#2 Change Your Environment, Change Your Life.

The speaker emphasizes that altering one's environment is crucial for achieving personal growth and success. He shares his own experience of realizing that his job and social circle were limiting his potential, leading him to save money, leave his job and relationship, and move to Thailand to reinvent himself as a content creator. This drastic change allowed him to break free from old identities and eventually build a multi-million dollar business. To replicate this transformation, individuals must audit their entire environment: relationships, media consumption, physical spaces, and habits. This involves spending less time with people who lower standards, removing distractions like unhealthy food or excessive entertainment, and replacing them with inspiring inputs such as motivational podcasts and books. The subconscious mind is continuously shaped by these inputs, so curating them deliberately helps align actions with aspirations. Ultimately, change should be pursued for personal fulfillment rather than external praise, while safeguarding energy from negative influences.

Welcome back brother, we are now onto episode two. Last week you made the decision to turn pro and hopefully for last seven days or whenever you listen to that podcast you have been working on turning up for yourself day in, day out. Now episode two is an era of my life that was absolutely fundamental to having any form of success and it's changing your environment will change your life and that's all aspects of your environment. The location you're at, the people you're around, the books that you read, the movies you allow yourself to watch. To become the person that you really want to be, you have to train the subconscious mind with your environment. You have to make it easier to be the person you want to be than to be the person that lives with comfort. And so in today's podcast I want to sit down with you, tell you a bit about my story and how I changed my environment and give you the steps that you need to change your environment in all areas of your life to become the highest potential version of yourself. So let's begin with my story. I realized that environment was holding me back when I was around twenty two years old and I came to this realization sitting in my, I was probably twenty one actually, I was sitting in my nine to five job and I was a manager of a call center and I was making sometimes fifty thousand dollars a year of commission in the UK. That's not bad like the average salary in US dollars is probably thirty thousand dollars a year, maybe less. So for a guy that was twenty one years old, I was told by people around me he's a successful guy. I was the most successful of all the friends I had at that time. The majority of people I hung out with had no job. They were still either at university or were just working very, very simple, low paying jobs and smoking a lot of weed and nice people, cool people, had a good time with them, had a laugh with them. But a lot of the guys I was with, I was in Bournemouth at that time, a lot of the guys I was around were not operating at the standard that I wanted to be out. I didn't know a millionaire at that point. I'd never met a millionaire. I now pretty much exclusively friends with multi millionaires. My circle, the new elite, the network I run, the guys I hang out with in Dubai, the guys I know all over the world are pretty much exclusively like millionaires, millionaire network. And this took time to build and it's been transformative. But I realized one day sitting at my nine to five, I think I read it somewhere on a blog. Somebody put up, if you want to see what your life's going to be like in thirty years time, just look at the guy who's fifty years old working the same job as you right now. And I looked across into my office at the time where I was kind of king of my team and I looked to the guys above me and I knew them and I saw they were out of shape. They were fucking depressed. They had problems with their life at home. They'd never made good money. They hated coming into the office. The skin was grey and I just suddenly fucking realized I was like holy shit. People are going to tell me my whole life I'm doing well and I'm going to turn into that and I'm going to hate every second of it. And that staying here in this environment is going to lead to me becoming like that. There's no doubt about it. I will become the five people I spend the most time with and I'm spending time with these people in a call center. I'm not spending time with millionaires. There wasn't a job where the guy above me was going to mentor me into a success or that there was an inspirational person in the office. The owner of the business didn't come in. He owned it from afar and it was workers. Workers owned this business, not people that you would admire. And I realized that's what I was going to become. And so I hatched a plan and I would do this and my lunch break. I would do this when I got home from work. I became obsessed with breaking out of the reality that I currently had and I started making a plan. And the first step to this plan for me was save your fucking money. I suburbed, you learned in the last episode that's around the time I went sober. I started saving my money. So I can get 10 grand together and quit this job and I can move somewhere else and I can give it a good go. So I started