I think it was a lot of fun to talk about a program that has been in the past 50 years. A program that I think is the most part of you who listened to us and came to Australia because we talked about the "Visa Vacance Travail". As usual, I'm happy to discuss this with Romain Fati, a historian from Australia from the University of Australia. Hello Romain. Hello Gregorio, good morning, I'm from Italy. And in the crisis. Among the SBS friends editors, I'm not sure there are a lot of them, but apart from the hypothesis that people don't know what it is, the program is going to work. The famous PVT. Can you tell us a little more about this program on this title of these days which combines the priority of totally opposing things, vacances and work? The program "Viacance Travail" is a class of vision that is not exclusive to Australia. So, what is it called? It's a kind of intermediate between a tourist city. That is, you know, I don't know, I spent three weeks in Turkey in a very good resort, you take a tourist city. Here, where we wanted to go to the United States or someone who wants to go to the embassy, and then a lot of paper and solid justification and a premise in the left side. And well, you have an intermediate in some countries where Australia is the city of vacance and work, which allows you to come to Australia at least for a year. So, there are different categories with different countries, but putting the main object, in the most common or a visa for a year, or coming to Australia for a year, and also, you have to go to vacances and work in certain industries. So, it allows you to live in your travel and go to three weeks in the world, which is very far away, and a carbon-free environment. Not very positive, very negative. It allows you to extend your days in work if you wish. All the people who use the visa in work do not work necessarily. It's an intermediate town that is reserved for a certain class of people between 18 and 30 years, exceptionally 35 years for some nationality or some nationality rare. And one of the conditions that I have taken in making research for today is that you can't have children. So, it's reserved for generally young people, not when or after their studies, who wants to travel long and discover another country, or by power, if not, this trip. So, we're going to come back to this programme. I was told that in introduction, it was made in 50 years in 2025. And in other episodes of our series, we talked about the long term of the Australian political and political policy of its history, which has, in large, evolved in the function of two factors, it is important to have a work, and the level, let's say, of racism, or governmental level. The programme will be working, so, 50 years, in 2025, in 1955, it's 1995. Can you hold us a little bit in the context of the time? And this visa, which is put at the same time to the tourism and possibility of working, is it as if the other political migratory measures are put in place by the Australian from its origins? Is it possible to make more quickly the Australian economy? So, usually not so much. I'm surprised to see it in the 70s, when this visa was thought, a recent report has several goals, but the one that was officially announced, and which is not officially from propaganda, it was really thought like that, was to increase cultural exchanges between the inhabitants of the planet to make the Australian discovery and to approach the peoples. It's a bit of a thought, or a programme, and it's a bit too much, but it's not a study, but a visa will work. So, in the programme, it was thought in the case of an Australian, which is often, you know, when we made these images on the immigration, 75, it's really the end, the interest of the Australian white, so the visa system was entirely thought and renewed, and in parallel with the immigration I chose, which is a discovery in reality, in many nationalities. Australia also has a moment where it really begins to develop its tourism industry, and, by the way, it opens on the Pacific island. And so, there is a real interest from the Department of the Wittland Government, the list, and the Fraser Conservator, which replaces it in 75. A real interest to to read the country, and in a way to open a country, is to be able to bring back the London in this country, which is to expose the Australians to other cultures, and other identities. But if these young people, maybe, finally, they stay longer, they work longer, they bring up certain Australian ideas. Well, here it is, it's the cultural message, and, at the same time, at the beginning or at least, the main ambition is the cultural exchange, it's the discovery of the country, and it's to authorize people, to spend a long time in the 60s, 80s, if I imagine a very good life in Australia, it takes a lot more time, but it's much more expensive. So, it's interesting because these young people can stay longer. That's the beginning of politics. From top I feel like, "Oh, I'm going to quit. I've gave up." A lot of others will have to work. To make the vacations very long. And to. Exactly. And that's important to the Greek community. It's also inscribed in a global movement. I mean, Australia is not the only one to have this kind of vision. There, we really see, you know, the people a little privileged, often European, who could allow to travel a year, two years, in the 70s, 80s, to discover the world. So we're inscribed in a way of a big round, too, where it is said to put the Australian on the card of this big round, among the destinations that became more accessible, because the world would be with the multiplication of the director.
