#120 Microsoft Copilot vs ChatGPT: ¿Cuál es mejor?

Microsoft Copilot is what would be the equivalent of Gemini, or to ChatGPT if one enters through the web page. Copilot has more things like that. Unlike what we are used to seeing in ChatGPT, where ChatGPT is the interface, and behind there are the GPT models, GPT models. Google is more consistent, because it has Google Gemini, and the models are called Gemini. And in this case, we have Copilot with an interface, but we have ChatGPT behind. Exactly. Is that exactly the same? So we are entering the same room on both sides? Look, let's see. We could say that the base model, the numbers and the configurations behind the most structural models, yes. Everything that involves it, everything that you saw, everything that makes it, there are many differences. Perfect. But this make-up still affects how it is used, right? Yes, the truth is that yes. Well, the truth is that it will depend on several things, because maybe we will talk about it a little later, but the Copilot for people, not the same Copilot for companies, there are certain restrictions that happen, and even for all this make-up that Microsoft puts on its Copilot tool, in general, one, it is not exactly the same model that at this time has ChatGPT available. There are always a couple of versions or one previous version. Because what Microsoft does is take the model that is available to OpenAI, keep it in its servers, and then it starts to place all these adornments so that they work well with all the make-up that they have built. Perfect. So, doing a little the analogy of the rooms, they are all rooms that have the same configuration, they have the same wall, the same place, etc. But they are both rooms that are decorated differently. One has a floor, another has a door, another has a door. They allow us to notice differences between both rooms, but they are essentially built on the same basis. Of course. I mean, at least I am aware that one can go to the website, copilot.microsoft.com and I can also go to applications that I have on Windows. Correct. If I have a computer with Windows, I now have a Mac, so I don't go anywhere. But in the background there is a little icon that says Copilot and I can talk to it right there. So I open an application, but on the back it is the same as we were talking about just now. Exactly. Different doors for that. In that sense, of course, Microsoft provides many doors to enter your room. Yeah. Unlike the OpenAI models that one can enter, either through the chatgbt.com page or through the app. These are the only two entrances. And I have to, or when I can install an application. Of course. Of course. But in Copilot, I generally don't have to install that application because there is a little icon that is updated from Windows. There is a little icon from Copilot there and I press it and when I press it, they are not charging me, right? No, they are not charging you. It is something native inside Windows. The idea is that these are the most natively included in the operating system, even to be able to make modifications there. So there it is in work and sometimes you can change it, for example, the screen background through Copilot, there are times when it rejects you. There are still things that are being developed, but yes, it is already inside Windows, at least Windows 11, the latest version so far. And that part is 100% free. Anyone has it, anyone can take care of it. Okay, so the question of the million is, given that we have all these options to take care of it in different parts of my operating system, etc. Is Microsoft Copilot better than Chat DPD? No, but still, still, it can be very useful in several scenarios. Perfect, like which one? Because it may sound confusing and not better, but it still works. How do we work on this? Look, the truth is that you have to put different scenarios. For people, let's say natural, who are using any tool of work, of artificial intelligence and is using it in a free way. The truth is that there is going to be a lot of difference between Chat DPD and Copilot. We have to go to the extreme in its use to find just some type of relevant difference. Perfect, I remember giving an example recently, they consulted me about the course we do with a lawyer study. And they said, "Look, I use it a lot to summarize email, to translate when I talk to clients who are foreigners. That function does it very well. And what I feel, and you know I'm a little busy explaining it, but it is my interpretation of the facts, is that the user's expectation is a level in which today, any of these tools can be overcome, whether it's Copilot, Chat DPD, or the others, Gemini, Cloud, etc. Therefore, the user is satisfied with that same tool. So, it's never going to have a problem with that type of task. To summarize emails, to write emails in a certain way. Less, less, more, in general, the user is super satisfied with that. But the task is that they are particularly more challenging. In this case, in the case of the legal issue, for example, it is very challenging to be able to make a judgment on whether something should be done or not, because the law is complex and is related to each other, and among other documents. That analysis, hopefully you can delegate it to the best available model for that task. So, there you start to notice a lot, if indeed a model does it better or worse than another, because my expectation is much higher than what models can usually deliver. Exactly, a very simple analogy. So, both of us, as a person who is on a piosk, as anyone on the street, if you use a calculator, if you use Excel, if you use Python, to make a couple of sums, everything will answer you exactly the same. But you can't ask for a linear regression or an advanced statistics or a simple calculator. There we are talking about scenarios a little more complex, obviously. There we are not going to the extreme, let's say, to the edge of the result that they can give us. So, if my day-to-day, when it comes to calculator, simple, answering emails, that kind of thing, zero drama with no problem. Exactly, man. But