We are, where are we?
She just told us the town we're in.
We all forgot it.
What was the town again?
I think it was, was it Whitesville or?
It's something Tennessee.
He doesn't even know.
What town are we in?
You don't know either, sir.
I understand.
We don't know where we are.
I think it starts with a W.
Yeah, definitely starts with a W.
But we are.
We are at the hotel.
I'm going to go ahead and warn you, this is a happy Monday after the Kentucky beats Oklahoma.
But this may be the most exhausted this car has ever been after a long five days.
The excitement of Saturday night's postgame show, which I think probably was one of the most out of control ones we've ever had.
Now, you know, it's like the next day when you're in your 40s or in Ryan's case 60s or in Mario's case 20s.
The next day hit you and it hit, I think it's hit us this morning.
We are, uh, Kentucky with a huge win over Oklahoma 21 to 13.
Ryan Lemon is here with me and is sick.
Thanks to Mario who was sick earlier.
Somebody gave it to me.
I don't know who gave it to me.
So, uh, Ryan's a little, a little sick.
So this is, here's what we're going to do.
Uh, I want it to, we're going to talk about the game, but we're also going to take your calls because it was wild on the post.
Game show.
Didn't get to take a lot.
Uh, drew will be back with us tomorrow.
He had an Epic performance, didn't he?
On the post game show.
That was drew Franklin at his best, that post game show Saturday night.
It really was.
Yeah.
Shannon, did you hear drew Saturday night?
But I've heard about them.
Oh my goodness.
We don't duck the smoke.
We climb up the chimney.
It was one of his, uh, it was one of his lines.
He said, you've probably never seen drew like that.
Have you?
He was off the rails.
He was off.
The rails video of him singing.
And I did see that.
He was singing.
I will say it just tickled me.
I went, if I were, if you were to go back and listen, I'm probably just laughing the whole time.
Just let it rain.
Right at the end of the show, you said, drew, we're going to let you go last.
And all you did, you kind of just pulled his string and sit back and let it go.
And he talked for like 13 straight minutes.
Let him go.
Pulled his string and stand back.
He just never stopped.
But the reason he was talking like that is what a absolute, what an awesome win.
Saturday.
The magic.
The magical ride continues in Norman, Oklahoma.
The cats win 21, 13.
And it was just one of those great, great weekends.
I mean, I, you've heard me say a lot over the years.
There's nothing better than being in a road game where Kentucky wins when it comes to football.
That's happened for me only a handful of times.
I mean, I was at Mark Stoops, first big win against South Carolina.
I was down there.
First big road win at South Carolina.
Don't take pictures of me.
Look.
There's no paparazzi, okay, today.
No paparazzi.
No paparazzi.
We're taking a break.
Turn that camera off today.
We, you know, I was at that one.
And that was a lot of fun.
But I would say for a football perspective, that's the most fun I've had, certainly at a road game.
In terms of the environment, the excitement of the Kentucky fans that were there.
Oklahoma fans were into it, but they weren't rude.
So it wasn't very nice.
So it wasn't like a hostile atmosphere.
And just the whole, excuse me, I sound awful, I know.
The whole trip just was, I don't know, Ryan, it was kind of magical, I'll be honest with you.
It was an all-timer.
The weekend, everything, the Kentucky crowd, the way the game played out, the post-game show.
It was one of those all-time weekends.
Pre-game show was amazing.
Unbelievable crowd for the pre-game show out there.
And you just add the whole trip.
I mean, stopping first in Evansville.
We have a crowd stopping in Springfield, Missouri, and then we have a bigger crowd stopping in Tulsa.
We have a massive crowd in the pre-game show where there's hundreds of people.
And then the most game show where people are, the police are coming to break it up.
I mean, it's a, it was unbelievable.
And then in the stadium, all the Kentucky fans that we were Kentucky fans were kind of spread out everywhere.
So there was only one real section, but there were a lot of Kentucky fans and there were, and you could hear go big blue chance in the middle of Oklahoma stadium.
You know, Mario, that was just a great, I don't even know, have you ever been to a road game before?
It's my first road game.
Yeah, I mean, well, they ain't all like this.
It was like, it was kind of like, it was kind of like a movie.
Like, you know, you, the way that you set it up, like from start to finish, you know, storybook ending.
I loved it, man.
It was, it was, I loved the way like the Kentucky fans, they wouldn't stop cheering at the post-game show.
It was just go big blue chance over and over.
Go big blue.
Go big blue.
It was one of the happy.
Yeah, it was one of the happier, just a happy environment because this, this run by this,
by Will Stein and this team, it's just unbelievable.
It is.
Like, it really is unbelievable.
And we just keep winning.
I mean, they, they have won now.
Put the South Alabama game to the side, but they have now won four straight SEC games
where they have been a touchdown underdog or more.
