be around forever. Not too profile, that's more Pete's thing. Russian players like playing in big cities, historically. Chicago. - Hallelujah. - And if Carl Marchenko was in Chicago, we would be there every weekend. That's our fucking guy. I would watch every game, I would go to every game. - A black Marchenko. - Oh, a Marchenko black. - Oh baby. - Okay. - That one really works. - Yeah, that sounded like it. Yeah, for some reason that sounded like it was like. - Crisis? - Yeah, no. - That's my lady. - I don't know, towards you, but. - Yeah, yeah. A black Marchenko would be amazing. - Dude, a white Marchenko. - I'm gonna red Marchenko, they don't look sick. - They, I guess what we're saying folks, is the Chicago black hawks have different colored jerseys. - Okay. - And they're all good. - More on that later. - Will, yes. Okay, Chad isn't killing me. So I'm kind of happy about that. Let's move on. Last season, the Colorado Avalanche were handed the Stanley Cup in November. This year their depth has taken a hit, but I think they still absolutely fucking rock. I don't think they'll be handed the cup again so early. They've lost Jack Dury. They've lost Ross Colton. They've basically lost everybody who. - Chushkin. - Yeah, they sent Chushkin to the Blue Jackets, but I was gonna say, mainly it was someone left their front office and was like, "Give me all those players." That would be taking a shit with me. - Okay, I think of his name. Former GM of the, he's now the president. Make something. - The Farland. - McFarland, yeah, Chris McFarland. - Chris McFarland, something McFarland. - Yeah, I think this team is really, really good still. - They're still awesome. They signed a favorite contract of mine, which was Brett Koolack for a number that seemed ridiculous. And it was like immediately at the top of worst contracts in the NHL, and then just wait a few minutes, look at all the other contracts. Yeah, can you give me the numbers on the Brett Koolack contract? - 4.5, five times 4.5. - Five years, you know, that's still fucking juicy. The contract, but I loved Brett Koolack on the Iavalanche. I had a sneaky feeling when they got him. It's like, oh, he's gonna actually be really good there. And he was awesome for them in the playoffs. So bringing him back, the term is crazy. $4.5 million, fucking nothing anymore. - What if, what if Kel McCarrer just decides, hey, I got paid. I don't need to do shit. - I suck now. - And he starts to stink. Well, then they got Brett Koolack. - It's just the Baker Mayfield. - Yeah, the Iavalanche are just so uninteresting to talk about because we know they're good. - We know they're lost a bunch, but we know they're good. And they're gonna be fun. Let's say you play out. - Okay, last season, the Minnesota wild traded for Quinn Hughes. This season, they don't know if they will be trading Quinn Hughes. Not a super loud off season for them, I will say. They lost Vladimir Tarasenko, but can you really lose someone if nobody finds them? - I mean, they could get them back. - Yeah, I think they lost Matt Zucarillo. - Yeah, I was gonna say more than Tarasenko is the loss of Zucarillo, which he was really good for them. And it is again, a question of center depth. They've got some big questions there. And I think that they're still probably a pretty good team, but what happens with Quinn Hughes? That is a big cloud hanging over that team. - Yeah, we have seen that Bill Garin does know how to sign extensions because he just signed one himself. - Did you skip the stars? - Yeah, I was gonna say, I leans pissed. - Oh my God, I'm very sorry. We'll get to them after. Sorry for going out of order. Let's see. Yeah, I just straight up didn't write to, I do have notes on the stars that I can open up. But yeah, on my list, I just had them in the wrong order. - I love it for allegations. - Yeah. - And people in here every day. - We're usually skipping the wild stars. - Yeah, no, I do people think I hit the stars? - I think that there are people in the chat. I'm not gonna name names. There are people who listen to the show. - Oh no, I wouldn't even talk about the stars they get mad. - And then when we don't talk about the stars, they also get mad. - No, I understand them getting mad when we talk about the stars because sometimes it's things that aren't great, but I'm always a stars believer. So should that wrap up wild chat? Or anything else on the wild? - I still think that three-headed monster at the top of the central exists is gonna be there again. So yeah, I mean, we can get to the third head with Dallas, but I think there's probably the most uncertainty around the wild of that three-headed monster. - Yeah. I will say that the Dallas stars quite possibly had one of the. Actually, I won't say that they had one of the least interesting off seasons. They weren't super active. - Awesome, Maverick Bork. - There was a standoff with Jason Robertson that will set up a standoff with Jason Robertson. And yeah, they lost Maverick Bork. He was gonna get off her sheeted. They sent him to Nashville. And that's been kind of that. It's pretty much the same old stars. And I always tell the stars, just keep going for it. Just take another kick at it. And that's what they're doing. - Miko Ranton shaved his head. You got a buzz cut? - Early on. - That's interesting. Yeah, he's a copycat league. Star is still awesome. Tyler Stagen, maybe back? - Yeah, that would be exciting. I'd be really happy for him there. - Very, very good team. Very excited. I think that they're just gonna be right there again. - I don't know. - Yeah, Alex Petrovich went back to Florida. How about that? - How about that? - He was playing for them in the playoffs a couple of years ago. And then Michael Bunting departed. They, but really, I think if you're the stars, I know that when you keep knocking at the door, you're like, we just need that one more big piece. Like, you got that big piece two years ago. It's Miko Ranton and you just have to-- - I mean, they fucking took their head against the wall. They took a big swing, like they tried to-- - To get that Bronski. - To get that Bronski. And he said, no, thank you. That would have been insane. So I guess they're trying, like they could potentially be big game hunting behind the scenes, but I think that like, it's just one of those cases when Zach Bronski presents himself as an option, you really go out and try to make that happen. - Yeah, I mean, they've always been big game hunters though. Like they obviously went out and got Miko Ranton in. They wanted Brady Kechuk and they were ready to move heaven and earth for him. And if Bronski does pop back up, he makes so much sense there, but the fact that he got cold feet makes me think either he never wants to leave Columbus or that he doesn't want to go to Dallas for some reason, which that would kind of surprise me because they're a good team and no state income tax. That seems like a pretty good situation for him. - Yeah, also like the market, like he's not going to get swarmed in the two markets. We know that that's a big feature playing Columbus. Jason Robertson thing, you mentioned setting up for another standoff, but you're also setting up another contract year and he played an unbelievable year of hockey last year. Is he setting up, is he going to, he's going to RFA still, right? I'm saying he had a contract year last year, played his fucking balls off, had an incredible year, same exact situation again this year. - Oh, it's maybe not a bad situation. - Robertson's going to UFA. He's 27 now. So yeah, one year, $12 million, he will be an unrestricted free agent. But I think that they kind of called his bluff or he called his own bluff for them when he wouldn't go to Seattle. So they should know, apparently he wants to be here, damn, they really should have given him like $15 million a year before all that shit went down. I think they're due for another whole ass mess there. Last year the Nashville Predators had to clarify they were not changing their name because SNL did a pretty like low hanging fruit. skit and Nick Saven became a part owner of the team. This year, they have a new general manager and 60 to 65 new players. I think of the predators as the most active, even if it wasn't all super loud, they just did so much shit. Luke Evangelista out, Maverick, Bork, Jack, Dury, Ross, Colton, Alex, Kerfoot, Ilya, LaBouchekin, million players in. Some of those excite me more than others. Some of the more than others. The funniest part of all that, though, to me is that the three big pillars of their revamp still there. We've talked so much about the predators, maybe rearranging some chairs after their big failed free agency splash. All three of those guys still there. You see, if that remains the same, I feel like there's a lot of potential for Nashville's kind of repositioning to continue on into this season. But I mean, Stamco's March So Che, all still there, Rhino Riley still there, wild. Yeah. Do you think that Roman Yosey ends up happening at some point? A trade? Yeah. I mean, if you're, that would be moving off those other guys. I think that you're kind of throwing them all into the same pot where it's like, if we're getting younger, if we are rebuilding, we're going all in on the rebuild. I agree with that. I think that the moving of the veterans has taken longer to begin than expected. But once it begins, maybe involves more guys than we initially thought that they just really move all those guys out, give