Shall we pop our confetti? The crowd goes wild. Ready? Where am I aiming? Uh, not at us. Wait, hold on. To shoot, rotate base in directions of arrows. Oh my god. Just arrows pointing this way, turn it that way. That's it, but you have to do it that way? Okay, okay, okay, okay. Three, two, one. Oh. It's taped. Oh, what the hell? I, that, wow. Mine went off. Why isn't this working? Oh, shit. Woo! Yeah. I don't know. I mean, yeah, that's. You know what? Confetti is always underwhelming. This is it. It's always fucking underwhelming. I can't even. Just pop the top off and then sprinkle, like I just said. Woo! Yeah. It's always fucking underwhelming, confetti. If it doesn't work out. Yeah, I mean, look at the inside of that. There's no way that thing was working. No, these are broken, guys. You guys got us bullshit confetti. Just kidding. Thank you guys for setting this up. It's awesome. You got a nice cake? It is. A beautiful cake, champagne. Oh, wait, should we pop some champagne? Balloons? Come on, we gotta. Let's have a drink. Someone's really trying to drink in the middle of the afternoon. Let's have a drink. He is, he is. And listen. It's 1,000. You're right. You're absolutely correct. I personally don't want. Like, that's nice stuff. And when I have one sip, then I'm like, oh, it's a waste. No, no, because we're gonna finish it. We're gonna drink it. The whole bottle? All of us? Come on, pop it open. Come on, okay. You know what? All right, we're popping champagne. Popping champagne. I'm covering my eyes. I have a very big fear of getting a cork to the eye. So I never pop champagne. I always let somebody else do the honors. Yeah, which means it's always me. Yeah, so don't aim it in this direction. Or really anywhere. I was actually planning to shoot it right at you. The way you're opening it, though, you know, is kind of. All right, you just have to twist the lid. The lid's not coming off. Don't worry. Three, two, one. Woo! Woo-hoo! Happy 1,000, everybody. Let's get some glasses going. Noah, what would you do the honors? Come here. Come on. Bartender! Bartender, come here. Here, I'll pour yours all the way to the tippy top. You guys want me to, like, do a speech or something? Sure. Okay. Should we all go around and make one? No. I don't know if we all need to, but how about just a toast? Okay. I'll do a little toast. I'll keep it short and sweet. Yep. All right. Are we ready? I'm ready. All right. Here's a toast to our 1,000th episode. I just want to say thank you to all of you who have been on the journey with us, our listeners who are listening to this right now. First and foremost, you guys have been along this journey. Maybe it's from the first episode when we were on SiriusXM to now the 1,000th episode. For all the people that joined along the way, whether it was last week, a couple years ago, we appreciate you more than anything. And then to this team. We would not be Chicks in the Office without each of us on this team. The amount of stories, memories, journeys we've been on, all the highs, not a lot of lows. This podcast has only gone up and up. And I can't wait to see what we do in the future. It only gets better and better, and it truly is a joy working with all of you. Everyone has a very special, unique thing about them in this group, and that's what makes us work. So congratulations to everybody on the team. I love you all so much. And here's to 1,000 more. L'chaim. Yes. Mazel tov. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Clink. Clink. You know what would be great right now? If we just had something to watch. Oh. Do they have something? I was just saying we could watch some YouTube videos. I love watching YouTube videos. No, no. Yeah, there is a little video. A big video, actually. It's a big video? It's a big video. Oh, my God. Get comfortable. Okay. I'm glad I poured the champagne. Hey, guys. We're going to take a quick break, and we will be right back. Football is back. Listen, I said I wasn't going to drink this week, and here I am again because let me tell you, this summer we are celebrating. I got no problem with it, but this summer has been drink after drink, and I can't get enough. I'm loving it. Listen, what's a little champagne going to do? Nothing. We're just going to have some fun, and then. You pee it out. Fuck yeah. All right. Okay. That's one way to think about it. No, it's like. Pee out everything you drink. I was just going to give myself a week break, but now I hear back again. I'm like, what's this freaking video going to be? Will it beat 500? Yeah, it's a better video. Okay. It's 16 minutes long? All right. No, I'm. 1,000 episodes into 16 minutes. Yeah, no. Oh, my God. Yeah, seriously. Oh, my God. Am I going to cry? I can't do that. We're crying for sure. I can't do that. I feel it coming on already. Oh, wow. I'm envisioning 16 minutes of Dave telling us how proud he is. I literally was thinking the same thing. That's so fucking funny. Oh, my God. Tea by the seat. Yeah, we should text him that today. By the way, boss, 1,000 episodes today. I know Madison Beer and Justin Herbert just got engaged, but. Okay, you ready? We're ready. I think our best bet is to just start it from the beginning. Yeah. Oh, my God. I'll start it like this. Hey, guys, we have some news for you. We're bringing you a Chicks in the Office podcast featuring the best segments from our radio show. Let's restart. Let's restart. I had no voice in the beginning. You're like, hey, friend, you hear our big news? Hey, guys, we have some big news for you, friend. No. Okay, redo it. We're going to nail it this time. Big news. What's up, everyone? It's Chicks in the Office with Ria and Fran. We've had a lot of really great moments for Chicks in the Office. I'm a chick in the office. Yes, you are. Welcome. Congratulations, Ria and Fran, on your 1,000th episode of. Chicks in the Office. Hey, ladies. Hey, Chicks. What? Over at the bar, we have two more Bravo fans, Ria and Fran from Barstool. You guys are low-key like the Barbara Walters of our generation. I'm not kidding. This was really good. Hashtag Chicks in the Office. Dear Sam. Dear Sam. Ronnie motorboated to. Finally, you made it to the 100th episode. And here they are, the goddamn Jonas Brothers. They're here. Cheers. Thank you. Thank you guys so much. The world's most refreshing podcast. Give it up for the Jonas Brothers. There's so many episodes we've done since then. 105. 800. 800 episodes. We're on, like, episode 800. Make some noise. Yeah. I'm counting. I know your fans go out and, like, they do. They do. I've seen your crowd. They couldn't send in a video? Hi, Ria and Fran. Hi, Ria. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. 1,000 episodes. Love you guys so, so much. You're an inspiration. And keep on going to 1,000 more. 1,000 more and 10,000 more. We love you so much. Love you. Bye. We are here with a very sketchy guest. I'm nervous, but this is sick. I've never done a podcast. This is so sick. I'm excited. It's one of the first. I specifically requested this interview. Wow. Because, you know, we're very serious. Yeah. Look right into that camera. Very serious. Today, Ticketmaster says, we're not putting out general sale. What? They're not doing the sale. No tickets for you. They're just not putting them on sale. You guys hate each other. If you're going to tell me in that entire 20-minute period, at one point, you're not going to have an awkward face, then you're better than I am, and I'm cool with that. I'm sorry. For starters, who said I have temper tantrums? Not us. Who said that? Not us. Is this only in this room? It wasn't us. Because I'll duck you. No, shit gets real on this podcast. I'm so proud of you guys. Oh my God, love you. A thousand episodes. I mean, what a milestone. And you bitches doing it, looking hot like that. Like, what the hell? I wouldn't expect anything else than him getting his makeup done. If you're walking out of your car into a locker room, and you're carrying a Birkin that looks a little stiff and a little fake, I'm going to call your ass out. You two walked in here with matching Birkins. Yours looks like you use yours, you know? Oh, I really use mine. Mine's just been to the spot, to be fair. Okay, okay, fair, fair. Hi, guys. Oh, my God. We've had your 1,000th episode. Wait, you've been working on this since then? Mumble talk, congratulations. Yay! Like, there's a green room. Not to put our producer on the spot, but it's his favorite movie of all time. Not to be weird, but I have, like, a giant poster of your face on it. The oldest, most famous movie poster in his apartment. That's so great. That's an awkward laugh. People still come up to you and call you Penny Lane all the time. Oh, yeah. As a matter of fact, I did a podcast yesterday, and the producer, that's the only poster he has in his house is my face. That's a little weird. I know I'm putting you on the spot. Sorry, this is not, I'm not supposed to be interviewing y'all, but. Oh, my God. Did you guys see Cattle Lake? No. Yeah, you missed that one? We could have lied. We could have. We could, I thought about lying. No, I know. We could have lied about it. We paused for a second. I guess that one didn't make the rounds. Pete Davidson is also in this movie. I love it. Oh, my God. Just FaceTime Pete about 10 minutes ago. Wow. Why would you tell us that? I'm sweating right now. You're sweating? I'm sweating. I'm sweating. I'm sweating. I'm sweating. And Glenn was one of our first guests in those early radio days. You guys are kicking ass. That's how I showed up to interview Glenn. Hey, Rhea, Fran. Glenn! Congrats on 1,000 episodes. Here's to 1,000 more. So you were deep into this past season of Love Island. Oh, yeah. And how did that feel for you guys? You, like, broke the news that everyone in America wanted to be the one to break the news. We are reporting to you live from Fiji. Oh, I saw your TikToks where you were, like, on it. Talking about it and being, like, we want to come to Fiji. We are here with the queen of Love Island USA, Leah. The queen of Love Island USA. We're breaking a lot of news to you, honey. Yeah. I have something very exciting for you. We posted a video, and Cheez-It commented on our video. And they said, Cheez-It said, say hi to Cordell for me. Oh, my God. You have some of the most flawless skin I've ever seen. Shut up. We got to know what the. We got to know what the routine is. What's the skincare routine? At one point on the show, I thought you had foundation on. Oh, my God. A legend needs no introduction. We're just talking about my fire ass face. Happy ending. Love that song. I love. It's full circle because I wrote that with my husband. Hey, Rhea and Fran. Happy 1,000th episode. Y'all are amazing. Miss you and love you so much. We officially reached over 150,000 subscribers on YouTube. When that happens. When that happened, we would bleach Noah's hair. That's what happens on this podcast. I feel like I have the most bad fucking mind. Look at my face right now. We are at the finale of The Bachelor. That kills me. And from behind the scenes, we're in the crowd. Let's get into The Bachelorette recap. The best. Trent better be in this motherfucking video. If there's nobody else in the crowd, I'm going to be fucking pissed. Our very own Trent. Rhea and Fran, congratulations on 1,000th episode. 