And three of those four have been on the road.
And three of the four have been on the road.
And like, they just keep winning.
And it is, the percentage chance of us winning all these games is,
it's got to be like one in a thousand.
I tell you what the percentage chance is.
A hundred.
Because we kicked their ass.
Shannon, I don't know if that's how percentages work.
That's what we said last week.
Yeah, the same thing.
It's a hundred percent.
What's the percentage chance we beat Oklahoma?
A hundred.
We beat them.
I'm confused.
It's true.
If you do it after the game.
It's a hundred.
That's right.
Yeah.
After the game, it is a hundred percent because it, so for people who, you know,
people who, obviously you watched it at home, you saw a game where Kentucky came out,
crushing it, and then kind of went into hibernation for two and a half quarters.
Yeah, they did.
I give the defense a lot of credit because while they gave up a lot of yards,
they kept Oklahoma from kind of blowing it open the way Alabama did.
I mean, Oklahoma drove it up and down the field for those next two and a half quarters.
But then in the fourth quarter, it was like a light switched on.
And all of a sudden, they look like a different team.
Oklahoma, we were getting pressure on the quarterback.
We were driving the ball, controlling the clock.
And Kentucky in the fourth quarter, completely dominated on the road.
I can't wait to hear Stein talk about what they decided to do in the fourth quarter.
Did that just happen naturally, that we started getting pressure on the quarterback?
Or did they have the decision, they made the decision, this is what we're going to start doing now?
It would be interesting to hear what he says because it was clear.
I mean, they had four sacks in the fourth quarter.
They only had one before that.
Yeah.
And it felt like they got pressure on him every time.
Yeah.
And I don't know if that was a change of a game plan or we just –
wore them down, which is amazing if we just wore them down
when we don't really play reserves.
Yeah.
You know, we really play the starters,
and they just keep going and going and going.
Those three big guys up front, man, Gadsden, Humphreys, Grace, and Chops,
they played a great game.
They were, you know, Oklahoma's supposed to have the great offensive line.
These NFL guys.
I think one of them got hurt during the game.
That's right.
And then Grant Godfrey had 15 tackles.
That's amazing.
Wow.
That's amazing.
You know, I mean, he had 15 tackles,
and he made a huge play on the drive that ended up in the fake field goal
that we intercepted.
He, a few plays before that, broke up a pass that was a touchdown
to their tight end, which if he doesn't break that up, they score.
And then offensively, I mean, I know we keep talking about it,
but Kenny Menchie.
He's just like.
Gets the job done.
He doesn't make mistakes.
He just doesn't make mistakes.
I mean.
You know, you can argue about, like, he's accurate.
You know, people say, well, I don't know how big an arm he has.
It doesn't really matter.
One interception in seven games.
The four SEC wins we've got, and those four wins, the opponents have ten turnovers.
You know how many we have?
Zero.
And the four wins in the SEC.
Is that right?
They have ten turnovers.
We only have zero.
Well, I mean, because you can look at stats and go, how are they winning?
For instance, our third down conversion.
Right.
Is the worst in the SEC.
Our stopping our opponent's third down conversion rate is worst in the SEC.
So, we were our worst on third down on both offense and defense.
Yet, our turnover margin.
We are plus 11.
The next closest team is plus four.
That's the difference.
It is.
I mean, that's the difference.
We don't turn the ball over.
And they do.
They had four turnovers.
Yeah.
Yeah, you said about Minchy.
He's not going to put up those gaudy numbers.
300 yards passing, three touchdowns in a game.
But he gets the job done.
Does not make mistakes.
Makes the right pass.
Makes the right decision.
And that's why they've been so successful.
And sometimes turnover margin can be a little bit lucky in the sense of a fumble fumbles
and who falls on it.
But I don't feel like ours are.
Because we don't fumble it.
Right.
We don't throw bad passes.
He makes the right play every time.
And we cause the pressure.
Like, all of Mateer's interceptions.
Were because of us.
It wasn't like, you know, maybe the one that was a pick six.
That may have been a bad throw by him.
But besides that, it was caused by our defense and the things that we did.
Yeah, the big interception that Ty got that kind of turned the game around.
That was because Mateer was getting so much pressure from our defense.
And he had to.
I mean, they were running out of time.
So, he has to force the ball there.
A huge victory.
And, you know, I want to spend today kind of going over some of the game.
We did it on the post-game show as well.
But.
I am just like, I am amazed at this whole thing.
I mean, we are in a tie for first place with Georgia.
We're in the playoffs right now.
We're in the playoffs.
We are, like, threatening to host a game.
That's right.
Almost as if they're going to eight seed in some of the games.
No, I mean, they're like, depending on where you look, they're an eight or nine seed.
Yeah.