Jack Dury the C. I also think that like so many of those pieces can be viewed as like the final piece or like such a valuable piece for a contending team that they, there's a good chance they do really well in like all of those trades and suddenly they have a much different and more exciting roster heading into next year. Yeah. I would say that's a fun job that Chris McFarland has right now because he's got some young pieces. We'll see what Brady Martin going to make the team this year. Looks like it. Fuck yeah. I want to find out what that is. I'm pulling for Brady Martin. This is the one that I want to talk about the most. I'll be honest with you and I don't know if we have any Blues fans who check out this show. We do. We do. Yeah. Good. Last season the Blues couldn't find their game or Joel Hofer one time, but they did find out they've got a star in Jimmy Snuggaroo. This season. Oh boy. I say sky is the limit sky being that they make the playoffs. They were close to making the playoffs last year. They finished two teams outside the sky is a limit and then immediately putting a limit on the sky. Yeah. I'm putting a limit on the sky, but a sky is the limit. If you built a if you had like a dollhouse or you did like a welcome to Marwan thing and you had like a whole world that you built, like the sky and that is the limit. They have glow in the dark stickers on their ceiling. Yes. Yes. If you mean there is a ceiling, the ceiling is more exciting, but there is still a ceiling. The ceiling looks like the sky for you can make you ever been a Mexico and Disney World. Like if you go to Epcot and you go inside the pyramid there, like they got like stars. It's kind of like a race. Like they got stars in the ceiling. Yeah. That is and this is all complimentary. Yeah. Blues fans. Yeah. Because there used to be nothing on the ceiling. Let's talk about some of the shuffling that they did. Jordan Kairu trade brought back Connor Mick Michael in a bunch of other stuff. Kairu and Mick Michael both had 46 points last season. So you can look at it that way. Kairu's ceiling I would say emphatically is a lot higher as a score, but Mick Michael scored 26 goals last year or two seasons ago. I should say and he's 25 years old. They also brought in Mason, McTavish. I think that who got fucking jacked by the way. Oh, really? You see those the photos of Mason, McTavish. Goose and McTavish. I don't know if it's good or not because it's a famously like jacked hockey players are not always like great hockey players. Laurent Landry on skates. Yeah. He's just huge now. I believe in Mason, McTavish. Same. I think that for some people and sometimes maybe even my brain goes there, we think of Mason, McTavish as a player who is stalled out, but he's 23 years old and he's already had a 22 goal season. He can be a really, I think he'd be a really good NHL player. He right now is listed as their second line center. I think that it's likely that he'll settle into being their third line center and he's like not a great skater, which is everybody what they hold against him. I don't think that he necessarily needs to be especially if he's just a fucking tank now who like gets in the gritty areas and goes to the front of the net, like he's that kind of dog. I like that. You don't want to be a slow team, but I think a good player not being a great skater is so overrated. I always go back to Patrice Bergeron. Like, oh no, Patrice Bergerons, like people didn't drop Patrice Bergeron the first round because he wasn't a good skater, like sweet. He was a perfect hockey player. Sorry, he's not fast. Sorry, he's not, he's not an Alex formantin, if you will, but I think Patrice Bergeron was pretty darn good. Wouldn't you agree? I would agree. Yes. Okay. The the blues forward group, very exciting. I don't know how good this team is going to be. I think they're going to be a fun, exciting team. I like a lot of their young players. You mentioned Snuggaroo. Yeah, let me just position it this way. Sorry, promising or already awesome forwards aged 21 to 25. Snuggaroo, Holloway, Jake neighbors, Mason, McTavish, biggest one, Dvoroski. Yes. Like the biggest one for me. That is, that's names five guys. Maybe not bigger than the Snuggaroo, but Dvoroski, I think is like sneaky, going to be awesome for them. But they're all in the 21 to 25 year age range. They need Dylan Hallway to stay healthy. He scored a 30 goal clip last year and only played 59 games. So I think he had 20 something goals, but he was on pace for 30 goals. He has 48 goals in a little over a season and a half with the blues. He has been awesome for them. So they have already young players like Snuggaroo in Holloway, who are already established as awesome NHL scores and like neighbors. And then they've got like the Dvoroskies of the world who are just primed to go off. Yeah. I love their young forwards back end. Let's discuss because St. Louis Blues have not been synonymous with amazing blue lines over the past handful of years. I think it's fine. I like the Brandon Carlo get and maybe getting the fell forward again, award with Carlo. Maybe Carlos has been bad for like five years now. But I think that he's, I think he was miscast in Toronto and they were expecting him to be something that he wasn't good in Toronto, but they were expecting something so much better that he was almost set up for failure. I think that's a really good reset point. And he's back to playing for for Monty. Oh, true. They thought that they were getting like 2019 second round against the Blue Jackets, just dominating. What did they trade him for? They got, they gave up like Frazier Minton. Oh, the Leafs. Yeah. Frazier Minton and the pick that so far has become Gavin McKenna for the Leafs, but what's supposed to be a top five protected, but pick a real player and a first round pick. Yeah. I feel like they probably had a lot a little to do with the expectations that Toronto fans had for him. Yeah. That was, that was terrible. They, they got smoked in that deal and they moved on from him. But I don't think that like, I don't get it. Brandon Carlo is like a lost cause by any means. Yeah. I think you can be a really good third pairing defenseman. I'm very cool with that. And then in net, Joel Hofer, can we agree has surpassed Jordan Bitington as the guy? Because if Jordan Bitington is the guy, whoever the other person is should probably surpass them at some point. I think it happened last year. I think this splits the, it was like 43 starts for Hofer to 39 for Jordan Bitington. I think that unless Bitington bounces way back, which he's just not a very good player. He had an eight 73 say percentage last season. I have a very good chance he gets straight at this year. Final year of his deal. So they said last year. Yeah. But I don't know if I've been to needs a fourth goalie. I'll lose my mind. I'll say I'm giving this the stamp of like DJ likes this team. St. Louis Blues. I like this team. I don't like, when you say like this team is that just not caring about the results. Not your business. Like you said famously, done the, I like the roster stamp and use that as like a, well, I, I don't care about the wins losses. I just like the roster. Sorry, I just, I didn't say they're making the playoffs. So I'm just trying to clarify what that means. I like the team. I like this team. That clears it up. Thank you. All right. So Blues, you heard it here first. As first reported on what cast. I like the team. Last season, Patrick Paws and top cheese brought the Utah Mammoth. Sorry, I'm so distracted. That's such a good comparison. Jordan Bennington is the new John Gibson. Yes, it's, it's, people haven't used the John Gibson shield of like, well, he wins the big one. But John Gibson was like, pretty good, not great. What? John, the like two years leading up to the, he's going to get traded. He was not pretty good. John, John gets to the bad for like a handful of years before finally getting traded. What everyone was saying, oh, right, right. It was the year that stew was underwhelming that everybody was like trade for John Gibson. And it was like, John Gibson has the exact same numbers. Yeah, John Gibson were trying to have been right in a while. And people kept saying, well, like, maybe if you trade him, he will be good again. Maybe last season Patrick Paus and top cheese brought the Utah mammoth to the playoffs in part because they were willing to say what they meant. Say how they felt. Fuck it. Get into politics a little bit. That was top cheese. This year, the mammoth coming off a playoff run in which they looked not ready for the moment. They, they ran into the nights who looked a lot more adult than them. They added Vincent Trocheck, Lashondurzi in that deal, but they'd added Mackenzie Weeger last year. So maybe they felt once again they could move a defenseman in the offseason, which they do every year pretty much. And they turned JJ Paturka into Sebastian Kosa. That's the most, that's the most head scratching thing with GMBA for me. And I know that they've got Tijaginla coming and they have young players like Simechev in boot who are going to take on bigger roles. And I cannot wait to see what Tijaginla is, but I just don't like the value of moving JJ Paturka transitively for Sebastian Kosa. I understand that, but also I think that Paturka proved to be like a little redundant and unnecessary. I don't know if you mentioned Anders Lee. Yeah, yeah, yeah, true. I just think that they're kind of becoming