Hello and welcome to Smoshmouth. I'm Shane Topp. Oh, I'm Courtney Miller. Hello, I am Amanda Lehan Cantot and it is someone's very special birthday, can you tell? His name is Shane Topp. Shane Topp, happy birthday. Happy birthday. It's my birthday. It's your birthday. It's September. It is September 14th today. Look happy. Look at you. Yay boy. Okay, now I'm going to be serious. Oh, whoa, he's taking off the hat immediately. Did I do that? Hey, you both weren't cowboy boots. Yeah. Where's the horse parked? Am I right? We don't share a horse. The horse shares us. I love that. I can see that happening. It's your birthday. It's my birthday. So I was told 45. Yep, 45. That's true. Hey, I like it. Hey, you look fantastic. I'm actually, I'm kind of excited to someday be 45. I kind of agree. I think I feel good about. I think you are born to be 45. Yeah. I think I was born to be like 65. Honestly, no, I think about this a lot. I think you are going to be at your acting career will be at its peak in your 60s. Oh, 100%. I'm Helen Mirren. Yes. Watching like so many shows, I'm just like, you're going to be able to play so many insane characters in your 60s. Oh, I can't wait. White hair. Maybe I'll be Dale Dickie. I was thinking of the same thing. White hair. The world is going to lose it. Thanks. People talk so much about being afraid of aging. And I'm just like, dude, like you just have to embrace the evolution, like the new characters you get to be the versions of yourself. You get to have to grieve the maiden. We have to move on from the maiden. We have to turn into goes maiden something crown. Have you used the crown? Say goddess, whatever. I'm in my goddess era. And you know what? I'm so ready. I cannot wait to be white haired. Wow. Yeah. Or like really cool. Imagine if it comes in as streaks. Wow. Are you going to let your hair go white? Yeah. I would. I think it looks awesome. Me too. When do you have like, we were also talking on the podcast of the week about how like, there might come a time to where from older and I'm like, oh, my hairlines receding or whatever. I'm like, I would love to try like shaved head vibes. Yeah. Shaved head and then like a graying beard. This is what I said. Shaved head long beard but like trimmed a little here so it took a little bit longer. Vikings. That'd be super cool. I just love that bodies do their thing. You know, like that your hair just starts to change a color. It's so cool. I'm ready for it. I have like some white strands just like around here. Yeah. Pretty cool. So yes, Liam told me that I get to pick all the topics and choose what we talk about. I'm actually really excited about that. Yeah. I mean to be fair to a certain degree every episode is a bit of you and I get it to do that. So it was kind of like, what am I going to talk about that? We don't talk about all the time. Let's see. Oh, I have my. Oh, do you have your phone? Oh, your phone. I thought about like, I was like, do I have the iPad? And I'm like, no, I'll just have my phone. No, that's reddit Shane. This is Smoshmouth Shane. Yeah. So I was like, think about like, oh, what are all the things I love to talk about? Your wife. Yes, my wife. You like talking about me? I talk about you. Are you kidding me? Yeah. Yeah. You talk about you all the time? Yes, actually. He says my wife. We did. We did. And I did tell you about it. I made a joke about your sneezes that did have us all laughing really hard. You were laughing so hard. Sometimes you sneeze and it's a burst and it is intense and I made a joke that it's like a grenade going off in a in a war movie. It's like, it's like, we're tall silent. It was so funny. And the thing is that him acting it out was so funny. Hey, and then I said, when H sneezes, he screams. Really? Yes. And we get in like a little, a little bit of some fights about it. Yeah, it's scary. Because it's in public. You know, cringe that is for me. We're like across the street, about to cross the street. And he screams and people are like, what happened to that man? Like, he's dying or something. Yeah. The response is horrible. That's true. If it sounds like someone's in trouble, he woke up cold once and I was like, you're done. And he was like, I'm done. And was he able to stop? Yes. So it was a choice all along. Dude, he, no, he likes to do it, but he leans in. It is. It's good for you. It's satisfying. I do that sometimes with yawns. Any bodily function deserves the time to be loud. Hell yeah. A mask. Loud pissing. Oh my god. He would be urinal just going, oh, okay. Now there are, I will say, unfortunately, at some public bathrooms, there are guys who are making too much noise. Oh, you're kidding me. It's gross. All the guys here nodding. There'll be a guy and he'll walk up to the urinal and you're kind of minding your own business and you're just you're like, you're just kind of like, come on man. And I have to ask you, do you ever look over or you just like, oh, you got to stay looking at the tiles. Oh, wait, look at the tiles. You do not look to the sides because you just, you don't want to look because they want to start a conversation, you think? No, no, but I'm not able to talk while at the urinal. Some dudes will be talking at the urinal. No, no, no, no. Well, it's fine. Like, I just cannot do that. I'm not a multi-tasker in that way. But all you talk, you're like, are you feeling okay? Yeah, I'm talking, you're me stop peeing. Yes, anyways. So many ways. Like with the music. Turn down the roof of the talk. One time I was at a movie theater and after the movie, the urinals are just packed, right? So like, I'm at the urinal, but I hear a guy, like, as he's trying to zip up, he says pretty audibly, just goes, Oh, fuck, I pissed myself. At me and my buddy walked through the bathroom, we were just dying laughing. Oh, wait. So we filmed a sketch called "Every Bathroom Ever" forever ago, like a long time ago, where we are. And you guys had me in this crazy costume as a guy, like, yelling at the urinal. And I was like, this is funny, but that never happened. That's an exaggeration. But no, some guys are like, kind of loud. They're like, kind of like, they needed to pee really bad. So I guess they're feeling relief and they're. That's so funny to me, because women are another level. Yeah. They're trying to, like, keep it quiet. But what comes out? Oh, it's not quiet. They're like, like, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click. They go and it's like, "Yo, boy." That's right. That's right. It's frying chicken. And they're like, Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God. Does anyone have a tampon? Oh, God. Amanda. Do people make requests like that? Not often. If someone's out of toilet paper, though, I will say there is, like, a really awesome thing that happens, where it's just like, Oh, no. I'm sorry. Hey, in the next stall, is there any toilet paper? And it's like, yeah, of course. It gives you, like, a fat star. Yeah. And if someone needed a tampon, and I don't often get asked out in a bathroom, if I had one, I would happily give it to them. Nice. I kind of want one to feel more free but the bathroom is the place that they, they're, they're sending it down. They're like, Oh, my God. This is delicious. Thank you so much. I'll have another wine. I just have to go the bathroom one second. Oh, yeah. What is happening? Oh, my God. Oh, I bitched myself. The absolute worst. I love that this is what we're talking about for my birthday. Hey, you wanted it. Let's talk about peeing is the troughs at at men's like sports dating. We went to a music festival once and they had like a big public bathroom area, which was nice instead of like just a bunch of porta-potties. But like, there was just this massive like, and you're, you're peeing into a river. I've never seen that like me. And you see how dehydrated other people are. Oh, like, do you think you created a being together in there? Like, do you think everything's together? Pee wants to create a monster. I'm dehydrated. Do you think so many things coming out of your bodies? Like, what could happen? What could be made? Just pee. It's just waste. Just pee in the trough. I did not see what if you have to go. There are toilets. There were also toilets. This is awful. Anyways, let's move on. We must move on. I have a list of things that I love. Happy birthday, Shane. All right. First off, my birthday, September 14th. So Sapphire, how do we feel about it? I love a Sapphire. A Sapphire. A Sapphire feels very like queen, queen like Sapphire. I'm pretty happy with my birthstone. I think you have a good one. That's