Ryan, we are in Tulsa. I don't know how you found this place, how far back it is, but it's here, and look at all these people who made their way to building A9 in the middle of this industrial park to sit in this little room with us, and get ready for Oklahoma tomorrow. - You know, I was thinking when we exit it off, and we're driving back here through all the warehouses. - Here comes more people, there we go, come on with it. - There we go, there we go. - There we go. - The fire code doesn't matter yet. Come on in, go ahead. - As we're going through all the warehouses, and we're looking for Sweet A9, I'm thinking of myself, this is the perfect place to have a good show. - Yeah, you said that right next to Broken Down, that's where you're going over there. - Great pick. - And we end up with the largest crowd we've had on the road for this road trip right now, and we've got the best location and the best room, and thank you to complete event rentals. - Thank you very much to complete event rentals for having us. They are-- - I walk through Plains. - Walk through Plains, here in Tulsa. - Walk through Plains, they have, for those of you that are sitting in here, they have the coolest thing in their Mario. - Yeah. - Taking a projection of our logo, my face is like the size of five of you out there. That's very cool. - It's like a projector printout. Like they, they printed out on the floor. - Did you take a picture of them? - I took a picture of posted it, so y'all can see that online. - To the people here in Tulsa, awesome of you to come out. Some of these folks live here in Oklahoma. Some of them are on their way from Kentucky. These boys right here got started in Somerset last night, haven't gone to bed, went through Litchfield to pick up a friend, and now they're here this morning. How about that? - Even go to bed, just decided to come right here first. They started at 5 p.m. yesterday, got here at 5 a.m. this morning, so good job, boys. - Thank you very much. Then, how about a face from the past, Ryan? - Yeah. - What was your-- - Referee guy. - Referee guy, you were what? Snack daddy swizz, is that right? Snit, you still are, Snack daddy swizz. - Snack daddy. - Vincent Swope, people, those of you listening, may remember, he was referee guy in the school. - He's referee, yeah. - He made the half-court shot, that Kroger didn't pay, and we got really upset, and then they ended up paying. He lives in Oklahoma City, and here he is today. How cool is it to see him? - Very cool, man. - It's a total blast from the past, a big part of KSR War, KSR history from back in the day, so it's good to see, Vincent. - For fans, move to Oklahoma City with D'Cari Johnson, - That's right. - Okay, when D'Cari Johnson was picked by the Thunder, moved to Oklahoma City, fell in love. - Yo. - And married, and Oklahoma girl, and now has stayed in Oklahoma, has two kids. How does that make, well, you're not that old, but how grind does that make us feel? - It makes us feel like we're grandpa age. Of course, I am about grandpa age, but we've talked about Vincent over the years, his mother's Valeria Cummings, one of the legend news anchors in Lexington for many, many, many years, so just a good, good, good family. - Yeah, so great crowd here this morning, and everything is built on the way to Oklahoma. We drove through, we're in Tulsa, played a little Tulsa time yesterday, I was like that didn't you, no, I did not. - Come on, man. - The music choices that I've been hearing is just not, it's not cutting it, it's not cutting it. - Come away, Twitty is not it. John Anderson, I blame you, Shannon, you, come on. - You're out for all of this. - I thought we were boys, you got to love John Anderson. - No, no, awful, awful. - You had never heard Come Away, Twitty. - No, I haven't. - I played you this song, you've never been this far before. - Yeah, very creepy, very creepy. - Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. - No, stop guys, throw her money. - But we've had a good time, you've been a lot, you've been a lot under the weather for part of it, but you seem to be perky. - Yeah, I was not feeling my best yesterday, but I feel a lot better today. I do blame it on Come Away, Twitty though. That's why I haven't been feeling well. - You think Come Away from what you said? - Yeah, made my stomach a little query. - So yeah, I'm blaming on Come Away. - Well, it has been, it's been a lot of fun. We've only been gone for 48 hours. - Right. - It feels like we've been gone for 48 weeks. Been a long trip. - It is a long trip. I will say the drive from St. Louis to Tulsa, not the most exciting drive in the world, a lot of blank space, not a lot of places to exit, but now we're in Tulsa, and last night, walked the streets of Tulsa. Downtown Tulsa kind of doesn't have people at all. Nice, really nice buildings, but no people. It was creepy, this large downtown metropolitan area, and there was nobody ghost town, yeah. - It was, it was a little bit of a ghost. I mean, I don't mean to be like, but where are the people? The buildings are nice, but I just-- - You're not out. - I'll drive around looking for complete event rental. (laughing) - That may be true, but we had Mexican food. - Yeah, Mexican was good. - And then everybody, tell everybody, it was very sweet, we were sitting at dinner, and you, like, Rod, Mr. emotional, Rod, and you started to tear up, which I thought was very nice, about Dan Kees' brother, David. - You got to, I want to tear up, right now, just thinking about it. - No, tear up, just do it, we're all friends. - You got to start last night for the Denver Broncos, and prime time NFL football game. - That's worth, that's worth playing. - Yeah, that is. I mean, that's a kid that Rod has known his entire