more dynamic. And I, and the bet on Kosa is a, is a pretty good one. Like I think that he can be a good gold tender. It's just a, you traded Paturka, who again, like his, his baseline is 25 goals for essentially, like a scratch ticket. Yeah. And I, I do love the fit of Kosa there because he's someone who had been surpassed in, or passed over, I should say, in Detroit. Here, he's going to play in the NHL. I'm pretty sure he's out of options. He's going to stay in, he's going to play in the NHL. And he's playing behind a guide that you can run into the fucking ground if you need to. That's why I like the Kosa bet is because play him as much as works out. You don't have to run the milk into the ground. And if it doesn't, and if it's going to take a little longer, you can make the split more considerably. Yeah, he 20 in his favor. It's okay. They're playing fewer games this season. Don't worry, Carl, you're going to be okay. So like while I don't really love buying a scratch ticket in a young gold tender, I understand why Utah is doing it. Yes. To the Winnipeg Jets, I've actually been very excited to talk about this team. Last season, the Jets did not get otherworldly gold tending. So they were bad this season. I don't know what kind of gold tending they're going to get, but is Connor Halibuk getting moved? And what is coming back when they do it? We've asked that question a bunch, but I feel unprepared to talk about the Jets. And their chances of being good this year, which I think exist, until I know what did you get for this guy? I mean, there's the worst case possibility too, which is that they don't trade him and he doesn't play. Yeah, I think that if they get a piece on, if they get a piece or two on offense, plus whatever futures for Halibuk, I kind of don't hate the Jets this season. That might be my most controversial opinion of this episode. I mean, I'm not going to, I don't think there's a situation where I hate them. I just don't know where any sort of belief is coming into the picture, because I still think that they have largely been a one line team up front in terms of like where they rely on most of their production. I think that's going to largely remain the same. Vigo Bjork is very exciting to me, but that's also a very, very early stage player that I'm excited about. And it also seems like they might be rushing him to just have something exciting happen other than Stu, which we'll talk about in a second, but their defense is really good. And I think the, like one of my favorite signings of the off season is Mario Ferraro to the Jets. We talked a little bit about it with Anthony Mantha. The there are players that you say buyer beware. Don't sign this guy. He's going to get overpaid. He's not that good or he was just a flash in the pan last year. Mario Ferraro is a player who was a top four top pairing number one, whatever you want to call it, defenseman in San Jose, who got absolutely fucking devoured. And he looked terrible because Mario Ferraro is not a great player. Everyone was worried their team was going to sign him or trade for him last season to be something that he's not. He goes to the Jets, a team that has anchors already on each of its top two pairings. And right now Mario Ferraro looks like he will be a third pairing defenseman for the Jets. He could be really good there. Like he's not, he's going to have the exact opposite. They couldn't unless, unless like Morrissey and Samberg get hurt, they couldn't put him in the position he was in in San Jose if they fucking wanted to. I don't think. And yeah, I mean, you can't replicate San Jose's blue line anywhere across the NHL. But yeah, he looked the worst he's going to look. And now he's freed to just be a kind of solid player on a third pairing. And third pairings sometimes don't even have solid players. So I think that there's, we're just going to have to recalibrate our brains completely with Mario Ferraro. And I do not want to take up much of this preview talking about Mario Ferraro. But I thought that that was like a stealth when I revisited a lot of the offseason moves. And I was like, oh yeah, he went to the Jets. That was smart for him. Smart for him, but I just don't know how much he moves any sort of needle. Like he's like pretty replacement level. Yeah, he's like, that's where, that's like what he profiles as. I don't think that that's going to be some sort of celebration for the Jets that they got a player in a position where they profile as being. But that's not where he pro like that's not where anybody thought he was going to end up. This is a, and I know the no one wants to sign in Winnipeg blah blah blah. Like this is a better case scenario for him as a player than if he had taken, uh, then if he like went to Anaheim instead of Jacob Truba. Yeah, I just like, I don't be an important guy for us. He doesn't have to be important there. They're here. They're saying come be a good guy for us. Yeah. I mean, like I guess I never really considered, I thought that you would get overpaid because you because of the market and because of how thin the defensive market was. But I didn't really consider him miscast as being like a savior. For some other blue line. I just thought the teams would say, Hey, we need a guy you can play a lot of minutes and blah blah. Okay. Well, we can stick him in there. And I think mercifully for everyone that's not happening. Let's move on. That's not an interesting topic. Uh, but I mean, I mean, if we want to put a bow on the Jets thing, like I think that the Jets are going to be kind of in trouble this year based off of the goal tending situation, not being able to bail them out. We saw them what they are without great goal tending last year. And I think you can probably expect that again this year. Okay. Can I give you a number 895? Do you think that Stuart Skinner can have that as a starting goalie for the Winnipeg Jets this season? I think that that is a, um, a, attainable, but I think it's an attainable number. I don't expect him to get much higher than that. I think that's an attainable number. That's what Connor Hellbuck was for them last year. And they were 500. Right. So like if Bjork is something and they're a little better around the margins, I'm not calling them a playoff team, but I think that they can be a watchable team this year that maybe at some point goes on a winning streak. I will say Stuart Skinner once again has found himself in a position he did not expect. Once again, he was, he's not, was not supposed to be the starter. He, in fact, chose which team he wants to chose to go to the team with like the, where like the goal tender was the most important part of that team's makeup. And then suddenly that team was, that element was just removed entirely. He chose to be one of the best backups in the NHL in what would be the best goal tending tandem in the NHL Connor Hellbuck and a guy that's gone to two Stanley Cup finals. That sounds pretty damn good. If I'm a Winnipeg Jets fan, instead, once again, not only is Stuart Skinner the starter, once again, he is the starter and only hope. Do you? How do you just keep happening to that guy? Do you don't think he might have known that there was a trade request put in? Like, I mean, how have you made it sound like it had been, it had been made a while ago. I don't know. I don't know whether he said he made it. Timeline's lined up, but. Yeah, he said, I mean, he did say he made it either at the beginning of the off season or maybe at break up day. So maybe they knew, but maybe that's attractive. I mean, everybody wants to be his starter, I suppose. So maybe they were like, hey, worst case, you're the best backup in the league or something like it. And best case, you are definitely going to be a fan favorite because, oh, my God, Jets, I don't know if it's if I'm just seeing Jets Twitter or if I'm just like on stew Twitter or something with my algorithm, are you seeing what Jets fans are doing with Stuart Skinner? Seeing it right there. They love him so much. There's a tweet that, as a meme, it says, hey, I'm Connor Hellerbuck and, hey, I'm Stuart Skinner. Jets fans love Stuart Skinner. Much like Penguin's fans, absolutely loved Stuart Skinner. He's a likable guy. He's a good player who finds himself in some maybe not good situation. Sometimes, and he has bad games like the rest of us do. But I think the Jets can be better than expected. Or they could just be a team that was left for dead by their star player and vibes are so horrible that you can't make up for that. Let me ask the question, which division is stronger top to bottom? The central or the Atlantic? Gun to my head. I would have said Atlantic out of the rip off the rip. Like, best teams overall, I think I like the top of the central better than I like the top of the Atlantic. But as you get to the bottom of it and you're looking at like the senators, senators are a pretty good team. I don't know if I feel like it's a safer, I feel like it's safer to say that the central, yeah, I'm saying central actually, like Chicago's the only team that I look at there being like, they could not really happen in this year. The other ones like every other team I could be like, there's a chance they make some noise this year. Redwings I would say not really happening this year, but you also forget Redwings were kind of good last year until they weren't that's the story that they were. Redwings had 92 points last year. That's crazy. That is fucking crazy because