why I was excited about it when it got brought up. Yeah, she hates her as but we learned that. What's yours? Yeah. My gorgeous. I always just like, it's pearl. It's boring. It's like pearl is beautiful, but it's not like a cut gem. On cut gem. I think pearls. Yeah, but you have, but you turns out I have Alexander. What does it get? Alexander. And rhinestone. And rhinestone, which is gorgeous. Do months have like multiple? This is a moonstone. Well, maybe look up. Maybe September has multiple. Do not have multiple, but June has multiple. June. Gemini's. Gemini's, they have to. June's. Oh, yeah, because yeah. Because yeah, but you are a Virgo and you are Sapphire. Sapphire gives like magic. Yeah, it is multiple here. Sapphire gives me like June has three official birthstones. The classic pearl, the rare color changing Alexander and the glowing moon stone. Yeah, gorgeous. Very cool. Mine's amethyst. It's like purple. Amethyst is beautiful. I love them. I know, but as my millennial, I feel like I went through a big purple phase and I'm like purple means something else. Do you know, purple feels very nice. Purple is 90s. Really? Purple and green are horny colors apparently. They are. Can you. Can you look up? It's apparently green and purple are together our colors that are red. I thought red colors saying Barney is horny. Hey, I thought red was kind of like the horny color. Me too. Yeah, it's like the devil red dress red nails. Purple is not like a birthday. It's big.
- It's on the internet, internet culture. - Oh. - The purple is 40 greener. - I look at purple and I go, it's an eggplant. - Eggplant. - Oh, well, yeah. - Oh. - That's why. - Well, no, because I was in middle school high school and this girl was like, yeah, in any room, green and purple, and apparently the horny colors. - Well, I think your friend was just a liar. - Yeah, your friend lied. - Yeah, she had a lot going on. - 'Cause I always thought purple was royal. It's like a royal. - Yeah, purple is like, I think maybe back in the day, too many people use it in their weddings, that purple, yellow colors, or it feels also like high school mascot purple. - Yeah, purple is a campy color. - Yes, it's very campy. And I think I need to reinvent purple 'cause Amethyst is my birthstone. - Yeah, I mean, you could go more of like a lavender. Like, lavender's really nice. - I love lavender. - Yeah, that is so pretty. - I literally used to wish and pretend my birthstone was Amethyst. So. - When I was younger, I wanted it to be my color so bad. - I mean, it can be you. - You can wear it. - I do. She does. Relax. - Okay. - But I'm curious about this Alexandra. Rare color changing, you said? - Maybe it changes in the sun. - No, no. - Do you care more about color or like texture or like tone? 'Cause I realize like when people ask me what's my favorite color, I'm like, it kind of just depends on-- - Isn't it orange or yellow? - I would say like overall, like I would pick orange, but really what matters to me is more like tone. - Kind of the shade, but more the texture, like the texture of things. - Oh. - Like, you know, red can be really nice, but like a red gemstone versus like a red like paint job on a car, like some contact-- - I like the car paint job rather than the gemstone. - Yeah. Like I like earth tones a lot. So I almost like any color if it's an earth tone. You know, I like that a lot. - I like reddish orange. So I to answer your question, mine's tone. Mine is like the shade. But I prefer more earthy tones of certain colors. Or more like paler colors. Like a red, like a bright red. Like I don't love that bright red, but I would love like that mixed with that orange. - Okay. - Yum. - Cool. - I love red everything except for-- - Can't wear red hats anymore. - Yeah. - It's sad. 'Cause it could be a jump scare from the back. - Oh. - Yeah. - I did have a hat. I got like a red corduroy hat, and I wasn't thinking about it. - It's such a good vintage hat. - It's a really cool hat, and I walk in. And Keanu, Keanu looks at me and she goes, "Oh, jump scare." And I go, "Oh, fuck yeah." - It's so sad, it's sad. - It's like, "Oh, dang." - That's a bummer. - And we laughed about it, but I was like, "Yeah, no." - Yeah. - But she didn't laugh about it later. - No. - When she wrote a report. (laughing) - We had a company-wide meeting. This episode of Smoshmouth is sponsored by Fabletics. - I have not been feeling very comfortable in my active wear lately. I have these yoga pants. Would you ever wear like a bleeding ring? - No, I'm not like a big jewelry guy. I mean, I know I wear some rings now, but like-- - Well, they're all, they're either legally bound or functioning properly. - They're like purposeful. I sometimes wear wear a necklace, but it's a minimal necklace. I can get used to it over time, but at first it's really hard for me. Like, I don't like the new thing on me. - I love when men wear like a thin kind of gold bracelet or a thick one, or I actually don't mind like a little earring. - I think all that stuff's cool. There's so much stuff that I think is so cool, but I either feel weird about on myself, or like I'm too-- - You don't know how to identify with? - I'm too particular with myself. Like, I've talked about this a lot with tattoos. Like, I think tattoos are so cool. I love tattoos on people. I don't have any because I'm like, so particular, and I'm so like, well, what would I get? Well, where would it be? What would it be? Yeah, so I haven't had one yet, but-- - When you're 30/5. When you're 30/5. - And I'm 30/5. - You're going to be-- - 30/5. - Just earringed up. You have hoops all the way up to the earring. - You'll find porcelains filled with earrings and tattoos. - Balls? - Hoops all the way up. - Oh my god, shade head, hoops all the way up. - Hoops. Honey. - Hell yeah, dude. - My god. - That's me. - Women are going to flock. - Hey, yes. - Sorry. - I'm going to be so jacked by then and tied it up. So women are going to flock. (laughing) - We're both just fighting. - We're not going to do it. - And then I also with my birthday, I'm a Virgo. And I know my joke I make is that I'm a Virgo so I don't believe in astrology, you know? 'Cause that feels like a Virgo thing. - Let's-- - Should we check out patterns? Should we check out his stuff? - Honestly, yeah. - Tell me who I am. - Well, all I know about a Virgo is like, they care deeply about their work. They're very hard working. But without their work, they feel a little bit lost. - Yeah, that is true. - That is definitely true. - That's the main thing that I know. They're loyal, they're kind, they're very practical. They're very critical of themselves. - Yeah, that's true. - They worry and they have a deep desire to be very helpful and solve problems. - Yeah, I struggle sometimes with work where I'm like, what is the purpose of this work? I really struggle with that. I think a lot of things with me can go back to that, right? 'Cause I've talked a lot about things that I enjoy doing, right? Like watching TV shows or playing video games or even trying to pick up new hobbies, like drawing or something. I tend to go like, what's this lead to? What's the purpose? Like, what is this serve? - You need to have a purpose. - And I'm like, if there's like a community thing that it leads to, right? Like if I was like, oh, I'm gonna pick up knitting. And then I'm like, what am I doing this for? But then it was like, what if it was like, oh, there's a shortage of blankets in the community? Yours has to be like-- - And then you need people to knit. I'd be like, oh, great, so I'm doing this thing for a thing. - Connected to solving problems. You don't want mindless work. I, the only Virgo I have to compare this to is my mom. - And like-- - And we're so alike. - You guys. (laughing) - Honestly, it's hard to tell. - Honestly. - You kind of are a little bit. - You kind of are. - She is hilarious. - You do get to meet her. - I met her a few times. And she has said hilarious shit to me. - Yeah, you met her a few times. - She says the funniest stuff that I cannot repeat here. - No. - Everyone's like, would you ever want your mom on? And I was, honestly, I would. There might be a lot of edits. - Yeah, I want our viewers to think about how unhinged you are Amanda and then dial it up by a thousand. - Literally a thousand. Like when I was interviewing the moms of Smosh, right? I was like, wow, how wonderful are they? (laughing) And my mom is so wonderful. I love her so much. - Oh, she's incredible. - She says whatever the F. - There's also something because your mom has been such a giving person throughout