life since he was a little kid, been playing special teams for Broncos for what? Three years? - This is his third year with the Broncos, yeah. - And last night was his first start? - First start, and in fact, it was on NFL, Thursday night football with just, just me. - It's a defending Super Bowl champion. - Yeah, I guess he had five tackles last night, so just, he's been on KSR several times, we've had him on, you know, talking about his NFL career, and just so proud of him, his mom went, but dad, Dante didn't go, so he wasn't there last night. - And you, so you were just sitting there over your fluffy tacos, what, tear it up like a child? It's just amazing from Masterson Station to starting on the biggest stage in football, it's just a great accomplishment that he's done. - Well, all of this, of course, is because we are headed to Norman for Kentucky and Oklahoma, and, you know, I don't want to, like, say this every week, 'cause then it starts having, it doesn't have meaning, but another massive game. I mean, it has been such a fun ride these few weeks, from losing the. Alabama, but even though we lost I honestly had no idea he didn't tell any of us and no Hey, go on here, so so he gave me a he asked for the address So I wasn't sure if he was gonna come on out. He did ask me for the address. I had no idea We'll get well come on the air here for a second. We only brought three headsets I think unfortunately because we didn't think you were coming Drew. What a surprise Turn his microphone up. There you go. Hey, yes, I'm late. How do you things do around the house? Or a mess? Drew Franklin is here. Yes, y'all knew I would get here I did not know you it was an adventure almost slept in Dallas airport last night and had a good time So how so when did you when did you fly last night? I got on the last flight out of Lexington But then we got delayed on the runway for an hour and a half and they basically like I don't know if we're leaving Lexington So I'd already gotten excited. I was sitting there But then they gave me to Dallas and when I say I did the airport sprint I that's the most athletic I've ever been and they were holding the door for me I set next to this poor woman. I was so sweaty, but they got me to Tulsa Last night like 1 a.m. I got in Wow, and then you was an adventure and then you're up here. Yeah, do you play out here? Yeah, I'm Hey Mario you guys Well, that's awesome. Yeah, an absolute shock Drew Franklin with the random arrival at the show I'll be honest uncut might have been what pushed me over the edge yesterday I still wasn't all the way in until about six p.m. Watch didn't like I got to go got to get to your Port love it. Well Drew what a some great surprise. There is room because I'm in I'm gonna bond here I've been catching rise. Well, yeah, we got your with I'm gonna have to find you a hotel room, but besides that I got that already did that too. You got that all right Well, good. Well, you're here. It's amazing. That is awesome. Well 8 5 9 2 8 0 2287 now if you're in Kentucky You gotta just come to Oklahoma, right? I mean, they've drew Franklin catches the last flight and gets here If Drew can fly and get here overnight and these guys drove all overnight from Somerset and Lichfield Anybody in this area that listened to us right now needs to be at that game tomorrow. What made you decide that you said You kind of pull if was it really like you just didn't want to not be here? No, I want to be here though I just genuinely had stuff that I couldn't get covered. Yeah, so I knew I couldn't go Wednesday and I had hope Thursday morning Roush and Luckit and Jeff Drum and in Stephen. I was gonna hop in with them. They even changed their rental I was supposed to meet them at 9 30, but I had to take the baby to daycare and when I woke up my garage door was broken and I was like this now honestly that fueled me to like now I'm definitely going because it's just it was another hiccup But finally around six pay taxes had to do that yesterday too deadline, and then I was like I'm get me there I'm trying not to think about it. Well what I was saying, and I think this sort of symbolizes you coming in is we started with the Alabama game Awesome lead up you know didn't end up with the victory kind of a bad second half But then starting with A&M a game none of us thought we'd win we get the victory and everybody goes, oh well, maybe Maybe this is actually something then you beat out South Alabama. Then you get South Carolina and the two-point conversion I think if there was any doubters that ended it right there Then you get the game against LSU what an amazing lead up to the day the victory people still celebrating You know however many 96 hours later I feel like I just want the train to continue rolling and Ryan if you can win tomorrow then it's Vandy at home then it's a by-week and you have a November to remember with four games win three and you're in the playoffs. They win tomorrow Everything changes the entire landscape of Kentucky football changes you win tomorrow And we may look back that's second half the Alabama game Maybe in the best teaching lesson learning lesson that this team has ever had Learned what it makes that would do how to play in the SEC and protect the lead and play big-boy football because they've been to different teams since then I still think that final score is worse than that actually well I mean I didn't broke pretty bad and you don't want say the guys quit, but that spiraled out of control I mean we were dominated them But I don't think it was as truly as bad as the score says remember we were still ahead with five minutes to go to go in the third quarter We just had an awful last 20 minutes, but forget about all that. Yeah, we're heading to Norman