they are a team that I am certain is going to miss the playoffs. Mm hmm. What the fuck do I know we're guessing and making all this shit up? All right, to the pillow fight division. Last season, the Anaheim ducks reached the second round thanks to young players who would surely not end up being part of a crippling offseason. Now they're worse and it's tough to say that a team has both arrived and gone to the bathroom for a little bit. They've arrived, but they are in the bathroom right now. They're not here right now. Right. I don't know. I'm trying to figure out a better way to put it, but like they've they arrived and they immediately did the grandpa Simpson. Yeah. They arrived circled and I believe left. But can you say that when they arrived, thanks to young players who are all still there? Yeah, because the back end has like not thoroughly changed. No. Owen Zellweger is gone. He picked up the playoffs. Their defense is reminiscent of the San Jose sharks. And I say that with every bit of insult. That back end is a fucking mess. I mean, Jackson Lakomzev, Pablo Minchikov, we'll see what he is. But the right side of their defense horrific. And you say reminiscent to be literally looking back as because like you're not talking about the current shark's defense. They would love to like the ducks would love to have the current shark's defense. Correct. Yeah. You are talking about the Mario Ferraro duck's defenses. Yes. Hey, that half a season where we had Cody C C sure was fun sharks defense. I think that that is the most gaping hole and obvious hole on a potential playoff team that exists like more so than the panthers with goal tending because I think it's so concerning that I I don't think they're making the playoffs. That fucking sucks, man. You just got there. It's not you did everything right. I'll say it. I genuinely believe the San Jose sharks have a better chance of making the playoffs. So do I. So do I. I'm ducks. I think the we'll get to it with the sharks. Sean and I are sharks, boys. Oh, what is what is all hockey stats think about that take in the Pacific, the playoff percentage 48% for the San Jose sharks and 38% for the Anaheim ducks. Damn. Yeah, can you please not ever say gaping hole again? What are holes? If not gaping. I just hate that word so much. It is literally. I mean, I guess they're it's redundant to say gaping hole. I suppose it is. I suppose. Yes. So you agree. Holes are gaping. I should fucking hate the word, man. I hate it. It wouldn't be because gay is in it. No, that is not why. It's absolutely not why. Yeah, the ducks, it is a really, really disappointing turn for a team that I found extraordinarily fun for most of last year. Also, don't laugh. Chris Crider's a loss. Like they got Chris. Oh, yeah. And that was kind of cool. I think that we were all saying like I we love Frank, but like if they had to dump some salary, I wish that it would have been Frank for Toronto, like that he plays a less important role in that team than Chris Crider does. You know, plays an important role. Alex Cologne. The newly extended with a I love Alex Cologne, you know that. The newly extended with no trade rights at some point in his contract, Tim Washey. Sean, give us a couple minutes on Tim Washey. Just. I don't know who he is. What's that? And honestly, like the breakout player of the 2026 NHO playoffs. That was like the one guy who I went into the playoffs and I literally had never fucking heard of them. And then I watched a playoff. Yeah, I'm going to say that's what a breakout fucking player should be because we've done it before. Like never like that. That's Jarvis might break out this postseason. It's like how's he going to break out. He's set Jarvis. Yeah. Like we already know we I like the I like it being somebody who you had literally never seen before in your life, despite watching his team's games. So there's two brands of breakouts. There's there's breakouts for sickos who watch like every game and we know every player in the league until Tim Washey comes along and I like the fuck is that guy? And then there's breakouts for like fringe fans who were like, I know a little bit. I know I can name like the best two players in every team. Hey, who's this Seth Jarvis guy? I haven't paid close enough attention and us, we say, let me tell you a little bit about Seth Jarvis. Ah, so you'd like to know about Seth Jarvis, man, I can refer you to and sit down. He had with Bugs Bunny that could definitely fill in some of the gaping spaces in your mind. I didn't say a hole. I said space. Yeah, but now fucking chats doing gap emojis, there are gap emojis. Go up to metal stoves. Please don't show it on stream. It's a gap to break. Come on, brother, I hate that terrible terrible terrible behavior so many times last episode game is a bridge too far for you. Yes, there are a couple of verbal issues that come with the word gap that I want to avoid. I'm trying to think, is there are there any gap names that you can do with ducks, players? I don't know, because I only know like three names on their defense. How much better can Cutter Goatier get? Because he was like I had to watch him as an opponent and that's one of the most terrifying, like in the first round of playoffs last year watching the Euler's against Cutter Goatier. Every time they took a penalty, I was inconsolable because that is such a fucking dangerous player. I think the situation they're in, if they want to make the playoffs, is like, they need those young guys who got a Cajillion dollars to get even better and Leo Carlson definitely needs to get a lot better to be worth the contract that he got. But I think he's going to keep getting better and I think that he is fucking, that he's an outstanding player, but like, how much better realistically are those guys getting this year? Sean, can you do a quick numbers crunch for me? What are Cutter Goatier's odds for the Rocket Richard trophy because I think he can get that much better. Yeah. I think that Cutter Goatier can absolutely win the Rocket Richard, like this year. I like that. I can't. He's going to play with Leo Carlson and you know that he's going to fucking shoot the puck. Yeah. Cutter, you're looking for Goatier's odds? Yeah. Yes. Cutter Goatier. I don't know if they offer him. I mean that that's a plus 2700, excuse me, plus 2700, 2700, tied with a Tage Thompson right behind David Posterdog. I like that. So it's tied for a second. I don't know, he is tied for like, it's, uh, it's, It's McKinnon, then Leon, Caprizov, Matthews, and Caulfield are tied. Celebrini, McDavid, Wyatt Johnson, Jason Robertson, David Postronach, and then Cutter Dota and Tage Thompson are tied. I could see Leon. Pretty neat out of that list. I could see Leon having the most pointless rocket recharge season because he's going to fucking play with McDavid. I think that especially with the ducks being such a bad defensive team, we're probably going to give up a bunch of goals, they're going to have to score in track meets. I like this fun fact about Cutter Gojay that I don't know if it's true, but according to hockey reference, he was drafted by the Philadelphia flyers. First, I'm hearing of this born in Sweden. Yes. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I did not know that. He's got a little kairidum. Did not know that. Yeah. Fun. Kairi Irving. I can't really. Kairi. He wants to wake out. How to score the biscuit ball, man, Australian basketball really should have been special. Australia traders at the round table, those as like, you know, the time it is. It's time for you to work out. He was the traitor and they're arguing at the round table and someone's like, hey, we need to work out the problem. Hey, stop, stop accusing me. We're all here to work that to work out who the traitor is. Amazing. Uh, last year, the Calgary flames were bad and traded Rasmus Anderson, Mackenzie Weeger and Nazim Kodry. This year is their last year at Scotiabank Saddle Dome. That's the most interesting thing I can say about this year. They do have young defensemen, Simone Nemitz and Zane Perek. Carson carols is in the pipeline, I suppose, but I don't think he's going to play in the NHL this season. Probably not. That would seem like a rush job. They are that we look devotees of the show will know that we kind of nailed the perfect description of what the Calgary flames are right now. And that is that they're go find the clip involves a bird dying. Oh, yeah, that you spray with water because you can't tell if it's alive and it moves a little bit, but then you go back the next day and the bird is still in that same spot. You want them to move. You want good things to happen to them, and I think that they do have good things happening to them on the way because Corey Proudman has them as the eighth best prospect pool. I don't know how much good that does them right now. Up front, Matt Vey Gridden will play his first full season, you had a promising showing in 37 games last season. I think that if you're hopeful for the flames, I love that Pete is like, I'm not saying no fucking word to her in this. I have. Yeah. Let me try to keep doing a little flames shot. I applaud your effort. Yeah. You know, I'm not doing great, but I am fucking very battling battling for you, buddy. Can Dustin Wolfen, Devin Cooley and the young defenseman, I guess, make this team worth watching and can like one more guy emerge that you're like, ooh, flames have somebody. Here's what I'm not betting on a goal-tending