her life, like her career and everything. She's such a conscientious person. But sometimes those people are the ones that say the craziest shit. - Yeah, they say the craziest thing. And also my mom, this is how my mom thinks about a job is she'll work until 10 at night which she did pretty much every night of my childhood so that we could go on a trip. That's how she thinks about work. It's like, I'm only doing this so I can get cash for this. - Right. - Like that's what she would do. She would massage all night. And then if I needed cash for like a school, things like, here's the cash. - Right. - Like that's just-- - That's very sweet. - But she also is just like, she works really hard and she plays really hard. - It's like, yes. - Like she plays really hard. - You were telling me about stuff she's doing now at 70 and I was like, dude. - She's not 70 yet. Two years. - Oh shit, oh she's almost there. - She's almost there. - She's same age as my mom. - No way. - Wow. - Yeah, my mom's 68. - She's almost 70. - Wow. - And she wants to do a big thing. - But she's like my mom where she's talking about like, well for my 70th, I want to do that. And I'm like, that's two years away, why are you-- - Yeah, no, my mom's like on her way to Sicily too. - That's awesome. - It's nice to have things to look for. - She's too. - Because she just works so hard. - She'll never retire. She works so hard to do. She doesn't do materialistic things. She like works to, it's awesome. - But yeah, you guys are similar, man. - Yeah. - I would say like, sometimes you can just do things for you and you is enough. - I know, and you know this, 'cause you're there for me every day, every week where I'm like, yeah, I just don't know what I should do. I'm like, and I'm over thinking everything. And you're just always like, you should just be yourself. But I'm like, I know I should. - I think the craziest thing was when Smosh, you're doing Smosh and when you were a regular on the Goldbergs and other stuff you were doing, and you're like, I don't know if I'm doing enough. I was like, bro, you have two full-on jobs right now. Like, you do more in a mind than some people do in their whole life. - I still really struggled though. 'Cause I love working here, and we put in so many hours here and do so much stuff here, but I am still sad. I really want to, and it is a genuine goal to upload more on my own channel. - Yeah. - And just not worry about it, but obviously, 'cause the video I made last year was on perfectionism, 'cause that was me trying to get past it. But I still am like, oh, if I'm gonna make a video, It has to be good.
to be all these things and then I put too much pressure on it and then I don't do it. I'm kind of similar to that, but I think when I say that it's like, oh I want to do more things, like I recognize deep down, like I want to do more things for me and just for the process of making, which is really hard nowadays in our society that's just, we're so like everything's so scrutinized and we're all, everybody's judging themselves so hard, unlike the quality of work, whatever. But I'm like, I want to get past that, I want to be someone who is like free and just making stuff for fun. So that's been a goal for a long time. Be free. I know, be free. What if you just filmed yourself like tending to your plants and you were just talking about this recent book you read? I think my plan and I even filmed a whole video last year that I then scrapped of me talking about my favorite books and that's probably going to be the next thing. I think truly I will record myself for like, you know, 10 minutes to 30 minutes, like talk about something and then like, I can't help but think I'm like, why would anybody want to watch this? Like that's the voice in my head going like, why the fuck? I have it too. Would anyone want to listen to this or watch this? Like, it's just me talking. But then again, I then go on YouTube and I watch people talking. But in my head, I'm going, well, these people are so interesting and they have such an interesting point of view unlike me. But then like, it's tough when I'm also by myself. Like I do so well putting off of people. That's what I've gotten good at. But it's another muscle that I want to work on. And it's such a skill that I'm so impressed by YouTubers who are just alone in a room talking. I'm like, that's such a skill. That is a skill. And I'm very impressed by it. But they just do it for hours and hours and hours. And then it's fun to ask that point because sometimes we'll bring in YouTubers to hear where we're such an ensemble. And you can tell there's like that layer of discomfort. And like when they're crushing it, you can tell they're just like not used to this. Yes. And it's like, yeah, because it's a different muscle. Yeah, really quick. Have you seen all the pictures of you around in this room? Oh, yeah. Have you looked at them all though? No, like there's new ones for your brain. Oh, my God. I didn't see them. Oh, wow. Why, what is this clip of you on? Is that Henry Danger? That is Henry Danger where I was obsessed with socks. These pictures are so cute. And now you have a sock. You have a sock. She has a blind box sock. Yeah, I do have a blind box sock. I do have my own sock. How old are you in that? That has to be, I don't know actually. Post drowning? That's post drowning. That's got to be post drowning. Yeah, you look a little I can see why they were worried about you. I can't handle that story anymore. It's too sad. I know. It is genuinely. It's so sad. What's the cork? Angela popped a bottle for our first episode here in the new studio. Yep. And it broke and then we have that. Yeah, cute. Which I also have a cork from when we were in Boston that I need to bring up to our to our. We have a bunch of like and dinner. We have a bunch of little. We have trinkets for each show. Trinkets from each live show of Reddit stories that we did this year. Every location. So cute. We have the we have the little Netflix is a joke little block. We have a little bear from Denver. We have a piece of the pot that Angela broke on stage in London. And then I actually don't know what we have from Montreal. Uh oh. But we have we got to have something. Oh yeah, we searched. We searched. It's sometimes hard to find. Anyways, last thing I'll say I want to go back to the Virgo thing. Last thing I'll say is I revel the in Zendaya and Tom Holland's relationship because they are like the top celebrity couple and they're a Gemini Virgo couple. Wait, really? Yeah. It's the Gemini. Tom Holland's the Gemini. Zendaya's the Virgo, which I think like, um, whoa, I like. I'm the Zendaya of our relationship. I saw some comment recently that said people are saying we give that energy. I'm like, that is the biggest compliment to ever give anyone on this. And I think you're the Tom Holland because you're like, you're the fun silly one and like outside of work. And you're the sexy one. And I'm kind of there. I'm kind of there like. Yeah, you're a fashion icon. Yeah, sure. Um, but no, I'm just like. Zendaya did have a Disney Channel teenage time. Whoa, she was there at the same time that we were filming so random. Wasn't she a spy? What was it? No, it was a shake it up. Yeah, your dancers. Well, wait, didn't she have her own show where she was like a spy? Oh, yeah, she also Casey undercover. Yeah, Casey undercover. That was a short-lived one, but yes, left. Yeah, but they were on the same studio lot as us when we're coming. I never seen her met her. And I'm Tom Holland. You're Tom Holland. And you're Spider-Man. I heard that Tom Holland is so, was so, did you know me this? He's so like booty stacked up that he had to get a double to be in that suit because it looked so like intense in the suit. That's you, boo. And that is actually Courtney. Like literally, didn't they need Bree Larson? This is what I heard. And I heard it from somebody and maybe it's not true, but I heard that him in the Spider-Man suit, he actually had to get someone else wearing it in shots because he is so stacked up. Yeah, I mean, wait, what do you mean that someone else wearing it? Like they needed to do butter racer? It would be too ridiculous. Yes, damn. Because he'd be swinging around, swinging around the New York. And people would be like, damn, Spider-Man, holy shit. No, seriously. And they'd be like, I think that's Peter Parker. Do. How are you? Peter Parker. Look at this. Give me that phone. Look at that. Unless that's Photoshopped, but well, remember that one where it was that one meme of Spider-Man with the big butt on the top of