The the money's coming in on us. It's down to six and a half. I Get the sense with Oklahoma fans. They kind of are shocked at how cocky we are about this game They're like you know, we're Oklahoma. We won all these national championships We went to the playoffs was it last year two years last year. I don't understand why Kentucky fans are so confident I like it right. I liked it. We're confident. We were used to for my entire lifetime assuming we were gonna lose every game I love that we're confident about this and don't you think that starts with our coach Will Stein He comes in, of course, it all starts to trickles down from him But you said that Oklahoma fans being cocky almost everybody in here not at their head all these Oklahoma people like a yep They're being a little too cocky for this game tomorrow. Oh That's that's not what I said. I said Oklahoma fans thought we were cocky. I thought you said Oklahoma fans thought they were too cocky They were their own fans See what you missed see Mario and I've had to look I've enjoyed I've enjoyed the content Mario and I've had to deal with this on the run. We haven't had you to help balance I mean I'm like they can't get through the weekends. I don't get there It's been a long couple days drew But I like don't you like our fans being this confident. We do I you know, I got my predictions I'm on a thing I've got going on but I'm I'm almost worried about how confident I am I keep telling myself their offense is not good Even though they beat Alabama, they only had one touchdown one offensive touchdown and they didn't score a lot in their cupcake game So I just feel like if Kentucky can put points on the board Oklahoma might not bill keep up There are still a lot of tickets available for tomorrow and they're not cheap, but they're reasonable That stadium is huge, so you'll be able to get in so I think we're gonna have a lot of Kentucky I can't wait. I just wish it wasn't gonna be cold because it is cold outside Yeah, but if you get besides that this is all I brought to so if I'm wearing the same outfit every day Only have a backpack. Well, I'm glad you made it. That was a great surprise that I did not see coming eight five nine two eight oh 2287 text machines seven seven two seven four five two five four by the way There's a basketball game tonight, which I don't know that any of this really process But they are playing a basketball game tonight and a big volleyball game in Norman, which is that sold out? I've heard people say is it I've heard people say it's hard to get tickets We'll see we'll take a break here at walk through plans in Tulsa in the industrial park This is Kentucky sports rate Lisa. We should tell them about our new show. Oh my god, Lexi We have a new podcast. Bloomberg's Big Take podcast has everything you need to know about the most expensive midterms in US history, like the money being spent to control the Senate. Everyone has been waiting to see how Trump will spend his big work just to be sitting on nearly half a billion dollars. How candidates are rewriting their party's playbooks. You have El Said who is a former health official giving rise to a lot of the economic populism. I'm wondering where you see this sort of definition of the working class going from here. Well it's essentially now everyone, right? 50% of college educated workers consider themselves working class, 50% of high earners do. And how big business is throwing its money into the ring. Gambling super PACs, sports betting companies, there is obviously the AI super PACs. Don't just witness history unfold, understand it. They redistricted Texas, we're the Mac daddy and it's going to backfire. Catch the Big Take podcast every weekday and tune in Wednesdays for the latest on the midterms. Listen to the Big Take on the iHeart Radio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio. There we go. All right, Shannon, I appreciate you playing this song. Maybe my favorite live Tyler song, Tulsa Turnaround, which is not on an album. You have to look it up to Kenny Rogers, did it once. We're going to be playing it as we drive through the town today, right? This is the one where it's veins pop out in his neck when he's singing it. You've asked me that before and I said no, that was take me out and take my hands to heaven. I always think it's this song. Yeah, yeah, no, you can, you ask it a lot. No, this is the this one that has the funky butt that we did I talk about. All right, seems like I've jumped in right at the right time on this trip. You know, it's the funky bar part of the trip. All right, we're going to have a lot of fun today, but I do think we have to note that the the passing of a UK legend yesterday, Cliff Hagen, 94 years old, one of the best players to ever play basketball at the University of Kentucky and a long career involved with UK athletics. Multitim all American. He within was he, what was he, he served on a couple things for UK athletic department, didn't he? He was the athletic director for almost 20 years. He was. Yeah, and then I think he was on the board of trustees for a while. People might kind of know he had a stake house. Cliff Hagen's was kind of the nice stake house when I was in college, but as a basketball player, an absolute star. I mean, one of Kentucky's first real stars of the modern Kentucky basketball in Owensboro, a lot of stuff named for him, a macular dresser. That was one of the things. He was in his 80s and we would go do shows in Owensboro and he'd show up looking perfect slick back hair, great sports code. Like he was a classic sort of southern good dresser, but as a basketball player, if you're ranking me, okay, let's do the 10, 15 best of all time. He's going to be on that list and I think you would say