what happens if you don't? Is that where you say, for example, that ChatGPT is usually better than CopaElu? Of course, because starting with that, well, if you have the paid version of ChatGPT, you can choose the model with which to work. In CopaElu, that doesn't exist. In that sense, Microsoft says, you know what, I'm going to choose for you the best model to solve the problem. But there are times when you don't want to do the test of how a model answers you, how the other one answers you, in extreme cases. And you can't take that decision in CopaElu, in ChatGPTc. And in fact, in Gemini there too, if we continue to talk about the different competences. For example, now I'm in ChatGPT, and up here I have a selector that speaks to me about the Model 4 or 3, etc. We've already talked about other episodes that mean each one of them. When I go to CopaElu, there is none in that position, or in other positions, that allow me to select something similar. Exactly. You said something before, that CopaElu selects the model for you. I mean, it doesn't mean that there is no equivalent of these more intelligent models, like O3 or similar in CopaElu. No, in any case, they are available, but it's Microsoft that decides if it delivers the best model or not. Now it's fine. They are not as evident as they look in ChatGPT. However, there are options, that I think depend on the plan you have, that you can ask for a greater reasoning, that has been hiding the issue of occupying O3 or the one that is available at that time. Well, that's where it comes from. I think CopaElu is a bit annoying, because there are two versions, at least the version that is for companies and the version that is for people. And in the version of people, I've seen this thing that you're telling me, that you're going to talk to him, and you can tell him to think a bit more. It's something that other tools have also done, it's not like CopaElu is the only one who does it. And when you go up this selector, you think a bit more, and you can tell the reasoning models. Exactly. That they are equivalent to O3 or O1, in ChatGPT's suite. But in CopaElu's version, which in theory is where the companies want to pay for these options to work, and more productively, there is no selector. At least not when we're recording. Exactly, no. The selector wasn't there. In fact, one can force the reasoning, but already entering a bit more depth in CopaElu's network, that is already getting into CopaElu Studio, where it has more settings. It's a bit more elevated. It's not that much. It's not super technical at all. You can watch a couple of videos, or read a bit of documentation, and you can understand how it works. There you have those little changes that you can alter. I know that one of the questions that they asked me was, "Why does CopaElu tend to do this?" In the end, "Why does it take away from you the possibility to do it?" And, unfortunately, that person told me, "I imagine that it's to take away my complexity, because in some way, if I go and ask something more complex and the model detects it, I can solve it with one thing, but with another. It's a bit of an aspiration that some of them also said, "Sam Almal, who was from Chatibiri, I hope you never had it, and you have to select a model, but you have to detect it automatically." CopaElu said, "I'm going to do this." So, yes, this is what allows me to have a person who is not so capable of this, because CopaElu, as it is present in all computers, in all the companies that CopaNoffice has people who perhaps represent a good mass of the people who are listening to this podcast, who are people who are used to artificial intelligence, or to try this type of thing, and you have the person who for the first time encouraged to open that button. So, yes, it takes away the complexity of the user. But I tend to be a little bit more thought-out. Maybe God knows where you're going. Chatibiri is burning a lot of money with this thing. Yes. So, because artificial intelligence models are expensive to run, and you say, "Hey, it's going, but they charge me a license." Yes, that's why they compensate a little, but on average, there are no official calculations of this, but it is estimated that in the end a average user of the license for each one, and obviously the licenses of the city too, because it's pure spending, they spend more than what they give to the company. So, if I'm paying $20 a month, on average, I'll be burning about $40, of computer capacity, maybe even more. Especially now that other things are coming out that burn even more. On the other hand, Microsoft doesn't have that device as a company. OpenAI is already in this device of burning money to be able to grow. It's going to be relevant. Exactly. Microsoft doesn't have that device. Microsoft is in a device that is trying to be a profitable product of a company that wants to take advantage of its market domain to be able to continue taking money out of the operation. Therefore, they are a part where they are focused on a growth as more sustainable in time. Correct. And therefore, hopefully, you don't have the freedom to be able to occupy those models that spend more money every time they occupy. Exactly. So, I think it's easy to say that it is to reduce complexity. It sounds like altruistic. I think that maybe there is something of that, I would like to believe, that they are also balancing it with the fact that they want to, hopefully, pass on to you the product that for them also does not cost them so much to run. Because there are times when I have tried to force reasoning with the prompt so that it sounds something complex that needs help and doesn't give it to me. So, I don't think it's just detecting my needs and delivering the product. Yes, of course. Microsoft is still a company and it is already a company relevant at a global level. It has to be efficient with its costs. So, let's think about it for the last time, a winner-win. A win-win for the user and for them. You don't have to worry about the model, they worry about it, but they are going to give you, obviously, the cheapest