Right?
An eight or nine seed potentially trying to host a game.
And some of them, they have us hosting, you know, hosting Ole Miss.
Going to Ole Miss.
One of them has us going to Ohio State.
I mean, come on.
I'm like, are you kidding me?
I mean, it's crazy.
And, you know, we've gotten through, on paper, the hardest part of the schedule.
That's true.
That was supposed to be the hard part.
But Drew keeps screaming, where are the hard teams?
Yeah, Drew keeps screaming, when do we play the hard teams?
Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys was screaming, when do we play the hard teams?
I mean, come on.
Yeah, this is unbelievable.
And the fan base is so.
I mean, that was the thing that was so striking.
And Norman is just how happy everybody was.
As I said, the pregame show crowd, that's the best we've ever had as far as energy, excitement,
and getting ready for the big game.
That was the best we've ever had.
But how about how this, like, fan base took over the streets of Norman after the game?
It felt like the SEC tournament.
It did.
It did, at least on that street.
I don't know what it was like on the other streets.
But on the street we were on, it felt like it was Nashville during the SEC tournament.
Yeah.
And the Oklahoma fans are so nice.
I mean, even after you won, they're like, hey, good game, guys.
Congratulations.
Hope you enjoyed Norman.
Here, you guys want a beer?
I mean, they were so nice.
Even the police officer that came up to you, you said he was kind of nice.
He wasn't.
Yeah, he wasn't bad.
A jerk or anything.
I mean, I think they hate their team, though.
It's pretty clear.
So now, you know, what's next?
Vandy.
I mean, is there.
I'm not going to look past Vandy.
Can't.
We can't.
I mean, because we're an 11 and a half point favorite.
So now the script is flipped.
It reminds me of the 2014 NCAA tournament when we were huge underdogs all the way through.
Got to the championship game, then played a team we were a big favorite on and lost.
So, you know, but it's sold out.
Yeah, already sold out.
We were talking about this yesterday.
When's the last time the Kentucky Vandy game is sold out?
Maybe never.
Ever.
Has the Kentucky Vandy game been sold out?
It's a different era.
I'm not sure the Kentucky Vandy game a week out has been sold out.
I mean, maybe back in the day.
But in my lifetime, I don't think it has.
And we owe Vandy.
They've kind of had our number the last couple of years.
We owe them.
Yeah.
So it is extremely exciting.
And Will Stein has put a fun in this fan base.
Yes.
That is, it's intoxicating.
You know, Larry Vaught told me 30 years ago.
We don't have to do that anymore.
It's a football state.
But I'm serious.
There's no doubt.
Like, they are.
This fan base is, like, out of control.
But in the best way possible.
This is what, you know, for all the criticism this fan base takes
about how, you know, we act online, et cetera.
Most of that is overblown.
Some of it is true.
But this is the best part of the fan base.
And this is like, it's just, it just feels energetic.
And I would say now you get, if we beat Vandy, you get in three weeks,
that game in Knoxville.
Oh, my goodness.
Like, you got to go.
I mean.
Like you said, you thought they're maybe the most Kentucky fans ever to go to that game.
I think it might be the most Kentucky fans we've ever had in Knoxville.
And then you throw in, if they're still going when it's time for Missouri.
Yeah.
Come on.
Come on.
There may be more Missouri, may be more Kentucky fans than Missouri fans.
Depending on what's happening with Missouri season, baby.
So, we'll see.
859-280-2287.
I'm going to get some energy as this show goes.
Ryan is drinking his.
By the way.
A cup of McDonald's sugar, Shannon, that is.
I got it free today on the app.
That's how many points I got free today.
He did.
Free.
All right.
Yeah, eat it.
You sound beaten down a little bit.
You do have a little, you sound like you're in low energy.
Well, I'm not beaten down.
I'm happy.
I'm just, I'm just exhausted.
We drove eight and a half hours yesterday.
And we're still like four and a half hours from home.
We're almost home.
We're almost home.
We had the rare triple U-turn in one intersection.
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
He's racking them up, Shannon.
He's racking them up.
No wonder he's taking so long to get home.
We'll talk about the triple U-turn.
He's being a little bit of, he's exaggerating.
Oh, no, I'm not.
We'll take a break and be right back.

It is Kentucky Sports Radio here in somewhere Tennessee.
We didn't even find out during the break.
Where we are.
Somewhere between Memphis and Nashville.
I'm not sure where it is.
We ate at, that's one of the best Chinese places I've ever eaten at in Memphis yesterday.
It was called like Shannon Petals of a Peony or something.
Something like that.
Do you know that place?
No, who wouldn't want to eat at a place like that?
No, I'm just saying.
My buddy is staying there for work.
And he suggests, we met him and we suggested.
And that was like the best.
That was so good.