1,000 episodes of Chicks in the Office. You guys should be incredibly proud of what you built. 1,000 episodes is an amazing accomplishment. So, yeah, I'm really proud of you guys. I love you guys. Here's to 1,000 more episodes. And shout out to Noah, too. He does a pretty good job. He just got dead quiet. The second we jumped out, it was like that went out. I didn't think about anything. I was just like, what the fuck? It really is crazy. This is crazy. Please reveal. We did it. Matching. We did it. This is a big one. You've been on our list. We've been on our list for a while as guests that we want on our show. On your list? Yes. Is that like Noah's list? Yeah. Gabby Wendy's going to Tampa. You can say that. What? Huge, huge. Big moment. Hey, Diego, what's the sitch? I'm having an out of that experience. Where the hell you been, loca? Happy birthday to you. Rhea and Fran, congratulations on a thousand episodes. You're both only like 10 years old combined, so I don't know how you guys have shot a thousand episodes. I mean, that's like child labor. Congratulations. Here's to a thousand more episodes. So true. And I love you, Mina. My son thought I died. He was like, well, it feels like it. Yeah, we saw this story. Yes. He was absolutely thrilled when I was eliminated. Listen, he was texting Andy 21523 10 times from multiple devices. Hi, Rhea and Fran. Congratulations on. 1,000 episodes. You guys just can't shut up. We love you guys. If you add your year. Oh, my God. And how old you are, it comes out to 2023. Today. What? What? I saw this online today. Are you joking, though? Of course, the year you were born and the age that you are, you add those together, you get the current year that we're in. I don't feel good right now. But also, I feel like we're kind of missing a lot of shit. I just keep wanting to hit this thing. Sorry. Whoa. Shake it easy. Sorry, Lois. Yeah. I don't know my own strength. Like, really professional here. You've got to go barefoot. People are paying for this. Here you go. Ending on an amazing shot. Congrats, Rhea and Fran. 1,000 episodes of Chicks in the Office is incredible. I don't know what's happening to my hair. I think I'm about to get electrocuted. What an electric show you've got. Keep it rolling. Many, many more. Thanks for including us. So sweet. Yes, exactly. Look at us now. Third album. We're still doing podcasts. But we've done over 300 episodes. 500, 600 almost now. Congrats. Yeah, that's a lot of episodes. That's amazing. I'm so happy to be here. I'm huge fans of you guys. So this is why I was really honored to be asked to say that. You just have to say that. Jenna, you don't have to lie to us. I can't listen. I think you're both my paisans. Yeah, yeah. I love both of you so much, and I can't wait. Like, I'm on this couch. Wow. Thank you. Thank you so much for joining us. Thanks for that intro. Of course. To hit all the bits. I'm very excited to be here. What's up, Rhea? Oh, my God. Congratulations on 1,000 episodes. God damn, that's a lot of talking. We love you guys. Thank you for always supporting us, and we wish you the very best. And 1,000 more episodes. Yes. Oh, shut the fuck up. Yes. We are recording live from the Dancing with the Stars rehearsal studio. We're so excited. Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam. On a kick and flick. Do you guys have a message? A message to the haters out there. A message to the haters. I think what you really want to say to me is, who the hell do you think you are? No, no. Am I right? Not at all. Rhea, Fran, 1,000 episodes? Are you kidding me? Congratulations, ladies. Or as us Jews like to say, mazel tov. Not only are you the most talented duo, you are also the kindest ladies I have ever met. And I will never forget how kind you were to me and Christy. We were just starting out with our podcast. So, cheers to 1,000 more. I'll be honest with you. We had a shirt go viral with your face on it. Legally? Legally. Maybe. Yes. Next question. I like that Josh's intro is Josh Peck and mine is Ben Sober, a.k.a. Boy With No Job, a.k.a. You Should Google Him Because Nobody Knows Who He Is, but Josh Peck is a famous actor. That's not true, damn it. No, that's not true. You are on the rise. Congratulations, 1,000 episodes. It's amazing. Oh, thanks, Josh. Jordan, your producer, told me I was one of your favorite guests and she wanted me to record this. I find that hard to believe. I think Jordan's a liar. Anyway, guys, you're the best. Congratulations. Much success. Well deserved. Bye. Is this about to be Tyler? Yes! I want to watch you guys work. Welcome back to the show, Tyler. Thank you. Is it even special anymore after how many times I've been saying it? I don't know. That's it. I throw that before everybody. We did kind of say that, too. We were like, Tyler's on for like the 12th time. Bria. Fran. Sorry. It's okay. It's fine. It's fine. It's okay. It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. I'm tired. I'm tired. Rest in peace. - That was so incredible. - Wow. - Oh my god. Well, first of all, thank you guys so much for making that video. - Well, first of all, shout out to Chris Heine. He was the same guy who edited the 500 video. So I was like, he's the only guy for the job. So he, again, took like 30 of my hard drives and has just been sending me cuts in the middle of the night. So shout to him, because he spent how many hours? I don't know, on this video. - I mean, he put in so much effort. - Javon and Jordan for reaching out to all these people. - So nice. - That was incredible. Thank you so much. That really made me emotional. - Yeah, I don't know. I don't know why-- there were some amazing people in there, but when you popped up in your wedding dress, I just sort of saw it. And I was like, oh. I kind of held it in until then, and then I was like, what? - Well, no, because we fully have grown up on this show. And it's crazy seeing us in those beginning days to that moment, specifically. We were just so little. - I really don't want to cry right now. - And like Heather McMahon said, we're only a combined 10 years old. - That's true. When I-- - I'm just a baby. - We're really so young still, and we've been doing this for so long. - Hey, guys. It's Fran from "Chicks in the Office." The weather is getting cooler, and Abercrombie's fall drop has everything I need for the season. The best-selling A&F Sloan-Taylor pant is a closet staple for me. I'm always wearing it to work events, happy hour, any time I want to be a bit more dressed up. And the viral Dylan dress is easy, one-and-done perfection. But my fall uniform will always be denim paired with a Henley sweater, a bra-free top. It's comfortable, effortless. It just never fails. Find your fall capsule at Abercrombie. Shop in the app online and in stores. All right, now back to the show. - No, I mean, listen, we're going to get sappy at some point. It's a thousand episodes. But at the same time, there's so many funny moments. I think the reason we got so emotional at that part of both of us getting married is we have accomplished so much, and we've just grown up so much, and we've seen each other through every single aspect of life, basically. Our entire 20s were this show, and now it's so insane. And we've had so many-- like, damn, we've done some really fucking cool stuff. We are a very successful show. You know, personally, the cut from 100 episodes, with Jonas Brothers, to hosting Jonas Con, I was like, fuck yeah. Yeah, fuck yeah. I mean, here's the thing, though. They couldn't do it. They couldn't do one for you. And hey, they were-- I'm sure we asked. Believe me, I'm sure we asked. The thing is, I'm sure-- And by the way, I'm not going to stop. I'm going to appreciate everybody else. I'm going to appreciate all the amazing people that we have, and not the ones that we didn't. But we will remember who did it. We will remember who did it. And we will remember who did, and the ones that did. Seriously, thank you so much for taking the time. No, that's so sweet. The Howie Mandel one just, like, is just, in my mind-- In my mind, it's just a running, like-- It's a running bit. It's a running bit of, like, you met him one time in 2019 or 2018, and if it happens five years from now, I'll ask him again. Yes. No, it's so good. I mean, starting off-- But he just does, like, the best ones. First of all, starting off with Andy Cohen in the clubhouse, like, are you fucking kidding me? That was so sick. I was confused for a second. I was like, wait, what? No, that was so sick. I can't get over that. That was so cool. Drew Barrymore. Glenn. Glenn. Oh, god. Craig. You know, he just keeps reminding us how great he is. He is. And one day we'll be able to talk about him more, but-- Overliable. He's amazing. Truly, everybody. That was so sweet. I think maybe because Austin and Craig were right after the-- Yeah, yeah, they were, like, in between our running montage. No, no, I'll show you, like, the raw Craig video, but I was watching it, and I'm like, it sounds like he's, like, on the verge of crying himself. No. Hey, you know what? We all mean a lot to each other. We do. And I think it's very special. And, like, I love everyone from these big stars that we've had on that are so generous and thoughtful with their time. Drew. Demi to do that, too. It's just, like, so incredible. And also, like, our peers, our friends, our fellow podcasters that also, like, we have so much respect for them. And feeling the love back is so-- I couldn't love Beck and Tanya