model that meets what you are asking for. I mean, it's not giving you necessarily a worse quality. And you told me that there were several things that the company could benefit from having Microsoft despite the fact that it's not better. Correct. Being one, maybe the ease of use, there are some other things that we should have in mind? The second point that is very relevant and well, it is also sold by Microsoft, is security. Everything is inside of the controls and of the servers control in the sense of security that no one is going to enter. Well, although there was a news recently that they also entered, but they published it because they solved it. There is greater control of access to your information. Of course, so it is no longer any company that is going to do it, but it is Microsoft with its reputation and with its servers and with its technicians, experts in security, who are going to be storage, storing all your information. So much what you keep in the cloud, as well as in OneDrive or in SharePoint, as well as this interaction with the artificial intelligence tool, with co-piles basically. Everything is inside the Microsoft environment. Of course, and that's where there are several companies that always ask how, "Hey, I can use this because chativity gives me the idea that I can't upload the data that the Ignacio said, that when you don't pay, it's one of the products. And since I'm not technically paying for co-piles, because I, as a person from a company that has an office can open and take care of it there, I have this belief that maybe I'm uploading this confidential information that can be a problem, but I also want to do my work faster, so I have this doubt and in chativity I'm always like, sometimes I edit it, I block it, like they're trying to prevent me, but instead of co-piling, they're trying to say, "Relax." If you trust us today, like Microsoft to upload your electronic mail, they're in the cloud and in the background, they're not in your computer only, but probably when you go to co-pilot and you can do this it's not going to happen. Because I'm in Microsoft and that's my grace. Exactly. Chativity is free. It doesn't even have advertising, so it's totally free for you in the sense that you don't have to pay anything. In your company, when you have a computer and everything is legal, everyone is paying for that office license, and they're paying for that Windows license, that is, for you it's zero, but for the company they're paying anyway. So they can't... Exactly. So breaking that promise of security and backup would be too expensive for Microsoft, and in any case it's not 100% free. Even when you bought a computer and you didn't pay for the Windows, when you bought the computer yourself, that Windows license is already being paid, if you couldn't have it, because it's a private license. Of course, the manufacturer paid for it. Exactly. The HP, the Asus, the Lenovo, and another important point here is that, as you said, these are agreements with the companies, the companies pay the license, and these agreements are quite big, that is, the amount of money that a big company pays, thousands of collaborators, for having an office, it's a contract that is not simple, it's not something trivial, so if you can make the company a little more difficult, because everyone is taking care of themselves and then they don't want to change or lose their conversations, because they are already used to taking care of it, because they did it in capacity, increase the output of the product. Correct. That is, any company, a PIME, a MIPE, any of them who can directly hire an office on the website, but the use of all the Microsoft Suite is so relevant, that the companies that are global have global contracts, they are not even located, I don't know, a Mackenzie, to say anything, probably it's not the office of Chile that has the Microsoft contract, it's the complete, global office of Mackenzie, the Core, with that contract, that's how important it is. Or a SLEE, maybe for people who haven't heard of Mackenzie before, if you haven't heard of it, please. No, please, there is a super employee, but I want to go back to another point of security, in terms of security, people also say that it's safe, but it's not safe, it's not like that. Because ChatGPT, and you said it in a chapter with Ignacio, ChatGPT has this team of ChatGPT, which in the background, I pay a subscription a little more expensive, 25 dollars a month for each member of my team, and then ChatGPT also ensures under its own standards, like, hey, I'm going to save your data, and in fact, when you're taking care of it, it goes down like, hey, ChatGPT doesn't know any of your data, etc. So you reach a similar level, but who are you going to believe more? OpenAI, a company that is today trying to break the rights of intellectual property, trying to burn money, because at all costs, to be able to become the biggest company in this universe, or Microsoft that has Windows for a while, that has SharePoints in the background, what happens is that there are times when I had this conversation that is quite reasonable, I tell them, hey, when you pay, and probably the licenses are quite good at this time, and they say, yes, but it's already Microsoft, everyone trusts Microsoft, I save this application for the rest as well. Exactly. So that's where I also have another point, is it worth, as a company, paying for the subscription of Copilot? Copilot has, we started talking about that Copilot has a paid subscription, it's not like it's always free. And it's a part of it. And that is very complex to understand inside, at the end all the services of Microsoft. If you are hiring Microsoft for your companies, whatever the size is, it is complex to understand it. That is, well, we ourselves, when we were seeing how all this worked, we did the configurations, we did the research, it was difficult to know what Microsoft 365 has or Copilot. Microsoft 365. Microsoft 365 is the new licensing method of the office. It's not more than that. It's like the nice name for Microsoft Office, for the current