It's like a Memphis restaurant that has a Michelin, not only it has a star, but like a Michelin something.
I think it was called like Petals of a Peony.
It was so good.
Highly recommend that.
That was awesome.
Yeah, he said as soon as he gets to Memphis, that's the first place he goes to.
Well, I can see why.
But, so we're here, 859-280-2287.
This comes from Mario's friend, Chris Beesmore.
I'm not sure if this is true or not.
But, he did the math.
And he said the odds, considering the spread, the odds of us winning all four of those games.
A&M, South Carolina, LSU, and Oklahoma.
Was one in 6,000.
Guess what?
The percentage, it's what?
The 100%.
But, one in 6,000.
It's 6,000 and 6,000.
We beat them.
That's unbelievable.
It is crazy.
That is crazy.
But, it has happened.
And so, might as well keep it going.
One person writes, Matt, I heard you guys on the post-game show say you thought they should have kicked the field goal.
Do you still feel that way now?
I do.
But, it didn't matter.
We still won.
And that's one of the things I like.
I love the quote.
I didn't see it until after the post-game show.
But, I believe it was Jordan Castell said, we want our coach to go with whatever he thinks.
And, if it doesn't work, the defense has his back.
That's a great quote.
It is a great quote.
That's what you want from your player.
And, I thought that was awesome.
You know, we all talked about it in the car.
Was that the right decision or not?
We all agreed.
That's just something we have to get used to.
He's going to go four and a fourth down.
He's going to try to get the points.
It may work four out of five times.
Maybe that's the one.
Sometimes it doesn't work.
But, we sure appreciate the other times it worked.
For me, it was just fourth and four.
If it was fourth and two, I might have had a different view.
It was fourth and four.
And then, the fact they had an All-American kicker.
That was the only thing.
It's like, because my thought was if he gets to the 40, they got a good chance to make it.
Yeah.
But, you know what they didn't?
They didn't get to 40.
They did not.
Because our defense made a play and got the interception and ran it back.
Did you see my man Darby's dance?
Yes, I did.
Man.
How did he do that?
He's got 120,000 likes on TikTok.
How does he do that?
I don't know.
Are we jerking, by the way?
Because people keep asking me.
Yeah, I want to.
We couldn't get on the field.
We wanted to do it on the field, but we couldn't get on it.
So, yeah.
Let me get some energy.
Okay.
It's not going to be today.
Ryan definitely doesn't want to do it.
I can tell.
Why don't you want to do it?
Why don't you look at his face?
I need to relearn it.
It's not hard.
Yeah.
It's hard, but we'll do it.
By the way, before, I did not do a triple U-turn.
He definitely did.
Yes, he did.
He did.
He did.
I didn't do that.
So, you messed up.
No, wait.
I did mess up.
Yeah, I did mess up.
We pulled out of our location.
He went the wrong way.
He went right.
The map said go right.
The map did not say go right.
So, he did a U-turn to go back the correct way.
But then he went past the exit ramp.
So, he had to do another one.
He had to do another U-turn.
Then he took the exit ramp, but it kind of split, and he didn't went up on the highway
or acted like a service road.
He took the service road.
The triple U-turn at one intersection lives.
Fair sighting.
I've never seen that with talent.
I was doing pretty good with not having a lot of U-turns, but it hurts your rate, Shannon,
when you get three in one exit.
I love that you still refuse to hit the go button on the GPS.
I won't hit the go button.
A lot of times I hit the go button.
I like to see the map.
It gives me more of a visual.
It will literally tell you.
Yeah, well, this time it didn't work, but it works more often than it doesn't, and I
don't have to listen to that stupid thing talk to me in the car.
Yeah, you're so. We also, he got eight hours of NFL radio.
Yeah.
He got eight hours of NFL radio.
He got eight hours of NFL radio last night with, what was it?
What are those guys' names?
I don't know those two guys, but we heard them enough that I don't want to hear them
again.
It was Mike Kamekis or whatever.
They were just doing all the cut-ins.
It's like NFL Red Zone, Shannon, but for radio, right?
I'm sure Ryan loved that.
Well, I mean, it was good to pass the time, right?
Actually, it's really cool when it gets to the fourth quarter, and they're bouncing back
and forth from game to game, and you kind of get caught up with what's going on.
I just remember Ryan betting punt.
We were doing. Listening to something, somebody just bet punt on every single thing on draft day.
I remember that, Shannon.
That's right.
You could have done that yesterday.
I should have done that yesterday.
One person writes, Matt, do you feel like we're getting enough respect nationally?
Yeah, I do.
I mean, look, if we weren't named Kentucky, we would be probably fifth or sixth in the
country.
If you look at our schedule and you look at what we've accomplished, then I think we probably
should be third or fourth.