doing that. I started saving my money when I came committed. The work had purpose, getting the commissions had purpose. I started going to the gym before work and turning up. I had a better shape and a better mood and I let my team really well. And I was asked not to leave when I left when I quit my job. And that was them trying to sort of claw me back in as I'd become this better person, more admirable person already. But I decided that I was going to leave that environment. And I also had a girlfriend at the time and there was nothing wrong with that relationship. The kind of relationship you could stay in and get married to. She was a nice girl. I realized that as much as the relationship wasn't wrong. I was not the man that I needed to be to start a family, to have a woman in my life. And I left that to great pain. Not because she was particularly holding me back, but I knew the pain I had to go through and the risks I had to take had to be taken alone. And so I left that environment. I got rid of the apartment I shared with her. I moved in on my own whilst I was finishing up my job and saving my money. And then I moved from my apartment that I had so low for a few months whilst I was saving. I then quit my job and I moved back to my hometown in with my parents for a month to get ready for my flight to Thailand. I booked a one way ticket to Thailand after watching the movie The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio. I was like, that's where my passion for filmmaker will come out. If I film things there, I'll have a story. I'll have an adventure to talk about. It will give me great video ideas. It will be exciting and the film will look great. And that's what I'm going to do. And I don't have a job there and I don't know anyone there, but I'm going to figure it out. And I'm going to change to that environment. What this allows you to do is I was known to everybody for a few things. I've been known for a few things depending on what stage of life people met me at. I was known in university as being an absolute fucking maniac. I was held to that standard of this is the guy that drinks some parties better than everybody else. I was in a maniac and I was held to be in the sales guy. I was held to be in the cool center manager. That's what he does. He turns up. He's a good cool center manager. I didn't want to be that. But that's what your environment will hold you to. Whenever somebody sees you growing outside of what you currently are, it points a mirror at them. It says, I'm changing. I'm becoming more like I can be and they go fuck. I'm not doing that. I don't want to do that. That's hard. That's difficult. That's not comfort. I've got to keep this person the same. We can all be sad crabs in a bucket. People don't do it on purpose. Don't dislike them for it. It's just the way it is. But you have to break out of that. So I broke that environment. I decided I'm going to rebrand myself and everybody I meet is going to know a new version of me and I'm not going to be around anybody that comments on the things that I'm doing now. I physically separate myself from the world that I know until I'm strong enough and a new enough man to come back to it as a new person that people respect. And so I went away to Thailand and every person I met, I told them, I'm a content creator. I make YouTube videos before I had any subscribers. I'm like, yeah, I'm working on my business. I got my personal brand and that's who I am. It wasn't true yet. I was doing the work, but I had no results yet. But that environment changed and I decided to become a new person with that environment. And over time, through spending time on my own, I found who I was and I committed to my disciplines and I made videos and I didn't care what anybody at home thought because I wasn't there. And I became a new person in my own new little world, in my own new environment where there was only one goal and I was to make the best content possible. It was to become a success, to become the strongest version of myself and to not return home until that was done. If I returned home at all, I'd never have four years I left. Four years ago and I've never lived in the UK since. I left four years ago with no money. Ten K, no income. I've made nearly four million dollars in the last four years. I live in a villa in Dubai. That's what changing your environment can do for you. So that's a little bit of my story and obviously it's a lot deeper than that and some of you will know more of it. But how do you start changing your environment and what do you need to understand about changing your environment and how it's holding you back? So you've heard it before and it's just absolutely true, but I'll say it again, you become the average of the five people that you spend the most time with. What most people don't realize is that the five people you spend the most time with doesn't have to be in the real world. It's just inputs to your subconscious mind, what you're physically around and also what you're mentally around, what you put into your mind. So the changing your environment, you may not be in a position to go, I fucking say but my money and go to a new country, you might not even want to do that. But you have to realize that every input that goes into your mind is programming the subconscious in a certain way. So I'd realize this when I was younger because I would watch movies and then I would come