Ryan, if you go, you know, pre the modern era, you can make a case for him at one, two, or three, depending on how you look on how you look at it. Very sad. Just a true Kentucky basketball and citizen legend Cliff Hagen passed away at 94. And you're right about his basketball skills. Most people, most Kentucky fans just think about him being the athletic director and having the baseball stadium used to his name after him in the statehouse. The dude is maybe, I think he's the only guy in the state of Kentucky's history to what a state title at Owensboro, a national college title with Kentucky and an NBA title with the St. Louis Hawks. I think he's the only one to ever win. You mean from Kentucky? From Kentucky. You are probably right about that. Yeah, probably right. On him being cool, I saw a picture yesterday of him throwing the first pitch at the last game at Hagen Field, the old baseball stadium. He's in his 80s. He looks like the coolest dude of all time. I thought I was like, I hope I could be that cool one day. He has on a baseball jersey over the top of like a button up shirt. But I mean, he's in his 80s and looked like he has swag out there. When he was like, maybe eight years ago, like a year before COVID, they asked me to speak at this event. No one's broke it. It's for like the Boys and Girls Club and it was named after him and he showed up. And I spent like five minutes with him before and I was like, why am I speaking? Like you should be the one up there speaking. Like you're way cooler than I am. And way more interesting. I mean, he had played with all these guys you mentioned on the St. Louis team. And then, you know, when you're talking about sort of building modern college basketball, the UK college basketball program, I think he next to Rupp has his bigger part of it as anybody. Oh, there's no doubt about it. He was like I said, he was really one of the best 80s we've ever had because of what he did for the university. We've built new facilities and everything. But you guys mentioned he was still playing tennis up until his 80s. I mean, he was still really. Yeah. He was playing tennis. Yeah. That's a tough sport to play at that age. Got into tennis and played tennis like religiously and to look great, great shape, had great hair. Great hair. I always think of his hook shot. I remember I was little. I can't remember what coach it was. They're like, you got to do the cliffhagen hook. I'm like seven. And that's all I knew about cliffhagen at the moment. Well, one of the great things about Kentucky athletics, but Kentucky basketball specifically is the way it's sort of, I mean, just like look at this crap. We have children. We have people in their 20s. We got people in their 40s and 50s. We got people in their 60s and 70s. That's what I think makes UK athletics great is that tie. And I think when you're talking about player ties that go all the way to, you know, Malachai Marino, you can make a really good argument that cliffhagen, if he's not the start, he's number one or two on the baton as you're passing it throughout history. And our prayers are with he and his family and everybody in Kentucky. The loss of an absolute legend, a 5 9 2 8 0 22 87. For the game tomorrow, we mentioned Oklahoma's offense, fair to Midland, Oklahoma's defense, though, great. We got to have an A game from our offense. Got to play well. They've unfortunate returnovers. I keep thinking eventually, you know, that scale is going to tip the other way, but they played so well on the road. And I think if they can keep the turnovers down again, they'll be in it. How many, we don't, I feel like we have the many as one interception through half the season. That's wild. Yeah, it's competition. I mean, which is one interception in his first season of the college starter. And then how many fumbles like two that we fumbled a few times, but we've recovered it. How many of we lost two lost the one in Alabama? Yeah. And I think we lost maybe one to get south Alabama or something, but like the turnover thing has been insane. That's a reason why he's been so successful. He's been, you know, doing a great job directing the offense, keeping it clean. And I'm telling you, man, with our guys up front, they're able to run the football tomorrow. They're going to have some success. How many of you all have in here have seen the uncut video? Anybody see it? So I watched, I was trying to keep it down last night, but I did watch was it's like 30 minutes. Dude, like, did they get, you know, do they get Jerry Brook and Humber to do it or something? I mean, like for four or five days, it's amazing. Like, it's amazingly good. You've got the cutting, first of all, the footage they get from the game just looks awesome. But the behind the scenes, I am shot through that they let all that stuff go through. I'm glad that they do it, but I am shocked at the, at what they show you. And it feels like especially the halftime speeches, I felt like I was playing. I was wanting to look at Cutter Left, which you go, all right, I'll play offensive line. I mean, I probably weigh 60 pounds less than I need to, but I'll go pound them out there. I'll go to war for Cutter Left, which when he said be violent, grab them by the neck and drag them into the deep end. I was like, oh my goodness. And then they're saying, but it seemed nice when he said, yeah, and it wasn't like it didn't seem as violent as the worst. Sing an empty the clip, but this is stuff they were not putting on social media in the past. And I love the headset audio is my favorite. Like when Minchie's about to snap it, it kind of goes quiet. And you just hear like Will Stein talking to him. That's the coolest thing they do. And then that, I don't know if you hear the audio of the