But we are Kentucky, and because of that, we're going to have to slowly over time earn
the fact to get up there.
Probably the only teams that should be ahead of us, probably, are like BYU and, I don't
know, UCLA?
But that's not going to. Objectively, that's just not how they're going to do it.
Or Miami.
Yeah.
But objectively, they're just not going to do that.
So I'm not mad about it.
I don't like when that one dude had us ranked like 20th.
That annoys me.
But I'm fine with about where we are.
So they came out, what, 12th yesterday?
12th, yeah.
And you said Lee Kay voted us higher than anybody?
Lee Kay had us like sixth.
Shannon, he's changed a lot.
He's like, Lee Kay's gone from no more criticism, put me as high as I can.
I don't know what it was, seventh.
It was something very high.
He was on with Tom Leach last week, and the first question I asked him when I called him,
where do you have us ranked at this week?
Yeah, he ain't making that. Lee Kay's not making that mistake again.
He's going to put us as high.
Also, if we're going to win, we're going to have to win.
If we beat Vandy, and Tennessee beats South Carolina,
there's going to be a good chance that you could have Tennessee and Kentucky
as two top ten teams playing each other, with potentially a playoff berth at stake.
Yeah, winner gets the playoff berth, loser is on the outside looking in.
I'm sure Kentucky and Tennessee have never played where both are in the top ten.
Never.
That's never happened, right?
I'm positive it's never happened.
We used to always play Tennessee at the end of the season.
In that one year, those couple good years we had,
there's no way we're both in the top ten.
This is the latest Kentucky has been ranked this high in the season since 2007,
which you remember, of course, that Andre Woodson, that great Rich Brooks team.
That's the last time we were ranked this high this late in the season.
Well, I think like what you said, if we didn't have Kentucky on our jersey,
we probably would be higher because Indiana had to fight that for a little while.
No, Indiana did have to fight that.
They had the exact same issue we're having right now.
Indiana went through it, then eventually they got the respect.
Same thing can happen with us.
All right, we will take your calls.
859-280-2287.
We'll be right back.
TJ Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call TJ.
He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Ryan, there he goes.
He's feeling better.
Now he's dancing here.
I got my coffee going through my veins.
All right, 859-280-2287.
One person writes, Matt, did you know you can talk?
Turn the GPS voice off, and then you don't have to hear it.
No, I didn't know you could do that.
I forgot you can't actually do that.
I don't know how to do that.
I'm happy with my system.
My system works.
That's why we're at 12 U-turns on this trip.
What's the record?
12.
We need one more to break the record.
He's getting it today.
We're not going to do any U-turns today.
We're just going to go straight up the interstate,
stop on the other side of Nashville, do Matt and Myron, be home.
I know how to get home from here.
No shortcuts.
No shortcuts, please.
No shortcuts.
Mario doesn't like the shortcuts.
One person said, did Drew make it home after hearing him on the post-game show?
I wasn't sure he would.
Yes, he did.
He was home.
In time for the Titans game yesterday against Indianapolis.
They made the airport.
I don't think they went to bed, he and Hubby, straight from the post-game show.
I think they went to the casino and then ended up at the airport at 4 a.m.
and came home.
Can we talk about Hubby?
Yeah, can we talk about Hubby, please?
Be careful.
Remember, Hubby's not part of, you know, he's a private citizen.
I know, we love Hubby.
But why does he carry around a hot dog in his pocket?
He does shit.
We learned shit and he carries around a hot dog at all times.
Like wrapped up or like a loose hot dog?
Yeah, he has a wrapped up hot dog.
He calls it a pocket dog when he goes out, just in case he needs one at some point,
which Ryan found really fun.
And he also, he takes home hot dogs from road games as a memory.
Now, I don't know how long he keeps them,
but I think he's got like a whole shrine of hot dogs at his house
that you don't know about.
I don't know if he does, but he took an Oklahoma hot dog,
wrapped it Oklahoma game, and he's taking it home as a memory of the game,
which means he went through airport security with a hot dog in his pocket.
Flew home with it in his pocket.
Didn't he say he, at our post-game show, he even got it out and re-wrapped it?
He re-wrapped it so it'd be tighter.
Be tighter.
My goodness.
I love Hubby, but you got the strangest friends.
Thank you very much.
I appreciate that.
One person writes,
Matt, what did you think about Will Stein talking trash to the Oklahoma sideline?
That was great.
Have you seen that video?
I've not seen the video.
So when they ran the fake play, the flea flicker,
I don't know what made him do this, Shannon.
You saw it, but he pointed.
Yeah, I think that he believes they stole the play, like they knew the play.
I think that he thinks they knew the play, and he said,
we still got it past you.
Yeah, it was all – no, no, I'm talking about when we were on defense.