duo making a team worth watching. Yeah. A goal-tending duo never makes a team worth watching. Oh, right. Because then they're just in line. You're just watching a goal tender. Keep his team in games that they don't deserve to be in, and you're like, this is going to be weird. I know. This is bad. Yeah. Calgary flames fans were spying in there, survived this season and hope that for once you get some lottery luck praying for you, oh, boy. Will you get a 2004 jersey? No. I think those jerseys are worse than the ones that they wore in normally. Why would I want one of those? Well, you might get one. We're going to talk soon about our fanatics. Who can you possibly I mean, I guess you could just choose. Once I find out who's on that team and you once I find out that team, I can get this. There's a list of 22 guys I can get you. You don't know. Had Joel Faire be jersey is going to hit. Last season, the Edmonton Oilers were caught off guard by defense and goal-tending being important. Now, they have a coach that only they wanted that seems to and a team that seems to be taking things even more seriously, which I'm not sure is a good thing. And I'll set you up to talk about the Edmonton Oilers. Kick us off. We got in the Edmonton Oilers. I think that they can very easily be back to being the best show on TV. I am not selling any sort of like, well, this team was exposed last year. I think last year was a very weird year. I think a lot of things went wrong. I don't know what Mike Babcock is going to turn them into, but I think that Mike Babcock, if he behaves himself, can be a good NHL coach. I think that this team has a lot to prove. They have a lot of talent and very easily could be back to being a contending team. Yeah. The Oilers are good and they have a good roster with great players. I want to do in a quick crunch right now. Hold on. 31, I'm going to do 31 divided by 58. That's 0.534, 0.534 times 82. And you get 44. What's the significance of the number 44? Is that how many games or how many, is that Stu's war? Zach Hyman did not play last season and he still scored 31 goals. I think that that is an under-disgust and I don't know how much people need to discuss how many goals Zach Hyman scores. He scores a lot of goals, but I think that people look at the Oilers and they think like, well, just Connor and Leon and their buddies and they're just going to keep trying to run at this and everything and knew just getting old and how much longer is Hyman going to be Hyman. I think that's 4 years old Zach Hyman scored 31 goals in 58 games last season. So he would have scored. That was a 44 goal pace. He is still awesome. Ryan Newgen Hopkins, I think is starting to get a little long in the tooth. I think that eventually whether it's Matt Savoy or somebody else, I think that maybe you can say, okay, maybe give that guy a shot in the power play over Ryan Newgen Hopkins. Ryan Newgen Hopkins also has like the potential to age into a different player and still be very useful. He can Greg Maddox himself or Corey Perry himself. Better example. Yeah. Same sport. Even same team. Yeah. I've got points. Oilers, great. I don't love the Oilers forward depth though. I think that I would do different things with their offense than Mike Babcock is going to. I think that Mike Babcock intends to play Conor McDavid and Leon Drysaddle together at home. I think he wants to force other players to prove that they can do well in a big spot. It's that's super Mike Babcock. He loves kind of leaving players out to dry to see if like you can survive that. Well, you're good now and you can play against anybody and that's great and you can develop players. You're just like basically for lack of a term, like throwing a kid into the pool. I wanted to do that. But I want him to do it with kids. I would like to spread out, Mick David and Drysaddle. I would like to play Howard and Savoy with those guys. I would like for them to have a fourth line and they won't do this because Babcock loves to have a fourth line that he can play against first lines. I would love for them to have a fourth line that is Howard Samansky and Quinn Hudson because your third line, you already have Jason Dickinson on your roster. That's already, and you already have Trent Frederick on your roster. You're already going to have to have like a cap and in Frederick Dickinson kind of thing that's really hard to play against anyway. So spiritually you're saying like their third line will be their fourth line. Yeah. So then just use the fourth line as like an experimental, let's see what we have. I don't disagree with that. I would love to do that because I've seen, I don't think I Howard look good last night. And I'm starting to have some questions about I coward. Now know if his confidence is there or what, but I coward needs to be a thing. And I think that one way of doing that is play him with the people he played with in Baker's field and be like, hey, you're the fucking star episode with the HL. Yeah, I mean, I'm you're selling me on this idea. I do think that sometimes we get caught up in like assigning numbers to lines and assigning identities to lines based off of those numbers. But if you have your third line, which is essentially your checking line and your shutdown line, why not replicate what worked in the AHL and see if that helps guys at the NHL level where they haven't found that success? A lot of activity this off season for the Oilers obviously. In addition to saying goodbye to Chris noblock and bringing in Mike Babcock, they shuffled their goal tending defense, everything. Just stuck with Tristan Jari, obviously, so they traded for Devon Levi and signed Freddie Anderson that on defense, Darnell Nurse is out, Ryan Shay is in, they resigned Connor Murphy and they got Shakir MacModulin in the Darnell Nurse trade. They let Jack Ross Lubbock walk, but they kept it. and Kasperry Kappenon. As I said, I don't really love their forward depth, but we'll see they also signed Alex Fomenton last week. They are hoping that if they just call him Alex, nobody will know that they signed Alex Fomenton. Fomenton looked good in the one preseason game that he played. I'm not penciling him in as an every day player. And I would just like to stay the fuck away from Fomenton chat right now. It's possible that Ryan Shay could play with Evan Bouchard. And I think that defensively, they are going to be better this season, even though I think that Darnell Nurse is better than he's being given credit for. But I think that just like the lack of structure they had that noblox seemingly was just ignoring defense and penalty kill. I don't think Babcock's going to do that. If Shay is good with Bouchard and Bouchard was one of the best defensemen in the NHL last season, that allows them to do a very cool to me, Walman and Murphy second pairing. And then Matthias Ekholm can be a third pairing defenseman in the regular season, which I would fucking love because whether or not he wants to admit he's old, he is old and he's going to be important in the playoffs. So I see a path to them having good structure and good defense in the regular season while letting their old Viking rest up before he has to actually become like the guy again in the post season. I think that the defense is going to be a lot less exciting this year and I think that that is a very good thing for the Edmonton Oilers. Yeah. And I do like Luke Medullin and what he might be able to be there. I'm not going to bank on it, but it's a fun, it's a fun experiment that I think could have decent returns. Matt Savoy is out with lower body issue. I don't like that. I need him back. He's a fucking stud. I think that we all saw we watched some games together where we were like he's a dog. I think there's a lot of things and he is a fucking dog. He's going to emerge if healthy as one of their most important players this year. Yes. I agree. I agree. Okay. Yeah. I coward. I've said I'm I'm not putting a lot of stock in, but I will be pleasantly surprised. I hope that he is very good. Devon Levi. I would love for him to be good. I will just say to summarize the Oilers. I think they're going to be good this season. And I think I don't know if they can win the Pacific, possibly easily. I think that they have put so much pressure on themselves and they have written such a fucking check by committing to a guy that everyone said do not commit to that guy that they have to be really good just to save themselves from dying of embarrassment. They are back to being on like most interesting team in hockey watch for some of the very wrong reasons, but they are for sure interesting heading into this year. J fresh and the hockey stats dot com crew have projection projected tie at the top of the Pacific with Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers 102 points. Interesting. I think the Oilers will be better than the Knights, but we shall see Sean any Oilers thoughts? No, I just an opposite of you. I not because I haven't even personally against him. I just personally cannot have Matthews, avoid be an important piece to the best team in a division. So got to have to roof of that guy's down for it. Oh, it's not going to go well for you. I don't think it is at all. I think he's a fucking stud. That's my guy. Last season, the LA Kings made the playoffs despite having a minus 22 goal differential. We thought that maybe they didn't belong, but then famously they dictated the game. They enforced their will on the