out of the cinema after watching a violent movie and punch my brother in the fucking head and get told off by my mama and then my mama said, you can't watch a fucking violent movie because you got to punch your brother again. And I go, no, my mama, it's there. I wanted to do that anyway. They, they, they, um, movie did not impact me at all, and I just enjoyed it. I was gonna punch him anyway. I'm just being funny now, but I've realized that the things I was putting into my mind had a very big effect on who I would become. I saw this with the movie Limitless. Have you ever seen the movie Limitless about taking the, the miracle drug that makes you smart? He'd like Tideys' bedroom and sources shit out. I kid you not every time I watch that movie, I fucking Tidey my room. That's like subconscious inputs. What you listen to, you watch a lot of, I've got nothing against them. Watch a lot of notebooks. See what you start doing. You pick up their language, their traits, you start partying. You start doing what's cool in their world. People don't realize this. The TV you watch, the movies you watch, the books you read, the people you're around, the people you chat with, the things you watch on social media, it all affects your subconscious mind, it affects your view of yourself. So for me in my environment, I can't watch the fucking wall for Wall Street. If I watch the wall for Wall Street, in about a week's time, I'll be smashing some bird I don't know and drinking alcohol and maybe doing even worse. I say that from fucking experience. I've done that. And then I'm like, why did I do that? Why I mess up my routine? I'm like fuck, I've watched Wall Street last week. It has such a powerful effect on my subconscious mind. Same with the videos I watch. So you have to do an audit of your entire environment and you can do this in a few ways. Number one, you wanna audit your relationships, the people that you spend time with and see if it raises or lowers your standards. And if it doesn't raise your standards, you need to lower the amount of time you spend with that person. Simple as that. And focus on putting an input in that does raise your standards. 'Cause you can spend time with the right inputs by podcasts exactly like this. Me and you are on a mission to become the best version of ourselves in 2026. And right now, me and you are spending time together on this podcast and I'm saying my experience and what I do and you're sitting there listening to it like we're having a conversation. That is an input on your subconscious mind. This is training your mind on what you should and should not be doing. And through me saying it to you, it's also training my mind on what I should and should not be doing to live an alignment with the person I wanna become. So for every person that you think, "Oh, I shouldn't spend as much time with that person "cause I do bad things." You cut that time down and you can be polite about this. Just say, "Look man, I'm really busy on building this thing." If you wanna come, Jim would be in, like do these things, like every awesome to do it together. But this thing means a lot to me. Like becoming this person is actually my biggest goal. And I'd love your support and help doing it. I say with friends, like when you quit alcohol, my friends don't try and make me drink. If they tried to make me drink, then they're not friends. They're doing it for their own good. They wanna feel good. If they actually support you in your life, the two guys I live with, Max and Bill. Two very good friends of mine. Max is sort of videographer and my right hand, man Bill's also my right hand man, but does more of the web stuff and building back in. We're a great team. They both still drink, rarely, but they still drink. They don't say to me, Jack, come and drink. They want to see me do the best in my life. They don't say to me, Jack, don't make that video today. Come out with us. They don't do that because they're friends, because they're real friends. So you say to your friends, the people in your environment, look this is who I'm becoming. And don't expect them to believe you at first, 'cause you've probably broken a shit ton of promises to yourself. Do it always for you. But once you're into that routine and you're not really vibing what they're doing anymore, feel free to say to them, "I'm not coming, pub guys. "If you want to hang out with me, I'll be at the gym." We could do high rocks together or we could go boxing class together, but it's just not who I want to be. And I understand if you guys want to keep doing your thing, you don't have to do what I'm doing, but it's just what makes me happy, man. And I'd love your support with it, but if not, I get it. But I'm not, I'm not not hanging out with you 'cause I don't like you. I've got my own goals. It's as simple as that. Positive people, the give you energy, support your environment, and people you spend time with. If they don't support it, if they're not there for it, if they fuck it up or bring in habits, it's your responsibility, it's your job to reduce the amount of time that you spend with those people. And then you look into other areas of your life in your environment. What's in your environment? I'll play station. Well, when it's nine o'clock at night and you've got a work out to do, or you've got the play station back in and you're over, what's gonna be the easier, more comfortable decision to make? It's