more. Like, they are the sweetest. All of our wonderful Bachelor Nation family that we have made. Serena and Joe. I mean, everybody, everybody. Val and Jenna, we're going to see them this weekend. Just the whole thing is so-- it's so incredible. Thank you, Dave, saying he's proud of us. Yeah, thanks, Dad. You know, it doesn't come often, but when it does, it's meaningful. No, no, it does. You hold on tight. You hold on tight. Yeah, you just hold on. Yeah. Boss and Rob, Tyler and Tate, just everybody. Just amazing. It really is. I love it. I love it. That was incredible. I don't even want to talk about anything else. I really think that we were probably one of the earliest, like, podcasts that Jake Shane has done. We were. And I think it was-- No, I remember-- If not his first-- We were saying that, like, I think it's still titled, unless we changed it. like we didn't even write his name on the episode we wrote yeah yeah that's hilarious but also i remember seeing jake shane at the um lemons foundation party that the lotners the you know party that they had in la and he told me you know i'm very nervous i'm starting a podcast like i'm launching a podcast it's called therapist i don't know how and i'm like oh you're gonna crush it and look at him like it's just crazy he has it's just crazy to look at everything and wow i mean gosh though i've been through some looks i mean we didn't have i mean we really we all have we not many clips of my black hair with blonde stripes but man there was a time there was a time and you know what i kind of forgot what chris briney wore when he came on this show i'm really like i'm i'm like remembering that again yeah like when he popped up i went whoa yeah kind of forgot about that outfit yeah it was something it's just so funny looking at everything like we were literally babies like yeah yeah my hair was falling out of my head at one point like not good not good at all you know i've been through some times bleaching your hair so much yeah and also just was you know miserable um but now well but just a lot of different factors yeah so many different like behind the scenes stories too that are so funny and we were actually talking about before this episode i was like should we try to think of some stories that we've never told on the podcast but it's so hard to kind of go back in your brain and be like this story we should tell or that story we should tell every year i think about and i know like you had them and you lost them but every year i'm like god i really should be journaling because my memory is so bad it's so annoying and then i'm like and I and and I have to watch things to be reminded of things I'm like oh my god yeah but I need to like I wish I wrote everything down like how I was feeling in that time I guess there's no time like the present to start right exactly I had a journal when I first started Barstool and oh my gosh the stories in there were probably even before we started the podcast and then I kept it for a while and then when we moved offices we moved offices in 2019 I lost the journal I then started a new journal in 2023 that I still have yeah and I wrote some feelings down about some things which are so funny looking back I'm like I wrote about some guests like oh you're thirsty yeah just go ahead take the rest I wrote about some guests in the journal like yeah I was nervous for this guest to come on today and rightfully so because they sucked like that's like something I wrote in my journal in 2023 and it's like not that long ago not long ago at all like it's literally like uh yeah I was nervous and you know what I had every reason to be because they weren't great so but I honestly stopped shortly after that but we have so many yeah what a fun video for a second I really got I was like oh my gosh James Marsden about to pop up I thought so too I really thought James Marsden was about to pop up and I you know I'm not gonna harp on the Jonas Brothers but whatever um yeah not even couldn't even get Kevin the thing that hurt with the Jonas Brothers most if we're just talking about it is that it was a look at how much he left them nothing oh thanks Noah for leaving Sarah we got two bottles we got another bottle don't worry uh no but that the Jonas Brothers like for a while it was like they're sending it like it was like a yes and then it was just oh I see I didn't need I didn't need to know that you know I would have busy like I wouldn't I'm okay with knowing that I prefer that like you know yeah but what's worse it's like oh they said yes and they just never got around to it or like nah you know they have been on vacation for quite some time so yeah but it's like okay one of those times they they sat down to record hey Jonas they've been recording a lot lately it doesn't matter we had something amazing you know how you guys can make it up to us a little shout out in the pod yeah hey Jonas you can say hey you know what tricks in the office you celebrate their 1000th episode proud of them proud of them and then I'll be good yeah but it doesn't matter because no no no the whole video everyone who didn't make the video is going to be like I'm not that was incredible that was amazing truly and I'm going to say it again thank you so much to everybody that sent one in yeah because you you like we we're on the other side of that sometimes too when someone's like hey can you send this video and you do forget you do yeah so and it's no like it's not anything on the person it's just sometimes you do forget so it means extra to us to see the people who did take the time to do it yes you know it really really does it's very meaningful and once again thank you to our listeners who are the reason we were able to do it you don't listen to the show then the show ends and that is not the case we're going to keep going yeah like everyone said a thousand more thanks to everyone that's listened to three episodes 100 episodes 500 episodes the ones that have listened to a thousand with every single episode yeah we love you and also after I said special guests I thought Josh Jamal was popping up for sure and honestly I'm a little I really would have turned red and that would have been awesome that would have been imagine he was like congrats on this very special number I would have been out of the room I would have literally scurried out of here uh but so 1000 episodes is so special it's so special to me I can't oh god too many good times but even off like not even with the guest or the show itself we've had so many funny stories like off camera that we just haven't told but not even really purposely it's just like you're like I will tell a story another time and then you just never really got to it and then it's like all right should we tell this random story there are stories we've told at live shows that we haven't told on the podcast yeah um so buy tickets yeah so buy tickets to the live show I don't know what you're gonna hear yeah you really know something we really do tell some secret stories at that show which is always funny um like some Singapore stuff but you know if you were at the live show you saw yeah it's an elite group it is why you can come join us this fall imagine we're like and there's our we literally are the Jonas Brothers and here's our next tour announcement yeah and we're releasing a book yeah yeah yeah here's the thing we would write a spectacular book we were actually to include stories yeah that people don't know oh man yeah oh man I'd write a bestseller I fucking would oh my god sometimes I dream about it I literally toss and turn and dream about telling stories that people get to that point I could maybe where I just tell stories that I fucking wish people knew they and they don't and then I just expose every no that's not that's not it but sometimes I do think wow if only people knew this story if only people knew that story I'd be good in a book yeah uh but you know we're not like that well what are your favorite three moments from the show from the show as a whole yeah just as a whole god I can't that's so hard I can't remember I but not as much like I would say Fiji's like in my top three but that that's obviously right but I feel like there are obvious ones right like Fiji and Jonas Con and you know the humongous guests that we've had it's so hard to yeah yeah differentiate people's choice some of my favorite moments are the ones of us pre and post show you know yeah you guys think you know the show age video the age video never gets old yeah Kate Hudson this Kate Hudson always gets old I'm trying to think I it's hard to pinpoint three Drew Barrymore is cool and I will also say even more just not even like guests around it you know I will also say each year I say to myself how will we top the last year I do this every single year I get nervous for the year and then it somehow tops the year before I and it's amazing and I hope that we continue on that path because I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know that's the only thing you could wish and hope for when you are doing this job is to always be better than the year prior but like we ended the year on an amazing note we come back the first thing we do or one of the first things we do is Dylan O'Brien and Rachel McAdams like and then I go oh my god this is going to be a great year yeah and yeah you know what I mean it's just those moments where you never know what you're going to get and you get worried like oh no what if people don't want to come on our show anymore and look at all these other people who are going to come on our show amazing shows that people do that are you know blasting off and becoming huge but every year it only gets better in my opinion so I'm happy to keep on that path we love our beautiful community that we have we do we really do we have the best always when we meet you guys we're always like we have the best listeners always so supportive hey guys we're going to take a quick break and we will see you guys next time on the best in class standard torque the most functional bed and the advanced tech that's football guy approved check out offers on the 2026 silverado at chevy.com all right now back to the show and you guys have been amazing I'm talking to you three yeah the team sarah maddie we love you guys you guys are amazing the best we couldn't do everything that we do without you guys and all of your hard work and even