the building? He is stacked up. He is stacked up. That booty is stacked. Oh, my God. Yeah. Okay, incredible. Drag queens are like taking notes like, oh, because that looks like padding. He looks incredible. No, I heard that he has to get like a double in some shots. So it doesn't look so like, yeah, booty rock, but erasure. That's fucked up. I'm not giving this phone back. Oh, you know that thing when you're like, hey, look at this photo and you give it to your mom to look at it and she goes, oh, and then she keeps your phone for so long and she looks through all your photos. She goes, when was this? When did I take this? And you go, mom, don't look through my phone. There could be other photos there. Oh, when was this? Will you send, we post this on my wall, will you send this to me? Wow, I'm glad my mom is not like that. So that's you. You have to get me back. Okay, it's my birthday. Yeah, tell her. It's my birthday and I get to look at Tom Holland's butt. Okay, okay, look at it. It is insane. He's athletic. You're athletic. You're not far off, Shane. He does like back flips. He's all, he's flipping around Spider-Man style. Stunt. I love athletic build. But no, I'm. Sorry, keep going. Whatever you want to talk about you too. But I'm very happy that they are representing. I don't usually care when celebrities break up or get divorced and like whatever, but I would be sad because I'm like, dude, they're not going to. They have shifted the narrative because before that I felt like people always said, Gemini's and Virgo's don't aren't compatible. Can I say something crazy? Okay, listen, when we announced our wedding, it made a little bit of a splash. Yeah, splash. Do you think there is a world where a speck of our information crossed their minds when planning their secret wedding? I don't know. Do you think? They've always been very secretive. I don't know. They have. They have. They have. You're right. But you know, weddings when wedding happened, the day was many choice. Oh my God. Courtney and Shane did this. So, Tom, we're doing this, but they didn't show anybody. They really did. There's no photo. There's no photo. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. And Law Roach is just like, "Y'all missed it. I love him so much." Then Dias designer, he's just like, "Mmm, y'all missed it. It's done. It already happened." And Law Roach is so messy. It's so funny. I love it. Hey, maybe they were just like secret weddings is it. But like, I don't think we'll ever see a picture. No. And I respect that. And I love that. I love that for them. I really love that. Incredible. We kept our engagement photos as a secret for a very long time. And then you guys kept your relationship for a secret for years. Right. From everybody else. I forgot about that, y'all. I think when I first met you, you mentioned it to me. We were definitely not keeping a secret for a long time with everybody here. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. After a certain point, we started telling people, especially sometimes an occasional new coworker would be like, "Hey, is Shane single?" I'd be like, "Well, no." That was my first question. I was like, "Oh, man. Is she?" I was like, "Is this good?" You said it out loud. You walked in the building. You're like, "Hey, you." This guy. He's single. And it was like, "He's not." And then you were like, "Okay." And then you turned and picked a different thing. What about that guy over there? What about you? H would be very upset. We were already dating for like six years. It's so fun. -Big surprise. Big surprise books. We've kind of brought books. I've come up a few times in the past. -Big surprise books? -No, just a big surprise. -I want to talk about books. -Oh, I thought you meant like a big surprise. -I don't know if that's like a semicolon, colon, or something. -It's a surprise, colon. -Yes, I love books. I feel like it's been coming up a lot of books I'm reading, but I really love books. I'm trying, my goal this year is to read 52 books. -Last year was 50. -50, and I was like, "Can I read a book a week? I am behind by eight books right now." -A book only gets crazy, man. -I know. It's tough. The problem is more so. I at this stage think book goals are kind of stupid because books vary in length. I'm reading 52 books, but what if I read a book that's 500 pages? -What is the typical length of a book that you read and enjoy? -It's probably averages between 300 and 400. That's kind of the average novel length, but I've been talking about, I've been reading this series called Dungeon Crawler Carle, which is awesome. But these books now are like 500, 600 pages, right? You can kind of read them fast because it's a story that's moving along at a certain pace, which makes it easier. Sometimes literary fiction, something that's a little more character-focused, even if it's 200 pages, it can take a while because it's not like, "Oh, you're just following a story." It's kind of like delving into a character. -Yeah. -So you can use your place a little bit easier. A lot of classic fiction, right? You read something like old school. It's like, "Okay, you've got to really follow along." -You know what I like? Because smart books, I swear to God, they're way too long. I love them, but they're like 800 pages. -Damn. -You know what I like with some of them? Is the first three pages they'll have almost like a glossary of characters. -That's cool. I love a glossary. Dungeon Crawler Carle, my biggest gripe with it, is that it really doesn't have enough of that, and not only are there like 5 million characters, it's kind of within a video game, which means everybody's kind of got a bunch of items on them, right? And that stuff comes back up a lot. -See, that would be cool. -It's really cool that in the book, they're like going along. It's like, "Oh, they found this stick of dynamite." And he's like, "Oh, I put it in my pocket." And then it's like, it doesn't get brought up. And then suddenly, like, two books later. It's like, "Oh, we're facing this monster. Oh, throw the dynamite that we have." -That's a fun little surprise. -I know, but it's like, I wish I could keep track of it, because I see in like, truly, I need to like, be writing stuff down. And I'm still, it's a habit I've not gotten good at, is like annotating. Not necessarily to go back and look at my notes, but to annotate while you're reading, like, just helps you remember stuff. Like, if you write stuff down or just circle it, it's just like, "Okay, I'm just doing it a bit with the book I was just reading where I'm like, kind of just highlighting names." I'm just like, "Okay, I'm just keeping track of that name." And then as I move on, I'm like, "Okay, now I remember the name a little better." But I wish there was a little bit of an inventory stuff. -They should have like a mini workbook in the book. -I love that. -They can have, like, with pens. -I don't want to go work. I'm already reading. -Sometimes it's fun for me to read you. -I do. -But with some fantasy books and sci-fi, you need it because my god. -I bet. I bet. I bet. -Holy shit. -This is why, like, almost every single fantasy book that I've ever read has a map, which I enjoy. -Yeah. -I'm like a beautiful map. -Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Or they'll have, like, how you say things, but I think a glossary. -It's super helpful. -Didn't Cersei have a glossary? -Seriously. -I think she does. I was going to bring her up. So Madeline Miller is probably my favorite author. She wrote Song of Achilles and Cersei, which she majored in, like, Greek mythology and Greek history. So she knows all of the Iliad, the Odyssey, and all the myths, but she kind of retells them and fills in a lot of gaps, or, like. -Yeah, in the best way, in the best way. -And so she tells the story of Cersei, who is a sorceress, probably. That's probably, like, a very bare minimum explanation of her. But I haven't read it in a long time. -It's god of the sun, I think. -But she keeps, like, she has all the, like, info of these gods and heroes and stuff in the back. I love those books so much. I know she has a short story out now. And I know. I think she's working. Her next book is on Persephone. -Oh! -That's what I'm reading right now. -I need to read Cersei still. -Dude, Cersei. -Song of Achilles. -Song of Achilles, I think, is the better story, but I think Cersei's a better book, if that makes sense. -Cersei? Yes, your opinion, so. -She was really fun. -That's my opinion. That's my view. Cersei and Cersei. They're both incredible. -I'm reading receiver of many. I don't