office. Everyone involved, apart from the office, other things, and that's why it's not the same as the office, but basically it's Office. Exactly, it's Office. And that, precisely the licensing, you can buy an Office 2010 and have access to that office and you have it installed, but that won't give you access to Copilot necessarily, because that is a license, Perpetua quotes, Office 365, Microsoft 365, is an annual payment license. And that does give you access to a certain level of Copilot. But if you want the full Copilot, you have to pay another license, which is also worth $30 per user. And there you can hire it for some user, for all users, and there the decision is who will use it in the end. Really, in a deep way, Copilot and who will use it simply to summarize the mail. Before we do that, if it's worth paying it or not, the important point is that you said well, if I, as a company, for example, I have a company that has more than 1,000 employees, and I don't want to pay $30 per 1,000 employee, imagine the madness of money that I have to pay in a month, because in addition, many licenses are paid and then people take care of them. You can actually buy a part of the license people, you can buy licenses for a part of your plan. And also, there is a way to unlock and unlock those licenses. So, you can unlock the SAP license so that someone can enter. You can unlock the Copilot license so that you have all this... So, if I am a company, is it worth paying for these 30 monthly dollars of Copilot? Yes. It's worth paying for it. But not all of them. Naturally, according to what we were talking about just now. But you said before, radically, that this activity was better than Copilot and now it's worth paying. How do we reconcile this kind of things? Because, as I told you, all this additional decoration that Copilot has is what gives it the competitive advantage in the business field. For the entire company? It depends. It depends. Because... We already talked about security and that is to cross for everyone. So, there is an additional advantage Microsoft for being Microsoft. Of course. The other thing is that when you pay the 30 dollars for this Copilot of this additional license to Microsoft 365, you have to keep that in mind. It gives you access to several things inside Copilot. Among them, access to your files, emails, etc. etc. that you have in OneDrive, that you have in SharePoint, that you have in Teams, that you have in Aulu. Therefore, it greatly amplifies the knowledge base without having to configure anything additional. Which you cannot do in ChatGPT. Every time you want to analyze something in ChatGPT, you have to upload it. By hand and everything. There are also certain restrictions that I would like to touch on that are inherent to this ecosystem of Copilot. For example, one that I have seen when I upload an image of a person. For example, I am going to use a selfie. Microsoft does certain things to protect that image from direct users. Because they don't want to mess with that image. Because this is like a corporate environment. They assume that everything has to be very safe and very correct. OpenAI is in another stage where this doesn't matter at the cost of growth. Microsoft doesn't. It will moderate what it has to moderate. When you send your picture with a selfie, it's super innocent. I am talking nonsense. Well, when we open the Patreon one day, and there, maybe, no kidding. So, I upload the selfie and I tell it to process it. And at that moment there is a pre-processing of that image that I have seen that doesn't always happen. But it makes it blur. It removes a little the face of the person and that's where the model is sent. So, I want to give you good results. Because you can upload an image and tell it to see the style of the Simpsons. And it really looks like a Simpsons with the whole face blurred. Because it never took the original picture. It took this picture blurred in three and a half. It's also seen in tablets that make it a little more harmful to be used. So, from the information that came in a picture, in a tablet, then it's difficult. That's right. So, it puts these complications but again, it's not because it complicates your life. It's because they really want to erase information from the tablet. It's because they want all the interactions with Microsoft to be safe for the working environment. Exactly. When you send a prompt with this, paying $30 and all of that, that prompt goes to what is called Microsoft Graph. Okay? Imagine that it's just a database with all the information that the company has available in Teams, in Outlook, in Excel, in SharePoint, all the storage. Before, when it goes there, it starts looking for information and the security, we talk about security in general, like external information doesn't enter inside the company, but inside the company there is also governance of the information. So, if you have access to a certain file, that will be used to answer you if you don't have access to it. And there is also a pre-processing of the prompt. Exactly this blur of the images or if you say something offensive, and after that processing in the Graph, with all the restrictions of the company that you put in it, or all the security of the company that you put in it, it just travels to the LLM model, to the language model. Then it returns to the Graph to finish looking for some things and make a certain processing also to the response. And finally it returns to the user. That is, that complete lap can go through many things for security issues, and you could also feel that it responds a little slower. Yes, and it's less precise that's why you have to recognize it. All that work could take perfectly 3 months, 6 months, where there will be in any way a difference in technology to say it in some way between the model that uses ChargeGPT now with Copilot at this same moment. I remember at the time that there was a feature that I liked a lot that was the Data Analyst that I love in ChargeGPT and that now it is available to Copilot but it took many weeks for it to be available to Copilot. Why?