always gonna be to go over and do the comfort. Play the play station, hang out with your friends online and play a bit of PS5. Play a little bit of college or your disambus. I'll get it, I've done it. But if the play station wasn't there in your environment, you couldn't have an option. If you open the fridge in the middle of the night when you're hungry, there's nothing in there, but water and eggs. You're gonna make yourself some eggs. You're gonna drink some water. If there's pack of Doritos and chocolate bars in there for your treat times, for your fuzzy tingle times, when you're allowed a little treat, a nice little bit of pleasure. If they're in there, you have them. You remove it from the environment. Same with the movies you watch. You watch things that inspire you to be a better man. You listen to podcasts that inspire you. You stop scrolling reels. You get rid of every time a reel comes up that's a fucking woman's ass. Some only fans girls shaking her tits at you or some fucking idiot streamer telling you it's a good idea to do fucking meth and drink all the time. Every time that comes up, you get rid of it from your environment. You say not interested. If you're gonna watch any reels, the sole reason is because you want motivation or you want to watch something and learn something from people that inspire you that have the life you want. Go through and bulk them follow all those fucking people that do not add to your life in your environment. And audit every part of your environment. Audit your phone, the daily consumption, the time you spend scrolling. Every time you're scrolling, you could be reading something that makes you a better, more intelligent man. Just remember that. Could we read the James Bond books? Every night before bed instead of scrolling. Fantastic books. And you pick up some of his characteristics, how he is with women, and what it's like to be James Bond. His fiction, but it's fantastic. You read books on your phone. You listen to audio. You listen to podcasts. You do your work. You do your outreach. You make your content. That's it. And every little bit of entertainment and things that are just making it feel like a good idea to not be the person you want to be, you remove from your environment. Go through your physical space and clear your fucking physical space. Go into your wardrobe and get rid of all the shit that you don't want to wear anymore. Or you've not worn for years. Get rid of it all. Send it to charity. Inside your environment, there should be things that fit with the person you are. You should go in that wardrobe. You should feel inspired. You should go, "Yeah, I want to put this on." This is the man I am. The man I show up has, get rid of all that other shit. All the mess in your room. Anything you can sell. Things that take away from your productivity. Your vape pen. Your fucking weed stash. Your alcohol, your bottle of vodka on the side. Your bottle of grey goose that's up there is some ornament. Get rid of it all. And replace it with things that improve your environment. Where am I going with this? Bear with me, Traps. Another thing you want to do is you want to identify every time you complain and you gossip and you want to remove that. You. They are viruses. So anybody you end up gossiping or complaining with or having cynicism with. That things aren't possible life so bad. Anything that's like that. Any form of social media. Any form of conversation with a friend. Any chat group. Anything like that that feels that way. You treat it as a virus and you get rid of it. And you don't need to make this dramatic. Just as I said earlier, it's just a quiet exit or a quiet withdrawal as you work on yourself for you. Not for anyone else. And that a big tip that I would give you is, don't do this for anybody else. Don't do this for anyone else's praise. Don't expect your friends to turn around and say, "Wow, look at the person you've become. Do this for you. Turn up quietly for you. Turn up quietly with your own goals and become proud of yourself for you in your new environment." That's what it takes. It's just as soon as you give that idea to someone or say that you've become this good person and they talk down about it or you forget this little boost of dopamine from talking about yourself. I've done that so many times. It just steals your energy. Be careful with your energy. And notice on the topic of energy, notice and audit how things affect your energy. Write down the people that you leave conversations with and feel like you're going to go and conquer the fucking world. So you might write down right now when I sit down with Jack on a podcast, I leave with energy and I'll say, "Well, I've better, Jack sir. Good impact on my life. I'm going to keep that content." Maybe you notice that you spend some time with one of your friends and they always complain about their job and they never do anything about it. You feel low and depressed afterwards. So they're always talking about the news. And you remove that thing and you protect your energy like you protect your money 'cause your energy is where everything comes from. So you're actively looking to seek this environment where no inputs come in that don't fit your worldview, that don't fit becoming the person you are. Everything from your physical environment, your social media environment, your physical reality with the people you're around all gets audited. And