Colorado avalanche in a first round sweep, in which started as a joke, but I think aged really well. Yeah, it did because in the avalanche kept playing like they were in a series against the Kings, yeah, went by by. I'm not very excited about the Kings this season. I hate to say it. It's a big opportunity for Quentin, for Quentin Byfield to take the step that we expect him to take other than that. I don't know if the defense is going to be up to speed for what can I think of his name? Head coach. Yeah, I'm not really seeing it with the Kings this season. Brant Clark number one defenseman. Let's see how that goes. Why not? I mean, I like Brant Clark. I like Brant Clark, but I don't know if I like him as like my number one defenseman. Yeah, the Kings are a bit concerning. And I mean, like quite possibly the least interesting team in the NHL last year outside of like the Calgary Flames division where like don't really know anybody on the roster. Like you were forced to take the Kings seriously and it was just a slog to watch. Yeah, I don't go ahead on the Kings, even the least interesting team in their division respectfully who we put in in front of them. Well, I mean, other than the Flames, I think the team that we consistently said was the least interesting team in the entire league. Cracking. Yeah, but like the Kraken are I don't think the Kraken are like lack of interesting from a watching perspective. I think they're lack of interest stems from they don't really have a like a franchise identity in terms of like player and direction. They the Kings have a franchise identity. It's just like old and defensive heavy boring hockey. Yeah. So like I just think that they were a very boring watch. They lost obviously copetare retired, but they also lost because Menko, Jeff Malatt went to the ducks. I didn't know that ducks out there just spend a huge money. Forgot to shout AJ Greer. Well, yeah. Got in his bag. Matthew Joseph went to the oilers. He should possibly help that penalty kill. But in terms of what they added, is it like Eric Halla and and seen? Matsukurello. Matsukurello. Sorry. Matsukurello. Very exciting. I mean, you got a full season of our temporary panarin. Yeah. Other than that, not not super exciting in terms of additions. I think Matsukurello is going to help question is for how long. Yeah. It's just a this feels like the Kings are delaying the inevitable. Does it not? Where they're going to have to rebuild the point. That sucks, man. It feels like they're just delaying the inevitable and hanging around because they can last season. Sharky danced for the gays and against his will. Some possible racists on Hispanic heritage night. This season, the San Jose sharks actually have a defense. Those two senses have nothing to do with each other. But I think that both are very important. We had a blast with Sharky last year. They almost made the playoffs this year. I think that they are the best. This is the best roster. A McLean celebrini era sharks team has had by far. By far. Yeah. Like by because there's a semi recognizable blue line. There's a balance to that team. It's a bunch of young forwards who are sick and granted they swapped one out by getting rid of William Eckland. Boohoo. You just replace him with Ivar Stenberg who already I don't know if you've watched any preseason. He's already kind of doing tricks with it. He's he's helicoptering it. Yeah. Yeah. He's I told you I can say. Yeah. Yeah. You did a lot of tape saying a lot of tape saying Ivar Stenberg is the guy. I love Ivar Stenberg. And I really, really like this shark's lineup upfront, at least. If Michael Mesa can be a number two center and like really establish himself as that for this team. Playoff team. Yeah. Important moves up front. They traded Eckland to the senators. Got Stenberg. They signed Mason Marchment as well. I kind of forgot about that. This team does have some spunk in addition to young talent because they have Marchment. They have key for Sherwood. So that's great there. Biggest moves. I would say most important ones were made on the back end. Ferraro to Jets. Sign Jacob Truba. Traded for Darnell Nurse and Michael Kesselring. Shakira Muck Medulin went out in that trade for a nurse. I think that defense is representative. It is an NHL defense. It's not very good. I mean, to meet you all I was still back there guys. Guys are where I actually know because I would rather Jacob Truba and Darnell Nurse not have to log the minutes they will. But those are guys who are experienced in doing that. And I don't think that there are players who are really like fucked in on an island. The way that they were in the last few years where that felt like certain players were victimized by having important roles on the shark's defense. That's not going to be the case as much. They missed the playoffs by four points last year. You mentioned Michael Misa. I think we talked about the other day like the most obvious spongebob font breakout candidate this year is Michael Misa making a second year leap. Sharks are going to be good man. I do the one thing I would maybe question is I wonder if this offseason would have been a good time to like swap out Ryan Orosovsky for a J Woodcraft like get someone who is a teacher slash driver to the airport. But I would be very surprised if they're not like last year they overachieved to be where they were to be four points out of the playoffs. I think that this year being for points out of the playoffs could be them just operating at their baseline. Yeah. I think that's pretty fair. Evar Stenberg. By the way, I do always say I ever learned that at some point. Yeah. I mean, I think that a lot is being banked on expectations of like these players taking a step forward or the first step in the case of Stenberg, but this is a team that I'm very, very excited about. Yeah. They're going to rock to watch last season Seattle Kraken fans threw hats on the ice for a hat trick that didn't happen. This year they want to make Jason Robertson regret not signing there. We've talked a lot about the Kraken. No, we haven't. When we talk about the Kraken, we talk a lot about how sad it is and how we want them to be better, we want them to be exciting. They tried. They tried to get Jason Robertson. They did trade for Mackie Samuskevich, which is not the most exciting thing in the world, but I really like that move for them. They did keep Bobby McMahon. I liked that for them. They've obviously got a goalie that we love in Joey DeCord. There are things to like in Seattle. It's just not good enough. I like that they know they have to make this wing. Like they tried to get Penaer and they tried to get Robertson and they just keep striking out on these, which is a problem in itself. That's a different kind of problem, but I like that they know that they have to get better and they have to add top to your talent. But going back to the conversation that we just had about the Kings, somebody in the chat put it better than I could and more eloquently that I could. The Kings are boring to watch. The Kraken are boring to follow. Yeah. And that sucks. Yeah. That sucks. They have a 6% chance of making the playoffs. I would give them a 0% chance of making the playoffs, but I wouldn't say 0. We see boring teams mid teams make the playoffs in each year. Like there is one team that just kind of finds a way to do it. And if there's a division to do it in, I was going to say, let's get them to the playoffs right now. Okay. This would mean LA falls out. That would mean the sharks don't do it. That would mean the ducks don't do it. Yeah. You know what? We can give them third team in the, I mean, it still wouldn't rule out. It would be crazy, but like the Babcock thing being such a fucking mess that the Oilers aren't capable of skating. I don't see that happening. But no, I could give them, yeah, I'll give them a 6% chance. I will agree exactly with Jay Fresh, 6% chance. We can do that there. Okay. Let's see. Last season, the Vancouver Connux traded Quinn Hughes, finished dead last in the NHL and lost the draft lottery. And we cannot rule that, we cannot rule out that being JT Miller's fault. This year, they've got a new coach, they drafted Caleb Malhotra, right? They did. Yeah. They have a new front office. Hey, hey, hey, hey, they should be the worst team in the NHL again, right? Unless Ali is Patterson, does tricks on it, like I thank you all. They're definitely going to be hanging around worse in the NHL, I would guess. Connux have the worst chance per Jay Fresh of making the playoffs at a 2% chance. And unlike the flames, there's not like pageantry going on this year. At least the flames are like, ah, tradition. Last year here, the Connux, I think, are just like buckle up. Well, I also think that the Connux are like, they've hit the reset button on the front office on the coach. And I think that when I hit the reset button on the coach a year after hitting the reset button on the coach, I think that got to exercise the button. Yeah. It's like when you go on vacation, you need someone to come and flush and listen. Credit for acknowledging your mistakes and quickly moving on from them. At least there's that. At least that there is a, this is page one in a new book. Yep. Let's finish up with the Vegas Golden Knights. Last season, the Knights were hopeless against playoff teams until they hired John Torturella and then somehow won the Western Conference. What's going on there? Everything okay, Sean? That's