When we were on defense and they did the flea flicker and we stop them,
he like runs out on the field and points to the Oklahoma coaches like,
I got you.
You can't outsmart me.
I love that.
I love it.
You got to go see that video.
He's like out on the field.
That's my coach, baby.
And he's sitting there like he's pointing at his head like,
you're not going to outsmart me.
I remember when Mark Stoops did that to James Franklin,
one of my favorite Mark Stoops moments.
That was one of his best moments.
I just – but like this was like in the second quarter.
Like Will Stein was in it.
It's great.
You need to see it.
If you haven't seen the video, he is like literally out on the field.
Then a bunch of people asked me about the post-game interview
where the woman said, what's it like?
I give her a break.
Like she didn't, you know – she made a mistake.
Stuff happens when you're on live TV, live radio.
I don't think she meant anything by it.
Will, I thought, actually handled it well.
Said, I think we're ranked, but maybe they're ranked too.
Like didn't try to embarrass her too much.
But like some people are outraged.
She didn't do that on purpose.
Like she messed up.
You know.
Even the best reporters have to make a mistake once in a while.
I've been known to make a mistake.
What was your worst on TV mistake?
Oh, I couldn't pronounce Tuskegee, and I said Tuskegee.
That's okay.
Yeah.
That was a bad one.
That's your worst one.
That's what you missed.
I'm sure there's more.
Well, I mean, I've burped on the air.
My contact fell out of my eye on the air.
Burped on the air?
I sneezed on the air.
Yeah.
Ew.
And that was just yesterday.
That was just yesterday.
On KSR.
All right.
Who's up first, Shane?
Alex.
Alex.
Go ahead, Alex.
Hey, Matt.
First time caller.
Long time listener.
Hooah.
What's up?
Yeah.
Appreciate you taking my call.
I just love watching the football team this year.
I grew up actually in North Carolina, but moved to Louisville in, let's see, January
2020, and met my now wife right before COVID started.
Her family were diehard Kentucky fans, so I figured I might as well join in.
I thought I was going to have to watch every single football and basketball game.
It's obviously been tough.
these last six years as a UK fan, but Will Stein's team is just really making it all worth it.
And I know you were just talking about that post-game interview.
I actually loved the first part when she asked him what this meant for the program,
and he just said, we just keep stacking them.
It's what we do.
And he kind of sounded just like Drew from Saturday Night, but I loved it.
And that's all I got, man.
Well, they do.
Thank you very much.
Appreciate it.
They do keep stacking the wins.
I mean, you know, if I had shown you before, we did talk before the season,
what would you like the record to be?
And I think I remember going, you know, if we could come out of these first seven games,
four and three, we'd be dancing in the streets.
No doubt.
And we're six and one.
I mean, like, that's more than dancing in the streets.
That's being like Drew was in the post-game in the streets.
I think that's why our fan base is so excited because it's kind of unexpected.
You know, we're winning games we weren't expected to win,
weren't supposed to win, and we're doing it and winning
and proving we were the better team.
We were better than Oklahoma last night.
And you were as giddy, Mario, as I've seen you.
Like, we kind of had a plan.
If we lose, we're going to get in the car
and try to win the game.
We had to get back to the hotel to do the post-game.
So we were sitting in the car watching it, and you just ran away.
Oh, yeah.
You were like you wanted to go celebrate.
I wanted to celebrate with Kentucky fans, man.
I had to.
I had to.
I mean, you literally just ran out.
It was like having a child, Shannon.
I was like, get back in the car.
And you just ran away.
And I was like, fine, just go run and play with your friends.
I got to ask you guys this.
The Oklahoma, the away game, first away game for me,
what do you guys thought about, like, the stadium atmosphere?
Because I thought it was.
Honestly, I thought it was going to be better for a night game.
I think it's an old, bad stadium.
And that's huge.
But it's old, and it's not laid out well.
And so, like, it's kind of.
It needs a major renovation.
With that said, I thought, like, the music and stuff,
I thought it was cool in there.
Their fans, you can just tell, are mad.
So, like, they were never really into the game because they're just.
I don't think they like their team.
So I think that's.
That's part of it.
It didn't sound good on TV either.
It sounded really quiet.
Yeah, I don't think they like their team.
They just never were really into it.
Like, when we would have the ball driving,
the Oklahoma would try to get their fans to make noise,
and they just didn't really.
We go up by eight.
They have the ball.
And there's a mass exodus of fans.
Oh, everyone left.
There was a minute and a half left.
They still had the ball and a chance to tie.
And everyone left.
Who's next?
Let's go to Isaiah.
Isaiah.
Go ahead, Isaiah.
Hey, guys.
I'm too quick.
Thanks.
One, I don't think enough people are talking about how physical our defense is.
I mean, I can sit here and think about a handful of just hard tackles
you can hear through the TV.