know if many people have heard of it, but it's smart. -Whoa. -It's smart, but it's, like, I know, it sounds. But no, that's Hades, one of his names, is receiver of many. -Oh, wow. -I know. Sounds muddy, but it is god of the underworld, receiver of many. So it's Hades and Persephone's story, but she originally started as Corey, which means Maiden. -Cool. -And her mom. What's her mom's name? Dmitrius or. -Demeter? Oh, no, you're Theta-Hara? -No, Demeter. -Demeter's not Zeus's wife, though. -Hara is Zeus's wife. -One of Zeus's lovers that he had a baby with. -Many. Persephone is promised to Hades, receiver of many, could mean double things. But that's what I'm reading about, and I don't know a lot of information on Persephone, actually. -Most of my info from Greek mythology is from those books, and then Hades and Hades too. So it's probably not accurate. I have very. I don't know. Retellings, fun retellings of it. I am listening to. And I listened to the previous ones a long time ago, but Stephen Fry has a bunch of books of retellings of the Greek mythology, Greek heroes, and then I'm listening to his telling of Troy of the Iliad, which has been incredible. He tells it in the most simplistic way possible, which I love, and then he has the next one, which is the Odyssey. -That's great. -It's a blast. I love it because in his telling, like, in all of Greek mythology, the gods are there, but it's a reality show. They're all these jealous assholes who are also just affecting the things that people are dealing with. -Yeah. Reading is so important, and I forget who has said it, but it's like if you've read many books, you've lived many lives, and Shane will be reading so many books. I'll see, every day, I feel like I see a different book in his hand, and I'm almost like, I feel like I'm missing out on a part of your life. You should give you a book review. I mean, he does. Sometimes, sometimes, actually, then you go, sometimes, so I love you. Sometimes, I love you. -I know what you're going to bring up. I know. -I would be eating a meal or doing something, and then, oh, here's something I'll look up. It's only he's explaining a book to me. -Oh, I've seen this occur. I've seen this occur at lunch. -Yeah, but also simultaneously. Yeah, like I'll just, it's oftentimes I'm just talking out loud. -Because no, because it helps you remember the book. -Yeah, it helps you. -It's good that I want, and I want to listen. -No, you do. -But sometimes, it's like, oh, okay, I'm on a rollercoaster. I didn't want to get up. -Do you know what? I actually relate to this so much, because I'm similar. I'll go up to H, and just talk about something that's happening. -Yes, I do, too. -I started to go, hey, do you have a second to listen to this, right now? I will have to do that, because sometimes it's like he's in the middle of something, and he's very narrow-focused, like when he's focused. -Yeah, me too. -And so I have to, and it's totally fine, but I'm like, do you have a second to talk about this? And then it's like, then I get the attention, because I do similar things. -Yeah, and to bounce back, like, there's plenty of times, Courtney, where you're calling me, and you're like telling me about your day, and I'm like, that's so crazy. And then you're like, are you playing video games right now? I'm like, yeah. -I also relate to that too. -I absolutely don't like talking about it. -That's so crazy. -I also relate to that, where he goes, yeah, click, click, click, click. -Oh, oh. -Uh-huh. -I'm like, yeah. -Are you gonna get it? -And for people listening, though, like, you and I are kind of almost in a constant dialogue, because we're changing it together all day, every day. So it's like those moments happen. You did the other day, though, we were eating. I remember, and you were asking me about the book that I was reading, and like, it's a very literary fiction book, and I was truly like, I remember just being like, yeah, it's crazy. And you're like, what's it about? I'm just like, it's just this crazy book. I was truly because I was like, I still don't know what I'm reading right now. -I know what I was like, do you like it? -And I was like, yeah. And now that I finished it, like, I thought about it. So it's called Audition by Katie Kitamura. It's getting all sorts of awards and stuff for this year, and it is a really good book. It's short, but it's hard to follow. And basically, it's a woman meets this young man who claims to, like, I don't want to actually explain too much is so short, but the book is basically split into two narratives, and two completely competing realities, and by the end of the book, you're trying to be like, which one's real? Like, what is her real life? It's kind of interesting, because it's, like I said, this is one where it's not a straightforward story. It's a little bit more of like a challenging, literary experiment, and it kind of challenges you on, like, what your judgments and assessments of are of people. -Oh, I like that. -What lies we tell ourselves and what it's a fascinating book. -I wonder what it would be if it was audio. I wonder if they would have two different audio. -Maybe. I don't know. I'm always listening to an audio book and reading a book at the same time, and usually, it's not like at the same time, but like, you'll switch back. -I listen to audio books for nonfiction mostly, but I have people who are telling me to listen to audio books for Dungeon Crawler, and I have been listening to that, and it is insane. They do so many sound effects, so many. -Oh, it's kind of like D&D vibes. -It's kind of immersive. -The guy who does the narration for the books, who reads them, he just got cast.
cast as one of the main characters in the TV show because he does it so well because there's so many characters. There's so many characters. Like a peacock original or something. Yeah. There's so many characters that aren't basically it's a guy, I don't know how to describe. It's basically like a giant alien civilization comes to earth, turns earth into a giant hunger game situation and this guy and his cat and so are going through it and there's cat who can talk now. 10 books or something like that. There's going to be 10 books probably. There's going to be 10 books. But there's eight right now. It's nuts. That's awesome. I love audiobooks. The weirdest thing happened, I also listened to audio and then read. But I like more thriller audiobooks because I find the reading is so awesome and I was listening to one and I watched, I was watching the beast in me and I was like, this woman was in the scene for maybe two minutes and I was like, her voice, I was like, that voice sounds so familiar. I paused it. It looked it up to see if she was the audiobook reader of my last book. Yep, that's awesome. And I was like, that's so, it was so trippy to see because I feel like a lot of these narrators, some are like narrators, that's what they do, they're audio narrators but like some are acting on camera and doing audio. I think people who read audiobooks are so talented, how you, especially with multiple characters are like fantasy audio, how you're able to switch, it's so impressive. And you don't need to do crazy different voices but like, you need to follow their emotions and a few of you. It's a lot. That's a lot. It is a very impressive thing. Yes. I'm extremely impressed by it. I actually, people talk about the debate of audiobooks versus reading physical books and I'm kind of like, I don't ultimately care, we've had plenty of comments that by professionals and librarians who say there is no difference for your brain, I truly struggle with audiobooks and I'm like, I need to do that more often because that's where I struggle with focus. And so like, for me, that's more of the practice because I'm like, for me, that is more challenging for me. Well, it's hard. I tend to multitask with audiobooks. I do it a lot when I'm driving but even then, I just, my brain can wander. And so. You might not have a good audiobook. No, it's, it can be great. I just can get lost and thought, but that's why I do non-fiction because I can come back to it. I get lost. I get lost. I get lost. I get lost too with audios, but if it's like a thriller and it's like an awesome voice that I'm into, then I'm like, I'm in. Yeah. I guess that for my own channel, I'll probably be uploading a video where I just talk about my favorite books. Because I get a lot of DMs. You should be like, oh, you should read this book and it's already one of my favorite books. So I'm like, I need to get a load of it. Yeah. I'm like, I need to get