noah no I mean listen noah really no no shit together no this show is literally nothing without noah yes he has been here from the beginning he's worked his ass off he has been available 24 7 24 7 and has always it like I said for his dating profile dare I say very reliable extremely reliable he's always been available he's been always been there always willing to get shit done always willing to work late always willing to make sure he's putting out the best possible product he can and the show's only excelled because of how much work he puts into absolutely thanks guys and I mean that yeah wow as you should you guys have been pretty good too thank you I appreciate it I mean for those who don't know noah was the first we've been together since the beginning yeah me friend noah those videos of us like sitting in the merch closet like noah was behind the camera yeah he was the one filming and editing and um he is a perfectionist in the best way he is the best of the best he's the best producer in this place by far and I don't care if anybody else gets mad at me for saying that there is nobody at barstool that is a producer like noah everyone's fantastic but he is the best of the best and we're happy that we have a creme yes and our whole team is and I would put our team up against anybody and say we have the best team in the business because the amount of times we've been to meetings and they got to show people the ropes yeah or outside people are so shocked like I've done other podcasts where they're like your team is just a monster absolutely like how do you turn you get your episodes out so quick you do things so quickly you're so on top of your social I'm like I'm like literally there's maddie runs our like there's one person like it is there and everyone is always so impressed and like in shock of how they do that so I think it's always nice to hear and you all work so well together as well like yeah you know that's why I'm excited for this trip we're going on tomorrow because weekend with palm springs what's funny is Fran is arriving a little bit later than the rest of the team. Well, not to completely change the subject, but I got dumped by my dog walker. Yeah, it's bullshit. So I'm not quite sure what to do about it. Summer's tough. I haven't been in the city that much. That's fair. Olive's been out on Long Island, and my schedule hasn't been very consistent. And I understand you need consistency, dog walker. But there's been a couple weeks of non-communication. Normally, they would check in and be like, what's your schedule like this week? And we would give it to them, the whole thing. It's been a couple weeks, we haven't heard anything. And I said, oh, you know, text them a few days ago. Traveling, we're back in the city. I know we haven't been around for a while. And it's just like, all booked up, sorry. I said, damn, I've been dumped. And it sucks because they were so great and so reliable, and I trusted them. That's so frustrating. It's your dog that you love so much, and you want them to be with someone you trust. And they're also in your home, in and out of your home. And now I've got to like. I've got a stranger. I've got to fucking start from. Square one again. Yeah, that sucks. Well, we feel bad for you. But that is what led me to move my. That led me to move my flight back a little bit. Fran's going to get to the Airbnb, and we're going to be on another planet. Project X is going to be happening. Yeah, yeah. Well, I'm cooking dinner for the team Wednesday night, and Fran was like, save me some. I said, obviously, if no one doesn't fucking eat at all. Remember when you. Oink, oink. Remember when you tricked me at the Jersey Shore and said you ate all the pasta salad? And I said, wow, gay. Ooh, that pasta salad was good. All right, maybe I'll make it this week. I don't know. But we will be there, and we're going to have so much fun. Yep. I, yesterday, I have to talk about this very quickly. My license expired on Sunday, my birthday, and I haven't gone around to legally changing my last name yet. Yeah. Because I realized, like, our travel is pretty much booked until the end of the year with, like, shows and work travel that we have. And I'm like, okay, well, now I can't change. Right, well, there's no way to, like, change the name, is there? Is, like, those flights that are already booked, would you have. Do you just have to cancel them and rebook them? To me, it seems just like a whole process to like what it is. But you're never going to not have a trip booked when you go to change it. I know, it's very hard. So that's why I'm like, oh, my God, I have to do this, but it's, like, just taking me a while. Yeah. But it's fine. Like, no, like, now what, like, it's fine. I don't think anyone's like, shh, give me your fucking driver's license to see that, see your last name. Well, because now you have to get a new passport, too, and, like. Yeah, like, I have to change everything. I literally have to change everything, and I haven't done it. But that's fine, because personally, I go by my husband's last name professionally. Yeah. I go by. But I do plan on changing it legally, but I just haven't done it yet. But besides the point, I was like, okay, I'll just renew my license online, and then when I actually change my last name, I'm like, I'll go through the whole process. But I don't want to go to the DM base, so I'll just renew it online for now. But I needed a vision test, and. Really? Yeah, because it's. I don't know, I just needed a vision test to, like, renew it online. A certain amount of time. So I was like, oh, okay, I'll, like, go to. Oh, I did, yes. Whatever, together. I did a vision test. Yeah. But then Matt was like, no, you can do a vision test online, and they just, like, upload it to the DM base, renews your license. And I was like, okay, what? How can you not cheat on that? So he sent. No, it's not a cheating thing. It's, like, a website that you get on Zoom with, like, a whatever. So let me tell you, it was, like, the. We do it on, like, a Zoom with a stranger? It was, like, the fakest shit of all time. I got on a Zoom with, like. Are you looking at the eye chart? Yes. Through the Zoom? Yes. What if it's, like, a little blurry? No, through Zoom with. What are they? An op. Ophthalmologist? Optomo. Optomet. Optomet. Optometrist? An optometrist? I don't know. It literally was, like, boom, boom, read two things. Opto. Yeah. And. Opto. Yeah, optometrist. Optometrist. It's an ophthalmologist, also, I think. Yeah, I think there's multiple. There's multiple types of ops, right? Yeah. Opto, eyes. Got on, read, like, two things. They were like, you passed! Congratulations! I said, perfect. Wow, that's amazing. You're right. I do think there's a certain amount of time for. And I don't know if it's, like, every state where it's, like, you do have to go redo it. Because I remember when I did my license. When I renewed my license. But I guess I was getting my New York license. Mm-hmm. And saying bye-bye to my New Jersey license. And then I had to go. I did the eye test and the DMV. I'm gonna have to go to the DMV at one point, but this one I was able to just renew, and they. No, well, you'll have this one for a while. You'll have this one for as long as you need. This fake eye test. That's crazy. It uploaded right to the DMV. Boom, renewed my license immediately. It was the fakest shit ever. I mean, I guess it's real. And that's maybe why we have so many bad drivers on the road. That was my thought. I said, oh, well, no wonder everyone's getting approved. Yeah. Because they told me to take the amount of steps back from the screen, and they watched me take the steps back, and then they're like, all right, you're good right there. How do you know? How do you know how far I really am from the screen? Yeah. And then, boom, I passed. Yeah. And Doris was like, congratulations, you passed. You could also, like, could have had some. You could have had someone off to the side. Yeah. Like, being. Telling you what to say. I don't know. It was, like, too long. It was so fast, and that was it. What's your vision these days? Good? Perfect. Yeah. Was that. They said. 2020. So, I don't know. They said, congratulations, you passed. I didn't really get a score. Yeah, yeah. But, good stuff. Good stuff, yeah. So, that was. Josh Duhamel's just, like, paused on the screen. I know. I literally would like his smirk. I keep looking up and just seeing him and being like, oh, my God, there he is. Yeah, it was a nice smirk. Oh, wow. You know what? It's, like, hard to talk about anything else with this being our 1,000th episode. You know? Glenn. Leave it on Glenn. Yeah, leave it on Glenn. Soon enough, we'll be able to talk about our time with Glenn. Yeah. Soon. I tease. All right. Well. He's got beautiful green eyes. Did you notice that? Yeah, he's Glenn fucking Powell, man. Yeah. So does Trent. Honestly. Trent does have beautiful eyes. He's got beautiful eyes. He's got beautiful eyes, too. Should we go through and say what we think about everybody's eyes? You know, everybody's looking good, Greg. This is Dave, obviously, pre-haircut. Yeah, it seemed like he got a haircut recently. He did, he did. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Greg also always cracks me up. He's like, keep fighting, keep fighting. Yeah, it's like, all right. Well, thanks. He's always being. He's always a jokester. I couldn't believe. I like that it ended on Jake Shane. I loved it. I loved it, too. He really is everywhere. I loved it, too. I definitely love it. And I love him. And, you know, I like to think that he likes us, too. No, I like to think that he loves us as well, but he has so many friends. It's so true. He has so many friends that it's like, I don't know if we crack it, you know? Enough to make the video, though. So I think that's. Yeah, he went a lot of his way to make the video, and that's big. More than the Jonas Brothers can say. Well, no shit, okay? You know? Stop bringing it up. It is what it is at this point, okay? Stop bringing it up. Stop bringing it up. I'm going to continue to listen. You know what? I'm going to make a sign. Should I make a sign? A sign? I got floor seats for MSG. Oh, fuck. For Burning Up Tour all over again. Yeah, make a sign. Giant sign. You did wish it was the office. A happy death episode. Yes, absolutely, you should. Absolutely, you should. You have to make a sign. All right. I think that's it for the episode. I mean, we just wanted to celebrate 1,000. And we have this amazing video that we did not know was happening, truly. I kind of had a feeling. Which, yeah, yesterday Fran was like, oh, is something, I'm like, no, nothing's happening. Well, we were talking some logistics about our next few episodes. And I could just read it on Noah's face. Because he, like, he was just, we were on Zoom or whatever when we were recording. He's like, yeah, I don't think we should do that. But did it not cross? And I'm like, okay. I just, I was picking up on the scent a little bit. Did it not, were you ever like, oh, I wonder if they're, I feel like you had said it. You said it once, being like, are you making another video, like the 500? No, I genuinely didn't think anything of it. I'm not going to lie. I think we only said it one time as a joke, and it was like months ago. Like, when we were in like the 900s, I think we were like, oh, what, are we going to have another video? But I don't think we thought about it again. I didn't think anything of it, so it was a genuine nice surprise. Yes. And it's like 1,000 is like, there's not many milestones after 1,000. I was like, even 2,000 doesn't sound that big. No, 1,000 is the big one. Because after 1,000, it's like. Maybe 5,000. 5,000. 5,000 is insane, yeah. Not many podcasts, I feel like, have reached that yet. No. No. So, this is big. Hey, Jonas, if they ever reach 1,000. Good luck. We will not be fucking sending you a congrats. Don't even ask. Oh, man. All right. Well, see you at MSG. I'll be there. Don't worry, guys. Yeah, with a sign and everything. Well, thank you guys so much, and we'll talk to you on Friday. We'll be live from Palm Springs. Yeah. Maybe we'll have topics. We'll have stories. I'm getting my dance on this week. Yeah, we're going to be dancing. It's going to be great. We do have a great interview on today's episode. We do. And it does feel reminiscent of We're Engaged plus Adam Devine. It is the 1,000th episode plus Monica Barbaro. Yes. And you know what? We had so much fun with her, and she is so fantastic that it does feel like a fantastic matchup. It does. She was so fun, and I really loved the interview. Yeah. So, yeah. I walked out of here gushing about her. So, I feel like we're in such a happy mood right now. Everything's been so great, celebrating a big thing, and I feel like it's a good way to end the episode. Absolutely. So, let's get into it. Hey, guys. On game day, get sub-stacked high at Jersey Mike's, like the No. 13 original Italian loaded with meats, cheese, and toppings, or the No. 56 Big Co. Hoonah cheesesteak with grilled steak, peppers, onions, and mushrooms, topped with jalapenos and melty cheese. Get your sub-fix on game day. And order in-store or the Jersey Mike's app. All right, everyone. We are here with a very special guest. We have Monica Barbaro in studio. We are so excited to have you here. We love you. We are such big fans. And we watched One Night Only, and we loved it. It is so fun. Thank you so much. And I just, how excited are you for people to see this movie? Because it's a little different from the last few things that you've done. Yeah, it's a little more absurd. I'm so excited for people to see it. This is one where, yes, of course, it's best for everyone if a movie does well in the box office. But this is one where I really feel like a lot of people would just have such a fun time seeing it that I really want people to have that experience. I know that may sound crazy. I think that makes so much sense. It's summer. We want fun movies. We love fun rom-coms. I think that makes total sense to want people just to have a good time while watching a movie. Yeah, there's something cathartic about the movie, too. The way it talks about dating and that kind of, again, absurdity. And then also just like, it's in this world where the government feels out of control, but everyone's just trying to find love and do their thing and live their lives. Yeah, because you kind of have to get past, at first you're going to be like, wait, I'm sorry, the government? And then you're like, oh my God, they all have their bio scanned. And you're like, wow. But then there's also funny commentary because you're kind of like, oh, this is absurd, but crazy shit happens in this world. But these people just want to find love. Yeah. And when Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton have this banter, they go back and forth about why this happened. It just feels so real. It feels like everyone's household in COVID, just like, blah, blah, blah. Right, exactly. How did you join the film? Like, when you received the premise, the script, how did you feel about it? I feel like absurd is the name of the game. I was pitched this and I was like, it was that kind of like, what? That sounds crazy, but also made me laugh. And I just felt kind of immediately intrigued. And they were like, Will wants to meet with you before you read the script. So I was like, for us, sometimes, that's like a red flag, like as if the script is not going to be great. And then we had this meeting. He was like, super funny, super great. We have friends in common. And he had a really interesting take on this movie where he was like, OK, I want you to watch Uncut Gems. I want you to watch Midnight Run and After Hours. OK. And so I was like, you haven't mentioned a single rom-com. So I was like, OK, I want you to watch Midnight Run and After Hours. And then he sent the script and I was like, laughing out loud, reading the whole thing. And so and everyone that I trust who also read it was like texting me live. Like, I keep laughing. It's really great. So it just kind of felt like a no brainer. And it's a concept that's crazy, but it also makes you go like, what would I do? What does the rest of the world look like in that alternate universe? That's the best kind of conversations after you leave a movie, when you leave a movie theater. And you're talking to whoever you went with. You're like, what would you do? Also, we love so many of Will's movies. I feel like, like you said, like watching just a fun movie is exactly what we get. Will Glove, the director, writer. So fun. I mean, we were just talking about Fired Up right before this. We were like, I can't believe he did that movie. One of our favorites. Not one that's talked about enough in our opinion. Exactly. No, truly. No one has mentioned Fired Up. I need to like rewatch that. That is what it's worth to rewatch because it is also so absurd. But you laugh at every single part. And has done so many amazing rom-coms, Easy A, Friends with Ben. It's like all these great movies. And you know when you have those movies with your friends that you quote really often that maybe some people don't. Like that's Fired Up for us. Is that Fired Up for you? Yeah. I don't know what it is. What is your favorite thing about it? It just like really hit. Prohibitato. Yeah, yeah. No, no, no. Don't say it. What does he say? Ted and Crocs. I mean, we can go back and forth. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get knocked out. Yeah, yeah. The whole movie is absurd. Will is going to enjoy watching you guys do this so much. Be like, get her off the script. I've seen too much of Monica. I just want to watch them quote my movie. Carly Davidson. Yeah. It's just one of those back and forth. So you have to rewatch it. I really need to rewatch it. Because you're kind of like missing the inside joke here. No, it is. Yeah, I'm missing everything. It's so good. But he also has some amazing pairings. You know, we watched Anyone But You was so great. And Glenn and Sidney Sweeney were so great in that movie. And you and Callum Turner are so good in this movie. What was your first interactions like with Callum? Had you met him before? No, we'd never met before. We met, our first day that we met was at the beginning of like a short rehearsal period with Will. And he's just a great, nice, easygoing guy who also takes the work really seriously. So it's like that great combination of having high standards, but also really wonderful to work with. Oh, God. So Smoothie is fighting back. My body's like, you're eating? Thank you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, he's great. He's, and it was just, yeah, like silly and fun and easy. And Will, like famously with his rom-coms, he loves that bite banter kind of like ribbing comedy. And so that just felt very easy to do. I think my dog was there and he was really great with my dog. And I was like, oh, you're a good person, you know? Yeah, yeah. That's like a telltale sign. It just kind of, yeah, is. I feel like your press that you have been doing together has been so fun. Was that kind of the vibe on set? Yeah, it was just, like, I wouldn't say making the movie was easy because making a movie is always challenging and hard. And it was like 20 degrees in the middle of the night, pretending it's the dead heat of summer. Right. But. It was easy in terms of the relationship with Callum and Will. And just like, we were like a, we were like a familial trio and just sort of like giving each other shit all the time. And, and also we had a lot of safety, which I think you need comedically to be able to try things and fall on your face and then try again. And yeah, Will really fostered that kind of like freedom environment. What's that feeling like when you sort of take a risk, maybe you go off script and you want to try something funny and then it works or it doesn't work. I feel like you must. Well, nevermind. No, you're funny all the time. I'm sure. I was just going to say, excuse me, Monica, what's it like to fail at being funny? I don't relate. I'm so sorry. I've never had that happen before. Never had that happen. So can you tell us more about it? Meanwhile, she made us do a whole bit for the podcast yesterday that she, and then she said we weren't being funny enough and we cut the whole thing. What did that feel like? For them, not good. But for me, I was doing great. Just kidding. You just got the Will and us dynamic of, yeah, scrap that. It's not funny. Cut, cut. Yeah. But yeah, that's the, the doing it. Like, I think the worst is trying to do something maybe five times and then him coming forward and being like, yeah, that's not working. You're like, we got that. Yeah. I'm clear. Picked up from your reaction. Yeah. Yeah. And the lack of crew smiling. Right. Yeah. I feel like there's a lot of people that are like, I don't know. I feel like there's been more discussion lately about the way directors or the crew react to actors on set. What's a good reaction from Will? From Will, he gets this like cheeky smile. His shoulders are like up and he'll like walk in like this and be like, that's really funny. That's really funny. He's like kind of, he's like very cool, but he's also kind of an absolute nerd. Yeah. I don't know how to explain it. He's like, he's like young and with it, but then also there's like something. I'm so sorry, Will. Um, there's something like deeply kind of dweeby about him in a, in a really, um, adorable, wonderful way. Kind of, kind of like the Owen character in this movie where you're like, I think I love him even more when he's embarrassing himself in some capacity. In a more endearing way. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're sort of like, oh, you're kind of a nerd. Yeah. And is it like, I feel like comedians talk about this all the time when they're in a not a laugh, but maybe the audience can't laugh for some reason. So they're like, I don't know what, I don't know if this is funny or not. I, I really think of, cause I always think of people. I feel like that's what people tell themselves. Yes. They couldn't laugh. You're like famously the SNL auditions is like, no, they're all in the room. No one laughs. Yes. I've heard that. So it's like, you don't know, like you could have bombed or been really good, but no one really has a reaction with a massive crew around you and you're, you're telling jokes. They can't audibly be laughing. Yes. They can't make noise. But, um, Oh, Luke on the handy cam. So we had, um, there was, it was a lot of like handheld camp. Like I said, like the uncut gems kind of energy of like that frenetic kind of chaotic New York city energy was a part of how they filmed this. So poor thing, especially when you're going through loads of comedic attempts and in these long scenes, like a handheld camera is heavy. So he's just like living that way. But we knew we were onto something good when like you try to not know that the camera's cameras there, but you kind of do. And we could always just see like, from behind his all you could see was this part of him and you could just see when something was funny he'd just get this really big grin and so that was like our little you had a little tip off that yeah yeah things were going good yeah but if we were in a giggle state and like couldn't control it and then he was doing that it was that was that was really hard um but yeah i think maybe that's the maybe that's the blessing of not waiting to hear laughter like because they can't we can tell ourselves like oh well they would be laughing if they could yeah right we crushed that yeah absolutely callum has uh you know famously british although people may may not realize that yeah because i think he does an amazing like new york yeah incredible accent and it feels fairly authentic where it's like but i do find that his american accent just in general like feels like a new york yes accent and he's done it multiple times now yeah yeah masters of the air he's an american pilot yeah i think i i thought it was flawless will would sometimes like catch a sound and i'd be like will i disagree yeah yeah perfect yeah i thought it was like i thought he does a great like like good new york where it's not like um like a character of a new york accent like yeah it's not like yeah yeah yeah yeah like it was it was good it was good i think if anything that was maybe more of the thing like will would be like that sounded like really new york like you're gonna turn it down just a little bit yeah we don't sound like that yeah yeah i know you own a pizza shop but just bring it down a little bit and i guess also we're talking about the movie like everybody knows we're talking about the premise of this movie is that there's only one night a year that premarital sex is allowed yes there's a ban on premarital sex government mandated and there is one night so it is a it's a hilarious watch because when you see that clock hit chaos in the streets yes how what were those moments like filming in the streets of new york because everything is in new york city that was i mean that was a test of my own ability to not to try and not laugh at very hilarious things that were happening all around me um it was it's hard to shoot in new york city because there's a lot of paparazzi but also just like people walking by and staring and also we were shooting for summer but it was the fall and winter so we couldn't you couldn't just blend the background into the shot like we had to clear we had to wait and clear all of the people on the street a lot um and i just i have adhd so like anytime someone like stops it's like is that callum turkish i don't know i don't know i'm like i'm sorry i can't i don't know how to stay in the scene um which he was much better at um but yeah i mean we had incredible background actually most of them are actual couples there was this one duo where i was like you're a couple right and they're like we're just friends i was like oh okay well maybe not after today yeah eight hours later are you guys still just friends yeah you guys have had to make out a lot to the back of this scene is it doing anything for you yeah and that was the thing too like you'd start the day and people were like let's do it and then like the eighth hour they were like it's like you guys don't need to kiss here we go again what what was it like you know you mentioned paparazzi maybe you go online you see a shot from what you're filming yeah what's that reaction like are you upset about it or you're like this is just the name of the game now um for this movie it didn't bother me nearly as much as like something like for a complete unknown it was sort of like i had to just like shut down like not look at any internet anything because i know the number one comment is going to be how wrong we are for the part or how like inaccurate it is or so and i was like so terrified so concerned with like getting everything right in that in that film um and it's really distracting because it doesn't feel like 1960s new york um yeah it's shot near me in jersey oh yeah i was actually stalking you guys yeah yeah i live in yeah that was me no um i live in jersey city and that's where a lot of the filming took place yes because it looks i minded my business i didn't i wasn't you know what i mean like i was like let them shoot just want to clarify i want to clarify i was telling everyone on the street to let you guys be i would love for like footage delete of you just like it's me she's not right for this yeah nominated for an academy award really oh my gosh i disagree um but you're right like it's playing you're playing a real play a real person and then having the feedback from that yeah broadsy pictures from this is like they don't know who i am they don't know my character they don't know yeah really the details and the main thing with this i mean again it was just sort of the distracting element but i found that in this kind of a situation if you if you do talk to them directly rather than like have someone like throw them off your set and like not treat them like a human being it it helps because they understand the ones who like come to sets they seem to understand eyeline so like if i was like i have to look in that direction and act like something else is happening in front of me can you please get out of the eyeline they would understand that or like if our ad went to them and yeah we're like hey can you guys just move over here like often they were willing not always yeah but yeah yeah more often than not the ones who were like really dedicated and are always on sets seem to kind of i don't know understand that which is weird because then you're like i don't know yeah it feels like there's like a machine around it that i just never knew about before your job about this is your whole job like to do showing up at sets kind of kind of kind of well and then you're like oh i really don't want this element to leak or like you know you don't want the end of the movie to be out in the press before it gets to happen in the but luckily the fun thing about this is that ali fantasizes a lot so like whatever has been seen on the internet as you're watching the movie that may or may not be right really what happens in the story i do that that is a smart way to do it too because i actually do really remember seeing all the paparazzi shots of um pete davidson and oh yeah um bobby yeah bobby cannavale are like i remember seeing those shots of them filming and everyone was like oh they're in this movie it's a whole thing and then watching it i'm like there they there they are yeah that's their moment yeah and because you it's really just like a like a kind of a quick cameo type thing yeah so you don't know until you watch the movie like you're looking at these pictures you don't really know what's going on right and as consumers like we don't want to be spoiled either so it is a weird line of being excited people love you guys seeing you guys film a movie together but then being like wait we don't want it to be spoiled yeah we want to be surprised as well yeah which i still felt we got with them like i yeah it was he didn't feel spoiled no amazing also when you've got like boob tape or like a harness or something like that it's like it's like you're like oh my god like you're like can you um can you please please just not share the one where my right right actual tits are out that would be that would be kind so appreciate that thank you so much really appreciate that um azria did just joke but on in all seriousness academy award nominee oh yeah which is so incredible that movie was i thought you were gonna talk about your tits yeah i thought about it but i decided to spin it to academy award nominee we'd like to take the next 20 minutes to talk thank god i have that so we don't have to just talk about my tits yeah instead of the being an academy the oscars no no let's go back let's go back but let's elevate that is that has got to be just one of the most fulfilling feelings getting that nomination where were you when you were told about it or watched it um i was in a i was in london so it was like middle of the day um and i