two point conversion, because in the audio, the two point conversion will goes, all right, what are we doing here? Do we go for it or do we kick? And like, it's silence behind them. And then you hear one voice go, the book says go for it. And he goes, two, let's go. I mean, first of all, I don't know who the person wants to say the book says go for it. Hope they're on the right page, because they, but he goes. And then listening to the coaches celebrating the audio is also very cool. These videos are doing just another example how they're reconnecting with the fan base and getting the fan base is excited football team and you're right the old regime wouldn't allow that halftime speech even to be on because there's a lot there's a lot of customer you know what good yeah and then I love the video of all the kids like they were already on the wall yeah ready just wait if he lost I think they were going to end up on the field anyway I mean they were already on the wall holding it up and then you see everybody run out it was good one more thing in the beginning when will does the history of the power K he's like this is me at Christmas look I'm not wearing red and green and wearing the power K see number 19 that Cisco Bryant then he calls over TK the equipment guy I was getting a little emotional as he just kind of going through the history showing the the players what it means there's a way to connect to the history of UK athletics in a way that is actually really powerful and I thought he did that in the video from an era where we didn't even win that much he still was able to do it I love to and I love your shirt yeah that's new I haven't seen that we'll take a break take your calls very back KSR TJ Smith personal injury attorney called TJ he'll make him pay now more Kentucky sports radio presented by Stockton mortgage here's Matt Jones welcome back it is Kentucky sports radio here live in Tulsa Oklahoma that was Oaky from Mescopy lot of Oklahoma songs we were talking about that I feel like there's been there's more of those than for a state this size isn't that we love on living on Tulsa time right to see his kid I think all the time you said was to your child I did it was my little lullaby the little Gavin bouncing in with my knee I'd sing this song he just smiled so big he loved give us just an example of what that was like when you did that like like Mario so don't me yeah Mario you act like like your his child no you don't want to do that okay so how what how would it go how do you know my knee I say I'm proud to be an oaky from a scoki and then I came a little dip of the dip I love the dip they're big on your square you may squares can have a ball I get this way what made you think that was the song to sing I don't know it worked so I stayed with him the song says like marijuana LSD yeah the song does mention LSD and marijuana but it's a happy song he's proud to be an oaky from a scoki he also says something like dirty hippies and like that's well we're teaching him the right way to live okay what you said babies like to dip yeah it's guaranteed giggle yeah a little dip and they smile because they're waiting for they know it's coming yeah you don't need to do that with our with with with our headsets on a 5 9 2 8 0 22 87 let's talk just a second about the basketball game because there is one tonight Arkansas Little Rot Travis Ford returns to Ruperina he did a an interview yesterday with the media in Lexington said Kentucky will win a national championship with Mark Pope here that was good to see him supporting his his fellow Wildcat what about the game tonight I mean I can't believe it's here I don't even know if we're gonna see it I hope so I was planning to be there I was looking forward to it till last night football switch but yeah it's sneaking up on us it's a streaming game so you got this is on the computer only but remember if you have YouTube TV now those are on there so if you have YouTube TV it like it pops up on there I tried to do a little research they're picked to win their conference but that's interesting because Travis Ford signed 15 new players in six weeks so they're just brand new I mean nothing about last year's still there they might have one got it link are they in the OVC what are they in it's like the AOC or something I don't think it's the AOC yeah I don't think they're in the I don't think the AOC is okay it's something like that okay the AAC they're in the JFK so yeah I don't know what to make of it I mean I don't know what to make I learned last year on I don't know what to make of exhibition games in general I mean obviously we beat Purdue and then lost to Georgetown I don't know if you saw Tennessee lost last night by 16 Xavier at home so I mean you could look at that go oh man Tennessee's not good but that may not even matter I'm not sure Alabama played an exhibition game against Ole Miss which I found really odd playing a conference team in the Ole Miss game Brandon Garrison only had two points in 25 minutes so maybe it is the same I love Brandon Garrison but maybe it's the same Brandon Garrison is Travis Perry on the team he's in Dayton so he's in Dayton yeah okay I that's somehow I miss that and Jasper had a rough and Oregon had a rough outing last night too what happened Jasper like two points in Oregon either lost or barely beat a bad team I didn't keep up with it too much I just saw the Jasper set so what are you expecting tonight first of all we'll get a chance to finally see who's playing like no I mean I kind of mean that I mean we we've had all these injuries with people on and off and we're like well who's gonna be playing we'll see tonight based on who gets on the court yeah and you know it's a good opportunity for somebody to win