I mean, we looked at one guy up when it hit his hand on the sideline
against Oklahoma.
And then my second point is I'd like for you guys to make a strong argument
for if we win the whole thing or if we have even two losses
or if we're dreaming that our story would be better than IU's story.
Considering our conference is better and we actually play.
Yeah, I mean, they won the national championship.
I mean, if we win the national championship, sure.
I mean, we're a long way away from that.
But, I mean, their story is pretty amazing.
Because historically, their program is even worse than ours.
I appreciate the call.
I mean, they were never, ever good.
We at least had little periods where we were good.
They were never good.
Never, ever good.
Some of the worst football I've ever seen was Indiana football.
Those hits he was talking about, by the way, we broke up, like,
with passes, with huge hits that were clean.
You know, those hits, you can get called for those hits if you're not careful.
But passes that the guys would have called, if not just the perfect timing of a hit.
Yeah, our secondary guys, they really played well.
You know, Ty had two interceptions.
Castillo had to pick six.
And before he got hurt, he hurt his hand or his wrist or something.
Oh, what about, speaking of getting hurt, Nick Anderson.
That's a great one.
That catch.
It's awesome.
That catch is unbelievable.
And, Shannon, could you hear on TV they would boo him every single play.
You can hear that.
Yeah, you can hear that.
He was booed loudly every single time they mentioned his name.
And for him to have that success was awesome.
Who's next?
Russ.
Russ.
Go ahead, Russ.
Hey, guys.
Greetings from Vandenberg County.
I'm actually on my way back from Norman.
The Oklahoma fans around us, when we were sitting in that corner,
said that they're actually getting ready to renovate that stadium on that end.
And just real quick, the day of the Missouri game,
that night before is the Indiana basketball game.
So that's going to be a real easy trip.
It'd be a really nice trip if you map it out.
Indianapolis to Columbia, Missouri is not a bad drive.
You guys have a safe trip home.
Okay, appreciate the call.
I didn't realize that.
Yeah, I mean, there was a basketball game.
I'm just going to have to admit to you, Shannon,
I haven't seen more than a minute of that basketball game.
I saw the highlights.
Yeah, and so, like, we'll talk a minute about that.
We'll talk a minute about it in the second hour.
But, like, for me, especially when I went online
and saw everybody's reactions, I think I'm just not going to watch it.
I think I'm just going to start with the Texas Tech game Friday
and we'll act like that game didn't happen.
I actually like that approach.
Because there are people who are so angry about that first game.
And we won by 20.
Let's not overreact.
We did it last year.
We're due.
Yeah, but I think I'm just not going to watch it.
Is that wrong?
No.
I watched a little bit of it.
I watched a little bit of it on my phone when we were at the volleyball game.
Yeah, yeah.
But I'm like, you know, everything I saw on social media
and all my friends were like, you know, so negative.
I don't want to watch it.
Let's just act like it didn't happen.
It was a preseason exhibition game.
First game.
And then we'll just pick it up with Texas.
19 turnovers did not happen.
Yeah, but see, I didn't see them.
So, in my mind, all I saw was Milan behind his back.
I'm going to take that one is what happened.

playbold win big welcome back to esports radio a couple people were saying that will stein was
pointing at oklahoma because that was the play that lsu did against us and he was saying you
won't be able to do that to us twice uh-huh they learned their lesson from the lsu that's interesting
yeah that makes sense uh one person says matt is hubby the guy who ate the uh trash dog that's
correct good memory oh wow trash dog yeah trash dog you know you weren't around back then we went
to breeders cup you know breeders cups at keeneland here in a couple weeks by the way there's still a
few general admission tickets on sale you should get those they'll probably sell out in the next
few days but for the breeders cup which is in two weeks um we went to the breeders cup a few years
ago when it was at keeneland when flight line won and toby keith was there uh rest in peace toby
keith oklahoma fan and grew up right outside norman norman yeah grew up in more oklahoma we
went through his hometown but toby keith was there and he was at the table next to us and he had
six keeneland dogs which i guess are a special hot dog shannon that keeneland makes a keeneland dog
yeah and his table ate like three of them and left three untouched and then they set them in the trash
can but set them like face up and hubby was like can i get those which one of you guys said yeah go
ahead hubby all of us because we wanted him to do it and then he went and it was to be fair on the
trash can and we he ate what we he ate what we call the toby keith trash dog oh wow he didn't wrap
it up put it in his pocket he didn't know i think he ate that one so he's got a long history with
hot dogs i could tell jeez he likes a good hot dog he likes to talk heating and air also he does
eight five nine uh two eight oh twenty two eighty seven uh who's up next chad chad go ahead chad
hey guys uh love listening to you guys first of all uh you need to let ryan keep doing his
percentage math because whatever he's doing is working so you just just let him do it for
from here on out just let him cook okay gotcha that's right yeah uh so now that kentucky is in
the playoff talk i got a quick i got a quick question and a quick comment yesterday or over
the weekend they've been talking about expanding the college football playoff to 2014 um me
personally my comment i want to know what you think about that but i'm going to let you know