was in a fitting uh with an incredible costume designer who is friends with our costume designer and we were actually kind of looking more to see if the costume designer got it and like who of the group got it but i i didn't i did not have any expectation that that that i would be in that on that list that was a that was like a nuts that was crazy i mean like i had to kind of like process it the night before a little bit because people told me it could happen but there was no like oh for sure this is happening i don't know that anyone feels that way but some people like through the process of an award season are constantly getting nominations so it maybe is a little bit more like still exciting but kind of like okay we thought this would happen i was definitely more of like a late kind of surprise so it was truly nuts how does this the timing of like when that movie was released was definitely on the on the later yeah yeah christmas yeah for sure it was like i remember trying to kind of rush to make sure i saw it before all the nominations and things started to come out well and like timmy and ed had gotten golden globe recognition and bafta recognition and and so you know maybe critics choice too and so i i just i didn't there was no assumption that i would be a part of that um and so that was kind it was kind of mind-blowing yeah and like just the coolest yeah so amazing ever how did you prepare for that because you go in and like you said you weren't even expecting a nomination but then you do get the nomination and now you have to sit there be like am I gonna win this what's gonna happen how do I react when I win how do I react if I don't win like what is the thought process going into that night um this sounds kind of crazy but like you do get a sense I mean there are a lot of online bets going on about these things like people like study it yeah and that doesn't mean you can predict it there's a lot of stats yeah there's a lot of stats involved and my and the stats about me said she's not gonna win it so I actually felt so certain that I wasn't going to get it but but I also felt like you know maybe this is the only time in my entire life that this will have ever happened and everything I've done up until this point has gotten me here and you know like you don't want to do a disservice to it just because like you want to just embrace it and be present and really enjoy it um I had my dad with me because he's just like the least um starstruck person in the world uh and so it was really just like a very calming energy like he's just there to I mean and yet when we walked into the to the theater right before it started he kind of like I could hear his he like kind of held his breath and was like whoa because it's just this huge I mean it's it's larger than life and I was like oh yeah because I'd been two years prior and because I'd just been in this sort of publicity hole I forgot to like take that moment and look and he was really receiving it and I was like oh yeah I'm so glad you're here someone who is not used to this or not jaded by it or um overly experienced he just it was like really when he's impressed it's like genuine yeah and you know and really grounding because yeah it can really take you to that moment which is hard to do especially I feel like with the recent years that you had because starting with Top Gun I feel like you know when people talk about your career they go back to Top Gun and they were like this breakthrough moment yeah and then from there did it kind of feel just like oh my gosh I'm so booked and busy now my whole world is changing um yeah yes and no I mean we also filmed Top Gun in 2018 2019 so we sat on it for a really long time and that felt like the slowest longest period of time in my whole life um and then yeah I mean I don't know it's funny it's like all I guess it's all perspective because I think to other to some other people it feels like it's rapid fire like building so quickly and to me maybe because I've been doing this for so long it feels less like that and yet I haven't been home for more than like five days I feel like in three years right so yeah I don't I don't know I don't know that I like had a chance to do that I don't know I don't know that I had a chance to do that I don't know have perspective right well you have been working in this industry for so long as well like you said how did you initially get into it like is it is acting something you did when you were younger is it something you always had love for like what is more of your earlier story I I was in ballet I was put in ballet like very very young and um but then when I was 12 in my school like everyone was required we was like required Shakespeare and we did A Midsummer Night's Dream and I I just felt it was that thing where I was like oh this is like what I I love this so much this is the hardest I've ever worked on anything and I like memorized everyone's lines and it was like like time didn't cease to exist when I had that play open and was just like reading through it and um I still didn't do it for a really long time um because I was kind of afraid of quitting ballet and also um like embracing what I felt like would seem kind of like a pipe dream um or like I don't know I I think I felt like it was uh like if you say you want to be an actor you're saying that you want to be famous or you want to like the associations with it I felt like were not as um positive as it was certainly in my family to be to be um to excel at like a classical art form like ballet like that to my parents I think was very special yeah um and yeah it's also like hard to leave something like all my friends were in ballet and and you were at you were at NYU for for dance yeah and the acting was kind of like did I held out for a really long time a few acting classes but like really held on to to to dance I mean ballet has got to be one of the strictest disciplines to to participate in what was that like for for you growing up because I know it can be very tough on a lot of young girls being in ballet oh completely yeah um yeah it took me years to get uh you know whiplash yes yeah it took me years to get uh the artistic director of my ballet school to get her voice out of my head and it was one that for me in my experience was semi-similar to that okay dynamic yep maybe not jk simmons but yeah a little little bit I was like oh yep and and Miles's character like also like wants more of it and becomes it it is a little bit chicken or the egg like I I know I was friends other friends of mine quit well before it got to that stage so like the friends of mine I have who um stayed in it with me we sometimes are like but also was I kind of built for it did I like that kind of feedback um so yeah that is an interesting conversation to have though right because although very hard you're like is there a part of me that was thriving off that yeah because I'm like other other kids quit I remember there was a girl we were about to have like one new teacher who was super strict and I remember she was like she was like I I'm so scared of that teacher I'm quitting and I was like that's wild but also makes a lot of sense and good for her um and my friends and I were like nope yeah I'm gonna stay in it yeah yeah it's like proving something to yourself and to other people weirdly yeah you know I think that maybe is a part of also why it felt hard to walk away from why I didn't just Pivot into like I mean I had there were great drama programs in my hometown and at my high school and Phil there was a my school had like a public school in California it had this amazing film program which I also wanted to be a part of um but I just kept I stayed in ballet hey guys we're gonna take a quick break and we will be right back hey Alabama offer all right now back to the show is dance with me like is that what made you want to leave California and come to New York for college I actually kind of thought I was like well once I'm at NYU maybe I can like start auditioning right while I'm in class for like 12 hours a day with the dance conservatory it was just nuts I don't know some somehow in my fantasy I was like I'll become an actor once I get there right that's just step one yeah it's like just get to New York and we'll figure it out from there it's like an old-timey like musical I'm like once I'm in here I can do it okay maybe not exactly in that way but you did do it yes you know yeah yeah I then had to like after college had no money had to like leave New York and move back home but it was San Francisco which was a smaller market to kind of like right start out in the commercial thing so it's kind of the opposite I was like oh New York's big you can get out of here and then yeah do you remember those early auditions yeah some of them were so rough I think the worst one I ever had was one where it was like the group all comes in there's a group of people watching like like we all come in we introduce ourselves and then like six people were told to wait like off to the side like they would be over there while one person is pretending they're in a water fight and I was first I was the guinea pig and it was like pretend you're in a water fight and just like improvise like you're talking to someone but they weren't going to improvise with me I just had to respond to nobody in a corner while six people stood there and watched me and I remember that being like can I can I keep doing this can I I do have just enough shame to feel like this is so embarrassing like did you would you have to pretend the water was being like thrown on you yeah it says it was like stop it like literally that's that's what I did and then I also found out and then they let me go after so like the last person got to do that with no one in the room I had to do it with everyone in the room yeah and it was kind of that thing where it was like um okay let's try something else like they weren't organized so they were just trying things and I was like okay just try something else now sure on me okay okay that's amazing and okay so really you're you are a triple threat because the dancing in a water fight yeah yeah actually I didn't get the job down and you have an amazing voice like you're an amazing singer um I loved seeing that be a part of one night only because you know we we saw obviously in a complete unknown very different kind of singing for for one