that four spot you know with McBride and Injai kind of battling out in job by the way started in the pregame walk through yesterday I think he's the guy's gonna get the nod to start with they need to keep that job and McBride's gonna be he's gonna get some minutes he's gonna get on the floor it depends on who's playing big Frank I want to see how healthy he is if he gets to play do we expect his came Williams not gonna play and I would think not but I will say when when Mario and I were out there on the field before the game he looked fine he was kind of hop I mean certainly was hopping around during the warm-up so it felt like he looked fine he's been on his way back I don't know if he'll be game ready yet but he's close I just hope whatever happens if there's like a close moment I don't think you're gonna lose everything but I hope there's just no overreactions because this is an exhibition you play these games to figure stuff out we brought in better competition to help you I just hope there will be I know I just I hope it's and then Texas Tech is very good on let's on down the road but I mean we could lose one of these and I just hope people don't go too crazy there's no way we will not have an overreaction one person writes on the text machine Matt why did Mario sound like Bronny James had walked in he was so excited when Drew got here that's true you only make that noise when we talk about Bronny usually when person writes is Shannon sad he's not there I'm gonna answer no he's not Shannon hates these trips but you got to miss it a little bit right sure aren't we taking one at the end of the year so I mean we get another one hopefully we could have done another relationship advice hot cat Shannon if you had been here people seem doing people seem to enjoy enjoy that all right who's up first let's go to K K go ahead K well I am on my way to the gang to not no good and I'm just wondering what you all thanks your prediction for tomorrow's time well we will we'll give you the prediction before the later on in the show I feel good about it I'm kind of appreciate call I'm kind of like Drew that I worry that I feel too good about it and that makes me a little nervous yeah I'm confident probably over confident just because even though Oklahoma had that big win that's a that's one of those rivalries that anything can happen now I don't know that that makes Oklahoma a good team even though they beat number one it's something like in that rivalry some like six the last eight years the worst team has won yeah and I and like three of those years a team was ranked in the top five and lost so I mean I think some of that is just kind of that's how that rivalry plays out for whatever is it's a neutral field so I think that also makes a difference probably you think it's a good thing then that Oklahoma won the game coming into the game with us maybe a little full themselves again and um I guess I don't know that maybe if they got destroyed the wheels would have just fallen off and they would have quit that might have been a little better but I guess if it was going to be close to then I guess I hope they win I mean at this point especially we win tomorrow if we're one team to really make the playoff we want these teams we play to win all their games because we want that we you know Texas we want to lose because we don't play them so we want the teams we we play to win yeah I don't want to root for the balls ever but we want the teams left on the schedule have the best resume possible for the playoff conversations we might have to just suck it up and hope the the remaining opponents went out or not against us but when they're other games they announced yesterday that there will be a 2014 playoff in college football next year so people have mixed emotions about this it seems like most of college football media is against it a lot of fans are against it I'm on the other side I'm completely for it those of you that are outside there's a room in here if they'll let you through you can go so that you can get in and not and be able to see it you can go back to that room right there if you want boy we got his tight how about this crack first of all how about this crowd give yourselves a round I mean and they keep coming they keep up I don't think the folks here walk through plans thought we were bring bringing this crowd but I appreciate them opening it up but back to the playoff let's say it was in place this year Drew I saw the bracket we would be the 15 seed and we would be hosting the first round game against Oklahoma State right now that reason and that reason alone makes me before yep and in that projection if you win you go to South Bend which how we would take think about that play Oklahoma state Lexington win go to Notre Dame come on like how could you not want that you think the Louisville Catholics would make the Notre Dame trip for a lot of time there's not a price they wouldn't pay to be a lot of but Jillian Catholics in Louisville all of whom like Will Stein with all the Trinity I mean it would be wild but overall just not even that scenario if we can just have the 24 what we do and being at every once in a while just having these moments where it's Notre Dame or a team we would never ever ever get to play we can set up that opportunity opportunity. It was so cool when you talk about yesterday in the car and talk about our parrions, our brackets. Then I think you looked up something that said we would have been in the playoffs twice already if it was a 24/7. Yeah, so if this had existed just to give you a sense, if this had existed before Kentucky would have made the playoffs twice since 2014. Both years we were 9 and 3. The year we played in the Citrus Bowl against Penn State and then I