a load of it. I need to get a load of it. I haven't gone very far in it. Reddit stories has been such a gift. I've mentioned this before of like kind of, like I read these stories of situations I've never heard of before. And then it's seen by so many people around the world that then kind of get back to me and highlight when I've missed something or when I don't understand something. And I'm like that's fascinating that I don't know that. - Or highlight how you respond to something. I think the other thing is cool and also tricky when your friends are dating someone or whatever. They tend to call out things about you. Like, oh, you always do this. You always do that. And sometimes it can be really helpful like, oh, I never noticed I did that. And then if you can go back to past experiences and goes, oh, I do do that. Or sometimes people call out things, oh, you always do this. But it could be a projection. - Yeah. - Oh, I always do. - Or let's talk. - Hey, you missed this thing. And then it's like, I always am like, how do you decipher the truth from what is put up? - I'll put on you, right? - Yeah, that's what I have loved therapy so much. I've been in it for seven years now with a few months breaking between therapists. But that has helped me learn myself. And so when things like that happen, I feel like I can better discern when things are being put on me versus just like that gut. And it's also like how do you do the work to listen to your gut? How do you really start to listen to your gut? Because then if you get to a place, your gut will automatically be like, that doesn't feel right. Like that doesn't feel like something I can put on. And then you have to be like, why is this being put on me like this? What did I do to trigger that person that they're looking at me like I'm their mom or something or I'm their sister or something? That's why I'm like, I'm so fascinated with that stuff. But I think my journey in this is why like some self-help books or psychology is why do I respond to like that? Why do I feel like that? Why when someone says that? That makes me so angry or sad or like, I really have to ask myself these questions. That's been like lately my journey is I was so like focused on others, like, oh, why did my sister, why do my sister have this relationship? Why do my sisters, why does my mom and my sister have this? And now I'm like, why do I feel this with, you know, person A or whatever? It's like, I think if you start to like go down that journey of yourself, then you could be like, but what's tricky is you are on camera. Millions of people are listening to Reddit stories. Yeah. And then it's like, they're listening to your response to. And it's very scary because it's an immediate response. And you know, people call me out plenty of times on biases and stuff and my only response does that correct. Like, you know, and I watching it back, it's fascinating. And it's such a gift to get to see my biases and my things come out. And you know, that's something that is true for everyone. So it's like, oh, it's nice to see it. So I can, you know, kind of, yeah, come about it with a sense of curiosity of like, why do I do that? Why do I respond that way? And to continue to evolve. And I've mentioned before that like, you know, for Reddit stories, fascinating often where, by the time and episodes come out, like my view on that story has shifted drastically. I remember like seeing a comment when someone's like, oh, he said that I wonder, I wonder which story. And I'm like, it's kind of every story. And it might not be that my opinion has changed. It's just like how I viewed it like over time. You have more time to think about it. And just also I'm changing day by day with experiences. And sometimes even it's the comments that I read. And I go, oh, like that, they offered a new thought about that that I didn't have. And like, so it's just a constant. You're reading a story with not a ton of context. Sure. But it's interesting to see when I put context in that wasn't there. You know, I see that plenty of times. But I do it all the time. I'm in Borderline like psychic. I have a few of you. I do it all the time. It sounds like I did this. What's really a problem now with that show is that I've read so many stories that now, all these stories I've read are impacting how I feel about new stories. And I got to sometimes be like, do this as if it was the first episode. But it's a very, very fun, challenging show in that way. Our job is vulnerable in that way. Like, if you look at us when we first started Smosh, all of us, it has been a journey of growth and evolving. And it's vulnerable to have all of that online people to watch and see us grow and change and just like. Yeah. And I've mentioned before, I'm so grateful for it. But it's also scary for me to have such a-- we have such a diverse audience of people. From different places, different-- More than ever. Different backgrounds, different minds, a lot of neurodivergent people watch the shows. And I'm like, oh shit, that's why I'm-- that's why I want to do my best. But I will spend the rest of my life trying to read up and learn things and I will still not know most anything. And that's interesting is you're your own person with your own opinions, your own POV. Sure. You can't be this person for everybody. But that's what makes it interesting. You spark debate, you spark thoughts of like-- Absolutely. Well, I feel this. Oh, wait, why do I feel this? Yeah. For that. I think if people were blindly-- I mean, listen, I have a lot of really positive influence YouTubers that I listen to. And I'm like, I believe whatever you believe, because I know you are. But I think it is what the show like ours. We are taking the stories of all different types of people, too. And yes, it is nice to hear your own opinion on the show, but also that learning yourself of-- I don't apply that opinion to me. No, you're a salt. Like, that's what's so great, too. Yeah, absolutely. This episode of Smoshmoth is sponsored by ZockDock. Summer feels like prime moving time. Come on, game your mind. All right, let's do this. Let's start it off. What's H's build in Diablo 2? Huh? Yeah. No idea. Oh, wow. Wow. Let's say, oh, no. Listen. This man has been trying to get me to play. Dota with him. Diablo with him. And here's the deal. I actually said this. They're just such intense games. I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. He watched the fucking whole Dota, like, a championship situation forever ago. Hualt is Dota. Dota is kind of. I'm. What does this stand for? People who love it are going to be pissed that I say this, but it's probably more in the lines of, like, a League of Legends. I don't know if the stands were in his dawn of the arc. Well, like, what is Diablo? What is Dota? Don of the arc light. But here's the deal. I said to Anthony. Anybody in this room know what Dota is? Defense of the ancients. Ah. Yeah. It's kind of like, you know, one of those overhead types of games. You can play a bunch of units. Defense of the agent. Okay, sorry. He would be so. He'd be so sad. Here's the deal. I am going to play with him, but I was telling Anthony in Montreal. I was like, oh, yeah. During COVID, like, I played Age of Empires with. Yeah. With, uh, with, uh, with H and he was like, what do you talk about? Like, that's. So he was saying that that was like an inspiration for him to start Smosh. He had a, there was a build that made a custom build in Age of Empires, too. That was called, like, small land of mythology or whatever. Yes. Yeah. One of those games where he was called like Smosh, and it was popular in the multiplayer realm. Yeah. And he was like, what? And I was like, I actually loved Age of Empires. Yeah. Like, I, I loved it so much, but I was not very good at, like, attacking. Oh, sure. I was so interested in my people. Of course. You're a peaceful queen. Whereas like, I look up, you are trying to rule your nation. Thank you. I look up and Age has already built like castles around me for battle. Just. Right. And I was like, what the hell? He's like, you're taking way too long feeding. And that's history. And you know what? That probably happened in history. That's history. So it's like, fuck, they built their whole kingdom around us. Yeah. All right. What's his build in Diablo?