what we are now. I don't know. We do have new mic cables. So it could be that. I don't know what happened. It worked up. Apologies if there was any noise there. It was the Sean's little stain thing got in the audience signal. Yes. Yes. But Golden Knights actually won the Western Conference last season. This year, they did not bring towards back. They still let him go and replaced him with Ryan Craig. That gives the Vegas Golden Knights a veteran team, a first time NHL head coach. They did not make big moves outside of trading, Pavel Dorfiev and resigning guys, Rasmus Anderson, Jeremy Loseon. They still the best team in the Pacific are they were ever the best team in the Pacific. Right, right. That's the thing. They shockingly finished, right? Didn't they? Yeah, they did because they played a Utah in the first, that's fucking crazy. They fired their coach with like 10 days left in the season and won the division. I think I watched so much of the bad Vegas Golden Knights last year and got so used to how feeble they were that even watching them tear through the Western Conference has not erased them being an unserious team from my brain. Like I still look at the Golden Knights and I'm like, whatever. Well, I mean, the argument like in the playoffs when they started to turn things around was like, this was a team that was good goal tending away from being a respectable team and being the team that we see now. You got that for a month, month and a half? Where's the level of confidence that the goal tending is going to be any better? I think they need an Aden Hill bounce back here like big time. You want to commit to that? Well, I mean, they're already committed to that. No, I know, but I'm saying like how I can, it's easy to say that that they need that. You want Michael D.P. Maybe the best goalie in the NHL, yeah, I mean, would love for a lot of things to happen. Yeah. Look at us. But wanting things. I'm just asking, I'm asking how much better is the goal tending situation? They had it for a month and change and then they, they really quickly did it again. I think an NHL goalie, which is Carter Hart, Carter Hart is an NHL goalie. People are going to take that out of context and say they're mad Carter Hart's an NHL goalie. The Carter Hart is like the J.Fresh is a goalie thing. He's fine sometimes. He's really good because that's what NHL goalies are and he was really good for a stretch last year and then he was fucking terrible. And I don't look at him as a player that I'm like, all right, so they're set at goal tending. I think if everything else is good, then they're okay. But here's the thing about Vegas, too, is that if they don't have something, they're just going to go out and get it because they're that aggressive, obviously the money's tight. Yeah, but they have ammunition now with thanks to the door fee of trade. True. They have picks. They have at least, I think they have a third and a first still left over from that trade. So I'm looking at them and I think their line up's pretty good. The goal tending question mark is still obviously a question mark. I am not going to overreact to first year head coach because I think that we've been proven over the past however many years that like that's not necessarily a poison pill. Yeah. Like the even Dan Muse last year was incredible. I looked at that guy. I was like, bad roster guy who looks like he was a substitute teacher. Was a substitute teacher. I think this is a bad news and Dan Muse was awesome. So I don't know what the coaching is going to be like. I will allow that for that to be like a big step back for this team because towards clearly unlocks something in them. But I think this is a team that's probably going to make the playoffs. I just don't expect them to win the division. Yeah. Do you think that the Pacific is going to be a pillow fight again? Yeah. I think that it's going to be tougher to be I think that at least one team will be like really solid. And my guess is that's probably the oilers that like they will set the pace for the division and then it's hard to call it a pillow fight because last year teams really were just passing it around just trying to just like does anyone want to be good for three games and it seemed like it was the ducks for a while. Then it seemed like it was the sharks and everyone took turns and it turns out everybody was just kind of mid except for the team that caught fire and went to the Western conference final. You have some? Yeah. All right. That's we got through all the teams. Do you want to just give me a few teams that you like? I would love to have hinted at it throughout the course of this whole thing. But if I'm doing like buying stocks type buying stock of politics, it's buying stocks on teams that might be on the lower side based off of what they've been over the past few years. Devils number one. Devils, I am for sure buying in on I'm prepared to be made a fool. And look stupid. Not seeing this coming once again. I'm going to buy on the Washington capitals really, really like their forward group. I'm going to buy on the St. Louis Blues. I'm going to buy on the Ottawa Senators, just based off of a team power. purely by spite. And then I'll throw like a tie between the sharks and the mammoth. I think two teams that were expecting to continue some momentum, but very, very fun high energy teams in the sharks and mammoth. I like the, yeah, I think that the mammoth I think are an easy team to sleep on. But they last year was their Cinderella year like their last year, everybody came in was like, you know what? I think the Utah mammoth could make the playoffs. Yeah. And they did, but weren't ready. I think this year is a year that they can prove that they're ready. And now the like they'll probably, they could finish. Actually, no, I was going to say they can finish a little higher in the standings, which would help them. But you're probably looking at a wild card if you're playing in the central. But yeah, a full year McKenzie-weager. They're going to be like, Tro check is a good ad. I always wanted Dursy to be more there than I think he ended up being. So maybe that loss won't be as crippling. I do think that's a good pick up for the Rangers though. Okay. Let's do a little sports interaction. Okay. You're not going to meet teams that you, you like St. Louis Blues. Edmonton Oilers, he's so funny. If you're just like blues, that's it. I kind of want to do blues and keep the change. Blues. I think the flyers will make the playoffs again. Wow. And it's like I'm ordering off a menu here. I like this. And you know what? Give me. And capitals have an a 41% chance of making the playoffs is great. They fucking better after all that shit. Yeah. I think the Metro, I think four teams from the Metro make the playoffs. And it's the hurricanes. It's the devils. It's the flyers. And it's the capitals. I sadly, sadly do not see it for the blue jackets. Yeah. I mean, I don't have any bold predictions other than watch out for. Oh, you know what? I'll give you the jets having a 62% chance of making the playoffs from Jay Fresh is crazy. I'll just say the jets will be better than we think they're going to be. And maybe that means making the fucking playoffs. How do the fuck do they have a central team in the central division? Would they? That's unbelievable to me. That is, that is truly like, I'm such a jetsator. A pretzel. How? Yeah. They play in the central. So they are not going to win one of this. They're not going to get one of the spots in their own division. So you're locking in a team with 62% chance of making the playoffs when we're talking about them as a wild card team. Damn. He's got to not have faith in. Well, he doesn't have faith in the blues. Maybe the model just loves to escape. He doesn't have faith in the sharks or ducks either. Yeah, the model loves to skinner. And who am I to argue? Chad asks wonder if that's with Connor hellbuck. Well, Connor hellbuck had an 895% edge last season. So yeah, but it's nobody's like the best gold tenderer in the league for the larger sample. Wasn't it hurt at points last year two? What's up? Wasn't he hurt at points last year two? It wasn't just a normal car box season. Yeah, right. So like it was a weird year for Winnipeg. Yeah, I mean, I'm guessing the model is probably putting hellbuck in there. Well, let's do segment brought to you by sports interaction sportsbook in casino. Since this is a season preview, look at the futures for the Stanley Cup champion leading the way Florida Panthers plus 650 Colorado avalanche plus 700 Caroline Hurricanes plus 750 and then the Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights tied at plus 900. Anyone in there you like? I like Carolina. Like there's I just think that Carolina there's no reason to believe that they can't do it again. And if you're a buyer in the like, well, Florida will be there this year or it's not a lock to meet them at any point. True. I'm kind of I kind of want to throw something on the Panthers and the Hurricanes because it's those seem like the two teams that are like, well, one of them's getting. Yeah. Yeah. Just one of them is going to be there. I think one of those teams is going to be there. Well, they'd be able to beat Tristan Jari. I don't know, but at that point, it's a coin flip. I don't like their chances. I don't. I mean, because you think at that point, Tristan Jari, it's the Michael Scott, like it went. I'm retired on my yacht and I'm looking back. I mean, if