think we played Iowa the other year in the Citrus Bowl maybe. We would have made it both times. So this is not a pipe agreement of 2014 playoffs. It becomes, yeah, we can do this. And maybe with Will Stein here we think we're going to do it every year. I mean maybe in a 2014 playoffs era we become a team like trying to think. Who's a team that makes the NCAA tournament every year? Maybe doesn't think they're going to win it but consistently believes they should be in it. I can't think of one off the top of my head. Iowa maybe or something like that in basketball. I kind of wonder if we'll be like that. Yeah, that's why I support it. Now we'll say if we get to this end of this year we have a special season where like seventh I might change. I'm like let's close that door because we're already in and kick everyone else out. But I still have a little bit of that old school Kentucky attitude or I just want the opportunity to be in it. In the first two rounds rhyme. Both of the first two rounds will be on on home fields. And the reason they're doing that is you know as the system sits right now if you're on the top four seats you don't get a home game. Now if you're one of the top I guess it is what 16 teams you will be guaranteed at least one home game. So there's also an incentive to be in the top 16. You get to play a game on your campus. I can't imagine what a home playoff game would be for Kentucky. It would just be in that week or so leading up to it would be insane. It'll also be interesting to me just as a side note to see if UK changes the way they schedule their basketball because we always schedule a huge game right there on that weekend before you come off through here just go on that way. That weekend before Christmas we always schedule a big game. It's usually in New York or it's in Chicago. I do wonder if the playoff that's the first week and we might have a home game if we stop scheduling big games that Saturday and go what you know what we're expecting the host playoff games that Saturday. I think you'd have to even it might even be weird this year forever. We've thought well there's going to be a great December basketball game. We'll go to that and occasionally you know you get a music city bowl or something some fans go but if this could be like a playoff and you can do it every few years it's going to throw off just the fan calendar. You're going to have to be prepared for December and January trips. I mean I think we would be expecting also by the way conference championship games under this schedule would be would end. So we got to win it this year. A lot of bowl games. They disappear too. I think a lot of bowl I think I would think most bowl games involving major conferences will go away and you'll end up just with secondary conferences playing bowl games. That's just that's just my guess. It's harvest season and cornbread hemp is bringing the good life straight from the farm to your front porch. Hemp homies oil oils. Hemp homies. Our books are being banned, scanned by AI and destroyed. I'm Jacquie's Peace Thomas, and on this season of the Black Lit podcast, we're outside asking some of the custodians of our stories, teachers, and our modern day writers. Why? They don't want a whole bunch of little elevators, smack 'em access and martin with the Kings on their own. They want to build children who have no empathy. That's really the ultimate goal. We want books that don't make white kids feel bad. So is the war on literacy and affirmation or our ability to connect? Well, people with a know how sexy reading is and how fun they could be and not always associated with education. They could be in a state. They could be entertainment. And that is the beauty of reading. It can be all of those things. And considering this is Black Reading Month, the only real question is, what are you reading next? This is Black Lit from the Black Effect Podcast Network on our iHeart Radio at Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcast. Bloomberg's Big Take Podcast has everything you need to know about the most expensive midterms in U.S. history, like the money being spent to control the Senate. You have El Saeed, who is a former health official, giving rise to a lot of the economic populism. Well, it's essentially now everyone, right? Gambling, super PACs, sports betting companies, there is obviously the AI super PACs, don't just witness history unfold, understand it. They redistricted Texas, we're the Mac daddy, and it's going to backfire. Catch the Big Take podcast every weekday, and tune in Wednesdays for the latest on the midterms. Mario's not off, so he can't hear this. Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio here live, come on, here you go. This has become a big crowd here, and if you all can see it, we're in this very little room, and people just keep piling in, and we appreciate it, so people on the door, you're cold. You cannot make her stand outside. There's a room right in here, they can come in. You can go this room right in here, I don't want to make 'cause she looks cold. And we are here live at Walk Through Plans. We got Ryan Limon, Drew Franklin made a surprise appearance here. The person writes, "Drew has been great previewing the games. He tends to pick the players that I think that will have an immediate impact. Who's his player for tomorrow?" We have a few guys with Oklahoma connections that have already played their transfer here, but I'm not looking at them. I'm looking for the Texas guys that hate Oklahoma. Okay. So CJ Baxter, I know he's popped up on the engine report, hopefully we see him. I got a line back from Texas bow bar. So I'm gonna watch those two guys and hope they have a little hate in their heart from that robbery. I like that