Like, yeah, does he play as a paladin? Does he play as a sorcerer? Does he play-- - Wait, I've seen basically everything that he's-- he has multiple characters. - Okay, what's the one you've seen lately? - It's one, yeah. One he has named after our dog, which is very sweet. Sonia. - Sonia, that sounds like a sorceress. - She-- I think that-- - Or the one that he has-- - There's a hot-- - There's a hot-- - There's a hot-- - She's hot, she's a sorceress looking person. There's a guy who's like really badass and he has wings, I think, and pretty sure. Paladin sounds familiar. Listen, I'll get the answer for you and then I'll come back and tell you. I'm a good wife. - On topic of video game still, Courtney, give us the lowdown on your Tomodachi Island and let's all talk about it like it's a drama podcast. - Okay, guys, I love-- I have a lot of Islanders, okay? And I just recently was brave enough to start making some of you. 'Cause first, I was doing a stream on my YouTube channel where I made the first few characters. So it was like the chosen Sarah Christ and Professor Miller. And then I stopped streaming and I was like, I wanna make other things. And so it's literally, I have, right, the latest, I have Ariana Maddox, I have Bad Bunny, I have Chapel Row and I have Sabrina Carpenter, I have Raven and Starfire from Teen Titans, I have Nabila and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy. I have characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then I recently made Arasha, Tommy, Angela in Chance. Tommy and Arasha did not hit it off, they did not like each other from the get. - That's crazy. - No way. 'Cause they love each other in person. - And then Tommy and Angela met in Angela board Tommy. And no, no, Tommy board Angela. Angela started cracking her neck boardly as he spoke to her. - Oh my God. - Oh my God. Oh, I made Bailey, Bailey married Dominic. I made Dominic, my character. Bailey married Dominic. Bailey got married Dominic and then they divorced. - She divorced him, married and divorced in how long? - Fast relationship. - Like they're married for a while. Like they're married for a bit. She was almost a nook was after her. - Church not the roasting on an open fire? - A nook. (laughs) - A nook is on the island. He's now married to Starfire. And Starfire and Bailey are very similar. So clearly he has a tight. - Sarah Christ married to anybody. Sarah Christ is married. - Oh, oh. - She's married. - Courtney has shown me this whole saga. - Who is she married to? - Courtney. - Oh yeah, yeah. - Sarah Christ. - So, of course. (laughs) - Sarah Christ. - I cannot believe you haven't told her this. - God married to the chosen. I have no control over this by the way. - This game just operates on its own. - He wishes. (laughs) - Look. - You guys had a kid. You can have kids on this island. And the kid unfortunately looked a lot like Spencer. So that's what I named him. - Oh. - And now Spencer's walking around, hanging out with Slenderman. Now we can never have a chosen Sarah Christ. Like they team up because all we know is they're not gonna get the crime done. They're just gonna be fucking in some abandoned warehouse. - This is the Tomadachi version of it. - Well, it sounds like the chosen. - And the channel is Spencer. - Hey you guys. - I can't even. - I can't even. - I was wild. - That's crazy. - It is wild. And Professor Miller is married to Chapel Rowan. He's not happy. Unfortunately a lot of people don't like her on my island. People were constantly having issues with her. - Oh, yeah. - Was I like a fan favorite on your island, Sarah Christ? Was she a part time? - She's one of the OGs. - She's an OG. - Bad eye. - I just feel bad. - I feel bad. - Every so glad. - So as they level up, they get more quirks. Like they become very custom like their own personality, the way they walk, the way they stand, things that they say. Like, and a lot of them have like the fashionista quirks so they can change their clothes with all, 'cause you can get them new clothes all the time. I refuse to give Sarah Christ anything that isn't the law. She can't have any other clothes. Could you imagine her in a dress? - She'd be like, "No, no, no, what is this trash?" - She always has to have the red scarf, which in my mind, in my canon, the scarf is red. For Sarah Christ. - Love it. - So that's the island. - Wow. - I am married to Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm not happy about it. - Oh no, not Angel. Angel's not my favorite. - You like Spike. - Yes. - Spike's problematic. I hate Spike. - Spike is so hot. - Spike is on Nightmare. - Six of Buffy and she hates Spike. - It is like, is problematic. - But he's on all the characters are problematic in Buffy. - He's so hot. - He was a lady. - He was a lady. He's left an awrye, I hate it. - It is true. - But I get it. - And defend him. - Angel, I liked him. But you know who I liked more, Riley? - Which is crazy. - Riley. - If you're a fan, he was the military guy. - I liked him because of Marvel. - He's like a, he's so civil war, like Captain America coded. I liked him. I think if people get a fresh perspective on the show now, Spike is problematic as hell. - Oh, Riley. - Angel is just fine. - Okay. - And Riley was lovely. - Spike is more. - Spike is. - Spike is toxic. Number one. (laughing) - It's just wild like they do. - I do picture all your boyfriends in Boston, like when you were a teenager, looking like Spike. - None of them looks like that. They all had like the big wide, you know, jeans, - Jinko jeans. - That were like this. - Oh shit. - They all look more. - They were limbiscuit codes. - They all looked more like Italian looking. - Okay. - If that explains, no, actually I did have someone who kind of looked like Spike with tattoos. - Okay. - Who is the skateboarder? - It's just interesting. I like flawed characters, but there's some characters. Nowadays in TV shows, there's certain things that if a character does it, there's no going back. - They are a bad person in murder. - Murder, beating women. - Oh, beating women, yeah, of course. - Yeah, that's a hard thing. - That's a hard, no. Dispike beat women? - Lots. - Oh, dang. - I forgot about that. - Remember when the popular girl becomes a vampire later? - He's just, he's just a bad bomber, man. Spike, what the hell? - I think you were watching it and you were like, oh my god, and I was like, yeah, she's also a vampire, so I mean, she's strong. (laughing) - She was trying to stop because you knew what was coming, which is them, I don't want to spoil the show for other people, but the couples' change in show. - He is old, like he's a villain. He is never painted like a full hero. He's a villain. - This happens a lot with like old school TV shows or movies, like I have a film club with my friends, and I showed Urban Cowboy. I was like, oh, such a good movie. And then I played it and I was like, everybody is beating women and it's awful. I was like, John Travolta. - No, you know what's more that a lot about his, too, is a lot of vertical dramas go there. It's really weird. It is really weird. - I'm like, oh no. - No, and watching any movie pre-200-- - Hollow Man, don't watch it. - Well, nobody's gonna watch Hollow Man anyways. - What are you talking about? - Don't worry about that. - These old movies that are like, oh, classic. I put it on, I might go, what? - We start in Reddit stories, in a Reddit stories episode that I don't know if it's aired yet or not. We somehow brought up wedding crashers. - And you were just like watching it back. You're like, oh my God. - I watched it back then. I was like, multiple that whole montage of women falling in the bed going like, yay, topless. Because that's how many women these guys had sex with, like during the wedding. And it was a montage to shout the song shout. - Yeah. - And it was just then-- - Every time the word shout happened, another lady flew to bed. - I watched it recently, and I went, did I just black out this whole time? (laughing) Like, the topless, topless. And they're all laying down, like having the best home, like Vince Vaughn, you wish, buddy. - Yeah. - And Owen Wilson, I was like, no. - No, and I like to think about how like, when they shot those of the women, those guys were home. They weren't on part-- - Oh, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson weren't there. - They weren't there. - I was like, I was just like, just like, time for a women jumping on bed day. Also, how hot do you really look when you fall backwards on a bed topless? Come on. (laughing) - It's hard. - You feel like a bed? - No. - You're tense, like knocking you in the head. You're like-- (laughing) - You choke. - You're like, oh my god. - You're like, oh my back. - Yeah, oh man. - I can't even. - It's not a graphic like that in Tommadeuch Island. - No. - No, you don't see any-- - It's sophisticated. - It's