but my comment is this i i don't like it i don't think there's 24 teams in the country that can
win a national championship um i think that what it does that doesn't validate you as a college
football playoff team with 24 teams i could see moving it to 16 would would be okay but 24 i think
it would be well here would be here would be my two arguments here would be my two okay sorry so
the ncaa tournament you know there aren't 64 teams that can win that either and it's probably the
sporting event that we have and if you look at the percentage of teams in the ncaa in basketball
versus ones that make that tournament it's about now that it's 72 it's about 20 to 25 percent of
the teams make the tournament now fast forward to the ncaa football there's 130 i think division
one teams and yet we make it to where less than 10 percent make the tournament it's not like that
in any other sport in the end every other sport that percentage is higher now you might say well
that's better that it's like that in football and that can be that's a reasonable opinion
but it is not unreasonable to have a similar percentage of teams make the tournament
as do uh the other sports now i would say the fact that you only have one team from the non-power
conferences i wouldn't do that i'd have at least two maybe even three but they're you know just
doing one as a selfish matter though for me personally
i want kentucky playing in more meaningful games right and there's a lot better chance that that
will happen in this formula than in the other formula i mean just to give you an example and
i appreciate the call let's assume for a second that it existed this year we would likely make
we would certainly make it if we finish three and two in these last five five games and we might
make it if we finish two and three that's true you would have a scenario where all we'd have to do is
beat louisville and mandy
and we might be in and be in or louisville and mandy and one of florida tennessee and missouri
i think i would like that wouldn't you i think every kentucky fan would love that
so i mean i just like the idea of more games that can be meaningful for kentucky and this is the way
to do it and the other thing i would say is it ain't like it's gonna guarantee it's gonna be
meaningful they went back and looked since 2014 you know how many times we would have made it in
this system just twice it's gonna be meaningful it's gonna be meaningful it's gonna be meaningful
twice right twice so it's not like we made it every year so you know shannon i i think it's fun
actually yeah i think it's great we put such an emphasis on the top 25 why not have the top 25 or
in this case 24 teams at least have a chance to win a title i agree now i understand people disagree
what i will say is let it play out most people disagreed on the 12th team playoff and then it
happened and now they like it love it so we go to 24 teams this could potentially be the last sec
championship game yes what a fitting way kentucky plays it
only sec championship game is the last one we go to the sec championship game and then they're like
well now we got to stop it so we might as well go might as well make a trip but yes and the other
reason they're going to they want to do 24 is this is the only system that would guarantee
the top teams a home game the problem with the 12 team system uh well i mean i guess you could
with a 16 team system but the problem with the 12 team system is the team seated one through four
didn't get a home game yeah so they were almost punted and they didn't get a home game and they
were punished yeah they didn't get the revenue of a home game because they skipped through the
round where people played on home field so these last five games what do they need to do to stay in
the playoff picture i think you if you go four and one you're in the playoff all right if you go four
and one you're in the play i'll take that of course you would take that everyone would if you
go three and two you're probably not in but it's not crazy depending on what happens with all the
other teams but you then at that point you're in the playoff picture and you're in the playoff picture
and you're in the playoff picture and you're in the playoff picture and you're in the playoff picture
at the mercy of your schedule strength and all these things and the fact that we are kentucky
and not alabama might work against us but but four and one my view is four and one you're in
you know if we beat vandy then i'm looking at it as there's four games after the bye
if you can somehow win three which is still a tough task it's still a very tough task but if
you could then there you go those three teams florida missouri and louisville we want them to
be ranked in the playoff picture and we want them to be ranked in the playoff picture and we want
them to be ranked in the playoff picture and we want them to be ranked in the playoff picture and we want
as high as possible in tennessee and beat their butt the good thing about tennessee beating alabama
is if we go win in knoxville that game's going to be even stronger sure yeah because you know
you could make a strong i mean if you look tennessee plays south carolina this weekend
we we played both of the teams so in some ways it doesn't matter but then they have a buy same week
we have a buy so we have a buy so if tennessee beats south carolina i mean that game in knoxville
will be considered a win in the playoff picture and we're going to have a win in the playoff picture
by many a potential playoff to the playoff it's gonna be a tough game that will be crazy
wear your dirty shoes they're gonna get spit on yeah the game well don't wear your nice shoes we
won't get the same treatment down there we got no no from the other fans we will not it will not
not at all it will not be the same 859-280-2287 we're gonna take a break come back hour number