I like to have those guys that have the Texas Oklahoma thing And then you know that they were there last year to Texas they understand what that playing Oklahoma's all about Do we think CJ Baxter's playing? He's been doing media interviews There's a guy that covers SEC Conno Conno Hara that tweeted like I just did a sit down about the game I don't think UK would have done that if they didn't think he was playing. Are you surprised by the way at how much UK is putting these guys and these coaches out there. I mean, they're going on every show like if you have a show They'll they'll give you somebody whether it's whether it's Will Stein or a player. I mean, I love it I think it's great from a marketing perspective including like they're going on shows that I didn't even know existed Just to get it out there. I think that's great run. It's again the complete opposite of what they used to do any publicity Good publicity and when you're Kentucky football and things are all you want in your name out there as much as possible So those recruits for future years or we'll see in it and watch what's going on and like the like the snapback sports I still don't really know what that is They're getting their own influencers in and they're ranking UK is like the second best environment they've ever seen That stuff UK didn't do much of in the past either. I will tell you I don't think I'd ever heard of snapback sports But I can like I feel like I see a video from them at UK Every single day multiple times like they were there this weekend and and they showed their videos about UK Are their most watched videos of all time so clearly we provided a good experience and I think that's positive for everybody And they're just one example of like young influencers the UK's let him come in and look around and they're putting it out and Ranking them with you know all the big schools that we know of are we the cool school now in the SEC football? Well, I mean, yeah, I think we kind of are I know that sounds I I certainly think for them from when it comes to the non-powers Kentucky has gotten this little like Hinge of coolness in football the combination of that uniform and the combination of like the the crazy way We've won and the environment and the field storm and going for two I think that's the iconic thing this guy has on his shirt I do drew kind of think We might be cool. I think we are. I mean everybody likes when Lane kiffin loses. We just gave him a loss That's I think I think that help really I think you're just a neutral observer that sits down and Kentucky's playing LSU You're probably gonna be a Kentucky fan because that's this is the villain in him And then you go and get a win that just adds to Kentucky's the allure of them being cool and the new program Yeah, most people don't like Shane Beamer and Lane kiffin we as beat both their butts Got him boom and Michael go and Michael go Paul Miller Ford gave us the vehicle Alumni Hall gave us this nice I went out there and got this t-shirt good and then Gary C Johnson will represent us if we get in in some sort of lawsuit With Ryan getting punched at the game who's up next Adam Adam go ahead Adam Adam all right. Let's try Malone. No Adam Malone. Go ahead Malone fan of your work. Good morning. Good morning guys Adam was wondering if you'll have a dinner plan for tonight or a lunch plan tomorrow. If not got the perfect suggestion What is it? We got a lot of people here going so tell them where to eat all right well between the Matt and Maran show and The 6 p.m. Central volleyball game Since they're in the woman on campus. They have a one-of-a-kind No other place like it in the world. It's the only all you can eat Chick-fil-A And they have an all you can eat Chick-fil-A in Norman Oklahoma Yeah, I didn't what they call couch restaurants like a part of the country running the couch Part of the couch restaurants, but I don't know what you mean about all you can eat So you know like UK has a meal hall for students. You pay 17 Okay, go in there's 14 different kinds Like Mediterranean and stir fry home cooking. So they have it. Oh you they have a Chick-fil-A The only one in the world that all you can eat so what what I love to see is So wait a minute again, you're not I don't feel like you're describing this well You're saying you just pay when you walk in and there's a bunch of restaurants and you can get whatever you want and Chick-fil-A is one of them Yeah, and my son Carter he was thinking even about going to oh you just for that reason even though he's such a big UK thing All right, I'm gonna I'm gonna look at this I pre- nope, this is on All right, go ahead sir I'd love to see Mario and Ryan film a video with all you can eat see how many nuggets they can eat you got have a friend All right, I gotta I gotta cut you off. I appreciate the call couch restaurants is it is at Norman, Oklahoma at the dining hall You can pay an amount of money and you walk in and there are 14 different dining concepts and you can get Whatever you want at them. One of which is a Chick-fil-A makes sense a UK you like swipe in and then it's just a free-for-all So they have a Chick-fil-A station students can access the meal with a game plan and then on game days The general public can as well. That seems very dangerous on a game day just to allow all of those people to To go and do that it doesn't it so we're getting all morning. Yeah, I'm hungry. Let's go over here I mean it does sound kind of awesome and I do think you could eat a lot of Eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven We're gonna continue to preview the weekend talk a little bit more about what happened with Mark Pope and the UK basketball team at media day and Get us ready to storm Norman, Oklahoma.