sophisticated. - No, they literally, it goes, they have a, like if you're viewing your town, 'cause one of the most fun parts is you can just kinda, put your little cursor on a character, then you'll track them, like follow them like a camera through the town, then like interacting with a vending machine, talking with somebody. If a bunch of them have like a jogging quirk, they all will go on a group jog. It's really cute. But sometimes then a notification of someone wants to talk to you, and then it'll take you into their house, and then they have a baby. And they, and then they'll be like, we wanna name it Geronimo. What do you think? I'll be like, I'm gonna name something else and then go, oh, then I think you must have a better name for our child. - That's awesome. - Wait, what is the name of our child? - It looked a lot like Spencer. - What's the? - Spencer. - Spencer. - Oh my god. - It's fully Spencer. - Oh my god. - Olivia, Olivia, forgot me, Olivia. She's married to Anthony Bourdain. - Classic. - Good for her, our child. - She's gonna be on her own, you know? She's, he's, that's crazy. - I'm so sorry. - I love him. - I love him too, but he's no longer with us. - I have two kids. Oh, I guess in the game he's there. - I have a few people who have passed on in my island. - That's great. - But I am very good at making faces. Look, pretty alike. - You showed me, you were like, okay, guess what? And I was like, that is Tommy. - I'm pretty proud of my Tommy. - Your Tommy, Tomodachi is one to one. - Wait, Tommy plays Tomodachi, right? He was showing me all of his-- - I'm sure his island is so cursed. - He was showing me a lot of his people. - Everyone's island is fucked up. - They look just like the people-- - Yeah. - It's so funny. - It's a crazy game. You know what game? 'Cause like Spencer's got to play Resident Evil with you guys. I think the game-- - Oh, the best. - Like, I wish there, if there was a game like that for me, and I'll throw this out there, is it would be really fun. I don't know if it would get the same views, is the remake of Ocarina of Time is coming out this year. - Oh. - And you would think it's very cool. 'Cause it's Zelda.
- Let's do it! - And it's like the best Zelda ever made. - I, you were explaining Skyrim, and I was actually interested in that. - Skyrim's awesome. - That sounds awesome. - But, but Zelda falls a little bit more of a streamlined story, a little bit more like, it's like Resident Evil, but like super fantasy fun time. But when it comes out, I will probably try to push to see if I could play it on games. - Yes! - 'Cause I'm sure I'll play it with you at home. - Oh, but you guys should play it. You and Angel like, it should be fun. - It's just not as like, I just don't know if it's as exciting as Resident Evil, but. - Resident Evil is a different beast. Like, it's a horror. - Yeah, that's scary. - It's scary, I personally, I would love to play like a fantasy video game. - Okay, we'll see. Anyways, on that note, we're out of time. - Oh, was there any topics that you didn't get to? - Not really. The only other thing that I was gonna say, I was gonna say I had a beef with some comments I've been seeing over the past like years. It's been building up. - That's what you saved. - I saved this for the end. - It's kind of funny. It's not a big deal, but I just wanted to address this is people talk about me being a homeschooled kid and it's getting out of hand, right? Like, people talk about me, like, some comments you'd think that I was homeschooled my entire life. - Yeah. - Mind you, I didn't go to high school. I was homeschooled throughout high school and more of a high school drop out than homeschooled. - That's way hotter than homeschooled. - Exactly. But I'll see some comments with them like, "Oh, Shane didn't know this thing." Well, he was homeschooled. And I'm like, "Uh, I went to elementary and middle school." - Middle school is the trenches. That is the one that matters most. - I was there. - Commenters, I love you guys. - It's not that many comments, by the way. - You don't know us that well. - It's like, thank you people. - It's the majority of our audience, not commenting that, but it's like how those couple comments they get ya. - Oh, yeah. - And for some reason, that's what I'm like, like, I'll pass by a comment and be like, "Shane's not funny." And I'm like, whatever, man. And then I'll come up and be like, "Shane was homeschooled his whole life." And I'm like, "Hey, now." - Hey, that's just not true. - Well, I don't like when commenters and they're very sweet, usually, but when they say facts that they are like, this is a fact. And I'm like, "It's actually not a fact." - Well, I always bring up my favorite is someone be like, "You don't know me that well." - My favorite is someone being like, "I think Amanda's Puerto Rican." - Oh. - That was my favorite comment. - And I was like, "I'll take it." Honestly, I was like, "Hey, that you can keep as a fact." Actually, commenters keep it going. I'll take it. - But anyways, just wanted to set that record straight up. - I love only home school throughout high school. So let's not-- - I'm very glad. - And home school meaning you were also having job experience, working on sets and working with other life. You were home schooled, nothing wrong with that. Shane just wasn't homeschooled his whole life. He was a high school dropout. - Only a little bit. He was a badass high school dropout. - Yeah. - Badass. - Yeah, that's so cool. You can put that in the comments. - Well, I got my GED, so technically. - And you can put like hot, hot Puerto Rican for me. - Okay. - That's much. (laughing) - All right. - I don't know. - All right. Anyways. - Happy birthday, Shane. - Happy birthday. - Take time. - Eat your cake. - Oh, no, thanks. - No, no, no. - Bite it. - What is that, Tres Liches? - Yeah, eat your cake. No, it's berries and crepe. - No, it's your favorite. Cheesecake. - Oh. Okay. - That's not your favorite. - Yeah, I don't mean it. - But thank you both. This was very sweet. - Oh my god, of course. I have to be here. - All right. We love you. I love you guys. Love you. For a second. - Oh. - We're gonna hold. - Room time. - They bring in a horse. It's like, here we go. (barking) - Would you, could you get on a pony? - I'd get on a horse. I am scared getting on horses. It's always a scary experience. 'Cause I'm not very flexible. - Yeah, 'cause they're incredible. - So, like, you're trying to get off and they're like, like, make sure when you get off, you get off swiftly. And like, I'm trying to do it. And they're like, get off in one go. And I'm like, I can't. They're like, it's gonna gallop off and kill you. And I'm like, well. - God. - Oh, I love that. I love horses so much too. - I struggle. - Beautiful creatures. - So beautiful. And my goal is to get H on a horse. - He would look cool on a horse. - I mean, he said he's never been on one. And then I said, you've never been on one, right? And he said, I never said that. - I told a lie. - When you don't know your partner, you know? (laughing) - Shayne, we got something for you. - Whoa. - Yay! - Oh my god. - And there we go. - Oh my gosh. - Shayne, go. - Whoa. - Oh my god. - I'm Central Station. - Oh my god. - Okay. - Graham Central Station, your favorite ice cream? - This is so cool. So this is probably my favorite ice cream flavor at Handles. It's called Graham Central Station. - I never tried it. - It is, I don't know how to describe it. It's a Graham Cracker flavored ice cream. - It's so good. - Oh my god. - What the hell? - Whoa. - And it's got stuff in it. I forget what the stuff is. I need to read the description again. - I think it's. - It's so good. - Cinnamon, apparently it's chocolate-covered honeycomb. - Chocolate-covered honeycomb in it. - Holy shit. - And I believe it's Graham Cracker flavored ice cream. - Oh my god. - It's just amazing. And I'm normally not the type. - This is so sweet. This is like-- - You guys know me. I'm normally the type that like simple flavors. Some about this is perfect. Wow, it really is my birthday. - It really is. - Birthday Shayne. - Thank you everyone. And thank you, Selena. Thank you for for getting me this. This is incredible. Thank you for listening and watching. - Thanks everyone. - Hey, have a good September 14th. - Love you guys. - Okay, play "Earthwinden Fire." We can't play it, but play that in the background right now. - That's his favorite song. - It is actually one of, it's probably a top three song. I could say that's my favorite song of all. - Wow. - It's incredible. All right. - Bye. - Bye.