then you want to look for places to expand because I understand people get lonely and they want to be around people and I think being around the right people is one of the life's greatest gifts when I am around the right people in my life. Man, I get so fucking hyped up. Like if I'm around someone that's really a much higher standard than me, I like, I try and improve to their standard. I'm like, wow, I feel inadequate right now. I've never seen it as a bad thing. I've never seen it uncomfortable but I always feel like, fuck yeah, I can do more. This guy's doing more. I get all this energy from it. Finding those people I understand is like, it's difficult at the start but when you do find them, it's fucking brilliant. And a few ways you can find those people is one of the best investments I think you can make as a young man is rather than going to the 10 pound or 15 dollar a month or 20 dollar a month Jim. With the 9 to 5, whatever money you've got, work out at the best possible fitness or health club in your area. Either with the best physique or ideally a club with the best business owners. That's always been the right thing to do for me. I've had a lot of opportunities and a lot of changes in my thinking from sitting in the sauna at a nice health club and meeting a successful businessman or the people that see you go in there and train and turn up as a professional, become your friends and those people are usually doing well in business because the fucking people that are obsessed with comfort, they normally at the cheapest gym and they don't turn up that often. And some people are just obsessed with the gym but they don't have much money and it's a representation of who they are. Why would you train at a cheap gym? Why would you be around that environment? You want to find the most expensive fitness club that you can possibly afford and spend your time there to meet new people that will raise your frequency. It will pay you back dividends. Imagine you've cut out from your life so you turn pro, you can't alcohol, you cut out fast food, you cut out the things you were buying before and you use that money to go to the best gym and you make better connections, meet better people, you take your training more seriously, you feel better about yourself. This is one of the highest RRI things you can possibly do. The moment in Dubai, I got a four gym memberships at the best gyms. Just for the sake of some are convenient, some are really like the people at, some are like for video content like it's a great area to expand your life. Also, the restaurants you visit, if you're going to go out and eat somewhere with high quality food, do not put shit in your body and be in a high quality environment, high quality people. If you're going to work, if you work for yourself, work at a fucking five star hotel, the best one you can be at, dress up, go there with your laptop, sit in the lobby, talk to one person every time you're in there. You'll meet some amazing people travelling through. I'm sure no matter what city you're in, there's probably a nice establishment. You can go to meet the staff, get their name, become known in there and start to build a reputation for yourself. Also, the forums or communities you join. Make sure any forums you're in are positive, make sure the communities you join are positive. If you want to network with those people, one of the first things I ever did was I joined a online community about personal brand back in the day and I was around some people that were already doing well and I was like, wow, it is possible. That's what I needed to see. I've run that myself. I run it with icon blueprint, our personal branding program where I do weekly coaching calls. We have an entire program and a community for guys looking to break out of their nine to five with a personal brand. If you're interested in that, just DM me the word icon on Instagram. We've got the new elite. That's a high level entrepreneurs network, 350 members around the world, seven figure owners. It's awaiting less now. We're new elite isn't currently open. But if you want to join the waiting list, just DM me the word wait list. We do occasionally reopen a few times a year when we do in-person events, we're taking new members, but 350 was kind of where we kept out on membership to keep it personal. I like to know everyone. But just understand that in terms of environment, one conversation with the right person can compress years of learning into a singular point. And that's an important thing to be around. So change the books, change the social media, change the people around your life, do the audit and understand that you will become what you repeatedly expose yourself to. The subconscious absorbs everything and builds your reality from it. God, the first and last hour of your day, the most valuable hours you have for training your subconscious, no phone in the morning, no phone in that hour before night, add high value inputs into your mind in those hours. And morning inputs especially are the inputs that filter and build the rest of the day. And so I'll leave you with this. Change your environment or it will change you. This week remove one negative input and add one positive. The circle you build in the next three years will determine your success for decades after. Choose deliberately. And I will see you next week guys has been a pleasure. And I will see you on the next one.