Tristan Jari got there, yes, it has happened. He's like, well, I have a yacht. So things worked out. Right. I was going to say, who, if the, if the oilers are in the Stanley Cup final, who do you think is going to be the goalie? I mean, if my small goalie, you may not have even heard of them at this point. I am. Yes, been born. Yes. I, if the oilers get to the Stanley Cup final with Devon Levi is their goalie, I will spend an entire fucking episode sowing a million Stanley Cup patches to a Devon Levi jersey. So I have like the fucking ultra Devon Levi and your Edmonton oilers are going to be like a final. It's going to be a two horse race for Consmouth between Devon Levi and Matt Savoy. Matt Savoy. I was going to say the new producer. Dude, there's going to be a picture of Devon Levi handing the cup to Matt Savoy and I'm going to quite actually set myself on five. That kind of does sound like the order, by the way. Yeah. Yeah. That would, those two would be around the same time. I mean, the only problem is that like if if Devon Levi is the goalie, that wins the oilers Stanley Cup, I have to imagine he's going to be like pretty high of that list. I think the first five are probably spoken for. He's sending it to me. But then the goalie is going to get it. Yeah. Or they do the, well, I guess they can. I was going to say they do the panthers thing of giving it to guys who haven't won yet. One yet. Here you go Alex. The oilers are going to win the Stanley Cup and just put Alex on it. Yes. Yeah. Ran out of space. We put a few of the kaitzes on there. No space. No. Don't do it. Oh boy. What a fun time. I was going to get left off of the cup because they had to put owners families and he just didn't really, he wasn't really a part of it at that point. I'll say if the oilers got to the Stanley Cup final, I could see Pete doing a Matsavoy like Cup Final Jersey. I could really see you in a, I think I would, I would love to see you in a, in a Matsavoy jersey. I love the way jerseys fall on you. I like the way that you accessorize them. You're usually doing some sort of sweatshirt and then it's like tight against your body the way you wear it and it's just all very compact and very good. I think the twos of the jersey would look fantastic on you. Thank you. I like double numbers. Yeah. See? Do I know? Do I know? Do I know my guy or do I know my guy? Do some super chats. Super chats. Renee says buy field fought last night. Hell yeah. Cool. Don't know if I want that in preseason. But I respect the energy. Generic Red Circle says chaos extra visible for buy, buy visibility day hashtag allies. Hell yeah. Is today by visibility day. Chat was certainly making it seem so every day you're progressive enough. That's right. That's your point. You guys absolutely lost the chat and the chat was only doing I scape and buy and whatever name. I think that was right around when we were starting oilers chat, which honestly is for the best. It's like better. We basically we just kind of do our little thing there and you do your thing over there and Devdar says Pete, we took no chances and buried the best dog on the market. The legendary Costco dog was buried and not only did we have no rain, we had glorious wedding weather. Thanks for the pro tip. Tell me about that. Remember when I said bury the sausage and people are like, I was in a second and I was like, no, you literally bury a sausage if you're worried about the weather. Oh, yeah. We did that before our wedding had great weather. So I'm glad that a different kind of meat casing still works. Shout out to Costco dog. Megan Stagg says cheers to the end of an era sports interaction name studio and the start of a new one. Happy hockey season boys. Thank you very much. The part that is battalion, the original chicken sandwich from Burger King is the most disgusting and delicious dinner ever. Yeah, the real chef's not going to lie. I will forever love them my only shame. Yeah. If that's your only shame, you're doing pretty good. That is I want they must have been fucked during the whole like no lettuce thing because that sandwich famously is something that looks a little bit like chicken and has so much salt and is so fucking good. And then lettuce. And then mayo is what I think I was going to say equal parts chicken mayo and lettuce, I would say. Yeah. Which is not normally what you'd want out of a chicken sandwich. That plus a sprite top 10 meal in America luxury trash. Any word from the WCL you on the hilarious mass lesbian bar mass do I read it yesterday yesterday. It's insane. I fucking love it. I love libs. I love. I'm going to say that's my fucking family. We've talked a bit about woke 2.0. I don't know if this would be like woke 0.0 to like like still be losing your mind over a mass mandate in 2026 or if it is like woke 3.0 where we've just we've steered so hard into the old woke that it created an entirely new woke. Oh no. Yeah. No. This seems like OG like 2020 woke to me. Yeah. But there was a point what he's saying is like the original one is mutating to such a degree that it's creating an entirely new woke. Oh no. This just seems like this is like textbook. Go ahead Sean. No. It just seems like textbook woke 1.0. I think there was a point in time where like homo sapiens and like other homo species existed at the same time. And this is what it feels like to me where it's like there's still some people hanging on to woke 1.0. But generally speaking, there is a more advanced version of woke that that is that is taking over. It sucks too that I know what you're talking about with woke 1.0 that woke 1.0 is like kind of the dumb white person version of was in the plot. It's having good intentions, but absolutely losing the plot. Yeah. That like what we're calling the first version of woke is already the like people misunderstanding woke and fucking it up when the train is left to station. Like I hate that woke no longer even like the woke Wikipedia page doesn't even have a like black people making sure everybody's safe and looking out for each other and like making sure no one's getting harmed. That's not even that's been like that's too long ago. Yeah. It's only the what did ridiculous white people do with it, which is like that's kind of most Wikipedia pages by now, but yeah, I'll say I thought a lot of people were talking about like if you're immunocompromised and everything like that was like that was like that those people's fucking place. So I definitely get if there was a bar that was like here's a place you can go out and you're okay. Some of the shit I saw getting thrown around at that bar though was crazy. It's like the, it's like cheers, but instead of everybody knows your name, nobody knows your face because you got a mask on the whole time. If I see your face, you are fucking fascist, I can promise you that Cindy says it's my birthday. 28 sun laps of over achievement can't wait for this upcoming season go stars, go stars happy birthday. It go birds because there's an owl in that profile picture, Emma Haven says just saying Bonjour, hi and by have you seen the video and have we figured out what hockey player said he hated the VGK because of Carter Hart. I did see that video. Did you see that one? No. You know how they do like that? Like coming off the ice. The social media manager asks the every player like here's the question of the day. The question of the day was which NHL team do you hate and why and some player said Vegas go the nights Carter Hart and then walked away. Wow. So there you go. Just one over a million internet friends. Yeah. Renee says you can skip the kings. Sorry. Didn't see that one in time. Horace says Blues play off team this season. Watch this space. I like watch this space. Emma Haven back is to say I was so happy for Mario Ferraro because he was great as a Des Moines buck and he has a great vibe which that locker room needs plus he's a great rapper signed to shark's fan. Their holidays and holiday inflatable is video is going to go crazy. Yeah. I was going to say because they they it's not like something they did it every year. There was a pretty big gap. But like when we get the like prime pretty gaping. Sure. We get like the prime celebrity Misa will Smith like that era of holiday inflatables. Maybe throwing a little key for sure would to really switch with the vibe in there. That's going to be a great video. They're going to inflate Vinny Day or nay and make him bigger than he already is finally. Oh yeah. He's not in. Nope. He's in Washington now. That's upsetting. Matt Frenderfro can you guys write me a doctor's note so that my work stops bothering me when I'm trying to watch my stories sassy hockey podcast. I loved my story and called your stories and I obviously love being called your sassy hockey podcast. Stuff a happy by visibility day came out six years ago today. I mainly want to keep seeing Sean on with Tyler and yeah I mean like I weather or not I'm on the show I'm going to continue checking in like at least once or twice a week with whatever the fuck is going on over there. I need to know what's going on over there. I need to know whether Colby Cohen is justified for why he's yelling at Johnny Lazarus that day, but I can't take my bias out of it. I'm always you just don't fucking yell at Johnny Lazarus unless you're unless you're Austin. We're calling him for treating him literally like an animal and telling everybody to treat him like an animal. I love that boy. I love nation so much. Yeah.