night only and I was like really laughing because these are some funny jingles that that you're doing but did you want to sing again in this movie or was it something that maybe you were worried about because now now people well she's a singer I mean I thought I would I would be more prepared for it this time around and I found out that I am just as terrified as I always was it was less pressure because I didn't have to emulate someone who is so beloved and also I kind of tailored the character to be anxious about it in a way that I could I could just be my anxious self about it and then some and like have that be a part of the character more so so that so that was nice to get to like kind of be honest about it and to have slightly less pressure um but at the same time I still I'm just like I mean ballet I can be like really hard on myself and want it to sound really really good and do my absolute best and if it's not sounding like the best thing I've ever heard I'll just keep like I'm just gonna keep doing it going back over it but I got to work with the same vocal coach I did on A Complete Unknown so he he knew the game right away he was like we're back and we actually like that was another thing we would we would we would rehearse the song and we would just like bust up laugh particularly the psoriasis song yes we would just laugh so hard it was like hard to get through it which that felt cathartic too to kind of put music in that space and just have it be a little bit more free um and just silly yeah yeah and it was so funny because we all see the commercials all the time so it was funny to think like I was like wow who does sing those songs you know like yeah which makes you laugh just like a working singer yeah yeah and and when it kind of when the movie introduces your character I was like oh that's so nice like she's a singer in New York and then you and then psoriasis comes out I was like oh this is a different she's not like recording her new album it is something we joke about on our podcast too are these jingles so it did feel very relatable apparently there's so many funny ones they don't have them in Australia or England they're like illegal there I could see I could see that I mean because they are catchy yeah it's dangerous yeah but it is really just a complete ripoff of an original song yeah that is true well and maybe it's like the promotion of pharmaceutical I don't yeah right I know it really ropes you in music just gets you going yeah I was like are they gonna get it in those will they be like what no no but I think they will yeah because you talked about how you know you're a perfectionist when it comes to these things and how singing in a movie can make you anxious is it something you want to keep doing is you know doing films where you are singing or is it something you kind of just like if it feels right I think if it I think if it feels right I'm not seeking that out and I wasn't for this but I was like okay um I actually think yeah it's nice to take um some time off of it um but yeah if another one came up that I felt really excited about and had to do that I'd be like okay yeah it makes so much sense in this movie and I think Will has done like his there's so many iconic musical moments yeah in his movies that it yeah it makes sense you're like well this fits this movie and working with him to do it this way because there are so many like yeah you know you think about that big friends with benefits see like there's just so many big musical moments and like pocket full of sun I was just gonna say that yeah like there's really so many things that it makes and now when you hear the song it makes you think of the movie yeah yeah and and they're catchy for a reason and also I got to work with S.D. Heim and she did because she's like our composer on it and not only am I just obsessed with her now but she she she was just so great with understanding the comedy and also like getting my confidence up and like just playing so our recording sessions were some of the most fun that I had even like um Andrew Burnap who like plays the song on the piano with me um we were with Will like trying to find the best possible song for that and then once we found it we're like okay how do we harmonize it how do we do and we had this we had a little rehearsal thing moment in the recording studio set um because there was a piano there where we were just trying stuff and and I was like this is like I think this is literal heaven this is so fun to get to just play with S.D. try things um and and like design a song I was like I I would love to work on music in some capacity if it can be the way S.D. does it where it's just like fun and trying things and energy and um you know free yeah way and she's so talented yeah I don't know if this is a weird thing to say but you can tell by your speaking voice that you're a phenomenal singer thank you so much like you just can right you're right it's just I've had a lot of fun with S.D. I've had a lot of fun I've had a lot of fun with S.D. I've had a lot of fun with S.D. I've had a lot of fun with you guys also would be great singers really some of the worst you'll ever hear nope can no no trust me our listeners are really tired of us you know I'm really loving this interview and we don't need to drop we don't need people to drop we don't need you to think of us differently we don't need other people to think of us differently like it's okay I do find I think you guys both have incredible speaking voices well thank god we speak for a living thank you very much but it does unfortunately for us it does not translate I've always wanted it to translate it's like my dream but it's actually so bad that it's not it can't even be worked on I don't think that's true no it is true because when I was younger and my acting teacher said hey can I hear you sing happy birthday but see no can I hear you just like well I want to see a tune and I sang happy birthday she said it's not going to be for you we're just going to stick to the acting the you're not going to be able to do the singing part you know yeah but I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't I that kid I don't believe uh Monica when we finish when we finish you know maybe it's true when we finish can I hear a song but when when for you yes when did you find like who was the first person to tell you wait I think you can sing were you singing at a young age no I did I did a singular like season with a choir like extracurricular should I try this it was not yeah yeah yeah um and I was like I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know and then I would sing at home to myself but not much and then so was it really like a complete unknown where you were like I'm gonna sing for this yeah yeah yeah and like the occasional thing maybe in an acting class capacity it'd be like uh you should maybe do have you ever like thought about that it was that kind of thing but um um yeah I think it was a completely unknown thing I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know it was a complete unknown where it was like okay just natural yeah no truly though Eric Vietro like I could not sing the songs that she sang in the register that she did and Eric is a magician yeah I had strep at the beginning of at the end of this play run that I was just doing in London and I had to do some ADR for this movie including like sing a note or two to like clean up some stuff from set and uh and he I don't know how he did it I was like I came in like a toad and then I was singing and then they just fixed it suddenly I was like I have to I have to have like an equal animal to like a songbird I don't know how do I I came in like a toad and was a beautiful hummingbird how did you like uh working on how'd you you want me yeah seriously how'd you like working on the on the west end um oh uh London theater is like the best it's the coolest it the community is like the community is just really gorgeous and funny and wild and um I had a really great time with that was theater something you were interested in like when you first because I feel like there's people who want to be an actor and they're like I want to be in movies and then I want to do theater and sometimes they don't really overlap yeah I've wanted to do anything and everything since I've started and I missed being on stage I had that was my first play like official play yeah um and I really loved dancing on stage so I was really excited about that and it was incredible and the national kind of is like uh it it sort of feels like going to college in a way or like drama school or something it feels almost like you're in dorms and like they have all the resources available to you that you might need and the it's they're like there's a subscriber base so the audiences are always like really strong um and it just yeah it was it was just like the best way to launch into it that's amazing we have to wrap up we could probably talk for like another hour i'm having so much fun but my last question for you is it is a you got to pick somebody out of you've had some amazing co-stars hey guys we're going to take a quick break and we will be right back stelle blue coffee's new can about that on a different show which also should be like a fuck mary it should be like a fuck mary be my friend right friend zone you know what i mean friend zone because like sometimes you're just like i don't want to kill totally right right um stranded island who's who's getting you off the island glenn can fly a plane the trouble it that is so true he just is there logistics a plane there he could maybe build one and glenn's like but i know he's like sort of like a friend of ours now so it feels like kind of like i'm not sure but because he and i are like friends yeah yeah if he sees like yeah it could didn't pick me possibly see it and you don't even know that guy as well as me yeah yeah okay so we'll just whisper that's gotta be glenn it's gotta be gone we could say it i don't know like how is like when actors have been doing this for a long time like their survival skills i feel like fall away because me included like i earlier today locked my entire team out of my hotel room because like i didn't even think to bring the hotel key right so like we lose our sense of um self yeah the sufficiency yeah so i feel like i feel like glenn's like he's like he's kind of like i feel
